- 0:50roll with it whoever he decide but you got some choices at 33 though yeah i
- 0:54got me we gotta go kareem okay all right That's cool.
- 0:58So what's good? What's been up with you? Oh man, nothing much.
- 1:01Did that sleep study crap last night. We was just talking about had the worst
- 1:06night's sleep I've had in a year.
- 1:10How the hell are you going to put something, make me put something around my
- 1:14chest and my face and expect me to have a good night's sleep?
- 1:19Yeah, yeah, I hear you. I do not envy you in that regard.
- 1:23Not at all. Yeah, so anyway, man, what are you talking about today?
- 1:27So today we're going to talk about 10 best black movie and or TV villains. I like it.
- 1:36Y'all saw an episode. Yeah, yeah. And crazy enough, as we just went over before
- 1:41we hit record, we only overlapped on two characters.
- 1:46Which is shocking. Because I thought at least half we would overlap on.
- 1:51I knew for a fact I would have at least two that you didn't choose.
- 1:54Because I know you haven't sat down and watched Breaking Bad.
- 1:57Breaking Bad, for sure. Let me stop.
- 2:01You want to do the ones we overlap on first?
- 2:04Yeah. I mean, let's just knock them out. Let's get them out the way.
- 2:07So the two, it was two, right, that we overlapped on. Yep.
- 2:11We chose Wesley Snipes as Nino Brown, New Jack City.
- 2:15I don't think we need to say much about that. We all know who Nino is.
- 2:19He's a legendary character.
- 2:22And the other one we chose was Denzel Washington as Alonzo in Training Day.
- 2:28Again, we don't need to say much about that. A legendary character and performance from Denzel.
- 2:33So as the years go on, he was a horrible person. Dude, he was scum.
- 2:43Like as I was doing this, I thought about it. I'm like, yeah,
- 2:47man, his character was just wild. Wild.
- 2:50Wild and out, bro. I mean, like,
- 2:54He said that he had to die. Like, you know, people like, you know,
- 2:57it should be a training day part two.
- 2:59He's like, no, I had to die at the end of that movie. I agree.
- 3:02He had to die at the end of that movie. To show how O.C. he was.
- 3:07Think about the bathroom sink.
- 3:09How are you going to explain what happened to your trainee?
- 3:14Bro, the fact that he like called
- 3:17them dudes like Murkham, gave them fools that blender full of money.
- 3:23How would he have explained that that you're right and made him carry it right,
- 3:29you're carrying your bounty,
- 3:33yeah he was oc.
- 3:37Which is why he's on the list yes all right bro uh let's let's let's just get
- 3:43into it then let's have fun with this thing man so you want you want to start
- 3:46you want me to start all right so So the other person I chose that we didn't
- 3:52have or we didn't overlap on, I guess I should say,
- 3:56is Danny Glover as Mr. On the Color Purple.
- 4:00The original Color Purple, not that remake with Fantasia. Right.
- 4:05Whoopi Goldberg, Danny Glover, Oprah Winfrey. No, hey, that guy was.
- 4:11Talk about an example of how not to treat your woman.
- 4:16Just watch this movie. I mean, this guy was for the worst husband ever.
- 4:22He was an example of how just not to be.
- 4:24I'm just. Yeah, dude. He had his side piece stay up in the crib.
- 4:29And then had his wife cooking, cooking for his side piece. Come on, man.
- 4:36Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:40Pedophile, rapist. Yeah. Abusive. Abusive physically and verbally. Yeah.
- 4:48Just an overall piece of shit. Piece of shit.
- 4:54Yes, Mr. Piece of shit. And you can't, And obviously you can write that on paper
- 5:00and make anybody look despicable. Yeah.
- 5:03But he played that role. The way he played it. Yeah. It's just like.
- 5:08Yeah. I hated Danny Glover until Lethal Weapon.
- 5:10Yeah. I was like, oh, okay. He ain't that bad. Yeah.
- 5:13Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He played that part a little too well, in my opinion. Yeah. Go ahead, bro.
- 5:21So my first one, well, third one, Stringer Bell.
- 5:26Stringer Bell. Give it to me. So The Wire, every Sunday, it's me and my ex-wife's thing.
- 5:33Kids in the bed, we sit down and watch The Wire. Popcorn, literally.
- 5:38Bucket of popcorn, that's our Sunday night thing.
- 5:41Until I got a little bit older and had watched The Wire, because I'm about to shock some people.
- 5:47I've watched The Wire beginning to end seven times. The entire series?
- 5:52Seven times. Wow. Wow.
- 5:55That dude is my least favorite character on the show.
- 5:59And I loved it when it was live and when it was happening. I was like,
- 6:03man, String, you're the best character on here. And that dude was trash.
