- 0:19Speaker 1: Yeah, my name is Aramis. I'm in Eaenamclaw. Uh. We're
- 0:24Speaker 1: a band from Tacoma, Washington. We just put out a
- 0:27Speaker 1: new record, Home and Another Life, on Run for Cover
- 0:32Speaker 1: Records here in the States and on Cooking Vinyl in Australia.
- 0:36Speaker 1: I think you know. Uh, And yeah, we just got
- 0:40Speaker 1: off tour like a week ago and here I am
- 0:46Speaker 1: gautiful brother. Thanks for joining us today, Thanks for having
- 0:50Speaker 1: me my pleasure.
- 0:51Speaker 2: So as you say Inpour released your recent album be
- 0:54Speaker 2: Home in Another Life back on August the thirties.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Mite's probably made close to three weeks now.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Baically, how's the early reception being for right?
- 1:01Speaker 1: Really good? I feel like I'm not really on the
- 1:04Speaker 1: internet anymore, so I don't know what people are saying
- 1:07Speaker 1: on but in real life it's been really cool. I've
- 1:12Speaker 1: like I ran into a couple of people all over
- 1:16Speaker 1: towny who have I don't know personally who said they
- 1:19Speaker 1: really like it. So I mean something's working right.
- 1:22Speaker 2: That's a stod So tell us a bit more about
- 1:24Speaker 2: the album from a musical point.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Of view, I guess, and what you guys are gone
- 1:27Speaker 1: forward with it? We were pretty much just trying to
- 1:30Speaker 1: do something that was a lot more direct and not overproduced,
- 1:37Speaker 1: like we we did it in four days. We did
- 1:40Speaker 1: the drums in one day and then just spent like
- 1:43Speaker 1: two days doing guitars and bass and a day doing vocals.
- 1:47Speaker 1: And we're really trying to not completely like replicate the
- 1:53Speaker 1: like Steve ab Beanie sound. But that was like definitely
- 1:56Speaker 1: like our north Star where it's like big drum, it's
- 2:00Speaker 1: like like really well recorded guitars and just kind of
- 2:06Speaker 1: like the sound of the band in the room, you know,
- 2:10Speaker 1: and not really doing too much studio magic.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Yeah. Cool, And the lead up you released the singles
- 2:16Speaker 2: not just yet and changed so just so somebody had
- 2:19Speaker 2: just heard those songs on the radio. Are the good
- 2:21Speaker 2: sonny representation of what to expect for the whole album?
- 2:25Speaker 1: That's a great question, I'd say, yeah. I mean I
- 2:29Speaker 1: think those are those are two high points of the record,
- 2:36Speaker 1: but I definitely think in the context of listening to
- 2:40Speaker 1: the album as a whole, like are great representation of
- 2:44Speaker 1: what it is like musically. Excuse me now.
- 2:48Speaker 2: The press release says that the album is a natural
- 2:51Speaker 2: expansion of what dan Clad built with their twenty twenty
- 2:55Speaker 2: two debuts, save the Baby, which was you agree with
- 2:58Speaker 2: that statement.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I think I think that statement is
- 3:05Speaker 1: true just because I think we're like continuing to come
- 3:09Speaker 1: into our own as a band. You know, it like
- 3:12Speaker 1: definitely like doesn't sound like Save the Baby, But I
- 3:16Speaker 1: think if you've heard Save the Baby, it's like it's
- 3:19Speaker 1: like a step forward from that. But if you haven't,
- 3:22Speaker 1: I think it's like a great introduction point into like
- 3:24Speaker 1: what Enumclaw is as a band.
- 3:27Speaker 2: I'm not to say there's no song on the album
- 3:28Speaker 2: called Home in Another Life, so that must mean the
- 3:31Speaker 2: titles got great a significance.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Yeah, but I heard the truth is, uh, we were
- 3:38Speaker 1: gonna call the album or the working title for the
- 3:43Speaker 1: album was I Don't want to Go Home, not just Yet,
- 3:48Speaker 1: and so not Just Yet was supposed to be the
- 3:51Speaker 1: title track. But then then we decided to change the
- 3:57Speaker 1: name of the album, and so then there became no
- 3:59Speaker 1: like title track. The new name does I feel like
- 4:08Speaker 1: represent like the greater themes on the record. You know,
- 4:11Speaker 1: It's like I had heard somebody use that phrase ah
- 4:18Speaker 1: when I was staying with a friend in London, and
- 4:20Speaker 1: I had never heard of it before. I would assume
- 4:24Speaker 1: it's something on the British people say what they what
- 4:29Speaker 1: they were explaining to me that it meant was just
- 4:31Speaker 1: like they were saying that it just feels it means
- 4:38Speaker 1: like you feel like you've known somebody forever, you know,
- 4:41Speaker 1: like they feel so like lived in, you know, like
- 4:43Speaker 1: you you've already you know, like you've known them in
- 4:46Speaker 1: your whole life essentially, And I thought that was like
- 4:50Speaker 1: such a great and like special like sentiment.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Yeah, now there's one song on their cord. I still
- 4:56Speaker 2: feel bad about Masturbation made like tell us about that.
- 4:59Speaker 2: That's I'm tad a little the century.
