- 0:00Mom, welcome back to Mommy Wood, the podcast where we dive into
- 0:06the wild, beautiful and sometimes completely crazy world
- 0:11of being both a mom and a performer.
- 0:14I am your host Emily and if you've ever found yourself
- 0:17running on coffee, passion and the sheer willpower of a sleep
- 0:22deprived parent, then you are in the right place.
- 0:26On this episode of Mommy Wood, I have the pleasure of talking
- 0:29with actress, singer, business owner and mom of almost 2,
- 0:34Jackie Volney. Jackie is currently pregnant
- 0:37with her second daughter. She's getting in just under the
- 0:40wire to have two under two. I'm very excited for her.
- 0:44And I told her I cannot wait to see the stunning pictures that
- 0:50are going to be her two daughters.
- 0:52The meeting. Oh, I cannot wait.
- 0:54It's gonna be so cute. Jackie and her husband just
- 0:59moved from New York City to Austin.
- 1:02Yes, they moved across the country with a toddler while
- 1:07she's fully pregnant. I mean, wild, but they are
- 1:13really finding their rhythm in Austin and it's so great to hear
- 1:17about how she's really leaning into basically a new life in
- 1:24Austin. It's so it seems to so suit her
- 1:29and her family and what's best for them.
- 1:32Jackie also has an Amazon business that is continuing to
- 1:37thrive. She started it in the pandemic.
- 1:39I am going to share the links on Instagram on social media, on
- 1:45the in the show notes as well. So make sure you check out her
- 1:50belt. It's called the her business is
- 1:52called Solo well, Solo well and yes, definitely check them.
- 1:58Check that out. She also continues to perform
- 2:02with the American Bombshells and creating content that's really
- 2:08rooted in authenticity and community.
- 2:11That's one of the things I told her about how I asked her about
- 2:17it and and she really comes through so authentically and
- 2:22clearly. That's because it is authentic.
- 2:27In our conversation, Jackie opens up about the reality of
- 2:32pregnancy again, of Round 2 and balancing toddler life with a
- 2:39growing business while moving across the country while
- 2:43pregnant and finding her creative spark in a whole new
- 2:48season of motherhood, a whole new location.
- 2:53She also shares her thoughts on on the whirlwind pace of raising
- 2:59young ones and why trusting your intuition as a mom is really
- 3:04everything. This this one is for any mom
- 3:09who's really juggling multiple roles, really leaning into
- 3:14change and figuring out how to balance family, creativity and
- 3:19career. This was such a lovely
- 3:22conversation. It was so wonderful to talk with
- 3:25Jackie and hear all that she's going through with all and how
- 3:31she's really navigating all these changes and it's it looks
- 3:34so God good on her. She's doing so well.
- 3:38She's so beautiful inside and out.
- 3:41I know you're going to love this episode of Mommy Wood with
- 3:45Jackie Volney thing and you look so beautiful.
- 3:49Thanks. For giving, always in the shower
- 3:52and put makeup on. You're glowing.
- 3:55You're. Thank you.
- 3:57My gosh. Well, Jackie, thanks for being
- 4:01here. And part of Mommy Wood.
- 4:04So how far along are you? You're on your second.
- 4:08Yes. For a long day. 27 weeks now.
- 4:10So I just entered the third trimester, but I feel like I
- 4:14feel like I've been in the third trimester for a lot longer.
- 4:16I still very pregnant. I bet.
- 4:21And so you just said that your your daughter Farrah is 20
- 4:26months and they're going to be two under 2.
- 4:29Yes, I'm just hitting the two under 2 mark and they'll be 20-3
- 4:33months apart. I did not plan it like this but
- 4:37I'm excited for her. I'm excited that I get to do
- 4:39this for her forever friend. And also I feel like just I
- 4:44don't have a sister, so I'm looking forward to like, like,
- 4:48just I don't know. That bond is so special and it
- 4:52it all feels like a big blessing.
- 4:54So yeah. You get like you said, like a
- 4:56built in best friend and they're since they're gonna be close in
- 4:59age. My sister is wife too, but my
- 5:02one sister is 2 years older. The other one is 6 years older.
- 5:05But like yeah, the two year it's great.
- 5:08I mean, you can share clothes, you can annoy each other.
- 5:13I'm going to try to eventually get them to share a room
- 5:16honestly. I shared a room with, with her,
- 5:19with my sister who's two years older, like until my other
- 5:24sister went to college. So I think I was like until like
- 5:287th or 8th grade, 7th grade something.
- 5:32Yeah. And yeah, I, you don't know any
- 5:36better. Like it's great.
- 5:37Exactly, exactly. You just don't know the
- 5:40difference of what and the layout of where we moved the
- 5:44house layout, it's if they didn't share a room, 1 would
- 5:48have to be like downstairs. And so I just don't feel
- 5:51comfortable with that. And so it's like also like
- 5:54forcing me to do it too. And so it's like it's a good, I
- 5:58think. I think it's just good all
- 5:59around. Yeah, so you were saying that
- 6:02this pregnancy feels different. Obviously it'll be different cuz
- 6:06you already you have also a toddler running around.
- 6:08I cannot imagine how exhausted you must be.
- 6:12But yeah, how is this pregnancy different?
- 6:15I always hear that like each pregnancy is different, but
- 6:20how's it going? Yeah, so I feel like my first
- 6:25pregnancy with Farrah, like every single day was like, it
- 6:30was just kind of like a slow burn.
- 6:32Like I just never really like everything happened so slowly,
- 6:36even like the formation of the belly and like the stretching
- 6:40and, you know, all just the whole like 10 months of it
- 6:45because she came at 41 weeks. Just felt so like a process.
- 6:51My whole body was like doing this thing.
- 6:54And then this pregnancy kind of came out of nowhere.
- 6:58I wasn't expecting it. Like with Farrah, we were like
- 7:00trying and planning and, and, and you know, really manifesting
- 7:05like some sort of change in a family life for us.
- 7:08And, and then with our second pregnancy and then it aligned
- 7:14with like a cross country move. And so having Farrah be like she
- 7:20was 15 months when I found out I was pregnant.
- 7:22So yeah, 14 months. So I buy it was just like, I'm
- 7:27running around. I'm kind of forgetting that I'm
- 7:28pregnant. But I've had so many more
- 7:32symptoms. Like it was like first
- 7:34trimester, the symptoms were so much more intense.
- 7:37And then as soon as I hit 20 weeks, I just like boom.
- 7:42Like I I just feel so pregnant and then swelling and the
- 7:46pressure in my body is just like ready.
- 7:50So everybody's like, we know what's going to happen like.
- 7:53Right, right. So I feel like that's the
- 7:56biggest difference is like my body just instantly became so
- 7:59pregnant so quickly. Yeah, your body, I guess like
- 8:03the second time I hear that especially like with popping
- 8:07earlier the 2nd that it's like yeah, yes, it's just your body's
- 8:11like we I know what's up now. So we got this so Farrah only
- 8:19being 14 months when you were pregnant, how was that like
- 8:24telling her? And how is she, You know,
- 8:27obviously there's a transition of she's going to be the sister
- 8:29and also and not the baby anymore.
- 8:32But also you guys had this huge cross country move, which we'll
- 8:37talk more about as well. But how did she respond?
- 8:41You know, that's so young to even comprehend.
- 8:44Is she even like, yeah, I mean, she can see your belly, I guess
- 8:50now, but. I mean, she has no idea what's
- 8:53coming. She has no, like, there's no way
- 8:55I could prepare her or tell her that she knows.
- 8:58Yeah, but especially in the very beginning when I'm not showing
- 9:03and I'm just like physically so exhausted and like can't get off
- 9:06the sofa to like play with her as much as I was before in the
- 9:09first trimester. But I will say now that I am
- 9:13really showing, she packs my belly all the time.
