Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:05Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus after ten yard line. Second to day three
- 0:08Speaker 1: wide receivers now in motion is Culpas left to right,
- 0:12Speaker 1: Julius Jones, a single setback mat Pumpfecks looking at the
- 0:14Speaker 1: goal line, he throws it into the end zone. Touchdown.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching the
- 0:21Speaker 1: end zone. Our ten yard touchdown reception for Bumpus, and
- 0:25Speaker 1: a kid out of Washington State has found himself a
- 0:29Speaker 1: place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. What up, twelves,
- 0:34Speaker 1: you're listening to Hawk Talk recap. I'm Michael bump Is
- 0:37Speaker 1: along with Nasa Choby. The Hawks get it done. They
- 0:39Speaker 1: beat the Eagles twenty three to seventeen. He was more
- 0:43Speaker 1: light twenty three to nine. You know, they threw a
- 0:44Speaker 1: little hell Mary at the end and made it look interesting.
- 0:47Speaker 1: But the story of the day, Naz was mister dk Metcalb,
- 0:51Speaker 1: who had one hundred and seventy seven yards on ten catches,
- 0:55Speaker 1: his best game as a professional. Something about Philly, This
- 0:58Speaker 1: dude just balls out. He was there last year in
- 1:00Speaker 1: the playoffs, had one hundred and sixty yards and a touchdown,
- 1:03Speaker 1: and the Bear was poked a little bit pre game,
- 1:06Speaker 1: wasn't he? Oh for sure? Man, don't talk to that man.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Don't talk to that man. DK Metcalfs are bad, man.
- 1:11Speaker 1: I've been telling y'all all season, he's a superstar. I
- 1:14Speaker 1: poked the bear pre game. Philly paid four once again,
- 1:17Speaker 1: and then s'alls just got their number. Man, that's seven
- 1:19Speaker 1: straight wins over Philly. Yeah, and I like early man.
- 1:23Speaker 1: DK caught a couple of slats. You know, he's he caught.
- 1:27Speaker 1: He called a d ball to really get the offense going,
- 1:29Speaker 1: but it really was one established in the run and
- 1:31Speaker 1: then getting the quick game going. And he was a
- 1:33Speaker 1: big opponent of that. But this defense, there's something different
- 1:36Speaker 1: about this defense right now. They're swag is different, their
- 1:39Speaker 1: energy is different. They came out and force five consecutive
- 1:42Speaker 1: three an ounce I can't tell you the last time
- 1:45Speaker 1: I saw that, And apparently that's the second time that's
- 1:47Speaker 1: happened all year in the NFL. Yeah, not only is
- 1:49Speaker 1: the Tegon Times happening all year. Guess who the other
- 1:52Speaker 1: team was? Really the Philadelphia Eagles. But hey, here's the thing.
- 1:56Speaker 1: These guys are professional athletes. This is the National Football
- 1:58Speaker 1: League and to start a gatting five three and owns,
- 2:01Speaker 1: I don't care who you're playing. That's that's a good
- 2:03Speaker 1: team defense. That's doing what we're supposed to be. That's
- 2:05Speaker 1: being where you're supposed to be. That's getting after the quarterback.
- 2:07Speaker 1: That's guy's dropping in the right spot. And they think
- 2:10Speaker 1: about Carson Wentz. Yeah, he has not had a good
- 2:12Speaker 1: season this year. We knew he was entering the ball
- 2:14Speaker 1: over It's been a whole issue with their injuries up front,
- 2:17Speaker 1: the offensive line. But they still got some good guys
- 2:19Speaker 1: over there, and Carson still good athlete, and the Seahawks
- 2:22Speaker 1: made him look completely incompetent, especially that first half and
- 2:25Speaker 1: a lot of pressure on him. Since Week eight, these
- 2:28Speaker 1: guys have sacked the quarterback twenty two times. That's top
- 2:32Speaker 1: of the league. Twenty two times. There was a time
- 2:35Speaker 1: during this year where they didn't get a sack in
- 2:36Speaker 1: a game. Now do get Carlos Dunlap. Guys are getting healthy.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Lj's moving around, Jayree is doing the same, Mayoa gets
- 2:43Speaker 1: healthy again. I think it's the second week in a row.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Pete Carroll was telling us he goes hold on guys
- 2:47Speaker 1: this team is going to get better and we're starting
- 2:49Speaker 1: to see them. And you touched on Carson Wentz. He
- 2:51Speaker 1: was twenty five or forty five, two two passing touchdowns,
- 2:55Speaker 1: one interception. I just didn't know who he was throwing
- 2:57Speaker 1: too of digs in the right place, right time of league.
