- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Hello and welcome back to another episode of Star Wars Alliance.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Of course, I'm your host, Clay, and with me in
- 0:28Speaker 2: the year twenty twenty five is of course, Katie, Katie,
- 0:34Speaker 2: how you doing.
- 0:35Speaker 3: I'm good. My baby slept through the night. I had
- 0:40Speaker 3: two straight nights of good sleep, like we are golden.
- 0:45Speaker 2: That's something that I have to ask you because this is,
- 0:47Speaker 2: of course your first New Year with a baby. So
- 0:51Speaker 2: she didn't wake up from any of the fireworks, no, nothing.
- 0:55Speaker 3: So she had issues going to sleep with the fireworks okay,
- 1:01Speaker 3: but once she got to sleep, she was out. Like
- 1:05Speaker 3: after Skeleton Crew. I told Matt, I was like, we
- 1:08Speaker 3: were looking at the monitor and I was like, I'm
- 1:11Speaker 3: gonna have to go in and see if she's breathing,
- 1:12Speaker 3: because she literally hadn't moved a bit. And as soon
- 1:16Speaker 3: as I get up, she coughs. Because we're still dealing
- 1:19Speaker 3: with like post RSV stuff and everything, so she coughs,
- 1:24Speaker 3: and I'm like, oh, okay, I don't have to go
- 1:26Speaker 3: with there.
- 1:28Speaker 2: No, so with us we uh. There actually wasn't a
- 1:33Speaker 2: whole lot of fireworks until after she was already asleep,
- 1:36Speaker 2: which I was like, God dang it. There's a huge
- 1:40Speaker 2: coliseum literally right across the street from us, and in
- 1:44Speaker 2: their parking lot they shoot off a ton of fireworks
- 1:49Speaker 2: on New Year's and on Fourth of July.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Oh no, we live in a neighborhood of America.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Fuck yeah, so yeah, yeah, I used to be in
- 2:01Speaker 2: one of those neighborhoods.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Good to the Southern culture.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Her her window is facing the Colisseum though. Yeah, so
- 2:09Speaker 2: I was like, oh God, like this is gonna be horrible,
- 2:12Speaker 2: But thankfully she didn't wake up. Our biggest thing was Flynn.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Flynn was freaking the hell out. So what I ended
- 2:21Speaker 2: up doing was I just grabbed one of our throw blankets,
- 2:24Speaker 2: I threw it on top of them, and then I
- 2:26Speaker 2: just hugged him for like a full like thirty minutes,
- 2:30Speaker 2: so that way all the weight could just be on
- 2:33Speaker 2: him and he could just like settle down. So that
- 2:36Speaker 2: helped him a bit. And then I think.
- 2:39Speaker 3: For some reason, Antilia's and Benny have never had issues
- 2:43Speaker 3: with thunderstorms, fireworks really nothing, like never had an issue.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Like I and my dogs are from the same breeder
- 2:51Speaker 3: that my mom's dogs are from, and like she has
- 2:54Speaker 3: to get sedatives from her vet for the dogs back
- 2:59Speaker 3: because will just flip out, and like they're at the
- 3:02Speaker 3: age because like I think one of them, one of
- 3:06Speaker 3: them is eleven years old and the other is ten
- 3:12Speaker 3: years old, So they're at the age where if you
- 3:14Speaker 3: give them a senative, they're basically going to pee everywhere.
- 3:18Speaker 3: But if they're scared, they're also going to pee everywhere.
- 3:22Speaker 2: So yikes. Yeah, for us, Flynn, he he does not
- 3:29Speaker 2: do great with any type of sound, and I unfortunately
- 3:35Speaker 2: think it's just due to the amount of anxiety that
- 3:38Speaker 2: he has. Yeah, and we just need to see a
- 3:43Speaker 2: vet about that. It's it's crazy, but uh, we are
- 3:48Speaker 2: going to be talking about very small news segments that
- 3:53Speaker 2: we have, but also our biggest thing is of course
- 3:58Speaker 2: Skeleton Crew episodees five and six. Of course five happened
- 4:04Speaker 2: during Christmas and we weren't gonna go live or record
- 4:09Speaker 2: on Christmas, so we're gonna be talking about that episode,
- 4:12Speaker 2: which was a very fun episode by the way. We'll
- 4:17Speaker 2: talk about that brief small thoughts on that, and then
- 4:22Speaker 2: of course this week's episode happening on New Year's Eve,
- 4:27Speaker 2: which is episode six. So let's go ahead and talk
- 4:33Speaker 2: about a news topic that we actually have a source
- 4:37Speaker 2: from because our second the second topic doesn't really have
- 4:43Speaker 2: a source, but we will talk about it very briefly.
- 4:47Speaker 2: This conversation piece is Justina Ireland confirms that Way Seeker
- 4:55Speaker 2: and a Valiant Vow will be her final Star Wars books. So,
- 5:04Speaker 2: and what we're reading it from says a body of
- 5:07Speaker 2: works she is very proud of. Now her actual uh.
- 5:12Speaker 3: A body of work to be very proud of.
- 5:14Speaker 2: So yeah, yeah, so her her actual I think this
- 5:18Speaker 2: is from threads. Looking at the screenshot, I'm not entirely
- 5:23Speaker 2: sure or if it's from like Reddit or something. The
- 5:28Speaker 2: actual the actual post reads two Star Wars books out
- 5:33Speaker 2: on May six, twenty twenty five, week Seeker and a
- 5:36Speaker 2: Valiant Vow. They are also my last Star Wars books.
- 5:41Speaker 2: And for this es she also writes not counting a
- 5:44Speaker 2: mace when new graphic novel. Now that's what everybody, of
- 5:49Speaker 2: course is talking about. I latched onto the very last thing,
- 5:54Speaker 2: and she wrote the end of a very exhausting era. Now, Katie,
- 6:02Speaker 2: I wrote that doesn't sound very positive, Like now, I
- 6:07Speaker 2: understand that, like writing and any career can be exhausting, right,
- 6:17Speaker 2: but why put this out at the very end of
- 6:22Speaker 2: that announcement?
- 6:25Speaker 3: I think it's mainly because, like obviously, with the new
- 6:31Speaker 3: year and everything, people are kind of like, here's what
- 6:34Speaker 3: you can expect. Like all the writers that I follow
- 6:36Speaker 3: on substack have kind of done something very similar, like Okay,
- 6:40Speaker 3: here's what's coming out. And I find it funny that
- 6:46Speaker 3: she still doesn't know the release date for her Mace
- 6:49Speaker 3: Winden graphic novel first of all, like dark Horse, please
- 6:53Speaker 3: get your stuff together in twenty twenty five, Like she's
- 6:57Speaker 3: clearly already written it, like it, Why is it not
- 7:02Speaker 3: ready for publication? Or we don't know a real state?
- 7:04Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't find the end of a
- 7:10Speaker 3: very exhausting era thing concerning because I mean, she's been
- 7:16Speaker 3: swamped with Star Wars stuff, and like, I don't blame
- 7:21Speaker 3: writers for wanting to go out and do their own thing.
- 7:23Speaker 3: I think that's why we saw less of Charles Soul
- 7:26Speaker 3: for Phase three, because he had so many personal projects
- 7:31Speaker 3: eight tho Genies and then his novel that he wrote,
- 7:39Speaker 3: The Endless Vessel. So I think Charles Soul was able
- 7:45Speaker 3: to put a limit on it, but maybe Justina, as
- 7:49Speaker 3: a woman of color, was not able to kind of
- 7:52Speaker 3: draw the same boundaries. I also always say never, say never.
- 7:58Speaker 3: She may just be looking for a break and just
- 8:01Speaker 3: wanting to do her own thing. There's always possibilities to
- 8:04Speaker 3: come back too, But I mean, I always go back
- 8:10Speaker 3: to what Tom has said, they always have problems finding
- 8:14Speaker 3: authors to write for Star Wars because they don't want
- 8:16Speaker 3: to deal with fan backlash.
