- 1:16Oh most importantly, join us in the chat.
- 1:19Love that. You're going to do it to me
- 1:28right away. What is this for?
- 1:31What do we have? Oh, you know what this is for?
- 1:35You know what this is for. Tell me if this sounds familiar.
- 1:44Jorge Lopez just got DFA D by the Mets.
- 1:48Apparently he threw his glove. You know, honestly though, good
- 1:51on him dude. Like, you know, somebody's going
- 1:54to pick him up, but what a way to just get out of town.
- 1:57No shot. Absolutely somebody's going to
- 2:01pick him up. Are you kidding me, dude?
- 2:03No shot. He wanted to get out of no, he
- 2:05wanted to get out of Queen. We have we have guys in this
- 2:09league that have abused women. Like he tossed his glove in the
- 2:13crowd. Let spare me that.
- 2:15Nobody's going to be there. That isn't going to be He's not
- 2:18going to pick them up. That combined with the comments,
- 2:21no, he's done. Breaking news Breaking news
- 2:25Jorge Lopez The Cubs and Jorge Lopez are in agreement on a
- 2:29minor league deal, per Will Salmon.
- 2:33This is a classic twist of words.
- 2:37This is a classic. No, I had to jump, right?
- 2:40No, I had to jump. No, I had to jump right into it
- 2:43with the breaking news. This is a pretzel job is what it
- 2:46is. Pretzeling this into something,
- 2:51here's the here's the the known. Did you or did you not say that
- 2:54somebody would would pick him up?
- 2:56You said no, he's done pause. He said absolutely nobody's
- 2:59picking him up. And I said pause, pause.
- 3:02We have, we have wife beaters in this league.
- 3:04You're telling me some guy threw his glove in the stands and
- 3:06nobody's going to pick him up? Pause.
- 3:09That's insane. Was a live reaction moments
- 3:14after it happened. The next day we come to find out
- 3:17that that's not what he actually said.
- 3:21And and then the next day we find out all the stuff happening
- 3:24with his family. No, no, no, yes.
- 3:26And no. I wouldn't have reacted the same
- 3:28way if I knew those things. No, no, no.
- 3:29Yes. And no.
- 3:30He gave, he gave him a chance to double down on it and he doubled
- 3:34downed on it. So you know.
- 3:36What you doubled down on, you stopped over by the mall today,
- 3:39you picked up in Annie Ann's with a little side of cheese cup
- 3:42side of mustard and I don't get. Cheese with cinnamon sugar
- 3:46pretzels. Pretzel the hell out of this
- 3:48thing. Is what you did.
- 3:50I called you. On.
- 3:51Good call on the cinnamon though.
- 3:53For sure. I called you.
- 3:54I called you out for saying that nobody would, nobody in the
- 3:58league would be willing to take a chance on Jorge Lopez.
- 4:02I just had to. I had to address it off
- 4:03yourself. I had to address it.
- 4:06I had to address it off the top. No, you know what I'm going to
- 4:09do? I'm going to Boo you.
- 4:11I'm going to Boo you. I'm going to Boo you.
- 4:13I. Had to dress it off the top.
- 4:16Pretzel, Pretzel. It didn't even like we didn't
- 4:19even have to wait till after the All Star game like Pretzel.
- 4:22We're it's the middle. It's not we're not even
- 4:25officially at the middle of June yet and they've already picked
- 4:27him up. So just wanted to address that
- 4:29before we got into the rest of what we had to talk about
- 4:31tonight. It's ridiculous.
- 4:34Just just acknowledge that you were wrong.
- 4:36No did he did. A live.
- 4:41Another team Did another team pick him up?
- 4:44Yes or no? Answer the question Did another
- 4:46team pick him up? I refuse.
- 4:48I want my lawyer. I'm not answering anything until
- 4:50he's present. Facts don't care about your
- 4:53feelings, Nate. This is well known.
- 4:56The fact is the team picked him up.
- 4:58Speaking of a team picking somebody up, Kevin Biggio headed
- 5:04to the Dodgers. And look, the big question here
- 5:10is can the Dodgers fix Kevin Biggio?
- 5:14To which I say. Now fix Jason Hayward.
- 5:21Yeah, but like what's, what's a, what's a better comp though?
- 5:24Can we look at a like, is it, is it too much of A stretch to say
- 5:27Gavin Lux? Can we can we look at Gavin Lux
- 5:30as a comp here and say, well, what have they really done with
- 5:33Gavin Lux? No Bad comp, Bad comp.
- 5:38More so than Jason Hayward. And not just cause.
- 5:41Not just cause, not just cause. Gavin Lux is white.
- 5:47Yeah, but what are you saying? What are you complete?
- 5:50What are you comparing? What are you comparing exactly?
- 5:53Their ability to fix Gavin Biccio.
- 5:56You look at a guy like Gavin Lux where he's like, oh, there's
- 5:58this promise, there's this ceiling.
- 5:59Well, that. You're saying higher, but you're
- 6:02saying what the Dodgers can do with with, right.
- 6:05I got you. Yeah, I'm saying.
- 6:07I was saying yeah, I was just saying that there.
- 6:09I mean, there's ways of tapping into a guy, there's ways of
- 6:12finding it. I, I want to say yes because
- 6:19there's like enough. I don't think the confidence has
- 6:26dipped that low, you know what I mean?
- 6:31Like Gavin Lux is in a tough spot because it's like you were
- 6:36thrown into the deep end with a lot of pressure right away, then
- 6:39had an injury, then moved away from shortstop because you're
- 6:42your arm doesn't work anymore. That's why I thought Jason
- 6:47Hayward, because it was like you just didn't, you just didn't tap
- 6:55into what you're capable of yet. And maybe that's the case.
- 7:01The other thing is that like, you know, he's only ever been
- 7:04with the Blue Jays. So maybe there's a new voice
- 7:07that can come into the head. You know what I mean?
- 7:11A new, I mean, you're surrounded by you're surrounded by guys
- 7:15that have already been established.
- 7:18Whereas like the Blue Jays, like the rest of your team is like
- 7:21guys you came up with like Buchet and Vlad.
- 7:23And like those guys have been like, hey, we we've now
- 7:27established our name being on this team.
- 7:30You came up with us and you still haven't established
- 7:32yourself. Not that they're saying that,
- 7:34but that's kind of what it feels like.
- 7:37So I feel like the Dodgers might be able to do.
- 7:39I don't know, man, It's annoying.
- 7:42Also, I think this this tells me that I think the Chris Taylor
- 7:52thing is all done. I saw that question being raised
- 7:58a good deal in the last. Yeah, or I guess it was today.
- 8:02Yeah, today, which is a fair question.
- 8:06Yeah, Like it was, I don't see the need for a key K and a Chris
- 8:10Taylor at the same time, you know what I mean?
- 8:16And it seems like key K is, he's obviously younger, he's more
- 8:19athletic, seems like he hits a little bit better more
- 8:23consistently. Nimbiggio has like, proven that
- 8:28he can bounce around a little bit.
- 8:31I, I, I could see something happening, not that I'm like
- 8:35overly excited about the move. I don't, I don't anybody that
- 8:40would have made that move. It just doesn't do anything for
- 8:45me. I'm going to, I'm going to, I'll
- 8:48be honest, I'm going to be open here.
- 8:51I am not overly familiar with like the whole DFA process.
- 9:00Is it like DFA goes through waivers, Dodgers say yes and
- 9:09then they can talk trade and then that trade has to happen
- 9:13within a certain window? Or is it like, if you're the
- 9:18Dodgers, why not let him pass all the way through waivers and
- 9:24then get him for free? Am I getting that right?
- 9:29Like is that the scenario? I mean, if you let them, I mean,
- 9:32you run the risk, you run the risk of other.
- 9:34But sure, let's be honest. If if waivers are anything like
- 9:37any other waivers anywhere else, like whether it's fantasy
- 9:40baseball, football, whatever, I'm going to go ahead and assume
- 9:44the top teams are at the bottom of those waivers, right?
- 9:48Like the worst teams are going to get first dibs, am I right?
- 9:52That, that, I don't know. Like, I don't know.
- 9:54I don't know how's the case. I don't know if the order
- 9:57resets. I don't know if yeah.
- 10:00That's what I that's what I'm going to does.
- 10:02Does it shift at all? But I, I would assume that it's
- 10:05like it's based on record. That's what I would guess.
- 10:10And the Dodgers being who they are doing what they're doing
- 10:12this year, I would assume they're at the bottom of that
- 10:14list. So it's like, were you fearful
- 10:17of who's left? But I don't record wise.
- 10:22Is it just like the? Yankees.
- 10:24And the Phillies. Snagging them, yeah, I, I don't
- 10:27know, I mean it if that's how it, if that's how it pans out,
- 10:31if that's how the process pans out, then yeah, that would be a
- 10:34pretty minimal concern. But it it's also possible that
- 10:37it goes a different way and maybe they just wanted.
- 10:39I don't. Know so you'd have the wow, the
- 10:43Guardians have a better win percentage than the Dodgers.
