- 0:10Speaker 1: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark Review podcast. I'm Megan,
- 0:13Speaker 1: and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy. I'm a
- 0:16Speaker 1: former Hallmark hater. Sorry, I have a dog here who's
- 0:20Speaker 1: beating her tail on the chair on today's episode. Hi, sweetie. Here,
- 0:29Speaker 1: you want to come sit up here? Oh, see, now
- 0:30Speaker 1: you've activated the other one, too. She's going to come
- 0:33Speaker 1: over here. Come here. All right, ladies, go take a nap.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Go lay down. Come on. On today's episode, we're discussing
- 0:39Speaker 1: Love Finds You, the first Fall Into Love movie from
- 0:43Speaker 1: Hallmark in 2026, which originally aired on August 22nd, 2026. God,
- 0:50Speaker 1: can you believe that? Fall, August. Here we are. I
- 0:53Speaker 1: told my husband, I was like, here we go. It's
- 0:55Speaker 1: the first fall movie of the season. Fall-ish. Let's go.
- 1:00Speaker 1: 100 degrees outside. Ugh. Don't get me started. I wanted
- 1:06Speaker 1: to like cozy up on the couch with a blanket.
- 1:08Speaker 1: I did. I cranked the AC. I did. Put on
- 1:12Speaker 1: a pumpkin smelling candle. Oh my gosh. They have these
- 1:16Speaker 1: Lola blanket dupes at Walmart and they're so good. And
- 1:20Speaker 1: I can't spend $ 300 on a blanket. So I want
- 1:22Speaker 1: this $ 20 one so bad. Yeah. Anyway, it's fall y'all.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Let's talk love finds you. Hit me with a synopsis.
- 1:30Speaker 1: A mislabeled package convinces jewelry designer Alex she's found her
- 1:36Speaker 1: ideal man, sending her and delivery driver Jack on a
- 1:40Speaker 1: citywide search that helps them discover what they truly want.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Remember when we did our first impressions, which I recently
- 1:48Speaker 1: listened to and really laughed? Yeah. I can't remember what
- 1:52Speaker 1: was so funny about it, though, but I laughed. Yeah.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Listening back. Anyway. We're a good time. You had asked like,
- 2:01Speaker 1: what could be in this package? Yeah. That was so,
- 2:04Speaker 1: and I was thinking it was jewelry related. Yeah. You know,
- 2:08Speaker 1: it wasn't. Oh, don't you worry. Okay. Ava Tavares directed
- 2:12Speaker 1: this film. Hallmark fans may recognize her name from the
- 2:14Speaker 1: other side of the camera as she has acted in
- 2:16Speaker 1: a pile of Hallmark movies. But she came up through
- 2:19Speaker 1: Hallmark's Make Her Mark program for female directors, made her
- 2:22Speaker 1: directorial debut with last year's The Christmas Baby, followed it
- 2:25Speaker 1: with Texas Two-Step this past June. She also appears in
- 2:29Speaker 1: the cast of An Easter Bloom, which happened to be
- 2:30Speaker 1: Amy Teegarden's most recent Hallmark movie. Oh, that was a
- 2:33Speaker 1: while ago. Charlie Shanahan and Sherry Simpson. That's a lot
- 2:39Speaker 1: of S's, guys. They share a writing credit. The two
- 2:42Speaker 1: have been writing partners for years across theater, film, and TV.
