Latest / Bible Chat Devotional / January 31 - The Choice That Shapes Your Path
Transcript
- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, January 31st.
- 0:11The choice that shapes your path every single day you're choosing
- 0:15which voice to listen to. Some voices are loud, confident,
- 0:18and seductive. They promise fun, freedom, and
- 0:21an easy path. Proverbs Chapter 9 describes
- 0:24that voice as folly. Loud, flashy, and careless, she
- 0:28calls out with confidence, but Scripture says she knows
- 0:31nothing. Her invitation looks appealing
- 0:33on the surface, but it hides A devastating truth.
- 0:36The path she offers leads to emptiness, regret, and
- 0:39destruction. The danger isn't just the choice
- 0:42itself. It's not realizing where that
- 0:44choice is taking you until you're already lost.
- 0:47Then there's another voice in today's readings, A quieter,
- 0:50more honest 1. Psalm 13 gives us David's raw
- 0:53emotions. He feels forgotten.
- 0:55He feels overwhelmed. He wonders how long God will
- 0:58seem distant. That's real life.
- 1:01Faith doesn't mean you never feel doubt or frustration.
- 1:04But what matters is where David lands, he says.
- 1:07But I have trusted in your steadfast love.
- 1:09My heart shall rejoice in your salvation.
- 1:12David chooses trust even before his situation changes.
- 1:16He doesn't deny the pain. He decides not to let it have
- 1:19the final word. And then we come to Matthew
- 1:21chapter 28, where everything shifts.
- 1:24Jesus has risen from the dead. He gives his disciples a mission
- 1:28that feels bigger than them, bigger than their strength,
- 1:31bigger than their confidence. And then he makes a promise that
- 1:34changes everything. And behold, I am with you
- 1:37always, to the end of the age. Not sometimes, not only when
- 1:41things go well. Always.
- 1:43Jesus doesn't just call you to follow him.
- 1:45He walks with you every step of the way.
- 1:48That's the real choice, shaping your path.
- 1:50Will you listen to the loud voices that promise excitement
- 1:53but leave you empty? Or will you listen to the steady
- 1:56voice of truth that offers presence, purpose, and life?
- 1:59Will you let doubt push you away from God?
- 2:01Or will you, like David, choose to trust his steadfast love even
- 2:05when answers feel delayed? Life doesn't become easier just
- 2:09because you choose God, but it does become anchored.
- 2:12You're no longer walking alone. You're no longer guessing your
- 2:15worth or direction. When you choose God's truth over
- 2:18empty noise, you choose a future shaped by his presence instead
- 2:22of your fears. Every voice is leading
- 2:24somewhere, every influence is shaping something.
- 2:27And today you get to choose again.
- 2:29Choose wisdom over folly, trust over despair, truth over
- 2:33distraction. And remember this wherever you
- 2:35go, whatever you face, Jesus has already promised.
- 2:38I am with you always. Let's pray.
- 2:41Heavenly Father, thank you for staying with me even when life
- 2:44feels confusing or loud. Help me recognize the voices
- 2:47that pull me away from You and give me the wisdom to choose
- 2:50Your truth instead. When I feel forgotten or unsure,
- 2:53teach me to trust in Your steadfast love.
- 2:56Give me courage to walk forward with purpose, knowing that Jesus
- 2:59is always with me. In Jesus name, Amen.

- 4:22Bible reading plan. Proverbs Chapter 9 verses 13 to
- 4:2718 World English Bible. The foolish woman is loud,
- 4:31undisciplined, and knows nothing.
- 4:33She sits at the door of her house, on a seat in the high
- 4:35places of the city to call to those who pass by, who go
- 4:38straight on their ways. Whoever is simple, let him turn
- 4:41in here. As for him who is void of
- 4:43understanding, she says to him, stolen water is sweet, food
- 4:47eaten in secret is pleasant, but he doesn't know that the
- 4:50departed spirits are there, that her guests are in the depths of
- 4:53she all. Psalm chapter 13.
- 4:56World English Bible for the chief musician.
- 4:59A Psalm by David. How long, Yahweh, will you
- 5:02forget me forever? How long will you hide your face
- 5:04from me? How long shall I take counsel in
- 5:06my soul, having sorrow in my heart every day?
- 5:10How long shall my enemy triumph over me?
- 5:12Behold and answer me, Yahweh, my God, give light to my eyes, lest
- 5:16I sleep in death, lest my enemy say I have prevailed against
- 5:19him, lest my adversaries rejoice when I fall.
- 5:23But I trust in your loving kindness.
- 5:25My heart rejoices in your salvation.
- 5:28I will sing to Yahweh because He has been good to me.
- 5:31Matthew Chapter 28 World English Bible Now after the Sabbath, as
- 5:36it began to dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene
- 5:39and the other Mary came to see the tomb.
- 5:41Behold, there was a great earthquake, for an Angel of the
- 5:44Lord descended from the sky and came and rolled away the stone
- 5:47from the door and sat on it. His appearance was like
- 5:50lightning, and his clothing white as snow.
- 5:53For fear of him the guards shook and became like dead men.
- 5:56The Angel answered the women. Don't be afraid, for I know that
- 6:00you seek Jesus who has been crucified.
- 6:02He is not here, for He has risen just like he said.
- 6:05Come see the place where the Lord was lying.
- 6:08Go quickly and tell his disciples He has risen from the
- 6:11dead, and behold, he goes before you into Galilee.
- 6:14There you will see him. Behold, I have told you.
- 6:17They departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy,
- 6:20and ran to bring his disciples word.
- 6:22As they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met
- 6:25them saying rejoice. They came and took hold of his
- 6:29feet and worshipped him. Then Jesus said to them, don't
- 6:32be afraid, go tell my brothers that they should go into
- 6:35Galilee, and there they will see me.
- 6:37Now while they were going, behold, some of the guards came
- 6:40into the city and told the chief priests all the things that had
- 6:43happened. When they were assembled with
- 6:45the elders and had taken counsel, they gave a large
- 6:48amount of silver to the soldiers, saying, Say that his
- 6:52disciples came by night and stole him away while we slept.
- 6:55If this comes to the governor's ears, we will persuade him and
- 6:58make you free of worry. So they took the money and did
- 7:01as they were told. This saying was spread abroad
- 7:04among the Jews and continues until today.
- 7:07But the 11 disciples went into Galilee to the mountain where
- 7:10Jesus had sent them. When they saw him, they bowed
- 7:13down to him, But some doubted. Jesus came to them and spoke to
- 7:17them, saying, All authority has been given to me in heaven and
- 7:21on earth. Go and make disciples of all
- 7:23nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the
- 7:26Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all
- 7:30things that I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always,
- 7:33even to the end of the age. Amen.
