Speaker 1: Chapter sixteen. Under arrest, as Carthoris, exodarm Tars, Tarkas and
0:06
Speaker 1: I stood gazing at the magnificent vessel, which meant so
0:08
Speaker 1: much to all of us. We saw second and then
0:11
Speaker 1: a third topped the summit of the hills and glide
0:13
Speaker 1: gracefully after their sister ny. A score of one man
0:17
Speaker 1: air scouts were launching from the upper decks of the
0:19
Speaker 1: nearer vessel, and in a moment more were speeding in
0:22
Speaker 1: long swift dives to the ground about us. In another instant,
0:26
Speaker 1: we were surrounded by armed sailors, and an officer had
0:29
Speaker 1: stepped forward to address us, when his eyes fell upon Carthoris.
0:33
Speaker 1: With an exclamation of surprised pleasure, he sprang forward, and,
0:37
Speaker 1: placing his hands upon the boy's shoulder, called him by name, Carthoris,
0:41
Speaker 1: my prince. He cried, kawor kaowor hor vastus greets, the
0:45
Speaker 1: son of dejah Thoris, Princess of Helium, and of her
0:48
Speaker 1: husband John Carter. Where have you been, o, my prince?
0:52
Speaker 1: All Helium has plunged in sorrow. Terrible have been the
0:56
Speaker 1: calamities that have befallen your great Grandsire's mighty nation since
0:59
Speaker 1: the fatal day that saw you leave our midst grieve
1:03
Speaker 1: not my good, hor Vastus, cried Carthoris, since I bring
1:06
Speaker 1: not back myself alone to cheer my mother's heart and
1:09
Speaker 1: the hearts of my beloved people, but also one whom
1:12
Speaker 1: all Barsoom loved best, her greatest warrior and her savior,
1:16
Speaker 1: John Carter, Prince of Helium. Hor Vastus turned in the
1:19
Speaker 1: direction indicated by Carthoris, and as his eyes fell upon me,
1:23
Speaker 1: he was like to have collapsed from sheer surprise, John Carter,
1:27
Speaker 1: he exclaimed, and then a sudden, troubled look came into
1:30
Speaker 1: his eyes. My prince, he started, where hast thou? And
1:33
Speaker 1: then he stopped. But I knew the question that his
1:36
Speaker 1: lips dared not frame. The loyal fellow would not be
1:39
Speaker 1: the one to force from mine a confession of the
1:41
Speaker 1: terrible truth that I had returned from the bosom of
1:44
Speaker 1: the Ish, the river of Mystery, back from the shore
1:47
Speaker 1: of the lost Sea of Chorus and the valley door. Ah,
1:50
Speaker 1: My Prince, he continued, as though no thought had interrupted
1:53
Speaker 1: his greeting, that you are back as sufficient, and let
1:56
Speaker 1: hor Vastus sword have the high honor of being first
1:59
Speaker 1: at thy feet. With these words, the noble fellow unbuckled
2:02
Speaker 1: his scabbard and flung his sword upon the ground before me.
2:06
Speaker 1: Could you know the customs and the character of red Martians,
2:09
Speaker 1: you would appreciate the depth of meaning that that simple
2:12
Speaker 1: act conveyed to me and to all about us who
2:14
Speaker 1: witnessed it. The thing was equivalent to saying, my sword,
2:18
Speaker 1: my body, my life, my soul, are yours to do
2:21
Speaker 1: with as you wish until death and after death. I
2:24
Speaker 1: looked you alone for authority for my every act. Be
2:28
Speaker 1: you right or wrong, your words shall be my only truth.
2:31
Speaker 1: Whoso raises his hand against you must answer to my sword.
2:35
Speaker 1: It is the oath of fealty that men occasionally pay
2:38
Speaker 1: to a Jeddak, whose high character and chivalrous acts have
2:41
Speaker 1: inspired the enthusiastic love of his followers. Never had I
2:45
Speaker 1: known this high tribute paid to a lesser mortal. There
2:48
Speaker 1: was but one response possible. I stooped and lifted the
2:51
Speaker 1: sword from the ground, raised the hilt to my lips,
2:54
Speaker 1: and then, stepping to whor's vastest, I buckled the weapon
2:57
Speaker 1: upon him with my own hands. Hor Vastus, I said,
3:01
Speaker 1: placing my hand upon his shoulder. You know best the
3:04
Speaker 1: promptings of your own heart, that I shall need your sword.