- 2:46Speaker 1: They wrote the Disney Channel movie The Swap together, and
- 2:49Speaker 1: their previous Hallmark credit is Color My World with Love
- 2:52Speaker 1: from 2022. Amy T. Garden stars as Alex. This is
- 2:56Speaker 1: her first Hallmark movie since An Easter Bloom in spring
- 3:00Speaker 1: 2024 and only her second since 2022. Hallmark fans know
- 3:03Speaker 1: her from My Christmas Family Tree and A New Year's
- 3:06Speaker 1: Resolution and everyone else knows her as Julie Taylor on
- 3:08Speaker 1: Friday Night Lights. Chris McNally stars as Jack. The Wind
- 3:12Speaker 1: Calls the Heart stars having a moment this fall. He's
- 3:15Speaker 1: in this movie as well as Another fall into love
- 3:20Speaker 1: movie later this year, starring alongside his real life partner,
- 3:23Speaker 1: Julie Gonzalo. Fun bit of trivia, this movie was shopped
- 3:28Speaker 1: around under the working title Return to Sender before they
- 3:31Speaker 1: landed on Love Finds You. Hey, Winnie, what was your
- 3:35Speaker 1: first impression of Love Finds You? Well, this was no
- 3:42Speaker 1: unexpected Valentine's. My first impression is, I'm not sure who
- 3:45Speaker 1: the true star of this movie is, Irina or Chris
- 3:49Speaker 1: McNally's Flowing Locks. Look, shout out to his hair. Shout
- 3:53Speaker 1: out to his hair. Even my husband was like, man,
- 3:54Speaker 1: that guy's got good hair. Good hair. And it grows
- 3:57Speaker 1: really fast. It's all relative because we don't know when
- 4:01Speaker 1: things are filmed and when they're not. But he's had
- 4:03Speaker 1: short hair and long hair and everywhere in between. And
- 4:06Speaker 1: I enjoy it. Well, Amy T. Gardner was asked whether
- 4:10Speaker 1: Chris McNally has the best hair of anyone on Hallmark.
- 4:12Speaker 1: And her answer was, his hair is a situation. What
- 4:15Speaker 1: does that mean? I think in a good way. I
- 4:17Speaker 1: fear if y'all like this movie, you might not like
- 4:21Speaker 1: my review of it. Okay. Tell me what you liked. Well,
- 4:25Speaker 1: I liked Chris McNally. He's super watchable for me. He
- 4:29Speaker 1: is the only bright spot in this movie. But I
- 4:35Speaker 1: had a hard... This is a like wrapped up in
- 4:38Speaker 1: a wish. I have a hard time believing that Chris McNally,
- 4:42Speaker 1: who's got this warm, genuine smile, is a curmudgeon. Yeah.
- 4:47Speaker 1: I could not buy into it. There was... Nope, not happening.
- 4:51Speaker 1: It was not... believing what you're trying to tell me.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Also..
- 4:56Speaker 1: I think that this material felt beneath him a little bit. Oh, wow.
- 5:05Speaker 1: You really couldn't even stick to one full like. You're
- 5:08Speaker 1: straight into wishes. Oh, you're right. I liked him so much.
- 5:14Speaker 1: You wanted better for him. The man deserves a better movie.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Tea for two? Is that what it was called? Two
- 5:21Speaker 1: for tea. Two for tea. He was so freaking charming
- 5:25Speaker 1: in that movie, and he played this, like, dad to
- 5:29Speaker 1: a teenager. Tween, and, like, just complete— with a good script,
- 5:35Speaker 1: he's so good. Like, this was not great. He was, like,
- 5:41Speaker 1: punching below his weight. Is that the— I don't think, actually,
- 5:44Speaker 1: that's what that means at all. Oh, damn. Yeah, that's,
- 5:48Speaker 1: as I'm like, that's not, doesn't work. But the material
- 5:52Speaker 1: was beneath him is my point. Okay. All right, all right.
- 5:55Speaker 1: I'm going to defend the burn and yearn or whatever
- 5:57Speaker 1: it was called that they did. Fire and aspire.
- 6:00Speaker 2: I loved it.
- 6:01Speaker 1: It's my number one like. Burn and yearn is better though, right?
- 6:04Speaker 1: It's kind of a different movie. But, um. It's your
- 6:09Speaker 1: number one like? I really liked it. Okay, let me
- 6:12Speaker 1: hear why. Well, I like that she walks through the
- 6:15Speaker 1: personality flaws for exes, and then she reframes that into...
