- 0:18Returned to Glory Podcast Season five finale. It's been a few weeks. Boys
- 0:24Hunter's Arbernikki, Austin Rose Da Code of free Tag. We got the spring
- 0:28game has come and gone. Transfer Portal talk, Nebraska basketball baseball wrapping up
- 0:37already, Huskers having a good season. We got Dak's got some updates on
- 0:41our volleyball players that he talked to at Berries. Where do we start?
- 0:46I think we have to start with the volleyball players at Berries. That's definitely
- 0:49definitely number one, Dak. I didn't talk to him. You did talk
- 0:55to him, Tell everybody that believe it or not. I didn't talked to
- 1:00him. I saw him there though, Okay, I saw I saw Ali
- 1:04Bainton, Horse and Lexadriguez there, and she probably thought it was a freaking
- 1:08creep because I was looking. I was trying to figure out that was her,
- 1:11and she definitely like, who the hell's this guy? Where you were
- 1:17you pretty turned up at that point where you had your one eyes squinting like
- 1:21you normally do. Oh yeah, And I almost went and talked about USC,
- 1:25but I held my tongue. I really wanted to, because you know,
- 1:30I hate that school. Yeah, you know, you would have said
- 1:33something about Caleb Williams and Lincoln Riley and they would have been like what I
- 1:38almost did think, Guy, I didn't. Well, that was an underwhelming
- 1:46story, Dak. I was really hoping there's a little more there. I
- 1:49know. I my recruiting trip this time didn't go as good at Berry's.
- 1:57Yeah, I guess the real news coming out of the ball ball team with
- 2:01a couple of the girls getting in trouble. Obviously Harper getting the d u
- 2:06I a few weeks ago and then stole some rings a few days ago from
- 2:10Shields, so as hadn't think come up from that yet. No, and
- 2:15I don't know anything will. I think the DUI is probably more worrisome,
- 2:23but just not good. I guess I know what you want to hear,
- 2:30you know, coming out for the one team that does well. But I'm
- 2:36sure we'll be fine one team that does well. So far, we got
- 2:39momentum though, so far are you starting to sit the kool aid? Hunter,
- 2:46I'll tell you what we got. We got some stuff to talk about.
- 2:49Okay, So, first thoughts spring game. I think we say this
- 2:58every year. What's great and what's also the worst part of the spring game?
- 3:06Is you can analyze and nitpick everything on a positive or negative note,
- 3:12right because one side of the ball, when a good thing happens, or
- 3:15one play a good thing happens, it means it's bad for the other side
- 3:19of the ball. And I think a lot of people just default to thinking
- 3:23about how the offense played right and when the defense does play well, which
- 3:29I mean, if you want to talk about last year's spring game when everybody
- 3:31thought the spring game was bad and sloppy, well, the defense forced seven
- 3:38turnovers technically, if you look at it that way, and what was our
- 3:40strength of our team last year? It was the defense. So it just
- 3:46it's funny how you can nitpick and go both ways in the spring game no
- 3:53matter what you think. Now there's obviously a gut just overall feeling coming out
- 3:59of the game and how it looked wasn't clean. How are the turnovers or
- 4:03in the penalties stuff like that. How as it ran. I will say
- 4:08this, I appreciate every year that we have a spring game where we tackle
- 4:13people to the ground and completely play. We don't do the quarterbacks. That's
- 4:16fine. I think don't know that anybody really does. So that's not like
- 4:20a disappointment of mine. It did lead to a couple of plays that we'll
- 4:25talk about that probably wouldn't have happened. But I do think overall, the
- 4:30vibe check for the football team was yeah good, like seven out of ten,
- 4:35like eight out of ten, like ViBe's good. I will the last
- 4:41comment opening comment. I was pissed then they don't have numbers in the back
- 4:44of their practice jerseys because I was trying to tell who everybody was real time.
- 4:48Now TV watching, you probably didn't have much of a problem, but
- 4:53at the game it was hard to see who was who until it got announced.
- 4:59Yeah, one where why don't they wear their normal jerseys? A great
- 5:04question, dak you should propose that to the team. Well that's yeah,
- 5:09I mean, what's the point. Okay, that's nothing to worry about there.
