- 2:51Welcome back Shelton, welcome back Tally.
- 2:54We're it's all of us again. Woo Hoo you.
- 2:57Know from A2 for to a four for. Yeah, good to be back, I guess.
- 3:02What the? Hell, you call that thing.
- 3:05I guess it's an awesome night for me.
- 3:06Last time I had some some brief distractions watching watching
- 3:10football. Some people in the comments on
- 3:12me know about it, but happy to be back after, especially after
- 3:16a big a big Hokies win. We'll get into it.
- 3:18But it awesome game, not just the win, but the fact that there
- 3:21was so much awesome stuff that happened, like the shirtless
- 3:24dudes in the stands, you know, the, the Super cold weather had
- 3:28a bunch of my friends go and, you know, send me a bunch of fun
- 3:30pictures. So it's just fun to get a win.
- 3:32And obviously had the the the Twitter war leading up to it,
- 3:35the Calgary them trolling the memes.
- 3:37That was awesome too. So just a great, great, fun week
- 3:39of college football. Definitely fun week Cali.
- 3:43Yeah, no, I was going to say me and Sheldon probably should just
- 3:46drop off and let you and Brian run it because that seems to be
- 3:49a winning, be a winning success there.
- 3:54Maybe we need to stay into that mindset of us just watching and
- 3:58let y'all do it if that's going to help us get a win or
- 4:02something. Oh hey, maybe.
- 4:03We can. Just let y'all do it so I don't.
- 4:06Believe. It yeah definitely definitely a
- 4:09good a good day, a good a good game good week good win had a
- 4:16lot going on over this way. Wife just got home she had
- 4:20surgery yesterday so yeah she got home today has been moving
- 4:26around good. She had to have a bulging disc
- 4:29fixed in her neck back area. So a little bit scary to think
- 4:34about but you know prayerfully, thankfully the Lord took care of
- 4:38everything and everything went good.
- 4:40So she is back home and moving around actually with the to
- 4:43Walmart to do her walking because apparently she has to
- 4:46get steps in so she doesn't get stiff.
- 4:49So she went to Walmart to get that done.
- 4:51So anyway great win by the Hokies.
- 4:54Glad to be back. How y'all feeling?
- 4:58I'm feeling good, but I'm going to just dress some real quick
- 5:00because I do not want it to be 6000 comments over here.
- 5:03Yes, we see Twitter people saying James Franklin.
- 5:07We don't know yet, y'all, until the person is introduced in
- 5:13Merriman in front of the Hokie background.
- 5:15He's holding a jersey with a helmet.
- 5:17We don't know. I don't believe, OK.
- 5:21And that's when I believe in the day that happens, we will be
- 5:24here, we will talk about it. Because three weeks ago all of
- 5:27us sat here, all of us gave names, we gave our input on a
- 5:30bunch of guys. Y'all came and gave input on a
- 5:32bunch of guys. But until it happens, we don't
- 5:35know. So put that to rest.
- 5:40Because we acknowledge, we, we, we see the.
- 5:42We see. We see the rumblings.
- 5:44We. See rumblings?
- 5:45Don't listen, Don't listen to Curtis.
- 5:48Keep them coming in the chat. I want to see everything, James.
- 5:53Franklin, James. Franklin, James.
- 5:54Franklin, matter of fact, just put whatever names you want to
- 5:57put in there, say Nick Saban in the comments.
- 5:59It don't matter. We need to just keep the
- 6:02positive energy going. We got a wind going, we got good
- 6:05vibes happening. We don't know nothing.
- 6:08We don't know if he's if, if Franklin's coming.
- 6:11We're here in the rumblings. Hopefully it's true and Derek is
- 6:16bad. Y'all, if you don't know, I
- 6:18found. That out last.
- 6:20How was that? That Derek is bad.
- 6:21Yeah. So anyway, welcome back.
- 6:24Welcome back. How you feeling?
- 6:28Man, it's been a been a busy start to the week man.
- 6:31But it's going good on this end, man.
- 6:36Looking forward to a little little Halloween weekend coming
- 6:39up here. Yes, Halloween on a Friday.
- 6:42Halloween on a Friday. God Almighty, good God almighty,
- 6:47got to go make some witches brew espresso martinis pumpkin beer
- 6:52I'm going to get. Well.
- 6:54No, I can't because I have to catch baseball at 9:00 the next
- 6:57morning. So it's going to be horrible,
- 7:00horrible. You can.
- 7:02You can do a little bit. You can do a little bit.
- 7:04I can do a little bit, I just can't let it go overboard
- 7:06because if not, I'm going to be out there in like 41° cold
- 7:09weather and a bunch of nine year olds screaming the dugout.
- 7:12All right, y'all have already hit it.
- 7:15Sheldon and Tally always talk about it.
- 7:17We going to tell the truth Tuesday about a hell of a win on
- 7:22Friday night. I mean, what went well is, first
- 7:27of all, before we say anything, we want another damn game, which
- 7:33I did not foresee any more wins this season, so they shit on me
- 7:38on Friday night. Once we got past Wake, I was
- 7:40worried about this game, but this is the only other one.
- 7:43I said well we got a fighting chance.
- 7:46I didn't like our chances, but I figured it would be close.
- 7:49It was close. Obviously 2 overtimes so it was
- 7:56a fun ride though. It was a fun ride.
- 7:58So the other thing to talk about it and tally, you've been
- 8:02mentioning this a couple times is there was effectively no quit
- 8:06in this. There has not been any quit in
- 8:08this team for about the last month and Friday night.
- 8:16I mean, first of all, A2 score deficit, we jump out to the 10
- 8:23nothing lead and we give up 20 straight and I was like, Oh my
- 8:25God, it's it's fucking Vanderbilt again.
- 8:28We're going to lose this game 40 to 10.
- 8:31And then Shelton's favorite statistic, Shelton I'm.
- 8:37Not following buddy. You're not following.
- 8:40What else did I thought Montgomery do 1.
- 8:43Oh, yeah, Yeah. Oh, I got you.
- 8:44Yeah, I got you. Yeah, sorry, that's whatever I
- 8:47had. But yeah.
- 8:48Have at it. What else went well for y'all on
- 8:52Friday night? But beyond the no quit thing, I
- 8:58think the adjustments that we saw in especially on the
- 9:01offensive side and really we kind of came out out the gate
- 9:05running the football a whole lot more and we stuck with it for
- 9:10four quarters. I feel like in the, you know,
- 9:12the second quarter, we kind of hit a little bit of a of a spot
- 9:16there where their offense kind of figured out what we were
- 9:18doing on defense a little bit. And we had a couple bad series
- 9:21where we, you know, had some 3 and outs there.
- 9:23But I mean, for the most part, we were committed to the running
- 9:27game. We said we're going to run this
- 9:28ball down their throat and they did that for four quarters.
- 9:34I couldn't stop it. I mean, running the ball seemed
- 9:36to work. I've said it multiple times, I
- 9:41would probably follow Georgia Tech's playbook and what they do
- 9:45with Haynes King with Karen drones, and it seemed like
- 9:49that's what they did on Friday. Stop trying to make him a NFL
- 9:55pocket passer because that's not what he does.
- 9:58But when you use him, how he plays and how he's designed, it
- 10:05works out because nobody on Kyle's defense was stopping him.
- 10:10He got tackled a lot. Somebody on Cal's team had about
- 10:1320 tackles, but he wasn't stopping the run.
- 10:17He was just in the way. He ain't getting them to the
- 10:20ground. But great win.
- 10:23Like you said, no, no, quit. Excuse me, continuing the fight.
- 10:31No quit in the coaching staff. I see the coaches on the
- 10:33sidelines jumping up. I see Phillip Montgomery in the
- 10:36refs face when they're making horrible calls back-to-back to
- 10:40back-to-back. Some of it was just asinine,
- 10:43like I'll probably use that in another segment to talk about
- 10:46the refs. That was pitiful.
- 10:47But no quit from any kid that's out there on the field.
- 10:50And that is that's a good sign. That's something that you want
- 10:53to see. Sean, let us up with some run
- 10:57data, man, because you got the analytical stuff.
- 11:01How good was it last night? It, well, it was frankly insane.
- 11:06I'm, I'm actually compiling some of the season numbers on, on
- 11:08Terry and Stewart and Hawkins here in a second.
- 11:10But just to talk about this game specifically, you look at the
- 11:12overall numbers. I mean, yards for play with 6.3
- 11:16yards per rush was over 8 and I was kind of giving up some of
- 11:21the stuff on PFF. You look at Tech success running
- 11:25outside the tackles, they averaged 8.6 yards per carry and
- 11:29also had two, both of their two rushing touchdowns on outside
- 11:32the tackle, runs inside the tackle is that it was actually
- 11:34still pretty good, but not quite as good when they're going
- 11:36outside. And obviously, you know, we'll
- 11:38talk about it, but they just, you know, kind of similarly kept
- 11:41spamming that, you know, split zone read and and certain
- 11:43variations of that look over and over again, you know, and I
- 11:46think if we were if we were Cal fans or if we were watching it,
- 11:50our defense perform like that, I think we'd all be kind of
- 11:52ripping our hair out because Cal just could not stop it.
- 11:54They had no answer for any of that stuff.
- 11:57Can I say what I thought real quick, Sean, before you get it,
- 12:00The Syracuse play last year. Everybody remember the game?
- 12:04No, the Rutgers play. The Rutgers?
- 12:05Yeah, the Rutgers play New York, New Jersey.
- 12:07Same difference. Go ahead, Sheldon, back to you.
- 12:09Yeah, so I think I think the Golden Bears have have to go
- 12:12back to drawing board in that one.
- 12:13But still, Marcellus Hawkins 8 yards per carry and Tech as a
- 12:17team forced 20 missed tackles, which is just an insane number
- 12:22for a single game. Stewart had nine missed tackles
- 12:24for us. Tawkins had eight.
