- 0:07Speaker 2: Your football and they go whistle. So, yeah, it's too.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Bad, But what did you expect.
- 0:13Speaker 3: It's a podcast call twenty five whistles twenty wine.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Hello, welcome to another episode will blow the whistle. I
- 0:22Speaker 2: got to thank you, thank you. We have been on
- 0:26Speaker 2: the road a lot, about ten thousand miles over the
- 0:29Speaker 2: past four or five days. Going to Oregon was super cool.
- 0:33Speaker 2: It I'm gonna be honest with you. It did a
- 0:34Speaker 2: long trip. Yeah, there's a reason I don't go up
- 0:37Speaker 2: there every day. It just took a long time. It
- 0:38Speaker 2: took four and a half hours from Chicago.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Why would you go there every day?
- 0:42Speaker 2: It's awesome, but you're right, I would like to go
- 0:44Speaker 2: up there more. But yeah, we went up for Oregon
- 0:48Speaker 2: to go hang out, and we're gonna actually start with
- 0:50Speaker 2: the interview here in just a second. I'll tell you
- 0:52Speaker 2: where I got irritated and I shouldn't, but on my
- 0:55Speaker 2: Instagram I have posted a video just raw pictures of
- 1:00Speaker 2: some of our trip in Oregon. I'm throwing the football,
- 1:02Speaker 2: I'm sitting with Coach Landing. But the third slide in
- 1:06Speaker 2: the carousel is of me bench pressing, and I'm bitch
- 1:10Speaker 2: pressing two green plates and those are forty five's there.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Their plates are green and yellow like their colors. So
- 1:16Speaker 2: the forty fives are green and so uh. And their
- 1:20Speaker 2: linebacker Jeffrey Bossa was spotting me. He was like Mark
- 1:25Speaker 2: working out with me, not working just whatever. He was
- 1:27Speaker 2: helping me. And you see in the video. I get
- 1:31Speaker 2: the weight up and I wasn't cold, but I was coolish.
- 1:35Speaker 2: It's not like we were there a long We stretched our
- 1:37Speaker 2: arms and didn't not much. George Burge, who's a friend
- 1:41Speaker 2: of mine, country artists, George Burg. No, well he's not
- 1:43Speaker 2: the hater, okay, George burg has I got my mind
- 1:47Speaker 2: on you guy, You on my mind. He writes two
- 1:50Speaker 2: twenty five like nothing, which is what that rep was.
- 1:54Speaker 2: It was two twenty five. Some jerk one Alex Underscorehindron
- 1:59Speaker 2: writes one forty five like nothing. Those plates are twenty
- 2:01Speaker 2: five vers.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Oh yeah, here, come on.
- 2:04Speaker 2: I know I'm pretty immune the people online saying things
- 2:10Speaker 2: about me, because it's happened my whole career. I was
- 2:12Speaker 2: pissed when I saw this. He doesn't know, No, it's wrong.
- 2:16Speaker 1: And the greens were forty five's yeah, and the yellows
- 2:19Speaker 1: were thirty fives, I believe, right.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I don't know if that's true.
- 2:21Speaker 4: I think those were five fives.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Oka, but the greens were forty five. I never saw
- 2:25Speaker 2: thirty fives. I think they had forty.
- 2:26Speaker 4: No, they just had twenty five and then little ten
- 2:28Speaker 4: pound plates.
- 2:29Speaker 1: They don't do that over there. I don't do thirty five.
- 2:32Speaker 2: I was so insulted at this dude who knows nothing,
- 2:35Speaker 2: Alexandro and you piece of garbage. Oh wow, wowow right,
- 2:38Speaker 2: he knows nothing. And if I'm going to push that
- 2:42Speaker 2: hard on one forty five, I don't think i'd be
- 2:44Speaker 2: flexing that on camera.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I would, that's fair, but not you.
- 2:48Speaker 2: One forty five like nothing. Those are twenty five platers,
- 2:51Speaker 2: I said, no, they aren't, they're forty fives. They're green,
- 2:54Speaker 2: like the green means anything. Yeah. Yeah, I just wanted
- 2:57Speaker 2: to say that I was insulted by that.
- 3:00Speaker 1: You should be because you you lifted that. We were
- 3:03Speaker 1: all there, we saw it, and we're proud of you.
- 3:04Speaker 2: People tell me all the time, you're not funny, Okay,
- 3:06Speaker 2: you're ugly, okay, whatever, Okay, sure, I guess because that's opinion.
- 3:12Speaker 2: I am on camp. This is not ais this is
- 3:15Speaker 2: not a deep fake, and you don't know what you're
- 3:17Speaker 2: talking about. Stupid guy in the internet.
- 3:19Speaker 4: He's obviously he never worked out there.
- 3:21Speaker 1: You have obviously point.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good point. So yeah, no, I wrote that.
- 3:26Speaker 2: If you go to that, I prefer a few replied
- 3:29Speaker 2: to his stupid idiot.
- 3:31Speaker 1: I learned to count.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Stupid idiot anyway. I was very insulted, and I don't
- 3:37Speaker 2: get insulted that.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Much, and usually you get insulted by dumb things. That
- 3:39Speaker 1: one that's valid. That's validated.
- 3:41Speaker 4: All he has to do is ask Dylan Gabriel.
- 3:43Speaker 2: We got around, Oh that's right. Yeah, you won't hear
- 3:45Speaker 2: that in this one, but you're right. Dylan Gabriel, HEI'SMA
- 3:48Speaker 2: front runner who we talked to as well. I was like, hey,
- 3:50Speaker 2: I heard you do up a two forty five, which
- 3:55Speaker 2: means they were talking all about it. I heard the
- 3:56Speaker 2: I'm waiting for an offer. I keep waiting for coach call.
- 4:00Speaker 2: We had a great time in Oregon, and we're going
- 4:01Speaker 2: to start with that interview. Uh, this is our sit
- 4:03Speaker 2: down with Oregon head football coach Dan Lanning, which, by
- 4:07Speaker 2: the way, it is weird when a head football coach
- 4:10Speaker 2: at a major school that's a National Championship caliber program,
- 4:15Speaker 2: is younger than you are.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, and making a lot more money than I am.
- 4:21Speaker 1: That everyone. That's everyone.
- 4:23Speaker 4: I noticed he didn't say you, he said I.
- 4:24Speaker 2: I was about to be insulted. Dan Lane was awesome.
- 4:31Speaker 2: I mean, it was so great again, but it was
- 4:33Speaker 2: a little weird because he's younger. That's so cool. Imagine
- 4:35Speaker 2: being in your thirties and being the head coach, or
- 4:37Speaker 2: imagine like Sean McVay with the RAM Yeah, yeah, exactly,
- 4:41Speaker 2: which but I feel like a college program you have
- 4:43Speaker 2: more responsibility than an NFL program as far as things
- 4:46Speaker 2: you have to do because NFL there's a lot to do,
- 4:50Speaker 2: but it's pro it's just football.
- 4:53Speaker 1: College.
- 4:54Speaker 2: You have to like cultivate relationships, call kids, make sure
- 4:56Speaker 2: they go special, raise money. Yes, I feel like that job,
- 5:01Speaker 2: like the surface area. There's more to do and so
- 5:05Speaker 2: it'd be harder to do if you're younger and I
- 5:07Speaker 2: l no.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Yeah. He's coached under Nick Saban Kirby smart coach novel
- 5:12Speaker 2: and at Florida State. He's twenty two and five and
- 5:15Speaker 2: two years as Oregon's head coach. His team has the
- 5:17Speaker 2: fourth best odds to win the championship this year. According to Vegas,
- 5:20Speaker 2: he was awesome, though very cool. He's big and not
- 5:23Speaker 2: think he was that big. And if he threw up
- 5:25Speaker 2: two green plates, I'd be like, shout out. I wouldn't
- 5:27Speaker 2: be like those are those are twenty five's. This dude, though,
- 5:30Speaker 2: went straight at me and I was I was offended.
- 5:33Speaker 2: I say, here he is head coach Dan Lanning, coach, Thanks,
- 5:38Speaker 2: appreciate you being here. Actually we're here. I guess you're
- 5:41Speaker 2: already here, so I appreciate us to be in here.
- 5:43Speaker 5: Right, yea, yes for coming.
- 5:45Speaker 2: I got a couple questions for you when I was
- 5:46Speaker 2: looking at kind of your history. You went from being
- 5:50Speaker 2: a GA obviously to a position coach, but then back
- 5:53Speaker 2: to a GA at Bama. Was that a tough call
- 5:56Speaker 2: for you to take a step back but the program
- 5:58Speaker 2: was a step up?
- 6:00Speaker 5: Yeah, it really wasn't. I knew I had more to learn.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Certainly financially it didn't make a lot of sense, but
- 6:06Speaker 3: from a professional development standpoint, it was definitely the right move.
- 6:11Speaker 2: I was with coach Prime. We played a softball game
- 6:14Speaker 2: to the other a couple days ago, and he was
- 6:16Speaker 2: saying some really wonderful things about you. Now earlier in
- 6:19Speaker 2: the year, whenever that before that game that blew up
- 6:22Speaker 2: and I did not expect coach He was like, where
- 6:25Speaker 2: are you going? I said, we're going to see coach Michael.
- 6:26Speaker 2: You're gonna love him. You're gonna love him. I guess
- 6:28Speaker 2: I didn't know that he he loved you.
- 6:31Speaker 3: I think I think both of us have a lot
- 6:32Speaker 3: of admiration and respect for each other. I think something
- 6:34Speaker 3: completely got blown, blown out of proportion. I certainly appreciate
- 6:37Speaker 3: him and what he's done for the game, and it's
- 6:39Speaker 3: hard not to appreciate what he did as a player.
- 6:41Speaker 5: It's unbelievable what he did as a.
- 6:42Speaker 3: Player, and now to see what he's done for the
- 6:44Speaker 3: game of football, it's it's a lot of fun to watch.
- 6:47Speaker 2: You're not even forty yet, correct now, Yeah, so you've
- 6:50Speaker 2: you've got to be playing a TAA college football.
- 6:53Speaker 5: Not not yet.
- 6:54Speaker 3: You know, we just had a walk through this morning,
- 6:57Speaker 3: had some guys on the field, and there's a lot
- 6:58Speaker 3: of a lot of chatter going on. So the guys
- 7:00Speaker 3: will come over to the house later at night and
- 7:02Speaker 3: maybe we'll look it up. But I doubt I get
- 7:04Speaker 3: on the sticks.
