- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome the Money and Wealth with John O'Briant, a production
- 0:03Speaker 1: of the Black Effect Podcast Network and iHeartRadio. Hey, Hey, Hey,
- 0:14Speaker 1: it's John O'Briant, and this is the Money in Wealth
- 0:18Speaker 1: podcast series. I'm broadcasting podcasting live to you from halfway
- 0:27Speaker 1: around the world and Malai wai. But I'm still thinking
- 0:30Speaker 1: about you. I'm still thinking about how to change your life.
- 0:35Speaker 1: And I could not pass up this opportunity to ignite
- 0:45Speaker 1: a fire because this is a Black Business Month at
- 0:53Speaker 1: a time where black businesses probably feel and black people
- 0:57Speaker 1: probably feel incredibly challenged. And I may be halfway around
- 1:03Speaker 1: the world, but my heart is right there with you,
- 1:05Speaker 1: and so is iHeartRadio, and so is Charlemagne that God,
- 1:10Speaker 1: and so is Black Effect Network. And so we've come
- 1:14Speaker 1: together to create some tips for you this month. Please
- 1:17Speaker 1: download them check them out there. One minute hits really
- 1:22Speaker 1: trying to help you to create a rainbow out of
- 1:26Speaker 1: the storm. To the government has basically said you're on
- 1:31Speaker 1: your own. And the good news about that is, well,
- 1:37Speaker 1: your mindset should be your on your own, and so
- 1:41Speaker 1: now you have little choice but to frame that vision
- 1:44Speaker 1: for yourself. So let us help you help yourself to
- 1:48Speaker 1: become self reliant, which everybody wants, but most notably it
- 1:52Speaker 1: should be you. So this is not anything other than
- 1:57Speaker 1: straight laced advice about how you take control of your
- 2:02Speaker 1: life wherever you happen to be. I'm going to break
- 2:04Speaker 1: down in the next few weeks in August, but also
- 2:08Speaker 1: woman that is going to bleed into September from a
- 2:11Speaker 1: serious perspective. I'm gonna get into how to start a business.
- 2:16Speaker 1: I'm going to make it really basic, how to buy
- 2:20Speaker 1: a home, and this episode from hustling to holdings, turning
- 2:26Speaker 1: street smarts into generational wealth. Tell all your friends to
- 2:33Speaker 1: check this out. I'm gonna meet you where you are.
- 2:35Speaker 1: To quote my friend Tim Burt, who's a recent guest
- 2:38Speaker 1: on my podcast, We're gonna put this where the goats
- 2:41Speaker 1: can get it. That's an old Southern tale, Southern saying
- 2:45Speaker 1: that says basically, wherever you are in life, you'll be
- 2:48Speaker 1: to relate to this and pick it up and use
- 2:50Speaker 1: it because I used to be there, Because I always
- 2:53Speaker 1: want you. So this episode here, I want you to
- 2:58Speaker 1: tell all your cousins, your friends, this is for the
- 3:00Speaker 1: least of these God's children. That was me, by the way.
- 3:04Speaker 1: This is for those who have too much month at
- 3:07Speaker 1: the end of their money. This is for those who
- 3:10Speaker 1: have been doing so much with so little for so long.
- 3:12Speaker 1: They now know they can almost do anything with nothing.
- 3:16Speaker 1: This is for those who have had to take no
- 3:19Speaker 1: for vitamins their entire life. This is for those who
- 3:23Speaker 1: may have done some time in prison in the penitentiary.
- 3:28Speaker 1: This is for those who may have done made some
- 3:30Speaker 1: mistakes along the way. Maybe it was in prison or
- 3:32Speaker 1: that other thing of crime. But maybe you cut some corners,
- 3:37Speaker 1: maybe you did some things you weren't so proud of.
- 3:39Speaker 1: But now you want to legitimize all that talent that
- 3:42Speaker 1: God gave you. I'm gonna help you out. I'm gonna
- 3:45Speaker 1: meet you where you are. I have said publicly, I've
- 3:48Speaker 1: said here a drug dealer is legal and unethical as
- 3:51Speaker 1: a business. It's not a legitimate business, and it won't sustain.
- 3:56Speaker 1: There are no retired drug dealers. But what a drug
- 3:59Speaker 1: dealer is not is dumb. A successful drug dealer. I
- 4:05Speaker 1: know that's an oxymoron. But a successful drug dealer understands import, export, finance, marketing, wholesale, retail,
- 4:13Speaker 1: customer service, security, territory, and logistics. They understand customer service.
- 4:21Speaker 1: They understand global markets. These are not dumb people. These
- 4:25Speaker 1: are very very smart people who just were planted in
- 4:29Speaker 1: the wrong soil. As I've said, if you hang around
- 4:32Speaker 1: nine bro people, you'll probably be the tenth. So they did.
- 4:37Speaker 1: They were born in the wrong zip code, They didn't
- 4:38Speaker 1: know the right affluent friends, whatever, did not have the hookup. Right.
- 4:42Speaker 1: They ended up in this situation, right, because a lot
- 4:45Speaker 1: of people ended up in a situation who've legitimized themselves
- 4:49Speaker 1: and becoming vastly successful, right, a lot of them you
- 4:53Speaker 1: know from the rap game. Right. But I'm gonna I
- 4:56Speaker 1: want to make this personal and then I'm gonna get
- 4:58Speaker 1: into the details of the how and this these these
- 5:02Speaker 1: these examples, I'm gonna give you any suggestions. Applies to everybody.
- 5:05Speaker 1: You have a college degree, this applies to you. You
- 5:07Speaker 1: can be too smart for your own good. Yes, I
- 5:10Speaker 1: said it. Being smart and being intelligent, having college degrees
- 5:15Speaker 1: and all this stuff is beautiful, but it's not enough.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I know a lot, as Ambachlor young Ones told me,
- 5:21Speaker 1: I we he knows a lot of educated fools. So
- 5:25Speaker 1: PhDs are good, PhDs are even better. You want to
- 5:29Speaker 1: do to have both, right, and you got to hustle
- 5:32Speaker 1: you got to execute, you got to a customer. An
- 5:36Speaker 1: idea without a customer next to it. So it says
- 5:38Speaker 1: my friend Jim Clifton of Gallop, is is just a dream.
- 5:42Speaker 1: It's not. It's just an idea, all right, a dream,
- 5:46Speaker 1: an idea with a customer without a customer next to it.
- 5:48Speaker 1: It's just an idea. It's a dream. It's a fantasy, right,
- 5:51Speaker 1: It's not a business. And the good thing about this
- 5:55Speaker 1: category of folks I'm talking about it is that they
- 5:57Speaker 1: really have figured out the most important part, which is
- 5:59Speaker 1: the execute. They figured out how to to move on
- 6:03Speaker 1: their dreams. They just had the wrong dreams. So make
- 6:06Speaker 1: this very personal. I was growing up in comflin California,
- 6:11Speaker 1: and with my mother and I had decided I wanted
- 6:16Speaker 1: to start a business and I it was a I know,
- 6:20Speaker 1: I remember, it was a Pela and a less, a
- 6:22Speaker 1: sports way sportswear business. And before that, well, in order
- 6:27Speaker 1: to get some inventory, I need some money, and so
- 6:31Speaker 1: I borrowed some money from this neighborhood lender, gangster Okay
- 6:36Speaker 1: and brother and I went. I was buying this inventory
- 6:42Speaker 1: U Feeland less a sportswear from Mexico. I'd gone over
- 6:45Speaker 1: the the the border in the southern from southern California.
