A tragic crash on Interstate 45 claimed the life of 24-year-old Deputy Erika Serrato, who was directing traffic after an earlier multi-vehicle accident when struck by a commercial truck. The deputy, serving six years with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, died from her injuries while two other police vehicles were also hit. The truck’s driver, charged with driving while intoxicated in connection with the original crash, was hospitalized. Authorities are investigating the collision.