- 7:04Speaker 5: It's been a long time.
- 7:06Speaker 2: What was the last stick you got on?
- 7:07Speaker 3: Then, whenever COVID happened and we were all kind of
- 7:11Speaker 3: locked in our basements, I used to tell my wife,
- 7:12Speaker 3: I'm going downstairs to recruit and I hop I'd hop
- 7:15Speaker 3: on Call of Duty and try to play these guys
- 7:17Speaker 3: in Call of Duty.
- 7:18Speaker 5: That was like my last.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Experience, and I got smoked. So sometimes I put my
- 7:23Speaker 3: son on there. He'd play, and I would be on
- 7:24Speaker 3: the headset talking like I I was the guy, you know,
- 7:28Speaker 3: backing it up.
- 7:29Speaker 2: The problem with the headset though, because I would play
- 7:31Speaker 2: a little bit with like randos that you just link
- 7:34Speaker 2: up with. But it's like twelve year olds who dominate
- 7:36Speaker 2: me then make me feel worse as a human than
- 7:38Speaker 2: I already do.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's embarrassing when you're getting smoked in that game.
- 7:43Speaker 2: So this Oregon it's awesome. I mean it's everything you
- 7:47Speaker 2: could want, as far as like facilities, as far as
- 7:50Speaker 2: the resources that go into it. People love you here.
- 7:55Speaker 2: You've been killing it as a head coach. But I
- 7:57Speaker 2: assume even as good and as great as you do,
- 7:59Speaker 2: there's always that pressure because they're providing the resources for you.
- 8:03Speaker 2: To keep knocking it out of the park. Is that true?
- 8:05Speaker 3: Yeah, there's always pressure with any job, and you know,
- 8:07Speaker 3: I hope there's pressure.
- 8:08Speaker 5: It means you're not in the right spot right. You
- 8:10Speaker 5: want to You don't want to be comfortable, and we
- 8:13Speaker 5: all have goals and aspirations.
- 8:14Speaker 3: This is certainly a place that you can accomplish them,
- 8:17Speaker 3: but it's not supposed to be easy. So it's fun
- 8:19Speaker 3: to be in a place where we want to compete.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Do you look at the preseason rankings? No? You already
- 8:25Speaker 2: say no, but you care? See I hear you? Who cares? Amen?
- 8:29Speaker 2: But like one eye, you like blink at it for
- 8:31Speaker 2: a second just to see.
- 8:32Speaker 5: No, No, it doesn't matter.
- 8:34Speaker 3: I mean the opinions of everyone outside of this room,
- 8:37Speaker 3: no offense, the opinions you guys, it doesn't matter.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Ourds are great though, you know we have a really
- 8:41Speaker 2: good life.
- 8:41Speaker 5: Good opinions.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Well sure, but I'll tell you this, we don't pay
- 8:44Speaker 3: a lot of attention to them because they don't affect
- 8:46Speaker 3: the outcome on the field. You know, the people on
- 8:48Speaker 3: this program, they're going to affect the outcome on the field.
- 8:50Speaker 3: So we try to focus on us twelve teams in
- 8:52Speaker 3: the playoffs this year doesn't really affect you guys, because
- 8:55Speaker 3: you guys are always in the mix anyway. So your
- 8:59Speaker 3: thoughts on the spansion of the playoffs, because it feels
- 9:01Speaker 3: like to me, Oregon just got to play a couple
- 9:02Speaker 3: more games.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Now.
- 9:03Speaker 3: I think it's great for college football from the standpoint,
- 9:06Speaker 3: there's gonna be a little bit more interest at the
- 9:07Speaker 3: end of the season than there has been. But the end,
- 9:10Speaker 3: the goal hasn't changed for us.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Just when how much do you say when it comes
- 9:16Speaker 2: to what uniforms are going to wear or what uniforms
- 9:18Speaker 2: are going to be created? Do you ever see one
- 9:20Speaker 2: that doesn't even get to the player's eyes because you're
- 9:22Speaker 2: like that one is not good?
- 9:24Speaker 5: Sometimes there's a no.
- 9:25Speaker 3: But but once once we have the go, that's kind
- 9:28Speaker 3: of where I step out, right, so I get to
- 9:30Speaker 3: see them in advance. But our creative team, our design group,
- 9:35Speaker 3: they do they do an unbelievable job and then they
- 9:37Speaker 3: get a lot of feedback from our players, right, Kenny
- 9:39Speaker 3: Farr does a great job working with Nike, and you
- 9:42Speaker 3: know those guys that create some some awesome get ups
- 9:45Speaker 3: for our guys. But a lot of times we get
- 9:47Speaker 3: to the game on Saturday, when I walk out the tunnel,
- 9:48Speaker 3: that's when I see it the first time. No, way,
- 9:51Speaker 3: not the very first time. But like, but I'm not
- 9:53Speaker 3: that week. I'm a lot more worried.
- 9:55Speaker 5: About the opponent than what we're gonna win the game.
- 9:56Speaker 2: I feel like my number one party be Jersey Jersey.
- 10:01Speaker 2: So do you have like a guy that will say
- 10:03Speaker 2: to you, hey, this looks great? This does it? Is
- 10:06Speaker 2: there a an aesthetics head of aesthetics here?
- 10:09Speaker 3: No, we have an equipment manager, you know, and he's
- 10:13Speaker 3: on top of it. He does as good a job
- 10:15Speaker 3: as anybody in the nation. In fact, I think he's
- 10:16Speaker 3: the best in the nation when it comes to piecing
- 10:18Speaker 3: this together. It's Kenny Fahr. And again he does a
- 10:21Speaker 3: great job of meeting with our players, collaborating with them,
- 10:23Speaker 3: collaborating with Nike to create some really cool setups for
- 10:27Speaker 3: our guys.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Coach of the network loves highlighting your excitement and you
- 10:31Speaker 1: pumping up the team. And there's always a video montage
- 10:33Speaker 1: of somewhere during the game. Do you sometimes go home
- 10:36Speaker 1: and watch and be like, home, man, like go too hard?
- 10:39Speaker 1: I went way too hard, you know.
- 10:40Speaker 3: I don't normally watch the TV copy you know, at
- 10:43Speaker 3: times we might go back and like peel through it
- 10:45Speaker 3: for you know, to make sure we don't put any
- 10:48Speaker 3: signals on film or things like that. But I don't
- 10:50Speaker 3: spend a lot of time watching that, and I'm never
- 10:53Speaker 3: gonna be I'm never gonna apologize for passion. I think
- 10:56Speaker 3: the players are going to match your energy and enthusiasm,
- 10:58Speaker 3: So that's something I always want to carry on the field.
- 11:00Speaker 2: You mentioned you're not gonna watch signal, possibly because signals
- 11:06Speaker 2: could be out there that that's not really a thing anymore.
- 11:07Speaker 3: I think it'll still exist in college football, just because
- 11:10Speaker 3: there's still gonna be some teams that carry tempo. And
- 11:12Speaker 3: if you're you know, reliant to just giving the call
- 11:14Speaker 3: and one to one guy in the field, you're probably
- 11:16Speaker 3: going to be short. You know, you want eleven guys
- 11:19Speaker 3: playing the same call on both sides of the ball.
- 11:21Speaker 3: So at times, I think signals will still exist.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Are you advocating now that every player has communication to
- 11:26Speaker 2: their helmet, because that's what I hear.
- 11:28Speaker 3: Yeah, i'd be, I'd be. I'd be great with that.
- 11:30Speaker 3: There's probably some guys that there's such thing as too
- 11:33Speaker 3: much information too.
- 11:35Speaker 5: When you get on the field, your best players. You
- 11:36Speaker 5: just wanted to be able to play.
- 11:38Speaker 3: But yeah, I think there's probably a benefit to just
- 11:40Speaker 3: to where everybody can hear the call, and that would
- 11:42Speaker 3: that would certainly help things.
- 11:43Speaker 2: What if everybody ELSEO could talk back? Because I worked
- 11:45Speaker 2: at Hobby Lobby for that and they gave me a speaker.
- 11:48Speaker 2: I was on the thing all the time and I
- 11:50Speaker 2: didn't need to say anything.
- 11:51Speaker 3: You ever been on alwaukie talkie where the other guy's
- 11:53Speaker 3: always talking and you can.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Ever, Yeah, that was me at Hobby Lobby. They would
- 11:56Speaker 2: be like, hey, go down and set up this display,
- 11:58Speaker 2: and I was like, hey, guys, if you could three like,
- 12:02Speaker 2: I'll three like she's got to you know that kind
- 12:04Speaker 2: of stuff. So yeah, that probably wouldn't be good right.
- 12:06Speaker 5: And not be a good thing.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Do you ever feel like you you'll change your offense
- 12:11Speaker 2: or defense based on personnel that comes in if the
- 12:15Speaker 2: talent is so strikingly Let's say, you know, you run
- 12:18Speaker 2: wide open, but let's say this guy comes in and
- 12:21Speaker 2: is a straight ahead runner and maybe doesn't need it
- 12:23Speaker 2: as wide open? Will you change your offense at all
- 12:25Speaker 2: for that?
- 12:26Speaker 5: Absolutely?
- 12:27Speaker 3: I think a coach's job is to match the you know,
- 12:29Speaker 3: the talents of his personnel. And that's you know, going
- 12:32Speaker 3: back to being a high school coach, I think you
- 12:34Speaker 3: have to look and see what your players do best
- 12:35Speaker 3: and try to make sure you're utilizing their talents.
- 12:37Speaker 2: When you were your first GA job, what was the
- 12:42Speaker 2: goal for you?
- 12:43Speaker 1: There?
- 12:43Speaker 2: Was it to be a head coach at a major university?
- 12:47Speaker 5: Yeah? I mean that that was a goal early on.
- 12:49Speaker 3: But you know, early in my career, I think I
- 12:51Speaker 3: figured out just be the best at where I'm at
- 12:53Speaker 3: and try to do jobs that nobody else wants to do.
- 12:55Speaker 2: When you're defensive cornator Georgia, I hated you, man, I
- 12:57Speaker 2: hated you. Who's your team Arkansas?
- 12:59Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 13:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I hate get Yeah. And you know, not every
- 13:05Speaker 2: O C or d C is known, especially when you're
- 13:07Speaker 2: under somebody like a Kirby Smart or a Nick Saban,
- 13:10Speaker 2: two guys that you've worked with, right, both those guys.