- 5:15But I think I think Nebrass has be about one of the only schools
- 5:17that actually tackles during the spring game. Most schools don't. I mean,
- 5:25it makes we're entertaining spring game. I didn't watch any other spring games.
- 5:31I know we have it in the past, and it has resulted in some
- 5:35poor tackling in the season. And that's just not talking about the game.
- 5:39Also in practice as well. How much full out contact are you practicing?
- 5:46There was that one. Was it a Mike Riley team? Maybe even was
- 5:49a Frost team planning team. I don't know that. We like weren't tackling
- 5:54at all because we were so focused on injuries and we could not tackle a
- 5:57soul. Yeah who is now on the board for the college Fooball playoffs.
- 6:03So you know, a little inside pull there that good or bad? It's
- 6:11probably not bad. You got a ton of money by the university. Yes,
- 6:15I will say this is how I want Okay, this is how I
- 6:18want us to go through the spring game, all the different position groups,
- 6:23players, wherever you want to go. Because it's so hard to talk good
- 6:29and bad, Like I went into the game with an expectation of how people
- 6:33should perform or how we thought they would perform. We'll make that like the
- 6:39middle, make that a five out of ten. As we're talking, I
- 6:42want you guys to talk about like if they exceeded that, obviously go up
- 6:46the scale. If they didn't meet expectations to go below that, but a
- 6:49five out of ten is like, yep, they did what we thought they
- 6:51were going to do. So Austin I'll let you start wherever you want to
- 6:58go, like a spring game takeaway thought. You can go anywhere you want.
- 7:00There's obviously some more obvious talking points than others. Yeah, there are.
- 7:08I'll start with one of them. Two missed field goals not what you
- 7:13want to see in a spring game. Wait to start negative. I love
- 7:15it. I'm just gonna get that. That was the first thing. There
- 7:18were two things. It was the kicking in the passing and the kicking that
- 7:21was bad. And the passing was good and the kicking. You missed a
- 7:26thirty two yarder and a forty three yarder, like, oh man, that
- 7:30is not how I wanted to see that happen in the spring game. I
- 7:34honestly don't think Tristan's gonna be this. I don't know if Tristan will be
- 7:38the starter next year. I have no I how I don't know how you
- 7:44feel good about it. Thanks for starting negative. Here are my notes special
- 7:48teams. Can we make a fucking field goal and quit shanking fucking punts like
- 7:58that was the one frustrating part of the game. And what I don't understand
- 8:05it's been so long and we were spoiled. We've said that we were spoiled
- 8:07with field goal kickers for a few years there. But good god, you
- 8:11have one job and that's all you practice, it's all you focus your time
- 8:16on. You get to do it like three or four times a game,
- 8:22like make a field bowl. Same thing with punting. You should not be
- 8:28shanking a punt if you're a punter for division ie power five school, Like,
- 8:35how can we not find somebody that's consistent and you want to call it
- 8:37the shanks or the whatever and mentally and that shouldn't happen. That is frustrating.
- 8:43Anyways, Dak, I'm be honest. You guys did not watch a
- 8:52second, still watch a second, so I have zero clue about the spring
- 8:56game. All right, fair enough? Thanks thanks for the contributing content on
- 9:01the season finale. Can I can I hear I'll get some comments that I
- 9:05heard. A couple guys told me he looks like Ryle, looks like benj
- 9:09just mahomes yikes. Okay. And the kick okay, The kicking was another
- 9:16thing I heard was awful. How short of kick? You say you missed
- 9:18thirty two yards? You missed a thirty two and a forty yarder? Yeah,
- 9:24forty three yarder. Excuse me, he made a forty missed, the
- 9:26thirty two missed, the forty three. Hey, pro kicker missed a twenty
- 9:31nine yarder in playoff game, so that's true. In the playoff game,
- 9:39the field goal kicking and punting, to me, were bad. I will
- 9:41say. The one bright side of the special teams, which also was a
- 9:45very funny moment in the game, was the kicker turn by Jacob Burney yep,
- 9:50and had it. I mean he was going to score and thought the
- 9:56kicker was coming to celebrate with him. Wasn't hot tackled him. It was
- 10:01funny. I mean, he clearly did not know because he gets tackled.
