Latest / Johnjay & Rich On Demand / STACKS and HACKS: This is for you, procrastinators.
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, it's time for stacks and hacks. I have stacks
- 0:04Speaker 1: of information. Rich has life hacks. This is very, very
- 0:06Speaker 1: important information. According to a report, the most popular beer
- 0:10Speaker 1: in America, Michelob Ultra.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Really?
- 0:14Speaker 1: The least popular beer is Milwaukee's Best Ice. Beer drinkers,
- 0:19Speaker 1: according to new research, smoking. actually leads to increased loneliness.
- 0:24Speaker 1: So you actually do become lonelier over time as a smoker.
- 0:27Speaker 1: I get it. I think it's because there's more people
- 0:28Speaker 1: that aren't smokers.
- 0:29Speaker 2: That would make sense.
- 0:30Speaker 1: So they stay away from you.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Sitting there all by yourself outside of your building, just smoking, pacing.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Get this. A contemporary art exhibition took an unexpected turn
- 0:40Speaker 1: last week when an art collector offered $ 4, 000. She saw
- 0:44Speaker 1: some art. I want that piece. That's $ 4, 000. I'll give
- 0:48Speaker 1: you $ 4, 000 for it. Turned out it was a broken
- 0:51Speaker 1: vacuum cleaner from the janitorial staff on the corner. It
- 0:55Speaker 1: wasn't even a piece of art.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Did they sell it? I'm sure they sold it. That
- 0:57Speaker 2: would be embarrassing.
- 0:58Speaker 1: I'm not sure if this is going to turn into
- 1:01Speaker 1: a Disney movie or not, but 101 cats were found
- 1:03Speaker 1: inside a home in Washington State. 101 cats. Oh, my gosh.
- 1:07Speaker 2: In one house?
- 1:08Speaker 1: Yeah, some hoarder. No way.
- 1:09Speaker 2: That smells good in there.
- 1:11Speaker 1: I'm going to call this Unfortunate Ways to Die number one.
- 1:15Speaker 1: A man who just celebrated his 40th year wedding anniversary
- 1:18Speaker 1: and retirement passed away in a freak car accident involving
- 1:22Speaker 1: 10 feral hogs.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Oh, what? Yeah.
- 1:26Speaker 1: He must have crashed into them and they must have
- 1:28Speaker 1: something like that and he died.
- 1:29Speaker 2: That's sad.
- 1:29Speaker 1: I'm going to call this Unfortunate Ways to Die number two.
- 1:32Speaker 1: A 43-year-old influencer died after undergoing... junk enlargement surgery in Thailand.
- 1:39Speaker 1: I saw that on Instagram trending. Yeah, I saw that.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Right? Yeah. And he was like with his fiance like
- 1:44Speaker 2: on a trip. I know. Just like enjoying.
- 1:46Speaker 1: That's so scary. And this sounds bad what I'm about
- 1:49Speaker 1: to tell you. In fact, I went and had sushi
- 1:52Speaker 1: the other night after reading this story. Scientists found parasites
- 1:56Speaker 1: in almost every fish from a recent tuna hole. 96%
- 2:01Speaker 1: of the tuna was infected.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Are you kidding me? You know, my friend refuses to
- 2:06Speaker 2: eat sushi anymore.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Because of that? Yeah. I saw that survey. I brought
- 2:11Speaker 1: it up at dinner with my friends, and they, two
- 2:13Speaker 1: of them still, well, his wife wouldn't eat sushi, but
- 2:15Speaker 1: we still did.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Doesn't that why they bring out the wasabi and the
- 2:18Speaker 2: ginger to kill some of the bacteria? I don't know.
- 2:20Speaker 2: That's what that's kind of originally for.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Okay, so we have officially entered the BRR months, September, October, November, December.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:31Speaker 1: So a post on social media is going viral because
- 2:33Speaker 1: I guess these last four months of the year, the
- 2:35Speaker 1: end of the day is like 30, 31, 30, and
- 2:37Speaker 1: 31 days, right? So it's difficult to keep track for
- 2:40Speaker 1: some people, they say. So a post on social media
- 2:42Speaker 1: is going viral where someone says, it's kind of dumb
- 2:45Speaker 1: that months are different lengths. 365 should be divided into
- 2:49Speaker 1: five equal months of 73 days each. February, April, August, October,
- 2:57Speaker 1: and December.
- 2:57Speaker 2: That's everything we're looking for. I can't get down with that.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Millions of people saw the post. It attracted 40,000 likes
- 3:03Speaker 1: and comments and more if you just count the accounts
- 3:06Speaker 1: that are sharing it.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Yeah, why are we doing stuff stupid? Do it smart
- 3:08Speaker 2: like that.
- 3:08Speaker 1: I figure if Trump can go ahead and change Lake
- 3:10Speaker 1: Ontario to Lake America and to Gulf America, maybe he
- 3:13Speaker 1: can shorten up the years a little bit. Isn't that
- 3:15Speaker 1: wild that it's going viral like that? What do you
- 3:17Speaker 1: have for life hacks?
- 3:18Speaker 2: You're right. It doesn't make sense. Well, yeah, this is
- 3:20Speaker 2: for procrastinators because a lot of people say, I would
- 3:23Speaker 2: love to get to your life hacks, but I just
- 3:25Speaker 2: don't feel like it because I'm a procrastinator. So here
- 3:28Speaker 2: is a good midweek thing for you. Now, if you
- 3:31Speaker 2: see you've got a huge pile of work in front
- 3:32Speaker 2: of you and you're doing everything except actually starting it,
- 3:35Speaker 2: the four-minute rule. Do you guys know what the four-minute
- 3:37Speaker 2: rule is? Set your little alarm on your clock for
- 3:40Speaker 2: four minutes. Then you just start procrastinating. something like open
- 3:45Speaker 2: the document, make the call, start cleaning, whatever it is,
- 3:48Speaker 2: and say in four minutes, I'm going to stop because
- 3:51Speaker 2: the trick is starting is often the hardest part. Once
- 3:53Speaker 2: you're four minutes in, you've pretty much broken through the
- 3:55Speaker 2: procrastination wall and it's a whole lot easier to keep going.
- 3:59Speaker 2: You're probably going to decide to keep on going unless
- 4:02Speaker 2: of course you just stop, which is, you know, your
- 4:03Speaker 2: prerogative too. And if you want to start reading your
- 4:06Speaker 2: life hack and stopping right in the middle of it,
- 4:08Speaker 2: we will post it at johnjandrich.com.
