- 0:00[SPEAKER_02]: Hey friend, welcome back to Bible Tract Echoes.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_02]: I'm Mike and McCurrier, host, and I thank you so much for joining me today.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_02]: Don't get a question for ya.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_02]: What?
- 0:10[SPEAKER_02]: Really interests you.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_02]: If you were stacking up and prioritizing a list of all the things that really grab your attention, would there be anything of any eternal nature on that list, or would everything be temporal?
- 0:27[SPEAKER_02]: Would everything be temporary?
- 0:29[SPEAKER_02]: Would everything be something you can see, feel touch, someone that's gonna, in the long run, dissipate and disappear?
- 0:38[SPEAKER_02]: Those that would ignore things of any eternal value,
- 0:44[SPEAKER_02]: You may need to listen up today.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_02]: I'm talking to Christians, I'm talking to those that wouldn't call themselves Christians.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_02]: They like both of us, all of us, we need to listen.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_02]: The thought today may sound harsh, may sound in your face, but it's true.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_02]: Hell will last forever.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna let Dr. Paul Levine, he preaches message many decades ago, but it's still so very true today, and the passion he has still seeps through your headphones and speakers today.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_02]: He's gonna speak to you about this topic of this place called Hell.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_02]: I want you to tune in, I want you to listen.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_02]: as Dr. Paul preaches to us.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: My pen listen, I don't know if you believe you have a soul or not or whether you are a soul or not, but you have a soul that's going to live forever somewhere.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: And the Bible says that things you can see will come to an end, but the things that you cannot see are the opposite of anything that comes to an end, the things that you cannot see are eternal.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: Your soul is eternal.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: You can't see your soul, but your soul is eternal.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: You can't see God, but he's eternal.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: you can't see heaven, but heaven is eternal.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: You can't see hell, but hell is eternal.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_00]: Now then look, since the things that you and I can see are only temporary and will someday come into an end.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: And if the things that we cannot see are eternal and will never end, then we ought to get left interested in what we can see and get more interested in something we can't see.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: And just think of the people who are living only for what they can see.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_00]: That's all I live for.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: All I live for is their job.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: All I live for is their salary.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_00]: All I live for is their go fishing.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: All I live for is to play golf.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: All I live for is to play ball.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: All I live for is to if they enjoy life.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: All I live for is what they can see right now and if forget about the fact that I'm younger somewhere there's eternity where the never dying soul is going to spend eternity, either in heaven or hell.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: And it won't get interesting what you can't see.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: Like a young lady who was invited to come to hear me preach one night in the Chicago area.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: She was 18 years old, and this was what she said.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: She shrunk her shoulders, and she said, I don't have time for that now.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: Besides, there will be plenty of time for that.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_00]: What she means?
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: She and I don't have time to go to church.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: I don't have time to listen to some preacher.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: Don't bother me about little insignificant things like my soul and God and heaven and hell.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: I've never seen God.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_00]: I've never seen heaven.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: I've never seen hell.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: I've never seen my soul.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: And don't bother me about these little things I can't see.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'm interested in what I can see.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: I can see my car.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: I can see the game.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: I can see the good timer going to have tonight.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't have time for that now.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_00]: Besides, he said there'd be plenty of time for that.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: And that same evening, while I was preaching, she was driving her car.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: She lost control of it on the icy pavement.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: It's schmecked into another car.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: And she and four others were killed instantly.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: I have a picture of this wreck.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: It shows part of her body, sprawled out on the ground, part of it hooked in the car.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: And a young lady who was only living for what she could see and only cared about.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: that present things of this life and could not get interested in her soul or in God or in heaven or in hell or in death or in judgment or the future, that very night while I was preaching she was killed and went out into eternity laws.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_00]: All right, now then you want to know what this Greek word really means, which is translated everlasting fire and everlasting punishment.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: Now, that's the same word that God uses about himself.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I'm not going to give you a whole lot of scratches, because I don't want to clarify your mind at too many here, because I want you to get one thought this morning, and that my friend is this, that hell is going to last forever.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: Now, listen very carefully.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: There are many verses, but let me just give you one.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: Roman 1626 speaks of an ever-lasting God.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: Now, how many of you folks please raise the God?
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: Let's see your hands.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: All right, how many believe that God is everlasting?
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: He always was, He always will be.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: Let's see your hand.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: No, we don't understand there, but that's true.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: Look, if there is a God, and creation proves that there is a God, the universe proves there is a God.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: Now listen, if there is a God and creation and the universe proves that there is,
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: And if God is not eternal, now he is eternal, but if he is not eternal, and if there ever was a time when there was no God, then what force brought God into existence?
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: You've been in an awful time trying to figure that one out.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: Certainly God always was.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: He always will be.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: Now listen, when God wants a Greek word to describe how long he's going to exist.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: He uses this word, Ionian.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: He was translated everlasting in Roman 1626.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: Now get this, everlasting God, everlasting God, everlasting God, from the Greek, Ionian.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_00]: So what's God doing here?
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: Listen, now get this.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: When God wants a great word to describe how long he will exist, he uses the same Greek word to describe the duration of the fire and the damnation of hell.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: That means my friend, if you die in your sins and go to hell and I hope you don't.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, how I hope you don't.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, how I hope you get in a lesson what you can't see.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, how I hope you get in a lesson, a salvation of your soul and accept Jesus Christ and get saved.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: But if you were to die in your sins and go to hell, you would be in the damn nation of hell.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_00]: They have everlasting fire of hell as long as there's a God in heaven.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: That's how long you'd be in hell.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: That's a long time.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's an awful long time.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: You say, how do you know how to be in hell as long as it's a God in heaven?
