- 0:03Welcome to Multiple Nerdgasm, a comedy show about all things
- 0:09nerdy. All right, we are here, Luke and
- 0:16Matt for episode 644 of the Multiple Nerdgasm podcast.
- 0:20And I believe witnesses listeners are waiting for your
- 0:23review of Project Kale Mary. I'll now pass the floor to Matt.
- 0:27Very formal introduction today. Thank you.
- 0:29I don't know why it's so formal. She felt like a change.
- 0:32Yeah, he's Luke. I'm Matt, and I did watch
- 0:35Project Hail Mary this week. One word review.
- 0:39Amaze. I told you you'd love it.
- 0:43Yeah, I loved it. I fucking loved it.
- 0:44It's it's one of my favorite books of the last, I don't know,
- 0:48decade. Whatever.
- 0:49Fucking great book, great movie. One of my favorite movies for
- 0:52the last decade probably. It's just just great.
- 0:55It's a it's a well, it's such a serious sort of tone, serious
- 0:59movie. It's also funny like it.
- 1:01Yes, both. That's done well.
- 1:02That's what I liked about the book, and they really captured
- 1:05it. Is that.
- 1:05Yeah, like I get. Are we going to do some slight
- 1:09spoilers, I guess? I think we can do some slight
- 1:11spoilers now because remember the rule is for movies you get 2
- 1:14weeks. How?
- 1:15Long has it been out It's. Been out like 3-4 weeks.
- 1:20All right, I'll try and. Remember, no, no, no.
- 1:22In this movie, this episode, you can skip ahead if you want to.
- 1:25Television shows, you get a week.
- 1:27Yeah, television shows you get a week.
- 1:28Movies, you get 2 weeks. That's my rule.
- 1:30Because if you really wanted to hide from spoilers, you've got
- 1:33time in that period. If you really wanted to see it
- 1:36before, I'll try to. Remember what chapter mark is in
- 1:38this episode, so you can skip this if you haven't seen it.
- 1:41But you I mean, yeah. And you should go see it.
- 1:43And also you should go see it without spoilers because so I
- 1:49thought I felt when so stunning now because I'm going to mention
- 1:53something that I think is technically a spoiler because
- 1:55it's in the trailer. And I was weirded out that they
- 1:58put Rocky in the trailers because to me, having read the
- 2:04book, I read the book when it came out in like 2021.
- 2:07I pre-ordered it because I loved these other two books and I was
- 2:11expecting more of the same kind of thing.
- 2:15And as I'm reading the book, I'm like, OK, there's a guy in a
- 2:19spaceship, you know, he's going to save the sun or whatever and
- 2:22and all of a sudden there's a fucking alien.
- 2:25And I was like, like, what the fuck?
- 2:28Like I just did not expect it. And it was such a pleasant
- 2:33surprise, I. Could see why they did that for
- 2:36for the trailer for the movie to give a better idea of what
- 2:39they're expecting cause. But Jenna saw it last night, and
- 2:43she did not know anything about it.
- 2:45Yeah. And I said to her, did you know
- 2:47Rocky's in all the trailers? She didn't watch any of the
- 2:49trailers. And she was like, really?
- 2:51That's weird. Like because she enjoyed too,
- 2:54not knowing that that was going to happen.
- 2:57I think it was good to have because as you said, it's very
- 3:01different to these other books, like it's a bit more here in
- 3:04this one. And I think for advertising
- 3:06perspective, you really want to have like this is a bit more
- 3:09fun. You want people to understand
- 3:12there's a Yeah, it's this is different.
- 3:14Yeah, this is. There's an alien in this.
- 3:16Yeah. So it's it's not The Martian.
- 3:18It's it is a very different type of movie that you're going to be
- 3:22seeing this time, which I think is fair.
- 3:23And I think it probably pulled in more of an audience because
- 3:26of that. Yeah, well, it's like a a kind
- 3:28of a buddy movie. Yeah.
- 3:28So the the main I know one of the things people wanted to know
- 3:32is what's the difference between the movie and the book.
- 3:35And honestly, it's very like true to the book.
- 3:42It just kind of lifts stuff out that was not as the the movie is
- 3:48about him and Rocky. That's the the important part of
- 3:53the book and the movie. But the book has time to do all
- 3:57this sciencey stuff that I thought was very cool and
- 4:00interesting. But I can completely understand
- 4:02why it's something because the movie's three hours long.
- 4:04Yeah, so. And if you were to go more into
- 4:06that science stuff, that turns into a four hour movie like.
- 4:09Stuff about like how the astrophage breed and how you
- 4:13know it takes him longer to figure things out.
- 4:15In the movie, he figures things out pretty quick.
- 4:18Yeah, which is fine because. I did sort of gloss over the
- 4:22astrophage a little bit and just went it's just 80 stars, don't
- 4:25worry about it. There's but I mean, there's a
- 4:27lot to that and that's one of my favorite things about it is that
- 4:29if you read the book, it's very I've seen some, there's some
- 4:33YouTube videos and articles and stuff saying you get some stuff
- 4:35wrong. And it's like, well, he wrote
- 4:38this presumably over the last I know when it came out 2021, the
- 4:43book, he wrote it over a few years before that, right.
- 4:46And he's not a astrophysicist, he's an IT guy turned author.
- 4:52He's not Arthur C Clarke. Don't expect to have.
- 4:55Yeah, he just did all his researches and like, and, and
- 4:57honestly, he it's pretty fucking close.
- 5:00And when you read the book, everything has an explanation
- 5:04like whether it's quite true or not.
- 5:07Like he's got everything covered.
- 5:08It just. And it feels so like believable.
- 5:12Yeah. So like all the stuff about the
- 5:14Astrophage and the the Petrova line and like because I thought
- 5:19they skimmed over certain things that I was like, I wonder if
- 5:24people fully comprehended that. But I guess you was there
- 5:28anything in there that you didn't quite?
- 5:29No, I understand. Yeah, I did a good.
- 5:31Job like it. I think you did, yeah.
- 5:33For the short amount of time that you really want to get into
- 5:36in depth side of that, I think they did a great job Ball.
- 5:38Yeah, I agree. Resting your story as well.
- 5:40The only thing I was like at one point he's they've got the
- 5:43breeding tanks for the astrophage.
- 5:46Yeah, towards the end, that's how they they breed it to be
- 5:50nitrogen resistant, Yes. But then I was like, did they
- 5:53discuss making those at any point?
- 5:55I don't think they did in the movie, but it doesn't matter.
- 5:57I think they sort of just, it was a mention like that I think.
- 6:01He says, oh, the that's exactly, yeah.
- 6:03He says, oh, these are the breeding tanks Rocky made.
- 6:05And I was like, yeah, oh, we didn't.
- 6:06We didn't see any of that. And didn't didn't really go into
- 6:08a lot of detail about how that like just went because he made
- 6:12it the leak happened and that's why it's bad and.
- 6:15Yeah, they made yeah. When they made nitrogen
- 6:16resistant, they also made it. What is it?
- 6:18Our goodnight. Argonaut.
- 6:20It could escape the Argonite and yeah, and it fucked up the.
- 6:24Fuel system and that was just a very quick, right.
- 6:28But it's but they, like you said, it's, it's not unclear.
- 6:32It's just like, oh, OK, and like.
- 6:34The part of that story wasn't really that part.
- 6:38It was like, yes, we need to fix that, but it was also the
- 6:40emotional part. Of yes, because the most
- 6:42important part of that is another expose for the end is
- 6:45that he knows Rocky's going to be stranded now and that's
- 6:48what's important. Yeah.
- 6:49And that's clear. Yeah.
- 6:51Yeah. And he didn't want Rocky to go
- 6:53through what he'd already been through and just be left alone.
- 6:57Yes, yeah. So my favorite bits, they do so
- 7:01well, you know, they first meet and they like, you know, they
- 7:04learn the language and like, oh, that goes on for a long time
- 7:06too. And that's all very in depth
- 7:11too, like how they swap words and like the learning language
- 7:14and stuff like that. It's just, yeah, it's really,
- 7:16the book's really good. I think they really did a good
- 7:19way of sort of haven't read the book, haven't listened to the
- 7:21book, but I think they did a good way of showing how Rocky
- 7:25learnt to really communicate because Rocky did the heavy
- 7:28lifting of that learning the language.
- 7:29Yeah, true. Grace just made a computer that
- 7:32translates the words he's saying.
- 7:33Yeah. Yeah, yeah, like rocky species
- 7:36is. Rocky has a lot of in in the
- 7:38movie. It's it's I felt like they make
- 7:41Grace seem a bit more dumb. Like there's a lot of points
- 7:44where Rocky figures stuff out on his own.
- 7:47Yes, but. There's a bit where he says I'll
- 7:51watch you sleep and he's like, no, I'm going to bed.
- 7:53And then Rocky says, I watched the other Iridians sleep for a
- 7:56long time and they didn't wake up.
- 7:58And like, Grace stops. And I was just like, oh, you
- 8:00nailed that. Yeah.
- 8:02That's brutal. All right, you can watch me
- 8:05sleep. Yeah, all.
- 8:06Right. All right.
- 8:07Got it. But that was a great movie, and
- 8:12I think the biggest spoiler was not in the trailers at all.
- 8:16No, I I know what you mean. The skip ahead if you don't want
- 8:19to hear it, the fact that he didn't want to go.
- 8:21Yeah, the fact that he was basically he was kidnapped and
- 8:25forced to go. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:28And you and Rocky think he's a hero.
- 8:31Yes. And then you learn it's way more
- 8:34complicated than that because yeah, he said no.
- 8:37And they kidnapped him, put him on the ship.
- 8:41Because he was the only one that had the knowledge and to do it
- 8:45at that stage because of other stuff that happened in movie.
- 8:47But then you feel like, no, he is a hero at the end when he
- 8:50makes the decision. But yeah, it's, it's well done
- 8:54because you see the lead up to it and and then, you know, the
- 8:57original, the original science guy dies and then they're like,
- 9:01you're going to have to do it. And he's like, he's like, I
- 9:04don't know. And you think he's like he's
- 9:07he's. Building up to.
