- 0:29Speaker 1: Welcome to Table Talk here at the Philadelphia Sports Table
- 0:31Speaker 1: podcast show, the longest running weekly Philly sports podcast show
- 0:34Speaker 1: in the world, over twelve and a half years strong.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Got a great discussion coming your ways. We start diving
- 0:39Speaker 1: into college football prospects that may be able to make
- 0:43Speaker 1: a positive transition over to the NFL as the NFL Draft.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I feel like that's going to be right around the corner,
- 0:50Speaker 1: so joining us one of our good friends from A
- 0:53Speaker 1: to Z Sports head on over to A to z
- 0:56Speaker 1: sports dot com. He does a lot of college football analysis,
- 0:59Speaker 1: a lot of NFLFT analysis for A to z Sports
- 1:02Speaker 1: and also he is one of the hosts of the
- 1:05Speaker 1: Raffino and Joe Show. Great podcast. We've got our good
- 1:09Speaker 1: friend Joe dal Leone. Buddy Man, thanks so much for
- 1:11Speaker 1: taking the time to join us again. I know you
- 1:12Speaker 1: were on recently, I think back in October, and I
- 1:14Speaker 1: appreciate you taking the time again.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Yeah, of course, I always have a blast chopping it
- 1:19Speaker 2: up and talking ball with you, so couldn't be more
- 1:21Speaker 2: excited to dig in today.
- 1:22Speaker 1: It's gonna be great to get into this college football
- 1:25Speaker 1: scene and specifically the prospects that we're really going to
- 1:27Speaker 1: be following over the course of these next few months
- 1:29Speaker 1: as the NFL Draft again, like I said, I feel
- 1:31Speaker 1: like it's gonna be right around the corner, even though
- 1:33Speaker 1: we're still in the midst of the bowl season, in
- 1:35Speaker 1: the midst of the NFL playoffs, that are right around
- 1:38Speaker 1: the corner here, Joe, So I know they're I want
- 1:42Speaker 1: to get the the conversation started by something that we've
- 1:44Speaker 1: recently talked about here on our podcast platform with my
- 1:47Speaker 1: other co hosts is various college football programs throughout the
- 1:52Speaker 1: United States, like Notre Dame this year, who took themselves
- 1:56Speaker 1: out of bowl consideration. But it seems like we're seeing
- 2:00Speaker 1: more and more of this happening year after year, and
- 2:02Speaker 1: we're also seeing players who don't want to play in
- 2:05Speaker 1: bowl games for fear of getting injured before the NFL Draft.
- 2:08Speaker 1: I mean, and sometimes I think this is totally understandable.
- 2:11Speaker 1: We've been seeing that happen with players now for quite
- 2:14Speaker 1: some time, like well over a decade here. As a
- 2:18Speaker 1: college football fan, I kind of go back and forth
- 2:20Speaker 1: with this particular issue because I want to see some
- 2:25Speaker 1: of my favorite college football players on the field and
- 2:27Speaker 1: whatever bowl game it's going to be, specifically around the
- 2:30Speaker 1: holiday season. It's one of the great parts about the
- 2:31Speaker 1: holiday season for me. It's just been a tradition. You
- 2:34Speaker 1: watch bowl games, you see these amazing college football players
- 2:37Speaker 1: who may end up going to the NFL as well,
- 2:39Speaker 1: but at times we don't see them. That's said, I'm
- 2:42Speaker 1: just wondering, you know, what are your thoughts on this
- 2:44Speaker 1: phenomenon in general that we've seen over the past decade here? So,
- 2:48Speaker 1: and do you think there's there's anything that the NC
- 2:50Speaker 1: Double A or perhaps the conferences can really do about
- 2:53Speaker 1: it in the years to come? Here? What are your thoughts?
- 2:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I honestly, I don't think that there really is
- 2:59Speaker 2: much that can be done, because it's just where we've
- 3:01Speaker 2: trended towards. The sport has changed rapidly, and there's not
- 3:06Speaker 2: value in guys that are expected to declare that are
- 3:09Speaker 2: going to be early draft picks. There's no value in
- 3:11Speaker 2: them playing in these games because of risk of injury.
