- 0:13[SPEAKER_03]: What can't we just win a game?
- 0:14[SPEAKER_03]: Can I blame Michael Caspio for this?
- 0:16[SPEAKER_03]: Can I blame Bob Connelly for this?
- 0:17[SPEAKER_03]: Can I put on a zebra shirt and just go out there?
- 0:19[SPEAKER_03]: Scratch, claw, up against the wall.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: Can I explain that one feeling right now, guys?
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: I can't believe it.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: Let's open up that raised ball.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: or can't believe U.S.C.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_02]: is undefeated in the ATC wait we're in the big tent what the record oh no hello everybody welcome back to redotra radio this is the car cast after the U.S.C's 31 23 win on the road in whiteout conditions in state college
- 1:01[SPEAKER_02]: U.S.E.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_02]: fans, especially did not believe the Trojans were going to go in, I picked the Trojans to lose.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_02]: I did pick Penn State the score 23.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_02]: That game happened.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_02]: So we're going to talk about that right here.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_02]: As always, you can follow us on social media, right in if you're an email, us, right in if you're a fan set, I come in our phone number, 8186437227 be sure to pop in with your raves, the rave line, wide open, wide open.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_02]: So join us there.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_02]: I'm your host, Mark Casino, join along with.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_02]: Hopefully no spiders this time.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_02]: If you watched our Wednesday game preview, I had to kill a spider in the middle of the episode that was literally crawling across my computer to my background.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_02]: but not today, SC, big win, shout out to everybody in the chats, going solo, first car cask going solo, since Alicia is on her health break.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_02]: We wish her well, she might be really close, just off screen, but I cannot confirm or deny that part, but we can, of course, not take too long to get into USC winning 31, 23,
- 2:19[SPEAKER_02]: opening thoughts.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to be overly reactionary.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_02]: I really don't.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_02]: That second half that might be the best half of football that Lincoln Riley has coached at USC.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_02]: I like, like, dead ass.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_02]: I, I, I, I
- 2:42[SPEAKER_02]: It didn't start well, the onside kick coming out of the half was, and not getting it is crazy.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_02]: It's one of those things where you get it and you love it.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_02]: It's a great call.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_02]: You don't get it and you hate it.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_02]: It's a bad call.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_02]: But what a second half for the Trojans in this game.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_02]: Second half adjustments struggled to run the ball in the first half.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_02]: What do they do in the second half?
- 3:01[SPEAKER_02]: They come out and they rely on a ton of RPOs.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_02]: Penn State couldn't defend the RPOs.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_02]: Um, Jane might have had easy throws a bunch of white pop plays right over the middle to mostly and tuck a rash craft, mostly back looks incredible.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_02]: The defense, I know the defense gave up big plays in the first half.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_02]: The two long passes from back to so well.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm pulling up the the split stats in the second half.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_02]: Penn State average 4.5 yards per play.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_02]: They did not get in the end zone.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_02]: They had to settle for two field goals.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like sign me up.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_02]: You're going you're going to win games with a Lincoln Riley offense if you force teams to settle for field goals.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_02]: SC did that.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_02]: We've been saying all week that SC just needed to win this game under any sort of condition, and it would be a game in which you, like the washing game a week ago, which had a bunch of struggles.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_02]: If you had just repeated that bar for bar this week, you'd take it because it was on the road and SC struggles on the road.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_02]: But no, like seriously, that was the best
- 4:19[SPEAKER_02]: As had like Lincoln Riley did everything right and get this badger trying spider last time and dog this time who's pulling, we're good, we're all good.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_02]: Next week we'll, two weeks from now we'll see what badger does when I see place the badgers on the road, of course, but.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_02]: The defense got their stops in the second half.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_02]: They got big third down stops.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_02]: And Lincoln Riley won every single coaching decision in that second half.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_02]: The fake punt spoof brilliant.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_02]: The slow trotting off the sideline.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, with the slow subs, something
- 5:10[SPEAKER_02]: Esse had been burned with year after year after year after year and never took advantage of it the other way finally taking advantage of it the other way Plain the dark arts I thought the fourth down goes were with the right call.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_02]: I thought that the field goal in the second quarter was the right call.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_02]: Like the time management in this game.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_02]: Essie gets a big stop, luke-wafel forces a big sack on third down and Essie gets the ball.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_02]: I'm pulling up the drive chart right now.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_02]: Essie gets the ball at their own eight yard line with six minutes and two seconds to go.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_02]: And my first thought is every time S.C. has been in a situation like this of late in the Lincoln Riley era.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, this was a thing under Clay Hilton too, the lack of time management in the critical situations where they're snapping the ball with 15 seconds to go.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_02]: or they're down and they're not hurrying up to the line of scrimmage or, you know, two weeks ago against Oregon, they're throwing short of the sticks, which is, which is fine if you want to go underneath, but you need to get out of bounds and SD doesn't.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_02]: Every single snap on that drive, my avatook like with one or two seconds on the clock.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_02]: Every single one, 40 seconds off the clock, every single time.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_02]: That's what you do.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_02]: The bar is low, but when you do that in a game where you put yourself, you maximize every possible chance that you can ensure a victory.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, this is what fans have been asking for.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_02]: This performance exactly what fans have been asking for.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_02]: This team, the way they played the night, that team beats Oregon.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_02]: The team wins the one tonight, that team goes into Madison two weeks and wins that game.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_02]: The team that played tonight, especially in the second half, is at least competitive against Indiana on the road and gives yourself a puncher's chance against the really damn good Ohio
- 7:29[SPEAKER_02]: Where is that team men?
