- 0:00Speaker 1: Chapter twenty two, the downward course. He who says what
- 0:07Speaker 1: is not goes to hell. He also, who having done
- 0:13Speaker 1: a thing, says I have not done it. After death,
- 0:18Speaker 1: both are equal. They are men with evil deeds. In
- 0:22Speaker 1: the next world. Many men whose shoulders are covered with
- 0:28Speaker 1: the yellow gown are ill conditioned and unrestrained. Such evil doers,
- 0:35Speaker 1: by their evil deeds, go to hell. Better it would
- 0:41Speaker 1: be to swallow a heated iron ball like flaring fire,
- 0:47Speaker 1: than that a bad, unrestrained fellow should live on the
- 0:51Speaker 1: charity of the land. Four things does a reckless man
- 0:58Speaker 1: gain who covets his neighbor's wife a bad reputation, an
- 1:03Speaker 1: uncomfortable bed, thirdly punishment, and lastly hell. There is bad
- 1:13Speaker 1: reputation and the evil way to hell. There is the
- 1:18Speaker 1: short pleasure of the frightened in the arms of the frightened,
- 1:22Speaker 1: and the king imposes heavy punishment. Therefore, let no man
- 1:28Speaker 1: think of his neighbor's wife as a grass blade, if
- 1:35Speaker 1: badly grasped cuts the arm. Badly practiced asceticism leads to hell.
- 1:44Speaker 1: An act carelessly performed, a broken vow, and hesitating obedience
- 1:50Speaker 1: to discipline. All this brings no great reward. If anything
- 1:58Speaker 1: is to be done, let a man do it. Let
- 2:02Speaker 1: him attack it vigorously. A careless pilgrim only scatters the
- 2:07Speaker 1: dust of his passions. More widely, an evil deed is
- 2:14Speaker 1: better left undone, for a man repents of it afterwards.
- 2:19Speaker 1: A good deed is better done for having done it,
- 2:23Speaker 1: one does not repent like a well guarded frontier, fought
- 2:30Speaker 1: with defenses within and without. So Let a man god himself.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Not a moment should escape, For they who allow the
- 2:42Speaker 1: right moment to pass suffer pain when they are in hell.
- 2:49Speaker 1: They who are ashamed of what they ought not to
- 2:52Speaker 1: be ashamed of, and are not ashamed of what they
- 2:55Speaker 1: ought to be ashamed of. Such men, in braining false
- 3:00Speaker 1: doctrines enter the evil path. They who fear when they
- 3:07Speaker 1: ought not to fear, and fear not when they ought
- 3:12Speaker 1: to fear. Such men embracing false doctrines enter the evil path.
- 3:22Speaker 1: They who forbid when there is nothing to be forbidden,
- 3:26Speaker 1: and forbid not when there is something to be forbidden.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Such men embracing false doctrines enter the evil path. They
- 3:39Speaker 1: who know what is forbidden as forbidden, and what is
- 3:43Speaker 1: not forbidden as not forbidden. Such men embracing the true doctrine.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Enter the good path. End of chapter twenty two,