- 3:15Speaker 2: The season's already capped off, You're not competing for a
- 3:17Speaker 2: national championship. What's really the point. Everything that you could
- 3:21Speaker 2: have accomplished had been accomplished on the field. One more
- 3:24Speaker 2: game that's effectively in exhibitions not going to do much damage.
- 3:28Speaker 3: For your draft stock.
- 3:29Speaker 2: But from the team perspective, I think definitely the value
- 3:34Speaker 2: and the importance of bowl games has gone down. The
- 3:37Speaker 2: premiere bulls that have existed for a very long time
- 3:42Speaker 2: that have been the staple of the college football postseason,
- 3:46Speaker 2: like the Rose Bowl, the Cotton Bowl, if yes, well
- 3:47Speaker 2: all that that are now features in the college football playoff.
- 3:51Speaker 2: They're going to remain significant entities. But I don't see
- 3:55Speaker 2: it that we need to have some of these, like
- 3:59Speaker 2: really half as bowl games.
- 4:00Speaker 3: I appreciate and.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Love the unique ones like the Xbox Bowl went all
- 4:04Speaker 2: in on being unique and having fun with you know,
- 4:07Speaker 2: master Chief handing over the trophy, and the Pop Tart
- 4:10Speaker 2: Bowl is always an eclectic uh you know part of
- 4:14Speaker 2: this this whole process. You see the bad Boy Mower's
- 4:16Speaker 2: bull throwing clippings of of mowing clippings on Terry Smith
- 4:22Speaker 2: after the game, and having the ones that understand the
- 4:25Speaker 2: playing into the bit. I think their value of filling
- 4:30Speaker 2: the airway or filling the you know, the time slots
- 4:33Speaker 2: during the during the holidays for ESPN, but for some
- 4:36Speaker 2: of these other ones it might not be as necessary.
- 4:39Speaker 2: And I think a lot of these teams realize that
- 4:41Speaker 2: if they're in a situation where they're transitioning coaches, they're
- 4:46Speaker 2: just moving on to the next season. It's not really
- 4:48Speaker 2: worth them going out there and play.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I think in the two thousands, once we started
- 4:52Speaker 1: seeing you know, whether it was the Chick fil A Bowl,
- 4:55Speaker 1: you know, we we started seeing all these different bowls.
- 4:58Speaker 1: I mean, I'm an old man and growing up as
- 5:00Speaker 1: a kid in the eighties and like the early nineties,
- 5:03Speaker 1: you know, there were only a few bowls here and there,
- 5:05Speaker 1: you know, the Sugar Bowl, Cotton Bowl, even Fiesta Bowl
- 5:09Speaker 1: and Rose Bowl of course, and over the years, like
- 5:12Speaker 1: you mentioned, I think because there are so many bowls,
- 5:16Speaker 1: the bowl phenomenon has been devalued over the years. So again,
- 5:21Speaker 1: why get hurt being in one of these type of
- 5:24Speaker 1: bowls that that really doesn't have too too much value
- 5:27Speaker 1: to it. The only value it really has is to
- 5:30Speaker 1: maybe the NCAA into the conferences quite frankly, and to
- 5:33Speaker 1: the network. So we're showing them so anyway I could
- 5:35Speaker 1: can't we could have like an hour long discussion I
- 5:38Speaker 1: think on this particular topic here, But Joe, I really
- 5:41Speaker 1: wanted to dive into some of these these prospects, these
- 5:44Speaker 1: college football prospects that we're going to see potentially transition
- 5:47Speaker 1: over to the NFL. So let's start with the quarterback
- 5:50Speaker 1: position here, because many of us football fans, we do
- 5:54Speaker 1: we look towards that next generation of talent heading to
- 5:57Speaker 1: the NFL, specifically the quarterback position. Argue, I believe the
- 6:00Speaker 1: most important position in all of sports, one that absolutely
- 6:04Speaker 1: gets the most scrutiny, in the most attention. Obviously, we've
- 6:08Speaker 1: got Dante Moore out of Oregon, Fernando Mendoza out of Indiana,
- 6:14Speaker 1: and Ty Simpson out of Alabama. You know they're gonna
- 6:17Speaker 1: be some of the top quarterback prospects here coming out
- 6:20Speaker 1: into the NFL draft. But as we know, you know,
- 6:22Speaker 1: every single year, there are quarterbacks that just don't make
- 6:26Speaker 1: that transition well from the college ranks to the pro ranks.