- 2:59Speaker 1: That tight end just set down in his zone. He
- 3:01Speaker 1: was expecting to seem We knew him a stake like
- 3:04Speaker 1: that was coming. Unfortunately for Carson Wentz, we knew that
- 3:07Speaker 1: at some point he was just going to toss the
- 3:09Speaker 1: full ball up and all this defense had to do
- 3:11Speaker 1: was be there to make the play. Oh yeah, you
- 3:13Speaker 1: could even tell from the if you people were listening
- 3:15Speaker 1: to the actual TV Monday night broadcast, they were like,
- 3:18Speaker 1: if there's the interception, as if it was like they
- 3:21Speaker 1: were just waiting for it to happen, and miscommunication. It
- 3:24Speaker 1: was hard to tell what was going on because the
- 3:26Speaker 1: Seahawks looked like they're in man coverage across the board,
- 3:28Speaker 1: man free with digs in the middle. And I guess
- 3:30Speaker 1: he thought his tight end was going to break the
- 3:32Speaker 1: other way, but he threw the ball before the tight
- 3:34Speaker 1: end broke either way, So he hit Digs right between
- 3:37Speaker 1: the three and to seven. So it was good to
- 3:39Speaker 1: see there. But you talked about the pass rush, man,
- 3:41Speaker 1: I mean, their win rate on Monday night was sixty
- 3:43Speaker 1: two percent, the highest of the game this season. You
- 3:46Speaker 1: mentioned that twenty two sacks. It feels like a century
- 3:51Speaker 1: or ago where every single week, after every single game,
- 3:53Speaker 1: no matter how we played, we were talking about the
- 3:55Speaker 1: defensive line, talking about how we drafted Darryl Taylor and
- 3:59Speaker 1: how we paid Jared Reid and we have all these
- 4:01Speaker 1: guys and LJ. Collier was the first round pick and
- 4:03Speaker 1: he's coming back for a second year. What's going on? Well,
- 4:06Speaker 1: finally Carl Stunlop kind of got this thing going. So
- 4:08Speaker 1: get out those dudes back. Give credit where credit is due.
- 4:11Speaker 1: The d line is playing super well. Defensive line coach
- 4:14Speaker 1: Clint Hurt got those boys rolling. And uh, I'm just
- 4:16Speaker 1: happy you don't have to talk about that anymore. Not
- 4:18Speaker 1: an issue. Yes, If trust the process was a football team,
- 4:22Speaker 1: the Seattle Seahawks would be that all right. Now they
- 4:25Speaker 1: are eight and three, they're number one in the NFC
- 4:27Speaker 1: West and number two in the NFC overall. Now, this
- 4:31Speaker 1: is the seventh straight win over Philly. They went down
- 4:34Speaker 1: there and did what they're supposed to do. Let's highlight
- 4:36Speaker 1: some of these playmakers. Playmakers, all right, playmakers. Russell Wilson,
- 4:51Speaker 1: we'll start with number three, but another good game, nothing crazy,
- 4:54Speaker 1: no video game numbers, but once again incredibly efficient. Twenty
- 4:58Speaker 1: two for thirty one in thirty yards, in one touchdown,
- 5:02Speaker 1: and most importantly, second straight week where he had zero turnovers.
- 5:06Speaker 1: He becomes just a second QB with three thousand passing yards,
- 5:09Speaker 1: twenty touchdowns and each of their first nine seasons. Only
- 5:13Speaker 1: other one who accomplish that feat was Peyton Manning. So
- 5:16Speaker 1: Russell Wilson is doing what we expected it to do.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Like I said, we've kind of gotten away from the
- 5:20Speaker 1: huge video game numbers. We were throwing the ball a
- 5:22Speaker 1: little less after the first drive. The offense kind of
- 5:25Speaker 1: got out of sync, out of rhythm for a little bit,
- 5:27Speaker 1: but they kind of found it, and like I said,
- 5:29Speaker 1: it's all about taking care of the rock. They possessed
- 5:31Speaker 1: the ball, they didn't turn it over, and that's all
- 5:33Speaker 1: you can ask for for him, your quarterback. That's it.
- 5:35Speaker 1: You know. I'm kind of glad that the MVP talk
- 5:37Speaker 1: is over and just let him play his game. He
- 5:41Speaker 1: is an MVP, but he might not get it this
- 5:43Speaker 1: year just because you're looking at my Homes thrown him
- 5:44Speaker 1: all these crazy numbers. It's all about winning and getting healthy,
- 5:47Speaker 1: and he is weathered the storm. Mahomes and those guys
- 5:50Speaker 1: haven't have to deal with all the injuries that RELs
- 5:52Speaker 1: had to deal with and get the pressure he has gotten.
- 5:54Speaker 1: So I'm okay with that. The dude is twenty nine
- 5:57Speaker 1: eight and one in primetime games. Loves the limelight. He
- 6:01Speaker 1: loves to shine, he loves to show the country what
- 6:03Speaker 1: he's all about, and we appreciate him for that. Next
- 6:06Speaker 1: playmaker we just talked about an earlier DK met Calf
- 6:09Speaker 1: called ten passes for one hundred and seventy seven yards.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Darius Slay had a long NiFe. Darius Lay came out
- 6:16Speaker 1: talking at Talk but in the DK place. DK said,
- 6:19Speaker 1: you know what, don't worry, I'll be back. I'm gonna
- 6:21Speaker 1: hit you for a one hundred and seventy seven and
- 6:23Speaker 1: Slay was humble after the game. Did you catch us any?