- 10:05He looks up and goes like, wait, what the hell? And the
- 10:09kicker and the offensive line were wearing gray, so they were white. So
- 10:16it was a little bit confusing. So that was funny. But that was
- 10:20a bright side on the special teams. And two big things that stuck out
- 10:24was the shanks putt and the missfield goals, And that to me, I
- 10:28guess I wouldn't say had expected anything more, but I guess you should always
- 10:31expect to make field goals under forty yards. Yep. I didn't you said,
- 10:35I don't expect him to be one hundred percent. But in a spring
- 10:39game you come out go one for three and they're all under forty five yards,
- 10:41Like, yikes, go ahead, deck. Who would be the kicker
- 10:48besides him? I don't know, I mean, transfer portals still open,
- 10:52right, it's somebody I don't know. Get, I don't know, Just
- 10:56find somebody like that doesn't seem to me like it should be that hard.
- 11:01And Albano people say like he was the best kicker, one of the best
- 11:05kickers in the country coming out of that class, Like you can still kick,
- 11:07Well, that's fine, we'll figure out your mental side of it.
- 11:11If if if it's not physical, figure it out, find a way to
- 11:13make a kick well to once you're once your metal is gone, you're done,
- 11:20right, Yeah, hard to recover, Dak. You mentioned the other
- 11:24really big talking point, mahomes two point zero as I'm calling it. You
- 11:30want to talk about kool aid and just slurping it in the middle of the
- 11:33game after some alcoholic beverages have been drunk. Rayl okay. First off,
- 11:39Rayla Riola put out a tweet on that also it pronounced it's Riola, not
- 11:46Rey got established that Okay, Riola could be legit, guys, he could
- 11:54be really real, really good. This is a typical hunter out of the
- 12:00spring game. Compared it to a Hall of Fame quarterback. Okay, comparing
- 12:05into a Hall of Fame quarterback. Here's here's the funny part about this.
- 12:09So I had this talk after with some buddies about people Husker fans specifically when
- 12:16we talk about them drinking the kool aid, kind of being very confident in
- 12:24putting out expectations that are higher than probably what are realistic. There's two ways
- 12:28of doing this. There's one if people just being completely obnoxious and like unrealistic,
- 12:33like saying Huskers, Huskers are going to go twelve to oh women the
- 12:37natty next year or rail is mahomes like we like going over the top and
- 12:43kind of almost making a mockery out of it, but at the same time
- 12:48we're saying it, so you're joking. Then there's the people that every year
- 12:52think, Okay, our win totals five and a half, we should win
- 12:56seven or eight. We're gonna win seven or eight. It's the it's the
- 12:58confident going above expectations that people actually believe. When people say we're going to
- 13:05go twelve to zero and win a national title next year. No, no,
- 13:11no one truly believes that. Like, that's not a true belief.
- 13:13That's a that's a mockery, fun joking statement. When people say we have
- 13:18Patrick Mahomes back at quarterback, that is not saying we have Patrick Mahomes.
- 13:22That is a no one believes that he's going to turn into Patrick Mahomes.
- 13:26No one like, actually, if you had money and you want to make
- 13:30a fifty to fifty bet and say he's going to be as good as Mahomes,
- 13:31yes or no. No one's putting money that he's turning into Mahomes.
- 13:35But it's fun to say. It's fun to talk about, so that's why
- 13:39people do it. That being said, Rayola looked better what we thought,
- 13:48what we were hoping he could look like. And the biggest thing from him
- 13:54A couple of things. One thing that's pretty obvious is I think everybody noticed.
- 14:00It just looked easy. It looked so dude. I mean, the
- 14:05short passes just looked quick, sharp out of his hand. The d balls,
- 14:11it looked like he could throw it twenty yards further. It looked like
- 14:15he understood when the right time was to try to squeeze one through the window,
- 14:20which he did a few of those, which was like, holy shit,
- 14:22that was cool versus I'm just gonna throw this a little bit out of
- 14:24the receiver's reach because he's covered and no one's gonna get it unless my guy
- 14:28makes a crazy play and if he does it, by and I'll be in
- 14:31a complete pass. He's got the tools and mechanics to be elite, I
- 14:37think, and that was cool to see. The spring game, he looked
- 14:41big too, Like I mean, size wise, he did not look like
- 14:45a freshman quarter bike. He looked like he had a good size on him.
