- Scott Brandt: Not sure how many of you have heard the quote before that it's not the best, but it's the best known. And this, the person that I've heard this from came from Omar El-Takori. Welcome back to Together We Are Stronger, Leadership Straight, No Chasers. And it's a very interesting aspect when you think about trying to put yourself out there. A lot of business owners, leaders, a lot of people have the misconception of I don't want to put myself out there for whatever reason. I think a lot of that comes from the judgment piece. And so I tell people myself, my part of my background is being in the military and I hated the spotlight. I would do anything to not get awards. I would do anything to be in the background. So I didn't have to worry about anything floated over with me to starting my entrepreneurial journey where. I didn't want to be the spotlight. And the issue with that though is if nobody knows who you are, nobody's going to know and find out who you are because you have to be the biggest cheerleader for yourself. But a lot of us face and combat and fight against the judgment piece that we are putting out there that Bob and Sally down the street are going to judge us and we don't even know them. So we don't want to put anything out. there because we're scared of the judgment. So we're already doing judging for other people. And George, when I had shared this quote with you, I think it was about a month ago, two months ago. What came to mind when I first shared that quote with you? Big G: think about it visibility beats perfection and you'll see what's crazy is I wrote some things that you'll see amazing people stay broke and average ones build build empires and when you think about it you want God I want to be perfect in my business I want to do everything right tonight you know everything has to go in order Then you have the ones who have the clarity, the vision, and say, let's just move forward and we'll work on the stuff on the way to success. And those are the ones who really make it happen because they're not worried about the perfection part. They're not worried about, man, just like being in a podcast, how many times we freeze, how many times we sometimes lose internet and things like that. It happens. You just got to flow with it. You got to go with it. I think a lot of times people, you know, are trying to do everything perfect and it doesn't come out the way you want it. It gets very frustrating. And then you have the ones that, you know, are just making things happen. No matter what's thrown in front of them, still, and they create this empire in front of them. think that's the best way to really kind of put it because as I wrote this to help entrepreneurs and leaders, creators understand that their success depends less on being the best and more on being the best known in their lane. And I think a lot of times people forget that. You know, you can be talented as all gifted. God's given you. Scott Brandt: Mm. Big G: But if you don't show up every day and you wait for discovery, you're going to fail. Because you're waiting for things to happen and people who want to get things done just truthfully just move forward in it. no matter what's thrown at them. Scott Brandt: Mm. Yeah. Well, the interesting thing when you think about that, it really kind of goes back to our reptilian minds and the the caveman days that if you stuck out, if you didn't blend in, you're probably getting kicked out. so the thing on this is the same thing that a lot of people don't want to stick out, don't want to be their biggest cheerleader. They're like, ⁓ I know that people know I'm the best. I'll rely on other people to sing my praises. It's like, screw that. I am the one that needs to be known. And if nobody else wants to shop, then cool, because you're relying on other people to speak for you. And the interesting thing is there are times where people are like, Hey, I need XYZ. And then you start seeing people are like, ⁓ you should talk to Bob. You should talk to bill XYZ. They saved us money. This is that. But what is different about this person that really drives the fact that you should work with this person because everybody can save everybody money because that's everybody's go-to. But what is it about this person that's different that really is going to separate themselves from everybody else because we see a lot of business owners, they all sound the same and it's a necklace chamber. And at the end of the day, you make it very hard for somebody to decide to go with you because you sound like everybody else. And so it's a very interesting thing on that piece because we are scared of getting kicked out of the tribe because we're different and The other flip side to that though is if you do stand out, you have people are like, I don't want to deal with this person because they're different. And it's a crazy thing when you start looking into rely on other people and you're trying to get validation from others. It's like half these people out here don't even know about themselves. So why are you trying to get stuff from other people? that they don't even give to them. And so it's, it's, it's a wild thing right now, because when I started thinking about this stuff, it's, it really fires me up just because if I can go back in time with the stuff I know now, ⁓ it would be completely different, but, ⁓ then who knows if this podcast would exist, be in existence. If I could have a time machine to go back in time. So it's a very interesting piece because the being the best known also opens up the door to build the relationship capital, get connected with other people