- 0:00Speaker 1: The fust will be with you all ways. I don't
- 0:18Speaker 1: know everybody wants actually an episode Star Wars. It's your
- 0:21Speaker 1: home on Geek Ultimate Lines podcast network, your home for
- 0:26Speaker 1: uh any and all thinks Star Wars. I think I
- 0:28Speaker 1: got lost. I like totally lost my intro.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Whatever did we finally court? By the way, did we
- 0:35Speaker 2: finally coordinate on T shirts? Here? Like?
- 0:37Speaker 1: It appears that we may have. Matt has a better
- 0:41Speaker 1: matching T shirt to yours. But I was like, you
- 0:44Speaker 1: know what, I'm gonna throw a my like traditional Star
- 0:48Speaker 1: Wars logo shirt today.
- 0:50Speaker 2: I actually really like that one. It's very plain, very simple.
- 0:54Speaker 2: I like it.
- 0:55Speaker 1: It's a very nice one. I got several compliments on
- 0:57Speaker 1: my work calls today about it. I found it on Amazon.
- 1:05Speaker 1: It's really sad how much I get off of Amazon. Okay,
- 1:07Speaker 1: I admit I have a problem. Okay, that's the first step. Right,
- 1:11Speaker 1: I'm here with Clay Clay.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Hi, I I'm doing good. I I well, we've already
- 1:26Speaker 2: said it, so we can say it. We just can't
- 1:28Speaker 2: say anything about it. Uh. We of course got trials
- 1:34Speaker 2: of the Jedi.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:36Speaker 2: I will say this. I am trying to crunch down
- 1:41Speaker 2: and have it be the seventh book that I read
- 1:44Speaker 2: this month. Yeah. Uh, so I have literally two days
- 1:51Speaker 2: to finish the book.
- 1:54Speaker 1: I'm a chap three two. You have three days.
- 1:57Speaker 2: You have to night after two.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Yeah. I focused on everything else because I really wanted
- 2:03Speaker 1: to have everything else High Republic that we had access
- 2:06Speaker 1: to read before going into Trials with the Jedi.
- 2:11Speaker 2: So I probably should have done that. Since I have
- 2:14Speaker 2: like the Edge of Balance stuff now and all of that,
- 2:18Speaker 2: I probably should have read that before I started trying.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I told her you needed to read it before Trials
- 2:24Speaker 1: the Jedi. I even told you, I, I.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Well, I still need to get one more book now
- 2:33Speaker 2: that I think about it, The Dark Sith one. What
- 2:38Speaker 2: is that one? Uh?
- 2:41Speaker 1: For the Higher Republic?
- 2:43Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 2:43Speaker 1: Oh Echoes of Fear.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Echoes of Fear. Yeah, I still need to grab that one.
- 2:50Speaker 1: So that one was super good. George Man did a
- 2:53Speaker 1: really good job. But I you should be proud of me. Okay.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I got the High Republic Adventures of Volume three read
- 2:59Speaker 1: this week, and I got crash Own from the Higher
- 3:02Speaker 1: Republic Adventures read this weekend. I got Valiant Vow read
- 3:06Speaker 1: start to finish this weekend because I hadn't started it yet.
- 3:11Speaker 1: And then I read my first Agatha Christy book.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Wow.
- 3:16Speaker 1: So I read all those this weekend.
- 3:20Speaker 2: I had already read this book for a while now
- 3:28Speaker 2: I legit, put it on two point three speed and
- 3:34Speaker 2: finished my second round today. So we will have more
- 3:40Speaker 2: to say on the Valiant Vow or a Valiant Vow
- 3:45Speaker 2: later tonight. That is our book review of the night.
- 3:49Speaker 2: We have some news that we will be talking about
- 3:54Speaker 2: for our main show, guys. This news spans from every
- 4:00Speaker 2: thing that was kind of going on during and Or
- 4:04Speaker 2: that we did not cover because again, we wanted to
- 4:06Speaker 2: focus on and Or only because those were some very
- 4:09Speaker 2: long episodes and there might have been like one or
- 4:14Speaker 2: two things that we felt like, there's not really anything
- 4:17Speaker 2: to talk about here, so we left those out as well.
- 4:23Speaker 2: But Katie, where do you want to start?
- 4:28Speaker 1: You want to I want to dive into the book
- 4:30Speaker 1: news first, because this is where we have a lot
- 4:32Speaker 1: of our stuff. Actually, you know, I take that back.
- 4:36Speaker 1: We're going to get this out of the window first,
- 4:41Speaker 1: and I think you may know what I'm talking about.
- 4:43Speaker 1: It's the Kathleen Kennedy news. So we had the interview
- 4:50Speaker 1: at Star Wars celebration where Kennedy said, oh, I'm going
- 4:53Speaker 1: to be stepping down to be solely a producer sometime
- 4:58Speaker 1: at the end of this year or early next year.
- 5:02Speaker 1: And then Jeff Snyder, who I can't stand by the
- 5:06Speaker 1: way he always manages to like squirk his way back in,
- 5:10Speaker 1: but like he gets tossed out and then comes back in.
- 5:14Speaker 1: And so he's on his latest round of like upcomings
- 5:17Speaker 1: where he has like all these sources and everything. But
- 5:21Speaker 1: he said I can't find when he said this, by
- 5:24Speaker 1: the way, but this was like April twenty fifth, is
- 5:29Speaker 1: when I pulled this news report from and he said
- 5:35Speaker 1: that Kennedy is actually going to be stepping down in August.
- 5:39Speaker 1: There is no statement from Lucasfilm that I can find
- 5:43Speaker 1: on this. Every news piece I found was just updated with, Hey,
- 5:50Speaker 1: we were told this is incorrect. We apologize. Here's the
- 5:54Speaker 1: original post below for reference.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Like and also, like, that's such an odd statement to make. Oh,
- 6:06Speaker 2: it's not at the end of the year. It's not
- 6:07Speaker 2: at the beginning of the year. It's August. Like why
- 6:11Speaker 2: August of all, Like, it just doesn't make a whole
- 6:17Speaker 2: lot of sense there. I don't know what would be
- 6:21Speaker 2: announced at that time. The only thing that I can
- 6:24Speaker 2: think of is the end like July into August, going
- 6:31Speaker 2: into September. We have, of course Comic Con, but I
- 6:35Speaker 2: don't think like we've already seen announcements that Marvel will
- 6:40Speaker 2: be at Comic Con, DC will be at Comic Con.
- 6:44Speaker 2: You would think that we would hear, oh, Star Wars
- 6:47Speaker 2: is going to be at Comic Con. But again, I
- 6:49Speaker 2: don't have celebration.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Yeah, you had celebration. I don't feel like that's the
- 6:54Speaker 1: type of thing you bring to comic on like you
- 6:56Speaker 1: bring movie news. You don't bring oh, our fewerless Leader
- 7:01Speaker 1: is stepping down kind of thing like maybe D twenty three,
- 7:05Speaker 1: But I don't think D twenty three is happening this year.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Oh really? Uh well, actually doesn't it happen every other year?
- 7:13Speaker 1: So yeah, so I think it's been alternating with Star
- 7:17Speaker 1: Wars celebration. Okay, Okay, so I don't even think because
- 7:21Speaker 1: that would typically be August September timeframe. So I don't know.
- 7:29Speaker 1: This is why, just guys, when you're looking at scoops,
- 7:32Speaker 1: you take everything with a grain of salt.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Yep. And that's why, yep.
- 7:39Speaker 1: We live by it over here. If it's not on
- 7:41Speaker 1: Star Wars dot com, don't believe it, yeah, until they
- 7:45Speaker 1: say it's true kind of thing. If you want a
- 7:47Speaker 1: headcanon it, fine, whatever, but like for stuff like this,
- 7:51Speaker 1: don't believe it. Okay, So to the book news and
- 7:57Speaker 1: so this is actually so uh. Tom from random House
- 8:02Speaker 1: world posted this, And obviously this isn't really like Star
- 8:06Speaker 1: Wars news, this is just like publishing news. But I
- 8:09Speaker 1: still thought it was cool because Star Wars books a
- 8:13Speaker 1: lot of people put a lot into them, and there's
- 8:17Speaker 1: a huge team behind each Star Wars book, and so
- 8:21Speaker 1: Random House Worlds is now listing the actual book team
- 8:24Speaker 1: on the copyright page. And this list includes every editor,
- 8:28Speaker 1: production manager, and then the proofreaders as well. And so
- 8:32Speaker 1: I think this is a really cool tidbit. There's a
- 8:34Speaker 1: lot of people that work behind books, as I just said,
- 8:38Speaker 1: and editors are like silent heroes, and to me, they
- 8:42Speaker 1: deserve the credit.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Also, I want to give a shout out to the
- 8:51Speaker 2: the sound editing team for I believe it started with
- 8:56Speaker 2: a valiant vow. It Now at the end of the
- 9:02Speaker 2: books they say, hey, you can't use this for AI use.