- 6:50Speaker 1: I don't know where I was living in Contort, South
- 6:52Speaker 1: Centrare at this time. Anyway, I've gone over. I'd gone
- 6:54Speaker 1: over the border in Mexico border bought legitimate feeland or
- 6:58Speaker 1: less a sportswear because I really lies the people who
- 7:00Speaker 1: are getting locked up so are getting sued, and some
- 7:03Speaker 1: of them getting locked up were selling knockoff goods, you know,
- 7:08Speaker 1: fraudulent goods. So they're being sued to death and they're
- 7:11Speaker 1: being locked up that I wasn't feeling that. I'm not
- 7:14Speaker 1: going to jail, prison, jail, none of it right, and
- 7:17Speaker 1: I don't want to be sued. So I figured out
- 7:19Speaker 1: that there were I did some research, this is before
- 7:21Speaker 1: the internet, did some research and found out there was
- 7:23Speaker 1: a legitimate license for a lesse sportswear and Fila fi La.
- 7:28Speaker 1: You didn't know that it was huge brands back in
- 7:30Speaker 1: the day. There was Fela Talia right Phila Brasilia, Brazil,
- 7:35Speaker 1: and Phila Mexico, Mexico. Well, I was right next to Mexico.
- 7:40Speaker 1: So I went over the border and went and found
- 7:42Speaker 1: a legitimate Phila Mexico, Mexico store bought some of their
- 7:45Speaker 1: goods for a fraction of the price retail. Brought them
- 7:49Speaker 1: over because the license in Mexico was a different price point,
- 7:53Speaker 1: at least back then. Again, there was no internet back then,
- 7:55Speaker 1: so you couldn't price check. I was in my teens,
- 8:00Speaker 1: so brought him over in my car, sold him at
- 8:04Speaker 1: a markup still below what the retail was for feeling
- 8:07Speaker 1: a LSA in the United States. And it was in
- 8:13Speaker 1: my early twenties, late late teens, early twenties. I was
- 8:15Speaker 1: doing this business. And the short version of this particular
- 8:19Speaker 1: story is I'm gonna get back to the lender, but
- 8:22Speaker 1: the story is instructive. Also, I opened up a storefront,
- 8:27Speaker 1: this time in Beverly Hills on Pico Boulevard. And I
- 8:32Speaker 1: want to thank Kip Morrison, who I met through a
- 8:35Speaker 1: wealthy man named Harvey Baskin. I used to work for
- 8:38Speaker 1: who was the first billionaire but Maddy. He was worth
- 8:40Speaker 1: two hundred million back then, but the same thing, and
- 8:42Speaker 1: I was his assistant. I would have paid him to
- 8:45Speaker 1: work for him because I got I learned so much.
- 8:47Speaker 1: He introduced me to a number of people, including Kip Morrison.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Kip Morrison on the Public Relations Agency she had an office,
- 8:52Speaker 1: a small office, and I had a choice. I'm bouncing
- 8:57Speaker 1: around the stories, but this is when I ended up
- 8:59Speaker 1: being a homeless because I didn't I had five hundred
- 9:03Speaker 1: dollars a month, but I couldn't afford an apartment in
- 9:05Speaker 1: an office. So I decided to rent the office because
- 9:07Speaker 1: that might make me some money, and I would just
- 9:10Speaker 1: live in my jeep. I couldn't have it. There was
- 9:12Speaker 1: a choice lifestyle and flossing or financing and framing a future.
- 9:17Speaker 1: So that's I ended up homeless. Was I lived in
- 9:20Speaker 1: my jee because I couldn't afford only five dollars a month,
- 9:23Speaker 1: and I couldn't afford to do both. Anyway, Fela ended
- 9:26Speaker 1: up showing up to my office. Getting off track here,
- 9:28Speaker 1: but I think this is important. They showed up in
- 9:29Speaker 1: my office to expect because they heard I was selling
- 9:32Speaker 1: these goods. I had a full showroom, and they took
- 9:36Speaker 1: some products, Boston products, and said can we leave with this? Yeah? Sure,
- 9:40Speaker 1: paid for them, and they came back here a few
- 9:42Speaker 1: weeks later, not a couple of days later. They thought
- 9:44Speaker 1: they were going to bust me for illegal goods. They
- 9:46Speaker 1: came back to me a few weeks later and they
- 9:48Speaker 1: hit me with a with a lawyer letter then the
- 9:51Speaker 1: biggest law froom in the world, and essentially blah blah blah.
- 9:55Speaker 1: It sued me for unfair competition. So I went to
- 9:57Speaker 1: my newly minted lawyer, who didn't have a lawyer back then.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I hired a lawyer. What does this mean? They laughed.
- 10:02Speaker 1: The lawyer laughed and like, look, John, you're just smart,
- 10:05Speaker 1: like you've outwitted them. Like they didn't know what you
- 10:07Speaker 1: were doing. They thought it was legitimate, illegitimate, so they
- 10:09Speaker 1: suit you for an unfair competition because they didn't know
- 10:11Speaker 1: what else to do. Essentially going to put stick one
- 10:14Speaker 1: hundred attorneys on you, biggest law firm in the world
- 10:16Speaker 1: and going to just run you dry, run you into
- 10:19Speaker 1: the ground because they know they're big and they know
- 10:22Speaker 1: you're small, and you've outwitted them. What do they want
- 10:24Speaker 1: you to do is sign over this document saying you'll
- 10:26Speaker 1: never do this again, give them the rest of your inventory.
- 10:29Speaker 1: And I'm like, I'm not doing that. I've got my honor. No,
- 10:32Speaker 1: you don't want to be broke. You won, John, the
- 10:34Speaker 1: attorneys like you won. You out smarted one of the
- 10:37Speaker 1: biggest brands at that time. In the world and one
- 10:39Speaker 1: of the biggest law firms in the world. Just sign
- 10:42Speaker 1: the stupid document and move on. Otherwise they'll just kill
- 10:46Speaker 1: you in court with court fees, and unlike now, I
- 10:49Speaker 1: didn't have the resources I have now to fight a
- 10:51Speaker 1: good fight. So I signed it even though I was
- 10:54Speaker 1: doing nothing illegal, and moved on and did consider it
- 10:58Speaker 1: a huge success. That gave me enormous confidence. I had
- 11:02Speaker 1: gone up against one of the biggest brand's, biggest law
- 11:04Speaker 1: firms in the world and had won effectively. Okay, let
- 11:07Speaker 1: me back up in this story, because before all of that,
- 11:10Speaker 1: I was still back in the hood south central en Compton,
- 11:12Speaker 1: and this was back when I was selling it out
- 11:14Speaker 1: of my car and the neighborhood at financier Pooky and them, right, brother,
- 11:21Speaker 1: I remember him. I tried to pay him back after
- 11:24Speaker 1: I'd sold some goods and he was like, what are
- 11:25Speaker 1: you talking about. I'm your partner. Excuse me, No, No,
- 11:29Speaker 1: I just brought some money from you. And but by
- 11:31Speaker 1: the way, what's the interest? He's like, you notice I
- 11:33Speaker 1: didn't tell you what the repayment was, right, you know,
- 11:35Speaker 1: you don't pay a guy like me back. I'm your
- 11:37Speaker 1: partner for life, and he looked at me, He's like,
- 11:40Speaker 1: you know, you're not used to this game, like this
- 11:42Speaker 1: is not your deal. You know you're you're a good guy.