- 13:13Speaker 2: I hated you because there was there was no opportunity.
- 13:16Speaker 2: It was ugly when you have the players like that
- 13:20Speaker 2: and you're playing I don't know, let's let's just make
- 13:22Speaker 2: up a team Arkansas and they're pretty weak. Do you know,
- 13:25Speaker 2: like this game? All we have to do if we
- 13:27Speaker 2: do exactly what we've set forward. It is going to
- 13:29Speaker 2: be over. They are not going to get anything. You know.
- 13:32Speaker 3: The great thing about football is you never really feel
- 13:33Speaker 3: that way. And I get nervous before every single game.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Certainly we have more talent than than Arkansas when we
- 13:39Speaker 3: played them.
- 13:39Speaker 2: But Arkansas, No, no, we're talking about hypothetical Arkansas.
- 13:44Speaker 5: How's the talent for Arkansas?
- 13:46Speaker 2: No? No, no, no, it's great to be better, it's not
- 13:48Speaker 2: a better coach.
- 13:48Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean I think anytime you go
- 13:51Speaker 3: in there knowing that if you don't if you don't
- 13:53Speaker 3: accomplish your goals and really you know, operate on the
- 13:56Speaker 3: same page, you got an opportunity to lose in college football,
- 13:58Speaker 3: and that's part of what makes the games great. So
- 14:01Speaker 3: we try to prepare for every game the same and
- 14:03Speaker 3: hope that we go play our best and the result
- 14:05Speaker 3: hopefully takes care of itself.
- 14:07Speaker 2: When you walk into a mom or a dad or
- 14:10Speaker 2: a grandma whomember raises the athlete that you're trying to recruit,
- 14:13Speaker 2: what do they know about you? Once you're gone? That
- 14:15Speaker 2: makes them want to come here?
- 14:17Speaker 5: Once I'm gone?
- 14:18Speaker 2: Yeah, once you leave the room, wance, you leave the house.
- 14:20Speaker 3: Just then I'm authentic, like I'm the same guy today
- 14:24Speaker 3: that I was, you know, twenty years ago. I hope
- 14:25Speaker 3: that's what people can always say about me, that just
- 14:27Speaker 3: because positions have changed and situations changed, that I'm the
- 14:31Speaker 3: same person and that family matters to me. I think
- 14:33Speaker 3: if you're in the room with me for ten minutes,
- 14:35Speaker 3: you're probably gonna hear about my boys and my wife.
- 14:36Speaker 5: And that's something that's important to me. And that we
- 14:39Speaker 5: treat the players on our team the same way.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Sometimes I'll see and I have a little warehouse we do.
- 14:44Speaker 2: I have a little clothing line. It's we do a
- 14:46Speaker 2: lot of charity work with our clothing line. And we
- 14:48Speaker 2: have one of those little machines that prints out the shirts.
- 14:50Speaker 2: I feel like here there's like a one of those,
- 14:53Speaker 2: you know, apparel printing machines. You just get anything you
- 14:55Speaker 2: want printed. Is it on campus or do you have
- 14:57Speaker 2: to have a ship to you because it's NonStop everything's
- 15:00Speaker 2: Oregon everything.
- 15:01Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a good setup. You know, we've got an
- 15:02Speaker 3: awesome relationship with Nike. I don't know about that's the
- 15:05Speaker 3: white house here though, right I couldn't. I couldn't answer that.
- 15:07Speaker 2: That's a secret.
- 15:07Speaker 5: I noticed when I show up.
- 15:08Speaker 3: To my locker and I open it up, there's there's
- 15:10Speaker 3: a stuff, and that's it's pretty awesome. Like I said,
- 15:13Speaker 3: Kenny Fard does a great job of taking care of
- 15:14Speaker 3: our staff and our players.
- 15:16Speaker 5: Yeah, we don't run out of gear.
- 15:17Speaker 3: I didn't used to consider myself a shoe guy, and
- 15:19Speaker 3: now now I got too many.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Shoes without identifying anyone. Were there ever colors that you
- 15:25Speaker 2: just didn't like wearing because you didn't like the colors?
- 15:29Speaker 2: Not here, not Oregon, I'm other schools you've been at,
- 15:32Speaker 2: because some if I had to wear orange, I'll be
- 15:34Speaker 2: honest with you, Burnt or Tennessee orange, I might quit
- 15:37Speaker 2: just for that.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess I've probably never been that. I've never
- 15:40Speaker 3: been that much of a fashionista. I'm not a big
- 15:43Speaker 3: fan of purple, but beyond that, I'm pretty good with
- 15:45Speaker 3: any color.
- 15:46Speaker 2: I guess, so light purple probably wouldn't be your jam.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Not much like the U. C. A. Bears. You wouldn't
- 15:50Speaker 2: go coach at UC.
- 15:51Speaker 5: I would go.
- 15:52Speaker 3: I'll coach where there's a job. I'm not going to
- 15:54Speaker 3: make my decisions based off of color. But luckily for me,
- 15:56Speaker 3: I found my last job.
- 15:57Speaker 2: You played at UCA was coach Rble at Florida State.
- 16:00Speaker 2: That's right, and you worked with coach there. What was
- 16:03Speaker 2: he like?
- 16:04Speaker 3: Yeah, he's awesome, like relentless, you know, works, works his
- 16:08Speaker 3: tail off, extremely intelligent, willing to get in there, and
- 16:11Speaker 3: coach will coach every position on the on the field.
- 16:15Speaker 5: You know, unbelievable family.
- 16:16Speaker 3: You know, whenever I work with coach, it's the same
- 16:18Speaker 3: time my wife got diagnosed with cancer and he was
- 16:20Speaker 3: really good for me and my family.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Then I'll run through a couple of them then Coach Saban,
- 16:24Speaker 2: what did you learn from him?
- 16:25Speaker 5: Consistency?
- 16:27Speaker 3: You know, the guy's a robot. He every morning he's
- 16:30Speaker 3: rolling in the obvioicely the exact same time. We're gonna
- 16:32Speaker 3: have a staff me in the same time. You know,
- 16:34Speaker 3: his routine was really impressive. To see, whether it's what
- 16:37Speaker 3: he's eating every morning or every lunch, the way he
- 16:40Speaker 3: operates day in and day out was was really impressive.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Coach smart, Yeah, just enthusiasm, passion, intelligence, ability to adapt,
- 16:50Speaker 3: always thought he was on the cutting edge of things
- 16:52Speaker 3: and always looking for an edge.
- 16:54Speaker 1: I mean, bones is rolling through all these great coaches
- 16:56Speaker 1: that you worked with, like schools, but he's forgetting Sam
- 16:59Speaker 1: Houston State, Well, probably the best school in America.
- 17:02Speaker 3: About the donut shops in Huntsville, Oh.
- 17:04Speaker 1: The best, the best, And I think we're cap.
- 17:07Speaker 5: At a donut shops per town. I think it's gotta
- 17:09Speaker 5: be one of.
- 17:09Speaker 1: The high What was your I mean, what was that experience?
- 17:12Speaker 1: Like a lot of people are gonna want to hear
- 17:14Speaker 1: about this.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Yeah, that's for social Yeah.
- 17:17Speaker 3: So I worked with Casey Keeler was the head coach there,
- 17:20Speaker 3: and that was that was a great coach to be under.
- 17:22Speaker 3: He really gave you an opportunity to figure out how
- 17:24Speaker 3: you want to do things.
- 17:25Speaker 5: You know, he let his coaches coach.
- 17:27Speaker 3: He'd push you, he'd questioned you, but he gave you
- 17:30Speaker 3: an opportunity to go, you know, make it what you
- 17:32Speaker 3: wanted to make it. So your dB meeting that day,
- 17:34Speaker 3: your corners meeting that day, it was you know, how
- 17:36Speaker 3: do you want to build it?
- 17:37Speaker 5: What do you want to look like?
- 17:37Speaker 3: The drill work you did on the field and you
- 17:40Speaker 3: make some mistakes, but you also learned a lot in
- 17:41Speaker 3: the process. So I love my time there at SAM
- 17:44Speaker 3: and it's you know, it's it. It wasn't the bus
- 17:46Speaker 3: league at that time, but you take some long road trips.
- 17:49Speaker 3: You know, you do hop on a charter bus from
- 17:52Speaker 3: time to time to get the places. And you know,
- 17:55Speaker 3: that's something that I think everybody should experience in their
- 17:56Speaker 3: coaching career.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Going to Sam Houston, keeping it right, I think everybody
- 18:00Speaker 2: would to Sam Houston forever. That's the At some point,
- 18:03Speaker 2: that's all I said. Everybody must go to Sam Houston
- 18:05Speaker 2: State to coach at some point.
- 18:06Speaker 3: Now, I think you know, my wife and I have
- 18:07Speaker 3: this discussion too.
- 18:08Speaker 5: We met at a restaurant. We worked that out back
- 18:10Speaker 5: steakhouse together. And I think the other thing.
- 18:12Speaker 3: That everybody should do is some point you should work
- 18:13Speaker 3: in the service industry.
- 18:14Speaker 5: You should.
- 18:15Speaker 3: You should get stiffed at some point, you should get
- 18:16Speaker 3: an unbelievable tip. At some point you should, you know,
- 18:19Speaker 3: learn how to you know, make the people at your
- 18:21Speaker 3: table happy and learn how to deal with Okay, the
- 18:23Speaker 3: food came out late or it came out.
- 18:25Speaker 2: And it's not the waiter's fault, but sometimes you have
- 18:27Speaker 2: to be sometimes like the head coach. I an't always
- 18:29Speaker 2: your fault, but you got to take it and go
- 18:31Speaker 2: and take responsibility.
- 18:32Speaker 5: Can you solve a problem? Can you solve a problem?
- 18:34Speaker 6: So?
- 18:34Speaker 3: Uh, that's something else that you know, I'm a big
- 18:36Speaker 3: believer in that everybody should have to do that.
- 18:38Speaker 2: At some point an eight top when they wanted a
- 18:40Speaker 2: high chair, I waited tables forever, so you know what
- 18:42Speaker 2: I'm talking dude, and they want have you been stiff?
- 18:45Speaker 2: I would be stiff to the point of, you know,
- 18:48Speaker 2: they would do zero zero and leave me a tip
- 18:50Speaker 2: of like how about get a new job?