- 6:11The scene with D'Angelo was like, where's Wallace String?
- 6:16Watching it now, I'm like, that fool just got up, pointed at D'Angelo,
- 6:21and then walked out. and then he put a hit on D'Angelo.
- 6:28So wasn't The Wire loosely based on like real characters in Baltimore?
- 6:34Yeah. So, you know, obviously Snoop, the deacon.
- 6:37Melvin was a, he was a heroin dealer and kingpin.
- 6:43Shoot. Remember the dude, remember the dude that showed up in prison when Omar
- 6:47went to prison and Omar stood up and knuckled and the dude had the knife.
- 6:51It's been years since I watched it.
- 6:54The dude that got killed with Omar at Monk's apartment.
- 6:57When Omar jumped off the cliff and broke his ankle. Yeah. That's the real Omar.
- 7:02What? Yeah. That's the real Omar. Wow. You get a chance, man.
- 7:07He's done some podcasts over the years.
- 7:10Yeah, man. Interesting. Yeah. He said that Omar, he said that Michael Williams,
- 7:16he said, man, I couldn't have picked a better person to play that kid. He was like, that was me.
- 7:21Okay. I was okay all right all right
- 7:24I'm gonna stick with the wire next person I got on the list is Michael K Williams
- 7:29as Omar yeah I mean the worst of the worst tough guys was terrified of Omar yes the dude was like.
- 7:44A superhero this this the stuff he used to do
- 7:46and get away with like that whole projects
- 7:50all of them was just terrified of omar
- 7:54i was kind of you know pissed off the way he went out oh
- 7:57dude i threw something at the tv oh man i was just like
- 8:00really that that's how y'all gonna let omar go out but if
- 8:03you re-watch it you see it coming a
- 8:07whole season beforehand when you re-watch
- 8:10it when all them little shorties kept talking and that one shorty was
- 8:13like i ain't scared of him canard was the only one who ever
- 8:17showed fear yeah because he respected him yeah
- 8:20and the reason he killed him is because if
- 8:23you think if you remember when he pulled the gun
- 8:25on michael now michael was like man if he would have
- 8:28made me from monk's apartment the other night i would be dead
- 8:31and canard caught him a gimp he just
- 8:35he looked him up and down as he was limping away and caught him a
- 8:37gimp he had lost all respect for oh wow
- 8:41and that was i think two two episodes before he shot it
- 8:43wow yeah yeah yeah
- 8:46but omar omar was unreal man yeah and the
- 8:50wire is a great series for anyone who hasn't watched it please go back and watch
- 8:55it it it lives up to the hype i know people say it's like one of the best series
- 8:59ever it really is go back and watch the wire so you can if you haven't seen
- 9:04it so you can understand some of these characters that we're talking about.
- 9:09Go ahead, bro. So this character, personally, to me, is the best bad guy in
- 9:17TV and movie history. Mm-hmm.
- 9:19Gus Fray. You got to tell me about him. So...
- 9:24We don't know his backstory. He's from Chile.
- 9:28It's mentioned several times in the series that, so he worked for the cartel.
- 9:35He set up, he had some chicken spots in New Mexico. What show is he from?
- 9:41Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Okay. So he had the chicken spot set up,
- 9:45but that was his distribution channel.
- 9:47He used to put the meth inside of the sauce that they used to ship back and
- 9:52forth across the border.
- 9:54But he was one of those guys, like, think of characters that you've seen in
- 9:58movies that are smiling one second, and then their facial expressions change. You're like, oh, shit.
- 10:05That was him. Was this Giancarlo Exposito? Oh, yeah. Okay.
- 10:11So. Or a posito, however they pronounce it now.
- 10:15There's a scene where he's just fed up with Walter.
- 10:18And you got to watch Walter Zutland. And look, people love Walter White.
- 10:22They walked around with the hat on the glasses.
- 10:25Walter Wright dismantled the drug operation as large as the Nasdaq. These are his words.
- 10:31If I stop going to work, a business the size of a business large enough to go
- 10:35on the Nasdaq would cease to exist.
- 10:37Right. And he brought it down with his greed.
- 10:41They took him in the desert, had him tied up, you know, Walt being Walt,
- 10:47because at that point he was he was Heisenberg.
- 10:50Man, Giancarlo Esposito was
- 10:51like, I will kill your wife, your son and your infant daughter. Oh, wow.
- 11:00He poisoned the entire cartel. And there was a famous box cutter scene where
- 11:07he comes into the lab, doesn't say a word.
- 11:11Walt's pleading and begging because Walt thinks him and Jesse are about to get killed.
- 11:15He walks over and Mike from Beverly
- 11:19Hills Cop. Remember when Eddie Murphy threw old boy over the table?
- 11:21Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I forget his name. Yeah. But, you know.
