- 0:01Speaker 1: College football fans, Welcome back to the College Ball Show.
- 0:06Speaker 1: He's Marshall Lump Chris, and we're here to talk about
- 0:10Speaker 1: some good old fashion college football. Man, the semi finals
- 0:15Speaker 1: are here. It's our first year of making it through
- 0:20Speaker 1: the twelve team playoff and it's coming Thursday and Friday. Man,
- 0:26Speaker 1: big big matchups. Penn State, Notre Dame, and I know
- 0:31Speaker 1: that Notre Dame people get match so I'll say Notre Dame,
- 0:33Speaker 1: Penn State, Okay, Ohio State, Texas. You know, right before
- 0:40Speaker 1: we hit record, we're just talking about a bet. You
- 0:42Speaker 1: they're very happy with blue blood name recognition here of late,
- 0:49Speaker 1: really interesting matchups, some teams that can get up and
- 0:53Speaker 1: score some points but still have respectable defenses, and two
- 0:57Speaker 1: teams that they want to run the ball, they want
- 1:00Speaker 1: to play good defense. So he kind of got a
- 1:02Speaker 1: little bit of everything, kind of similar to the last
- 1:06Speaker 1: you know, the last one when it was Notre Dame
- 1:09Speaker 1: in Georgia, you know, very very similar style matchup. So
- 1:12Speaker 1: we'll start kind of lightly recapping. You know, we're gonna
- 1:18Speaker 1: recap some of the quarterfinals. Of course, the quarterfinals, we're
- 1:21Speaker 1: not gonna spend too much time on that just because
- 1:23Speaker 1: you know, it was coming on a week ago, and
- 1:27Speaker 1: for all the shit talking that was going on, and
- 1:30Speaker 1: I'm not just talking about the SEC cry babies. I'm
- 1:33Speaker 1: talking about, like, for all the complaints of what was
- 1:37Speaker 1: going on with the seeding and the this and the
- 1:41Speaker 1: that and the transfer portal and how you know college
- 1:43Speaker 1: stood I was ruined and all that shit. All these
- 1:46Speaker 1: complaints we've gotten. It was a good pole season, dude.
- 1:49Speaker 1: It was actually a very entertaining I had a great
- 1:52Speaker 1: time watching some of these games. So we're gonna talk
- 1:54Speaker 1: about those two and then of course preview and predict
- 1:58Speaker 1: Thursday and Friday games heading into the National Championship, which
- 2:03Speaker 1: is not it's two Mondays from now, which is crazy
- 2:09Speaker 1: to go this long, but it's also pretty cool. If

- 3:20Speaker 1: go ahead and bring in my co host Marshall. First
- 3:24Speaker 1: and foremost, Marshall, how are you doing? You got a
- 3:28Speaker 1: big winter storm coming into town in Texas.
- 3:32Speaker 2: How's it going down? I thirty five? My friend, Uh,
- 3:38Speaker 2: not too bad again. This past weekend of sports was
- 3:42Speaker 2: a bit painful for a team we both cheer on,
- 3:46Speaker 2: and but this weekend looks like I'll be able to
- 3:49Speaker 2: watch all the football games because I'll be home relaxing
- 3:52Speaker 2: because there is a lot of snow coming five to
- 3:54Speaker 2: eight inches apparently of snow we're gonna hit Dallas, and
- 3:57Speaker 2: we're not prepared for stuff like that. Down here, we
- 4:00Speaker 2: was after about one inch. So hey, it's a nice
- 4:04Speaker 2: little extended Christmas break. So I'm good with that, and hey,
- 4:08Speaker 2: but realistically why we were set up for some good
- 4:11Speaker 2: football too, Like with the football playoff, a couple issues,
- 4:14Speaker 2: but overall this this past week went pretty well. This
- 4:17Speaker 2: weekend should go pretty well again. I think there's a
- 4:20Speaker 2: couple of things I want to touch on it.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Like you said, for the.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Bull season itself, whether it's been the bowl games or
- 4:25Speaker 2: the playoff games, it's been, like you said, a fun
- 4:27Speaker 2: season to enjoy of college football, and one that the
- 4:30Speaker 2: rains have been good. People have been good. Like it's
- 4:33Speaker 2: just there's been talking points, like all of all, Chris,
- 4:35Speaker 2: it's been a collectively good idea. And again I'm happy
- 4:38Speaker 2: we did it this year because, as we said a
- 4:40Speaker 2: few weeks ago, if this year would have been a
- 4:43Speaker 2: regular year of like having the four teams in, it
- 4:46Speaker 2: would have been a debate like no other to decide
- 4:49Speaker 2: who goes forward have been overall, so they found the
- 4:51Speaker 2: right year to do it. I think the first year
- 4:53Speaker 2: has been pretty successful overall.
- 4:55Speaker 1: That's a great point because I mean there is a
- 4:58Speaker 1: lot of race hell and it had to do with
- 5:01Speaker 1: the SEC teams with Bama and South Carolina Old Miss
- 5:04Speaker 1: we get it. But yeah, man, I mean I would
- 5:09Speaker 1: have I have to admit I would have never guessed
- 5:12Speaker 1: extended un till twelve, even going into this season, that
- 5:15Speaker 1: there'd be that much debate over thirteen, fourteen and fifteen.
- 5:21Speaker 1: It is pretty crazy that we had that. But you
- 5:23Speaker 1: are correct. Man. If it would have been for shit,
- 5:26Speaker 1: at only eight, it would I mean it would have
- 5:28Speaker 1: been Oh but the four would have been roughed.
- 5:30Speaker 2: I mean, because we we talked about it is like
- 5:33Speaker 2: the top two Oregon, Oregon, Georgia cool after that, Man,
- 5:37Speaker 2: it would have been a tough to earth. Sorry not,
- 5:40Speaker 2: but it would have been a hard decision to make.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Definitely, most definitely and years ago, you know the whole
- 5:48Speaker 1: like when they decided to do this, we had a
- 5:52Speaker 1: power five, not a Power four, but a Power five.
- 5:55Speaker 1: That's the whole highest rate power five teams get in.
- 5:59Speaker 1: So people kind of wonder why that is that. That's why.
- 6:04Speaker 1: So yeah, they're gonna tweak some stuff. You know, I
- 6:07Speaker 1: think pretty much everyone agrees that, you know, if you're
- 6:12Speaker 1: a conference champ, you should just get into the playoffs
- 6:16Speaker 1: and that's it. It should, you know, it should just
- 6:19Speaker 1: go by ranking. After that, you're gonna have some drama
- 6:22Speaker 1: at the at the back end. The ten eleven twelve
- 6:26Speaker 1: is gonna be some drama, right because you have like
- 6:28Speaker 1: a Clemson or I mean, Boise State would have been good,
- 6:31Speaker 1: ASU would have jumped in. So you're gonna have some
- 6:34Speaker 1: of that, which I think is is good, good to
- 6:37Speaker 1: talk about it. But but you know, we'll get over it.
- 6:41Speaker 1: We'll get over it. And you know, I never would
- 6:44Speaker 1: have guessed though years ago, that we need twelve teams.
- 6:46Speaker 1: I gotta admit. We used to always say six is fine.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Six is like perfect that way, it takes care of
- 6:54Speaker 1: some of these Central Florida Cincinnati problems and all that.
- 6:58Speaker 1: But now that we're here and we've seen this thing
- 7:01Speaker 1: the last two years, especially TCU going undefeated, getting knocked
- 7:06Speaker 1: out by a ninety three team in their Big twelve
- 7:09Speaker 1: championship Kansas State, and then you know, knocking off I
- 7:14Speaker 1: mean they had to been at least but twenty points,
- 7:16Speaker 1: seventeen points, something like that. They're a big underdog against Michigan.
- 7:19Speaker 1: They get there a phenomenal one point game in the
- 7:23Speaker 1: other semifinal, Like when you just look at these odds
- 7:26Speaker 1: and even now the biggest spread is like five and
- 7:28Speaker 1: a half six, So you're starting to see that in
- 7:32Speaker 1: the quality thing. That the best thing about it, once
- 7:35Speaker 1: we get this stuff tweaked in the transport of stuff
- 7:40Speaker 1: and all that stuff, a lot of this stuff can
- 7:42Speaker 1: be tweaked. We've always said it instead of blaming you know,
- 7:46Speaker 1: the players. Only it's stupid really because the NCLA could
- 7:51Speaker 1: have looked like the Saviors if they did this a
- 7:54Speaker 1: decade ago, you know, and there wouldn't be people challenging
- 7:57Speaker 1: anything in court. They'd have just been happy they could transfer.
- 8:00Speaker 1: In fact, we saw that in college basketball, remember Marsha.
- 8:04Speaker 1: We saw more kids being able to transfer and play
- 8:07Speaker 1: the next year if a coach leaves or gets fired. Now,
- 8:11Speaker 1: it didn't always happen. There was still some ensub play
- 8:15Speaker 1: stuff where you're like, why is that guy okay? With
- 8:17Speaker 1: that guy's not can't play? So you had that, but
- 8:20Speaker 1: sure you were you were already going that route, you know,
- 8:23Speaker 1: And had they just you know, listen to the Olbanion
- 8:27Speaker 1: brothers back in the day, they wouldn't none of this
- 8:30Speaker 1: shit would be an issue. We'd have a.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Lot more rules and really lost.
- 8:36Speaker 1: They're gonna be lost soon because you're gonna be talking
- 8:38Speaker 1: about employees. But all in all, man, we didn't ruin
- 8:42Speaker 1: the college football regular season, and in fact, you could
- 8:47Speaker 1: make an argument with the portal and with the money
- 8:51Speaker 1: that it kind of there was some games where you're like, dude,
- 8:54Speaker 1: you can't go nine and three. You're gonna lose. Like
- 8:57Speaker 1: we never would have even worried about those games before,
- 9:00Speaker 1: unless it's just a rivalry game or whatever. So for
- 9:03Speaker 1: all the complaints, let's not forget what a fucking crazy
- 9:08Speaker 1: college football season that we're off of the regular season
- 9:12Speaker 1: and we've gotten some good games now finally, you know,
- 9:14Speaker 1: no doubt about it. But yeah, when you look, even
- 9:17Speaker 1: the day after Christmas, Pittsburgh Toledo sixth overtime, I remember
- 9:22Speaker 1: watching that in a hotel room, like, oh shit, Rutgers
- 9:27Speaker 1: was way up on Kansas State. They came back one
- 9:30Speaker 1: to twenty one. That same night, Arkansas State Bowling Green
- 9:34Speaker 1: was a tight game. Navy beat Oklahoma. For Christ's sakes,
- 9:40Speaker 1: usc your squad had a nice little little win there
- 9:44Speaker 1: at A and m my squad got beat. Where have
- 9:48Speaker 1: you heard this before? They had the leading, got beat
- 9:50Speaker 1: forty two to forty one. BYU said, hey, remember that
- 9:54Speaker 1: team from about two months ago. We're gonna put it
- 9:57Speaker 1: on Colorado. I mean there, that.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Game was ever really close, which surprised me a little bit.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Yeah, it was surprised everyone. Missouri beat Iowa in a
- 10:09Speaker 1: really you know, low scoring game. My Gophers just one
- 10:13Speaker 1: not long ago. Ole miss made sure to put up
- 10:16Speaker 1: fifty two points so they feel better about themselves. That
- 10:22Speaker 1: Louisville Washington thirty five thirty four. Dude, Illinois and South
- 10:27Speaker 1: Carolina that game meant something. Dude, there was starters in
- 10:30Speaker 1: that game before you know. And then Michigan beats FAMA.
- 10:35Speaker 1: I mean, talk about these cry Davis from the SEC.
- 10:38Speaker 1: It's like, dude, come back to earth, Dude, come back
- 10:42Speaker 1: to Earth. Now, do I still believe if you go
- 10:45Speaker 1: six or eight deep or were they the best conference
- 10:48Speaker 1: six or eight deep? Yes? They were, But are they
- 10:52Speaker 1: producing the top elite team this year? That's the big thing.