- 12:26Drones had three. So you know, we'll we'll get to
- 12:29the season numbers here pretty shortly, but it is just insane
- 12:32what this group of running backs has been able to do when they've
- 12:34had, you know, some some time and space to, you know, make
- 12:37plays, you know, because they're they're seeing numbers are just
- 12:40incredible at this point. So certainly got to give Elijah
- 12:42Brooks his flowers for the job that he's doing, bringing this
- 12:44guys in and and developing like he has.
- 12:47Brian hit on that split zone because Shelton message Brian
- 12:51like I think it felt like it was 6 O clock Saturday morning and
- 12:53like Brian where they run a split zone and you were like.
- 12:59They, they were running, they were calling that over and over
- 13:01and they were doing a good job with mixing in some, some keeps
- 13:06with, with drones, really just getting outside the tackle and
- 13:09doing, doing his thing there. And it was really they were,
- 13:12they were putting them in conflict with that play all
- 13:14night. I think it was just a
- 13:16combination of, you know, tight end going across the formation,
- 13:21guys just not passing off the assignments that the the way
- 13:24they probably should it it kind of puts, you know, neutralizes
- 13:30you luave to a point where, you know, if you if you do give it,
- 13:34he's probably going to be there to make a play.
- 13:37But what we blocked it pretty well most of the time.
- 13:39And when when Jones got outside, he made them pay for it big
- 13:41time. Kelly anything else on the run
- 13:47game Friday night? No, man, it was just good to
- 13:51see. I mean, I think when we figured
- 13:53out that it was working and didn't go away from it, it was
- 13:56awesome because I think we were like running the ball great.
- 13:59And then we decided, oh, let's let Kyron throw it.
- 14:01He throws the interception, man, just keep running.
- 14:03If they're not going to stop you from running it, just run.
- 14:06So I think once we figured that out after that series, like we
- 14:10may have run the same play like 9 times in a row.
- 14:13Continue to run. It may not be.
- 14:16Yeah, it may not be the sexy thing to do, but if it's putting
- 14:22points on the board and it's holding the ball, keeping the
- 14:25other offense off the field, man, I love it.
- 14:27Let's keep doing it so. What is it?
- 14:29Was it at one point there was the touchdown Dr. That was 9
- 14:33plays, but it was at one point it was 18 consecutive runs and
- 14:38it was something like it was like 6 a pop on 18 consecutive
- 14:42runs, which is just nuts. It was to close regulation I
- 14:46believe. Like pretty much it was run,
- 14:48run, run, run run one after the other. 100% yeah.
- 14:52And and I know shelving through the the the data up there about
- 14:57their yards per carry and roughly Hawkins 21 rushes,
- 15:03drones 21 rushes, bullied 14 rushes.
- 15:06It was a good enough balance too right night there you go Justin
- 15:11had the number hit Justin 19 consecutive rushes, which is
- 15:17that's. Crazy.
- 15:18That's wild. And, and, and, and The thing is,
- 15:22the way we were running it, the passes we did hit were
- 15:27significant. Like the one to Takihi.
- 15:30I mean, it was not the best pass, but because we've been
- 15:34running the ball so good, like it was no one where he could
- 15:38still make the catch, so you know.
- 15:42In in the one day overturned on Spencer.
- 15:44Yeah. The one day overturned on
- 15:45Spencer. He was pretty much as because of
- 15:49that run, because of that. Yeah.
- 15:51He's you're open, you know, so I mean, you, that's what we are as
- 15:56a team. I feel, I wish again, I wish
- 15:59that we would have been doing that all along.
- 16:01But you know, it is what it is. It was definitely good to see,
- 16:05definitely good to see a a win Friday night.
- 16:08And also I'm going to say this too, what what for me because
- 16:13people know how I am about Sandman, right?
- 16:17If we going to do Sandman, if we do it in a close game in the
- 16:23fourth quarter or going from third quarter to fourth quarter
- 16:27and it's like that, I'm cool with it.
- 16:30Fuck doing it at the beginning of the game, like don't I'm
- 16:33tired because my thing isn't really the the entrance.
- 16:37I think it's just how people idolize it and it doesn't mean
- 16:41anything. But when we went, you know, when
- 16:45they was playing it, when they're trying to drive late in
- 16:49the 4th or going into overtime, whatever, it was like that was
- 16:53awesome to see in here. You know what I'm saying?
- 16:54Like that's college football. So I'm like, bro, if you don't
- 16:57use it like that, just use it like that all the time.
- 17:00Hell, if we have been doing that on the 17 games that probably
- 17:05lost by 1 score, maybe we'd have won three or four of them.
- 17:08Play that shit when it's close in the third and fourth quarter.
- 17:12That's what I want to see, the jumping around.
- 17:14So it's crazy, man. I love.
- 17:17I love it. It was great.
- 17:19It was great to see all. Right.
- 17:21Let's put real to some other stuff that went good.
- 17:23Let's talk about the defense rough into the first half, but
- 17:27the way they came out in the second-half and then in general
- 17:31how they shut down the run because I fully expected
- 17:36Kendrick Raffy out to have a game and they shut him down.
- 17:41They shut him down. So any anybody, anything that
- 17:46stuck out to y'all while watching a game or Shelton?
- 17:49Any data from Friday night? I mean, they they their their
- 17:55EPA per rush for Cal expected points added was in the 8th
- 18:00percentile for all games this year.
- 18:02So that's really, I mean, you know, bottom 10% rushing
- 18:04performance all season. That's that's pretty good.
- 18:06So the run run defense is really good.
- 18:09So I mean, they, you know, they kind of dominated that
- 18:12statistically. I mean, I don't know, you know
- 18:13what the, you know, the schematics of it was.
- 18:15But, you know, I, I also thought, to be fair, I, I
- 18:19thought Cal, Cal's receivers were, you know, pretty bad, like
- 18:21dropping passes left and right. Oh, that was.
- 18:23Horrible. So yeah.
- 18:24Except the Jesus. Except the Jesus, that little
- 18:27son of a bitch. When they when they did catch
- 18:31it, when they when they did catch it, they was moving and
- 18:34grooving and that tight end mini or whatever his name was, like I
- 18:38feel like he was open all game, but they dropped so many passes.
- 18:42So thank you, Cal Calgorithm, whatever you call it yourself.
- 18:48Thank you. They know what you're doing.
- 18:51The the drops were crazy because they had a probably five or six
- 18:57other first downs just on drops. I mean, it was, it was one of
- 19:02those things where like you couldn't really get mad at the
- 19:04quarterback. The quarterback was doing pretty
- 19:06much everything you had to do to win that game.
- 19:08And it seemed like between their defense not adjusting to take
- 19:13away what we were doing and then their receivers just not making
- 19:17plays in, in crunch time, you know, made it close, kept us in
- 19:22it. We got back in it, fought back
- 19:25and we're we're thankfully able to come out on top in overtime
- 19:29after a couple scares there. 100% And is the defensive line
- 19:33good the. The defensive tackles are good.
- 19:39Well. Kumar Copeland is good because
- 19:42they're putting him everywhere. Well-being Bell seems like he's
- 19:46been doing some stuff too though, right?
- 19:48If he could get somebody to the ground like he's, he's in there
- 19:52disruptive. He's disruptive a lot.
- 19:54He got somebody to the ground and they called it a.
- 19:57Yeah, unfortunately. He called the fumble and they
- 19:59called it a rough in the passer that was that was an unexpected.
- 20:05Thing in my life, I've never seen a rough in the passer when
- 20:08the guy still got the ball. Yeah, he still had the ball.
- 20:12That's not rough in the passer. That was the stupidest thing
- 20:15I've ever seen in my life and it was it really screwed us in the
- 20:18situation because if that doesn't happen, it's like 4th
- 20:24from what, 1213 yard line? Yeah, something like that.
- 20:27I. Don't think they get it but but
- 20:30I love to see Kamari Copeland because he ate Friday night.
- 20:34Especially his last sack, the one when they put him on the
- 20:37edge like out of the 9 technique and he just bullied through that
- 20:41tackle. Just bullied through that tackle
- 20:44and got his sack and I love it and I love it and I hate it
- 20:48because you start seeing some fingerprints of Cevkis of like
- 20:52what he will do with guys. It's a little bit too late and
- 20:55it's unfortunate, but Kamari was unbelievable.
- 21:00But yeah, is the D line good? Is it good or not?
- 21:06I mean the. Defensive line is.
- 21:08Definitely the one area that I wasn't worried about at the
- 21:11start of the year. Obviously we're a little bit
- 21:12lighter, a few pass rushers than what we started with, but I feel
- 21:17like the defensive tackles have played really well throughout
- 21:21the year that that that's been a spot that has been kind of a
- 21:25standout for me. When we look at the defense,
- 21:28they've had the least attrition, so that helps obviously.
- 21:31But I think that, you know, that position group has definitely
- 21:34been the strongest, the deepest and made the most plays.
- 21:40I'm going to go off the script here just a little bit right
- 21:43quick, Curtis, but I'm going to toss it to you first.
- 21:46And we don't have to talk about who it is.
- 21:49Anybody new coach comes in, you see the film, you see the you
- 21:54see the tape, you see what we have to offer, right?
- 21:58Who are you? Who was your first?
- 22:02Who was your first calls to keep on the staff and on the roster?
- 22:10I don't care how many you name 102038 a month, but I'm just
- 22:14saying first calls to keep on the staff and on the roster.
- 22:21First call on the first call on the staff and it's what he's
- 22:26done this year because he did lose some depth is I'm going to
- 22:32probably say JC because they're playing at a high level and it's
- 22:36different this year and we know how he recruit.
- 22:39He finds guys right that can just play and can make chaos.
- 22:44As far as the first player. And if it's more than one, it
- 22:52don't have to be 1, I'm just. Like I like what you did, like
- 22:55that first call, give me a call. Give me Copeland because he's
- 22:59got another year of eligibility. You see how passionate he is and
- 23:02you saw, you've seen at times how dominant he can be.