- 8:18Speaker 2: So and that was one of the things that I
- 8:20Speaker 2: wanted to bring up. I saw as hey, that's not
- 8:24Speaker 2: very positive and not saying that she is not proud
- 8:29Speaker 2: of her what she's written, but like you said, she
- 8:33Speaker 2: could be very proud of her work and then have
- 8:36Speaker 2: all of these toxic individuals jumping into her dms saying
- 8:40Speaker 2: out in public like how much they don't like her work.
- 8:45Speaker 2: That can be the exhausting parts. And I think with
- 8:48Speaker 2: her being such a large vocal minority in the UH,
- 8:56Speaker 2: I guess like, honestly it is the majority of Star
- 8:59Speaker 2: Wars authors these days, which is a good thing, but
- 9:04Speaker 2: in the High Republic, you know very much, making lgbtt
- 9:11Speaker 2: LGBTQ plus a very known thing throughout these books, and
- 9:21Speaker 2: I think that could be the exhausting thing is that
- 9:24Speaker 2: she has been working so hard to be very inclusive
- 9:29Speaker 2: and all she's gotten in you know, a reaction to
- 9:33Speaker 2: that is backlash. Now, I'll be completely honest. In the
- 9:40Speaker 2: circles of Twitter that I was in for Star Wars
- 9:46Speaker 2: for the New year, I've you know, I said this
- 9:50Speaker 2: last show for the new year, I think I'm gonna
- 9:51Speaker 2: be posting more on Threads and on Blue Sky for
- 9:57Speaker 2: more work related comic book and and all of that stuff.
- 10:01Speaker 2: But I'm hoping to find Star Wars circles within Threads.
- 10:06Speaker 2: And when I was on Twitter all the toxicity wasn't
- 10:11Speaker 2: necessarily with the novels, though with the high republic stuff
- 10:16Speaker 2: it was probably very in my circles, like I said,
- 10:20Speaker 2: very minor, but in you know your circles, which is
- 10:25Speaker 2: more of the book community and Star Wars community, it
- 10:29Speaker 2: may have been a little bit louder.
- 10:32Speaker 3: I don't. I think all of her novels have been
- 10:34Speaker 3: really well received, but going back to she's a woman
- 10:39Speaker 3: of color, like conventions may have been more angsty. To
- 10:49Speaker 3: put it nicely, obviously, none of us can really guarantee
- 10:55Speaker 3: her experience, but like and also, I've tended to block
- 11:02Speaker 3: people who just want to be toxic or negative for
- 11:08Speaker 3: the publicity reasons, so I can't say that I would
- 11:13Speaker 3: have seen anything. But like a lot of people are
- 11:17Speaker 3: looking forward to her Mace Windy graphic novel because they
- 11:19Speaker 3: think she can treat the character right. So I think
- 11:23Speaker 3: there's a lot of stuff at play. And I mean,
- 11:27Speaker 3: I know the High Republic stuff. They've been working on
- 11:31Speaker 3: the High Republic since twenty eighteen, so that's almost like
- 11:36Speaker 3: by the end of this in July, that will have
- 11:39Speaker 3: been seven years. And she's been writing for Star Wars
- 11:44Speaker 3: since twenty eighteen. She had Lando's Luck, a Spark of
- 11:48Speaker 3: the Resistance, and then all her High Republic stuff in
- 11:52Speaker 3: Santa Starros and everything, so she's got a lot on
- 11:57Speaker 3: our plate. And like her non Star Wars stuff like
- 12:01Speaker 3: dread Nation was very well received and was up for
- 12:06Speaker 3: several awards, So like, I know, people are looking forward
- 12:12Speaker 3: to her getting back to original fiction and everything.
- 12:17Speaker 2: So yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:21Speaker 3: I read Rested in the Root. It was very good, So.
- 12:25Speaker 2: I well that was That's one thing that I'm wanting
- 12:28Speaker 2: to do for for the new year, is I'm wanting
- 12:33Speaker 2: to read. Of course, we're we're gonna read anything and
- 12:36Speaker 2: everything Star Wars that comes into uh our direction, but
- 12:40Speaker 2: I do want to read more non Star Wars books.
- 12:44Speaker 2: I didn't get a whole lot on my plate for
- 12:47Speaker 2: twenty twenty four. I would really love to do that
- 12:49Speaker 2: for twenty twenty five. But yeah, I I hope Justina
- 12:54Speaker 2: the best, and I hope that she does, you know,
- 12:58Speaker 2: uh end up coming back because we really enjoyed her
- 13:02Speaker 2: stories within the Star Wars universe. So our next topic,
- 13:10Speaker 2: like I said, does not have a very creditor for
- 13:17Speaker 2: this time because you had even said that some people
- 13:20Speaker 2: were saying that this is old news. I feel like
- 13:22Speaker 2: we have talked about this before.
- 13:27Speaker 3: Oh I said it with the Snyder stuff.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Oh okay, okay, okay, okay, okay. So with with this one,
- 13:36Speaker 2: we couldn't necessarily find an exact quote, but it is
- 13:41Speaker 2: said that Dave filoni Is still occasionally has occasional calls
- 13:48Speaker 2: with George Lucas uh for advice and has an open
- 13:53Speaker 2: door policy if George Lucas ever wants to make another project.
- 14:00Speaker 2: How do you feel about this? Well, here's here's my
- 14:06Speaker 2: first question. Do you think George Lucas will ever make
- 14:15Speaker 2: another Star Wars project?
- 14:17Speaker 3: No, there's a fucking reason.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Yes, no one. I think this is uh like, it's
- 14:31Speaker 2: a very silly thing for felony to put out there
- 14:35Speaker 2: in the world because I think in the optics of
- 14:42Speaker 2: corporate America and the entertainment industry and the kinds of
- 14:48Speaker 2: backlash that Star Wars has gotten from very toxic individuals
- 14:52Speaker 2: that they still for some reason adhere to and want
- 14:57Speaker 2: to get their money from, say things like this to
- 15:02Speaker 2: keep them on board. Yep, one hundred percent, that's what
- 15:07Speaker 2: it is. And these people are like, I still have
- 15:11Speaker 2: hope George Lucas keep coming whenever he wants. I think
- 15:14Speaker 2: it's gonna happen. I think it's gonna happen. And then
- 15:16Speaker 2: they still keep on track with that Star Wars content. Guys,
- 15:22Speaker 2: we can let those people go.
- 15:23Speaker 4: All right, y'all, we are gonna hit our first ad
- 15:25Speaker 4: break and we will be right back in three two one.
- 15:31Speaker 2: They are they they will not hurt your wallet. I
- 15:35Speaker 2: promise you, Disney, I promise you Star Wars.
- 15:38Speaker 3: And it's wild that coming back to this, because the
- 15:43Speaker 3: funniest thing would be that George Lucas would make a
- 15:46Speaker 3: Star Wars movie. And some people said this in the
- 15:49Speaker 3: comments and the quotes on this tweet and everything, but
- 15:52Speaker 3: the funniest thing would be George Lucas wouldn't make a
- 15:54Speaker 3: Star Wars film and everybody would hate it. Yes, the
- 16:00Speaker 3: idea of the Star Wars Universe is the Expanded Universe.
- 16:04Speaker 3: And despite my love for the Expanded Universe, George Lucas
- 16:09Speaker 3: hated it. He did like.
- 16:12Speaker 2: He called it fan fiction. People, you need to understand this,
- 16:17Speaker 2: He like, it's so annoying.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Their biggest their biggest thing is latching on to Luke
- 16:25Speaker 3: Skywalker as the hero of their childhood. And that's what
- 16:29Speaker 3: the Expanded Universe did. And don't get me wrong, I
- 16:32Speaker 3: loved having Luke and his family be the heroes of
- 16:35Speaker 3: the Expanded Universe and getting those Oh the Skywalker family
- 16:39Speaker 3: saved the day stories I did. They still exists in
- 16:42Speaker 3: the Expanded Universe, and now that I'm an adult, I realized, Hey,
- 16:47Speaker 3: it's more important for a family to grow and understand
- 16:51Speaker 3: itself in its legacy and make modifications to change that.
