- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up. It's Benzino and coming up next, I'm on
- 0:02Speaker 1: baller alert.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Balling how does the five mics work?
- 0:07Speaker 1: So there's.
- 0:11Speaker 3: A journalistic side, and there's the business side, advertising business,
- 0:15Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, button ups and stuff, and
- 0:18Speaker 3: then over here's wold and shit weed.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Smoke and you know what I'm saying, music everywhere.
- 0:23Speaker 3: We had some great talented people man that worked in
- 0:26Speaker 3: the Source, art directors and photographers, journalists, so they would
- 0:30Speaker 3: all of course, we would get the music from the
- 0:33Speaker 3: labels first, and sometimes from the artists first before.
- 0:36Speaker 1: The label sometime. Yeah, that was dope.
- 0:39Speaker 3: That was the best part of it for me, is
- 0:41Speaker 3: that we got to listen to the music before it
- 0:43Speaker 3: even came out, you know what I'm saying. And there'd
- 0:46Speaker 3: be a room in the back of the conference room
- 0:48Speaker 3: and they all get together, you know what I'm saying.
- 0:51Speaker 3: And I've never been in there but maybe twice my
- 0:55Speaker 3: whole eighteen years at the Source. I've never been in
- 0:59Speaker 3: the room with everybody. And you got understand, it's a
- 1:03Speaker 3: diverse group of.
- 1:04Speaker 2: People, almost like the Grammy selection a little bit absolutely
- 1:08Speaker 2: not okay, get it together.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Absolutely see.
- 1:11Speaker 3: You gotta understand we was the anti gram. When I'll
- 1:15Speaker 3: get to the social wards because that's what the source
- 1:16Speaker 3: warts was. But the when it comes to the five mics,
- 1:19Speaker 3: you have a diverse group of people where people are
- 1:21Speaker 3: from all over the place.
- 1:23Speaker 4: Push up in the robbery with a Robbert and you
- 1:25Speaker 4: know me, t As you crushed you you like me?
- 1:28Speaker 4: Mental health chat talking to me? Somebody got you fed up? Colin,
- 1:31Speaker 4: get it off your mind. Catch us in there, Ay,
- 1:34Speaker 4: turn us up while you win traffic slide. Welcome to
- 1:37Speaker 4: the greatest shown Earth. Yeah it's the bottle of Alert.

- 1:42Speaker 4: of Alert. Welcome to the greatest shown Nerve. Yeah it's
- 1:45Speaker 4: the bottle of Alert. Yeah it's the Battle Alert. Yeah
- 1:48Speaker 4: it's the Battle Alert.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Broadcast a live from the Danny Nagel Law Firm Studios.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Welcome to the Ball Alert Show. I go by the
- 1:58Speaker 2: name Ferrariy Sims.
- 1:59Speaker 5: I'll go by the name you know b Team.
- 2:03Speaker 3: This is her first time on the show, right, Wow, man,
- 2:06Speaker 3: you gout have called some trouble Bron.
- 2:09Speaker 1: I'm really excited to be.
- 2:10Speaker 2: You don't know this, Maybe you do, Maybe I can't remember.
- 2:13Speaker 2: I don't know if you remember, I worked for your
- 2:15Speaker 2: magazine Hip Hop Week, Super Weekly, Pop Weekly a long
- 2:18Speaker 2: time ago when it was here in Atlanta. I forgot
- 2:22Speaker 2: who you had was you had somebody on the ground
- 2:26Speaker 2: and he grabbed a couple of people from the radio.
- 2:28Speaker 1: We had the office. Yep, yep. The Browner brothers gave
- 2:33Speaker 1: us to that office and.
- 2:34Speaker 2: I was down there. I was doing reporting for you
- 2:36Speaker 2: all types of stuff. Wow, that was early.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Remember that's right, Dave. It was Dave.
- 2:41Speaker 3: It was Dave, my partner. I do remember remember, because
- 2:44Speaker 3: you was you were still working with the radio that
- 2:47Speaker 3: was on streets on streets.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right there.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, that was That was over ten years ago
- 2:52Speaker 2: probably that's when you know, that's when we first came
- 2:54Speaker 2: and you know, this was after the source, of course,
- 2:56Speaker 2: so that were trying.
- 2:57Speaker 3: To like this is like it's like a comeback, and
- 3:01Speaker 3: it was. It was real, dope because as soon as
- 3:02Speaker 3: we got to Atlanta. See, I had came to Atlanta
- 3:05Speaker 3: just to kind of like chill with Stevie for like
- 3:07Speaker 3: two weeks and go back to Miami because I've been
- 3:09Speaker 3: living in Miami for like eight years. So I said
- 3:13Speaker 3: I'm gona come up there. Cause Stevie prior to Love
- 3:15Speaker 3: and Hips, DVJ, stevee J Pride to Love and Hip
- 3:17Speaker 3: Hop sole Heze was coming down to Miami to come
- 3:20Speaker 3: cheer with me. So this is my first time coming
- 3:22Speaker 3: to Atlanta to chill. Now. I had been to Atlanta
- 3:24Speaker 3: a couple of times, like on a tour, a couple
- 3:27Speaker 3: of tours, and we would stop through and a lot
- 3:29Speaker 3: of guys from Boston actually moved to Atlanta, like in
- 3:32Speaker 3: the eighties. A lot of my guys like, and I
- 3:34Speaker 3: was like, I'm never you know, too many trees down south,
- 3:37Speaker 3: you know.
- 3:37Speaker 1: I just so I went to Atlanta.
- 3:41Speaker 3: I packed my car up, I said him go for
- 3:44Speaker 3: two weeks, got a spot, and then just ended up
- 3:46Speaker 3: staying for like this is my eleventh year. I had
- 3:50Speaker 3: a son born here, so it's like this is a
- 3:53Speaker 3: you know, like Atlanta is a big part of me
- 3:54Speaker 3: right now, and it just you know, like when I
- 3:57Speaker 3: got here, the Brown and brothers were so cool, like
- 3:59Speaker 3: they gave us that big office. Just take yeah, like
- 4:02Speaker 3: you guys could take the office. I mean, yeah, man, I.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Mean I was I want to thank you because outside
- 4:07Speaker 2: I was very young in the radio game, and that
- 4:10Speaker 2: was like my first credible thing that I was doing
- 4:12Speaker 2: outside of the radio.
- 4:12Speaker 1: You know, on the radio, you gotta.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Be a serial entrepreneurs. I PARTI DJing. But then when
- 4:17Speaker 2: I got that, I never gave it was me jazz
- 4:19Speaker 2: and B and ye. So that was very credible for me.
- 4:23Speaker 2: People start saying, Okay, his opinion matters, he's look at
- 4:26Speaker 2: what he's doing. So I just want to thank you.
- 4:28Speaker 1: No, I appreciate it.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Sing the magazine got to be on love and hip
- 4:31Speaker 3: hop at the beginning, correct, so people. So that was
- 4:33Speaker 3: a great promotion for for sure. And around that time
- 4:36Speaker 3: he was doing pretty good with hip hop.
- 4:38Speaker 2: It was it was dope. It was dope on the platform.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Now man, uh, you know, welcome the ball Alert. We
- 4:44Speaker 2: talk a little shit on here.
- 4:45Speaker 3: My girl loves like my girl Ashley loves the ball Alert.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Yeah, he loves it for really. Yeah.
- 4:52Speaker 2: So I do want to get straight into how are
- 4:56Speaker 2: you feeling today?
- 4:57Speaker 1: Man?
- 4:57Speaker 2: What's your move to that?
- 4:58Speaker 3: I feel amazing? Honestly, like I'm you know, especially twenty
- 5:03Speaker 3: twenty six. I just came into it like you know what,
- 5:06Speaker 3: something just I don't know, like when you reach sixty,
- 5:08Speaker 3: something's going to hit you. So you're sixty sixty Man okay,
- 5:11Speaker 3: gineteen sixty five July Team Boston City Hospital, Man and
- 5:16Speaker 3: and you know, that was a crazy year that year.
- 5:19Speaker 1: So it was like a lot going on.
- 5:21Speaker 3: And it's like it's like when you reach a certain age,
- 5:24Speaker 3: you just see everything through a different lens.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Now.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Now, sometimes you know you are who you are in
- 5:30Speaker 3: your environment, and that'll pop up time to time because
- 5:33Speaker 3: it's only natural. You know, where we come from is
- 5:36Speaker 3: always going to be rooted in us. But experiences and
- 5:39Speaker 3: just maturing and having kids and watching them grow up,
- 5:43Speaker 3: you start seeing things through a more logical lens opposed emotional.
- 5:48Speaker 3: And I think throughout my career I've been more emotional.
- 5:51Speaker 2: You know, you feel like you're logical.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Now I feel like I'm way more logical now.
- 5:55Speaker 6: Well, you had a logical opinion when I looked at
- 5:59Speaker 6: your Instagram and you was given your opinion on you know, the.
- 6:02Speaker 5: Different TV shows that steven A. Smith has stephen.
- 6:07Speaker 1: A Okay, Well I'm a fan of both shows by
- 6:09Speaker 1: the way. Now.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Of course, when steven A came out, it was like dope,
- 6:12Speaker 3: big fan, big fan.
- 6:14Speaker 2: It was first with steven A and Skip, I mean, great,
- 6:19Speaker 2: great show because it was like, wow, like we got
- 6:22Speaker 2: you know what well first Stuart Scott rest in Peace
- 6:24Speaker 2: was like, oh yeah, he was the you know, Stuart
- 6:27Speaker 2: Scott was the guy.
- 6:28Speaker 3: And to me he's like the model sportscaster for as
- 6:33Speaker 3: far as the culture how I look at it, he
- 6:35Speaker 3: uses the slang and he never disrespects anybody, always gives
- 6:39Speaker 3: people their flowers, which to me, I think sports casters
- 6:42Speaker 3: should because at the end of the day, win lose
- 6:45Speaker 3: the draw.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Athletes are still athletes.
- 6:47Speaker 3: What they're doing is still amazing given talent just to
- 6:51Speaker 3: be on a professional team, right. I think when steven
- 6:55Speaker 3: A came in and and Skip because Skip could be
- 6:58Speaker 3: guilty of it, also that that more shock sports jock
- 7:02Speaker 3: come in where it stops being ego and it starts.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Being more about them.
- 7:07Speaker 3: And when when when when steven A was just the
- 7:11Speaker 3: sports cast it was dope Because Steven They've been doing
- 7:13Speaker 3: this for a long time.
- 7:14Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying as a as.
- 7:15Speaker 3: A as a journalist for a news show too. I
- 7:19Speaker 3: mean for a long time before a first take, he
- 7:21Speaker 3: was covering basketball. Now not everything else, just basketball. But
- 7:25Speaker 3: my thing is like, once you stop making it about
- 7:28Speaker 3: you and your ego and the money comes and everything.