- 10:47Wow, that's crazy. So everything on Guardians,
- 10:51Orioles, Phillies, Yankees. Again, this is based on if this
- 10:55theory is correct, if that's how that works, which I'm not 100%
- 11:00solid on. I need to we just study up.
- 11:03We just study, study up on that process.
- 11:05But yeah. Probably should have done that
- 11:07before, but whatever. It was a trade nonetheless, the
- 11:09The Blue Jays, in exchange, are receiving right-handed reliever
- 11:14Braden Fisher, who's been both in AA and AAA this year, was a
- 11:20fourth round pick in 18, has 30 KS to 15 walks over 19 innings,
- 11:26and has posted a 568 ERA. So you can I I would venture to
- 11:35assume that the Blue Jays. They're just swap lottery
- 11:38tickets, that's all it is. Yeah.
- 11:44Hey, we're tired of this guy. We're tired of this guy.
- 11:46You down? Let's do it.
- 11:49I'll be honest with you, I'm surprised it took him.
- 11:51I'm surprised it took him this long.
- 11:53I am too. When I saw the numbers, when I
- 11:55saw the tweet about like it first happening this morning, I
- 11:59saw like a career. What was the career OPS?
- 12:04The career OPS was not good. I want to say like 6 something.
- 12:15Career OPS 725 this year is it's at 6:14.
- 12:21Maybe that's what it was, OK. He's slugging what many would
- 12:24consider a a a pretty strong average.
- 12:26He's slugging 291 this year. Who knows, man, I, I can't, I
- 12:33can't sit here and and say it's stupid or crazy or anything.
- 12:36Like you see guys get second chances.
- 12:39You see guys that like, look at Nathan Vivaldi, perfect example
- 12:44of like the Yankees had him, the Marlins had him and and there it
- 12:48just didn't like really click until he moved on.
- 12:52And all of a sudden he gets with the Red Sox and it's like
- 12:54something clicks and he takes off.
- 12:56Like that's that's why these guys kind of bounce around and
- 12:59and find later opportunities in their career.
- 13:03I think he's young enough to where like he still may be
- 13:05coachable. It's in an organization where
- 13:07there's no pressure. You're around like solid,
- 13:11arguably the most solid veterans you could be around as far as
- 13:16hey, like it's all good. We're, you know, pulling the
- 13:18rope in the same direction. Just help us pull it and
- 13:22whatever you give us is whatever you give us.
- 13:26Lottery ticket. Why not?
- 13:29I just I'm trying to jog my memory of like seeing something
- 13:34in any of his any of his play that's like there's something
- 13:39there. Like if you take the last name
- 13:41away, are we? Is this still a thing?
- 13:44Yeah, What are we really looking at here?
- 13:46If you take the name away, yeah, it's a it's a valid question.
- 13:50But to your point though, I feel like I've seen or I, I've heard,
- 13:53I've read, I've seen more this year than I have.
- 13:56I feel like in seasons past or years past, the importance of
- 14:01maybe getting linked up with a different coach, whether it be
- 14:06in in this case, hitting coach, some other guys, maybe
- 14:09defensively there. There are struggles.
- 14:12I've heard a lot of arms relocating to a different
- 14:16organization, getting hooked up with the a different guy or a
- 14:20pitching coach coming to a different team such as Andrew
- 14:24Bailey coming to the Red Sox, revitalizing the well there for
- 14:29a while kind of tapered as of late, but you just get, you get
- 14:34certain, you get certain minds, certain brains in the same room.
- 14:40You never know. In a different setting than
- 14:42maybe they were in last month and you you might get a a much
- 14:46better outcome. So it's, it's possible that
- 14:49happens here. But I mean, I, I guess if, if
- 14:52there was a team, if you're Kevin Biggio did you would hope
- 14:57that this would happen on Yeah, maybe, maybe go out to LA,
- 15:00maybe, maybe figure something out out there.
- 15:02I, I'm not going to, I'm not going to rule it out.
- 15:04I'm not, I'm not writing them off.
- 15:05I'm just to to your point though, we haven't seen much to
- 15:09really latch onto. Up to this point, but also like
- 15:13you got to you got to have the open possibility of like do we
- 15:19get news on some type of injury? Is is a key, is a key, K is it
- 15:26Chris Taylor? Are one of those guys hurting
- 15:28from something and. Well, Max, I know Max Muncie I
- 15:32believe is on IO got an oblique issue or something, but.
- 15:36Like, is something more serious than we and we haven't heard
- 15:38about it yet? I don't know, it's hard to say.
- 15:44It's a valid question. Let's switch gears here.
- 15:49Paul Skeens, we're about a month into his Major League career.
- 15:59Made his debut. That's actually when we were in
- 16:01Nashville. That would have been like May
- 16:0411th, I think. So, yeah, we're about a month.
- 16:07We're about a month into his Major League career.
- 16:10Made a start in Saint Louis last night.
- 16:16Getting my days mixed up last night through 6th and 1/3 most
- 16:21pitches he he's thrown at the Major League level 103 which
- 16:25topped. Of that.
- 16:27I believe his previous season high of 100, 100, yeah, over the
- 16:34Cubs, six in the 3rd innings, 103 pitches.
- 16:41But it was the end to his outing that's got people talking, a
- 16:48standing ovation on the road in Saint Louis.
- 16:54What are your what are, what are we thinking here?
- 16:58I I can see it both ways. I'm not quite sure once we're
- 17:02done with this conversation which way I'm gonna be leaning.
- 17:05But it's interesting. It's really interesting.
- 17:09Tuesday's game, right? Today's Wednesday.
- 17:12Tuesday night, Yeah, in Saint Louis.
- 17:17Six and a third. Five hits, no earned, No walks.
- 17:208 punches. Get to standing.
- 17:28Ovation I think it depends on the teams.
- 17:30I think it depends on there's certain teams that can do this,
- 17:33There's certain teams where you let it slide.
- 17:37Mind you, they're in the same division.
- 17:40I get that. I get that that that's a.
- 17:44That's a very valid point. Yeah, I'd say so.
- 17:53I know you came after them for the postseason.
- 17:59I still haven't let it go. I still haven't let it go.
- 18:01What was that? That was two years ago at this
- 18:03point. It was you.
- 18:04You hold grudges, you really do. The 2022 postseason, I think it
- 18:13was, yeah. Yeah, yeah, I've let that go.
- 18:16I don't hold grudges. I'm a I'm a bigger man.
- 18:18I'm that big. You absolutely are.
- 18:20You're not even going to deny that.
- 18:24I, I mean, come on, man. The best fans.
- 18:28You're calling yourself the best fans in baseball.
- 18:30You're walking out in a postseason game that's not as
- 18:32far from over. Come on.
- 18:34I'm not going to say that I agreed with you then I agreed
- 18:37with you then. I'm not.
- 18:37I'm not freaking out and saying that they're the best teams or
- 18:40the best fans of baseball, but I think they're good baseball
- 18:43fans. I, I, I got a soft spot for, for
- 18:48the Midwestern folk, you know what I mean?
- 18:51The Midwestern folk, they're just, they're good, Hardy
- 18:54people. Real Salt of the earth.
- 18:57The salt of the earth. We talked about the Royals, you
- 19:02know what I'm saying? We talked about like these
- 19:03people, it's just they're out here working their their fingers
- 19:07to the bone. They're just good people, OK?
- 19:10I think, Clark, we've been doing this.
- 19:11We've been doing this podcast a long time and I can't, I can't
- 19:14remember the quote exactly and whether it was you or me that
- 19:17said it, But I, I specifically remember making a quote graphic
- 19:21that talked about the Cardinals fans being the best in baseball.
- 19:26So at one point if I said that at one point, I was a firm
- 19:30believer in that. But I'm still a little hung up
- 19:33on the 2022 postseason that's. All tough and it's it's here's
- 19:37the thing, man, it's like they're not getting to witness
- 19:40the best baseball. Recently it's been pretty tough
- 19:45in the loo. It's been it's been average
- 19:47baseball at best. And maybe they're just a little
- 19:51hungry for some good quality starting pitching.
- 19:55Now, to be fair, our boyfriend of the pod, Miles Michaelis,
- 19:59also diced that night. He did like what's not?
- 20:03Let's not forget that. I just think certain scenarios,
- 20:07OK, It's not a postseason game. Obviously if it's if this
- 20:10happens in a postseason game, I'm I'm vomiting, I'm throwing
- 20:13up into my mouth regular season game.
- 20:16That's a nice quote graphic. Perfect.
- 20:18The Cardinals are, they're just in shambles lately.
- 20:24And I think if you're a baseball fan, and that's what I'm trying
- 20:28to get to, Cardinals fans are not just Cardinals fans.
- 20:32And we can't say that about every team.
- 20:35I think there are absolutely Yankees fans who are just Yankee
- 20:39fans. There are just Houston Astros
- 20:42fans who are just Astros fans. You know what I'm saying?
- 20:44Like I think Cardinals fans are more baseball fans than not.
