- 0:03Speaker 1: We welcome into Off the Bench presented by All Star Toyota.
- 0:07Speaker 2: You're scary.
- 0:08Speaker 1: We're bringing into Spool Sports Talking so with Jacob Hester
- 0:15Speaker 1: and Terrify Terrible live from the Haunts It Studio. Here's
- 0:23Speaker 1: Jacob Hester and.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Yo and welcome in to O t B here live
- 0:41Speaker 3: from the Raising Kine Studio. Jake Flynn Elandra Tate here
- 0:45Speaker 3: with you, and there is no delay.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Let's go. Let's just jump right into skipped and jump
- 0:54Speaker 2: right in.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Well, I'm just letting y'all know the yo's were because
- 0:58Speaker 3: of the performance in the field on SAT. Saturday more
- 1:01Speaker 3: than anything, which we'll certainly get to a lot obviously,
- 1:07Speaker 3: to get to over the last I would say twenty
- 1:13Speaker 3: four thirty six, whatever number you want to put on there.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Obviously a lot has happened. LSU has fired Brian Kelly,
- 1:20Speaker 3: and we'll dive into it all. We will get into
- 1:23Speaker 3: all the nitty gritty how do we get here? Where
- 1:25Speaker 3: you at right now? Where do you go in the future.
- 1:30Speaker 3: If you were in the stadium on Saturday.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Night, maybe you're not surprised.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Maybe you're not surprised by the actions of LSU on Sunday.
- 1:37Speaker 3: To let Brian Kelly go that was as embarrassing of
- 1:42Speaker 3: a loss as I can certainly remember. We were talking
- 1:45Speaker 3: in studio here right before we hopped on and there's
- 1:48Speaker 3: been some moments where it's been tough. Tayte mentioned when
- 1:53Speaker 3: you lost to Troy there, I'm like, yeah, that one
- 1:55Speaker 3: still is not as bad. I remember being on the
- 1:58Speaker 3: sideline for the tech Ball where you had thirty nine
- 2:01Speaker 3: scholarship players and you got a receiver playing quarterback. Although
- 2:04Speaker 3: Chew Breeze went out there pretty well, it was still like,
- 2:08Speaker 3: this is pretty embarrassing. That Saturday night was the most
- 2:14Speaker 3: embarrassing I think that I've ever been associated with.
- 2:19Speaker 2: To have the.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Lead, to give up the lead, to get punch in
- 2:23Speaker 3: the mouth and just have that game spiral, and then
- 2:26Speaker 3: everything that happened after the game, and them, as you
- 2:30Speaker 3: put it, Matt, basically dancing on your grave after game
- 2:34Speaker 3: they did that. That was all a step too far,
- 2:38Speaker 3: and you knew something was going to happen.
- 2:41Speaker 4: Yeah, there's there's one thing about there's one way to
- 2:45Speaker 4: get beat in the game, right, there's another way to
- 2:48Speaker 4: kind of get embarrassed. And the second half we got
- 2:52Speaker 4: embarrassed the second half, and then they did they danced
- 2:54Speaker 4: on the grave, they dunked on you after the game,
- 2:57Speaker 4: and the optics.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Behind it certainly pissed a lot of LSU fans.
- 3:03Speaker 4: Off A and M fans taking over the student section
- 3:08Speaker 4: than doing their Texas A and M. You know whatever
- 3:11Speaker 4: warhead whatever it is, and they and they sway back
- 3:13Speaker 4: and forth, the quarterback talking about that they weren't nervous
- 3:17Speaker 4: the entire time during the game, and they said, you know,
- 3:19Speaker 4: Death Valley waswhelming, underwhelming, their coach saying it the great
- 3:26Speaker 4: Tommy Moffatt and them getting a revenge game and you know,
- 3:29Speaker 4: taking which they should have taken pictures on the eye
- 3:31Speaker 4: of the Tiger Lake. They turned Tiger Stadium into their
- 3:35Speaker 4: home field. And if you're the man in charge, that
- 3:39Speaker 4: falls on your shoulders, it is your fault. So they
- 3:45Speaker 4: had enough. Obviously donors had enough. That was a big question, right,
- 3:48Speaker 4: I mean we all. I don't know if anybody really
- 3:50Speaker 4: thought that this type of move would be able to happen.
- 3:56Speaker 4: This from the there's a dollar incent there's a business
- 3:58Speaker 4: side of this. There's people that have to take money
- 4:01Speaker 4: out of their pocket for this, and it's a lot
- 4:04Speaker 4: of it. It's a lot of Keisha and so it
- 4:07Speaker 4: was this big question, could it happen? Would it happened? Well,
- 4:11Speaker 4: you just got embarrassed on your home field. You haven't
- 4:15Speaker 4: been fun to watch leading up to this. The people
- 4:20Speaker 4: were disgruntled, people were waiting for something. And then when
- 4:23Speaker 4: that happens the way it did, the antics on the
- 4:28Speaker 4: sideline of you know, undressing your assistant coaches, yelling fo
- 4:35Speaker 4: like like all that stuff that none of it looked good, right,
- 4:38Speaker 4: and then people just said enough is enough. They got
- 4:41Speaker 4: together and of course, like this show, we're gonna kind
- 4:44Speaker 4: of talk break break all that down.
- 4:46Speaker 2: There's a lot of rumors. This might be a rumor show.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Who knows what it is.
- 4:49Speaker 4: We're gonna vent you with the facts that come out
- 4:51Speaker 4: and that we do have. But you know, a lot
- 4:53Speaker 4: of it's speculation, a lot of it speculative. Right now,
- 4:55Speaker 4: we don't know what. We don't know at this point
- 4:57Speaker 4: in time because everything is so fresh. I do know
- 5:00Speaker 4: that Brian Kelly has been relieved of his duties.
- 5:03Speaker 3: Yeah, and the last two years, and there's so many
- 5:06Speaker 3: different ways that we're going to attack this today. And
- 5:08Speaker 3: Taytay said, yeah, maybe at some point, maybe we get
- 5:11Speaker 3: to the Saints. I mean probably, I mean that performance.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Who cares at this point? But you got like the
- 5:19Speaker 3: last two years, A and M has beaten you sixty
- 5:23Speaker 3: six to thirteen in the second half. I'll say that again,
- 5:26Speaker 3: just for those that haven't heard that, sixty six points
- 5:30Speaker 3: for the Aggies to thirteen by LSU in the second half.
- 5:33Speaker 3: You've led them at halftime the last two years and
- 5:36Speaker 3: lost because it was sixty six to thirteen in the
- 5:40Speaker 3: second half.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Like, those are things that can't happen.
- 5:42Speaker 3: Also, Matt talked about him yelling at the assistant coaches
- 5:47Speaker 3: on the sideline seat. Some of that I don't get
- 5:50Speaker 3: to see because I'm calling the game and I'm on
- 5:51Speaker 3: the radio. So like I went back and I watched
- 5:55Speaker 3: a TV copy this week this weekend, of course we
- 5:58Speaker 3: watch a coaches copy.
- 5:59Speaker 2: You don't see that on the coaches like it's raw.
