- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from again, darkness.
- 0:31So it's the porch today and it's raining because we're waiting on
- 0:35the hurricane to come through. So I'm going to do this one
- 0:40today on a favorite flower of mine, which has a very symbolic
- 0:44meaning in Buddhism, and that is the Lotus.
- 0:47And we know Lotus flowers are gorgeous.
- 0:49They are, you know, not necessarily so short lived, but
- 0:54they take those really special conditions in which to grow and
- 0:58that is mud, my friends. They like to grow in the muck
- 1:02the of the swamps. And they come out and they are
- 1:07extraordinary. They're beautiful.
- 1:09And in Buddhism, there's a symbol of this.
- 1:11So let let me just kind of lay this out for you.
- 1:15The Lotus flower is prized because it blossoms in muddy,
- 1:21swampy, disgusting, smelly things.
- 1:25What does this signify? It signifies that you can emerge
- 1:28from the swamp. You know I'm air quoting here of
- 1:31everyday life and still bloom. You can rise above the problems,
- 1:37rise above the muck. It's such a beautiful thing to
- 1:40think about that like you know that you're, you're in all the
- 1:43muck, you're in the world, but you're not of the world.
- 1:46You're rising above it. And there you are emerging as
- 1:49this beautiful flower. And that is supposed to
- 1:53represent the Buddha nature, who you really are.
- 1:55You rise above no matter how difficult your life is, no
- 1:59matter how difficult the circumstances that the Lotus
- 2:03represents Buddha nature and you will always bloom.
- 2:07You can bloom when you focus on that.
- 2:09So here's the fun part of this. When you start thinking about it
- 2:13and you say, you know, I want to have a very simple symbol that
- 2:17gives me a reminder of this. This is the, the, the way you
- 2:21see the Lotus. You put it in your life.
- 2:23You have pictures of it, you see it and you realize that from all
- 2:27the other things that are around you, you know, you have the
- 2:30opportunity to rise above it. Now here's what's interesting.
- 2:34You can always rise above it, but it's an opportunity.
- 2:39That's the key to this whole thing, my friends.
- 2:41It's an opportunity. It's not a guarantee that you'll
- 2:43rise above it unless you choose to rise above it.
- 2:47And I think for some of us, we forget that we have these
- 2:51choices. And I forget that we have these
- 2:54choices. Sometimes you just get hunkered
- 2:56down in the problem and you own the problem.
- 2:59It becomes your you obsess on it.
- 3:02You can't stop thinking about it.
- 3:03You, even you, you know you're doing it.
- 3:06I know I do it. And I say to myself, Oh my God,
- 3:09why am I thinking about this? And I have to stop myself now.
- 3:12Do I do that as much now as I used to years ago?
- 3:15No, because I've trained my brain to not go there.
- 3:19I have trained my brain that this is not resourceful, Stop
- 3:23it. And I, I use those words with
- 3:26myself sometimes, stop it because it reminds me, OK,
- 3:31that's a word. When you hear the word, stop it.
- 3:33It's kind of programmed into humans.
- 3:35If you hear someone yells, stop. Everyone freezes.
- 3:39And it's programmed so we can use that to our benefit.
- 3:43When you find yourself looping, when you find yourself not being
- 3:46the Lotus rising above the situation, you can tell yourself
- 3:51that word stop. Stop it, whatever it takes.
- 3:54And then look around and remind yourself while you are in this
- 3:58world, you are not of this world.
- 4:01Whatever your beliefs are, religion, spirituality, whatever
- 4:04it is, we are electric beings, we are vibration.
- 4:10We are pure potential energy. So we're here, but we are not of
- 4:15it. We can rise above it.
- 4:17I'm in the world, but I am not of the world.
- 4:19And we can rise above it like the Lotus does on that swamp.
- 4:24And it becomes this beautiful reminder floating that there is
- 4:28something completely different going on underneath.
- 4:31But not for you. You're up the top and your face
- 4:35is up to the sun, and you can see everything awesome that's
- 4:39happening. And that's why the flower is
- 4:41such an important symbol. So as we wait for the muck in
- 4:46the mire today to arrive with, you know, tornado warnings, it's
- 4:52it's like a interesting storm barreling through the gulf,
- 4:56coming right up and walk, whaling right through.
- 5:01We can remember that we have this beautiful way to not worry
- 5:05about it. We have this beautiful way to
- 5:06just say, I'm going to focus on something else.
- 5:09I'm going to rise above the situation and I'm going to be
- 5:12productive and feel centered no matter what is happening around
- 5:16me. So I hope you guys have a
- 5:18blessed day. I hope your day is less rainy
- 5:21and gross than ours potentially will be weather wise, but just
- 5:24know be in that state of the Lotus flower.
- 5:27All right, my friends, have a blessed day.
- 5:29Bye.