- 11:45Speaker 1: I can tell pay me my money back, give me
- 11:48Speaker 1: whatever he said his interest was, and never come here again.
- 11:51Speaker 1: I don't want to see you ever again. If I do,
- 11:56Speaker 1: you're got to be in trouble. And he saved my life.
- 11:59Speaker 1: These are a lot of people like this who who
- 12:01Speaker 1: I don't remember their names. But this guy who was
- 12:04Speaker 1: a neighborhood hudlum, neighborhood financier, right Nick, well, he it
- 12:08Speaker 1: was gangster. Let's just say it. Call it what it was.
- 12:10Speaker 1: But on this case occasion, he was a saint, and
- 12:13Speaker 1: a saint as a center that got up to quote
- 12:15Speaker 1: my father in law, doctor Dalton, we're all angels with
- 12:18Speaker 1: dirty faces faces. So that guy, because he would not
- 12:24Speaker 1: he did not decide to exercise his contract option in
- 12:29Speaker 1: his mind, which was I was going to be owned
- 12:31Speaker 1: by him for the rest of my life, will never
- 12:33Speaker 1: be to get myself out of that deal. He saw
- 12:35Speaker 1: talented me, and he saw authenticity in me and said
- 12:38Speaker 1: you need to go. You just need to get out
- 12:40Speaker 1: of here. You don't belong in the neighbor. I know
- 12:43Speaker 1: how he got into compt in South Central, right, right,
- 12:46Speaker 1: and I thank him for that, right And and so
- 12:48Speaker 1: I'm saying to you that this is a virtual hood
- 12:51Speaker 1: we're talking about. Like you know, you're not locked into
- 12:53Speaker 1: a situation, right, you can do and go wherever you want,
- 12:56Speaker 1: pakicularly now with the Internet and artificial intelligence, even if
- 13:00Speaker 1: you're in prisoned, you're free because your mind is able
- 13:05Speaker 1: to roam the world. Okay, So from hustle to holdings,
- 13:10Speaker 1: turning street smarts into generational wealth. Right, So this is
- 13:15Speaker 1: Black Business Month. I want to thank, by the way,
- 13:17Speaker 1: iHeart Radio and Black Effect Network for saluting black businesses
- 13:22Speaker 1: this month and for featuring my Money and Wealth podcasts.
- 13:25Speaker 1: You'll be searing and seeing these one minute outtakes, download them,
- 13:29Speaker 1: share them, and thank Black Effect Network and iHeart for
- 13:33Speaker 1: doing this. Please, there's nothing partisan about prosperity, right, This
- 13:38Speaker 1: is not political. This is just common sense. We want
- 13:40Speaker 1: everybody to see black businesses, white business you know businesses,
- 13:43Speaker 1: Asian Indian businesses. Right. This is just something happens to
- 13:45Speaker 1: be focused because it's a Black Effect Network on black businesses.
- 13:48Speaker 1: By the way, look up one MBB one million Black
- 13:51Speaker 1: Business Initiative for tools. This is this part of the toolbox.
- 13:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna pay out for you at Operation Hope, economic
- 13:56Speaker 1: plumbing work, creating for the nation for your uplift, and
- 13:59Speaker 1: everybody else is up lift and focusing on you at
- 14:01Speaker 1: the moment. So uh, economic empowerment isn't just about making money,
- 14:08Speaker 1: It's about making money work for you. This one for
- 14:22Speaker 1: everyone who's ever hustled, whether it was on the block
- 14:28Speaker 1: in the prison yard, are at two jobs just to survive?
- 14:32Speaker 1: That was my mother, by the way, wanting to smith.
- 14:35Speaker 1: The skills you have are real. The question is are
- 14:40Speaker 1: you ready to flip that hustle in the holdings? Again,
- 14:43Speaker 1: I've already described a drug dealer. They understand income and
- 14:47Speaker 1: you know income export and income, you know expense, wholesale
- 14:53Speaker 1: retail financing, you know network marketing. They understand all that
- 14:57Speaker 1: hr and then what's what's a what's a gang leader,
- 15:02Speaker 1: a frustrated union organizer? Okay, these are natural skills, just
- 15:07Speaker 1: improperly apply. So what would happen if you turn that
- 15:13Speaker 1: hustle into something legitimate? Here's a blueprint to go from
- 15:19Speaker 1: the street corner to the corner office. The first thing
- 15:23Speaker 1: I want you to do is we're just setting the
- 15:26Speaker 1: foundation here is. I want you to create a mind
- 15:29Speaker 1: shift from surviving to strategy, from survival to strategy. Right,
- 15:36Speaker 1: my book Up from Nothing I Believe, or the book
- 15:38Speaker 1: the Memo, I talk about the three mindsets, a surviving mindset,
- 15:42Speaker 1: a thriving mindset, and a winning mindset. Right, a surviving mindset,
- 15:46Speaker 1: it sounds it is exactly what it sounds for. Sounds
- 15:49Speaker 1: like it's it is. There's an effective use and effectiveness
- 15:52Speaker 1: of it is a use for it. It's a place
- 15:54Speaker 1: for it. But that's not where I want you right now. Right,
- 15:57Speaker 1: that's dodging bullets. Right, that's try that's trying to get by. Right.
- 16:02Speaker 1: I want you to get up. Can I get an amen?
- 16:05Speaker 1: I want you to fight with it from the shoulders down.
- 16:06Speaker 1: I want you to fight from the neck up. Now,
- 16:08Speaker 1: I want you to make smart sexy again. We've been
- 16:11Speaker 1: making dumb sexy for way too long. We've dumbed down
- 16:14Speaker 1: and celebrated it. It's time to make smart sexy again.