- 9:10Speaker 2: I had not heard that on any of the audio
- 9:15Speaker 2: books that I had listened to via Audible. I purchased
- 9:21Speaker 2: my audiobook of Valiant Vow on libro dot FM, and
- 9:28Speaker 2: on that version it said at the very end when
- 9:33Speaker 2: it talked about all the credits and everything copyright all that,
- 9:38Speaker 2: it also said, hey, you cannot use this for AI
- 9:41Speaker 2: training and all that. So I thought that was really
- 9:43Speaker 2: really cool.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Yeah, that's really cool. I know a lot of people
- 9:46Speaker 1: are showing to do that. I don't actually see that
- 9:48Speaker 1: in the book, but it does have your standard like
- 9:50Speaker 1: you can't reproduce this material in any way, shape or form.
- 9:56Speaker 1: So yeah, I do really like like that a lot
- 10:00Speaker 1: of that because like Meta has come out and been like, oh,
- 10:02Speaker 1: if artists don't give us permission, then a guy's gonna die.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Good good, yeah, point blank. End of discussion. So the
- 10:18Speaker 1: next bit of news, guys, is from Goldsborough, and if
- 10:24Speaker 1: you collect Goldsborough additions, this one is super pretty. It
- 10:30Speaker 1: is the Trials of the Jedi Goldborough Exclusive addition. And
- 10:35Speaker 1: this like the painted edges flow right in line with
- 10:40Speaker 1: this sunset or sunrise I think it's supposed to be
- 10:44Speaker 1: a sunrise actually is super pretty. And then uh, if
- 10:51Speaker 1: you're on YouTube, I am sharing it on the screen.
- 10:54Speaker 1: But then here's like the hardback, like without the dust
- 10:58Speaker 1: jacket looks, so it's got the higher public symbol, it's
- 11:01Speaker 1: got some nice framing on the outside, and then you've
- 11:03Speaker 1: got a better look at kind of how the painted
- 11:06Speaker 1: edges are going to look.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Do you know what I saw on TikTok today, Katie,
- 11:11Speaker 2: and I immediately thought of you and myself. Yeah, and
- 11:15Speaker 2: for anybody who does also not like their dust jackets
- 11:21Speaker 2: on their books, I saw somebody do a three D
- 11:27Speaker 2: printing of a dust jacket holder so they can still
- 11:32Speaker 2: display the dust jacket like on a shelf. Yeah, I
- 11:37Speaker 2: still have the book on their bookshelf.
- 11:42Speaker 1: I like that. I have been debating like getting somebody
- 11:48Speaker 1: gave me this idea a while ago, but it was
- 11:50Speaker 1: like you get like modge page, and you like cut
- 11:54Speaker 1: out the big parts of the cover, and then you
- 11:58Speaker 1: can like modge page them too, like an acrylic piece,
- 12:01Speaker 1: and then you can make like wall out art out
- 12:03Speaker 1: of it. So I have a bunch of like covers
- 12:06Speaker 1: that I really enjoy sitting in a box waiting for
- 12:09Speaker 1: me to stop crocheting one day and do that. I
- 12:15Speaker 1: don't know if it's ever gonna happen, but.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Yeah, but I really like the edges on this I
- 12:23Speaker 2: love the yellow and the purple. I still don't know
- 12:31Speaker 2: if I'm going to be getting this one in particular.
- 12:37Speaker 2: I want to, I do because as of right now,
- 12:43Speaker 2: I think I only have one special edition of all
- 12:48Speaker 2: of the High Republic, and that was because of Katie.
- 12:51Speaker 2: She shared the link to me when it was available
- 12:56Speaker 2: for The Falling Star, so I have that one, but
- 13:01Speaker 2: I haven't gotten anymore out of the entire run of
- 13:06Speaker 2: The High Republic. I think it would be fitting to
- 13:09Speaker 2: get the last one for this initiative, So I'm just
- 13:14Speaker 2: gonna keep it in my back pocket and just kind
- 13:15Speaker 2: of just probably wait until the last minute to either
- 13:18Speaker 2: get it or decide not to.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Yeah. Now, this one guys, if in Case you are
- 13:24Speaker 1: in Case you have been following Charlesol's newsletter with his
- 13:27Speaker 1: pre order exclusive which you need to get in by
- 13:30Speaker 1: June sixteenth, if you want that postcard with the exclusive
- 13:33Speaker 1: dialogue from the characters, it has to be a US
- 13:37Speaker 1: edition of the book. I don't know if he's including
- 13:41Speaker 1: like ebooks or audiobooks, but this book being a UK
- 13:46Speaker 1: edition does not count for that pre order, So just
- 13:50Speaker 1: be aware because it basically Soul's looking to get bestseller
- 13:54Speaker 1: for New York Times and that's only with us. So
- 13:59Speaker 1: that's what it is, guys. I don't blame him at
- 14:02Speaker 1: all whatsoever for it, like like I want it. Obviously,
- 14:09Speaker 1: my book is pre ordered. I have the pre order
- 14:12Speaker 1: initiative like in and stuff. So yeah, guys, just make
- 14:21Speaker 1: your choices with all the information. I don't know where
- 14:24Speaker 1: that was going. Sorry, my brain is a little frazzled, guys.
- 14:30Speaker 1: I do apologize, okay, guys. So the next bit is
- 14:36Speaker 1: actually the official Star Wars Master of Evil plot description
- 14:40Speaker 1: has been released, and this thing is hefty. I did
- 14:45Speaker 1: put it in here. But Clay, are we reading this
- 14:47Speaker 1: or we did you read it at least so we
- 14:49Speaker 1: could talk about it?
- 14:50Speaker 2: Uh? Yeah, yeah, I read this a while ago.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Actually yeah, when he came out, Yeah.
- 14:55Speaker 2: When it first came out.
- 14:57Speaker 1: All right, y'all, we're going to hit our first ad
- 14:59Speaker 1: break and we will be right back in three two one.
- 15:04Speaker 2: How do you feel about it?
- 15:07Speaker 1: I am definitely intrigued. I feel like this hence potentially
- 15:12Speaker 1: where it is in Charlestol's comic, which we are planning
- 15:17Speaker 1: on talking about before this book comes out, guys, and
- 15:19Speaker 1: kind of doing a big review on that. So everybody
- 15:22Speaker 1: can like kind of have big contacts and whatnot. But
- 15:26Speaker 1: I'm very intrigued, and I think I'm I'm curious to
- 15:33Speaker 1: see if we make it, like any insight from like
- 15:38Speaker 1: Shadow of Sith, like if there's gonna be any easter
- 15:41Speaker 1: eggs like kind of tying the two.
- 15:42Speaker 2: I can very much see a connection between the two,
- 15:49Speaker 2: Like already I can kind of see where they could,
- 15:52Speaker 2: you know, put little crumbs in there. For those of
- 15:57Speaker 2: us who have read Shadows of the Sith, I could
- 16:01Speaker 2: easily see them doing that for sure.
- 16:04Speaker 1: And I do think I have fallen in love a
- 16:09Speaker 1: little bit more with the concept of this guy, because
- 16:12Speaker 1: initially I wasn't in love with this because it's like,
- 16:16Speaker 1: we have plenty of Darth Vader things, but the whole
- 16:22Speaker 1: goal with Revenge of the Sith was he joined the
- 16:24Speaker 1: dark Side to try and defeat Death.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Yep.
- 16:29Speaker 1: And we've never really gotten not from Vader where he
- 16:33Speaker 1: figures out, hey, this isn't all it's cracked up to be,
- 16:37Speaker 1: or whatever may come of this book. So slowly but
- 16:40Speaker 1: surely fallen a little bit more in love with it.
- 16:44Speaker 2: I think it'll be very interesting because of course, like
- 16:49Speaker 2: we know, at the end of Return of the Jedi,
- 16:56Speaker 2: he dies, he becomes one of the Four, and then
- 16:59Speaker 2: of course he becomes a forest ghost, which again very
- 17:06Speaker 2: very debatable in the in the eyes of that of
- 17:10Speaker 2: you know, somebody like Travis Snell. We've we've had these
- 17:15Speaker 2: debates on like is it really something that you have
- 17:18Speaker 2: to train for to become a forest ghost and all
- 17:21Speaker 2: of these other things, and technically by what has been
- 17:27Speaker 2: set down in Cannon, yes, so maybe.
- 17:32Speaker 1: We could hold the answer to why he's a horse ghost.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly if.
- 17:39Speaker 1: This shaman talked about in the description is like, hey,
- 17:45Speaker 1: this is what you need to do to just defeat death,
- 17:48Speaker 1: and he has to come to reckoning with that over
- 17:51Speaker 1: twenty years of like oh what does this mean kind
- 17:56Speaker 1: of thing?
- 17:57Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I can I can see that, and and
- 18:00Speaker 2: I think that's gonna be very very fun because, for one,
- 18:04Speaker 2: I think that there will be a line that uh, oh, shoot,
- 18:11Speaker 2: who's writing this? Oh uh Christopher, Yes, Adam Christopher, Adam Christopher.