- 6:25Speaker 1: I did? I was actually I was impressed. I figured
- 6:27Speaker 1: he'd come out there and say, well, you know, he's
- 6:29Speaker 1: an okay player, but I gotta know he owned it.
- 6:31Speaker 1: He owned it. Because I mean, hey, the film don't lie.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Everyone watching that game is that you can't lie in
- 6:37Speaker 1: the defensive film room. And one of the funniest things
- 6:39Speaker 1: I saw was the Philadelphia Inquirer, their big time newspaper,
- 6:43Speaker 1: out there headline had a dk Metcalf mosson Darius Slay
- 6:47Speaker 1: and then said Seattle by d k Oh. I mean
- 6:54Speaker 1: they called out there, but I mean this, dude, I mean,
- 6:57Speaker 1: I've been saying it. He is a superstar in the
- 7:00Speaker 1: easy thing. Bump is as good as he is. He
- 7:02Speaker 1: leads a league in receiving one thousand, thirty nine yards
- 7:05Speaker 1: through eleven games, according to ESPN stats at Info. That
- 7:07Speaker 1: makes him the fastest player in SEAK history, the top
- 7:10Speaker 1: a thousand yards in a season. He's also the fifth
- 7:12Speaker 1: most yards by first or second year player through eleven
- 7:14Speaker 1: games in the past thirty seasons. Nineteen career receiving yards.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Matcalf's only eighty eight away from passing Joey Galloway for
- 7:21Speaker 1: the most through two seasons in franchise history. But the thing,
- 7:24Speaker 1: Bump is, he can get so much better. He could
- 7:27Speaker 1: have had over two hundred and fifty yards. Yeah, yeah,
- 7:31Speaker 1: he just eliminates a couple of drops. Seems like there's
- 7:34Speaker 1: a drop of game. But if when you're making plays
- 7:36Speaker 1: like he's making, you kind of just throw the drops
- 7:38Speaker 1: away and say, okay, we will work on that. People
- 7:40Speaker 1: are comparing him to Megatron, and first I heard that,
- 7:42Speaker 1: I'm like, man with y'all talking about Then I looked
- 7:44Speaker 1: at the stats. I'm like, hold up. His rookie season
- 7:47Speaker 1: was better than Megatron's rookie season. They Megantron had about
- 7:49Speaker 1: seven hundred yards, DC had about nine hundred. Four touchdowns.
- 7:52Speaker 1: DC had like eight this year Megatron his second year,
- 7:55Speaker 1: Megatron at thirteen hundred yards twelve touchdowns. DK looks like
- 7:59Speaker 1: he's probably gonna pass that. He's got a thousand so far,
- 8:02Speaker 1: but what if four games left he has nine touchdowns,
- 8:05Speaker 1: He's probably gonna pass him with twelve. Numbers wise, I
- 8:08Speaker 1: say he's right there with Megatroum. There's a couple of
- 8:11Speaker 1: things that I feel will put him over the top eventually,
- 8:14Speaker 1: the skill wise, but it's it's safe to compare him now. Now.
- 8:18Speaker 1: First I wouldn't touch it. Second year going in, I
- 8:20Speaker 1: wouldn't touch that comparison. But numbers don't lie. You're looking
- 8:23Speaker 1: at what this young man is doing. It's fun to watch,
- 8:26Speaker 1: and I love the way he kept his composure last night.
- 8:29Speaker 1: He gives everybody a little man syndrome, Like every little
- 8:31Speaker 1: dB is gonna want to square up and bark at
- 8:33Speaker 1: him behind the fence. You open the fence up, the
- 8:35Speaker 1: dog gets lose. Now you gotta really play football to
- 8:38Speaker 1: see what you're gonna do. No, I mean it happens
- 8:40Speaker 1: every single week. And then cool thing about DK is
- 8:43Speaker 1: you know it's where to tell me that line? Because
- 8:45Speaker 1: he'll do this and the other guy gets upset. The
- 8:48Speaker 1: flag is always on the dB every single time this year,
- 8:51Speaker 1: It's always been on the dB, and and I think
- 8:53Speaker 1: what happens is, like you mentioned, dbs get in there,
- 8:55Speaker 1: they're like, no, I'm gonna getting this dude's head. I'm
- 8:57Speaker 1: gonna be physical with him, I'm gonna do this and that,
- 8:58Speaker 1: and then he cooks him. I mean, the only dB
- 9:01Speaker 1: this entire year, including so you had Stefan Gilmore, you've
- 9:03Speaker 1: had Patrick Peterson, You've had darry Slave had all these
- 9:06Speaker 1: good guys. The only person that has really done anything
- 9:09Speaker 1: to slow Metcalf down this year is Jalen Ramsey. So
- 9:12Speaker 1: really excited for round two of that matchup. And then
- 9:14Speaker 1: the other thing too with DK is just like I'm
- 9:18Speaker 1: just I'm getting in the play room. It's not surprised
- 9:20Speaker 1: by anything I see from anymore. I mean, he's telling
- 9:23Speaker 1: you what he's gonna do. He's got a different hairstyle
- 9:25Speaker 1: every week. I mean, he's just doing what he wants
- 9:27Speaker 1: to do. And he's really showing the NFL that he
- 9:32Speaker 1: is an elite company. And when you're compared to Calvin Johnson,
- 9:35Speaker 1: I mean, that's one of the best dudes to ever
- 9:37Speaker 1: play this game. So that's pretty crazy right there. And
- 9:40Speaker 1: then I'll jump into this bump Jim Schwartz, the bens
- 9:43Speaker 1: of coordinator fourth Philadelphia, What are you doing? Why are
- 9:47Speaker 1: you talking to the Kaylin Metcalf before the game starts?