- 6:01Speaker 3: So I went back in and I kind of watched
- 6:03Speaker 3: some of that and some of the questions like what
- 6:05Speaker 3: are we doing, why are we doing this? How do
- 6:07Speaker 3: you not know what you're doing? How do you not
- 6:11Speaker 3: know how this is the outcome? Like that that was
- 6:13Speaker 3: troublesome to me. Again, like I don't get a chance
- 6:16Speaker 3: to see this and so because I'm either calling the
- 6:18Speaker 3: game or I'm watching coaches tape. But when I see that,
- 6:21Speaker 3: and then it was my wife, she's like, that's kind
- 6:24Speaker 3: of every game. It was like every game, She's like,
- 6:25Speaker 3: every game, like, that's troublesome. Like, this is your team.
- 6:29Speaker 3: You're the leader in charge. This is your offensive coordinator,
- 6:32Speaker 3: this is your defense coordinator, this is your special teams coordinator.
- 6:35Speaker 3: You should know what's going to happen before it happens,
- 6:38Speaker 3: Like when a play's called, like you should know the
- 6:40Speaker 3: outcome because you know everything that's going on within the program.
- 6:46Speaker 4: Yeah, as the head coach at your job to be
- 6:48Speaker 4: familiarized with every single intricate detail of every play call
- 6:52Speaker 4: and understand what the concept is. So like where we
- 6:56Speaker 4: are certainly not lip readers, but it's pretty.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Easy to let read out there.
- 7:01Speaker 4: And when you are asking continuously asking what are we
- 7:05Speaker 4: doing here? Why are we calling that? You can't call
- 7:08Speaker 4: that in that situation, like you have the final say
- 7:11Speaker 4: of everything.
- 7:13Speaker 2: So that's why there was his his head on the
- 7:16Speaker 2: chopping block.
- 7:17Speaker 4: I mean he has the overall save everything, but like look,
- 7:20Speaker 4: I mean the antics on the sideline. It just it's
- 7:23Speaker 4: a terrible look for not only your program, but let's
- 7:28Speaker 4: talk about the individual players watching it too. Yeah, at
- 7:30Speaker 4: the end of those players, of course, Like there's like
- 7:33Speaker 4: coaches are gonna yell at players. Fine, whatever, there's a
- 7:36Speaker 4: way to do it, there's a way not to do it.
- 7:38Speaker 4: There's always needs to be mutual respect between that. But
- 7:41Speaker 4: you that's part of being a coach. You have to
- 7:44Speaker 4: know what works for players. You got to know them.
- 7:46Speaker 4: There's a time and a place for everything. But I
- 7:49Speaker 4: don't know if I've really ever seen a head coach
- 7:52Speaker 4: in the face.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Of assistant coaches as much as I've seen it.
- 7:56Speaker 4: Maybe if tempers flair every like once in a while, Yeah,
- 8:00Speaker 4: but usually it's they're getting after on the headsets, like
- 8:03Speaker 4: talking to each other on the headsets, and they're not
- 8:04Speaker 4: making a display of it. Yeah, it looked it was
- 8:07Speaker 4: really obvious that it was what just happened. I don't
- 8:12Speaker 4: know what just happened. I'm confused that why we did
- 8:15Speaker 4: something or why we called something. I didn't step in
- 8:18Speaker 4: to stop it. Now I need to go make sure
- 8:22Speaker 4: that other person knows I'm blaming him for it. Yeah,
- 8:25Speaker 4: And I don't know if he like had the peripherals
- 8:27Speaker 4: of saying like I need to make sure everybody else
- 8:29Speaker 4: knows it was somebody else's fault or what by that's.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Sure what it seemed like to me.
- 8:35Speaker 3: Yeah, Charles says and said the Body four chat, saving
- 8:38Speaker 3: yodic coaches. Yeah, when I talk about like yelling at coaches,
- 8:40Speaker 3: it's the what are we doing?
- 8:42Speaker 2: Why are we doing this?
- 8:43Speaker 3: It was also like the things that were being said
- 8:46Speaker 3: that we're talking about. Yeah, at least for me, like
- 8:48Speaker 3: viewing that and it's like, what are we doing? We
- 8:50Speaker 3: can't do that on third and whatever with no timeout?
- 8:52Speaker 3: It's okay, well one like and we'll get there. Trust
- 8:56Speaker 3: me when I say we'll get there. The game breakdown
- 8:58Speaker 3: of Texas A and M because again what the hell?
- 9:01Speaker 3: But like as soon as that comes in as the
- 9:04Speaker 3: head coach, it's like no, no, no, no, no no no,
- 9:08Speaker 3: I know this offense as well as you do as well.
- 9:10Speaker 2: That's no next.
- 9:11Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, Saving yells at his coaches like some.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Would yell at his coaches too.
- 9:19Speaker 3: It was like for the individual on the field that
- 9:22Speaker 3: messed up, right, it would just yell at their position coach.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Right. It wasn't like what are you doing? Like, don't
- 9:28Speaker 2: call it like this is? It was let's call it
- 9:34Speaker 2: what it is, too like some people can.
- 9:36Speaker 4: If you do it naturally, you come off pretty all right,
- 9:39Speaker 4: it looks natural. If you do it in a fake way,
- 9:42Speaker 4: it comes off as a fake way, like you're trying
- 9:44Speaker 4: to make a statement, like there's a way that like
- 9:47Speaker 4: some people, like some people are are look cool when
- 9:50Speaker 4: they use curse words. Some people just try too hard, right,
- 9:54Speaker 4: it seems like this is one of those situations like
- 9:55Speaker 4: I'm gonna yell to yell because I'm trying to pass
- 9:58Speaker 4: off blame here.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Well, I guess the buck stopped here. So there's gonna
- 10:03Speaker 2: be a lot of talk of.
- 10:06Speaker 3: What went wrong, and eventually we'll get to maybe what
- 10:09Speaker 3: the future looks like.
- 10:12Speaker 2: And I know, look, this.
- 10:13Speaker 4: Is gonna be a lot of speculation. I mean, this
- 10:15Speaker 4: isn't like, oh for sure, we don't we don't know facts.
- 10:18Speaker 4: They don't have facts, And like I said, it'll trickle
- 10:20Speaker 4: in throughout the day and we'll present them as they
- 10:24Speaker 4: pop up. But a lot of it's just gonna be
- 10:25Speaker 4: speculative and kind of talking about what's gonna what the
- 10:28Speaker 4: next step.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Is and and look, this is how this works.
- 10:32Speaker 3: There's gonna be a lot of rumors and I was
- 10:34Speaker 3: telling y'all, like at nine am yesterday I had had UH, ESPN,
- 10:38Speaker 3: Yahoo on three, every somebody from those like hues, and
- 10:45Speaker 3: it was like I was like, guys, I'm just trying
- 10:46Speaker 3: to get ready for these ten U flag football playoff games.
- 10:49Speaker 3: I'm trying to jump onto trampoline with my daughter. Can
- 10:52Speaker 3: y'all let this rest? But like, that's how this works.
- 10:55Speaker 3: And I only bring it up to say, like, over
- 10:57Speaker 3: the next days and weeks, that's how it's going to work,
- 10:59Speaker 3: and those guys are gonna find it out.
- 11:00Speaker 2: We'll have that information and we'll give it to you,
- 11:03Speaker 2: so we'll.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Talk about the future, and we'll speculate on maybe which
- 11:07Speaker 3: direction you go on here and more. And certainly in
- 11:09Speaker 3: the first hour, it's more of what went wrong, what
- 11:12Speaker 3: did not go right?
- 11:14Speaker 2: And you know, the.