- 11:24He's in that? Oh, yeah. He's one of the main characters.
- 11:27Oh, wow. Okay. So he's standing back there with a gun and Walt and Jesse.
- 11:32Mm-hmm. And then there's another dude standing in front of them.
- 11:35And he walk over there. He put on the suit,
- 11:38the hazard suit Put the gloves on, Walt just talking Trying to spare his life
- 11:42He walked over, grabbed one of his own workers Cut his throat with a box cutter
- 11:46And held him, staring at Walt Let him go,
- 11:52Walked back up the steps, took the suit off, said, get to work and left. Wow.
- 12:01Now, that's just a tip. You know, the way you are describing this guy,
- 12:06I might have to watch Breaking Bad.
- 12:08But his his whole spiel, he was a friend of the police and he talked like this.
- 12:15Like, thank you so much. I appreciate it. But when his whole demeanor changed, it was stoic.
- 12:22Oh, shit. This dude is crazy. Yeah, man. To me, the greatest bad guy.
- 12:27All right. All right. Yeah.
- 12:28I might have to watch Breaking Bad just for that performance.
- 12:32All right. Next up on my list, I'm going to go with a favorite,
- 12:35Tiny Lister Jr., God rest his soul, Debo from Friday.
- 12:40For those of us who've seen Friday, hey, we know what a legendary character Debo was.
- 12:46You got on my drink I got on my 40 but here's what makes Debo great for me that his name is now a verb,
- 12:57in the slang community you gotta be a great character for your name to become
- 13:03a verb man you got Debo I'm just saying great character Debo Tiny Lester Jr.
- 13:10That's a guy rest his soul you know one of the funniest things about his character
- 13:13the fact that he used to grab on people's pockets Right?
- 13:17It wasn't asking for the money. It was like, remember how Smokey was looking
- 13:22at him? Y'all some callers. What you mean you don't got no money?
- 13:24Smokey was like grabbing on his pocket.
- 13:29Yeah, Deebo. Deebo was a trip, man. So my next one goes back to The Wire. Marlo Stanfield.
- 13:39Marlo, my favorite character on The Wire. So the closest I can think is.
- 13:45To Gus Frank is his character. Now, the difference between the two,
- 13:50I can hear people right now saying you out your damn mind.
- 13:52The difference between their two characters is Gus was very front facing.
- 13:57He was very polite. He was very, you know, people loved him.
- 14:02But the other side, they're the same. Remember when he told Bodie,
- 14:06I'm being real gentlemanly about it. Yeah.
- 14:10That's how that's how his character was. Marlo was very soft spoken.
- 14:15But think about the characters. I think it was season four when they were sitting
- 14:21out and where he would always sit outside. It was him and Snoop.
- 14:24And I don't know if you know who Jahan Jones is, but it was his.
- 14:28He's real famous online right now doing the comedy skits or whatever. But he's from that area.
- 14:34It was his character. He had the long braids and he was talking about the package
- 14:38and the money. And he told him, short your people. He was like, but they my people.
- 14:42He said, short yourself or two love.
- 14:44Right. Just sit around and wait for Chris and Snoop to come. Right. Right.
- 14:49And all dude could do was be like, I and walk away. Yeah.
- 14:54Hey, you know what I loved about Marlo? His intelligence, man.
- 14:58Yeah, that's that. I love the fact that they the police knew who he was,
- 15:02but they still couldn't pin anything on him.
- 15:05I loved his intelligence. So you know why he's on this list?
- 15:08He's on this list for killing the other person who should have been on this
- 15:13list. Prop Joe was a piece of shit.
- 15:17We loved Prop Joe. Right. Shooting and killing Prop Joe like that.
- 15:22And then just like, yeah, then now what? Yeah.
- 15:26Yeah prop joe was a piece of shit yeah yeah that ain't not like i was saying
- 15:32previously y'all if you haven't seen the wire go check out the wire if you're
- 15:36not familiar with some of these characters we're talking about you will not
- 15:40be disappointed it's on me all right next up on my list,
- 15:46leon the temptations david ruffin nobody come to see you notice say it again
- 15:54bro ain't nobody They come to see you, Otis. The best line ever.
- 16:02If you don't think David Ruffin was a villain, David Ruffin is absolutely the
- 16:09villain of the Temptations.
- 16:12Dude was just off the hook, man.
- 16:15I mean, just not in a comical kind of way, but the stuff he did was actually
- 16:21funny. It's just like, bro, what are you on right now?
- 16:26Talk about one dude who literally tried to mess up the money.
- 16:29Yes. He he went out of his way to try and mess up the money.
- 16:34Had he acted right. I mean, don't even with all of the success,
- 16:39success, the temptations had.
- 16:41If he just acted right, they would have been even larger.