- 10:57Speaker 1: In fact, I mentioned college basketball a little bit ago.
- 11:02Speaker 1: They kind of remind me, Marshall of multiple years, probably
- 11:08Speaker 1: like five or six years since in the last twenty
- 11:11Speaker 1: something years of the Big Ten basketball, where it'll be deep,
- 11:16Speaker 1: it'll be nasty, but they don't get a champion, you know.
- 11:20Speaker 1: And I'm not saying that's how it's gonna be. But
- 11:22Speaker 1: I still think pound for pound, top six, top eight teams,
- 11:26Speaker 1: I still I still hold my ground, and I believe
- 11:29Speaker 1: you would too. Maybe not, but we did say they
- 11:32Speaker 1: are the deepest conference this year, and they were. I
- 11:34Speaker 1: think they have. If you look at how many teams
- 11:36Speaker 1: they had all the way to that string of ninety
- 11:38Speaker 1: three and all that, I think, I think that was big.
- 11:41Speaker 1: But to turn around and lose the Michigan and I
- 11:45Speaker 1: know your teams aren't the same, but that goes both ways.
- 11:49Speaker 1: And even when we're talking all blue bloods, SEC is
- 11:52Speaker 1: not the only conference that has blue bloods, you know.
- 11:55Speaker 1: I mean, we took multiple guys from Clemson, Notre Dame, Michigan.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Like we just beat somebody, Alabama, Oklahoma, a couple other
- 12:07Speaker 1: teams out for a tackle that has three years eligibility.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Like it's not only happening in the SEC, you know,
- 12:17Speaker 1: not having deep rosters anymore. But when you have your
- 12:20Speaker 1: starting quarterback, which in Alabama did and you have your
- 12:24Speaker 1: starting wide receiver, they don't really use the running backs
- 12:26Speaker 1: much anyway, you needed to win that game, if you're complaining.
- 12:30Speaker 1: And they got beat in a Michigan type game in Michigan,
- 12:34Speaker 1: although they they they were, they didn't have when they
- 12:37Speaker 1: beat when they beat Ohio State, they didn't have Will Johnson.
- 12:40Speaker 1: They didn't have that outside Russia. They in this game.
- 12:43Speaker 1: They didn't have their two nasties in the middle either. Like,
- 12:47Speaker 1: this shit is wild, dude, And Michigan beat Bama twice
- 12:51Speaker 1: in twenty twenty four. I just thought about that too.
- 12:54Speaker 1: After the game. I was like, oh shit, that's right,
- 12:56Speaker 1: because they beat them in the playoffs. Now, this doesn't
- 13:00Speaker 1: This is just ironic that this shit happened. That's all
- 13:03Speaker 1: it is. We're not trying I mean, South Carolina had
- 13:06Speaker 1: their stut quarterback. Like we're not trying to say, oh,
- 13:10Speaker 1: the SEC is dead or nothing like that. But it's
- 13:15Speaker 1: just more of an open ballgame now and it's proving
- 13:18Speaker 1: and no, when you're nine and three in the other
- 13:20Speaker 1: when you're nine and three in the regular season, and
- 13:23Speaker 1: even a team like SMU in the regular season they
- 13:26Speaker 1: were eleven and one. You can't make that to win
- 13:31Speaker 1: or to lost jump like that. And then you know
- 13:35Speaker 1: for them to be like, well they should have been
- 13:36Speaker 1: out when they lost that conference final, Well, wasn't that
- 13:39Speaker 1: the big debate that you guys had like half the
- 13:41Speaker 1: year that you know coaches aren't gonna want to go
- 13:45Speaker 1: to the conference finals they get knocked out, I'd rather
- 13:47Speaker 1: not go and all that. Well, then they went and
- 13:50Speaker 1: then they didn't get knocked out, and you're mad. So
- 13:52Speaker 1: it's just kind of funny how this turned out. But
- 13:55Speaker 1: I am in no way former fashion Marshall, and I'm
- 13:58Speaker 1: a little long winded here. Go figure that. I still
- 14:03Speaker 1: think the SEC top to bottom was the best conference.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Hands down, it is, but I think that I forgot
- 14:13Speaker 2: what podcast I was listening to. But I've heard this
- 14:15Speaker 2: from a couple of different people over the last few
- 14:17Speaker 2: months of sports their opinion I respect. And it is
- 14:21Speaker 2: the fact that now these schools can legally pay players,
- 14:25Speaker 2: and it really does kind of balance out the field
- 14:28Speaker 2: in a way. And obviously there was payments being made before,
- 14:33Speaker 2: but now you do kind of lose that edge if
- 14:36Speaker 2: you're the the Bamas or the Georgias of football, who
- 14:40Speaker 2: were like the King and the Mecca schools that would
- 14:43Speaker 2: pay players a lot of money. Now other schools across
- 14:47Speaker 2: the country and pay players evenly. That kind of spreads
- 14:50Speaker 2: the talent out like it used to always be, Well
- 14:53Speaker 2: you got Bama, got Georgia, you know, you got Ohio State,
- 14:56Speaker 2: like all these schools who kind of had their like
- 14:59Speaker 2: USC back in the day, Like these kind of like
- 15:02Speaker 2: top tier programs that kind of get away with a
- 15:03Speaker 2: little more stuff. Now like everyone can legally pay the players,
- 15:07Speaker 2: and you've kind of lost a little bit of that
- 15:11Speaker 2: royalty that these teams have, and now you do have
- 15:14Speaker 2: more of an even balanced out sport, which I think
- 15:16Speaker 2: you saw in the regular season. And to some people,
- 15:19Speaker 2: that's why some people think that's why Staved retired. And
- 15:22Speaker 2: it's like he kind of knew, like and obviously the
- 15:24Speaker 2: dude did an incredible job, but he probably saw it
- 15:27Speaker 2: right down the wall, like, dude, this this nil money
- 15:29Speaker 2: and all these things coming out are gonna make it
- 15:32Speaker 2: tougher for me to have the the true insane amount
- 15:36Speaker 2: of tellity ad And it's proven proven to be true. Again,
- 15:39Speaker 2: I still graciously agree with you that SEC is the
- 15:43Speaker 2: best conference in the country, but you have had a
- 15:47Speaker 2: balancing out of skills and talent due to the sport.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Be more fair, and that's better for everyone involved. Like, yeah,
- 15:55Speaker 2: obviously if you're a Bama George Fanscher, maybe not. But
- 15:58Speaker 2: for the big picture of college football, you have more
- 16:01Speaker 2: teams now that on a given year. I would say this, Chris,
- 16:07Speaker 2: I'm just for this learders giving me now, but I
- 16:10Speaker 2: would say there's probably a fifty chance the next year's
- 16:13Speaker 2: College Ball Playoff could have half the teams could be
- 16:16Speaker 2: brand new. And for the years we had our College
- 16:19Speaker 2: Ball Playoff, even though the four we almost literally had,
- 16:21Speaker 2: you could almost bet story of the year, there's gonna
- 16:23Speaker 2: be two to three repeats every year. I think with
- 16:27Speaker 2: how this has been now this year, I think there's
- 16:29Speaker 2: a great chance that six of the twelve teams next
- 16:32Speaker 2: year who are gonna be in the College Ball Playoff
- 16:34Speaker 2: won't be there this year. And I think that's a
- 16:36Speaker 2: beautiful thing for college football.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Yeah, And and remember people said, well that's not fair. Now,
- 16:43Speaker 1: Well it wasn't fair then, you know, it just wasn't
- 16:47Speaker 1: so and as a whole and I'm glad you mentioned
- 16:51Speaker 1: that word, Marshall, big Pitcher, you gotta look at it
- 16:54Speaker 1: as a sport. And even if the dude, the SEC
- 16:58Speaker 1: got a ABC a ton this year, you know, they
- 17:01Speaker 1: still were killing in the ratings. Dude, they didn't go anywhere,
- 17:04Speaker 1: you know, like they but they now have more opportunity
- 17:09Speaker 1: to be seen at a higher level, even more than
- 17:11Speaker 1: they had prior. And and I never you know, I've
- 17:15Speaker 1: been a college football fan for a long time and
- 17:18Speaker 1: my number one team is University of Minnesota. My second
- 17:23Speaker 1: team is Miami. And the reason why I need a
- 17:24Speaker 1: second team is because my fucking Gophers sucked most of
- 17:27Speaker 1: the time. When I was a kid. They made two
- 17:30Speaker 1: bowl games back to back with Ricky Foggy is the quarterback.
- 17:33Speaker 1: I want to say it was like eighty six, eighty seven,
- 17:35Speaker 1: something like that, maybe eighty seven eighty eight. We were
- 17:38Speaker 1: in the Independence Bowl back when there's like fifteen balls
- 17:41Speaker 1: and it meant something. And big Pitcher, dude, like, just
- 17:47Speaker 1: look at it as a whole, like I knew, I
- 17:50Speaker 1: even know my Gophers has six championships. We get it.
- 17:54Speaker 1: It was you know, it hasn't happened since the sixties, right,
- 17:58Speaker 1: And I'll still talk about Georgia not getting the three
- 18:02Speaker 1: in a row because the Gophers thirty four to thirty five,
- 18:04Speaker 1: thirty six. They did it back then, But that's it
- 18:06Speaker 1: don't really matter now obviously. So my point is I
- 18:09Speaker 1: knew my squad didn't have a chance ever to win
- 18:12Speaker 1: a championship ever ever, And most people are in that
- 18:16Speaker 1: same boat. The majority are in that same boat. So
- 18:21Speaker 1: as a whole, I can't remember a year where you
- 18:25Speaker 1: were down to eight teams and I thought six out
- 18:28Speaker 1: of the eight you could make an argument they could
- 18:30Speaker 1: win the championship and you could say, O, Penn State
- 18:34Speaker 1: or okay, but look who's in the fucking semis Penn
- 18:37Speaker 1: State and Notre Dame now six weeks ago. Do we
- 18:40Speaker 1: think they'd know? But they're here, aren't they? And they
- 18:43Speaker 1: beat Georgia. And some people argued that that backup quarterback
- 18:47Speaker 1: because they could run pass and you know, they had
- 18:50Speaker 1: time to get him ready, and they did win the
- 18:52Speaker 1: Big Ten or the SEC Championship with him. Some thought, oh,
- 18:55Speaker 1: you know what, it's a different spark that they didn't have,
- 18:58Speaker 1: and all that stuff. My point is, I'd never remember
- 19:02Speaker 1: a year where I thought late November man there's six
- 19:05Speaker 1: teams that can win the championship never ever ever you
- 19:10Speaker 1: know why, I guess it didn't happen, dude, And so
- 19:13Speaker 1: that really helps. And then you know, my team is
- 19:16Speaker 1: pretty close to having a ten and two year this year.
- 19:19Speaker 1: If they would have knocked off Penn State, then now
- 19:23Speaker 1: there's a lot I could have would have shut it.
- 19:24Speaker 1: But I'm just I'm trying to say, back in twenty
- 19:28Speaker 1: nineteen they were ten and two and eleven and two
- 19:30Speaker 1: in the end, they would have made the playoffs that year.
- 19:32Speaker 1: So now my my opportunity for my team, who's for
- 19:38Speaker 1: the most part not being great for my life, they
- 19:43Speaker 1: now have some you know, shadow of hope, but the
- 19:48Speaker 1: overall landscape and like you said, the big pitcher, that's
- 19:52Speaker 1: where it's at, dude. These games are on free TV,
- 19:56Speaker 1: way more big matchups because of the deals, and they're
- 20:01Speaker 1: gonna get this shit figured out, dude. They're gonna get
- 20:04Speaker 1: the seating figured out. The players aren't going to become
- 20:08Speaker 1: a union. You will notice how you saw more teams
- 20:12Speaker 1: this year play with their starters that are going pro.