because you're different. And there's something about you that somebody else needs to get to know who you are, get to know who this person is. And so it goes. to that piece of it doesn't matter what you have and it could be the best thing on this world. That is not what's gonna sell it. It's you as a person is what's gonna sell whatever it is. Because if you go from this product to another product, the central piece is you. And so the thing that you have to understand is if you are not being... Voicetris for yourself and you're like I'm scared and what are they going to think? Screw that you need to get out there and if you want to do big things you need to put yourself out there and become the best known and so I don't know I'm fired up right now, but this topic right now is one Big G: ⁓ You're making a point visibility is the bridge between value and your impact Your mind shift has your mind has to shift. And what that means is that you got to stop chasing perfection and start chasing connections. Just as something that you said just a few minutes ago, excellence matters, but awareness multiplies excellence. So when you are multiplying yourself and you're making things happen, you have a a momentum growing. You're moving forward. A lot of times people wait and say, know what, I need to make sure the stars and the moon light up and then we can nail it. And it doesn't happen that way because every time you plan for something, well, number one, God laughs. Number two is that you're waiting for it to be perfect and it's not. The best way is to really just move it forward. And as I made notes, greatness without exposure equals frustration. and a ton of people get frustrated because they're looking for that one hit. You don't have to be better than everyone else. You just have to be seen, heard, and trusted more often. And I think a lot of times as business owners, Scott Brandt: Hmm. Big G: CEOs and leaders we missed that and there's times listen you make a mistake Things happen, but you got to keep moving forward even though you got your critics You got people talking smack. You just got to keep pouring into you what you're doing because By the time it's over It's during the river mirror and you keep moving on and as I said here Scott Brandt: Mm. Big G: Obscurity kills more dreams than failure and Break that down. People just kill their own drinks. Scott Brandt: Hmm. Yeah, they don't. It's the it's the judging piece and that's what it goes down to. And the crazy thing is you do all the judging for everybody else and a lot of these people don't care. And so it's like I'm going to do judging for everybody and then waste time and energy when it doesn't even matter. So right now, hit that like button if there's value coming out of this and it's really hitting you in the gut and you're like, ⁓ man, yeah. Big G: Yeah. Scott Brandt: Yeah, just this so. The flip side to this though is that by being the best known, I was talking to Danielle today and she's like I don't give out business cards to anybody because what she's starting to see is like you give a business card to somebody and the first thing that happens is you get added to an email list. And so and then it's like here you go and like you didn't even get asked. Hey, can I put you on my email list? It's like no, I've got your business card, so you've given me permission to put you on this email list. No, you need to build the value and let people get to know who you are and then offer and say hey, would you like to sign up for my sign up list or here's something that I have. But if you want to get it in the value that I'm giving you, you need to give me your email list or email list. You need to give me your email. But the crazy thing is when I heard that, I was like, I'm not very big in networking. You already know how this is. I've told, we've talked about this. I dislike networking because it's very superficial from what I see. And so hearing that, I'm like, this is why people do stupid things and then make other people pissed off and then things don't work because you have idiots. that we're doing something before and they're like, oh yeah, this is gonna work. And then it's like, no, like there's still etiquette that you gotta follow that for whatever reason we're like, we're throwing this out the window. We're gonna jam this into a square peg when it's a round hole. so it's, I told you, I don't know why this topic all of a is giving me ideas. Big G: So let me ask you this and give our listeners real world examples. What makes McDonald's different from a local burger? Scott Brandt: So are we talking about what is it that people really don't understand? Because what's coming to mind is that McDonald's is not a fast food chain. They're in the market for Land Grab and so it is finding positioning with the land that they're getting. But the thing is on this one too though, notice how many competitors are around them. So we're going to give options. Big G: out Scott Brandt: But people will figure out who their favorite is and go to that. And if something happens, they're like, cool. So I don't know if that's the direction you were trying to go here. If I just pulled something and said, here we go, we're going to go this way. Big G: Here we go, here we go. The difference ends between a local burger place in McDonald's. Now, they're not known for the best burgers. McDonald's. is because they're on billboards, they do commercials, they put themselves out there. That's what makes it. If you took a look at Grant Cardone, Gary Vee, and Mr. Beast, I don't know, I'll pick these. They didn't become famous because they're the best