- 23:06And I know that's that both on the defensive side of the ball,
- 23:10but that's my first two, JC and keep those two guys together
- 23:15because I think you can build around that.
- 23:19And JC got the proof, right? Look what APR did.
- 23:23Look what happened this year. All right, who's next?
- 23:26Which one are y'all? I'm going.
- 23:27To throw at the, I'm going to throw at the shell next.
- 23:29He looks like he's ready and and and rearing to go.
- 23:34Yes, I am. I mean, I think, I think Matt
- 23:36Morris, probably my #1 because I think, you know, he, we know he
- 23:39has the coaching credentials. And I just think that's the
- 23:41position where Vt really needs some continuity because they've
- 23:44had what I think 4 online coaches over the last four
- 23:48years. Yeah, maybe that would.
- 23:50Be mice. 4 / 5. Yeah, although the.
- 23:55One of those came in midway through the spring, so.
- 23:59Yeah. So I mean, you just you have to
- 24:03start building some continuity there.
- 24:05So I I would definitely try to keep him.
- 24:07Elijah Brooks, like I said, you know, again, we're going to talk
- 24:09about numbers here soon, but the production he's gotten from the
- 24:12running backs is just insane. Like I think that's the spot
- 24:14where. You know.
- 24:16People, I mean people look at our wide receiver recruiting,
- 24:19you know, and spend a little bit underwhelming on the production
- 24:21side, development side. So we can have a, you know,
- 24:23debate about that. But there's no question that the
- 24:25production has been a lead from the running backroom over
- 24:28multiple years with different players, which which suggests
- 24:31that it's a coaching, it's a testament to coaching.
- 24:34So those are probably the first two I'd start with.
- 24:36He came to coach Brian. Yeah, you got to give me Matt
- 24:40Moore as well for the same reasons as Sheldon.
- 24:44I think continuity is a big a big thing for especially for an
- 24:48offensive line as it develops. And I mean it to that point.
- 24:53I mean, I think you got to keep if you're if you're talking
- 24:55about players, I think you got to start with the trenches, you
- 25:00know, bring back a guy like Altooner, keep your center
- 25:02intact. He's shown some promise this
- 25:07year. Play pretty well overall, you
- 25:10know, had the yeah, the false snap there against Cal, but I
- 25:15mean, he's played pretty well, especially for a guy getting his
- 25:17first year starting. So keep the continuity there.
- 25:21Obviously there's a lot of other guys you call I like, I like
- 25:23Brooks, I like JC Price. Mods would probably be the next
- 25:28one on the list if we had to go 4 deep there.
- 25:31Still not convinced that the production problem is is a minds
- 25:36problem necessarily. I think it's kind of been a
- 25:40mismatch of scheme and just not always getting the ball where it
- 25:45needs to go all the time. So yeah, that that that's where
- 25:50I'm going first. And like you said, I don't think
- 25:53there's a calling Copeland will never be a bad decision as well.
- 25:57So so keep it focused on the interior.
- 25:59They also Altoona and Copeland will be the two guys that I'm
- 26:01calling. First player was.
- 26:05No, I just no man, I was thinking about this or have been
- 26:09thinking about it. And to sum it all up, because
- 26:12it's not never one, right? I asked you a trick question,
- 26:14but you think about mines Brooks JC, somebody else named
- 26:23somebody. So mines Brooks JC and it was
- 26:26somebody else, Matt Moore, right.
- 26:28So you think about those coaches, if you do retain them
- 26:31and what they have started to build.
- 26:34If I can only pick one, I would definitely say Brooks just
- 26:38because like, it's insane to me what he is doing with these
- 26:42running backs. You know, I know the line is a
- 26:45big like the line has to open up a hole for him, right?
- 26:50You can't have a quarterback and a running back that runs for
- 26:53that much yards without having that offensive line.
- 26:56So Matt Moore doing a great job, but Brooks just has a great
- 27:02offer talent. And I feel like because we've
- 27:05been so bad and we have, you know, not lived up to our
- 27:11potential as a team, we have really diminished what the
- 27:15running backs that we've had over the last couple of years
- 27:18look like. You know what I'm saying?
- 27:19Our performances, we don't even say what the full season looks
- 27:22like for the guys we have this year, but we go back to Tooton
- 27:25last year. Virginia Tech fans are going to
- 27:28look back at what Tooten did when he was at Virginia Tech and
- 27:31Black man, he was a top five running back.
- 27:33I think when we did the show, a lot of people had him in there
- 27:37with all the greats. Like that is crazy for him to
- 27:40come from where he came from to be able to do what he did.
- 27:42But then also you just go on the players I'm I'm talking to, like
- 27:49you said, Copeland, I'm talking to the Reddish.
- 27:51I'm talking to most of the offensive lineman.
- 27:56When you talk about like Altoona, great, great young, you
- 28:01know, player that looks like he has a lot of development that he
- 28:04could do, but holds his own and and and bully Ann Hawkins.
- 28:11You know, the both both of them have eligibility left, right?
- 28:15Both of them have one. You have eligibility left.
- 28:16Am I not mistaken? Stewart does not.
- 28:19Hawkins may have a COVID year left.
- 28:23He has one left. Yeah.
- 28:25He has one. Yeah.
- 28:27Yeah. Hawkins does.
- 28:28So bullies done, Yeah? Bully's done.
- 28:32I'm talking to Hawkins. Hey, man, we need you in here.
- 28:35Jeff Overton, you get healthy. We need you too, buddy.
- 28:38All right, so we need, we need the running backs.
- 28:44Sheldon, that's a perfect setup because Italians up there
- 28:47talking about Hawkins in the running backroom.
- 28:49You you got some good stuff to share on that tonight.
- 28:52Yeah, well, it's been really impressive.
- 28:54Kind of a 1-2 punch. First off, with Hawkins overall
- 28:58running grade, just running specifically 86.1 ranks 15th in
- 29:03FBS. And then you look at the yards
- 29:05after contact numbers, just incredible.
- 29:07Hawkins ranks 22nd, 4.72 after contact per rush.
- 29:11And then Stewart is third in the country, 5.71.
- 29:15So Tech has 2 running backs. They rank top 25 in the country
- 29:19in yards after contact and again, these are, you know, two
- 29:23first first year guys, one came from AG51, came from FCS.
- 29:28So the fact that you know, Brooks is able to pull these
- 29:31guys in here and just get instant productivity is really
- 29:33impressive. And they also both rank top 10
- 29:35and elusiveness rating, which PFF tracks basically like
- 29:38isolates the explosive plays and accredited to the running back.
- 29:42So I mean, no matter which way to slice it, it's been it's just
- 29:45been incredible. And I don't think it's a
- 29:47situation like last year where I feel like, you know, Tootin kind
- 29:49of had to be Superman like every play.
- 29:52I feel like the O lines played a little bit better recently.
- 29:55I think they're, you know, they're open up some more, some
- 29:57more holes and he's not, you know, being swallowed up in the
- 30:00backfield. So it's been, it's been a sight
- 30:02to see for sure. Good deal.
- 30:05That's some good stats right to that The the the bully being 3rd
- 30:08and like 20th he goes back. How you going to beat Louisville
- 30:12this weekend? Run the damn ball and just run
- 30:14the shit out. Of it, you got to hold it.
- 30:17No, I ain't, Curtis. I'll go ahead, Brian.
- 30:19I'm sorry. I was just going to talk about
- 30:22the the running back situation in in the offensive line.
- 30:25Like one of the things I'm noticing, you know, you see the
- 30:28broken tackles and things like that.
- 30:29But the one thing that's been better and improved relative to
- 30:32last year and what Tune was dealing with is that there's not
- 30:35as much contact at or behind a lot of scrimmage for that first
- 30:40contact. A lot of the first contacts is
- 30:42coming after positive yards have already been gained and then
- 30:45you're getting kind of that that extra cream on top of that.
- 30:48So that's been I think a positive improvement across the
- 30:51board for the running game this year.
- 30:53And kind of why I think a lot of us were frustrated that we
- 30:55weren't necessarily leaning on that as much as we could have.
- 30:58And hopefully that we see that after this by there's been kind
- 31:01of a little bit of a of a change in philosophy and how they want
- 31:04to approach the offense and that, you know, Cal's just a
- 31:07sign of the things to come for what the offense is going to do
- 31:10from a from a skiing perspective.
- 31:14So yeah, I was going to say again, thank you to the chat for
- 31:16just, you know, we see your comments thrown in now.
- 31:19Keep them coming. I want I can't even remember who
- 31:21put it up. It's somewhere in there.
- 31:22But somebody think we missed what somebody said third, like
- 31:27how big has that been to have Jared Ferguson on the as the
- 31:32strength and conditioning? Like, we talk about these guys
- 31:35breaking tackles. We talk about the.
- 31:38Looking good in the fourth, not running out of gas.
- 31:41Looking looking good in the fourth, not running out of gas
- 31:43like Jared Ferguson being the man in charge, him being on the
- 31:49sideline, you know, hyping the team up to, you know what I'm
- 31:53saying, that being shown on camera is like a breath of fresh
- 31:56air. So I can definitely see a
- 31:59difference in strength and condition just going into those
- 32:02fourth quarters and stuff like that because I'm already we're
- 32:05losing. It's A1 score game.
- 32:08We ain't winning it. Yeah, we done.
- 32:10We ain't going to make the game win and play.
- 32:11But they keep playing tough, man.
- 32:14You know, even in the games that we have not won, you know, I
- 32:17keep seeing people play hard and, you know, making tackles
- 32:20and and, you know, just looking the part more than we did in the
- 32:25past year. So Ferguson, don't know where
- 32:29he's going to end up, don't know what's going to happen with the
- 32:30coach research, but good luck to him.
- 32:33Would love to hang him. Hang around, Yeah.
- 32:38There's only a couple more things about the game I want to
- 32:40hit before we flip over, talk Louisville for a little bit and
- 32:43a few other things. But y'all special team shit
- 32:50guides me off my fucking knocker.
- 32:53And you know what? The block kick.