- 18:52Speaker 5: Wat watch you know, look both ways when you cross
- 18:55Speaker 5: the streets something like that.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Yes, so that would suck. And then having to clean
- 18:58Speaker 2: the crackers up after a baby just went full high chair.
- 19:00Speaker 1: That's not the parents fault. But okay, I mean the
- 19:03Speaker 1: baby does that. I want to compare them to do
- 19:04Speaker 1: like it just happens part of the job.
- 19:05Speaker 2: The hard part.
- 19:06Speaker 3: About a baby is you know already coming in that
- 19:08Speaker 3: they're not going to order a meal, but you're serving
- 19:10Speaker 3: them anyway, right, so you're not going to get a
- 19:13Speaker 3: great tip from that.
- 19:14Speaker 5: Let me ask you this, Now that you've been a server,
- 19:15Speaker 5: you good tipper?
- 19:16Speaker 2: Oh on, two things have happened to me. One I
- 19:19Speaker 2: was a server, so I was a good tipper. I've
- 19:22Speaker 2: been very fortunate in my career. Now that I am
- 19:25Speaker 2: wildly rich. I'll just say it, it's amazing. It's great
- 19:28Speaker 2: because I grew up very poor. I'm I usually tip
- 19:31Speaker 2: like one hundred percent just because of those of those
- 19:35Speaker 2: two reasons. Because I relied on my bills to be
- 19:37Speaker 2: paid by other people, and I needed that blessing from
- 19:40Speaker 2: them in order to just pay my bills. So now
- 19:43Speaker 2: that I have money, I'm glad I serve because I
- 19:46Speaker 2: understand the plight of what the people are going through
- 19:48Speaker 2: serving me.
- 19:49Speaker 3: One of the greatest feelings in the world is be
- 19:50Speaker 3: able to give somebody a great tip, right and know
- 19:52Speaker 3: how much you probably changed their day and make them
- 19:54Speaker 3: feel better.
- 19:55Speaker 1: So don't get a twisted though he only gets appetizers.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Do you have Sonics up here?
- 20:05Speaker 5: I don't know Portland.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Probably the worst is when you go to and I
- 20:08Speaker 2: love Sonic my favorite, and I'm just gonna flex on tips.
- 20:13Speaker 2: It's a very QUI great point and I'm honest about it.
- 20:15Speaker 2: So I love tipping because I needed the tips. So
- 20:18Speaker 2: if I got a Sonic and I get like a
- 20:19Speaker 2: drink or something, and I give them a hundred dollar bill,
- 20:20Speaker 2: and then when they just look at it and don't
- 20:22Speaker 2: don't like give me the extra smile. I get a
- 20:23Speaker 2: little offended. Coach, I'm be honest with you. I need
- 20:25Speaker 2: like that fair thanks, that's fair? Is? I just need
- 20:29Speaker 2: you to because I once dropped a whole trade drinks
- 20:31Speaker 2: on it. And let me tell you this, it's a
- 20:34Speaker 2: bad one. Give me. I want your worst story. I
- 20:36Speaker 2: had a whole trade drinks drinks and probably not really food,
- 20:41Speaker 2: maybe a couple and I walked and I did a
- 20:43Speaker 2: little trip. I dropped it all on a guy at
- 20:45Speaker 2: the table and it was probably a seven or eight
- 20:48Speaker 2: top and spilled it all over him and I was
- 20:51Speaker 2: so embarrassed. I got a a towel and at the
- 20:54Speaker 2: end when he left a tip, he left me a
- 20:56Speaker 2: large tip and said, hey, make sure when someone does
- 20:59Speaker 2: this to you, hopefully you treat them the same way.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Well change my life. I wrote about it my first book,
- 21:03Speaker 2: Change my Life, because I was like, wow, I screwed
- 21:06Speaker 2: up as much as I possibly could have, and this
- 21:08Speaker 2: guy still wanted to make that a learning lesson for
- 21:12Speaker 2: me in a positive way. So miserable day, wonderful outcome.
- 21:17Speaker 2: And I've kept that with me. Did you ever really
- 21:20Speaker 2: screw up waiting tables?
- 21:21Speaker 3: I think everybody's spilled a drink on someone before. That's
- 21:24Speaker 3: that's certainly bad. I mean, I feel like one of
- 21:27Speaker 3: my worst days and as a server, was I had
- 21:29Speaker 3: to work Super Bowl Sunday and the Super Bowl's going
- 21:31Speaker 3: on and I had like a two hundred dollars bill
- 21:34Speaker 3: and I got stiffed on it on Super Bowl Sunday.
- 21:37Speaker 5: But that nothing too bad. Nothing you couldn't solve.
- 21:39Speaker 2: I feel like I should tip them right now just
- 21:40Speaker 2: so you can like.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Give them money.
- 21:41Speaker 5: Yeah, run and short.
- 21:42Speaker 2: Yeah, no good, thanks. Expectations on the program or high
- 21:48Speaker 2: they should be. Expectations are a wonderful thing because you've
- 21:50Speaker 2: earned them and deserved them. What are the expectations internally?
- 21:55Speaker 2: And what do you tell your team you expect from
- 21:57Speaker 2: them day in and day out.
- 21:58Speaker 3: Yeah, this is going to be that coaching answer that
- 22:00Speaker 3: you probably don't want, but their best. I just want
- 22:02Speaker 3: to our players' best. Whatever this team's capable of, that's
- 22:04Speaker 3: what I want to see him achieve. And I don't
- 22:06Speaker 3: know that we know that until we see what teams
- 22:07Speaker 3: we're gonna be facing and line up across room. But
- 22:10Speaker 3: we expect we step on the field to play the
- 22:12Speaker 3: best game we can possibly play. Hold ourselves to a
- 22:14Speaker 3: higher standard, and again, let the result take care of itself.
- 22:17Speaker 2: I was looking at the schedule and Maryland is the
- 22:19Speaker 2: team that would be the farthest. But Maryland is here,
- 22:22Speaker 2: which is nice. And you know, with you guys switching conferences,
- 22:25Speaker 2: you really don't have to go that far in your
- 22:28Speaker 2: first season. That's pretty fortunate, right.
- 22:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I think so, Yeah, I think so. I mean
- 22:31Speaker 3: getting to play in the Big ten something's pretty exciting.
- 22:33Speaker 3: We're going have to go to some venues that I've
- 22:36Speaker 3: never been to before. But we'll travel to Michigan, We'll
- 22:40Speaker 3: travel to Indiana, orsue me, Purdue, you know, we'll travel.
- 22:45Speaker 3: I'm trying to think, but no Ruggers, No, no Ruggers, No,
- 22:48Speaker 3: No Maryland, Yeah, Wisconsin. That'll be a fun road trip
- 22:51Speaker 3: for us. So and then everything else is still remotely
- 22:53Speaker 3: close to where we would have been before.
- 22:55Speaker 2: You're not gonna answer this to I like fe the
- 22:57Speaker 2: answer it, but I'm gonna ask it anyway. You know,
- 22:59Speaker 2: you first couple of games games, it's uh, I forget
- 23:01Speaker 2: who the first I know? Yeah, then it's a Boise
- 23:03Speaker 2: stay that so sure you're getting ready for those, but
- 23:06Speaker 2: you have guys already looking at at the conference game
- 23:08Speaker 2: scouting those teams.
- 23:10Speaker 5: We all look.
- 23:10Speaker 3: Ahead, so the summer is a great opportunity to kind
- 23:12Speaker 3: of jump ahead and look and see what's going to
- 23:14Speaker 3: be different that you haven't seen before, what you haven't
- 23:16Speaker 3: faced before, so you can kind of make sure when
- 23:18Speaker 3: when we get the fall camp. Our hope is that
- 23:19Speaker 3: we can kind of put everything in that'll apply to
- 23:22Speaker 3: our teams throughout the season. So you absolutely look ahead
- 23:25Speaker 3: and try to plan for the future. But then when
- 23:27Speaker 3: you get you know, the game prep and game game week,
- 23:30Speaker 3: you're focused on that next team.
- 23:31Speaker 2: Do you do we talked about in helmet communication, when
- 23:35Speaker 2: you guys hold signs up? Do you hold pictures of
- 23:36Speaker 2: things up? We have in the past. You like to
- 23:39Speaker 2: offer one year, I'd like to for us.
- 23:41Speaker 1: I knew this was coming.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Well, it's just we did a trick play deal with
- 23:45Speaker 2: the team last year. It's pretty cool. They did it,
- 23:48Speaker 2: and they did it. They did it, and I would
- 23:50Speaker 2: like to offer a picture of my head with big
- 23:53Speaker 2: glasses and it's like you want to call the dorky dive.
- 23:56Speaker 2: You want to call like you know, a nerd on
- 23:58Speaker 2: three and it's the one time, one game that's the
- 24:01Speaker 2: sign my head with glasses.
- 24:03Speaker 5: All right, we'll look into it.
- 24:05Speaker 2: He gave me the people will call your people. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 24:09Speaker 2: There's only one of the plays that has a picture
- 24:11Speaker 2: of my head in Arkansas, the basketball games. I hold
- 24:12Speaker 2: it up. You know, they do that thing. But that
- 24:14Speaker 2: doesn't not really for a play. So I'm offering that
- 24:16Speaker 2: I will not sue you no intellectual property. We're able
- 24:20Speaker 2: to use that one game, even if it's a fake,
- 24:23Speaker 2: even if it's you know, the indicator for the next sign.
- 24:26Speaker 2: You are able to use my head for a sign.
- 24:29Speaker 5: We'd use it once, if we use it more than
- 24:31Speaker 5: if you.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Use it once. What's your favorite? What? What charity are
- 24:34Speaker 2: you involved in? Here?
- 24:36Speaker 3: Always yes you it's uh, you know, local cancer Research hospital.
- 24:41Speaker 2: If it shows up, ten thousand dollars from my pocket,
- 24:44Speaker 2: didn't consider it. It shows up and we see, yeah,
- 24:48Speaker 2: I will donate ten thousand dollars to that charity. And
- 24:51Speaker 2: I think we both win.
- 24:52Speaker 5: Yeah, I think that's the win.
- 24:53Speaker 3: Now. Every time, no times a game, this could be
- 24:58Speaker 3: a really, this could turn it's really specially for kickoff.
- 25:01Speaker 2: He holds it up for kickoff.
- 25:05Speaker 5: No, God, I love it. That's awesome. We'll definitely do it.