- 5:01Speaker 1: I love it. I just like I take a lot
- 5:04Speaker 1: of pride in like the song titles for our song,
- 5:07Speaker 1: and I wrote, usually when I write a song, it's
- 5:10Speaker 1: the first thing that comes to my mind when I
- 5:13Speaker 1: like finish writing, and that's I guess that's like what
- 5:17Speaker 1: I was thinking about that day. I wrote that song
- 5:19Speaker 1: a long time ago there, so I can't quite remember
- 5:22Speaker 1: like what the what the whole backstory was, but.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Well you can use it. Imagine I should mite this
- 5:28Speaker 2: guy gotta be a good one. So, as you mentioned,
- 5:35Speaker 2: the last album side the Baby came out in twenty
- 5:37Speaker 2: twenty two, mates, So what's changed within the band?
- 5:40Speaker 1: I guess that in that time, We've just gotten to
- 5:44Speaker 1: play a lot of shows. Like when we recorded Save
- 5:48Speaker 1: the Baby, I think we had played maybe a total
- 5:51Speaker 1: of thirty shows as a band, and I think, like
- 5:55Speaker 1: more than anything that, like you can if you're really listening,
- 6:00Speaker 1: you can hear that where it's like since then, we
- 6:01Speaker 1: probably played like two hundred and fifty shows, And so
- 6:06Speaker 1: I think we've just like have gotten to a point
- 6:10Speaker 1: as a band that a lot of things are starting
- 6:13Speaker 1: to happen musically, like unconsciously, you know, we're It's just
- 6:16Speaker 1: like I think we're just finally starting to gel together
- 6:20Speaker 1: as a unit and to have a better understanding of
- 6:23Speaker 1: like what what Edemclaw is as a band and being
- 6:28Speaker 1: able to work within the like framework that we're building
- 6:31Speaker 1: for ourselves.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Yeah, Carl, this is only your second album Bright, So
- 6:36Speaker 2: would you say that Adam Klore have found your defeated
- 6:39Speaker 2: in sound yet or are you still still working on it?
- 6:42Speaker 1: I think we're still trying to work out the kings.
- 6:45Speaker 1: I think I think I would like to get to
- 6:49Speaker 1: a point as a band where our influences aren't so
- 6:54Speaker 1: easily identifiable, you know, Like I don't think I feel
- 6:59Speaker 1: like we've found our sound until we feel like we're
- 7:02Speaker 1: doing something not completely like new, but something that is
- 7:07Speaker 1: like definitively like uniquely Enumclaub very cool.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Remember before you let you go, I've got a new
- 7:15Speaker 2: segment that I've introduced for I basically troll through your
- 7:18Speaker 2: Facebook page. I come up with a couple of photos
- 7:20Speaker 2: and issue you with a please explain it all right,
- 7:24Speaker 2: So I've got the first one for you. Here, This
- 7:31Speaker 2: one now that looks to me like death by drum Sick.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't know why. He has the drumstick in
- 7:40Speaker 1: his hand. He's got a histue with it. Yeah, but
- 7:46Speaker 1: this is an Amsterdam and we during one of our songs,
- 7:54Speaker 1: the band cuts out and I'm playing guitar by myself,
- 7:58Speaker 1: and this is our rhythm section, and obviously La Daniel
- 8:01Speaker 1: with the drumstick is the drummer, and Eli here is
- 8:04Speaker 1: our bass player. And they like to jump in the
- 8:06Speaker 1: crowd and kind of stir things up. But I didn't
- 8:12Speaker 1: even I've never even seen this photo. I feel like, uh, yeah,
- 8:17Speaker 1: maybe they were about to fight and I was too
- 8:20Speaker 1: busy playing the guitar to notice.
- 8:22Speaker 2: It looks like like a child that's been whipped too
- 8:24Speaker 2: many times.
- 8:25Speaker 1: He's cowering in front of the drugs. I didn't all right,
- 8:30Speaker 1: And then we got this next one.
- 8:32Speaker 2: I want to know, how did you fit so many
- 8:34Speaker 2: people into that van?
- 8:36Speaker 1: Dude? What's craziest? Half of the people in this photo
- 8:40Speaker 1: did ride in this van? All tour?
- 8:42Speaker 2: Wow?
- 8:44Speaker 1: But yeah, this is from This is the coolest thing
- 8:47Speaker 1: I think we've done as a band so far. This
- 8:49Speaker 1: is like the trip. It was this tour we did
- 8:51Speaker 1: at the end of the summer last year, and it
- 8:53Speaker 1: was it was Enumclaw, this band, Hotline, T and T,
- 9:00Speaker 1: this bag or this band. They're getting a body of
- 9:03Speaker 1: water sword to in Toner And this is like the
- 9:08Speaker 1: end of tour. Like this is everybody who was at
- 9:11Speaker 1: the show? Wow? Five bands? All right, right, well that's
- 9:16Speaker 1: what we got time for today.
- 9:17Speaker 2: The album Home in Another Life is out now available
- 9:20Speaker 2: an All Good Record Outlets, and hopefully we see it
- 9:22Speaker 2: out on this side of the world one day in the.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Future, right, yes, hopefully sooner than later. I take care.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Let you get to bed now, right, all right?
- 9:33Speaker 2: You take care?
- 9:34Speaker 1: Thank you the only father girl.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Listen, No, I'm going thought get you. If I could
- 10:09Speaker 3: always stay go out to scan of be true to
- 10:15Speaker 3: Scampy the true to Scampy, true to Scampy true. Why
- 10:42Speaker 3: where it be? With thout of my I can't tell
- 10:46Speaker 3: the oldy?
- 10:48Speaker 1: So how can be for for get.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Me when he telling me? What you say? To Scan
- 10:57Speaker 3: be the true, the scad of dread true, the scan
- 11:04Speaker 3: a breed true, the scar of being true. Not just
- 11:14Speaker 3: as we're not just ass we're not just as we're
- 11:25Speaker 3: not just as
