- 0:07Welcome to the Junto Podcast, where we promote the practical applications of
- 0:12critical thinking and bold creativity.
- 0:15I'm your host, Edgar Mills.
- 0:17Music.
- 0:25Today, I have with me a good friend and colleague, Kurt Fennell.
- 0:30Me and Kurt know each other from, well, for several years now, from Fort Bragg.
- 0:35And it turns out we both live in Rome, Georgia.
- 0:39So, Kurt is a sponsored and competitive-sponsored shooter with a couple of big
- 0:46names, and I'll let him tell you about those.
- 0:49Basically, I shoot for the tactical games, primarily. I compete in a lot of
- 0:54other different disciplines.
- 0:55I'm trying to get into more, like, quantified performance. And recently,
- 0:59this past weekend, I shot at just a precision rifle match at a river bend gun club, gas gun.
- 1:06So, or bolt gun, choose your flavor. I shot in the tactical division where you can only shoot 308, 223.
- 1:13Ended up taking the, my division win there. So that was nice to get the year started.
- 1:18So I had a rough, rough day the day before that. We won't go into that though.
- 1:23But yeah, so, you know, competitive shooting is my life right now.
- 1:27And I'm fortunate enough to have gotten some people to support me this year.
- 1:32So Born Primitive Tactical, incredible clothing company. They make some really awesome stuff.
- 1:38I'm really excited about that relationship run by a bunch of great people.
- 1:42And they've got a great team of shooters and other like-minded individuals already
- 1:47there that I'm coming into the fold with.
- 1:49So I'm excited about that. And JP Rifles as well. So I'm actually getting to
- 1:54shoot up to JP next week and build my rifle and get ready to compete with it for this year.
- 2:00So, you know, and hopefully there's some, a few others in the mix.
- 2:03I, you know, I currently shoot for a Logo Arms as well with the Alien.
- 2:08And I might shoot their Oracle as well in a regional match this year.
- 2:13That's to be determined, but it's a lot of good things going on.
- 2:17Yep. So out here at Osprey Shooting Solutions, we are very excited.
- 2:21I'm fortunate to have Kurt, who's out there in the true competitive world.
- 2:27Kurt and I are looking at building a range hopefully in North Georgia,
- 2:31Northwest Georgia, hopefully pretty soon.
- 2:36That fingers crossed and knock on wood and all that, that it's going to be competitive
- 2:40with some national-level ranges so that we might host some national-level matches
- 2:45to include tactical games or USPSA or PCS League and stuff like that.
- 2:52But certainly what we do now and what we will continue to do is have our own
- 2:56local matches and, of course, execute all our pistol and rifle courses and stuff like that.
- 3:03So I'm very excited for Kurt. It's awesome that he's sponsored with,
- 3:08especially I'm excited about JP. I think that's an awesome sponsorship.
- 3:13I'm not so sure about the lugo alien yet
- 3:16the lago the lago alien yeah it's a
- 3:19cool i think that's an innovative gun as far as actual
- 3:23innovation goes oh it's wild as far yeah i
- 3:25mean you know it that platform the pistol platform it's either 1911 style or
- 3:30striker fire right you know that platform has never really evolved and this
- 3:34is the first time any company has been able to put something out there that
- 3:40truly changes the game when it comes to how a pistol functions and functions,
- 3:46efficiently and effectively, as long as you don't mess with it too much.
- 3:49So, you know, it's, it's a really fun gun to shoot. And I mean,
- 3:53I've really enjoyed it so far, but you know, I'm having some,
- 3:58some technical difficulties of my own with it just because I like to tinker
- 4:02with things, but you know, that's just how things work.
- 4:05Another dude we did, you probably know Deshaun Jenkins? Yeah.
- 4:09Yeah, he shoots Logo aliens. He shoots Logo aliens. Yep.
- 4:13That guy's a phenomenal shooter. Yeah, yeah. I talked to him out at SHOT Show
- 4:17this past, back in January.
- 4:18Yeah, he's around here somewhere. I think his normal guy clubs south.
