- 0:40[SPEAKER_00]: Hey everybody, Brian Smith here with the item team series and your daily influence.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: And today's daily influence is going to be about smart objectives, but smart culture and how we can use smart objectives, which are commonly known as smart goals to shape a sustainable workplace.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: In other words, to create a sustainable culture.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: for us in our organizations.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_00]: And this can be really hard because sometimes our goals, for example, capitalism and making money can lean away from some of our core values on the surface.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes it's hard to reconcile
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: what some of our objectives might be to our core values.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: And it can influence our team in different ways.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: Especially as we integrate more diverse teams who have and come from different areas of influence and areas of understanding.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yet there is a way to align us and create these sustainable cultures that allow us to meet our objectives.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_00]: And you know,
- 1:49[SPEAKER_00]: The objective of businesses to make money, so there has to be some balance there.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, you could do great things like some companies do and have amazing initiatives, which can be part of your culture to give back to your communities, to give back to those places.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: We have a client that does this very well.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: We support that client and almost everything that they'll bring to us.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: And that client isn't in our backyard right here.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: They're located somewhere else yet.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: We make it part of our culture to support them.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_00]: And we do that for a lot of clients.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: But getting back to the framework for us here at the IM Team Series and an IA Business Advisors
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: Our consultancy is, you know, smart is the framework for everything that we do.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_00]: And it can be the framework for culture and objectives.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: You know, smart stands for specific measurable attainable relevant and timely.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_00]: And all of that is important in everything that we do.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: When we're smart, we provide context.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: When we're not smart, we create those gaps.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_00]: We create that division.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: We create that separation.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: And it's only through being smart with one another that we can align ourselves.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: We can align our objectives.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: We can align our core values.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: We can align the individuals within our organization.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: We can align our communication.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: And we can build our culture.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: And it doesn't matter what your core values are, smart will support it with MS framework in transitioning from goals objectives to the strategy to the tactics and the communications that is involved is really what supports the culture.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: And we believe that smart can be the framework of your culture.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: You can add your core values for us, the individual value, how we celebrate the unique contributions of every individual, not just in our organization, but that's within our area of influence and who we may influence in the future.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: We can support that through our smart framework.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: being specific, holding ourselves accountable to providing the measurements where they're needed, ensuring that what we're doing is attainable.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: And relevant, and we're doing it at the right time.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: In smart actually, we've made it a core value to be all of those things.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: And then empowerment and transformation is another one of our core values.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: And it's where we empower people through smart
- 4:27[SPEAKER_00]: to lean into their individual diverse beliefs, their individual diverse technical aspects, their behaviors, their personalities, and use them within the context of smart and our character and our culture and our core values to bring their best self.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: And we support them in becoming their best self.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: And that's where we align the individual
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: the objectives and our teams behavior with our organizational values.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_00]: And it's how we have created twenty nine years of long-term sustainability within our organization.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: How we've grown from one to many to over seventeen hundred clients around the globe.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_00]: And how do we keep it going?
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: The same exact way I like to term rinse and repeat.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: And we, the leaders.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_00]: And by the way, everybody is a leader.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: But we, the leaders, it starts with us by being consistent within that smart framework holding true to those smart principles.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: In everything we do, everything, every day within operations, within strategy, within decision making.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: And
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: When we model that, when we do that, when we not just talk about it, but when we act this way, through our actions, and it goes way beyond words, it goes way beyond goals that are somewhere else.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's a very fabric of how we move every single day, and we do this, and it has created sustainability.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: for us as an organization and for our individuals and for our clients.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: So if you want to have a long-term viable business that is sustainable through the different iterations of people, all of the different markets you may want to get into, or into that single market, find yourself a framework
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: smart or something else that you can lay your culture, lay your core values, and your mission into.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: To lift you up and support you so that your whole team understands the mission, understands the objectives, and can be locked step while still leaning on your core values.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: And you will see sustainability and success will follow you in every direction that you take.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: So I hope that you've had a good listen today on daily influence.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: And I look forward to bringing you another hopefully smart topic again very soon.