- 20:52So getting to witness a one one that dices and is in the middle
- 21:01of this hype train is trending. Whatever, whatever the buzzwords
- 21:10you want to use, I kind of get it.
- 21:15I kind of get it. Yeah, I mean, I'm trying really
- 21:18hard to separate the fact that it's Paul Skeens from this
- 21:22situation. But I, I, I, you can't ignore
- 21:28the fact that it's Paul Skeens because in my you can't.
- 21:31Because in my head I'm trying to go, well, if this was any other
- 21:34guy that dies or the Cardinals fans doing this, but it's
- 21:37purely, it's purely because it's Paul Skeens.
- 21:39I get it. But still, even though it's Paul
- 21:43Skeens, it's an interdivision starting pitcher walking off the
- 21:50field. And I've got Cardinals fans
- 21:52tipping their caps. They they cut to one guy.
- 21:55I've watched the video. They they cut to one guy.
- 21:57He's tipping his cap. I'm like, buddy, do you see what
- 22:01logos on your hat? It is a tough look.
- 22:04I I for sure understand that they're 7 1/2 games back man.
- 22:10It's just. I, I look less into their, their
- 22:13struggles right now and more into just the act of, of giving
- 22:23a guy standing ovation. Like to me, I don't care if
- 22:27they're at the bottom of the division.
- 22:28I don't care if they're leading the division.
- 22:31It's just like. I think it's a part of the
- 22:33equation because the people that are going to those games right
- 22:36now are not rooting for their team to go go take this Pennant.
- 22:41You know what I'm saying? I think those are realistic fans
- 22:45who are also baseball fans and they're looking at an
- 22:49opportunity. Like, tell me you wouldn't be
- 22:52excited if you lived in the loo. You're 7 1/2 games back, you're
- 22:56at the bottom of the division and your team sucks, your
- 23:01manager sucks. Your superstars are getting
- 23:03older by the day. And you're like, you know what,
- 23:07I want to go to a game. It's Tuesday night.
- 23:09Who's pitching skeins is here. I'm absolutely going.
- 23:14That's the point I'm trying to put myself in the OK as a Red
- 23:18Sox fan. Like what would it would have to
- 23:20be somebody within division rule the Yankees out 'cause we're not
- 23:22talking like Cardinals, Cubs here.
- 23:24This is, this is Cardinals Pirates, right?
- 23:26So it would be it'd be like if the I mean the the the 1st and
- 23:32easiest thing that comes to mind for me is like if Grayson
- 23:36Rodriguez the OS come to town. Grayson Rodriguez who had a fair
- 23:40amount of hype himself. Not nearly the the same level,
- 23:43but I don't. Think it's a good comp.
- 23:44I don't think it's a good. Who, who else can you can you
- 23:47put in that situation? It has to be a team that's been
- 23:50a punching bag forever. And it's like, it's almost like
- 23:54the Cardinals fans can look at the Pirates and be like, you
- 23:56haven't been a threat in a long time.
- 23:58I'm going to throw you a bone with this standing out.
- 24:01I don't think that that's the math that they're doing in their
- 24:03head as they're standing up, tipping their cap.
- 24:05But I think a comp would have to be like like a if you're a
- 24:10Phillies fan and you and you see a Marlin get drafted 11 and he's
- 24:15a superstar in the making and you get to see a start from him.
- 24:18You know what I'm saying? It's like you've never been a
- 24:20threat to us. We're OK giving you this.
- 24:25I get it. And look, I I have enough
- 24:27self-awareness here to recognize I'm probably getting a little
- 24:29bit more worked up over this than I should be, but it's.
- 24:32I think there's you're not alone.
- 24:33There's a lot of people that are freaking out.
- 24:34About it no, you're right and it but it's it's really just I I
- 24:38think a broader conversation that needs to needs to be taking
- 24:42place right now and it's like, are there no competitive bones
- 24:47in the bodies of baseball people anymore?
- 24:49Are players and fans alike where it's like come on man, I get
- 24:54it's Paul Skeens but channel the appreciation else like in a in a
- 24:59different manner in a different fashion.
- 25:00Like giving the guy standing O as he's walking off your field.
- 25:05It just it, it seems a little odd, that's all.
- 25:08I'm not. I get that.
- 25:09I don't hate Cardinals fans because of it.
- 25:11I just think the ACT in and of itself is a little odd, that's
- 25:14all. I don't fully disagree, I'm just
- 25:17not ready to to burn it down if I.
- 25:21If I was at that game not having a dog in the fight, I'm
- 25:25absolutely I'm going, this is fantastic baseball that I just
- 25:29watched for 6th and a third. I'm absolutely going to.
- 25:33But you have literal Cardinals fans tipping their Cardinal caps
- 25:38birds on bat. Look, man, I don't, I just don't
- 25:40think there's a lot going on in loo right now.
- 25:43I just don't think it, you know, which is which Is the loos any
- 25:46good? Have the balls been bad for a
- 25:48while? They don't.
- 25:49They haven't had the Rams for years now they're just a
- 25:52miserable salt Carrie Underwood, salt of the earth folk.
- 25:56You know what I mean? Like they're.
- 25:58Oh no, that's Nashville. What am I thinking?
- 25:59What am I saying? Yeah, yeah.
- 26:01She's who's that guy? I don't even know if the guy's
- 26:03in the league anymore. The guy she's married to, he's
- 26:05with the Predators, not the Blues.
- 26:06See, they don't even have Carrie Underwood.
- 26:11No, but I guess I guess that's my point, though.
- 26:12It's like there's not much going on in the loo, but here come the
- 26:16Pirates of all teams, and they're going to be what gives
- 26:21us the Entertainment Tonight. It's just it's, it's funny.
- 26:24Like it's odd, it's funny. And depending upon who you root
- 26:28for, could be a little sad. I don't, That's all I'm saying.
- 26:31I get it. I'm with you.
- 26:33That's all I'm saying. 20 questions oh man, Active or
- 26:43retired? Retired Hall of Fame or no Hall
- 26:46of Fame. No Hall of Fame.
- 26:49I hate these outfielder, infielder, outfielder retired.
- 26:56Not Hall of Fame outfielder, MVP or no MVP.
- 27:01No MVP. Righty or lefty?
- 27:06Righty? Both.
- 27:08No or yeah. Yeah, both throw right and hit
- 27:11yeah. Retired.
- 27:13Not Hall of Fame right fielder, centre fielder, left fielder.
- 27:23Left fielder. More than two All Star
- 27:37appearances. Yes, 12.
- 27:42Actually. 12 All Star appearances Left fielder right
- 27:48right retired. Not Hall of Fame.
- 27:53You've you've reached your time limit, so the next question that
- 27:56you ask has to actually be your guess.
- 28:03Just a hint, just a tip. You got to start.
- 28:06You start you. You have to start identifying
- 28:08teams. Quickly, I think I do.
- 28:10I think I do. I think I do.
- 28:11I think. You're less about righty lefty
- 28:14get get thinking on the teams a little bit.
- 28:17K12 time All Star out of left field.
- 28:23Not a Hall of Famer though. This is a mess.
- 28:31Maybe think, you know what, I'm feeling a little generous, maybe
- 28:35think about that possible correlation a little bit, those
- 28:37things that you just said, why would that maybe be the case?
- 28:48Possibly roids? Is that what you're saying I.
- 28:54I just gave you a hint. Your next your next guess has to
- 28:57be or your the next thing that you propose has to be an answer
- 29:06I. Have a name?
- 29:07I just don't think, oh, I got, I got two names, Manny, Manny
- 29:24Ramirez. Hey, that was it.
- 29:27Well done. Thank you.
- 29:28Well done. I I think you gave me some
- 29:30bones. See if there's you single
- 29:32handedly got there because of my Roy's correlation.
- 29:34Sure did. Sure did.
- 29:35But what was the? Other name you had in mind.
- 29:38Soriano, Alfonso Soriano but. OK.
- 29:41Like the second base was a lot in the picture too so.
- 29:44Yeah, yeah. But yeah.
- 29:47How many? I wonder how many All Star
- 29:49appearances he had. Yeah, that was the other one.
- 29:52Too, I didn't get seven. That's that's just I don't think
- 29:56I realized he had that many wow. A.
- 29:57Lot of clubs I just I I had AI had a soft spot in my heart for
- 30:01Alfonso. I like absolutely.
- 30:04Yeah, he's a big. Niece guy, he got the he got
- 30:08some rough treatment getting thrown in the outfield when when
- 30:12it wasn't the move, you know. Yeah, yeah.
- 30:15With like no reason. I don't think there was no there
- 30:18wasn't like any defensive analytics back then.
- 30:20It was just like we're putting you on the left and no one was
- 30:25down to put him back at second after just really weird.
- 30:28Anyhow, Manny my least. Favorite player, grown up.
- 30:33Love it. Well, it should have been Ortiz
- 30:35without question, but I'm not gonna tell you who you're the.
- 30:37Same player should be it was Manny.
- 30:40David Ortiz bugged me, but it was Manny.
- 30:44It was Manny. That's putting that lightly.