- 16:55Speaker 3: That is the hero's journey. The journey is not consistently
- 16:59Speaker 3: being a hero.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Yes, you are going one. H that's like it's it's
- 17:09Speaker 2: a it's a curse and a gift for people like
- 17:15Speaker 2: me and you, Katie, because I know you do it too.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Don't say that you don't. But when you watch a
- 17:19Speaker 2: film or a TV show and there is a clear
- 17:25Speaker 2: story set up to how this movie's gonna go. You're
- 17:29Speaker 2: already your your gears are already turning, and like, what's
- 17:33Speaker 2: the conflict gonna be? What's the challenge for this character
- 17:37Speaker 2: gonna be? Because if there's not a challenge, if there's
- 17:39Speaker 2: not a conflict, then it's pointless. There is nothing for
- 17:44Speaker 2: that character to learn. And then we as individuals are
- 17:48Speaker 2: disappointed because it becomes a hey, turn off your brain,
- 17:54Speaker 2: learn nothing type of movie type of story. And I
- 18:00Speaker 2: movies and.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Is and sometimes those movies are in a good spot
- 18:06Speaker 3: because like Matt and I have been sleep deprived, so
- 18:08Speaker 3: that's why Mara's sleeping through the night last night was fantastic.
- 18:12Speaker 3: But like we went to watch Jour Number two, the
- 18:15Speaker 3: new Clint Eastwood movie that's on Max.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Yes, Yes, yes, and it's.
- 18:19Speaker 3: Like basically, like this guy figures out that he killed
- 18:24Speaker 3: the person that is, like he's on the jury for
- 18:28Speaker 3: to like and stuff, and so you have to figure
- 18:32Speaker 3: out like all along did he actually do it? What
- 18:34Speaker 3: was the reason and everything? And like she woke up
- 18:40Speaker 3: and Matt and I were both like, this isn't happening
- 18:43Speaker 3: and we woke up the next morning, We're like, Okay,
- 18:44Speaker 3: are we too tired for this movie? Like do we
- 18:50Speaker 3: need something that we don't have to watch but still
- 18:53Speaker 3: want to watch? Yeah, And like we haven't started Squid
- 18:57Speaker 3: Game because we're going to watch the sub for the
- 19:00Speaker 3: and with a baby, it's almost impossible to pay attention
- 19:03Speaker 3: to subtitles. Yeah, so's understanding they're necessary. And like I
- 19:11Speaker 3: liked them as a kid because they were predictable. It
- 19:15Speaker 3: was always Okay, what's happening, what's the conflict? But then
- 19:19Speaker 3: Luke Skywalker or a Lea or Hinde is coming in
- 19:22Speaker 3: to save the day, like at the end of it,
- 19:25Speaker 3: and it was escapism fiction. Yeah, and too many adults
- 19:28Speaker 3: are trying to stick with that.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Yeah, Like I, well, in the biggest thing for me
- 19:37Speaker 2: and I think for you as well, because we even
- 19:39Speaker 2: talk about it nowadays with this new Star Wars universe
- 19:43Speaker 2: is we're talking to the Skywalkers. We like, this is
- 19:48Speaker 2: a whole, entire universe, a galaxy, Like it's a galaxy
- 19:53Speaker 2: far far away. Why are we following one family? Like
- 19:56Speaker 2: you know, which is why we love The High Republic
- 20:01Speaker 2: so much, is because it follows a whole new group
- 20:03Speaker 2: of heroes. Granted, we still follow like a certain amount
- 20:10Speaker 2: of people, the same amount of people. But the really
- 20:13Speaker 2: fun thing is when you look at the comics, when
- 20:15Speaker 2: you look at the manga, when you look at the
- 20:18Speaker 2: audiobooks and the novels themselves, these groups of individuals are
- 20:25Speaker 2: all in different parts of the galaxy yep, and they
- 20:29Speaker 2: have a chain reaction to each other rather than hey,
- 20:34Speaker 2: we're gonna streamline this one family that just steam rolls
- 20:37Speaker 2: through every little conflict to find a resolution. So yeah,
- 20:44Speaker 2: that's my thing. I think if if, and this is
- 20:49Speaker 2: a big if, George Lucas were to do anything with
- 20:55Speaker 2: Star Wars currently, it would be one time directing deal
- 21:02Speaker 2: for a TV show, one episode at the at the minimum,
- 21:07Speaker 2: that's what he would do.
- 21:09Speaker 3: I could see that like maybe fiftieth anniversary of a
- 21:13Speaker 3: New Hope, like that's like what four years? I think, Yeah,
- 21:19Speaker 3: potentially I could also see like him like maybe co
- 21:26Speaker 3: directing with Mangold on like the first Jedi like and
- 21:31Speaker 3: like helping with that one a lot. But I don't
- 21:35Speaker 3: want him to come back. He gave it up for
- 21:38Speaker 3: a reason.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Yeah, And also I don't think he'll come back because
- 21:44Speaker 2: of the amount of money he got from.
- 21:45Speaker 3: That, and ultimately he's still gonna have to go through
- 21:50Speaker 3: Kathleen Kennedy if he wanted. Now, I'm sure Kathleen Kennedy
- 21:53Speaker 3: would be like, do whatever the fuck you want, George,
- 21:57Speaker 3: but it's still gonna have to go through today's society people.
- 22:01Speaker 3: So yeah, I just don't think he wants to do that.
- 22:04Speaker 3: I think he's going to be content with his role,
- 22:07Speaker 3: which is occasional quotes about actors that he worked with.
- 22:12Speaker 2: So yep, one hundred percent. Now let's go ahead and
- 22:21Speaker 2: jump to our main topics, of course, that being Skeleton
- 22:27Speaker 2: are a main topic. Skeleton episodes five and six. Episode
- 22:33Speaker 2: five is of course titled you have a Lot to
- 22:36Speaker 2: Learn about Pirates.
- 22:38Speaker 4: We're gonna go into our second ad break and we'll
- 22:42Speaker 4: be right back.
- 22:44Speaker 2: This is the one that came out on Christmas or
- 22:49Speaker 2: Christmas Eve? Should I say right? Oh, yes, yes, Christmas Eve? Katie,
- 23:01Speaker 2: What do you think.
- 23:01Speaker 3: I had a blast with this episode? Like Jake Schreier
- 23:07Speaker 3: is the one who's directing Thunderbolts, and literally I tweeted, okay,
- 23:10Speaker 3: I will go see Thunderbolts in theaters now, Like I'm
- 23:13Speaker 3: not planning on seeing Captain America for in theaters. I
- 23:16Speaker 3: just don't have the time as a new mom, like
- 23:19Speaker 3: to make plans to go see all the movies in theaters,
- 23:22Speaker 3: so like it has to be worth it, and I
- 23:26Speaker 3: had the trailer has or previous work or the trailer
- 23:29Speaker 3: has to convince me, and this convinced me. Like this
- 23:35Speaker 3: was an absolute blast. I had so much fun with this,
- 23:40Speaker 3: like the what's the base len Nupa where tach Rinnand
- 23:47Speaker 3: who is a famous pirate kept his base with all
- 23:51Speaker 3: his secret treasures and everything, And this I just I
- 23:57Speaker 3: can't say anything other than it was blast. I'm gonna
- 23:59Speaker 3: keep repeating that.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Well one thing. One thing I will say is last
- 24:03Speaker 2: episode with Adrian. Adrian couldn't join us today. He is,
- 24:07Speaker 2: of course, on the West coast currently. It is just
- 24:12Speaker 2: now seven am at the record. We started recording when
- 24:17Speaker 2: it was only six thirty am, so a little early
- 24:21Speaker 2: for him. So last episode I said that this has
- 24:27Speaker 2: a lot a lot of things connected to Treasure Planet,
- 24:35Speaker 2: like a lot of story beats, a lot of that stuff.