- 16:46Dude was just like an egomaniac. Let this be a lesson to you If you got a group,
- 16:55And one of them is an egomaniac. Get rid of him now.
- 16:59He'll mess up everything or she will mess up everything. The egomaniacs do not
- 17:05know how to play nice with others.
- 17:07That was his problem. It rarely happens and it's rarely successful.
- 17:12Bobby Brown might be the exception. Correct.
- 17:14Correct. And they got rid of Bobby. Yep. Yeah.
- 17:18Quick. Right. Right. Cannot have an egomaniac in your group.
- 17:23All right. It's on you, bro. So my next one, going back to the wire, is Brother Muzon. Okay.
- 17:29And I hate to keep, feel like I'm beating a dead horse. For years,
- 17:33I thought Gus Fring's character was based on Brother Muzon. They're the same person.
- 17:38Interesting. The articulation. Yeah, yeah. The reading, they are the same person.
- 17:43They dress alike. They're the same person.
- 17:45That's probably something we should look into, bro. They're not. I did. Oh, okay.
- 17:50It's not based on it. But as far as being nice and kind but will kill you,
- 17:56they're the same type of people.
- 17:58But yeah, man, for me, Brother Muzon, just the dialogue when he shot cheese.
- 18:04Yeah. What you need to be worried about is what's in the chamber now.
- 18:07Yeah. That fool was like, what'd he say?
- 18:10A hollow point jacketed something of my own creation.
- 18:15Listen, y'all, I love The Wire. But if y'all can't tell from this list,
- 18:20my brother KG loves The Wire. Great.
- 18:26Love it. Love it. Were you done with that, bro? Yeah, yeah. All right. Next up on my list.
- 18:33Tupac Shakur, God rest his soul, Bishop in juice.
- 18:39Yeah, you could have went with Birdie or Bishop on this one. That's true.
- 18:42But yeah, I picked Bishop because, you know, one, this is in the hood movie era.
- 18:50But the dude just like flipped out and started killing all his friends.
- 18:54I'm just like, this is off the hook. Sort of like Debo.
- 18:59I mean Bishop didn't get his own verb but you know we had cats running around
- 19:03the hood talking about I'm Bishop I'm Bishop yeah yeah listen,
- 19:08the movie not so much you can watch it but it's not on my recommend list Riverside but.
- 19:19Tupac's performance in Juice is pretty good I'll give him that the rest of the
- 19:26movie like I said not so much you will see a lot of recognizable faces in it.
- 19:30Oh yeah, for sure. But the plot, the storyline, all of that is kind of whack,
- 19:34but Bishop was a menacing character.
- 19:38And that's why I put him on the list. My favorite line in that movie.
- 19:42You gonna sled down the race with Blade Landers and Alcoholics?
- 19:46You know how much pain that is? Yeah, you know what I like.
- 19:51This ain't about Bishop, but when they was going to the DJ competition And then
- 19:57he talking to Latiba and she like, yeah, where you DJ at? And he's like, uh.
- 20:01Uptown. Yeah, I did some stuff around the way and some parties and stuff.
- 20:05She was like, oh, so you local?
- 20:07It was like, no, no, no. I've been such and such and such and such.
- 20:09And she was like, yeah, you local.
- 20:11Oh, but she snapped on Flex. Oh, she did. Oh, man, she snapped on Flex.
- 20:17She was trying to be nice. Right, right, right.
- 20:20Hate to keep going back there, man, but. Go for it, bro. Chris Partlow.
- 20:25Okay. From The Wire. Okay. An absolute psychopath.
- 20:30Hey, when he beat up. The stepfather. Yes, yes, yes. His nose was like crooked on his face, bro.
- 20:38He beat the F out that dude.
- 20:41The fact that this man could smile at a delivery woman, help her,
- 20:47her say thank you, and then look at him in the face, smile. he smiles at her
- 20:51and he turns and shoots her in the heart.
- 20:55Crazy. Crazy, bro. And then you find out the fool got a wife and two kids.
- 21:00And he was scared of Omar.
- 21:03Oh, and they killed Butchie. Remember they were in that and Snoop was like,
- 21:08well, let's go buy some gifts for your kids.
- 21:10He was throwing that knife. He was like, I'm gonna go around my people with Omar. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 21:16Good character, though. I mean, Marlo wouldn't have been who he was without
- 21:21hell no without that muscle yeah exactly he he needed chris and he needed him
- 21:25to be wild like that also keep keep the streets in line as they say,
- 21:31is on me again yep yeah all right cool i'm gonna go with uh oh man i'm gonna
- 21:37go with the will smith i am legend okay yeah i want i want to hear this all
- 21:41right all right cool so just indulge,
- 21:45I am legend.
- 21:47Why is Will Smith the bad guy?