- 9:17And then she's entered into an interesting stage where she's
- 9:21like, she's, she's not too far away from being two years old.
- 9:25So she's trying to say words. And so she identifies when she
- 9:29sees a baby, like she knows when she sees a baby now.
- 9:32So I'm trying to like associate like baby, baby, you know, and,
- 9:37and, and I think, I think she kind of connects the dots here
- 9:42and there because it's so visible now.
- 9:44And she's like on me at all times.
- 9:46I'm holding her and she's like resting on the bump.
- 9:48And I just talk about it a lot, but you know, communication at
- 9:52this age, you never know really what they're getting.
- 9:55I mean, it seems like they they pick up so much, but you don't
- 9:58realize that until later on. So I don't know.
- 10:00I don't know what what she is fully like downloading, but I
- 10:04don't think she knows what's coming.
- 10:06Yeah. I mean, yeah, at that age, she'd
- 10:08be like, wait, there's something in your belly and it's going to
- 10:11come out and it's going to be humid.
- 10:13Like it's hard for adults to comprehend.
- 10:15Like, how do we do this? This is.
- 10:17Yeah, yeah. I've done it and I still don't
- 10:20understand how it works. Like it's crazy.
- 10:24So yeah, your husband is not in the industry.
- 10:27He's a plastic surgeon. So he's he's a pain management
- 10:33doctor and his specialty is varicose veins.
- 10:39So that's where I got that. OK, yes.
- 10:42So he does work in cosmetics in that way, I guess cosmetically
- 10:46can help with, but it's with the venous insufficiency is actually
- 10:50a disease. So he does procedures that just
- 10:54aren't that go away beyond cosmetic procedures.
- 10:57But his specialty, his trade is pain management.
- 11:01And we moved to Texas to start opening vein clinics here, yes.
- 11:10And so we are starting in Austin like we physically are in Austin
- 11:15and then but we're starting clinics 2IN Austin and two in
- 11:18Dallas to start. And so hopefully by the end of
- 11:20the year, we'll have. What was that like conversation
- 11:26like? Because obviously the move is
- 11:30more so for his career, of course.
- 11:33And that seems like something that's very like a great
- 11:37opportunity. What how long was that
- 11:40conversation? What did that look like between
- 11:44the two of you? Because I know New York is such,
- 11:47you know, it's, it's a hard place to leave.
- 11:49It's the same as LA. It's like, but I guess once
- 11:52you're out it's probably not so bad.
- 11:55No, it's it's true. So that was also just like an
- 12:02ongoing conversation that we would have occasionally, like
- 12:07every single year of like imagining us living somewhere
- 12:09else. And that really did start when
- 12:13Sarah was born. And once I got when once I was
- 12:15pregnant and just life started feeling very different.
- 12:20And I was also feeling not as aligned energetically with the
- 12:28city as when I was pregnant, when I was postpartum then, you
- 12:33know, like all of these things that were kind of like life
- 12:37changing for me. I found myself showing up
- 12:41differently in the industry and it was beyond heartbreaking.
- 12:45Like I, I definitely felt like I was in a dark place, couldn't
- 12:51accept it because all I knew was like the grind, the hustle.
- 12:55I'm, I'm just, I'm just not competitive enough, I guess.
- 12:57I guess I'm just feeling lazy. I guess I'm just post part of
- 12:59my, you know, I, I was kind of like blaming it on a lot of
- 13:02other things and trying to like not listen to my inner voice and
- 13:07just like cover it up And it's like, OK, well, I found a sitter
- 13:10for a couple hours, like I'm going to go try to do this
- 13:13audition. And it was like, I just, I, I, I
- 13:16couldn't like fully accept that like my life changing and how I
- 13:21was showing up creatively and that was changing.
- 13:25I couldn't accept that like that I wasn't a good fit.
- 13:28I wasn't a good fit energetically with the city
- 13:30anymore. And I kept getting like
- 13:35different endings, like my agency restructured and so then
- 13:41they weren't going to keep me on for a legit department because
- 13:43they were just too many talents. And then they were going to do.
- 13:46And it was like aligning with me being super postpartum and also
- 13:49not being able to be available for a tour or a cruise or you
- 13:54know what I mean? Like I wasn't, I wasn't putting
- 13:56myself. So it's like I was also taking
- 13:58myself out and all these endings were happening.
- 14:00And and so finally, like when this opportunity came, it was at
- 14:07a time like it was in winter in New York City.
- 14:11And so we were like desiring like somewhere else.
- 14:15And when this opportunity came, it was just like we get the
- 14:19chance to be in the driver's seat of our life.
- 14:23I'm done hanging on and trying to make this thing work when
- 14:26clearly like I'm pregnant again, you know, like I got to do this
- 14:30again. I'm going to be in the newborn
- 14:31stage and this baby life for at least another three years.
- 14:34So I, I'm, I need to take myself out of this and try something
- 14:38else and then, and then see how that shape shifts.
- 14:42And, and, and Shane deserves to take this opportunity for our
- 14:46family. Like if he can push the ball
- 14:49further along for all of us collectively, that's just like,
- 14:53I'm going to say yes to it. So it was just like a team.
- 14:58Like we just made the the decision for us as a family, as
- 15:01a unit, we're like, OK, we're one team.
- 15:03We're doing this. Yeah, yeah.
- 15:05That's hard when it's like you were saying like you're kind of
- 15:10like fighting against what was clearly, like happening with
- 15:16postpartum and like work and all that.
- 15:20And that is hard. Like once you're a mom, Like I
- 15:24feel like I did an audition straight away and I was like,
- 15:30like this was not a great. Feel so out of it.
- 15:33You're already in a brain fog because my pregnancy and
- 15:39delivery aligned with the strike.
- 15:43So there already wasn't a lot going on.
- 15:46So it wasn't like I was like fresh from doing so, you know,
- 15:51like I felt so like I needed to reintroduce myself to people in
- 15:55a way. And I know the kind of work that
- 15:59entails because I had been doing it for the past 11 years.
- 16:02And I just like I, there were so many elements of me that like
- 16:07felt disingenuous to my life now.
- 16:12Like I'm, I'm not going to go to an open call at 6:00 in the
- 16:15morning. Like I'm, I'm not going to, you
- 16:17know what I mean? I'm not, I just, it just like
- 16:19all these things were just like, I'm not, I'm not doing that.
- 16:21And if I'm not doing that, then I'm clearly telling myself
- 16:24something. Right.
- 16:26Yeah. I think it's kind of a relief.
- 16:30Like I think it also comes with like growing up but also
- 16:34becoming a mom where those things were like, I'm not doing
- 16:37that where it's like I'm not going to do some like $100 or
- 16:43like copying credit, like any type of work that's like going
- 16:47to take me away from my kid for the silliest reason.
- 16:52But it's kind of a relief to to have that.
- 16:56Do you do you feel like it's a like a kind of a weight taken
- 17:01off? Being kind of.
- 17:05Like this? Yeah.
- 17:06How is that It's? I would just say kind of because
- 17:09I still feel like it hasn't like the, the passion part, like
- 17:15hasn't left me. Like if there ever was an
- 17:18opportunity or a chance where like in the next couple years,
- 17:22if I find myself really back into a certain kind of like flow
- 17:27in the industry, I'm so open to that.
- 17:30I just right now creatively am showing up in different ways.
- 17:35And so as a new mom, what that looks like is like when I was in
- 17:39the city, I was actually getting involved with a lot of really
- 17:42cool like mom groups. And there are a lot of really
- 17:45interesting creative moms like out there starting their own
- 17:48businesses and hustling in different creative ways, but
- 17:52just like aren't on like stage. And I was getting really drawn
- 17:57to that kind of work. And then that kind of stemmed
- 18:00into me getting to know different brands and mom
- 18:04lifestyle and mom lifestyle content, being a content creator
- 18:09or and I because I have to big commercial and print background,
- 18:13I'm like I can kind of shape shift my skill set into doing
- 18:19this. And in a way it's still
- 18:21marketing myself. It's still fun for me.