- 11:15Speaker 3: More that you start to peel back the layers and
- 11:18Speaker 3: you start to look at uh, you know, some of
- 11:20Speaker 3: the conversation, a lot of the conversation has been this
- 11:22Speaker 3: isn't new, it's been over the last gosh two years,
- 11:26Speaker 3: two and a half years.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Is fit and this doesn't fit and that doesn't fit.
- 11:31Speaker 3: And I do wonder, like I understand that part of
- 11:35Speaker 3: the conversation, but like more than just like not a fit,
- 11:40Speaker 3: it's not he's not you know this, that and the other.
- 11:45Speaker 3: The thing that like as you peel back the layers is.
- 11:51Speaker 2: There wasn't the.
- 11:52Speaker 3: Buy in to what you have to do to be
- 11:56Speaker 3: LSU and win national championships.
- 11:59Speaker 2: So it's not.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Necessarily about fit, Like that's that's not the conversation.
- 12:05Speaker 2: That's a subjective term, Like like what does that mean?
- 12:08Speaker 2: You don't have to people say you can't. No one
- 12:10Speaker 2: can put a finger.
- 12:11Speaker 3: On it, right, You don't have to be somebody that
- 12:13Speaker 3: graduated necessarily from LSU or from Louisiana, because we have
- 12:18Speaker 3: seen others come here and buy in and love this
- 12:21Speaker 3: place and you know, endear themselves to the fans and
- 12:25Speaker 3: give you every single thing that they had to make
- 12:28Speaker 3: sure they didn't disappoint you. And that's one of the
- 12:32Speaker 3: things that you didn't see here, Like it wasn't the
- 12:36Speaker 3: and I'm not saying they didn't work hard, you know,
- 12:38Speaker 3: but you've got to fully give yourself over to a
- 12:42Speaker 3: place and a job like this, right, And like when
- 12:48Speaker 3: you hear some of the things of going on vacation
- 12:51Speaker 3: during bye weeks, it's like, Okay, well, that's not that's
- 12:55Speaker 3: not how you do this. That's not what you can do.
- 12:57Speaker 3: You can't do those things like when you're in like
- 12:59Speaker 3: critical time, during critical times. But I don't think ever
- 13:03Speaker 3: like once once July fifteenth hits May in the NFL.
- 13:09Speaker 3: Maybe it's a little bit later in college, maybe it's
- 13:11Speaker 3: two weeks later. It's we go into the football facility,
- 13:15Speaker 3: we shut the door, we lock it, and we hide
- 13:18Speaker 3: the key, and then in December we look for the
- 13:23Speaker 3: key again. Right, we can take a little breather and
- 13:27Speaker 3: then we go right back in. And that's what it is,
- 13:30Speaker 3: that's what's all about. It's like everything you do from
- 13:33Speaker 3: that time is focused on how do we make the
- 13:36Speaker 3: LSU Tigers great?
- 13:38Speaker 2: And like that's some of the things that you didn't see.
- 13:41Speaker 4: Yeah, and you know, like it or not. When you
- 13:45Speaker 4: decide to take a job like this, when you decide
- 13:47Speaker 4: to take that contract, when you decide to take that
- 13:50Speaker 4: amount of money to do that job like it, that's
- 13:55Speaker 4: that that's your life at that point, Like you have
- 13:57Speaker 4: to be all in. You got to be sold at
- 14:00Speaker 4: and you know, of course, like what we all we
- 14:03Speaker 4: know is to talk about what we hear, right, and
- 14:05Speaker 4: you go vacation on things you talk about, Uh, you know,
- 14:10Speaker 4: there's rumors out there about not being in the office
- 14:13Speaker 4: quite as much as we needed to be. But you
- 14:16Speaker 4: talk about the fit. The fit thing has come up
- 14:18Speaker 4: so much, and it's like such a it's such a
- 14:22Speaker 4: glaring statement to me because you can't explain, you can't
- 14:28Speaker 4: define what fit is. Obviously, it's not geological, it's not
- 14:31Speaker 4: where you're from.
- 14:32Speaker 2: It's not about.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Any coach Miles. I mean, those guys.
- 14:35Speaker 4: Weren't nobody who's gonna be like besides coach Oh, Like,
- 14:38Speaker 4: who's who you're gonna find in the same state that's
- 14:40Speaker 4: gonna be hed got.
- 14:41Speaker 3: When when I think of what it takes to fit
- 14:43Speaker 3: into his place, it's somebody like Jay Johnson. So Jay's
- 14:47Speaker 3: from the West coast like that, he has no ties
- 14:49Speaker 3: to Louisiana. But when Jay came here and I've and
- 14:52Speaker 3: I've had conversations with Jay about this, like he wanted
- 14:55Speaker 3: to be the Nick Saban of college baseball in his
- 14:59Speaker 3: work ethic and what he gave to the program, Like
- 15:03Speaker 3: you can't drive by the box. And Elandra can back
- 15:06Speaker 3: me up on this because she goes over there and
- 15:08Speaker 3: works baseball. You can't go to that stadium and not
- 15:14Speaker 3: beat J there outlast Jay there, not see his car there.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Like that's just the way that that guy works. And
- 15:21Speaker 3: I'm not saying it's the only way to do it.
- 15:23Speaker 3: But Jay Johnson gives every ounce of everything he has
- 15:27Speaker 3: to make the LSU Tigers great in baseball. And if
- 15:31Speaker 3: they lose, Elandra, you'll bat me up on this. If
- 15:33Speaker 3: they lose, it's not because Jay didn't do everything he
- 15:37Speaker 3: possibly could to have them prepared. Yeah, one hundred percent agreed. Like,
- 15:41Speaker 3: like you said, he's from the West Coast, but he
- 15:43Speaker 3: embodies what I feel it means to coach here at LSU.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Like he's passionate about it.
- 15:49Speaker 3: He s it's the thing he loves more than anything
- 15:51Speaker 3: outside probably of his wife.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Right.
- 15:54Speaker 3: I mean you heard him that one time when he
- 15:56Speaker 3: we lost I don't remember what series, and he was
- 15:58Speaker 3: like I was up till like three am just staring
- 16:01Speaker 3: at the moon, drinking orange juice, and we were like, Okay,
- 16:04Speaker 3: this man's psycho, but I love it.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Yeah. So yes, I.
- 16:08Speaker 4: Think the people of Louisiana, like when they want when
- 16:10Speaker 4: they talk about fit, they want somebody for one that's genuine.
- 16:17Speaker 4: The two that when they say something, they know that
- 16:19Speaker 4: they mean it. And like it got with this Brian
- 16:21Speaker 4: Kellyer got off to a kind of a rocky start
- 16:23Speaker 4: with that, right with the you know, we laugh about it,
- 16:25Speaker 4: but the fake accent and all the just kind of
- 16:29Speaker 4: it's like you can tell, like when somebody is truly,
- 16:34Speaker 4: truly bought in and in it and authentic with it.
- 16:37Speaker 4: I think the authentic being authentic is the key word here.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Authenticity. Authenticity.
- 16:42Speaker 4: You know, it's a big word, but you know, you
- 16:46Speaker 4: ask I'm asked all the time for years, and I've
- 16:49Speaker 4: asked other people and I hear the people talking and
- 16:51Speaker 4: it's like, hey, what do you think about Brian Kelly
- 16:53Speaker 4: And it's like, I don't know.
- 16:56Speaker 2: I think it's pretty good. Don't really know him, don't
- 16:58Speaker 2: really know him.