- 14:50Dak His stats were he went, let's see sixteen for twenty two with
- 14:54one reception, two touchdowns, and two hundred and in thirty nine yards,
- 15:03So pretty solid outing for Dylan. How I like, did he look pretty?
- 15:09I mean, now it's tough to say, because I will like defensively,
- 15:13we're gonna talk a lot about offense defense. We did not have most
- 15:18of our senior defensive guys playing, so our defense wasn't as good as you
- 15:20would expected to be. But he could scramble, you know, He's get
- 15:24back to the line like he's I don't think he's going to be running like
- 15:28Heinrich, but yes, and and spring game comments to it, we're going
- 15:33to focus a lot on offense. I agree with you. My one big
- 15:37defensive comment that I did have that I appreciated was still the intensity and rallying
- 15:41to the football. The couple of the one interception was a very good play
- 15:46on the ball. I thought everybody played solid. There's not wasn't anything that
- 15:50really stood out to me overall. Besides yeah, we had a lot of
- 15:54guys out, but everybody still looked like it didn't look like we took a
- 15:58huge step back, And I wouldn't say we probably exceeded from expectations from what
- 16:06we thought our defense could look like in the spring game. But they did
- 16:10a they they did a fine job. The game's purpose, and we're all
- 16:15alluded to this was to kind of showcase the offense a little bit in showcase
- 16:19these quarterbacks, showcase that we have dynamic talent. Like you looked good.
- 16:30I thought Erich looked good. He did, but I thought, like I
- 16:33thought he looked pretty smooth as well. Like obviously it's a scripted game and
- 16:37you're playing against your own defense. But I heard he looked good and the
- 16:42other guy did not look good. I can't tell you. Yeah, Healen.
- 16:48Yeah. So Heinerch went eight of thirteen for one hundred and sixty three
- 16:51yards and two touchdowns. You mentioned Ryola's stats. He also threw the interception
- 16:56which brief comment on that everyone's saying hit the receiver's hand should have got it.
- 17:02Ball was behind him like everybody's trying to defend Roola. But like NFL
- 17:07quarterbacks like that. Sorry, Ryola, I gotta get that fixed. Fifty
- 17:14to fifty on that. I thought Danny Kalin looked like a freshman quarterback in
- 17:18the spring game. That's what I thought, Like that was what a freshman
- 17:21quarterback should look like, like very raw, small, like need to put
- 17:26some muscle on. But as far as the room with three quarterbacks, I
- 17:30feel all right with it. I'm sure he was nervous Ansferry into Arizona State.
- 17:37People are still I still are people talking about do we get a veteran
- 17:42one year quarterback? No, people know, just know that's what Heinrich kids.
- 17:48He's the veteran. Riola is probably going to be our date one starter.
- 17:53And I think Heinrich has a potential to still get used in certain situations.
- 18:00To the comment on Riola running and being athletic, as what you said,
- 18:07Dak, where do you guys get used to it? Our quarterback is
- 18:11not going to be run the ball like they did the past couple of years.
- 18:15Riola is very similar. This is a not a talent comparison. But
- 18:22like Mahomes, he's mobile enough to get out of the pocket. But it's
- 18:27not like the Chiefs are calling designed runs for Patrick Mahomes. Like Mahome doesn't
- 18:33quick and but he's he's quick enough to get away, get outside the pocket
- 18:40and make a throw. But they're not gonna We're not gonna be calling runs
- 18:44for him, nor are we expecting him to be able to run for seventy
- 18:48to one hundred yards a game. Mahomes doesn't. Mahomes will, though,
- 18:51scramble and sometimes get twenty twenty five yards on a random scramble. So that's
- 18:56a that's a comparison of an NFL type quarterback. Again, not speaking to
- 18:59any other talent stuff, but just the speed and the mobility and the build.