- 9:50Speaker 1: Please tell me why? But yeah, I want a government name. Yes,
- 9:55Speaker 1: I mean bump. I mean, I'm sure DK might have
- 10:00Speaker 1: kind of twisted it to get his own motivation, but
- 10:02Speaker 1: he sadly said, hey, you know, I've been I was
- 10:03Speaker 1: in Detroit, I was around Megatron. You're a good player,
- 10:06Speaker 1: but you're not quite him yet. So of course DK
- 10:08Speaker 1: hears that when he heard I'm not good, I'm not this,
- 10:11Speaker 1: I'm not that, I don't want to be Megatron to
- 10:13Speaker 1: hear something completely different than some MJ stuff. Huh, But
- 10:15Speaker 1: I love to see it. And he owes an apology
- 10:18Speaker 1: to Darius Slay in the entire secondary. I hoping their
- 10:21Speaker 1: meetings today. It starts with, Hey, guys, that's not me,
- 10:23Speaker 1: My bad, my bad, Hey, Philly, gotta have to tell
- 10:26Speaker 1: the truth Monday Coaches Edition. Gotta stand down and be
- 10:30Speaker 1: like that sold me. Hey, but that that headline Seattle
- 10:34Speaker 1: by d k Oh that might be the hardest one
- 10:37Speaker 1: I've heard in a long time. All right. Next, playmaker
- 10:41Speaker 1: Chris Carson was back for the first time since Week
- 10:44Speaker 1: seven against Arizona. He had eight carres for forty one yards,
- 10:46Speaker 1: one touchdown, two receptions for eighteen yards. Yeah, forty one
- 10:50Speaker 1: yards rushing, but it felt different. It wasn't your average
- 10:54Speaker 1: forty one. It was a downhill. I'm back, I'm fresh.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Remember who I am? Type forty one yards, that touchdown,
- 11:01Speaker 1: that sixteen yard touchdown he have He broke three or
- 11:03Speaker 1: four tackles. There was no denying this man. No disrespect
- 11:07Speaker 1: to DJ Dallas, Travis Homer, Scarborough, all the guys who
- 11:11Speaker 1: filled in while thirty two was gone. But the first
- 11:14Speaker 1: time he touched the football which got called back. It
- 11:16Speaker 1: was a swing pass. You're like, hold on, this is different.
- 11:19Speaker 1: They haven't seen this type of speed and just velocity
- 11:22Speaker 1: in a long time, no question about it. And then
- 11:23Speaker 1: they came back on the very next play, went to
- 11:25Speaker 1: the other side with that swing round and you're right.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Just the physical nature of Chris Carson, the way he
- 11:30Speaker 1: runs the ball is just different. When when he gets
- 11:32Speaker 1: to carry up the middle and it looks like it's
- 11:34Speaker 1: gonna go for no gain or lost some one, Chris
- 11:36Speaker 1: always makes it at least in no gain or he
- 11:38Speaker 1: gets two yards and puts his head down and in
- 11:39Speaker 1: that touchdown, I promise see, he's probably like, I Am
- 11:43Speaker 1: not gonna be denied because sometimes we'd be throwing down
- 11:45Speaker 1: by the goal on so he's like, nope, I'm getting
- 11:47Speaker 1: these end zone. This is my touchdown. We definitely had
- 11:50Speaker 1: him on a pitch count last night. I mean, only
- 11:52Speaker 1: getting a carries, You're only getting his handle on the
- 11:54Speaker 1: ball ten times. But I'm okay with it. To keep
- 11:58Speaker 1: this man fresh because we're I're gonna need him if
- 12:00Speaker 1: we're gonna do anything in the postseason or to potentially
- 12:03Speaker 1: Super Bowl run. We're gonna need thirty two. Gonna need
- 12:06Speaker 1: thirty two. Carlos High played okay as well, and again
- 12:08Speaker 1: he had more carries, not not a bunch of yards,
- 12:11Speaker 1: But it feels good. It feels like both running backs
- 12:14Speaker 1: help the defense, honest, and that's all you want. You
- 12:16Speaker 1: want those linebackers that have to take those run steps
- 12:19Speaker 1: when it comes to the run game, for sure. And
- 12:22Speaker 1: now we're just gonna give a shout out to the
- 12:23Speaker 1: entire Seahawks defense. We'll give one personal shout out to
- 12:26Speaker 1: the defense later. But I mean, they held the Eagles
- 12:29Speaker 1: to seventeen points. Really should have been nine, Like we said,
- 12:31Speaker 1: it was for cheap late touchdown. It's three weeks in
- 12:33Speaker 1: a row the defenses has taken huge strides. Allowing seventeen
- 12:36Speaker 1: points is a season low. They held the Eagles to
- 12:38Speaker 1: two hundred and fifty yards of total offense, another season low.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Started the game with five three and outs. I mean,
- 12:44Speaker 1: you take out that last drive, they only held him
- 12:46Speaker 1: one hundred and ninety eight yards. And then the big
- 12:48Speaker 1: thing that jumped out to me is they held the
- 12:49Speaker 1: Eagles for just seventy five yards rushing. Miles Sander had
- 12:52Speaker 1: six carries for fifteen yards. Only two point five yards carried.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Came into the game averaging five points seven yards to carry,
- 12:59Speaker 1: which led the NFL. So I think it's safe to
- 13:01Speaker 1: say early on we weren't sure about this rush defense.