- 6:20Speaker 1: something that she wants for herself. I actually thought that
- 6:23Speaker 1: was clever writing. Me too. I thought it was a
- 6:25Speaker 1: clever way to reframe it. And there was, it was
- 6:27Speaker 1: couched in humor about like the flaws of these guys,
- 6:30Speaker 1: like Noah, the neophyte or whatever, neophile. And like they're
- 6:34Speaker 1: playing Pat Benatar and they're having a good time. I
- 6:36Speaker 1: thought it was fun. I thought it was honestly the
- 6:38Speaker 1: highlight of the movie for me. Same. I liked the
- 6:41Speaker 1: premise there. I'm into it. You know, there's like a
- 6:44Speaker 1: Friends moment where they like, you know, burn all their
- 6:47Speaker 1: stuff from their exes and they have like kind of
- 6:49Speaker 1: a similar. I have to assume it was inspired by that.
- 6:51Speaker 1: I have absolutely no idea. But writer Charlie is certainly
- 6:54Speaker 1: of an age to have been influenced by Friends. Oh, 100%.
- 6:57Speaker 1: So that's what it was giving to me. But I
- 7:00Speaker 1: thought it was a good time. Yeah, I've seen some
- 7:03Speaker 1: criticism about this scene. Too cheesy? No. No, that people
- 7:08Speaker 1: have a home with a manifestation ritual of it all. Oh, God.
- 7:11Speaker 1: And I'm just like... Get out. It's not that serious, guys. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 7:15Speaker 1: This is basically like... Like it's witchcraft or something? Yes. Oh, no.
- 7:19Speaker 1: This is a girl's night with a fire and these
- 7:21Speaker 1: people are bitching about... Burning your ex's old stuff. I
- 7:25Speaker 1: thought it was fun, and I thought that was probably
- 7:28Speaker 1: the best scene of the whole movie. Yeah, I mean, like...
- 7:31Speaker 1: More of that energy. Why can't we say out loud, like,
- 7:34Speaker 1: this is what I want for myself? Yeah. Like, I
- 7:37Speaker 1: don't think it's like... Look, we're going to get into
- 7:39Speaker 1: the almost magical realism of this movie that's actually a
- 7:43Speaker 1: huge miss, but that doesn't actually... When you take a
- 7:47Speaker 1: step back and look at this movie for what it is,
- 7:49Speaker 1: that manifestation, there's no... All it is is Alex finally
- 7:55Speaker 1: saying to herself, like, I've been choosing the wrong guys. Like,
- 7:57Speaker 1: I need someone who is all of these things. It's
- 8:00Speaker 1: actually quite pure. Right. Okay. What else did you like?
- 8:04Speaker 1: I like that Hallmark... I mean, it's a fall-ish movie. Like,
- 8:11Speaker 1: I like that it's not Save the Bakery or whatever.
- 8:14Speaker 1: And I'm sure we'll get there later, this lineup. Yeah, yeah.
- 8:18Speaker 2: But..
- 8:19Speaker 1: I kind of like this fun idea of like this
- 8:21Speaker 1: almost magical realism situation. It's just the execution of it
- 8:25Speaker 1: is like, like the idea was there. It was almost there.
- 8:29Speaker 1: When I get to my wishes, we got something to
- 8:32Speaker 1: talk about. Look, I loved Irina. I really did. I
- 8:36Speaker 1: thought she was really fun. She reminded me of like
- 8:39Speaker 1: other comedic characters. I like that she's like something about
- 8:43Speaker 1: her worked for me. I like that they had this
- 8:45Speaker 1: little bit of a rivalry. I like that she turns
- 8:47Speaker 1: out to be like, I'm going to renovate your truck. Yes.
- 8:50Speaker 1: They're all on the same team. Some other small moments.
- 8:54Speaker 1: I loved the throwaway line about natural deodorant. Oh, I
- 8:58Speaker 1: thought that was funny too. I thought that was funny too.
- 9:00Speaker 1: I do like the fact that this story mostly unfolds
- 9:03Speaker 1: across a single day. When we tell these 82 minute movies,
- 9:07Speaker 1: sometimes it's hard to tell a story that spans time.