- 16:18Speaker 1: So I want you to create a new set of tools. Right.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Because the surviving mindset is for poor people. There's a
- 16:23Speaker 1: difference between being broken being poor being broken as economic
- 16:27Speaker 1: being poor as a disabling frame of mind, a depressed
- 16:29Speaker 1: condition of our spirit. And we must vow never ever
- 16:32Speaker 1: ever to be poor again. Can I get an amen? Right? So,
- 16:36Speaker 1: I don't want you to. You can be broke, but
- 16:38Speaker 1: you can't be poor because if you poor, then hurt people,
- 16:41Speaker 1: hurt people, and somebody's gonna pray on you because you
- 16:44Speaker 1: don't like yourself. You don't love yourself, you don't understand
- 16:46Speaker 1: your own value. Right, so somebody's gonna pimp you, take
- 16:49Speaker 1: advantage of you. Look at that, that that five hundred
- 16:51Speaker 1: credit cored neighborhood. It's a check casher next to a
- 16:53Speaker 1: patay loan lender, next to a rental own store, next
- 16:55Speaker 1: to a title lender, next to a liquor store, next
- 16:57Speaker 1: to a pawn shop. Right, So I want you to,
- 17:00Speaker 1: I want you to, I want you to to free mind,
- 17:03Speaker 1: Free mind. DODR. Dorothy Hyde once told me Civil rights
- 17:06Speaker 1: icon said, John, I like you because you're a dreamer
- 17:09Speaker 1: with a shovel in your hands. I want you to
- 17:11Speaker 1: be a dreamer with a shovel in your hands. Get that.
- 17:13Speaker 1: I want you to get out of this surviving, depressed mindset,
- 17:16Speaker 1: this deficiency mindset where you see yourself as a victim
- 17:21Speaker 1: and victimized. That doesn't mean somebody's not victimizing you. Racism
- 17:24Speaker 1: is like rain. It's either falling someplace or it's gathering.
- 17:27Speaker 1: So you might go get out of an umbrella and
- 17:28Speaker 1: a color you like and start strolling through it. Because
- 17:30Speaker 1: it's not going to change. So you must equip yourself
- 17:35Speaker 1: with the tools to go from surviving to thriving. That's
- 17:38Speaker 1: middle class success, but that's still somebody writing. You're writing,
- 17:42Speaker 1: you're cashing a check. Still cool, right to building, right
- 17:46Speaker 1: builders or winners. Winners, that's entrepreneurs or small business owners.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Those are folks who write the checks, don't just cash it.
- 17:53Speaker 1: I don't care whether you're thriving or or or winning building,
- 17:57Speaker 1: but I want you out of the surviving mindset. Okay,
- 18:02Speaker 1: So here's the street skills that needs to go to
- 18:04Speaker 1: business skills. You follow me so far. You got your
- 18:06Speaker 1: pen out or your iPhone or your Android or whatever
- 18:09Speaker 1: your iPad you're taking notes on. Are your AI device
- 18:12Speaker 1: that's taking your notes for you? I want you to
- 18:15Speaker 1: write this stuff down, not if you're driving. Okay, go
- 18:19Speaker 1: back and listen to it again, or listen or get
- 18:21Speaker 1: a group of your girls together and re listening to
- 18:23Speaker 1: this again, or group of your guys a barber shop,
- 18:25Speaker 1: relsten to this again. Take notes. I'm laying out a
- 18:28Speaker 1: blueprint for you. By the way, you can go online
- 18:31Speaker 1: to dream Forward, right, because I'm creating economic plumbing for
- 18:34Speaker 1: us and everybody else. But in this case, I'm talking
- 18:37Speaker 1: to us, and I've created a business plan and this too. Example,
- 18:41Speaker 1: I get a bunch of tools for you, right, financial coaching,
- 18:44Speaker 1: financial advice, business plan development, small business development one MBB,
- 18:48Speaker 1: one me, and Black Business Initiative, et cetera, Shopify online,
- 18:52Speaker 1: business tools, scholarships that are between one thousand dollars and
- 18:57Speaker 1: twenty five thousand dollars a program, scholarships that get you
- 18:59Speaker 1: into the gain of lifting yourself up. All right, but
- 19:04Speaker 1: this is tool. Go to dream Forward, type in my
- 19:07Speaker 1: name in the internet dream Forward John O'Brien or dream
- 19:10Speaker 1: Forward Operation Hope, and download the business plan for Black America. Okay, well,
- 19:16Speaker 1: this is not just for black people. He's a business plan.
- 19:18Speaker 1: By the way, there's a business plan for I'm saying
- 19:21Speaker 1: black people because it's a Black Business month. But there's
- 19:23Speaker 1: a business plan for women. There's a business plan for
- 19:25Speaker 1: rural America. That's, by the way, poor whites and poor
- 19:29Speaker 1: blacks in rural America. The Business Plan for Latinos, a
- 19:31Speaker 1: business Plan for Asians, Business Plan for Native American Indians.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Go to dream Forward download the plan that applies to you. Okay,
- 19:39Speaker 1: I need you now to change your mindset, and I
- 19:43Speaker 1: want you to now go from street skills to business
- 19:45Speaker 1: skills and hustle right equals sales and marketing. So if
- 19:52Speaker 1: you're a hustler or you know anybody who've got these skills,
- 19:55Speaker 1: I want you to them to think now that they're
- 19:57Speaker 1: going to translate these hustle skills right into sales and marketing.
- 20:03Speaker 1: I want you to translate the supply chain skill selling
- 20:08Speaker 1: drugs or whatever it is that might be less than
- 20:11Speaker 1: legal right into a discussion around logistics, because that's really
- 20:16Speaker 1: what you're good at. Supply chain equals logistics. Street rep
- 20:21Speaker 1: street reputation, right, which seems to be so important to
- 20:24Speaker 1: so many people. That's brand management, right, that's marketing and
- 20:29Speaker 1: brand management. And I don't want you to be a
- 20:33Speaker 1: three square Blocks celebrity. I want you to own the
- 20:36Speaker 1: city as a brand. I want you to be the
- 20:38Speaker 1: best number one whatever in that brand, number one plumbing company,
- 20:41Speaker 1: number one. Don't hate on plumbing companies. They make a
- 20:44Speaker 1: lot of money, by the way, millions of dollars a year.
- 20:46Speaker 1: You have a couple of locations, the number one electricians
- 20:53Speaker 1: company or number one I don't care what it is, dentist.
- 20:55Speaker 1: I want you to be a number one in your city, right,
- 20:57Speaker 1: I want you to own your area, own city. People
- 21:00Speaker 1: think about barbershop or plumbing or whatever it is, they
- 21:03Speaker 1: think about you. Right. So, brand management, so it's not
- 21:06Speaker 1: just doing a great work, but marketing it, developing it,
- 21:09Speaker 1: running a good business, great customer service. Okay, So if
- 21:13Speaker 1: you've got great street, straight street cred, you might be
- 21:16Speaker 1: able to turn that into a business, even as a
- 21:18Speaker 1: consultant for brand management. Uh. Even running a crew in
- 21:23Speaker 1: the hood, a crew in the neighborhood, a crew and
- 21:25Speaker 1: a crew in prison, okay, a crew in the penitentiary. Right. Uh,
- 21:31Speaker 1: that's people management, that's hr human resources. Okay, these are
- 21:35Speaker 1: smart people. So business ideas that I want you to highlight.
- 21:40Speaker 1: I'm gonna give you a number of them to focus on.