- 6:31Speaker 1: I wonder if these three guys, you know, maybe fit
- 6:33Speaker 1: that mold perhaps. So I'm wondering which quarterbacks, you know,
- 6:37Speaker 1: whether they are in the top three, top five quarterbacks,
- 6:40Speaker 1: do you think are really going to make that positive
- 6:42Speaker 1: transition over to the NFL.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that those three guys are really the
- 6:48Speaker 2: only ones that I would have in this discussion because
- 6:51Speaker 2: there's a pretty big drop off after those players. There
- 6:54Speaker 2: was a group of guys coming into this season that
- 6:57Speaker 2: had a ton of potential, and some of them had
- 7:00Speaker 2: played well but didn't make the leap necessary to enter
- 7:03Speaker 2: into the discussion, and pretty much all of them are
- 7:06Speaker 2: going back to school. Yeah, the North Sellers, the South
- 7:08Speaker 2: Carolina quarterback, had an awesome Rechert freshman year, and he
- 7:12Speaker 2: struggled a bit this season with less of a supporting cast.
- 7:16Speaker 2: You also had Brendan Sorosby from Cincinnati who did really
- 7:19Speaker 2: well and took the leap, but not enough to really
- 7:22Speaker 2: solidify himself as a first rounder. He could end up
- 7:25Speaker 2: doing that in the portal this year, going to a
- 7:27Speaker 2: Big ten program, a SEC program, the right offense to
- 7:31Speaker 2: be on the national stage like Fernana Mendoza just did.
- 7:34Speaker 2: He could also enter the NFL draft, that was part
- 7:36Speaker 2: of his announcement, but it doesn't seem like that's particularly
- 7:41Speaker 2: likely because he's gonna make a lot of money in
- 7:43Speaker 2: the portal and he'll get a chance to boost his
- 7:45Speaker 2: draft stock overall. And then Josh Hoover was another guy
- 7:48Speaker 2: who I was really intrigued by, who I thought showed
- 7:51Speaker 2: signs and really showed what his arm talent was like
- 7:55Speaker 2: at TCU. But he's jumping in the portal and he's
- 7:58Speaker 2: also somebody that could be a riser for the twenty
- 8:00Speaker 2: twenty seven class that like middle class of quarterbacks doesn't exist.
- 8:05Speaker 2: And I think it's like a phenomenon that we're now
- 8:07Speaker 2: seeing in the NFL Draft, where these guys that have
- 8:09Speaker 2: eligibility that maybe we're considering entering, it makes more sense
- 8:15Speaker 2: for them to return, take the money, try and improve,
- 8:18Speaker 2: and at the very worst, you're you're getting an extra
- 8:20Speaker 2: paycheck before you jump to the league, and you're actually
- 8:23Speaker 2: gonna probably be making less money as a mid to
- 8:26Speaker 2: late round pick. The three guys, though, I don't think
- 8:29Speaker 2: it's a necessary, foregone conclusion that Tys Simpson declares. From
- 8:32Speaker 2: my understanding, he's got an extra year of eligibility. If
- 8:35Speaker 2: he finishes things strong, maybe he pulls out the upset
- 8:39Speaker 2: against Indiana, or he just a really good final game.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Maybe he ends up deciding like, hey, I'm I can
- 8:44Speaker 2: be a top ten pick. There's not a lot of options.