- 16:58Speaker 4: Yeah, And and so when you don't know that, like
- 17:03Speaker 4: the people of Louisiana, LSU fans want somebody that is
- 17:06Speaker 4: all in, bought in to the program, and then that
- 17:09Speaker 4: can tell when when that man speaks. It's like, I
- 17:11Speaker 4: can I know it's in his heart when he speaks.
- 17:13Speaker 4: I don't know if we've ever known that. Yeah, I
- 17:16Speaker 4: guess we kind of like have the writing on the
- 17:17Speaker 4: wall now, but I mean it's one of those things.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Fit to me is being genuine to.
- 17:22Speaker 4: Yourself and genuinely love and respect in the state of
- 17:25Speaker 4: Louisiana and Louisiana State University. And you know, not to
- 17:29Speaker 4: say that Brian didn't want to the will was there.
- 17:33Speaker 4: I know, he gave his own money for, you know,
- 17:34Speaker 4: to put into nil and do all this stuff.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Like I think the will was there. I don't know
- 17:40Speaker 2: if the I don't know. I don't know if the
- 17:43Speaker 2: love or the authenticity was ever there.
- 17:45Speaker 4: I don't know. That's all kind of speculations. What it's
- 17:48Speaker 4: all opinion, that's subjective. But when I just when you
- 17:51Speaker 4: ask people, hey, what do you think about keuny, like,
- 17:53Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 17:54Speaker 2: I guess we got to wait and see. I don't know.
- 17:56Speaker 4: It wasn't ever like the oh man, this was an
- 17:58Speaker 4: awesome like so pumped up up about it?
- 18:00Speaker 2: What never that it was always I don't know.
- 18:03Speaker 4: I don't know, And that's that's an issue when you're
- 18:06Speaker 4: three four years in it and you're still saying, I
- 18:08Speaker 4: don't know, there's so.
- 18:12Speaker 3: Much and I know we actually we have a clock today,
- 18:14Speaker 3: even though it's not gonna feel like it it's gonna
- 18:16Speaker 3: be no, it's gonna be a little bit all over
- 18:18Speaker 3: the place, and so we'll go ahead and get out
- 18:19Speaker 3: in front of apologize to that.
- 18:20Speaker 2: But like even.
- 18:25Speaker 3: It's a small thing, and this isn't even like to
- 18:27Speaker 3: do with our show, just more like the station in general,
- 18:31Speaker 3: Like every single week, Jay Johnson comes on this radio
- 18:34Speaker 3: show every single week, Kim Malke comes on this radio
- 18:38Speaker 3: show every single week, Coach O came on this radio show.
- 18:42Speaker 3: And again it could be Hunt Show, Matt Show, Hanney
- 18:45Speaker 3: and I like, I don't I don't care more than
- 18:47Speaker 3: station Brian Kelly went on Paul finebumb Show. And that's
- 18:54Speaker 3: not to say that like don't do that. Oh my gosh,
- 18:56Speaker 3: well how'd you mistreat us? I'm saying like Jay and
- 18:59Speaker 3: Kim and coach are like they wanted to talk to
- 19:02Speaker 3: LSU fans. They didn't necessarily they didn't care to talk
- 19:05Speaker 3: to sec are their sport fans.
- 19:08Speaker 2: They wanted to talk to LSU fans.
- 19:10Speaker 3: And when we started doing that with Jay, like that
- 19:12Speaker 3: was this one thing He's like, yeah, I'll do I
- 19:14Speaker 3: don't want talk to LSU fans every Thursday, absolutely, like
- 19:17Speaker 3: we'll do that every week, and that was him, like
- 19:19Speaker 3: it wasn't even like us asking him to do.
- 19:21Speaker 2: It every week. He's like, we'll do this every week. Yep.
- 19:25Speaker 3: Those are the things that we're talking about. And it
- 19:26Speaker 3: seems like a small thing, but those things start to
- 19:30Speaker 3: pile up. And like, those coaches wanted to talk to
- 19:33Speaker 3: LSU fans. They wanted to talk to the people that
- 19:35Speaker 3: are listening to us right now. They wanted to talk
- 19:37Speaker 3: to the people that are in the chat every single day.
- 19:39Speaker 3: And they said that, like though, like.
- 19:42Speaker 4: When you talk to those coaches, you genuinely know who
- 19:48Speaker 4: those people are as a person. Yeah, right, You genuinely
- 19:51Speaker 4: know that they care about their program and about the
- 19:56Speaker 4: kids on that team and about the fan base.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Like there's no there's no question in that. There's no
- 20:03Speaker 2: I don't knows.
- 20:03Speaker 4: When you ask what their opinion of Kim Milky or
- 20:05Speaker 4: Jay Johnson is, there's no I don't knows there and
- 20:11Speaker 4: I just don't. We can't say that we ever truly
- 20:14Speaker 4: whether he did or not, I don't know. It just
- 20:17Speaker 4: the being genuine. It never seemed genuine, And that's what
- 20:22Speaker 4: that's my definition of the fit.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly, I don't on a map, I don't really
- 20:27Speaker 3: care where you're from. I think it's all the things
- 20:30Speaker 3: that we just talked about, something will continue to talk about.
- 20:36Speaker 3: So many different tracks there we can go with this deal. Uh,
- 20:39Speaker 3: you know, at some point we'll come back to what
- 20:41Speaker 3: the record was.
- 20:42Speaker 4: And so we're gonna do we kind of have a
- 20:45Speaker 4: thing on the show. We're gonna do it eulogy.
- 20:50Speaker 2: You know, I'm down for this. Should we do the
- 20:55Speaker 2: eulogy for every other coach? That's right?
- 21:00Speaker 4: We got a standard here on off the bench. Yeah,
- 21:02Speaker 4: we can't make exceptions, right right, I don't think so. Well,
- 21:05Speaker 4: let's know, in the chat, if you want us to
- 21:06Speaker 4: do a eulogy, well maybe we'll do that. Maybe it's
- 21:08Speaker 4: an hour three situation. Yeah, it feels like an hour
- 21:10Speaker 4: three situation.
- 21:12Speaker 2: We're glad to have you here with us.
- 21:14Speaker 3: Obviously, big day four LSU Athletics and there's a lot
- 21:18Speaker 3: of jobs that are open right now. But just know,
- 21:21Speaker 3: and I don't care what anybody says. I'll fight anybody
- 21:24Speaker 3: that almants to argue this point. The LSU job is
- 21:28Speaker 3: the best job available because the LSU football job is
- 21:32Speaker 3: a top three job in the sport. Regardless of what
- 21:35Speaker 3: job was open, it would be in the top three.
- 21:37Speaker 3: Even if you don't agree with that, you can deny
- 21:39Speaker 3: it's a top five job.
- 21:41Speaker 2: That's what it is. You're LSU and who almost said
- 21:44Speaker 2: a curse word there? And do it.
- 21:47Speaker 3: You are going to have the opportunity to change the
- 21:51Speaker 3: direction of this program and get it back to the
- 21:53Speaker 3: LSU standard if you handle it right. And we'll talk
- 21:57Speaker 3: all about that when we come back here on OTV.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 22:01Speaker 3: What's the what situation for FCC finds And in a
- 22:04Speaker 3: situation like this, I don't know, you gotta you gotta
- 22:06Speaker 3: slap on the wrist type deal because your boy got
- 22:10Speaker 3: sweat on the back.