- 21:43Speaker 1: But here's a couple easy ones. These are ones that
- 21:45Speaker 1: I did coming up. Mobile car wash and detailing. Don't
- 21:49Speaker 1: don't hate on this business. It does well right, and
- 21:53Speaker 1: it's it's it's easy to get into. Start with buckets
- 21:56Speaker 1: and soap, right scale into a fleet track with a
- 22:01Speaker 1: car company that the cars have to be clean. Think
- 22:04Speaker 1: about whose cars have to be cleaned? Now getting this,
- 22:06Speaker 1: you might be coming from the hood, you might be
- 22:08Speaker 1: coming from the penitentiary. Can you think about starting a
- 22:11Speaker 1: car detailing a mobile car detailing detailing business that has
- 22:15Speaker 1: a contract with the local police department. Now wouldn't that
- 22:18Speaker 1: be full circle? A contract with the fire department, a
- 22:22Speaker 1: contract with city. Think about all the cars you see
- 22:24Speaker 1: in the city. They're always spotless. They're not fancy. Maybe
- 22:28Speaker 1: they're spotless though those are all city vehicles, county vehicles.
- 22:32Speaker 1: They've got a contract with somebody. Why can't it be
- 22:35Speaker 1: with you, particularly if you're in that local home town, right,
- 22:39Speaker 1: And what a great success story to go from prison
- 22:42Speaker 1: to prosperity that they can tell if that happens to
- 22:44Speaker 1: be your story or wherever it is, poverty to prosperity. Uh,
- 22:48Speaker 1: you know, tow U from the flow up to the
- 22:49Speaker 1: prosperity where you know I was so poor going up
- 22:52Speaker 1: I coutting forward to O R which is a po
- 22:53Speaker 1: po right, But whatever it is, it is your It
- 22:57Speaker 1: is your rape, it is your rainbow after storm story,
- 22:59Speaker 1: and other to want to participate in it. Think about again,
- 23:02Speaker 1: carry car service or whatever car service is in your town,
- 23:06Speaker 1: black car service. Think about people have ubers. They probably
- 23:08Speaker 1: watch their cars themselves. But if you have three five,
- 23:11Speaker 1: you have a fleet of cars. Somebody's a fleet of cars.
- 23:13Speaker 1: They might give you a contract cleaning services homes and offices. Right,
- 23:18Speaker 1: this requires discipline, reliability, and that equals steady work. And
- 23:24Speaker 1: it also could include contract. You have an annual contract.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Make what remember I told you make money during the day.
- 23:30Speaker 1: You build wealth in your sleep. Right, it's compounding. So
- 23:33Speaker 1: if you have a contract A to clean an office building,
- 23:36Speaker 1: contract B to clean three small businesses, contracts C to
- 23:39Speaker 1: clean five schools. These contracts renew quarterly, hopefully annually, and
- 23:44Speaker 1: hopefully some of the remote year. Those contracts stack and
- 23:49Speaker 1: then you're now building wealth. And we'll get into on
- 23:52Speaker 1: another podcast when you combine those contracts, how you can
- 23:56Speaker 1: sell the company for more than the income that you
- 23:59Speaker 1: are making, because now now you've built an asset base,
- 24:03Speaker 1: which are these stream of cash flows, These contracts which
- 24:06Speaker 1: someone else can benefit from when they acquire if they
- 24:08Speaker 1: acquire your business. And the whole point of this business
- 24:11Speaker 1: is when you build them, is to sell them, to
- 24:13Speaker 1: monetize them. But getting ahead of myself here, don't get
- 24:16Speaker 1: emotional about businesses. Start building credit and writing down your
- 24:20Speaker 1: business plan, even behind bars, and in fact, I say
- 24:24Speaker 1: particularly behind bars. You have a lot of time in
- 24:26Speaker 1: your hands. Get smart. That's how you get even all right,
- 24:31Speaker 1: Section two, Segment two the hustle. Right, I want you
- 24:35Speaker 1: to turn what you know into legal money. What you
- 24:39Speaker 1: wance flipped on the block, you can flip online. So
- 24:42Speaker 1: I want you to go to one million Black business
- 24:44Speaker 1: INSIE one MBB. We've created, supported, nurtured, advanced, and partnership
- 24:48Speaker 1: with Shopify. This is my philanthropy Operation Hope partner. We
- 24:51Speaker 1: have one hundred and ninety million dollar commitment over ten
- 24:53Speaker 1: years from Shopify to help us to create a million
- 24:56Speaker 1: Black businesses in America. We nurture, support it, advanced start
- 25:00Speaker 1: how to help to start over four hundred and fifty
- 25:02Speaker 1: thousand Black businesses in America. Hello, Since two thousand and twenty,
- 25:08Speaker 1: since George Floyd's murder, Rainbow's after storm, This isn't a
- 25:12Speaker 1: program that can be helpful to you, or our small
- 25:14Speaker 1: business training program, or our whole business a box programer,
- 25:17Speaker 1: our Hope coaching, Hope Inside coaching program. Right. But what
- 25:20Speaker 1: you once flipped on the block, you can now flip online.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Even some prisons, some some places of incarceration have programs
- 25:29Speaker 1: to allow you to to do things like a business online.
- 25:33Speaker 1: You should check it out AI as a new plug. Right. So,
- 25:39Speaker 1: you've got Canva Chat GPT, which is my favorite because
- 25:42Speaker 1: I've partnered with my friend Sam Autman on the we
- 25:44Speaker 1: coach here, the AI Ethics Council. Check that out, Shopify
- 25:48Speaker 1: quick books right, artific All these use artificial intelligence, and
- 25:52Speaker 1: that plus e commerce is a game changer for you
- 25:58Speaker 1: right in the internet. You don't need brick and mortar
- 26:01Speaker 1: right now. You can do this online from wherever you are.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Here's some business ideas for you to think about digital
- 26:08Speaker 1: reselling sneakers, streetwear, electronics, same hustle, different marketplace. Right, You're
- 26:19Speaker 1: not selling it on the streets, You're selling it into
- 26:22Speaker 1: the suites, which are about eBay, Poshmark, stock X. Research
- 26:27Speaker 1: all these companies, right, don't just research them as a
- 26:31Speaker 1: place for you to sell through, research them as a
- 26:33Speaker 1: place to invest in. You can buy stock from many
- 26:36Speaker 1: of these companies, and if they're doing so well, you
- 26:38Speaker 1: want to participate in that. Even if you buy through
- 26:40Speaker 1: fractional investing, you buy twenty five dollars worth of stock, right,
- 26:44Speaker 1: you don't to buy a whole share or multiple shares.
- 26:46Speaker 1: So now you're getting you're stacking money both ways, making
- 26:49Speaker 1: money and building wealth. You're making money on their platform,
- 26:52Speaker 1: and you're building wealth because as they succeed, you succeed.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Billionaires are succeeding somewhere because they own or build a
- 26:59Speaker 1: grow some company. It's probably not a bad bet to
- 27:01Speaker 1: think about investing right alongside them, meeting the people who
- 27:03Speaker 1: started these businesses like the ones I just mentioned, eBay, Poshmark,
- 27:06Speaker 1: stock ex. You know, go on and on and on, Walmart, Amazon,
- 27:12Speaker 1: swe and so forth, Shopify, Okay, food Hustle, right, meal prep, catering,
- 27:21Speaker 1: food carts, food trucks right from the block cookout to
- 27:27Speaker 1: the neighborhood catering. And my friend Tim Burt, who was
- 27:30Speaker 1: on my podcast recently, has a food truck and it's
- 27:33Speaker 1: part time. He uses it whenever there's a contract, an opportunity, whatever,
- 27:37Speaker 1: a community events. How he gets back to the community.