- 4:23He's closer to Atlanta. I think he shoots at South River mostly. Yeah.
- 4:27So what about the Logo is innovative?
- 4:31The obvious thing is the Borax is innovative. And the whole slide doesn't reciprocate.
- 4:38Yeah. So the mechanism on how it works, it's a piston driven system.
- 4:43So, you know, it, they were able to design it so that the piston sits above the barrel.
- 4:49Right. Right. And, and the only piece of the slide that reciprocates are the
- 4:56two sides of the slide. So your optic.
- 5:00Stay still it doesn't reciprocate so you're reducing
- 5:03that reciprocating mass right so you're
- 5:06already having to deal with recoil so now you're having to deal with less mass
- 5:09moving and that bore axis like
- 5:12you said is lower in the hand so therefore you can get a greater mechanical
- 5:16advantage on that reciprocating recoil so
- 5:19it makes the gun shoot really fat flat and
- 5:22you can shoot it very fast because that dot's not
- 5:24moving nearly as much now they have versions
- 5:28of it that you know for uspsa that
- 5:32you have to run because they have to have a frame
- 5:35mounted yeah frame mounted optics
- 5:39so they have versions of that that you know you can run so mine's not because
- 5:44i don't have to have that because i'm not competing in uspsa so yeah but it's
- 5:48it's a sweet gun man i don't know how much i see that wago has a concealed oh
- 5:54yeah all it concealed but it's a It is.
- 5:56I actually got to play with it out of shot. It's called the Remus. It's pretty sweet.
- 6:00There's some little mechanisms that they introduced in that platform.
- 6:06Number one, it is very small and you can absolutely conceal carry this thing
- 6:09if you want to. And it runs off the same piston driven system.
- 6:12So as far as being able to control, because typically when you go down into
- 6:17smaller platforms like that, you're going, the recoil creeps up on you and it's harder to control.
- 6:23Well, with their system in place, you're, you're, you're greatly reducing the
- 6:29amount of recoil that you're having in a much smaller compact system.
- 6:32So, and on top of that, there's a really neat way that I can't even,
- 6:36I would butcher it if I try to describe it, but there's basically this little
- 6:40tab on front of the optic and you can depress it and then break the entire slide
- 6:44back with everything in tow instead of just the two sides.
- 6:49So it's pretty neat how they do it. And like I said, don't take my word for
- 6:53that. I saw them do it, and then I did it, and I was like, that's pretty cool.
- 6:56But there's some pretty neat stuff going on. Now, I wonder if they built that
- 7:00gun for actual concealed carry people or for IDPA. So a lot of people are saying that.
- 7:07I'm on the Logo forums, and people are fired up about it because they're like,
- 7:11I can conceal carry this and then walk in and go compete with it and dominate
- 7:14just because of how it functions.
- 7:17That's what I was thinking was they were just looking at the smoke IDPA.
- 7:19Well, that's the world they dominated this.
- 7:21Yeah, USPSA and IDPA is where they, you know, absolutely dominate.
- 7:26Because I'm pretty sure when that gun first came out, it wasn't legal in any.
- 7:31Well, so it was initially, then USPSA was like, wait a second.
- 7:35Yeah. You know, and then they kind of, I don't know the whole dynamic behind
- 7:38it, but that's why Lago then came out with the limited optics version.
- 7:42Basically, to where it's a truly frame mounted optic.
- 7:46So it actually reciprocates with the slide. Yeah. No, it's cool,
- 7:50for sure. It's a cool guy.
- 7:52I'm just still here shooting the old Glock 19, you know. Well,
- 7:55you know, some of the Glock's got to represent.
- 7:59That's awesome. What about, are you finding any, is that gun you're shooting today, JP?
- 8:04No. What's that? That was a build, that's a gun that I won at the USASOC Sniper
- 8:09Comp last year. And it's just been sitting on my shelf.
- 8:12And, you know, I've got my JP build that I'm going to be building next week with JP.