- 30:50Ortiz bugged you. He I would venture to say he
- 30:53probably brought you to near tears on multiple occasions.
- 30:56There's probably a few tears, There's probably a few that's
- 30:58wow, that's yeah. The walk off against very
- 31:02lightly was, yeah, that one hurt.
- 31:07There's been a lot of moments. Unreal.
- 31:12Speaking of being hurt, JT Realmuto placed on the 10 day IL
- 31:19knee surgery to remove cartilage.
- 31:22I am so glad I've never had such a surgery because that does not
- 31:26sound fun whatsoever. Knees, man, I'm telling you, I'm
- 31:32telling you. I I had AI had a superstition
- 31:37when I was playing that when there was when when it was when
- 31:41I was scrolling or something. I see a video and you
- 31:43immediately know that it's like an injury related video.
- 31:46Wouldn't watch it. If I'm watching a sporting event
- 31:49live and they go to replay to show a guy with living room, I
- 31:53leave the room. Fortunately I never had any
- 31:56major injuries. I'm not going to say that was
- 31:58the sole reason, but I'm not. I watched those.
- 32:01I watched those a lot and I, I blew my knee out.
- 32:03So, you know, there's not not saying that, but maybe we're
- 32:10saying that. Not, not not saying that, but
- 32:14the knee man, especially as a catcher, this, this has to suck.
- 32:18I think he's going to miss. Saw four to six weeks.
- 32:24Yeah, right. I saw.
- 32:25Yeah, a month plus. I don't understand the IL thing.
- 32:28What how is he allowed to be on the 10 day?
- 32:32Is that just for now? Is that until you move someone
- 32:34else like from the 60 day like or someone from the 15 to the
- 32:3860? Someone from the 60 back active?
- 32:42I guess drop someone from the 40 man I don't understand it the.
- 32:45IL is very fascinating. If you look at there was one guy
- 32:53on here recently that I saw where I'm like, don't know why
- 32:56you're on the 10 day. You're literally out for the
- 32:58season. And it had been like a minute.
- 33:01Oh, Spencer Strider, he's on the 15 day IL.
- 33:03What is that about? How does that work?
- 33:06Right? I'm not going to pretend to have
- 33:08a a deep understanding of how the 15 to 1660 day IL process
- 33:13works. But I don't know if you're in
- 33:14the chat and you know, please inform us 'cause it confuses me.
- 33:18Yeah, it seems to me that Spencer Strider maybe shouldn't
- 33:21be on the 15 day aisle. Christian Javier, 15 day aisle I
- 33:24kind of get because it's a little fret a little more fresh.
- 33:27But Spencer Strider, it's. I think we know.
- 33:30I think we know. I think we know.
- 33:34But yeah, this is this is a blow for the Phillies.
- 33:36Fortunately, they got enough of a cushion at this point as we
- 33:40approach the middle of June to where they can, they can they
- 33:44can tread water if they need to. I mean, fortunately they're
- 33:46playing the Sox and I mean, let's talk about a, a series to
- 33:53to get that going. Hold on.
- 33:56Well, I spoke too soon. It was 4, nothing Phillies and
- 33:58now it's eight to four Red Sox. Not sure how or when that
- 34:03happened. Threw up a snowman real fast.
- 34:08All I have to say though, they're they're OK, they're in a
- 34:13position where they can, they can get by with, with, with
- 34:16stubs. I saw he was playing through
- 34:20some stuff. Yeah, like he's had this for a
- 34:22little bit. Well, I mean, I feel like as a
- 34:24catcher, you just by default that's your, I feel like that's
- 34:27your standard state, your default state is that you're
- 34:31playing through something. And especially if it's knee
- 34:34related, I would venture to say that even if there was a play
- 34:40that took place that was the clear cause of said entry, I'm
- 34:46sure that the state of these guys knees leading up to those
- 34:49plays probably doesn't help their case or help their
- 34:53situation in that regard. They're probably a little more
- 34:55prone to having an injury like that take place.
- 34:59So it sucks for him, but honestly, for a knee surgery
- 35:02only missing four to six weeks, that's that's got to be like
- 35:07best case scenario, no. I remember when I was catching
- 35:11in like Little League and middle school and stuff, and and then
- 35:16you got to that age where you're like, knee savers were no longer
- 35:19acceptable. Why?
- 35:27Like yeah, why? Why did we do that?
- 35:29Why did? Why did?
- 35:30Buster Posey was like, screw you guys, I'm wearing these like,
- 35:35what's the big deal? I.
- 35:37Don't, I mean, I never, I never caught at a high level.
- 35:40I caught when I was like 10 and I'm like, these are incredible.
- 35:43These are. The move?
- 35:44And like, why would we get rid of these?
- 35:45Why is this less manly than putting a knee down?
- 35:49Why is that accepted? We're just going to work on
- 35:52framing. No, you're not.
- 35:53You're trying to save your knees, dude.
- 35:57Yeah. The thing that these wonderful
- 35:59pillows literally do? They're delightful.
- 36:03They're just delightful. Not saying you need to like
- 36:05there's a guy on like you still, you know, stick the butt up a
- 36:09little bit and and not use them, but like, I don't know, whatever
- 36:15this is, I think this is a tough blow.
- 36:17I this injury is not going to make me overreact.
- 36:30I just don't see it with the Phillies.
- 36:35And I know that's like an unpopular opinion and and I know
- 36:38you're going to be confused. You're saying like you don't see
- 36:41the path forward for this team or they just don't have the IT
- 36:46factor. They're just all, they're just
- 36:52at like the very end of their peak, like their like their
- 36:56core. And like, I know that like Alec
- 37:00Boehm is, is finally coming onto the scene.
- 37:04I think we know what Bryson Stott is.
- 37:07I think we know. I don't think.
- 37:09We do. I think we know.
- 37:11I don't. He took a huge, he's taking a
- 37:13huge step forward this. Year, I think he's good.
- 37:16I don't think he's ever going to be a league leader, All Star
- 37:24leader kind of guy. I I just don't see that.
- 37:27Bryson Stian is having a fantastic year and he's the when
- 37:31Trey comes back, he's going to be the worst infielder in the
- 37:33infield. He's still good, man.
- 37:35He's still good. I just like Nick Castellanos.
- 37:39What is happening there? Kyle Schwarber is Kyle
- 37:42Schwarber. And like, yeah, he looks like he
- 37:44slimmed down a little bit, but I, I'm trying to see the depth
- 37:50and it just it, this gives me like like 2010 to 2013 Yankee
- 38:04vibes where it was like this group of like older veterans
- 38:10that is, is like you, you're trying to squeeze some stuff out
- 38:14of him. And, and it's hard to say that
- 38:15because like Bryce Harper's Bryce Harper, but I don't think
- 38:19anyone can sit here and say Bryce Harper's the top five
- 38:22player in the league. I can name five more guys.
- 38:27I can absolutely name five guys that I would take over Bryce.
- 38:32We know the issues with Kyle Schwarber, Nick Castellanos is a
- 38:36problem. Trey Turner, as much as I love
- 38:39Trey Turner, when we start having health on the on the
- 38:42lower half and speed is your game, that's going to be a
- 38:46problem. I I just the pitching has been
- 38:52incredible. I think that's the reason
- 38:55they're in this position. But like as these older guys
- 39:00start to get nicked up and bruised, I don't know if I'm
- 39:04sitting here on on on June 12th and saying I'm super comfortable
- 39:10with where the Phillies are. But I I guess my question though
- 39:15is, well, also for the record, they have their believe they're
- 39:27in the top five in all of baseball and runs scored.
- 39:29So it's not just their pitching. I'm not.
- 39:33Saying, I'm not saying it's a, it's, it's bad offense by any
- 39:36means. No, but I, I guess what I'm
- 39:38asking is you've been high on the Phillies, the last Phillies
- 39:46vibes. No, no, no, no, no.
- 39:47I'm saying just like generally speaking, you've been like on
- 39:51board with the Phillies the last couple years and they were, you
- 39:57could argue lesser of a team in years past because they didn't.
- 40:01I, in my opinion at least, I don't think that they were
- 40:04getting the quality pitching that they're getting in 2024 in
- 40:09say 2022-2023. And the offense is still going
- 40:13to be the offense despite maybe them being a year older and, and
- 40:19maybe one or two of those guys hitting a little bit of a, a, a
- 40:22plateau or even falling off a little bit.
- 40:25Yeah. You're still getting Bryce,
- 40:27Trey. When Trey comes back, you're
- 40:28going to get Trey. How do you get?
- 40:31All the Trey, do you get like full, full on prime tray?
- 40:36I'm just like, I'm not, I'm not able to sit here and just be
- 40:39comfortably saying you're going to be you're going to be missing
- 40:42your catcher and what I would assume is a pretty big clubhouse
- 40:46leader for six weeks and just say like, everything's going to
- 40:52be fine. What I'm saying is like the
- 40:55slack needs to be picked up and and who is picking up that
- 40:59slack? Are those guys capable of
- 41:02picking up that slack? Brandon Marsh got off to a hot
- 41:06start great, but we've seen enough of his career to be like
- 41:13this is probably as good as it gets.