- 9:10Speaker 1: And I think that one day structure works well for
- 9:12Speaker 1: what we have available to us. And I like the
- 9:15Speaker 1: hint of magical realism until they let me down. Okay.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Let's take a break and come back to talk about
- 9:29Speaker 1: our wishes. Can I just kick this off really quickly? Absolutely.
- 9:34Speaker 1: When Alex opens that package and there's all of these
- 9:37Speaker 1: items that hint at the perfect man that she has
- 9:41Speaker 1: somehow actually manifested, it felt like a gift from the universe. Mm-hmm.
- 9:47Speaker 1: And I was like, yes, I can get down with this.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Some other force almost like has hot frostied this man
- 9:57Speaker 1: into her life. Yeah. That's what I was envisioning. Like
- 10:00Speaker 1: she had created this person through her manifestation. Yeah. And
- 10:04Speaker 1: then that's not what we get at all. And then dot, dot, dot.
- 10:08Speaker 1: It's just this wild goose chase that doesn't even make sense.
- 10:12Speaker 1: That's my other biggest wish through the city to find
- 10:15Speaker 1: this other Alex who has, I guess, ordered all this
- 10:18Speaker 1: random stuff. The other thing, and I got to say it,
- 10:22Speaker 1: the address mix-up makes no sense. I don't understand. They
- 10:26Speaker 1: made it seem like the guy at the delivery company
- 10:29Speaker 1: had mislabeled it. Uh-huh. That's not how deliveries work. I know,
- 10:33Speaker 1: I know, I know. Like, this gift company or whoever
- 10:36Speaker 1: he had ordered from with the purple box doesn't put, like,
- 10:39Speaker 1: a Post-it note that says, like, Alex on it, send
- 10:42Speaker 1: it to the shipping company, and the shipping company is like, oh... okay,
- 10:45Speaker 1: Alex Brown, it's this one. And that's not how it works.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Do you think they chose purple box for Hallmark? Oh,
- 10:51Speaker 1: maybe for Hallmark. Maybe. I just kept getting so caught
- 10:55Speaker 1: up in the, this misdirected package doesn't make any sense
- 10:59Speaker 1: to me because in theory, the other Alex Brown would
- 11:01Speaker 1: have ordered it and typed in his address. Yes. Yeah. Like,
- 11:05Speaker 1: the company, if I go to Amazon and I type
- 11:08Speaker 1: in my name, they're not like, oh, let me just
- 11:10Speaker 1: pull up the addresses of all these other Megans and
- 11:12Speaker 1: ship it to one of them. Right, right. I really
- 11:15Speaker 1: was stuck in the weeds on this one. Because it
- 11:17Speaker 1: doesn't make sense. It doesn't. Tell me some of your wishes.
- 11:22Speaker 1: I just needed to care more about this premise because
- 11:25Speaker 1: this whole movie, I don't care about who this package
- 11:28Speaker 1: belongs to. Like, I'm not rooting for Alex to find
- 11:31Speaker 1: her other Alex at all. And then I don't care
- 11:39Speaker 1: about her realizing that, what's his name? Jack? Yeah. That
- 11:44Speaker 1: like she's into Jack either. Like I just don't care.
- 11:47Speaker 1: I don't care. And then this is going to lead
- 11:49Speaker 1: me into Amy Teagarden's performance does not work for me here.
