- 0:00I'm Alexandra. I am Lynn.
- 0:02I'm Rose and this is Sid happens.
- 0:05We wanted to just give you a heads up, this podcast is all
- 0:08for fun and entertainment. We are sharing our own.
- 0:11Thoughts and stories? Not professional advice, so
- 0:14relax, enjoy and don't take us too seriously.
- 0:18Let's get this started. Welcome to Sid happens.
- 0:22What's in your cup today? I actually just finished my
- 0:26decaf sheet, so I probably along our little chat here, here, I
- 0:30have to get a refill. How about you, Rosie?
- 0:33I'm having a protein shake for my dinner.
- 0:35I'm obsessed with the premier coffee.
- 0:38You guys have the Premier Protein.
- 0:40No, I do like that flavor the. Coffee one, Yes, the hubby
- 0:43doesn't like it. It's a little strong but my
- 0:46hubby doesn't like it either because he says there's an after
- 0:48taste. Do you mix it with anything?
- 0:50I don't. I see people mixing it with
- 0:52coffee. Yes, but I've tried it.
- 0:54I don't know, maybe I don't have the ratio right.
- 0:56It's just been off. You have to get the ratio right,
- 0:59But I use it. It's more like it's my Creamer
- 1:02into the coffee because then I don't add anything else.
- 1:04But I'm getting protein because remember, I'm in my fitness era.
- 1:07So protein is my it's my game. I like that one in the caramel.
- 1:11The salted caramel is really. Good.
- 1:12I don't think I've tried that one, but I was going to ask if
- 1:15you liked any other brands. My theory though, I told this to
- 1:18my husband this week. If it tastes good, is it really
- 1:21healthy? I question that.
- 1:24Protein shake but it is good and I refuse to read the ingredients
- 1:28list. I sell protein.
- 1:30Good luck, my friend. You're gonna read it.
- 1:32Good luck. It's delicious.
- 1:34It's really good. What am I?
- 1:35Drinking. Yes.
- 1:36What are you drinking? Yes, I made you a decaf iced
- 1:40latte with caramel. It's delicious.
- 1:44That's why I was like, wait a minute, is this decaf?
- 1:46Because I do just a little bit of coffee but I don't feel the
- 1:48coffee vibe. So it's decaf.
- 1:50Decaf that is safe. I like it.
- 1:52It's been that kind of day. So it's.
- 1:54Really the end of the. Year.
- 1:56It's all like Aaron. Why do we do this to ourselves?
- 2:02The stress all year, I'm like, I'm not going to be stressed.
- 2:05I'm going to do everything, kind of.
- 2:07Plan early because that's my plan and here I am and I have
- 2:10like 0 gifts. Why do we do this to ourselves?
- 2:13Don't know. And yeah, so I think, I think
- 2:16this ties right into a topic for today about reset before 2026.
- 2:22I feel like in terms of goals, I think I've accomplished quite a
- 2:27bit and probably surprised myself because it happened live.
- 2:33Guys, Can you believe this? Like this is happening?
- 2:35We've talked about this and this is what, 6th, 7th episode?
- 2:40Like it happened really quickly though, like we're going to do
- 2:42this and within a few weeks, like everything was going
- 2:45forward. Does that make sense versus
- 2:46like, oh, this is an idea, let's sit on it for a while?
- 2:49We sat on it for a while because I feel like we talked about this
- 2:52over summer. We all work.
- 2:54We already knew the date was going to be October launch,
- 2:57right? But I think because of that, and
- 2:59I'm so glad we're stuck with it. I'm like, October is not going
- 3:03to be here. I have time.
- 3:04And then October showed up and we're like, wait a minute and
- 3:09here we are. And The funny thing if you think
- 3:11about it is we didn't even really got together as a unit
- 3:17until April. Yes, if you think about that
- 3:21April, my birthday was in the March and we got together.
- 3:23I think it was the 1st of April or something to have our PJ
- 3:28party grown up PJ party or spa. I think it was like beauty is.
- 3:35But I was inspired by you, Alexander.
- 3:37You are the one who kind of instilled it in me to take care
- 3:41of myself. Like yeah, let's let's do face
- 3:43mask. It was the first night I met
- 3:48you, Rosie. But yeah, like, that was April.
- 3:51And then I think we just click. We just, I don't know.
- 3:55You know how you meet some people and you have conversation
- 3:58and you plan things out, especially as moms sometimes
- 4:01think things falls through the crack or you're like, yeah,
- 4:03let's see it again. And it's been 3 months and it
- 4:05hasn't happened and you're like crap life happened.