- 41:15I think he's on the aisle too. Right.
- 41:17It's, it's just, it's a lot of names that are definitely post
- 41:2330 year old vets. I know.
- 41:26But I guess I guess what I'm saying, it's no different than
- 41:29what we've seen the last two years, but they're pitching is
- 41:31better. So, like, why all of a sudden
- 41:33now are we dialing it back on the Phillies as one of the best
- 41:37teams in baseball, if not the best team in baseball?
- 41:39I'm just saying like, I, I love. I love the vibe of Philly.
- 41:42I love, I love what the the fans have been.
- 41:45I love the energy in the stadium.
- 41:47I love the mentality in the clubhouse.
- 41:49I love Rob Thompson. Trust me, I like, I love this
- 41:52team. I love everything that's
- 41:53happening with this team. But for me to just sit here and
- 41:59be like they're absolutely going to roll through teams in the
- 42:02postseason and and dominate their way to the World Series,
- 42:08I'm struggling to see that unless these names can pick up
- 42:13the slack. But if we're slowly just
- 42:15dropping these names off and we're at the point of all the
- 42:19weight is on B Harp, Boehm and Schwarber, it's like, I don't
- 42:24know if I have that kind of faith.
- 42:26But Trey's almost back too, so you can include him into that.
- 42:29Group I if you get normal Trey which again lower half missed
- 42:35time, assume it's going to take another 150 ABS for you to get
- 42:40back into the swing of things. Yeah.
- 42:43But like Fast forward to the end of of J TS IL stint, you get JT
- 42:49back at that point Trey will have been back.
- 42:51Every piece that you get back healthy and then in a better and
- 42:55in better shape, that's less that each guy has to, that's
- 42:59less of the load that each guy has to shoulder.
- 43:02I hear you. I get what you're saying and
- 43:04your argument is that that buffer it looks good and and
- 43:07that's this is a great time for. If it's to happen, this is the
- 43:11time for it. Right.
- 43:12And your, your point, your point may end up being valid like we
- 43:16may see a, a, a sharper fall off from some of these guys in the
- 43:19line up as we hit the dog days. And maybe I would anticipate.
- 43:23But going back to my original point, like you just said,
- 43:25they're at a place at this point of the season where they can
- 43:28afford that if it so happens. I just, I, yeah, I, I think for
- 43:32a Philly fan to sit here and say they're going to have a 10 1/2
- 43:37game cushion when they win this division, I don't agree.
- 43:43I don't agree. I.
- 43:44Don't know. I mean, the Braves are.
- 43:47The Braves don't. Slop.
- 43:49Right now they don't. Look good, they don't look right
- 43:51then. I agree there.
- 43:53Offensively, they rank I think like in the the bottom 5 in
- 43:59almost every major category. I don't know if it's on the
- 44:01season or like the last month, month and a half, but they have
- 44:06plummeted offensively. Here's a name for you just off
- 44:10the top. Two names now.
- 44:14One name, one name. Jacob Stallings with the
- 44:22Rockies? Why not?
- 44:30Like maybe it's like a death piece, but I think they're fine
- 44:32rolling stubs. Who's the other guy?
- 44:35Who they? I don't even know.
- 44:38I don't know who their third guy is.
- 44:41And why are they fine with stubs?
- 44:43Is stubs anything? I mean, what is Stalin's?
- 44:49How much more is Stalin's going to offer you?
- 44:52Stalin was an All Star a couple years ago with the Pirates.
- 44:54Rafael Marshawn is their third guy.
- 45:03Sub's hitting 179 with a 466 OPS.
- 45:12I'm not saying Jacob Stallings is a world beater by any means,
- 45:15but he's capable of a little bit more I guess. 295 three home
- 45:23rounds, got an 823 OPS. I'm seeing 289, but still that I
- 45:29mean, yeah. You know the Rockies aren't
- 45:32doing anything. Yeah, Yeah.
- 45:39I just don't know for that. Yeah.
- 45:40I just don't know for that timetable if it's, if they're
- 45:43interested, if it's needed doing all that.
- 45:48Yeah, yeah. I don't know.
- 45:51MLB Network was like showing like throwback days of Schwarber
- 45:55and Bryce Harper catching. And they were like, oh, never
- 45:59know. And I'm like what?
- 46:01Put Schwerber behind a dish, bro.
- 46:06He can. He can hold his own.
- 46:07He can do it. Trade for Kenley Jensen put him
- 46:10back there. Yeah, hey, people forget, man.
- 46:13People forget Team Netherlands, baby, they go, why would you put
- 46:18Kenley Jensen behind the plate? Look it up.
- 46:20A lot of people don't even know. A lot of people don't even know.
- 46:25Speaking of not knowing this anonymous poll put out by The
- 46:30Athletic, look at that. Look at that transition.
- 46:34That's spotless. Thank you.
- 46:36Thank you. They put out the poll earlier
- 46:40this week. You and I were talking about it.
- 46:42I think I. Eat this stuff up.
- 46:45Oh, yes. Oh.
- 46:46Yeah, Oh yeah. In a in a day and age where
- 46:49people are, I feel like are less inclined to put their name to
- 46:53what they say, you know they're going to let it eat when under
- 47:00the cover of anonymity. I love this.
- 47:05But you and I were talking and I think in years past, the only
- 47:08real highlight that has come from these articles is like, oh,
- 47:13who do who do people think are the is the most overrated
- 47:16player? That's usually the talking
- 47:17point, but there. And I sent you, I sent you the
- 47:20article and I said, man, there's some, I'm glad I looked beyond
- 47:24just the, the overrated conversation 'cause that was
- 47:27floating around on social because Juan Soto, I believe was
- 47:31had received a vote and that's what was what everybody was
- 47:33talking about. But I'm glad I, I read through
- 47:37the rest because I sent it to you and I was like, dude,
- 47:38there's some like, there's some really good stuff in here.
- 47:41There's some like some answers, some some explanations to the
- 47:47answers. It's, well, I mean, I say it's
- 47:49good stuff. Depending upon who you're a fan
- 47:51of, it may rub you the wrong way, but it's, it's fascinating
- 47:54on the least. But again, they put out a poll
- 47:57recently that was derived from the survey that they that they
- 48:08produced in the spring or that they they ran the survey that
- 48:12they ran over the spring. I guess it was during spring
- 48:14training when it's easier to get those guys they interviewed.
- 48:21I want to make sure I got the numbers here right.
- 48:22They interviewed more than 100 players, almost evenly split
- 48:26between the AL and NL across 18 teams, Granted them anonymity to
- 48:33get their unfiltered takes on some of the biggest and most
- 48:36controversial storylines in baseball.
- 48:38That's according to the New York Times.
- 48:44I figured we could just run through this briefly and, and
- 48:47just, and just talk a little bit more in depth about some of
- 48:50these questions because like I said, the one that was getting
- 48:52talked about the most was who's the most overrated?
- 48:54But again, as I mentioned, there's some interesting
- 48:57questions in here. They the the first question,
- 49:01who's the best player in baseball?
- 49:03As you would guess, majority voted Shohei Otani, I think, I
- 49:08think Acuna received some votes and Judge was on there as well.
- 49:12Let me pull up these answers. So I'm getting them right.
- 49:16Judge was on there as well. And you go, you may wonder,
- 49:18well, like why is why is Judge beneath Ohtani?
- 49:22It's like, well, this was in the spring and this is for Judge. 20
- 49:28is pretty high too. We got 26% of the vote. 26.5%
- 49:33The second question who is the most overrated player?
- 49:37This one was the one that was interesting and it wasn't even
- 49:41the fact that Soto received a vote or it it wasn't only that
- 49:47Soto received vote, it was some of the other names that were on
- 49:49there that was that that were raising some eyebrows.
- 49:54I will say like Emmanuel Klaus say received a vote Rafael
- 50:01Devers received a vote. Spencer Strider received a vote,
- 50:08which Yoshinobu Yamamoto received a vote, which again, if
- 50:13this is like pre sample side, like giving him a chance to to
- 50:18build a resume, then I could understand maybe why Yamamoto
- 50:22maybe got a vote. But even then he was wasn't he
- 50:25like a three time Sai Young like the Japanese equivalent of a Sai
- 50:29Young winner? He won an MVP too.
- 50:31Like whatever, whatever their top award, their top honor is
- 50:35he? I think he won it like three
- 50:36times. So not quite sure why why that
- 50:40was on there. Anthony Rendon being second on
- 50:42that list, I can certainly understand that adds up.
- 50:46That adds up. Honestly, Correa adds up.
- 50:48Tim Anderson adds up. Did I mention Jazz being the
- 50:51first answer? For those who haven't seen the
- 50:53poll, Jazz was at the top. By like a big margin to 20% of
- 50:57the votes. Rendon is only at 10%.
- 51:00Yeah, half of the 2nd place. So Correa, Tim Anderson, Jack
- 51:04Flaherty, Peter honestly, I don't I don't hate like at the
- 51:11risk of maybe rubbing some people the wrong way, I don't
- 51:14hate the names that are on this list.