- 27:39Speaker 1: By the way, he loves to cook, so he just
- 27:41Speaker 1: shows up with, you know, his Timber Enterprises food truck,
- 27:46Speaker 1: which sits parked and doesn't cost him any things. He
- 27:48Speaker 1: paid for it until you want to use it. So
- 27:50Speaker 1: when he uses it, it turns into cash flow or
- 27:52Speaker 1: charitable contribution in that nice cash flow through profitability through
- 27:56Speaker 1: the business or charitable contribution by giving back. He wins
- 27:59Speaker 1: both ways, and it's got timbered his name on the
- 28:01Speaker 1: side of it, whatever his business is, so it's also
- 28:03Speaker 1: advertising him why it's driving down the street. Number five
- 28:07Speaker 1: AI Assistant Creative Hustles, right, logos, flyers, social content right
- 28:15Speaker 1: use AI to become the designer every small business need.
- 28:19Speaker 1: So these business small businesses are so busy running their
- 28:21Speaker 1: small business right, they don't have time to be doing
- 28:23Speaker 1: all these detail work. So they need to hire people
- 28:26Speaker 1: like well you to create some of the marketing tools
- 28:31Speaker 1: that they need, maybe to do the marketing that they need.
- 28:33Speaker 1: I used to do this too, by the way, I
- 28:35Speaker 1: used to pick to pay one thousand dollars a month
- 28:37Speaker 1: to be the marketing consultant for it doesn't exist anymore,
- 28:42Speaker 1: but Foster Shoe Company. It's a Persian family that I
- 28:44Speaker 1: love them. That so thank them for giving me a
- 28:46Speaker 1: contract when I was in my late teens on Pigo
- 28:49Speaker 1: Boulevard in West Los Angeles. They don't exist anymore, but
- 28:54Speaker 1: so so thankful for them and many others who gave
- 28:57Speaker 1: me small marketing contracts when I didn't have a real business.
- 29:00Speaker 1: I started as a marketing consultant back in the day.
- 29:03Speaker 1: Start with what you know, then apply to discipline you're
- 29:06Speaker 1: already used in the streets, tracking numbers, building loyalty, UH
- 29:11Speaker 1: and reinvesting profits. Right all right? Segment three the strategy
- 29:16Speaker 1: A right. The difference between a hustler, a hustler and
- 29:20Speaker 1: a business owner. Please listen now, it's paperwork. Hello, drop
- 29:25Speaker 1: the mic. The difference between a hustler and a business owner.
- 29:32Speaker 1: It's paperwork, proper paperwork. I told you that I make
- 29:37Speaker 1: boring sexy. That's a bishop TDJS quote Chairman td tdjkes.
- 29:40Speaker 1: By the way, he's now, he's now doing stuff in
- 29:43Speaker 1: the community and in business. I applaud under that he's bilingual.
- 29:47Speaker 1: He's helped your soul. Now he's trying to help you
- 29:49Speaker 1: pockets because it's good Soil Initiative, where I served on
- 29:51Speaker 1: the boarder. By the way, I just spoke there, so, uh,
- 29:55Speaker 1: this is so important. You can create an LLC, right,
- 29:57Speaker 1: a limited liability corporation that equals legitimate. See right, we
- 30:01Speaker 1: do that from wherever you are, even behind board bars
- 30:03Speaker 1: in many cases. Right, I want you to build credit
- 30:06Speaker 1: that's a new currency, right and reinvestment equal scale. Okay,
- 30:10Speaker 1: once again, l l C equals legitimacy. Credit equals new
- 30:14Speaker 1: currency because not it's digital, right, but it's credit is
- 30:18Speaker 1: the latter word credito, which means credibility. By the way,
- 30:20Speaker 1: it's nothing to do with money. Reinvest reinvestment equal scale.
- 30:25Speaker 1: So here's some business ideas to highlight again going back
- 30:28Speaker 1: to some practical stuff PhD and PhD too, landscaping and
- 30:32Speaker 1: lawn care by use more and tremor scaling into an
- 30:37Speaker 1: HOA or city contract HOA is are these homeowners associations
- 30:42Speaker 1: that are literally everywhere, Right, I hired Uh Jamel Thomas
- 30:50Speaker 1: got rested, so he's recently passed away. But I hired
- 30:53Speaker 1: his business because I met him through I believe I
- 30:56Speaker 1: met him through our HOA where I used to have
- 30:58Speaker 1: where I was used to listen where that had h
- 31:00Speaker 1: a behind gates with multiple business, multile, multiple families. Now
- 31:04Speaker 1: we we live in our own place, our own h
- 31:07Speaker 1: o A. But uh, he grew as I grew, he
- 31:12Speaker 1: grew and and then he started doing the bashad Young's
- 31:14Speaker 1: house and so on and so forth. And he started
- 31:15Speaker 1: he started getting see contracts, he started with himself. That's
- 31:18Speaker 1: in lawnmower. Then two guys. The last time I checked,
- 31:21Speaker 1: God rest his soul. He just passed on and really
- 31:23Speaker 1: passed on that business to his family. By the way,
- 31:25Speaker 1: I think his sister trying to raise prices on me,
- 31:27Speaker 1: by the way, really smarter of her. But I'm not.
- 31:30Speaker 1: I'm not feeling it. But that's her. That's her, that's
- 31:33Speaker 1: that's her job is to try to be as profitable
- 31:34Speaker 1: as she can. But but that you're growing that small business,
- 31:38Speaker 1: that that single that single that that really sole preneur, right,
- 31:42Speaker 1: that's sole source entrepreneur. You're doing it yourself to two
- 31:46Speaker 1: long more six eight ten, and then trying to get contracts. Again,
- 31:50Speaker 1: this is the lifeblood of a business. It's cash flow,
- 31:52Speaker 1: contracts currency. Uh, and then that creates your real value.
- 31:57Speaker 1: When you have you got three h o A five
- 31:59Speaker 1: O h A h A Contracts Home Owers Association. Now
- 32:03Speaker 1: you can go to the city and maybe get to
- 32:04Speaker 1: go to a small city and then show hey, I
- 32:06Speaker 1: got eight or ten of these local contracts in Hua's
- 32:09Speaker 1: I'd like to get a contract with the city of
- 32:11Speaker 1: wherever small sits are with a small city. And now
- 32:14Speaker 1: that gives you credibility. Now you go to go to
- 32:16Speaker 1: two cities, to three cities. Now now you've got eight contracts,
- 32:18Speaker 1: ten contracts. You have a real business with cash flow
- 32:21Speaker 1: and value that you can sell later on. Particularly these
- 32:25Speaker 1: contracts are renewable pressure washing and outdoor clean cleaning cleaning. Uh,
- 32:32Speaker 1: this is four hundred dollars to eat in dollars for equipment. Right,
- 32:35Speaker 1: expand the storefronts and repeat contracts. Right pressure washing and
- 32:39Speaker 1: outdoor cleaning. If I mean, I can I know the
- 32:42Speaker 1: windows in my house need cleaning. If somebody showed up
- 32:46Speaker 1: and with a flyer and said we do pressure washing,
- 32:48Speaker 1: window cleaning, we hire them. Think about just just go
- 32:50Speaker 1: down your street, go down the middle class street of
- 32:52Speaker 1: your street's poll me. Folks may not be looking for
- 32:55Speaker 1: I mean looking for bullet proofvests, not window cleaning. But
- 32:57Speaker 1: but I could say that because I grew up in
- 32:59Speaker 1: the hood can offended. But go to middle class off
- 33:01Speaker 1: a middle class neighborhood and offer these these services. And
- 33:04Speaker 1: don't go there with your had on backwards looking like
- 33:06Speaker 1: a thug. By the way, that will not work. Go there,
- 33:08Speaker 1: look clean, smooth, right, you can be. You can be.