- 8:18And so I just kind of put together, it's a Lancer build. and it's a hammer i
- 8:23mean i was i went to a quantified performance match what.
- 8:28Is something in the middle of january and was reaching
- 8:31out to 750 meters with it nice so
- 8:35it's it's a great gun i mean i was i went
- 8:38out with a buddy of mine yesterday and we had
- 8:41a target at 500 meters and i put two bullets
- 8:44on top of each other yeah you know so they can shoot
- 8:46yeah that's awesome yeah that's good
- 8:49so competition shooting that's that's the
- 8:52hot topic of the day and it doesn't
- 8:55need to be said especially on the june toe podcast necessarily
- 8:59but since we're talking about it competition shooting
- 9:02for civilians is the
- 9:05way to get better at shooting that's all there's to it no other
- 9:09place do you have the kind of time stress and
- 9:13competition that you that you get with
- 9:16competition shoot and it doesn't really matter what organization yes
- 9:21idpa is a a little bit
- 9:23of a slow mover compared to uspsa oh sure and there's some that's where the
- 9:28old guys go that's where i go right but you're still racing against other people
- 9:33you're trying yourself against other humans just because some old guys out there
- 9:37don't want to try new things that that's on them And I believe it was only a couple of years ago,
- 9:42IDPA allowed appendix carry inside the waistband.
- 9:48No, competition breeds excellence. So you go out and test yourself against others
- 9:53and you find your weaknesses. Yeah.
- 9:56Because something about that buzzer going off. You will find it immediately.
- 10:00It changes things for people. I mean, I've tested it.
- 10:03Like I will get people to do things under a buzzer. Then I'll take the buzzer
- 10:06away and they immediately improve because it's something about that stress of
- 10:10that buzzer going off. It's psychological.
- 10:12It gets in your head. So being able to put yourself into those situations and
- 10:16test it will really show you where your baseline is because coming out to the
- 10:20range is necessary and you need to do it. That's how you get better.
- 10:23But you need to go put it to practice.
- 10:26You really need to go test it to see how you actually react under pressure.
- 10:30You have to test yourself. And unfortunately, you know, not everybody out there
- 10:35is a special operator or a special forces guy or a SWAT guy. And even then...
- 10:42Not all Green Berets are good shooters. Oh, no. Yeah.
- 10:46Even active duty, like your average guy, man, he's. You'd be shocked.
- 10:51C class or B class. I think that's being generous.
- 10:55Yeah. Probably C class. I wouldn't say D.
- 10:58I've done some guys. Don't get me wrong. I know some guys. I mean,
- 11:03yeah, probably C class anyway.
- 11:05And that's, civilians don't understand the numbers that go along with that.
- 11:11But being a B or A class shooter in USPSA, you're moving, man.
- 11:16Yeah. So never mind Grandmaster, right? Oh, yeah. Never mind that.
- 11:20That's race guns. The time standards that exist are phenomenal.
- 11:24And some civilians, it blows their minds when they first come out here.
- 11:29And you say, yeah, well, a sub-second draw is kind of the standard.
- 11:34They can't even imagine it. And you show it and you do it a couple times.
- 11:38It don't take long for them.
- 11:40To understand and then to be able to pick it up. But just something as simple as a draw.
- 11:45It's faster than normal humans. Yeah. Even gun enthusiasts. Yeah.
- 11:52So if you call yourself a gun enthusiast, but you don't go and do a competition
- 11:56once in a while, yeah, that's all you are is an enthusiast.
- 12:00Right. You're not a shooter. Yeah. You got to put it to the test.
- 12:04Absolutely. You got to measure yourself against others.
- 12:07So even us, right, we do local matches. We do our own local things.
- 12:11The next one coming up in March is Liberty or Death.
- 12:14We celebrate the Patrick Henry speech delivered to the 2nd Virginia Congress.
- 12:20And it's going to be a two-gun. But our matches are simple.
- 12:24They're four stages long, maybe a half a day on the range.
- 12:28We'll run, and we'll have anywhere from, I don't know, maybe 10, 15 shooters.