- 18:18Speaker 2: I think that Adam Christopher will have to draw a
- 18:22Speaker 2: line because from everything that we have seen literally in
- 18:28Speaker 2: Clone Wars with Yoda and h everything else, I feel
- 18:35Speaker 2: like being one with the Force to become a force Ghost.
- 18:39Speaker 2: You have to be peace of mind, you have to
- 18:42Speaker 2: like it feels more like a light side of the
- 18:45Speaker 2: Force type of ordeal rather than a dark side of
- 18:48Speaker 2: the Force ordeal. So like, I'm gonna be very interested
- 18:52Speaker 2: to see if Adam Christopher draws that line for Darth
- 18:59Speaker 2: Vader and he like totes it, you know, like, oh,
- 19:03Speaker 2: if I really want to survive and I want to
- 19:06Speaker 2: stay alive, I have to do this well.
- 19:09Speaker 1: And especially with how much Christopher has pulled from the
- 19:15Speaker 1: Revenge of the novelization, I really do think he studied
- 19:19Speaker 1: the material well to really get that point across where
- 19:23Speaker 1: it's like, hey, you can do this, but you have
- 19:27Speaker 1: to have peace. And I mean, we know Anakin is
- 19:32Speaker 1: at peace at the end of Return of the Jedi, So.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I can't.
- 19:39Speaker 1: I'm excited to.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Be this one.
- 19:41Speaker 1: This one is out the day after my birthday, I think,
- 19:45Speaker 1: October fourteenth. So very excited. So the next one completely
- 19:53Speaker 1: shocked us. Yeah, or at least it shocks me because
- 19:58Speaker 1: you and I haven't really talked about this one at all.
- 20:00Speaker 2: No, we haven't. We I think we were waiting for
- 20:03Speaker 2: an episode like this that we could just kind of
- 20:05Speaker 2: sit down and talk about it. First, I will say this,
- 20:10Speaker 2: I am not familiar with this author whatsoever. I had
- 20:14Speaker 2: to look him up and I did recognize because, of course,
- 20:21Speaker 2: in the last three months, well actually in the last
- 20:24Speaker 2: like four months, I have been going to Barnes and
- 20:27Speaker 2: Noble and my local bookstore almost like once a week,
- 20:34Speaker 2: so I recognize the book covers that he has written for.
- 20:40Speaker 2: But I've never read any of his stuff, because he,
- 20:43Speaker 2: I believe is a solely like young adult author or
- 20:50Speaker 2: like even middle grade I think, because that everything that
- 20:53Speaker 2: I see from him looks very yeah, middle grade.
- 20:58Speaker 1: It looks like a lot of what he's written is
- 21:04Speaker 1: he's done a lot with like rick Yordon presents. So
- 21:07Speaker 1: Tristan Strong is like his main character. And I don't
- 21:12Speaker 1: know if that's like one of like the mythology books.
- 21:15Speaker 1: It potentially is, because that's typically what rick Ridin does. Yeah, So,
- 21:23Speaker 1: like it looks like the first one is Punches a
- 21:26Speaker 1: Hole in the Sky after accidentally tearing a hole between
- 21:29Speaker 1: Earth and Okay, Tristan must seek the trickster God, a
- 21:32Speaker 1: Nazi in order to mend the risk. So he's got
- 21:35Speaker 1: a couple of books with Rick Ryerdon and then it
- 21:39Speaker 1: looks like maybe like some manga type things, and then yeah,
- 21:44Speaker 1: some middle grade young adult books. So I'm excited by this.
- 21:49Speaker 1: I love seeing new blood come to Star Wars. He's
- 21:53Speaker 1: a New York Times bestselling author, like but super excited
- 21:58Speaker 1: about me.
- 21:59Speaker 2: The subject matter is a little bit interesting as well,
- 22:03Speaker 2: because that's one thing that we haven't really talked about. Uh.
- 22:06Speaker 2: It is called the Last Order. Have you said the
- 22:10Speaker 2: author's name, No, it's Quam or kwame. How would you
- 22:17Speaker 2: pronounce that?
- 22:18Speaker 1: I was actually gonna go quame, But that's maybe my
- 22:22Speaker 1: Spanish lessons coming against strong. It could definitely be quam. Uh.
- 22:27Speaker 1: Membalia is how I pronounced the last name. We're gonna
- 22:31Speaker 1: have to look that up for the review.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's Quame Embalia and it is a uh.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Oh, here's a pronunciation guide on his website.
- 22:46Speaker 2: Okay, cool.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Membalia.
- 22:59Speaker 2: Okay, it is in Balia. Okay, yep. Uh it is
- 23:05Speaker 2: a like I said, uh, it is called uh the
- 23:10Speaker 2: Last Order and we get a Finn and Jina.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Yep, this is the cover. Guys.
- 23:26Speaker 2: I think that is really really cool. Now. Of course,
- 23:32Speaker 2: a lot of people are going to probably talk about
- 23:35Speaker 2: the fact that like, oh, like we would much rather
- 23:40Speaker 2: see like a Finn Jedi story in four story blah
- 23:43Speaker 2: blah blah. I really like this because the concept of
- 23:54Speaker 2: this is that Finn and Jaina are is it like
- 24:04Speaker 2: they they so guys.
- 24:08Speaker 1: This book is about Uh, Finn and Jena after the
- 24:12Speaker 1: Resistance risk use a ship full of young passengers who
- 24:15Speaker 1: have been kidnapped by the First Order. Yeah, I realized
- 24:18Speaker 1: I didn't put the description down here. Sorry, I screwed you.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I was like, no, I was. I was like
- 24:23Speaker 2: trying to get to the description, and literally right when
- 24:26Speaker 2: you started talking, I got to it. Im going.
- 24:30Speaker 1: It says, as Finn and Jena is set up to
- 24:33Speaker 1: find the First Order officer responsible before he can endanger
- 24:36Speaker 1: any more children, the two former stormtroopers must wrestle with
- 24:40Speaker 1: their own complicated paths as soldiers of the Aggressive regime
- 24:45Speaker 1: and Balia Uh said about the book, he said, being
- 24:51Speaker 1: able to work with Finn, who I think if I
- 24:53Speaker 1: had to write a character, Finn is the type of
- 24:55Speaker 1: character that I like to write, someone who can be
- 24:58Speaker 1: silly and irreverent at times and also serious and loyal
- 25:02Speaker 1: and dedicated to his friends, allies, and family. And just
- 25:05Speaker 1: being able to work with Jana is amazing. It's a dream.
- 25:09Speaker 1: So I'm super excited for this. Like I love the cover,
- 25:15Speaker 1: just bringing that back up because I had taken it
- 25:17Speaker 1: down guys, but this it will it. It's it feels
- 25:24Speaker 1: really awesome and definitely I feel like kind of has
- 25:27Speaker 1: some cultural references with like the artwork and everything. The
- 25:32Speaker 1: artwork is by Kim Thompson and Jason Woo. Oh my gosh,
- 25:38Speaker 1: how would you pronounce his last name?
- 25:40Speaker 2: Clay? Uh? Jason wah Taos what? How Wicks?
- 25:52Speaker 1: What tows?
- 25:53Speaker 2: What? Tao Wicks? It's t ic z. Yeah, that's I
- 26:01Speaker 2: don't know how to pronounce that one.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Sorry, We're sorry, Jason, we apologize.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Well, it says here the flowers on the cover are
- 26:12Speaker 2: directly connected to one of the novel's plots and how
- 26:15Speaker 2: they now tie into one of his age one of
- 26:20Speaker 2: his age old traditions for Imbalia.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Oh. So I'm super excited about this. This is this
- 26:32Speaker 1: is being published in connection with the Force Awakens tenth anniversary,
- 26:39Speaker 1: so I'm I'm super pumped. This is going to be
- 26:42Speaker 1: our first like big piece post the rest of Skywalker.
- 26:48Speaker 1: So I'm excited.
- 26:51Speaker 2: I'm very excited. I will say this, there was a
- 26:54Speaker 2: question of will we see other sequel trilogy characters in
- 26:58Speaker 2: the Last World, He said something about me is I
- 27:04Speaker 2: like a cast. I love a good cast of characters
- 27:06Speaker 2: because it allows writers and authors to play off of tension, conflict,
- 27:10Speaker 2: and differences. Everyone has different opinions, and it's a way
- 27:13Speaker 2: to bring up subtle obstacles beyond the main plot points
- 27:17Speaker 2: that the characters are progressing through. I love a good
- 27:20Speaker 2: cast in this book. Without giving any spoilers, it's a
- 27:23Speaker 2: great way to just show how even amongst troopers who
- 27:27Speaker 2: are trained the same way, who eat the same way,
- 27:29Speaker 2: and who are instructed to act and perform the same way,
- 27:33Speaker 2: there are all these different these differences subtly drastically, and
- 27:39Speaker 2: they can they come into play. You really lean into
- 27:43Speaker 2: them and play off of them. So it's great to
- 27:45Speaker 2: just be able to have a big group of characters
- 27:48Speaker 2: and explore a little bit more into their daily lives
- 27:51Speaker 2: and the arguments they would get into. The fun thing
- 27:55Speaker 2: that the fund's, the fun things they would talk about,
- 28:00Speaker 2: the after mission debriefs that they would absolutely complain about.