- 18:23It's still aligned with what my trade is and where my training
- 18:28is. And so I've been really leaning
- 18:31into that direction. And Austin, we're in Austin.
- 18:35Yeah, a really cool. There's a lot of different
- 18:40things happening here. There's a lot of cool indie film
- 18:43happening here. Everyone I meet is not from
- 18:46here. Everyone's moving here from
- 18:48somewhere else, bringing something else to the table.
- 18:51And it's very collaborative. It's very kind.
- 18:54People are here to enjoy their life, to have a family and it it
- 18:57feels very conducive to all the things we were looking for.
- 19:01So we kind of moved to your sight unseen.
- 19:03We were just like, let's take the opportunity and go.
- 19:05I had no idea like what a good fit it would actually be.
- 19:08Yeah, I mean, even just from your Instagram, I'm like, oh,
- 19:13Austin looks pretty good. You know, I mean, like it's
- 19:16such, it's such a fusion of so many different cool cities and
- 19:23people. Yeah.
- 19:25It doesn't remind me of anything, you know what I mean?
- 19:28Even the climate like so far South and you hear like these
- 19:32really tropical birds chirping every all hours of the day and
- 19:35you're like, wow, like I really am really far South like, you
- 19:40know what I mean? And there's cacti and palm trees
- 19:43and scribble flowers and you know what I mean?
- 19:45Like and lots of like no scape yards with the rock.
- 19:49It just it's very deserty, but also tropical.
- 19:52It's just it doesn't remind me of anything.
- 19:53It's so it's, it's very, very cool.
- 19:55Yeah. Well, so now with your husband
- 19:59obviously like being busy and you having your own projects,
- 20:06your own businesses and things like that, what does, what does
- 20:10it look like? Kind of, I'm sure it's different
- 20:12daily, but what does like an average day kind of look like?
- 20:16Are you going off of his schedule?
- 20:19Is Farrah in school now? What does it look like?
- 20:24This this elusive balance in your.
- 20:28Oh, I know, I know. No, there's, there's really.
- 20:32So I started my own Amazon business Solo well, and I've
- 20:37been doing that going on for 4 1/2 years.
- 20:41Wow, congratulations. That's it.
- 20:43Thank you. Thank you.
- 20:43And and I started this just to learn how to sell online.
- 20:48I didn't start this. I mean, I started it was an
- 20:50extension of my love for fitness and Wellness because it is an
- 20:54active lifestyle brand. And I sell my best seller is a
- 20:57utility belt designed for runners, bikers, hikers, and it
- 21:02just took off. And Amazon's been an amazing
- 21:06platform to learn from. And so I've just been committed
- 21:10to it and I've got it running to where it doesn't need me around
- 21:16the clock, but I definitely have to do like daily check
- 21:21insurance. I do have a virtual assistant
- 21:23who does a lot of back end work because it's Amazon's, its own
- 21:26search engine, kind of like Google.
- 21:27It's like its own own SEO keywords and advertising and own
- 21:32thing like that. So I'm monetizing specifically
- 21:35only on Amazon, but I've done a good job to where the warehouse
- 21:41is in like I don't I don't need to be anywhere physically to run
- 21:45it. That that's like, yeah, I mean,
- 21:49that's the dream, right? Especially with a kid, you're
- 21:52like. Took me a little while to get
- 21:54there, really, really did. But you know, I had the pandemic
- 21:58to get there. And then I also had like, you
- 21:59know what I mean? Like I, I kind of just like
- 22:01taught myself through trial and error, got it to where it is
- 22:07now. And so, but with Shane's work,
- 22:12like he like for example, he didn't, he doesn't have parental
- 22:16leave. He doesn't, he doesn't get that.
- 22:19So a lot of this new mom life is something that is a full time
- 22:26job. So Farrah just started at a
- 22:28toddler school last like less than a month ago here in Austin.
- 22:35And so that has allowed me to I still make my own schedule in a
- 22:40way, especially freelancing as a content creator and as a
- 22:44performer. I still sing with the American
- 22:46Bombshells. And so I do gay.
- 22:48That's. So fun, I love.
- 22:52It just keeps things like, I don't know, I'm a singer, I've
- 22:56always been a singer. And so it just allows me to stay
- 23:00in that that realm. Fills that part.
- 23:05Yes, throughout the year, it's like a, it's like a, it's like a
- 23:08seasonal trend type of thing that I kind of go through ebbs
- 23:11and flows and I, I do feel lucky that with like Shane has a very
- 23:17consistent, you know, there's no freedom like as far as like, you
- 23:22know, he, he has to be physically there.
- 23:25So together we just, like I said, we just it's a team
- 23:29effort. Like he has his work.
- 23:30I have my work, which is mostly at home, but also, you know,
- 23:35juggling lots of other things, but I'm good at that.
- 23:37Like that's, that's being multifaceted is something that I
- 23:40feel grateful that I get to like use many different talents in
- 23:45different types of ways. Yeah, how?
- 23:49Gosh, I'm so impressed when when you, when you're like, I just
- 23:54kind of learned the like starting your business with on
- 23:58Amazon, like just by trial and error.
- 24:00I'm like, that is so impressive because I'm such a like I would
- 24:05get like, that's so hard to do And I feel like it kind of gets
- 24:10like looked over, but I'm like, that's so hard to learn
- 24:16something on your own as and like make it your own thing by
- 24:23trial and error and then having it become like something you can
- 24:28actually like count on and do like you just I'm so impressed.
- 24:33Like it that such a hard thing and it's nice that you were able
- 24:36to kind of get that going before your daughter came along too.
- 24:42That's kind of like. No, it's honestly been like the
- 24:45best gift I gave myself. And it was a pandemic, like
- 24:48something I literally was like I, the world stopped.
- 24:52I don't have any auditions. I just turned, I turned 30 on in
- 24:57May of 2020. So that was like a really crazy
- 24:59mind, you know, like identity crisis.
- 25:04I just turned 30. I literally just had a callback
- 25:07for Mean Girls on Broadway. But then that is done and
- 25:10everything's done and like, you know what I mean?
- 25:12Like and then there's nothing going on And all I have is a
- 25:16resume of really cool things that I've done.
- 25:19Yeah. Places I've gone to, but like
- 25:21what have I really, truly built? Like it was what it was like
- 25:24really something like, it can just fall apart like that and it
- 25:28really flip me out. And so I couldn't just sit
- 25:34around and wait for something to happen.
- 25:38I was still like manically like hoping as we all were self tape,
- 25:44self tape, self tape, self tape and like stuff happened.
- 25:47I joined SAG during the pandemic and booked my first guest star
- 25:50role. Like I feel like stuff still
- 25:52work. Wicks kind of happening but like
- 25:55everything changed. Yeah, yeah.
- 25:57And like you said, being able to kind of to build something for
- 26:01yourself as opposed to, well, it's the same thing where people
- 26:04are like just create your own, like make your own movie and
- 26:09things like that. It's like like that's.
- 26:12Start dancing on TikTok. Yeah, it's like, that's so much.
- 26:16Like it's hard, but at the same time it's like, OK, well, you do
- 26:21have to start. Yeah.
- 26:23Bomb wear, I guess to build something for yourself because
- 26:26if we are just like sitting around waiting for an audience
- 26:30and or you know, whatever it is, it can be draining just to like
- 26:38sit around and. I couldn't, I couldn't sit.
- 26:40And then it's and then because, like, for example, Shane doesn't
- 26:43have parental leave, like Shane's clinic opened as soon as
- 26:45it possibly could. Like there was, they were going
- 26:47to start taking patients. He was still, he was in pain
- 26:50management at the time. Like, yeah.