3:07
Speaker 1: I have little doubt but except from John Carter, upon
3:10
Speaker 1: his sacred honor, the assurance that he will never call
3:13
Speaker 1: upon you to draw the sword other than in the
3:15
Speaker 1: cause of truth, justice and righteousness. That I knew, my prince,
3:20
Speaker 1: he replied, erever, I threw my beloved blade at thy feet.
3:24
Speaker 1: As we spoke, other fliers came and went between the
3:27
Speaker 1: ground and the battleship, and presently a larger boat was
3:30
Speaker 1: launched from above, one capable of carrying a dozen persons perhaps,
3:35
Speaker 1: and dropped lightly near us. As she touched, an officer
3:38
Speaker 1: sprang from her deck to the ground, and, advancing to
3:41
Speaker 1: hor Vastis, saluted, kantos Kan desires that this party whom
3:45
Speaker 1: we have rescued, be brought immediately to the deck of
3:47
Speaker 1: the Exavarian, he said. As we approached the little craft,
3:51
Speaker 1: I looked about for the members of my party, and
3:53
Speaker 1: for the first time noticed that Thuvia was not among them.
3:57
Speaker 1: Questioning elicited the fact that none had seen her since
4:00
Speaker 1: Arthoris had sent her thoat galloping madly toward the hills
4:04
Speaker 1: in the hope of carrying her out of Harm's way. Immediately,
4:07
Speaker 1: hor Vassis despatched a dozen air scouts in as many
4:10
Speaker 1: directions to search for her. It could not be possible
4:13
Speaker 1: that she had gone far since we had last seen her.
4:17
Speaker 1: We others stepped to the deck of the craft that
4:19
Speaker 1: had been sent to fetch us, and a moment later
4:22
Speaker 1: we were upon the Exevarian. The first man to greet
4:25
Speaker 1: me was kantos Kan himself. My old friend had won
4:28
Speaker 1: to the highest place in the navy of Helium, but
4:30
Speaker 1: he was still to me the same brave comrade who
4:33
Speaker 1: had shared with me the privations of a warhoon Dungeon,
4:36
Speaker 1: the terrible atrocities of the Great Games, and later the
4:39
Speaker 1: dangers of our search for dejah Thoris within the hostile
4:43
Speaker 1: city of Zodanga. Then I had been an unknown wanderer
4:46
Speaker 1: upon a strange planet, and he a simple padwar in
4:49
Speaker 1: the navy of Helium. To day he commanded all Helium's
4:52
Speaker 1: great terrors of the skies, and I was a prince
4:55
Speaker 1: of the house of Tardos Mors Jeddak of Helium. He
4:59
Speaker 1: did not ask where I had been. Like hor Vastus,
5:02
Speaker 1: he too dreaded the truth and would not be the
5:04
Speaker 1: one to wrest a statement from me that it must
5:07
Speaker 1: come some time he well knew, But until it came,
5:10
Speaker 1: he seemed satisfied to but know that I was with
5:12
Speaker 1: him once more. He greeted Carthoris and tars Tarkas with
5:16
Speaker 1: the keenest delight, But he asked neither where he had been.
5:20
Speaker 1: He could scarcely keep his hands off the boy. You
5:23
Speaker 1: do not know, John Carter, He said to me, how
5:25
Speaker 1: we of Helium love this son of yours. It is
5:28
Speaker 1: as though all the great love we bore his noble
5:30
Speaker 1: father and his poor mother had been centered in him.
5:33
Speaker 1: When it became known that he was lost, ten million
5:36
Speaker 1: people wept, What mean you, kantos Kan, I whispered by
5:40
Speaker 1: his poor mother, for the words had seemed to carry
5:43
Speaker 1: a sinister meaning which I could not fathom. He drew
5:46
Speaker 1: me to one side for a year, he said, ever
5:49
Speaker 1: since Carthoris disappeared, dejah Thoris has grieved and mourned for
5:53
Speaker 1: her lost boy. The blow of years ago, when you
5:56
Speaker 1: did not return from the atmosphere plant was lessened to
5:59
Speaker 1: some extent the duties of motherhood, for your son broke
6:02
Speaker 1: his white shell that very night that she suffered terribly.