- 51:16Like it I could, I could see the path for each one of these guys
- 51:20could all the that that is that is the the the bar graph answers
- 51:26the ones that that were in the at the bottom in the fine print
- 51:29that received one vote. That's where I I I had a little
- 51:33bit of a. Flirty my boy Jack.
- 51:35Flirty Just shoving everybody this year.
- 51:38Just proving everybody wrong. Yeah, but what's great, De La
- 51:40Cruz, if this was taken in the spring training, like an
- 51:46unnecessary ricochet, I feel like for my boy Jack, like,
- 51:51like, I don't think he's on anyone's radar before this
- 51:54season. No, no, Like no one's rating him
- 51:57that high. Well, it said the the article
- 52:01said this spring over the over the course of 2 1/2 months.
- 52:04So I don't know if that means leading up to opening day or if
- 52:07that includes part of the regular season.
- 52:10I just assumed it. I just assumed it was for, it
- 52:13included spring training 'cause it's easier to, you know, with
- 52:16media and those guys, it's much easier to get your material and
- 52:20spring training. That's why I assumed.
- 52:22So I don't know how much of the season had already happened at
- 52:25the time of the of this survey. Yeah, to be fair, there's only
- 52:2959 votes on this specific one of the overrated players Which.
- 52:34Was worth noting that not as many guys wanted to to vote on
- 52:39this because I don't think that they wanted to they they didn't
- 52:43want to talk talk poorly about any of their.
- 52:48It's a brotherhood in certain ways, you know?
- 52:50Yeah. The one, what was the quote That
- 52:54was, it was getting tossed around on Soto about it being
- 53:01like a spike pick or something. You know what I'm talking about.
- 53:07What? About Soto what?
- 53:11Do you mean quote? There's an.
- 53:15Article yeah it said could. In regards to whoever picks
- 53:20Soto, the person said could be a spike pick.
- 53:22To be honest I feel like all he does is walk and hit singles and
- 53:25doesn't hit for power like he's portrayed.
- 53:27Also not a good fielder. I think we can relax on that.
- 53:33The guy's a lock for the Hall of Fame, whatever that is.
- 53:38That sounds awfully Jelly. Just a whole lot of jealousy
- 53:41there. This one This one was a an
- 53:47interesting one I thought that they put out.
- 53:49Putting aside their stats and going solely on vibes, who do
- 53:52you want most on your team? I like that one.
- 53:56And in parentheses it said must be someone the player's not
- 53:58friends with doesn't know well. Trying to find that one where to
- 54:04go? Mookie Betts received the top
- 54:12the top number of votes. He was at 12.6%.
- 54:15Shohei was at 6.3. Akuni was 4.2, Bryce was 4.2,
- 54:21Judge 4.2, Schwarber 4.2, Trout 3.1.
- 54:25I don't, I didn't. I thought it was an interesting
- 54:29question, but I'm not I wasn't thrilled with the responses.
- 54:32I'm like, OK, are we just picking like the front, the MVP
- 54:35front runners and like previous, previous winners that like give
- 54:39me it said the question was going solely on vibes.
- 54:43So like for you, if if you were in the clubhouse, like who?
- 54:46Who is that for you? Vibes wise, I mean like, I, I
- 54:58think Kiki's probably a great pick.
- 55:04I, I think I, I mean Mookie's obviously a great pick.
- 55:11Liam Hendricks I saw got a vote like.
- 55:14I love that pick. Yeah, I I would friend of the
- 55:16pod, I would probably lean that way.
- 55:19Freddy, I feel like would be, you know, just guys that like I
- 55:23I get because Mookie just doesn't ever seem to get down.
- 55:28The guy's just so positive and he's just, he's like also super
- 55:34professional without being like a hardo at the same time, you
- 55:38know what I mean? He's got that perfect mix.
- 55:41He's got he's got a brand to uphold.
- 55:44I understand Mookie. I don't know if I fully
- 55:46understand the like show. Hey, it's just like what vibe do
- 55:49you give off? Like am I missing something
- 55:51here? Like do you?
- 55:53You don't give me much you. I just see like a like.
- 55:57You're super respectful, like there's, but you're just like,
- 56:01what? What are you providing?
- 56:03With, I mean, I like I do see clips of him like, you know,
- 56:08the, the whole like the classic take a bubble gut, like a bubble
- 56:12gum chewed up bubble and and stick it on a guy's hat.
- 56:15Like he's done stuff like that And he, he goofed around with
- 56:18guys in the like during the game and stuff.
- 56:20So I get that. But to your point, I, I, I don't
- 56:23know if I'd had, what was it? What did I say?
- 56:25He was at two. Like I don't know if I'm putting
- 56:27him at 2:00. Lance Lynn being on this list is
- 56:30pretty surprising. That's got to be a thing where
- 56:33it's like. Like a bulldog, you need one of
- 56:35those guys that's like, I want you on my team because no one's
- 56:38going to, no one's going to do anything.
- 56:40Like if we're going into retired, like CC, like you know
- 56:43what I mean? Like no one's coming after you
- 56:46like you're that like Big Bear so.
- 56:49What's kind of like the thing with Mookie that I, I'm, I've
- 56:51never been a huge fan of is because he has this like, image
- 56:54to protect. Like there's no edge.
- 56:58Like literally and physically. Like, I don't think Mookie's
- 57:00trying to mess up that face. You know, he's out there in
- 57:02Hollywood now. He ain't trying to mess that up.
- 57:05He's. And watching him for the years
- 57:08that I did, he was never going to be the guy at the top step.
- 57:11He was never going to be the first out to a scuffle.
- 57:15Yeah, and, and that's hard. That's hard for me if I'm
- 57:19bringing in a guy for like vibes and to be like a teammate that I
- 57:22want alongside me. I would say, I mean, I Rizzo, if
- 57:26we're just going, yeah, I think Rizzo's a good pick too.
- 57:29Like the guy just has fun, you know?
- 57:32I like Rizzo and Freddie are like some, some names to me.
- 57:41Yeah, like a yeah, like Freddy's like a superstar, but like,
- 57:45doesn't big league anybody it seems, you know?
- 57:51Yeah, I I love Liam as a pig though.
- 57:54That's Liam. That's Liam's very, very
- 57:57underrated. Liam's like one of the one of my
- 58:00favorite people I've ever met. Like that guy's awesome.
- 58:04That guy's super cool. There was a question, a question
- 58:10about is that evaluate this statement.
- 58:12Anthony Rendon was right. This season is too long.
- 58:17I love this 68% saying no. I wonder what that number is if
- 58:27you just take Anthony Rendon out of it and if you just say is the
- 58:33season too long? You know what I mean?
- 58:38Yeah, yeah. But going back to the whole like
- 58:42spite thing, like I, I would venture to say that they see the
- 58:45name Anthony Rendon. That's what I'm saying.
- 58:47I'm going to disagree with him, so remove that.
- 58:51I wonder what the numbers would be if it's just like, is a
- 58:53season too long? Some of the responses were funny
- 58:56though. It's like, I've never been a
- 59:00position player so I can't comment on how they feel after
- 59:03an entire season, but 32 plus starts is perfect.
- 59:06Somebody said somebody said F that I get paid more.
- 59:12Somebody said we, which I would love to know who said this, but
- 59:15somebody said we've been doing this for 150 years.
- 59:17Anyone who complaints is soft. Oh yes dude, like tell me who
- 59:23said that. That's great.
- 59:27Some of the responses that said yes to be fair, like I yes, I
- 59:32disagree. Like, I think as a fan, at least
- 59:36from, from my, from my point of view, I, I love the fact that
- 59:38it's 162 and I think some people alluded to that, like where it
- 59:42separates us from the rest of the sports, which I agree with.
- 59:46But I, I was able to at least empathize with some of the
- 59:49responses for yes, because there was a logic provided.
- 59:55Like somebody said, I think maybe we could use like 15 fewer
- 59:58games and start camp later. Spring training is too long.
- 1:00:04Somebody said he's right. I think cut out like 10 games,
- 1:00:07that's all, Nothing crazy. I think September gets a little
- 1:00:09washy at the end, which I can't maybe not like a maybe not the
- 1:00:13end of September, but like it does reach that point in like
- 1:00:16late August, September where it's like, well, OK, what are we
- 1:00:20really doing here? We, we don't need this.
- 1:00:25So yeah, like I, I, I appreciated the responses for
- 1:00:27both, even though I I do disagree.
- 1:00:30One of the questions was which team would you sign with if
- 1:00:33contracts, state taxes and rosters were not a factor.
- 1:00:36I'd love that question. What's left?
- 1:00:40Are you just choosing like fanbase and.
- 1:00:44Yeah, like literally anything else.
- 1:00:46Like. In Jersey, I guess.
- 1:00:48City uniforms, the historical side of things like the the
- 1:00:56richness of the team's history. Yeah, fans Braves Braves leading
- 1:01:05it at 12% of the votes You. Want to go ahead and tell me
- 1:01:08who's second on that list? Yeah, I mean, the Red Sox makes
- 1:01:12sense. Yeah, that's fine.