- 24:38Speaker 2: This is Treasure Planet. There's a moment in that movie,
- 24:47Speaker 2: just like an episode five, when there is a projection
- 24:53Speaker 2: like hologram of the last words of this famous pirate.
- 25:00Speaker 2: The same thing happens in Treasure Planet, like and I
- 25:05Speaker 2: I love the room full of treasure that they finally find,
- 25:10Speaker 2: right yea, so fun. How to get there? How they
- 25:17Speaker 2: get there is also really silly, really fun. One thing
- 25:24Speaker 2: that I think a lot of people need to remember
- 25:27Speaker 2: about this show is that, of course Star Wars is
- 25:32Speaker 2: for kids, but the these this group is full of kids.
- 25:36Speaker 2: So when they get on this uh, on this planet,
- 25:42Speaker 2: it is a resort, it is a hotel, and there's
- 25:48Speaker 2: no get when they get into their room. Oh when
- 25:53Speaker 2: when they said no kids aloud? And uh, Jude Law's
- 25:57Speaker 2: character is just like I have an idea and they
- 26:00Speaker 2: all come down from the little thing that comes down
- 26:02Speaker 2: and they're all just wrapped up and literally speaking gibberish.
- 26:08Speaker 2: That was hilarious. But they get into the room and
- 26:13Speaker 2: they all start to freak out. They like are like
- 26:16Speaker 2: pillow fighting and like jumping on the bed. And of
- 26:21Speaker 2: course this is the immediately after Uh, Jod, I'll start
- 26:26Speaker 2: I'll stop calling him Jude Law. But Jod was threatened
- 26:31Speaker 2: basically by a pirate, uh, which we will bring up
- 26:39Speaker 2: the fact that people are now making assumptions on this
- 26:43Speaker 2: character's species. Uh poke poke it pocket. I believe her
- 26:50Speaker 2: Pocket is her name. Uh and uh star Wars Holocron
- 26:55Speaker 2: on Twitter says looks somewhat like Korea a ka Darth
- 27:02Speaker 2: Treya from Knights of the Old Republic.
- 27:04Speaker 3: Uh.
- 27:05Speaker 2: It also possible that Pocket is of the cage species
- 27:10Speaker 2: like Barrage Uh Sylvian in the High Republic. I thought
- 27:15Speaker 2: that was very very cool. Uh yes, so I thought
- 27:25Speaker 2: that was very very fun. Uh. That actor is also
- 27:31Speaker 2: uh yeah, she she plays in in Brave, which I
- 27:37Speaker 2: think is is very very cool. But she threatened. It's like, hey,
- 27:45Speaker 2: she called him by another name. There is yet another
- 27:50Speaker 2: name to his long list of names. I believe she
- 27:54Speaker 2: called him dash Zenten is another alien of jobs. And
- 28:03Speaker 2: so he's freaking out now, like there's gonna be a
- 28:05Speaker 2: lot of.
- 28:06Speaker 3: Oh I'm gonna enjoy this adults. Only you guys are
- 28:10Speaker 3: gonna be stuck here, like in the room. And then
- 28:14Speaker 3: he sees herds, like, oh crap, we gotta go.
- 28:18Speaker 2: He says, there's gonna be a lot of pirates that
- 28:19Speaker 2: are coming here to kill us. We have to hurry.
- 28:23Speaker 2: So they break off into groups and are trying to
- 28:28Speaker 2: find an entrance into this secret room that Snee was
- 28:34Speaker 2: talking about. Of course he explains that, Hey, they're in
- 28:40Speaker 2: what they call the mud Spa, which we saw. We
- 28:46Speaker 2: saw some you know, very interesting cameos or surprise species
- 28:51Speaker 2: in the spas as well. We saw a hut in there,
- 28:59Speaker 2: and we all so saw the a month and there
- 29:05Speaker 2: as well.
- 29:06Speaker 3: Yes, because they the crew for the Lenupa Resort reveals
- 29:14Speaker 3: that the banking clan is here, so that's why you
- 29:17Speaker 3: have all the months, because the banking clan is full
- 29:20Speaker 3: of months. But then we had a call out to
- 29:25Speaker 3: a specific planet and that it really has only been
- 29:27Speaker 3: featured in the Clone Wars is Skippyo Because John says, Okay,
- 29:34Speaker 3: what's the reservation that you have available and she says,
- 29:37Speaker 3: oh so your professor Gorlock, so Skippio. Yeah, And that
- 29:43Speaker 3: was interesting. I just find that like maybe because like
- 29:47Speaker 3: they're looking for an over public mint and so like
- 29:51Speaker 3: credits banking clan like et cetera. But I just that
- 29:56Speaker 3: was so interesting to me to pick that planet of
- 29:59Speaker 3: all places.
- 30:00Speaker 2: I thought it was very very fun. There was some
- 30:06Speaker 2: things to catch as well. Jod spots some carvings onto
- 30:13Speaker 2: the wall of the mud spas we have now seen
- 30:19Speaker 2: that that is actually an ancient Sith language, which you
- 30:26Speaker 2: know just and I know they just skipped right over it.
- 30:29Speaker 2: It has nothing to do with the actual story, but
- 30:32Speaker 2: it's like it's like that's that's that's gotta be there
- 30:35Speaker 2: for something. But they end up finding this room, and
- 30:41Speaker 2: I love the way they do it because they have
- 30:42Speaker 2: to go into like basically the sewage. But then they
- 30:48Speaker 2: see this pool and before they walk into it, Jod
- 30:53Speaker 2: just like throws something in there and it's acid. It's like,
- 30:57Speaker 2: oh crap, how do we fix this?
- 31:00Speaker 3: Uh?
- 31:01Speaker 2: And it's like, oh, the greatest sacrifice, Oh one of
- 31:05Speaker 2: us has to die. He's like no, no, no, no, this
- 31:08Speaker 2: is pirates. What is the greatest sacrifice for pirates? It's like, oh,
- 31:12Speaker 2: treasure and he throws the credit in there and it
- 31:15Speaker 2: drains all the acid. I thought that was very fun,
- 31:18Speaker 2: very clever, Yes.
- 31:20Speaker 3: Very clever, because it was like, oh, like, are somebody
- 31:23Speaker 3: actually gonna have to die? Like is this where me
- 31:26Speaker 3: bites the bullet? Like well like.
- 31:28Speaker 2: And and we'll talk about this more in episode six,
- 31:31Speaker 2: but like I was wondering, is there ever a world
- 31:37Speaker 2: where one of these kids does not make it out
- 31:41Speaker 2: of this show?
- 31:42Speaker 3: No? You would think right, especially after episode six.
- 31:50Speaker 2: I think after episode six is definitely giving us an
- 31:53Speaker 2: answer of no. But during episode six I was definitely
- 31:58Speaker 2: asking the question, Holy shit, is Bryce Dallas Howard really
- 32:02Speaker 2: gonna kill one of his kids? So, uh, they get
- 32:08Speaker 2: into this room, they see all the treasure and also
- 32:12Speaker 2: a little reminiscent of that of Aladdin. John says, don't
- 32:17Speaker 2: touch anything and national treasure.
- 32:21Speaker 3: I just have to point out.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Yes, treasure, don't touch anything. Find the one thing that
- 32:29Speaker 2: feels out of place, and that's gonna be where this
- 32:33Speaker 2: data port is. They're trying to find a data port
- 32:35Speaker 2: in order to find the actual coordinates. Of course at
- 32:42Speaker 2: At and Neil is the one that finds the out
- 32:47Speaker 2: of place.
- 32:49Speaker 3: The roast.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Yeah, the roast. Everything was rotten except for this one roast,
- 32:56Speaker 2: and they flipped it. The data port was there, and
- 33:02Speaker 2: so they get to hear the recording, they see the coordinates,
- 33:06Speaker 2: Smeed downloads them, and then of course Jod does so
- 33:13Speaker 2: a lot.
- 33:13Speaker 3: Of people have wondered because tack Rennedd's face was hidden
- 33:19Speaker 3: in the hologram.
- 33:21Speaker 2: Yes, yes, so some.