- 28:04Speaker 2: It's just fun to get into that. I like how
- 28:07Speaker 2: he answered the question without answering the question.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Yeah, like I would imagine there's going to be like
- 28:14Speaker 1: a little bit of pull, especially in the beginning when
- 28:17Speaker 1: the Resistance takes down that ship. I can't imagine you'd
- 28:21Speaker 1: take out the general of the Resistance at this point
- 28:24Speaker 1: because we don't know how the government is going to
- 28:29Speaker 1: kind of like play out after this. And this is
- 28:32Speaker 1: said to take place literally days after the Rise of Skywalkers,
- 28:37Speaker 1: so really there's no putting together a government like that
- 28:41Speaker 1: quickly unless you had it already in the works, which,
- 28:44Speaker 1: especially with the Force awakens, we know Housny and Prime,
- 28:48Speaker 1: the new Republic government was fully taken out at that point,
- 28:52Speaker 1: so this is literally rebuilding from scratch.
- 28:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I like this concept. I like the idea. Uh.
- 29:02Speaker 2: I am gonna be very interested in the conversations that
- 29:06Speaker 2: Jana and Finn have to know that they are literally, uh,
- 29:15Speaker 2: the same side of the same coin, just in different
- 29:18Speaker 2: places in the galaxy. I think is very fun. And
- 29:24Speaker 2: you know what this what this really means for uh,
- 29:31Speaker 2: you know other troopers that defect, you know, immediately after
- 29:36Speaker 2: the events of uh episode nine, right, yep, So I
- 29:42Speaker 2: think that's gonna be fun. But yeah, really excited.
- 29:47Speaker 1: One hundred percent this book. Guys will be out October
- 29:50Speaker 1: twenty first, so shortly after Master Evil. Wait does Master?
- 29:58Speaker 1: I thought maybe back s People comes out in November.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Sorry, I think you're right. Let me double check that we're.
- 30:06Speaker 1: Gonna go into our second ad break and we'll be
- 30:10Speaker 1: right back.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Master reveals November eleventh. I'm so sorry, guys. I don't
- 30:15Speaker 1: know why I said it came out the day after
- 30:17Speaker 1: my birthday, brain fuzz, you know, oh, you know what
- 30:23Speaker 1: I was thinking about was the Rise of Skywalker, the
- 30:27Speaker 1: Rise of Skylalker, Revenge of the Sith novelization, fancy edition.
- 30:34Speaker 2: Guys, we have a lot of reading in the fall.
- 30:39Speaker 2: It's going to be insane. Yeah.
- 30:46Speaker 1: We have a nice little break and then October hits.
- 30:49Speaker 2: And it's like, yeah, so it's gonna be insane.
- 30:55Speaker 1: H We appreciate Random House Worlds and sometimes just me
- 30:59Speaker 1: for sending us advanced readers copies. It makes our lives
- 31:02Speaker 1: a lot easier. Yes, Okay, So for the next bit
- 31:09Speaker 1: of news, which isn't like incredible news, but we did
- 31:16Speaker 1: get the finalized cover for the act, like the Crystal Crown.
- 31:26Speaker 1: I'm gonna be honest, I kind of liked the temporary
- 31:29Speaker 1: cover that we go.
- 31:30Speaker 2: I was gonna. I was gonna ask you, how do
- 31:32Speaker 2: you feel about the uh kind of pastel paint that
- 31:41Speaker 2: we get compared to UH Way Seeker, which was more
- 31:46Speaker 2: of an actual like photo photoshop type of cover. How
- 31:51Speaker 2: do you feel about that?
- 31:53Speaker 1: Okay, so you're not really talking about the colors. You're
- 31:55Speaker 1: just talking about like the paint, like the painting look
- 31:58Speaker 1: versus the photos. Yeah, yeah, I don't. I wouldn't necessarily
- 32:06Speaker 1: mind the paint job because like we see in the
- 32:11Speaker 1: last order book cover for instance, that can look really good.
- 32:15Speaker 1: In some cases, this looks garbage it. I don't know
- 32:22Speaker 1: why they chose when Oh my gosh, and I can't
- 32:25Speaker 1: even remember the character's names, Jord and Jackie. Yeah, Jord
- 32:31Speaker 1: and Jackie are two opposite ends of the spectrum in
- 32:34Speaker 1: skin color like this like half shadow look on your
- 32:40Speaker 1: looks awful, and Jackie, like Jackie's doesn't look like she
- 32:46Speaker 1: has the same effect on her face. So I don't
- 32:49Speaker 1: know why they chose to do this.
- 32:52Speaker 2: I I'm more questioning why the like green greenish blue background.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Okay, I dig that. It's like the pint drop on
- 33:08Speaker 1: the characters that really bugs me in this.
- 33:14Speaker 2: I could see that I could see that. Yeah. Well,
- 33:18Speaker 2: for one, I will say this, you look at the lightsabers,
- 33:24Speaker 2: Jackie does not have the same effect because the lightsaber
- 33:27Speaker 2: is so close to her face, so you see a
- 33:30Speaker 2: little bit of shadow, but not as heavy as a shadow.
- 33:34Speaker 2: But yeah, I think that if you wanted to go
- 33:38Speaker 2: this route, I think the background needed to be darker
- 33:43Speaker 2: instead of like a green. You probably should have gone
- 33:46Speaker 2: like full black and gray, yeah, to really have them
- 33:51Speaker 2: kind of stand out. Yeah, but yeah, I I do
- 33:58Speaker 2: kind of wish we got the placeholder cover instead.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay, so at least we're on the same page.
- 34:09Speaker 1: But guys, that book is going to be out. It's
- 34:15Speaker 1: your sumwhere July twenty ninth is when you guys can
- 34:19Speaker 1: expect that book.
- 34:22Speaker 2: Oh that might be our next review Actor Trials though, Yeah, yeah.
- 34:28Speaker 1: Who knows, because we also have to fit Revenge of
- 34:30Speaker 1: the Sith in here somewhere, because we got to talk
- 34:33Speaker 1: about like the actual story with Revenge of the Sif too.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, but our next new book, yes, yeah, all right,
- 34:48Speaker 1: so do you want to go ahead and talk you
- 34:51Speaker 1: talk about the Respawn news that we have here.
- 34:56Speaker 2: Yes. So Respawn, of course is the studio uh Respond
- 35:02Speaker 2: Entertainment that is, of course, the ones who created the
- 35:09Speaker 2: Jedi series for PlayStation Jedi, Yeah, Fallen Order, Jedi Survivor.
- 35:19Speaker 2: They have announced that they are taking a more deeper
- 35:28Speaker 2: direction towards building new stories, and like all of this
- 35:35Speaker 2: other stuff, they're they're redirecting a lot of their current work,
- 35:39Speaker 2: but they did say we are still working on the
- 35:44Speaker 2: third story for the Jedi series. In their actual press release,
- 35:52Speaker 2: it says at Respond, bold ideas, create, creative risk, and
- 35:56Speaker 2: passionate storytelling have always defined who we are. The spirit
- 36:00Speaker 2: has carried us through incredible heights and sometimes through difficult
- 36:04Speaker 2: changes too. As we shape, as we sharpen our focus
- 36:08Speaker 2: to the future. We've made the decision to step away
- 36:10Speaker 2: from two early stage incubation projects and make some targeted
- 36:15Speaker 2: team adjustments across APEX Legends, which is their very big,
- 36:21Speaker 2: very popular first person shooter game, and Star Wars Jedi.
- 36:25Speaker 2: These decisions aren't easy, and we are deeply grateful to
- 36:29Speaker 2: every teammate affected. Their creativity and contributions have helped rebuild
- 36:34Speaker 2: Respond into what it is today. We're offering meaningful support
- 36:38Speaker 2: to those impacted, including exploring new opportunities within EA. There's
- 36:44Speaker 2: a lot of things happening at AEA. This was actually
- 36:48Speaker 2: announced almost a month ago, and even today another EA
- 36:54Speaker 2: game was canceled, that being Black Panther with another studio
- 37:00Speaker 2: actually shutting down. So I I know that this trilogy
- 37:11Speaker 2: of games, because they did say it was gonna be
- 37:14Speaker 2: a trilogy, is popular, It has a fan base. It
- 37:20Speaker 2: brought Star Wars back to like the main console. I
- 37:27Speaker 2: have hope that this will not just die off. Of course,
- 37:33Speaker 2: there's you know, so many people that are like, oh,
- 37:36Speaker 2: but uh, Kotor is still you know, hanging on by
- 37:39Speaker 2: a thread. We're still gonna see the remake. We're still
- 37:42Speaker 2: gonna see it. I have lost all hope into that.
- 37:46Speaker 2: I know for a fact in my heart that this
- 37:52Speaker 2: Jedi trilogy will be completed, So I'm looking forward to it.