- 7:30[SPEAKER_02]: They were so damn good.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_02]: Jade and my ava struggle in the first half with some passes to the outside.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_02]: Miss some balls.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_02]: missed a sure fire touchdown to uh... to carry sweliums uh... that's where i sweliums uh... who also took his eyes off the ball as well and that's one of those moments where you like better pass and maybe even to carry sweliums doesn't have to take his eyes off whatever it is
- 8:00[SPEAKER_02]: multiple drives in the in the first half ended on a pass that was errands for whatever reason whether it's on the receivers or my other second half none of that and we've talked so much jade my other on the road struggles you look at his numbers his road splits his quarterback rating on the road significantly lower that his quarterback rating at home and tonight
- 8:29[SPEAKER_02]: Especially in the second half, that's my office best performance is a trodden.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_02]: This was, we talked about, like, all you need him to be is a game manager in this offense and just distribute the ball to your talented players.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_02]: Because as he has so many of them, especially at Wydersever with Trent Mosley, who was
- 9:00[SPEAKER_02]: All you need to do is distribute the ball.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_02]: In that second half, he was picture perfect.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_02]: Every single decision on the RPO's perfect.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_02]: Every pass perfect.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_02]: The touchdown pass to Cain Dixon Wyatt, waiting out the slant, getting protection, even though you're without Elijah Page, you're NFL draft prospect, left tackle, Vlad, the Ackonov jumps in there, freshman thrown into the fire,
- 9:33[SPEAKER_02]: By other patients, weights is time, weights out the slants, throws the perfect strike, the canedinks and why it, on the road in front of the Penn State student section.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_02]: Like there's a reason before the season people circle this game as like that's probably a loss.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_02]: That or like the question would be that it would maybe I see wins if Penn State is like year one bad and is Penn State a great football team right now?
- 10:04[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_02]: they're not a great football team right now.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_02]: And is this the the same is going on the road and beating Indiana?
- 10:13[SPEAKER_02]: No, obviously not.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_02]: Is it would have been the same as beating Oregon?
- 10:17[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously not.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_02]: But we have seen many a road game in hostile situations where S.C. has played games.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_02]: Many of
- 10:36[SPEAKER_02]: uh, Minnesota, Oregon last year, competitive, but you still win by two scores because there's there's an untimely turnover and there's an untimely penalty and there's the mismanagement of some sort of coaching decision of clock management or whatever it is.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_02]: There's a decision that just leads you the wrong way that reduces your chance of winning the football game.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_02]: did not happen tonight, Lincoln Riley, aces.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_02]: which is like a week ago, I thought that would might have been his worst coach game of the Lincoln Valley era.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_02]: And this one is best.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_02]: And you need that.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_02]: You need to turn around things.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, we've, the USC fans online, there's a wide spectrum, right?
- 11:31[SPEAKER_02]: There's sunshine pumpers, to Glumendomers.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_02]: and the reality is always in the middle, right?
- 11:38[SPEAKER_02]: But you end up getting into a situation where when things are good, people say, say, the glumen dooms are like, yeah, but you're not mentioning the bad things and when things are bad, the sunshine pressure like, yeah, you're not mentioned the good things.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_02]: The reality is we do this podcast and,
- 11:57[SPEAKER_02]: SC to succeed more than anything.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_02]: A good U.S.C.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_02]: team is fun to podcast about.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_02]: It's fun to get in here and look at the chat and look at everybody that's in the chat.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_02]: Listen to the raves on the rant line.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_02]: talk about all the good things, and so we don't come on this pod looking for negative things to talk about if we don't have to.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_02]: And last week we had to.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_02]: And this week, there's none of that because there's no reason to, because SC did not give them the reason to.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_02]: And so like,
- 12:37[SPEAKER_02]: Is this this team give me more confidence that SE is going to go into Indiana and win?