- 32:55OK, you know what sometimes people just make plates.
- 33:00Sometimes people just make plates.
- 33:02Block kicks happen. But when Kent Selman, that ball
- 33:07like this man's own, that's just like I'm sitting here doing this
- 33:13like first of all, a why'd he do it?
- 33:17That's a little bit on him. But secondly, Steve Holt, why
- 33:21aren't you telling them? Listen, if that ball's getting
- 33:23to the end zone, just let it go. Be be like frozen.
- 33:28And my daughter who watches it at least once a week or puts on
- 33:31the the the the costumes. Let it go, let the ball go.
- 33:38I'm going to tell Stu. I'm going to tell Stu like my
- 33:40boy did when he they was fishing at his son's pond.
- 33:44Hit the road, dude. This ain't no state property.
- 33:47This is private property. He got to go.
- 33:52Man, that's all he's doing too. Like that's all that's all he's
- 33:57doing right now. It's not like he's got
- 33:59distractions elsewhere that he's worried about it.
- 34:01Like all you're doing is special teams, bro.
- 34:04Yeah, get it right. Rough, rough Shelton, any
- 34:07comments on either of those place probably or anything?
- 34:11You got said it all. All right.
- 34:14The the last piece I got to say is we usually we, we kind of hit
- 34:18everything, the good, the bad, what we didn't expect because
- 34:22nobody expected a rough in the past to happen when the
- 34:24quarterback still has the ball ever.
- 34:26But the the split at which we had Friday night, run, pass
- 34:31split, I think it was Sean, you got it up how many times we run
- 34:35the ball. Give me I got to look up and
- 34:38give me a SEC. But anyway, Sean's going to give
- 34:42it to us. But that run, pass split and and
- 34:46you've been hitting the tally saying we've got to do this,
- 34:49whatever that split was Friday night to have any semblance in
- 34:54the next four games, any semblance of a chance.
- 34:57It's got to be like that. But it's also got to be real.
- 35:02Oh, Lord, but it's also got to be you're only down 10 points.
- 35:12Monty didn't panic. He stayed within the game plan,
- 35:16right? He stayed within the game plan.
- 35:19Said we won't still # the ball. What was the splits, Shelton?
- 35:23It was 55 rushes to. Let's see here, 18 passes.
- 35:29So but surprisingly enough, I mean, Kyrie was actually weirdly
- 35:33efficient like he only completed 50% of his passes, but he had
- 35:35three touchdowns and a really high yards per attempt.
- 35:38So it's kind of like, you know, super, super efficient all.
- 35:42Right, hold on, hold on. I I need everyone in the room to
- 35:45address this. Hey, no disrespect, no
- 35:54disrespect to Montgomery. I think the dude has a great
- 35:58opportunity to go coach like North Texas or something like
- 36:02that. He going, we need him.
- 36:04To be the head coach here, go to go anywhere.
- 36:06I don't care if he wants to be a head coach, he's going to find
- 36:10somewhere. It just don't need to be here.
- 36:12We let. Me tell you where we can I tell
- 36:17you where He's on land and probably have to do a good job.
- 36:20Tulane. Where?
- 36:21Tulane you think about what they.
- 36:24Do. Is that right?
- 36:26No, he was a. Tulsa.
- 36:28Too late in them both. All right, let's keep it rolling
- 36:32and let's talk about the game. Well, let's talk about this
- 36:37first. Brian Kelly got fired.
- 36:41Yep. Good, hey.
- 36:44Me too. But you know what?
- 36:47Somebody I read somebody said he checked out last year.
- 36:50You know what I would do too. I got joked with a guy at work
- 36:53today. Check out two of my buyout was
- 36:56$60 million. I ain't doing shit this year.
- 37:00What do you want to do? You want to fire me and give you
- 37:03all my? Money, man.
- 37:08I can't. I can't imagine.
- 37:10I can't imagine being in the situation where if I win I get
- 37:16paid 10 million and if I lose I get paid 60 million. 60 million.
- 37:22Dollars, but it is. So let let me ask you all of the
- 37:26big three, what's your order? What what's the best job?
- 37:29Because it's a big three like I'm a college football fan.
- 37:33It's a big three. It's Florida.
- 37:34It's LSU. It's Penn State.
- 37:37Tally. What's 123?
- 37:42Man, I don't even think about all the money and talent and all
- 37:47that, but I'm just telling you, if I'm a head coach, I'm doing
- 37:50my best to stay away from LSU and I'm doing my best to stay
- 37:53away from the SEC. If I want to, like if I if I
- 37:59just want to, it's going to be hard there too.
- 38:02But if I just want to make as much money as I can and maybe be
- 38:07on some shows, sure. But when people will talk, and
- 38:11I'm going to just say this, people were saying James
- 38:13Franklin needs to go to Florida. Or I said the worst thing for a
- 38:17James Franklin would be to go to a SEC school.
- 38:21It'd be horrible for him. The reason I say that is because
- 38:26it's a gauntlet and they're already going to be on him
- 38:29because he just came from like he's a, he got fired in the
- 38:32middle of the year. He's not a up and coming coach.
- 38:35He got fired in the middle of the year.
- 38:37So he's going to come in and knows the SEC fans are going to
- 38:40have expectations of you win now or we want you gone.
- 38:43You got to think Coach O won a national championship.
- 38:46He was fired like the next season or the next two seasons.
- 38:50Same with Gene Chiswick, like you're not getting time to do
- 38:53anything. Brian Kelly, 34 and 14, even
- 38:57though he's an idiot and I really dislike him, like, if you
- 39:01ain't, if you ain't getting it done quickly for us, you're out
- 39:04of here. You know, we won't even go into
- 39:06the whole there's just not a lot of black head coaches in the SEC
- 39:11in the past. But if you start thinking about
- 39:13the black head coaches in the SEC, where are they now?
- 39:16I'll wait. Not coaching.
- 39:18You ain't hearing from them, Joker Phillips.
- 39:22You know, of course Chrome is gone.
- 39:25But you can say Charlie Strong, he was at Texas, never going to
- 39:30be a head coach again. I'm just saying if I'm somebody
- 39:33like, if I'm somebody like James Franklin, there's no way I'm
- 39:36looking at those jobs. And he does like he can coach at
- 39:39any place he wants to, But I would be looking at somewhere
- 39:43more like a, you know, Virginia Tech, UCLA, something like that.
- 39:47But out of those three jobs, me, I'm going to say I would go Penn
- 39:51State, LSU in Florida because I don't even know who can go and
- 39:56win in Florida. Like Florida's been snake been
- 39:59since, you know, the the the years of of champions.
- 40:02Well, they they had Dan Mullen. He was doing really good.
- 40:05He had one bad season. They asked him one bad season.
- 40:08He got out Shell. What's your?
- 40:11So are we talking about like the the big, the big 5 is it?
- 40:14Well, no, I'm saying the top three because I think in my
- 40:16opinion, LSU, Penn State in Florida or head and shoulders
- 40:20above. Yeah.
- 40:21You know national championships won in the playoffs.
- 40:25Great recruiting bases look 123 for you.
- 40:31I'd say so. Florida's up there, OK State.
- 40:37OK. So it's kind of weird because I
- 40:39feel like they're a very comparable program to Vt and
- 40:41since if they've only had success with the one head coach
- 40:44and you know, that's kind of like a, you know, mid level
- 40:46program that, you know, kind of has to develop well.
- 40:48And, you know, they've got some decent funding, but maybe not as
- 40:50much as they had in the past. So I definitely think Vt is more
- 40:53attractive than Arkansas just based on like, you know, ability
- 40:56to compete in the CFP for the CFP, you know, spending relative
- 41:02to conference geography, recruiting base.
- 41:05I I think Vt has got a lot going for compared to compared to
- 41:08those couple jobs. So I mean, a lot of it depends
- 41:12like on, you know, first of all the money and I think the
- 41:13money's probably there. And second of all, does the head
- 41:16coach like the administration that he works with now this is
- 41:20going to get into the whole another kind of worms of like,
- 41:22you know, what's going on with Wit and the Vt administration?
- 41:26I mean, I would imagine he's done by the end of the academic
- 41:29year, but nothing's happened so far.
- 41:33And like what? So like, if you're a coach,
- 41:35like, you know, you walk in there and say like, OK, we're
- 41:38going to, you know, do you have assurances that they're going to
- 41:40get rid of wit, you know, and if the and if so, like, well, OK,
- 41:45who's going to replace him? Like you don't know, Like I, I,
- 41:47I don't know if Vt is really maximizing their ability to hire
- 41:53a quality head coach when they don't know who the next AD is
- 41:56going to be. So that would be, that'd be my
- 41:58concern. I don't think it's as much
- 41:59infrastructure as you know, and, and ability to win.
- 42:02I think it's more so like, what's this administration going
- 42:05to look like? Bron.
- 42:08Yeah, I, I, I'm in agreement with with with that too.
- 42:11And I think like when you look at the the three, you know, I,
- 42:16I, I'd actually probably put put them Florida, LSU, Penn State.
- 42:24But I mean, I think Florida and LSU have, have their own pluses
- 42:27and minuses. They all crazy based on where
- 42:31they're recruiting, the fan bases, expectations, all that.
- 42:35I think there's a lot of problems that you get with
- 42:39taking a job at like an LSU or a Florida that you don't
- 42:42necessarily get with some of these other schools.
- 42:45And I think it's a little bit harder to win, even though it's
- 42:49it's still easy relative to I think the rest of the country.
- 42:52But it's it's a little bit harder to win at a Florida or at
- 42:54LSU than it maybe is for a Texas school or Georgia or Alabama.
- 43:02So, yeah, I think there's some inherent hills that you got to
- 43:08kind of climb over as those two schools.
- 43:12But then, you know, Penn State is still going to have to beat
- 43:15Ohio State every year. And as long as Ohio State is
- 43:19still playing the way they are, Penn State's going to always be
- 43:21playing second fiddle there. So that that's why that job's a
- 43:25little bit lower, I think on the totem pole than the rest of
- 43:27them. Well, now you got, now you got
- 43:30Indiana coming in now acting like they're juggernauts too.