- 8:47Speaker 2: There's a lot of quarterback desperate teams. Someone's going to
- 8:49Speaker 2: take a swing on me. Dante More and Fana Mendoza
- 8:52Speaker 2: are going to be really interesting to pay attention to,
- 8:54Speaker 2: though for the next, you know, the coming weeks. I
- 8:58Speaker 2: think that it's gonna come down to what a team
- 9:01Speaker 2: values more. Do they want Mendoza, who's a little bit
- 9:05Speaker 2: more ready to go right now, who's played more, who's
- 9:07Speaker 2: a little bit older, who's got just like a tremendous
- 9:11Speaker 2: natural feel for the game. Reminds me a lot of
- 9:14Speaker 2: Matt Ryan the way that he plays. If they're looking
- 9:17Speaker 2: for that type of a guy that they want to
- 9:18Speaker 2: jump in right off the bat, they're going to go
- 9:20Speaker 2: with Mendoza.
- 9:21Speaker 3: If they want to go with somebody who's a little
- 9:23Speaker 3: bit more.
- 9:23Speaker 2: I don't want to call him developmental because I think
- 9:25Speaker 2: that Dante More could play really well early on, but
- 9:27Speaker 2: he's twenty years old. He's got one full season as
- 9:31Speaker 2: a full time starter, and he looked phenomenal this year
- 9:33Speaker 2: at Oregon, but there is still some growth to be had,
- 9:37Speaker 2: and his ceiling is significantly higher because he's so young,
- 9:41Speaker 2: he hasn't really even come close to what he could
- 9:44Speaker 2: fully become. So it comes down to the value there
- 9:46Speaker 2: for teams and what they're looking for if they're looking
- 9:50Speaker 2: to get somebody who's a little bit more higher upside,
- 9:53Speaker 2: or if they're looking for somebody that's maybe a.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Little bit more higher floor like Mendoza.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Yeah, it's going to be interesting to watch for sure
- 9:59Speaker 1: what happens, because I mean, we see it all the time.
- 10:01Speaker 1: There are certain college quarterbacks that don't necessarily get their
- 10:04Speaker 1: due during the combine process and during the you know,
- 10:09Speaker 1: the weeks and months before the NFL draft, and then
- 10:13Speaker 1: somehow they just come out and come on strong once
- 10:16Speaker 1: they get to the league, once they have a great
- 10:17Speaker 1: relationship with a coach that just manifests their talent. It's
- 10:21Speaker 1: going to be really interesting to see in the years
- 10:22Speaker 1: to come what happens with this particular quarterback draft class
- 10:25Speaker 1: of twenty twenty six. But you know, we talk about
- 10:29Speaker 1: quarterbacks how important they are to the game. Something we
- 10:32Speaker 1: talk about on this podcast platform a ton is offensive linemen.
- 10:36Speaker 1: And if you don't have a strong offensive line, you're
- 10:39Speaker 1: not going to be able to do anything in the
- 10:40Speaker 1: National Football League where it's running the ball, passing the ball,
- 10:43Speaker 1: pass pro whatever it is like, you are not going
- 10:46Speaker 1: to be able to do anything. So there are so
- 10:48Speaker 1: many teams in the NFL that desperately need strong offensive
- 10:53Speaker 1: lines if the quarterback and the running backs are really
- 10:55Speaker 1: going to make a difference in the future. A few teams, Browns, Raiders, Vices,
- 11:00Speaker 1: they all have horrendous offensive lines likely going to be
- 11:03Speaker 1: trying to draft some young talent to help protect their
- 11:05Speaker 1: quarterbacks and help the rushing attack as well. So, Joe,
- 11:09Speaker 1: I'm wondering which offensive linemen are possibly going to maybe
- 11:13Speaker 1: be that next Lane Johnson, the next Penny Sewell, or
- 11:16Speaker 1: even Joe Thuni in this upcoming draft class. What are
- 11:19Speaker 1: your thoughts here?