- 22:11Speaker 4: I think they make exceptions for the situation like that
- 22:14Speaker 4: if your coach like gets fired and if you do
- 22:16Speaker 4: get fined, you know what you should be drinking.
- 22:20Speaker 3: I enjoyed a big boy, big do Sekis on Friday,
- 22:25Speaker 3: had some some good old little superior set down.
- 22:29Speaker 2: I think it was.
- 22:30Speaker 3: It was a big old like it made it like
- 22:32Speaker 3: it actually looked like it fit in my hand. If
- 22:33Speaker 3: that it tells you exactly, go for dose. Maybe you're
- 22:38Speaker 3: celebrating something, raise a glass, drink a dose, Sachi you
- 22:42Speaker 3: want to be celebrating just saying I don't know. I'm
- 22:45Speaker 3: just saying, weird. You gotta buye week. Maybe you get
- 22:47Speaker 3: a little getaway playing. You should enjoy that with a dose. Sekis.
- 22:52Speaker 4: It's always a great time to go for dose. Go
- 22:54Speaker 4: for dose at delicious Mexican lawyer. Make sure if you're
- 22:56Speaker 4: gonna do it, drink responsibily. And like you said, if
- 22:58Speaker 4: you're celebrating anything, make sure you're drinking. Do secis, go
- 23:01Speaker 4: for dose.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Say no, I'm disco.
- 23:07Speaker 2: It ain't no country club either, This is La.
- 23:14Speaker 5: All I want to do is have a little fun
- 23:17Speaker 5: before I die.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Just the man next to me out of nowhere.
- 23:23Speaker 3: Able, he says, his.
- 23:25Speaker 5: Name is William.
- 23:26Speaker 2: I'm sure it's.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Bill, William macer buddy, Let tigers turn talkers. This is
- 23:34Speaker 1: off the bench.
- 23:36Speaker 5: Fine, we are drinking.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Beer and no not Tuesday.
- 23:42Speaker 5: The fun faced giant calm wash. The good people of
- 23:48Speaker 5: the world are washing their cords on that lunch break, homes.
- 23:51Speaker 2: And a scramin as best they can skirt the su.
- 23:56Speaker 5: Drive, the shining dots and the buicks.
- 24:02Speaker 3: All right, welcome back, Yeah, OTV here lift in the
- 24:05Speaker 3: Raising Kanes studio. One of the things that we didn't
- 24:09Speaker 3: get to there in the in the first segment, and look,
- 24:11Speaker 3: this is going to be all three hours, So if
- 24:14Speaker 3: you're looking for anything else, probably not the place to
- 24:17Speaker 3: be today. It's obviously the biggest news in Louisiana. It's
- 24:21Speaker 3: the biggest news in the SEC, and it's one of
- 24:24Speaker 3: the biggest news pieces in the country.
- 24:32Speaker 2: When Brian Kelly first got here, we first got.
- 24:35Speaker 3: Here, uh, look in LSU at the time, you know,
- 24:39Speaker 3: it obviously wasn't going well, and we all know how
- 24:42Speaker 3: many players you had, and look, it was it was
- 24:44Speaker 3: going to be an uphill battle for sure.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Whatever, But.
- 24:50Speaker 3: We had been so used to a lot of the
- 24:52Speaker 3: same people being around the program.
- 24:55Speaker 2: And you know, some.
- 24:58Speaker 3: People might look at that and be like, yeah, well
- 24:59Speaker 3: when you when you bring somebody new and he needs
- 25:01Speaker 3: to bring in his people, and you need to bring
- 25:02Speaker 3: in some of your people for sure, for sure. But
- 25:05Speaker 3: there was like everybody had to go mentality And even
- 25:11Speaker 3: if you go back and listen to the shows that
- 25:13Speaker 3: I even I don't even know what chills doing. I
- 25:16Speaker 3: guess it would have been OTV at the time. It's
- 25:19Speaker 3: like that was that didn't make total sense to me.
- 25:23Speaker 3: And t Bob Okay, you got rid of you know,
- 25:26Speaker 3: Corey Raymond, and you got rid of Blake Baker who
- 25:30Speaker 3: was there.
- 25:30Speaker 2: And look, Blake is.
- 25:32Speaker 3: Like, I'm friends with Blake, like close with Blake. I
- 25:35Speaker 3: don't mindset on that, and you can probably guess that.
- 25:38Speaker 3: And Blake wanted to be here so bad and like
- 25:43Speaker 3: his wife played soccer here like else you mean something, Louise,
- 25:45Speaker 3: I mean some to him, and he was, you know,
- 25:47Speaker 3: linebacker coach, and like you didn't retain Blake Baker, and
- 25:51Speaker 3: so he goes to Missouri becomes a rising star, and
- 25:55Speaker 3: then you had to go crawling back and hire Blake back.
- 26:00Speaker 3: And Blake wanted to be here. We know Corey wanted
- 26:02Speaker 3: to be here. You had to do the same thing.
- 26:05Speaker 3: You had to try to right the wrong that you
- 26:07Speaker 3: didn't do from the very beginning. Like those are a
- 26:11Speaker 3: couple of people, but it's not just coaches. I mean
- 26:13Speaker 3: it's people with inside the building that had been there forever,
- 26:17Speaker 3: that had been through three national championships.
- 26:19Speaker 2: I think that.
- 26:20Speaker 3: Happens by chance, or you think those people knew what
- 26:23Speaker 3: they were doing, and those people were a fabrica of
- 26:27Speaker 3: the team and the school and what everything that it
- 26:30Speaker 3: means is kind of going back to the same conversation,
- 26:32Speaker 3: like those people in the building would have jumped on
- 26:36Speaker 3: a grenade for LSU.
- 26:38Speaker 2: And they're not football coach.
- 26:39Speaker 3: If I'm just talking about people around the building, I'm
- 26:41Speaker 3: talking about from every job that you can imagine, director
- 26:44Speaker 3: of obs, director of recruiting, head coach, secretary like whatever, anything,
- 26:50Speaker 3: Dietitian like whatever, it would have been, strength coach like
- 26:55Speaker 3: like whatever it would have been.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Like those people would have jumped on a grenade for LSU.
- 26:59Speaker 3: And they've been through three three national championships with three
- 27:01Speaker 3: different coaches, and it was like such a.
- 27:05Speaker 2: We gotta get rid of everybody.
- 27:08Speaker 3: And then you found yourself having to go back to
- 27:11Speaker 3: multiple people that we're talking about there because you're like, oh, well, actually,
- 27:15Speaker 3: they did do things.
- 27:16Speaker 2: The right way. They did have a deep desire.
- 27:19Speaker 3: For this program in this place, and they'd given their
- 27:23Speaker 3: entire adult life to LSU and those three letters, and
- 27:28Speaker 3: like you have to have those people in the building again,
- 27:32Speaker 3: you want to bring in your own people.
- 27:33Speaker 2: I get that.
- 27:34Speaker 3: I understand that it's got to be a mixture of both,
- 27:37Speaker 3: but it was over correction to say the least.
- 27:40Speaker 4: Like from the very get go all right, everything you're
- 27:47Speaker 4: saying one hundred percent accurate. I want to talk about
- 27:50Speaker 4: that from a former player perspective.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Since the as tenure began. And look, we.