- 33:23Speaker 3: People are like, oh is it neal species. A lot
- 33:28Speaker 3: of people have also suggested, like a week way, because
- 33:33Speaker 3: that's what the skull is in the room. Apparently, I
- 33:36Speaker 3: don't study the skulls of the Star Wars, just theories.
- 33:42Speaker 3: And then some people have also said that we may
- 33:47Speaker 3: find tac rend actually as the supervisor and he's the
- 33:52Speaker 3: one who changed up the rules on Aten and like
- 33:57Speaker 3: instigated the security droids because he doesn't trust anybody androids
- 34:02Speaker 3: or Okay.
- 34:02Speaker 2: But here's here's the question though, because I was as.
- 34:06Speaker 3: Long as the old species leave.
- 34:08Speaker 2: Limp Oh, that's true, because well my question was going
- 34:12Speaker 2: to be how old is Tath supposed to be?
- 34:16Speaker 3: Yeah, and we don't know that. We know he's a legend,
- 34:22Speaker 3: that's about it.
- 34:23Speaker 2: I think that would be very fun to know that
- 34:27Speaker 2: he like was a pirate found at Aten and the
- 34:34Speaker 2: only way to keep it all to himself was to
- 34:39Speaker 2: take over take over an entire planet. That would be insane.
- 34:46Speaker 3: And that would explain why the ship was buried. Mm hmmm,
- 34:50Speaker 3: because people have been like, oh, well, it may be
- 34:54Speaker 3: like hundreds of years old, because otherwise how would it
- 34:56Speaker 3: be buried? But why would it be buried if people
- 34:59Speaker 3: knew the was there? So but if tac rennand took
- 35:04Speaker 3: over m he could have chosen to bury it and
- 35:08Speaker 3: instantiate the the barrier so that way nobody could leave
- 35:13Speaker 3: and he had all the money to himself. Yeah, I
- 35:18Speaker 3: think that's a theory.
- 35:20Speaker 2: It's it's a fun theory. I do think there is
- 35:22Speaker 2: a minor flaw in the idea of like, why are
- 35:25Speaker 2: all these other planets hidden? You know?
- 35:29Speaker 3: Well, I mean I think they were all hidden, right,
- 35:32Speaker 3: But he because it's the greatest part of the pirates code, right,
- 35:38Speaker 3: you protect your treasure. So the barrier was how he
- 35:41Speaker 3: hit his treasure to make sure that nobody could leave
- 35:44Speaker 3: and take the treasure away from him. So everything was hidden, yes,
- 35:49Speaker 3: because it was supposed to be from the Old Republic,
- 35:53Speaker 3: but he hid at at more because he wanted the
- 35:58Speaker 3: treasure hoard.
- 36:02Speaker 2: Yeah. I can see that. I can see that. Uh.
- 36:09Speaker 2: But this leads us to the very much anticipated change
- 36:19Speaker 2: of job. He, of course, backstand not a good guy.
- 36:25Speaker 2: He's not a good guy, but I think deep down
- 36:29Speaker 2: he is.
- 36:30Speaker 3: That's the thing he will have that there.
- 36:33Speaker 2: There there will be a moment in the finale where
- 36:36Speaker 2: he saves the kids, where he helps them inevitably, but
- 36:41Speaker 2: for now he turns his back on them. He challenges
- 36:46Speaker 2: firm for the title of captain and of course.
- 36:51Speaker 3: To person it to the pirate's code.
- 36:55Speaker 2: Basically just to get same off of his back. That
- 36:59Speaker 2: is legitimate, the only reason why. And here comes Whim
- 37:05Speaker 2: to the rescue.
- 37:07Speaker 3: He sees the lights.
- 37:10Speaker 2: This was so cool. I saw when the moment he
- 37:13Speaker 2: saw the lightsaber. I was like, I know this is
- 37:15Speaker 2: going to come into effect. This is going to make
- 37:17Speaker 2: this is going to come into play by the end
- 37:19Speaker 2: of the episode. And he grabs it, and Katie, I thought,
- 37:27Speaker 2: as soon as you because you you The way they
- 37:31Speaker 2: framed it is that you only see up to the
- 37:35Speaker 2: very top of his chest, and then they zoom out
- 37:38Speaker 2: to see him holding the lightsaber, and before he turned
- 37:43Speaker 2: it on, I said, man, wouldn't that be funny if
- 37:47Speaker 2: he was holding it the wrong way? And then he
- 37:48Speaker 2: turned it on and it hit his like right between
- 37:51Speaker 2: his legs. I was like, that's hilarious.
- 37:55Speaker 3: I love it.
- 37:56Speaker 2: It's so good. It's so funny because it takes a
- 38:01Speaker 2: very serious moment and turns it a little whimsical and
- 38:06Speaker 2: child like because it has no idea what he's doing.
- 38:10Speaker 3: Yep.
- 38:11Speaker 2: And I'm sorry if if if Wyn picked up a
- 38:15Speaker 2: lightsaber and then started to like wield it like a Jedi.
- 38:18Speaker 2: Very first time he grabbed it, like I'm sorry. That
- 38:20Speaker 2: would have taken me out of it. That would have
- 38:22Speaker 2: been like, hey, this is a little too much. What
- 38:25Speaker 2: is going on, the fact that he didn't know what
- 38:28Speaker 2: he was doing, the fact that the lightsaber hit in
- 38:32Speaker 2: between his legs he freaked out dropped it. That made
- 38:38Speaker 2: the scene so much better.
- 38:41Speaker 3: And it goes back to what Watts and Ford were
- 38:44Speaker 3: saying about how they make the wrong sounds for the
- 38:48Speaker 3: lightsabers because they never actually seen a lightsaber, Like they
- 38:52Speaker 3: don't know what a lightsaber looks like. So like Whims
- 38:56Speaker 3: is like the prop that he was holding that he
- 38:58Speaker 3: had created himself looked jenky. I'm the solely word I
- 39:03Speaker 3: could think of because he had no idea, He's only
- 39:06Speaker 3: seen it in his storybook. Yeah, and like Neil wasn't
- 39:09Speaker 3: even holding anything, like he was just using his imagination
- 39:13Speaker 3: and so like it totally goes back to that, and
- 39:16Speaker 3: I love it. It's like it's perfect.
- 39:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought this was brilliant. It's absolutely hilarious. And
- 39:27Speaker 2: so Jod calls me on to the kids to you know,
- 39:31Speaker 2: get rid of them, and.
- 39:33Speaker 3: He doesn't actually say get rid of them. I went
- 39:36Speaker 3: back and watched this. He says, he says, take them prisoner.
- 39:39Speaker 2: Yeah, he takes He says, take them prisoner, which I
- 39:41Speaker 2: thought was actually very interesting as well. It shows a
- 39:45Speaker 2: little bit of the compassion that he's grown to have
- 39:49Speaker 2: for these kids for yet. But of course these are kids.
- 39:54Speaker 2: They're terrified. A big scary adult is you know, ordering
- 39:59Speaker 2: the the droid that they were in control of, just
- 40:03Speaker 2: you know, seconds earlier to capture them. They're gonna freak out.
- 40:07Speaker 2: Whim hits the trap door and they fall and that's
- 40:12Speaker 2: the end of the episode.
- 40:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 40:15Speaker 2: I really enjoyed this episode. I am on board with
- 40:18Speaker 2: what Katie is saying. I think I am ready for
- 40:21Speaker 2: Thunderbolts as well with the cinematography, with the direction of
- 40:28Speaker 2: this episode, I feel like it had just the amount
- 40:32Speaker 2: the right amount of humor and I loved the colors
- 40:38Speaker 2: of this episode as well.
- 40:41Speaker 3: In this episode, it was flawless. I have no issues
- 40:44Speaker 3: with it is literally a perfect episode. Probably one of
- 40:47Speaker 3: my top five episodes of Star Wars. Like I'm not
- 40:50Speaker 3: even joking.