- 37:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I hate it for video game developers, Like it's
- 38:03Speaker 1: always tough as a video game developer. Is why I
- 38:06Speaker 1: didn't go into that career path, is because the career
- 38:09Speaker 1: field is just so chaotic. Yeah, it really is, and
- 38:13Speaker 1: it really sucks for those developers. This is that, I
- 38:17Speaker 1: don't know if you can call it the nicest like
- 38:20Speaker 1: layoff announcement where they've said like, oh, yeah, we're gonna
- 38:22Speaker 1: make sure they get some support, Like I feel like
- 38:26Speaker 1: it's the pair minimum you can do.
- 38:28Speaker 2: But the best thing about this, though with a grain
- 38:33Speaker 2: of salt, of course, is the fact that this is
- 38:36Speaker 2: just like an internal decision. So it's like, hey, our
- 38:41Speaker 2: employee of teams that were working on this, they are
- 38:44Speaker 2: no longer going to work on that. They're going to
- 38:47Speaker 2: join our other team working on these two other projects.
- 38:50Speaker 2: So it's not like, hey, you get.
- 38:52Speaker 1: It's not like a layoff layoff exactly.
- 38:57Speaker 2: There will probably be some which we have not even
- 39:02Speaker 2: really seen, because even somebody here on the post has translation,
- 39:08Speaker 2: we're firing a bunch of developers to meet quarterly projections
- 39:12Speaker 2: for our shareholders. They were smart enough to not say
- 39:18Speaker 2: anything about actual layoffs, so I might be totally mistaken,
- 39:24Speaker 2: but the way that they were wording it in this
- 39:27Speaker 2: post seemed like they were adjusting some of these teams
- 39:33Speaker 2: to work on other projects. Yeah, so we'll see. It
- 39:38Speaker 2: has been a month since that decision was made, or
- 39:41Speaker 2: since that post was made, so I feel like we
- 39:44Speaker 2: would have heard if there was a big push for
- 39:50Speaker 2: for layoffs. Yeah.
- 39:54Speaker 1: I think so too. So that brings us to kind
- 39:59Speaker 1: of like our relative main topic for the night. Ryan
- 40:04Speaker 1: Johnson is doing interviews currently for his upcoming season two
- 40:12Speaker 1: poker Face on Peacock, and so this interview was done
- 40:18Speaker 1: with Independent and one of the questions, of course, was
- 40:23Speaker 1: related to his Star Wars movie trilogy that got announced
- 40:28Speaker 1: and has never come to be, and so there was
- 40:33Speaker 1: kind of two responses that he gave. So the first
- 40:36Speaker 1: one was about the discourse surrounding his The Last Jedi movie,
- 40:42Speaker 1: and he said, I always want to make this clear,
- 40:43Speaker 1: It's not like I've gone through a living hell or something.
- 40:46Speaker 1: I've had the kind of experience that you can only
- 40:48Speaker 1: dream about as a filmmaker. I was in my twenties
- 40:51Speaker 1: when the Prequels came out. I mean, you talk about
- 40:56Speaker 1: wars between Star Wars fans, we definitely experienced our own
- 41:01Speaker 1: that the Prequels was World War One and this The
- 41:04Speaker 1: Last Jedi was World War Two. But I feel like
- 41:07Speaker 1: I've had such a lovely, a wonderful, lovely, positive experience
- 41:11Speaker 1: with the fans during the course of it. That's left
- 41:14Speaker 1: me a bigger Star Wars fan than I ever was,
- 41:16Speaker 1: which is really something because I grew up with it
- 41:18Speaker 1: as the bedrock of my childhood. I think this is
- 41:21Speaker 1: a really good neutral response obviously, like things don't always
- 41:28Speaker 1: go according to plan, but he didn't hate on anybody,
- 41:34Speaker 1: and he kind of shouted out the people that are
- 41:37Speaker 1: really a core fan base of the movie.
- 41:41Speaker 2: Yeah. So the question then becomes.
- 41:47Speaker 1: What happened to your Star Wars trilogy? And the answer was.
- 41:50Speaker 2: Clay Knives naives Elle happened? Guys like you like this
- 41:58Speaker 2: is the easy answer ever for Ryan Johnson, Guys, I
- 42:05Speaker 2: am lucky enough to like both. I like Knives Out,
- 42:09Speaker 2: I like Star Wars, and hey, people need to make
- 42:14Speaker 2: a living. So when a studio like or a company
- 42:20Speaker 2: an entity like Netflix at the time even and I
- 42:23Speaker 2: believe still technically kind of still is hans you basically
- 42:29Speaker 2: a blank check and like, hey, we liked your movie,
- 42:33Speaker 2: what if you did it just for Netflix? You take that.
- 42:39Speaker 2: You take that blank.
- 42:40Speaker 1: Check, You take the five dollars plus the production punchet.
- 42:46Speaker 3: Yeah, like it's it's it is so good and plus
- 42:51Speaker 3: If anything, guys, what we need to remember is directors
- 42:59Speaker 3: make relationationships with the cast.
- 43:03Speaker 2: And crew that they work with. And so you could
- 43:08Speaker 2: really just see, Hey, out of all the Knives Out movies,
- 43:13Speaker 2: who would I like to see in Ryan Johnson's trilogy,
- 43:16Speaker 2: you know, like that's the way I like to look
- 43:18Speaker 2: at it. Now again, will it ever happen? Who knows?
- 43:25Speaker 1: Who knows what about Chris Evans.
- 43:31Speaker 2: I've debated it. I've thought about it. I really have,
- 43:34Speaker 2: because there's so there's actually there is a lot of
- 43:38Speaker 2: MCU actors that have said, oh, I would love to
- 43:41Speaker 2: be in a Star Wars movie. Brae Larsen, Chris Evans,
- 43:45Speaker 2: I believe has actually said that he would be down.
- 43:52Speaker 2: I I don't know. I will say this if I
- 43:58Speaker 2: was okay, because at one point we were both okay
- 44:03Speaker 2: with O Ryan Reynolds being in a Star Wars movie.
- 44:07Speaker 2: We can't say we are not okay with Chris Evans
- 44:10Speaker 2: being in a Star Wars movie.
- 44:13Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely you can't.
- 44:16Speaker 2: So I I would dig it. I think that at
- 44:26Speaker 2: this point. Here's the funny thing. When I was a
- 44:32Speaker 2: big supporter of the Snyder cut, because it happened, it's over.
- 44:39Speaker 2: I got what I wanted. I could walk away from it.
- 44:44Speaker 2: One of my best friends told me every day, it's
- 44:47Speaker 2: a pipe dream. It's a pipe dream. It's a pipe dream.
- 44:49Speaker 2: You're never gonna get it. Stop wishing for this thing
- 44:52Speaker 2: you're never gonna get it, and guess what, I got it.
- 44:55Speaker 2: I can watch it whenever I want on HBO Max
- 44:58Speaker 2: as long as they keep it there, and.
- 45:01Speaker 1: You mean Max until this weekend.
- 45:04Speaker 2: No, it's HBO Max. So everybody called that a pipe tree.
- 45:14Speaker 2: I feel like people give the same kind of energy
- 45:18Speaker 2: towards Ryan Johnson's trilogy.
- 45:20Speaker 1: And we're about to jump into our third ad, y'all.
- 45:24Speaker 1: We promise we'll be right back. We promise.
- 45:27Speaker 2: Maybe it's not so much a pipe tree, because hell,
- 45:30Speaker 2: we've seen almost the impossible happen with the Snyder cut,
- 45:34Speaker 2: so yeah, I think anything is possible.
- 45:38Speaker 1: And realistically, he's not booked for anything else for after
- 45:43Speaker 1: this third Knives Out movie, which is supposed to be
- 45:46Speaker 1: coming out this year. He's pretty pissed off with Netflix apparently, yeah,
- 45:54Speaker 1: because they don't want to release this one to theaters,
- 46:01Speaker 1: so they just want to put it on Netflix. So
- 46:05Speaker 1: he and Daniel Craiger really pissed off because basically they
- 46:12Speaker 1: got it verbally. Oh yeah, we'll definitely release this in theaters,
- 46:21Speaker 1: so we'll see what happens. But guys, there is one
- 46:26Speaker 1: more thing that I forgot to put on the show notes,
- 46:28Speaker 1: And I told Clay, Oh, I tried to put this
- 46:29Speaker 1: on the show notes. I'm gonna put it on the
- 46:30Speaker 1: show notes. And I still put it on the show
- 46:32Speaker 1: notes because talking about Brian Reynolds reminded me of this.
- 46:36Speaker 1: So Ryan Reynolds, in an interview with I can't remember
- 46:42Speaker 1: who this podcast was with, said that he pitched an
- 46:46Speaker 1: R rated Star Wars project. It doesn't have to be
- 46:50Speaker 1: overt A plus characters. There's a wide range of characters
- 46:54Speaker 1: you could use. And I don't mean R rated to
- 46:56Speaker 1: be vulgar. Are rated as a trojan horse for emotion.