- 28:04Speaker 4: There's a lot of things that we've known and heard
- 28:07Speaker 4: for years right now, ving LSU fans were optimistic. We
- 28:10Speaker 4: hope things turn around, we hope their success. But when
- 28:12Speaker 4: there's not, you know, these kind of things start to
- 28:15Speaker 4: come to light from a former former, from a former
- 28:20Speaker 4: player perspective. For the majority of people that I talked
- 28:24Speaker 4: to that I played with, that we sweat with, we
- 28:26Speaker 4: bled with, we fought with, and the people that came
- 28:29Speaker 4: before us and the people that came after with after us,
- 28:34Speaker 4: there was never there was always kind of a feeling
- 28:37Speaker 4: that whether it's true or not, that they were felt
- 28:42Speaker 4: that they were a little unwelcome in the facility at
- 28:45Speaker 4: football ops. Now you could go, it was just there
- 28:52Speaker 4: was a lot of different steps to have to go
- 28:54Speaker 4: to go unless you were like a former like superstar
- 28:57Speaker 4: person that you could kind of have the act says,
- 29:00Speaker 4: but the access was kind of taken away from your
- 29:04Speaker 4: former players.
- 29:05Speaker 3: And I'm gonna let you speak on this more than me,
- 29:07Speaker 3: because I.
- 29:10Speaker 4: I just hear it from from the people that from
- 29:14Speaker 4: everybody that we played with. Yeah, that's not like the
- 29:17Speaker 4: superstars superstars, right, It's like they never felt really welcome
- 29:22Speaker 4: like before this. But when coach Miles was here, coach
- 29:25Speaker 4: O's Ronleigh welcome players that come back and work out
- 29:28Speaker 4: in the facility. They had lockers, they had they everything
- 29:31Speaker 4: was welcome. They would always ask for former players to
- 29:33Speaker 4: come back and speak to the team, be around the team.
- 29:38Speaker 4: So I think there was people felt isolated and they
- 29:41Speaker 4: didn't like that about this this regime. Now, no one,
- 29:45Speaker 4: you know, complained that much because we we were hopeful
- 29:48Speaker 4: that you know, whatever new coach wants to do his
- 29:50Speaker 4: own thing, doesn't want to doesn't want a ton of
- 29:52Speaker 4: the former players back or around.
- 29:55Speaker 2: Fine, but you're better win. Yeah. Uh.
- 30:00Speaker 4: And in this day and age where you have this
- 30:02Speaker 4: nil culture of you're paying players to come in. They
- 30:08Speaker 4: might not have like in their heart of hearts, they
- 30:10Speaker 4: might not bleed purple and gold, but they're there to
- 30:13Speaker 4: play the sport as best they can. And you want
- 30:15Speaker 4: to develop culture with a bunch of every single year,
- 30:18Speaker 4: you got all these new you got all this turnover.
- 30:20Speaker 4: You're gonna have more turnover next year, all these turnover
- 30:23Speaker 4: new guys, people coming from different colleges all over the
- 30:25Speaker 4: country that have signed somewhere else out of high school
- 30:28Speaker 4: and they've transferred twice and now they're at LSU because
- 30:30Speaker 4: they're getting paid and they got to play well in
- 30:34Speaker 4: this world, I would think it'd be paramount, absolutely paramount
- 30:40Speaker 4: for to have your former players that were here, that care.
- 30:44Speaker 2: That will die for this program.
- 30:45Speaker 4: Yeah, that will absolutely do anything they can for that
- 30:49Speaker 4: eye in the middle of the field. I would think
- 30:51Speaker 4: you would want them around creating that culture, setting it
- 30:55Speaker 4: all the time for these people that have transferred in
- 30:58Speaker 4: because of money to come play football.
- 31:00Speaker 2: And that's what I'm glad. Guys are getting paid. I
- 31:01Speaker 2: love it. It's great.
- 31:05Speaker 4: I would think you would want that culture to be
- 31:07Speaker 4: set by people that have been there, and not just
- 31:10Speaker 4: from the top guys, the guys that have you know,
- 31:12Speaker 4: won the Heisman or All Americans, right, but from the
- 31:15Speaker 4: guys that grinded, the guys that were position players, that
- 31:19Speaker 4: were role players, guys that fought and scrapped and had
- 31:23Speaker 4: to earn a scholarship in their second or third year
- 31:25Speaker 4: because they just loved LSU so much.
- 31:28Speaker 2: And that was.
- 31:31Speaker 4: Whether right or wrong, whether this is correct or not,
- 31:33Speaker 4: whether they meant to or not. It was taken away
- 31:36Speaker 4: from a lot of that. And it started and when
- 31:39Speaker 4: you want to isolate your former players a little bit
- 31:41Speaker 4: more to what you were talking about, it started with
- 31:44Speaker 4: as soon as Brian Kelly got here. It's like when
- 31:47Speaker 4: you go to you go get sent to prison, and
- 31:49Speaker 4: you send a message about picking the biggest guy in
- 31:51Speaker 4: the in the yard to fight. He went there and
- 31:55Speaker 4: fired a man that every former player loved, Tommy Moffitt
- 31:59Speaker 4: was loved by every single former player, and you went
- 32:03Speaker 4: and you did him wrong and you fired him. And
- 32:06Speaker 4: I don't know if you meant it or what. The
- 32:08Speaker 4: man had to pack up a cardboard box and the
- 32:10Speaker 4: optics of it were terrible, had to pack a box
- 32:12Speaker 4: load his car in the rain. And if you want
- 32:16Speaker 4: to get rid of him, fine, that is your prerogative.
- 32:18Speaker 4: You are welcome to bring in your own people. There's
- 32:20Speaker 4: a way to do things. Not everybody is the same.
- 32:24Speaker 4: And you isolated, I want to say, the majority of
- 32:28Speaker 4: your former players. It got started on a rocky road
- 32:31Speaker 4: and a rough foot like that is not how you
- 32:34Speaker 4: endear yourself, especially in this in Io world.
- 32:36Speaker 2: When you got to have.
- 32:37Speaker 4: Those guys around and you went and picked the biggest
- 32:39Speaker 4: guy in the yard, and you fired him.
- 32:41Speaker 2: And guess what, he.
- 32:42Speaker 4: Packed his bags, he reloaded his car in the rain,
- 32:46Speaker 4: and he just came and beat your ass in the rain.
- 32:52Speaker 3: Oh twice the last two years in the second half.
- 32:56Speaker 3: And that's after he was told that he's gonna be retained.
- 33:03Speaker 3: And then got the rug pulled.
- 33:04Speaker 4: From yeah, out wrong way, and I got if you
- 33:10Speaker 4: picked the wrong person to do wrong enemy.
- 33:14Speaker 3: And last one before we take a break. We're gonna
- 33:17Speaker 3: try to stay on the clock as much as we can.
- 33:18Speaker 2: It's it's not gonna be easy.
- 33:21Speaker 3: I remember somebody from and I don't know who it is.
- 33:25Speaker 3: They're not here anymore. And there's a lot of people
- 33:27Speaker 3: in and out from here and there, from Notre Dame whatever.