- 40:52Speaker 2: Now. Famously, every single episode Ellis Howard has directed has
- 41:03Speaker 2: been one of our favorite episodes.
- 41:06Speaker 3: Yes, I do before we move on to episode six.
- 41:10Speaker 3: I do have to say this, and I'm gonna butcher
- 41:12Speaker 3: this name, but young Joe Wessner wrote episodes five and six.
- 41:18Speaker 3: They need to write more episodes.
- 41:21Speaker 2: They did a excellent job on like both.
- 41:25Speaker 3: Episodes, fantastic writing, like the dialogue was perfect, like no notes,
- 41:31Speaker 3: like they need to come back to Star Wars yep.
- 41:35Speaker 2: I one hundred percent agree, Bryce Dallas Howard. I still
- 41:40Speaker 2: believe needs to get a movie from Star Wars.
- 41:47Speaker 3: If this episode doesn't give her that.
- 41:50Speaker 2: I will I will see this. I will say this.
- 41:52Speaker 2: There is a large difference in recording television and TV.
- 41:58Speaker 3: Yes, but give her a series then.
- 42:00Speaker 2: If that's the issue, I would say, give her a series.
- 42:04Speaker 2: One hundred percent give her a series. We know that
- 42:06Speaker 2: she can do it. As far as the episodic tone,
- 42:10Speaker 2: do it, give her a series. Now that being said,
- 42:16Speaker 2: episode six and well, I will say this about episode
- 42:20Speaker 2: five as well. As soon as I finished episode five,
- 42:23Speaker 2: I told the guh Chat, I have finished the Skeleton Crew.
- 42:26Speaker 2: That felt like a fifteen minute episode because I was
- 42:30Speaker 2: having so much fun and it just flew by. Yeah,
- 42:33Speaker 2: this episode was kind of the same. It felt very short,
- 42:39Speaker 2: but I loved it. I really enjoyed this episode as well.
- 42:43Speaker 3: I like, I don't know what you would add more
- 42:48Speaker 3: to especially episode six. Oh like maybe episode five could
- 42:52Speaker 3: we use some more time, But I don't know what
- 42:55Speaker 3: you add to episode six to lengthen that episode brace
- 43:00Speaker 3: kill it Like she focused on each kid individually, like
- 43:04Speaker 3: learning some fears. But this was like a KB focused episode,
- 43:07Speaker 3: which I love because everybody's kind of been wondering, Okay,
- 43:10Speaker 3: what is her implance for Like Nott was even like oh,
- 43:13Speaker 3: she's an android, Like she's one hundred percent of android.
- 43:16Speaker 3: So getting to learn a little bit about why she
- 43:19Speaker 3: has the optical advisor that she has was very interesting.
- 43:27Speaker 3: And yeah, I like, I don't I don't think you
- 43:32Speaker 3: go more into that accident at that point, because again,
- 43:34Speaker 3: Whim's trying to save her life. KB is trying to
- 43:37Speaker 3: not die at this point.
- 43:39Speaker 2: Like yeah, but if I had to choose a direction
- 43:44Speaker 2: to go to make the episode longer, I think I
- 43:49Speaker 2: would have focused maybe a little bit more on for
- 43:57Speaker 2: learning the lesson that she did, because yeah, she learned
- 44:01Speaker 2: the lesson, but it was very quick. It was just
- 44:03Speaker 2: like Neil said something and she had a light bulb
- 44:07Speaker 2: moment of like, oh, wait a second, okay, and then
- 44:11Speaker 2: she learned her lesson. Yep with this though.
- 44:15Speaker 4: And we're about to jump into our third ad. Y'all,
- 44:19Speaker 4: we promise we'll be right back, we promise.
- 44:22Speaker 2: We see them escaping that treasure room, they fall into
- 44:28Speaker 2: this beach of nothing but trash from the planet, and
- 44:34Speaker 2: now they're trying to decide, Hey, how do we get
- 44:37Speaker 2: back to our ship. Fern has one idea, Wim has another,
- 44:42Speaker 2: and of course, Fern, being the very how do I
- 44:49Speaker 2: say this lightly, because she's a child, stubborn, stubborn, strong
- 44:55Speaker 2: minded individual that she is, believes, hey, I was once captain,
- 45:01Speaker 2: so I get to make the rules. And so she says,
- 45:05Speaker 2: we're going to do this, and she even goes to
- 45:07Speaker 2: KB and says, hey, Wim is going to disagree with me,
- 45:11Speaker 2: but you need to be on my side because of this,
- 45:13Speaker 2: this and this, and Kb's like nah, And KB has
- 45:21Speaker 2: legitimate reason not to agree with Fern, but she doesn't
- 45:25Speaker 2: voice it. And we learned that later that due to
- 45:30Speaker 2: an accident prior to the start of the series, her
- 45:36Speaker 2: augmentation prevents her from doing certain things. In this instance,
- 45:43Speaker 2: due to the wetness and coldness of the atmosphere, her
- 45:54Speaker 2: her augmentations are corroding there. It's basically dying and we
- 46:02Speaker 2: have a little fun moment, and I say fun, but
- 46:04Speaker 2: it's a very intense moment for Wim trying to save
- 46:10Speaker 2: Kv's life.
- 46:11Speaker 3: And he didn't know it at the time, Like she
- 46:13Speaker 3: doesn't tell him, oh, yeah, I was about to die.
- 46:16Speaker 3: I bet you thought saving somebody's life would be more intense.
- 46:21Speaker 3: She does it off.
- 46:23Speaker 2: Yeah, it's very very subtle, but I genuinely love because
- 46:29Speaker 2: it's such a lighthearted moment because she says anyway, thanks
- 46:36Speaker 2: Jedi and walks away, and Whim gets from this like
- 46:42Speaker 2: like he is in shock because his new friend almost died.
- 46:48Speaker 2: But then he lights up. You can see it in
- 46:52Speaker 2: his face the moment he registers what she just called him,
- 46:56Speaker 2: and he just gets up and he's like, Okay, let's
- 46:59Speaker 2: keep going. It's the one thing that he wants to be.
- 47:02Speaker 2: It's the one thing that he wants to do. He
- 47:04Speaker 2: wants to of course, save lives. He wants to be
- 47:07Speaker 2: quote unquote important. And I think that, you know, as
- 47:13Speaker 2: a coming of age story, we always get these types
- 47:15Speaker 2: of heroes that wants that for themselves, but you never
- 47:19Speaker 2: really expect it in the smallest ways that you do
- 47:21Speaker 2: get it. And so for this moment again, like she said, oh,
- 47:26Speaker 2: you probably thought saving somebody's life would be a little
- 47:29Speaker 2: bit more intense, and all this stuff, something so minor
- 47:34Speaker 2: can still very be very big in the aspect of,
- 47:37Speaker 2: you know, of course, saving a life. Their idea is
- 47:44Speaker 2: to follow these crabs, which I love. I've watched this
- 47:51Speaker 2: with subtitles just because Abby has subtitles on everything, and
- 47:57Speaker 2: they're mimicking everything that women kb say. But when they
- 48:02Speaker 2: when they do it in the beginning, it says trash
- 48:05Speaker 2: crab and I just laughed. I don't know why.
- 48:07Speaker 3: I just laughed because we were so nervous that mar
- 48:11Speaker 3: was gonna wake up because she was fighting sleep the
- 48:14Speaker 3: whole time. So we had it on like volume seven,
- 48:18Speaker 3: and so we watched it with sometimes. So I actually
- 48:21Speaker 3: meant to watch it this morning, like full volume and
- 48:24Speaker 3: just totally forgot.
- 48:28Speaker 2: There was the trash crabs that were mimicking everything that
- 48:31Speaker 2: they were saying, and then Fern was wanting to climb
- 48:36Speaker 2: the wall in order to get to the ship the quickest, yep.
- 48:42Speaker 2: And the reason why they wanted to follow these trash
- 48:45Speaker 2: crabs were they're like, Okay, they're sentient, they know how
- 48:49Speaker 2: to get a hold of somebody for them to help us.