- 11:54Speaker 1: I'm going to tread lightly because I'm not trying to like,
- 11:58Speaker 1: you know, I got to separate whatever. I'm just not
- 12:02Speaker 1: a huge fan. Mm-hmm. And I've tried. I liked her
- 12:07Speaker 1: as Julie Taylor on Friday Night Lights, but every Hallmark
- 12:10Speaker 1: movie she's done after that has never really landed for me,
- 12:13Speaker 1: except for that My Family Christmas Tree or whatever it was,
- 12:16Speaker 1: which I may have to go back and watch because
- 12:18Speaker 1: I don't remember feeling such, like, visceral, like, dislike. No,
- 12:22Speaker 1: we liked that movie. I think. The way that she
- 12:26Speaker 1: played this character... Of Alex really bothered me. There was
- 12:31Speaker 1: like a lot of stammering and exaggeration and she came
- 12:35Speaker 1: off as very not confident and it bothered me. It
- 12:41Speaker 1: just bothered me. I just, it felt so performative and
- 12:44Speaker 1: not like. quirky and cute. And she's supposed to be
- 12:48Speaker 1: like Miss Sunshine compared to his curmudgeon. And I didn't
- 12:52Speaker 1: really see that either. And if I was a delivery
- 12:55Speaker 1: man and my person was leaving me all these post-it
- 12:58Speaker 1: notes too, I think I would be grouchy as well.
- 13:01Speaker 1: When he's like, ugh, post-it note lady. Or he didn't
- 13:03Speaker 1: call her post-it note lady, but he was like, ugh,
- 13:05Speaker 1: note lady. I loved it. Yeah. I love that. But
- 13:09Speaker 1: I don't know. And I just... Thought it was such
- 13:13Speaker 1: a mismatch in casting. I didn't see zero chemistry between
- 13:18Speaker 1: these two. Zero. This movie did not redeem Amy Teagarden
- 13:22Speaker 1: in your eyes. Nah. I have some other wishes. The
- 13:26Speaker 1: delivery driver rating contest. Do people rate their delivery drivers? No. Ever? Never.
- 13:31Speaker 1: I get a lot of deliveries. Never once. There might
- 13:34Speaker 1: be a rating on the Amazon app. I've literally never once.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Like I've rated a DoorDash delivery probably, right? So make
- 13:41Speaker 1: this guy a DoorDash delivery guy. But then like- But
- 13:44Speaker 1: like I'm not rating my UPS guy. No. I just,
- 13:47Speaker 1: I was like, but this isn't real. None of this
- 13:50Speaker 1: is real. No. And I get that, like, he was
- 13:53Speaker 1: trying to help his sister out. Right? He's trying to
- 13:55Speaker 1: help his sister out. Is that what he was going
- 13:57Speaker 1: to do with the money? Paris is always a good idea.
- 14:00Speaker 1: What was he going to do with the money? I think,
- 14:02Speaker 1: I thought he was going to help his sister. But
- 14:04Speaker 1: then he gives it to Alex to renovate the truck.
- 14:07Speaker 1: He needed the money for something. And then, I'm fully
- 14:11Speaker 1: drawing a blank what it was, but then he gives
- 14:13Speaker 1: the money to Alex because they renovate, they turn it
- 14:15Speaker 1: into her jewelry truck. Which I actually think is a
- 14:18Speaker 1: cute idea. There's a There's a cute little bookstore. Have
- 14:22Speaker 1: you seen it on TikTok? I think it's up at
- 14:25Speaker 1: the lab and it operates out of a truck and
- 14:26Speaker 1: it's very cute. And she like pops it up every day.
- 14:30Speaker 1: I like that idea. No, not a bookstore. I've seen
- 14:32Speaker 1: they have a vinyl, like a record store that does
- 14:35Speaker 1: the same sort of thing. Oh, cute. I think this
- 14:37Speaker 1: one's a bookstore. Anyway, I like the truck idea. However...
- 14:42Speaker 1: It did seem like so cramped in there that I
- 14:44Speaker 1: was like, if that were me having to like go
- 14:46Speaker 1: look at Jewel, I'd be like, bleh. Yeah, totally. Yeah. Nope.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Don't want to do that. Don't enjoy that. Also, it
- 14:53Speaker 1: is fall in this movie in decor only. And clothing.
- 14:58Speaker 1: And clothing. Like lots of jewel tones, lots of oranges.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Even the curtains in Jack's apartment are orange. No, stop it. Which, no,
- 15:05Speaker 1: that's not a thing that we're doing. No. I thought
- 15:08Speaker 1: Amy Teagarden's character was cute. She was wearing like this
- 15:10Speaker 1: cute like brownish blouse with like a brown suede jacket.