- 7:30Speaker 3: You could just start seeing the change. And he makes
- 7:33Speaker 3: it obvious now when he goes at did he goes
- 7:37Speaker 3: at Nicki Minaj And now he's going that Jasmine Crockett
- 7:39Speaker 3: like he goes at anybody goes at the w n
- 7:42Speaker 3: B A not not Caitlin Clark.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Though praises her.
- 7:46Speaker 3: And I'm just noticing the narrative of what he's doing.
- 7:49Speaker 3: And you know, listen, stephen A's bosses are what ABC
- 7:52Speaker 3: and I don't know who owns.
- 7:53Speaker 1: It, Disney Disney. This is huge just as this is
- 7:58Speaker 1: a conglomerate, conglomerate.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Oh, I'm noticing that it seems they seem to be
- 8:04Speaker 3: using him to push this agenda against us.
- 8:08Speaker 2: And as in African American.
- 8:10Speaker 3: African Americans ID like to refer as the culture.
- 8:14Speaker 1: It's like you know when they say the Ohio State
- 8:17Speaker 1: the culture.
- 8:18Speaker 3: You know, So I'm noticing it in this last one
- 8:21Speaker 3: with Jasmine Crockett is just like you know, it's it's
- 8:23Speaker 3: over the top, like come on, man, Like she's the
- 8:26Speaker 3: one voice that speaks our language. She's the one voice
- 8:31Speaker 3: that is in a powerful position that that really the
- 8:34Speaker 3: culture can relate to.
- 8:35Speaker 2: On how she presents for those who don't know who
- 8:37Speaker 2: is Jasmine Crockett.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Jasmin Crockett is a Houston representative for the United States Congress.
- 8:43Speaker 3: She's running for senator. I mean, she's she started out
- 8:47Speaker 3: as a lawyer, civil rights attorney, and she's I mean, she's.
- 8:51Speaker 2: She's very culturally diverse too.
- 8:53Speaker 1: My father and my girl loves her.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Man and and and I have a great deal of
- 8:57Speaker 3: respect and admiration for it because I really could see her.
- 9:01Speaker 1: I mean, she's really what we need. She's she's fairless.
- 9:04Speaker 3: She's fairless, and like I said, when it comes to
- 9:07Speaker 3: the culture, especially the new generation, they can relate to
- 9:10Speaker 3: the way she presents herself. And that's and that's important.
- 9:13Speaker 3: And I feel like he has no just coming at
- 9:16Speaker 3: her now, he's just coming at her because I feel
- 9:18Speaker 3: like he's being paid to come at her, or being
- 9:21Speaker 3: told to come at or instructed to go at it,
- 9:24Speaker 3: because there's no there's no reason for him to be
- 9:27Speaker 3: going at her.
- 9:27Speaker 1: And then he went at joy Reid.
- 9:30Speaker 3: You know, she was at MSNBC, and you know she
- 9:33Speaker 3: got fired after Trump got in office. But it's like,
- 9:36Speaker 3: these are black women, why are you going at I mean,
- 9:39Speaker 3: these are educated black women who have really put the
- 9:43Speaker 3: work in to get where they're at. What is a
- 9:45Speaker 3: sportscaster doing on He has a huge platform with Disney
- 9:51Speaker 3: and that's why he's doing it. And I just feel
- 9:53Speaker 3: like somebody has to say it. And my theory was
- 9:57Speaker 3: steven A when he first take was such a huge
- 9:59Speaker 3: hit with the black community, and he comes, you know,
- 10:03Speaker 3: Pat McAfee all of a sudden. Now now you notice
- 10:05Speaker 3: that Pat McAfee kind of caters to the white audience,
- 10:08Speaker 3: and it's nothing the matter with it. I like Pat
- 10:10Speaker 3: McAfee show also, you know, but his guy's got the mullet,
- 10:13Speaker 3: the cowboy hats. Listen, you know, there's nothing matter with that,
- 10:16Speaker 3: you know, with the culture and white people have started exactly.
- 10:20Speaker 3: But what I'm seeing is it seems like because steve
- 10:24Speaker 3: first take was always number one, you feel me, and
- 10:27Speaker 3: it seems like that they've given steven A the win women.
- 10:30Speaker 3: He's just so happy to get the money and do
- 10:32Speaker 3: whatever they say that he doesn't realize that he's losing
- 10:36Speaker 3: a big part of his black following. And once that happens,
- 10:40Speaker 3: eventually Pat McAfee will take him over. Because we live
- 10:44Speaker 3: in a country. Whether people want to like it or not.
- 10:46Speaker 3: And this is what the eminent thing was about, right,
- 10:50Speaker 3: And when you look at Donald Trump, you.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Could see it.
- 10:53Speaker 3: There are places when we live in the city, Atlanta, Boston, Vegas, Mine,
- 10:59Speaker 3: we're around white people, but we take for grant to
- 11:01Speaker 3: think that kind of maybe all white people are like that,
- 11:04Speaker 3: and it's like that everywhere in the country, and that
- 11:06Speaker 3: couldn't be furthest from the truth. There are parts of
- 11:09Speaker 3: this country that white people never ever see Black people,
- 11:12Speaker 3: like white people have been segregated.
- 11:15Speaker 1: In the hills, in the mountains, in the.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Rural areas forever, correct, we don't see each other. They
- 11:20Speaker 3: stay up there, they might come down and go to
- 11:23Speaker 3: restaurants for the weekend. We go up there and rent
- 11:25Speaker 3: a cabin for the weekend and then and then we
- 11:27Speaker 3: come back.
- 11:28Speaker 1: But it's a different lifestyle. Okay, it's only until.
- 11:32Speaker 3: The internet started making it see where they could see
- 11:34Speaker 3: what we're doing, and and and and we make not
- 11:38Speaker 3: having a lot look good, We make the struggle look
- 11:41Speaker 3: good compared to how they live in So when Donald
- 11:44Speaker 3: Trump comes in, Donald Trump is like, listen, it's not
- 11:47Speaker 3: even about nothing, but we're gonna you know, they've.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Been kind of marginalized as far as rural white.
- 11:52Speaker 3: America, donald Trump comes in, I'm gonna get back on Steve,
- 11:54Speaker 3: and I want to make this This is a great
- 11:56Speaker 3: platform for me to make this point that I feel
- 11:59Speaker 3: like Donald Trump ran on racism and religion, meaning the
- 12:04Speaker 3: policies that affect poor black people are gonna affect poor
- 12:08Speaker 3: white people. There's way more poor white people in America
- 12:11Speaker 3: that we never see, and those rural areas they live
- 12:14Speaker 3: rough up there. It's I mean, I don't you know
- 12:17Speaker 3: again when you're driving on the highway and there's hours
- 12:20Speaker 3: and hours of woods and you're just thinking that that's
- 12:22Speaker 3: just nothing over there.
- 12:23Speaker 1: When you go through at that first.
- 12:24Speaker 3: Layer of trees, those are thousands of people that live
- 12:26Speaker 3: in there, whole communities that you never run across, and
- 12:30Speaker 3: they don't see who we are. And we've been living
- 12:32Speaker 3: with this forever. That's why when Trump started talking about
- 12:35Speaker 3: d was it d D I It really doesn't matter
- 12:39Speaker 3: because we wasn't taking those jobs up there anyways. We've
- 12:42Speaker 3: been segregated, like whatever jobs you have up there, those
- 12:45Speaker 3: are your jobs, and whoever jobs we got in the
- 12:47Speaker 3: city as ours.
- 12:49Speaker 1: So that's what it is.
- 12:50Speaker 3: That's where the segregation takes there's the city, which is
- 12:53Speaker 3: the metropolitan you know, the metropolis, and then there's the
- 12:55Speaker 3: rural areas that's been segregated from day one.
- 12:58Speaker 7: And.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Every major every major city is segregated in that way.
- 13:03Speaker 2: It's the rural area and it's the.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Metropolitany outnumber believe it, they outnumber.
- 13:08Speaker 2: The rural area.
- 13:09Speaker 3: Think of Dakota, Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska. There are places
- 13:16Speaker 3: towns where they have never seen a black man, or
- 13:19Speaker 3: they don't come across black people.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Maybe out of Walmartin. You know what I'm saying.
- 13:23Speaker 6: It's I mean, it's towns in Arkansas that I'm from Arkansas,
- 13:27Speaker 6: so it's towns in Arkansas that don't even see black people.
- 13:30Speaker 6: And the son's sun down towns in Arkansas to where.
- 13:34Speaker 3: There's sundowntowns in Georgia that yeah, outside Atlanta town not
- 13:39Speaker 3: just to be honest with you.
- 13:40Speaker 2: And South Fulton, South Fulton has the largest amount of
- 13:43Speaker 2: population of black people in the country South for Fulton.
- 13:46Speaker 2: But my question to you is in relating to Stephen A. Smith,
- 13:51Speaker 2: is this is this saying to him, you have a
- 13:54Speaker 2: responsibility and you're not using it correctly.
- 13:57Speaker 3: He's the well at this point, it was that. But
- 14:00Speaker 3: at this point, it's just to me, it's obvious that
- 14:04Speaker 3: you are. You are being instructed at this point, so
- 14:06Speaker 3: you think you think there is well, not even beyond
- 14:09Speaker 3: the coone, you are being instructed.
- 14:11Speaker 1: You are a he's a puppet, you are a Yeah
- 14:14Speaker 1: you are. I mean he's.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Somebody up there saying, hey, I need you to absolut
- 14:19Speaker 2: absolutely absolutely look at the big contract you got and
- 14:23Speaker 2: that sports Because all of a sudden he just transferred
- 14:26Speaker 2: into having opinions about the culture.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Now, you know, Stephen A.
- 14:29Speaker 3: Smith was one of these guys that really wasn't the
- 14:31Speaker 3: most hip hop guy there's you know, there's a lot
- 14:33Speaker 3: of black folks that just didn't get in. That's all
- 14:35Speaker 3: right too, But all of a sudden, he has opinions
- 14:38Speaker 3: on hip hop, He has opinions on controversies of what's
- 14:41Speaker 3: going on. And I just think the Jasmine Crockett is
- 14:44Speaker 3: where I draw the line because we can't afford to
- 14:48Speaker 3: have We need her to win that sentence seat, and
- 14:51Speaker 3: we need people like her to win in this system
- 14:54Speaker 3: if we're gonna get anywhere, and we can't have him
- 14:58Speaker 3: doing what he's doing because he's not he he doesn't
- 15:00Speaker 3: even believe the shitty saying, excuse me, he doesn't even believe.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Oh yeah, he doesn't even believe.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Yeah, we passed the first time.
- 15:07Speaker 1: No, no, I've seen the ihearts, so I was.