- 12:43[SPEAKER_02]: No, because that's in still freaking snake pit for SE to go on the road and blooming to the defending national champion.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_02]: But Madison, two weeks from now, you play like you did tonight.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_02]: You win that game by probably a similar score.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_02]: And if you play like you did strictly in the second half, you win that game by double digits.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_02]: Like, this is the performance that people have won it for so long.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_02]: And you look at the offensive side of the ball here.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_02]: S.C. in this game had nine drives.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_02]: There's not a game of a lot of drives in the third quarter.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_02]: They had one drive in that game in the third quarter.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_02]: 10 plays, 75 yards, five minutes, 45 seconds off the clock.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_02]: Eight, for 75 yards, right out of the gate, beautiful drive opening drive for a score.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_02]: They go three and out in the second drive.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_02]: Then touch down, feel goal miss, which I liked the kick there.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_02]: I liked putting Ryan C. area in there and just, hey, kid, go bang it and see what you can do.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_02]: And my gotty had the leg, but just pushed it a little bit wide.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_02]: It's a 56 yard feel goal.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_02]: Being that close, yeah, you tip your hat to say
- 14:04[SPEAKER_02]: field goal in the second half, touch down, touch down, then the drive right before the end, in which they need to take time off of the clock.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_02]: They go three and out still, but a minute 54 off the clock in a pivotal possession.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_02]: The last possession of the game,
- 14:35[SPEAKER_02]: I, this, this was picture perfect with the charges on, on offense, defense.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_02]: They gave up the, the, the, the two big plays the solo that set up touchdown drives in the first half.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_02]: Both of those balls I thought were perfectly thrown by Rocco Becked.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know that he threw another perfect pass to the rest of the game.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_02]: I thought he was rather air into times.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_02]: Or he was throwing to somebody who S.C. was still able to wrangle down at some point.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_02]: And the results is Penn State having to settle for field goals.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_02]: You let them score three, you score seven, you win football game.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_02]: That's how it goes.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_02]: So what a win for USC, 31, 23.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't expect this morning that we'd be going on a solo podcast where I'd sit here and wax poetic about the performance and the coaching performance for 15 minutes.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_02]: But here we are, here we are.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_02]: If you do it,
- 15:51[SPEAKER_02]: you get the you get the price.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_02]: Let's go to the super chats.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_02]: We got a bunch of them.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_02]: First one comes from Warlock.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_02]: Where New York USC at go USC.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you, Warlock.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_02]: Dan in the chats.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_02]: contribution to the expiter defense fund.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_02]: I will never live that down.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_02]: Having to kill a spider on Thursday, please.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_02]: Don't go find the clip if you want to see me terrified, but do if you want to see me terrified.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_02]: Super chat from, fighting on MC, we are six in one, fight on, six in one,
- 16:41[SPEAKER_02]: I know, USC's a program that should be bowels by every single year.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_02]: I grew up in the, in the, in the Hackett era, the Robinson and the Hackett era in the 90s.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_02]: I remember in 1998.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_02]: celebrating being boldeligible with Carson Palmer, a wily freshman out of Santa Margarita wearing a number of 15 jersey.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_02]: I remember celebrating that and how happy nine year old me was the S.C. was boldeligible.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_02]: And so in my head, S.C. is always a hack at team, a Robinson team, where like, yeah, you celebrate being boldeligible every time because you don't know when you're not going to be.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, low bar grand scheme of things, but beamboeligible.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_02]: Beamboeligible on October 10th, crazy, crazy.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, week zero will help that out.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_02]: uh... super chat to king vijita uh... are arrested at you see a fan in the chat hey you see a legot revenge for you guys yet the bruise look at the bruise look good in the ducts look bad and you see a light took took care of business up in up in you gene they look good as he looks good
- 18:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and it was a good day to watch the channel two sports report with Jim Hill or whatever, like big win for for for the Bruins on the road, but of course we're going to talk about SC.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_02]: Irvine cattle ran says I need a touchdown
- 18:28[SPEAKER_02]: Touchdown Trojans.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_02]: There we go.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_02]: I thought I took it off the board.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_02]: It's there.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_02]: Touchdown Trojans.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_02]: There you go.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks for inviting cattle ranch as always.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_02]: See, at least he would be on the podcast.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_02]: We can do that.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_02]: We can also do, he makes me drill.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, that would probably be about Trent Mosley, who was incredible tonight.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_03]: Hi.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_02]: That's the GDA adversary who still played.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_02]: Even though he was, you know, a lot of concern about the injury status of GDA adversary, he's still playing.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_02]: Another super chat, from Nick C, what do you predict our season record will be?
- 19:15[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's a team.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_02]: If you play like it's so hard because are they going to play like they did tonight?
- 19:25[SPEAKER_02]: Or are they going to play like they did last week?
- 19:27[SPEAKER_02]: They play like they did tonight.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_02]: That team goes 93.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_02]: I think you get one of Ohio State Indiana UCLA, which is crazy that UCLA is in that list now, but we sort of have to put
- 19:44[SPEAKER_02]: You get one of them and you beat Wisconsin on the road and you take care of business against Maryland.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_02]: I think that is I think that is a safe conservative like I don't do that's crazy to say that that you can go nine and three.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_02]: They play like they went tonight.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think 10 and two is crazy.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_02]: That still means you have to be to Ohio State or Indiana.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_02]: Which is tough, but yeah, I reasons to be optimistic right now, absolutely.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_02]: I actually think this is a case of optimistic Alicia or optimistic me optimistic me.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_02]: Let's get through another one.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_02]: So as Alicia on the IR or the pop list, physically unable to perform, I'm not sure how the classifications work.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think this is from Skill.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you, Skill, for the Super Chat.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_02]: I think technically LTIR in the NHL.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_02]: LTIR means,
- 20:59[SPEAKER_02]: your long-term IR, but your LTIR, you're exempt from the salary cap so that way the team can continue, right?
- 21:13[SPEAKER_02]: So she's on LTIR, she's exempt from the podcast but we continue.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_02]: So, but we miss her.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_02]: We miss her.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_02]: And she's in the chat.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you, Alicia, for everything putting in the chat and all the help today on the pod and everything getting ready for this.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_02]: That's where we are.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_02]: That's where we are with the superchats, um, uh, at least in the chest side are you pup.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_02]: I technically I don't know what pup, like physically unable to perform, is that the same is just LTIR in the, in the NHL?
- 21:49[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know enough about the NFL CBA.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_02]: to exactly say P.R.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_02]: J.K. in the chat's best non-home win of the Riley era definitely next to LSU.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, and I would argue better than the LSU game because is that LSU team better than this Penn State team probably, yeah, but this was a game in which
- 22:20[SPEAKER_02]: not a lot of confidence in the Trojans around the program, around the fanbase nationally.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_02]: You know, listening to the solid verbal this week, tie, I love tie.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_02]: He might be my favorite podcaster in the world.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_02]: locked up Penn State because you just can't pick SC on the road in this kind of situation, right?