- 43:33Yeah. It's true.
- 43:36So are you thinking fiddle? Third fiddle. 4th fiddle.
- 43:40Maybe 4th fiddle of Michigan or in USC.
- 43:44Yeah, don't. Don't forget about USC.
- 43:47USC and really fucking around me they're they're they're
- 43:49definitely I think second tier there, but they're definitely
- 43:51looking a little bit more like. Better and better.
- 43:54Ready to ready to compete a little bit?
- 43:57See, the reason I'm going to put Penn State always one is the
- 44:00other two. Penn State might give you a few
- 44:02years. Florida and LSU.
- 44:05I mean, like you said, Brian Kelly was 20 games over 500.
- 44:08It was just like by 20 games over 500.
- 44:12You said 34 and 14, right? 20 games over 500.
- 44:17If Brent probably was 28 games over 500 in his fourth year with
- 44:20us, we'd lose our damn mind 20 games over.
- 44:23We'd be happy big and shit. Yeah, I just said that.
- 44:28But they but they expect to win a national title like every
- 44:30other year so. Part.
- 44:33Of the game and to be fair, like LSU, like if you were to, I've
- 44:36said this before, if you were to design A school that was like
- 44:40the maximal had like every maximal advantage and that you
- 44:44could it would be LSU like location resources, you know,
- 44:49conference history, except, I mean, you know, but that's just
- 44:52college football. Yeah, cool shit.
- 44:55They've got so much they they have more or than any other
- 44:57program. It's crazy.
- 44:59Yeah, and guess what? All of of the other programs we
- 45:03talked about, I probably could have gotten to LSU out of high
- 45:06school without an issue being exactly known for their academic
- 45:10standards. Yeah.
- 45:14The other two we mentioned actually have some.
- 45:16All right, well, let's get into it.
- 45:18We do have a game this weekend. 3:00 Hey Tally, we on your
- 45:21favorite network? We on The CW this weekend.
- 45:26Yeah, and I'll tell them what we're going here ain't.
- 45:29No telling for real. We do have Louisville, and
- 45:33Louisville is one of the hottest teams in the country right now.
- 45:386:00 and 1:00 big win over Miami two weekends ago.
- 45:42And I mean they crushed Boston College.
- 45:44I think they had 300. I think they went 325 on the
- 45:47ground on Saturday against Boston College.
- 45:51So you know, lot lot of fun to be had.
- 45:55And let's take a look at a couple of the players on their
- 45:58team that y'all better know these names because I feel like
- 46:02the first guy I'm going to mention who's Chris Bell is
- 46:06going to light us up. Not a highly recruited, I
- 46:09shouldn't say highly recruited like a mid three star guy when
- 46:12he came out of school at a Where is Yazoo City Ms. Galley?
- 46:18It's a country place in Mississippi, somebody you
- 46:21probably don't want to hit. He's probably strong as a ox.
- 46:25He's he's 62, he's like two O 5. He is currently 11th in the
- 46:30country interceptions in receiving yards.
- 46:32He's got 48 receptions, 687, six touchdowns and I mean, I just
- 46:43like no one has secondary a little bit banged up.
- 46:46I think he's going to absolutely crush us.
- 46:50Brian Shelton, Dally, anything you'll got on him.
- 46:53Oh, he's absolutely going to crush us.
- 46:58Yeah, it's, it's really not. The question is going to be, you
- 47:04know, what, what's he going to go for?
- 47:07What's the top? And I'm really, I'm really
- 47:10concerned. I'm, I'm hoping that the pass
- 47:11rush, we can at least get what we saw against Cal, but I think
- 47:18it's going to be a long game for us unfortunately.
- 47:22Shout out to All right, show them anything on him.
- 47:30No, I mean. It's really good.
- 47:34Yeah, Yeah. I mean just they've got they've
- 47:37got a lot of, you know, experience and beef on that,
- 47:40that D line. So yeah, give.
- 47:43Me a tough match D line the other the other couple guys to
- 47:46worry about. You got Moss, who was AUSC guy.
- 47:49He's balling. I mean, you know what, Jeff
- 47:54Braun might need the Penn State higher.
- 47:56He might leave Louisville because he can bring any damn
- 47:59quarterback in and they just do good.
- 48:02I mean, Moss was cast off out of USC.
- 48:04Well, he did not play bad. He's not played great this year.
- 48:08But it just seems like with Jeff Brahm, it's like every year, new
- 48:12new, new quarterback, same results, competitive team, good
- 48:16offense. Well, it's it, you know, don't
- 48:19discount Bryant on Brahm at the AT OC there as well, because he
- 48:22does a good job of getting the quarterback settled in running
- 48:27that offense, leaning on the strengths of what he has on the
- 48:29roster. You know, I mean they, they
- 48:34really got guys that can get the job done at, at, at all three
- 48:38phases there. And Isaac Brown, you guys do you
- 48:42want to talk about? Next, I I think about Isaac
- 48:44Brown, but I mean, you know, you've already, you know, talked
- 48:47a little bit about Chris Bell. I mean that's a big dude, man
- 48:54and playing wide receiver that that size man.
- 49:00Well, like Carson actually playing receiver.
- 49:03He's he's going to be easy. He's a big dude, 4/4 speed.
- 49:09It's going to be a long game trying to cover him with with
- 49:12how depleted our secondary is. So I guess that I'm hoping that
- 49:15we can able to get some pressure on them.
- 49:17So is there any chance from what you've looked at like pass
- 49:22protection laws? Do they have a wink link?
- 49:26I mean, I don't think I wouldn't.
- 49:28I don't know if they this, I have like a a wink, a a weak
- 49:31link. I will say that the thing that
- 49:33sticks out to me is that they seem to have their best graders
- 49:37be at the most important positions.
- 49:38So obviously you've got your skill guys, you know, Chris
- 49:41Bell, Isaac Brown, Miller Moss, all really highly graded.
- 49:44And then you've got, you know, your center, Pete Nigro, who's
- 49:46at 69 1/2. He's pretty, pretty low ranked
- 49:49and then guard Lance Robinson also up there too.
- 49:52So I mean the core of their team, interior O lines really,
- 49:55really good. So that's, you know, that's kind
- 49:56of their their bread and butter and that's kind of how I have to
- 49:58build your team successfully all.
- 50:02Right, there's some I want to say.
- 50:04Look at this. That's Quest talking crazy.
- 50:10Tell him, don't tell him. Don't bet no money on that.
- 50:14Don't bet the farm on that. But you know, the other thing we
- 50:18talked about Brown, we hit bell sheltered ransom stuff off.
- 50:22And this is what scares the bejesus out of you is if you
- 50:25take a look at what Cajon Brown, who's their backup running back
- 50:30did on Saturday against BC, he had 10 rushes for basically 95
- 50:34yards and a touchdown, 100 and almost 130 from scrimmage with a
- 50:39huge catch. I guess that's where it's just
- 50:43like, Jesus, like when you have that much from all over the
- 50:48place and legitimately, you know, Brahms got a good passing
- 50:51offense, but when you again, it's it was 319 is what they ran
- 50:56on. But here's the sicker part.
- 50:58Sheldon, can you pull that up? They were 319 on 25 rushes.
- 51:05Y'all 319 on 25 rushes. We did 357 on 50 something.
- 51:11That was great. They they was busting big run
- 51:16after big run dawg. They thought explosive plays,
- 51:20man, that's explosive plays. Oh, give, give Shelton a second
- 51:23here. Give Shelton a second.
- 51:24He is going to find how many explosive plays they had on
- 51:27Saturday. Can we just keep it under like?
- 51:30I mean, Isaac Brown is is is somebody that's going to give us
- 51:33some problems too, just because it's how versatile he is, Manny,
- 51:35because he can run it, he can catch it, he can do stuff in
- 51:38special teams. He's going to be a little bit
- 51:39all over the place, I think. Any any luck yet Shelton?
- 51:45No, I'm, I'm trying to look that up.
- 51:49But I will say though, interestingly, their offense
- 51:51actually doesn't generate a a huge amount of explosive plays.
- 51:54I mean, they've got, you know, 19 plays of 30 plus yards, you
- 51:59know, so that certainly counts for something.
- 52:00But overall they're actually they're not a huge they're not
- 52:03overly reliant on big plays for what I can tell.
- 52:05So I mean, without, you know, necessarily like knowing other
- 52:08stats, I would have guessed they're much more of like kind
- 52:10of a, you know, ground and pound high success, right type of team
- 52:13that's, you know, kind of turn out very consistent drives.
- 52:15They're just not, you know, that's not their their bread and
- 52:17butter necessarily is the big plays.
- 52:19Got it. All right, let's go to Anomaly
- 52:22then. Yeah, Super Anomaly.
- 52:24All right, flip over because you said you really want to talk
- 52:27about their defensive line. What?
- 52:28What you got? Oh me.
- 52:33Yeah, you the one that you said 05 minutes ago, you were like.
- 52:37Sorry, bud. Yeah, yeah, we'll go, We'll go.
- 52:39Yeah. So the so the big one is Jordan
- 52:42Gerrad. I hope I'm not butchering that
- 52:43pronunciation. So he is their best run
- 52:46defender. Overall grade is over an 80 and
- 52:49as well as his rush defense grade also had an 80.
- 52:51So he's a fifth year guy, three-year transfer from Florida
- 52:54International. So spent three years there now
- 52:56in his second year with the program.
- 52:57So he's been in college football for five years.
- 53:00Obviously bring some experience there.
- 53:02And then their best pass rusher is Clev Lubin, and he is a 91
- 53:10overall, which is a really good 92 pass rush.
- 53:13So he's also a transfer from Coastal Carolina.
- 53:15So, you know, clearly Brahm has been able to have a lot of
- 53:19success with transfers in the portal, which isn't something
- 53:23you always see, but he's, he's done a really good job,
- 53:25especially bringing some of those G5 guys up.