- 47:03Speaker 2: Yeah. And when Katie sent this to me, because I
- 47:07Speaker 2: got this when Twitter was basically broken, we were a
- 47:13Speaker 2: lot of us were sharing things via text and whatnot,
- 47:17Speaker 2: I simply said, I don't know how I feel about it,
- 47:21Speaker 2: but I don't hate it because there can be a
- 47:30Speaker 2: rated R movie because like you look at all rated
- 47:35Speaker 2: AR movies, there is a vast difference between all of them.
- 47:40Speaker 2: You can very much group them together in group some
- 47:45Speaker 2: of them in different categories of rated AR. But when
- 47:49Speaker 2: he says RADEDAR, I'm not thinking, Oh, he just wants
- 47:52Speaker 2: to make a dead pull inside of Star Wars. No,
- 47:55Speaker 2: that's not what I'm thinking. What I'm thinking more of
- 48:00Speaker 2: is a of course darker story, uh more, probably more
- 48:09Speaker 2: violence to be fair. So it's Star Wars guys, like, yeah,
- 48:19Speaker 2: I've seen plenty of World War Two movies that are
- 48:23Speaker 2: rated R.
- 48:23Speaker 1: Like yeah, it's completely plausible for there to be an
- 48:29Speaker 1: R rated Star Wars movie. Like, yes, Star Wars is
- 48:32Speaker 1: four kids, but like that was always the intent, right,
- 48:37Speaker 1: is that Star Wars is four kids? But kids grow
- 48:41Speaker 1: up and you want to make sure that you hold
- 48:43Speaker 1: on to an audience and you're not just sticking with
- 48:46Speaker 1: one audience or another. So you don't want to just
- 48:50Speaker 1: make things for the forty to sixty year old category.
- 48:55Speaker 1: You want to make things for the twenty to forty
- 48:58Speaker 1: year olds, the forty to six year old. It's like
- 49:00Speaker 1: it's like.
- 49:01Speaker 2: I would even argue, Katie that and or should have
- 49:07Speaker 2: been rased, should have been R rated, and it was
- 49:11Speaker 2: made for the kids that grew up with the prequel trilogy.
- 49:17Speaker 1: Yeah, one hundred percent, Like you tortured people, you insinuated's
- 49:24Speaker 1: like sexual assault, like or you didn't insinuate, you did
- 49:30Speaker 1: start a sexual assault, Like this is one hundred percent
- 49:34Speaker 1: ARP rated. Like a lot of people are like, wow,
- 49:36Speaker 1: I can't believe they put that on Disney Plus, like
- 49:39Speaker 1: so at the end of the day and or one
- 49:42Speaker 1: hundred percent are rated. It doesn't have to be rated
- 49:45Speaker 1: because it's on a streaming service, but that is one
- 49:49Speaker 1: hundred percent R rated. So yeah, it's happened. It's clear.
- 49:57Speaker 1: It doesn't have to be just vulgar words here and there,
- 50:01Speaker 1: like sex jokes, nothing like. It can be done. It
- 50:05Speaker 1: has been done. It's completely plausible. I definitely think this
- 50:12Speaker 1: is just taken the wrong way, like you said, because
- 50:14Speaker 1: Reynolds is Deadpool and so people are like, oh, yeah,
- 50:17Speaker 1: Deadpool and Star Wars, Like, no, that wasn't the intent here,
- 50:21Speaker 1: I think. So, all right, so shall we talk about
- 50:28Speaker 1: a value into vowel? Yes, and guys, we are going
- 50:34Speaker 1: to be going more in depth with spoilers in this
- 50:36Speaker 1: because this has been out for a month and there's
- 50:38Speaker 1: something in the ending that I really want to talk about.
- 50:42Speaker 1: But this has been out for a month, so it's
- 50:43Speaker 1: not like we're like, you experience everything like you've had
- 50:48Speaker 1: time to experience this hopefully, because this is a really
- 50:51Speaker 1: good book. This was a really good way to finish
- 50:53Speaker 1: out the middle grade books in my opinion.
- 50:56Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that being said, I do have a hot
- 51:04Speaker 2: take you. Yes, this is the lowest of the low
- 51:15Speaker 2: on my tier list for high Republic. And the reason
- 51:21Speaker 2: why I say that not because it was not a
- 51:24Speaker 2: good book. I'm saying and this is again a hot take.
- 51:30Speaker 2: You take a valiant vow out of the timeline, nothing changes. Yeah,
- 51:44Speaker 2: there is nothing in this book that moves the needle.
- 51:50Speaker 2: Now again, I for any of our usual listeners slash viewers,
- 51:59Speaker 2: I have one want in all of Star Wars. I
- 52:06Speaker 2: want my happy ending. Guys, That's what this book is.
- 52:12Speaker 2: This book is my happy ending.
- 52:16Speaker 1: It is your happy ending.
- 52:18Speaker 2: This is literally everything that I have asked for.
- 52:23Speaker 1: But I am going to hardcore disagree with you really
- 52:28Speaker 1: not like is like if you don't if you change
- 52:33Speaker 1: this or if you take this out, nothing matters in
- 52:36Speaker 1: the grand scheme of things, which I do disagree with
- 52:39Speaker 1: because Amory was one of our founding characters despite him
- 52:43Speaker 1: being sidelined in Phase three. But I feel like, oh,
- 52:50Speaker 1: Beware the Nameless. You could realistically say the same thing
- 52:54Speaker 1: and then be where the Nameless was the second Phase
- 52:58Speaker 1: three book and realistically and I enjoyed Race to Crashpoint Tower,
- 53:06Speaker 1: but realistically you could say the same thing about race
- 53:08Speaker 1: to Crash Point Tower. Yeah, so I feel like these
- 53:14Speaker 1: are just meant a supplemental aspects, and especially with what
- 53:18Speaker 1: we got for Way Seeker, this kind of tells you
- 53:21Speaker 1: where Vernestra ended up, because I'm sure the epilogue Endless
- 53:25Speaker 1: with Emory and Teptep and Vernestra all takes place like
- 53:30Speaker 1: after the Nihill have been taken care of and everything.
- 53:35Speaker 1: So the epilogue gets you closer to Way Seeker. It
- 53:39Speaker 1: gives you more information about him because we know like
- 53:42Speaker 1: he goes on to become this legendary Jedi philosopher takes
- 53:46Speaker 1: the Way Seeker, so it kind of just gets you there.
- 53:50Speaker 1: But these are the middle grade books, I feel like
- 53:53Speaker 1: have always been more supplemental, and I feel like with Vernestra,
- 53:58Speaker 1: she was the the character for the middle grade books
- 54:03Speaker 1: in Phase one and kind of the story group wentten said,
- 54:07Speaker 1: you know, she's too important to just put her in
- 54:12Speaker 1: the middle grade books. Yeah, and so they rose her
- 54:15Speaker 1: out of those intentionally, but then they needed somebody to
- 54:21Speaker 1: pick up the slacks, which is where you get Escape
- 54:23Speaker 1: from Valla with more from Ram and the Padawans and
- 54:27Speaker 1: introducing Tep Tep and everything. So that way you can
- 54:30Speaker 1: get Beware the Nameless and this is more just a
- 54:33Speaker 1: finishing of Tep Tep story.
- 54:36Speaker 2: Now, Uh, who is the character that we got in? Oh? Shoot,
- 54:54Speaker 2: what was that book? It's the I think it was
- 54:57Speaker 2: the first a Escape from Below? It was killed or
- 55:06Speaker 2: not killed or uh not? Uh not Ram there was?
- 55:14Speaker 1: Is it the is it the pod of on that
- 55:16Speaker 1: that lite stays on Valo? Yes, so that kid is
- 55:21Speaker 1: in the Higher Republic Adventure.
- 55:25Speaker 2: I think that starting his story in a middle grade.
- 55:38Speaker 1: And then finishing out in the comics sucks.
- 55:41Speaker 2: I think it does suck.
- 55:44Speaker 1: Uh because again it's like it's one thing if it's
- 55:48Speaker 1: like Vernessa where she's like constantly crossing over into things,
- 55:53Speaker 1: but then it's another thing to go, oh yes, it's
- 55:56Speaker 1: again going back to the issue that we've had with
- 55:58Speaker 1: Face for the entire time. It all feels like it's
- 56:02Speaker 1: supposed to be connected, whereas I'm not getting a complete
- 56:06Speaker 1: story start to finish because Tep Tep doesn't is not
- 56:10Speaker 1: the starring character. Teptup feels like the starring character in
- 56:13Speaker 1: books two and three other middle grade books, but is
- 56:15Speaker 1: more of a supporting character in book one. And I know,
- 56:19Speaker 1: like you had to have somebody introduce her into it.
- 56:24Speaker 1: But also Gavy feels like the main character alongside Ram
- 56:28Speaker 1: in book one, Escape from Ballot versus Teptep, which is
- 56:33Speaker 1: I feel like if you had flipped things around and
- 56:38Speaker 1: because it just it struggles.