- 20:17Speaker 1: I don't know if you notice that. And it's funny
- 20:20Speaker 1: because the people either love or hate Dan. I get it,
- 20:23Speaker 1: but he openly said, no, we don't. We fucking play dude.
- 20:26Speaker 1: That's what we do here. We play our games. So
- 20:29Speaker 1: the people that have to people hate, or the person
- 20:32Speaker 1: that have to people hate, you know, hate on Hunter
- 20:34Speaker 1: for it. He had those dudes playing in the ball game, dude,
- 20:38Speaker 1: and not in the playoff bowl game. So and there
- 20:41Speaker 1: was a lot more than that. Dude. Look at Bama
- 20:43Speaker 1: their quarterback, he was playing like. I'm not saying nobody
- 20:47Speaker 1: sat out because even the Gophers had. Dude, has set up.
- 20:50Speaker 1: I get it, and I'm not hurt by that, but
- 20:52Speaker 1: I do have a rant on that real quick too. Marshall,
- 20:55Speaker 1: the whole the ball season doesn't mean as much because
- 20:58Speaker 1: the playoffs ruined it, not just playoffs, but they were
- 21:01Speaker 1: saying that about the semis. Let's back up first and
- 21:05Speaker 1: stop romantic romanticizing the past. I say this all the time.
- 21:10Speaker 1: The what ruined the bull game season or the you know,
- 21:13Speaker 1: the bowl games in general, is because there's too many
- 21:17Speaker 1: of them. Way, you shouldn't be six and six getting
- 21:22Speaker 1: into a bowl game. You know, where do you cut
- 21:24Speaker 1: it off? Do you go eight and four and then
- 21:26Speaker 1: the seven and five team gets in off of academics,
- 21:29Speaker 1: like a five and seven team gets in sure, whatever,
- 21:32Speaker 1: But my point is is like that's what ruined it first.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Then I can see the argument, Okay, I can see
- 21:40Speaker 1: the argument of you know, we told the the players
- 21:44Speaker 1: that these games mean even more, so therefore the new
- 21:48Speaker 1: year six is sometimes you get great matchups that the
- 21:51Speaker 1: players are playing a lot of times that was based
- 21:55Speaker 1: off that team is going to return a lot of
- 21:57Speaker 1: starters next year, so they're not going pro with their
- 21:59Speaker 1: top guy, or they're they're returning anyway, kind of building
- 22:03Speaker 1: up like that for the next year. And sometimes it
- 22:06Speaker 1: would be like Florida State last year where they a
- 22:08Speaker 1: bunch of people set out. So but we know what
- 22:12Speaker 1: came first, the chicken or the egg. We know what
- 22:14Speaker 1: came first. So let's not blame once again the players
- 22:18Speaker 1: only with this shit, because that's what it is. They're
- 22:21Speaker 1: sitting out and most of us, the vast majority of
- 22:24Speaker 1: us ninety nine point nine percent, would do the same thing.
- 22:28Speaker 1: And even players that played and played the ballgame, they
- 22:31Speaker 1: could talk. I give them respect because they did it,
- 22:34Speaker 1: but they don't they never were put in that situation
- 22:37Speaker 1: so that they don't even know what they would have done. Now,
- 22:39Speaker 1: maybe a certain coach would have been like, no, this
- 22:41Speaker 1: is what we're doing. But I think you'll see I
- 22:44Speaker 1: don't think you'll see that many starters sit out of
- 22:47Speaker 1: the playoffs. Dude, if you look at the next ten years,
- 22:50Speaker 1: I don't see many. I'm not saying that it won't happen.
- 22:54Speaker 1: I think it at some point it probably will. But
- 22:58Speaker 1: it's just better than it was, dude. It's better than
- 23:01Speaker 1: it was. And stop romanticizing in the past like it
- 23:04Speaker 1: was just this fair thing. I mean a lot of
- 23:07Speaker 1: times one and two never even played, you know, so
- 23:10Speaker 1: our regular season still is awesome. But let's just not
- 23:13Speaker 1: lose sight of that. That's the only Okay, I'm done
- 23:16Speaker 1: with my rants. It's two of them. I'm done, Okay, all.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Right, I got Yeah. I'm normally the one that starts
- 23:21Speaker 2: to throw up with the rants. So it's already to
- 23:24Speaker 2: flip the script everyone.
- 23:26Speaker 1: It was a week that's got you know what I mean,
- 23:28Speaker 1: that extra week that we had off, Yeah, built up.
- 23:31Speaker 1: He was building up, and I had to get it
- 23:32Speaker 1: out of my chest speaking and get out of the chess.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Let's start with the quarterfinal. The first game that was
- 23:39Speaker 1: Penn State Boise oh man, I'm not gonna rant. I'm
- 23:44Speaker 1: not gonna rant, but I didn't like what I heard
- 23:48Speaker 1: out of Oh Gendy, you know, brought back to earth
- 23:52Speaker 1: when there was nowhere to run. But that game could
- 23:59Speaker 1: have been closer than it was, whether it's a missfield goal,
- 24:04Speaker 1: a fumble here, not closing off a drive. It was
- 24:08Speaker 1: seventeen to seven, so well within range at half, and
- 24:12Speaker 1: then you know they got all the way to seventeen fourteen.
- 24:15Speaker 1: It was like, here we go boys. He came to play.
- 24:18Speaker 1: And then you know, I did like that eleven play
- 24:23Speaker 1: drive response to get back up by ten. They clearly
- 24:28Speaker 1: were saying throw the ball, go ahead, please, we're gonna
- 24:33Speaker 1: stop Jent to win this game.
- 24:37Speaker 2: I this is and I get. I know I'm not
- 24:40Speaker 2: a James Franklin supporter. And they have one again. But
- 24:46Speaker 2: again they didn't play that good like I was ripping.
- 24:50Speaker 2: SMUs quarterback played like trash. I thought last week, keep
- 24:52Speaker 2: Penn State live boys. He had more first downs and
- 24:56Speaker 2: more yards of Penn State like, and they had some
- 25:00Speaker 2: genty fumbled the ball more than he's almost film with
- 25:01Speaker 2: his whole career. So yes, you got to give Penn
- 25:04Speaker 2: State credit because they won the game. At the end
- 25:06Speaker 2: of the day, it's all the matters. But if you
- 25:09Speaker 2: look like Penn State, like you're I still I'm still
- 25:13Speaker 2: just shaking my head a little bit because how good
- 25:15Speaker 2: are you? I know you're down to the final four,
- 25:17Speaker 2: but I thought you had a just a really round
- 25:21Speaker 2: one opponent that was quarterback was color blind, and in
- 25:25Speaker 2: this game Boise was right there with you. But the
- 25:27Speaker 2: end of the day, they won, So I'll tip the
- 25:30Speaker 2: cap uh I Again, I think the score was misleading.
- 25:36Speaker 2: Now we've said that in other Cure iggorations, Chris, where
- 25:39Speaker 2: it's been the opposite, like for Indiana, you could say
- 25:42Speaker 2: the Indiana score was misleading when they played against Ohio
- 25:46Speaker 2: State Notre Dame because they kind of scored late. I
- 25:49Speaker 2: think this score if you just showed someone, hey, the
- 25:51Speaker 2: box score of India of Penn State, Boise, well, boys
- 25:55Speaker 2: didn't do that well, you know, but if you look
- 25:56Speaker 2: at the numbers and stuff like, it actually was a
- 25:58Speaker 2: pretty good game. So I give Boise credit. As we
- 26:01Speaker 2: were talking about before the show last week, Hey, this
- 26:04Speaker 2: is their first ever like big moment to be on
- 26:06Speaker 2: the stage, and they had a couple of hiccups, but Overall,
- 26:10Speaker 2: they played not too bad again stat wise, our yards
- 26:13Speaker 2: wise did fight. I'm with you the gente part, dude,
- 26:17Speaker 2: Penn State, aside from my team taking shots with them,
- 26:21Speaker 2: they have a very good defense with guys who probably
- 26:23Speaker 2: are gonna go pro I'm not Tod mcshae, but they said, hey,
- 26:27Speaker 2: let's stack probably I mean, I well, you know, I'm
- 26:32Speaker 2: not gonna say like George as like six guys go probe.
- 26:34Speaker 2: I'm sure Penn State's probably got some dudes they are
- 26:36Speaker 2: gonna go in the NFL. Okay, they said, hey, let's
- 26:40Speaker 2: stack the box, you know, uh and make gente beat us.
- 26:43Speaker 2: And that's what they did. So did he have a
- 26:45Speaker 2: great game. No, he averaged like three points something yards
- 26:48Speaker 2: to carry. Again, they had like thirty carries for Buco
- 26:50Speaker 2: four that's not obviously, but hey he's still a one
- 26:53Speaker 2: hundred yards and again literally they they were they were
- 26:58Speaker 2: loaded up the box. So statistically, is that the type
- 27:02Speaker 2: of game that Genty had the whole season? No, but
- 27:05Speaker 2: you gotta look at again, he was facing the schools
- 27:08Speaker 2: like Wyoming in Colorado State. Now you're playing a school
- 27:12Speaker 2: like Penn State who has the best defense you've seen,
- 27:15Speaker 2: and unfortunately for Boise, they did not have a quarterback
- 27:18Speaker 2: that you really had to truly respect, so halfhuff Penn
- 27:22Speaker 2: State and.
- 27:22Speaker 1: If they did probably would have left a while ago.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Yeah yeah yeah, so uh so, Hey again it wasn't pretty,
- 27:30Speaker 2: but the end of the day, who gives a ship.
- 27:32Speaker 2: You don't need that pretty wins. Yeah no, Ohio State's
- 27:34Speaker 2: been a different path, but that's we'll get there later.
- 27:37Speaker 2: But hey, you won the game. You're down to the
- 27:38Speaker 2: final four. Uh. The Franklin bashers on on whinning winning
- 27:42Speaker 2: big games. Hey, he's been proving people on you know
- 27:45Speaker 2: he uh he, they find ways to win. But I
- 27:49Speaker 2: do think Chris, I'll say this, I think they still.
- 27:51Speaker 2: I don't think they've played their best game yet. Uh, which,
- 27:55Speaker 2: I think you're gonna need to show a cup coming up.
- 27:57Speaker 2: But yeah, that's I'm not gonna keep a fee myself
- 28:00Speaker 2: on Franklin.
- 28:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I hate he.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Won the game, and uh gent if he doesn't fumble
- 28:04Speaker 2: the ball, who knows, Like I did find it crazy
- 28:07Speaker 2: to believe that literally he literally almost thought fumbled the
- 28:10Speaker 2: Ball's whole career had a couple of that game.
- 28:12Speaker 1: That is amazing that well, yeah, but he only lost
- 28:15Speaker 1: one though.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm just just like this quarterback threw three picks,
- 28:20Speaker 2: which hurts. Yeah, but just even the fact that they're like, oh,
- 28:23Speaker 2: prayer to this game. He only had two fumbles in
- 28:25Speaker 2: his career, like seriously, like dude, that yeah, but that's
- 28:29Speaker 2: crazy to itself.
- 28:30Speaker 1: That is true, but and one of them was like
- 28:33Speaker 1: by the sideline, and both of them he wasn't protecting
- 28:37Speaker 1: the ball properly. But the first fumble, they fumbled it
- 28:43Speaker 1: right back, so ultimately it didn't mean shit. Yeah, so
- 28:48Speaker 1: it was first of all, Penn State came out strong
- 28:50Speaker 1: fourteen to zip right then it wasn't grind and like
- 28:56Speaker 1: I said, they battled back out to seventeen to fourteen.