- 12:35Everybody will run the stage. Then we change stages. Everybody runs the stage.
- 12:40But now, thank God, my son has come from Colorado and lives in Georgia full-time now.
- 12:45So now all our matches are on practice score.
- 12:48Yeah, that's nice. So you can go back and- Look at your results.
- 12:51And see results. Yeah. So that's a big deal.
- 12:54I know it's, I don't want to seem uneducated to the masses here,
- 12:58but practice score was not user-friendly for me to figure out.
- 13:01Well, you know, you're in that age bracket where, you know, technology is a tricky thing.
- 13:06Technology is starting to get the best of me. Yeah, but practice score.
- 13:10Yeah, that's a very important, that's the universal standard.
- 13:13To look for matches to keep your scores, almost every match out there,
- 13:19even local matches, run on Practice Score. Yeah.
- 13:22You don't necessarily pay through Practice Score, and you don't always have
- 13:27to sign up through Practice Score.
- 13:28No. You sign up on my website for
- 13:31our matches, but your scores will be on Practice Score under OSS stuff.
- 13:36Yeah. So that's a good way to track yourself, track your metrics.
- 13:41Look back on your last year's scores versus this year's scores.
- 13:44Because there's a lot of drills out there, especially when you do classifiers.
- 13:49They're standard. There's a standard, yeah. There's an absolute standard on
- 13:52distances, times, and all those things.
- 13:54So you can see how far you've progressed or not.
- 13:58That's a good thing that the Tactical Games is doing this year.
- 14:01They've introduced set standardized shooting courses of fire.
- 14:07Yeah. And there's, I can't, I think there's six or seven, maybe eight of them,
- 14:11but, and they, yesterday they sent them out.
- 14:15There may be some edits here and there to them, but they're going to be set
- 14:18in stone and all the targets, the distances, the course of fire will be the
- 14:23same from Georgia to California.
- 14:26And you, they put them out there so that you can test them and run them.
- 14:30So I'll test the bejesus out of them so that when I show up,
- 14:33I can execute hopefully well, but it's a measurable metric.
- 14:37You can measure yourself against everyone in the country who's doing it,
- 14:41just kind of see where you stand and you can get better or you can get worse.
- 14:45You know, it's kind of up to you.
- 14:47And most organizations have that. They have a, there's a set group of drills
- 14:52or stages that are standard.
- 14:54Yeah. Like quantify performance has one, you know, and it's,
- 14:57it's like standing prone, you know, standing unsupported two shots at a hundred.
- 15:03And then you go to a ladder and then you got to engage a set of targets on the
- 15:07ladder. Then you go to prone and you engage one target at the end.
- 15:09And it's the exact same way every time. The distances are the same.
- 15:13The setup is the same. That's good.
- 15:15And folks, from a training perspective, what does that mean?
- 15:18It means there's consistency. You have a metric, and the metric's not changing on you.
- 15:24So you did good this one time, then you didn't do so good the next time.
- 15:27So consistency is very important in your training program.
- 15:32When it comes to shooting anyway, I imagine that applies to sports of all types.
- 15:38Consistency is critical.
- 15:40So like the build drill, for instance, that's an old-fashioned standard. Everybody knows it.
- 15:45Seven yards, six rounds, as fast as you can shoot. What's your bill drill time?
- 15:49Right. Everybody knows that.
- 15:52I think USPSA has the steel challenge. And they have a set.
- 15:57There's only so many ways you can set up five pieces of steel.
- 16:01But they have them all, and they're measured out, and they're all standard.
- 16:04Every time, the smoke and hope drill or stage is the same in California as it
- 16:10is in Omaha, Nebraska, as it is in Atlanta, Georgia.