- 15:11Speaker 3: You, but but no, it's true, Like you know, he
- 15:14Speaker 3: doesn't really even believe that you could see it.
- 15:17Speaker 1: It's just an act.
- 15:18Speaker 3: And again, we're at a time where when you look
- 15:22Speaker 3: at the Internet, it's being manipulated in the ways of
- 15:25Speaker 3: there's so much misinformation, and the misinformation is being dressed
- 15:30Speaker 3: up as headlines like it's and blogged worthy to where
- 15:35Speaker 3: it's people think this is really happening.
- 15:39Speaker 2: So I watched First Take every day or as much
- 15:41Speaker 2: as I can, and I watch it for the takes
- 15:43Speaker 2: on the sports right. Whenever it starts getting political, that's
- 15:47Speaker 2: not the channel that I would like to listen to
- 15:49Speaker 2: when it gets political. I think we also have to
- 15:52Speaker 2: pay attention to that as watchers too, because what I've
- 15:56Speaker 2: seen Stephen A do and I'm not taking his side,
- 16:00Speaker 2: I'm just seeing that he's doing additional content on the
- 16:02Speaker 2: side right, and he's voicing his opinion on matters that
- 16:06Speaker 2: he may not be an expert in. If we talk
- 16:08Speaker 2: of basketball, he's been covering basketball for thirty plus years.
- 16:12Speaker 2: But if we're talking politics, I'm not me personally as
- 16:15Speaker 2: an adult. And then we have kids that watch, so
- 16:18Speaker 2: I understand that part, and I understand where you're coming from.
- 16:21Speaker 2: I'm not going to listen to Steven A. Smith for
- 16:23Speaker 2: political advice. I'm going to listen to his opinion on
- 16:29Speaker 2: Lebron James is not the greatest basketball player of all time.
- 16:31Speaker 2: He's number two because of Michael Jordan. Lebron's number one.
- 16:34Speaker 2: But my thing is not football, I hope not football.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Football.
- 16:39Speaker 2: But I just say I think he's just a media
- 16:43Speaker 2: personality that's getting the bag. But I also think that
- 16:47Speaker 2: he's using the culture. I feel like we all use
- 16:51Speaker 2: each other. I feel like he's doing content on the
- 16:54Speaker 2: side and trying to milk that ownership part of it
- 16:57Speaker 2: because he does own the Stephen A. Smith show that
- 17:00Speaker 2: he does on YouTube. What you talk about politicsitics?
- 17:05Speaker 6: Do y'all think that sports personality needs to be talking
- 17:09Speaker 6: about politics?
- 17:10Speaker 1: You know?
- 17:10Speaker 3: Anybody, well, anybody could, anybody could talk about whatever they
- 17:13Speaker 3: want to talk about, all right, first, but again, like
- 17:18Speaker 3: he said, have you know again, there's a way to
- 17:21Speaker 3: talk about it where it just has logic, and you're
- 17:24Speaker 3: a grown man.
- 17:25Speaker 1: This is bullying. You know what he's talking about, Jasmine christ.
- 17:28Speaker 3: When he's going there's no there's no reason, you know,
- 17:32Speaker 3: because again there's nothing that she's saying. Everything she's saying
- 17:36Speaker 3: is for the culture. What do you have a problem
- 17:40Speaker 3: with anything she's saying, and be specific about it. He
- 17:42Speaker 3: says stuff to get a reaction that they react back.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Then now becomes a personal thing that he comes back
- 17:47Speaker 3: and he does this with women all the time. And
- 17:49Speaker 3: my thing is, man, you know, you know, you know,
- 17:54Speaker 3: I guess when when you're that high, at that platform,
- 17:57Speaker 3: you can't talk about the things I would like you
- 17:59Speaker 3: want to talk about twelvelift us and help the culture and
- 18:02Speaker 3: help Jasmine Crockett win that Senate seat. You'd rather, you know,
- 18:05Speaker 3: be sitting around wearing the basketball had I mean wearing
- 18:08Speaker 3: a cowboy hat, you know, I mean, just to me,
- 18:11Speaker 3: like you said, I would, I would think that at
- 18:14Speaker 3: that high up he would have a responsibility and knowing
- 18:17Speaker 3: where he came from, I'm sure where his mother came
- 18:19Speaker 3: from and his grandmother came from, right that he would
- 18:23Speaker 3: be a little more responsible.
- 18:24Speaker 2: And so I agree with that halfway right, the first
- 18:27Speaker 2: half is like I agree, and the other time to bet.
- 18:29Speaker 2: I agree with the fact that he does have a responsibility.
- 18:33Speaker 2: He has a huge responsibility because he he does so much.
- 18:37Speaker 2: But I feel like it gets overshadowed because when he
- 18:40Speaker 2: does his side commentary that has nothing to do with sports,
- 18:43Speaker 2: people are looking at him like, bro, what are you
- 18:45Speaker 2: talking about right now?
- 18:46Speaker 5: I don't need you in.
- 18:47Speaker 2: This specific space. There are other people that can occupy
- 18:51Speaker 2: their space that have a lot more knowledge about it
- 18:53Speaker 2: than you.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Yes, I want you.
- 18:55Speaker 2: To analyze this game that happened last night, because I
- 18:59Speaker 2: will say I've seen him go at Lebron. I've seen
- 19:02Speaker 2: him go at I forgot. Somebody just called him lame
- 19:05Speaker 2: the other day. The guy from the wide receiver sarch
- 19:08Speaker 2: Gardner's No, it was Garrett Wilson or whatever. I think
- 19:11Speaker 2: it's Gary.
- 19:12Speaker 1: He's just Carnival a wide receiver.
- 19:13Speaker 3: Charlie Kirk you know, so, oh yeah, yeah, that's crazy.
- 19:18Speaker 2: I'm over here like yeah, fact, fact, yeah. So I'm
- 19:23Speaker 2: just saying like, yeah, man, I do believe he definitely
- 19:25Speaker 2: has a responsibility. And I'm not I'm a fan of
- 19:30Speaker 2: Stephen A. Smith, the commentator for Sports Right, I'm not
- 19:34Speaker 2: a fan of the political side, because I'm over here like, no,
- 19:38Speaker 2: that's not where I came here for this. I didn't
- 19:40Speaker 2: come here for this guy.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know.
- 19:42Speaker 3: I just like I said, man, I just think you know,
- 19:45Speaker 3: I don't know. I challenge him to a boxing match
- 19:48Speaker 3: to Yeah, I said, come on, man, my celebrity boxing you.
- 19:52Speaker 2: No no, no, no.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Yeah, no, no, yes, Stephen that one. Yeah, Stephen A. Smith,
- 19:56Speaker 3: My challenge you to a boxing match, man. Three rounds?
- 20:00Speaker 3: Is it a minute thirty each round? Yeah, let's go
- 20:02Speaker 3: in there. You know what I'm saying. I knock you out.
- 20:06Speaker 5: You think you're not?
- 20:07Speaker 1: Have you? Have?
- 20:07Speaker 5: You said?
- 20:08Speaker 1: He been working out for me? I knocked him out
- 20:10Speaker 1: for for for jazzmine.
- 20:12Speaker 5: But he has been working out.
- 20:14Speaker 3: That's all right. He better I work out too, Okay,
- 20:18Speaker 3: I work out too. Yeah, three rounds, man, let's go
- 20:21Speaker 3: three rounds.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Mass.
- 20:21Speaker 5: I don't know Steven A.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Smith.
- 20:22Speaker 5: He wasn't even afraid of Lebron lebron six.
- 20:25Speaker 1: No, you don't believe that.
- 20:26Speaker 3: First, believe that Steven himself when they was on that court.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Stephen crazy. Since when he went on the.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Way on the podcast, and there was nothing more funnier
- 20:39Speaker 3: than that when he went on and was like, man, listen, man,
- 20:41Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying.
- 20:42Speaker 1: They only got one angle of it. Then he get
- 20:44Speaker 1: the other angle. Well whatever angle was there. He was balking,
- 20:47Speaker 1: he was looking.
- 20:48Speaker 2: I do not believe he was not afraid of the point. Remember,
- 20:52Speaker 2: and he's doing his job. He's a personality.
- 20:56Speaker 3: See see steven A. See okay to me. And this
- 20:59Speaker 3: is why Stuart Scott was so dope. He gave the difference.
- 21:02Speaker 3: He gave the athletes their props for sure. That's what
- 21:05Speaker 3: it's about. It's about them. It's not about it. He
- 21:07Speaker 3: made it about him. Look listen, I know you listen.
- 21:13Speaker 3: You know he's not really with the culture because he
- 21:15Speaker 3: he zips his sweat sweatsuits up all the way up.
- 21:18Speaker 1: He puts the chain. Now, we don't do that. We
- 21:22Speaker 1: don't do that.
- 21:23Speaker 3: You don't zip the sweatsuit all the way up with
- 21:26Speaker 3: the thing hanging right there, with the chain hanging out
- 21:28Speaker 3: halfway right there.
- 21:29Speaker 1: He does that.
- 21:30Speaker 2: You know you're gonna get at you.
- 21:32Speaker 3: I'm waying forum, I've been I've been dying. I was
- 21:35Speaker 3: the first one to really start saying something. I said somebody.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Something positive to say about him.
- 21:39Speaker 3: I think He's an amazing especially as a black man sportscaster.
- 21:44Speaker 3: I think for basketball he's like one of the he's
- 21:46Speaker 3: like one of the best, absolutely, But when his ego
- 21:50Speaker 3: gets in front of him, then I think that's where
- 21:52Speaker 3: and that's what happens to a lot of men. It
- 21:54Speaker 3: happens to alid, It happens to the best of us.
- 21:56Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, You have to be able
- 21:57Speaker 3: to control your ego. People people like sports in their
- 22:02Speaker 3: players and everything. And I understand stephen A. His style
- 22:06Speaker 3: is to kind of be like what the average sports
- 22:09Speaker 3: guy would think when he know I get it, so
- 22:11Speaker 3: in that's in that sense he's the master.
- 22:14Speaker 1: I just feel like he's being used wrongly.
- 22:18Speaker 3: And you know, I mean, listen, man, you know money
- 22:21Speaker 3: will make people do crazy stuff. And you know what
- 22:23Speaker 3: I'm saying, Like, the culture is fragile, man.
- 22:25Speaker 2: We need more cultures, very fragile. Well, I feel like
- 22:28Speaker 2: it's reconstructing. I feel like it does a master reset
- 22:31Speaker 2: every ten years, and it has to reconstruct a little
- 22:33Speaker 2: because now look at streaming and podcasting and how we
- 22:37Speaker 2: don't even own the consolutely like before ten years ago.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Baller has been doing podcasting since twenty sixteen.