- 1:01:15I just wanted you to say it, that's all.
- 1:01:16Yeah, just wanted you to say it. 9.3% for the Sox.
- 1:01:20Dodgers coming into 8.1. Rangers at 8.1, Yankees at 6.9,
- 1:01:24Cubs at 6.9. The I will say of all of those
- 1:01:29teams. Like Arizona Diamondbacks really
- 1:01:31surprised me is that has that has to be like proximity to
- 1:01:35spring training, You know what I mean?
- 1:01:37Probably, yeah, maybe some golf fans in there.
- 1:01:40I don't. Yeah, yeah, no.
- 1:01:42But I was going to say like if you, you make the cut off at the
- 1:01:46Cubs, who are at 6.9, the Padres are below them at 5.8.
- 1:01:50But if you if you go Braves, Red Sox, Dodgers, Rangers, Yankees,
- 1:01:54Cubs, one of those to me doesn't really belong and it's the
- 1:01:59Rangers. It's the Rangers.
- 1:02:01If if you're looking at that list, you the common denominator
- 1:02:04there is like, OK, we're talking about like some pretty
- 1:02:06historical franchises that have seen six, I mean depending upon
- 1:02:12how you want to characterize it, have seen success in a variety
- 1:02:17of ways. You know what?
- 1:02:20You know what this could be? No, because like the Red Soxes
- 1:02:23are a mess. I was going to say like front
- 1:02:24office. Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 1:02:29Yeah. I mean, the common denominator
- 1:02:30just seems like they went the like these, these votes went the
- 1:02:35historical route and the the Rangers kind of just stand out a
- 1:02:38little bit to me there. I agree.
- 1:02:39I agree. I think there were some other
- 1:02:44questions, but they were more like player targeted.
- 1:02:49Oh, I don't want it. Are you in a Are you in favor or
- 1:02:52opposed to MLB adopting the salary cap and floor system used
- 1:02:58in other major sports leagues? 71% are opposed to that 71 Yeah.
- 1:03:10These boys are just trying to get their bags.
- 1:03:12Bro Oh for sure dude, for sure. The the one on the Olympics I
- 1:03:18thought was interesting and and we can kind of I guess close it
- 1:03:21out with that. But the question was should MLB
- 1:03:22shut down mid season so players can participate in the 2028
- 1:03:26Summer Olympics in LA? It's actually a close vote,
- 1:03:30Yeah, 90 guys voted on it. Then it's a 53 to to 46 and
- 1:03:35change vote. Yeah, somebody in the favour of
- 1:03:40no do not want to shut it down. Majority want no.
- 1:03:44Majority want no a mid season shutdown's pretty crazy.
- 1:03:49Yeah, somebody, somebody that voted yes.
- 1:03:51And if there's a way they could get rid of the All Star game
- 1:03:54that year, that would be pretty cool.
- 1:03:55It's a unique opportunity and now that baseball is back in the
- 1:03:59Olympics, I feel like guys would want to do it.
- 1:04:01I wouldn't hate that either, to be honest with you.
- 1:04:03You would have to get rid of the.
- 1:04:06You would have to get rid of the.
- 1:04:09Which they wouldn't do. We, we know.
- 1:04:11We've seen. They've proven it to US time and
- 1:04:14time again. And there's I I really don't
- 1:04:17think there are any exceptions anymore with Major League
- 1:04:19Baseball when it comes to making money.
- 1:04:21They're gonna opt to make money. Yeah. 10 times out of 10 so to
- 1:04:26to rid the league of the All Star game in a in 2028, this
- 1:04:31just not. Happens.
- 1:04:32It's just tough man, 'cause like if you host, OK, if, if one of
- 1:04:37your stadiums is hosting, how is that any different?
- 1:04:43Where even are the Olympics in 2028?
- 1:04:46Says LA. Oh, right, right, right.
- 1:04:48Yeah. In LA, yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:49I mean, that's. Like have some games in with
- 1:04:53with the Angels, some games with the with the Dodgers.
- 1:04:58I guess I would, I would, I would be curious to see what the
- 1:05:01money breakdown would be for, like if Major League Baseball
- 1:05:04gets any of that at all. Yeah, and would be sick is that
- 1:05:07let's like these guys, these boys are in mid season form
- 1:05:11literally like that's we get the world baseball classic where
- 1:05:15like the the cobwebs are still there and and the rust is still
- 1:05:18there that they're having to shake off.
- 1:05:19This would be middle of the season.
- 1:05:22Boys are, you know, already 300 a BS in be nice.
- 1:05:33I'd be intrigued. That's a closer vote than you
- 1:05:35think. Yeah, it's a it's an intriguing
- 1:05:38question, an intriguing thought. I'm not.
- 1:05:41An article though, Great. Polls good.
- 1:05:46Very solid. Questions yeah, speaking about
- 1:05:52journalism real quick, this whole Buster only getting hacked
- 1:05:56thing hilarious, amazing. Although I, I think the, the,
- 1:06:03the theme of this whole mishap or the the take away rather that
- 1:06:08that people seem to agree on and I would have to agree myself, is
- 1:06:11that whoever did this hacking outed themselves right away that
- 1:06:18they had hacked Buster only and then immediately start going
- 1:06:21into like into trade alert or like trade notifications.
- 1:06:26And I'm like you, you blew this whole thing.
- 1:06:30If you just would have went into.
- 1:06:31The account you would have blown the baseball world up.
- 1:06:35I mean. The one where they said show
- 1:06:37Hayes going to jail? Yeah, like you could make the,
- 1:06:42you could make the argument that like, yeah, that could be
- 1:06:44believable to maybe to some like if, if maybe they're more
- 1:06:48evidence was revealed overnight and like, whoa, whoa, whoa, he's
- 1:06:52going to jail. Read you get some tweets for
- 1:06:54anybody that didn't see this and lives under a rock.
- 1:06:57Yeah, so the show, hey one again, the whoever this was came
- 1:07:01out and was like, oh, I've hacked Busteroni.
- 1:07:03I don't even know who Busteroni is.
- 1:07:04And then proceeds to just start ripping off these tweets.
- 1:07:08Couple of them. Shohei Otani has been banned for
- 1:07:10life from the MLB in connection to charges with gambling.
- 1:07:13His trial is August 28th. It is speculated that he could
- 1:07:16get life in prison. Some are far more believable
- 1:07:21than others. Like this one.
- 1:07:23This one caused other. I at least know of one or two
- 1:07:30that posted about it and maybe others didn't quickly deleted it
- 1:07:33once they realized, but this one had people flipping out.
- 1:07:36The Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago White Sox are finalizing
- 1:07:38a deal that would send star outfielder Louise Robert Junior
- 1:07:42to Philadelphia, sources tell ESPN.
- 1:07:44Like that? 1.
- 1:07:45If you just, if you hack the account, drop that and dip,
- 1:07:49you've done your job like. You set.
- 1:07:50You've set that afire for sure. Like what are we doing?
- 1:07:54That's rolling. The one, the one that had me
- 1:07:55double take to like pick up my phone was was Lindor to the A's.
- 1:08:01The New York Mets are finalizing a deal that will send Francisco
- 1:08:05Lindor to the Oakland Athletics. I was, I, I had to be like, hold
- 1:08:10on. With the brakes let.
- 1:08:14Me dive in real quick. Baltimore Orioles are relocating
- 1:08:18the Las Vegas and the Oakland A's will stay in Oakland.
- 1:08:21The season is cancelled due to COVID.
- 1:08:26There were some others in there but then they just drop a OK if
- 1:08:30I get an unlimited prison sentence who will come and bring
- 1:08:32panties? Some out of pocket comments for
- 1:08:37sure. Out of pocket off brand with the
- 1:08:39rest of what you'd put out there with your hacking.
- 1:08:42But. You know, obviously Buster only
- 1:08:45has deleted his stuff, so I'm sure you can find that.
- 1:08:49Yeah. And it was such a.
- 1:08:50Loser move like OK, that was a little strong.
- 1:08:53I don't mean to come at Buster only like that, but guy didn't
- 1:08:56lean into it at all that I saw. I went back to his account, not
- 1:09:00a mention, not like a oh, I got hecked, blah blah, blah.
- 1:09:04It was just like immediately going into Yankees Dodgers or
- 1:09:08that that may have been tweeted before.
- 1:09:10But looking at his account right now, not a mention of it.
- 1:09:14I'm like. No sense of humor?
- 1:09:16That's pretty. Good like.
- 1:09:18I think if if it happened to Tim Kirchen, he my man would have
- 1:09:21would have told some stuff out there.
- 1:09:23Kenny, Kenny, Rosenthal, whatever.
- 1:09:25For sure throwing some some jokes out there.
- 1:09:27Buster is not having it. Lame.
- 1:09:31Speaking of lame, is that how we feel about the Minnesota Twin
- 1:09:34City Connects? Or do we like them?
- 1:09:39Go ahead and say it. I don't.