- 29:00Speaker 1: They missed a field goal down the stretch that would
- 29:02Speaker 1: have helped them in Michigan State. I'm sorry Penn State
- 29:06Speaker 1: put him way. But my thing is they ran the
- 29:10Speaker 1: ball for two hundred and sixteen yards on forty one carries.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Forty one carries a fair amount, that's for sure, Yeah,
- 29:17Speaker 1: but five point three eclipse is still good for forty
- 29:20Speaker 1: one carriers. It should have been fifty one carres. You know,
- 29:24Speaker 1: there was no point in doing the gimmicky shit, in
- 29:27Speaker 1: my opinion, now early in the game you could see
- 29:31Speaker 1: and this is here's a funky thing. Right, So last
- 29:35Speaker 1: year we didn't think they gave Drew Allard like enough
- 29:40Speaker 1: attempts during the year, so then when that big game came,
- 29:44Speaker 1: he would at least have, you know, some experience with
- 29:47Speaker 1: throwing the ball a lot. This game, I liked how
- 29:51Speaker 1: they started with going deep and all that, because they
- 29:54Speaker 1: were attacking, and he threw some really nice balls. But
- 29:57Speaker 1: I thought that once okay, he got that established, now
- 30:00Speaker 1: you can just run, dude, and they're doing this gimmicky
- 30:02Speaker 1: shit where it's like, dude, what are you doing gimmicks for?
- 30:05Speaker 1: Just run the fucking ball. And so I thought that
- 30:08Speaker 1: was a little bit of the offensive coordinator saying, hey,
- 30:10Speaker 1: watch this, why don't you like the gimmicks should be
- 30:16Speaker 1: when you need a spark or maybe against a nasty
- 30:19Speaker 1: defense like Notre Dame. You know. So on one hand,
- 30:25Speaker 1: it is contradicting to say, hey, they needed to give
- 30:28Speaker 1: him more pass attempts like we were saying last year.
- 30:31Speaker 1: But I mean, they ran a lot last year, whereas
- 30:34Speaker 1: this year, even that West Virginia games start out, you know,
- 30:36Speaker 1: early in the season, they were throwing it like they've
- 30:39Speaker 1: thrown it enough now though in my opinion, to where
- 30:41Speaker 1: they didn't need to keep throwing it in this game.
- 30:44Speaker 1: To me, that was the biggest thing. It could have
- 30:46Speaker 1: been a wider margin and not as close if they
- 30:50Speaker 1: just ran the ball. They had no answer. There was
- 30:53Speaker 1: no answer. And so that's that's the biggest thing that
- 30:56Speaker 1: I came away with, that is put away the tricks,
- 31:00Speaker 1: save the tricks, just run the damn ball. And so
- 31:03Speaker 1: that that's the one that I would say, Eh, you
- 31:06Speaker 1: know that that was probably the misnomer there, but at least,
- 31:11Speaker 1: you know, I mean, especially early that game, they really
- 31:14Speaker 1: were chucking it down the field and they scored a
- 31:16Speaker 1: touchdown off it. And they do need a spark out
- 31:18Speaker 1: of the one wide receiver at least, so that that's
- 31:21Speaker 1: part of it. Any other items before we get to
- 31:25Speaker 1: the other games?
- 31:27Speaker 2: Uh no?
- 31:29Speaker 1: All right, um, so let's go to the most exciting game,
- 31:37Speaker 1: Texas Arizona State. Now, you know, there was a lot
- 31:41Speaker 1: of complaints about them in BOISEBN three and four, and
- 31:45Speaker 1: it's great. It's not even complaining, it's not being critical.
- 31:48Speaker 1: Actually it makes a lot of sense, right, But I
- 31:54Speaker 1: guess you could say right away they didn't come to
- 31:56Speaker 1: play because they did get down seventeen to three. But
- 32:00Speaker 1: man almighty, did they come storming back. They had a
- 32:04Speaker 1: good drive to start it out, got a field goal
- 32:07Speaker 1: out of it. You know, they came right back quick
- 32:11Speaker 1: strike Texas to play seventy seventy yards less than a
- 32:14Speaker 1: minute and then a punk return, like to have that happen.
- 32:17Speaker 1: That is rough. And then they also had back to
- 32:20Speaker 1: back they had a turnover on downs at eleven play drive,
- 32:24Speaker 1: turnover on downs on a nine play drive, and then
- 32:26Speaker 1: a twelve play drive that lasted, you know, a little
- 32:30Speaker 1: over three minutes, missfield goals, So I mean that shit hurts.
- 32:33Speaker 1: And then your first possession, Marshall, is it guy, is
- 32:37Speaker 1: another turnover on downs. So that was a rough way
- 32:41Speaker 1: to start. Once they got that safety though, things started turning.
- 32:47Speaker 1: And I gotta admit, when it got to seventeen to eight, Marshall,
- 32:50Speaker 1: I was like, Okay, here we go. And then when
- 32:52Speaker 1: they laid that thirteen play seventy six yard drive over
- 32:56Speaker 1: five minutes, it's twenty four to eight. I thought, ah,
- 32:59Speaker 1: that was a good run, but it's probably over now.
- 33:02Speaker 1: And it's sure as hell wasn't over just yet.
- 33:06Speaker 2: Hey, I'll give I'll give Scataboo credit. Now, you could
- 33:10Speaker 2: argue that gent was better statistically, but that dude said,
- 33:13Speaker 2: I'm the best running back in the country, and he
- 33:15Speaker 2: bawled his ass on. I guess he was drinking too
- 33:17Speaker 2: much water which made him throw up. But a tip
- 33:20Speaker 2: of the cap, because if you're gonna talk to your ship,
- 33:23Speaker 2: whether you're playing pro football, college football, high school football,
- 33:25Speaker 2: you got to back it up. And he did. Now.
- 33:27Speaker 2: I know they lost, but he he talked his he
- 33:30Speaker 2: ran his mouth, and he played a good game of football.
- 33:32Speaker 2: And to the media, scredit think called him player of
- 33:35Speaker 2: the Game, which is something almost ever seen nowadays in
- 33:37Speaker 2: sports where you lose the game and you still win
- 33:40Speaker 2: play the game. So hats off to Scataboy because A
- 33:43Speaker 2: it's cool to say his last name, and B he
- 33:46Speaker 2: he was repping. I mean.
- 33:50Speaker 1: In almost one hundred yards receiving as well.
- 33:54Speaker 2: And through and through a touchdown and pass and that's
- 33:56Speaker 2: forty yard Well is a bit short.
- 33:58Speaker 1: I don't know if I call him knight get And
- 34:01Speaker 1: that show was getting too It was like, oh my god,
- 34:06Speaker 1: this shouldn't happen. I really started believing they were gonna
- 34:08Speaker 1: win this game.
- 34:10Speaker 2: Uh So to get to kind of do a season
- 34:13Speaker 2: review of Texas to get more details of the game
- 34:15Speaker 2: and discuss targeting. I'm not okay, so I've been I've
- 34:21Speaker 2: been ripping Penn State for how I think they've been
- 34:23Speaker 2: a little sluggish in their games. Now for Texas, I
- 34:25Speaker 2: don't think this ripping. I think this is true. How
- 34:29Speaker 2: many times has this team this year in Texas played
- 34:33Speaker 2: a full game, like literally, besides maybe a couple of
- 34:38Speaker 2: like the really kind of bum like awful teams they
- 34:40Speaker 2: played this year, they really haven't played a full sixty minutes.
- 34:44Speaker 2: Are they a top five team in the country, probably,
- 34:47Speaker 2: but they've literally kept almost all their games have been
- 34:51Speaker 2: They've kind of been like the Kansasate Chiefs this year.
- 34:54Speaker 1: And they got a light too. They did get a
- 34:57Speaker 1: light schedule considering they played the SEC.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Yeah. Like, And the one that really said to me
- 35:01Speaker 2: was when Texas played Arkansas they won twenty to ten,
- 35:04Speaker 2: Like I was like, huh, And you know when they
- 35:07Speaker 2: played the Aggies they got up, but they had a
- 35:09Speaker 2: couple of picks, Like it's it's just like not in
- 35:13Speaker 2: their DNA, Like they've won a lot of games here. Again,
- 35:15Speaker 2: they are an elite team, but they they've never played
- 35:18Speaker 2: sixty and it almost caught him and bit them in
- 35:22Speaker 2: the ass. Like I've live bet that game, and my
- 35:25Speaker 2: live bet was Texas score over twenty a half points
- 35:28Speaker 2: in the first half. Why did I do that live bet? Well,
- 35:31Speaker 2: Texas's first drive two plays it was a fifty yard
- 35:34Speaker 2: past thirty yard past touchdown boom. Third play of offense
- 35:37Speaker 2: part turn touchdown boom. I'm like, dude, you just score
- 35:40Speaker 2: two touchdowns and three plays. I think you can score
- 35:43Speaker 2: one more. But with like seven minutes left in the
- 35:46Speaker 2: first quarter until like the third like their offense just disappeared,
- 35:52Speaker 2: Like this team has the pieces, and I don't know
- 35:56Speaker 2: if you just can't keep your foot on the throat
- 35:59Speaker 2: there if they're o it's lack of days ago. But
- 36:01Speaker 2: it's weird, Chris. It's really weird to have such a good,
- 36:05Speaker 2: well rounded team like never really put their foot down.
- 36:10Speaker 2: And it's not quite like they're that Florida State team
- 36:12Speaker 2: from hand handful of years ago. They'd always like make
- 36:15Speaker 2: games close, like, but it is super strange for a
- 36:19Speaker 2: team to be very very good yet never really win impressively.
- 36:24Speaker 2: Like that's hard to do. It's sports normally, if you're
- 36:26Speaker 2: a badass team, you have those fair share of games
- 36:29Speaker 2: where you're like, dude, we whooped them, Like Texas they're good,
- 36:33Speaker 2: but man, they're just not that good on the score.
- 36:37Speaker 2: But I don't know, it's strange. So did you kind
- 36:39Speaker 2: of get it, Like it's almost like you they take
- 36:43Speaker 2: a quarter off and it's hard to do that for
- 36:45Speaker 2: teams and to still be the cause. But now you're
- 36:47Speaker 2: in the final four, two quarters off. Sometimes Yeah, I
- 36:55Speaker 2: just I don't know, Okay. So anyway, so the game itself,
- 36:57Speaker 2: they literally did that and with I believe it was
- 37:00Speaker 2: nine minutes left, Arizona State was down sixteen. Uh ship
- 37:04Speaker 2: the game win in overtime. So you did have the
- 37:07Speaker 2: miraculous Skattaboo hell Mary pass which was caught, which was short,
- 37:11Speaker 2: but that went for a touchdown. And and in fairness,
- 37:14Speaker 2: Chris dude, that Texas defense was tired. Arizona State ran
- 37:19Speaker 2: nine is eighty seven or ninety seven offensive plays. That
- 37:24Speaker 2: is an absurd amount of plays for a college football game.
- 37:26Speaker 2: So that Texas defense had beyond their last gas. Skataboo
- 37:30Speaker 2: got going.
- 37:31Speaker 1: On about fourteen rushing yards.
- 37:34Speaker 2: Texas's third down conversion rate was I believe it was
- 37:39Speaker 2: like three or three for twelve five. Okay, yeah, might
- 37:43Speaker 2: I'm a little dislike with my number side, but hey,
- 37:46Speaker 2: just again they found away to win. But so at
- 37:49Speaker 2: fifty rushing too, and Arizona State wasn't only to have
- 37:54Speaker 2: like a stud defensive line that I was aware of,
- 37:57Speaker 2: you know. So hey, uh so what happens? They're down sixteen,
- 38:01Speaker 2: they make the big they make the trick play. Okay,
- 38:03Speaker 2: now now you're not to eight. Okay, yeah, have a
- 38:04Speaker 2: good two point conversion. Okay, they scored it again. Now
- 38:09Speaker 2: here's where one of the calls had people going crazy
- 38:11Speaker 2: on social media and what and and I saw this
- 38:13Speaker 2: from people who were Texas fans and not Texas fans
- 38:15Speaker 2: and Arizona State fans. Listen, a well rounded take again,
- 38:19Speaker 2: with about a minute twenty to go, ish Arizona State's
- 38:24Speaker 2: driving and midfield, they throw a pass across the middle
- 38:28Speaker 2: field and a player of peers get hit with a helmet,
- 38:31Speaker 2: which to me looked like targeting. Now I literally saw,
- 38:36Speaker 2: I'm a Texas hater, so I'm a little bit biased here, but.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Through a helmet the way you said it though, So
- 38:41Speaker 1: he got hit by he got hit with the helmet,
- 38:44Speaker 1: so it appear up there's a lot of helmet contacts.