- 53:26So really good evaluation and development on the part of that
- 53:30staff. They've got some some some real
- 53:32beef on that, that dip, that defensive line and.
- 53:36Correct me if I'm wrong, we've almost got Lubin right last year
- 53:40in the portal. I know we were in the mix for
- 53:45for Lubin, yeah. Yeah, OK.
- 53:47In in Lubin, he he is a team leader along with W Banner
- 53:52should be W Bailey. They got 4 sacks apiece.
- 53:55Both are edges, both 6. Lubin's like 63240, Bailey's
- 54:00like 652-5260. So I mean, you know, not great
- 54:11just because like where we are, like what's going on with our
- 54:16team, but and just keep playing. Couple other guys to mention and
- 54:21I and I want to figure out what Antonio Watts does.
- 54:25Brian, did you get enough tape on him to figure out what
- 54:28they're doing? Because Watts, he's been labeled
- 54:31as ADB just about everywhere, but basically he is on pace this
- 54:36year to kind of shatter what he did last year when it comes to
- 54:41tackles. So when I see that, it's got to
- 54:44be a little something different. Yeah, I mean, he's he's a box
- 54:47safety. He's going to be a little bit of
- 54:48a hybrid guy. He's going to play really close
- 54:50to the line of scrimmage, kind of blow up things, kind of that
- 54:53spill area from a run perspective.
- 54:55But he's also got a pretty good coverage skills, definitely can
- 55:01can lay the lumber on you. So he's a little bit all over
- 55:04the place. He's definitely the guy that
- 55:06kind of makes the back end of that defense run just because of
- 55:09the versatility that he brings to the table on that defense.
- 55:16What about Hutchinson because he's the other guy that again
- 55:19listed as DB second on the team in tackles.
- 55:22Got to pick bunch of past deflections.
- 55:26Did you get anything on him? Yeah, I mean, he's a he's a guy
- 55:30that also is a little bit more, I'd say definitely more oriented
- 55:36in the in the passing game in the coverage standpoint.
- 55:39But he's he's also somebody that will get up in there and make
- 55:41some tackles as well. But he's more of a true, true
- 55:44safety. Whereas you know, when you look
- 55:48at a guy like, like Watts, he's truly more of a more of a
- 55:51hybrid, hybrid safety that's, that's playing really up in the
- 55:55box on a regular basis. All right, so you got kind of
- 56:00five names, Sheldon, any other piece of data to throw on us
- 56:05before we start talking about, you know, what, what, what,
- 56:08what, what Marcus says, Quest says and all happened, which is
- 56:11we're going to pull the the big shock this weekend.
- 56:14I mean, not really man. Like they're they're 20th
- 56:17overall in defensive SP plus, so they're just pretty solid on
- 56:21both sides of the ball, 32nd on offense.
- 56:23So again, they just you know, they from what I can tell, like
- 56:26they're not like elite at anyone specific thing.
- 56:29They're just pretty well-rounded, well balanced.
- 56:31So, you know, you just, you get not a lot of holes in this team
- 56:34and that's why they're, you know, 6:00 and 1:00.
- 56:38In traditional metric, show it too.
- 56:39They're 14th in the country in total defense.
- 56:42When? We beat Louisville.
- 56:44We beat Louisville this weekend. We got to send Marcus Boundary
- 56:49Corner Cup or something. I mean, there's got to be some
- 56:52kind of, we got to give him some kind of.
- 56:55He called his shot early, so. He always we got.
- 56:57To send him something. Bro, if he Babe Ruth, if he say
- 57:01clock this, we going to win. We got to send him something,
- 57:04man. I don't know what it's going to
- 57:05be, but I don't see it happening.
- 57:07But we, you know, it is what it is.
- 57:10All right, Well, if you don't. If we win this game, then you
- 57:13can maybe put me back on board to buying, making a bowl game.
- 57:18Yeah, because you still got a, you know, very beatable looking
- 57:24UVA and you still got FSU on the schedule.
- 57:26Well, well, well. Tally, let's let's get into it.
- 57:31This man, the keys like what? What do you think?
- 57:35Like you saw you seen Louisville play a few times.
- 57:39Yeah. What?
- 57:39What's the key? What do we have to do?
- 57:42I mean, you got to look how you ended the game at Cal.
- 57:47You got to start the game now. And it's, it's hard to do, you
- 57:50know what I'm saying? But you got to have that same
- 57:52game plan. And when I say that, I mean, you
- 57:54got to run the ball. You got to make them choose
- 57:59who's going to hurt them running the ball between Kyron Hawkins
- 58:05and Bully. Connor's not going to be able to
- 58:08drop back and throw the ball all over the field.
- 58:13Just like Justin said, we got to possess the ball.
- 58:15We got to try to hold the ball some.
- 58:17We got to have some long drives, sustain some drives.
- 58:20Even if we only get 3 out of it because we know we like to do in
- 58:23the red zone. We can't just three and out, get
- 58:26in the ball, 3 and out, get in the ball.
- 58:27Kind of how we get in that second quarter.
- 58:29What we're doing with Kyle, that's going to be the worst
- 58:33thing we can do because this team, if we 3 and 9 give them
- 58:37the ball, they're going to make us pay.
- 58:38Then you're going to look up and it's going to be 24 to zero, 24
- 58:42to 7. Then they're going to score some
- 58:44more and then it's going to get out of hand.
- 58:46So we've got to control that ball and we have to run the ball
- 58:49to be able to control it. John Brown, Whoever wants to go
- 58:56next, John. I'll let you.
- 58:59Go. Oh, let me go.
- 59:00OK, Yeah. I mean, I don't really have a
- 59:03ton to add to that. I was trying to look up their
- 59:08their sack totals. Yeah, kind of the fact.
- 59:11So yeah, I mean, I guess the big thing is just like how well can
- 59:14Vt run the ball? Like you know, like Tally said,
- 59:18you know, we are not going to have a ton of success in the
- 59:20traditional drop back passing game.
- 59:24So, you know, onus is going to be in the online to win up some
- 59:26holes and running backs to continue kind of doing their
- 59:29thing. I do feel somewhat more
- 59:32confident, as Curtis previously alluded to, that we do have a
- 59:34head coach who seems to be, you know, have a basic level of
- 59:38competence in, you know, winning close games and you know, you're
- 59:42going to be involved in a lot of close games this league.
- 59:44So if you can at least make it a coin flip, that's good.
- 59:48You know it's better than you know, having a you know O 91
- 59:50winning percentage, maybe the worst close game coach ever in
- 59:54last 25 years of college football, but nonetheless
- 59:58beside. The point?
- 1:00:00We will hopefully, hopefully, if it's a tight game, we can manage
- 1:00:03to pull this one out. I I love Sheldon just beating
- 1:00:08the dead horse there. That's that's, that's so
- 1:00:11amazing. I'm going to I'm going to go
- 1:00:15here. So it's a couple things for me.
- 1:00:17So obviously I think everybody's kind of talked about it.
- 1:00:20We got to run the football. We got to run it successfully.
- 1:00:22We got to control town possession, but we've got to be
- 1:00:25good in the red zone and finishing drives and getting 7,
- 1:00:28not 3 because Louisville is going to be able to score the
- 1:00:32football. So if you're not it, it, it
- 1:00:36doesn't matter how much time you're taking off the clock if
- 1:00:39you're not getting 7 when you get down there.
- 1:00:42So we got to be efficient getting in the red zone and and
- 1:00:44scoring the football when we get there.
- 1:00:49Oh, it's my turn now. It's you, yeah.
- 1:00:53Well, I want to just beat the old dead horse.
- 1:00:55I've been beaten a few weeks here and that's going to be Reds
- 1:00:58on defense because guess what, you went the.
- 1:01:01Other way? We're still not that good at
- 1:01:05Reds on defense, we're still dead last.
- 1:01:09There have been 32 possessions. Teams are scoring 1616
- 1:01:16touchdowns. Excuse me, 26 touchdowns and or
- 1:01:20excuse me 1623 touchdowns, 9 field goals.
- 1:01:24I'm going to eventually get the shit right.
- 1:01:25We are dead last. We are dead last.
- 1:01:28We have given up the most threats on scores of anybody in
- 1:01:33the country. If you get down there, stop.
- 1:01:36Just one stop. And the sad part is we did get a
- 1:01:39stop at the 25 on Friday night. Unfortunately they couldn't get
- 1:01:43a couple yards so we can get out of our bats.
- 1:01:47Thank thankfully though in the the first overtime they started
- 1:01:51at the 25. And they scored, so they didn't
- 1:01:54have the 33rd. Score.
- 1:01:56Yeah, but red zone, red zone defense, I mean, it, it's been
- 1:02:02the biggest challenge all year. And the other thing it's it's
- 1:02:06going to sound the only game they lost this year to UVA, they
- 1:02:10had multiple turnovers and you know, it was amazing.
- 1:02:14We won the game. We did not turn the ball over it
- 1:02:17for Cal. They turned it over on us and
- 1:02:19took a sheer 3 off the board, which could have been the game.
- 1:02:23So I mean, I know that's basic talk, but it's like if you get
- 1:02:26into, it's just like if they get down there, because the one
- 1:02:29thing about Brahm, he does get hyper aggressive when he gets in
- 1:02:33the red zone. They do not like to kick field
- 1:02:35goals. So if you get that 4th and three
- 1:02:38and they're going for it because they just want to try to bury
- 1:02:41us, then stop them there, make them pay.
- 1:02:49Is anybody picking us besides Marcus?
- 1:02:56Anybody in the chat? I'm gonna, I'm gonna go ahead.
- 1:02:58I'll, I'll put, I'll put it out there.
- 1:02:59I'm not picking us to win. I am picking us to keep it
- 1:03:03probably closer than a lot of people think.
- 1:03:06Let me look at the line real quick.
- 1:03:07I got it on the phone. Yeah, throw the line in there
- 1:03:09while I'm while I'm talking. I think it's tip and 1/2 right?