- 9:08Building up to courage, everything.
- 9:10And then he goes, I've decided I'm not going to go.
- 9:12And then she's like. Come on here, grab him and
- 9:16they're just he makes a run for it.
- 9:18She just goes, he's running and they chase him down, inject him.
- 9:22And he was meant to go with two other astronauts, but they died
- 9:25in the induced coma, Which? Oh yeah, that's the other thing
- 9:31that's not in it that I I liked from the book, but I don't
- 9:34understand why it's not in there.
- 9:34Is that when he wakes up at the start, like the very first thing
- 9:39he wakes up and they do have this where the the robot is
- 9:43asking him questions. Yep.
- 9:45It's like, what's 2 + 2 kind of thing that goes on for longer?
- 9:49And he's like, it won't let him out of the bed until he can
- 9:52answer some basic questions and then it lets him out of the bed
- 9:55but he's not let out of the room.
- 9:57The Power Room. And then once he can answer more
- 9:59questions about, you know, various science topics and
- 10:03things like that, he has to basically prove he's able to
- 10:06function in the next section of the ship before it will let him
- 10:10into the next section of the ship.
- 10:11And then it's like 8, not it's ages until he's allowed up in
- 10:14the. Whereas in the movie it's
- 10:16basically he just falls out of bed and gets out and just and
- 10:19he's got full round. Free round of the ship, yeah,
- 10:21Which I mean, yeah, because they just need to get to.
- 10:23Rocky But in saying that, I think it's a bit unfair for him
- 10:26to go through that training because I don't I don't think he
- 10:28went through the training with the robot about how he's going
- 10:30to wake up. Yeah, that's true.
- 10:32That would have happened. Yeah, that's true, because he
- 10:34didn't know he was going to be doing that.
- 10:35Yeah, so that would have been a complete shock and very
- 10:38unnerving for waking up. And there's just.
- 10:40A Well, training wise he couldn't remember anything
- 10:43anyway, that was the point. Because that's the other thing
- 10:45that's clear in the book too. And I guess it's clear.
- 10:47I don't know if this is completely clear in the movie is
- 10:49that he's remembering that stuff, which is why you're
- 10:53seeing it when you see it. And in the book it's it's, it's
- 10:57good because what he's remembering is relevant to
- 10:59what's happening and he's kind of figuring things out as he
- 11:02goes along. And so like when he, when you
- 11:04learn in the book that he didn't want to go, he remembers that.
- 11:09And up until that point, he doesn't he he's not realizing
- 11:13that he didn't want to be there anything so.
- 11:16But no, definitely go see it, great movie.
- 11:20Loved it. I own the book Unaudible.
- 11:23Yeah, see the the Audible version, I think I'm pretty sure
- 11:26I have both. I mostly listen to Audible
- 11:29because it's got like someone doing the Rocky voice and that
- 11:33and it's just a really good, it's a good order, like a good
- 11:38listen because it's yeah. And it's got the sound effects
- 11:42like because you know when before he can understand Rocky,
- 11:44Rocky just kind of chirps. It's.
- 11:47Got that. It's like, yeah, it's a really
- 11:49good audio book for that reason. I might do it.
- 11:54You should. The author, Andy Weir, who I
- 11:59think might be a genius. It's just so clever.
- 12:04Oh, they want to adapt his other book too now, apparently, which
- 12:07I was surprised he didn't. So The Martian was very
- 12:09successful. And if you don't know this, he
- 12:12was he was working in ITI believe and wanted to be an
- 12:16author. He just had this idea for a
- 12:18story about a guy on Mars and wrote this.
- 12:23I don't know if you've seen The Martian, that's one thing.
- 12:25But if you read the book, it's similar to this.
- 12:27It's very like everything is very like, whether legitimate or
- 12:34not, science based like, it's all very like.
- 12:36And I think that he got some people calling out, like some
- 12:39because of information that came out after the movie and stuff
- 12:41like, yeah, he didn't have that information available.
- 12:44How is he meant to include that? Yeah, yes, but everything that
- 12:47happens is is based in to his knowledge and to research what
- 12:51he could understand was is actually feasible.
- 12:53And it's the same project, Tell Mary and his other book,
- 12:55Artemis. And so, but he wrote The Martian
- 12:58and nobody would publish it. All the publishers are like, no
- 13:01one's going to be interested in this.
- 13:02It's like too hard sci-fi. It's too like, yeah, it's too
- 13:08boring kind of, which is weird because it's not.
- 13:13And he self published it. He published, I think he
- 13:17published chapters of it like on Reddit or something.
- 13:19And people were like, this is sick.
- 13:21And so he self published it on Amazon and I at the time I
- 13:25believe it became the most successful self published title
- 13:29ever. He went on to do the movie and
- 13:31all that kind of stuff, and he doesn't have to split the money
- 13:33with anybody. Because.
- 13:35Because it's like that. Himself, like that whole thing
- 13:37about Twins when they wanted to make Twins and all the studios
- 13:40were like, that's fucking stupid.
- 13:41No one's going to watch that. So Arnold Schwarzenegger, fine,
- 13:46we'll pay for it. And then now they get, they
- 13:49said, they've said that's the most money they get is from that
- 13:51because they don't have to pay anyone.
- 13:53Yep, so. You want to be successful.
- 13:55He's got another book called Artemis, which is about.
- 13:58It's set in the. Moon.
- 13:59Is it about Artemis? It's in on a Moon, the moon in
- 14:04the future and and some stuff happens.
- 14:07Bad girl. And I believe, I believe it's
- 14:09supposed to be like a terrorist. It's been a long time since I
- 14:12read that one, but I remember enjoying it very much.
- 14:15And they're now talking about making a movie of that too.
- 14:18And apparently he wants Jenna Ortega to be the main character,
- 14:22which makes sense because she's in everything now, Yes.
- 14:25Well, actually, I think she's slowed down a bit.
- 14:27Yeah, you're right. There was a period there where
- 14:29it was just like. Yeah, she was everything.
- 14:32And now I forget the last thing she was actually in.
- 14:35Like, it's been a couple of years since I remember anything.
- 14:37Like Wednesday was really the last one of the screams.
- 14:41Oh, that's right. Yeah, she didn't do the newest
- 14:42scream. Yeah.
- 14:45So yeah, she sort of, she was in everything and now she's not so.
- 14:50I mean, I'm fine for her being everything.
- 14:52She's yeah, she's good. Yeah, but yeah, she did sort of
- 14:55just die off a little bit. Yeah.
- 14:59Well, no, it's actually true and I just haven't seen anything or.
- 15:02Apparently he wants her to be. Yeah, it's not decided that she
- 15:06will be or anything. It'll come down to Amazon but
- 15:09and but she's friends with Netflix.
- 15:11That's true, yeah. But does Andy Weir owe Amazon
- 15:16anything? Maybe after this?
- 15:18I think he might now. He might now.
- 15:21Well, he's in trouble this week. Andy Weir.
- 15:24Because. He interestingly went on the
- 15:29Critical Drinker podcast. Do you remember the Critical
- 15:32Drinker? Yeah.
- 15:34We've we've met their fans before.
- 15:36Yeah, his fans before. So Critical Drinker is
- 15:41controversial to a degree in that he is seemingly very right
- 15:47wing and he's very anti woke. He did a lot of stuff about Star
- 15:54Wars and Marvel and you know, all the going work go broke
- 15:59business. He's just he's been very
- 16:03critical of modern Hollywood in that regard.
- 16:08And yeah, when we did an episode about we're talking about
- 16:12Acolyte, Star Wars Acolyte, yes. And I said I liked it and that I
- 16:17thought his video was stupid and people didn't like that.
- 16:20So we got. Well, the thing that I still go
- 16:22back to that annoys me about Acolyte was the fact that people
- 16:26were complaining about lesbians in it and and it was sort of
- 16:30like, no, it's a carbon of witches.
- 16:32Yeah, yeah. So yes, that's that's what we
- 16:35have in the modern day for hundreds of years.
- 16:37That's not unusual. That's not going woke.
- 16:40That's a thing, and that's already been in the books for.
- 16:43Years, but the thing, the thing that bothered me and I remember
- 16:46this because I, I, I had seen these videos and they just like,
- 16:49oh, this happens and it's stupid.
- 16:50This happens and it's stupid. It was like these guys were
- 16:52going through these bullet lists of dumb things in a show.
- 16:54When I watched the show, I was like, oh, you just misunderstood
- 16:58what's happening. Like like for example, the fire
- 17:01in space, everyone's complaining about the fire in space.
- 17:03It's a gas leak. It would catch fire.
- 17:07Like like they were looking for things to find wrong instead of
- 17:10watching and then finding things wrong.
- 17:12Yes, yeah. But anyway, so Andy, we went on
- 17:18Critical Drinkers podcast and he said basically that new Star
- 17:25Wars apart from it's not Star Wars, new Star Trek apart from
- 17:28Strange New World. OK?
- 17:28Let me just read what he said. OK, I'll give you my opinion and
- 17:32I'm just a consumer. I like Strange New Worlds, I
- 17:34think it's pretty good. I didn't hate Enterprise, I
- 17:36thought it was kind of weird. Lower Decks I thought was
- 17:38entertaining and fun. All the others they can go.
- 17:42And here's another thing, I pitched to Star Wars show to
- 17:44Paramount and I was on Zoom with the showrunners with all the
- 17:47shows and spent a lot of time talking to Alex Kurtzman.
- 17:50I don't like a lot of the new Trek.
- 17:52He's really nice, but at the same time, these shows are shit.
- 17:55He's a nice guy, but they didn't accept my pitch, so, you know,
- 17:58fuck him. Whoa, see, Is he talking about
- 18:04enterprise as in the enterprise from decades ago?
- 18:10I think so. Because I, I didn't hate that
- 18:13either. That did take a little while to
- 18:14get into, but that's not new. That's.
- 18:18And is he talking about Voyager? A new show called Enterprise,
- 18:21right? Not that I know of.