- 38:48Speaker 2: Yeah, and again so and I'm sure I won't see
- 38:51Speaker 2: him now, But again I saw that as so many
- 38:53Speaker 2: people say, the simple sentence. If that's not targeting nowadays,
- 38:57Speaker 2: what is? And I did hear a great point un
- 39:00Speaker 2: listening to kf at er Minneapolis station, Ben Lever talking
- 39:03Speaker 2: about how the crowd of the helmet rule is no
- 39:06Speaker 2: longer an actual rule that was taken away a couple
- 39:08Speaker 2: of years ago, which I didn't know, and say, well,
- 39:11Speaker 2: it's not the crowd, So the crowd the helmet rule
- 39:13Speaker 2: doesn't play anymore. Okay, but if we're looking for a
- 39:18Speaker 2: forcible hit to a defensive receiver to head neck area,
- 39:22Speaker 2: that was literally that The announcers on the game set
- 39:25Speaker 2: it was the ref who they had watched the game
- 39:28Speaker 2: said it was. I just don't know how you could
- 39:32Speaker 2: review that call and not call it targeting. Now, with
- 39:35Speaker 2: that said, for I throw it at you. I am
- 39:37Speaker 2: aware Arizona State maybe had the worst kicker in America
- 39:40Speaker 2: of the Power five conferences. So was it a guarantee
- 39:43Speaker 2: they go down to win the game. No, but they
- 39:46Speaker 2: should have added chance. But again, just the fact that
- 39:49Speaker 2: that call got picked up, it was called not targeting. Again,
- 39:54Speaker 2: if that is not called targeting, I would love to
- 39:58Speaker 2: I would love to know from these officials why that
- 40:00Speaker 2: call was made. You know, like NBA nowadays they have
- 40:02Speaker 2: the they have like the two inter reviews where rest
- 40:05Speaker 2: will say, hey, we missed this call. We did that.
- 40:07Speaker 2: The NBA does a great job of explaining why they
- 40:09Speaker 2: did what they did. And even if you f up, hey,
- 40:11Speaker 2: at least you make you f to up. I didn't
- 40:13Speaker 2: hear the reason for why that was not called targeting.
- 40:16Speaker 2: Because the dude got hit hard to the head, his
- 40:18Speaker 2: head sat back, he didn't like get he didn't like
- 40:21Speaker 2: lunge off his feet, but it's still it wasn't.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Steering, but they used to call it steering where he
- 40:27Speaker 1: came with his head first.
- 40:29Speaker 2: Yeah, but the dude was a defenseless receiver. The whole
- 40:33Speaker 2: world seem thing is targeting, but it wasn't called And
- 40:36Speaker 2: that was a huge break in because it just that
- 40:39Speaker 2: should have been fit forty yards like I don't unless
- 40:42Speaker 2: you're a dire Texas fan like I don't. If that,
- 40:45Speaker 2: if that was not called it, then we need to
- 40:48Speaker 2: revisit the rule or I would love to have heard
- 40:51Speaker 2: from the official why that wasn't called it, because that,
- 40:54Speaker 2: to me, Chris Allen's like a text target. Now again,
- 40:57Speaker 2: is the guarantee they win? No, because their kicker was
- 40:59Speaker 2: not that good. But that makes the game. It increases
- 41:03Speaker 2: their chances quite a bit for what the situation that
- 41:05Speaker 2: had been with the yards of the time left.
- 41:08Speaker 1: Yeah, and they were up thirty one to twenty four,
- 41:10Speaker 1: and they didn't need to give up a touchdown either
- 41:12Speaker 1: and all that, but right, yeah, talk about blitz fails,
- 41:17Speaker 1: talk about a shitty kicker though, I mean, Jesus Lord, yes,
- 41:21Speaker 1: they they could have been up three points and forced
- 41:24Speaker 1: them to kick that field goal and maybe it would
- 41:26Speaker 1: have went overtime anyway, you know. Yeah, and then after
- 41:30Speaker 1: that that actually didn't decide the game because they missed. Dude,
- 41:36Speaker 1: missed another. I know, he's got the most points or
- 41:41Speaker 1: field goals made in Texas history or whatever. They kept saying,
- 41:43Speaker 1: that's that, but thirty eight yarder, dude, talk about transfer portal?
- 41:49Speaker 1: Could he get the one right now? Just get it.
- 41:53Speaker 1: He's been shaky down the stretch. He's got a great
- 41:56Speaker 1: career as a kicker from the sounds of it, but
- 41:58Speaker 1: it's not going right now at all, but it's not.
- 42:03Speaker 1: It wasn't fearing, like you said, and maybe we need
- 42:06Speaker 1: to get back to that. And I think that's where
- 42:08Speaker 1: college football is compared to the pros right now, Marshall,
- 42:11Speaker 1: because I do agree with you and the vast majority
- 42:15Speaker 1: of people that that could have definitely been called helmet
- 42:19Speaker 1: to helmet target. I totally get now, do I understand
- 42:23Speaker 1: that that the way he did wrap him up and
- 42:27Speaker 1: all that, and then there was helmet contact. I thought
- 42:30Speaker 1: it was more than just helmet contact. And the reason
- 42:33Speaker 1: why I'm breaking this down is because we have seen
- 42:37Speaker 1: the rule change effect it more in college because we've
- 42:42Speaker 1: seen it almost every week. We've seen it and there
- 42:45Speaker 1: now you got helmets on for a reason. Okay, so
- 42:49Speaker 1: you're all gonna have some contact with your helmets. And
- 42:52Speaker 1: I do think that they should. They should go after
- 42:55Speaker 1: the offensive player just as much, and they have yet
- 42:58Speaker 1: to do that barely because Nico, remember Nico in that
- 43:02Speaker 1: game against Ohio State and then cracked his helmet. He
- 43:05Speaker 1: put his helmet down in there. Yeah, he put his
- 43:09Speaker 1: head in it, you know, So it's like, well, that
- 43:11Speaker 1: should be a fall on him, But no, I agree
- 43:14Speaker 1: it shouldn't. It could have been should have been what
- 43:16Speaker 1: everyone's saying. It could have been targeting, But we have
- 43:18Speaker 1: seen where if the shoulder hits first and you're wrapping
- 43:22Speaker 1: up and you're not just leaving your feet going for
- 43:24Speaker 1: the head and then there's contact. I do like how
- 43:28Speaker 1: they've tweaked that rule, because let's not forget years ago,
- 43:32Speaker 1: we were really pissed off at some of this stuff, remember,
- 43:35Speaker 1: and it was like, all right, dude, what are we
- 43:36Speaker 1: doing now? The kid has to lead the game and
- 43:38Speaker 1: he's out for the next half. What the fuck are
- 43:41Speaker 1: we doing? You know? And it was over the top
- 43:44Speaker 1: because we now know between the NFL, especially the NFL,
- 43:48Speaker 1: we know what the fuck this shit is. Did we
- 43:49Speaker 1: see we're all experts on the replay now because we've
- 43:53Speaker 1: seen so much of this shit, and so you know
- 43:55Speaker 1: when someone's trying to spear and target the head and
- 43:58Speaker 1: that's it for the most part. Didn't. So I do
- 44:01Speaker 1: think the upper body in the wrap up was involved,
- 44:05Speaker 1: but it definitely could have been. I wouldn't have set
- 44:09Speaker 1: I would have blinked that I I thought it was
- 44:11Speaker 1: gonna be targeting. I did. I did. Viewers has been
- 44:16Speaker 1: up and down all around. He sure made some plays
- 44:19Speaker 1: in this game. Gotta give him credit. He made a
- 44:22Speaker 1: couple of I mean, he had a in many ways
- 44:25Speaker 1: a great game, and he came through with a clutch
- 44:27Speaker 1: and they ended up getting it done thirty nine to
- 44:31Speaker 1: thirty one. But you're right, Texas has just been, you know,
- 44:34Speaker 1: barely holding on and and just not living up to
- 44:39Speaker 1: their potential. You know, they do have a decent amount
- 44:43Speaker 1: of players that played in the semifinals last year. Return
- 44:47Speaker 1: your quarterback. You have quality court or running or well
- 44:50Speaker 1: you have running backs too, but you have quality wide receivers.
- 44:53Speaker 1: But she's she's got a trickle water was dying there.
- 44:58Speaker 1: It's just it's just not you just can't put it,
- 45:02Speaker 1: like you said, a whole sixty minutes together. And they're
- 45:05Speaker 1: fucking gonna have to do it this week, that's for sure.
- 45:08Speaker 1: We know that. Or because you get up on them,
- 45:12Speaker 1: you better put them away because they know they're not
- 45:16Speaker 1: going out like that. All right, we'll get to that
- 45:18Speaker 1: game in just a second. But Notre Dame Georgia did
- 45:21Speaker 1: get postponed because of the horrendous act of violence, which
- 45:26Speaker 1: you know is something that we at some point hopefully
- 45:30Speaker 1: deal with. Just in general, and I'm not talking about
- 45:32Speaker 1: just guns and all that. I'm talking about just in general,
- 45:36Speaker 1: mental health and all this shit that we do need
- 45:38Speaker 1: to invest in our country and our people, so we
- 45:40Speaker 1: don't necessarily get to that point. But it did get moved,
- 45:45Speaker 1: It did get moved. I don't think that really affected
- 45:50Speaker 1: the game all that much, to be honest with you.
- 45:54Speaker 1: And and another thing that people are talking about the
- 45:57Speaker 1: people that got to buy. All the people that got
- 45:58Speaker 1: to buy lost right, And it's like, well, you know,
- 46:04Speaker 1: it's because they were rusty, right, But usually Russ is
- 46:08Speaker 1: off after at least the first quarter. Sometimes it's that
- 46:11Speaker 1: first drive whatever. So I'm not saying you can't be rusty,
- 46:16Speaker 1: but it's not like the team who had played who.
- 46:20Speaker 1: By the way, Notre Dame came out looking pretty good
- 46:23Speaker 1: in that Indiana game and they rested. They got three weeks.
- 46:27Speaker 1: People forget the people that the teams that weren't in
- 46:29Speaker 1: the conference final got three weeks off. Dude, they got
- 46:33Speaker 1: three weeks off too. Ohio State shooting come out rusty?
- 46:36Speaker 1: Are we gonna blame Tennessee at the same time off?
- 46:40Speaker 1: So let's let some of these go by before we
- 46:43Speaker 1: start saying oh no, more buys. Shouldn't do the buye
- 46:46Speaker 1: were used to literally twenty eight days off some of these,
- 46:49Speaker 1: some of these you know, championship games in semi finals
- 46:55Speaker 1: and all that. So I think that there's enough knowledge
- 46:59Speaker 1: on how to do it, because that's how college football's
- 47:03Speaker 1: been set up since I was a kid, and even
- 47:06Speaker 1: more extended with the semi final. It's always been like
- 47:09Speaker 1: three and a half weeks for the top teams going
- 47:12Speaker 1: for the so and I understand the difference of a
- 47:14Speaker 1: team ten days ago get to play and get I
- 47:17Speaker 1: get that, but this game was three to three for
- 47:21Speaker 1: a while. They had plenty of time to get the
- 47:23Speaker 1: rust off. Okay, and Notre Dame did what they had
- 47:29Speaker 1: to do in this game, right, They definitely won the game.