- 21:50Here's why Will Smith is the bad guy. Forget the whole vampire.
- 21:55Forget all of that. And let's just look at it from a bird's eye view.
- 22:01Will Smith is hunting them.
- 22:05Will Smith is kidnapping them. Are you writing a sentence? God damn it. Will Smith. Yeah.
- 22:14Is experimenting on them. They do not come and mess with him until he kidnap
- 22:22that girl, the head monster.
- 22:25He kidnap her and take her back to the lab until they weren't messing with Will Smith.
- 22:31Right. He was just barricading himself in the house at night.
- 22:34Exactly. To avoid any nonsense. Exactly.
- 22:37He was the one who was chasing and hunting and experimenting and kidnapping them.
- 22:43Will Smith is absolutely the villain in I Am Legend.
- 22:48And that's why he is on his list. None of that shit would be happening if he
- 22:53just stayed in the damn house. You got the dog killed.
- 22:57You almost got, what's her name?
- 22:59The Hispanic actress. Oh. Sonia Braga or Alice Braga. Alice Braga.
- 23:05Yeah, you almost got Alice Braga killed. Queen of the South.
- 23:07Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 23:09Like, bro, you doing too much, man. Leave them monsters alone.
- 23:14They ain't messing with you.
- 23:15Nope. Why are you going out there messing with them every night?
- 23:18Yeah, yeah. Will Smith is absolutely the bad guy on I Am Legend.
- 23:22Absolutely. So...
- 23:26The most despicable person on my list is next. Okay.
- 23:30Kanan Stark from Power. Okay. Now, I'm just going to say one thing he did that
- 23:34made him despicable. He shot and killed his own son.
- 23:40We can move on. Hey, wait, wait, wait.
- 23:44He told him, ghost your daddy, nigga, or something like that.
- 23:47He told some stupid shit like that. He shot and killed him. That was wild, bro.
- 23:52Yeah. Yeah. That was crazy. I ain't even suffocating the old lady in her apartment.
- 24:03Hey, that fight between him and Ghost was pretty black, though.
- 24:07Yeah, I'm like, man, get this movie ass. I like the fight. I didn't like the fact that he survived.
- 24:14That too, because Ghost set him on fire, didn't he? Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
- 24:21You know how I feel about power. after
- 24:24the first three or four seasons i was done yep yep
- 24:27yep all right i'm gonna go with uh sam jackson as steven on jango one chain
- 24:34i don't think any of us need to say anything else except for i wish clarence
- 24:41thomas was a movie character instead of a real person so he could be on this list.
- 24:47But Django, Steven from Django, Clarence Thomas, basically the same character
- 24:53in my book. I count six bullets.
- 24:56Yeah, I count two guns.
- 25:00Hey, tell them, y'all go and get out of here. Not you, Steven. You stay right there.
- 25:10So, I got two more. Candyman. Yes, sir. I don't know how I left that off my list. So...
- 25:18Let me tell you something that haunted me. Well, for one, hell, we grew up.
- 25:22Right around the corner. Shit, 12 miles from Cabrera Green. Cabrera Green, yep.
- 25:28The bathroom murder. Oh, yeah. Man, that just gave me chills saying it. Yeah.
- 25:33Well, first off, why are we watching that movie at that age? I know.
- 25:37Well, no, we were in high school, though. Yeah, but we probably was like 14, 15. No, no, no.
- 25:42I'd say 16, bro. Because you and I were really young in high school.
- 25:46No, we were, Candyman was like 92, though, I want to say.
- 25:51Hell, wasn't we 15? 15, 16, depending on, depending on. Yeah, yeah.
- 25:57But back then, you know, they were real strict about letting them be 18. Oh, for sure.
- 26:01For sure, for sure, for sure. Yeah, that bathroom scene and the fact that he
- 26:05basically made Helen sacrifice herself to save the kid. Yeah. Oh, man.
- 26:10It's a good movie, man. It was. It was a really, really good movie.
- 26:14Yeah, I hate that they ruined it with that remake with Yaya Nam. Oh, yeah.
- 26:19Yeah. Jordan, Jordan Peele. Yeah, that shit was terrible, bro.
- 26:22Yeah, they ruined the classic. You right. That is it. And I'm mad at myself for overlooking that.
- 26:28My last one I got on my list is Crystal Wilson.
- 26:33And you probably going, who the hell is that?
- 26:36That is Ronnie from Players Club.
- 26:42I chose her.
- 26:44Because she was just O.C. in the club. She let old girl get raped and was like, leave her there.
- 26:53You know what I'm saying? The way she turned out.
- 26:57Diamond. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, Ronnie was a trip.
- 27:01All she cared about was that paper. She didn't care about nothing else but that paper.
- 27:06Yeah, that chick was low down.