- 22:45[SPEAKER_02]: Because that's the kind of lack of confidence that they instill on the road.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_02]: And so I think that getting over that hump is a big deal.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_02]: I think it is absolutely a big deal.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_02]: We are super chat.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_02]: from Larry congrats from a PSU fan just not a good year for us U.S.E.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_02]: earned it breaks my heart but I have faith we will rebuild enjoy the win.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks Larry.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_02]: You've been along for the ride this week.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_02]: We've seen you in the chat in your comments.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_02]: We appreciate it.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I, Penn State's got a good coach.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_02]: They've got a good coach in Matt Campbell.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_02]: They will continue to build.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_02]: They will be good.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_02]: This might be, might have been absolutely the time to get them in a white-out, for sure.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to take a little bit of time until they're back in the playoff or whatever, but they're in a good place.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, I think the other thing is,
- 23:51[SPEAKER_02]: makes it better, too.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_02]: This wasn't just a, like, Rockowback wasn't incredible tonight, but he wasn't terrible.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_02]: Penn State didn't fumbled the ball left and right.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_02]: They fumbled it once to sort of end the game, but they didn't fumbled the ball left and right.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_02]: They didn't make awful decision after awful decision where they puked all over themselves and S.C. took advantage of that.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_02]: No, S.C. was the aggressor in the game, especially in the second half.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_02]: which is, which is big.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_02]: Rush in the chat is I'm honestly shocked the Penn State defense had more fall starts than the SC offense.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_02]: Second play of the game as he gets a fall start on offense.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_02]: We set the line in the over under in our game preview on Wednesday night at four and a half offensive penalties for SC four and a half pulling it up right now.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_02]: There were two.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_02]: No, there was one.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_02]: There was one.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_02]: There was one.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_02]: It was the fall start in the second play of the game.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_02]: Actually, the stats say it was the first play of the game.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_02]: Fall start first play of the game on Tobias Raymond.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_02]: The next offensive penalty is the illegal formation on the punt in the fourth quarter.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_02]: That's on the special teams, that's not on the offense.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_02]: Um, a little bit of a professional file, you had been given a big place to so well and back to the passing game.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_02]: If you have to grab and prevent a big play, you have to do it.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_02]: Not, that's not the passing interference play that you're going to be mad about it three in the morning tonight, right?
- 25:52[SPEAKER_02]: So, yeah, I think this was
- 26:00[SPEAKER_02]: Like literally every number you look at I think that there's things to love in this game I have a 21 if 33 31 one yards three touchdown 64% passer rating of a box 70 point three King Miller
- 26:16[SPEAKER_02]: Extremely, extremely unheralded performance.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_02]: 19 carries 102 yards, long of 16, and he fought and fought for a yard or two every single time.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_02]: There were a couple times that he got three or four, five or six.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, run through trash.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_02]: Do the Daily McCollum thing, and run through trash and keep going.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_02]: he looked great.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_02]: And now we have to talk about the receivers.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_02]: Tonight the best tenocines has ever looked.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a fan of tenocines.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_02]: I like tenocines.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_02]: I love him last year.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_02]: I thought the first four or five games of the season, he left a bit to be desired.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_02]: He yes, he was coming off the injury, where he missed a lot of time in the off season.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_02]: And I give him grace for that, right?
- 27:14[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I don't expect you to hit the ground running in all those things.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_02]: And he had a big game last week with the touchdown catch that he fought off a dude to catch the ball.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_02]: And then the first half the night he was flawless.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_02]: Eight catches, 82 yards, a touchdown catch again in which he's fighting with a defender to go up and win a one on one battle.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_02]: Great.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think that's a problem at all.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_02]: He gets three targets, one of them, the touchdown the fourth quarter, that essentially wins the game.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_02]: He was good.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_02]: He was really good when you needed him too.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_02]: The other catch that he had was on fourth and five.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_02]: Two catches, and they were extremely timely moments.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_02]: And then you get to number four, Trent Mosley.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to get up ahead of myself.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to say something that we can clip.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_02]: And I sound really stupid months later, years later, whatever it is.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_02]: I watched Mike Williams.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_02]: I watched Drake London.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_02]: I watched RJ Sower in 1996.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_02]: And it's different than Mike Williams in 2002, because Mike Williams, I love Mike Williams.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_02]: And my all-time, him and Ardace Howard, my all-time, two-favorite U.S.A.Wider-Sivers, I love Mike Williams the death.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_02]: He played a different kind of game than Trent Mosley.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_02]: He relied on his physical presence.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_02]: And that's not to take anything away from Mike Williams' game at all.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_02]: but your physical presence, when you are the size that Mike Williams is, 65 with like big thick legs like that comes naturally and you can use that to your advantage and it's great and you can just look wonderful in your freshman season 2002.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_02]: Trent Mosley is doing Mike Williams things physically with Steve Smith's body.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know how he does that drop in a shoulder and take an adude head on tonight at one point a little terrifying, but he does it's he gets an extra yard every single time because he wants to take on a guy and like we haven't even got into the touchdown catch on the first drive.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_02]: dropped into a perfect little hole from my ava.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_02]: He leaps up, gets it, the only play where I thought that mostly, and no, this wasn't a bad thing at all.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_02]: The one where he got absolutely rocked over the middle, like nobody would have caught that ball, the screen,
- 30:42[SPEAKER_02]: on a third down in the third quarter.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_02]: Was it the fourth quarter, whatever it was?