- 4:08But I feel like with us, we understood.
- 4:10And I think because we're also neighbors and friends and we're
- 4:13texting each other, maybe that accountability helped us a lot.
- 4:16Because before we knew it was like June or something.
- 4:19We talked about vacation and then we kind of mapped out this
- 4:22whole State Happens podcast. So I'm, I'm proud of us.
- 4:26We're doing the thing, guys. We're doing it.
- 4:28I think location, location, locations are on our side
- 4:32because we're in such close proximity that it just makes
- 4:36sense. Even spontaneous recordings.
- 4:40Get togethers. To jump to somebody's house
- 4:43because it's. Kind of.
- 4:43Quite of coordination to get, you know, husbands out of that,
- 4:48out of the space or the children, are they asleep?
- 4:51And we have different schedules. It's really, it's really hard to
- 4:55coordinate, but we're making it work.
- 4:58So that's True's dedication, I'm thinking.
- 5:00About what you said about when you started going to the gym,
- 5:03it's also about making it work. We are in close proximity, but
- 5:07we're also very intentional of our schedules and this works.
- 5:11So we're always talking about it.
- 5:12What works best for you? When we come to an agreement and
- 5:15we have certain days and times, that works.
- 5:17Best, right? I feel like that's the first
- 5:19step because if we leave it like up in the.
- 5:20Air, she'll never happen. Yeah.
- 5:22That's my thoughts about it, but definitely helpful that we are
- 5:26very close, but the intention we just clicked and the intention
- 5:29stay here, let's go, let's go for it.
- 5:32We're also very easy going. Yes, we.
- 5:34Are very flexible and I think that helps too because it's like
- 5:38we come with a topic or something trending and we're
- 5:41just, we're just slow. So I like the vibe.
- 5:44So those are the things I hope to carry into 20262025.
- 5:49Feel personally, it's been challenging with top of the
- 5:54life. You know, man, that postpartum
- 5:56really kicked my butt the second time around.
- 5:58I'll tell you that with the mom brain and trying to accommodate
- 6:03with like a new schedule and planning vacations and working
- 6:07full time because I do travel sometimes for work, I travel
- 6:10quite a bit in the springtime. Not that I'm thinking about it,
- 6:14but it was nice because I got to see some family.
- 6:16I got to visit my brothers and visit my nephews.
- 6:19I just came back from visiting my best friend.
- 6:21So those are little things that fills my cup.
- 6:24Like I was able to accomplish all of those things.
- 6:26But there are some things that I'm like like that exhaustion,
- 6:29that not sleeping enough and that poor planning or the time
- 6:34management that I had to let go of because you know me when it
- 6:38comes to time management, everything is planned out and it
- 6:40needs to go that way. But I had to let go of that
- 6:43quite a bit, taking me out of my comfort zone.
- 6:46So we'll see. I don't know if that's a
- 6:47permanent thing, but as of right now, it's working for my family
- 6:51because man, everything revolves around toddlers time right now
- 6:54because it's like is, is, is it bedtime?
- 6:57Is it not time? Is it food time?
- 6:59Are we eating dinner? Like all of those things needs
- 7:01to be checked off the list before I can fully function.
- 7:03So I think when we're talking about resetting, those are the
- 7:07things, the key things that pops into mind of like things I wanna
- 7:10leave behind and what I wanna carry into 2026, which is this
- 7:15beautiful friendship. You should give yourself a lot
- 7:18more grief. But when I look at you, I'm
- 7:21thinking I have a say it. Well, mom and I juggle a lot and
- 7:26I look at you. You work full time, you're doing
- 7:29side hustles. You'll have to under four small
- 7:33children, a husband who's going to school at the same time.
- 7:36I'm like, I don't know how they do it because I don't have that
- 7:39much on my plate. And mine is always kind of
- 7:42tumbling over and things are spilling.
- 7:44Oh look, don't you? Worry it still tumbles.
- 7:46One of the things I'll say I'm proud of for 2025 is this whole
- 7:52fitness journey because like I said, postpartum was different
- 7:58the second time around and I I remembered one of my goal for
- 8:03the year was when Oliver starts school, I wanted to start going
- 8:08to the gym and I'm happy to say that it's still happening.
- 8:12I'm so proud of. I.
- 8:13Am so proud that I, you know, the discipline in my 20s.
- 8:17I guess it's paying off finally. I'm, I'm doing the work.
- 8:22I definitely want to bring that momentum in 2026, but I do.
- 8:27I don't want to be those people either.