- 27:09And she got what she deserved at the end. Got her ass whooped.
- 27:13She got that ass straight whooped.
- 27:15So, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Ronnie from Players Club. That's the last one I got on my list.
- 27:20But you got one that I definitely want to hear about.
- 27:23So my last one, and people are going to be like, how the hell did you not realize this?
- 27:29I'm putting a list together. Write this name down.
- 27:31And then thought to myself, man, this dude white.
- 27:38Gary Owen. Thomas Egan from Power.
- 27:45So, there's two things that he did on the show. Well, there's way more.
- 27:50Yeah. When he burned Ruiz up. Yeah.
- 27:54And when he strangled Holly. Yeah.
- 27:56Yeah. Strangling Holly, I was like, I get it with the character.
- 28:01Right. But man, that shit was like, I can't watch this. It was cold blood.
- 28:05Yeah, it was cold blood. Yeah.
- 28:07Yeah, he drove, what, the Cleveland Strangler, didn't he? Yeah,
- 28:10something like that. Yeah, yeah. You know, Tommy has so many bodies on that show, bro.
- 28:14Dude, when he did the house tour and then killed the guy that was selling the
- 28:19house with the baseball bat, I'm like, so you're just going to kill somebody in broad daylight?
- 28:23Tommy had bodies, bro. I'm like, man, this character almost unbelievable how
- 28:27many bodies he had. I'm like, if anybody should have died at the end of the
- 28:32series, it should have been him and not Ghost.
- 28:34Now, he do have some funny ass parts in that scene. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 28:38But yeah, yeah. Tommy, Tommy, Tommy a good. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 28:40Definitely a good villain I'm
- 28:44shocked because I thought for sure you would put quick on this list bro.
- 28:51I thought I'm like, I'm like, I know he gonna put quick on this list.
- 28:55Because, yeah, I thought we've talked about that. We did, which is why I thought
- 28:58you were going to put him on the list. Yeah, he he is. If I had to compare.
- 29:03Getting involved with things that had no business of yours, I put him and I'm
- 29:08not putting it at the same level. Walt White.
- 29:11I'm telling you, man, if you watch Breaking Bad, you'll finish and go,
- 29:14oh, all Walt had to do was go to work, go home.
- 29:17But instead he wanted to be,
- 29:21just starting mess he wanted to be Nino Brown all he had to do was go to work
- 29:26cook and go home to his wife I hear you and what we're talking about with Quick
- 29:33is Eddie Murphy's character from Heart of Nights he caught me off guard for
- 29:37a minute I was like what DJ Quick do.
- 29:40Like I'm a dog oh man now that would be funny bro Yeah.
- 29:48All right, y'all. So that's that's our list of 10 best black villains.
- 29:53I know we probably got more than 10 because, you know, we added a few extras.
- 29:57But if there's anyone on the list that you guys think we overlooked or you think
- 30:01should be on the list, get at us in the comments. You know, let us let us know
- 30:05if you think our list was trash or whatever.
- 30:08No, you get at us in the comments. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 30:11Give us give us your 10 black villains.
- 30:13I know a lot of people probably like, how did y'all leave Killmonger off the list?
- 30:17Because I, so I left Omar off for the same reason I left Kilmonger off. Mm-hmm.
- 30:24Yeah, Omar was killing people, but Omar was also helping people.
- 30:29Think about how much money he was. Now, they didn't show it a lot.
- 30:32How much money he was dispersing back to the neighborhood.
- 30:34No, that's true. People that needed things. He was handing money out. That's true.
- 30:38Now, Killmonger came along and disrupted something as well based on what happened to his father.
- 30:45But he wasn't wrong. That's how I feel about it.
- 30:48That's why I didn't put him on the list because I'm like, man,
- 30:50one can argue that Killmonger was damn near the hero of the movie.
- 30:54Now, was Black Panther right to defend his home? For sure. Absolutely. For sure.
- 31:00Because you came at all this the wrong way. Correct. But you were right. Correct.
- 31:05Correct. No, I feel that. Yeah, I'm like, man, Killmonger kind of like an anti-hero
- 31:09more than he is a villain.
- 31:12So, yeah, that's why I didn't put him on my list. All right,
- 31:14y'all, we're going to transition right into current events.
- 31:19You got a current event you want to go with, brother? I do.
- 31:22And I'm not sure you've seen this yet because we haven't talked about it.
- 31:26Did you see that the Colorado Court of Appeals overturned that negligent homicide
- 31:30conviction on those paramedics that killed Elijah McClain? I did hear about this story. Yeah.
- 31:35So did you hear why? No.
- 31:39So I'm just going to read word for word. They weren't cleared of wrongdoing.
- 31:46The reversal happened because the trial judge gave the jury the wrong legal instructions.