- 11:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't really actually think that there's really that
- 11:23Speaker 2: type of a prospect in this year's class. There's not
- 11:26Speaker 2: really a guy who's going to be a premier, elite
- 11:30Speaker 2: player that steps right in and is going to be
- 11:33Speaker 2: I think that there's a really good offensive line group
- 11:35Speaker 2: where you could get some really solid starters. I think
- 11:38Speaker 2: that ultimately a lot of these guys are going to
- 11:40Speaker 2: come off the board to the middle to the end
- 11:42Speaker 2: of the first round. Somebody could rise just from pure need.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Because offensive linemen, as you talked about, are important, but
- 11:48Speaker 2: there was not really a premier lineman that really revealed himself.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Caleb Lomu and Spencer Fano from Utah or two guys
- 11:58Speaker 2: that lead the discussion.
- 12:00Speaker 3: There were the two tackles as Utah this year.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Both put out some really good tape, but I think
- 12:04Speaker 2: have some refinement needed. Fano, for me, is the higher
- 12:08Speaker 2: rated player. I think that he's the better athlete of
- 12:11Speaker 2: the two. I think that he's shown really good mobility
- 12:14Speaker 2: and he's just that perfect mold for a right tackle,
- 12:16Speaker 2: works really well on double teams, but needs to finish
- 12:20Speaker 2: filling out his frame. Lomu had a really good twenty
- 12:23Speaker 2: twenty four season, and I didn't love his twenty twenty
- 12:26Speaker 2: five tape as much.
- 12:27Speaker 3: He just didn't look as fluid.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Something seems a little bit off on top of this,
- 12:31Speaker 2: though that if we're looking at some of the other prospects.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Francis Malinoa from Miami is a guy that I'm really
- 12:37Speaker 2: intrigued by, and it wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't
- 12:39Speaker 2: end up becoming one of the biggest risers in this class.
- 12:43Speaker 2: He's the one of the tackles for Miami. He could
- 12:46Speaker 2: end up playing in at guard or at tackle, depending
- 12:48Speaker 2: on what teams value for what they're looking for. But
- 12:51Speaker 2: I think that he's got such just stoutness, a really
- 12:54Speaker 2: powerful anchor. He does everything right that you're looking for
- 12:58Speaker 2: for alignment that can check multiple boxes. Then there's just
- 13:01Speaker 2: ultimately a lot of guys that have question marks, like
- 13:03Speaker 2: Katon Proctor. I don't know if he declares, but his
- 13:06Speaker 2: tape's really consistent. He's extremely heavy. It feels like he's
- 13:09Speaker 2: a little bit too heavy. If he was a lot lighter,
- 13:11Speaker 2: I think that he'd be viewed a little bit differently
- 13:14Speaker 2: because it impacts his ability to redirect and to recover.
- 13:18Speaker 2: And I'll throw in your Connor lou the center from Auburn,
- 13:20Speaker 2: is a really gifted prospect, but he suffered a serious
- 13:23Speaker 2: injury in the middle of the season. That's probably gonna
- 13:25Speaker 2: bump him later in this class, But he would have
- 13:28Speaker 2: been somebody I would have taken in the first round
- 13:29Speaker 2: because he's just that phenomenal of a center prospect.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Again, folks, we're talking to Joe da Leone from A
- 13:36Speaker 1: to Z Sports. Head on over to a to z
- 13:38Speaker 1: sports dot com and also make sure that you are
- 13:40Speaker 1: checking out the Raffino and Joe Show college football analysis.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Tons of it on that podcast show. Great great show,
- 13:50Speaker 1: and Joe, why don't you tell everybody where they can
- 13:52Speaker 1: find you on the socials out there if they want
- 13:53Speaker 1: to get in touch with you.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Yeah, he can catch me on x at Joe de
- 13:57Speaker 2: Leone and of course go and check Outrafino and Joe
- 14:00Speaker 2: Show on YouTube. We're posting getting close to thirty thousand subs,
- 14:05Speaker 2: so we're almost there.