- 47:33Speaker 1: They did what they had to do with it. But
- 47:35Speaker 1: if you're only gonna blame rust or the backup quarterback
- 47:38Speaker 1: and that's it, that's where you lose me. Leonard didn't
- 47:42Speaker 1: do much through the air, but he sure did on
- 47:45Speaker 1: the ground. And Georgia once again couldn't run twenty nine carries,
- 47:49Speaker 1: so they tried to do it sixty six yards though,
- 47:53Speaker 1: that's it, And actually that gunner stocked and play pretty good, dude,
- 47:57Speaker 1: that played pretty good. This game came down to a
- 48:00Speaker 1: coupul of things. Marshall. You had a great run, a
- 48:04Speaker 1: great drive, thirteen plays, seven minutes. You got all the
- 48:10Speaker 1: way down close to the to the you know, to
- 48:14Speaker 1: getting it. You're on the sixteen yard line. You had
- 48:16Speaker 1: a six yard run, you're at the ten. You fumble.
- 48:20Speaker 1: That's probably a field goal, maybe a touchdown. I don't
- 48:22Speaker 1: like to give away touchdowns, but let's say it's somewhere
- 48:25Speaker 1: in there. Obviously. You know, another fumble that happened at
- 48:31Speaker 1: the end of the half set them up to where
- 48:35Speaker 1: they only had to go thirteen yards. That's a touchdown.
- 48:38Speaker 1: And then when you start the second half with a
- 48:41Speaker 1: kickoff touchdown. That's those three things are what happened here.
- 48:46Speaker 1: That's how this game came apart. And George, hey, I
- 48:50Speaker 1: got I get credit. They got down twenty to thirty
- 48:53Speaker 1: or to twenty three. They fought back and they just
- 48:57Speaker 1: couldn't finish drives. Dude. They had they had a drug.
- 49:00Speaker 1: You know, it's twenty to ten. They turned over Notre
- 49:03Speaker 1: Dame on downs. Then they had a turnover on downs
- 49:06Speaker 1: held into a field goal. Eleven play drive turn him
- 49:09Speaker 1: over on downs. So I don't think rust had anything
- 49:12Speaker 1: to do with this, because once you're at least a
- 49:15Speaker 1: possession or two, the rust is usually gone. And like
- 49:18Speaker 1: I said, Georgia's been winning championships and playing late seasons,
- 49:22Speaker 1: so they know how to do this. I just thought
- 49:24Speaker 1: it came down to those three things, man, Like you
- 49:27Speaker 1: didn't score when you could have, you fumbled right before
- 49:32Speaker 1: the end of the half, you gave up a touchdown,
- 49:34Speaker 1: and then a kickoff. That's basically how they won the game.
- 49:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I actually thought that Georgia was probably the better
- 49:43Speaker 2: team in the first half, like, and that quarterback did
- 49:45Speaker 2: pretty well. I will add one more play, and I'm
- 49:49Speaker 2: not gonna rip on the kid, just gonna know he
- 49:53Speaker 2: was a walk on kid in the ESTO was kind
- 49:54Speaker 2: of ripping him a little bit. But that play was
- 49:57Speaker 2: big too. Where the where the kid got the way
- 50:00Speaker 2: of the ref because you went from first to go
- 50:03Speaker 2: on to nine to now you have first and ten
- 50:05Speaker 2: on the twenty five, which led to a field goal,
- 50:07Speaker 2: which I bet field goal first over touchdown, So thank.
- 50:10Speaker 1: You for that trip up.
- 50:11Speaker 2: But and that that paid really nice too. But with
- 50:16Speaker 2: that instead, I actually bet George in the game as well,
- 50:18Speaker 2: and they lost. So I really again, the first half
- 50:21Speaker 2: besides the before the last twenty seconds, I know that
- 50:23Speaker 2: you'd had some fls, but still if you're George, like dude,
- 50:27Speaker 2: you're moving the ball pretty well. Like now in fare
- 50:29Speaker 2: is that first fumble that Notre Dame dB, that was
- 50:34Speaker 2: one of the best hits I've seen in college football,
- 50:36Speaker 2: like in my life. Like he literally met that guy
- 50:40Speaker 2: in the whole and knocked that ship out of him.
- 50:42Speaker 2: So that was an incredible defensive play by George and
- 50:45Speaker 2: force that first fumble, and then you had you had
- 50:48Speaker 2: to pick up with the guy on the sideline the
- 50:49Speaker 2: off side. Kidded me to do it, but it happens
- 50:52Speaker 2: that ruined that drive. And at the very end of
- 50:54Speaker 2: the half, if you're Kirby, you probably could have ran
- 50:58Speaker 2: the clock out, like there was really there really wasn't
- 51:01Speaker 2: an amount of time and were trying to make a play.
- 51:03Speaker 2: But like, and so the fact that that I saw
- 51:06Speaker 2: that stat kind of had hit me for a second.
- 51:08Speaker 2: I'm like, dude, Uh, the Odor Dames scored seventeen points
- 51:12Speaker 2: like this fan of twenty seven seconds. That is insane, Like, dude,
- 51:17Speaker 2: that was that was a close game and all of
- 51:19Speaker 2: a sudden, you're like, well, oh wait, wait here, wait ABC,
- 51:22Speaker 2: oh dude, now we're down big, like and they kind
- 51:24Speaker 2: of felt over and away. So they if if you
- 51:28Speaker 2: look at the box score again and you're just like, dude, okay,
- 51:31Speaker 2: just some first like fifty eight seconds, okay, all right,
- 51:35Speaker 2: well they scored. They scored the ten points in like
- 51:37Speaker 2: twenty second. It was something crazy. We're like, man, Georgia
- 51:41Speaker 2: actually really played pretty well. That kid actually made quite
- 51:44Speaker 2: a few good passes. You had a couple of a
- 51:46Speaker 2: couple of costing mistakes, a couple of turnovers, a sideline hiccup,
- 51:51Speaker 2: and all of a sudden due I you're down too much.
- 51:53Speaker 2: And then in the fourth quarter, I did feel that
- 51:56Speaker 2: there Dame's defense either figured out or George is often
- 52:00Speaker 2: it's kind of lost its lust or luster. Uh, because
- 52:03Speaker 2: again I really did think I bet Georgia alive win
- 52:07Speaker 2: that game in the second court, because I really thought
- 52:08Speaker 2: that they were playing, well, Okay, this new kid's not
- 52:10Speaker 2: that bad. You had a couple of higgoster, You're.
- 52:12Speaker 1: Gonna be good.
- 52:13Speaker 2: But then Notre Dame's defense really did kind of tie
- 52:16Speaker 2: up the ship because of the fourth quarter, where you've
- 52:18Speaker 2: seen that Georgia come back caplazone times, Chris, they didn't
- 52:21Speaker 2: and Notre Dame did kind of lock into Riley Leonard again,
- 52:24Speaker 2: do you throw the ball in the air that well? Like, no,
- 52:26Speaker 2: not really, but hey, I'll give him credit. He was
- 52:29Speaker 2: dipping his head down and run through the trenches like
- 52:32Speaker 2: a don't got the balls to do that that dude. Hey,
- 52:38Speaker 2: if our part team is gonna win a Natty this year,
- 52:39Speaker 2: it's gonna because I'm gonna lower my shoulder and carry
- 52:41Speaker 2: my team. Uh so, big picture from Notre Dame. I
- 52:46Speaker 2: will again not irish fed either. I have issues swimming
- 52:50Speaker 2: these teams, but I.
- 52:51Speaker 1: Will say that your fans up or no, you just
- 52:53Speaker 1: hate that.
- 52:54Speaker 2: They don't make the playoffs. But I can't switch. I'm
- 52:58Speaker 2: too old for that. But I will say for a
- 53:01Speaker 2: school that has played Alabama for a handful of playoff
- 53:06Speaker 2: years and got their dog walked down the field, Hey,
- 53:11Speaker 2: you finally won a big game. H George quarterback hurt
- 53:14Speaker 2: who cares? Like, dude, you played a top dog from
- 53:17Speaker 2: the championship without him? Yeah, So hats off to Freeman again.
- 53:23Speaker 2: You you've been embarrassed, You've always been well, dude, Notre Dame.
- 53:25Speaker 2: Yet you're not in a conference, have a little bit
- 53:27Speaker 2: easier schedule. Hey, you're always making it. You're always getting
- 53:30Speaker 2: beat up by a Clemson or Obama. Hey, you played
- 53:33Speaker 2: a team that won the SEC and you and you
- 53:36Speaker 2: and you beat them, So hats off to them. No, obviously,
- 53:39Speaker 2: would an Order Dame fan care if they lose this
- 53:41Speaker 2: next week? Probably not, you know, but by you got
- 53:43Speaker 2: a big win of hats off to Freeman because I
- 53:46Speaker 2: d took a lot of shit this first year, and
- 53:48Speaker 2: obviously he had the hiccup against an IU this year.
- 53:51Speaker 2: But uh, for them, that's a big win because obviously
- 53:54Speaker 2: this is not the Notre Dame of old, who was
- 53:56Speaker 2: a dominant program like in the late eighties and nineties.
- 53:59Speaker 2: K but Rick had of getting back on the track,
- 54:01Speaker 2: and that was probably the biggest win Notre Dames had
- 54:04Speaker 2: since the year two thousand. Probably it's up there something
- 54:08Speaker 2: like that. So I'll give them.
- 54:09Speaker 1: Florida State since Florida State in the nineties. Uh, And
- 54:13Speaker 1: they lost to Boston College the very next week by
- 54:17Speaker 1: a kick a kick Yeah.
- 54:20Speaker 2: Hey, Thatt's on And if you're Georgia, dude, I know
- 54:24Speaker 2: those fans are obviously every fan a wise one. But dude,
- 54:26Speaker 2: your team won forty games and are on the regular
- 54:28Speaker 2: season and you made the Elite Eight again. Like, dude,
- 54:32Speaker 2: I know you didn't win it this year, but it's hard.
- 54:35Speaker 2: As I was telling a friend at work today, it's
- 54:37Speaker 2: hard to stay on top forever. Like, dude, in the
- 54:40Speaker 2: past four years, you've been the best in the college football. Like,
- 54:42Speaker 2: what do you know? Your team lost? Okay, I know't
- 54:44Speaker 2: your quarterback get hurt, but shit, a lot of people
- 54:47Speaker 2: get hurt, Like it's just in the years too.
- 54:50Speaker 1: So many drops. Yeah, their best receiver was out, their
- 54:54Speaker 1: second best guy got kicked off the team. They had
- 54:58Speaker 1: like some how many fucking drops all season long and
- 55:02Speaker 1: that and we saw like multiple in this game that
- 55:05Speaker 1: could have changed the game.
- 55:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I just hey, you finally slipped up. Like it happens, dude.
- 55:12Speaker 2: No one in sports is immortal. Every every team is run.
- 55:16Speaker 2: Comes in and could Georgie make the Final four next year? Absolutely,
- 55:20Speaker 2: I'm sure they could. They'll probably be the favorites to
- 55:22Speaker 2: do it next year. But they slipped up short a
- 55:24Speaker 2: little bit this year.
- 55:26Speaker 1: Yeah, true, all right, So the Marquee matchup, the rematch
- 55:32Speaker 1: turned out to be just a one sided slaughter. Looking
- 55:36Speaker 1: at a score that makes it look better than it is.
- 55:39Speaker 1: This is one of those scores because that ship was
- 55:45Speaker 1: they got to thirty four to zero for grace or
- 55:48Speaker 1: thirty one zero whatever. I mean that that ship. They
- 55:51Speaker 1: came out like gangbusters, and you know, a couple of
- 55:56Speaker 1: broken tackles on that first play it's a touchdown. It's
- 55:59Speaker 1: just the shit. It just happened like really quickly, and
- 56:04Speaker 1: there was just not much you could do about it.