- 48:53Speaker 2: And so Fern is like, you know what, fine, you
- 48:56Speaker 2: don't have to follow me, Neil, Let's go, And Neil's like, yeah,
- 49:00Speaker 2: you know, splitting up into two groups is probably the best. Well,
- 49:06Speaker 2: well we'll meet you there. You know, I love Neil,
- 49:09Speaker 2: poor guy. He is just getting dragged every direction, even
- 49:15Speaker 2: when you know, spoiler alert, they get into the ship.
- 49:18Speaker 2: But like even when they're in the ship, they're like, oh, Neil,
- 49:22Speaker 2: you know how to fly this thing. You've done it before.
- 49:24Speaker 2: And he's like, wait, what what yea, guys, I'm still
- 49:27Speaker 2: a child. I don't know what. But they they Fern
- 49:32Speaker 2: and Neil start climbing, and Neil gets to this point
- 49:37Speaker 2: of like, hey, like I can't do this as as
- 49:44Speaker 2: like you can, because I don't have spider like arms
- 49:47Speaker 2: and legs like you, like, you can't. You can't expect
- 49:51Speaker 2: everybody to do what you can. And that's what gets
- 49:54Speaker 2: this light bulb moment in Fern like, oh, like I
- 49:59Speaker 2: a your stand that not everybody is me. So we
- 50:03Speaker 2: see this moment where she grabs this rope, ties it
- 50:07Speaker 2: around Neil, and they collectively take one step at a
- 50:12Speaker 2: time to go up and up and up, and then
- 50:15Speaker 2: they notice these larger trash uh conveyors drones. If anybody
- 50:25Speaker 2: has played the oh shoot, what's the Star Wars game
- 50:32Speaker 2: uh Survivor Jedi Survivor, in the very beginning of that
- 50:41Speaker 2: first game, he is working at a at a trash planet.
- 50:47Speaker 2: Trash planet, and you see those as well. That's the
- 50:49Speaker 2: first thing that I recognized it from. So uh you
- 50:55Speaker 2: see four of those grabbing the ship, and Fern is like, okay,
- 51:00Speaker 2: I have an idea, and the idea is jumping on
- 51:03Speaker 2: the ship. That was I was surprised that they actually
- 51:08Speaker 2: did it. I thought Neil was gonna have one of
- 51:10Speaker 2: those moments again like hey, not everybody can do the
- 51:13Speaker 2: things that you do. But of course, like this was
- 51:16Speaker 2: a little bit more dire. They were in need of
- 51:17Speaker 2: the ship, so they actually jumped on it, and I
- 51:20Speaker 2: thought that was pretty fun. Katie, what did you feel
- 51:25Speaker 2: about the inevitable interaction with the crabs for Kabie and
- 51:32Speaker 2: whim I died.
- 51:34Speaker 3: But it also feels like Star Wars has liked to
- 51:37Speaker 3: do this where they have like the baby monster and
- 51:40Speaker 3: then they have the big Mama monster is just like
- 51:44Speaker 3: really and then Matt starts doing like a little and
- 51:48Speaker 3: I'm like, stop it, stop it right now. But I
- 51:52Speaker 3: saw this. They apparently did the mom trash crab with
- 51:56Speaker 3: stop motion, and I wore that from I said it
- 52:00Speaker 3: in the group chat, but like they stop motioned the
- 52:06Speaker 3: entire crap. And that's intense because I thought this scene
- 52:18Speaker 3: looked really good and like I didn't like, this is
- 52:24Speaker 3: probably the best thing that was shot on the volume
- 52:27Speaker 3: because you can tell it is the volume with like
- 52:30Speaker 3: the circle motion that was made with the ship, but like,
- 52:34Speaker 3: is the best thing that was shot in that process?
- 52:38Speaker 3: Like it looks really good.
- 52:41Speaker 2: I want to apologize. Apparently my dog is going crazy
- 52:44Speaker 2: in the background. Anybody hear it, But I apologize, No,
- 52:48Speaker 2: I really I'm watching the video now. That is so intense.
- 52:53Speaker 2: I thought it was just CGI. I thought it was
- 52:55Speaker 2: all CGI, but this is stop motion. I want to
- 53:01Speaker 2: see how they did. I'm sure that the actual crabs
- 53:04Speaker 2: were like remote control or something, but that looks awesome.
- 53:10Speaker 2: I thought that this sequence was very fun. I love
- 53:13Speaker 2: the like the little moment that Wem has. It's like,
- 53:17Speaker 2: why do I always think the good guy or why do.
- 53:20Speaker 2: I always think the bad guys are good guys. It's
- 53:24Speaker 2: like poor kid. But this is when they see Fern
- 53:29Speaker 2: and Neil. They are swooping down and like, I love
- 53:33Speaker 2: how Fern has this moment of like trying to control
- 53:36Speaker 2: the trash drone and she like picks them up and
- 53:42Speaker 2: like she doesn't even look to see if they're on
- 53:44Speaker 2: the ship. She just screams out, please tell me I
- 53:46Speaker 2: got them, Please tell me I got them. And then
- 53:49Speaker 2: they crash because of course this giant crab throws debris
- 53:55Speaker 2: at them and they fall, they crash, and you knew
- 54:03Speaker 2: that what was going to happen was going to come
- 54:05Speaker 2: into play because the one thing that I don't necessarily
- 54:08Speaker 2: love about episodic television is the recaps usually show you
- 54:13Speaker 2: something that's going to be very important into the actual episode,
- 54:17Speaker 2: which I kind of wish they would have just like
- 54:19Speaker 2: left out so that way people would have this aha moment, like,
- 54:23Speaker 2: oh crap, yeah, there's this moment skip to that you
- 54:28Speaker 2: can you can't, but like I I probably should start
- 54:34Speaker 2: skipping the the recaps.
- 54:37Speaker 3: Most of the time, that's when like Matt and I
- 54:39Speaker 3: are like brushing our teeth. So I'm just gonna let
- 54:41Speaker 3: it because we also had the ad version of Disney Plus,
- 54:44Speaker 3: so like it has that ads like three minutes afterwards.
- 54:48Speaker 2: So yeah, so with with that, they get into the
- 54:54Speaker 2: ship and they're like, okay, we need we need to
- 54:57Speaker 2: save our ship because you see this other job thing
- 55:01Speaker 2: this common it's like a.
- 55:01Speaker 3: Big trash melter compactory thing.
- 55:04Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's and it's really cool because it has
- 55:08Speaker 2: like these like fingers that are like helping it crawl
- 55:11Speaker 2: across the floor, but it's those those fingers are actually
- 55:16Speaker 2: helping it scoop in all of the trash as well.
- 55:19Speaker 2: So while it's doing that, it's clearly going to beginning
- 55:22Speaker 2: to the ship. They run inside the ship, they try
- 55:25Speaker 2: to get it running. Nothing is really helping they They
- 55:29Speaker 2: finally get enough power to like somewhat get off of
- 55:33Speaker 2: the ground, but by this point the compactor has already
- 55:37Speaker 2: got the nose of the ship and so it's only
- 55:40Speaker 2: kind of flying with its butt in the air. And
- 55:44Speaker 2: for it's like, oh wait, but there's this and of
- 55:46Speaker 2: course it is the one button that SMEE said to
- 55:50Speaker 2: never push that button, press this button. And it was
- 55:57Speaker 2: very interesting because for a split second there was a
- 56:00Speaker 2: moment that I had where it was like, is Fern
- 56:03Speaker 2: gonna have one of these moments of like, oh, I
- 56:07Speaker 2: haven't listened to my friends this entire time, and it
- 56:13Speaker 2: has gotten them to kind of resent me. Should I
- 56:17Speaker 2: not press this button and we abandon ship? Like that's
- 56:20Speaker 2: what I honestly thought was gonna happen at first, But
- 56:24Speaker 2: then of course she presses the button. It releases all
- 56:28Speaker 2: of these valves and they shed the skin of the ship.