- 13:03Speaker 1: If it was because teams were deciding to throw more
- 13:06Speaker 1: and it was more of a numbers thing. No teams
- 13:08Speaker 1: that run the football, with the exception of Minnesota, we've
- 13:12Speaker 1: completely shut them down. So you're you're saying that this
- 13:16Speaker 1: defense is legit. This is a legit defense. They have
- 13:19Speaker 1: six sacks, seven tackles for five passes defended Nason Sholby.
- 13:23Speaker 1: There's a game where there were no passes defended. There
- 13:26Speaker 1: was a game there were no pass defended. Now we
- 13:28Speaker 1: got linebackers getting their hands on the football. Seven tackles
- 13:31Speaker 1: for loss, twelve quarterback hits. That was one thing that
- 13:33Speaker 1: they've done okay with all year. They've been hitting the quarterback,
- 13:35Speaker 1: I would say, And I think that's what kind of
- 13:37Speaker 1: gay people hope. They're like, look, they're they're getting there.
- 13:39Speaker 1: They're just a fraction off. But now they're making those
- 13:42Speaker 1: things turn into sacks. This defense played with a speed
- 13:47Speaker 1: and a hunger that I haven't seen a while. And
- 13:49Speaker 1: I want to say Philadelphia kind of set the tone
- 13:51Speaker 1: when it came to that, because Philadelphia was out there
- 13:54Speaker 1: smacking dues those first few series, and that defense looks
- 13:57Speaker 1: across the sideline and was like, all right, y'all want
- 13:59Speaker 1: to play get it done? Oh for sure. And the
- 14:01Speaker 1: confidence Pete had in the defense, you know, you can
- 14:04Speaker 1: disagree with whatever play calls we ran, and the two
- 14:06Speaker 1: times we went for on a fourth down, but it
- 14:08Speaker 1: was because what the defense was doing. He had all
- 14:11Speaker 1: the face of the defense will come out and just
- 14:12Speaker 1: get another stop, and they're they're playing at a high level.
- 14:15Speaker 1: And Paul Warner says this all the time. Let's throw
- 14:18Speaker 1: out the beginning of the season, right, It's going to
- 14:19Speaker 1: be about what we're doing at the end of the season.
- 14:22Speaker 1: And if you look at what we've done through the
- 14:23Speaker 1: last ten quarters, those numbers would rank in the top
- 14:27Speaker 1: ten on defense. So it's good to see them turning
- 14:29Speaker 1: the page, turn the pace. A big up to Bobby Wagner.
- 14:32Speaker 1: One hundred tackles for the ninth season in a row.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Bobby Wagg's most consistent guy on this football team other
- 14:40Speaker 1: than Russell Wilson. Now he crossed the sentry marked this game,
- 14:44Speaker 1: but his best play to me was running down the
- 14:45Speaker 1: middle of the field with Tighten Goddard and making a play.
- 14:48Speaker 1: I asked Pete Carroll this morning, I go is that
- 14:49Speaker 1: an underrated part of his game? He said, most definitely.
- 14:53Speaker 1: It's nice to see fifty four still got some juice
- 14:55Speaker 1: and those legs baby running with him tight end. Oh,
- 14:57Speaker 1: for sure. He's running with a tight end down down
- 14:59Speaker 1: the forty five yards down the field, run a little
- 15:01Speaker 1: corner around. He's with him, striper stride, doesn't interfere with him,
- 15:05Speaker 1: gets his hands up, breaks the hands knocks the ball down.
- 15:07Speaker 1: So love to see Bobby Wags getting it done. Now.
- 15:11Speaker 1: A special shout out to mister Jamal Adams. He led
- 15:14Speaker 1: the team of nine tackles, one sack, one TfL two
- 15:17Speaker 1: quarterback hits. Adams the first defensive back to have six
- 15:20Speaker 1: plus sacks in multiple seasons in the history of the
- 15:23Speaker 1: NFL when sacks started being tracked in nineteen eighty two.