- 33:30Speaker 3: I remember somebody telling me because I asked that question,
- 33:32Speaker 3: because there was there was a story of Ethan Postik
- 33:35Speaker 3: was in the weight room and Ethan's still playing in
- 33:38Speaker 3: the NFL, by the way, and he was like back
- 33:40Speaker 3: working out in the weight room, and almost like was asked,
- 33:43Speaker 3: like what are you doing in here? It's like I'm
- 33:45Speaker 3: working out like play real shoe, like I'm in the NFL,
- 33:48Speaker 3: like we always do this and and so like that's
- 33:50Speaker 3: where it started. And I'm like, hey, like why is
- 33:53Speaker 3: that happening? Like why is that going on? Because like
- 33:56Speaker 3: we used to have lockers in here where we worked out,
- 34:00Speaker 3: and like they would keep like if we were in
- 34:01Speaker 3: the NFL, we had a locker, we had a loop,
- 34:03Speaker 3: we had like and they embraced it, and they said, well,
- 34:08Speaker 3: you know, being in South Bend, Indiana, like nobody's from there,
- 34:13Speaker 3: and so like nobody lives there and nobody moves back there,
- 34:16Speaker 3: and so like it's never really been a thing, and
- 34:19Speaker 3: so it's just it's overwhelming for all the people that
- 34:23Speaker 3: still live around the program and they are still wanting
- 34:25Speaker 3: to be in the building, Like we just haven't ever
- 34:27Speaker 3: really had to deal with that, yeah, and so we're
- 34:29Speaker 3: trying to navigate how to deal with that. That was
- 34:32Speaker 3: the answer that I got when I asked the question,
- 34:33Speaker 3: because it made me angry because I'm like, Ethan's like Ethan,
- 34:37Speaker 3: like it's not from here, Ethan came here, Ethan was
- 34:40Speaker 3: a great player here, Ethan's still a great player, still.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Playing in the NFL.
- 34:43Speaker 3: And that was the answer that I got, was it
- 34:45Speaker 3: was overwhelming because nobody moved back to South Bend and
- 34:49Speaker 3: tried to come back to the facility at Notre Dame,
- 34:51Speaker 3: and so they didn't know how to handle all of
- 34:53Speaker 3: us still living here and wanting to be around the program.
- 34:56Speaker 2: And they didn't handle it. Nope, they did not.
- 34:59Speaker 4: So hey isolate for the former players, and you lose
- 35:03Speaker 4: a pretty big what could have been a good support.
- 35:09Speaker 3: And I also think it means something that we do
- 35:11Speaker 3: move back here. I'm not from here. I'm from Treport
- 35:15Speaker 3: from Louisiana. I'm not from Baton Rouge. That's not from here.
- 35:18Speaker 3: He's from Texas. Dick Dixon's not from here. He's from
- 35:22Speaker 3: Motion Springs, Mississippi. I mean, we could go on and
- 35:26Speaker 3: on of the people that aren't from Baton Rouge aren't
- 35:29Speaker 3: from South Louisiana. But where do we find our way
- 35:32Speaker 3: back to Baton Rouge in South Louisiana?
- 35:34Speaker 2: Because we we we were just a place. We were fit,
- 35:38Speaker 2: we were fit, we were fed.
- 35:40Speaker 3: All right, we'll take a break more OTB when we
- 35:43Speaker 3: come back here live.

- 37:08Speaker 1: to off the bench.
- 37:09Speaker 5: Two Day's gonna be the day that they're gonna throw
- 37:12Speaker 5: it back to you. By now, you should have somehow
- 37:17Speaker 5: realized what you gotta do. I don't believe that anybody
- 37:23Speaker 5: feels the way I had to about you now backbe
- 37:32Speaker 5: the weather's on the street, that the fire in your
- 37:34Speaker 5: heart is out. I'm sure you've heard it all before,
- 37:39Speaker 5: but you never really had it out. I don't believe
- 37:43Speaker 5: that anybody feels the way I to about you now.
- 37:52Speaker 3: All right, welcome back to you and OTB here last
- 37:54Speaker 3: in Raize.
- 37:54Speaker 2: King Studio.
- 37:57Speaker 4: Got some good news. Yeah, votes are in in the
- 38:01Speaker 4: chat our three. There will be a eulogy happening on
- 38:04Speaker 4: this show. All right, let it get to typing.
- 38:12Speaker 3: Might be electric, might be uh, a lot of like
- 38:16Speaker 3: why are y'all just now speaking on this? I should
- 38:18Speaker 3: have been talked about like you don't get the you
- 38:20Speaker 3: don't get to get then, Like the last thing I'm
- 38:23Speaker 3: gonna do and UH is give any other fan base
- 38:28Speaker 3: or anybody else like the opportunity to crap on LSU
- 38:32Speaker 3: Like you're gonna try to figure it out internally.
- 38:34Speaker 2: You're gonna try to speak to the right people.
- 38:36Speaker 3: You're gonna try to like I said, like I spoke
- 38:40Speaker 3: up and spoke out for former players, and look, I'll
- 38:43Speaker 3: give Jake Flint the Strengths coach a lot of credit.
- 38:45Speaker 3: Like Jake, Jake started to like say, you know, we're
- 38:48Speaker 3: gonna have some former guys that are able to work
- 38:49Speaker 3: out in here.
- 38:50Speaker 1: Right.
- 38:50Speaker 3: So like, if I'm out there and I'm doing that
- 38:53Speaker 3: instead of trying to fix the problem, if I'm just
- 38:54Speaker 3: sitting here whining about it, then that doesn't help my school.
- 38:58Speaker 3: And I'm gonna do everything i can to help those
- 39:00Speaker 3: three letters. And so that's just the way that I'm
- 39:04Speaker 3: going to handle that in those situations. I'm not just
- 39:07Speaker 3: with this coaching staff for them. I'm gonna try to
- 39:09Speaker 3: figure out how do we help LSU and how do
- 39:14Speaker 3: we try to fix those wrongs.
- 39:16Speaker 4: And there's one thing like if you want to do
- 39:17Speaker 4: it's your way, that's that that pisses some people off,
- 39:22Speaker 4: make some people upset. It's fine, but you better succeed
- 39:25Speaker 4: at it, right, So you don't like it. Just because
- 39:29Speaker 4: somebody is like not pleased with something doesn't mean that
- 39:31Speaker 4: they need to go out and speak.
- 39:33Speaker 2: Out about it. Because you're still hopeful.
- 39:34Speaker 4: It's the three letters, it's LSU, man, You we still
- 39:38Speaker 4: want the most success no matter what.
- 39:42Speaker 3: So and those things are happening in person, real conversations
- 39:47Speaker 3: to try to fix those wrongs.
- 39:51Speaker 4: So so kudos man, kudos to the people that stepped
- 39:56Speaker 4: up to make a decision. I know there's no you know,
- 40:00Speaker 4: right time to do something like this, and I know
- 40:02Speaker 4: it's I don't think that many people thought it could
- 40:06Speaker 4: be done. From a financial perspective. How is it going
- 40:09Speaker 4: to do? How's all come together? We still don't know how.
- 40:12Speaker 4: I know the conversations on the buyout are still being discussed.
- 40:16Speaker 4: I guess quote from a lot of different people. What
- 40:19Speaker 4: does that mean. I'll tell you, well, we don't know.
- 40:21Speaker 4: I've no idea. I don't know if you could settle it.
- 40:24Speaker 4: I don't know the details on it. Everybody that it'll
- 40:27Speaker 4: it'll come out, it'll trickle out.
- 40:29Speaker 3: It seems like everybody that we talked to seems to
- 40:32Speaker 3: think that it's not going to be the fifty three
- 40:34Speaker 3: million dollars right to know how that's possible, But you know,
- 40:39Speaker 3: I don't know how it's possible either. I don't know
- 40:41Speaker 3: what those conversations are like.