- 31:51The jury judged them as average citizens like you and I, but the appeals court
- 31:58said that they legally had to be judged by the specific standards of medical professionals.
- 32:04So basically, and what I'm reading from this is they would judge the same way
- 32:09a police officer would be judged.
- 32:11My job is this and that. Now, if you're in an emergency room and you have to
- 32:16make a split second decision to save a life that can get you locked up or if
- 32:20the police show up and say, hey, we need to draw blood on this patient.
- 32:23Now, you can't draw blood because you don't have a court order. I'm with you.
- 32:28But did you know in Colorado, up until that term, up until this happened, cops were trained.
- 32:35And I got to find out what the word was that they the determination that they
- 32:41used for this. It was something psychosis.
- 32:46They were taught that. So apparently the cops, when Elijah McClan,
- 32:51you've seen the video, I could only watch it once.
- 32:54They were yelling, he's strong. He's too strong. We can't get a hold of him.
- 32:59They immediately thought that he was in that state and injected him with ketamine.
- 33:05Right. They gave him an overdose. 500 milligrams of ketamine. Yes.
- 33:09Because they said you've seen Elijah McClain. They said he was over 200 pounds.
- 33:14He was scrawny. He was scrawny.
- 33:17He was my weight when I was in high school. Right. So the convictions were overturned.
- 33:22Now, the other stuff didn't get overturned. Yeah.
- 33:25But they only got four years or something.
- 33:28Yeah. Yeah. For this nonsense. So they'll be out. But there will be no more.
- 33:32There will no longer be a criminally negligent homicide hanging over their heads.
- 33:39This is where the justice system fails the people, because this is a technicality.
- 33:48It does not change the fact that that young man is dead because they gave him an overdose.
- 33:56Those facts still remain. So it doesn't matter what you call it.
- 34:02It doesn't change the action. They killed that young man and it was negligent.
- 34:08It was totally their fault. So it's called excited delirium.
- 34:12I don't know how I forgot that. But what's crazy is that.
- 34:17They basically had blind obedience to bad science. Well, how in the hell?
- 34:23Like if you and I were paramedics and somebody set us in the room and told us
- 34:29that this was a scientific thing.
- 34:31Being the type of people we are or hell, even were in our 20s,
- 34:35we would have looked at each other and laughed.
- 34:38You're saying because the cop said that he's too strong
- 34:41he won't stop resisting that you injected
- 34:44him with 500 milligrams of ketamine isn't
- 34:49that the excuse that they always use to
- 34:52abuse black men though that they're too strong isn't
- 34:55that the same thing they said about rodney king why they kept whooping
- 34:58his ass because he was too strong no he was
- 35:01trying to get up and run because y'all was whooping his ass wasn't
- 35:04he was trying to fight y'all back they say that same with
- 35:07uh michael brown that that cop yeah i
- 35:10felt like i was wrestling with hawk hogan really i mean because you don't have
- 35:14any bruises bro if you was wrestling with hawk hogan you would have been slammed
- 35:18on the hood of that that cop right exactly you would have got your ass whipped
- 35:22if you were wrestling with hawk hogan but felt like i was wrestling they always
- 35:26give us that strong he was so strong, I had no choice.
- 35:31Miss me with that, man. So the last thing. The excited delirium,
- 35:35the way that they teach it, is basically like comic book symptoms.
- 35:40This was written in the log.
- 35:43This is what they taught paramedics until this situation.
- 35:48Comic book symptoms. That's how I when I when I was researching it,
- 35:52that's how one article described it. I don't even know what that means, bro.
- 35:57Well, Captain America, Ron jump off a building. Hell, when he when he jumped
- 36:01out the elevator. Yeah. Like those.
- 36:04That's what you're injecting him with ketamine for because you think that he has superhuman.
- 36:09Yeah. I'm like, I don't think their brother would have did that. He's 143 pounds. Right.
- 36:15There are two cops. Right. He's telling you he can't breathe. Right.
- 36:20And you as a paramedic show up. Not only do you inject him with ketamine,
- 36:24you then turn to check on to see how the cops are doing. Correct. As he's dying.
- 36:29Correct. Correct. Yeah.
- 36:34Yeah. Crazy. They don't really care about us.
- 36:38Michael Jackson told us a long time ago. Yep. Yep.
- 36:42I'm going to go lighter, but somewhat serious. You were done with that,
- 36:47right? I'm going to go lighter, but somewhat serious with my current event.
- 36:51Remember the murder was the case soundtrack? Oh, yeah. Remember 21 Jump Street? Absolutely.
- 36:58All right. So where am I going with all of this?
- 37:01As we come into the summer season in America, because I know we have an international
- 37:07listener. Shout out to y'all.
- 37:09As we go into the summer seasons in America.