- 14:06Speaker 3: But yeah, you can go check that out. Rafino Joe
- 14:08Speaker 3: Show very well worth it.
- 14:09Speaker 1: If you're watching us on YouTube, like and subscribe to
- 14:11Speaker 1: the Philadelphia Sports Table podcast show. Share our podcast with
- 14:15Speaker 1: your friends and family that may be Philly sports fans
- 14:17Speaker 1: sports fans in general. We don't just dive into Philly sports,
- 14:21Speaker 1: we dive into the sports world in general. So that
- 14:24Speaker 1: being said, we are going to take a break really quick.
- 14:26Speaker 1: We'll be back in just a bit with more college
- 14:28Speaker 1: football talk. All right, We're back with our good buddy
- 14:32Speaker 1: Joe dal Leone from A to Z sports dot Com
- 14:35Speaker 1: and also the Rafino and Joe Show, great podcast that
- 14:39Speaker 1: dives into the world of college football. As we're moving
- 14:43Speaker 1: along with a discussion here, Joe, I want to talk
- 14:45Speaker 1: about the defense in particular because I know that you
- 14:48Speaker 1: specialize in evaluating the linebacker position leading up to every
- 14:53Speaker 1: NFL draft and I find it interesting so as an
- 14:57Speaker 1: Eagles fan, as a Philly sports fan again fan here,
- 15:00Speaker 1: it's been baffling over the years. How just up until
- 15:04Speaker 1: about two seasons ago, the Eagles front office just never
- 15:07Speaker 1: prioritized the linebacker position. Then we get one Zach bond
- 15:12Speaker 1: won Na, Kobe Dean, Jihad Campbell this past year in
- 15:16Speaker 1: the draft, and it's like, oh, yeah, the linebacker position
- 15:19Speaker 1: is pretty freaking important in this league. And we see
- 15:22Speaker 1: how much success the Eagles have had in terms of
- 15:24Speaker 1: their not just their linebacker corps, but how it's affected
- 15:27Speaker 1: their defense in general. They've been dominant as of late.
- 15:31Speaker 1: That being said, I'm wondering, which linebackers coming out of
- 15:34Speaker 1: college this year do you think are really going to
- 15:36Speaker 1: be some difference makers and even game changers in the
- 15:40Speaker 1: NFL from the evaluation that you've done thus.
- 15:42Speaker 2: For Yeah, the three guys that are again Gardner a
- 15:45Speaker 2: lot of attention in the first round. Two guys that
- 15:48Speaker 2: are clear off ball linebackers. Sunny Styles from Ohio State's
- 15:52Speaker 2: a freakish athlete converted defensive back. He's just unreal with
- 15:56Speaker 2: the space that he can cover because of his length six.
- 15:59Speaker 3: Four all over the, field he's going to be somebody who.
- 16:02Speaker 2: Tests at an unreal level at THE Nfl combine and
- 16:05Speaker 2: he's my highest rated linebacker at the current moment because of.
- 16:07Speaker 3: THAT. Cj allen is much more compact From.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Georgia, he's you, know your truly inside backer that's got ridiculous.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Instincts not going to be as twitchy As Sonny styles,
- 16:17Speaker 2: is but he's going to test pretty. Well AND i
- 16:20Speaker 2: think that he's somebody who shows he's got a really
- 16:22Speaker 2: underrated power that he can generate in short areas where
- 16:26Speaker 2: he can evade and then also take on blockers with
- 16:28Speaker 2: ease while making plays at the line of. Scrimmage and
- 16:31Speaker 2: then the one guy WHO i almost don't even want
- 16:33Speaker 2: to characterize him as a. LINEBACKER i think that he's
- 16:36Speaker 2: just like a weapon and he's going to be a
- 16:39Speaker 2: deployable depending on the defensive coordinator that gets, him and
- 16:42Speaker 2: THAT'S Rvl reese From Ohio.
