- 0:00Speaker 1: The mark simone show on wor.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Hey welcome to hour number three oh god that's right
- 0:11Speaker 2: hour number three it's nine to noon every day nine
- 0:14Speaker 2: to noon every day so uh bruce blakeman will be
- 0:18Speaker 2: with us later this hour i think he's got an
- 0:19Speaker 2: excellent shot i think he's gonna do it you know
- 0:23Speaker 2: last republican governor was george pataki blakeman kind of uh
- 0:27Speaker 2: similar to pataki in many ways just a You know,
- 0:31Speaker 2: not a big partisan sort of a guy, just a
- 0:33Speaker 2: very common sense guy. Real common sense, good leadership. Very
- 0:39Speaker 2: likable guy with no baggage at all. You know, the
- 0:43Speaker 2: Democrats in Hochul, they have been investigating Blakeman around the clock.
- 0:48Speaker 2: I mean, they've been doing opposition research on him. And
- 0:52Speaker 2: guess what they found? Nothing. Not a damn thing. That's
- 0:55Speaker 2: why they're trying to do attack ads on him. The
- 0:58Speaker 2: only thing that can attack him on is friends with
- 1:00Speaker 2: Donald Trump. That's the attack. They couldn't find anything to
- 1:03Speaker 2: get this guy on. And give Blakeman credit. He could
- 1:09Speaker 2: go after Hochul for a lot of things. That very
- 1:11Speaker 2: shady stadium deal. He could go after her for that
- 1:15Speaker 2: very sleazy contract she handed out for the virus testing.
- 1:19Speaker 2: She took it away from the normal company that does
- 1:22Speaker 2: it and gave it to a big donor company that
- 1:24Speaker 2: had no experience in testing. And it raised the price
- 1:28Speaker 2: for everybody. But there's a lot, a lot that he
- 1:31Speaker 2: could have done. But he's a very gracious guy, wants
- 1:34Speaker 2: to win on the issues. You know, they keep trying
- 1:40Speaker 2: to convince everybody. It's a couple of things. One, the
- 1:43Speaker 2: polls are as fake and as rigged as ever. That
- 1:47Speaker 2: Quinnipiac poll that came out last week, ridiculous if you
- 1:49Speaker 2: look in the metrics, preposterous. They had the sample was 80% Democrats, 80%
- 1:56Speaker 2: Democrats in the sample. It was ridiculous. They didn't use
- 2:01Speaker 2: voter rolls. It was crazy. So you see that all
- 2:04Speaker 2: the time with these media polls, these college polls. The
- 2:07Speaker 2: idea is to call them suppression polls. They're to convince
- 2:10Speaker 2: you the Republican has no chance. Don't even go to vote.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Don't just stay home. Now, this is not the case.
- 2:16Speaker 2: It's neck and neck right now. The race is all
- 2:19Speaker 2: about turnout. So if you turn out, Republicans turn out,
- 2:23Speaker 2: they'll win. If Democrats turn out, they'll win. And again,
- 2:27Speaker 2: early voting all this week. It's real easy. Just go
- 2:30Speaker 2: vote this week. Early voting means no line. Easy to do.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Breeze right through. Pick whatever day you want this week.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Whatever's convenient. As I said, we'll talk to Blakeman later
- 2:40Speaker 2: this hour. Zelensky says he has agreed. Russia's agreed. There
- 2:47Speaker 2: will be trilateral talks. In November, it sounds very impressive,
- 2:56Speaker 2: trilateral talks. It means three people are talking. So if
- 3:01Speaker 2: you're talking to your friend about something and somebody else
- 3:04Speaker 2: comes over and joins the conversation, now you're in trilateral talks.
- 3:09Speaker 2: It sounds very impressive. It just means three. Zelensky, he
- 3:15Speaker 2: looks very difficult to deal with, doesn't he? I mean,
- 3:18Speaker 2: if you went to meet your landlord and it was Zelensky,
- 3:21Speaker 2: wouldn't you go, oh, my God. It's going to be trouble.
- 3:23Speaker 2: But Zelensky has agreed he will be in these talks.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Grateful at the moments when we really feel this, then
- 3:33Speaker 3: to be grateful.
- 3:34Speaker 2: I don't know. He just sounds like, I mean, would
- 3:39Speaker 2: you really trust this guy?
- 3:40Speaker 3: Except that the territory which is temporarily occupied will be
- 3:44Speaker 3: Russian territory.
- 3:45Speaker 1: We can't do it.
- 3:47Speaker 2: I don't know. If you were getting your car fixed
- 3:49Speaker 2: and this guy came in, you know you need this
- 3:52Speaker 2: replaced and you need to replace it. Would you really
- 3:56Speaker 2: trust him? I don't know. President Trump going to a
- 4:01Speaker 2: different state every day. He'll be in seven states in
- 4:07Speaker 2: the next week. Eight states, actually. There's eight days till
- 4:09Speaker 2: the election. Trump out on the campaign trail going after
- 4:14Speaker 2: Elon Omar.
- 4:15Speaker 3: You know what that is? That's a legal answer. The
- 4:19Speaker 3: lawyer said answer it that way.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Oh, here's what he's talking about. So did she marry
- 4:24Speaker 2: her brother? Well, she went on MSNBC and they asked
- 4:30Speaker 2: her directly, did you marry? Listen to the answer.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Who was this man that was your husband?
- 4:35Speaker 4: When did they start saying that he was your brother?
- 4:37Speaker 5: Why?
- 4:37Speaker 2: You were not related to him at all.
- 4:41Speaker 6: Not to my knowledge.
- 4:45Speaker 2: See, now normally if somebody said, did you marry your brother?
- 4:47Speaker 2: You'd say, no, what are you talking about? But she said,
- 4:51Speaker 2: not to my knowledge. Very bizarre. So this is President Trump.
