- 0:00Speaker 1: Nightingale College, Yale College, Nightingale College, and it's Elena Wood
- 0:05Speaker 1: New Year. Let me get her here there we go. Oh,
- 0:07Speaker 1: happy new Year, Elena, Happy New Year.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Did you get anything nice for Christmas?
- 0:15Speaker 2: You know what I did? I got some really nice
- 0:17Speaker 2: stuff none.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Of your business. But it is none of your business.
- 0:22Speaker 2: It is it is top secret. I got a lot
- 0:24Speaker 2: of shower steamers. That's like the thing I'm most excited about.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Okay, Okay. Then super nerdy Elena is of course with
- 0:34Speaker 1: Nightingale College, and we're going to set ourselves up for
- 0:37Speaker 1: success here in this new year.
- 0:39Speaker 3: I'm ready. Tell me what to do, Eleena, do it.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Okay. So this is a list of items that aren't
- 0:46Speaker 2: really resolutions, but just little things that we can do
- 0:49Speaker 2: to kind of make our lives a little bit better.
- 0:52Speaker 2: The first recommendation is to clean up one small area
- 0:57Speaker 2: of the house. So just choose on corner that's been
- 1:01Speaker 2: collecting clutter and driving you a little bit crazy, and
- 1:04Speaker 2: spend some time and clean that up.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Okay, Okay, I could do that, don't yeah, Because if
- 1:09Speaker 3: you think, oh, I'm going to tackle the whole house,
- 1:11Speaker 3: that a lot. To start with a small area.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Just one little area, clean it up and be done
- 1:16Speaker 2: with it.
- 1:17Speaker 1: I'm going to declutter it. Yes, okay, what next?
- 1:22Speaker 2: The next recommendation is to create a reading list for
- 1:26Speaker 2: the year that brings you joy. So instead of only
- 1:30Speaker 2: choosing self help or scientific things, whatever it might be,
- 1:35Speaker 2: try and also choose some fun, uplifting, exciting reads.
- 1:40Speaker 3: I usually have two or three books on my nightstand,
- 1:44Speaker 3: and one of them is like a self healthy kind
- 1:47Speaker 3: of thing, and one of them is just like a
- 1:50Speaker 3: piece of candy. Like it's just yes, it does it
- 1:53Speaker 3: require a lot of me? And which one do you
- 1:56Speaker 3: read the most of it depends on how my day
- 1:59Speaker 3: was before.
- 2:01Speaker 2: That's absolutely perfect. Yeah. I have at least two books
- 2:05Speaker 2: going at any given moment, and very similar where I'm like, ugh,
- 2:09Speaker 2: I need to tune out. I read the piece of candy.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Yeah, what else do we have here?
- 2:15Speaker 2: Next is to decide a new skill you want to
- 2:18Speaker 2: learn this year and make a plan to do it.
- 2:22Speaker 2: So find your local painting class, the neighborhood piano teacher,
- 2:27Speaker 2: whatever that skill is, find find the person who teaches it,
- 2:30Speaker 2: and get on their calendar.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Anybody know anybody who teaches how to play highlight? I
- 2:35Speaker 1: want to learn how to play high might be a
- 2:39Speaker 1: little hard, all right. What's next?
- 2:43Speaker 2: Next is to plan at date night or friends outing
- 2:47Speaker 2: for each month so that you always have something to
- 2:50Speaker 2: look forward to.
- 2:53Speaker 3: And sometimes we're so busy you have to plan it
- 2:56Speaker 3: once out.
- 2:58Speaker 2: No exactly, Yeah, it's it's really hard, I think to
- 3:02Speaker 2: get on our own friend's calendar sometimes. And so in
- 3:06Speaker 2: five months we're going to have dinner and that that
- 3:08Speaker 2: might be the thing that finally works.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Yeah, all right.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Next next is to start a gratitude journal or a
- 3:17Speaker 2: win jar. And this is just to start some sort
- 3:21Speaker 2: of method to track the things that are going well
- 3:25Speaker 2: in each day. So either writing it down and putting
- 3:29Speaker 2: it in a jar so you can pull it out
- 3:31Speaker 2: and reflect on it later, or a journal or whatever
- 3:34Speaker 2: works best for you, just having someplace to record all
- 3:37Speaker 2: of the really good stuff that's happening in your life again,
- 3:41Speaker 2: so you can look back, reflect and kind of boost
- 3:43Speaker 2: your mood on those on those tougher days.
- 3:45Speaker 1: So would it just be slips of paper that you
- 3:47Speaker 1: would put in a jar? Is that what you're yeah? Oh,
- 3:50Speaker 1: I see, okay, yeah exactly all right. Make sure the
- 3:53Speaker 1: pickles are gone before you put its bill, all right,
- 4:02Speaker 1: and what else do we have here? Let's see. I
- 4:05Speaker 1: guess that's that's the list. That's pretty simple.
- 4:08Speaker 2: That is the list. Yeah, there's obviously so much that
- 4:11Speaker 2: you can do that are just small daily acts. These
- 4:13Speaker 2: are just the ones that I came up with for
- 4:15Speaker 2: us today.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Well, I mean, that's excellent. I'm gonna I'm gonna keep
- 4:17Speaker 1: this list to hand because these are all certainly very
- 4:22Speaker 1: attainable things to do.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Yes, absolutely, I love that.
- 4:27Speaker 1: All right. Now, if people want to find out more
- 4:29Speaker 1: about this kind of thing, Elena, what do they do?
- 4:32Speaker 2: You can learn more about this or Nightingale's amazing programs
- 4:35Speaker 2: by visiting Nightingale dot e d U.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Okay, thanks, thank you, we'll talk to you soon. Thank you.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Sounds good, all right, all right,
