- 0:00So yeah, my name's my name is canse Wells. I'm the BA player
- 0:03and producer and Dimension This and our songs called Artifacts to Remain. It's it's
- 0:10our first single and we're pretty pretty freaking pumped about it. We've been working
- 0:16working hard to get to this point and yeah, I'm just excited to you
- 0:20know, have the train leave the station. That's good man, Thanks thanks
- 0:25for joining us. Yeah, happy to be here man. Yeah. Right,
- 0:30So, as you said, Dimension This today release your debut track,
- 0:33Artifacts Remains, so you sort of briefly touch of it then, but how
- 0:36you feel about it? Bro? Man, we're all so excited. Hey,
- 0:40Like, you know, we've been we've been working towards this point for
- 0:43a long time, and it's just yeah, we're really to finally be here
- 0:49and be able to put our music out to the world, you know,
- 0:51like really be like, yeah, we're we're here, So we are.
- 0:54This is what we say. I'm like, and you know, it's it's
- 0:57not oh yeah it's coming, it's it's now. Man. It's good.
- 1:03It's good to be able to to be able to say that. So tell
- 1:06us a bit more about the song from a musical point of view and what
- 1:08you're going forward it. Yeah, so I mean to mention this, like
- 1:12our overall sound is, you know, it's like sometimes it's quite prog,
- 1:19progressive and ambient and nice, and then on the other side of the spectrum
- 1:23and it's just really brutal and heavy hitting and and we have a little bit
- 1:29of everything between. And you know, we've got quite a few songs written
- 1:33now, but this one we felt was like a good kind of full breadth
- 1:38of the spectrum, if that makes sense. You know, it has a
- 1:42little bit of everything that we're all about, and we felt, you know,
- 1:49yeah, it was it was a good first song for everyone to hear
- 1:51because it really gives them an idea of what the rest of the cattle is
- 1:55going to be work as well. Yeah, so you know, the song
- 2:00musically, you know, starts off nice and nice and ambience and and you
- 2:05know very very theory and big, you know, like cinematic synth work and
- 2:13stuff like that. And then and then there's kind of like, you know,
- 2:17there's like a moment where where it all changes and builds and sort of
- 2:22the kind of main riffs that the song centered around, and and that's when
- 2:27you know things are about to change and then it just gave form metal and
- 2:31and and then it just remains pretty heavy for for the rest of the track.
- 2:38Yeah, and how about lyrically, what story does artifacts remain? Well?
- 2:44Yeah, so so yeah, this is this song's lyrically quite personal to
- 2:51the vocalist, but he gave me a little blur. I said. The
- 2:54songs really about someone yearning to find a better way in the world, but
- 3:00you know, ultimately being unable to to to the echoes of past events.
- 3:06So there's a mixture of frustration and determination, but mostly there's like an ultimate
- 3:13surrendering to the inner conflict. And that's yeah, that's what he was trying
- 3:19to get across. And the song was engineered and produced by the band yourselves,
- 3:23mate, Like, what are some of the pros and cons have taken
- 3:25that role on in ows? Yeah, time and pressure, I think,
- 3:34Yeah, it's like like, you know, there's there's some amazing producers out
- 3:38there and and you know working working with them would be would be incredible,
- 3:45But I guess, you know, we just wanted the challenge and also,
- 3:51you know, being our first release, maybe save a bit of a cash
- 3:53as well, and you know we cash and that in stentd it on the
- 3:59film clip which you'll see. But yeah, also like it was a bit
- 4:05of a personal challenge for me too that I wanted to take on because I'm
- 4:11a I'm a dance music producer formerly and have been for about twenty years.
- 4:16So I just wanted that opportunity to you know, give mixing the bound to
- 4:21go and yeah, really dive in and learn at the same time. Yeah,
- 4:30I was sort of touched on us a little bit before. But it
- 4:32is artifacts remain indicative of the sound of Dimensionless or is it just little one
- 4:38side of a what do you expect? Like I said before, I think
- 4:43it's a good kind of yeah, indicator of our sonic spectrum. But we
- 4:49definitely have more progressive songs, and we definitely have more like you know,
- 4:57modern metalcore and just straight up heavy acts with you know yeah that are just
- 5:02like brutal. We even have a two minute song which is just blast.