- 26:52Like as somebody in the healthcare world, like maybe
- 26:56they closed down their private practices for a couple a little
- 26:59bit, but it was a blip. So I couldn't just be the one
- 27:03sitting around twiddling my thumbs.
- 27:06So me having like something to learn and kind of like go back
- 27:10to school in a way. And it was an extension of I had
- 27:15been in the fitness industry for a while.
- 27:16I taught fitness. I had like just been working
- 27:20with Equinox plus they do a lot of like on demand classes.
- 27:25I was like filming, like I just kind of felt like it was just an
- 27:29extension of of like the huge part of my life that brings me a
- 27:34lot of joy. And so it like it had that to
- 27:38it. Like I would felt like there was
- 27:39purpose behind it. So there was like, it felt
- 27:43really, really hard, but it felt like I had nothing to lose.
- 27:47Right. Yeah, that's the.
- 27:48Beginner. There's like, No Fear, you know?
- 27:53That's true. How did you and your husband
- 27:57meet? Like, it doesn't seem like your
- 27:59paths would have crossed. Like is he and also like is he a
- 28:04creative person or is it nice to kind of have that balance of
- 28:07like of the two of you? Shane is actually extremely
- 28:14creative and that's like the coolest thing about him.
- 28:18He's doing exactly what he's meant to do.
- 28:20He is like an incredible doctor. He truly cares.
- 28:28I wish we could clone him in how he is with patients and just
- 28:32he's a truly an Angel on this earth.
- 28:34Like I I he's doing exactly what he's meant to do, but meeting.
- 28:39But he also like growing up, like played guitar, used to
- 28:44perform in college on Friday nights at like, I guess a
- 28:48college bar and that would be like an like he loved that.
- 28:52And I what I do know because I only met him later on in his
- 28:56adult life. So I've never been.
- 28:57I wasn't a part of that era for him, but I do know he did spend
- 29:01a lot of time. He was an Acrobat growing up, up
- 29:03until he was 18. Wow.
- 29:07Yeah, he surfed like, like there's so much about him that
- 29:12is very like theatrical and like, like energized in that
- 29:17way. So he he has the appreciation,
- 29:21he has the curiosity. He thinks it's so cool that I do
- 29:29it, you know what I mean? Or that I did it and so you can.
- 29:32Kind of live a little vicariously through.
- 29:35Yeah. But in a way, like, we still get
- 29:38to share it together because like, even when it comes down to
- 29:40like, going to see like, an epic movie, we both get the chance
- 29:45to, like, chat about, like, the parts that we liked.
- 29:47And, you know, those, like, conversations you have with
- 29:50other artists. Like I feel like we have those
- 29:52with each other. So I feel like I still have that
- 29:53connection with him. And we met through a mutual
- 30:00friend. He was in Boston at the time
- 30:02working at Mass General, and I was in New York and I had just
- 30:07gotten off of my tour and I was about to accept a contract to go
- 30:11abroad on a cruise ship. And I met him in this like 4
- 30:15month period of me being back in New York and I was like super
- 30:19single and just enjoying my freedom while I had it in New
- 30:23York City before I took another contract.
- 30:25And I met him I think maybe 3 weeks before I left.
- 30:31Wow. Yeah.
- 30:31And so we just stayed in touch the whole time, which is a
- 30:35surprise to me. And then when I came back off of
- 30:37that contract, he was still in Boston, I was in New York.
- 30:40But then we would try to meet up.
- 30:42He would come to the city or we would take a like, I came back
- 30:46in June. So we had like, the summer
- 30:49together. And it built slowly because of
- 30:54the long distance. But eventually he got to New
- 30:57York to work for this practice that he's still with.
- 31:00Oh. Well, that's perfect.
- 31:02Well, that's kind of like it meant to be like you both
- 31:05clearly wanted it because it's like, yeah, the long distance.
- 31:09I mean, luckily it's not like too far.
- 31:12I mean, you know, that's. How long is right, right.
- 31:16It was like if if I really needed to get to him because
- 31:20there was like, oh, there's a party going on.
- 31:21Do you want to be my plus one? It's like, yes, but I don't want
- 31:24to pay for a crazy flight. Like I'm going to hop on the
- 31:26Peter Pan bus, you know, and spend $30 to get to Boston in
- 31:30four hours. Like so it was doable.
- 31:33It was definitely a doable long distance, but I wouldn't win the
- 31:36Peter Pan bus if if you. If it wasn't love, Yeah.
- 31:41Oh truly, How has moving to Austin?
- 31:46Well, how long have you been there now?
- 31:48It hasn't been too long. So two months, two months
- 31:52exactly, yes. So, yeah, still kind of like,
- 31:56I'm sure like getting your bearings and getting to know the
- 32:00place, but how is it kind of like shifted your your
- 32:07perspective on your career, like you said before, just New York
- 32:13in general in your career, like going through all that like
- 32:18struggle. But how is it, how has like
- 32:22being in Austin so far? Kind of has it changed anything
- 32:27about like what you want to continue to pursue or has?
- 32:34Yeah. Yes, I feel I feel already just
- 32:37in this new era, mom era, this new lifestyle that we've been
- 32:41living and new brand new, like family with little, little kids.
- 32:45My my whole self identity shift has like like shape shifted
- 32:49right. Like, I'm still a creative
- 32:51person, but I'm just showing up differently in those creative
- 32:53ways. And I'm somebody who really
- 32:58like. Goals.
- 33:00Don't really like, I don't know, but that doesn't give me like
- 33:03ha, ha, I got a goal. Like I don't, I have visions, I
- 33:06have clear visions or I get moved by the momentum of life
- 33:12around me. I get moved energetically from
- 33:15within and I'm like, I'm going this way and I can change my
- 33:18mind and I'm somebody who really thrives and change and
- 33:22transformation. So moving here has really hit
- 33:27like like that part of me that I, I just start moving quicker,
- 33:34I start aligning with the right people faster and in a way
- 33:39that's kind of like what being an actor is.
- 33:41It's like you say yes to a lot of auditions.
- 33:44We don't know what the yes is going to be.
- 33:46And then it's like everything's a journey.
- 33:48Everything's like, you know, oh, and then I ended up doing this,
- 33:50but I didn't expect that to happen.
- 33:52And then I met this person. I didn't expect to meet that
- 33:54person. And then I then I got here.
- 33:55Everything's a Lily pad. So goals for me like have never
- 33:59been how I like operate. I always operate off of like as
- 34:03actors do. And so it's like following my
- 34:07intuition and being really true to myself, but also aligning
- 34:10with places that align with me. And so Austin has just kind of
- 34:15given me my spark back. And so since I've been here, I
- 34:21feel like even though my social life isn't like as great, like
- 34:24New York, your social life is just, I've had friends there.
- 34:27I've been there for years. Like, you know, there's, I could
- 34:30always have plans on a Friday night if I wanted to.
- 34:32So that's a little weird, like being here and not really
- 34:34knowing anyone. But I joined a mom group.
- 34:36I feel like I'm meeting some really interesting people, and
- 34:41I'm somebody who just gets really fearless in
- 34:44transformation and change. And so I'm just like putting
- 34:47myself out there differently. And I think that that was really
- 34:51missing in New York. Like I lost that spark.
- 34:55Yeah, yeah, I guess it could probably be like, I don't want
- 35:00to say the word complacency, that's not the word I'm thinking
- 35:02of. But like you're being
- 35:04comfortable and maybe like, yeah, the change.
- 35:10I mean, this sounds like it's been so great for you, like.
- 35:14It's been refreshing. It's been really refreshing and
- 35:19everything has felt easy. It's a cross country move that I
- 35:23did while I was pregnant with a toddler.
- 35:24Like it should be hard. That don't not be easy.