- 19:06You see the little pudgy, little pudgy broad shoulders, a little bit
- 19:08of a belly like he looks like a good quarterback, thick, and he's
- 19:15gonna be seeing it downfield. We had a pass of sixty four sixty one,
- 19:18well, not passes, but we had passing plays go sixty four or
- 19:22sixty one twenty five, twenty seven, twenty four, twenty nine, twenty
- 19:26two, forty one. I mean they were looking downfield and were in all
- 19:32little scoop paths. Any other quarterback talk, move on running back, Well,
- 19:40let's let's go to the receivers, because I think that goes a little
- 19:44bit here hand in hand with the quarterbacks. What do we think us like?
- 19:48What do you what? What was your takeaway from our receiving group?
- 19:52I would still say the weakest offensive unit would be my take still, so
- 20:00here here promise and there's a lot of speed. But here's some of the
- 20:06stats here. Jaylen Lloyd three receptions ninety seven yards a tudy mentioned. Barney
- 20:12had three receptions for sixty six yards in the Tudy uh Bonner the converted full
- 20:18back four receptions fifty eight yards and a touchdown. A nice corner ball thrown
- 20:23by Riola, Nate Borkishier, Thomas Fadoni or tight ends I thought they both
- 20:29looked very strong. And then Pallex Bowlleck had two receptions for forty three yards.
- 20:38Yeah, I'm I agree, weakest weakest spot is a good way of
- 20:42phrasing it. Still, Here's what I kind of liked is we looked competent
- 20:52out there at least, but no one stood out to be like, Okay,
- 20:56we got that playmaker that we need, the guy that won Barney right,
- 21:00yep. We we mentioned that last year we were lacking the We've always
- 21:06had one guy that has kind of stood out, and it's been a target
- 21:08that is whether or not had a good games, your attention to them.
- 21:12I don't feel like we had that again, correct, So that's the receivers.
- 21:23The running backs. No ramiir Johnson, No Gabe Irving. Oh.
- 21:30Another receiver that didn't play was i GC Isaiah Garside Castaneda. So no,
- 21:41oh yeah, oh yeah what uh this is the third time back? Oh?
- 21:49I think he just came back running back room. I was impressed by
- 22:00a handful of guys. The two leaders was uh Dowdell had seven rushes for
- 22:04seventy six yards and two touchdowns. I thought he looked good like I thought
- 22:07he looked a good running back Emma Johnson five rushes for twenty five yards,
- 22:12a couple of leaders, a lot of other guys that had a few carries
- 22:15here there similar to ours. Surprised me he was. I was pleasanly surprised
- 22:23watching him. I liked watching him. Yeah, he looked good and the
- 22:30big breakaway run was good to see some speed. H Here's the concern on
- 22:37the skilled players, and I think it's probably more of a negative than a
- 22:41positive. We are very, very, very average and well rounded, which
- 22:48could be looked at a positive, but I also think that might mean we
- 22:52don't have any dynamic playmakers like we've mentioned, and that includes I mean you
- 22:56would hope Gabe Irving and Ramier Johnson, gave Urvin and Gave Johnson, could
- 23:03Ramier Johnson one of those guys could show some dynamic capabilities. But we've seen
- 23:07we know what they are like. We've seen them both have battled with injuries
- 23:12the past couple of years. That it worries me a little bit that that
- 23:18we're just very balanced and we're going to struggle for guys to step up and
- 23:22make big play and bring a couple of tackles. We think Rayola could do
- 23:26that at the quarterback spot. But I think you need a skill guy to
- 23:30do that. I don't know if we have that now. Maybe we have
- 23:34a bunch of sixes and sevens and that's good enough to surround potentially, right.