- 4:57Speaker 2: You know what that is?
- 4:57Speaker 3: That's a legal answer. The lawyers said, answer it that way.
- 5:02Speaker 3: If they ask you that question, say, to the best
- 5:06Speaker 3: of my knowledge, and then give any answer you want,
- 5:10Speaker 3: When she says that, that was the end of that.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Pretty crazy.
- 5:14Speaker 3: Therefore, because she used a fake name to be sworn in,
- 5:18Speaker 3: I am assuming that we must immediately, she has to
- 5:22Speaker 3: resign from Congress.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a lot of evidence. Looks like they'll get her.
- 5:28Speaker 3: I was saddened to hear that Ilhan Omar is not
- 5:31Speaker 3: her name, but because Ilhan.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Used a fake.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Name to be sworn in. I assume that she must
- 5:38Speaker 3: immediately resign from Congress.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Yeah, so she's lawyered up with some heavyweight D.C. lawyers,
- 5:45Speaker 2: and she will try to fight this. But who knows?
- 5:47Speaker 2: Who knows? If they start piling up a lot of evidence,
- 5:51Speaker 2: who knows? She might just leave the country. You never know.
- 5:55Speaker 2: She's one flight risk you'd be happy about.
- 5:58Speaker 6: Good.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Let her leave. Let her go. uh iran they say
- 6:02Speaker 2: is in the advanced stages of planning attacks against americans
- 6:06Speaker 2: not here not here in the mid-east jay clayton director
- 6:09Speaker 2: of national intelligence said agencies received intelligence that iran is
- 6:14Speaker 2: increasing efforts to target u.s personnel that we'd be talking
- 6:17Speaker 2: about in qatar saudi arabia in the middle east and
- 6:21Speaker 2: uh oh they say potential targets in europe and u.s
- 6:24Speaker 2: but They also believe Iran does not have the capability
- 6:28Speaker 2: to carry out anything in the U.S. right now. But
- 6:32Speaker 2: we are telling our personnel in embassies, other places, to
- 6:36Speaker 2: get out of there in the Middle East, to leave.
- 6:40Speaker 2: You know, with the gas prices, all that, it raised
- 6:42Speaker 2: the price of airline tickets. But we're hearing from within
- 6:47Speaker 2: the airline industry that this spike in ticket prices is
- 6:52Speaker 2: not going to go away. Fuel prices will drop dramatically
- 6:55Speaker 2: once they settle things in Iran, which will probably be
- 6:58Speaker 2: two weeks from now after the election. But once they
- 7:02Speaker 2: do that, gas prices will plunge. They'll drop in half
- 7:07Speaker 2: just like that. But people in the airline industry saying
- 7:11Speaker 2: the ticket prices will not come down. They'll keep them
- 7:14Speaker 2: where they are. They're making excuses already. The chief of
- 7:18Speaker 2: United Airlines said, He's saying it's very expensive for us
- 7:21Speaker 2: to operate. It's not just the gas. Everything else is
- 7:24Speaker 2: costing a fortune. He says, I think the tide has
- 7:27Speaker 2: to rise for everyone flying on airlines. Well, he's saying
- 7:31Speaker 2: they're going to keep the prices up there. Airlines are 22%
- 7:36Speaker 2: more expensive than a year earlier. Round trip for Thanksgiving
- 7:41Speaker 2: is going to be up 39%. But it's not about
- 7:44Speaker 2: the oil. They're saying they have to do this because
- 7:47Speaker 2: they're paying more for everything. Landing fees are more. Airport
- 7:51Speaker 2: rents are more. They've jumped up. Airlines are paying employees
- 7:55Speaker 2: more than ever because the employees got labor contracts that
- 7:58Speaker 2: were well-negotiated. Pilots are getting more. Flight attendants are getting more.
- 8:03Speaker 2: So they're saying they're going to keep the prices up
- 8:06Speaker 2: where they are. So don't let anybody tell you it's
- 8:07Speaker 2: fuel prices with the airlines. Here's the saddest story of
- 8:11Speaker 2: the week. This is a very pathetic, sad story. Who's
- 8:15Speaker 2: the anchor of the CBS Evening News? Nobody knows. If
- 8:22Speaker 2: I said, who had the anchorman of the CBS Evening
- 8:24Speaker 2: News back in the 70s? Walter Cronkite. Who was the
- 8:28Speaker 2: anchor of the CBS Evening News in the 90s? Dan Rather.
- 8:32Speaker 2: You say now, go stop people in the street. Who's
- 8:34Speaker 2: the anchor of the CBS Evening News? Nobody knows. It's
- 8:41Speaker 2: Tony DeCouple. DeCouple? DeCouple. I don't even know how to
- 8:46Speaker 2: pronounce the guy's name. Can you imagine? You ever think
- 8:49Speaker 2: you see a day where you can be the anchor
- 8:50Speaker 2: of the CBS Evening News, nobody's ever heard of you,
- 8:52Speaker 2: and nobody knows how to say your name? Tony DiCoppo,
- 8:57Speaker 2: he looks like David Muir. I guess that's why they
- 8:59Speaker 2: hired him. David Muir is the ABC Evening News. He
- 9:02Speaker 2: is very successful. That's the most watched show on television
- 9:06Speaker 2: in many weeks. So Tony DiCoppo, the CBS Evening News,
- 9:10Speaker 2: is always in last place, gets wiped out by ABC
- 9:14Speaker 2: and NBC. So what are they doing about it? Well,
- 9:18Speaker 2: listen to this. This is pretty exciting news. Tony DeCouple
- 9:22Speaker 2: is now launching his new podcast. Well, there's a novel idea. Gee,
- 9:27Speaker 2: I never heard anybody having a podcast. What an idea.