- 35:28Everything like I moved into this house sight and see never
- 35:31saw it. You know what I mean?
- 35:32Like I, I just, we literally like everything has just been
- 35:34like worked. And that to me is part of like
- 35:39the, the sign of like, OK, I'm where I meant to be.
- 35:42Keep going this way. Yeah.
- 35:44How do you manage to like, cuz obviously like, like you just
- 35:48said, that's a lot to be like moving across country with a
- 35:52toddler while you're pregnant. But like, how do you, how do you
- 35:56manage to like keep up your creativity and the energy, like
- 36:04even just like your social media and like your content, which is,
- 36:09which is so great and I love to follow and everyone should
- 36:12follow. But like, how do you manage like
- 36:17on the other side of that? Because I, because I know what
- 36:20it is when you're like setting up the camera and doing all this
- 36:23and I got a shower and I got to do my hair.
- 36:25How do you manage to not be like, oh, I got to do this.
- 36:28I got to do this. How do you manage to like just
- 36:35keep spark? I mean like you said it.
- 36:39I don't know. It is, it is like a momentum
- 36:42thing. I know exactly what you mean.
- 36:44Like there are some weeks where you're just like, the last thing
- 36:47I want to do is like flaunt around on camera or like, or you
- 36:51know what I mean, to like set up my set up my stuff.
- 36:56I have to say that it's a, it comes from a very genuine place.
- 37:01I'm not, I'm not really looking at it like livelihood yet.
- 37:05I'm looking at it like a way that I get a chance to really
- 37:10meet really cool brands and work with really interesting people
- 37:13and putting myself out there and socializing has always been
- 37:17like, like I, I'm just like a community type of person.
- 37:20So for example, like even moving here, there's a really, really
- 37:25cute baby store down the road and I like walked in and I was
- 37:28like, Hey, you guys do partnerships.
- 37:29I just like think your store is great.
- 37:31I would love to support you and like, it's just, it's just like
- 37:34that is. And I'm very I'm very impulsive
- 37:38and I get waves of energy from that momentum.
- 37:43And so I just try to stay in that momentum.
- 37:46And so if for something, I'm going to do it like it's a job
- 37:49because it is. But just me filming creatively
- 37:52comes from a very genuine place. Like I genuinely like get an
- 37:56idea or a topic I want to talk about and I try to put something
- 38:00together. I think that's very.
- 38:03I think it's very. Obvious from your content that
- 38:05like it doesn't look like all the things that you talk about
- 38:09and the things that you share. Definitely that comes across
- 38:14definitely that you're that you're so like invested in what
- 38:19you're talking about. You're not just like, I have to
- 38:21say this because I'm selling XYZ or like, you know, because like
- 38:26what you're sharing is so like personal and it does feel
- 38:31connected. So to hear that like, yeah, it
- 38:34comes across that way because it is.
- 38:36So that makes sense. No, I mean it just when it comes
- 38:39to. Like, and sometimes it's as
- 38:40simple as you have a friend who's also a creative, you know,
- 38:45content creator or whatever, doing the same thing and they do
- 38:47something that inspires you and you're like, Oh my gosh, that's
- 38:49a great idea. Or you see a trend and you feel
- 38:52like you're aligned with it and you're like, I want to hop on
- 38:54that trend. And I don't know, I feel like I
- 38:57don't, I'm, I don't know the, the insurance and outs of social
- 39:00media very well, but I do know that it's an amazing outlet.
- 39:04And if you're somebody who feels confident in front of a camera
- 39:07and I always have enjoyed being like someone on on stage or
- 39:12doing like I have a lot of commercial and print background,
- 39:15like it's for me just comes naturally to want to do it.
- 39:19And so I really like I, but I will say there are some weeks
- 39:25where I'm like, I, I just kind of want to be a mom this week,
- 39:29You know, that's, I mean, that's.
- 39:32Like being a mom is enough. Right now, it's a lot.
- 39:38What are you looking forward to? Like, are you like looking
- 39:43forward to when baby #2 girl number 20?
- 39:48Do you have a name? No, I don't.
- 39:51And I'm, I'm somebody who like I, I would probably keep it to
- 39:55myself anyway, but we really don't like, we, we're having a
- 39:58hard time both agreeing on one. So we have a list like a days
- 40:03long list of like aesthetics and and tone and culture and all
- 40:09that stuff. But even like meaning, but like
- 40:13there's not like he has a favorite and I have a favorite
- 40:16and then like we don't like have a mutual 1.
- 40:18And so we're both giving each other like it's important.
- 40:21It's important to him. It's important to me to like
- 40:24really feel like both connected and and well, yeah, you can't
- 40:30pick one that the. Other doesn't like, well, naming
- 40:34a human. Being is like kind of a big deal
- 40:36and I no one, you don't really think about that until they're
- 40:40like, Oh my gosh, like this is real.
- 40:42I'm about to name somebody and they're going to have this.
- 40:44This is going to be their name, you know?
- 40:46Well, then with the second, it's like, well, it kind of has to.
- 40:49Fit with like like Farrah. And like I.
- 40:54Don't know they like they can't rhyme with each other.
- 40:57That'd be kind. Of funny or maybe you could but
- 40:59like I don't want it you know what there's the different
- 41:01things yeah you're probably not going to be like Farrah and.
- 41:03Sarah like correct? Yeah.
- 41:06I mean, you kind of have to practice.
- 41:08Like yelling out those names, like come to dinner, like just
- 41:14angry yell names and then. Stop fighting right but.
- 41:20But looking forward to baby #2 coming.
- 41:25Do you or and did you do with this with Farrah as well?
- 41:29Did you have a plan of like obviously we don't have like a
- 41:33set maternity thing? Are you just kind of like
- 41:37seeing? How you feel?
- 41:39Like or do you and like husband doesn't have it either.
- 41:44That's so hard. How do you manage to like plan
- 41:49taking a certain amount of time or you just kind of like seeing
- 41:54how that goes? What did you do with Sarah?
- 41:58Well, with Sarah. I'm sure they'll be different.
- 42:02But with Sarah, I didn't do must.
- 42:04I had a job like I actually had a job with a sort of company
- 42:08that I kept because I had incredible health insurance and
- 42:13I enjoyed the job. The job was actually in New York
- 42:17City working with a ton of different e-commerce brands.
- 42:21We opened up their first brick and mortar.
- 42:24So I was stationed on Bleecker St. and I ran a bunch of
- 42:27different stores. And so it that job actually, you
- 42:34know, I, I had that. So like, I knew I was going to
- 42:38have mat leave this time. I won't, but I noticed we had
- 42:44mat leave with that one. And so that was pretty planned.
- 42:47And because I had gotten close to 42 weeks, they don't let you
- 42:51go past 42 weeks without like getting induced.
- 42:54She was cozy in there. Literally was like locked and
- 42:58loaded. And I was showing signs for free
- 43:01labor for about a month, but I just wasn't an active labor.
- 43:05So eventually they had to just give her an eviction notice.
- 43:09And so in that way that was kind of planned because you just kind
- 43:11of show up at the hospital and you deliver.
- 43:13And because I got the pitocin and I was already in pre labor
- 43:17for a while, my body went into active labor and I delivered
- 43:20within like 6 1/2 hours. Wow.
- 43:23Like the same girls on the same shift also delivered the per
- 43:28like live with a baby and they're like, that never
- 43:30happens. Usually once you get into labor,
- 43:32it takes like another 20 hours to be in labor.
- 43:35So I, I in that way that was kind of ish planned.
- 43:42However, I had no idea. Like no one really.
- 43:46You don't know what to expect with breastfeeding.
- 43:48You don't know what to expect as far as like how you're going to
- 43:50feel about going back to work. Because I had that option.
- 43:53Do I want to go back? And because Shane didn't have
- 43:57parental leave, I, I don't know, like it was really hard.