- 22:43Speaker 3: I'm Gonna get ball Berthday Flowers. Baller was one of
- 22:45Speaker 3: the first ones digitally really.
- 22:48Speaker 2: And I remember I kept saying I was doing doing
- 22:49Speaker 2: the podcast me and Kenny Burns.
- 22:51Speaker 3: They put out a naked picture me years ago, and
- 22:53Speaker 3: I was pissed. I mean, this is when they first
- 22:56Speaker 3: came up, and I was mad out.
- 23:00Speaker 2: I was you know, the misconception we get all the time.
- 23:06Speaker 3: When I was with Love and hip Hop put out
- 23:07Speaker 3: the naked picture and got ball and all over ship.
- 23:11Speaker 2: You know what the misconception is, big bro, Like when
- 23:14Speaker 2: we whenever BT and I, because we do the podcast,
- 23:16Speaker 2: people put us with the actual blog and may be
- 23:20Speaker 2: we didn't have some crazy calls. Yeah, take that down.
- 23:25Speaker 3: I'm over here like media, you understand.
- 23:29Speaker 1: I get it, man.
- 23:30Speaker 3: You know hip Hop Weekly was that the source wasn't
- 23:33Speaker 3: that type of magazine.
- 23:33Speaker 2: But I want to talk about the source because to me,
- 23:37Speaker 2: I went and bought that magazine, uh, every issue for
- 23:41Speaker 2: for a large large period of I don't want you
- 23:45Speaker 2: know what I think I did. Okay, I think I
- 23:48Speaker 2: do my mouth because you know how because I always
- 23:52Speaker 2: wanted to ask you this question. The five mic thing
- 23:54Speaker 2: that was like the thing like when I would literally
- 23:57Speaker 2: get the Source magazine and go straight to the who
- 24:00Speaker 2: got five mics?
- 24:01Speaker 1: Can I ask you a question?
- 24:02Speaker 3: So when you've seen somebody that had favorable mics falling
- 24:05Speaker 3: up with that, I.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Went and bought the CD. Really yeah, it would make
- 24:09Speaker 2: me go by the CD. I just used to get
- 24:11Speaker 2: mad when y'all would give like a lot of well
- 24:13Speaker 2: not you, whoever.
- 24:14Speaker 3: Was doing it, tell you how that worked.
- 24:21Speaker 1: Okay, So there's the editorial.
- 24:24Speaker 2: We said, for content, how does the five mics work
- 24:27Speaker 2: on the so.
- 24:28Speaker 1: So, So there's there's.
- 24:31Speaker 3: A journalistic side, and there's the business side, advertising business,
- 24:35Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, button ups, and and.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Then over here wow and ship weed, smoke and you
- 24:40Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Music everywhere.
- 24:43Speaker 3: We have some great talented people man that worked in
- 24:46Speaker 3: the Source, art directors and photographers, journalists, so they would
- 24:50Speaker 3: all of course, we would get the music from the
- 24:53Speaker 3: labels first, and sometimes from the artists first before the label.
- 24:58Speaker 1: That was fire, Yeah, that was dope.
- 25:00Speaker 3: That was the best part of it for me is
- 25:01Speaker 3: that we got to listen to the music before it
- 25:03Speaker 3: even came out, you know what I'm saying. And there'd
- 25:06Speaker 3: be a room in the back of the conference room
- 25:08Speaker 3: and they all get together, you know what I'm saying.
- 25:11Speaker 3: And I've never been in there but maybe twice my
- 25:15Speaker 3: whole eighteen years at the Source. I've never been in
- 25:19Speaker 3: the room where everybody And you gotta understand, it's a
- 25:23Speaker 3: diverse group of people.
- 25:25Speaker 2: The people from almost like the Grammy selection a little
- 25:27Speaker 2: bit absolutely not okay to absolutely not see.
- 25:32Speaker 3: You gotta understand we was the anti Gramm when I'll
- 25:35Speaker 3: get to the Social Awards, because that's what the Source
- 25:36Speaker 3: Awards was. But the when it comes to the five mics,
- 25:39Speaker 3: you have a diverse group of people where people are
- 25:41Speaker 3: from all over the place.
- 25:43Speaker 1: They were college kids the majority.
- 25:46Speaker 3: I was the one that would hire like somebody that
- 25:48Speaker 3: comes straight out of jail or somebody that had skills
- 25:50Speaker 3: in writing that was in the streets without a college diploma.
- 25:53Speaker 3: But generally it was a college because the guys that
- 25:57Speaker 3: discovered the Source, Dave and is three guys they who
- 25:59Speaker 3: actually discovered it, well, Dave and then he you know
- 26:02Speaker 3: the three guys, they were all Ivy League guys, you
- 26:05Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. And yeah, it was like they
- 26:09Speaker 3: would sit back there, they listen to the music and
- 26:11Speaker 3: you know, they had a pretty good there that has
- 26:13Speaker 3: some pretty good ears. You know, that's a pretty well
- 26:16Speaker 3: they started developing it and then you know a lot
- 26:20Speaker 3: of the people that work for the sauce.
- 26:22Speaker 1: Came in in like kind of groups.
- 26:25Speaker 3: There was the original group to ninety four, and after
- 26:28Speaker 3: ninety four there was a group that went.
- 26:30Speaker 1: So it was like people came in and out.
- 26:33Speaker 3: The great thing is that these people went on to
- 26:35Speaker 3: do movies and HBO and then I mean amazing stuff,
- 26:39Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying.
- 26:40Speaker 1: So yeah, man, like that was and you know, to me.
- 26:44Speaker 3: Personally, this is how I always felt because Rolling Stone
- 26:49Speaker 3: magazine were the first ones to rate all right music
- 26:53Speaker 3: and Dave's vision for the source was a hip hop
- 26:56Speaker 3: rolling Stone. The maggot rolling Stone was doing so well
- 26:59Speaker 3: with advertisement, but you know, companies wasn't ready to advertise
- 27:04Speaker 3: with hip hop yet and young black men in the
- 27:06Speaker 3: street at all. So, you know, Dave, I have to
- 27:09Speaker 3: give him his flowers because he really pioneered. It's one thing, yes,
- 27:14Speaker 3: writing about hip hop, and that was a great thing
- 27:16Speaker 3: because as hip hop was growing, you know, I mean, shit,
- 27:20Speaker 3: saus came in fifteen years after hip hop was first born,
- 27:23Speaker 3: so it was you know, it was a teenager by
- 27:26Speaker 3: the time. Hip hop was a teenager by the time
- 27:28Speaker 3: Sauce came in. But it was a great time because
- 27:30Speaker 3: it was kind of grown the nineties exactly when it.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Was getting its props.
- 27:34Speaker 3: Eighty eight was the first Sauce magazine, nineteen eighty eight,
- 27:37Speaker 3: and you know it at that time there was kind
- 27:42Speaker 3: of territorialized. You know, New York of course was the mecca.
- 27:46Speaker 3: And then as years went on, then everybody started getting
- 27:49Speaker 3: their own Midwest, West Coast and then of course ninety
- 27:53Speaker 3: five Sauce Awards South got something to say and hasn't
- 27:56Speaker 3: looked back.
- 27:57Speaker 1: You know.
- 27:58Speaker 2: So, I remember when y'all gave Little Kim five mikes.
- 28:02Speaker 2: I felt like that was a big deal because because
- 28:04Speaker 2: she was I felt like, to me, correct me if
- 28:06Speaker 2: I'm wrong, was that the first female to get five mics?
- 28:09Speaker 3: She got five mics? That that was you know, we
- 28:10Speaker 3: had some controversy about that.
- 28:12Speaker 2: Yeah, it was a big steer about that. That's that's
- 28:14Speaker 2: when it was like the MTV news.
- 28:16Speaker 3: The five mic was the review, right, one, two, three, four,
- 28:20Speaker 3: five mikes and then it got so the average was
- 28:23Speaker 3: three and a half. Well see see the halfs didn't come.
- 28:28Speaker 3: Let me tell you how to how to come in,
- 28:30Speaker 3: because one thing about the mic system you gotta understand.
- 28:34Speaker 3: Let me you have to understand about the mic system.
- 28:37Speaker 3: And this is what people didn't understand, right, this is
- 28:40Speaker 3: what Remember, there's two sides, jenernalistic art and then there's business.
- 28:46Speaker 3: You got to run a business when labels are giving
- 28:48Speaker 3: you their artists. Not everybody's gonna be four mics and
- 28:53Speaker 3: five mics, and so you're gonna get some stuff that's
- 28:57Speaker 3: not so good and they give them two mics. But
- 29:00Speaker 3: the label's paying a lot of money for advertisement, So
- 29:03Speaker 3: now you kind of what might have to give them.
- 29:07Speaker 3: So I had to introduce the half mic system to
- 29:11Speaker 3: it because it was the only way that we could
- 29:14Speaker 3: please somebody. To please somebody, Now, if we give somebody
- 29:16Speaker 3: three three and a half, it gives us some leadway
- 29:18Speaker 3: to be like, okay.
- 29:19Speaker 5: And the labels, I'm pretty sure we're happy.
- 29:21Speaker 3: I mean, you know, yeah, I mean anybody who got
- 29:24Speaker 3: nobody was happy with the mics unless they got five.
- 29:26Speaker 1: Everybody was mad.
- 29:27Speaker 3: And people actually thought I was the one that was
- 29:30Speaker 3: making decisions and I wasn't there. Yeah, you know, and
- 29:32Speaker 3: I wasn't so Proz told me that. Norway told me
- 29:36Speaker 3: it was like, yo, man, never used to like you,
- 29:37Speaker 3: And I'm like why. It was like, yeah, because you
- 29:39Speaker 3: gave mysel and said I always thought that you guys
- 29:42Speaker 3: said nah, not at all. I said, I never. There
- 29:44Speaker 3: was only two times, and it was a controversial time.
- 29:48Speaker 3: And I spoke about this before. All right, So when
- 29:52Speaker 3: now cast first album came.
- 29:53Speaker 2: I was about to say nineteen ninety eight. Yeah, when
- 29:57Speaker 2: I was cast, first album came, they got five mics.
- 30:00Speaker 3: No, well no, it got it got I think they
- 30:03Speaker 3: got four and a half, four and a half and
- 30:05Speaker 3: a half because because it was almost like us being
- 30:12Speaker 3: up in New York, we really didn't hear it for sure.
- 30:15Speaker 3: So some some some of the staff wanted to give
- 30:18Speaker 3: them five. And that was the one time, and I
- 30:22Speaker 3: regretted so much, man, but.
- 30:24Speaker 2: You get but you came back around the Femini album
- 30:27Speaker 2: got five mics.