- 56:06Speaker 1: I mean, Will Howard throwing dimes again. They're running the ball,
- 56:10Speaker 1: they're setting up the pass to run the ball. Jeremiah
- 56:15Speaker 1: Smith's going nuts. He's got like over three hundred yards
- 56:19Speaker 1: in two games so far. And then this is what
- 56:23Speaker 1: really blew my mind. Eight fucking sacks, thirteen tackles for last, dude,
- 56:32Speaker 1: Oh my god, that's that's almost unheard of against the
- 56:37Speaker 1: matchup like this where it was a close game. I mean, dude,
- 56:41Speaker 1: like on paper, I mean, thirteen tackles for lost nine PBUs.
- 56:46Speaker 1: I mean they got pressure on Gabriel, they shut up.
- 56:50Speaker 1: I mean we know that the you know, wh when
- 56:54Speaker 1: you get sacked, a bunch of messes up your rushing yards.
- 56:56Speaker 1: So so we know they clearly did better, but not really.
- 57:01Speaker 1: You know, they had twenty eight carries for negative twenty
- 57:04Speaker 1: twenty three yards. Marshall Gabriel had negative forty three year
- 57:09Speaker 1: rushing yards because those sacks. I mean, we know James
- 57:13Speaker 1: left after seven carries. Honestly, it was a three touchdown game.
- 57:17Speaker 1: Maybe you know, like if they just look destructive and
- 57:22Speaker 1: I love how they're passing to run and they clearly
- 57:26Speaker 1: wanted to run more this year, but you don't want
- 57:29Speaker 1: to in one year. You're not gonna turn into Michigan. Right,
- 57:32Speaker 1: You're not just gonna oh Michigan. And why would you anyway,
- 57:36Speaker 1: You have different talent, you gotta to use it. And
- 57:40Speaker 1: Jesus criminging these dudes that Michigan loss is the best
- 57:46Speaker 1: thing that ever happened.
- 57:47Speaker 2: To him this year, you bastard. I literally was gonna
- 57:51Speaker 2: just say that exact thing. I can't literally that wit
- 57:55Speaker 2: that that dude, that's just friendship of over're almost twenty
- 57:58Speaker 2: years now. I'm just thinking the same thing of better
- 58:00Speaker 2: sports fans. Yeah, because even though it did get people
- 58:05Speaker 2: to say, oh, Ryan Day might be fired, we don't
- 58:07Speaker 2: win the.
- 58:07Speaker 1: National championship, blah blah blah, like.
- 58:10Speaker 2: Dude, that that lost pissless people off so bad that
- 58:15Speaker 2: you literally have just seen them obliterate to ff and
- 58:19Speaker 2: really good teams. Tennessee was really good this year, so yes,
- 58:27Speaker 2: and Will Howard was like, oh, dude, I'm gonna go
- 58:29Speaker 2: Payton Manning on this or I like, well, I don't know,
- 58:31Speaker 2: he's from testing whatever, Like dude, he he threw passes
- 58:34Speaker 2: that Mannu threw when he was a cult like and
- 58:37Speaker 2: then you obliterated Oregon like that loss pissed them off
- 58:42Speaker 2: so bad, Like, dude, we're gonna raise hell for the
- 58:45Speaker 2: rest of the year. And besides people in Michigan who
- 58:47Speaker 2: are like, dude, we still beat your ass.
- 58:49Speaker 1: Haha, you know, happy the Ohio State and Bama to close.
- 58:56Speaker 2: Yeah, you're they're they're living a good life. And they
- 58:58Speaker 2: paid that ten mil for that quarterback him over there
- 59:00Speaker 2: from LSU. So uh, but it's overalls. He came in,
- 59:06Speaker 2: he's a he's a roo, he's a freshman. Or they
- 59:09Speaker 2: persuaded him. Oh yeah, they persuaded. But dude, I I
- 59:16Speaker 2: what can you say? This team is on a war path.
- 59:19Speaker 2: And as I said, I was.
- 59:21Speaker 1: Shocked watching the game, completely shocked, like.
- 59:24Speaker 2: That they're playing a Texas team who doesn't normally play
- 59:27Speaker 2: a full sixty. Dude, if you're Texas, dude, you can't.
- 59:31Speaker 2: You can't take a quarter off versus this team because
- 59:34Speaker 2: you're gonna be down twenty stat like I do that
- 59:38Speaker 2: now again. I it's not just me, Okay, it's not
- 59:41Speaker 2: just a martial war to hate like Landings gets has
- 59:44Speaker 2: been a little bit ship because in the biggest games
- 59:46Speaker 2: house he does the coach again, I don't I really
- 59:49Speaker 2: don't know, like if this even like dude, Tennessee and
- 59:52Speaker 2: omer like dude or not former h whatever, the dude,
- 59:56Speaker 2: Tennessee's got a good coach. Land's good coach, Like dude,
- 59:59Speaker 2: this team is run through anyone that could have been
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: Nick Saban, it could have been Kirby Smart like, unless
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: this team has just a huge like Gaff or just
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: a mental brain cramp. Like dude, this team is on
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: a freaking mission. They're just gonna keep rolling through people
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: like and the way they're playing an offense, I don't
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: see him turn the ball over. Uh, you know, I
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: was listening to Scott Van Peld and Stanford Steve and
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: Stanford Steve, but I guess that the sielands that game
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: and Chris Carter, the guy who we know because we're
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: Viking fans. I know personally, but you guys love watching
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: plays like I guess have first touchdown? He turned down
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: and said he is an MF and stunt like that.
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: Dude's a bad man. And dude, when when I when
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: I when one of the best receivers in NFL history
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: says that this freshman is like an MF and bad dude, Like, okay,
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: dude like that dude freshman, yes, which is dude, that's
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: that's not normal, Like there's a rule you gotta play
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: three years for college football because your body's gotta mature
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: and grow again learn the sport like.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: That.
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: That dude's cold.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: Like he's play and play right now and play.
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: Yeah, so I could break this game down, but dude,
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: you're they're on a heater, as they say the hangover.
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: You don't leave Vegas for rann a heater, like, dude,
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: this team's on a heater. They're now about to play
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: a team who is good skill for skill recruit wise
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: five star, five star. Okay, but Texas plays with their
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: food again. You cannot afford to take half a quarter
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: off versus team because they will drop points on you,
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: or their defense will make a quarterback in Quinnie or Is,
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: who occasion sometimes plays pedestrian games look bad. So uh,
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: hey again, they were pissed off for three weeks of
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: showing test see, and I've set up to rip myself
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: a little bit. I said in the last week's podcast,
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: Hey can they rep Can they play that same way again?
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: Like they look so good for tennesty? Can they play
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: as good? Dude? They maybe played even better, So I'm
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: not gonna say it again this week. Dude, you're you're
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: you're on the heater, you're on a roll and could
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: you really get yes? You can like that that that
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: Will Howard is not a roll on that that receivering
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: Corps Knights. That Smith is that kid special.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: And like I said, they've been running the ball, they've
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: been playing killer. Their defense has always been pretty damn good.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: It got your times deep against Oregon and loses Stewart.
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: You know that that hurt Oregon, But that's if it's
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: forty one or thirty five or something. That's a difference maker.
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: But when you're getting your ass kick, dude, it don't matter.
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: You know that type of stuff you gotta put to
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: the side. Yeah it helps, but come out, you know
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: what I mean. But yeah, they're they're they you know
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: how I said, oh, there's six six out of the
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: eight teams had a chance, but usually we know who
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: was winning. They feel like that team where you knew
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: all along they're gonna win, you know right now, like
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: these last two games, some of the stuff they've done
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: in the regular season where you're just like, dude, this
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: is kind of looking like one of those teams where
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: you thought, man, I hope, I hope Clemson can give
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: Bama a good run in the finals. You know that
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: type of shit. That's what they're on right now. Let's
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: save it though, Let's get to the one that's even closer.
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: Match on the ground, throwback type, grind it out, Notre
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: Dame Pennant State. We're getting to the semis close, close
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: game on paper. You know, injuries could play a part,
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: maybe a major part. I say that because you do
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: have the Abdual Carter defensive lineman, outside linebacker, whatever you
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: want to say, that the guy that's gonna get to
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: the quarterback and you know, can help him run as well.
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: He got hurt, he left the game, but you know,
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: I thought maybe they thought they could just get by.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: It's Boise Stable get by. Maybe he's hurt and it's
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: gonna be a problem, giving his Star Wars references on
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: social media. He's gonna play. We'll see they're they're running back.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: Notre Dame Love explosive player, not taking anyway from the
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: other running back. Both teams have two running backs. I
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: would definitely say to Notre Dame's more explosive, speedy running backs.
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: But Allen Is is really good. Too many break tackles,
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: He's quick, YadA, YadA, YadA. But if Love's hurt, and
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: I've heard on two different podcasts hearing it on the
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: cover three just this afternoon, saying that he's got a
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: brace on his foot now and there as ankle or whatever,
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: He's gonna play probably, But is he gonna be the same,
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: I don't know. Obviously, Riley Mill their their best defensive
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: player Notre Dame. He's been out since game one. And
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: I did like how Kirby Smart said because they were
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: trying to put blame on the buy and it's like, okay, well,
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: you know, I doubt that Notre Dame wanted to lose
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: that their best defensive player, and one of their best
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: players on their team in the first round. I doubt
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: they'd want to do they'd probably have three games. They'd
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: want three games instead of forward. So so we gotta
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: we We won't know until then. And you know, in
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: the Big ten two hours for a kickoff, they do
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: release shit, right, But that that's out the window because
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: once again the n Cuba doesn't have any balls or
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: mind or whatever. They don't force this shit on them,
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: so they're not gonna put it out. Why would you.
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: I'm not playing Penn State or Minnesota. That just happened too.
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: Why would you put something out if you know the
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: other team's not gonna have to do it, So wanted
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: to get the injury stuff out of the way. You know,
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: Aler has a better arm right, and they're probably gonna
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: take some shots. Riley just a better runner, scrambler. I
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: guess you could say playmaker. It ain't gonna be pretty sometimes,
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: not to say he doesn't have an army, can't hit
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: somebody thirty yard passing all that again, but he's just
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: kind of like a playmaker. So if I'm lining up,
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: who has a better chance to be on a pro team?
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: That's Aller? I think Aller's gonna do really well at
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: the combine and Pro Day and all that stuff. But
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: as a playmaker, Riley is better, and sometimes that's all
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: you need in college football. So I honestly think it
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: comes down to like which quarterback is gonna make those
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: few plays and it literally could be three or four
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: Marshalls and that'll be the difference of the game. Yeah,
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: both elite defenses too. These defenses are fucking good.
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I was gonna say. I do think
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: that I did it again. Huh, this will not be
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: the most entertaining game offensive You didn't steal like Zacht quote. No,
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: but we're on the same page, brother.
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: Unless you love and guts and cuts, you know, all
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: that type of stuff.
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: I I think you got to give a slight edge.
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: Notre Dame made. This is my Franklin Bashan talking yet again.
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: But I do think they're just uh just maybe maybe
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: just maybe just a little bit better overall team from
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: like offensive defense combined. Like, I just think it's a
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: slight edge there. I mean, damn, this is kind of
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: a spot where it's like, dude, who like these are
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: these are two schools? We're like, dude, this is your
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: time to shine? Like neither of you all been able
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: to quite do this for the past ten fifty years.
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: We're like, God, you're always there. But you know, Penn
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: State has had the tough road of having to deal
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: with Michigan, Ohio State, Michigan State, you know, the Big Ten,
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: and Notre Dame's always had to deal with Bama or
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: just going through a blood bat. So like now like
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: you're both there, Like who is truly gonna show out now?
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: Like you passed all your hurdles, you passed all your enemies, Like, dude,
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: this is a huge game for whoever wins it. I know,
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: obviously no one wants to go to the NADDY and
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: that lose it. But this is a big, big win
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: for either school because neither neither have really had a
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: chance to be on this stage now.