- 44:01It was winter time. I was by myself.
- 44:04I didn't set myself up with success for success by having
- 44:07family come in. I really thought I'd be able to
- 44:10just like kind of breastfeed and hang out in the house during the
- 44:13day. And I was, I was like depressed.
- 44:15It was postpartum Blues. And you're.
- 44:18With the newborn and you're like getting all the newborn high,
- 44:21but you can't share it with anybody.
- 44:22I was all alone, couldn't go for walks because it was freezing,
- 44:25it was snowing. And so I just kind of felt like
- 44:29like for the 1st 90 days, like it was pretty was pretty hard.
- 44:35So for this one, I'm I'm in Austin now.
- 44:38So hopefully a better postpartum experience as far as being able
- 44:42to go for walks and get sunshine.
- 44:44Definitely going to set myself up for success and hopefully
- 44:47have someone in the house to help either around the house or
- 44:51with Farrah so I can be with a newborn for the first month or
- 44:54two. And because Shane has to go to
- 44:57work and yeah, I, I, I don't necessarily have a plan, but I
- 45:05think I'm going to like, it's hard.
- 45:08Yeah, I. Mean I also.
- 45:09Have a plan because then I feel like.
- 45:11Also if you have a plan it's most likely not going to.
- 45:17It's hard. It's like almost impossible,
- 45:19like all. I can do is.
- 45:21And that's why it's almost hard to enjoy.
- 45:23Like the thought like, Oh my gosh, I'm pregnant.
- 45:25Like all I can think about is the work ahead of me.
- 45:27Like, oh, it's going to be hard work, right.
- 45:31So yeah. And then?
- 45:32I'm. I'm so I'm so curious when with
- 45:37like the second babies now, because like I said before, I'm
- 45:41like I I don't know, I I'm driving myself mad with having
- 45:46another or not, but I'm like I'm sure yeah, like the.
- 45:49Idea. There's so many like good
- 45:53things, like you said, just going to have a sister and to
- 45:55see Farrah, like with the baby is just going to Oh my God, I'm
- 45:59just already dying over what like you're the photos are going
- 46:04to look like it's going to I mean I can't I.
- 46:08I and it's so crazy like I'm I crying I'm like tearing.
- 46:13Up over. No, it is.
- 46:14It really is. It's like.
- 46:15The most amazing thing to ever happen to you, and it's the
- 46:18hardest thing you'll ever do. It's truly like both truths.
- 46:25Yeah. Because then it's like.
- 46:28The love, you know, talking about like the love just
- 46:31expanding, but beforehand you're thinking of it like splitting.
- 46:36You're like, how am I going to split my time between the two?
- 46:40But it's like with Sarah, being in the Love expands I.
- 46:45Really am Everyone says the love expands and I'm trusting that
- 46:49because when you're when I having a hard time enjoying this
- 46:55pregnancy just because it's been a lot of different like
- 46:59discomforts that I would rather not be going through.
- 47:02And then also and then also I I'm so distracted with having a
- 47:09toddler and like being so invested and so in love with her
- 47:12that I'm like forgetting that I'm pregnant sometimes too.
- 47:17And so I there is there's times when sometimes when I'm just
- 47:21alone. I just want to like be with her,
- 47:25right? Like I feel like that's what she
- 47:27deserves. And I feel like I want to start
- 47:28building on that connection because I wouldn't when I had
- 47:31when I was just Farrah, we did everything together and it was
- 47:34like I always just had Farrah. I was like, that was she was
- 47:36everything. So it is like you do feel.
- 47:40Split and then. They say that it expands and
- 47:43that it's just yeah. Do you have?
- 47:47Do you have any siblings? I know you say don't have
- 47:48sisters. Do you have any siblings?
- 47:50Yes, I have a younger brother. Oh, so you understand like.
- 47:55You understand that like, yeah, I mean, you know it.
- 48:00I, I mean, I guess every family is different, of course, but but
- 48:05I don't think yeah. I mean, I can see how it would
- 48:10definitely. I mean, my, I can see that my
- 48:13parents, the three of us, like we absolutely like, it's not
- 48:18like, you know, absolutely every and, and each.
- 48:23Child is different too. Yeah, yeah.
- 48:25That'll be interesting seeing how yes, 2 girls.
- 48:31Be so different. Or I mean, and who knows, like
- 48:35maybe they'll be similar. Like I don't know.
- 48:39You just isn't that. The wild thing is you just never
- 48:42know who is coming out. I know, I know and I do.
- 48:45Feel like energetically like she's different, like yeah,
- 48:51yeah, that's. But like you said, excuse me
- 48:55with with like the pregnancy, the first pregnancy.
- 48:58Yeah, you don't. You're like, what else do I have
- 49:02to think? Not besides life, but totally
- 49:05I'll have it and being able to enjoy like just being with
- 49:10you're pregnant belly. But yeah, with a having a
- 49:13toddler too, I can imagine you being like, oh, right, I'm also
- 49:17pregnant like why am I so tired? Why am I so XY like right?
- 49:22Oh, I also. AM.
- 49:24Fully pregnant, Yeah. No, it's it's been like an
- 49:28Olympic. Sport.
- 49:29It truly has, yeah, but you have also.
- 49:33Managed, like you said, you're, you've been into fitness and
- 49:36everything and like managing to stay.
- 49:43What's the word empty? Stay active with your pregnancy.
- 49:47I, I mean, I feel like you, you stay probably you stayed active
- 49:51with being pregnant with Farrah, But do you find that just like
- 49:55staying active has helped you and, and like during the
- 50:02pregnancy, but also like after? I feel like for me it helped me.
- 50:09I don't know the difference but I feel like it helped like not
- 50:13quicken my recovery but I don't know maybe helped muscle memory
- 50:18is everything like there? Are so many things you can still
- 50:20do while pregnant that you can still maintain the strength that
- 50:24you built before. There's so many things that you
- 50:25can do that you know, you can train yourself for labor.
- 50:30You can train yourself to still connect to your core after you
- 50:34deliver. So yes, they can definitely help
- 50:38with recovery. For me, moving the bump feels
- 50:42like such a great relief. And so I've been experiencing a
- 50:48lot more pressure and swelling for this pregnancy.
- 50:50So sometimes like my get up and go to go be active is a little
- 50:54bit slower right now. But as soon as I start moving,
- 50:58it's like, Oh my gosh, like the circulation feels better.
- 51:02I'm like, I get a chance to really truly connect to the
- 51:05belly and like lift the pelvic floor up and like all of that
- 51:09stuff is so important. And so you can't for me, like
- 51:12maintaining that connection is imperative to not only my mental
- 51:17health, but just like feeling good throughout the pregnancy as
- 51:20much as I possibly can. Like even today I, I did a
- 51:23workout, but then I ended the workout with like a little
- 51:26brisk, very brisk jog because I was like, no, I have the energy.
- 51:31I, I feel connected. I feel warm.
- 51:33So just finished a workout. Like I'm just going to try to
- 51:36get a little bit of a runner's high right now and like, and
- 51:39like remind myself of why I love running because because right
- 51:44now, like my pelvic floor has so much pressure going on that
- 51:47running isn't like my favorite thing to do, right.
- 51:50And I have like the inspiration to just like, I'm just going to
- 51:52go run for a second. Like, I take it, you know.
- 51:55Yeah. Well, like you said, it's that.
- 51:57Momentum thing that you're yes, yes.
- 52:01Find, try and keep it up. Or like if you're.
- 52:03Feeling with them, go with it. Yeah, your belt, the solo well
- 52:12that is also like can kind of help with the postpartum a
- 52:16little bit. I have a lower back compression.
- 52:19Belt that's meant to help and with your SI joint, it
- 52:23compresses and it also compresses above.