- 15:27Speaker 1: And Jamal's just balling out. Man. I think it's the
- 15:29Speaker 1: first time we got to see him look completely healthy
- 15:32Speaker 1: like we saw against Atlanta. Yeah. You know, the more
- 15:35Speaker 1: I watch film on the Seahawks, the more I appreciate
- 15:39Speaker 1: Jamal Adams role on this football team. Now, people are
- 15:42Speaker 1: gonna ask him all he doesn't cover well, he covers
- 15:45Speaker 1: good enough. Don't sleep on his cover skills. But this
- 15:47Speaker 1: dude is here to roam. I watched him for two
- 15:49Speaker 1: series straight. I rewatched the game and he's just lurking.
- 15:52Speaker 1: He's always lurking. And I love his energy and I
- 15:56Speaker 1: love his passion. He doesn't even have to make the
- 15:58Speaker 1: play right and he's yelling at the sideline like he
- 16:01Speaker 1: made the play. And that dude's feed off of that,
- 16:03Speaker 1: that energy, that intensity, and he has just like how
- 16:07Speaker 1: Quandre Diggs, I mean Digs uplifted this team last last year,
- 16:12Speaker 1: came through a bunch of pigs, brought a bunch of energy.
- 16:14Speaker 1: That's what I'm seeing out of Jamal Adams. I love.
- 16:17Speaker 1: I love the way he plays. There's a different swag
- 16:19Speaker 1: about this defense. He's a big part of that, oh,
- 16:20Speaker 1: no question about it. And he six and a half sacks.
- 16:23Speaker 1: He leaves the team, okay, but he missed four games.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Four games and he's probably gonna have double digit sacks
- 16:30Speaker 1: um like you said him Roman and just he's just
- 16:32Speaker 1: a guy that Dave Wyman always says extra meeting guy
- 16:35Speaker 1: that an offense has to do extra stuff to prepare for.
- 16:37Speaker 1: You have to have extra meetings to figure out on
- 16:39Speaker 1: every snap. Okay, you have to entify, Hey fifty four's
- 16:43Speaker 1: to Mike, but hey wres thirty three. Yeah, and I
- 16:47Speaker 1: saw a blitz at a dime And when they're dime
- 16:50Speaker 1: package is fun to look at because he's got Ryan
- 16:52Speaker 1: Neal out there, you got Ugo out there. But they're
- 16:56Speaker 1: walking digs down the right side of the formation. Boom,
- 16:59Speaker 1: he blisses, the left end drops into space. Carson Wentz
- 17:02Speaker 1: is looking, he's confused. It's just they're getting cute with
- 17:05Speaker 1: their blitzes now, and I like it. I like it
- 17:06Speaker 1: out of Diamond as well, because it allows you to
- 17:08Speaker 1: still cover when you have those extra dbs out there.
- 17:10Speaker 1: If he weren't able to get to the quarterback so quickly,
- 17:12Speaker 1: I don't think that would have to be comfortable calling
- 17:15Speaker 1: plays like that. Kid Norton, Pete Carroll, y'all keep doing
- 17:18Speaker 1: what's doing. All right, Let's talk about these receivers in
- 17:20Speaker 1: the receiver round up. DK Metcalf, like we mentioned, had
- 17:25Speaker 1: ten catches, one hundred and seventy seven yards, no touchdowns,
- 17:28Speaker 1: but along of fifty two, Tyle Locket had three for
- 17:30Speaker 1: twenty three. I'm low key concerned about Tyler. I just
- 17:34Speaker 1: want to make sure he's okay. I think he's okay.
- 17:36Speaker 1: I think he understands, like, look, as long as we're winning,
- 17:39Speaker 1: you know, I'm gonna get my time to shine. But
- 17:41Speaker 1: I just don't want him to feel any type of way.
- 17:44Speaker 1: I love this dude, I love his mentality, I love
- 17:47Speaker 1: the way he plays. I just want to make sure
- 17:48Speaker 1: he's okay, though. I gotta check in on Locke. It, oh,
- 17:50Speaker 1: for sure. And it's it's just bizarre because we're used
- 17:53Speaker 1: to seeing obviously bigger numbers where you huld see him
- 17:55Speaker 1: meaning targeted more. I feel like he's been quiet for
- 17:58Speaker 1: the last couple of weeks, and that's just a bad news. Man.
- 18:01Speaker 1: These New York teams that were about to play the
- 18:03Speaker 1: Washington football team. Everyone on our schedule, Tyler Lockett has
- 18:06Speaker 1: been kind of quiet for a couple of weeks. Y'all
- 18:08Speaker 1: better Yeah, I'll better wash out because yeah, only Tyler
- 18:12Speaker 1: should always have more than four targets any game, and
- 18:14Speaker 1: that's partly what the defense was doing. But just wait,
- 18:17Speaker 1: Tyler's gonna have a huge bounce back game. I feel
- 18:19Speaker 1: that next week, I believe it. Carson had two catches
- 18:22Speaker 1: for eighteen, Jacob Hollister at two for eleven, Carlos Hive
- 18:25Speaker 1: had two for seven. Demo Swag had three for ninety six.