- 56:40Speaker 2: Yeah. And then Kelda was moved to what feels like
- 56:44Speaker 2: just the audible original. Yeah, Like we we get most
- 56:50Speaker 2: of his story in there, and we do see him
- 56:54Speaker 2: in Beware the Nameless, but he is literally nowhere to
- 56:57Speaker 2: be seen in this book. And it like Keldo and
- 57:03Speaker 2: Tip Tip were inseparable in every story and then all
- 57:08Speaker 2: of a sudden, we just get Tip Tap just randomly, Like, Yeah,
- 57:14Speaker 2: not getting Keldo felt like a weird choice.
- 57:18Speaker 1: Yeah. And one of the things that I told you
- 57:21Speaker 1: about when I had first started this was I was like,
- 57:27Speaker 1: when did the Storm Wall come down? Because that's talked
- 57:31Speaker 1: about a lot in the beginning and a lot at
- 57:34Speaker 1: the end, and it's like, wait, when did that come down?
- 57:38Speaker 1: Because I've read everything except the comics and Clan I
- 57:42Speaker 1: both had to do some googling to figure out, Oh,
- 57:44Speaker 1: that happens in the Higher Republic Adventures issue number sixteen,
- 57:50Speaker 1: And it's like the storm Wall was built in a comic, sure,
- 57:57Speaker 1: but it was a Marvel comic and now you're it's
- 58:00Speaker 1: been like the focal point of Phase three stuff.
- 58:05Speaker 2: It's okay, So I just got this in my head
- 58:08Speaker 2: and it kind of disgusts me a little bit. One thing,
- 58:14Speaker 2: and I know that you only really collect Star Wars comics,
- 58:21Speaker 2: so it's not really something that you have to deal
- 58:25Speaker 2: with a whole lot. But with most of DC and
- 58:34Speaker 2: most of Marvel, like event books for superhero comics, like
- 58:39Speaker 2: Marvel is really bad at this, So it feels like
- 58:42Speaker 2: this is probably why there was a decision to do
- 58:44Speaker 2: something like this. There was an event once that I
- 58:51Speaker 2: think just ended like a year or two ago for
- 58:54Speaker 2: Marvel that had a total of fifteen d plus single
- 59:02Speaker 2: issues that ranged for multiple different titles. So there was
- 59:12Speaker 2: the main title which was only like six issues, but
- 59:16Speaker 2: then there was like other miniseries that tied into it,
- 59:20Speaker 2: other ongoing series that tight into it. And so with
- 59:25Speaker 2: something like this again the conversation of oh, you don't
- 59:30Speaker 2: have to read everything to get this story. Now you do.
- 59:37Speaker 2: Now again, you don't need to. But when you're invested
- 59:44Speaker 2: like us and we know the storm Wall is a
- 59:47Speaker 2: very big talking point in the Air of Darkness, the well,
- 59:55Speaker 2: all of Phase three, all of every single Phase three
- 59:59Speaker 2: physical book novel that has come out, has mentioned the
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: storm Wall at least once, and for you to just
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: randomly come in and be like, hey, the storm Wall's down.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: Yeah, especially.
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: Like and I don't I don't know when volume sixteen
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: or issue sixteen came out for the Higher Republic Adventures.
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: It's just it feels cheating because like I've read up
- 1:00:27Speaker 4: to I think it's issue twelve or no issue eleven
- 1:00:32Speaker 4: with the Higher Republic Adventures Volume three, and like the
- 1:00:38Speaker 4: storm Wall is mentioned just in the fact that Youriyadu
- 1:00:42Speaker 4: gets moved behind the storm Wall, basically, like that's it.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: It's not like a great point of factor or anything.
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: So it's and I know, like I get why it
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: happened in the Higher Republic Adventures because we know Marchion
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: Rowe is running it from the Gays Electric and Marchion
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: Roe is going to the Battle of Iriadu. But it's
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: just super frustrating to see kind of how things have
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: been batted around so much.
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: In this The storm Wall fell in issue sixteen, which
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: came out March nineteenth, twenty twenty five, and this should.
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: Be our final ad break. So y'all thanks for bearing
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: with us. We appreciate y'all. We'll be right back. I
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: don't know, because obviously you want to reward the comic people,
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: and I feel like the comic people would be reading everything.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: But that's just that just really makes me mad because
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: and I don't want to like Dredge so much on it,
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: because realistically, this has just been an overarching decision that
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: the story group has made. Four Phase three is just like,
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: oh yeah, we're everything's necessary, and so as a person
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: who's collecting everything but waiting until trades come out for
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: the comics because it's just easier for me, it's it's
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: just kind of frustrating, especially when dark Horse doesn't have
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: like a comic subscription like Marvel does. Like at least Marvel,
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: I can go, Okay, I'm reading these two months after
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: they come out or whatever it is, But like dark Horse,
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: I really and truly do have to wait until a
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: trade comes out. So it's first of all problems, one
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: hundred percent first of all problems. It's just frustrating.
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: I yeah, it really is. But this story takes place
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: literally on just one planet.
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: Well, mostly because you have to get everybody to that planet.
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: Yes, but mostly it does take place on the planet
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: of uh Urico Erico.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: I think it's Erico, Yeah, which is the planet that
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: Vernestra finds Emily on in Defibe Storm.
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: And so again, if you're not reading everything, you're missing
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: things because you're like, wait, how did Emory get here?
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: Because Emory hasn't been mentioned in the middle grade books. Sorry, yeah,
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: we're not. We're not continuing that.
- 1:03:40Speaker 5: We talked about it enough, Katie, But uh we this
- 1:03:48Speaker 5: book is mostly uh in the perspectives of uh Emory.
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: Of uh Zell uh no, no, no, what's her name? Uh?
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: Uh uh, the the little the daughter, the youngest of
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: the chancellor, Zenny gray Lark. Uh So it's Zenny Truro
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: and uh Emory. Those are our three perspectives. Basically, Emory
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: is really uh struggling through this book with the fact
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: that the storm wall is down. He has to go
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: back to Coruscant, uh because he doesn't want to. He
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: he has felt comfortable here on Erico, and he's like, hey,
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: why don't we just you know, set up a Jedi
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: temple here, Like we can run the temple and you know,
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: we can be all good and everything else. And the
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: other Jedi that's with him is like, hey, dude, like
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: that's a good idea. Like you got a good point
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: because like, uh, the the oh shoot, what kind of
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: root is it? It's the.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: One the hyperspace roots.
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no, the the actual like root, like the plant, oh,
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: the glocka Yeah, the glocker root is something that the
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: huts farm. Ye, And so Emory's like, hey, people don't
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: like huts. Huts are dangerous. We could be here as
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: like the line of defense.
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: That's like the biggest plot point in this oven, the
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: blight coming for Arico. And that's how Truro kind of
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: gets involved. Is the glacka root is basically kind of
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: like a potato plant, but it is a delicacy for
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: the huts. And basically how you propose marriage to other
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: huts is you present them with like bukuos and bukus
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: of glacka root, and that's how they know if you're worthy,
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: because glacker root is very expensive because it's a finicky plant.
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: So Turo is studying with one of the professors from
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: Port Haley I believe in plant biology and stuff, and
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: so they come in to get glocker roots Emory and
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: I think his name is yarick Uh the other Jedi.
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: They are like figuring out why ships keep crashing and
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: why the satellite's not fixed because they can't communicate with
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: any and basically they figure out that the president of
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: the planet has been hiding the fact that the Blank
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: has been taking over the planet for months at this point,
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: and so now they only have like two weeks to
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: get everybody off world. Yea, yeah, yes, so Yaik gets
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: ripped down, Taptup and Zinny come to rescue Turo because
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: they figure out Churo is on Arico, and so basically
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: they all have to gather together to save the planet,
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: save the universe, rescue Turo. Truro does get to run
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: into his sister again and so that he kind of
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: has like an Ish family reunion where he gets put
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: work for the huts. Realistically, again like these, like we
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: always say with these middle grade books, very simple story
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: but really heartfelt. I do love tap tep Tup is
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: super adorable. She is our transfer presentation here, of course,
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: but she's super adorable. She does a lot of good
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: work in this. She really feels like she's coming into
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: her own and it shows because in the end, Emory's like, dude,
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: how are you going to be a padawan if you
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: don't learn how to work with things.
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: Like well, and and like that was the thing. So like, uh,
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: she made some decisions on her own, and like there's
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: one moment where Emory and her are on some sort
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: of speeder and like Emory runs into them, but then
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: tep tap like eases their like fall and she's like
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: yeah the soldiers, yeah, and she's like I didn't want
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: them to fall and get hurt. And he's like a
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: good point, like it's not their fault that they were
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: in the way, blah blah blah. And then like when
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: they're doing their little like space adventure, she's like, let
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: me help you, like I'm here, I can be of
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: use like use me and he's like, oh, that's true,
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: Like I have to trust you with this, and so
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: he tells her what to do and she does her
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: own little thing there. Uh, So we get these moments,
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: like Katie said that, she is really stepping into her
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: own and then at the very end when he's like, hey,
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: so I'm gonna go do this, so come with me,
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: and she's like uh, And he was like, well, if
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: you're gonna be my padawan, you have to come with me.