- 30:28Speaker 3: Well yeah, I mean listen, but that but their first one,
- 30:31Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, Like you know, I you know,
- 30:34Speaker 3: that was the one time. It was two times. I
- 30:36Speaker 3: did it when I was beefing with eminem and I
- 30:37Speaker 3: gave made Men four and a half I just had
- 30:43Speaker 3: to let my nuts hang man, like for real, like,
- 30:45Speaker 3: come on, that's it's my it's my magazine and beefing. Yeah, yeah,
- 30:49Speaker 3: I'm gonna give your album too, And I'm gonna give
- 30:51Speaker 3: my album four and a half.
- 30:51Speaker 1: I mean, wouldn't you.
- 30:53Speaker 3: Wouldn't you if you beefing with somebody, you're gonna give
- 30:56Speaker 3: them four and a half mics?
- 30:58Speaker 1: Come on?
- 30:58Speaker 5: You know what I say? You do?
- 31:03Speaker 2: Who do now?
- 31:05Speaker 5: Now?
- 31:05Speaker 2: As as you became a legend in the game, you
- 31:10Speaker 2: have kids.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Now, I appreciate that you know.
- 31:14Speaker 2: Do music because I believe Kurt mean from your son
- 31:16Speaker 2: this music too.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Ray Ray Ray Ray was.
- 31:17Speaker 3: The first one to be signed, and he had a
- 31:20Speaker 3: deal in the Scope with Big Punk's son Yeah rested
- 31:24Speaker 3: piece of Big Punk with him Christopher and Yeah Man
- 31:27Speaker 3: Baby pun Man.
- 31:29Speaker 1: They had a deal and May he gave him.
- 31:31Speaker 3: Like almost a half million dollars and everything's beautiful, and
- 31:34Speaker 3: you know he did the video Benny Boom shot the
- 31:36Speaker 3: Bronx Tail.
- 31:37Speaker 1: They spent a couple of hundred thousand on the video.
- 31:39Speaker 3: And then the Eminem Beef's happened and then that was
- 31:42Speaker 3: it for that what you what you mean to eminem Beef?
- 31:44Speaker 3: Happened right around the time while the right before the
- 31:47Speaker 3: album was giving it a come out.
- 31:48Speaker 1: Me and m got into it, and then Jimmy.
- 31:50Speaker 5: Dropped him, Oh yeah, something that you would do.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good point. He's fast.
- 32:00Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, did THEE hurt your career?
- 32:12Speaker 3: I mean, you know, obviously obviously you know hindsight music music, yes,
- 32:16Speaker 3: music wise one because you know so Sylvia wrong, all right? Sylvia,
- 32:25Speaker 3: Sylvia Wroon an amazing, amazing, amazing woman, one of probably
- 32:29Speaker 3: the most amazing women in black music, especially my time,
- 32:33Speaker 3: for sure.
- 32:34Speaker 1: I mean just an.
- 32:35Speaker 3: Amazing black woman, black executive, worked at many labels, really
- 32:41Speaker 3: really was instrumental in music with the culture. I mean,
- 32:46Speaker 3: can't give her enough flowers. All right, she's dope. She
- 32:50Speaker 3: gave me a real good opportunity with Rock the Party
- 32:53Speaker 3: Man that Mario Wine is produced. That was like my
- 32:56Speaker 3: biggest song on my life, and she was happy, gave
- 32:59Speaker 3: me a bunch of money. I got a million dollars
- 33:01Speaker 3: for that deal, and it was like we getting mad
- 33:05Speaker 3: money with the sauce and all of a sudden, I'm
- 33:06Speaker 3: getting a million dollar deal. This is crazy. And then
- 33:10Speaker 3: the Eminem beef happened and I remember see I was
- 33:14Speaker 3: doing mixtapes before the album came out in Miami, and
- 33:18Speaker 3: I made like a little I said, like a couple
- 33:20Speaker 3: of lines on it at the end of a mixtape
- 33:22Speaker 3: on song twenty one about Eminem. Next thing, you know,
- 33:25Speaker 3: he made a whole hymn and green Land made a
- 33:27Speaker 3: whole mixtape going at me. So then when the album
- 33:32Speaker 3: is the album coming out of Rock the Party.
- 33:33Speaker 1: It's my big album, Sylvia.
- 33:36Speaker 3: I got the song on NBA Jam the Songs and
- 33:39Speaker 3: Eddie Murphy's the main song of Eddie Murphy's movie where
- 33:42Speaker 3: he was boxing like bro, like I'm doing major shit
- 33:45Speaker 3: torn around the world. So when the Eminem beef happened,
- 33:50Speaker 3: it got she got winto it and she was like, look,
- 33:53Speaker 3: you know, keep that away from you know, I really
- 33:54Speaker 3: don't want him doing it.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Mario told me what she said.
- 33:57Speaker 3: I was like, all right, and I fuck around snucked
- 33:59Speaker 3: it this song on the album to pull your skirt
- 34:02Speaker 3: up on the album.
- 34:02Speaker 1: I known about it, so I never forget. Man.
- 34:07Speaker 3: I went in the office and she was there, and
- 34:10Speaker 3: you know, I had a lot of respect for her.
- 34:11Speaker 3: I looked at her like you know, when you when
- 34:14Speaker 3: you see women like that, you looked at me like
- 34:17Speaker 3: in like a motherly type, you know what I'm saying,
- 34:20Speaker 3: And that's how I looked at it. And I went
- 34:23Speaker 3: through so much just to get to that position, and
- 34:26Speaker 3: just and again I let my emotions and let my
- 34:31Speaker 3: my streetness and my immaturity take the best of me.
- 34:35Speaker 1: And man, and she cheat.
- 34:38Speaker 3: It was a moment that we came and sat in
- 34:39Speaker 3: there and it looked like she wanted to cry, and
- 34:43Speaker 3: I looked like I wanted to cry, and she said,
- 34:45Speaker 3: I have to let you go, and I just was
- 34:47Speaker 3: like damn. I was like, man, she was like, she said,
- 34:50Speaker 3: why'd you do this? She was like we had everything.
- 34:54Speaker 3: She's like, this is why would you know? She gave
- 34:55Speaker 3: me that and I sat there and just didn't say nothing.
- 34:58Speaker 1: I know what to say. I never told that story.
- 35:01Speaker 3: That was an emotional story for me because you let
- 35:03Speaker 3: me tell you something my whole life, That's all I wanted,
- 35:07Speaker 3: Like like I started out my grandfather's basement with my
- 35:11Speaker 3: uncle teaching me how to in the South Bronx teaching
- 35:13Speaker 3: me how to spend records, and I was cutting up
- 35:16Speaker 3: to be real like I was eleven years old, like
- 35:18Speaker 3: I'm a hip hop head and you know, all the controversies,
- 35:23Speaker 3: all the stuff I went through in Boston, to depths,
- 35:25Speaker 3: everything I went through, and I got to that moment
- 35:29Speaker 3: and this is where ego. I'm gonna tell you, this
- 35:32Speaker 3: is where Ego fucked me up and I had to
- 35:35Speaker 3: learn the hardway, you know.
- 35:36Speaker 1: What I'm saying.
- 35:37Speaker 3: That's why anytime I see somebody do it, I try
- 35:39Speaker 3: to tell them, look, don't you don't let your ego
- 35:41Speaker 3: fuck it up. Because I had everything going for me,
- 35:44Speaker 3: and even though she dropped me, I still was getting
- 35:45Speaker 3: money with the Source. But I wasn't a magazine guy.
- 35:49Speaker 3: I kind of adapted and adjusted. I'm a hustle I
- 35:52Speaker 3: could do anything. So once I got to the Source,
- 35:53Speaker 3: I started doing main things like outside the pages, like
- 35:57Speaker 3: the Source Awards was a major thing for Mesa, all
- 36:00Speaker 3: the Access TV show, The Source hip Hop hits first
- 36:03Speaker 3: compilation sold five million copies on Death Jam. All that
- 36:06Speaker 3: came from me and The Source hip Hop Behind Bars
- 36:10Speaker 3: one of the best selling covers. All that was my idea,
- 36:12Speaker 3: Like I came with ideas. That was I was like
- 36:15Speaker 3: the brand manager outside and then I was picking covers,
- 36:18Speaker 3: so my duties grew.
- 36:20Speaker 1: But I always wanted to hit record.
- 36:22Speaker 3: Man, I just wanted to hit and I had it,
- 36:25Speaker 3: and that fucking and that beef with him just fucked
- 36:27Speaker 3: me up. And then all the radio stations just started
- 36:30Speaker 3: taking his side.
- 36:32Speaker 1: So even like Hot ninety seven like to this day,
- 36:34Speaker 1: and that's.
- 36:34Speaker 2: Back when radio literally was the only outlet. It was
- 36:38Speaker 2: a couple of websites.
- 36:39Speaker 1: It was radio, it was ray it and listen. The
- 36:43Speaker 1: first thing was look.
- 36:45Speaker 3: So prior to that, Flex had one of the things
- 36:48Speaker 3: I always wanted was the head funk master. Flex throw
- 36:50Speaker 3: bombs on my on my music. And I remember I
- 36:54Speaker 3: did bang to this. It was my first solo album.
- 36:58Speaker 3: Shout to Qui Dar and hey Don Matsenberg and I
- 37:02Speaker 3: was signed to Motown.
- 37:03Speaker 1: That was my first solo album. Like I can you
- 37:05Speaker 1: fucking believe it?
- 37:05Speaker 3: I was signed to Motown, bro, and the album was
- 37:09Speaker 3: dope And you know, I did everything right, you know
- 37:10Speaker 3: what I'm saying. But it wasn't no beef for them
- 37:12Speaker 3: in them and we were just making dope ass music.
- 37:14Speaker 3: I had Bobby Brown on the app. I had a
- 37:16Speaker 3: bunch of people Snoop Scarface, I mean a gang of people,
- 37:20Speaker 3: Foxy Kim, like you know what I'm saying, and you know,
- 37:23Speaker 3: it was dope, man, Like I got a good amount
- 37:25Speaker 3: of money for the deal.
- 37:27Speaker 1: Yeah, like shit.
- 37:27Speaker 3: So I don't know, man, It's like when you look
- 37:30Speaker 3: back and I don't try to live with regrets. But
- 37:33Speaker 3: for some reason, the one with Sylvia, maybe because she
- 37:36Speaker 3: was a woman, and again it was that motherly type
- 37:38Speaker 3: of thing, and that moment felt like my mother was
- 37:41Speaker 3: talking to me. I kind of regretted that, you know
- 37:45Speaker 3: what I'm saying, because you know, that's all I ever wanted.