- 9:31Speaker 2: A podcast. He'll be joining literally 2.5 million other people
- 9:36Speaker 2: that now do a podcast. The podcast will be called
- 9:41Speaker 2: The Great Question with Tony DeCouple. It'll be twice per week,
- 9:50Speaker 2: Mondays and Wednesdays. Now, listen to this. This is pretty exciting.
- 9:55Speaker 2: DeCouple will focus on one great question. Looking to journalists
- 10:00Speaker 2: or experts to help answer it. My God. Who comes
- 10:05Speaker 2: up with this stuff? First of all, it's a podcast,
- 10:11Speaker 2: which means it's probably an hour, 40 minutes. It's one question.
- 10:16Speaker 6: Who the hell would.
- 10:17Speaker 2: You're doing a podcast. You better have 50 questions in
- 10:20Speaker 2: an hour. One question for the whole hour? With Tony DeCouple.
- 10:24Speaker 2: You think the guy's boring reading the teleprompter for a
- 10:26Speaker 2: minute and a half on CBS Evening News? Watch him
- 10:29Speaker 2: try to fill an hour with that personality. This is
- 10:32Speaker 2: going to be pathetic. First guest is the author Malcolm Gladwell. Well,
- 10:39Speaker 2: he's pretty good. I like him a lot. He'll be good.
- 10:42Speaker 2: DeCouple hopes it'll give viewers a little slice of who
- 10:46Speaker 2: he is. Outside of the evening news. Well, I've met
- 10:51Speaker 2: the guy a few times. I think you're going to
- 10:52Speaker 2: see who he is. He's a very nice, extremely dull guy.
- 10:57Speaker 2: He's the dullest guy in the world. So this is
- 11:02Speaker 2: what everybody thinks. Well, if I did a podcast, well,
- 11:04Speaker 2: that would help. Every author, I don't mean real authors.
- 11:09Speaker 2: I mean somebody with a self-published fake book. Every author.
- 11:12Speaker 2: I'll do a podcast to promote the book. Nobody's reading
- 11:15Speaker 2: your book. Who's going to watch your podcast? So But
- 11:17Speaker 2: this is what they do. You can't stop and you
- 11:21Speaker 2: can't explain it to them. How many people do you
- 11:23Speaker 2: think watch network television every week? It's 25 million. That's it.
- 11:30Speaker 2: It used to be like 150 million. Now it's 25 million.
- 11:33Speaker 2: Network TV. How many people do you think read newspapers
- 11:37Speaker 2: in America? 22 million. That's it. How many people do
- 11:44Speaker 2: you think listen to the radio every week? 159 million.
- 11:48Speaker 2: AM talk radio? 63 million. All right, now here's the
- 11:55Speaker 2: one you probably don't know. How many people do you
- 11:57Speaker 2: think go to Broadway shows in a year? How many
- 11:59Speaker 2: people attend Broadway shows every year? 14 and a half million.
- 12:05Speaker 2: That's not bad. That's not bad. 14 and a half million.
- 12:09Speaker 2: You remember, you know, we're talking about Broadway theaters. They
- 12:12Speaker 2: only have, you know, a thousand seats. That's it. So, hey,
- 12:18Speaker 2: also Bruce Blakeman will be with us in a little bit. Now,
- 12:20Speaker 2: of course, you're going to vote for him for governor.
- 12:22Speaker 2: But when you go to the polls and do the
- 12:24Speaker 2: early voting, don't forget about this attorney general's race. That's
- 12:27Speaker 2: very important. You can get rid of Letitia James. Next week,
- 12:31Speaker 2: you can get rid of her. There's a Republican candidate
- 12:34Speaker 2: for attorney general, brilliant woman, very good. Nobody can remember
- 12:38Speaker 2: her name. It's Sarita Kamateredi or something like that. But
- 12:42Speaker 2: if you've watched the debate, she was great. Very, very
- 12:45Speaker 2: impressive woman. So make sure you vote for her in
- 12:48Speaker 2: the early voting. And, of course, vote for Bruce Blakeman.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Do it this week. It's going to be a big weekend.
- 12:54Speaker 2: So this weekend, you got Halloween, Saturday night. Then later
- 12:59Speaker 2: Saturday night, we go off daylight saving time. You'll get
- 13:02Speaker 2: an extra hour of sleep Saturday night. But then it's
- 13:06Speaker 2: going to be dark out at 5 o'clock every day.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Soon 4.30pm. And then Sunday, you got the New York
- 13:12Speaker 2: City Marathon. That's all this week. Now, Halloween, Saturday night.
- 13:17Speaker 2: What is the number one most popular Halloween candy? It's Reese's.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Which kind of just came along
- 13:28Speaker 2: late in the game. You know, Hershey candy bars are
- 13:30Speaker 2: 100 and something years old. Reese's is a relatively new invention.
- 13:35Speaker 2: But now the number one Halloween candy in America. They
- 13:39Speaker 2: say candy sales this year are below what they normally are.
- 13:44Speaker 2: I don't know why that would be. It could be
- 13:46Speaker 2: a couple of, well, it's more expensive this year. There's
- 13:49Speaker 2: chocolate prices have gone up and all of that. But
- 13:52Speaker 2: it could be, you know, in today's world, when you
- 13:54Speaker 2: were a kid, that's all you do is eat candy
- 13:56Speaker 2: all day. When you were a kid, it was, you know,
- 13:59Speaker 2: Milk Duds and Milky Way and Mounds and M & M' s.
- 14:03Speaker 2: But in today's world, kids aren't allowed to have that
- 14:06Speaker 2: stuff much. Kids today, they make them eat sunflower seeds
- 14:11Speaker 2: and almonds and healthy stuff. Can you imagine when you
- 14:14Speaker 2: were a kid having to eat that? So it could
- 14:16Speaker 2: be that fewer and fewer parents want actual candy given
- 14:21Speaker 2: out on Halloween. Hey, don't forget to follow me on Instagram.