- 18:22And is he talking about Voyager and the next Gen. and all that
- 18:25or is it just I guess I'm confused by?
- 18:28I didn't hate Enterprise. Well, I know Enterprise was
- 18:30controversial. Controversial.
- 18:32People didn't like Enterprise because didn't it turn out to be
- 18:35all fake at the end? Or was a holodeck simulation at
- 18:38the end or? Something No, that was the yeah,
- 18:40the final episode. They killed off one of the
- 18:44favourites favorite characters, you know, and it was a holodeck
- 18:48episode. It was a flashback.
- 18:51It was like had next Gen. What's, what's his name, second
- 18:56in command? Riker.
- 18:57Riker. So I had him and him, his wife,
- 19:00basically go, go and learn from this experience and go and see
- 19:03what happened during the last days of this and how so
- 19:07flashbacks to what happened. And they killed off Triple was a
- 19:10great character. And like really, I think a lot
- 19:13of people were upset by that. And it wasn't really an end to
- 19:15that episode. It was an end.
- 19:17It was, but they are talking about reviving that.
- 19:21OK. There's talk about bringing that
- 19:23back and actually bringing back the guy who played the captain.
- 19:30Oh, MacGyver. Quantum leap guy.
- 19:32Not, not. Yeah, it's got bacula.
- 19:35It's got bacula. There's talk talk about him
- 19:36coming back because he actually in the episode he goes off
- 19:39become the president of the the Space Federation, the first
- 19:44stuff, first president of space Federation.
- 19:47And there's I think there's talk of going back to that or there
- 19:50was talk of that a while ago. But yet people were upset at the
- 19:53time for the ending of that show because they grew like all these
- 19:56characters and then didn't get to see them really tie anything
- 20:00up. And then they showed off a great
- 20:01character for just right to learn something even though the
- 20:06next Gen. was over. Maybe that's what he's referring
- 20:08to then, that he he wasn't mad about that or something.
- 20:11Yeah, but it just seems like that's a that's going back a
- 20:15long ways when you're talking about strength, new worlds and
- 20:18Lower decks like they are very forefront.
- 20:22So I don't know if. He was he another point, he was
- 20:24laughing about how stuff that Academy got cancelled because he
- 20:28I guess he didn't like that either.
- 20:29And it's I mean, he's intelligent to his opinion.
- 20:31I think people have just jumped on it because he was so
- 20:33flippant. But then he's so he issued an
- 20:35apology and he said actually wrote specifically to Alex
- 20:39Kurtzman and he said, Hey, I'm sorry.
- 20:41I thought I I was clear about the fact that I think I like you
- 20:44and I have no problem with you. I was just kind of joking around
- 20:48on a podcast, you know, I'm sorry that it became such a big
- 20:51deal, which which I get, like we say, hyperbolic.
- 20:55Go here. Stuff on here I'm I'm guessing
- 20:58that's what he was intending was just.
- 21:00Yeah. Because I'm I'm reading the
- 21:02words on the page here, I didn't actually watch how he said it.
- 21:06Like if it was casual and he was just talking shit.
- 21:09Like, yeah, like. Don't know that you can.
- 21:10You're having a casual chat and he's like, like, he's a really
- 21:13nice star. I've enjoyed it.
- 21:15But at the same time, you know, I don't like them.
- 21:18They're these ones. These ones aren't for me.
- 21:19Even though he's talking about the actual one of the newest
- 21:22ones saying I really like that one.
- 21:24Yeah, yeah. You like Strange New worlds,
- 21:26which, yeah, you would agree with.
- 21:27I'll tell you, you should watch Strange New Worlds.
- 21:29I will. Feels like it's given another go
- 21:31to the original generation. It still has an overarching
- 21:34story, but is very much yeah episode to episode again.
- 21:38I'll give it another go, but yeah.
- 21:40He's been that episode. I love it.
- 21:42I think she linked to the episode.
- 21:43I didn't notice that was a link. I might, I might watch this
- 21:46actually, just because I like. Interesting.
- 21:55I like it, yeah. But so I'm interested to see
- 22:00what how the full context for this.
- 22:01But anyway, here he's given an apology and he said, you know,
- 22:04if if Kurtzman has any concerns about it, hit him up.
- 22:08You know you've got my phone number.
- 22:09Let's. But has Kurtzman actually said
- 22:11there's a problem? He has a problem with No no no
- 22:12the Internet. It's the Internet.
- 22:14Yeah, yeah, it's the Internet. So, yeah.
- 22:19So that's the big news this week.
- 22:20And I was like, Oh no, Andy, don't get cancelled.
- 22:25No, I understand why stuff like Academy didn't do well.
- 22:31Have you watched? It I didn't watch it, but I
- 22:33understand why it didn't do well.
- 22:35It's for a different audience. OK.
- 22:38It was. It was for a young adult
- 22:40audience. OK, people who don't watch Star
- 22:42Trek. Yes, and it was a spinoff of
- 22:47Star Trek Discovery, which even to me, I like Star Discovery at
- 22:51the start and then it just went weird.
- 22:54Yeah, especially when they jumped 1000 years through future
- 22:57and walk where I start work and two.
- 23:00Seasons of it. And that second season, I was
- 23:01like, I don't know, man. Like yeah not the the last
- 23:05season when they get jumped 1000 years to the future and nothing
- 23:09works. Like warp drives don't work
- 23:10anymore. So basically rebuilding
- 23:12everything from scratch and it got weird.
- 23:15Yeah, OK. I mean, Star Trek getting weird
- 23:20is fine. But it got a bit too too weird.
- 23:24I found it hard to follow along. OK, all right.
- 23:29Might be like a. Spin off that came from it and
- 23:32I'm hoping there's another spin off that comes Oh.
- 23:35Yeah, because the guy from Vampire Diaries is Kirk now.
- 23:39Kirk and he, he's a great Kirk and I wouldn't mind him spinning
- 23:43off from tragedy worlds and him taking over the Enterprise and
- 23:47that's still continuing taking over from Pike.
- 23:52All right, oh, in space Thing news, we have a release date for
- 23:58Spaceballs 2. I still can't believe this is
- 24:01coming out. I'm so excited for this. 2027
- 24:04and there is a a I've seen Rick. Moranis is back.
- 24:07Yeah, man. I didn't know he was actually
- 24:10coming back. I saw a picture the other day
- 24:12and I was like I don't know if this is real or AI garbage
- 24:17space. Because I knew there was a time,
- 24:19because I know he quit acting to basically look after his
- 24:22children. Yes.
- 24:25And his wife died. His wife died.
- 24:26His wife died, I think, and so he quit acting to look after.
- 24:29Sure. And it was a shame because his
- 24:32wife died. I think that was what happened.
- 24:33But he was a great actor. Yeah.
- 24:35Like I loved him. Yeah, he's very funny.
- 24:37And then he died. But then he he what's going to
- 24:41make a comeback? And then someone punched him in
- 24:42the face in New York. Do you remember that story?
- 24:45Yeah. It's.
- 24:45Bullshit. Yeah, some guy.
- 24:46I don't think that person even knew who he was.
- 24:48No, it was just this guy who was high on drugs or something.
- 24:51He just punched the first guy he saw and but no, him being back
- 24:55in this, I'm all in. Yeah, it's great.
- 24:58I'm excited. Yeah, I think the photo I saw
- 25:00was AI because I can't find it anywhere when you search.
- 25:03It was just on an article the other day, but.
- 25:05Brooks being back as well and filming his scenes when he was
- 25:0899. Yeah, yeah, I'm, yeah, I'm
- 25:11excited. I think whether it's whether
- 25:15it's funny or good or not, I think it's going to be fun.
- 25:19Like even if it's like the most painful fucking experience ever
- 25:22because they're all old and it's not unfunny now, I think it's
- 25:24going to be cool. Oh I still hate that the sequel
- 25:29might be called Space Force the new one.
- 25:31I think they should just go with the original Space Force.
- 25:34The search for more money. Yeah, yeah.
- 25:37Like just go back to what you're the original joke that you made
- 25:41all those years ago. Yeah, yeah.
- 25:45April 2027. So one year.
- 25:47Yeah, and I hope Mel Brooks is around to see it.
- 25:51Yeah. That's not a threat.
- 25:56Except he doesn't piss you off in the meantime.
- 25:59So around the same time we get just after we get Sonic 4.
- 26:03I still think to watch 2 and 3. Two's good, three's great.
- 26:07Yeah. Three's very good.
- 26:10The first one was great. I don't know why I haven't seen
- 26:12the others. It was.
- 26:13They were fun movies. Yeah, well, the first one was
- 26:16fun. The games are horrible now.
- 26:19I was actually playing Sonic Shadows Generations today and I
- 26:23just. We've got that too.
- 26:24I got. That I just, no, I can't play
- 26:27them anymore. Is it you or is it the game?
- 26:30Because to me, it's me. I was going to say to me it's
- 26:33just the same, but. It's the same and that's.
- 26:36Yeah, yeah. Sonic was always like, you move
- 26:40so fast and it's hard to like explore the world in a way, but
- 26:44that's the design of the game as you're supposed to.
- 26:46Get fast more it's more like that because like I see get it's
- 26:51like the hedgehog one or two my favorite games.
- 26:53I used to play them the death all the time, finished them
- 26:55multiple times over. Now with these ones, there's
- 26:59designed levels that you go and replay them and explore the
- 27:02entire levels because there's collectibles everywhere.
- 27:05And no, I just want to run to the end.
- 27:08No, there you unlock abilities. Yeah, it's it's a little bit
- 27:13Metroidvania Y. And that way is that you replay
- 27:16a level because there's a thing that you couldn't do before and
- 27:18you can do it so. Yeah, and I just.
- 27:21No, he just runs to the end and tries not to die and then fights
- 27:25the boss every third level. Well, Leah's enjoying.
- 27:29That's the Sonic I know. I.
- 27:31Mean Leah's not great at it, but she's enjoying it.