- 37:48Speaker 3: You know, Flex was throwing bombs on bang to this
- 37:51Speaker 3: man in New York. I'm from Boston, kid from Boston,
- 37:55Speaker 3: Like I'm finally getting my music. I took so hard,
- 37:57Speaker 3: we done lost so many guys in Boston, and that
- 38:00Speaker 3: was affiliated with us because you know, it was crazy then,
- 38:03Speaker 3: you know. So you know what I'm saying that the
- 38:06Speaker 3: battle didn't mess with my career absolutely because he has
- 38:11Speaker 3: a big fan base. He was making so much money,
- 38:14Speaker 3: and I'm just it wasn't me trying to battle him.
- 38:16Speaker 3: I'm just trying to say, hey, look, hip hop is
- 38:19Speaker 3: bringing all these white folks to us, a beautiful thing.
- 38:22Speaker 1: It's merging the coaches. It's is dope.
- 38:25Speaker 3: But I've seen how you know, Jimmy and them, and
- 38:29Speaker 3: there was positioned to him. They wanted him. And this
- 38:31Speaker 3: is where I started talking about the Trump thing. They
- 38:33Speaker 3: I go back to it. They wanted him for all
- 38:36Speaker 3: those white people I was talking about earlier that don't
- 38:38Speaker 3: mess with black people aren't for nothing. It just doesn't matter,
- 38:41Speaker 3: and they just don't mess with them. They don't care,
- 38:44Speaker 3: like if if you're rapping or whatever, we'll we'll mess
- 38:46Speaker 3: with rap if he's rapping, because he's one of us.
- 38:50Speaker 3: So now they will build him on a pedestal because
- 38:53Speaker 3: hip hop is such an influential, influential platform platform and
- 38:57Speaker 3: it gets into these white kids souls and spirits. That
- 39:01Speaker 3: was to me that they didn't want that they so
- 39:03Speaker 3: it's like, we got to give you one of our own.
- 39:06Speaker 3: And that's why they hold on to him so much.
- 39:07Speaker 3: Now he's six almost sixty like me, but they haven't
- 39:10Speaker 3: had another one since him, and they want to hold
- 39:13Speaker 3: on because that's their seat at the hip hop table,
- 39:16Speaker 3: is him. But if they just understand, just come in
- 39:19Speaker 3: hip hop and everything's good. It doesn't have to be
- 39:21Speaker 3: white and black. They make it like that. And these
- 39:24Speaker 3: are these are his fans, and these are the fans.
- 39:26Speaker 2: I feel like Generation Z is a lot more and absolutely.
- 39:30Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, no, absolutely not.
- 39:33Speaker 3: Absolutely so because those places Montana, remember I told you
- 39:37Speaker 3: they South Dakota, Dakota, those places still Generation.
- 39:41Speaker 2: I feel like there's a lot more though absolutely not,
- 39:44Speaker 2: because I see a lot more black artists.
- 39:47Speaker 1: You know why festivals, the Trump look at Trump and
- 39:49Speaker 1: look at the election. The country split.
- 39:52Speaker 3: There's what three hundred million people here and one hundred
- 39:55Speaker 3: and fifty million of white, all white voting for Trump.
- 39:58Speaker 1: All right, so what's that telling you?
- 39:59Speaker 3: Right?
- 40:00Speaker 2: He did, he did, he's great at uh, he had
- 40:03Speaker 2: a great marketing strand no, no.
- 40:04Speaker 1: No, right, right, just to just appeal to the whites.
- 40:07Speaker 1: Forget about everything else.
- 40:08Speaker 3: Just say we don't like blacks, we don't like Spanish,
- 40:10Speaker 3: and you're gonna get all the whites in those rural
- 40:12Speaker 3: areas that never came out before stand behind me. Because
- 40:15Speaker 3: Trump is a city white guy. He's not one of them,
- 40:18Speaker 3: he's fo he's more black than than them.
- 40:22Speaker 1: It's just that he needed them for the votes.
- 40:24Speaker 3: So because his policies fucked them up too, they they
- 40:27Speaker 3: just want to be again. They've been marginalized. We think
- 40:30Speaker 3: we've been marginalized. Shit, we on Instagram popping. They're like,
- 40:33Speaker 3: fuck that, this is fucked up. They want to they
- 40:35Speaker 3: want some of this cartoon. It's attention. So so Trump
- 40:38Speaker 3: like comes stand behind me, and that's how they got
- 40:40Speaker 3: the votes.
- 40:42Speaker 1: And that's what's messing us up.
- 40:43Speaker 2: He went to do those small towns, in those rural areas.
- 40:47Speaker 2: I saw the campaign. I'll never forget it. I was like, yeah,
- 40:49Speaker 2: he did them small towns.
- 40:50Speaker 3: But there's seventeen billion of them, you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 40:54Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying this, this, this, it's there's
- 40:57Speaker 3: too much land with with with telling you we just
- 41:00Speaker 3: take it for granted because we amongst white people in
- 41:03Speaker 3: the city, which that's how it should be.
- 41:05Speaker 1: I love all people. I was raised to love all people.
- 41:08Speaker 3: But I come from Boston where it was racist and
- 41:10Speaker 3: segregated too.
- 41:11Speaker 2: Speaking of all these things, Uh, it's time for our
- 41:14Speaker 2: mental health check in one time for the Faith Project
- 41:17Speaker 2: transitional housing for X offenders. Aisha, How does Benzino keep
- 41:24Speaker 2: his mental health strong?
- 41:25Speaker 1: Jim? I work out and smoke, Okay.
- 41:29Speaker 2: I said, you don't pray, don't go to therapist.
- 41:31Speaker 3: Of course I pray, but but but you know, my prayer.
- 41:34Speaker 3: I thank God like a lot anything that happens to
- 41:37Speaker 3: me good. It could be something good. I could just
- 41:38Speaker 3: be getting picked up on too. Thank you God. I
- 41:41Speaker 3: just thank God all day for the everything. So you
- 41:45Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. And my girl gave me a
- 41:48Speaker 3: good prayer that I say. You know, I don't say
- 41:51Speaker 3: it all the time, but I say it when when
- 41:54Speaker 3: you know, when I can. You know, my mental health
- 41:58Speaker 3: is really the gym, you know, weed. And then just
- 42:01Speaker 3: like I don't let myself defeat myself any I don't
- 42:04Speaker 3: let my thoughts defeat myself anytime. An you know, anytime
- 42:08Speaker 3: thoughts come in me, I just I just defeat them.
- 42:10Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying with positivity or with something
- 42:13Speaker 3: that's gonna put me in a good move. You know,
- 42:15Speaker 3: I just don't let myself think about something because it
- 42:19Speaker 3: doesn't exist. Before the Internet, that was the that was
- 42:23Speaker 3: the mirage. It's your own thoughts. Now the Internet is
- 42:26Speaker 3: the mirage. So you know you have to kind of
- 42:28Speaker 3: go about it the same way you know you have to.
- 42:32Speaker 3: You are you are your worst enemy. You know you
- 42:34Speaker 3: control you, but when you let your thoughts control you,
- 42:38Speaker 3: then that's where it gets tricky. You have to control
- 42:41Speaker 3: your thoughts and control yourself.
- 42:43Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. Yourself and your thoughts are
- 42:45Speaker 1: two different things.
- 42:46Speaker 2: You speaking of control, We're going to control this moment.
- 42:49Speaker 2: We got some we got some presence for you. Man.
- 42:51Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. Well, we had a present
- 42:53Speaker 2: for you one time for or Watch luxury watches. You
- 42:56Speaker 2: feel me, it's that frost you feel me, Skeleton Royce
- 43:01Speaker 2: get for your brother.
- 43:02Speaker 1: Oh man, that's wow, that's kind of this a wow.
- 43:07Speaker 1: Look at this.
- 43:07Speaker 7: Huh man, what I came here a long time ago. Yeah,
- 43:14Speaker 7: I come here when you come the come on. Oh
- 43:18Speaker 7: that's beautiful man. Oh that is so dope. Man, God
- 43:22Speaker 7: bless you.
- 43:22Speaker 1: I really know your fit.
- 43:25Speaker 3: You're rocking this. No, no, I'm rocking this, trust me.
- 43:30Speaker 3: Look at that colors browness. Oh, this is beautiful man.
- 43:33Speaker 2: Cold. To make sure you go to the R website.
- 43:36Speaker 2: You r a dot com.
- 43:38Speaker 1: Let me do it. Please go to the R website
- 43:40Speaker 1: Aura a u R.

- 43:47Speaker 3: be with Ura dot watch. Go to Aura dot watch
- 43:51Speaker 3: and don't funk with my uror like this should be
- 43:53Speaker 3: the l T.
- 43:55Speaker 2: I like that I like that.
- 43:57Speaker 1: I like that with my aura.
- 44:00Speaker 3: Yeah oh yes, yeah yeah do not yeah yeah, don't
- 44:03Speaker 3: fuck with my aura. We always on time and yeah.

- 44:17Speaker 6: Okay, okay, okay, Now speaking of fucking with people or
- 44:23Speaker 6: what's your aura like with Tony Yeo and fifty.
- 44:26Speaker 3: Man Tony and fifty Wow, listen first, I want to
- 44:29Speaker 3: say that.
- 44:30Speaker 1: Okay, this is how I like to start it off.
- 44:34Speaker 3: No, no, no, I like to start off. Fifty is
- 44:36Speaker 3: an absolute legend in the game. His catalog is amazing.
- 44:40Speaker 3: He's done amazing things with television and I mean very
- 44:44Speaker 3: talented as an actor. I mean, okay, it's just a
- 44:48Speaker 3: shame that it's just a shame that somebody with that
- 44:53Speaker 3: much talent, coming from where he came from, can't just
- 44:56Speaker 3: be more responsible with his platform and with his brand
- 45:00Speaker 3: who he is when it comes to black people, it's.
- 45:04Speaker 1: The same stephen A. Smith thing.
- 45:08Speaker 3: When you look at all his success, there's something there
- 45:12Speaker 3: and hey, look we all have had Trauma's Lord knows.
- 45:16Speaker 3: I've seen guys with their brain splat, it cut open.
- 45:20Speaker 1: My man died of marow. I've been.
- 45:21Speaker 3: I've seen some, you know, But you know, we learn
- 45:25Speaker 3: how to live with it, right, and we still treat
- 45:28Speaker 3: people with respect and kindness. And you know, there's something
- 45:32Speaker 3: there that's not allowing him to allow somebody, his peers,
- 45:37Speaker 3: especially which is worse his peers, to be good as
- 45:42Speaker 3: him or better. There's something that he won't allow. This
- 45:46Speaker 3: is it's something not clicking right in his soul and
- 45:49Speaker 3: spirit that will allow one of his peers who happened
- 45:52Speaker 3: to be black as him, came up the same way
- 45:55Speaker 3: as him, won't allow them, won't all the thought of
- 46:01Speaker 3: them being great bothers him. And you can call it trolling,
- 46:06Speaker 3: because I don't even that's not even in my vocabulary.
- 46:09Speaker 1: I ain't, you know.
