- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hey, I'm Connor.
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: I've talked about what I'm passionate about, the things that really make me excited, and of course, real estate, muscle building and fat loss, and finally longevity.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Today we're going to talk about muscle building and fat loss.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: I was 135 pounds fatter than I am today, and it took me seven, eight months to get a majority of that fat off.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: I didn't do any surgeries, but I did realize my problem was overconsumption, and I had been overconsuming for a very long time.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: I'd been eating way too much food and not giving my body access to the stored fat that I had accumulated on my body since I was a kid.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: So I had some times in my life when I was a little less fat, but for a majority of it, all of it, after I got to about eight or nine years old, that's when it really started coming on.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: So I was a fat kid, a fat teen, adolescent, I don't know which comes first, fat adult, and so on and so forth.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: I did have some less fat periods, as I mentioned, but realistically that came down to a lot of activity and maybe not having enough time to eat, which is interesting because that's what brought me into the fasting realm after I read a book, Jason Fung's Obesity Code.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: That was really my breakthrough point.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: And then after that, it was just about getting used to it.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: So I still do a lot of that.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: The muscle building part of it, because there is an advantage to having more muscle, there's a metabolic advantage because having it, albeit the numbers aren't massive.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: If you slap on 50 pounds of muscle, you're going to see this major caloric burn at rest.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: But it does help.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: It's a lot better than fat.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Fat does store toxins.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: Fat is really not great to have.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: There are good types of fat, but again, if you can see the fat on your system, you probably have too much.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: So to get into that, what I found over time was fasting really worked for me.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: And then the muscle part of it, talking to my friends out there, I do know that I had an issue with my hormones.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: My testosterone was incredibly low because of motorcycle crashes and painkillers and just life.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: And plus, I got into my 50s, and that's when I had it measured and realized how low it actually was.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: So then I was able to get that prescribed.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: And now that equalized that hormone, and then that was a complete game changer for the gaining of muscle.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: So really, really fantastic.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: Something to look for in that is to make preparations.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: Some people that start to drop off weight, and if you try this over and over and over again, not just weight, we want to target fat.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: When you take some of these drugs that are out there on the market, look at those studies, see what exactly people are burning off, what types of weight they're losing, because you can lose all sorts of weight, right?
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: We've heard losing water weight.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Whenever I start a longer fast, the water weight drops off real quick.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: If I'm starting a dry fast, which means I'm not drinking liquid for a day or two or three, then really I purge water.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: So I can lose water weight, and that's great.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Really, we don't want to lose anything but fat weight if we can help it.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: Of course, the water's going to be automatic, but looking at the fat numbers are incredibly important.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: If you look at losing muscle, that's something you don't want to do.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: And some of these drugs that they prescribe now that have become FDA approved, they talk about weight loss.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: They don't talk about fat loss.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: Pay attention to the words they say, and that falls in with my third core belief about truth.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: If they're saying weight loss, I think the next natural question to that would be what type of weight?
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: And if it's bleeding muscle loss, if you're losing muscle because you're taking this, probably not the best idea.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: I do know that if you research fasting as I did, see what it says about muscle loss.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: And it would seem that there's a lot less with that than even caloric restriction.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: But again, I'm not a doctor.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: Please do your research and check it out.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: But that's a little bit of an update.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Hopefully, that will somebody will hear something in this that will get you to be motivated.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: It took time, but it really finally sunk in where I realized that the question wasn't should I be eating more?
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: It should, why not eat less?
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: And should I be eating less?
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: Everybody always panics when people start not to eat, especially if you're going to go a day or two without food.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: You tell your family, oh my God, should you be doing it?
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: Well, then look at me.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: I was 365 pounds of fat.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: I had a 65-inch waste.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: I was over 50% fat when I had it tested.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: That's a lot.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: The question that friends and family should have been asking was not, should you not be eating because I wasn't eating for a meal or two.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: The question should be, well, it should you be eating?
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: That should be the question.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Should you, do you really need to eat?
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: Why don't you give it a two or three days and see what happens?
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: Again, if you're on medication, it's a whole game changer.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: Talk to your doctor about that before you quit eating because sometimes medication should be taken with food.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: But check that out.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: That might even be something that we've been fibbed about too.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: I'm Connor with honor.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: Thank you for watching.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: Be well.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: We'll see you in the next one.