- 27:33She's learning, yeah. Doctor Robotnik.
- 27:37He's Doctor Robotnik in the movie, isn't he?
- 27:41Yes. Because I remember they tried to
- 27:43change him to egg man. He's Doctor Robotnik.
- 27:45Sonic calls him Egg Man because his drones look like eggs.
- 27:48Yep. But I remember, yeah, they did
- 27:52try that. He was egg.
- 27:52Man in Japan. Yeah, whereas we've always known
- 27:55him as Doctor Robotnik. Yeah, because I think when they
- 27:59brought Sonic to the to the West, they were like Egg, man.
- 28:02No one's going to know what the fuck that is.
- 28:06Especially because he's round. Yeah, I've got something here.
- 28:11This should actually be in follow up, I've realized now,
- 28:14but I've put it here under Movies.
- 28:17Well, update on Avatar for you Luke.
- 28:22I don't understand how they are letting him waste this money.
- 28:26Avatar four and five are full speed ahead, so.
- 28:32How are they giving him money still?
- 28:35Because I don't think 3 did make.
- 28:37Money. I mean, it made money.
- 28:39That's what matters, right? Did it make a lot though?
- 28:43I mean I. Feel like, yeah, I feel like it
- 28:46was, it was doing all right. Well, it's Avatar fire and I
- 28:53fire and ash. Box office came in at just shy
- 28:55of 1.5 billion. All right, so it's still doing
- 28:59fine. How much does it take to?
- 29:01Not as much. OK, the second film did 2.3 and
- 29:04the first did 2.9 billion. So when you look at it like
- 29:07that, it's like about half what the first film did, but it's
- 29:10still $1.5 billion, so. Yeah, it's, it's not getting the
- 29:14people aren't coming back to it anymore.
- 29:16Though, no, but I mean that's I feel like to be expected when
- 29:21you're doing a series like that, people will drop off.
- 29:24But so he's going to feel sounds like he's we've avatar four and
- 29:28five full split ahead. So he's going to fill him
- 29:29back-to-back or at the same time, maybe I.
- 29:33Don't know that we know that. I think it'd be wise to do that.
- 29:37Yes, I if I was him, I'd be. Yeah, get the money now.
- 29:41Get it? Done.
- 29:42Just get it done. If you want this fucking thing
- 29:44to happen, just do it. Because you've you've already
- 29:47dropped off a billion with the third one.
- 29:49If you drop off another billion with the 4th one, you're in
- 29:51trouble. Yeah, and they will, I'm sure.
- 29:55Like it's going to keep going down.
- 29:57People will drop off. They will.
- 29:59Well, the reason why the first one really made that money
- 30:02wasn't because of the as I've said before, it wasn't because
- 30:05we liked the movie. We, they people do.
- 30:08But yeah, it was a yeah, it was a new technology.
- 30:11It was an experience. Like I saw it in IMAX twice
- 30:15because the 3D and all that stuff was like new.
- 30:19Like I I went and saw it. And then I would tell people and
- 30:22I would take people to go, no, I'm going, I'll take you to go
- 30:25and see it and I'll go see it with you.
- 30:27Like it was, it was an excitement.
- 30:30And it was the first time 3D was done.
- 30:33Well, yeah. And then everything became 3D
- 30:36and it was horrible again. Yeah, but that there's a
- 30:39difference between filming it in 3D, which some movies still do.
- 30:43There's a difference between filming in 3D and then, you
- 30:47know, making it 3D later. Yeah, I, I think.
- 30:50And at the time it was everything had to have a 3D.
- 30:54Yeah, but they just took it a movie that just tried normally
- 30:57and then put it. People just made it 3D in a
- 30:59computer and it's not quite the same thing.
- 31:02Doesn't look the same. No.
- 31:06You'll be pleased to know you can watch more of it.
- 31:09I will go and see it when it's out and I'll let you know.
- 31:12I probably won't. I'll I'll say I'll watch it when
- 31:15it comes out and I won't because I've got two I've got to catch
- 31:17up on now and I'm. Yeah, you can.
- 31:19Honestly, you can skip the third one.
- 31:22All right, maybe I will. You can watch the second one.
- 31:26When the 4th 1 comes out, I'll give you 5 minutes to watch the
- 31:29third one and you're caught up. All right, new trailers, Masters
- 31:37of the Universe. Yeah, I'm still I'm.
- 31:40Still skeptical on. This I'm I don't know.
- 31:42I don't know. It does seem like a family movie
- 31:45though. And yeah, we don't really get
- 31:48family movies anymore. It does look like, yeah, like an
- 31:5380s style family movie, Yeah, which makes sense because, you
- 31:58know, But yeah, I don't know if it's for me.
- 32:02No, and I think your daughter's probably too young for it.
- 32:06I. Don't know if she'd be
- 32:06interested in it. Yeah, unless Shira makes an
- 32:10appearance, because that was the big thing.
- 32:12The boys had he man. The girls had Shira back in the
- 32:1580s. Doesn't seem to bother too much
- 32:17like Sykes. Sykes boy.
- 32:18Oh, I guess he's a hedgehog so doesn't count.
- 32:22She likes Sonic and Shadow. But if you heard the rumor that
- 32:25the reason what I think he man was cancelled was because of
- 32:29Shira. No.
- 32:32So the rumour is that he man was out there and he had all these
- 32:34young boys running around going I have the power and play
- 32:37finding everything. And then Shearer came along as
- 32:40his cousin had also had the power.
- 32:42So then all these boys had the little sisters also going I have
- 32:45the power and the boys went. Well, this isn't as fun.
- 32:48I don't want to play that anymore because I can't just
- 32:50beat up on my little sister anymore because.
- 32:52And that's sort of where it sort of tampered off, didn't her?
- 32:56Sword turn into a whip. She kind of had cool shit going
- 32:59on that he man didn't too. Shira Princess?
- 33:05Is she in the new? I've never watched the the.
- 33:09News man. No, neither have I.
- 33:12I've heard Kevin Smith did it right.
- 33:14Yes. Shira, Princess of power, I
- 33:17swear her sword turned into a whip.
- 33:23I it's been 30 years, I don't remember.
- 33:27But anyway, so the Mass Universe trailer looks fine, yeah.
- 33:34I just don't know. I'm not going to go to the
- 33:36movies and see it unless it comes out and everyone's like
- 33:39losing their shit of how good it is.
- 33:41Maybe I'll go just to see it, but.
- 33:43I'll probably go just because I'm bored.
- 33:45Sure. And.
- 33:47I'll let you know, but yeah, I'm not expecting it to be.
- 33:51Yeah. Oh my God, you have to see this.
- 33:53I think it's going to be a yeah. Well, and the other one that I
- 33:57was I, I expected to be more excited about this than I am is
- 34:02Supergirl. I watched the Supergirl trailer
- 34:04and I was like, OK, it just looks like.
- 34:07I haven't seen it yet. All right, to me it looks like a
- 34:12lot of other stuff that's just already been done.
- 34:15It looks like a smush together of Guardians of the Galaxy and
- 34:17some of the some of the other DC stuff like the.
- 34:20Flash yeah, with her at the end of Superman, it does look like
- 34:24she's just going to be like the fun one liners and completely
- 34:28and. Yes, to me it looks like it
- 34:31looks a lot like Guardians of the Galaxy in Yeah, feel like
- 34:35even like the some of the sets I was like, even though I know
- 34:37that they're not real because they're probably blue screen or
- 34:39green screen, but like I was like, that just looks like
- 34:42Guardians of the Galaxy to me. Which hopefully it's good
- 34:48because this is the second one in his new DCU universe, so and
- 34:53he. Didn't even direct it.
- 34:54So it's not like it's not like saying James Gunn just did the
- 34:56same thing. He didn't direct it.
- 34:58He. Didn't direct it, but he still
- 34:59has a lot of control. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 35:02But I don't know, just I watched this and I was like, OK, it
- 35:06doesn't look particularly interesting to me.
- 35:10Which it's a shame because that's, yeah, like her, the
- 35:13second big one that's meant to be leading off into the new
- 35:16world and. I'm I'm sure it's competent and
- 35:20fine, it just didn't excite me so.
- 35:23Well, she is a girl, so that's good.
- 35:27Yeah, sure. Yeah, I think she's either she's
- 35:32Australian or she lives in Sydney, Right.
- 35:34OK. What's her name?
- 35:37What is her name? I don't actually know her name
- 35:39her. Name is Millie Alcock.
- 35:43Let me check. Let me factory Alcock.
- 35:45I know she lives in Sydney because I saw a video where she
- 35:49was doing a tour of her mum's house.
- 35:51Yeah, she's Australian. OK.
- 35:53Yeah, OK. And I thought, I want.
- 35:55That's strange that she's giving a tour of her mum's house.
- 35:58Was she not as famous when she did that video?
- 36:00Because I feel like you wouldn't do that when you're about to be
- 36:03Supergirl. Well, it seems like she's done
- 36:05like a few little things, and then her big thing was in the
- 36:09House of Dragons, so. The dragon.
- 36:11Sorry. The House of the Dragon sort of
- 36:12fall up to Game of Thrones seems to be her big breakout.
- 36:18What else? Did she do?
- 36:22She did, reckoning the school. Wait, I watched that familias.
- 36:29Huh. Is she in that?
- 36:32I know she's been in a fair bit. She sure wasn't.
- 36:34But no, it's all like late late 2000s.
- 36:37Yeah, there you go. I guess I've seen your other
- 36:40stuff. Didn't even realise.
- 36:42That's cool. Anyway, I'm sure it's fine.
- 36:46Yeah, I'm sure James Gunn knows what he's doing.
- 36:50Yeah, still just love how he got the job.
- 36:55Got fired and then got rehired and had two jobs.
- 36:58Yep. Yeah, love that.
- 37:00Like got fired and just got paid millions of dollars because of
- 37:02it and then got hired back and paid millions more.
- 37:05Yeah, what a life it's. But honestly, the best case
- 37:08scenario for yeah, for something like that.
- 37:12Well, what a horrible knee jerk reaction at the time.