in their field. They're the best film because they out-posted everyone, out-showed everyone, they out-shared everyone else, and that's That's what it is. It's not because they're the best, they're best now, but they just outperformed everyone else by pushing themselves out there. And I think that's the topic I'm talking about. If you take a look at a small contractor, a small contractor who consists post-video testimonies and Q &A service will outsell more skilled competitors who never are in the market. So what saying is exactly, if you ever have a business and you're moving and you're doing real ⁓ reels and you're doing live. doing this, you will outperform because it's not about perfection. You're just throwing it down as a business owner showing your business, your platform. You will outperform somebody who has a big name, has money in the bank, you outperform them because your face is out there a lot more. You are networking your business and it's not perfect. You could be doing it yourself and laughing and have fun. I'm telling you, see real Scott Brandt: Hmm. Big G: do that and they just they're just selling them a mat of homes because they're just having fun and you know they're having fun and they put bloopers out there and they do all kinds of stuff so I know you know that's the real-world examples I put out because it's the truth people can could see that Scott Brandt: Hmm. Mm. Yeah. So yeah, for these types of videos, if you're looking for more of these and really just say shake up with the perspective, hit the subscribe button. I would have to ask though is what have you overthought and you're not putting it out there because you're scared and you're like, ⁓ this is the best. This is what somebody needs, but nobody knows what it is because you're not putting yourself out there. what are you doing or what should you be doing going forward to become the best known? So it's a very interesting thing because we've done some different things like the whole video stuff and I'll share stuff with George just because of building out the team and helping increase each other's reach. And I shared some with George and he's like, he looked at the video and he's not even taking the course. And all of sudden I watched the video, I was like, What are you doing? Like I didn't say do it this way. I said here watch this get an idea and go do it. And then he's taking it like shot for shot. I'm like, oh my God, but it's okay because that I we would much rather that happen, but it's just funny because that will tell you if somebody is really adamant on wanting to do something or are they big talk? And then if you give them something to tap into, are they going to follow through? So it's one of those interesting things, but that we've had this conversation and it's funny because Danielle was the first one that really challenged me to do videos. And I was like, I don't wanna do this. And this was back when I was doing college planning for families. And I was like, I don't want to, but she's like, no, you should really think about it. And so was like, all right. And so I went and did it. And so now it's something that with everything that we're doing. and really sharing the information, the knowledge with others, helping them out. It's a much different landscape than what it is. But that's the thing is a lot of times you have people that will try to go tell something to somebody else, but they've never done it. So it's funny because when AI started kicking off and even though AI has been around since like 1970 and people don't realize this, but when ChatGPT came out was real big, I would see people that would try to go put it out there and say, hey, we'll teach you how to use AI. And the description, I was writing the description and I was like, this sounds like I kicked out from ChatGPT. So I went and copied it, grabbed it, threw it back into ChatGPT and said, please tell me, did you write this? And it came back and it's like, yep, I wrote this. I was like, okay. The, have to be very mindful though that if you've never done it before, how do you expect to say, let me go learn this in five seconds and then turn around and say, I can teach you what it is. But then the issue that we have is everybody becomes carbon copies and then the tools are not producing like they should because we've had people that are like, I'll teach you this, but I don't even know. And so. the product that is getting put into the tool is horrible and it's garbage. And then we wonder why people are like, this is stupid. I don't like this because we've had everybody and their moms jump on and be like, ⁓ yeah, I know this. No, you don't quit this, knock that shit off. But for whatever reason, we're trying to find some way to stay with the trends and not be true to ourselves. And so that's the other thing with this is You have to be the best known, but you also need to be true to yourself because if you are showing up fake and not true, people can sense that. understand there is a very fine line to walk here, but you have to be mindful of these different things that people don't realize. Big G: I think the word of this podcast is disability. Because if you're not out there, I'm sitting here writing and... Are you waiting for people to find you? Or are you showing up where people are looking? a lot of times miss that opportunity. know, as I'm sitting here thinking, listening to you know, top of the mind is top of opportunities. And I think that times that people, you know, when you talk about that video, you told me showed me and next thing I mean, that video hit like 800 views. Scott Brandt: Hmm. Big G: You