- 56:35Speaker 2: I love the fact that this ship is quite possibly
- 56:40Speaker 2: because again we do not know how old this ship is,
- 56:44Speaker 2: because we do not know how old the pirate is
- 56:47Speaker 2: or how much of a legend he is depending on
- 56:49Speaker 2: like the eras of time, we don't know how old
- 56:53Speaker 2: the ship is. But the moment that skin sheds off
- 56:57Speaker 2: that ship, it is a slick, clean chrome.
- 57:05Speaker 3: It looks kind of like pad maship almost it does.
- 57:13Speaker 3: It still has the engines that go up and down
- 57:15Speaker 3: like Horizonal And.
- 57:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I love the design of this ship. I would
- 57:23Speaker 2: not mind having a model of this ship. I think
- 57:25Speaker 2: it looks very, very fun.
- 57:27Speaker 3: And I love that it's like a new feature for
- 57:30Speaker 3: Star Warsh, like I've never seen something like that ever,
- 57:36Speaker 3: and like it shed two full engines yeah, and the
- 57:43Speaker 3: outer hole. So it'll be interesting because I'm assuming the
- 57:49Speaker 3: last two episodes they're going on. Because the thing we
- 57:51Speaker 3: forgot to mention is that KB said she memorized the
- 57:54Speaker 3: ordinance for.
- 57:55Speaker 2: That, I think that the advisor. I think her advisor
- 57:58Speaker 2: helped her with that. Yeah. But also I think that
- 58:04Speaker 2: not only did they shed their engines, I think that
- 58:10Speaker 2: they also lost their weapons.
- 58:12Speaker 4: And this should be our final ad break. So y'all,
- 58:16Speaker 4: thanks for bearing with us. We appreciate y'all. We'll be
- 58:19Speaker 4: right back.
- 58:21Speaker 2: No, because Wim was in was in the top gun.
- 58:25Speaker 2: But if you noticed the front, the front weapons are gone,
- 58:32Speaker 2: and I believe that it had two as far because
- 58:40Speaker 2: there was the there is because I believe it was
- 58:43Speaker 2: both Fern and Whim when they first jumped into the weapons,
- 58:48Speaker 2: they both had separate guns. So I think, yes, there's
- 58:52Speaker 2: only one left and that was the one that Wim
- 58:55Speaker 2: was in this time.
- 58:57Speaker 3: So maybe maybe.
- 59:00Speaker 2: But what I'm saying is that this isn't going to
- 59:03Speaker 2: be a ship that is made for combat, so.
- 59:07Speaker 3: It's a ship made for escaping exactly.
- 59:10Speaker 2: So I think that this is going to be Although
- 59:13Speaker 2: we really love the design, I think this is a
- 59:16Speaker 2: one and done trip. I think they are going to
- 59:18Speaker 2: fly to at and and we're probably not going to
- 59:20Speaker 2: see the ship again unfortunately, But there is still two
- 59:27Speaker 2: episodes to go, believe we have.
- 59:30Speaker 3: Next week and then the week after.
- 59:32Speaker 2: Yeah, so I'm ready. I'm having a lot of fun
- 59:36Speaker 2: with it. One thing that we did forget to mention
- 59:41Speaker 2: with this episode, which I actually really did enjoy, was
- 59:46Speaker 2: John got captured by the pirates.
- 59:49Speaker 3: He came out of the whole covered in treasure, and so.
- 59:54Speaker 2: Does me Yeah, and they're like, I love that he
- 59:58Speaker 2: sees the people that are in charge of the resort.
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: He's like, hey, I'm so glad I saw you because like, hey,
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: like see all this it could be yours too, you know.
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: Yeah, And he's like he's already I'm ready to check
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: out refill my ship, but I'm ready to leave.
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: Yeah, he's already ready to buy his way out of
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: any trouble that he may have caused. Like he's already
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: ready to like leave. Of course, he gets captured, Smee
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: doesn't even have a chance to do anything. They immediately
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: uh stun him. And when they are on the ship,
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: they're like, okay, we're but we're we're gonna do death
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: by airlock. You're gone, see you later, And he kind
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: of gives these eyes to this random individual that is
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: sitting next to I keep forgetting Brutus. Is that his name?
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: Okay uh? And she's like, hey, whoa due to the
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: pirate code he has, he has last rites, he has,
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: you know, his last words. And they flip this like
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: hourglasses full of plasma.
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: I love that, by the way, you need.
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: I do love the addition of the plasma instead of
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: just like regular plainal hourglass stand and he starts to
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: talk up at at I. I love this, and I
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: know there's gonna be people freaking out. Oh no another song.
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: Star Wars is adding another song to the universe. Oh no,
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: people need to calm the hell down. I loved it.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: I love this because again, it just shows how manipulative
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: Jod is.
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: Yes, because he's only there.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: He's only there to save his own skin. And again
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: I despise him for turning his back on the kids.
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: I just love him as a consistent character like like
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: I I because I don't like in stories when characters
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: in like change their characteristics and their mindsets so dramatically,
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: just for the sake of the story. There needs to
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: be a reason for it, and for Jod, there has
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: been a reason for him to play along with every
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: little aspect that he plays along with, every interaction.
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: There is a reason to say of his own skin.
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: Yes, I love it. And for this he talks to
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: he he talks to individuals. It's like, hey, you know
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: how you wanted to save money for this, Well, what
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: if you never had to save again. What if you
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: could buy your own ocean? What if you could do this?
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: What if you could do that? He's like, I know
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: how to do it, because I know how to get
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: these and he pulls out the Old Republic credit It's
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: like I know where they make them. And that's when
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: Brutus was like, you know what, fine, we'll go to
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: ann we'll see your treasure and if it's not there,
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: you're going on a little trip. And he shoves his
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: face into like just to see what the airlock does
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: when it like, it releases. I love the visual. I
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: think it was a very nice touch. I I love
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: that entire scene because it shows that there's still people
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: loyal to Jod because that person didn't have to remind
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: Brutus of the last rights or last words of the Pirates.
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: So I love how these little things are just like
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: playing into place for Jod as well. And I think,
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: of course this will be a moment where uh, whether
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: it be a race to the supervisor or uh a
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: race within itself to at who do you think is
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: gonna write first?
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: I think probably the kids, and they're gonna be like
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: the warning shot, but they also might get dragged to
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: the supervisor and like banished because remember that's what the
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: security droid said. They've broken the laws by leaving the barrier, like,
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: so they that's probably the reason they get to the supervisor.
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: But then the last episode is going to be the
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: Pirates coming mm hmm, so it'd be interesting to see.
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: I'm excited.
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm very excited. I think this has been a
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: very very fun series so far. It has met and
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: exceeded expectations, and I think it's a very fun way
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: to start the new year. I think that this this
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: this finale will be very fun for Star Wars for sure.
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: But yeah, guys, this will be it for our review.
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: Of course, you can always find find me on Threads
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: and Blue Sky at fanboy Clay. Blue Sky is going
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: to be more directed towards my job more comics related
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: and stuff like that, whereas Threads, I'm gonna just be
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: you know, shooting the ship, you know, just with whatever.
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: That's probably where you will see me promoting the show
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: and my other podcast, of course, which is also on
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: the GUA Network, Ranger Alliance, which is coming back this month.
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: Very excited for the new direction that we are going
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: with that, and there's a lot of things in store
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: for that show as well, So if you would like
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: to follow me on that journey, please do. I think
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: it's gonna be a lot of fun. But we do
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: have some small things in store for you this year
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: for this show as well. That means Katie have talked
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: about and we will be able to share some of
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: that with you hopefully soon. But Katie, what about you, y'all?
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: You can find me on most social media platforms. It's
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: at place, So Katie, I am actually going to be
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: deleting every app for social media off my phone except
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: for Instagram because there's really no like website interface for Instagram.
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: But my goal has just spend more less time on
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: social media and more time in my day to day life.
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: So yeah, that's the plan. But if I'm on social
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: media and I see your message, I will get back
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: to you. I promise I always do this show. You
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: can find on the Twitter. It is at Star Wars