- 37:15Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Like on the one hand, I can sort
- 37:19of understand why they did it, but then they didn't need to
- 37:22jump in so quickly. No, because obviously it turned
- 37:25around you. Sometimes you shouldn't give
- 37:27into the Internet as quickly. Yes, because the Internet write.
- 37:30Down and see what happens. Yeah, the Internet, well, has a
- 37:33long memory. It also has a short memory at
- 37:35the same time, yeah. Yeah, who was recently?
- 37:40Something happened recently and I was like, whoever it was was
- 37:45just keeping quiet about it. Yeah.
- 37:48Oh, oh, the Alan Richardson thing.
- 37:51He just didn't say anything for a long time until and then, I
- 37:54mean, he, it's a little different because it's not like
- 37:56a he wasn't going to, he wasn't making inappropriate jokes or
- 38:00anything like that. He was punching somebody.
- 38:03But but he had, he had, he had the receipts to show.
- 38:07Yep, man, he wasn't kept quiet about it, didn't go on the fancy
- 38:11for defensive, just kept his mouth shut and then went, oh,
- 38:13I'm going to just release this now.
- 38:15Yeah. Yeah, yeah, that's a smart move
- 38:18if you've got the footage, yes, prove that you didn't do it.
- 38:21Yeah, you need those receipts to back yourself up.
- 38:23And yeah, that guy was an idiot. I don't know what he.
- 38:25I think honestly think he was just trying to get gold money.
- 38:27I. Think was a scam?
- 38:28Yeah, yeah, a scam. Because like he walked out in
- 38:31front of him twice, he was on the bike and we think it's to
- 38:35get. Clear from the actual GoPro
- 38:37footage, He wanted Alan Richardson to punch him.
- 38:41Yeah. On camera so that he could
- 38:42extort him. That's what I think, yeah,
- 38:44that's. What I think Dak fired big time.
- 38:47Yes, because he got punched and he got no money.
- 38:50Yeah. And there's no way to police are
- 38:54going to go after Alan because Alan did nothing wrong for what
- 38:58I can see, like he. No, I mean, you know, he didn't
- 39:00need to punch him, but the guy was punching him.
- 39:02So what are you? You know, whatever this article.
- 39:07Got a lot worse. Yes, this article made me laugh.
- 39:11This is just a quick thing apparently.
- 39:15The the new Fast and Furious, the last one apparently.
- 39:18It's going to be like the last one ever apparently.
- 39:21I I called bullshit. Yeah, we'll see.
- 39:25Vin Diesel announced it recently at an event and last June at
- 39:32Fuel Fest in Tampa. No, wait, this is.
- 39:35Sorry, this is the story was told at Fuel Fest in Tampa this
- 39:40week. When the fuck did Vin announce
- 39:41this last June, anyway? Yeah, they were doing some event
- 39:47and Universal had not agreed to do this movie.
- 39:52Yeah, it was all still like still just conceptual.
- 39:56And they were did this big event last year.
- 39:58And then, apparently, Vin Diesel said to Paul Walker's brother
- 40:01backstage. I'm going to announce the new
- 40:04movie. And he was like, I thought that
- 40:05wasn't approved yet. He goes, well, it will be once I
- 40:07announce it. So he went out on stage and he
- 40:11said, I want to announce that we're doing another Fast and
- 40:13Furious movie. The crowd went crazy.
- 40:14Everyone went nuts. And then the studio was like,
- 40:17well, I guess we're doing it. Now, well, that has backfired
- 40:20before. I know.
- 40:22Star Trek 4, when they announced, hey, we're making the
- 40:25new Star Trek and everyone's coming back and no one had
- 40:28signed up for it. There was no script, no,
- 40:30nothing, hadn't been greedily and they just went, yeah,
- 40:32everyone's going back and we're making it.
- 40:33And then that went nowhere. Yeah, well, that was the studio,
- 40:36though. This is just one of the actors
- 40:39being like, I know what'll force their hand.
- 40:41Yeah, almost. And I.
- 40:43But also. It's a power move.
- 40:45That's also what Nathan Fillion's doing at the moment.
- 40:48That's true. Yeah, maybe he's a Vin Diesel
- 40:50fan. Yep, you saw what Vin Diesel did
- 40:52and I think he may have done it better.
- 40:54Nathan Fillion may have done it a bit better, though.
- 40:56Yeah, I mean people in the comments are saying it's not
- 41:01wasn't a huge risk. No.
- 41:03Because they probably work in a green light the movie, but it
- 41:08still it isn't, it's just. AI also don't think it's going
- 41:11to be their last one. Those movies still just print
- 41:13money for them, don't they? I think so, yeah.
- 41:17God, they got increasingly ridiculous.
- 41:19I, I, I liked them up to a point and then now I'm like, no.
- 41:26Didn't it start off as like a cop going undercover to break up
- 41:30a like a underground drag racing thing?
- 41:33Uh. No, in underground drag racing
- 41:35it was they were stealing. Umm.
- 41:38TV's and VCRS from trucks. All the trucks are moving.
- 41:41That's what happened at the start of the movie.
- 41:44And now, haven't they been to space at some point or if I've
- 41:48mentioned that? No, I think you might be right.
- 41:51The the one the last one I watched it was so stupid but I
- 41:54really enjoyed it was the James Wan directed?
- 41:56It was the one where maybe it's like 7 where they'd like jump a
- 42:00car from one skyscraper to another.
- 42:02Oh yes. And it's like, fucking hell.
- 42:06And the one where that's the one with Michelle, we're doing his
- 42:08fights for Ronda Rousey, which is just very funny to me.
- 42:12Yeah, silly movies. Yeah, well, we'll, you'll get to
- 42:17watch it. It's fast, forever.
- 42:18It's officially coming March 2028.
- 42:22Oh yeah, and that was the one with the Rock, where the Rock's
- 42:25in hospital and he's got the big cast on his arm and then the.
- 42:29This is Oh yeah. Attacking the city and he stands
- 42:31there, he's got the window and his daughter goes, what are you
- 42:33doing, daddy? And he's like.
- 42:34I got to go to work and he. Flexes in the cast, explains off
- 42:37his arm. Like.
- 42:40Incredible. Yes, that don't mean the bones
- 42:42in your arm are fixed. Like you can't flex that much,
- 42:47just flex off to put them back into place.
- 42:49The doctors are like Mr. The Rock Please.
- 42:54Classic. But like intentionally so.
- 43:00Like it knew that it was stupid. That's that's what I liked about
- 43:03it. But I think like, I think the
- 43:05the most expensive part is just getting all those actors in now.
- 43:08Yeah, probably. Most of them are so big now.
- 43:10Same with Marvel and and whatnot.
- 43:12You were talking actually last night, not last night, a couple
- 43:14of nights ago about TV shows and how I guess a problem they have
- 43:18now is when ATV show's really successful, the the actors in it
- 43:23become really successful and they become too busy for you to
- 43:27make any more of the TV show. And people complain that like
- 43:29we're talking and that and, and budget wise and and whatnot.
- 43:32Things are just different now we're talking about Severance.
- 43:36Season 3 of Severance hasn't even been filmed yet, let alone
- 43:41coming out soon. Whereas it used to be, you know,
- 43:44every year you get a new. Season yeah and I think that's
- 43:46actually what killed season 2 suffered for me because I just
- 43:50had sort of forgotten season too long in between and yeah had no
- 43:54and it's. Probably another year before we
- 43:56get season 3 for sure. Yeah.
- 43:58And then because I was saying, I wonder if this silo, which has
- 44:03been very successful, Rebecca Ferguson's obviously a huge
- 44:05star, they shot Season 3 and Season 4 of that at the same
- 44:10time already. Yep, and excellent.
- 44:13Yeah. So I guess they'll release those
- 44:15over the. Next, because I'm looking
- 44:16forward to three and four you've.
- 44:17Just got to get it done while you've got a kind of thing.
- 44:19Two lost me a little bit. It got really back.
- 44:22I liked it, lost me a little bit.
- 44:24Yeah, but I like the it's based on a series of books.
- 44:28It's gone an ending. Yes.
- 44:30It's like, I've not read the books, but as I understand it,
- 44:34this they're popular, so I'm assuming it goes somewhere.
- 44:37You know what I mean? It's not like lost or something
- 44:39where it's like they don't know where they're going.
- 44:42But also with that last scene at the end, it does feel like it's
- 44:44just been turning into Fallout. Yeah, yeah, I suppose.
- 44:51So I finished watching Fallout this week.
- 44:53I gotta watch season 2, I keep forgetting.
- 44:55About it just finished, loved it.
- 44:56Was good, Yeah, OK. Yep.
- 44:59No enjoyed it, still good. Looking forward to Season 3.
- 45:02Oh good, I'll watch it. We've got some space news that I
- 45:08wanted to talk about. Did you watch the launch?
- 45:10The Artemis launch. Did you watch it?
- 45:11I watched it. Of course I did.
- 45:13Oh. God, I'm so.
- 45:14Excited for this? Got my watched it with Lyra.
- 45:17She's very excited because she's never seen.
- 45:20She's seen kind of knows what it looks like when a rocket takes
- 45:22off. But I was like, this is life.
- 45:24This is right now and. This is like. 10s of 98 she she
- 45:27was going 1098 and I was like, this is great.
- 45:30And this is like the biggest rocket we have at the moment.
- 45:33Like, this thing is. Yeah.
- 45:35And we're going further than humankind has ever been before.
- 45:40Yeah. And I was explaining to her
- 45:42like, this is really important. She's like, why is it important?
- 45:44And we've said, are they going to the moon?
- 45:45And she was like, yeah, But like, and she's like, yeah,
- 45:48people have been to the moon. I'm like, I'm like, yeah, I know
- 45:50that. But honey, no one has been to
- 45:52the moon while I've been alive. Boy so.
- 45:55This is exciting for me. So we've got this launch.
- 45:58So I think they're about halfway through their trip at the
- 46:01moment. Artemis 4 is 2028, right?