- 46:10Speaker 3: I was born before the internet and I've been in
- 46:12Speaker 3: the streets all my life. I don't know what trolling is.
- 46:14Speaker 3: I know what disrespect is. That's all I know, you know.
- 46:19Speaker 2: Okay, So I really, in my in my opinion, I
- 46:23Speaker 2: just really think he's trolling, which and I just don't
- 46:26Speaker 2: think he can.
- 46:26Speaker 3: Okay, then let me then let me counter that when
- 46:29Speaker 3: you look at he's petty when you look, okay, but
- 46:34Speaker 3: but being petty around the crib, which you're playing around,
- 46:38Speaker 3: but being petty in business and in careers and in
- 46:42Speaker 3: personal lives, it becomes different.
- 46:44Speaker 1: There are levels of petty that shouldn't be touched.
- 46:47Speaker 3: You know, we could play with the word petty and
- 46:49Speaker 3: say it's petty and just minimize the word. But yes,
- 46:52Speaker 3: depending on how petty you're being, what.
- 46:56Speaker 1: He does is beyond petty.
- 46:58Speaker 3: It's it's a psychological situation going on there that you
- 47:01Speaker 3: could tell that there's definitely something wrong there because everybody
- 47:07Speaker 3: that he comes with, as successful as he is as
- 47:10Speaker 3: an individual, he definitely has a problem with people that
- 47:14Speaker 3: even he makes money with.
- 47:18Speaker 1: You know, you look at his whole.
- 47:19Speaker 3: Crew from Game Young Buck, Olivia, the whole crew he's gotten.
- 47:24Speaker 1: Into it with.
- 47:24Speaker 3: Of these are people that he signed and he's very
- 47:28Speaker 3: successful and making money off him, and he's had problems
- 47:31Speaker 3: with How do you have people with are making money
- 47:33Speaker 3: for you.
- 47:34Speaker 1: Then you look at.
- 47:35Speaker 3: Power him and Omari this is the man that made
- 47:39Speaker 3: Power what it was.
- 47:40Speaker 1: How do you have a problem with him?
- 47:42Speaker 3: Then you look at BMF Meets and his son, how
- 47:46Speaker 3: do you You're not having problems with.
- 47:51Speaker 1: The side guys, or the or the or the or the.
- 47:54Speaker 3: Stylists, or you having with the people who are majorly
- 47:58Speaker 3: making you money in your endeavors. How do you have
- 48:03Speaker 3: a problem with everybody?
- 48:04Speaker 2: Well, I'm a bad person to reply to this because
- 48:07Speaker 2: I'm a fifty fan, right, So okay, my answer to
- 48:11Speaker 2: you is because you know, in business and and and
- 48:14Speaker 2: structurized situations, when things go left, he just detaches. This
- 48:20Speaker 2: is what I'm seeing from now side looking in. When
- 48:23Speaker 2: something shady happens, he literally looks like he just said,
- 48:26Speaker 2: all right, fuck it, Nory. Are we not seeing that
- 48:32Speaker 2: in real time? He's literally like debting the situation and saying,
- 48:36Speaker 2: all right, cool, you crossed me. F you now you
- 48:40Speaker 2: want to go low?
- 48:41Speaker 1: Let me give another example.
- 48:42Speaker 2: Correct me if I'm wrong. Anybody that's literally no, no, no, no.
- 48:47Speaker 1: I mean it would be cool if that was one
- 48:50Speaker 1: of two people.
- 48:50Speaker 3: But everybody he has problems with his Forget about the
- 48:53Speaker 3: people on the outside.
- 48:54Speaker 1: He's having problems with jay Z. Anybody jay Z? Did
- 48:58Speaker 1: he the biggest.
- 48:59Speaker 3: Guys he has problems with, you know, but these are
- 49:02Speaker 3: people in his camp that he's making money with.
- 49:04Speaker 1: I haven't seen that before.
- 49:06Speaker 3: I just haven't experienced that to that level, to that
- 49:09Speaker 3: many people.
- 49:10Speaker 1: I've never I've been in this game since day one,
- 49:12Speaker 1: I just haven't seen it.
- 49:15Speaker 3: Of course, you could have an artist and it didn't
- 49:17Speaker 3: work out, but all these artists, including Lloyd Banks, these
- 49:21Speaker 3: are all they were all successful in doing good. Is
- 49:24Speaker 3: something about there's a mechanism that won't allow him to
- 49:28Speaker 3: have anybody as big as him.
- 49:30Speaker 1: He does.
- 49:30Speaker 3: He wants to be the biggest. And you know that's that,
- 49:34Speaker 3: ain't it me? I had a big crew, but I stood.
- 49:37Speaker 3: I always stood shoulder to shoulder. I never try to
- 49:40Speaker 3: be the biggest. You know what I'm saying. That's how
- 49:42Speaker 3: you that's how you maintain a situation. And with him
- 49:47Speaker 3: even now, like the thing about him, he knows how
- 49:49Speaker 3: to control the narrative with bots and paying people around
- 49:54Speaker 3: the clock to put out misinformation.
- 49:57Speaker 1: Let me give you the new one, and this is
- 49:59Speaker 1: a good one. This one came out.
- 50:00Speaker 3: You see the thing where they just came out and
- 50:02Speaker 3: said one hundred and twenty four million. He's about to job.
- 50:04Speaker 3: See that that he's you know with the shreefs Port movie.
- 50:09Speaker 3: That's Cat, thanks you, that's super Cat. And let me
- 50:14Speaker 3: just tell you why. First of all, right, Louisiana. I
- 50:17Speaker 3: love Louisiana. I love the people Louisiana, streets Port, Baton Rouge.
- 50:21Speaker 3: I was in Gonzales. I got a lot of friends
- 50:23Speaker 3: down there, like they loved me down there in them hoods.
- 50:25Speaker 3: And you know, so you know, there's no knock on nothing.
- 50:28Speaker 3: So Shreet's Port, it seems like somebody kind of condiments
- 50:31Speaker 3: to getting that property that was probably sitting there collecting,
- 50:34Speaker 3: you know, dust, darned and bushes. For years, he's been
- 50:38Speaker 3: saying this is what he's gonna do now with the
- 50:40Speaker 3: internet and with his fans.
- 50:43Speaker 1: Not you you good, good good, But.
- 50:46Speaker 3: Yeah, he has some really impressionable, kind of corny fans
- 50:51Speaker 3: that just you know, no, not you, no, I'm not
- 50:54Speaker 3: saying that, you know, okay, okay, because he has he
- 50:57Speaker 3: has the luxury of getting a lot of Eminem's fans,
- 50:59Speaker 3: which are out of white fans, you know, fans that
- 51:02Speaker 3: are not necessarily in the culture.
- 51:03Speaker 1: That's so let's put that there, all right, And he
- 51:06Speaker 1: knows that.
- 51:07Speaker 3: So when you put out these visuals of New Orleans
- 51:13Speaker 3: that was trying to do movies in New Orleans, New
- 51:15Speaker 3: Orleans last for the movie. It fell twenty five percent
- 51:19Speaker 3: just last year in New Orleans. Now, New Orleans is
- 51:22Speaker 3: where the people are at the tourism. So if it's
- 51:24Speaker 3: not working the larger amount of so if it's not
- 51:27Speaker 3: working in New Orleans.
- 51:29Speaker 1: Now, he said that he's gonna invest one hundred and
- 51:31Speaker 1: twenty four million.
- 51:32Speaker 3: Dollars and in twenty years it's gonna eighteen billion dollars.
- 51:36Speaker 3: That's almost a billion a year. Right, they can't even
- 51:40Speaker 3: make a couple of hundred million in New Orleans from movies.
- 51:43Speaker 3: They're giving people fifty percent tax breaks just to come
- 51:46Speaker 3: shoot down there. How in the hell is Shreevesport gonna
- 51:50Speaker 3: make a billion a year from the TV movie industry.
- 51:53Speaker 3: And again, this thing that he put out that's everywhere
- 51:56Speaker 3: the blogs pick up. It was commissioned by Geniu. This
- 52:00Speaker 3: report that he's putting out the hundreds. It's all cap
- 52:03Speaker 3: it's just that he knows right now he's having problems
- 52:05Speaker 3: with pat Pools.
- 52:06Speaker 1: He's having problems as far as the algorithm.
- 52:08Speaker 3: He's having problems with that fabulous diss So, hey, let's
- 52:11Speaker 3: put that out and then my fans will hop on it.
- 52:13Speaker 1: They'll jump on it. Yeah, fifty he's like, yeah.
- 52:15Speaker 3: Yeah, these people are obsessed the shady fans, Eminem fifty fans.
- 52:20Speaker 1: They're a different type of fans because they're not accepted
- 52:23Speaker 1: in the cool club of the culture.
- 52:26Speaker 3: This is their way of just forcing their way. Just
- 52:30Speaker 3: it's fifty fifty, it's Eminem And it's like no, absolutely not,
- 52:33Speaker 3: Like they're the ones that are getting fooled. You can't
- 52:35Speaker 3: fool me now. I'm not saying that that he's gonna try,
- 52:39Speaker 3: because I don't know if as far as I'm concerned
- 52:41Speaker 3: that nothing's moving in Treesport right now at them buildings
- 52:44Speaker 3: I seen about two months ago we put things out
- 52:46Speaker 3: with the big G unit all glass building with the
- 52:49Speaker 3: G unit sign, Like where's that building at the sport?
- 52:52Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, Like, come on, man, Like
- 52:54Speaker 3: you see, he uses that the same way Trump and
- 52:57Speaker 3: the same way other people use it to push their narrative,
- 52:59Speaker 3: people making money that way on fooling people, to make
- 53:03Speaker 3: them think that they're bigger and doing more than what
- 53:05Speaker 3: they are. All he has to do is make you know,
- 53:07Speaker 3: have somebody draw up the visuals for it, put the
- 53:10Speaker 3: headline up there, and then go pay a few blogs
- 53:13Speaker 3: and put it up.
- 53:13Speaker 1: And next thing.
- 53:14Speaker 3: You know, it's a distraction from that fabulous disc and
- 53:17Speaker 3: that ate his ass up for him to answer that,
- 53:19Speaker 3: for him to say, oh, man, fifties getting ready to
- 53:22Speaker 3: put six thousand jobs in Streetport and it's gonna make eighteen's.
- 53:25Speaker 1: That's a lie, you lying to the people. Bro.
- 53:28Speaker 3: It doesn't economically even add up. But he knows he
- 53:31Speaker 3: takes for granted the culture not knowing stuff like that.
- 53:35Speaker 3: And he also figures that he has a fan base
- 53:38Speaker 3: that's just gonna believe. Hey, you know, I'm shitting out
- 53:41Speaker 3: bitcoin today in the toilet. Nigga be like, wow, you
- 53:45Speaker 3: know it's my fucking God, did you he's Etty Ship
- 53:48Speaker 3: not Bitcoin?