- 16:44Speaker 3: State he's played off ball this.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Year he stepped into a big role In Matt patricia's,
- 16:48Speaker 2: defense And, patricia being a FORMER nfl defensive, coordinator capitalized
- 16:52Speaker 2: on his rare athletic skill set where you know he's
- 16:55Speaker 2: playing from, depth but he's also blitzing in the. Interior
- 16:58Speaker 2: he's also coming off the as a pass. Rusher he's
- 17:01Speaker 2: got a lot Of Micah parsons in, him BUT i
- 17:03Speaker 2: think that he's a better linebacker off ball Than Micah
- 17:06Speaker 2: parsons was when he jumped into the league and when
- 17:09Speaker 2: The cowboys tried to use him in that. MANNER i
- 17:12Speaker 2: think That reese is the type of player who goes
- 17:14Speaker 2: in the top, five could maybe go in the top,
- 17:16Speaker 2: three should be the first prospect off the board.
- 17:18Speaker 3: That's not a quarterback that would be a game.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Wrecker it just depends on what team he lands, on
- 17:23Speaker 2: because you, know if he goes on a team that's
- 17:25Speaker 2: really bad and they're calling on him to do too,
- 17:28Speaker 2: much maybe his impact isn't seen for a couple of.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Years but he is a, crazy crazy athlete and one
- 17:33Speaker 2: that should be transformative for a.
- 17:35Speaker 1: FRANCHISE i can't wait to see what this linebacker group
- 17:38Speaker 1: is going to do coming out of this, draft, too
- 17:40Speaker 1: BECAUSE i think more and, more even though THE nfl
- 17:42Speaker 1: yes is a passing league and in more of an offensive,
- 17:45Speaker 1: league past couple of, seasons we've seen so many defenses step,
- 17:49Speaker 1: up And i'm not sure offense certainly has the impact
- 17:53Speaker 1: that has had and will continue to. Have but defenses
- 17:56Speaker 1: are really starting to understand and figure out the offenses
- 18:01Speaker 1: in THE. Nfl SO i want TO i want to
- 18:04Speaker 1: continue talking about some some defensive prospects with, You, joe
- 18:08Speaker 1: AND i know The eagles. Are they're going to be
- 18:10Speaker 1: looking as well as other teams to add some defensive
- 18:14Speaker 1: linemen in this coming draft as they look to bolster
- 18:17Speaker 1: their pass rush interior defensive linemen as. Well in, FACT
- 18:20Speaker 1: i think a lot of teams are going to try
- 18:22Speaker 1: to really try to find that next diamond in the
- 18:25Speaker 1: rough and diamond in the, haystack kind of like The
- 18:27Speaker 1: eagles honestly have done over the years with a number
- 18:30Speaker 1: of players Like Moro jomo to name one in. Particular
- 18:35Speaker 1: i'm wondering which edge rushers would you you may have already,
- 18:39Speaker 1: started have you been keeping your eyes on as we
- 18:42Speaker 1: look at some of these edge prospects?
- 18:43Speaker 2: Here, yeah the the edge guys in this class a
- 18:47Speaker 2: bit of an underwhelming group as.
- 18:49Speaker 3: WELL i think outside Of, reese there's to me.
- 18:51Speaker 2: Not really like a you, know a crazy you, know
- 18:54Speaker 2: clear cut, like, hey this guy's gonna step right in
- 18:56Speaker 2: and he's going to be a game. WRECKER i think
- 18:58Speaker 2: it's going to be a circumstance. Space But keldric falk
- 19:01Speaker 2: from From auburn is somebody who's going to get a
- 19:03Speaker 2: lot of. Attention he's, big, long, physical powerful guy WHO
- 19:07Speaker 2: i think that might benefit from bulking up and transitioning
- 19:11Speaker 2: to more of a three to four end instead of
- 19:13Speaker 2: being a four to three defensive. End if he does
- 19:15Speaker 2: need to go that, route he's probably gonna need to.