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: So yes, but yeah, I guess is something that they
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: said about Franklin that if they did that study in
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: the last ten years, they would have made the playoffs
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: like four or five times. But they did, like you mentioned,
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: had to go through a like yeah, we know it's
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: not the SEC East or West, but it's the second
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: best division back then. Yeah.
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: Yeah, so man, I may maybe Notre David has a
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: little bit of a boost from off that Georgia win too,
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: just because it's overall that was Saul Portance. But you know,
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: if I'm gonna be harsh on Penn State again, I
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: might as look at the same thing with Notre Dame Again.
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: I thought Georgia probably played the better for half, But
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: you just made a couple of big play you know.
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: So I I think this is a close game. I
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: really do. So that Stockton kid moved the ball on you.
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: So I think you actually sumed up really nicely. Because
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: I'm going back and forth my head of who would
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: I picked to win, I think this one of those
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: games where you play them ten times, it's a fifty
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: to fifty winner for both. Like both teams have quarterbacks,
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: both teams have defenses you trust. Obviously, Franklin has more
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: experience than Freeman, so like you could probably give an
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: edge for the coaching, are you, but Freeman's done a
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: great job. Like I think you can go back and forth.
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: There's a lot of different pros and cons from both,
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: but overall, like these are two teams led by defenses. Offensively,
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: they've been pretty good this year, but well it's just
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: it's a it's a close matchup. I will say, though offensively,
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: that that stunt the dude, that's like a freaking like
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: a morph of a tight end slash fullback slash like
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: one receiver Penn State.
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: Yeah, Tyler Warren, I think that is the one thing
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: I get.
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: You've got to him in check. Yes, that dude, that dude,
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: I still I can't believe he had like fifteen catches
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: versus USC and like one hundred and fifty yards. Like
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: that dude is not normal. So if you're Penn State,
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: sorry if you're not name, contain him. You have a
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: great chance to win. Like that dude is. He's built
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: like a truck. He never drops a pass. He's gonna
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: probably catch ten to fifteen passes in the game this week.
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: So you can find a way contain him. You're sinning pretty,
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: but that's easier. Said the dugs. I'm pretty sure. I'm
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: not really one that knows who this guy as, So
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: I'm gonna take I'm gonna go with Notre Dame. I
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: do think it's a close one. I'm just gonna give
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: a slight edge, but I think this game comes down
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: the fourth quarter. I'd be very, very surprised if either
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: team won this game by double digits. I think both
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: these defenses are good. Both these offenses are decent, but
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: I don't think that it's gonna I'd be shocked if
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: a blow ou occurs. Chris, I'll say that I only
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: know it's kind of a cop out, but I don't
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: see really either of these schools run away run out
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: the gym on the other one.
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I think maybe that would happen if they did
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: play ten times, right, like one of those games or
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: whatever for both or whatever. But I agree with you.
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: I like how you put that. It'd probably be five
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: to five. And I do favor just because of explosive this.
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: I do favor if love's healthy. I do favor the
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: Notre Dame run game. But it's I mean, Krens fucking
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: good man, He's still really good. And then if you're
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: playing great defenses, so they're probably both defenses, like I said,
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: are gonna be like, all right, make the quarterbacks beach,
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: you dude, Like that's what they're gonna try to do.
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: And I would the the secondary for both sides really
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: really good, really really good. But I think I don't
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: know that Notre Dame might have a better secondary, and
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: it's about matching up with safeties and linebackers and that
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: type of thing, with that Tyler Warren. You know. So
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: it is a fifty to fifty game. I'm just gonna
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: I'll just be on the opposite side of it. I'll
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: be I'll be Ben State, I'll be Penn State. I
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: think overall, wind loser draw. They've had a tougher schedule,
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: and I just think that they've now proven they can
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: throw the ball better. Now we'll see if they can
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: actually do it. But I agree, it's a tight ass game,
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: very very close game. What one and a half two
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: is what I've normally seen. Yeah, I mean yeah, it's
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: it's gonna be a great game, though, just for the
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: grinded of old school defenses, that type of thing. Ohio
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: State in texts, you want to talk about Marquee matchup,
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: you want to talk about ratings. I want to talk
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: about blue buds Ohio State in Texas, Man, And I'm
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: pretty sure you're gonna have more Ohio State fans out
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: there tailgating in arlncin texts in that weather and more
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: than you are gonna with the long Horns and you know,
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: it's funny when you look at their offense and their defense,
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: it all kind of lines up. It's not that far.
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: You know, opponent rushing is one twelve to ninety two.
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: Texas does give up a little bit of rushing yards. Obviously,
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: they just gave up a bunch of rushing yards and
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: Clempston looked like they were down and out, and they
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: got it to a one score game. They came back
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: and had success. Besaw Arizona State have success. I do
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: think there'd have to be kind of, like you said
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: in the last segment, multiple things that just bounced Texas's way,
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: a fumble of the goal line, of this and that,
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: kind of like what Notre Dame did to Georgia, where
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: you're just like, dude, then what are you gonna do?
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: You know, Texas? You know, I believe on paper these
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: are the two talented teams in the country left. I
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: have wholehearted think that. And they do have wide receivers, man,
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: they do. It's very underrated. But will you get the
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: golden and bond and all that, Like, will you get
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: in the quarterback play? Will you get like I guess,
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: long story short, Texas has to play their very best
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: game of the year to beat Ohio State by like
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: a touchdown or less.
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: I just give you Ohio State the points, but do
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: you agree with that?
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: Like there's no other way they can win. They have
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: to play the sixty minutes, maybe eighty minutes, whatever it
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: is they have to. They cannot even let down a
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: little bit.
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: No, Like I said, if they take a quarter off
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: or Ohio States, this game is a wrap and they.
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: Just haven't done it. They'd already do it before we
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: got here. We damn sure wouldn't be as confident Ohio
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: State if they haven't won these games like this, right.
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah true? Just what what is Texas show
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: this year to make us think they're gonna beat like
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: curly the hottest team in the country right now who's
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: been playing some of the basketball in years? Like I
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: just yeah at all? I I just I think you
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: got take Texas to win, or sorry, take Ohio State
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: to cover the point spread, Like how do they not
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: win by a touchdown? Or more like I I I
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: was a fool to pick Tennessee. I I think I
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: picked Ohiose but I was like fully, but you know,
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: but it's like I'm I'm done down this team. Could
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: they come back to Earth, sure, but why would you now?
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: And and again, you're playing in a in a in
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: a control, controlled environment where the weather's gonna be good
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: and the receivers are gonna be on turf. Good luck Texas, okay.
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: And they got a secondary they may have to be secondary.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: You know. I just I line Texas does have a
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: great deepest line. But then again, where you know they're
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: frustrating team Texas, sometimes.
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: You're right, But yeah, I just think that team is
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: on the way to big of a role. I'm not
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: I Yeah, again, Texas probably is. They truly are our
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: top five team in the country. But you're playing a
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: team right now that's playing a different level than everyone
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: right now. So I'm not gonna come and pick against them.
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: I will take them to cover the spread, hope, and
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: the spread stays at six. It probably will because I'm
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: sure if the points from them to seven gan, people
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: that are gonna bet Texas just naturally, because that's how
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: football ben works for a value of a seven.
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: But I was wondering if that went up. You know,
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: when it opened at six, it was like, Hey, what
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: what's gonna do? But I've seen five and a half
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: more than I've seen seven.
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: That that team's not a heater. Dude, I just yeah, Hey, the.
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: Fans gonna show up to this one or no, they're gonna.
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: Show up or no, who knows.
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: I kind they won't count this win if if they
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: win because they lost the Michigans, that's gonna happen.
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: Who who knows that that fan that fan based the
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: psychotic but but you got but hey, it's it's well,
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: I hope the weather is okay because it's supposed to be.
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: It's supposed to be freezing rain that day, so normally
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: tailgated Jerry's World. You know, you got, you got, you
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: got to pay you one hundred dollars and go tail
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: gate outside. It's supposed to be like thirty two degrees
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: in snow with like sleep, so.
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: Fans would be out there with the T shirt.
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: Prob they'll be okay, Yeah, Austin fans, they're not used
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: to that at all, So we'll see. But I'm I mean,
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: you can break this game down, but dude, sometimes you
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: just gotta go with who's on fire and Ohio States
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: on fire. Texas hasn't played the complete game all year.
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: I'm taking a how I will be ben Ohio State
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: minus six and I will expect them to cover. If
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: they don't. We have a huge talking point next week
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: because dude, they're on a roll and injuries we're we're
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: something to happen sports or sports, you know, But dude,
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: that that team is on a freaking roll.
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: Now.
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: I did see someone some people on Twitter say we'll
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: do help about the Steve s LSU and the Burrow year.
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: Easy.
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: You know, Burrow Burrows team that year didn't lose the
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: arrival Michigan, Like, you know, I think that offense was
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: truly a truly different beast. But this is a really,
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: really good team and I think, yeah.
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: Let's not start doing that either, you know what I mean.
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: First of all, you gotta win the chip, yeah before
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: even talk about it. But second of all, we're gonna
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: get more of this, dude. The teams aren't gonna be
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: as high level as they were because they're not as deep.
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: That's just the bottom line, dude. And they try to
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: do that with Michigan last year. Remember they tried to
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: do that with Michigan. Michigan watam on two. Shut the
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: fuck up, dude. Yeah, and none of that, But how
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: about early Bama with Saban. They ran the fuck out
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: of the ball. That's all I did is run early.
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: Yeah, and until until my my my man Lane Kiffen
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: came over there to coach can throw the mall right
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: a little bit. Notice, Yeah, I got it. Gotta get
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: funny because.
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: I had mentioned him, like, you know, without saying his name.
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: I've said it, but I haven't said his name. And
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: I respect that you did get it.
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: In Yeah, I did in a smooth way too.
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: Yes, And I opened the door, so I mean that's my.
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I appreciate that.
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: I appreciate that.
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: So hey, so are you taking obviously half taking six
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: and six as well to cover I'm going I'm going
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: five and a half. Okay, you get that value, get
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: that value over I got.
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: And a half. I got just you don't get six.
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: They just need to get six, all right.
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: So yeah, I probably should have jump to that earlier too.
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: And I got that twenty plus two seventy five on
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: Ohio stayed about a month and a half ago.
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: Yeah that's good because I just saw that today right now.
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: Twelve you know, it's crazy even money to win it now.
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: So I made the bet after the Penn State game. Right,
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: it was very close to what I did last year
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: with Michigan.
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: And it ended up paying off. But when they lost
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: the Michigan, dude, that shit jumped up way high. Right,
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: It's like plus four, and I was like, well, I
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: can't touch it because they just lost, you know, like
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: I don't know, so I did, I didn't touch. But
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: then when they beat Tennessee, it's still was a little
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: higher than the one I got, so I put a
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: little bit more money on that one, sure, And then
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: now it's like, you know, obviously, like you said, I
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: stopped plus one twenty five, you stopped plus one twelve,
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: you said.
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: I saw, I saw minus one twelve minus.
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: Well, it's not even plus anymore, which makes it yeah,
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: true true. For a while, they tried to have me
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: buy back, dude, and they were offering more money than I.
- 1:20:52Speaker 3: Put down, you know, but a few weeks back value
- 1:20:58Speaker 3: the bullshit value for my bat too, though, you know,
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: when they lost the and they lost Michigan, like here,
- 1:21:04Speaker 3: I'll give you half your beat back.
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: Why don't you just take it, you know, and yeah, yeah,
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: we'll see all right.
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: Well, on that note, we will be breaking down the
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: semi final games and we will have a national championship
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: to discuss. Uh stay safe, stay warm, avoid that cold weather,
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: and uh we'll be back next week. The boys are
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: out tonight. Peace,