- 53:49Speaker 1: Oh Jesus Christ? Like yeah, man, it's it's a different
- 53:56Speaker 1: type of game, man. I just me. I'm just too authentic, authentic.
- 54:00Speaker 3: I came from the time where you know, you got
- 54:03Speaker 3: to show me from the you know, you gotta I
- 54:05Speaker 3: have to see it in front of my eyes to
- 54:07Speaker 3: believe it. I just I just did that. I did
- 54:09Speaker 3: the research and I did the math, and it just
- 54:11Speaker 3: wasn't mathing.
- 54:12Speaker 6: Okay, Well, who's gonna be hosting his boxing mac with
- 54:15Speaker 6: you and Stephen A.
- 54:16Speaker 5: Smith Man?
- 54:17Speaker 3: I want him to. I want to accept first. You
- 54:19Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. I think he would be dope.
- 54:21Speaker 3: I'm sixty, howd Stephen? He probably about the same age. No, no, No,
- 54:24Speaker 3: he's younger. He's younger, and he's bigger. He's like six
- 54:28Speaker 3: something bigger. He has a reach and everything. I would
- 54:31Speaker 3: love this. Yeah, I'm I'm, I'm yeah.
- 54:36Speaker 1: What's yeah? What's his age? Because yeah, this would be
- 54:38Speaker 1: good man. Three rounds.
- 54:40Speaker 3: I knock him out easily, easy, be easy, easy money.
- 54:44Speaker 3: That chin looks so fragile eight years old it is.
- 54:48Speaker 3: I'm sixty, let's go, let's go. Yeah, I'm knocking Curming
- 54:54Speaker 3: out first round. Yeah, absolutely, Yeah, Because again, man, somebody
- 55:03Speaker 3: got stick up for our black queen's and you know,
- 55:06Speaker 3: if it's gonna Benzeno, then let it be.
- 55:08Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Well, Steven A.
- 55:11Speaker 2: Smith, you are invited to the show, push up on this.
- 55:14Speaker 2: Let's see if we can make this match happ and
- 55:16Speaker 2: I don't think I don't think it's gonna happen, but
- 55:18Speaker 2: I don't think it's why.
- 55:19Speaker 1: Not it'll be good. I mean three rounds was three rounds?
- 55:23Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. We could say we can
- 55:24Speaker 1: hug it out after Nah, not really, I ain't gonna
- 55:27Speaker 1: hug it.
- 55:28Speaker 2: Let me ask you, Let me ask you a question.
- 55:29Speaker 2: Do you think do you think that you and Eminem
- 55:32Speaker 2: or you and fifty can ever have a conversation in squads?
- 55:36Speaker 3: Well, you know, you know when Fifty was at the
- 55:38Speaker 3: Hit Factory with Job ruined him and he got stabbed,
- 55:40Speaker 3: he ran down to my session and I helped him,
- 55:44Speaker 3: and this is you know, this was before all this,
- 55:46Speaker 3: and I sent him in a car service that I
- 55:49Speaker 3: paid for to the hospital. Did you know that story
- 55:52Speaker 3: when he was at the Hit Factory and he got
- 55:55Speaker 3: stabbed with joab ruined him.
- 55:56Speaker 1: Remember that story? Yeah? Yeah, I remember. Well that's Sony.
- 55:59Speaker 3: I was at Sony Would Made Men recording our album,
- 56:04Speaker 3: and Sony's head and Hip Factory's heir and one of
- 56:07Speaker 3: the group, mister Jesus, was out there.
- 56:09Speaker 1: Smoking a bogie and he came down.
- 56:11Speaker 3: He brought Fifty in and we was like in the
- 56:13Speaker 3: basement room they called the hip hop room.
- 56:15Speaker 1: I'm playing Madden.
- 56:15Speaker 3: It's about seven eight of us in there, and he
- 56:18Speaker 3: came in. He stood by the door, He's like yo,
- 56:20Speaker 3: and he mentioned the track masters who I knew He
- 56:23Speaker 3: was like, yeah, man, track mass say he was cool
- 56:25Speaker 3: and I was like, yeah, all right, what's uping man.
- 56:26Speaker 3: He showed me the cut where they stabbed him, you
- 56:29Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. Showed me the gun that YAlO dropped.
- 56:32Speaker 3: That Tony Yo dropped the gun he said had no bullets,
- 56:36Speaker 3: and he showed the whole room. It was a little
- 56:39Speaker 3: revolver and he said that YAlO dropped the gun.
- 56:42Speaker 1: There was no bullets. And he said he picked the
- 56:43Speaker 1: gun up. There was no bullets. He told us that.
- 56:45Speaker 1: I didn't ask him.
- 56:47Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. It was multiple, it was
- 56:49Speaker 3: it was like about it. It was like this, just
- 56:51Speaker 3: like this. We was all in the room.
- 56:54Speaker 1: So on YAlO. When YAlO tells the.
- 56:56Speaker 3: Stories, Oh man, fifty had the big forty in here.
- 56:59Speaker 3: No no, no, no, no, no, you got popped. You
- 57:01Speaker 3: dropped the gun. There was no bullets in it. Fifty
- 57:04Speaker 3: picked it up, ran down. In my session. I caught
- 57:06Speaker 3: his car service and he went to Bellevue and got
- 57:08Speaker 3: stitched up.
- 57:10Speaker 5: And that's the real story.
- 57:11Speaker 1: Why would I make some shit like that for it?
- 57:14Speaker 3: Ball al or So at sixty years old, Benzito, I mean,
- 57:20Speaker 3: I mean, don't get people have heard that that story before,
- 57:23Speaker 3: but I mean it's you know, he won't bring it up,
- 57:27Speaker 3: and you know what I'm saying, so you know what
- 57:28Speaker 3: I mean. Like, you know, so the friendship was there
- 57:31Speaker 3: right there. Being cool was there from the beginning. It
- 57:34Speaker 3: was there was no beef with me and him. He
- 57:37Speaker 3: had to take on Eminem's beef because Eminem Andem just
- 57:39Speaker 3: signed him. I respect it, I get it. We was
- 57:41Speaker 3: making distracts at each other. It ain't nothing. It's hip hop.
- 57:44Speaker 3: Hip Hop's about battling.
- 57:45Speaker 1: So you're not.
- 57:46Speaker 2: You guys are never gone.
- 57:48Speaker 1: I would never say never. Man, I'm sixty. Of course.
- 57:51Speaker 3: You know, like under the right circumstances, as men, you
- 57:53Speaker 3: should be able to. My father said these tables were
- 57:55Speaker 3: made for more than just eating. We should be able
- 57:57Speaker 3: to sit down as men at the table kids and
- 58:01Speaker 3: hash that's nothing. Nobody got killed, nobody got shot, So
- 58:03Speaker 3: we should be able to, you know, whatever's in the
- 58:05Speaker 3: passes in the past and move forward.
- 58:07Speaker 1: I'm always hoping for.
- 58:08Speaker 2: That because I do like the fact that I saw
- 58:10Speaker 2: I see fifty in Cameron and I see fifty in
- 58:14Speaker 2: fact Joe, because I remember, boy, that was heat. So
- 58:17Speaker 2: maybe it's a possibility.
- 58:19Speaker 3: I don't know, man, I think the eminem thing is
- 58:21Speaker 3: just too sticky a situation.
- 58:24Speaker 1: Man, I'd be like, damn.
- 58:26Speaker 3: I mean listen, I still get hate from his fans
- 58:29Speaker 3: daily on my Instagram daily. I don't got a whole
- 58:31Speaker 3: bunch of pages shut down because of that shit. So
- 58:34Speaker 3: you know, this is twenty two years of this. Yeah,
- 58:39Speaker 3: I'm like, man, these motherfucker's damn adn't now.
- 58:44Speaker 5: I'll be beefing forever up top man.
- 58:47Speaker 3: I mean no, no, that's that's not me. I'm listen.
- 58:51Speaker 3: I mean, I don't be one. I don't be wander.
- 58:54Speaker 3: My thing is just like he just came out with
- 58:57Speaker 3: a disrecord and I came out with this is twenty
- 58:59Speaker 3: years later. He mentioned A and Koy in a song
- 59:02Speaker 3: twenty some years later, and it was like, come.
- 59:05Speaker 5: On, well, he just put out a song in this show.
- 59:07Speaker 1: It's about a year and a half ago.
- 59:08Speaker 3: And I went down to his I went down to
- 59:10Speaker 3: his restaurant, Mam Spaghetti, and I did rap Elvis throwing
- 59:15Speaker 3: the meat balls all over. It ain't gonna stop, okay, yes'
- 59:21Speaker 3: before we go down.
- 59:22Speaker 1: We got great kids too, both of us.
- 59:24Speaker 2: That's crazy, hey, before we go because they're rapping us.
- 59:27Speaker 2: How proud are you of Koy man?
- 59:31Speaker 3: Not just proud, but in awe, Like really you're doing
- 59:34Speaker 3: her things for sure?
- 59:35Speaker 1: Oh man, Man, her daughters is so fucking adorable, bro.
- 59:41Speaker 3: Like my Yoko is my god, She's beautiful man. So
- 59:46Speaker 3: listen man, I'm you know, I'm still in awe. Man,
- 59:48Speaker 3: I'm in all with all my kids, Man, Ray, Ray,
- 59:51Speaker 3: Taj Zeno, ky Samaj. I mean listen, man, I know
- 59:56Speaker 3: you know when you got kids, man, especially when they're
- 59:59Speaker 3: financially independ what the fuck is better than that?
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. Yeah, like come on.
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: As a dad, Yeah, that's what That's how you raise
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: them in name Ray, Ray and Court, especially Court. I
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: got sons, but coys more like me than all them,
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: all my sons a chill.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: Coy's like, like, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: She's super super like motivated and she whatever she wants,
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: she's gonna get. She's never gonna take no for an answer,
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: very strong minded. I know she just had the baby
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: not too long ago. Beautiful yeah my uncle, Yeah yeah,
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: she's a beautiful, beautiful baby.
- 1:00:32Speaker 6: Man.
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: I mean you know, I'm a granddad sixty years old. Granddad,
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: you know for sure.
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: Well listen, man, it was a pleasure. I push that up.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: I listen a lot of doubt. Watch yeah, damn it.
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: And remember, if you say don't fuck with my Aura,
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: it's something Benzino sent you.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: He say he's looking you five percent off. Yeah Royce.
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: Royce said he's gonna get you five percent off. You
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: just gonna say, don't funk with my Aura and Benzino sen.
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: Uh uh Ferrari Sittings. Is you know bt Niggel Law Firm, Studios,
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: Ball Alert, Peace,