- 19:17Speaker 3: Lose a little bit.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Weight lose a little bit of weight because he was
- 19:19Speaker 2: listed at over two. Eighty on top of, this, though
- 19:22Speaker 2: Ruben bain's been a bit of a controversial prospect because
- 19:27Speaker 2: he's not a very big. Athlete he's got a very
- 19:32Speaker 2: limited length that is below the requisite length that you
- 19:36Speaker 2: look for in edge. RUSHERS i think for, me he
- 19:40Speaker 2: reminds me a lot Of Collijah, kantsey who was a
- 19:43Speaker 2: really dynamic three tech who's on the lighter, side similar
- 19:46Speaker 2: size of just.
- 19:47Speaker 3: An inch shorter than than Ruben, bain and his like
- 19:52Speaker 3: his ability just to upend interior offensive. Lineman it's get underneath,
- 19:56Speaker 3: them but also being too quick for them to keep
- 19:58Speaker 3: up with is what make can't To canty dangerous AND
- 20:01Speaker 3: i think That bain is going to be able to
- 20:03Speaker 3: do that as. Well but there's gonna be a lot
- 20:05Speaker 3: of figuring out with this this edge, class because you
- 20:08Speaker 3: got Cash Is, howell who's not like a particularly long,
- 20:10Speaker 3: guy but he's super you, know shifty and. Explosive and
- 20:14Speaker 3: Our Mason thomas From oklahoma was a little bit banged
- 20:17Speaker 3: up this, year but he's also a you, know a
- 20:19Speaker 3: super twitchy guy who's got a lot of. Talent there
- 20:22Speaker 3: is gonna be a bit of a feeling out, PERIOD
- 20:24Speaker 3: i think over the next couple of months where we're figuring, Out,
- 20:26Speaker 3: okay who are the some of the other edge guys
- 20:28Speaker 3: that are worth Going yeah at the end of the
- 20:30Speaker 3: first round or early in the.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Second, yeah all, right well, buddy BEFORE i let you,
- 20:34Speaker 1: go we always like talk sleepers, here and whenever we're
- 20:38Speaker 1: doing draft talk year after, year we'd love talking sleepers.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Here and it may be a little premature to talk about,
- 20:44Speaker 1: it but it's still.
- 20:44Speaker 3: Fun oh, wondering.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Are there a few prospects that you would consider to
- 20:49Speaker 1: be sleepers in this upcoming draft or guys that you're
- 20:51Speaker 1: really keeping your eyes on?
- 20:52Speaker 3: Here?
- 20:53Speaker 2: Yeah admittedly very because we're again your as you're saying,
- 20:56Speaker 2: here we're In. December i've been doveing into enough tape
- 21:00Speaker 2: to like really find one of those sleepers. Hip but
- 21:02Speaker 2: the one guy That i'm intrigued By Cole payton From
- 21:05Speaker 2: North Dakota, state, who LIKE i don't think that he's
- 21:07Speaker 2: going to be a STARTING nfl, quarterback but this year
- 21:12Speaker 2: In North Kota, state he was a wrecking. Ball, ye
- 21:15Speaker 2: he was a bit up and down this, year but
- 21:17Speaker 2: he is a physical specimen and he's gonna get a
- 21:19Speaker 2: lot of attention during the, postseason or not the, postseason
- 21:24Speaker 2: The All star.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Circuit but he IS i don't know if he's purely
- 21:28Speaker 3: going to play quarterback in THE.
- 21:29Speaker 2: NFL i don't know if maybe he's somebody that teams
- 21:31Speaker 2: look at and, say let's try this guy out at tight,
- 21:33Speaker 2: End let's turn him into Our Taysom hill or something
- 21:35Speaker 2: along those. Lines but he is really unique to, me
- 21:39Speaker 2: coming from the lower, levels for the impact that he
- 21:41Speaker 2: was able to.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Provide, yeah all, right, well great discussion, here. Folks, again