- 8:28That's so obsessed with the gym. It's OK to have a cookie, it's
- 8:34OK to eat, you know, enjoy some food time or self-care time with
- 8:39your friends. Enjoy the birthdays and don't
- 8:42get the whole cake but have a slice, have the icing or
- 8:45something you know? I mentioned it and I like the
- 8:49thought process. Like you're not going to ruin in
- 8:51two to three weeks what you've done the whole year.
- 8:54And that's not a mindset that I've had for a long time because
- 8:57of the perfectionism. Yeah.
- 8:59Like, it has to be perfect. No, I can't do this.
- 9:01I can't do that. But the take away that I've
- 9:03taken from you, your fitness journey is find what works.
- 9:06Yes, and stick to it. And it won't be perfect.
- 9:09There are days that you won't go, and it's OK.
- 9:12My mindset has been all or nothing for a very long time.
- 9:15And that's what I've been working on this year.
- 9:18I've had some progress and I definitely want to continue
- 9:20going forward because for me, I've started.
- 9:24I signed up for the gym at the beginning of the year because
- 9:26that's when most of us do. The gym is full in January and
- 9:30then people fall off in February, March.
- 9:32And that's exactly what happened.
- 9:33I stopped going abroad in April. And I told you guys, stop paying
- 9:36it right, because I'm going to go.
- 9:38Yeah, I just can't. Have yourself that.
- 9:40Can't find the right time until I finally realize I'm not going
- 9:42to go. And I cancelled it and I started
- 9:45working out about 3 to 4 weeks ago at home.
- 9:48I've had the things there. I almost pushed it out to 2026.
- 9:52It's November. Like it doesn't matter.
- 9:55I'll just start at the beginning of the year and I'm like, no,
- 9:57we're changing that. Yes, there's no perfect time.
- 10:00Then I started and I'm feeling good.
- 10:02I find the time frame that works.
- 10:04That's awesome. I'm also like just giving myself
- 10:07praise. I don't have to work out five
- 10:09days a week, 1-2 hours, right? What I used to do when I was 20.
- 10:14No, we have a life now. Do what works and that's that's
- 10:20mom life, self-care, do all of those.
- 10:22It doesn't have to be complicated.
- 10:24And I think that's what, you know, I tried to share anyway
- 10:27with my friends, with you guys, is that if it's 5 minutes, 10
- 10:31minutes, whatever works, it still counts.
- 10:33It still fills your cup. Progress over perfection, That's
- 10:36what I'm thinking. Did you?
- 10:38See my sticker perfection scratched out.
- 10:41Perfect that. Is my motto going into 2020 so.
- 10:44People always want to wait for the perfect moment and make do a
- 10:49break. But when you can make a change
- 10:51today, even when it comes to meals, when you, you know, binge
- 10:55on something that you shouldn't have, and then you're like, I'll
- 10:57start on Monday. No, don't start.
- 10:58Monday. So start now, yeah?
- 11:01The coffee, remember you were saying you were eating, I think
- 11:03it was sweets in the evening. So instead you started having a
- 11:06big coffee. Definitely Thanksgiving with all
- 11:10the ties in the house. It was not the case.
- 11:13But they're out of the house now so that helps.
- 11:16I need more. Time.
- 11:17Well, as we're wrapping up for 2026, anything we want to leave
- 11:21in 2025? I think it's funny that you
- 11:24always point out that I'm so flexible and so what's the other
- 11:30word that you use? Spontaneous.
- 11:32Yes. I actually, that's one of the
- 11:34things that I want to tune back on because I wing a lot of
- 11:37things. But the goals that I made for
- 11:39myself this year I didn't get to because I was waiting most of
- 11:44the time. I was a registered nurse in
- 11:47Germany and I started the process of getting my license
- 11:50here in Florida, which I got the evaluation and everything done
- 11:57and all I needed to do is just go do a remedial class to get
- 12:02approved to do my NCLEX RN, which is the test, the board
- 12:06test for your registered nurse license.
- 12:09And since I've been just winging it, waiting for the money to
- 12:12come, instead of being like, OK, we're just gonna gonna put the
- 12:15money in there no matter now and leave it in there.
- 12:19Now I've been dipping into the money because things are
- 12:22happening in the house. Things are happening with the
- 12:24car. I think I had four new tires
- 12:27over the like, over the year. But it's hard.
- 12:30You know, you have these goals and you don't get to them.
- 12:33It's like the end of the year. I set that goal for March and
- 12:36now it's like it's December and I haven't done it and I should
- 12:40do it. And it's it's for for my family,
- 12:43right? Everything is getting more
- 12:45expensive. And having a registered nurse
- 12:48paycheck is way better, even if I do it part time.