- 16:14So that's good now I'm going to tell you when you come out to shoot matches here at OSS,
- 16:21you're going to get some crazy stuff they're not
- 16:24standard stuff now sometimes we do run we'll run
- 16:26the build drill or we'll run some standard drill what
- 16:30I call skill drills but then I'll set up some stages
- 16:33where there's lots of movement and stuff like that just for
- 16:37fun you know people like to move and shoot we got
- 16:40a 20 acre property here that we run on our
- 16:43oss challenges for the mug mile and coming
- 16:46up in april by the way we got the oss to green beret challenge
- 16:49that's going to be a team event but we run up into the woods and shoot of course
- 16:56there's a fire out there in the woods while carrying stuff and all kind of stuff
- 17:00so yeah those aren't standard by any means but they they certainly are fun competition
- 17:06shooting i encourage you to do it.
- 17:08Uh what else is going on what else is going on with you kurt that's
- 17:13it man i mean this whole year is dedicated to you know i want to be the best
- 17:17one of the i want to be the best in the sport you know the tactical games and
- 17:21i sprinkle in all the other stuff to try to cast a wider net when it comes to
- 17:26improving my skill sets because to enhance the in-between yeah right so quantify
- 17:31performance is long range gas gun.
- 17:33You know, I'll go do PCSL because it's, you know, typically fast paced shooting,
- 17:37you know, movements and, you know, going back and forth.
- 17:40So, uh, between, you know, your rifle and your pistol.
- 17:43So, and I'll throw in USPSA stuff as well, you know, cause that's good pistol
- 17:47and it works, you know, eyes, right.
- 17:49Moving, you know, the transition stuff that doesn't, just because you're doing
- 17:52what just a pistol doesn't mean it still doesn't help you with your rifle.
- 17:54So learn how to transition between targets and weapons manipulations and all that kind of stuff.
- 17:59When you're competing at the elite level.
- 18:02Every single movement matters because you're trying to shave off tenths of a
- 18:06second here, tenths of a second, right?
- 18:09You know, you shave off a tenth, a tenth, a tenth, a tenth. Well,
- 18:12you start creeping up on a second.
- 18:13That's a massive amount of time in a stage that only lasts 20 seconds, right?
- 18:18So that's what I'm trying to do is my calendar this year is Banana Lands with just competitions.
- 18:25I've got one this coming weekend.
- 18:27I'm going to go shoot The Proving Grounds with a good friend of mine that works
- 18:30out at the same gym. He comes out here as well.
- 18:32You know, so that's a very similar to the tactical games. They are,
- 18:36their claim is to be more shooting based than fitness base, which is great because it's not as painful.
- 18:41So that's always nice. And then, you know, the next weekend I've got a PRS match
- 18:45and I'm going to go shoot over in Alabama.
- 18:47And then the weekend after that, like, so it's constant, constant stuff.
- 18:51And then I've got, you know, military competitions that I'm going to be doing.
- 18:53I've got USASOC coming up, might do ISC after that.
- 18:57You know, I've got another long range down at Altus, you know,
- 19:01So it's all over the place. Nice. Yeah.
- 19:04That's busy, man. Oh, I'm going to be very busy this year. You're busy doing fun stuff.
- 19:08Well, you know, in order to, you know, you want to be the best in the sport,
- 19:12you got to be obsessed. You got to be out there.
- 19:15100%. Yeah. You got to be obsessed with it and you got to be unhealthily,
- 19:19you know, like there is no balance.
- 19:22Right. You know, I try to explain that to my wife because she doesn't really
- 19:25understand those things of why I can't do more here, this or that.
- 19:29I'm like, literally every waking moment I have is dedicated to trying to be
- 19:33the best in this sport because, you know, the greats, there is no balance.
- 19:37No, there's nothing else. It doesn't. You're just out there running the gun
- 19:40and that's it. Yep. Weekend on weekend on weekend.
- 19:44That's good yeah i don't
- 19:47know if i have i definitely don't have the time certainly the energy
- 19:50yeah that schedule just running like that every weekend is crazy yes but yeah
- 19:56man the pros are doing it yeah so that's what i mean i know some guys it'll
- 20:00shoot 30 plus matches over the course of a year yeah you know so i was shooting
- 20:06tactical games matches and i would do two or three Yeah.