- 33:11Speaker 1: You can be classy and smooth, cool and smooth and
- 33:14Speaker 1: legit looking. You got to look like the person who
- 33:16Speaker 1: wants to be hired not arrested. Uh, delivery and air
- 33:21Speaker 1: and services. Use your car, bike, you know, airplane whatever,
- 33:26Speaker 1: right to deliver for apps, then flipping into your own
- 33:32Speaker 1: courrier company. Right, so if you have a car, you
- 33:34Speaker 1: begin we know these services, but you can create your
- 33:36Speaker 1: own services. By the way, Uber eats and lifting. All
- 33:39Speaker 1: that stuff properly came from black folks in the South
- 33:41Speaker 1: through in the fifties when they did black car services
- 33:45Speaker 1: because they couldn't give them. You can send in the
- 33:46Speaker 1: front of the bus. So they said, well, doctor King,
- 33:49Speaker 1: and Andrew Young, my mentor said, we're not didn't send
- 33:51Speaker 1: on any bus then when I sent in the back
- 33:53Speaker 1: that so they in order to squeeze the business the
- 33:55Speaker 1: bus company, they created a black taxis literally black taxis
- 33:59Speaker 1: black people car services from a people's cars and just
- 34:02Speaker 1: shovel people around. By the way, rent parties, it's another
- 34:05Speaker 1: good cool business. Yes, rent parties. Have somebody hold a party.
- 34:09Speaker 1: They need rent. They hold a party and everybody shows
- 34:13Speaker 1: up with ten bucks or twenty five bucks or whatever
- 34:14Speaker 1: the entry fee is, and they pay their rent. Make
- 34:17Speaker 1: sure they pay their rent. And then and then the
- 34:20Speaker 1: next month somebody else has a rent party. They need
- 34:22Speaker 1: to pay rent. Right, and so have fun, but have
- 34:24Speaker 1: purpose at the same time. He had just created another
- 34:26Speaker 1: business for You can create a rent party inc. Rent
- 34:28Speaker 1: party LLC business in your neighborhood. Pay your taxes on
- 34:31Speaker 1: all these businesses, by the way, get your taxes return.
- 34:34Speaker 1: Do this proper right Again, paperwork is differ between a
- 34:37Speaker 1: hustler and a legitimate business. Delivery and air and services right,
- 34:52Speaker 1: use your your bike in car to not just do
- 34:57Speaker 1: Uber eats or whatever. Right, think about think about companies
- 35:01Speaker 1: that that small businesses that need proper delivery of legal documents. Right.
- 35:05Speaker 1: If you can get bonded, you can do this at
- 35:08Speaker 1: the highest level. But just keep elevating this dream. Right.
- 35:12Speaker 1: And by the way, if you if you have a
- 35:13Speaker 1: car service, maybe you can go to successful car service
- 35:17Speaker 1: and get a subcontract from them. Because they have overrun
- 35:20Speaker 1: businesses or events and they need somebody else to boat
- 35:22Speaker 1: onto them. You just, you know that could you could
- 35:24Speaker 1: be the boat on expert without having to start have
- 35:27Speaker 1: any startup business expense. You just leach lash onto somebody
- 35:30Speaker 1: else who's got got customers coming in. You just help
- 35:33Speaker 1: them fulfill them. Okay, we're gonna get through this section
- 35:36Speaker 1: Segment four, the legacy right from cash flow to legacy flow.
- 35:41Speaker 1: Right ownership is a new hustle. It's the new coop
- 35:45Speaker 1: Wills life insurance, estate planning. Right. Teach kids the games
- 35:50Speaker 1: so they don't start from zero. Here's some business ideas
- 35:54Speaker 1: to highlight right for you right in your brain. Personal
- 35:57Speaker 1: fitness training, street boot camps right lead workouts and parks,

- 36:11Speaker 1: sixty people out there and they just got permission to
- 36:14Speaker 1: use a little green space next to a business in
- 36:17Speaker 1: a very cool area, and I was very impressed. Barbering,
- 36:22Speaker 1: hair braiding, and grooming. This is a huge business opportunity.
- 36:25Speaker 1: I did a podcast just on the black haircare business.
- 36:29Speaker 1: So go and listen to that podcast from season one.
- 36:33Speaker 1: This is season two five hundred dollars for equipment. Start
- 36:37Speaker 1: at home, scale into a shop and you can do
- 36:42Speaker 1: get your Shopify account, by the way, and do an
- 36:45Speaker 1: e commerce business and boat onto your hair shop at home.
- 36:51Speaker 1: Nobody needs to notes at home and you could sell

- 36:59Speaker 1: In addition to people coming in scheduling app the schedule
- 37:02Speaker 1: appointments with you and putting the credit card in so
- 37:04Speaker 1: they will show up. There's a cancelation fee, but they'll
- 37:07Speaker 1: do their online the tennis shop anyway, and they'll order stuff.
- 37:11Speaker 1: And now you're making money in your sleep. Right, So
- 37:13Speaker 1: I want you to be high tech and high touch. Right. Look,
- 37:17Speaker 1: this is the four pillars right, foundation, hustle strategy, strategy,
- 37:22Speaker 1: and legacy. Right foundation, hustle strategy and legacy. Right. So
- 37:30Speaker 1: what if I told you there's like ten businesses you
- 37:32Speaker 1: can start for under one thousand dollars, right, just pick one,
- 37:35Speaker 1: just one and take it and take one step you
- 37:38Speaker 1: know a week, right, maybe one step this week? Right.
- 37:44Speaker 1: And I want to now encourage you to to think
- 37:53Speaker 1: about these ten businesses that I've outlined here, because none
- 37:57Speaker 1: of them are very sophisticated very complicated, right, and I'm
- 38:02Speaker 1: gonna do ten more businesses and I follow up podcasts
- 38:05Speaker 1: I'm gonna do. I'm I'm actually doing a podcast on
- 38:07Speaker 1: how to start a business. This is not not hustle,
- 38:10Speaker 1: just business, right for everybody. This one is for This
- 38:14Speaker 1: is a This is like a from the ground up,
- 38:17Speaker 1: like wherever you happen to be, here's how you start. Right.