- 40:42Speaker 2: I know it takes like another job.
- 40:44Speaker 4: If off like the payment off sets like in the
- 40:46Speaker 4: you know contracts in the NFL, like if you were
- 40:48Speaker 4: getting paid and get cut, whoever you know signs you
- 40:51Speaker 4: next that money you get there, you don't get it
- 40:53Speaker 4: from both teams. So I don't know if it's a
- 40:55Speaker 4: situation like that, but coaches contracts are out of control.
- 40:58Speaker 4: I know that, absolutely out of control. It's ludicrous. I said, ludicrous, looted.
- 41:09Speaker 4: I'm pretty proud of that one. We could tell you celebrated.
- 41:12Speaker 4: I got to have the tiger on today, so love
- 41:14Speaker 4: l s Uh. I mean, oh, you got the old
- 41:18Speaker 4: school old school Well.
- 41:21Speaker 3: I figured, uh, it needed to be.
- 41:24Speaker 2: It needed to be an old school day. Right, let's
- 41:26Speaker 2: go need to be an old school day. It needed
- 41:28Speaker 2: to be. Should your neck a little, this is a day.
- 41:32Speaker 2: Don't tempt me with a good time. But let's go.
- 41:34Speaker 2: Frank bring the fullback back.
- 41:36Speaker 3: Uh yeah, if anybody would, my man Frank would do it.
- 41:40Speaker 3: There's no doubt about that.
- 41:44Speaker 2: Why not. Couldn't be, couldn't hurt? It would be a
- 41:49Speaker 2: bad thing.
- 41:50Speaker 3: At some point, again, we're gonna try to catch up
- 41:52Speaker 3: on the clock here this segment, but at some point,
- 41:55Speaker 3: like there's things that that we do want to show
- 41:57Speaker 3: on tape as well, like in this A and M game,
- 42:00Speaker 3: the good, the bad, the ugly. There was some things
- 42:02Speaker 3: that were good in the run game. I think you
- 42:04Speaker 3: have an emerging star at running back.
- 42:08Speaker 2: I think that.
- 42:10Speaker 3: You have a couple of positions that played their best game.
- 42:13Speaker 3: I think trade s Green and Matt pointed it out
- 42:16Speaker 3: multiple times this morning already to me, I think he
- 42:18Speaker 3: played his best game as an LSU Tiger. So there's
- 42:22Speaker 3: things to highlight, and obviously there's a lot of things
- 42:24Speaker 3: that went bad. You can't give up two sacks against
- 42:27Speaker 3: those edge rushers where you didn't touch them, like, you
- 42:30Speaker 3: didn't put a hand on them, you didn't whisper to
- 42:32Speaker 3: them like. Those things can't happen. So we'll get to
- 42:34Speaker 3: that as well. But it is going to be all
- 42:37Speaker 3: LSU all day. We'll continue that process when we come
- 42:40Speaker 3: back here. It is OTB Live from the Raise of
- 42:42Speaker 3: Kine Studio. Off the bench, all right, go to go
- 42:45Speaker 3: Tommies dot com, Ga Tommies dot com, Go Bearded dot
- 42:49Speaker 3: com as well. We've been telling you they got that
- 42:51Speaker 3: contest going on here in early November. What a cool
- 42:54Speaker 3: deal that they've got going on. And you know Tommy,
- 42:57Speaker 3: he's obviously passionate and they're going to give all the
- 43:00Speaker 3: private to CIA here in Baton Rouge.
- 43:02Speaker 2: Right, So they're doing this for charity as well. Cool
- 43:04Speaker 2: cool event that.
- 43:05Speaker 3: They've got going on in different categories. Different beard links
- 43:08Speaker 3: are going to be in the competition. Mustache, So maybe
- 43:13Speaker 3: maybe I find my nab so I got.
- 43:15Speaker 4: A couple of weeks still, you know a little bit
- 43:17Speaker 4: or I'm like composer now kind of kind of kind
- 43:20Speaker 4: of shave it.
- 43:21Speaker 3: You might need some just from end to make sure
- 43:23Speaker 3: that fills in. Uh, go to go Tommy dot com.
- 43:25Speaker 3: Go to go Bearded dot com.
- 43:26Speaker 4: If you're going to good luck beating Tommy Beard. I mean,
- 43:29Speaker 4: my god, it's gorgeous.
- 43:31Speaker 2: Gorgeous.
- 43:32Speaker 4: Hey, if you've got a project happening, windows, doors, siding,
- 43:34Speaker 4: they are the best lifetime warranties on other projects. They
- 43:37Speaker 4: will guarantee anything that they install. So if you have
- 43:39Speaker 4: a project in place, round make sure you give Tommy's
- 43:41Speaker 4: a call to get a price and just talk to
- 43:43Speaker 4: them about the project. They are the best. Go Tommies
- 43:45Speaker 4: dot com.
- 43:53Speaker 1: Oh, locked in on LSU Football twenty four to seven.
- 43:59Speaker 1: You're listening to off the Bench.
- 44:24Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in OTV, laughing to raise a
- 44:26Speaker 3: kines studio. One thing I'll say, and I saw something
- 44:30Speaker 3: the chatting that Look, we appreciate you all being in here.
- 44:32Speaker 3: Almost fifteen hundred people watching right now, so we do appreciate.
- 44:36Speaker 3: Love the interaction, keep them coming, good, bad and different. Agree,
- 44:39Speaker 3: disagree whatever you know us we're going to interact regardless.
- 44:43Speaker 3: One of the things I did see though, like, can
- 44:45Speaker 3: you can you have teams play hard? Can you have
- 44:48Speaker 3: the same passion that you are talking about in today's
- 44:51Speaker 3: age of college football?
- 44:52Speaker 2: Yes? And I said it last week.
- 44:54Speaker 3: I want to remind people that the let's see the
- 44:57Speaker 3: number two team in the country.
- 45:00Speaker 2: Let's see.
- 45:00Speaker 3: I'm gonna make sure I get their rankings right now.
- 45:02Speaker 3: I know we're coming up on this. Yeah, the number
- 45:04Speaker 3: two team in the country, the number eight team in
- 45:07Speaker 3: the country, and the number nine team in the country,
- 45:09Speaker 3: and the number ten team in the country. That's Indiana,
- 45:12Speaker 3: that's Georgia Tech, that's Vanderbilt, and that's BYU. Turn on
- 45:15Speaker 3: the tape, watch those teams and tell me that you
- 45:18Speaker 3: don't see teams playing like they used to, Teams playing
- 45:22Speaker 3: hard as hell, teams giving you everything they've got.
- 45:26Speaker 2: Those players.
- 45:26Speaker 3: Look, every one of those teams outside of BYU. They
- 45:29Speaker 3: got transfer quarterback, they got transfers all over the place.
- 45:32Speaker 3: So it's not you can't take a transfer. No, you
- 45:34Speaker 3: have to set a culture. And when you set the
- 45:36Speaker 3: culture and you set the expectation, it's non negotiable. It's
- 45:40Speaker 3: not we hope you do it. You have to do
- 45:42Speaker 3: it or you won't be here. This is what we have.
- 45:45Speaker 3: This is our DNA, and if you don't buy in,
- 45:48Speaker 3: we'll find somebody that will. And that's why their top
- 45:50Speaker 3: ten teams in the country. More OTB. When we come back,
- 45:53Speaker 3: our number two off the bench,