- 25:08Speaker 2: I hear. I hear that you're like a foodie. Are
- 25:11Speaker 2: you a cooker?
- 25:12Speaker 5: I like to cook.
- 25:13Speaker 3: I'm not great at a lot of meals, but I
- 25:15Speaker 3: like the cook We did steaks last night at the house.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Do you do the whole? Take pride in how you
- 25:20Speaker 2: marinate a steak? Or do you just grill it up?
- 25:23Speaker 5: No, you have more more.
- 25:24Speaker 3: Grill it up, put the right seasoning on it. It
- 25:26Speaker 3: doesn't take a lot working in steak. Aluse salt and
- 25:28Speaker 3: pepper and and you know you're pretty good. See some
- 25:31Speaker 3: other put butter on there. Yeah, we did garlic butter
- 25:33Speaker 3: last Night's some garlic butter. And yeah, it's more about
- 25:36Speaker 3: making sure it's cooked right.
- 25:38Speaker 2: What's your go to though?
- 25:38Speaker 1: When people come to the house, you're like, oh, let me,
- 25:40Speaker 1: let me this is my best meal that I cook someone.
- 25:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I can do steak. I mean that's that's kind
- 25:44Speaker 3: of my steak. Potatoes. I like doing the uh you know,
- 25:47Speaker 3: wrapping the potatoes and aluminum foil, throwing some onions and
- 25:50Speaker 3: stuff inside, cooking it for a long time.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Doing it in the grill of the oven.
- 25:53Speaker 3: Yeah, both, I'll do both. The usually i'll do the
- 25:55Speaker 3: potatoes in the oven, but I've done both. I also
- 25:58Speaker 3: like kialapeno wrap, you know, like stuffed jelapenos with bacon
- 26:02Speaker 3: rapped around it.
- 26:02Speaker 5: That's hard to be and listen to.
- 26:03Speaker 1: It's just Jilipinos man here.
- 26:05Speaker 2: I know. I always feel like I'm you say, how
- 26:08Speaker 2: do you say? Well, I'm from Arkansas, but I'm I
- 26:11Speaker 2: also feel like I'm extremely too Caucasian to accent that
- 26:15Speaker 2: if I don't accent the rest, because I have friends
- 26:17Speaker 2: that are like, hello, my name is Jimmy, would you
- 26:20Speaker 2: like a tottilla? Like that doesn't work. It's hard, like
- 26:23Speaker 2: I get Or when they're talking about the countries for
- 26:25Speaker 2: the soccer and they're like, hey, would you like to
- 26:27Speaker 2: watch soccer? It's gonna be America versus the Yetaguay And
- 26:29Speaker 2: I'm like, that doesn't feel legitimate. I like it, but
- 26:33Speaker 2: to me, I can't do that.
- 26:34Speaker 5: Maybe it's maybe it's because my wife's Cambodian and.
- 26:38Speaker 2: You know, absolutely okay, with five questions left, coach, uh,
- 26:41Speaker 2: let's go to this. Give me your musical mount Rushmore.
- 26:44Speaker 2: The four artists that you love all time, they'd put
- 26:48Speaker 2: up there.
- 26:49Speaker 5: This is tough.
- 26:51Speaker 3: I like Mumford and Sons a lot. Probably throw the
- 26:54Speaker 3: Cranberries on there.
- 26:55Speaker 5: I know that's kind of.
- 26:56Speaker 3: Wild, one out of nowhere.
- 26:58Speaker 5: I like.
- 26:58Speaker 3: I like the Crammers now. I don't know if they
- 26:59Speaker 3: have enough bangers, but.
- 27:01Speaker 2: But they got like three all time all time Yeah, classic.
- 27:06Speaker 5: Exactly, that's great.
- 27:08Speaker 2: Uh.
- 27:08Speaker 5: Fleetwood Mac would probably.
- 27:10Speaker 3: Be in there, and they're kind of that same category.
- 27:13Speaker 5: They don't have a million, but they got some really
- 27:15Speaker 5: good ones.
- 27:15Speaker 1: You don't want to do a Fleetwood Max song.
- 27:17Speaker 2: I can sure you can go your wrong way and
- 27:21Speaker 2: then I don't know, I'd probably go something new. You know.
- 27:23Speaker 3: I went to a Zach Bryant concert recently and he
- 27:25Speaker 3: was unbelievable, so i'd probably throw him on there.
- 27:27Speaker 2: Is it weird having bosses older than you?
- 27:32Speaker 5: No, I think that's normal, right, yeeah.
- 27:34Speaker 2: Bosses are usually older than you, Okay, except you. But
- 27:36Speaker 2: you're bossing people Okay, by this, you're bossing people around
- 27:40Speaker 2: that are older than you.
- 27:41Speaker 5: Yeah, not really, I don't.
- 27:42Speaker 3: I think if you k watching our program, you'd see
- 27:44Speaker 3: we work really well together.
- 27:46Speaker 5: It's not about just bossing. Sometimes you got to.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Make the toughest yeah.
- 27:49Speaker 5: But yeah, yeah, I don't.
- 27:50Speaker 1: I don't.
- 27:51Speaker 5: I don't feel like we're bossing a bunch of people
- 27:52Speaker 5: around here.
- 27:53Speaker 2: That's why I'd say too, but that'd be awesome. I
- 27:55Speaker 2: guess I kind of was it though for a lot.
- 27:57Speaker 2: I was like twenty three running something but not like this.
- 27:59Speaker 1: And you're kind of my boss too, and I'm older
- 28:01Speaker 1: than you, so yeah.
- 28:02Speaker 2: It's coach. We're like, we're dying breed, like youngsters that
- 28:05Speaker 2: run everything.
- 28:05Speaker 5: Yeah, were agent quick.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Yeah, these kids don't even know.
- 28:09Speaker 1: I don't know anything.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Coaches left.
- 28:10Speaker 1: I have four boys. One of them says he's going
- 28:14Speaker 1: to be a receivers coach for the Dallas Cowboys and
- 28:18Speaker 1: that is his peak, Like that's what he wants to do.
- 28:20Speaker 1: What would you tell like a kid, like, if you
- 28:22Speaker 1: want to be a coach, this is where you start.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Ye start coaching as fast as you can start coaching.
- 28:27Speaker 3: It's it's more about getting your feet wet. You don't
- 28:29Speaker 3: want to be bad at your first job, right, so
- 28:31Speaker 3: you got to go somewhere where you can get the
- 28:33Speaker 3: opportunity to do it. And it doesn't really matter where
- 28:35Speaker 3: you're at. It's about getting out there and learning. My
- 28:37Speaker 3: first coaching job was park Hill South High School. I
- 28:40Speaker 3: was an elementary pe teacher and then I coached high
- 28:42Speaker 3: school football and I started coaching receiver. I played defense
- 28:45Speaker 3: my whole career. I was coaching wide outs first, So
- 28:48Speaker 3: I think it's first about just getting there and getting
- 28:49Speaker 3: your feet wet, and then don't worry about the next
- 28:51Speaker 3: step until you've done a great job at the step
- 28:52Speaker 3: you're at.
- 28:53Speaker 2: That's you have something interesting. You had never played wide receiver,
- 28:57Speaker 2: but you coached it. I have friends that are teacher
- 29:00Speaker 2: or something like. They're like, I don't know anything about
- 29:01Speaker 2: World Wars to say, cram like before they have to
- 29:03Speaker 2: give their lesson. When you switch to coach wide receivers,
- 29:07Speaker 2: are you just learning as much as you can before
- 29:08Speaker 2: you go and take that job.
- 29:09Speaker 3: Yeah, you spend all your time studying. We did a
- 29:11Speaker 3: lot of blocking drills at park Hill South. I always
- 29:14Speaker 3: told her. I always told her white outs, the catching
- 29:16Speaker 3: the ball was a privilege. We'll do that before and
- 29:18Speaker 3: after practice, but during practice, we're gonna be really good
- 29:20Speaker 3: at blocking.
- 29:20Speaker 5: So I'm sure they didn't love that.
- 29:21Speaker 2: That's good. Let's do Mount rushmore. Favorite athletes growing up
- 29:25Speaker 2: when you were a kid, Who were your favorite four?
- 29:28Speaker 3: Yeah, Derek Thomas for sure would have been KC Chiefs.
- 29:34Speaker 5: Michael Jordan for sure. Probably Nolan Ryan.
- 29:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I grew up in a really cool era with
- 29:43Speaker 3: the Chiefs, so like Neil, Smith would probably be on
- 29:45Speaker 3: that list as well.
- 29:47Speaker 5: So I was a big Chiefs fan. BoJack Actually, I'd
- 29:49Speaker 5: say bo Jackson gotta go bow the Royal.
- 29:51Speaker 2: We just cut a new head into the mount Rush five.
- 29:54Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, that's all right if you have to remove
- 29:56Speaker 3: Neil and throw Bow in there.
- 29:57Speaker 2: I like them both, but both Sorry Neil, you've been almon, Yes,
- 30:01Speaker 2: but the.
- 30:01Speaker 3: Baseball batswing after a sack was the coolest thing ever.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Did you Did you have one of those as the linebacker?
- 30:06Speaker 5: No? No, I just ran back to the huddle.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Man, what would you have a sack? But what would
- 30:11Speaker 2: you do now if you could have like that?
- 30:12Speaker 5: Yeah, run back to the huddle.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Yeah, same thing is that? What you tell your guys too,
- 30:15Speaker 2: is run back to No.
- 30:16Speaker 5: I mean you have to be you. I always tell
- 30:18Speaker 5: him this.
- 30:18Speaker 3: You don't want to get a penalty for celebrating on
- 30:21Speaker 3: our team. That's that's going to equal a lot of
- 30:23Speaker 3: running the next day. So we don't do that.
- 30:25Speaker 5: We don't. We don't punish ourselves.
- 30:27Speaker 2: My final question has to do with the rule change. It.
- 30:29Speaker 2: I think that college football should make and I would
- 30:31Speaker 2: like to hear your opinion on it. So he scored touchdown,
- 30:37Speaker 2: it's time to kick the extra point. I believe the
- 30:39Speaker 2: person that scored the touchdown should have the opportunity to
- 30:43Speaker 2: kick the extra point and if made or it's worth
- 30:46Speaker 2: two points.
- 30:48Speaker 5: Yeah, that's an interesting thought. I'd have to put some
- 30:52Speaker 5: thought into it.