- 20:09And then the national championship. Well, now I'm trying to literally do two,
- 20:13three, four a month. Yeah.
- 20:16You know, that's drastic. That's moving. That's moving around.
- 20:18That's a lot different. So, you know, sometimes two in one weekend. Yeah.
- 20:22You know, so it's, or if I can find one during the week, I'll go shoot it. I don't care.
- 20:26And then when I'm not shooting a competition or a match, I'm behind my house
- 20:30or here or, you know, trying to just constantly push the edge on how to get better.
- 20:36Well, hopefully we can bring that to Northwest Georgia. It's having a place
- 20:39where the big matches are. Oh, we're going to have it.
- 20:42We're going to have it. We want the big matches to be happening here as well
- 20:46as, you know, everywhere. Down in Florida or South Carolina.
- 20:51That's Proving Grounds. Yeah, this one is in the sawmill, but they're kind of
- 20:56all over the southeast as well.
- 20:58So I'm sure that's something that we could bring here as well.
- 21:00You know, obviously the title game is my affiliation with them.
- 21:03I've already had those discussions about doing skirmishes here,
- 21:06and I'm sure we could manage a regional size event as well.
- 21:09You know, quantify performance, you know, if we get that range that we're looking at getting out there.
- 21:15So we could definitely bring that in because that will fit in that box.
- 21:18And you got PCSL, USPSA, IDPA.
- 21:21So many, man. Yeah, all of them. All the things. And limiting factor for us
- 21:25to get those kind of organizations.
- 21:27Like, I know PCS League, they're making it user-friendly. They don't,
- 21:31there's no affiliation requirements, unlike,
- 21:35Maybe USPSA is a little bitchy about, a little costly. Right.
- 21:39But they've had some money management issues. Yeah.
- 21:42There's all kinds of things. We're trying to stay clear of any controversy around
- 21:46here and just have fun. That's right.
- 21:47But for those of you who think about, so we're talking about how busy and how
- 21:54hard you got to push to be the best, right?
- 21:57But don't think if you show up to a match that there's not just a whole field
- 22:02of regular guys out there having fun. Oh, yeah. That's the majority.
- 22:06That's the majority. That's the majority. Yeah. The top 10% of dudes are high-speed
- 22:11pros. I'd say even less than that.
- 22:13Yeah. You know, yeah, you're probably right. I'd say less than that for sure. Probably top 5%. Yeah.
- 22:19They take it seriously. Are the guys who are doing it for a living.
- 22:22Everybody else is regular Joe. Yeah. And they got, you know.
- 22:26Like, I've got companies now that are, you know, investing in me. Yeah.
- 22:30To go out and execute and be the best in the sport. Yeah, so it's literally
- 22:33becoming a job. It's a job now. No. That's what I wanted.
- 22:36How happens to be a job you love? And I know. That's the whole point.
- 22:38It's like I get excited showing.
- 22:40Yeah. I wake up in the morning and I call it earning my breakfast. I go dry fire. Yep.
- 22:44You know, and it's doing those little things. Everything I do is tailored to trying to be the best.
- 22:50So, yes, that's Kurt's job. He's arranged his life so that he can do what he
- 22:56loves for a living. And that's good.
- 22:59But the vast majority of shooters out there are regular guys.
- 23:02I don't know. Like, you know, at the last weekend's match, everyone out there
- 23:06is just having a good time. Just having a good time. You know?
- 23:08Yep. And it's an excellent, no matter what organization you go out to shoot with.
- 23:13If you bring your 12-year-old kid, he's going to have a blast.
- 23:16It's a good family sport. Now, there's some shit talkers out there and whatnot.
- 23:19But generally speaking, it's just a good time.
- 23:23Most people are out there literally to help anybody else get better. Oh, yeah.
- 23:29That's the big thing about the tactical games is that community, man.
- 23:32You can show up, and I have an absolute clue what's going on.
- 23:36But if you're willing to learn and can obviously put in the physical work and
- 23:40have some basic weapons proficiencies, people will give you anything you need.