- 46:03And that's. The one they actually stand for,
- 46:05yes. I think Artemis 3.
- 46:07They're I think they're still landing on the moon.
- 46:10Right. But they're not.
- 46:12They're not. There's no humans on that one.
- 46:15I think it's testing the. Lander and whatnot.
- 46:17No, because remember this is all leading up to the building a
- 46:20base on the moon. Yeah, yeah.
- 46:22Like this isn't just a. Because I think.
- 46:25It's just pick up some rocks. This is the first time humans
- 46:29have gone up on this rocket, yes.
- 46:32Like so it was a little like, is this going to be OK, like.
- 46:37Well, they had to restart, they thought a couple times, didn't
- 46:39they? Yeah, I think so, yeah.
- 46:40Yeah, because I had AI think there was a night tradition leak
- 46:43at some stage and and the second that 10 minutes starts and they
- 46:47flick over the battery, if they have to restart again, they have
- 46:50to recharge the batteries all over again to get them to fall.
- 46:53Yep. Yep.
- 46:56But all successful, just great. And, and so just a couple
- 47:02updates I've put in the show notes.
- 47:03They launched, everything went great, flawless.
- 47:07They are as of a couple of days ago now on their way to the
- 47:12moon. There's no possibility of them
- 47:15coming back unless they complete the mission like if something
- 47:18goes wrong now. Because I had to go around the
- 47:20earth once or twice. Yes, I had to do a loop and like
- 47:23slingshot out there. Yeah.
- 47:25And they're on their way now if something goes wrong now.
- 47:29That that, that's it. They.
- 47:30Have no way to retrieve them. They are on their way to the
- 47:33moon. And they will be the first
- 47:35people to ever die in space. Yeah.
- 47:38Which we do not want. No.
- 47:41However, the last update is that everything is going great, so
- 47:46that's good. So it seems like it seems
- 47:49unlikely. But you never know.
- 47:52But it does seem, yeah, let's just yeah, hopefully it just
- 47:56come back because I don't want them dying is the only I'm
- 48:02trying to say a joke because if they die, they're going to push
- 48:06back everything else. Sure, That's not the only reason
- 48:09I don't want them to die. I don't also don't want them to
- 48:12die but it will push launchers and yeah.
- 48:19Look, it's not threatening the Artemis 2 astronauts.
- 48:22I am not 4, 4, actually. Oh, no, he's out of us two.
- 48:27Yeah. Yeah, I thought he's out of us
- 48:28two. No, there's four.
- 48:29There's three Americans and the Canadian.
- 48:31Yeah. And the first woman that's.
- 48:33Right. Yeah, first woman to the moon
- 48:38area. Yeah, to to the moon, ish.
- 48:40Because they're not landing, they're just going around it.
- 48:42They're flying around the other side of it, which is pretty
- 48:44fucking cool anyway, Oh my God. And some of the have you seen
- 48:46the photos that they've sent back?
- 48:48No, not yet. Oh my God, they're fucking sick.
- 48:51So I didn't put these in here, but I'll.
- 48:54I'm pretty sure I'll be able to find them.
- 48:56Yeah, just look up like photos of Earth from Artemis 2.
- 49:01They've got these, they've got DSLRs up there with them, and
- 49:03they've just been taking photos. And that's just.
- 49:06It's a bit boring while he's waiting.
- 49:08Because I guess, like, you know, no one's done this since the.
- 49:13The 70s. 70s, seventies, sixties, 70s, yeah, 70s.
- 49:16So you know they're going to send back some sick photos.
- 49:20Yeah, I don't think we've been like even if you look at like
- 49:23the ITS that seems just in low earth all but that's not
- 49:26actually that far away. Like this is the first time
- 49:28we're actually going to real space.
- 49:32Yeah, look up. Yeah, there's an article that's
- 49:34on this is on the New York Times, but it's got his photos.
- 49:36Yeah, I'm just start them now. I'm just.
- 49:38Yeah, they're just. It's just fucking incredible.
- 49:41Like, yeah. Flat earthers are not having a
- 49:45good time with this. I believe it's fake, yes.
- 49:48Yeah, we haven't faked a moon landing since the 70s, so.
- 49:51Yeah, Yep. They claim that there's actually
- 49:54no one on that rocket that that should still fake.
- 49:57And some people still believe it just because it curves off.
- 50:00They believe that just they just splash into the ocean and.
- 50:04Right. I think the thing that gives
- 50:07them makes them think a lot of this is remember there was a
- 50:10movie Capricorn 1. Yep, in the 70s.
- 50:13A lot of them think that's based on a true story.
- 50:15Yeah, it's based on a conspiracy theory, yes.
- 50:19I mean, it's a good movie, but yeah, and for.
- 50:22Those who don't know what Capricorn money is, so basically
- 50:25they are there's a launch that's meant to be going, I think to
- 50:28the moon. They notice that there there may
- 50:32be an issue with the rocket, so they don't want to stop the
- 50:35launch, but they take all the astronauts and put them away and
- 50:38sort of keep them away from everyone.
- 50:40And then the launch goes wrong. It blows up and then it's about
- 50:43these astronauts trying to escape because they're now being
- 50:46kidnapped and not under return because everyone thinks they're
- 50:49dead. Yeah, it's a good movie.
- 50:52Yeah, and that came out in the 70s and I.
- 50:54Remember, someone gets bitten by a rattlesnake or almost gets
- 50:58bitten by a rattlesnake. Yeah, because they're in the
- 51:00desert and. You got to watch it again.
- 51:01It's. Been a long time.
- 51:03The 80s, there's too much to watch now.
- 51:06Definitely 80s. You'd see stuff like that that
- 51:08came out 10 years ago and you'd rewatch Movies Now.
- 51:12Yeah, I don't have time to rewatch movies.
- 51:13I've got to watch all the ones I haven't watched yet.
- 51:15Yeah. Oh, I watched another season 2
- 51:20today as well. Oh, go on.
- 51:22Deadlock. Do you remember Deadlock?
- 51:25I don't think so. It was a.
- 51:28It was a show, it's an Australian TV show, it's on
- 51:32Amazon and it was set. The first season was set in
- 51:35Tasmania and it's about the serial killer who's killing all
- 51:39these men in a town full of lesbians.
- 51:41I've. Not seen this show What the?
- 51:48Fuck and then the season 2 just came out this week and it's
- 51:50about the same 2 cops being up in Darwin A.
- 51:54Town of lesbians? Yes.
- 51:58I didn't even know there were towns of lesbians.
- 52:01Well, I thought there are a lot of lesbians there.
- 52:04OK, OK. Oh yeah, I'm looking at it now.
- 52:08Yeah. No, I've never seen this.
- 52:10I, I actually enjoyed it. I actually enjoyed the the
- 52:12second season as well. Yeah, OK, Jenna might have
- 52:18watched this at some. Point Matt Dan watched it and
- 52:20enjoyed it. Yeah.
- 52:22Yep, all right and I recommend it.
- 52:25I enjoyed it and I also enjoyed the second season.
- 52:28All right, I'll add it to the long list of things that I
- 52:32should try. And make catching up on stuff
- 52:33this weekend because I've got a long weekend.
- 52:36Of course it's Easter. Yeah, Yeah, I get a long weekend
- 52:38here. Yeah, I know.
- 52:40It's weird. Yeah, I was always surprised by
- 52:43that. When?
- 52:44I moved. I would have.
- 52:45Thought America would do all the religious holidays.
- 52:47They don't. No, the only religious holiday
- 52:49you get over there is Christmas. Yeah, we only get Christmas Day.
- 52:52Yeah, whereas straight no Easter, you get Easter Friday,
- 52:56Easter Monday. They're both public holidays.
- 52:59Like we do Easter. Like, yeah, but you just do the
- 53:03Easter Monday, but you don't get the day off.
- 53:04But. Yeah.
- 53:05No, I don't get any time off, no.
- 53:07No. Very strange.
- 53:08And you don't get Boxing Day. Nope, they.
- 53:12Don't know what that is. No, they're having in Canada.
- 53:17Huh. Yeah, interesting.
- 53:20But I think that becomes because they're part of the
- 53:22Commonwealth, maybe it's just a Commonwealth thing that we have,
- 53:24yeah. All the holidays here are non
- 53:27religious like the. Federal the military ones and.
- 53:30Yeah, apart from Christmas, but like, I think Christmas is
- 53:33barely a religious holiday anymore.
- 53:34Anyway, no, just give me my presents.
- 53:38Yep, by myself. Good luck to the NASA
- 53:43astronauts. Yes, wait a minute.
- 53:48I've just noticed because it's not quite after party time, but
- 53:52I've just noticed I've obviously not put enough candidates for
- 53:56Geek of the Weekend because. There's only one more.
- 53:59Yeah, I'm sure I do. We'll figure that out later.
- 54:01Now is not the time. I don't know of anyone who's
- 54:03died. Did you see Lord and Savior
- 54:07Jesus Christ? Jesus Christ?
- 54:08Oh. That's that's of course, yes.
- 54:10Oh, so you think some of these people will rise from the dead
- 54:13on Monday? Possibly, yeah, We'll see that
- 54:15time of the year. Anything could happen.
- 54:19Did you see Anthropic accidentally pushed all the code
- 54:27for Claude code? You what Claude code is, I'm
- 54:29sure. Isn't that one of the AIS?
- 54:32Claude, yeah, Claude code is anthropics so so everyone knows
- 54:37ChatGPT, ChatGPT is made by open AI, Claude is made by anthropic.
- 54:41That's kind of their version of that.
- 54:43It's like AI thing. And there's they have a tool
- 54:45called Claude code, which it is like a programming assistant or
- 54:50select assistant that just fucking does it.
- 54:51If you want it to this programming tool and you say I'm
- 54:55trying to make a, you know, a file, you know I'm trying to
- 54:59make an app that does this. Oh, it's all that vibe coding
- 55:02stuff. Yes, exactly.