- 30:52Speaker 2: I am exactly sometim.
- 30:54Speaker 5: It's going to make you.
- 30:55Speaker 3: Think more about who you want to score your touchdown,
- 30:57Speaker 3: right right right, Like you know, you get down to
- 30:59Speaker 3: the two yards, we don't have to Your kicker can
- 31:01Speaker 3: kick for what for an extra point?
- 31:03Speaker 5: For one more point?
- 31:04Speaker 3: I think you're going to be trying to force the
- 31:05Speaker 3: ball over guy. That's kind of decent foot.
- 31:07Speaker 2: And what about any kickover fifty being worth four points?
- 31:11Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm down for that's yeah.
- 31:13Speaker 2: Yeah, these are all good rules.
- 31:14Speaker 5: Yeah, you get to the.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Front and the real one would be sensors and balls,
- 31:19Speaker 2: so you would know if the ball actually crossed the
- 31:20Speaker 2: plane because if the cameras can't see, but if the
- 31:22Speaker 2: knee is down, uh, but.
- 31:24Speaker 5: That's probably coming right.
- 31:25Speaker 3: I think you're you're ahead of your time there. But
- 31:27Speaker 3: I think that's that's something that will exist here sooner
- 31:29Speaker 3: than later.
- 31:29Speaker 2: Coach. We really appreciate the time. Uh, what you've done
- 31:32Speaker 2: here is amazing. Final bonus question when you're the defensive coordinator. Yeah, yeah,
- 31:37Speaker 2: you added an extra amount more. Yeah, that's when I
- 31:39Speaker 2: felt like we were open to another question. You cheated,
- 31:41Speaker 2: We cheat. I've Whenever you're in DC at Georgia and
- 31:46Speaker 2: you guys are killing it, obviously, how quick does it
- 31:48Speaker 2: all happen that you're the head coach here? Is it?
- 31:51Speaker 2: Is it a call and well we're off?
- 31:53Speaker 3: Yeah, it's fast, it's fast. We're in the process of
- 31:56Speaker 3: recruiting at the time. So I was actually in Miami
- 31:58Speaker 3: when the when the process kind of got start it.
- 32:00Speaker 3: And then on the flight back, you know from Miami, Uh,
- 32:03Speaker 3: it kind of even went faster.
- 32:05Speaker 5: A long night and could you believe it?
- 32:07Speaker 3: No, I still pinch myself that I get to do
- 32:09Speaker 3: what I get to do. I was really content, really
- 32:11Speaker 3: happy where I was at and uh, enjoying it. But
- 32:14Speaker 3: I never thought this would be as fulfilling as it's been.
- 32:17Speaker 2: We really appreciate the time. I'll be watching it for
- 32:20Speaker 2: my head. Do it in like one of the games.
- 32:21Speaker 2: It don't matter too, like it doesn't you know, as
- 32:23Speaker 2: long as this national TV, national championship game, why would
- 32:25Speaker 2: you offer that?
- 32:26Speaker 5: What you said, Yeah, it doesn't matter as long as
- 32:28Speaker 5: it's national.
- 32:29Speaker 2: National TV and national are or maybe collegetball playoff or
- 32:32Speaker 2: Ohio State doesn't matter as long as one of those games.
- 32:35Speaker 3: But maybe we can do like regular season ten thousand
- 32:37Speaker 3: and then if we do want to playoff, that would.
- 32:39Speaker 2: Be in kids. This is called a negotiating that I
- 32:41Speaker 2: would do, and especially if everybody that you had t
- 32:45Speaker 2: shirt night where everybody had my head on it.
- 32:47Speaker 5: Oh yeah, yeah, that probably costs a little bit.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I probably cost a little bit. Yeah, I hear that. Coach,
- 32:53Speaker 2: amazing what you've done here.
- 32:54Speaker 3: Thank you for the time, absolutely, thank you, love fun,
- 32:57Speaker 3: appreciate it.
- 32:58Speaker 2: All right, thanks to Coach Landing. I will have the video.
- 33:01Speaker 2: It'll be up soon.
- 33:02Speaker 5: It'll be up today.
- 33:02Speaker 2: It'll be up now because we're putting this up Friday.
- 33:06Speaker 4: Oh oh, it'll be up now.
- 33:08Speaker 1: Yeah listening.
- 33:09Speaker 2: Yeah, so there was the reason we shouldn't put this
- 33:11Speaker 2: up today. Friday? Wink? Nope, Friday wink?
- 33:14Speaker 1: Okay, good, Hey, will you guys tag Sam Houston State
- 33:16Speaker 1: on that? No, tag him? I don't know. Shout out.
- 33:19Speaker 1: That's pretty cool, man. We talked about Sam Houston State,
- 33:23Speaker 1: little old bear Cat.
- 33:24Speaker 2: You did. I don't think you knew except Kevin told
- 33:25Speaker 2: you you put it in.
- 33:26Speaker 1: The pres he was he was like an assistant receiver.
- 33:29Speaker 2: No I know, but I think didn't he remind you, like,
- 33:31Speaker 2: I don't forget Sam Houston State. Yeah, and you're like, well,
- 33:32Speaker 2: I didn't read the note.
- 33:34Speaker 1: He didn't tell me that. Yeah, it's still cool.
- 33:37Speaker 2: So yeah, okay, cool, Let's take a break. We will
- 33:40Speaker 2: come back. A couple things I wanted to mention. First
- 33:44Speaker 2: of all, an update on our poker player. He didn't
- 33:48Speaker 2: win any money. He lasted. I think there were ten
- 33:52Speaker 2: thousand people he lasted into the three thousand left. Yeah,
- 33:55Speaker 2: like you'd be like seventy percent of the field.
- 33:57Speaker 1: It's really good.
- 33:58Speaker 2: Did not win us any money though we were on
- 34:01Speaker 2: a group. Did you see me leave the group thread?
- 34:03Speaker 1: No? No, no, no no no.
- 34:04Speaker 2: As soon as he lost, I left him. There's too
- 34:07Speaker 2: much chitty chat in there, and I kep getting little bubbles.
- 34:08Speaker 2: I don't like bubbles on my stuff. Yeah.
- 34:10Speaker 1: I felt bad too, because it says like red or
- 34:12Speaker 1: scene or whatever by whoever. And when he was in play,
- 34:15Speaker 1: it was like everyone that respond look, look, look. As
- 34:18Speaker 1: soon as he said I'm out, I just ignored every Yeah.
- 34:20Speaker 2: I thought would be like a text where it's Bobby's
- 34:21Speaker 2: left the message.
- 34:22Speaker 1: I just left, you know. I was like, no, I
- 34:25Speaker 1: never said that five.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Thousand, but he uh man to the top three thousand ish?
- 34:31Speaker 2: Good run did not make it. If he came back again,
- 34:33Speaker 2: I said he was gonna do it next year? Would
- 34:35Speaker 2: you reinvest?
- 34:36Speaker 1: Yeah, because he seems like a smart player from all
- 34:38Speaker 1: the updates he had, like he was he had a
- 34:40Speaker 1: good role. But once those blinds get big.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Like, well you have to have money. Yeah, you got
- 34:44Speaker 2: to build up kevin'rehaking your head.
- 34:45Speaker 6: No, yeah, I don't believe him. I think I think
- 34:47Speaker 6: next year you would the tone in your voice. Yeah.
- 34:52Speaker 1: It was fun though, to follow him right bones, like,
- 34:54Speaker 1: just to kind of see where he was. I didn't
- 34:56Speaker 1: realize they were ten thousand players, Like I know he
- 34:58Speaker 1: told us that, but then you but.
- 35:00Speaker 2: He told us that, So that's when you should have realized.
- 35:02Speaker 1: But I didn't even That's when I got out how
- 35:04Speaker 1: crazy that is.
- 35:05Speaker 2: I would I would hop in again with him. Yeah,
- 35:08Speaker 2: he made it. I made it. Beat seventy percent of
- 35:09Speaker 2: the field. I think he needed to go cut that
- 35:11Speaker 2: in half again to fifteen hundred to make money. I
- 35:14Speaker 2: think he's a pretty good player, so I would reinvest
- 35:16Speaker 2: with them if he was doing it.
- 35:17Speaker 1: Imagine if you had good cards, because a.
- 35:19Speaker 2: Lot it's not really it's about the cards, But it's
- 35:21Speaker 2: not really about the cards. It's about the decisions you
- 35:23Speaker 2: make with the cards that you have.
- 35:24Speaker 1: Right, And I feel like he did that this time around,
- 35:26Speaker 1: Like made really good decisions with mediocre cards, because.
- 35:29Speaker 2: I didn't say had mediocre cards. Because sometimes you'll get
- 35:31Speaker 2: you'll hip pocket kings and you'll understand you probably have
- 35:33Speaker 2: to fold kings. That's two kings, and you're yeah that
- 35:36Speaker 2: nobody else can see if there are like three diamonds
- 35:39Speaker 2: on the board and you know there's just a lot.
- 35:41Speaker 2: So I didn't see the cards, so I can't call
- 35:43Speaker 2: that situation. I'm gonna assume everybody gets equally good and
- 35:45Speaker 2: bad cards, and it's decisions made with the cards you
- 35:47Speaker 2: have versus what the people are doing. Yeah, he did
- 35:50Speaker 2: not win. I would reinvest with them. I'm in again,
- 35:53Speaker 2: he'sn't asking right now, but yeah, do you think you'll
- 35:56Speaker 2: do it?
- 35:56Speaker 1: Again.
- 35:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I think it paid for half his
- 35:59Speaker 2: entry fee. Yeah, heck yeah, I should.
- 36:02Speaker 1: Go play it.
- 36:02Speaker 4: And this is what he does. It's not like a hobby, you.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Know, right, do they have crap? No, it is kind
- 36:06Speaker 1: of a side.
- 36:06Speaker 2: I think it is a hobby. I don't think it's
- 36:07Speaker 2: professional poker player.
- 36:09Speaker 1: He has a job.
- 36:10Speaker 2: He taught people how to do how to play what
- 36:12Speaker 2: it was. Yeah, but he has a job. He's like
- 36:14Speaker 2: in media or like market marketing. Market Yeah yeah, righty right,
- 36:18Speaker 2: it's marketing, okay. John Lepley update. John Lepley is the
- 36:22Speaker 2: minor league baseball player that I texted. Remember I was
- 36:25Speaker 2: like the only person that ever give me autograph as
- 36:27Speaker 2: a kid. Yes, I've heard nothing.