- 38:20Speaker 1: People think that if they don't have college degrees, they
- 38:23Speaker 1: don't have pedigrees, right, you can't succeed. That's just not true.
- 38:26Speaker 1: Anybody can start a LinkedIn page. Anybody can start start
- 38:29Speaker 1: an Instagram, Instagram page, or something other than shaking your
- 38:32Speaker 1: rear end, other than taking your clothes off. My god,
- 38:34Speaker 1: you wanna take your clothes off? At least get paid
- 38:36Speaker 1: for it. No, I don't. I didn't really, I didn't
- 38:37Speaker 1: really say that, And I said it, but I didn't
- 38:39Speaker 1: mean it. I was just being I'm joking. But people will,
- 38:43Speaker 1: unfortunately think I'm serious. If do something's dignified, do something
- 38:47Speaker 1: that is dignity rich, do something. You got all these
- 38:49Speaker 1: tools that you're handing this your phone is your phone's
- 38:52Speaker 1: a smartphone. Don't use it for dumb purposes, right, it's
- 38:55Speaker 1: a smartphone, it's a little computer in your hand. You've
- 38:57Speaker 1: got the Internet, you've got an artificial intelligence. You've got
- 38:59Speaker 1: all these tools all around you. Use all of them.
- 39:03Speaker 1: Put them together in a business plan. Go to Operation Hope,

- 39:13Speaker 1: you need capital. Right, you don't have to go begging
- 39:16Speaker 1: the people. You don't have to, you know, go do
- 39:19Speaker 1: it a go fund me campaign. Maybe right, Maybe you don't.
- 39:23Speaker 1: I don't you know. I'm not telling you what not
- 39:24Speaker 1: to do. I'm saying if you need twenty five look,
- 39:26Speaker 1: if you need five hundred, one thousand dollars, you may

- 39:41Speaker 1: Small Business Administration, there's resources there. Go online to Operation Hope,
- 39:45Speaker 1: the National Urban League, there's resources there. I believe even

- 40:10Speaker 1: computer at midnight and ask for a thousand dollars loan.
- 40:13Speaker 1: Ten thousand dollars loan with a thousand loan is a
- 40:15Speaker 1: credit card? Okay, ten thousand dollars loan, that's probably still
- 40:18Speaker 1: a credit card. By the way, capital is both equity
- 40:21Speaker 1: and debt, right, just so you know, equity and debt
- 40:24Speaker 1: is both a form of capital. Just to make that clear.
- 40:28Speaker 1: You want to get a twenty five thousand dollars loan.

- 40:35Speaker 1: hundred thousand dollars loan. This for a to buy a
- 40:38Speaker 1: house right, anything under one hundred thousand dollars, certainly, fifty
- 40:41Speaker 1: thousand dollars or less, certainly twenty five thousand dollars or less,

- 40:47Speaker 1: that online. Okay, go to If you have seven hundred
- 40:50Speaker 1: credit score and you go to the computer at midnight.

- 40:55Speaker 1: a seven hundred credit score right, and you have your
- 40:58Speaker 1: debt to income ratios in line. Being able to access
- 41:01Speaker 1: a ten thousand dollars line of credit to start your
- 41:04Speaker 1: business or less. It's actually well within your reach because
- 41:08Speaker 1: the computer's not gonna say you're black, or you're brown,
- 41:10Speaker 1: or your woman. It's gonna tell you're green, as in
- 41:13Speaker 1: credit worthy. Because guess what, the bank just wants their
- 41:16Speaker 1: money back plus interest. It's not personal. Oh, the bank's racist. No,
- 41:20Speaker 1: the bank is greedy. Bank wants their money back, right,
- 41:23Speaker 1: just like I want my money back, just like you
- 41:25Speaker 1: want your money back. So if you look toe up
- 41:27Speaker 1: from the flow up, if you so poor you can't
- 41:29Speaker 1: pay attention. If you so broke, you can't pay attention.
- 41:31Speaker 1: If you so poor, you don't have the oar and
- 41:32Speaker 1: the end you just poll then yeah, they probably don't
- 41:34Speaker 1: want to. That's your perception of that's the perception they
- 41:37Speaker 1: have of you. They're probably gonna lend you. But if
- 41:39Speaker 1: you clean yourself up in the way in which I'm
- 41:41Speaker 1: talking about you, get your paperwork right again. Difference between
- 41:43Speaker 1: a hustler and a business person, a proper business person
- 41:46Speaker 1: is paperwork all right, get your credits, get all this
- 41:50Speaker 1: stuff right right now, you're proper right, and the operation
- 41:53Speaker 1: can tell you when you're ready to go to get
- 41:55Speaker 1: an application. We want we want you to get a
- 41:57Speaker 1: yes right because we're helping banks get out of the
- 41:59Speaker 1: no business and back into the yes business. At scale,
- 42:01Speaker 1: we've done four point five billion dollars of investing this
- 42:04Speaker 1: way through Operation Hope, and it's free to you. We're
- 42:07Speaker 1: gonna give you a scholarship for coaching and counseling of
- 42:09Speaker 1: one thousand dollars to start with. It will cost you
- 42:11Speaker 1: nothing to get your credit card corrected. Do not go
- 42:14Speaker 1: pay some of these these raggedy companies that are charging
- 42:16Speaker 1: you money and to file bankruptcy, to charge you money
- 42:20Speaker 1: to fix your credit stop it, knock it off. Will
- 42:22Speaker 1: do that as an investment in you. I raised fifty
- 42:24Speaker 1: million dollars, almost seventy five million dollars a year every year,
- 42:28Speaker 1: so that you get this for free, I do that
- 42:31Speaker 1: me and I'm telling you go see my people download
- 42:34Speaker 1: the hope and app hamit Hopen a hand app and
- 42:36Speaker 1: tell them I sent you, and see if they keep
- 42:38Speaker 1: the word that I gave you the promise. So if
- 42:41Speaker 1: you get what I'm doing on saying what I'm saying
- 42:43Speaker 1: right now, you're going to be an access capital certainly
- 42:46Speaker 1: ten thousand dollars or less without questioning. Most of the
- 42:48Speaker 1: ideas I've given you you can do for five hundred
- 42:50Speaker 1: one thousand dollars I've given you today. Right, So get
- 42:54Speaker 1: your credit right, get your life right, get your get
- 42:57Speaker 1: your parties right, get a business plan written right. And
- 43:01Speaker 1: because you're just between business and busyness, all right, And
- 43:07Speaker 1: you can be a professional services provider, you can be
- 43:09Speaker 1: great at hustle and all that stuff. But unless you
- 43:11Speaker 1: do the things that I've been talking about in this podcast,
- 43:14Speaker 1: you're not a proper business person and you cannot scale
- 43:16Speaker 1: something based on your mouth, your idea and you get
- 43:20Speaker 1: for gab and your smoothness, that is not enough. That's
- 43:23Speaker 1: enough for you to have a self employment project essentially,
- 43:26Speaker 1: and I don't mind that either. Just to take care
- 43:28Speaker 1: of yourself. If you want to scale a business with
- 43:30Speaker 1: employees and with assets and with infrastructure, hopefully at some