- 14:25Speaker 2: It's Mark Simone, NYC at Instagram. If you haven't signed
- 14:28Speaker 2: up for my Instagram, a lot of pictures, a lot
- 14:30Speaker 2: of stuff up there. Mark Simone, NYC at Instagram. We'll
- 14:34Speaker 2: take some calls next. 800-321-0710 is the number. And we
- 14:40Speaker 2: always like to hear from new callers.
- 14:42Speaker 6: 800-321-0710.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Now, 9 till noon weekdays. Mark Simone.
- 14:47Speaker 6: Only on 710WOR.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Let's take some calls.
- 14:49Speaker 2: 800-321-0710 is the number.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Let's go to Dave in Chicago. Dave, how are you doing?
- 14:53Speaker 2: Good morning, Mark. I'm doing very well, thank you.
- 15:07Speaker 7: Mark, I conducted extensive research during the show this morning
- 15:11Speaker 7: from my daily reports. Al Harris was the former prison
- 15:15Speaker 7: guard comedian.
- 15:17Speaker 2: That's right.
- 15:18Speaker 8: Now, Mark, you're going to find this interesting.
- 15:21Speaker 7: He used to send you numerous gifts at the W.R.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Studios.
- 15:26Speaker 7: He was always out of breath. I'm reading this from
- 15:28Speaker 7: the report. And he was always begging you for more
- 15:32Speaker 7: time to tell one last joke.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Yeah, Al Harris. We don't know what happened to him.
- 15:37Speaker 2: He just stopped calling all of a sudden.
- 15:39Speaker 9: He did.
- 15:40Speaker 7: Mark, he stopped calling in.
- 15:42Speaker 2: What does it say here?
- 15:44Speaker 7: He stopped calling in 2014.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Now, Dave is our most loyal listener. Dave keeps track
- 15:49Speaker 2: of every show, every minute, everything. He puts together these
- 15:52Speaker 2: diaries of the show. And he's the archivist of this show.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Very good, Dave. Excellent. Thanks for calling. Let's go to...
- 16:03Speaker 2: Let's go to Liz in White Plains. Liz, hang on.
- 16:07Speaker 2: How do we... Let me see. Liz in White Plains,
- 16:11Speaker 2: are you there? Yeah. Hi, Mark.
- 16:14Speaker 7: How are you?
- 16:14Speaker 6: Good.
- 16:14Speaker 2: How are you doing?
- 16:17Speaker 8: I love Bruce Lightman and about... I live in very blue,
- 16:22Speaker 8: liberal White Plains, New York. It's a one-party town. Has
- 16:25Speaker 8: been for years.
- 16:26Speaker 6: Well, I don't know.
- 16:27Speaker 2: I know a lot of Republicans in White Plains. Rob
- 16:29Speaker 2: Astorino served there. He was the... Republican county executive.
- 16:36Speaker 8: My husband ran for county legislator with Rob Esther, you know,
- 16:41Speaker 8: and just barely missed it. He was a Republican.
- 16:43Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 16:44Speaker 8: But a couple of weeks ago, I put up my
- 16:46Speaker 8: Bruce Blakeman sign. And then all of a sudden, they
- 16:50Speaker 8: started sprouting up all over my neighborhood. And this is
- 16:54Speaker 8: truly amazing. This never happens in White Plains. There was
- 16:57Speaker 8: one Kathy Hochul sign. And also regarding George Pataki, my
- 17:02Speaker 8: husband ran for mayor of White Plains years ago, and
- 17:05Speaker 8: Pataki came down to do a little press conference with him.
- 17:08Speaker 8: What an impressive man.
- 17:10Speaker 2: What are we supposed to do with this information?
- 17:11Speaker 8: Just talking about Pataki. We were bringing him up before.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 17:16Speaker 8: He's such an impressive guy.
- 17:18Speaker 2: He's a very nice man. He's doing great work now,
- 17:20Speaker 2: helping out Hungary and doing all kinds of charitable work.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Thanks for calling, Liz. Yeah, that's interesting. White Plains, that's
- 17:27Speaker 2: a good barometer. if it's all Bruce Blakeman signs, very
- 17:31Speaker 2: good barometer. You know, you drive around the suburbs, you know,
- 17:34Speaker 2: we don't have this in the city, but you drive
- 17:36Speaker 2: out in the suburbs, they got the lawn sign for
- 17:39Speaker 2: the Democrat. Then next to it for the Republican. Then
- 17:43Speaker 2: next to it, it's a sign for the independent. And
- 17:45Speaker 2: then next thing you know, there's 42 signs on the corner.
- 17:47Speaker 2: It's just a sea of lawn signs. So it totally,
- 17:50Speaker 2: they all neutralize each other, basically. Let's go to Mara
- 17:54Speaker 2: in Nevada. Mara, how you doing?
- 17:56Speaker 6: Good, good, good.
- 17:57Speaker 5: I'm going to give you an Al joke. And now
- 18:01Speaker 5: Al called. It was after Tim Cook took over for
- 18:04Speaker 5: Steve Jobs.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Yes.
- 18:06Speaker 5: And he came out as gay. Al called and said,
- 18:10Speaker 5: would you call that an Apple turnover? I do laugh
- 18:14Speaker 5: when I think of that. Is he funny? Whatever happened
- 18:17Speaker 5: to Al?
- 18:18Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 18:19Speaker 5: And Joe from Long Island, where are they? Why don't
- 18:21Speaker 5: they call him?
- 18:22Speaker 2: Who's Joe from Long Island? I don't remember him.
- 18:23Speaker 5: He used to call him meh, meh, meh, meh.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Oh.