- 18:29Speaker 1: But guests, what he got into the zone and don't
- 18:31Speaker 1: matter forget the yards, Demo, you got into the zone, baby,
- 18:34Speaker 1: All right, now we're gonna break down to play the
- 18:36Speaker 1: coach's corners is Russell Wilson finds DK for fifty two
- 18:39Speaker 1: yards on third and thirteen. Third down in thirteen, Here
- 18:43Speaker 1: comes the blitz. This time Rush looks now he's gonna
- 18:45Speaker 1: let it fly. Got him man out there. Matcalf makes
- 18:47Speaker 1: the catch at the five. He's down at the one
- 18:49Speaker 1: yard line. Good Seahawks needed to open things up, and
- 18:53Speaker 1: they did. Russell saw a single coverage and nobody throws
- 18:57Speaker 1: good d fall like Russell Wilson all the way down.
- 19:01Speaker 1: He inside the five or fifty two yards reception, DK Metcalf.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Welcome back to Philling. Now it just it looks like
- 19:10Speaker 1: man coverage right here. It looks like man. They send
- 19:12Speaker 1: there mic on the blitz, so the running back has
- 19:14Speaker 1: to pick that up. There's a great job picking up
- 19:16Speaker 1: the blitz, and now what is the safety doing for philling?
- 19:19Speaker 1: Why is he taking any steps forward? I don't understand
- 19:21Speaker 1: exactly what's going on right there. He should be in
- 19:24Speaker 1: that back pedal, especially when there's a blitz going. You
- 19:27Speaker 1: know that Russell Wilson is going to take a shot.
- 19:29Speaker 1: All DK does get on his toes, runs a simple post.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Once you get behind DK. If Russell leads DK, it's
- 19:36Speaker 1: almost impossible. He's so big, and why you're not gonna
- 19:40Speaker 1: be able to get around him and make a play.
- 19:42Speaker 1: This is just I'm faster than you, I'm stronger than you,
- 19:44Speaker 1: and you have no safety help. What I don't understand
- 19:47Speaker 1: is obviously I'm not in their team meeting rooms. I
- 19:50Speaker 1: didn't hear the play call. It looks like you said,
- 19:52Speaker 1: looks like they're in man free. I have no idea.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Why not only is there a free safety walking down,
- 19:58Speaker 1: he then also shuffles a up steps like he's trying
- 20:00Speaker 1: to take away maybe because D can't ran a bunch
- 20:03Speaker 1: of slants early in the game. I don't know what
- 20:04Speaker 1: he's scambling on, but look at the down and distance.
- 20:08Speaker 1: It's third and thirteen. I just I have no explanation
- 20:11Speaker 1: for that. He comes down and now maybe you think, okay,
- 20:13Speaker 1: well I'm gonna cheat underneath. I guess because Darius Slay
- 20:16Speaker 1: can get him one on one. I don't know what
- 20:19Speaker 1: scenario where you're like, oh, I might I supposed to
- 20:21Speaker 1: sleep DC out there by himself. I don't care who's
- 20:23Speaker 1: covering him. Yeah, it doesn't make sense. His eyes got
- 20:27Speaker 1: him in trouble. I think he's looking at that crossing
- 20:29Speaker 1: round as well. He feels Lockett going across the field,
- 20:31Speaker 1: but he's got that linebacker that have helped. I think
- 20:34Speaker 1: that's a bus I think DK and Russell Wilson took
- 20:37Speaker 1: advantage of that. And if they want to be one
- 20:39Speaker 1: of the greatest duos in history, like they keep talking about,
- 20:42Speaker 1: they have to do things like this defense makes a mistake,
- 20:45Speaker 1: go up top. Russell Wilson throws the best d ball
- 20:48Speaker 1: in the game. DCA believe it's number two in the
- 20:50Speaker 1: league when it comes to receptions over twenty yards. Great
- 20:53Speaker 1: example of just taking advantage of a defense mistake. Well,
- 20:57Speaker 1: if you're a Slay, he has a good technique to start,
- 20:59Speaker 1: He's he kind of baland at the snap of the ball.
- 21:02Speaker 1: It's demoralizing as a as a dB, especially as a corner.
- 21:04Speaker 1: If you're in a back pedal, his hips are already open,
- 21:07Speaker 1: so it's only kid of flip his hips. You're in
- 21:08Speaker 1: a back pedal on the guy just runs by you.