- 1:03:12Did he go down? Oh shit, I think that it's a
- 1:03:17touchdown game. I think.
- 1:03:18I think we lose this one like 3220530124 somewhere in that
- 1:03:23range all. Right, Shelton.
- 1:03:31I had 3120 Louisville all right. He's saying they're going to
- 1:03:34cover the hook. Yeah, playing with the hook
- 1:03:36there, playing with the danger zone tally. 3521 similar to what
- 1:03:45the Georgia Tech game look like. It's what I feel that I know
- 1:03:48we're not going to give up. I feel like we'll, you know, try
- 1:03:50to make it a game, give me just a little bit of hope, but not
- 1:03:54really be able to really do it. Because it all it's all going to
- 1:04:01come down to like the first half, right?
- 1:04:05Because the Georgia Tech game after the first quarter, it was
- 1:04:09basically an even game. But when you go down 18 in the
- 1:04:12first quarter, like, OK, this game is over.
- 1:04:15Like we do not have the the horsepower to get that caught
- 1:04:19back up. I'm I'm, I'm about where Shelton
- 1:04:24is. I'll go 3424, like 10 points.
- 1:04:28I think we'll fight all the way through.
- 1:04:32But yeah, I, I just, I can't do it at that time.
- 1:04:35Can somebody tell that there's an issue when you do this?
- 1:04:40That's just numbers. Who's winning the game?
- 1:04:46Who's winning the game? I'm.
- 1:04:48Going to assume you're you're you're taking.
- 1:04:49Oh yeah, we we know who we say is winning the game and it
- 1:04:53ain't. What do you think?
- 1:04:59Just just just to put this out here, I want Chris, you sticking
- 1:05:02with that? You sticking with that?
- 1:05:04Let us know. All righty, let's get ahead and
- 1:05:09make some predictions for big screeners.
- 1:05:15Brian had to do the walk of shame last Sunday because Brian
- 1:05:20didn't win a damn game last. Week that was a bad, bad
- 1:05:24counting for me, for it was funny.
- 1:05:28It was already bad. And then like the North Dakota
- 1:05:31State game like that, that being a complete blowout.
- 1:05:35Wow, I was. Like OK.
- 1:05:37All right. So that even even the one I
- 1:05:39thought was I was like, Oh well, at least this one's going to.
- 1:05:41It'll at least make me look like I know what I'm talking about.
- 1:05:43And no, it did not. Not at all.
- 1:05:48So everybody else went two and two last week 500 that with us
- 1:05:52and you'd have been OK let's. Get to I'm back in the cellar.
- 1:05:58Curtis passed me again my. Whole game tally, tally tally
- 1:06:03creeping back towards 500. He might get there for the end
- 1:06:06of the season. What this is telling us, Curtis,
- 1:06:08though, is don't bet with us. Don't bet with us.
- 1:06:11All of. These.
- 1:06:13Although you know what the the the craziest thing there was a
- 1:06:16few weeks ago where the hook got every single one of us twice.
- 1:06:22Like the hook, it was like the Notre Dame UFC week.
- 1:06:26It was like 10 1/2. They lost by 11.
- 1:06:28I had them there and like Tally had somebody who was like 6 1/2.
- 1:06:31They won by a touchdown and it was like a late touchdown.
- 1:06:34It was just like mine. All righty.
- 1:06:38So what's the first game? Brian, all right here.
- 1:06:45We go, it's yours, it's my, my, my game is the first game and
- 1:06:47I'm picking a very interesting one here for several reason.
- 1:06:52Memphis Rice. Rice is a 13 1/2 point dog at
- 1:06:55home. Obviously Ron Silverfield, who
- 1:06:58we've all been trying to keep our own.
- 1:07:00That's kind of Shelton, one of his big guys that he likes
- 1:07:03potentially taking over as an ex Hokies coach.
- 1:07:05But I want to focus just a little bit on the coach of Rice
- 1:07:11for a couple reasons. First of all, if you don't know
- 1:07:13who the coach of Rice is, of Rice is, his name is Scott Abel.
- 1:07:18And me and Brian have a little bit of connection to Scott Abel.
- 1:07:23Brian's late stepbrother Todd played with Scott at Longwood
- 1:07:27University when they went to the D2 College World Series back in
- 1:07:31the 90s. Scott Abel was actually in my
- 1:07:34fraternity. And if you look at Scott Abel,
- 1:07:37you ever, you ever want to talk about literally coming from the
- 1:07:42ground level, the ground level of coaching to get up to
- 1:07:47Division One, Scott Abel's it. Scott Able coached at Albemarle,
- 1:07:53Weston, Albemarle, Alta Vista, Liberty, Amherst County.
- 1:07:59Only Albemarle of those schools, Brian are like it's 5A up here.
- 1:08:04They're only, that's the only big school he coached at for
- 1:08:07basically the 1st 15 years of his coaching career.
- 1:08:11He then went to Washington and Lee as the OC, then the head
- 1:08:14coach, then Davison and then Rice.
- 1:08:17And so it's cool to see this because it still happens.
- 1:08:25And and even though I'm not going to pick with him because I
- 1:08:30think still feeling them going to blow them off the doors, the
- 1:08:32doors off of them is still to see cool stories like this and
- 1:08:36someone that you know again, he's he's he's significantly
- 1:08:40older than me, but was in my fraternity in college connection
- 1:08:44with Brian with his dad were playing baseball with him back
- 1:08:46in the early 1990s. But as far as pit goes, Scott, I
- 1:08:52hope you keep doing what you're doing, man.
- 1:08:54But Memphis by 21 Sheldon. Yes, I am taking Memphis.
- 1:09:04God bless Rice, man. It's a tough, it's a tough job,
- 1:09:06but I think Memphis is a wagon. Beating USF last week, kind of
- 1:09:12taking control of that of that conference, and I love, I love
- 1:09:14the job that Silverfield's doing.
- 1:09:15So rolling with the Tigers. Tally.
- 1:09:22I got to go with benefits, man. I mean, Curtis gave us a cool
- 1:09:27story and ain't going to help him on the field.
- 1:09:31Even I admit that cool story and not going to help him, but he is
- 1:09:344/4 in his first year down there.
- 1:09:37There you go. That's pretty impressive.
- 1:09:42Yeah, I'm riding with Memphis as well of the, you know, college
- 1:09:47coaches I've got some tenuous line of connection with.
- 1:09:51I'm I'm going to go with the the one that actually coached me on
- 1:09:53this one. So and that's no knock to Abel.
- 1:09:59I think him taking a little bit of a winding path is is great
- 1:10:04going from D3 after coaching high school football for so, so,
- 1:10:08so long and then going to D1 non scholarship and then jumping up
- 1:10:14to to Rice. Now I think that's a that's a
- 1:10:16pretty crazy path to get there at 55 S Hats off to him, but
- 1:10:21it's going to be the the Tigers. All righty, who's up next in
- 1:10:26their game? Tally.
- 1:10:29It's the tally, it's the tally. It's it's.
- 1:10:32It's the beamer bowl part. Keep it going, man.
- 1:10:38I got to see what he's going to do every week.
- 1:10:40Once I started that that gauntlet that he was going
- 1:10:43through, I got to see it through.
- 1:10:45I actually, I'm going to take South Carolina in this game.
- 1:10:52I just feel like I watched him last week against Alabama and I
- 1:10:55feel like the little bit of the curse Virginia Tech has on them.
- 1:11:01Shane has inherited that some things that are going to go
- 1:11:05wrong is going to go wrong for him.
- 1:11:08He'll make it close, but still going to lose.
- 1:11:11So I would say probably Ole Miss wins this game by 10 points all.
- 1:11:18Right. Tally, I'm right there with you.
- 1:11:22I think this is going to be one of those games where South
- 1:11:25Carolina hangs around, hangs around, hangs around, but can't
- 1:11:28get it done at the end. You know, we saw it a little bit
- 1:11:31against Alabama. We've seen it a couple other
- 1:11:33times this year. I think we're going to see it
- 1:11:34again. So I think it could be 8 or 9
- 1:11:38point win by Ole Miss, but I think South Carolina will do
- 1:11:41enough to cover that 12 1/2. Well, hold on Sheldon.
- 1:11:48I'm first. I got it.
- 1:11:49I got it. Hold on.
- 1:11:52I do have to say this regardless, and I know whether
- 1:11:55you like Shane, hate Shane and whatnot.
- 1:11:58Tally his kids are still fighting their asses for me.
- 1:12:01They they had Bama on the roads last weekend and it crumbled
- 1:12:06late unfortunately. So, So what I hate to hear,
- 1:12:09though, no disrespect to them, but what I hate to hear about
- 1:12:13Shane and they put I got to quit having this malice in my heart
- 1:12:17toward him just because I feel like he has so much malice in
- 1:12:21his heart, heart toward Virginia Tech.
- 1:12:24He put so much on that first game, you know, and I get it.
- 1:12:28It was emotional. That's where his dad coached.
- 1:12:30You know, you got to talk about his kids and hanging, hanging
- 1:12:34the game ball to his dad and we talked about his kids fighting.
- 1:12:38They're not going through adversity.
- 1:12:40They have everything that's supposed to, they were supposed
- 1:12:43to be a, a playoff team. I mean, they said that they had
- 1:12:50the number one quarterback, They said they had the number one
- 1:12:52defender. They said they had the number
- 1:12:54one wide receiver. And you keep losing games.
- 1:12:59So fighting is not the word. They are failing.
- 1:13:03He needs to go win some games. You, you had Alabama on the
- 1:13:08ropes. You're supposed to beat Alabama.
- 1:13:10You got all the stuff to beat them.
- 1:13:12He just doesn't coach his teams to win.
- 1:13:15They felt like I think I've seen one of the South Carolina fans
- 1:13:19put a a tweet on on on X and he was like, in this moment, I just
- 1:13:25knew everything in the world was right.
- 1:13:26And it was the first series of it was Virginia Tech.