6:06
Speaker 1: Then all Helium knew, for did not all Helium suffer
6:09
Speaker 1: with her the loss of her lord. But with the
6:12
Speaker 1: boy gone, there was nothing left, and after expedition upon
6:15
Speaker 1: expedition returned with the same hopeless tale of no clue
6:19
Speaker 1: as to his whereabouts. Our beloved princess drooped lower and lower,
6:23
Speaker 1: until all who saw her felt that it could be
6:25
Speaker 1: but a matter of days. Ere she went to join
6:28
Speaker 1: her loved ones within the precincts of the valley door
6:31
Speaker 1: as a last resort. Moore's Kajak, her father, and tardos
6:34
Speaker 1: More's her grandfather, took command of two mighty expeditions, and
6:38
Speaker 1: a month ago sailed away to explore every inch of
6:41
Speaker 1: ground in the northern hemisphere of Barsoom. For two weeks
6:44
Speaker 1: no word has come back from them, but rumors were
6:47
Speaker 1: rifted that they had met with a terrible disaster and
6:50
Speaker 1: that all were dead. About this time, zat Arras renewed
6:53
Speaker 1: his importunities for her hand in marriage. He has been
6:56
Speaker 1: forever after her since you disappeared. She hated him and
7:00
Speaker 1: feared him, But with both her father and grandfather gone,
7:04
Speaker 1: Zadarras was very powerful, for he is still jed of
7:07
Speaker 1: Zodanga to which position you will remember, Tardos Mors appointed
7:11
Speaker 1: him after you had refused the honor. He had a
7:14
Speaker 1: secret audience with her six days ago. What took place
7:18
Speaker 1: none knows. But the next day dejah Thoris had disappeared,
7:21
Speaker 1: and with her had gone a dozen of her household
7:24
Speaker 1: guard and body servants, including Sola, the green woman, tars
7:28
Speaker 1: Tarkas's daughter. You recall no word left they of their intentions.
7:32
Speaker 1: But it is always thus with those who go upon
7:35
Speaker 1: the voluntary pilgrimage, from which none returns. We cannot think
7:39
Speaker 1: aught than that dejah Thoris has sought the icy bosom
7:42
Speaker 1: of Issh, and that her devoted servants have chosen to
7:45
Speaker 1: accompany her. Zadarras was at Helium when she disappeared. He
7:49
Speaker 1: commands this fleet which has been searching for her since.
7:52
Speaker 1: No trace of her have we found, and I fear
7:55
Speaker 1: that it be a feudal quest. While we talked, hor
7:58
Speaker 1: Vastus's fliers were returning to the ex Severian. Not one, however,
8:03
Speaker 1: had discovered a trace of Thuvia. I was much depressed
8:06
Speaker 1: over the news of dejah Thoris's disappearance, and now there
8:09
Speaker 1: was added the further burden of apprehension concerning the fate
8:12
Speaker 1: of this girl, whom I believed to be the daughter
8:15
Speaker 1: of some proud Barsoomium house, and it had been my
8:18
Speaker 1: intention to make every effort to return her to her people.
8:21
Speaker 1: I was about to ask kantos Kan to prosecute a
8:24
Speaker 1: further search for her, when a flier from the flagship
8:27
Speaker 1: of the fleet arrived at the Exeverian with an officer
8:30
Speaker 1: bearing a message to kantos Kan from Ras. My friend
8:33
Speaker 1: read the despatch and then turned to me. Zadarras commands
8:37
Speaker 1: me to bring our prisoners before him. There is naught
8:40
Speaker 1: else to do. He is supreme in Helium. Yet it
8:43
Speaker 1: would be far more in keeping with chivalry and good
8:45
Speaker 1: taste were he to come hither and greet the Savior
8:48
Speaker 1: of Barsoom with the honors that are his due. You
8:51
Speaker 1: know full well, my friend, I said, smiling, that Zadarras
8:55
Speaker 1: has good cause to hate me. Nothing would please him
8:57
Speaker 1: better than to humiliate me and then to kill me.