- 30:48[SPEAKER_02]: Beautiful.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_02]: It's all the blocks, I love the way that the line attacked.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_02]: They waited back, they didn't have an illegal man downfield situation, the ball's thrown, they attacked a block.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_02]: He sees the vision, he's running everywhere that he needs to run.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_02]: He gets extra yards every time, nine catches, 111 yards, coming off of a knee injury, and missing three games.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_02]: Who does that?
- 31:31[SPEAKER_02]: Who does that?
- 31:32[SPEAKER_02]: As a true freshman?
- 31:33[SPEAKER_02]: Who does that?
- 31:34[SPEAKER_02]: Like,
- 31:35[SPEAKER_02]: He looks right now as good as Mackay was a lemon was a year ago.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_02]: And Mackay lemon won the frickin' bulletin' a cough.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_02]: That sounds insane.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_02]: It sounds insane.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_02]: But that's similar to how he's playing.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_02]: And he's a true freshman.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_02]: There's nobody in the chat says, Mostly reminds me of a faster stronger Steve Smith.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_02]: Carolina Panthers, Steve Smith, yes.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_02]: USC Steve Smith, where's a similar helmet, the two bar, similar body type, very similar body type to Panther Steve Smith, too.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_02]: But Panther Steve Smith was a fighter, right?
- 32:18[SPEAKER_02]: Like he would, he would fight for extra yards and slithering do all those things, too.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, he plays a lot of it, Jessica says he makes me drool.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_03]: He makes me drool.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Pierre, Jake, you have to talk about the the 20s U.S.C.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_02]: wide receiver core.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_02]: It's insane.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, first of all, calling it the 20s, I understand you're you're not wrong.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_02]: The 2020s, but call it the 20s sounds crazy.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_02]: Like I think of the roar and 20s from the 1900s.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_02]: But it's insane if drink never, uh, uh, injured, it's up there.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I, I, I
- 32:57[SPEAKER_02]: Take your pick.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_02]: What's your best favorite receiving core?
- 33:02[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_02]: Is it 2007 is great?
- 33:07[SPEAKER_02]: Especially if you could include Fred Davis's a tight end.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_02]: 2012 is great.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_02]: 2013 is great.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_02]: 2019, Drake London, Amon Ra, Michael Pittman, Tyler
- 33:31[SPEAKER_02]: 2026 and onward, if that's so you can keep all these dudes.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_02]: It's crazy.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_02]: It's absolutely crazy.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_02]: Trobob in the chat says that Mike Williams is a running back on bubble.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_02]: He was.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I remember that a lot.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_02]: I love the the norm child bubble screens because it was basically like get it to him and let Mike Williams absolutely like,
- 33:59[SPEAKER_02]: stiff arm some dude, stiff arm some guy and pick up yards.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_02]: We got more stuff in the chat.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_02]: I want to get to from earlier Jessica says this is the best roadwin for Riley so far.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I think undoubtedly.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_02]: JK KZ are are we not going to talk about Vlad D playing like a monster.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, we should.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_02]: Glad.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I can off goes in there.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_02]: I am not on Twitter.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_02]: I did not realize until the game was started and this starting line up and all that kind of stuff about Elijah Page not being in the game.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_02]: And that's worrisome on the first drive, and he was nails.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_02]: He was absolutely, absolutely nails.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_02]: Pierre Jakey, this is why King Miller needed that way to play Big Ten Football, especially in the third and fourth quarter.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_02]: We just need way mode to start picking up his game.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I, I,
- 35:02[SPEAKER_02]: King Miller is, he's just very, very good at being, he's like a, he's a professional running back.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 35:14[SPEAKER_02]: Like, it is, is King Miller ever going to win a high spin trophy?
- 35:19[SPEAKER_02]: No, is King Miller going to go into the pantheon of like,
- 35:26[SPEAKER_02]: Great U.S.E.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_02]: tailbacks, given U.S.E.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_02]: tailback history, probably not.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't think anyone that might never happen ever again.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_02]: But he does everything you need him to do.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_02]: Everything you need him to do.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_02]: And this year especially,
- 35:47[SPEAKER_02]: Um, his, his games all look, he, he's like Trent mostly, and that every game looks the same.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_02]: He's getting 15 to 19 carries, and he's getting you 80 to 110 yards, and is he going to set records doing that?
- 36:06[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_02]: is he going to make sure that he's your steady atty in the backfield?
- 36:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_02]: And the the the hope is that you pair that with women Jordan who can be your home run hitter.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_02]: That hasn't happened so far.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah King King was absolutely great tonight.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_02]: We did get a super chat.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_02]: from Ari Lopez.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_02]: Jimmy Jones, the Sam Dickerson, 1969, versus UCLA, does anyone remember?
- 36:39[SPEAKER_02]: I'll, let's, let's, let's throw a chance.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_03]: Did I say that right?