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: And she like just flips out. She's like, oh, yes, yes,
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: I gotta be your bed one. And she's like freaking
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: out and she's like and I promised that to be
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: so weird, and she's like and this is when Emory's like, Hey,
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: if I've learned anything in my travels over the last
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: few years, it's that the Jedi could use all sorts
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: of people. So I really like that ending for tip Tap.
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: I was so happy. Uh.
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: We have seen tep Tup and killed O together, like
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: I said, throughout all of Phase three, and we've always
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: seen a very confident killed And although tep Tub was
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: always the adorable one, always the shy and quiet one,
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: and of course really there to always talk to whatever animals,
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: you know, the authors needed her to talk to at
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: the time. With this, I enjoy this because she gets
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: to be independent. Yeah, And so I hope again, we
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: don't know if this is the for sure ending for
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: any of these characters. Michael, Tom Charles, y'all better freaking
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: give us something, I swear, But like, I would like
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: to see there be something with tep Tub, whether that
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: be like a future story of like an adventure with
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: her and Emery, because again, like Emory doesn't have a
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: lightsaber through any of this, he is solely just working
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: with the Force and he's mentioned it, like I think
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: twice in this book that he doesn't have a lightsaber anymore.
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: He has kind of chosen to not go down that
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: path anymore, so to have that relationship with Tep Tep
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: in the future, and we know that he kind of
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: becomes this philosopher, right, Yeah, so like I would like
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: to see how that really turns Tep tup and on
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: her path. So I think that's really interesting.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: Yeah. Overall, just a lot of really heartfelt moment. There's
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: really good action in this too. The space suit battle
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: is really well written, Like Justina killed it with that scene.
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: I love J six always great, always, And so you
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: have the space suit battle and then you have like
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: the final battle between like the Scapdroids, and there's one
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: other thing. Oh I think it's just the Scapdroids because
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: we figure out that the Gray Lark father is the
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: one on the night Hill ship.
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: Sorry, and and that was that's like our other like
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: emotional like happy ending is because Zenny for the past
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: two books has been looking for her father, and in
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: the middle of this book she learns from somebody who
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: they call uncle. They they learn oh he's dead. Yeah,
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: And so there's like this heavy thing that Zenny is
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: really holding on to and they're like, Oh, we have
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: to go home and we're gonna have to tell mom.
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: And this is the sucks. I hate this, like, and
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: Zenni is holding on to this and holding on and
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: holding on and holding on. But then there's just like
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: this beautiful moment where she sees her father for the
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: first time, and like the way that Justina describes it
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: is like she ran faster than she's ever ran before,
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: running into his arms and just like bawling her eyes
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: out and all of this other stuff and it's just
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: so sweet, so nice. Again, I got my happy ending book.
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: I did, and I'm very grateful for it. Like you
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: guys need to remember, Justina got started in well not
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: didn't get started, but like one of the things that
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: I remember most from Justina is, uh the Path of Deceit.
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: Mm hm is.
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: I started reading it the day Amberlyn was born yep,
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: and then having a father daughter reunion as her last
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: imprint on the high republic for this for this initiative, Like,
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: it's very heartwarming, it's very special to my heart. Got
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: me a little choked up. I loved it.
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: It was really the best, and it's really I'm picturing
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: this is like her last book for Star Wars right now,
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: because obviously, like you can always come back, but she
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: has said she's like done with Star Wars for the moment.
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: She still has a Mace window trade. I guess the
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: Hyperspace stories one to go. But I love this book.
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: I really thought it was great. The only critiques I
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: really have with it are just overwaching critiques from Phase three.
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: It's really sad to have to continue to talk about it,
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: but they are a part of each book. But I
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: also don't consider them to be a fault of the book.
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: It's just a fault of planning. So and this should
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: be our final ad break. So y'all, thanks for bearing
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: with us. We appreciate y'all. We'll be right back.
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: Truro story, we talked a little bit briefly about it.
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: He is trying to stay away from the stereotypes around huts,
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: and he can't really stay away from it because again,
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: like you have said, he runs into his sister again,
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: he very smartly is able to kind of of trick
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: her into helping everybody on Erica and still give her
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: what she wants. Yea hopefully, because again we don't really
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: know what the outcome is. But there was a lot
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: of demands and like, hey, if we do this, you
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: guys can do this and all of this other stuff.
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: But like, I liked how Truro's story has kind of ended.
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: With this story as well, he seems like in a
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: very good place because even his sister is like, hey,
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: this is what I meant when I said stay away,
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: and I want to protect you still, so you're gonna
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: stay behind, go back. Yeah, Because of course his sister
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: thought that they were about to fight like a whole
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: wave of nihil, so she's like, hey, don't get your
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: hands dirty with this stuff. This isn't who you are,
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: stay back. This is my job now. So I really
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: like that. But yeah, overall, I think this is a
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: good book. Even though I had my hot take in
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: the very beginning of this, I still think that this
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: is a great way to end the middle grade stories.
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: The only thing I will say is, and again, it
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: doesn't have to because it's strictly a middle grade book.
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: This again doesn't set you up for anything, which I
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: think is a good and a well with it also
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: being the end.
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: Like it's tough, right, because Into the Light does kind
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: of set you up for Trials of the Jedi so
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: the same time, but it also feels like a value
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: vow is kind of taking place potentially at the same
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: time as Trial of the Jedi. So did to get
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: into Trial of the Jedi because that's what I was
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: also waiting to Retrail of the Jedi for so we
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: could talk about this one and be clean and not
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: have anything else in my brain when I'm reading Trials
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: with the Jedi. So I'm interested to see how the
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: timeline compares because we know, like Into the Light is
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: definitely before this, so.
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: Yeah, yep, but yeah, guys, with that, that is our review.
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: Thank you guys so much for being here. Of course,
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: you can always find me at fanboy Clay on Blue Sky, Instagram, Threats,
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: and TikTok. For more of the comic book stuff that
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: I do for work. You follow me on Blue Sky
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: if you would like to see me talk a whole
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: lot about books that I am reading every single month,
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: you can follow me on Instagram and Threads. Just finished
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: Leviathan Wakes, which is the book one of the Expanse.
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: That was a trippy book. It started as like a
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: sci fi mystery and then became like Resident Evil in Space.
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: It was very weird. But yeah, going to already be
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: starting like freaking three books at the beginning of freaking June.
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: It's insane. But right now my main focus is to
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: finish trials before the end of May, so that way
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: I can have seven books under my belt in one month. Yeah,
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: if you guys noticed, I was a dummy and forgot
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: about the holiday and did not post Ranger Alliance this week.
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: So if you notice podcast listeners uh in the feed
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: today Thursday, I'm actually gonna be dropping Ranger Alliance with
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: this episode, so immediately I'm kidding.
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: I'm totally kidding.
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: I mean I don't have to. I could just double
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: drop on a Monday again like.
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: It's I don't care, but just giving you sit.
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: There, there will be of course this episode and Ranger
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: Alliance today. Uh, so go give that a listen. Jake
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: and I talked about the reveal of a new character
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: in the series, uh and when he or they potentially
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: appear in the show, So go check that out, Katie.
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: What about you, Dol.
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: You can find me on both social media platforms and
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: it's at Slice of Katie. Remember this show. We are
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: not on social media currently. We still have an account
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: on x but we are not using it at the moment.
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: So that where you can contact us is via phone
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: number which is eight three zero five three eight four
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: eight two eight again eight three zero five three eight
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: four eight two eight. Just shoot us a text or
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: leave us a voicemail and give us a way to
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: reference you. You can also shoot us an email at
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: Star Wars Alliance atgmail dot com. Remember there's no A
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: in the Wars super important for it. Next week, guys,
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: we will be here. We will be talking about any
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: news that comes out between now and then, but also
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: we will be talking about Edge of Balance Premonition and
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: Edge of Balance Volume four. So those are the two
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: mangas that dropped in April for the High Republic, and
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: to me, they're very crucial to where Trials of the
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: Jedi is about to go.
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: I will I will read it eventually, probably this weekend.
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: Are we talked about this last week guys and said
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: we were going to talk about it today, but we
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: kind of realized with the news that we kind of
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: needed to push this, so and our season two interviews
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: and threes on cuts will be dropping. Uh that will
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: be our June nineteenth episode, so that gives us a
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: little more time to kind of gather everything, but also
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: we wanted to talk about news and kind of get
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: us caught up and up to date with everything, so
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: that way we could kind of move forward at a
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: good speed. So that is what you guys can't expect
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: on the twelfth. I've talked about June nineteenth, we might
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: as well talk about what's on the twelfth. We're talking
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: about Volume three and Crash Zone of the Higher Republic Adventures.
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: So that also includes the Wedding Spectacular issue guys, which
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: might I say was fantastic, and then the Crash Zone
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: of one shot issues by Alyssa Long. So that's what
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: you can expect for the next couple weeks, guys, and
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: Traveler to the Jedi. Who knows when that episode's gonna drop.
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: We'll let you guys know next week. So with that,
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: I want to wish everyone a great day or night,
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: whatever time of day you're listening or watching, and we
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: will see you next time, and forced to be with
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: you