- 18:27Speaker 9: He doesn't call meh.
- 18:28Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 18:28Speaker 2: All right. Well, that Al Harris, that's interesting.
- 18:30Speaker 5: Isn't that a funny joke?
- 18:32Speaker 2: It's okay.
- 18:33Speaker 1: I love it.
- 18:33Speaker 9: It's okay.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Well, listen, let's put it this way. If you're playing
- 18:36Speaker 2: Madison Square Garden, don't close with that joke.
- 18:39Speaker 6: Anyway.
- 18:40Speaker 5: Okay, I will.
- 18:41Speaker 2: All right, thanks. Let's go to David in Hopit Kong.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Hopit Kong.
- 18:50Speaker 9: Hey, I love your show. I've been listening forever on WOR.
- 18:55Speaker 9: Bernard Melcher, Rambling with Gambling. Love it, love it, love it.
- 19:00Speaker 9: Now you're on three hours, though, right?
- 19:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:03Speaker 9: When you used to have Joe Bartlett to, like, you know,
- 19:07Speaker 9: run things over with him, you'd be like, the bantering,
- 19:11Speaker 9: that was great. So I think you need like another,
- 19:14Speaker 9: like an epic man.
- 19:15Speaker 2: First of all, you thought Bernard Meltzer was great, so
- 19:17Speaker 2: we're not going to go by you.
- 19:19Speaker 9: Yeah, but me, I could do it. I would do
- 19:21Speaker 9: it for you for nothing. I could be your sidekick.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Well, that might be a good idea, because a lot
- 19:27Speaker 2: of times, we want to have a guy who talks
- 19:29Speaker 2: like this the whole time, who's yelling on the show.
- 19:30Speaker 2: You've got to talk softer.
- 19:33Speaker 9: No, I would talk a lot softer. We can meet
- 19:35Speaker 9: over lunch or something. I would love to have lunch
- 19:37Speaker 9: with you.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm busy that week, but any other time.
- 19:41Speaker 9: All right, well.
- 19:42Speaker 2: All right, thanks for slowing us up here. Anyway, well, listen,
- 19:46Speaker 2: Bernard Meltzer was, believe it or not, at one time,
- 19:49Speaker 2: the number one most listened to talk show on radio.
- 19:54Speaker 2: I think it was the early eighties. He was on,
- 19:59Speaker 2: he was so successful. Number one, he was on every
- 20:04Speaker 2: night and then they put them on Saturday and Sunday. And, uh,
- 20:10Speaker 2: Is he gone? He's dead, right? All right, now let's
- 20:12Speaker 2: tell the truth. This guy, he wasn't even a doctor.
- 20:15Speaker 2: You know, every caller, hello, Dr. Meltzer? Yes, my dear,
- 20:19Speaker 2: what is it? He wasn't actually a doctor. He got
- 20:21Speaker 2: some college to give him a degree in music or something,
- 20:25Speaker 2: honorary degree. And he would give you all this advice
- 20:28Speaker 2: and he was so nice at the end of the call,
- 20:31Speaker 2: he would say, you know what? I'm going to send
- 20:33Speaker 2: you two t-shirts. Oh, thank you, Dr.
- 20:36Speaker 6: Meltzer.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Hang on, we'll get your name and address. And then,
- 20:39Speaker 2: Whatever your problem was, a legal problem, he would sell
- 20:42Speaker 2: your name and address to the lawyers. If it was
- 20:44Speaker 2: a medical problem, he'd give it to some ambulance chasers.
- 20:49Speaker 2: So he was unbelievable. He was quite the disheveled guy
- 20:53Speaker 2: in real life, but he was big. Let's go to
- 20:58Speaker 2: Christine in... I can't see what it says. Christine, how
- 21:02Speaker 2: are you doing?
- 21:04Speaker 8: I'm good, thank you.
- 21:06Speaker 7: Is this Mr.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Yes.
- 21:09Speaker 6: Am I on the radio?
- 21:10Speaker 2: You're on something, I can tell. No, yes, you're on
- 21:11Speaker 2: the radio.
- 21:13Speaker 9: Oh, my goodness.
- 21:17Speaker 8: I only have a question.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Go ahead.
- 21:19Speaker 5: Not relating.
- 21:20Speaker 8: It's about the contest.
- 21:22Speaker 2: All right, go ahead.
- 21:24Speaker 5: I don't want to be on the radio.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Oh, okay. Well, we'll take it off here. Let's go
- 21:28Speaker 2: to Vincent in Brooklyn. Vincent, how you doing?
- 21:31Speaker 10: Good morning, Mark. Mark, I'm okay. Speaking about Bernard Meltzer,
- 21:35Speaker 10: He was my mother's favorite radio host. This is 40
- 21:41Speaker 10: years ago.
- 21:42Speaker 2: Women went crazy for him.
- 21:44Speaker 10: She listened to him religiously. And heaven forbid if you
- 21:48Speaker 10: tried to interrupt her while she was listening to his show. Mark,
- 21:53Speaker 10: you speak about early voting. I would love to go
- 21:57Speaker 10: vote early. The problem is the nearest early voting polling
- 22:01Speaker 10: place in my neighborhood is is fairly far away, and
- 22:06Speaker 10: it's down in the ghetto. I might not make it
- 22:08Speaker 10: there unless I.
- 22:10Speaker 2: My money's on you.
- 22:11Speaker 10: Well, yeah.
- 22:12Speaker 2: I think you'll be okay in the ghetto.
- 22:15Speaker 10: Unless I'm packed in heat, I wouldn't make it. Michael
- 22:20Speaker 10: Goodwin was right on the money about Julie Menem putting
- 22:24Speaker 10: her finger to the wind because this past Friday, the
- 22:28Speaker 10: New York Post ran a whole story about How the
- 22:33Speaker 10: bill that Julie Manning and Sandy Nurse from Brooklyn, the representative,
- 22:41Speaker 10: Mandami signed this bill into law that you had to
- 22:45Speaker 10: offer your properties to the nonprofit first before you could
- 22:49Speaker 10: put it on the market.