- 15:14Speaker 1: And at one time she's like, I'm hot. I'm sweating.
- 15:16Speaker 1: I'm hot. And she's making him like wave under her.
- 15:19Speaker 1: She's lifting the butt. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh,
- 15:21Speaker 1: my God. That actually made me laugh. Take your jacket off.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Let's talk. Did you see that? I only have one.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Alex's friend. She operated at 11. She was too much
- 15:32Speaker 1: for me. Her name was Megan. I forgot. Too much
- 15:35Speaker 1: for me. She finds her true love. Middle school energy. Cannot.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Do women, grown women, I don't operate. Have you ever
- 15:48Speaker 1: seen me get all like, what? I mean, maybe when
- 15:52Speaker 1: we saw Chris Palaha on the cruise, but other than that... Yeah,
- 15:56Speaker 1: I have a video of you literally jumping up and
- 15:57Speaker 1: down when I told you he was going to be
- 15:59Speaker 1: at the Kansas City Experience. You're right. But those are
- 16:02Speaker 1: few and far between. Sure, sure, sure. Sure, sure, sure. Because...
- 16:07Speaker 1: I don't act like that. But it just was a lot.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Maybe it was just me and my headspace, too. I
- 16:12Speaker 1: was like, I can't. These people are unbelievable. Well, there's
- 16:16Speaker 1: an entire Bobo brand universe happening in this movie. We
- 16:20Speaker 1: have faux TikTok, which is PicBite. We have Bobo Instagram,
- 16:24Speaker 1: which is Flickgram. We have Dinner Dash, the fake food
- 16:27Speaker 1: delivery app. And then, of course, we have the faux
- 16:29Speaker 1: delivery service, Bobo Amazon. I mean, they created a whole
- 16:33Speaker 1: universe and I'm just not sure why we need to.
- 16:35Speaker 1: I understand maybe why we can't use like an actual
- 16:38Speaker 1: delivery service, but can we not use TikTok and Instagram?
- 16:41Speaker 1: Like it just makes me feel like a child when
- 16:44Speaker 1: they're like, oh, post it on PicBite. Yeah, I hate
- 16:46Speaker 1: that too. The other thing is, this is our second
- 16:50Speaker 1: movie in a row. We have very much graduated from
- 16:53Speaker 1: the quick, Hallmark kiss at the end to a full
- 16:56Speaker 1: blown sweeping make out. Yeah. Aussie at heart did it too,
- 17:00Speaker 1: where they're just like making out in front of those fireworks.
- 17:02Speaker 1: And in this movie, they're making out in two different scenes.
- 17:05Speaker 1: There's a lot. And the camera's like swirling around them
- 17:07Speaker 1: and there's hands buried in hair. They just are all
- 17:11Speaker 1: over each other. And it's a whole thing. Real shift.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Sometimes I'm not, I'm not really into it. I like
- 17:17Speaker 1: more nuance, I think. Yeah. You want a hair tuck?
- 17:21Speaker 1: Give me a hair tuck. Give me a chair pull.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Give me a zip the zipper up. You know what
- 17:28Speaker 1: I mean? Like I just don't need like a, and
- 17:30Speaker 1: now a sweeping greatest day ever fireworks sort of. Sure. Sure. Sure.
- 17:37Speaker 1: It's one day. It's one day in this timeline here.
- 17:40Speaker 1: I'm like, come on. I mean, sure. I've kissed somebody
- 17:43Speaker 1: I met in like one day, but I also probably
- 17:46Speaker 1: had 12 beers, too. You know what I mean? And
- 17:49Speaker 1: I was very young. So, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 17:54Speaker 1: This was such a disappointment to kick off the fall time. Yeah,
- 17:58Speaker 1: I was just thinking about how in our first impression episode,
- 18:02Speaker 1: we rated our top three. And this did not crack
- 18:06Speaker 1: the top three for either of us. And upon watching,