know, and I had no idea what I doing. It wasn't the best. I mean, it best known. was just, it was hilarious. But it made a point. When you're out there and you've, and you put yourself out there, your business, what you do, people start getting traction and watch you grow. And next you know, it's all about timing. What you do, and especially like in construction, people want to know. You know what? I don't want someone else. I want to rebuild. And by doing, you you're out there, you know, you're visible. People are going to see that. People are going to connect. I think that's the word of this is... You don't have to be perfect. You just got to throw it out there and have great content in a sense of you're clear. You know what you talk about. You're you're up and honest. You're figuring things out. You take care of things. You will find you. And I think that's what's so fun about what we do is that, know, we have so many different things happen on our podcasts, your Internet, this and this and that. Scott Brandt: Mm. Big G: But we keep moving forward and you just laugh, you have fun, and you keep moving on. Scott Brandt: Well, the internet situation, this is three for three that it hasn't froze on us yet. So I think I've got this figured out and I told you that I think I had it figured out before there was a button that I was missing. And now we're not dealing with that because the button that was missing is being clicked to not be on. So I like how you try to do that. So the, the thing to ask yourself though, and really think about this is how much of you. Big G: ⁓ Scott Brandt: a disservice are you doing to others by not being the best known? How many people that truly need you and what you offer are deciding to go elsewhere because they don't know who you are? And then they're probably getting worse service from somebody else because that connection is not this person, this person, it was you and that person. But because you're scared and you're judging and you're doing the judging for everybody else, who are you doing a disservice to by not showing up and being the best known? I'll leave it there. That's all that needs to take place there. You need to sit on that. You need to chew on it and really question what do you need to do? Because if you are missing out on serving those that you're supposed to serve, what are you doing? Big G: Yeah, and I think you got to share your story. you know, as when I started being Sam's partner. Stunnawahl is the one, like yeah he could do it and my whole family's involved now right and I have like ⁓ my god Those bought me a $500 suit, whole works. But what I started doing, I had no idea. I'm doing these crazy videos. I'm putting it on Facebook. I'm on social media. But here, in two years, we have seen over 430 children on my goofy videos. then we had Tyler did some AI work for us. Santa flying in the whole works and it was great is because You just don't realize Even though you think your videos are just walked out they have touched so many people just imagine Having in two years 430 children show up to see Santa, Mrs. Claus, and the elves, and the Grinch, and everything else. And why I share this story is because it's real. I had so much fun. I'm to start next week doing videos again and getting things going. And I think it's just being natural. Be yourself. It's just because it's not perfect doesn't mean it's not working. It's working. Scott Brandt: Hmm. Big G: I want to make sure I want to share that and get that connection with people because You don't have to be like Scott. mean how many years been told me start doing video? Start talking and start doing things. I mean how many years has it been? Scott Brandt: Not as long as you think it is. Honestly, it's not it's not hasn't been that long because I was I was thinking we I think we met we met each other in 2019 when I recall and look back. I believe 2019 is when we first connected. ⁓ But I think it's the last couple of years in regards to before really jumping into this doing what you're doing. Big G: Probably be about four years. Remember we have to fix that urban thing. Yeah, at least. Scott Brandt: But I think before that, it was a couple of years of just really sliding into the conversation, having that part of that, and then really just having you really take a deep dive and think on it. ⁓ but that's the other thing though too, is you can't push people, but when people don't fully understand, you have to have it as part of the conversation, but don't force it. Don't force the conversation because you don't want to miss out on the opportunity. It's just. bringing it to their attention, having the conversation, and then they have to make the determination at the end of the day. But that's also where it is the person's journey, but the mentor is there to walk with them. And so it's the same thing here. It's you, you want to have the conversations. You don't want to hamstring somebody and really potentially cut off that relationship because you were a jerk. And so that's where there's a fine line with all this stuff here. And so you have to be very mindful, but understand who you're dealing with, who you're talking to, because everybody receives and interacts with information at a different level, different pace. And so that's also where you have to understand humans are humans and each of us are different. And so you can't force people into just one area. And that's, that's another thing too, because kind of from the military, have a lot of leaders that are like, ⁓ my door's open. Come talk to me. But the issue is, is a lot of times leaders try to stick people in one box and