- 36:45[SPEAKER_02]: No, I didn't.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_02]: I'll, sorry.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_02]: She, she is, she is shaking her head just yesterday at me.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_02]: underrated U.S.C.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_02]: quarterback, however, I don't think that's a crazy take.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think that's a crazy take.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_02]: Dave and Orange County, love you Dave, shocking to see how poorly way Mo is playing this year.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the interesting thing, he is getting third down, fourth down reps, like they're using him,
- 37:32[SPEAKER_02]: And so I do think a limit on his productivity because of that.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_02]: And so that's why he goes six for 22 and it's not as big as it could be of his runs tonight 3rd and 15.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_02]: He does get first intense.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_02]: He gets a second and two, a third and two and then another first and ten.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_02]: So half of his runs were on 3rd and fourth though, but he only got six runs.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_02]: Riley Wormley did not see the field.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, that I can remember in the game.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_02]: Um, well, you didn't need it.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_02]: You, you, you absolutely, uh, didn't need it.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_02]: We got another super chat.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, this is from Jeremy.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you, Jeremy.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, love the show.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks for all the great content every week.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_02]: Finally, a fun Saturday night to be a Trojan.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_02]: Fight on.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_02]: He says.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_02]: Fight on.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_02]: It is.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_02]: One of the, this is one of those games where you win a game like this, and then you're going to watch a college football finals tonight or whatever it's called now.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to listen to all the national podcasts that you can.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to go watch the highlights.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_02]: You can do all those things.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_02]: You don't have to pretend that football doesn't exist.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_02]: on Sunday.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_02]: Right?
- 39:04[SPEAKER_02]: And for me personally, things are great, man.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_02]: Chelsea this morning, Holy smokes, signing of the year Jordan Henderson.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_02]: He's like 96 years old and he was old and decrepit and wash, but suddenly he's looking like Trent mostly out there.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_02]: Two times state
- 39:30[SPEAKER_02]: The white socks got eliminated.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_02]: Thank God, I guess, think the Pope.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry, Pope.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_02]: Everything, everything is coming up roses today.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_02]: Randy, was this the greatest win ever?
- 39:50[SPEAKER_02]: No, all caps, but it shows proof of concept that we're moving in the right direct.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_02]: That's the thing, yes, that's exactly the thing.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_02]: I, this is going to be weird to, to put into words.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_02]: So give me some grace here.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_02]: But I could argue that the way that this game went was the best possible outcome.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_02]: Like obviously, yeah, you want to win every game 72 to nothing or whatever, right?
- 40:22[SPEAKER_02]: But I think this team,
- 40:31[SPEAKER_02]: Lincoln Riley needed a game like this where there were elements of a rock fight.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_02]: There was great offense all the all the great things that you know about this offense.
- 40:49[SPEAKER_02]: This was a Penn State team that that thought they weren't hapless.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_02]: They absolutely were there.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_02]: This was an a team that rolled over and did nothing.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_02]: And it was a hostile environment where you went in there and you took care of business in the second half Dodging your teeth and crossing your eyes.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_02]: You did everything you did everything you needed to do to do the little things and like
- 41:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think you needed to see that more so than you needed to see a win where there were six touchdowns of 60 plus yards because you out-talented them full stop.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's gotten realized Michael was a white socks header, but I guess it makes sense.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_02]: Go look up the video of those white-shock fans beating up the the Royals first base coach That's all you need to know about the white-shocks for me that and I Shouldn't go anymore, but
- 42:01[SPEAKER_02]: Um, it's a sports take surprise.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_02]: We haven't given Riley Wormley more carries.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_02]: He's been pretty good every time he's gotten the ball.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_02]: Um, yeah, there's just something that Alicia talked about.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_02]: Um, in the preview, Oregon preview that she did with Hithla Day on the addicted to.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_02]: Quack podcast.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_02]: Um, That's Riley Wormley has been very good.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_02]: But it's also been one of those things where, like, for a hockey, a hockey analogy, he's gotten a lot of offensive zone starts, offensive zone phase-offs.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_02]: He's been in positions to be maximized and have the best looks, he's come in with splitbacks, he's come in, like, he's been in situations that allow him to succeed.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_02]: And that's great.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not taking anything away from Riley Wormley at all.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_02]: But he hasn't had to fight the way King Miller has.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_02]: And so I think the effortless nature of how good Riley Wormley has looked.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think it's like a one and one comparison with
- 43:13[SPEAKER_02]: with women Jordan, but right, like, I don't know that that Riley wormly would be better on third.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_02]: He might be.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_02]: He might be better on third and two.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_02]: He might be, but like, he's not getting those carries, so it's hard to say.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_02]: It's really hard to say.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_02]: Um, Le Mans says I would have like to see Allston, Sean Allston.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I agree, but also like,
- 43:35[SPEAKER_02]: if it ain't broke don't fix it like especially in the second half there was also like not that many play how many plays sixty three both things at sixty three place sixty three plays and S.C. had nine drives four drives in the second half and one of those drives ended the game yeah they just weren't a lot of opportunities another super chat
- 44:01[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, what did you take on ranking this week or ranking this week?
- 44:05[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe we can move up a few places, fight on Trojans, um, as we always talk about the polls are multi-dimensional, right?
- 44:17[SPEAKER_02]: It's a comparative ranking.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_02]: It is not a rating of you.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_02]: It is a rating of where you rank versus everybody else.
- 44:28[SPEAKER_02]: So,
- 44:33[SPEAKER_02]: As the screen washes out my face because it's so right here on the screen.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_02]: Here we go.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_02]: Who lost?
- 44:44[SPEAKER_02]: Just to summarize the teams that lost this week.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_02]: Texas, they're still going to be ranked ahead.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_02]: Alabama will be ranked ahead.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_02]: LSU.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_02]: We'll ask you be ahead of number 10.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_02]: I'll issue you.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_02]: That's close.