9:01
Speaker 1: Now that he has so excellent an excuse, let us
9:04
Speaker 1: go and see if he has the courage to take
9:06
Speaker 1: advantage of it. Summoning Carthoris, tars Tarkas, and Exodar, we
9:10
Speaker 1: entered the small flier with kantos Kan and zat Arras's officer,
9:14
Speaker 1: and in a moment we were stepping to the deck
9:16
Speaker 1: of Zadarras's flagship. As we approached the Jed of Zodanga,
9:20
Speaker 1: no sign of greeting or recognition crossed his face. Not
9:24
Speaker 1: even to Carthoris did he vouchsafe a friendly word. His
9:27
Speaker 1: attitude was cold, haughty and uncompromising. Kaor's at Arras, I
9:32
Speaker 1: said in greeting, but he did not respond. Why were
9:35
Speaker 1: these prisoners not disarmed, he asked to kantos Kan. They
9:39
Speaker 1: are not prisoners, zadars replied the officer. Two of them
9:42
Speaker 1: are of Helium's noblest family. Tars Tarkas Jeddak of thark
9:46
Speaker 1: Is Tartos Moore's best beloved ally. The other is a
9:50
Speaker 1: friend and companion of the Prince of Helium. That is
9:53
Speaker 1: enough for me to know. It is not enough for me, however,
9:56
Speaker 1: retorted Zadars. More must I hear from those who have
10:00
Speaker 1: taken the pilgrimage, then their names? Where have you been,
10:03
Speaker 1: John Carter, I have just come from the valley door
10:06
Speaker 1: and the land of the first born, zadars I replied, Ah,
10:09
Speaker 1: he exclaimed in evident pleasure. You do not deny it,
10:12
Speaker 1: then you have returned from the bosom of issh. I
10:16
Speaker 1: have come back from a land of false hope, from
10:18
Speaker 1: a valley of torture and death. With my companions, I
10:22
Speaker 1: have escaped from the hideous clutches of lying fiends. I
10:25
Speaker 1: have come back to the barsoom that I saved from
10:27
Speaker 1: a painless death, to again save her, but this time
10:30
Speaker 1: from death in its most frightful form. Cease blasphemer, cried Zatars,
10:35
Speaker 1: hope not to say thy cowardly carcass by inventing horrid
10:38
Speaker 1: lies to But he got no further. One does not
10:42
Speaker 1: call John Carter coward and liar thus lightly, and Zatars
10:46
Speaker 1: should have known it. Before a hand could be raised
10:49
Speaker 1: to stop me, I was at his side, and one
10:51
Speaker 1: hand grasped his throat. Come I from heaven or hell,
10:55
Speaker 1: zat oars, you will find me still the same John
10:58
Speaker 1: Carter that I have always been. Nor did ever man
11:01
Speaker 1: call me such names and live without apologizing. And with
11:05
Speaker 1: that I commenced to bend him back across my knee
11:07
Speaker 1: and tighten my grip upon his throat. Seize him. Cried
11:10
Speaker 1: Stars and a dozen officers sprang forward to assist him.
11:14
Speaker 1: Kantos Kan came close and whispered to me, desist, I
11:18
Speaker 1: beg of you. It will but involve us all, for
11:21
Speaker 1: I cannot see these men lay hands upon you without
11:24
Speaker 1: aiding you. My officers and men will join me, and
11:28
Speaker 1: we shall have a mutiny then that may lead to
11:30
Speaker 1: the revolution for the sake of Tardos Mors and Helium. Desist.
11:35
Speaker 1: At his words, I released Zadarras, and, turning my back
11:38
Speaker 1: upon him, walked toward the ship's rail. Come kantos Kan,
11:42
Speaker 1: I said, the Prince of Helium would return to the Exevarian.
11:46
Speaker 1: None interfered. Zadar stood white and trembling amidst his officers.
11:51
Speaker 1: Some there were who looked upon him with scorn and
11:54
Speaker 1: drew toward me, while one, a man long in the
11:57
Speaker 1: service and confidence of Tartos Mors, spoke to me in
12:00
Speaker 1: a low tone as I passed him. You may count
12:03
Speaker 1: my metal among your fighting men, John Carter, he said.
12:06
Speaker 1: I thanked him and passed on in silence. We embarked,
12:09
Speaker 1: and shortly after stepped once more upon the deck of
12:12
Speaker 1: the Exevarium. Fifteen minutes later we received orders from the
12:16
Speaker 1: flagship to proceed toward Helium. Our journey thither was uneventful.
12:21
Speaker 1: Carthoris and I were wrapped in the gloomiest of thoughts.