- 23:42So no, so defensive can't back up on your one guy, right,
- 23:47and then you're in trouble because you don't have the one guy. I
- 23:48think the optimistic Huscar fans are going to say that to me. I just
- 23:55I'm hesitant with our skilled players now. On the on the flip side of
- 24:00that, with the offensive line, who I also thought just looked very solid
- 24:04and did their job, I think that's okay. With the offensive line group
- 24:08like you, you just don't want a weak link or a guy that's gonna
- 24:11miss a lot of blocks, which we've had and see. So I thought
- 24:17they did a pretty decent job. Like it. We didn't leave the spring
- 24:21game, and Royola didn't leave the spring game going, oh, my fucking
- 24:22lord, I don't have an offensive line. I'm back here scrambling for my
- 24:26life like Casey Thompson was every time, which, by the way, Dak
- 24:32Casey number two, number one, oh you number one, No number two,
- 24:41maybe number three he'll be number two. I would think he must have
- 24:44scared General Booty away. Okay, well General Booty sucks. That guy is
- 24:51Booty. Now that guy sucks. I think Casey will be two, should
- 24:57be now that he's for sure gone. Yeah. All I gotta say that
- 25:03is remember Jackson Arnold, thanks for the OU spring game update. Appreciate it.
- 25:15Yeah, I think I think overall I agree with the special the skills
- 25:19physicians that none of them seem super special right now. Like I think we
- 25:23see people that it could be. It really depends on how the offensive line
- 25:27and Dylan function will see will you know, highlight them. It could have
- 25:32stuck. Like I said, the defense, none of our starting defensive lines
- 25:36played, so take that with a great assault the offensive line, and I
- 25:44think that was the purpose behind it too, was to make our offense look
- 25:51and provide hope for whatever that's worth with the Husker fan base. And I
- 25:57do think it did it. Like there were some kool aid being sipped just
- 26:03watching that and very much excited for the year, especially given our schedule and
- 26:10how we start the year. Joel Klatt today just this afternoon had in the
- 26:15preseason top twenty five, number twenty two. Like talked about our schedule and
- 26:21our toughest game in the first seven games is probably Colorado. We get them
- 26:25at home, guys, and you guys probably looked at this. Probably a
- 26:27lot of fans know this. Here's our schedule to start the year. We
- 26:33get UTEP at home. We finally open against a non conference opponent that should
- 26:37be beatable. I'm not gonna jinx this, but should be able to win.
- 26:41It should be one of those games that you can get tuned up for
- 26:45before your first big game. How long its been since you haven't started a
- 26:48big ten game. It's been a while. It's been the COVID season,
- 26:53right, yep. And they they've all been on the road. Yeah,
- 26:59a lot of road games or neutral site. So getting a home game,
- 27:03well yeah, even Frost first season, we were supposed to play at Yeah,
- 27:08that didn't happen. So it's been a while. That should help starting
- 27:11one in how hopefully heading into Colorado at home, Northern Iowa at home,
- 27:18Illinois at home at Purdue, Rutgers at home at Indiana, there's definite potential,
- 27:26Like you want to talk about sentence points spreads right now for all those
- 27:29games, Like we're going to be favored in probably all of those games right
- 27:33now, if you were just Vegas, we're just set a line. So
- 27:37mm hm, which one we have Colorado at home? You think you think
- 27:42it'd be favored. I think we were the better team record wise than they
- 27:47were last year. Yeah, I think we would be within one week for
- 27:53them to change the line move. Yeah, I bet that'll be the toughest
- 27:57one for sure, But again not I want to get the hopes up we're
- 28:00gonna be seven to zero, because that's that's the case. We will be
- 28:03ranked probably like twelve or something. And I haven't played anybody, but that's
- 28:10potential. And Joel Klass said it best, like you just want to look
- 28:14at it from a simple, simple standpoint of last year, how close we
- 28:17were in those games and what was the obvious thing that just kept killing us
- 28:22was turnovers. And that came from Dak's favorite quarterback, Jeff Simms, and
- 28:29we just said, we just need a quarterback that does not lose us games,
- 28:33like you don't have to. I feel like Ryola is going to do
- 28:36better than that. Great, he might win us a game, but but
- 28:41don't but don't just don't shoot us in the foot like these other guys did,
- 28:45and I think that we're gonna have that now. Our defense can't take
- 28:48a step back, but I do. I think there's potential there and it's
- 28:52gonna be a fun offseason waiting for that first game. So yeah, the
- 29:00kool aid has started to start. Got sipped a little bit. M How
- 29:06atypical of you Hunter a new lease on life this year. We have to
- 29:11leave the people on a cliffhanger heading into season six, right, so you
- 29:15can come back and be like, I don't know why everyone's drinking the kool
- 29:18aid. Matt Rule tweeted out at a wedding last weekend, and it's just
- 29:25a big red flag here. Okay, Actually to this point, two things
- 29:32with very intangible like stuff that I care about that probably doesn't matter, but
- 29:37I think matters, and two positives. One that started out, So I'll
- 29:44start with Rule. In the spring game, he was leading our team out
- 29:48of the tunnel. Now it's like, god damn it, Map's gonna make
- 29:53it all about him now now that he's in year two, because last year
- 29:57he was always behind the scenes like somehow ended up on the field but didn't
- 30:03want to be front and center, Like God damn it. Max's leading the
- 30:04team out. He wants it to be all about him as it were screwed.