- 45:09[SPEAKER_02]: That's a flip to coin, whatever your personal preferences.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_02]: We'll ask you be ahead of Oregon.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_02]: Oregon has the head and the head.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_02]: I think there will be a lot of voters that will put Oregon ahead on head to head.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_02]: But they have two losses.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_02]: SC has one.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_02]: SC's win tonight, probably no, no.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_02]: Organs win over SC is more impressive than SC's win over Penn State.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, the two losses thing, I think could put SC ahead.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_02]: Florida gets freaking jiggle bagged.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_02]: by South Carolina at home.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_02]: They're definitely out of the top 25.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_02]: So how many teams is that the S.C. is jumping up?
- 46:02[SPEAKER_02]: We're talking maybe three, maybe three.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_02]: And S.C. is ranked right now, what 19?
- 46:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I say I see no higher than 15 or no higher than 15 or 16 or 15 like the the thing is like as big of a win is this was for the Trojans and for Lincoln Riley and for it is a proof of concept game.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_02]: I don't need to go up that high.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're just, it'll be like it'll be maybe three spots.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_02]: Trojan fights says Oregon should drop based on all the turnovers they had, what were they're said, were there seven turnovers?
- 46:56[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't, I didn't watch the game to be fair.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_02]: Sunbun says no change in rank.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I, I don't know, we'll see, either way, I would say,
- 47:11[SPEAKER_02]: 15 or 16.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_02]: I think 16 is probably safe.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_02]: Also, that's not even taken to account teams that could jump them and mind you.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_02]: I stopped looking at the teams that were ranked below.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know that anyone would jump them, but it's it's it's possible.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_02]: For our Mirties, there are a chance the game against UCLA could be for a playoff birth.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_03]: Playoffs.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_03]: Don't talk about playoffs.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_03]: You kidding me?
- 47:41[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I'm not going to say yes, but if both teams play if they did today, then that very well could be the case, right?
- 47:59[SPEAKER_02]: Um, yeah, if SC plays like they did today, even if they go nine and three,
- 48:07[SPEAKER_02]: They will have beaten Wisconsin and you see a lay at that point, a very good you see a team.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_02]: There's a word, nine and three, it depends on what the rest of the world looks like.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_02]: But your chances of getting into playoff at nine and three is like the best chance a nine and three team will ever have, right?
- 48:28[SPEAKER_02]: But there's a world in which that could be the case.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_02]: It'll depend on what the rest of the rankings look like, what the rest of the teams look like, what the rest of the field looks like.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, if you see a play as like they did today and continues to win games, their schedule is atrocious.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_02]: And it sounds crazy.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, they look play offbound right now, right?
- 48:54[SPEAKER_02]: Like, look at their schedule.
- 48:57[SPEAKER_02]: Who who I'm going to pull it up right now?
- 49:01[SPEAKER_02]: Who who who is beating them?
- 49:05[SPEAKER_02]: Let's let's pull up their schedule.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_02]: This isn't rain of rest Westwood, but Wisconsin, Michigan State, Nevada, all at home.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_02]: They went all three of those games.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_02]: At Minnesota, that's tough.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_02]: That's tough.
- 49:26[SPEAKER_02]: home against Illinois at Michigan, who knows what to expect for Michigan there?
- 49:33[SPEAKER_02]: And then the SIGAM, like going into that SIGAM, they have no more than two losses.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I think it's I think it's up for a playoff birth for them, which nuts nuts to say, right?
- 49:46[SPEAKER_02]: But
- 49:47[SPEAKER_02]: Kudos for making a good hire and making it work.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_02]: That's what that's the dream that everybody wants.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_02]: Randy from Redland says no rat poison need one game at a time.
- 49:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_02]: I don't, here's the thing.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_02]: If they play like the, if I see plays like they did tonight, they go in a Madison and they win that game.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_02]: I also think that even though tonight was a proof of concept game,
- 50:16[SPEAKER_02]: we can't assume that this is the new normal either.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_02]: So it was a proof of concept game.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_02]: They can do it.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_02]: It has been done before as Lou Brown would say, no, it's not Lou Brown, Jake Taylor said that.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_02]: It's called a winning streak that has been done before.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_02]: No, what's Lou Brown and what's Lou Brown?
- 50:45[SPEAKER_02]: someone's going to correct me.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_02]: Anyways, that's a major league reference that nobody's probably getting maybe.
- 50:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you still need to go, you know, prove it against Wisconsin and then turn around the following week on Halloween and prove it against Ohio State.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_02]: And like, I don't think you need to be to Ohio State.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_02]: Ohio State's really damn good.
- 51:10[SPEAKER_02]: They might be the best team in the country.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_02]: you need to look extremely competitive against them.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_02]: You need to look extremely competitive against them.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_02]: Like, make them scared, right?
- 51:27[SPEAKER_02]: Like, play, make them, make them beat you.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_02]: Some months as a night's hoping for USC, but the national opinion of USC isn't going to change a ton.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_02]: Probably not.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_02]: It's not going to change a ton.
- 51:40[SPEAKER_02]: I agree.
- 51:44[SPEAKER_02]: But fuel was not added to the fire.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_02]: And that in of itself is a win.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_02]: There's a win for the narrative, I think.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_02]: All right, what else we got?
- 52:00[SPEAKER_02]: Anything pinned that I haven't gotten to?
- 52:04[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think so.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we've gone 53 minutes.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_02]: I think I'm running out of steam, guys, on a solo first car cast, but quite the week for solo first, first car cast, 31, 23, SC wins.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_02]: Before we wrap this up, I just do want to go over the stats a little bit, sorry, I want to talk about the defense just a little bit.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_02]: One player who I thought played very well was Desmond Stevens, one of his best games as a Trojan, coming off, like with him having probably the most pressure he's ever had in his life, at least football related.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_02]: And he looked good, there was a moment where RaccoPect was scrambling and going to slide.