12:24
Speaker 1: Kantos Kan was somber and contemplation of the further calamity
12:28
Speaker 1: that might fall upon Helium should Zatars attempt to follow
12:31
Speaker 1: the agiled precedent that allotted a terrible death to fugitives
12:35
Speaker 1: from the valley door Tars Tarkas grieved for the loss
12:38
Speaker 1: of his daughter. Exodar alone was carefree, a fugitive and outlaw,
12:43
Speaker 1: he could be no worse off in Helium than elsewhere.
12:46
Speaker 1: Let us hope that we may at least go out
12:48
Speaker 1: with good red blood upon our blades. He said. It
12:51
Speaker 1: was a simple wish, and one most likely to be
12:54
Speaker 1: gratified among the officers of a Exavarian. I thought I
12:57
Speaker 1: could discern di vision into fractions where we had reached Helium.
13:01
Speaker 1: There were those who gathered about Carthoris and myself whenever
13:05
Speaker 1: the opportunity presented, while about an equal number held aloof
13:08
Speaker 1: from us. They offered us only the most courteous treatment,
13:12
Speaker 1: but were evidently bound by their superstitious belief in the
13:15
Speaker 1: doctrine of door and ish and chorus. I could not
13:18
Speaker 1: blame them, for I knew how strong a holy creed,
13:21
Speaker 1: however ridiculous it may be, may gain upon an otherwise
13:25
Speaker 1: intelligent people. By returning from Dor, we had committed a sacrilege.
13:29
Speaker 1: By recounting our adventures there and stating the facts as
13:32
Speaker 1: they existed, we had outraged the religion of their fathers.
13:36
Speaker 1: We were blasphemers, lying heretics. Even those who still clung
13:40
Speaker 1: to us from personal love and loyalty, I think, did
13:43
Speaker 1: so in the face of the fact that at heart
13:45
Speaker 1: they questioned our veracity. It is very hard to accept
13:49
Speaker 1: a new religion for an old, no matter how our
13:51
Speaker 1: luring the promises of the new may be. But to
13:55
Speaker 1: reject the old as a tissue of falsehoods without being
13:58
Speaker 1: offered anything in its steed is indeed a most difficult
14:01
Speaker 1: thing to ask of any people. Kantos Kan would not
14:05
Speaker 1: talk of our experiences among the Thurns and the first Born.
14:08
Speaker 1: It is enough, he said, that I jeopardized my life
14:10
Speaker 1: here and hereafter by countenancing you all. Do not ask
14:15
Speaker 1: me to add still further to my sins by listening
14:17
Speaker 1: to what I have always been taught. Was the rankest heresy.
14:21
Speaker 1: I knew that sooner or later the time must come
14:23
Speaker 1: when our friends and enemies would be forced to declare
14:25
Speaker 1: themselves openly. When we reached Helium, there must be an accounting,
14:30
Speaker 1: And if Tardos Mors had not returned, I feared that
14:32
Speaker 1: the enmity of Zadars might weigh heavily against us, for
14:36
Speaker 1: he represented the government of Helium. To take sides against
14:39
Speaker 1: him were equivalent to treason. The majority of the troops
14:43
Speaker 1: would doubtless follow the lead of their officers, and I
14:45
Speaker 1: knew that many of the highest and most powerful men
14:48
Speaker 1: of both land and air forces would cleave to John
14:50
Speaker 1: Carter in the face of God, man or devil. On
14:54
Speaker 1: the other hand, the majority of the populace unquestionably would
14:57
Speaker 1: demand that we pay the penalty of our sacrilege. The
15:00
Speaker 1: outlook seemed dark from whatever angle I viewed it, but
15:03
Speaker 1: my mind was so torn with anguish at the thought
15:06
Speaker 1: of dejah Thoris that I realized now that I gave
15:09
Speaker 1: the terrible question of Helium's plight, but scant attention at
15:12
Speaker 1: that time. There was always before me day and night,
15:15
Speaker 1: a horrible nightmare of the frightful scenes through which I
15:18
Speaker 1: knew my princess might even then be passing the horrid
15:21
Speaker 1: plant men, the ferocious white apes. At times I would
15:25
Speaker 1: cover my face with my hands in a vain effort
15:27
Speaker 1: to shut out the fearful thing from my mind. It
15:30
Speaker 1: was in the forenoon that we arrived above the mild
15:33
Speaker 1: high scarlet tower, which marks Greater Helium from her twin city.