- 55:04Yes, yes, it's exactly that. Like it won't do it all for or
- 55:08couldn't do a lot for you. No, it can do it all for you,
- 55:10but you shouldn't. But like, you shouldn't because
- 55:13it's gonna not run well. It's gonna make some stupid
- 55:16decisions. And and if you don't know what
- 55:19you're doing, you won't know when it's made a stupid
- 55:21decision. So yeah, that's the problem is
- 55:23that we've had people have found like some guy made an app from
- 55:30scratch, apparently using Claude code, vibe code and the whole
- 55:33thing. He doesn't know.
- 55:34He's not a programmer, he doesn't know anything.
- 55:35He managed to get this thing up and running, made a website, got
- 55:37customers because he. Land Stripe gets against all
- 55:40their usernames and passwords and credit card information.
- 55:43It's just stored in a word doc or something the.
- 55:44Secret keys for his Stripe account, which is how you charge
- 55:47people money. It put the secret keys in the
- 55:51front end code. You could just view the source
- 55:53on the website and you get the stripe keys.
- 55:55And so they stole thousands of dollars from his customers.
- 55:59Hackers. Hackers.
- 56:00You didn't even have to hack. You did.
- 56:02They're right there. Yeah.
- 56:04I could find it. And it's all because he wasn't
- 56:09specific enough when he was making the app.
- 56:12And it doesn't, it doesn't know. It's not a fucking bug, you
- 56:16know. It doesn't care about that type
- 56:18of stuff if. He had asked hey, the Stripe
- 56:21keys in the front end code and it it probably would have said,
- 56:24Oh yeah, they are actually, yeah, yeah, right here.
- 56:26He didn't ask so it just did it anyway.
- 56:31So they. Pushed the photos and stuff.
- 56:33No, Claude can't do that. Actually Claude is Claude is
- 56:40considered better. Like I don't know what exactly
- 56:44the metric is but Claude as a as a chat bot, just the talking
- 56:48back and forth and asking it questions and and stuff.
- 56:51Claude at the moment is considered to be superior than
- 56:53ChatGPT. But they don't have image
- 56:56generation. They don't have.
- 56:58Oh, that's, that's the thing I'm sort of quite happy about
- 57:00because if that leaked, then it's going to be very easy for
- 57:05people to take that code and then just know all that stuff
- 57:08about children and sure, like just just don't worry about any
- 57:12of that stuff. Yeah, yeah.
- 57:14So what happened is that they somebody anthropic and then the
- 57:17jokes were did somebody anthropic do this or did Claude
- 57:20do it? Somebody vibe coding and it just
- 57:23pushed all this shit up. Well, they wouldn't be told to
- 57:25use it I'm guessing there. They pushed up a technical
- 57:31reason that this was bad, but basically they pushed up a way
- 57:35that you could, you know, when you, you kind of compile a
- 57:41program and you put up like the compilation.
- 57:43So people look at the code doesn't, you can't really figure
- 57:45out what it is like. It's, it's like compiled.
- 57:50They pushed up the code in a way that people could get to the
- 57:54original support basically. People who trying.
- 57:56To keep it simple. Don't need the vibe code.
- 57:59Anybody and and within within minutes, because because it's
- 58:03the Internet, people noticed and there are copies of it grabbed
- 58:06and so all the code for Claude code would became available on
- 58:10online, which is very bad for them because yeah.
- 58:12Because that's was their business.
- 58:15Right. And not only that, the most
- 58:17interesting thing I think about it is that the code reveals
- 58:21features that they hadn't announced and some of them are
- 58:26are a little pretty interesting. There's one a thing called
- 58:31Kairos, which is it just runs on your computer even when you're
- 58:36not using clawed code. And it would review what things
- 58:41that needed to be done just in the background so that when you
- 58:44open clawed code, it would be like, it knows, oh, we need to
- 58:47look at this, we need to do that kind of thing.
- 58:51And there was one, what is this? Undercover buddy, which was like
- 58:57a little buddy thing. Undercover buddy.
- 59:02Undercover buddy. Yeah, right.
- 59:04Undercover. Yeah.
- 59:07So buddies are like a little creature that sits there while
- 59:09you're coding and, like, talks to you.
- 59:12That's fun. But there's one here.
- 59:14The undercover mode was controver.
- 59:18People. I keep saying controversial.
- 59:21It's apparently this feature that's designed for when people
- 59:25from anthropic employees, I believe, are working on open
- 59:29source projects. Open source is like like a
- 59:31community project kind of thing. And a lot of the community open
- 59:36source projects don't want you to use AI because they don't
- 59:39trust it, right? And it's creating a lot of load
- 59:42on them. So like basically you have this
- 59:43project like something like, I'm trying to keep it simple.
- 59:51So do you know what Apache is? It's the web server.
- 59:53Like it's the, it's how websites work, right?
- 59:56It's an open source project. So people write other, you know,
- 59:59you can write code for it if you want to, you want to fix bugs or
- 1:00:01whatever, anyone can contribute. But the problem they're having
- 1:00:04now is because of Claude code and all these tools, everybody's
- 1:00:07having a go, but they're not actually doing it.
- 1:00:09They're having these. AI tools.
- 1:00:12Playing a little bit, see. Write some shit and then they
- 1:00:14put in a request and say here's the code, it's called a pull
- 1:00:16request. But you you make some changes
- 1:00:19and you make a pull request and you say, here's my changes and
- 1:00:21someone has to review those. Yeah, and they're getting a lot
- 1:00:24more of just useless. Thousands and thousands and
- 1:00:26thousands of shit because people are using these tools.
- 1:00:29So it's a big problem at the moment for open source projects
- 1:00:32and a lot of them are saying like we were absolutely, if we,
- 1:00:37we'll even suspect you used AI, we're just not even going to
- 1:00:39look at it. We just don't have time for this
- 1:00:40shit. And so this thing undercover
- 1:00:43mode is for anthropic employees to contribute to public open
- 1:00:48source projects. And it's designed to hide the
- 1:00:52fact that they used Claude code by pretending to be a human,
- 1:00:57even though it's creating the pull requests and everything.
- 1:00:59See that's. Scum.
- 1:01:02It's pretty bad. It's it's explicitly tells the
- 1:01:05system commits. Should never include the phrase
- 1:01:07Claude code or any mention that you are an AI.
- 1:01:11Yeah, that that that's actively going around and yeah.
- 1:01:17That's just like, yeah, it's not good.
- 1:01:23Because whether the code is good or not, if they're saying we
- 1:01:27don't want you to use any AI tools, yeah, you should.
- 1:01:31Just don't. Don't.
- 1:01:32Yeah. So there's just a believe the
- 1:01:37amount of crap they're just getting from people who have no
- 1:01:39idea what they're doing. Yeah, it's like genuinely a
- 1:01:43massive problem. Like there's been projects that
- 1:01:44have just said we're shutting down, like public access to
- 1:01:48create these. It's just too much.
- 1:01:50Yep. Because.
- 1:01:52There's getting too much. There's too much reliance with
- 1:01:55AI far too quickly. Yes, I think these tools are
- 1:02:00useful if you know what you're doing because they do do dumb
- 1:02:04stuff. Like I've played with them.
- 1:02:06I used to. I was a magenta developer for a
- 1:02:09long time and I tried out GitHub copilot at one point, but it
- 1:02:15just makes stuff up like like you go, this was back before.
- 1:02:20I mean, this is a long time ago now, probably GitHub copilot
- 1:02:24first came out. It couldn't actually do any
- 1:02:25code. You could just ask it questions.
- 1:02:27And I would say, oh, I'm, I'm looking for a way to do this.
- 1:02:30What's your suggestion? And it would go, oh, you just
- 1:02:32need to modify this file. And I'm like, yeah, my file
- 1:02:35doesn't exist. And then it's like, oh, you're
- 1:02:37right, I did made that up. But how about this?
- 1:02:40File there. Yeah, it might have done
- 1:02:42something. How about this file?
- 1:02:43And I'm like, my file doesn't exist either.
- 1:02:44And then slowly I was like, you're fucking useless mate.
- 1:02:47It's like it doesn't know anything.
- 1:02:49I've played around with Copal like creating some agents and
- 1:02:52stuff just like chat bots essentially.
- 1:02:54And it's going to like read from this data.
- 1:02:56If someone asks a question, give a quick answer from that
- 1:02:58question like from this, this specific data like don't make
- 1:03:02anything up. I just played around with like
- 1:03:05how it responded, like I want you to respond like this
- 1:03:09person's a complete and utter idiot.
- 1:03:11And talk down to them, yeah. And it does.
- 1:03:14It's a bit of fun just mucking around with stuff like that.
- 1:03:16And it's a bit of fun. And I can see how that would be
- 1:03:18useful to some people just to yeah, to get rid of those a lot
- 1:03:22better tasks. Like the code stuff has gotten a
- 1:03:24lot better and the other thing I use it, I do use it.
- 1:03:28One of the things it's really good for is if you need test
- 1:03:30data. Like for example, I was working
- 1:03:32on something at work and I needed CSV file full of zip
- 1:03:36codes and the suburbs that they represented US, specifically New
- 1:03:40England zip codes and suburbs. And it would have been kind of a
- 1:03:44pain in the arse for me to make that right.
- 1:03:47Because if copy paste or whatever, I don't know, I hope I
- 1:03:49would have done it. It would have been kind of a
- 1:03:50pain in the ass. But like thought possible, would
- 1:03:52have taken forever but no no, just been a bit of a pain.
- 1:03:55Yeah, it's a minor inconvenience, like, right.
- 1:03:57Whereas I was able to just go open Claude and say give me a
- 1:04:01CSV file of random New England zip codes and the suburbs and it
- 1:04:05just spits it out two seconds. Done like.
- 1:04:08That's really handy. Yes, like and if.
- 1:04:13If it wasn't exactly right, it's still helping with the testing.
- 1:04:17Actually, yes, exactly. For my purposes, if it wasn't
- 1:04:20exactly right, that would have been good because it would have
- 1:04:23triggered my error handling. So yes, yeah.
