- 0:25they use in the cyber truck. Now this was initially perceived

- 0:32by Ford Motor Company CEO Jim Farley on X, the social media
- 0:36platform formerly known as Twitter.
- 0:38And Farley's recognition and gratitude for the document from
- 0:41Tesla CEO Elon Musk highlights its potential impact on the
- 0:46automotive industry. Every EV company has access to
- 0:50this. Now.
- 0:51Tesla's document centers around the advanced 48 Volt electric
- 0:54system, a prominent feature of their latest EV, the Cyber
- 0:57Truck, and this system marks a significant departure from the
- 1:01traditional 12 Volt systems prevalent in most vehicles
- 1:03today. Benefits of the 48 Volt system
- 1:07include accelerated charging capabilities, superior
- 1:10performance and the introduction of innovative features such as
- 1:14steer by wire technology, which removes the physical linkage
- 1:17between the steering wheel and the vehicle's wheels.

- 2:04A vital factor in the EVs now transitioning to 48 Volts,
- 2:08however, faces some obstacles, mainly due to the deep rooted 12
- 2:12Volt supplier ecosystem. Achieving broad adoption
- 2:16necessitates re engineering vehicle systems and accessories
- 2:18for 48 Volt compatibility, demanding significant time,
- 2:22resources and investment. Tesla's initiative to share its
- 2:2648 Volt architecture is a strategic decision potentially
- 2:29beneficial for the company while posing challenges for
- 2:32conventional automakers in adapting their supply chains and
- 2:35engineering processes. A wider industry shipped to 48
- 2:38Volt systems could lead to lower cost for components due to
- 2:42increase supply chain volumes and cultivate A skilled
- 2:45workforce in these systems, advantageous to Tesla and Elon
- 2:50Musk. Now the Tesla Cybertruck with
- 2:52its 48 Volt architecture exemplifies Tesla's innovative
- 2:55approach has advanced features like steer by wire.
- 2:58It set a new benchmark that could result in an uptick in

- 4:02tangent here as I'm a a coder myself.
- 4:06I'm a developer. I use a ton of open source, free
- 4:10to use software in my daily routines and what Elon Musk is
- 4:16basically doing an open source of this 48 Volt architecture for
- 4:20other companies. It's free to them, they can use
- 4:22it as they wish, they just have to maybe credit Tesla for it.
- 4:26I'm not sure. Maybe it's completely open
- 4:28standard. We'll see in the future, but but
- 4:31it seems like he's doing the right thing.
- 4:32He's an engineer too, so he does understand the effectiveness of
- 4:37using open source technologies now.
- 4:40This can reshape companies, though this could reshape the
- 4:43way that Ford does all their work.
- 4:45Instead of using proprietary systems, they may be integrating
- 4:49open source technologies in their future vehicles.
- 4:52And furthermore, Tesla's move could have environmental
- 4:55implications. As automakers shift to more
- 4:57efficient electrical systems like 48 Volt, the potential for
- 5:01reducing energy consumption and emissions in the automotive
- 5:04sector increases. This change aligns with global