- 12:52So I need to not wing so much and have certain roles and set
- 12:57them and follow through with them.
- 12:59So I think that's one of the things that would be mind and
- 13:04fear resolution. I'm not being as spontaneous as
- 13:06I have been. In this specific area, yes.
- 13:09OK, I accept. What about you, Rosie?
- 13:11I have also admired Lynn Spontaneity.
- 13:14How do you say? That.
- 13:17So I've been wanting to channel a little bit more of that, being
- 13:19more flexible as I'm moving forward with that, letting go of
- 13:22that perfectionism and being so by the book because I get
- 13:26overwhelmed. So it's like a catch 22.
- 13:28Like I have this perfection, I have this perfect plan, and then
- 13:33I don't follow through with a perfect plan.
- 13:34And then I'm feeling defeated because in the moment I'm
- 13:37feeling overwhelmed. So one thing that I'm practicing
- 13:40is less is more plan for less because that way I can feel
- 13:45happy and proud. And then once I do that, then
- 13:48the next day I compound and I do a little bit more versus in the
- 13:52moment I just kind of freeze. I'm very hard on myself.
- 13:55So that doesn't help either. So I'm just trying to be more
- 13:57flexible. Let's go with the flow with
- 14:00motherhood. It's been hard because I keep
- 14:03going back to just used to be so much easier.
- 14:05So acceptance is something that I also want to bring into 2026.
- 14:09Like this is the reality and I need to stop arguing with
- 14:12reality because that's when I get really upset and nothing
- 14:16good happens. That doesn't create any good
- 14:18result. There were definitely things
- 14:20that went well and I just kind of want to build upon that.
- 14:22Like I said, I started working out like it doesn't have to be
- 14:25on a Monday or at the beginning of the month.
- 14:27I think I started randomly on the 8th or something.
- 14:30I can't remember the date, but it wasn't, it wasn't the 1st of
- 14:33the month. Yeah.
- 14:34And I just did it. Yeah.
- 14:35Let's just keep moving forward with that.
- 14:37It doesn't have to be perfect. So the podcast was something
- 14:40that I had in my mind. Like there's so many projects
- 14:42like you're mentioning that I had in my mind for 2025 that
- 14:46never got done. But it doesn't have to take that
- 14:48much time. You just have to decide and
- 14:50follow through kind of relating those kind of tasks together and
- 14:54be like, let's just take that forward.
- 14:55What do you want to do? And just don't overthink it.
- 14:58Don't overthink it. I like that.
- 15:00I think for me it's just tying back to the whole delegating
- 15:03because I took on a lot this year, a lot.
- 15:09And I think you even mentioned it like that overwhelmed feeling
- 15:13where I just couldn't pinpoint it.
- 15:15Like my mental health, I needed to prioritize that because I
- 15:19just felt so drained and almost like I was getting sick.
- 15:23I think my brain was just. Mental exhaustion.
- 15:25Here's the thing. I was just so burnt out and I
- 15:28couldn't shake it. And usually a day of self-care,
- 15:32you know, I mean. Many.
- 15:34Petty a massage usually does it for me, but I've been struggling
- 15:40lately to get out of it, get out of that fuck.
- 15:43And now that I'm verbalizing it, I'm realizing it.
- 15:46I have been in that fuck for a while and I'm not really sure
- 15:49what it is. So I want to leave that in 2025
- 15:53and start fresh in 2026. In the sense of reach out to my
- 15:59village and, you know, delegate to my husband.
- 16:03He can't help with the kids. I don't have to do everything
- 16:07myself. I like that.
- 16:09I'm like, I want to be at the end where I come home and
- 16:11everybody's fine. Everybody's alive.
- 16:16And that freak out because I have to be gone for two or three
- 16:19days, you know, of course I want to be close to my family, but
- 16:22that whole plenty. It just takes a lot.
- 16:24It drains a lot out of me. So that's one of the things I'm
- 16:28looking forward to work on for my 2026 goal.
- 16:32The 2025 was definitely a learning curve.
- 16:35So to our listeners, my reminder would be to pause, allow
- 16:42yourself to pause and reflect, and figure out the things you
- 16:47need to leave in 2025 and the rest, Let's carry it with us in
- 16:522026. Now we want to hear from you.
- 16:55What are you leaving in 2025 and carrying into 2026?
- 17:00Remember to pause, reflect, and carry on the things that fuel
- 17:03you and take progress over perfection.