- 23:45Like if you gun breaks, I've watched one of the, you know, guys that,
- 23:49you know, James Gill, he's an awesome dude, works with the tactical games.
- 23:53He runs all their basically shooting stuff, makes the stages really evil.
- 23:58You know, I watched him literally offer his guns to a guy because he showed
- 24:03up and didn't have a proper device, you know, muzzle device,
- 24:05because our muzzle device is limited because you're shooting next to other people.
- 24:09And here, yeah, I'll use mine for the whole weekend. That's awesome.
- 24:12Like, well, that's incredible. And that's, I've seen that happen multiple times
- 24:16across all different types of people for magazines or plate carriers, things break, right?
- 24:23Whatever pistols, it doesn't matter. So, and then they're all having a good
- 24:26time. Like, you know, if you're struggling, we're going to help you.
- 24:29And that folks is the gun industry or the training industry in a nutshell.
- 24:35Everybody wants to see everyone else succeed.
- 24:38So everybody's out to have a good time. You don't see a lot of,
- 24:42there's a little bit of ego when you get to the competitive levels,
- 24:46right? That you're dealing with.
- 24:47But generally speaking at regular guy level, nah, man, you don't see that stuff.
- 24:51I mean, you do have your, some people like, you know, at the,
- 24:54even the last match I was at, the guys get chirpy because, Hey,
- 24:58you know, make sure you're calling my hits or something like that. I'm like, okay.
- 25:01Right. You know, if you're hitting it, you can see it or you should be calling
- 25:05your own hits. There's always somebody that's possible right there.
- 25:07Yeah. Yeah, you know, all these little things, you know, but,
- 25:10you know, those guys, they're kind of that, you know, we'll call them almost
- 25:13like a keyboard warrior type dude, you know, like they show up and they think
- 25:17they should be doing really well, but they're not because they actually don't put in the time.
- 25:21And then they come out with this, you know, air about them that,
- 25:25and it just gets punctured real quick.
- 25:27So, but that's okay. Yeah. That's all right. It's good for them.
- 25:30It is good for them. Yeah.
- 25:32Nothing like a little piece of humble pie to keep you. Oh, I've been there.
- 25:36Keep you. I needed it, you know. Keep you on the ground.
- 25:39Yeah, that's good. Competition. So, yeah, good people. We're on track.
- 25:45We're on track, and we're going to hopefully be the ones bringing you that in
- 25:49northwest Georgia soon.
- 25:51Get out and shoot for sure. Come out here and shoot or go down to South River
- 25:56down in Covington or up to River Bend.
- 25:59Where is that? Dawsonville. Dawsonville. Dawsonville. It's about an hour and a half from here.
- 26:03Yeah, it's a little dry from here. And, hey, I fully realize Rome is a little
- 26:07dry for most places too, but there's not a lot else going on beyond that.
- 26:12You got Tallapoosa has a range down there where I know they do IDPA and I think USPSA every weekend.
- 26:21And Waco, Georgia, Tallapoosa or Waco is down there pretty close to I-20 extreme west.
- 26:27And then beyond that, I don't know, like Talladega, the, the civilian,
- 26:33military, CMP range out there, they do action shooting. Yep.
- 26:39But I don't know of too many other places, other than the indoor ranges around
- 26:43town. Yeah. They do their little.
- 26:45I'm not a big fun fan. Nah. I mean, if that's what you got, that's what you
- 26:48got. I mean, at the end of the day, that works. But like, I mean,
- 26:50there's a PCSL match going on.
- 26:53I think they do it twice a month at the vault over in Atlanta.
- 26:58Yeah. I'm like, I don't understand how I'm going to run a PCSL match with a
- 27:02carbine pistol in a bay. So confined.
- 27:04That's 20 yards, maybe 20 yards wide. Yep.
- 27:07So confined. So loud. So loud. Yep.
- 27:11But still, if that's all you got, that's all you got. That's all you got,
- 27:14yeah. A lot of people that come out here on a regular basis,
- 27:16they shoot, uh, during the week, they'll shoot at, uh, Stoddard's or,
- 27:20or Georgia Fireline. Yep.