- 22:51Speaker 2: And my daughter signed it, but she.
- 22:53Speaker 10: Then realized that there were a lot of holes.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Yeah, she did flip-flop on that. Vincent, we've got to
- 22:58Speaker 2: go do the news, but good point. She is quite
- 23:00Speaker 2: the flip-flopper. Her finger to the wind might be which
- 23:03Speaker 2: way the donors are blowing. Anyway, thanks for calling. When
- 23:06Speaker 2: we come back, we'll talk to Bruce Blakeman. We'll get
- 23:09Speaker 2: the latest on the race next on 710WOR.
- 23:13Speaker 1: It's the Mark Simone Show. Live from the WOR LifeVac Studios.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Well, Bruce Blakeman, of course, most likely you're going to
- 23:23Speaker 2: be the next governor of New York, but he needs
- 23:25Speaker 2: your help. Two things. You can donate. Go to BlakemanForNewYork.com.
- 23:29Speaker 2: It'll still help. BlakemanForNewYork.com. And then make sure you vote.
- 23:33Speaker 2: You may be a big supporter, but turnout is the key.
- 23:36Speaker 2: You can do the early voting this week. Get out
- 23:38Speaker 2: there and vote for Bruce Blakeman. Bruce Blakeman, how you doing?
- 23:44Speaker 6: We're doing great, Mark. It's the final push. I got
- 23:47Speaker 6: eight days and... We're crisscrossing the state, and we're having
- 23:51Speaker 6: a great time meeting people. But more importantly, people tell
- 23:56Speaker 6: me wherever I go how miserable they are under Kathy Hochul.
- 23:59Speaker 6: I tell them, help's on the way. Cut taxes. Cut
- 24:02Speaker 6: utility bills. Get back to normal. These people that are
- 24:06Speaker 6: running the state and the city now, they're not normal people.
- 24:09Speaker 6: They don't have American values. And of course, Kathy Hochul
- 24:13Speaker 6: is the most pro-criminal governor in the United States of America.
- 24:17Speaker 6: All of our policies make it easier for criminals to
- 24:20Speaker 6: prey on our communities. That ends when I become governor.
- 24:24Speaker 6: When I become governor, we're no longer a sanctuary state.
- 24:27Speaker 6: We're not going to spend billions of dollars on illegal migrants.
- 24:30Speaker 6: We're going to spend that money on New Yorkers.
- 24:32Speaker 2: You know, some people will actually say, when it comes
- 24:35Speaker 2: to Mamdani, he really is pro-criminal. He really believes all
- 24:38Speaker 2: this crap. But even worse is Hochul, who they think
- 24:42Speaker 2: just does it for political purposes, which makes it even sleazier.
- 24:46Speaker 2: The fact that she's a weather vane, whatever way the
- 24:49Speaker 2: wind is blowing, you've never been like that.
- 24:53Speaker 6: No, listen, the most important thing as far as a
- 24:57Speaker 6: responsibility of an elected official is the safety of our communities.
- 25:01Speaker 6: So it all begins and ends with safety and public health.
- 25:05Speaker 6: And Kathy Hochul has been a disaster. Just think about
- 25:09Speaker 6: the hospitals that have been defunded around the state. She's
- 25:12Speaker 6: spending that money on illegal migrants when she should be
- 25:15Speaker 6: spending it on our hospitals. She's not spending it on
- 25:17Speaker 6: our schools. She's not spending it on our infrastructure. She's
- 25:21Speaker 6: not cutting taxes. She's not cutting utility bills. She's doing
- 25:24Speaker 6: the opposite. We're the highest tax state in America. Her
- 25:27Speaker 6: and Zoran Mondani want to increase taxes next year. God
- 25:30Speaker 6: forbid she should be reelected. I will stop that. We
- 25:33Speaker 6: will not increase taxes. We will cut taxes. Kathy Hochul
- 25:37Speaker 6: has approved 48 utility rate hikes, 48 in four years.
- 25:41Speaker 6: That's almost one a month. No wonder why our utility
- 25:44Speaker 6: rates are 70% higher than the national average and people
- 25:47Speaker 6: can't afford it. Her own state energy budget research department,
- 25:51Speaker 6: her department said that under her policies, it's going to
- 25:55Speaker 6: go up another $ 4, 000 a year. And gasoline prices are
- 25:59Speaker 6: going to go up $ 2. 25 a gallon. We've got to
- 26:03Speaker 6: stop the insanity of Kathy Hoechlin, Zoran Mondami, On Election Day,
- 26:08Speaker 6: vote for Bruce Blakeman. I'll cut taxes, cut utility bills,
- 26:11Speaker 6: and I will make safer communities, just like I did
- 26:14Speaker 6: in my county, where I have the safest county in America,
- 26:17Speaker 6: according to U.S. News & World Report. I cut taxes,
- 26:20Speaker 6: and I haven't raised them in five years one penny.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Yeah. Now, tell people what to do, because I assume
- 26:26Speaker 2: you want early voting. Important to get out and vote early?
- 26:30Speaker 6: Yeah, because you never know what's going to happen on
- 26:32Speaker 6: Election Day. So if you can, get out, go vote early.
- 26:37Speaker 6: If not, on November 3rd, go to your normal and
- 26:39Speaker 6: usual polling place and go out and vote. Listen, you
- 26:42Speaker 6: need to make your voice heard. If good people don't vote,
- 26:45Speaker 6: bad people make the laws. And we know what happens
- 26:49Speaker 6: when that occurs. We have to make sure that we
- 26:51Speaker 6: save our state. We're number 50, Mark, in economic outlook. 50.