- 21:10Speaker 1: I mean, that's that's what happened. He literally just ran
- 21:12Speaker 1: right by down the middle of the field. And that's
- 21:14Speaker 1: just helpless. Like you said, when you're in trail technique
- 21:16Speaker 1: and you're trailing number fourteen, good luck, you know. That
- 21:19Speaker 1: reminds me of That's why I stopped running track. I
- 21:21Speaker 1: stopped running tracking and started practicing because dudes has kept
- 21:24Speaker 1: beating me and I didn't like that dude is running
- 21:26Speaker 1: by him. Just nothing I can do. Boy it like,
- 21:28Speaker 1: I'm just not as fast as that dude. That's what
- 21:30Speaker 1: that reminds me. And that's the feeling he probably watching
- 21:33Speaker 1: DK live by him, all right. Greatest formation in football,
- 21:38Speaker 1: Nassa Shelby. Let's go. Here comes the Seahawk offense onto
- 21:44Speaker 1: the field and the Vikings defense trudging out there knowing
- 21:48Speaker 1: that one kneel down and the Seahawks are gonna wind
- 21:52Speaker 1: the clock down and win this one. It's the victory
- 21:54Speaker 1: formation on Hawk Talk. Best formation in football, The victory formation.
- 22:00Speaker 1: We actually got to get into that last night. Two
- 22:03Speaker 1: weeks in a row back in the win column. Snapped
- 22:05Speaker 1: a three game losing streak on the road, which is huge,
- 22:07Speaker 1: and like we said at the beginning of the podcast,
- 22:10Speaker 1: the Seahawks defense stayed consistent, building off another strong performance
- 22:14Speaker 1: last Thursday night against the Cardinals. Defense is playing the
- 22:17Speaker 1: bestball they've played all season and it's great to see
- 22:19Speaker 1: right as we're heading into December. For this stretch run
- 22:21Speaker 1: defense is balling. DK Let the world know once again
- 22:25Speaker 1: I am for real. Go ahead and comparement to Megatron.
- 22:27Speaker 1: The numbers don't lie. Numbers don't lie. Another week with
- 22:29Speaker 1: zero turnovers and the Hawks are in first place in
- 22:32Speaker 1: the division. They control their own destiny right now. Just
- 22:36Speaker 1: went out, you went out, You're thirteen and three. I'm
- 22:39Speaker 1: gonna call it now. The Saints are gonna lose a
- 22:41Speaker 1: game because Taysom Hill's not a real quarterback. He's an
- 22:44Speaker 1: athlete who can throw. And if they throw Jamie's in there,
- 22:47Speaker 1: it's really a rap. And this at thirty for thirty.
- 22:49Speaker 1: Don't disrespect James, but you're through thirty touchdowns, thirty picks.
- 22:51Speaker 1: I'm just I'm not hating I'm just calling how I
- 22:54Speaker 1: see it. I'm not hating, but shouldn't he be playing
- 22:56Speaker 1: by I mean complete side note, shouldn't shouldn't you be
- 22:58Speaker 1: playing a guy that is an actual quarterback, don't you think?
- 23:01Speaker 1: I mean, if you're, if you're the New Orleans, I
- 23:03Speaker 1: know you pay tasting me all about money, So maybe
- 23:05Speaker 1: that's why they're deciding to do this, But I don't know.
- 23:07Speaker 1: I think I think Jamis should be out there, regardless
- 23:10Speaker 1: of playing quarterback for him. No, I think they're gonna
- 23:12Speaker 1: drop a game. I like where your heads at thirteen
- 23:14Speaker 1: and three, getting potentially a first round by depending for
- 23:18Speaker 1: all these other teams seem to figure out their COVID situations.
- 23:21Speaker 1: But I like what I'm seeing out there. Thirteen three
- 23:23Speaker 1: sounds really good to me. Yeah, I also think you
- 23:27Speaker 1: pointed out we have to tip our hats off to
- 23:30Speaker 1: the Seahawks, the only team in the NFL that's farm
- 23:33Speaker 1: to not have a positive COVID. And you know what
- 23:36Speaker 1: who plays a big role in that. Mister Nashal Choby.
- 23:38Speaker 1: He's the tracker may he's writing down, getting the chants,
- 23:41Speaker 1: make sure everybody's good. So hey, I'm gonna take my
- 23:44Speaker 1: hat off to you too, sir, well done. I appreciate that, Bump,
- 23:47Speaker 1: I appreciate it. You know, you do what you gotta
- 23:49Speaker 1: do to help this football team out. We all gotta,
- 23:51Speaker 1: you know, pick up the slack in certain type of ways.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Happy to help. But like you said, to see us
- 23:56Speaker 1: in Troller and Destiny, you take care of beat the
- 23:58Speaker 1: teams like you always say that you're supposed to beat.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Take care of New York. Take care of New York,
- 24:03Speaker 1: take care of Washington. You got another big matchup with
- 24:05Speaker 1: the Rams, you got the forty nine ers. A lot
- 24:07Speaker 1: of football that be played. I know it's the NFL.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Everyone gets coached the same, but the Seahawks are in
- 24:11Speaker 1: great shape and I expect him to continue winning ball games.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Keep the good times rolling. That was fun. I'm Michael
- 24:18Speaker 1: Bump as he's a NASA Chowe. The Hawks beat the
- 24:20Speaker 1: Eagles twenty three to seventeen, number one in the division,
- 24:23Speaker 1: number two in the conference. On comes the Giants. Let's
- 24:26Speaker 1: get her done. Talk to you next time.