- 27:24Or the vault and places like that. And any, anybody's happy to have you out.
- 27:29Uh, let's see. What else is in news? What else is in news?
- 27:34We've got, we've got an unusual event coming up. It's called the special mission skirmish.
- 27:40And that is going to be, I just went and did a site survey today for that.
- 27:44I'm still unsure. It was going to be at the Northwest campus over here in Northwest Rome.
- 27:51Well, we, we've lost access to that
- 27:54property. They're, they're starting to demolish it for a rebuild. Yeah.
- 27:58So there's a, there's a school that I'm looking at and then there's just a residential
- 28:02house, but it's out in the woods, which might make for good rural movement.
- 28:06Anyway, it's force on force, UTM, and both teams are, are opposition teams.
- 28:13And your mission is to go and capture an HVT on the objective.
- 28:18It's going to be a good time. It's going to be fun. I'm eager to see all the
- 28:22tactical YouTube tactics that come out of the woodworks because I'm not,
- 28:26we're not doing any, we're not doing any training.
- 28:28We need the cameras in the house. We're going to have cameras everywhere.
- 28:32What you're going to get as a participant is you're going to show up and you're
- 28:36going to be a part of a four-man team.
- 28:38And then you guys will have two hours to plan your mission.
- 28:43I'll look at it. You can ask advice. You can do whatever you want.
- 28:47But if everything looks relatively safe and you're not getting on anyone's private
- 28:51property, I'll let you run your mish.
- 28:54We'll see what happens once everybody gets in the house at the same time.
- 28:58I can't wait to see that. Jeez.
- 29:01Lots of cameras. Anyway, it's meant to be fun. It's meant to be a blast.
- 29:06But we have OCs with each team, observer controllers, so that it doesn't turn
- 29:11into an unhinged paintball match.
- 29:14That's what is going to happen. It's definitely not going to happen.
- 29:17It's not going to become an unhinged paintball match. If I'm there,
- 29:21it's going to be an unhinged paintball match.
- 29:23And then after the fact, we're going to do AAR and then have some catered chow.
- 29:27Can't decide if it's going to be some Moe's Barbecue, most likely Moe's Barbecue.
- 29:32So it's going to be a really good time. It's a teaser for the special operations
- 29:37experience that we do over at the Southern North Logical League,
- 29:41which is a much more in-depth course.
- 29:44But check that out. Please check all our stuff out. All the shooting stuff is
- 29:48at OSS, OspreyshootingSolutions.com.
- 29:51All of the sort of outdoor adventure type stuff that doesn't involve shooting
- 29:56is over at TwoTeamGuys.com.
- 29:59That's Land Navigation Search and Rescue Mountaineer that we do in conjunction
- 30:03with Higher Ground and Nathan Hicks.
- 30:06And we're planning for a spring search and rescue Mountaineer, by the way.
- 30:12We do a long range evasion course which is urban
- 30:17and rural movement from atlanta out
- 30:19to rome and it's really really cool so there's a lot
- 30:22of cool stuff going over there and then if you're listening to this then you
- 30:26know all about the jinto podcast.com so please feel free to chime in let us
- 30:34know what you like or don't like send us topics you'd like to hear about if

- 30:54I don't know. Do you have a social media where people can follow?
- 30:59Yeah. K-Factor 85. K-Factor 85. That's Kurt.
- 31:03And Kurt is sponsored now by JP and by Born Primitive.
- 31:08Born Primitive. And that's good stuff. So get out there and look at those guys as well.
- 31:12Those are both big names in the, in the tactical industry.
- 31:16Well, born primitive in the tactical where JP and the competition shooting industry
- 31:21specifically. That's right. Yep.
- 31:23So JP rifles are hot rod. They're hot rod for sure. They're nice.
- 31:27Yeah. They're very nice.
- 31:29So get out there and do that guys and come out here and shoot.
- 31:32We got stuff on the calendar all the time.