- 36:30Speaker 1: He played for the Arkansas Travelers.
- 36:32Speaker 2: I think he just changed his number because it came
- 36:33Speaker 2: back green. So I think we find his his page again.
- 36:38Speaker 2: What was it?
- 36:39Speaker 1: A LinkedIn?
- 36:40Speaker 2: A LinkedIn with the email? I think it is an email,
- 36:42Speaker 2: the LinkedIn email now instead of text it. So the
- 36:46Speaker 2: update there is I've got nothing back, but I'm going
- 36:49Speaker 2: to email that now. Something can find that page again.
- 36:52Speaker 4: His LinkedIn?
- 36:53Speaker 2: Yeah, and I'll just email that on there. I've got
- 36:55Speaker 2: three updates. Another update DeAndre Hopkins.
- 36:58Speaker 1: Yeah DM.
- 36:59Speaker 2: Oh so Katie's advice was to follow him, but just
- 37:02Speaker 2: be cool about it and then maybe he'd see it
- 37:04Speaker 2: and follow back. Right. Oh, no, he doesn't follow me back.
- 37:07Speaker 2: I'm about I'm about to unfollow him, dude. So he's
- 37:10Speaker 2: the receiver for the Titans that I met when I
- 37:12Speaker 2: was on a work trip in France, of all places,
- 37:15Speaker 2: and I d M him.
- 37:17Speaker 5: He DMed me.
- 37:18Speaker 2: Back, and then I was like, what do I do?
- 37:21Speaker 2: So I followed him. He did not follow me back.
- 37:24Speaker 2: We are not going steady. Best case scenario is that
- 37:27Speaker 2: he saw it right away and didn't want to be
- 37:29Speaker 2: too eager and waited and you're planning these these ultra
- 37:33Speaker 2: positive seeds in my head that are not going to
- 37:34Speaker 2: ever grow anything.
- 37:35Speaker 3: Just trying to help.
- 37:37Speaker 2: Okay, you find you find it over there, Kevin.
- 37:40Speaker 4: He saw his last name.
- 37:40Speaker 2: I think it's l E P L E Y.
- 37:43Speaker 4: He is a is it a Wine and Spirits guy?
- 37:45Speaker 2: Now? Yeah, that is him and spirits. I found him,
- 37:50Speaker 2: So what he's doing? Now?
- 37:50Speaker 4: Hook it up, Savannah Georgia.
- 37:53Speaker 2: I'm up for auction now. They just put it up.
- 37:57Speaker 2: It is the I don't even want to say what
- 37:59Speaker 2: it is because I don't want somebody eat me on.
- 38:00Speaker 1: It something you're trying to get.
- 38:02Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, if everybody listening promises they won't go get.
- 38:07Speaker 1: It, No, you can't promise that, but I but I
- 38:13Speaker 1: want to know what it is, so tell.
- 38:15Speaker 2: Us come look at it.
- 38:19Speaker 1: I'm on my way.
- 38:21Speaker 2: I think it would be cool to have, although I
- 38:23Speaker 2: don't know what I would do with it.
- 38:25Speaker 1: But that's everything you have. What do you do with it?
- 38:32Speaker 2: Okay? You need it? Okay, but should I share what
- 38:35Speaker 2: it is? Or will a listener take it? And should I? Just?
- 38:37Speaker 2: Should I get it and then say what it is after?
- 38:40Speaker 1: Yes, get it first. Don't let anyone the risk of
- 38:43Speaker 1: people taking this is not you don't want that, and
- 38:46Speaker 1: you need this.
- 38:47Speaker 2: Do you know what it is? Kiddy?
- 38:48Speaker 3: Have people guess?
- 38:49Speaker 2: Do you know what it is?
- 38:51Speaker 5: Oh?
- 38:51Speaker 2: Wait, I could probably look and see what it is.
- 38:53Speaker 2: It's not an eBay loser.
- 38:55Speaker 1: I think it's safe to say.
- 38:56Speaker 2: No one we'll ever get reads. You do it because
- 38:57Speaker 2: read and I read ELPs we do the count together.
- 39:01Speaker 2: I always see the stuff that he's looking at.
- 39:03Speaker 1: Oh, I always.
- 39:04Speaker 2: Say stuff reed's looking at too, Bose, I'm telling you
- 39:07Speaker 2: anime girls and bikinis.
- 39:13Speaker 1: No, I'm very passionate about this. I think this is
- 39:15Speaker 1: something that you definitely need.
- 39:17Speaker 2: It'd be cool to have. I just don't want to
- 39:19Speaker 2: say because I want to beat me for and I
- 39:20Speaker 2: don't think the bidding is going to go way up
- 39:22Speaker 2: unless I I don't think so either. Highlight the fact
- 39:24Speaker 2: that it's not okay, okay, And then the only other
- 39:29Speaker 2: thing that I was going to mention before we take
- 39:31Speaker 2: a break, and was it Caitlyn Clark set the record
- 39:33Speaker 2: for assist in a game period of any player.
- 39:35Speaker 1: Was that last night?
- 39:36Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 39:36Speaker 1: I watched it.
- 39:37Speaker 2: They lost, but she had nineteen assists Wednesdaynesday night. But
- 39:41Speaker 2: so when we record this part, yes, she had nineteen assists.
- 39:44Speaker 2: That's not like a rookie record that she's breaking. Caitlyn
- 39:46Speaker 2: Clark sets the WNBA record with the nineteen assists and
- 39:48Speaker 2: lost to Wings. Caitlyn Clark broke the record. They lost,
- 39:52Speaker 2: And what's good about breaking this record? And in a loss?
- 39:55Speaker 2: If you break a points record and a loss, it's like, well,
- 39:57Speaker 2: stop being a ball hog. Maybe you could have won
- 39:59Speaker 2: breaking an assist record, it's like you're trying everything to
- 40:01Speaker 2: get everybody involved. They lost. It's the last game league
- 40:05Speaker 2: wide prior to the month long Olympic break. Speaking with
- 40:10Speaker 2: slight bias, I think she is now a top fifteen
- 40:13Speaker 2: player in the WNBA period, not just rookies. I think
- 40:16Speaker 2: she is. She's had rest, they haven't played back to backs.
- 40:18Speaker 2: They went straight from the end of college to draft
- 40:23Speaker 2: game start, no break. She's now thumping people. A rookieer.
- 40:28Speaker 2: She no doubt she went Rookie of the Year, and
- 40:30Speaker 2: angelids me second, she should not. It should not even
- 40:32Speaker 2: be close. But she's killing folks now. And imagine a
- 40:36Speaker 2: month break. I did sell the autograph on this. I
- 40:41Speaker 2: bought the autograph for four to fifty, put it on eBay.
- 40:43Speaker 2: I knew it would go off for more than that.
- 40:45Speaker 2: Read what to go for?
- 40:46Speaker 5: That's what I'm looking up right now.
- 40:47Speaker 2: You got what sold for? I think it was like
- 40:50Speaker 2: five ninety eight, close to it.
- 40:51Speaker 1: Close good.
- 40:53Speaker 2: That's a good little profit.
- 40:55Speaker 4: Nice.
- 40:55Speaker 2: Just so. I knew that card shop had messed up
- 40:57Speaker 2: by leaving at priced at four to fifty, so bought
- 41:01Speaker 2: it for four fifty.
- 41:01Speaker 1: You're like a flipper here, a card flipper.
- 41:03Speaker 2: I don't feel like I can do that enough. I
- 41:06Speaker 2: just felt like that was something I saw the value. Yeah,
- 41:09Speaker 2: but then I got nervous because like the day of
- 41:10Speaker 2: there was like one bid, but they all just weaged
- 41:12Speaker 2: to pounce. I got twenty four points ten for nineteen shooting.
- 41:17Speaker 2: She had nineteen.
- 41:20Speaker 1: That's crazy. And stylish passes too. I didn't sign the back.
- 41:23Speaker 1: I mean we watched.
- 41:24Speaker 2: Who say stylish passage? Yeah, what do you mean? I
- 41:27Speaker 2: don't know papal to.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Is there a word for it? Like, what's the word
- 41:30Speaker 1: for it? Where you throw cool passes under your legs
- 41:33Speaker 1: behind the back, Like, I don't know. Style? Man, it
- 41:37Speaker 1: was with style, but it's you know what. Though I
- 41:40Speaker 1: hadn't watched her play yet, and me and the boys
- 41:42Speaker 1: we sat down and watched the whole game. No, we
- 41:44Speaker 1: saw the Iowa game.
- 41:45Speaker 2: Was she chunking threes? Yeah, she had any of them.
- 41:47Speaker 1: But but she would get she would get covered quickly
- 41:50Speaker 1: and then she would pass it off and then they
- 41:52Speaker 1: would hit threes.
- 41:52Speaker 2: But stylish and.
- 41:55Speaker 1: She's no regular threes. Stylish passes, Oh dude, And she's fast.
- 41:59Speaker 1: She's fast. I didn't realize how fast she was.
- 42:00Speaker 2: It's bulldog, man, she'll fight you too. Yeah, I'm a
- 42:03Speaker 2: big fan. I don't know if I've mentioned that over
- 42:04Speaker 2: the past ever in the history of this show. But
- 42:08Speaker 2: I'm a big fan. Okay, we're gonna take one more break.
- 42:10Speaker 2: We'll be back, all right. To wrap up a couple
- 42:14Speaker 2: of topics I'd like to have here, Brandon Ayuk requested
- 42:17Speaker 2: a trade from the forty nine Ers. The highest paid
- 42:20Speaker 2: player as far as wide receivers goes Justin Jefferson thirty
- 42:23Speaker 2: five million a year. A J. Brown's at number two.
- 42:26Speaker 2: What's crazy is NBA salaries next to NFL salaries. Like
- 42:29Speaker 2: you could be a middle of the road NBA player,
- 42:32Speaker 2: like a seventh man and make what Justin Jefferson makes
- 42:36Speaker 2: a year. Now, granted it's only five spots, or even starting,
- 42:41Speaker 2: it's five spots versus twenty two, so that does make sense.
- 42:44Speaker 2: But Justin Jefferson, A J. Brown, Monroe, Saint Brown, Tyreek Kill,
- 42:48Speaker 2: Jalen Water. Those are the top five. I could probably
- 42:50Speaker 2: list you somebody from the Timberwolves. It comes off the bench,
- 42:54Speaker 2: plays three minutes a game that makes equally what these
- 42:56Speaker 2: guys make. But where does Brandon Ayuck fall into these receivers?