- 30:08Good news is Matt fell back in the pack, walked off the side,
- 30:11did what he normally did after the initial coming out of the locker room.
- 30:15So that turned into a positive second, very positive thing. Small thing,
- 30:22but this actually excited me the most about Royola. This guy leaves the
- 30:29White team. Yeah, he was with the White team to start the game,
- 30:32like out of the locker room, like he was the one running out
- 30:34on the field in front of everybody. And we talk about cockiness and arrogance
- 30:42out of a freshman quarterback, that's very impressive. That just tells you that
- 30:47he's comfortable, he's in control. Jeff Simms never let us out one time.
- 30:52Jeff Simms never had that ego or confidence to do that. And sometimes
- 30:57can it be a negative, yes, But at the quarterback position, especially
- 31:00as a freshman, you got to have a little bit of that in you.
- 31:04And that's the perfect level and of showing your teammates let's do this.
- 31:11And I loved it. I thought that was great. And I think he
- 31:15says right now he's talking to the media, he's speaking the right way.
- 31:21Of not being overconfident. Now we'll see what the actions now things play out
- 31:25when adversity hits. That's going to be the true tester of a person's character
- 31:29and a leader and how they are. But I was very encouraged by seeing
- 31:33that too, of Rayola coming out of the locker room leading a team as
- 31:37a true freshman. That made me smile. That's another kool Aid sipping moment.
- 31:45Beak. You know what, you know what I talked to you after
- 31:48the game. You weren't. You weren't going nuts about the team drinking the
- 31:52kool aid after the game. I figured you'd be all hyped up. You're
- 31:56pretty normal after it. Yeah, yeah, I mean I'm excited. I
- 32:04definitely am excited. Like Dak, here's the thing, you talk to me
- 32:07after the game. If I wasn't saying negative things, then it should it
- 32:10should it should be a it should be a positive Yeah, one game thoughts.
- 32:22There was one more thing. And before I forget about this, someone
- 32:24told me where Jeff Sions went this weekend. I cannot remember where. Yes,
- 32:30Sun Devils, yep, Well they don't know what they got themselves into.
- 32:37That's gonna be the biggest He's gonna be the biggest follower of them.
- 32:40I know he will. Oh my god, how did he get another D
- 32:45one school? Nobody knows. Yeah, okay, we better move on.
- 32:53A few minutes left Nebraska basketball. The transfer portal is still open. Football
- 33:00is closed, basketball portal still open. A lot of moves and we've talked
- 33:06about a few of them. Let's just go through and recap him here quick.
- 33:09So this started back in early April. Season gets over. We know
- 33:17that JaMarcus Lawrence and matar Joe leave. We did get Roley Worcester, the
- 33:24point guard from Utah. We did get Andrew Morgan, a small forward slash
- 33:30power forward from North Dakota State. We did get Goggles two point zero,
- 33:37Gavin Griffiths from Rutgers, the six seven freshman gonna be sophomore. Eli Rice
- 33:44leaves to go and he ends up at Penn State, which was interesting.
- 33:49Connor Asigan from Wisconsin I thought was a huge geit recently a guard I think
- 33:57could be a very key player for US coming off an injury, but averaged.