- 5:05It's basically yeah, yeah, yeah, So we really do do a bit
- 5:11of everything, and yeah, we felt we felt this song really showcase or
- 5:17like our sonic palette as a band. So is it a standalone single for
- 5:23an hour? Is it part of a bigger EPR album cycle? So Yeah,
- 5:29so it's a standalone single for now. We have a few more singles
- 5:34in the in the pipeline, but we're going to stay out over a couple
- 5:39of months. And you know, now we're just getting out there, you
- 5:46know, seeing what people think, get some feedback, and and yeah,
- 5:51we're gonna like concentrate on playing some shows soon as well. I'm trying it
- 5:58a try and get us onto the stage, which were which we're nearly ready
- 6:02to do. But yeah, I think we should expect another single out in
- 6:10about three months from now, and then maybe a couple of months after that
- 6:14too. So we got like we've got two tracks we want to get out,
- 6:17just not straight away. Yeah. So for those not familiar with Dimension,
- 6:23this makee it gives gives a bit of history about the band. Yeah,
- 6:27so so I've really started like there was three of us, me,
- 6:32Jason drums, and Benny on guitar, and we were just standon for a
- 6:36while. We all just met on Internet, just you know, just looking
- 6:42for people to play with. And and yeah, January last year, we
- 6:47were like, you know what, let's let's go fucking serious. Let's let's
- 6:53really make it a good goal at this and yeah, we had a couple
- 6:59of like couple of good solid demos already, and we're like, all right,
- 7:03we need a we need a vocalist, and we need a second guitarist,
- 7:06and yeah, put the fields out on the face. And I think
- 7:13we've got the full lineup about July last year, and we've just just been
- 7:18working harder since, you know, defining the sound and you know, just
- 7:25writing as much as we can. So yeah, and basically just working working
- 7:30towards this moment pretty much and beyond. Yeah. Now, there's a couple
- 7:36of good quotes in your press release that I want you to expand on a
- 7:40bit for us. Mate. The first one says that Imationalist explores the space
- 7:45that exists at the edge of heavy music. Like that's a beautiful quote,
- 7:48So what what do you mean by that? Cool? Hm hmm, Yeah,
- 7:55I think I think link Link Rotes, which is a second guitarists.
- 8:01I think what he was trying to say was, you know that we're not
- 8:07just like, we don't just want to be kind of generic. We want
- 8:13to you know, and we also don't want to just have one sound like
- 8:18we do cross into other other flavors a lot. Like you're hearing the single,
- 8:26Like there's a lot of like heavy synth work and stuff, and that
- 8:28comes from like a dance music background. And there's a couple of traps of
- 8:33ours that are that are actually quite quite dancy, like they're not like E.
- 8:37D M or anything like that, but you know, they have like
- 8:41they have that feel. And and then yeah, and then there's like,
- 8:50you know, we're trying to like cross pollinate between that kind of how do
- 8:58so I'm just kind of black been trying to think about how Yeah, it's
- 9:03like, yeah, I guess we don't want to just be like, you
- 9:09know, just the heavy bands, Like, we want to include all sorts
- 9:11of flavors that we love from all other you know, types of music.
- 9:18Like you know, we really love heavy bands, but we also love Radiohead
- 9:24and York and you know, hands Zimmer and drum and bass and you know
- 9:28all this other stuff. So we just want to try and bleeding elements from
- 9:35all of our inspirations. And yeah, I guess that in turn makes it
- 9:39sound, you know a little bit different than just like straight up you know,
- 9:45straight up metalcor or you know whatever. Yeah, straight up like technical
- 9:50metal or something like that. And you mentioned our shows before have you got
- 9:54any any books or are you just living? Yeah, so books is yet
- 10:01we do have a lot of you know, we are friends with a lot
- 10:05of other bands are locally and in a state as well, so we're basically
- 10:13we've been concentrating on writing all the material for the set, which is now
- 10:18done. So now it's just practice, practice, practice, and and on
- 10:26the on the newer ones, and then you know, there'll be a point
- 10:28where we're like, yeah, we're ready to go, and we don't know
- 10:33if we're going to join you know, another fans line up or just put
- 10:39on our own show with all of our friends. We don't We don't know
- 10:41exactly it's going to roll yet, but yeah, in the next couple of
- 10:45months will definitely be keen to start getting out there and blowing up some sound
- 10:50systems for sure. Yeah, Cavil, thanks very much for your time.
- 10:54Mate. By the time this comes out, artifacts remain will be out and
- 10:58available for everyone's else So best like with a maiden, let us know when
- 11:01you get a brisbe gig I popped down and sail a