- 43:01Speaker 2: Is he a top ten receiver? No, you don't think so.
- 43:05Speaker 1: I would do twenty five.
- 43:07Speaker 2: I didn't ask you how much you would spend because
- 43:09Speaker 2: you don't have.
- 43:09Speaker 1: No top twenty five.
- 43:10Speaker 2: Oh yeah, we were talking about money. No ranking the
- 43:17Speaker 2: top twenty way better than top twenty five, I think so.
- 43:20Speaker 1: I mean I would say not Deebo Samuel Brandon ayut,
- 43:24Speaker 1: I know.
- 43:25Speaker 2: I'm familiar with the two names and the different letters.
- 43:27Speaker 1: And different making sure.
- 43:31Speaker 2: I would say right around in the top nine, ten
- 43:33Speaker 2: to eleven range, I would say too when given the opportunity,
- 43:38Speaker 2: and he was given opportunities. He played extremely effective and
- 43:41Speaker 2: at times uh sensational. But again that ball, they only
- 43:45Speaker 2: have one ball, and they've got McCaffrey, Debo Kittle. I
- 43:50Speaker 2: mean what you got through all the way, he was
- 43:51Speaker 2: like the fourth weapon there. I think he's probably in
- 43:56Speaker 2: that eight nine. I think he's a top ten receiver.
- 43:59Speaker 4: You, Yeah, right on the edge right there.
- 44:01Speaker 2: Justin Jefferson's better, Jamar Chase. Jamar Chase is better, A J.
- 44:05Speaker 2: Brown's better. The fact that A mon ros Saint Brown
- 44:09Speaker 2: played with the broken the rib separated along Seid crazy.
- 44:12Speaker 2: Have you guys watched receivers on Netflix?
- 44:14Speaker 4: No yet haven't.
- 44:16Speaker 1: I mean I didn't finish quarterbacks, so I'm thinking, like,
- 44:18Speaker 1: why am I going to like receivers.
- 44:20Speaker 4: I'm gonna try it.
- 44:21Speaker 2: Tyreek Hill is probably three in my list though, if
- 44:23Speaker 2: we'd list him in order. So those guys, DeVante Adams
- 44:27Speaker 2: just has nobody throwing the ball, but sure it's still
- 44:28Speaker 2: a monster. Cooper Cup, Yeah, it just hurt. It feels
- 44:33Speaker 2: like he's always hurt, doesn't it?
- 44:35Speaker 6: Just last year, the last couple of years ever since
- 44:38Speaker 6: they won Super Bowl?
- 44:39Speaker 2: Okay, what about like a Devanta Smith.
- 44:43Speaker 1: Just hasn't proven himself on the thing. Really middle of
- 44:46Speaker 1: the road. A lot of hype coming out of college,
- 44:48Speaker 1: but middle of the road.
- 44:50Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot of hype, you know why he Yeah,
- 44:53Speaker 2: what about like a Nico Collins.
- 44:56Speaker 6: See that's where I think where he is in that
- 44:58Speaker 6: second Yeah, right there, right there in the Smith and
- 45:01Speaker 6: Collin's area.
- 45:02Speaker 2: Uh. Speaking of football NFL, the Bears, everybody's wondering because
- 45:06Speaker 2: those rookies hadn't signed deals yet. They reach their deals
- 45:09Speaker 2: with Kayleb Williams and Roboons, which is good because now
- 45:13Speaker 2: camp starts. That'd be awesome to be starting quarterback.
- 45:16Speaker 1: That'll be amazing.
- 45:18Speaker 2: Yes, Like what I wonder is this is when my
- 45:20Speaker 2: head really goes with being a quarterback in the NFL.
- 45:24Speaker 2: Are they like, oh man, this is gonna hurt every
- 45:26Speaker 2: day they going? Or are they like this is gonna
- 45:28Speaker 2: be so much fun? Or are they like I'm really
- 45:33Speaker 2: prepared and yeah, I hope. Like when I play the
- 45:35Speaker 2: softball game, I knew I could probably tear, I could
- 45:38Speaker 2: probably pull in hamstring or something. Finding stretch right or
- 45:41Speaker 2: I have tend and eyes on my feet which I
- 45:42Speaker 2: could see rounding third to one point, I pulled up
- 45:44Speaker 2: a little bit. I was like, yeah, So I'm like,
- 45:46Speaker 2: I'm probably gonna hurt myself a little bit, but I
- 45:48Speaker 2: can get there. Like do they think that every game
- 45:50Speaker 2: or is it just like fun?
- 45:52Speaker 1: So are you talking about like a rookie or like
- 45:54Speaker 1: just a starting quarterback?
- 45:56Speaker 2: Like do they go every I'm going, oh man, this
- 45:58Speaker 2: is gonna hurt. Let's see if we can or is
- 46:00Speaker 2: it like they're just looking forward to it they don't
- 46:02Speaker 2: feel anything.
- 46:03Speaker 1: I feel like every game is like, ooh, this is
- 46:05Speaker 1: a chance for me to be like a highlight an
- 46:08Speaker 1: awesome star, Like this is another another chance for me
- 46:12Speaker 1: to prove how awesome I am.
- 46:13Speaker 6: I feel like a lot of them are like I've
- 46:14Speaker 6: been the best athlete my entire life. And then you
- 46:16Speaker 6: get to the pros, it's like, oh, this is gonna
- 46:19Speaker 6: be really I feel.
- 46:20Speaker 2: Like everyone's like, oh this is gonna hurt. Yeah, going
- 46:22Speaker 2: into every game like how do I not feel pain? See?
- 46:26Speaker 1: I wonder what the rookies think because they never get
- 46:28Speaker 1: hit in camp and then their first game in the NFL, Like,
- 46:31Speaker 1: what's Caleb Williams thinking like, oh boy, like when I
- 46:33Speaker 1: get hit.
- 46:33Speaker 2: That's a great point because even in practice in the NFL,
- 46:35Speaker 2: they're not letting their their AA games get hard. Their
- 46:38Speaker 2: first real, real, real hit is going to be in
- 46:41Speaker 2: not not even in camp, It'll be and uh I
- 46:44Speaker 2: was gonna say spring training.
- 46:45Speaker 1: I guess preseason.
- 46:46Speaker 2: Ok.
- 46:47Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, because they play even if.
- 46:50Speaker 2: They're doing the two teams with each other, there's those
- 46:52Speaker 2: defensive guys still are not going to crush therect franchise quarterbacks. Yeah.
- 46:57Speaker 2: Jordan Addison arrested on suspicion of DUI dumb dumb And
- 47:01Speaker 2: then I played college football. I played first time this morning?
- 47:04Speaker 1: When was it?
- 47:05Speaker 2: Okay? So I've only played once and I'm Arkansas and
- 47:09Speaker 2: we're like eighty two. We're okay, We're good enough to
- 47:13Speaker 2: build off of. I've played Madden so long the gameplay
- 47:16Speaker 2: is similar, it's not the same. So it's definitely not
- 47:20Speaker 2: a repurposed Madden, which is what it used to be
- 47:22Speaker 2: back in the day, so it is a bit different.
- 47:25Speaker 2: I would say the gameplay itself, if Madden is the baseline,
- 47:28Speaker 2: we'll say Madden is an A. I would say this
- 47:30Speaker 2: is an A minus gameplay. However, everything around it is
- 47:33Speaker 2: a freaking A plus plus plus, from the recruiting to
- 47:36Speaker 2: the portal, to the crowd, the different the announce The
- 47:42Speaker 2: game is so good only one day of play, watching
- 47:45Speaker 2: a lot of TikTok videos, it's so good. The game
- 47:50Speaker 2: play itself is good, but everything around it makes it
- 47:53Speaker 2: so much fun.
- 47:53Speaker 1: Who's the announcer, Herbstreet?
- 47:55Speaker 2: Like, I got a pipeline. My pipeline is Central Texas
- 47:57Speaker 2: up through Arkansas, and so that's where I get a
- 48:00Speaker 2: lot of my recruits from.
- 48:02Speaker 4: That's detail.
- 48:04Speaker 6: It's a detailed I can't wait to hear you ask
- 48:06Speaker 6: these college coaches as we continue too much access.
- 48:08Speaker 4: Hey what you guys, some recruiting tips for.
- 48:10Speaker 2: Me exactly because that'll be the next like talk shop,
- 48:14Speaker 2: you know, I'll tell you some stuff and working for me.
- 48:18Speaker 2: I had a dude for fifty for fifty points. I
- 48:19Speaker 2: sent the house, offered eight scholarships blindly, without even recruiting.
- 48:23Speaker 2: I didn't know what I was doing, and so I
- 48:25Speaker 2: was just like that kid looks good. Offered eight scholarships
- 48:27Speaker 2: and I hit one of them accepted immediately because I
- 48:29Speaker 2: offered him so early. And it was a three star
- 48:31Speaker 2: kid with an X over the diamond, meaning he wasn't
- 48:33Speaker 2: as good as the one what he I know, But
- 48:36Speaker 2: I'm loyal, all right, I'm riding, all right, riding with him.
- 48:39Speaker 2: All Right, We're out, Thank you everybody. We're gonna be
- 48:43Speaker 2: back early next week. We have an interview with Steve
- 48:46Speaker 2: Young coming up.
- 48:47Speaker 4: Awesome.
- 48:48Speaker 2: It was awesome, cool, he's the greatest. I think he's
- 48:51Speaker 2: the new leader in the clubhouse. Great skuy Ever oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 48:56Speaker 2: ever Yeah.
- 48:57Speaker 1: I mean I came home told my wife every single
- 48:59Speaker 1: story or he told us, and I'm sure she didn't
- 49:01Speaker 1: care one bit.
- 49:02Speaker 2: But it was awesome. Steve Young will be next week.
- 49:04Speaker 2: We have even like the Dylan Gabriel interview at Oregon. Yeah,
- 49:08Speaker 2: we have so much. We just don't want to give
- 49:09Speaker 2: it to you now because we need content sometimes. Hope.
- 49:13Speaker 2: You guys have a great weekend and anything I'm missing.
- 49:17Speaker 2: We felt felt pretty good. Yeah all right, We will
- 49:20Speaker 2: see you guys next week, both to us letting alright,
- 49:22Speaker 2: bye every buddy.