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: Because God uses the same Greek word to describe the duration of hell as the Lord Jesus used to describe the duration of the punishment and the fire of hell.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: That's how you know.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, now then, this same Greek word is used about the Holy Spirit in Hebrews 9, 14, eternal Spirit.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: It's used about the rule of Christ.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: of his kingdom, there shall be what?
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: No end.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_00]: Remember that?
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: Of his kingdom, there shall be no end.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: All right, that's plain enough.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I want Peter describes that same kingdom, which the angel said would never come down when Peter describes that same kingdom in second Peter 1111.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: He said, it's an ironious kingdom, the same Greek word again.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it was friend of mine.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: Look, if you were to die in your sins and go to hell, you would be there as long as there's a God in heaven and as long as Jesus Christ came rule.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: What a terrible thing to think about.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_00]: This same word is to find 42 times in the book of John.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_00]: And with reference to eternal life and everlasting life.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, aren't you glad everlasting life has no end?
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: If you can't everlasting life, how long would you have it?
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: As long
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: Not the long time.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: You say, you mean I can get saved today and get everlasting life and heaven as long as you're to God in heaven, you will have everlasting life as long as God exists.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: That's how long you'll have.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: And if you go to hell, you'll be in hell as long as God exists.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_00]: This same word used to about heaven.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: And Hebrews 9, 15, second Peter, five, 10 other verses.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_00]: All right, so now, if you go to heaven, how long will you be in heaven?
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: Well, bless God.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: If you go to heaven, you're gonna be in heaven as long as you're to God in heaven.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: If you go to hell, you'll be in hell as long as there's a God in heaven.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_00]: The Lord, friend of mine, if this word ionist does not mean everlasting, and without end, when the Bible talks about God, when the Bible talks about the Holy Spirit, when the Bible talks about Christ, rule, and eternal life,
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: If it doesn't mean that if the Bible means without end when God speaks about God and the Holy Spirit and the rule of Christ, then by every law of logic and Bible interpretation, it has to mean the same thing about hell, doesn't it?
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: It could mean one thing about heaven and means something else about hell.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_00]: If this, if the same Greek word is translated everlasting with reference to God as, and that same word is translated everlasting with reference to punishment and in the fires of hell, it has to mean the same thing, doesn't make any damage, what a Herbert W. Armstrong tells you.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: Doesn't make any damage, what they tell you was a, well, a pretty books, you're the big fool.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_00]: My friend, listen, if you die and you're seeing you're going to die law forever, and if you go to hell, you'll be in hell as long as you're to God in heaven.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_00]: If the Bible doesn't teach an eternal hell, then it doesn't teach an eternal God either.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_00]: See?
- 9:47[SPEAKER_00]: Then it doesn't teach an eternal spirit.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_00]: And it doesn't teach an eternal rule of Christ.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't teach eternal life.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: But since the Bible does teach, that there's an eternal God.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: And eternal heaven.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: And eternal spirit.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: And eternal rule of Christ.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: Then the Bible does teach an eternal hell.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: Or how sobering this is.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: what this ought to mean to you friends who are not saved today.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: You say, Mr, you say, brother, Paul, you mean that if I died in my sin, I would go to this place and be there forever.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_00]: That's what the Bible teaches.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: That's what we want to leave with this morning.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: That's why we need to have a revival this week.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: That's why we want to come every night.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_00]: That's why we want to pray much.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: That's why we want to witness because souls are lost and they're going to hell and they're going to be there forever.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: Imagine the fires of hell raging on as long as there's a
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: Imagine the tears in the heartbreak and the anguish in the torment and the damnation of hell lasting as long as there's a God in heaven.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_02]: Friend, you may be listening and maybe there's something that was said, give you pause.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe you'd say this issue of eternity bothers you.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe just maybe you don't know that a place called heaven.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_02]: is your eternal destination, maybe it's the other option.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_02]: The Bible tells us there are only two places to go.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_02]: Heaven or hell.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_02]: The Bible does not speak of a purgatory.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_02]: It does not speak of reincarnation, it does not speak of a soul, sleep, it does not speak of just just going back to dirt, back to dust, our physical body is may do so, but we have any eternal soul, and maybe today, this concerns you because you don't know where you're going.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_02]: It is appointed unto man once to die, but after this, the judgment, they will come
- 11:47[SPEAKER_02]: And we will not necessarily be judged by our works.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_02]: Man, it would be nice to think that you could just work your way to heaven, wouldn't it?
- 11:54[SPEAKER_02]: That we just do everything we can.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_02]: And as long as we help a senior citizens across the street, as long as we pair taxes, as long as we actually, that's not a good thought.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_02]: Because if you stacked up all of our good against all of our ill, all of our bad, we'd never be able to overcome it.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_02]: You say, Bahama, I'm a righteous person.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_02]: Here's the problem.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_02]: You're not trying to overcome the 50-50 split and just have a slight majority.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_02]: It's not even about having a super majority of good to bad.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_02]: The issue is that no bad, no sin, no ill, no wrong can enter heaven.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_02]: And each one of us has the taste of sin of mountains.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_02]: That slight stench of sulfur, because not a one of us is perfect.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_02]: It might be today that you need to come to a saving knowledge that you just Christ.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe you can't wait till tomorrow, the culmination, the last part of this message from Dr.