- 53:16[SPEAKER_02]: And Desmond Stevens was running down the tracks.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_02]: And for a brief second, you get flashbacks.
- 53:24[SPEAKER_02]: And he pulled up.
- 53:36[SPEAKER_02]: But your hope is that people learn, that people improve, that people improve from their mistakes, learn from their mistakes, and all those things.
- 53:47[SPEAKER_02]: And tonight was a very good first step in rebuilding trust in him as being the heart of this defense as a middle linebacker.
- 54:08[SPEAKER_02]: Kudos.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's that's that's where you need to start look way full gets
- 54:18[SPEAKER_02]: We put the over under at one and a half tackles for loss.
- 54:21[SPEAKER_02]: He had one and a half exactly one and a half incredible.
- 54:28[SPEAKER_02]: He had the sack which was massive and then him and Cam Crawford shared a tackle for loss.
- 54:36[SPEAKER_02]: S the only gets four tackles for loss in this game.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_02]: They didn't make a lot of negative plays that way.
- 54:48[SPEAKER_02]: the defense.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_02]: They won this game by getting field goal stops and they won this game with the Christian Pierce force fumble.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_02]: The peanut, peanut punch, peanut, tellman punch.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_02]: Go look up, peanut punch, tellman, like Google, Google that as soon as this pot is done, you're already in YouTube, just go put that in the search bar and look at the the real of those
- 55:21[SPEAKER_02]: And, and punches it right there.
- 55:23[SPEAKER_02]: So, wins the game.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_02]: S.C. won the game with the defensive play a week ago from Elijah Nubi, and they get won from Christian Pierce.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_02]: Is this defense, right?
- 55:39[SPEAKER_02]: Surely not.
- 55:42[SPEAKER_02]: is this defense, if they play like they did tonight, going to win you a lot of games with an offense that plays like they did tonight in a hostile environment?
- 55:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 55:54[SPEAKER_02]: Both of those things can exist.
- 55:56[SPEAKER_02]: Both those things can exist.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_02]: And lastly about the offense, I said that this was during my office best road game.
- 56:06[SPEAKER_02]: It was.
- 56:10[SPEAKER_02]: And like there were so many of these games on the road where they were S.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.
- 56:38[SPEAKER_02]: But you have you have to start somewhere you have to take baby steps somewhere
- 56:43[SPEAKER_02]: and I thought he took baby steps somewhere.
- 56:45[SPEAKER_02]: He had nine tackles led the team for solo tackles.
- 56:49[SPEAKER_02]: He had a half tackle for loss.
- 56:52[SPEAKER_02]: Devin Bryant, by the way, got absolute broke his ankles from Carson Hanson.
- 56:58[SPEAKER_02]: Devin Bryant, USC's sureest tackler, got his ankles broken.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_02]: But other than that, I thought he had a good night.
- 57:05[SPEAKER_02]: He gets the tip ball that was nearly picked off.
- 57:09[SPEAKER_02]: Also, if he doesn't get his hands on it, it's a Penn State touchdown.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_02]: They waltz him to the end zone, and it's a completely different game.
- 57:16[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, things look good for Devon Bryant.
- 57:22[SPEAKER_02]: John says Williams looked good.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_02]: He had a big pass break up, took it right to the edge, but didn't get a call on past interference.
- 57:32[SPEAKER_02]: And that's
- 57:32[SPEAKER_02]: That's how you want a physical corner to play, right?
- 57:36[SPEAKER_02]: Like take it to the edge, but don't get called for it.
- 57:39[SPEAKER_02]: And he did that.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_02]: So, all right, I think we're gonna wrap up there.
- 57:45[SPEAKER_02]: I appreciate all you guys for joining us at one point where like well over 300 people and all the streams.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_02]: We appreciate that.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_02]: Little intimidating for a first-time car cast, but
- 58:00[SPEAKER_02]: wouldn't have picked a better game to do it.
- 58:01[SPEAKER_02]: It would have been weird, right?
- 58:03[SPEAKER_02]: If this was like a bad performance, and I had to just come on here and just like, you know, sound like, I don't know.
- 58:19[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to say up at Alicia.
- 58:23[SPEAKER_02]: She's smiling.
- 58:23[SPEAKER_02]: It's okay.
- 58:27[SPEAKER_02]: All right, Randy from Redlands is good.
- 58:28[SPEAKER_02]: Well, Alicia, Alicia's in the chat.
- 58:30[SPEAKER_02]: So, um, she'll see that.
- 58:32[SPEAKER_02]: But, all right, guys, we'll be back Monday, normal time, 9 p.m. Pacific.
- 58:40[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks so much for joining us in the car cast as you get to big win.
- 58:44[SPEAKER_02]: Go enjoy your Sunday.
- 58:45[SPEAKER_02]: Go enjoy your weekend.
- 58:51[SPEAKER_02]: enjoy this win.
- 58:53[SPEAKER_02]: This is a game.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_02]: You only get so many of these kind of feel good wins.
- 59:01[SPEAKER_02]: Soap to the hell out of it.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_02]: Go, go and enjoy it.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_02]: Until next time, we will see.
- 59:08[SPEAKER_02]: See ya?
- 59:11[SPEAKER_02]: Nobody else says it back to me now.