- 26:55Speaker 6: There's only 50 states. It doesn't get worse than that.
- 26:58Speaker 6: People are leaving in droves. Jobs are leaving in droves.
- 27:01Speaker 6: People are miserable under Kathy Hochul. I'm a governor that
- 27:04Speaker 6: will put New Yorkers first. every New Yorker, and I
- 27:08Speaker 6: will make you happy again. You deserve a governor that
- 27:11Speaker 6: makes you happy rather than a governor that makes you miserable.
- 27:14Speaker 2: Bruce Blakeman, the fact that she's suddenly campaigning everywhere with Mamdani,
- 27:18Speaker 2: that means she's in panic mode, doesn't it?
- 27:22Speaker 6: Well, according to one Democrat friend of mine who knows
- 27:25Speaker 6: what's going on in her campaign, they told me her
- 27:27Speaker 6: hair was on fire. Their polling is very bad. She
- 27:32Speaker 6: is desperate. Now she's going to the absolute... left wing
- 27:38Speaker 6: of the Democratic Party, the lunatic left. And that's why
- 27:42Speaker 6: every day another Democrat walks up to me and says, Bruce,
- 27:45Speaker 6: I'm a lifelong Democrat, never voted for a Republican in
- 27:48Speaker 6: my life. I'm voting for you this year. I'm voting Republican.
- 27:50Speaker 6: My party has gotten insane. I'm talking about liberal Democrats,
- 27:54Speaker 6: not just, you know, moderate Democrats, liberal Democrats who feel that, yeah,
- 28:00Speaker 6: we're liberal, but we're not crazy. We're not communists. They're
- 28:03Speaker 6: going to go vote for me, so I feel very
- 28:05Speaker 6: confident about this election if everybody gets out to vote.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Yeah, make sure you get out and vote. Now, you
- 28:10Speaker 2: and Kathy Ogle both have access to real polls from
- 28:13Speaker 2: serious real pollsters, but when you see these fake college
- 28:17Speaker 2: polls that have you 15 points behind, what do you
- 28:19Speaker 2: think when you see these?
- 28:21Speaker 6: Well, we looked at the data collection, and it's just
- 28:24Speaker 6: what we thought it was. They overpolled Democrats, underpolled Republicans,
- 28:29Speaker 6: and they overpolled New York City. And why do they
- 28:32Speaker 6: do that? They want to frustrate our turnout. And they
- 28:35Speaker 6: want to frustrate our fundraising. But people aren't buying into it. Look,
- 28:39Speaker 6: if Kathy Hochul was way ahead of me, why would
- 28:42Speaker 6: she spend $ 6 million attacking me last week? Okay? And
- 28:48Speaker 6: raising my name ID. You never do that unless it's
- 28:51Speaker 6: a close race. All she would be doing is positive ads.
- 28:54Speaker 6: But all her ads are negative ads. She can't talk
- 28:57Speaker 6: about her record because her record is miserable. So she
- 29:00Speaker 6: attacks me constantly, not on substance, but on association, you know,
- 29:06Speaker 6: that I'm associated with Trump. Look, I support President Trump.
- 29:10Speaker 6: I agree with President Trump on most things, but I
- 29:13Speaker 6: have disagreements with President Trump and I'm willing to stand up.
- 29:17Speaker 6: I will always do what's best for the people of
- 29:20Speaker 6: New York. Nobody's going to tell me what to do
- 29:22Speaker 6: when it comes to protecting this state and making sure
- 29:25Speaker 6: that we make it affordable for every New Yorker.
- 29:28Speaker 2: You know, Hochul got embarrassed that there were no positive
- 29:31Speaker 2: ads for her. So she's finally come out with positive.
- 29:34Speaker 2: The only positive ad she could come up with is
- 29:36Speaker 2: she fixed a school lunch program. Is that it? That's
- 29:38Speaker 2: the only thing she could say?
- 29:41Speaker 6: Well, that's about it. And even that is a disaster
- 29:44Speaker 6: because the fact is that was screwed up as well.
- 29:48Speaker 6: The students weren't getting their proper nutrition. They got a
- 29:55Speaker 6: program that is way overly expensive. There is no controls
- 30:00Speaker 6: on the spending, so you're not getting quality food and
- 30:03Speaker 6: quality service. Kathy Hochul can't run any operation. This woman
- 30:08Speaker 6: can't run a pepper factory. How is she going to
- 30:11Speaker 6: run the state of New York? She's run it into
- 30:14Speaker 6: the ground. People are miserable. We're in a death spiral.
- 30:17Speaker 6: We're number 50 in economic outlook. It's time for a change.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Yeah. You got to give the Democrats credit, though, just
- 30:25Speaker 2: for chutzpah. They've been in charge of every inch of
- 30:28Speaker 2: government in New York for the last 10 years, and
- 30:30Speaker 2: they're campaigning that there's an affordability crisis on their watch.
- 30:34Speaker 2: How do they have the nerve to do that?
- 30:37Speaker 6: Well, if it wasn't so tragic, it would be hysterical
- 30:40Speaker 6: because I almost fell off my chair when Kathy Hochul
- 30:45Speaker 6: in January gave her state of the state speech saying
- 30:48Speaker 6: that it's unaffordable to live in New York. Well, what
- 30:51Speaker 6: have you been doing for five years? You're the one
- 30:53Speaker 6: that created this problem. You're the one that made us
- 30:55Speaker 6: the highest taxed state in America. You approved 40 utility
- 30:58Speaker 6: rate hikes. Look in the mirror. So people, they're very smart.
- 31:05Speaker 6: I don't sell people short in New York State. They're smart.