15:37
Speaker 1: As we descended in great circles toward the navy docks,
15:40
Speaker 1: a mighty multitude could be seen surging in the streets
15:43
Speaker 1: beneath Helium had been notified by radio aerogram of our approach.
15:48
Speaker 1: From the deck of the ex Savarian. We four Carthoris,
15:51
Speaker 1: Tars Tarkas, Exodar, and I were transferred to a lesser
15:54
Speaker 1: flower to be transported to quarters within the Temple of Reward.
15:58
Speaker 1: It is here that Martian justice as needed to benefactor
16:01
Speaker 1: or malefactor. Here the hero is decorated, here the felon
16:05
Speaker 1: is condemned. We were taken into the temple from the
16:08
Speaker 1: landing stage upon the roof, so that we did not
16:11
Speaker 1: pass among the people at all, as is customary. Always
16:15
Speaker 1: before I had seen prisoners of note or returned wanderers
16:18
Speaker 1: of eminence paraded from the gate of Jeddaks to the
16:21
Speaker 1: Temple of Reward, up the broad Avenue of Ancestors, through
16:25
Speaker 1: dense crowds of jeering or cheering citizens. I knew that
16:29
Speaker 1: Zat Darras dared not trust the people near to us,
16:32
Speaker 1: for he feared that their love for Carthoris and myself
16:35
Speaker 1: might break into a demonstration which would wipe out their
16:38
Speaker 1: superstitious horror of the crime we were to be charged with.
16:42
Speaker 1: What his plans were I could only guess, but that
16:44
Speaker 1: they were sinister was evidenced by the fact that only
16:47
Speaker 1: his most trusted servitors accompanied us upon the flier to
16:51
Speaker 1: the Temple of Reward. We were lodged in a room
16:54
Speaker 1: upon the south side of the temple, overlooking the Avenue
16:57
Speaker 1: of Ancestors, down which we could see the full length
17:00
Speaker 1: to the gate of Jeddaks, five miles away. The people
17:03
Speaker 1: in the temple plaza and in the streets for a
17:05
Speaker 1: distance of a full mile were standing as close packed
17:08
Speaker 1: as it was possible for them to get. They were
17:11
Speaker 1: very orderly. There were neither scoffs nor plaudits, and when
17:14
Speaker 1: they saw us at the window above them, there were
17:17
Speaker 1: many who buried their faces in their arms and wept.
17:20
Speaker 1: Late in the afternoon, a messenger arrived from zat Arras
17:23
Speaker 1: to inform us that we would be tried by an
17:25
Speaker 1: impartial body of nobles in the Great Hall of the
17:28
Speaker 1: Temple at the verse Zode asterisk on the following day,

17:37
Speaker 1: Wherever Captain Carter has used Martian measurements of time, distance, weight,
17:41
Speaker 1: and the like, I have translated them into as nearly
17:44
Speaker 1: their equivalent in earthly values as is possible. His notes
17:48
Speaker 1: contained many Martian tables and a great volume of scientific data.
17:52
Speaker 1: But since the International Astronomic Society is at present engaged
17:56
Speaker 1: in classifying, investigating, and verifying this vast fun of remarkable
18:00
Speaker 1: and valuable information, I have felt that it will add
18:03
Speaker 1: nothing to the interest of Captain Carter's story or to
18:06
Speaker 1: the sum total of human knowledge. To maintain a strict
18:09
Speaker 1: adherence to the original manuscript in these matters, while it
18:13
Speaker 1: might readily confuse the reader and detract from the interest
18:16
Speaker 1: of the history. For those who may be interested, however,
18:19
Speaker 1: I will explain that the Martian day is a trifle
18:22
Speaker 1: over twenty four hours thirty seven minutes duration Earth time.
18:26
Speaker 1: This the Martians divide into ten equal parts, commencing the
18:30
Speaker 1: day at about six a m. Earth time. The zodes
18:33
Speaker 1: are divided into fifty shorter periods, each of which in
18:37
Speaker 1: turn is composed of two hundred brief periods of time
18:40
Speaker 1: about equivalent to the earthly second. The Barsoomian table of
18:44
Speaker 1: time as here given is but a part of the
18:46
Speaker 1: full table appearing in Captain Carter's notes, Table two hundred