- 1:04:26Exactly. You may have had a zip code come
- 1:04:28in that's three numbers instead of what you got 5 or something.
- 1:04:32Yeah, exactly 5. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:33Or if the zip code didn't match the the county, we wouldn't say.
- 1:04:36So yeah, we say county, but well then yeah, but because that's
- 1:04:40the thing, the kind of things I need to be checking for, yes, in
- 1:04:44my inner application. So because.
- 1:04:45People, if you're in your tester, you don't just test to
- 1:04:48make sure it works. You've got a test that also
- 1:04:50doesn't work. Yes, that's why it becomes more
- 1:04:52important. That's why I've asked you to
- 1:04:54test something that I made, yes, because I know that you're good
- 1:04:57at that. Because you should always do a
- 1:04:59positive and a negative test. If you get code written and
- 1:05:03someone does one test for you, fire them.
- 1:05:05They are a useless tester. I always say too, depending on
- 1:05:10the size of the team, I think somebody other than the
- 1:05:13developer should test. Because I know if I make
- 1:05:19something I know how to make it work and I will not think of
- 1:05:22things that a normal person would.
- 1:05:25Because when I I have no like ability to be impartial about
- 1:05:31it. Like when I say something I
- 1:05:32made, I instantly know how it works.
- 1:05:35I'm not confused about anything because I made it.
- 1:05:37Whereas a user will do some strange thing that I didn't
- 1:05:41think of because they just don't know how it works.
- 1:05:43That's why, like when I was a tester, I'd have fights with
- 1:05:45developers because I'd go back and raise like a ticket.
- 1:05:47Like this isn't working. They go, well, you're doing it
- 1:05:49wrong and I went. Well, it should be.
- 1:05:51Clear. I'm pretending to be a user.
- 1:05:53Yeah, I've done this and it's done this.
- 1:05:56We shouldn't be getting to that. That is a problem you.
- 1:05:59Have to allow for and people who do the wrong thing.
- 1:06:02Yes. Yeah, 100%.
- 1:06:06Anyway, Claude code code is out. There, it's all yours.
- 1:06:09Go for it. Yeah, I mean, not that you could
- 1:06:12do much with it. It needs the Claude back end,
- 1:06:15which yes, you know, I think it's interesting you can run.
- 1:06:18So these coding agents are very they're very cool.
- 1:06:21They're much better than, you know, what I was talking about
- 1:06:23with Co GitHub copilot a long time ago.
- 1:06:26They are very good. They've gotten a lot better and
- 1:06:29they continue. You have these things now called
- 1:06:31MCP servers where I mean you've had this for a while, but what
- 1:06:35you can basically you can do is if you work in a certain
- 1:06:38framework, you can now publish guidelines for these AI tools to
- 1:06:45to refer to. And then you run a little server
- 1:06:47and it can connect to that. And then if it wants, if you ask
- 1:06:51it to do something, it can check with that server and say what,
- 1:06:55how's, how am I supposed to do this in this framework?
- 1:06:58It's like it's all very, it's moving very fast.
- 1:07:00Let's say yes, there's all these things are happening and it's
- 1:07:03just like, fuck, all right. Yeah, it's going very fast, but
- 1:07:07as long as people remember it's to help, not to do it.
- 1:07:11You always need a human to check it.
- 1:07:13I think you definitely need a human to do code review.
- 1:07:15And that's actually, we're talking about this like,
- 1:07:17honestly, the as a senior developer, one of the most
- 1:07:21boring things usually is code review.
- 1:07:23Yeah. Like it's just not the
- 1:07:25interesting part of the job. No.
- 1:07:26And if people keep saying, oh, these, you know, these agents
- 1:07:31will do all the coding and you'll just do the reviews, it's
- 1:07:32just like, fuck. All right, that's the worst
- 1:07:35part. Exactly.
- 1:07:36My job's just going to become the most boring part of my job,
- 1:07:39like is reviewing other people's code.
- 1:07:41It's not even people, it's just like machines spitting out shit
- 1:07:44and I've got to go through. And it's like it's harder too,
- 1:07:47because when I review people's code, I trust them.
- 1:07:51Yeah. So whereas with this thing I
- 1:07:54don't. So I'm going to be more
- 1:07:56attention. Exactly.
- 1:07:57I'm going to be like, like, I'll kind of like skim code from
- 1:08:00certain people at work because I know like I know they're
- 1:08:04competent. Whereas with this thing it's
- 1:08:06like. Yeah, you have no idea what it's
- 1:08:09going to try and do and throw in just extra lines that are going
- 1:08:12to take up extra processing for nothing.
- 1:08:15Yeah, like why the fuck did you do that?
- 1:08:16And then and then if. You think it'll still work, but.
- 1:08:20And then if you ask, that's the the things they're so funny.
- 1:08:22Like, yeah, if you say why'd you do it that way, it'll go, oh,
- 1:08:24you're right, that was stupid. It's like, well, just do it and
- 1:08:27try it. The first let's do.
- 1:08:28That don't do it in a stupid way.
- 1:08:31Yeah, yes, All right. Fuck.
- 1:08:38All right. We've been way over time, Yeah.
- 1:08:40Babbling about AI stuff. We really did.
- 1:08:43We should get away from AI. Sorry, I would be passionate
- 1:08:45about it at the moment. I don't.
- 1:08:47Mind about it? I I I so am I I've I've gotten
- 1:08:51more used to it than I was at the start.
- 1:08:53I was completely against it now but now I'm starting to see the
- 1:08:56benefits of it. But still people yeah, to rely
- 1:09:00solely on it and you hear like the cases of lawyers who go to
- 1:09:03chat chief PT and go do this case file for me and then
- 1:09:08because we just made-up court cases as a support you yeah.
- 1:09:14Yeah, and I do still, you know, like the concern about, you
- 1:09:20know, generating art and music. And I'm happy to see it's
- 1:09:26annoying with like songs and stuff but they're still getting
- 1:09:30played on Spotify and stuff. But I'm happy that the courts
- 1:09:33are gone. You don't get any copyright for
- 1:09:35any of this. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:36But the courts have come down very strong.
- 1:09:38Like you generate FAI, there is no copyright you're getting for
- 1:09:42images, video, songs because you just typed some stuff in you
- 1:09:48didn't actually create. And like, you know, I use it for
- 1:09:52the thumbnails. Not always.
- 1:09:56Well, actually, you know what? I didn't use it last week.
- 1:09:58I don't, I shouldn't say not always.
- 1:09:59I can't recall if I've how many times I've used it.
- 1:10:02I do use it because it enables me to make a funny image that
- 1:10:07the truth is we just wouldn't have that image.
- 1:10:10It's not like, and like, 'cause I know, you know, oh, we could
- 1:10:14pay an artist to make them, but we wouldn't.
- 1:10:17We don't have the resources to do that.
- 1:10:18Making money to do that. Exactly.
- 1:10:21So the the alternative, so the options are like I can use AI to
- 1:10:24make a funny image, or I could just do something that I can do
- 1:10:28which I don't have a lot of time.
- 1:10:30So it's it's just not going to be as good, right?
- 1:10:33It's just the reality of it. Either I do it or AI does it.
- 1:10:36That's that's the reality of it. Yeah, you're not taking away
- 1:10:39because, yeah, we've not got the money to pay anyone anyway.
- 1:10:42Right. But but then I'm also, I'm like,
- 1:10:45well, is that a good argument? I don't know.
- 1:10:47I guess I don't know. It's it is a tough thing, but
- 1:10:53for everyone out there, the video, the pictures you see,
- 1:10:56they're not copyrighted. Go crazy.
- 1:10:57You can steal them. Yeah, that's true.
- 1:10:59Yeah, as that photo of you as Grogu and Yep.
- 1:11:03But sorry, legally distinct. I when I when I tried to do
- 1:11:06that, I said, can you make Luke and I like the Mandalorian
- 1:11:10Grogo. And it was like, I can't do
- 1:11:12that. I was like, oh, OK, can you make
- 1:11:14Luke and I an alien and a bounty hunter from the future?
- 1:11:17And it was like, yeah, I was like, thanks.
- 1:11:20And it just. And it made it The Mandalorian.
- 1:11:22Yeah. I didn't even I didn't tell it
- 1:11:24to do that. It just.
- 1:11:25It fucking knows. Yeah, and it's.
- 1:11:28It knew what I was up to. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:11:33Anyway, but you know where we should go now.
- 1:11:36Where's that? We should go to the after party
- 1:11:38and continue talking there. We.
- 1:11:39Should go to the after party. I'm going to find these missing
- 1:11:41gigs of the week so that we can talk about them in the after
- 1:11:43party. What's the after party?
- 1:11:44After party where we're going to continue talking for who knows
- 1:11:47how long this week, a week, so it might be a while.
- 1:11:50All right, cool. Might not be, but we're going to
- 1:11:53continue talking. But to get to that, you do need
- 1:11:56done for. Well, not unfortunately.
- 1:11:57You need to pay us. Unfortunately, unfortunately for
- 1:12:00us. You could pay.
- 1:12:01So you need to get to patreon.com/multiple Orgasm.
- 1:12:05You can join up for nothing, get access to a Discord for as
- 1:12:08little as $1.00 a month. You get the episodes early, but
- 1:12:11for $5 a month is where you get the after party.
- 1:12:13And not only do you get like if you join up today, you're not
- 1:12:17only going to get this after party, you get every single
- 1:12:19after party we've ever done. And there are hundreds.
- 1:12:23And that's like some other places that will only give you
- 1:12:26what you signed up for. You can download them, they're
- 1:12:29yours. Keep him, listen to him.
- 1:12:33Yep. I mean share this outline what
- 1:12:35we sent might not ago. Maybe people will like it and
- 1:12:37they'll listen to the show. We're happy, yeah.
- 1:12:38Happy, yeah. Do whatever.
- 1:12:41That's all for this week. Thank you for listening and we
- 1:12:44hope you enjoyed the show. If you enjoyed it then please
- 1:12:49subscribe and items to receive episodes automatically.
- 1:12:53We'll see you next time.