- 34:01I think you might have even been Big ten Freshman first Team first year
- 34:08CJ. Wilcher gone to the Aggies. Will not comment anymore? Is he
- 34:15dead to you guys? Not dead to me? Hell? And then Braxton
- 34:24Mia, I'm not sure. I saw a list of the seven to one
- 34:29transfer from Washington. Oh, and then two more we do know rank mast
- 34:37just said he's out for next year. And then Lincoln High played at Lincoln
- 34:45Southeast and Lincoln justin bullets. I think could help, but probably couldn't be
- 34:51more of a walk on that he just committed a few days ago. So
- 34:53that's our poral in and out. I will say there's an article, of
- 34:59course, has her fans found it that has Nebraska as the seventh best transfer
- 35:04portal off season so far in that those guys that we mentioned were all at
- 35:08one point four stars. So there we go. Off season Nebraska basketball kool
- 35:15Aid drinkers were seventh in the portal rankings. No, he's he had knee
- 35:22surgery, so he's out for the year. Oh shit, I did not
- 35:27hear that. Yeah, so he won't be playing next year, but he
- 35:31still seems like he's going to be on the team and can play one more
- 35:35year when he comes back. That's gonna hurt big time, Yeah, because
- 35:45who's your bigs now? So that's where these transfers come in. I think
- 35:51this guy from Washington, I hope he's got I hope he's got some ability
- 35:58like Mass. He's seven to one. He's he's gonna be I think maybe
- 36:01a little raw. I haven't watched too much of it. Do you want
- 36:06to notice? Stats are he's played four years of college basketball. Last year
- 36:12his senior year for Washington, started sixteen games, played seventeen mints per game,
- 36:16scored five points, had five rebounds, less than a block, less
- 36:22than half an assist. He's I mean he's not. Yeah, he's He's
- 36:27a scrawny dude, doesn't shoot threes. So yeah, we'll see. I
- 36:34do think there's still potential of grabbing one more four or five. Yeah,
- 36:38we got our point guard that we wanted or that we thought we needed,
- 36:45and Roley Worcester. We got a Seagan who I think could be a very
- 36:52key piece for us next year at that two three spot. So I think
- 36:54we're building there. I think we still are maybe one four or five man
- 36:59away, especially with the Mass news. Yeah, I probably agree, we'll
- 37:07see. No case, you know, I don't know about that. Well,
- 37:15you think he's come back, he's still he's still never answered me.
- 37:23It's homeboy that bet on basketball games. He comes back. Yeah, I
- 37:34don't know, I actually do. Yeah, I don't know. He's actually
- 37:39good if he if he gets cleared, he's he's really freaking good. Yeah,
- 37:45I don't know this the update, do know? Case we're playing in
- 37:49the Olympics, probably about the time we'll be starting back up for season six,
- 37:54so we'll be exciting. And I don't know about you, guys,
- 37:59I'm basketball this year, right. We got a really good breaking sweet and
- 38:06and the best part about it is all of these international teams, like the
- 38:10big time players right now in the NBA, you go get your Donchianis are
- 38:15foreigners. That's what's great about it all. You're gonna know someone on every
- 38:20team that they play. Basically there's no one there's knowing him be scoring in
- 38:24the paint on France. Look that. Yep, not a chance. Yeah
- 38:30yeah, Victor and Rudy like, not a chance. It'll it'll be fun.
- 38:35It'll be a fun, fun Olympics. Before we get off here,
- 38:38you got a shout out Husker baseball team. I guess shout out we keep
- 38:43winning two of three in our Big Ten series, which I guess is better
- 38:45than winning one or zero. We can't get a sweep. We are sitting
- 38:51second in the Big ten. I think we're looking like probably a two seed,
- 38:57maybe a three if we get hot, maybe a one seed in the
- 39:00regionals coming up here in a few weeks. There was a couple of weeks
- 39:02left regular season, so get hot skurts. Be fun to watch it and
- 39:08postseason play. Yeah, no hit her last week, No hit her last
- 39:16week against K State mm hm in caps. Oh, all right, season
- 39:22five to a close. We're back season six in the fall, Dak great
- 39:28first year, Yeah, more performance like it kind of sputtered there at the
- 39:32end. Yeah, I should have watched tape. I actually going to my
- 39:37I can't get my wife. I said, up. It took forever,
- 39:43all right, go be gred bbr re member sooner b