- 52:25But yes, I do have a lot of pregnant people using it as also
- 52:31while they're working out a way to stay aligned, lift the bump
- 52:36up a little bit. So yes, that does come in handy,
- 52:39especially if you are definitely like feeling like you're
- 52:43carrying lower, which I am, and you feel like you need to like
- 52:47get some pressure off for a little bit and then so you want
- 52:50to go for a walk. Like I feel like it just gives
- 52:52you that like relief. And because we just made the
- 52:56cross country move, I don't really have like a lot of
- 52:59product in the house right now, all my products in warehouse, in
- 53:02the warehouse, but like I really should be wearing like mine way
- 53:05more often. I'm in compression tights
- 53:07actually. So compression.
- 53:10Compression. Wears where it's at.
- 53:12That is true. So true.
- 53:14Well, I will make sure to like I'll get from you all the all
- 53:19the links to put them in the show notes and we'll yes, yes,
- 53:22and it's almost holiday. Season we're revving up for
- 53:25those sales. So I just got back in stock with
- 53:27pretty much all my best sellers, but my main best seller is the
- 53:30running belt and like I will always sell out of that one,
- 53:33which is like crazy. So I just I've I've been lucky
- 53:39with that amazing product and so we are getting back in stock and
- 53:44isn't that crazy. The holidays are around the
- 53:46corner. I can't.
- 53:48I can't remember like I've seen this.
- 53:49Halloween over. We're we're in, we're in, we're
- 53:52locked in. We're I know I'm like. 2025 just
- 53:56started though and I'm like Oh my God, yeah, you're right.
- 54:02Possible. I feel like.
- 54:03Also, I mean, as you get older, obviously time goes by so
- 54:09quickly, but having a kid, my God, I don't know if you if
- 54:12feels like it's just like bam bam bam, like everything happens
- 54:16yes, so you you. You can visually see time
- 54:20happening because literally you're in a moment with them and
- 54:25then you're already like grieving the moment that you're
- 54:29in because you know that they're not going to do that for very
- 54:31long. Like they're going to be on to
- 54:33something else the next week probably.
- 54:36And so the first six months of me being a mom, like it felt
- 54:42like an eternity, like every day, it felt like the longest
- 54:45day of my life. Like I was like learning so much
- 54:48and changing so much and my emotions and who I was becoming.
- 54:53And like, it just felt like an initiation.
- 54:55Becoming a mom just felt like, you know, it was hard.
- 55:00And and then after the first six months, I've blinked, right?
- 55:05Blinked. And here we are.
- 55:06Like, I can't believe it. Like, and you're what?
- 55:08Literally seeing time flash before your eyes just by looking
- 55:12at them. Yeah, it's wild cuz I feel like.
- 55:15At first, you know, they're, you know, they're baby.
- 55:18I don't know, like looking back, I feel like my daughter now.
- 55:22Now it's like, OK, she's she's over three.
- 55:26I'm like, I feel like she was never not talking, was never not
- 55:30walking. And like, I look at, you know,
- 55:33pictures and I'm like, wait, when was that?
- 55:36Like I remember, I remember I. I couldn't when she was like
- 55:41because every single day felt like the longest day ever.
- 55:44I was so present with her. So like as I'm holding her at
- 55:49like 8 weeks old, I couldn't even visualize her crawling.
- 55:54I couldn't visualize her sitting up on her own.
- 55:56Like I couldn't even see it. I was like, there's no way she's
- 55:59got, she's going to be big. Like she's going to be this
- 56:01forever. Like, I just felt so locked in
- 56:04to the day, the early, early days.
- 56:07Like I was there with her every day.
- 56:11Yeah. Yeah, yeah, I remember.
- 56:13Those types of. Things where you're like
- 56:15visualizing, it's just even like the jumper that we had, I'm
- 56:18like, her feet are never going to touch the floor.
- 56:21Like that's insane. Like the idea of her feet that
- 56:24she's going to get bigger, like that's.
- 56:26Crazy. I'm like, that's never going to
- 56:28happen. Or like toys.
- 56:29Where it's like putting something inside something.
- 56:31I'm like, how is that ever going to happen?
- 56:34And I'm, you know, it's, I know why.
- 56:38They have a way of just. Doing.
- 56:40Stuff too that I never even taught her and she's just doing
- 56:43it like OK great, but not and then you get to.
- 56:46Like experience it again with a yeah girl.
- 56:52Oh my gosh. It's and I have a.
- 56:53Very. Yeah.
- 56:54No, it's true. That's true.
- 56:55Whenever I see someone with a newborn, I get excited and like
- 57:00that to me is a good sign. I'm like, OK, like I am excited
- 57:05because it's, it is like you because I just did it.
- 57:08I all I can think about is the work, but I, I feel, I feel like
- 57:14the second time is like such a gift because the anxiety is not
- 57:18there. Like I just did it.
- 57:20I'm I'm Sarah's still in diaper. She's not potty trained yet.
- 57:24So it's like I'm, I'm not like done with diapers at the sort of
- 57:28I'm I'm still in the. So it's like.
- 57:30I don't have the anxiety that I did.
- 57:32Postpartum anxiety is so real too.
- 57:35And like staying up until 2:00 in the morning, breastfeeding
- 57:38and Googling how to care for my baby, you know, like, what does
- 57:41this mean? I don't, I, I'm not, I know that
- 57:44I won't have that. And that's like, that's a gift.
- 57:47Like you can actually enjoy the newborn stage.
- 57:49Yeah, that makes me I'm. Always like I wish you could
- 57:52have like the second baby first, you know what I mean?
- 57:55Like just have without because yeah, like you said that nice
- 58:01you. It's like, oh, she has a rash.
- 58:05It's going to be fine like these to get I know what to.
- 58:09Do I know who to call? You know?
- 58:11Yes. Exactly.
- 58:12Yeah, I have. I have a.
- 58:14List of questions I feel like I should share it on Instagram
- 58:17because I mean it would be so embarrassing but like the
- 58:20questions that I have from like that I wrote in my notes like
- 58:25going to the doctor each time are so ridiculous that I'm like,
- 58:32what was I asking like it would just be like how often do I
- 58:36bathe her like the the silliest things that I'm like, I mean you
- 58:41don't know you don't know that's like the.
- 58:42Crap part. Like if you really don't know
- 58:46it, it's not like a stupid question.
- 58:48No, there are definitely no. Stupid questions for sure but
- 58:52I'm also like I have taken care of babies for my whole life.
- 58:58Basically the idea of. Like these?
- 59:01Questions where I'm like, I know what to do, but it's like you
- 59:06said, there are no dumb questions when it comes to being
- 59:09a mom. And I feel like having the
- 59:12community and like, moms that you don't feel stupid asking
- 59:16questions to, you don't want to like, call your doctor for
- 59:19something like you can't feel stupid asking these questions
- 59:24and you don't want to. It's like, yeah, of course we're
- 59:27all Googling everything. But it's like to be able to have
- 59:31other moms to tie down and be like, OK, but tell me like the
- 59:37real side. And that was the amazing thing.
- 59:39Too about becoming a mom, it was like as soon as Pharaoh was born
- 59:43I had like these friends of mine that are moms that are moms
- 59:47before me coming out of the woodwork like.
- 59:52Like all of a sudden. Now we're texting way more than
- 59:55we've ever texted before, you know, like I haven't talked to
- 59:57you since college kind of a thing.
- 59:59But now it's like, oh, we are connected.
- 1:00:01Do you need anything? Like what can I send you?
- 1:00:04And that there's like an army of Mamas that just keep this world
- 1:00:09going round and round. And it's like, yeah, it's really
- 1:00:12kind of like a pay it forward thing because.
- 1:00:15All of my high school friends, they feel like good friends with
- 1:00:18back home. Yeah, they had babies way before
- 1:00:21me. You guys went through this.
