January 31 - The Promise That Outlasts Fear · Bible Chat Devotional

• 0:02
Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
• 0:06
rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, January 31st.
• 0:11
The choice that shapes your path every single day you're choosing
• 0:15
which voice to listen to. Some voices are loud, confident,
• 0:18
and seductive. They promise fun, freedom, and
• 0:21
an easy path. Proverbs Chapter 9 describes
• 0:24
that voice as folly. Loud, flashy, and careless, she
• 0:28
calls out with confidence, but Scripture says she knows
• 0:31
  nothing. Her invitation looks appealing
• 0:33
on the surface, but it hides A devastating truth.
• 0:36
The path she offers leads to emptiness, regret, and
• 0:39
destruction. The danger isn't just the choice
• 0:42
itself. It's not realizing where that
• 0:44
choice is taking you until you're already lost.
• 0:47
Then there's another voice in today's readings, A quieter,
• 0:50
more honest 1. Psalm 13 gives us David's raw
• 0:53
  emotions. He feels forgotten.
• 0:55
He feels overwhelmed. He wonders how long God will
• 0:58
  seem distant. That's real life.
• 1:01
Faith doesn't mean you never feel doubt or frustration.
• 1:04
But what matters is where David lands, he says.
• 1:07
But I have trusted in your steadfast love.
• 1:09
My heart shall rejoice in your salvation.
• 1:12
David chooses trust even before his situation changes.
• 1:16
He doesn't deny the pain. He decides not to let it have
• 1:19
the final word. And then we come to Matthew
• 1:21
  chapter 28, where everything shifts.
• 1:24
Jesus has risen from the dead. He gives his disciples a mission
• 1:28
that feels bigger than them, bigger than their strength,
• 1:31
bigger than their confidence. And then he makes a promise that
• 1:34
changes everything. And behold, I am with you
• 1:37
always, to the end of the age. Not sometimes, not only when
• 1:41
  things go well. Always.
• 1:43
Jesus doesn't just call you to follow him.
• 1:45
He walks with you every step of the way.
• 1:48
That's the real choice, shaping your path.
• 1:50
Will you listen to the loud voices that promise excitement
• 1:53
but leave you empty? Or will you listen to the steady
• 1:56
voice of truth that offers presence, purpose, and life?
• 1:59
Will you let doubt push you away from God?
• 2:01
Or will you, like David, choose to trust his steadfast love even
• 2:05
when answers feel delayed? Life doesn't become easier just
• 2:09
because you choose God, but it does become anchored.
• 2:12
You're no longer walking alone. You're no longer guessing your
• 2:15
worth or direction. When you choose God's truth over
• 2:18
empty noise, you choose a future shaped by his presence instead
• 2:22
of your fears. Every voice is leading
• 2:24
somewhere, every influence is shaping something.
• 2:27
And today you get to choose again.
• 2:29
Choose wisdom over folly, trust over despair, truth over
• 2:33
distraction. And remember this wherever you
• 2:35
go, whatever you face, Jesus has already promised.
• 2:38
I am with you always. Let's pray.
• 2:41
Heavenly Father, thank you for staying with me even when life
• 2:44
feels confusing or loud. Help me recognize the voices
• 2:47
that pull me away from You and give me the wisdom to choose
• 2:50
Your truth instead. When I feel forgotten or unsure,
• 2:53
teach me to trust in Your steadfast love.
• 2:56
Give me courage to walk forward with purpose, knowing that Jesus
• 2:59
is always with me. In Jesus name, Amen.

Bible reading plan. Proverbs Chapter 9 verses 13 to
• 4:27
18 World English Bible. The foolish woman is loud,
• 4:31
  undisciplined, and knows nothing.
• 4:33
She sits at the door of her house, on a seat in the high
• 4:35
places of the city to call to those who pass by, who go
• 4:38
straight on their ways. Whoever is simple, let him turn
• 4:41
in here. As for him who is void of
• 4:43
understanding, she says to him, stolen water is sweet, food
• 4:47
eaten in secret is pleasant, but he doesn't know that the
• 4:50
departed spirits are there, that her guests are in the depths of
• 4:53
  she all. Psalm chapter 13.
• 4:56
World English Bible for the chief musician.
• 4:59
A Psalm by David. How long, Yahweh, will you
• 5:02
forget me forever? How long will you hide your face
• 5:04
from me? How long shall I take counsel in
• 5:06
my soul, having sorrow in my heart every day?
• 5:10
How long shall my enemy triumph over me?
• 5:12
Behold and answer me, Yahweh, my God, give light to my eyes, lest
• 5:16
I sleep in death, lest my enemy say I have prevailed against
• 5:19
him, lest my adversaries rejoice when I fall.
• 5:23
But I trust in your loving kindness.
• 5:25
My heart rejoices in your salvation.
• 5:28
I will sing to Yahweh because He has been good to me.
• 5:31
Matthew Chapter 28 World English Bible Now after the Sabbath, as
• 5:36
it began to dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene
• 5:39
and the other Mary came to see the tomb.
• 5:41
Behold, there was a great earthquake, for an Angel of the
• 5:44
Lord descended from the sky and came and rolled away the stone
• 5:47
from the door and sat on it. His appearance was like
• 5:50
lightning, and his clothing white as snow.
• 5:53
For fear of him the guards shook and became like dead men.
• 5:56
The Angel answered the women. Don't be afraid, for I know that
• 6:00
you seek Jesus who has been crucified.
• 6:02
He is not here, for He has risen just like he said.
• 6:05
Come see the place where the Lord was lying.
• 6:08
Go quickly and tell his disciples He has risen from the
• 6:11
dead, and behold, he goes before you into Galilee.
• 6:14
There you will see him. Behold, I have told you.
• 6:17
They departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy,
• 6:20
and ran to bring his disciples word.
• 6:22
As they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met
• 6:25
them saying rejoice. They came and took hold of his
• 6:29
feet and worshipped him. Then Jesus said to them, don't
• 6:32
be afraid, go tell my brothers that they should go into
• 6:35
Galilee, and there they will see me.
• 6:37
Now while they were going, behold, some of the guards came
• 6:40
into the city and told the chief priests all the things that had
• 6:43
happened. When they were assembled with
• 6:45
the elders and had taken counsel, they gave a large
• 6:48
amount of silver to the soldiers, saying, Say that his
• 6:52
disciples came by night and stole him away while we slept.
• 6:55
If this comes to the governor's ears, we will persuade him and
• 6:58
make you free of worry. So they took the money and did
• 7:01
as they were told. This saying was spread abroad
• 7:04
among the Jews and continues until today.
• 7:07
But the 11 disciples went into Galilee to the mountain where
• 7:10
Jesus had sent them. When they saw him, they bowed
• 7:13
down to him, But some doubted. Jesus came to them and spoke to
• 7:17
them, saying, All authority has been given to me in heaven and
• 7:21
on earth. Go and make disciples of all
• 7:23
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the
• 7:26
Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all
• 7:30
things that I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always,
• 7:33
even to the end of the age. Amen.