then they miss out because that box may not fit somebody else, but you're not taking the time and the effort to understand the humans are different. And so you need to figure out how to interact with people, but that's a tough thing because that's a lot of energy. That's a lot of time and adjusting habits. And so a lot of people are very short focused and they miss out. So are you, are you really sure you want to play the long game? Because if you don't want to play the long game, then the things that you're telling people, are they in alignment with that? Because if you're just talking to talk, you're not doing anything for anybody. when I look at this, this is a long game because there's skills that you have to work on. There's things that you have to adjust on. And if you are truly about doing and making changes in affecting the lives of others, there are things that you have to do. but are you ready to go with that long game? Because if you're not, then don't even try to do anything and try to help people because you're probably gonna do more damage than good for individuals, even though you're like, I wanna help people, I'm doing my best. No, it's a long game. Are you really about the long game? Or are you just talking to talk to make other people feel good and make yourself feel good? And that can be a tough thing to swallow here right now because people are like, I want to help other people out. Understand this is a long game that a lot of people don't play the long game properly. They're doing some craziness. They're not changing themselves because if you're operating from a broken system and you're trying to help others out with your broken system, you ain't doing shit for anybody. So if it's broken, it's broken. so this is why you're centered on everything. You've got to do the work. You've got to work on yourself. But a lot of people don't want to do it because it's a lot of time effort and you have to be open to changing your thoughts, your perspectives, your feelings. You've got to do all this and it's not easy. And so that's where if you are in the moment, you're present, you can tell who's true and who's not. And you can start weeding people out, but this, right? This piece here is going to be hard for some people to really grasp and hold onto because people want to do it, but do you truly want to do the deep hard work? Big G: can't wait for the perfection to show up because it'll never will. I guess your community rewards those who share boldly, being passionate, being real, and often. And I think a lot of times people are scared to. I wrote some things down and the one thing, I will leave this. The world doesn't crown the best, it crowns the best known. As being known starts the moment you stop hiding your story. And I challenge our listeners, post something today, a lesson, a story, a photo, a memory of your visibility is your credibility. And I think, you know, for our listeners, If you see something that is really touching you and you want to do something, don't kind of say this. Don't be mean. Don't say you're going to do it and then you get scared and you don't. It's the whole saying tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow. Scott knows that. And Scott has been seriously, he's been. on top of me on you know, let's get it going, let's get it going. And what I mean by that is this, if you feel you wanna go do a video and it's something that's about building Legos or it's about fishing or just about something you're passionate about, post it, do a video on it. Because you're not just the only one in the world. There might be tons of people looking for that answer. think a lot of times people don't want to get on video, don't want to talk. But you know what? I see myself, I see a lot of people that are introverted. I'm not introverted at all. I was just scared to get on video. I have no idea why. But... There's a lot of people are into her and now you start to see the real them. They hid behind their story. They hid behind being scared and you just gotta be visible. You gotta you gotta be out there and you gotta share your story. You gotta let people know what you love to do and win. And that's not about the money. It is it's about helping others and touching others so they understand they're not alone. Scott Brandt: Hmm. Big G: This is why we started Together We Are Stronger. You never have to be on the island. Share your story, share your post, and let's make things happen. Scott Brandt: Yeah, again, if you're looking for these types of videos, hit the subscribe button. If you're on YouTube, there's a small little subscribe button that runs like I can't see it. But it's out there if you're if you're watching this video and whatnot, or just go to the main page of the subscribe button. And of course, if you're a true leader, and you know, people are struggling with if you're showing this for yourself, you need to watch this like five, six, seven, eight times. for something to stick and something to click because it may take seven, eight, nine, 15 times to hear this until something breaks and you're like, ⁓ okay, yeah, that's what it is. or go find others that are speaking on this too, because we may share something and it may not stick, but somebody else may be on the same thing and it clicks and you're like, ⁓ okay, yes. So that's the thing, either this 15 times or go find other people that are in the same realm that's talking about this topic. And go fix it because if you are hiding, who are you doing a disservice to by not showing up? So other than that, we'll catch you on the next episode. Appreciate this journey. Big G: Thank you.