- 1:09:41Hate them I don't hate them that's I don't hate them that
- 1:09:44was my I meant to point out the city connects and I may have
- 1:09:47mentioned this before I. Show me some creativity, I'm in.
- 1:09:51Well, not even that, but if I like I'm going solely off off
- 1:09:54initial reaction now, like I don't even I don't even care
- 1:09:57anymore about like what the what the the connection is.
- 1:10:01I'm just like, OK, if that if if I can look at it immediately and
- 1:10:05go, OK, I see that they tried. I see that an effort was made,
- 1:10:07then I'm like, all right, I don't hate it.
- 1:10:09And when I saw these, I'm like, OK, it doesn't just say
- 1:10:13Minnesota across the chest like there was an effort made here.
- 1:10:18They obviously making a little bit of a or or rather a a
- 1:10:23larger, more direct connection to the lakes.
- 1:10:27I like that. I like that.
- 1:10:28Yeah, I like the the bill had like like the topography of one
- 1:10:37of the lakes and the under. Under yeah, the under Bill had
- 1:10:41yeah. It was like yeah, like the lit
- 1:10:45yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't.
- 1:10:47Hate it. I really, I really didn't.
- 1:10:49I'm not going to sit here and say I I love it and it's the
- 1:10:52best one. I I just, I don't hate it.
- 1:10:57Pretty cool. And effort was was at least
- 1:11:00made, it seems. Yeah, we're at the point now
- 1:11:02where you can really start drawing a line between ones that
- 1:11:06they spent more than 20 minutes on and ones that they didn't.
- 1:11:10And I feel like this one was one that maybe they spent more than
- 1:11:1220 minutes on. They didn't just slap Minnesota
- 1:11:16crossed, although I thought it was interesting, though that
- 1:11:20isn't, isn't that I'm just thinking of like the state
- 1:11:30versus city thing. Like I know they're Minnesota
- 1:11:33Twins and all that, but they are called City Connect and I feel
- 1:11:37like some of these teams are just going more like state broad
- 1:11:42or like brought more broadly the state angle versus not.
- 1:11:45It's not not the end of the world either way.
- 1:11:48I just thought it was interesting, really leaning into
- 1:11:51the lake stuff which again don't hit it.
- 1:11:56Like the other, you get the Rangers for Texas.
- 1:12:05Yeah, and I mean, I guess if if you're not explicitly listed as
- 1:12:09a City team and you're more like a state team, then I I guess
- 1:12:13you're you're kind of handcuffed there.
- 1:12:15So it's not a huge deal. But just throwing it out there.
- 1:12:19Last thing we got before we get out of here.
- 1:12:21Weekend series to watch. I got a doozy here.
- 1:12:27I should go first then 'cause mine's go ahead whatever.
- 1:12:31What do you got? What do you got for us to watch
- 1:12:33this weekend? Mine's mine's just a choice.
- 1:12:35This is. This is similar to what was it
- 1:12:38the was it this past weekend where it was Yankees, Dodgers
- 1:12:41and I was like. Yeah, I don't remember what you
- 1:12:43picked. Did you pick anything?
- 1:12:44I don't even think I picked anything.
- 1:12:46Oh, I had to pick by default the London series.
- 1:12:48Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. But.
- 1:12:49Otherwise, I wouldn't have picked anything 'cause you
- 1:12:51shouldn't really need to be watching any other series other
- 1:12:54than Yankees, Dodgers last weekend.
- 1:12:56But it's kind of the same thing here, and you'll see why.
- 1:13:00Give me give me the The Rangers Aren't Dead Yet series going to
- 1:13:05Seattle. I managed to stumble my way into
- 1:13:08another Apple TV series, so I apologize.
- 1:13:11That starts Friday. Got Heaney going going against
- 1:13:15Kirby Saturdays on Fox, Ivaldi and Logan Gilbert.
- 1:13:21I think that's the one. Excellent.
- 1:13:23Yeah, I think that's the one to tap into.
- 1:13:26And then Dane Dunning going against for the Rangers, going
- 1:13:29against somebody named Undecided for the Mariners.
- 1:13:34I'm excited to see what Undecided can do, see if he's
- 1:13:37got see if he's got some some things we haven't seen yet.
- 1:13:40You know, huge three-game set. Huge.
- 1:13:45Three-game set for me as well and as between two of baseball's
- 1:13:51best, the Phillies and the Orioles.
- 1:13:52Phillies are going to be in town in Baltimore.
- 1:13:56Are you going to go? Dude, I was, I was looking at
- 1:13:59tickets, but I when I mentioned that was the last episode, I
- 1:14:04think I alluded to the fact that this Oh, right, 'cause we're I
- 1:14:07was talking about how I haven't been to a game yet and I
- 1:14:10mentioned that the Phillies were coming to Baltimore when I just,
- 1:14:14when I no, no, when I said that I completely forgot that they're
- 1:14:17sold out. Like they made that announcement
- 1:14:20like a week before. I think it was the Saturday,
- 1:14:22which I can't make it a Friday night, but I think this is
- 1:14:25Saturday and Sunday. I already sold out something
- 1:14:26like they're going to be insane even if you can find them
- 1:14:30aftermarket or whatever. Well, you might know somebody
- 1:14:33that you could reach out to. It's hard to say.
- 1:14:36It's been a minute since we talked to that particular
- 1:14:38individual. I'm not about to just hit him up
- 1:14:40like yo Philly's OS. I think I'm going to text him
- 1:14:46and tell him that we're calling him out now.
- 1:14:49I think we're just here to openly call him out on on
- 1:14:51episodes until we hear his voice again.
- 1:14:56Until he finally decides to When?
- 1:14:58Was the last time we had Ryan? Was it the Was it the bold
- 1:15:01predictions episode? Was it Was it the first episode
- 1:15:05like of the? Season.
- 1:15:06Oh man, it it made it made his way through a tequila bottle a
- 1:15:09little bit further. Than than we expected he would.
- 1:15:14Unreal, man, we've been hyping that.
- 1:15:18We've been like Ryan, look, it's our biggest episode of the year.
- 1:15:21Like without a doubt, we need you on your A game and he shows
- 1:15:24up like half drunk. I don't know.
- 1:15:28I I'm speculating. I'm not I, I think that was
- 1:15:32very, very much the case. I suppose Phillies knows.
- 1:15:37Game one seven O 5 on Friday. Ranger Suarez versus Kyle
- 1:15:40Bradish, Game two. Kyle Bradish game Game 2O No.
- 1:15:46Oh no, no, no, no, not this one. Game three-game two, 4:05 PM
- 1:15:53Eastern, That's Taiwan Walker versus Grayson Rodriguez and
- 1:15:56game three, pending any changes. Game three, 1:35 PM.
- 1:16:02How this isn't Sunday night Baseball, I don't know.
- 1:16:05Game 3135 is Zach Wheeler versus Corbin Burns appointment
- 1:16:13television. There have been some excellent,
- 1:16:17excellent pitching matchups this far in this season and we're
- 1:16:21we're not even halfway through June yet and there have been
- 1:16:24some excellent matchups. I love it.
- 1:16:27What are we doing? What is this Sunday night game,
- 1:16:31please? It's my game.
- 1:16:32I think it's my game. No, it's not my game.
- 1:16:34It's not my game. Oh, it's probably Yankees Red
- 1:16:38Sox, isn't it? It is.
- 1:16:41Oh my gosh, dude, give it. What are we doing?
- 1:16:54Give it off, ESPN. Nobody wants to watch the
- 1:16:57Yankees and Red Sox anymore. And you're.
- 1:17:00And that's coming from Yankees and Red Sox fans right here.
- 1:17:04This has been dead for like 12 years and they're still.
- 1:17:08Trying to hype it up. I saw the promo for it before we
- 1:17:10hopped on. It was a it was a commercial and
- 1:17:12they were like this historic matchup returns.
- 1:17:15I'm like historic is really the only thing you can label it now
- 1:17:20because it's not doing anything for the here and now.
- 1:17:24Painful. ESPN just couldn't be more tone
- 1:17:28deaf. Boycott, boycott Sunday night
- 1:17:32baseball. And if you were only going to
- 1:17:34watch one game, and it may be in addition to your favorite team's
- 1:17:38game on Sunday, if you're going to, if you're going to test
- 1:17:41waters, hey, you know what? It's the weekend.
- 1:17:42I'll watch a second baseball game today because I got the
- 1:17:44time. Make it this one game three of
- 1:17:47the Phillies O series, 1:35 PM Eastern.
- 1:17:50Zach Wheeler, Corbin Burns. Make it happen.
- 1:17:55Big time. That's all I got.
- 1:17:58I love that we roll deep. We roll deep for the midweek.
- 1:18:01You're welcome, we love you, we appreciate you.
- 1:18:07Like, comment, review, subscribe, recommend, refer
- 1:18:15#buzzwords. Don't go chasing curveballs.
- 1:18:20Love you and as always, looking forward to talking more baseball
- 1:18:22with you guys soon. Until next time, stay filthy.