- 1:13:29You know what I'm saying? Well, they just drove the ball
- 1:13:31and rammed it down. I throw their fans thought they
- 1:13:33were going to the playoffs after that and now they came back down
- 1:13:37to earth. So I'm loving it.
- 1:13:38I'm a hater. So what?
- 1:13:41I hope Lane Given. I hope Lane Kiffin scores 70
- 1:13:45points on him. I really do.
- 1:13:48And I think Lane keeps cover and.
- 1:13:50Keep him away from Virginia Tech.
- 1:13:52I'm going to throw that in too. Lanes don't cover because last
- 1:13:56week they chain got me. He didn't get me this week.
- 1:14:00Almost by 21. Yeah, I feel like, I feel like
- 1:14:05South Carolina's on the verge of, you know, kind of quitting.
- 1:14:08So I had to. Granted, I thought that last
- 1:14:10week too, but I will be taking Ole Miss.
- 1:14:13I just don't like, I don't like the vibes from the Gamecocks
- 1:14:16right now. They're in some hot water.
- 1:14:18Lots of discourse around the coach getting fired and it's
- 1:14:20never, never a good sign. So you telling me I'm the only
- 1:14:24one with Brian? Change it, change it.
- 1:14:27Give me all this. I don't want to be.
- 1:14:32With Brian like that sounds. Don't put me on, please.
- 1:14:38Come on now. It's a stinking ship over there
- 1:14:40buddy. Cox will not be able to handle
- 1:14:45old piss. It's hurting.
- 1:14:47My heart, it's hurting my heart, Tyler.
- 1:14:49I Who's next? Shelton.
- 1:14:52And Oh my God, what? A Let's go.
- 1:14:55All right, I went a little bit with the wild card here, but
- 1:14:58this is in my opinion, the best G5 game of the week.
- 1:15:01This week. Navy and North Texas, two really
- 1:15:03good teams in the American. I think it will be a low
- 1:15:08possession, low scoring game, but I will take Navy to cover.
- 1:15:13I think the Schmidt shipment will get a big win and try to
- 1:15:16assert themselves for supremacy in the American.
- 1:15:20Tally I'm. Going to go with Navy as well.
- 1:15:25I just like watching the play. It's fun, you know what I'm
- 1:15:29saying? Like a bag just said, North
- 1:15:31Texas has been fun to watch too. Great game by child.
- 1:15:33I would have never picked that game as a big Serena.
- 1:15:35It's because I didn't pay enough attention.
- 1:15:37But once he put it up, I was like, you know what, It's
- 1:15:39probably going to be a pretty cool game to watch, you know
- 1:15:41what I'm saying? Just chilling watching football.
- 1:15:45Let's watch that one. So I think Navy is going to pull
- 1:15:47it out though. Yeah, this is this is an
- 1:15:51interesting one, like really kind of clash of styles and
- 1:15:53things like that. So it's going to be a fun one to
- 1:15:55watch on the screen I feel like. But I'm going to take Navy to
- 1:15:59not only take the victory here, I think they'll they'll win
- 1:16:03maybe about about a touchdown. So I'll go with Navy.
- 1:16:09You just said complete clash of styles Navy #1 rushing offense
- 1:16:15in the country. North Texas is the #5 passing
- 1:16:19offense in the country. It's all going to come down to
- 1:16:24possessions. And can North Texas like, stop
- 1:16:28Navy at least once driving the ball?
- 1:16:31I don't think they can. I think Navy wins this game.
- 1:16:36I think I'm with you, Ryan. It's like a touchdown.
- 1:16:38Like Navy does something stupid like gets the ball with 11
- 1:16:41minutes to go in the fourth quarter tie game and they drive
- 1:16:44it and literally score like 8 seconds left because we've seen
- 1:16:48that shit happen. So there we go.
- 1:16:52We're all the do you want to change your mind on this one too
- 1:16:54Tally because Brian went with this one as well.
- 1:16:57I can't be with him by myself if I if I got other people on there
- 1:17:01just can't be. It's like if if we on a scary
- 1:17:05movie and we're we're all trying to get to safety.
- 1:17:08I'm not going with Brian. He does not have a good track
- 1:17:11record to run away from Texas Chainsaw Mexico.
- 1:17:17I don't. Want to go?
- 1:17:19We got it. Always.
- 1:17:20Wants to see what's going on upstairs and then Sheldon's
- 1:17:22going to find a way for us to get out and at least try to go
- 1:17:26get some help. Brian's going to go hide in the
- 1:17:29in the cellar with the hooks and every time.
- 1:17:35Oh, he is just phone you, Brian. That's all right.
- 1:17:39What? What a fun.
- 1:17:40What a fun episode, boys. Anything else before we get
- 1:17:45ready to close this week? We got one more, man.
- 1:17:49Yeah, one more. Oh, you'll even be hanging.
- 1:17:51You'll even. Be hanging, you don't even.
- 1:17:55Want me to pick? We we will see something here
- 1:17:59too. Go for it, Brian.
- 1:18:00All right, so if you told me at the start of the season that in
- 1:18:05this matchup Texas would not have the Heisman hopeful, I
- 1:18:10would have called you a fucking liar.
- 1:18:13But here we are. The Heisman hope hopeful in this
- 1:18:16matchup is Diego Pavia and not Arch Manning.
- 1:18:20So for that very reason, I'm taking Randy.
- 1:18:26I just don't think Texas is that good of a team.
- 1:18:29They should have lost Mississippi.
- 1:18:30They should have lost to Mississippi State, and Dang,
- 1:18:34they should have. Honestly, they should have lost
- 1:18:36Mississippi State last week and they should have lost to
- 1:18:38Kentucky. They should be something like 2
- 1:18:41and 6. I think that'd be about right.
- 1:18:44Give me Vandy, give me a point and a half.
- 1:18:47Vandy wins. Yeah, well, this is actually
- 1:18:51easy pick for me, and it sounds insane to say this, but I
- 1:18:53actually think this is a trap game for Vanderbilt.
- 1:18:56I think Texas has easily a top three, a top three defence in
- 1:19:01the country. Their defence I think is really
- 1:19:03underrated with all the talk about Ohio State and I think I
- 1:19:07think Vanderbilt's just due for a let down.
- 1:19:08So that's why I took Texas Pain link.
- 1:19:10In, in in our lifetimes, did we ever think that Vanderbilt would
- 1:19:15be in a trap game? Vanderbilt.
- 1:19:24Bizarre word. Yeah, kind of crazy sicko mode.
- 1:19:28I thought it was going to be the same kind of like you said, trap
- 1:19:32game. They came and and Vanderbilt
- 1:19:34came off of a tough game last week.
- 1:19:36You know, Missouri's a tough team.
- 1:19:38They ended up losing their quarterback very close game.
- 1:19:42Then going into this game, I think a lot of people are
- 1:19:45overlooking Texas, but then also I've seen the line and I was
- 1:19:48like Vegas always knows something, right?
- 1:19:50So I was like, yeah, I think I'm going to take Texas in this just
- 1:19:53because of the kind of how they had it set up.
- 1:19:56I know it's pick em but I think Texas takes it.
- 1:20:01This is basically a true pick em right with the 1 1/2 point.
- 1:20:03That's basically like field. Yeah, it's basically well, yeah,
- 1:20:09it's the true pick em. So no not the true pick em
- 1:20:14because Texas could win 2827 and you get the hook and Vandy takes
- 1:20:19the win. Yeah, and I thought the default
- 1:20:22advantage for a home team is a point and 1/2 so.
- 1:20:26I thought it was 2 1/2. That's 2 1/2, yeah.
- 1:20:28It's two and a half, 2 1/2, That's 2 1/2.
- 1:20:31Yeah. All right.
- 1:20:32Now, is there anything else you'd like to bring up and talk
- 1:20:35about or is anything that's breaking in the last 80 minutes
- 1:20:39here? Nothing really breaking, but I
- 1:20:44will go back and touch on again that I don't know what got into
- 1:20:50coaching money after the game. He was crying, he was emotional.
- 1:20:55I don't know who he was coaching that game for.
- 1:20:58I don't know who was telling that man he better win.
- 1:21:02But shout out to him for getting out there and putting his all
- 1:21:07in. The trying to get WS, trying to
- 1:21:10get some of these kids to the next level, trying to get some
- 1:21:12kids seen because again, it is fun to see a team that is
- 1:21:19playing hard, a staff just having fun kids that are just
- 1:21:23out there doing what they do. So again, wasn't expecting to
- 1:21:27see him that emotional in that game.
- 1:21:30But maybe we can bring some of these these those emotions to
- 1:21:34this Louisville game and let's make another memory.
- 1:21:38Media staff has been on .2. Have y'all seen a new video yet?
- 1:21:43Haven't seen it yet. When you get off here, when you
- 1:21:46get off here, they got the video.
- 1:21:48You know, when you look at your phone, they tell you turn it
- 1:21:50sideways. When that phone, when that phone
- 1:21:53goes sideways, you know, somebody's cooking.
- 1:21:56I don't. Do that.
- 1:21:57I'm going to do that then. Anything else, gentlemen?
- 1:22:01Yeah, media, media team has been cooking all year.
- 1:22:03And I mean, this is just another example.
- 1:22:05I mean, they they've been knocked out of the park and
- 1:22:07unfortunately we haven't given a whole lot of wins where they can
- 1:22:10really like lean into it, but but what they've been able to
- 1:22:14put out there has been great. All right, they're just getting
- 1:22:19warmed up when James come in. Getting warmed up with James.
- 1:22:25Well, whoever comes in, whoever it may be, because it's going to
- 1:22:29be, I think it's going to be it's, it's going to have to be
- 1:22:33God awful to get us upset. It's got to be God awful if
- 1:22:38we're sitting here on the Monday or Tuesday after the UVA game
- 1:22:43and we're mad, you know, they didn't do something terrible
- 1:22:47wrong. So you don't know.
- 1:22:49All right, let's wrap up this episode of the Boundary Corner