- 31:08Speaker 6: They're sophisticated. From one state to the other, they know
- 31:10Speaker 6: what's going on, and that's why we're going to win
- 31:12Speaker 6: this election.
- 31:13Speaker 2: Bruce Blakeman, just set the record straight. You have agreed
- 31:17Speaker 2: to many debates. There should be a real debate, like
- 31:20Speaker 2: Channel 2, Channel 4, You've agreed to them and she's
- 31:24Speaker 2: turned them all down, right?
- 31:27Speaker 4: I agreed to CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox 5, Spectrum, News 12.
- 31:36Speaker 4: Everybody that asked me to debate Kathy Hochul, I accepted.
- 31:42Speaker 4: She picked the smallest media outlet in the state of
- 31:45Speaker 4: New York. People couldn't find it. They had to go
- 31:49Speaker 4: on YouTube to see it or they had to see it.
- 31:52Speaker 4: after it was live.
- 31:54Speaker 6: But you know what? People started paying attention after the debate.
- 31:58Speaker 6: They realized that she couldn't support any of her policies.
- 32:02Speaker 6: And they realized that I had a record of making
- 32:04Speaker 6: people happy, cutting taxes, making safer communities. So I got
- 32:09Speaker 6: a big bump from the debate, even though not enough
- 32:11Speaker 6: people saw it. But that just shows you Kathy Hochul
- 32:14Speaker 6: has no record to run on. And that's why you
- 32:17Speaker 6: compare my record running a county that's larger than eight
- 32:20Speaker 6: states and getting reelected. In a landslide in a county
- 32:24Speaker 6: with 110,000 more Democrats versus her record of just failed
- 32:28Speaker 6: policies and making people unhappy.
- 32:31Speaker 2: Yeah. Now, she's actually the first governor in history to
- 32:33Speaker 2: refuse to do a second debate. No one else has
- 32:36Speaker 2: ever done that before, I believe.
- 32:38Speaker 6: Well, again, she's hiding and she doesn't want to appear
- 32:44Speaker 6: in public. It was hysterical at all of the public
- 32:49Speaker 6: events that she goes to. She has security standing around her,
- 32:53Speaker 6: so she has no interaction with the general public. I
- 32:57Speaker 6: wade into the public. I want to meet people. I
- 33:01Speaker 6: want to talk to them. I'm not afraid to debate issues.
- 33:04Speaker 6: I'm not afraid to discuss policies. And I want to
- 33:06Speaker 6: hear about common, everyday people's problems, because that's what you
- 33:10Speaker 6: should do as governor. And she lives in this ivory tower.
- 33:14Speaker 6: And look what she said about black kids. She said,
- 33:16Speaker 6: black kids in the Bronx don't know what a computer is. Well, Kathy...
- 33:21Speaker 6: They get computers in sixth grade. They're better at a
- 33:24Speaker 6: computer than you'll ever be. Or what she said about
- 33:26Speaker 6: upstate New Yorkers. She said upstate New Yorkers weren't sophisticated
- 33:31Speaker 6: enough to make important decisions. Well, I've traveled upstate many
- 33:35Speaker 6: times over the last 35 years, and I can tell
- 33:38Speaker 6: you they have something that Kathy Hochul doesn't have. They
- 33:41Speaker 6: have good sense, good common sense, and good judgment. So
- 33:46Speaker 6: she looks down on the people of this state. I
- 33:48Speaker 6: want to uplift the people of this state.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Well, everybody get out and vote. That's the key. Turn out.
- 33:53Speaker 2: I know you're supporting Bruce Blakeman, but get out and vote.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Do the early voting. It'll be much easier. Go to BlakemanForNewYork.com.
- 34:00Speaker 2: You can donate there. BlakemanForNewYork.com. But get out and vote
- 34:04Speaker 2: this week. Bruce Blakeman, good luck.
- 34:07Speaker 6: Thank you so much, Mark. You're a good friend. And
- 34:10Speaker 6: thank you for giving me this opportunity to be on
- 34:13Speaker 6: your show. You have so many fans and supporters out
- 34:16Speaker 6: there everywhere I go. They say, I heard you on
- 34:19Speaker 6: the Mark Simone show.
- 34:20Speaker 2: All right. Well, keep up the good work, and we'll
- 34:23Speaker 2: see you in Albany pretty soon. Thanks for being with us.
- 34:26Speaker 6: Thanks so much. You got it.
- 34:27Speaker 2: Take care. Hey, don't forget, coming up at noon, Buck
- 34:31Speaker 2: Sexton and Clay Travis. A big, big show every day
- 34:34Speaker 2: at noon. 3 o'clock, the most listened to radio show
- 34:36Speaker 2: in America, Sean Hannity. I'll be filling in for Sean today.
- 34:40Speaker 2: He's on his honeymoon. But that's today, 3 to 6,
- 34:43Speaker 2: on 710WOR.
- 34:46Speaker 1: What's better than two hours of Marc Simone?
- 34:49Speaker 6: Three!
- 34:50Speaker 1: The Marc Simone Show. Now nine till noon weekdays.
- 34:54Speaker 2: 710WOR.
- 34:55Speaker 1: Hey, well, we're.
- 34:58Speaker 2: Just about out of time. So I'll be doing Sean
- 35:02Speaker 2: Hannity's show later today, 3 to 6. He's taking the
- 35:06Speaker 2: day off for his honeymoon. You ever heard of such
- 35:10Speaker 2: an excuse? Is that any reason to take the day off? Well,
- 35:13Speaker 2: I guess it's okay. So I'll be filling in later today.
- 35:15Speaker 2: He got married over the weekend. And then when he
- 35:18Speaker 2: comes back, he'll give you all the details. It's going
- 35:21Speaker 2: to be a beautiful day. See, whenever I have to
- 35:22Speaker 2: fill in and be inside all day, that's when it's