- 1:00:24You went. It's gonna make you feel like,
- 1:00:27well, crap. Like I didn't call and check in,
- 1:00:29like, because you have no idea what they could actually be
- 1:00:32going through. And like, now that you've seen
- 1:00:34behind closed doors what they were doing.
- 1:00:37Yeah, I got I then the next mom that comes down the Pike for you
- 1:00:42to do it, or you're like, I'm helping her.
- 1:00:44Yeah. You really got to pay it.
- 1:00:45Forward for sure. Yeah, you do, yes.
- 1:00:49So what do you feel like has surprised you most about
- 1:00:52becoming a mom? Like, I feel like it.
- 1:00:55I mean, from an outsider view, it seems like it has come very
- 1:01:01naturally to you. But like, then hearing about,
- 1:01:04you know, the the like, first few months and your husband
- 1:01:09working and like having it be a struggle.
- 1:01:13But what is Yeah. What surprised you most or
- 1:01:17something that like about yourself becoming a mom?
- 1:01:23So that's a hard question. No.
- 1:01:26It's. Nothing can really prepare you.
- 1:01:30So for me it was more about like trusting my intuition.
- 1:01:35I've always had a very, very strong like connection to my
- 1:01:39inner self and my intuition. And so when you become a parent,
- 1:01:45you just, you're like a superhero.
- 1:01:48All of a sudden you can like you can see things before they
- 1:01:50happen. You've eyes in the back of your
- 1:01:52head, like you can feel their emotions.
- 1:01:55You know what's going to happen at you to start like, and so for
- 1:02:00me, there are so many baby books out there and there are so
- 1:02:04there's so much advice online and there is a million ways you
- 1:02:07can, you can parent a child and raise a child.
- 1:02:11For me, I, it's not even just like the title of me being a
- 1:02:16mom. It's like me being Sarah's mom,
- 1:02:19like I love being Farrah's mom. I feel like that.
- 1:02:23It's like I love being a mother. Like I don't, I didn't have like
- 1:02:26a lot of dreams of like having having family and stuff.
- 1:02:30But like, I know her and I know her soul and I can feel her and
- 1:02:35I intuitively connect to who she is energetically and her soul
- 1:02:40and and so my intuition I feel like has just like gotten this.
- 1:02:47I don't know, like it's almost like I I'm in this like element
- 1:02:50of like I Pat. Myself on the back a lot like.
- 1:02:54I'm like, gosh, like I'm, I'm, I'm doing a good job by her.
- 1:02:57Like that's all I want to do is do a good job by her.
- 1:03:00And I care so much about that. And so like little things, I had
- 1:03:06the opportunity to really go back to that job that I had
- 1:03:09around four months postpartum. And my intuition, like
- 1:03:12everything was screaming at me. It's like, it's too soon.
- 1:03:14It's too soon. Like I can't let this baby is
- 1:03:17not going to do well if I put her in a daycare.
- 1:03:19Like I'm I need to stay home. Like things like that.
- 1:03:22Like you start listening to your inner voice, you start knowing
- 1:03:25what to do next. And then other things don't
- 1:03:27really matter. And you're like, if I don't have
- 1:03:30anything in this world, I'm Farah's mom, you know?
- 1:03:34And I think that just really you can never really fully
- 1:03:37experience with that is gonna feel like until it happens.
- 1:03:41Yeah. Truly.
- 1:03:42Well. Yeah, if you've had like already
- 1:03:45had your, your own strong intuition and now you have your
- 1:03:51mom intuition. So yeah, like you said, you're
- 1:03:53just this superpower intuition woman.
- 1:03:57And it is we all have it. We literally.
- 1:03:59All have it and sometimes I see a lot of moms.
- 1:04:02I was even chatting with a mom recently and she was saying, you
- 1:04:06know, there's so much information out there that you
- 1:04:09like forget that you have your own intuition and that you have
- 1:04:14your own like inner guidance system.
- 1:04:16Like can't even know what to do next because like, you're just
- 1:04:19like letting raise your child, right?
- 1:04:23So yeah, it's. Hard, like you said, having so
- 1:04:27much information out there. And that's how I feel.
- 1:04:30Like I laugh at myself about all those like questions from the
- 1:04:33doctor or like for the doctor, like looking back, I'm like, I
- 1:04:37know all of this. Like just being, it's hard to
- 1:04:40like trust your instinct and trust your gut when you're like,
- 1:04:46once it's right. It's important to know.
- 1:04:49It's important. To know, like the correct way of
- 1:04:51doing things, right. Safety thing, of course.
- 1:04:54Yeah, yeah. And then everything else.
- 1:04:57Like when it comes to like personality and all these
- 1:05:00things, like, I mean, I love taking good advice when it comes
- 1:05:04down the pipe for me. And I love picking up stuff and
- 1:05:07like, oh, I'm going to use that or that's really true for me.
- 1:05:10But if it doesn't suit you, like keep going, keep doing your own
- 1:05:14thing because your intuition for your child is all you need.
- 1:05:18Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:05:21Well. I.
- 1:05:22Can talked to you so long I I know I.
- 1:05:25Feel like mom stuff. I'm like, I know, right?
- 1:05:30Isn't that funny? I feel like like it happens with
- 1:05:33actors too. And it's like you get actors or
- 1:05:36creative people talking about something crazy, then you can't
- 1:05:39stop. And then it's like, and then you
- 1:05:41have a mom like talk about my kid of tell me when to shut up.
- 1:05:45Like that's so true. And.
- 1:05:48Now that my husband, Shane, he's now and now he's a dad.
- 1:05:52He's like the way I relate to my patients now being a dad, all I
- 1:05:56have to do is ask about their child or they ask about my child
- 1:06:00and the way we connect, like the conversations flowing.
- 1:06:04It's true. Like being a parent.
- 1:06:06Like it's this next level. Yeah.
- 1:06:09Do you find? That that's also kind of helped
- 1:06:12you a little bit moving Austin with like already having Farrah,
- 1:06:18being able to connect with obviously you're having to like
- 1:06:23God making new friends as an adult is so hard, but hard you
- 1:06:28find like already being. A mom.
- 1:06:30You can be like, oh you're kid, you're good, let's talk about
- 1:06:32our kids like that type. 100% as soon as I got her enrolled in
- 1:06:36this. Daycare cuz I didn't know if I
- 1:06:37wanted to do like a, you know, a helper throughout the day or
- 1:06:40have her in a school. And honestly, like I just my
- 1:06:44child like Farrah is so active. She's such a busy child and her
- 1:06:49energy needs to be like used. And so she like, she comes home
- 1:06:55from a full day of school and, like, is a complete mess.
- 1:06:59She has all of her and food and all this stuff and she's not
- 1:07:02done. She's like, I want to go
- 1:07:03outside. I want to, I want to do this.
- 1:07:04I want to bring. She's so physical.
- 1:07:07So it was a great decision getting her into, like, a
- 1:07:10program where she can, like, use that.
- 1:07:13Yeah. Farrah and Mae would be great.
- 1:07:14Friends. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:07:16Oh my God. Nay.
- 1:07:17But I, I, I do, I think that having mom groups, having other
- 1:07:23parents aligned with like other play dates ever getting a couple
- 1:07:25play dates, like, yeah, I mean, and also like mom friends are
- 1:07:30different, right? Because like you cut through the
- 1:07:33BS of the socializing part and you're just like, oh, you know,
- 1:07:39I just two under 2. Oh my God.
- 1:07:41I'm like drowning. And then you just, you just kind
- 1:07:44of cut the BS and you're just there for each other in that
- 1:07:48way. And, and so I feel like that's
- 1:07:51been a great connector. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:07:55Well, I'm so. Excited for you and like it's
- 1:07:57soccer, I'm excited for you too. And I know you're like in LA and
