Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: There is only one rule in Vegas right now.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Wear a mask.
- 0:05SPEAKER_01: Welcome to Vegas Revealed, episode 23.
- 0:09SPEAKER_01: That's right, masks are required inside hotel casinos in Las Vegas now.
- 0:13SPEAKER_01: The change started on Friday.
- 0:15SPEAKER_01: In fact, they're required in all public places in Nevada now.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: We wait and see how this is going to affect tourism.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: The full lowdown on what's going on all around Las Vegas now on a rapid-fire episode of Vegas Reveal.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: Well, every week it's something different, but numbers are up, and our governor is trying to take the required mask approach instead of having to shut us down again.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: I'm Dana Roselli.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: And I'm Sean McAllister.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: Here's the deal.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: We are doing a rapid fire seven-minute episode of the podcast today.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: There is a lot to talk to.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: Masks are the big deal to this week, Dana.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they are.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: And you know, we have seven minutes left on our monthly podcast host account.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: And you know what?
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: We're being money conscious.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: We're not buying more.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: So that's what you're getting.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: Seven seven minutes.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: But yeah, everyone's talking about the mask.
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: So let's get through it.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: Um, before masks were not required, they were inquired required by employees.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: Then, if you played a table game, you were required to wear a mask.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: Now you just have to wear a mask the whole time.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: So that's the difference that changed.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: It went into effect on Friday.
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: And basically, you can't be here in any public space, even if it's privately owned, and not wear a mask.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's right.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: We were over at uh when Las Vegas and experienced this firsthand over uh for lunch at um Jardine, and then we went to um stopped at the roulette table for a little bit and talked with a dealer about his thoughts on the whole mask situation.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and by the way, I lost, then I won, then I lost.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: So there you go.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, we did.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: And he said, you know what, it's going okay.
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: People are taking it seriously when they're playing the table games.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: Um, and they do have some of the tables with the the dividers, some some didn't.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: But uh he was great and he said, you know, we're just going with the flow, doing what we can.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: And now all that's changed.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: So basically everyone on the casino floor has to be wearing masks.
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: And I was reading on Twitter that people saying, you know, if you're at the win, if that mask is even below your nose, you're gonna get poked on the shoulder and say, hey, lift it up.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: So obviously, these these casinos, uh, resorts, and really all businesses taking this seriously because you personally can't get a ticket, but it's the business that will will have the penalty.
- 2:30SPEAKER_01: You know, they're basically, they have to follow the rules and they have to not allow people in their facility if they're not wearing a mask.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: So it's basically no mask, no service.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but we are hearing that um, you know, the the union that represents culinary workers on the strip, this is all, you know, food service workers, a wide variety of jobs really, um, in our Las Vegas resorts.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: They are filing uh a lawsuit um against major resort operators because employees are testing positive for uh coronavirus now that they are back to work.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: So this is definitely not slowing down um a lot of things that are gonna keep developing.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: And you know, we'll keep you updated on it.
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's for sure.
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: We do have a couple more resorts opening around July 1st.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: I think one of them is ARIA.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: So um, I don't know if that will change or not.
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: For now, it seems a go, though.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: I'm switching gears.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: There is some good news about organizations that are uh hiring new employees.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Um, at Allegiance Stadium, they're hiring uh Resorts World, the new big resort on the Las Vegas Strip, is hiring.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: Also, um Circa, the new resort downtown, has posted jobs.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: I mean, we're happy to see that because we do know so many people have lost their jobs or they just haven't been called back yet and it's not looking good for them.
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: We have a lot of people out of work, so just be aware if you are a dealer or you've worked in a resort before, you have experience, hop online and check this out.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: Also, with Allegiant Stadium, they're looking for part-time uh employees, you know, really runs the gamut.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: There's a wide range of jobs that they're hiring for.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: So check it out, get your resumes in there.
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: And speaking of circa, they they open in December fully.
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: October, the casino area is gonna open and they're doing 21 and over, Sean.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: This is something different for Vegas.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: My confetti cannons are going off, Dana.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: So yeah, there's um through in the booking process, there's uh apparently a box that you need to check that says, you know, I acknowledge this is a 21 and over resort.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: So if you show up with your kids, there's a good chance that uh the front desk staff is going to direct you to either the D or uh Golden Gate, where um, you know, the same ownership as Circa Las Vegas and where kids are allowed to stay.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: But Circa, uh-uh-uh, leave the kids at home.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: All right, Dana, you ready for our tips?
- 4:55SPEAKER_01: One that I got from Brian, who is an avid listener, says, you know, he's been driving Lyft and um just wanted to point out that, you know, there is a lack of Lyft in Uber drivers right now, and people are having to wait at least 30 minutes for an Uber.
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: I did experience this when I had some friends in town.
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: They had trouble getting an Uber at all.
- 5:12SPEAKER_01: If not, they had to wait 15 to 30 minutes for it to arrive.
- 5:16SPEAKER_01: Very different than what we've experienced before.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: Usually it's in minutes you can get an Uber and Lyft.
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: But he was saying right now he's driving for Lyft.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: They have a lot of incentives going for drivers.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: Um, but something he recommended, and here's the tip, is book ahead.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: If you know you're going somewhere, maybe you're gonna go out to dinner, you want to take an Uber or a Lyft, book ahead, plan it, and that should help solve the problem.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: So, kind of along those same lines, um, my tip of the week is the Go Vegas app.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: This is something that you're gonna want to download, whether you're a Las Vegas local, or if you are driving into town from Arizona, Utah, uh, California.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: This is a great tool to have because the Go Vegas app shows you where all of the parking lots are in downtown Las Vegas, down around the the Fremont Street area.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: And there are um paid parking lots down there.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: They're metered parking, which that's fine.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: It's not a it's not a huge expense at all.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: But the great thing about it is that you don't even have to deal with um the parking meters if you have this app.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: You can load your payment information right into the app and have a touchless experience.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: You just uh enter in with you tap on the parking lot where your vehicle is parked, you enter your space number, and you can uh pay your your parking right from the app, which is great.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: And if you find that you're out and about for longer than you expected, you can re-up your parking um within seconds.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: So the Go Vegas app.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: It's got a lot of other information about uh the downtown Las Vegas area as well.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: Well, that's it.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: Woo! I gotta take a deep breath.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Thanks for being here on this rapid fire edition of Vegas Reveal.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: Have a good week.