- 37:12There is going to be more cookouts, more gatherings, more get togethers,
- 37:20more picnics, whatever you want to call it, more reasons for people to congregate.
- 37:26The reason why I brought up that song, because there is a lyric and bet nobody bring a gun.
- 37:35Y'all, learn how to have a good time. We don't need a cookout full of guns.
- 37:42We don't need a cookout full of tough guys.
- 37:45Learn how to have fun and just enjoy yourself.
- 37:52And if you're the type of guy that's saying, listen to this nigga talking that
- 37:56soft ass shit, then you're the type of guy that don't need to come to the cookout.
- 38:01We did the episode, Who's Invited to the Cookout? You
- 38:04knuckleheads who don't know how to act You're not
- 38:08invited to the cookout Don't be that guy Learn
- 38:12how to just chill and have fun Everything
- 38:15isn't a dick swinging contest Where you have to prove how hard you are Improve
- 38:20your masculinity You're toxic Don't be that guy Too many shootings are happening
- 38:29At just regular get-togethers where people are just trying to have a good time.
- 38:35And I'm thinking about the... Prom? No, in Muncie, where they had the little party in Muncie.
- 38:43Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Last weekend, I believe it was, and like two or three
- 38:47people, I think, got shot.
- 38:48Come on, y'all, knock it off. Really? This is what we're doing?
- 38:53We can't get together not one time without some fool shooting up the place over
- 38:59something stupid because nine times out of 10 is something stupid.
- 39:03And it's always some punk that wear 125 pounds with two small pants on with
- 39:08an extended clip in his pocket.
- 39:10Learn how to have fun, man. All right? Learn how to chill, relax,
- 39:16and just enjoy the atmosphere.
- 39:19All right? This summer, the theme is bet nobody bring them up. I'm good.
- 39:26It's enough, y'all. We need to do better.
- 39:30That's my current event. All right, cool. All right, y'all.
- 39:33We're going to transition right into our rant about a random topic.
- 39:39My favorite segment of the show. You got a rock, brother, you want to kick off
- 39:43with? Oh, yeah. All right, let's get it.
- 39:45So this is one I know you'll like because we talk about this stuff quite often.
- 39:49So World Cup's about to start. Mm-hmm.
- 39:52It has been announced that they have this AI-driven method for social media.
- 39:59To monitor over 30,000 offensive keywords and phrases in every single language
- 40:04from around the world. Ain't that about nothing.
- 40:08It hides abusive, racist, and homophobic comments in under two seconds.
- 40:14So, the reason I brought that up is because the first thing I said to myself
- 40:19is, so they're doing this for the World Cup? Right.
- 40:24Why don't they just do it in other places? Right.
- 40:27In other situations. So the reason they do it for the World Cup is because these
- 40:30massive advertisers don't want those advertisements that show up rather Facebook
- 40:35more often than Instagram.
- 40:37Because on Facebook, if you're watching a reel, now you get ads that pop up at the bottom. Okay.
- 40:44So let's say Apple, since I've got an iPad in front of me, advertises on one of those reels.
- 40:51And then the comment section is somebody calling somebody out their name,
- 40:54calling them racial slurs or, you know, anti-Semitic, whatever.
- 40:59They don't want to see that and they could pull their ads. Interesting.
- 41:03So they got punishing the platform, not the individual. Right. OK, right.
- 41:08So they're rolling this out. OK.
- 41:12To stop it. OK. OK. Bro, do you know how often I see white people on Instagram
- 41:18calling people monkeys, gigaboos, porch monkeys?
- 41:27Nothing happens. Right. Except when the people that it happens to post it.
- 41:34I was about to say that. You know the letter up, baby. You can't say nothing about but,
- 41:43There was a girl on TikTok. She had a bunch of hatred for a video she posted.
- 41:49It was months ago because I don't even get on there anymore.
- 41:53She talked about it, even shared what was sent to her in an audio message,
- 41:59her Instagram and her DM, and what was left in the comment section.
- 42:05They took away her TikTok account
- 42:06for racial and for toxic because she was saying, he called me this.
- 42:12He called wow she got flagged so
- 42:15she got flagged for reporting it she
- 42:19reported the page and everything that's crazy
- 42:22but you know they always be able to go to x because uh no elon ain't gonna well
- 42:27that's one of the platforms that's actually engaging really but here's the reason
- 42:31why the advertising yeah because you know you ain't got no damn money right
- 42:35right by the way next week we really need to talk about this IPO,
- 42:41SpaceX IPO bullshit. Let's get it.
- 42:43You already know how I feel about all of that anyway.
- 42:47We thought Trump had the biggest grifts. Yeah. This dude is the biggest grifter
- 42:52in the last 20 years. I'm writing it down.
- 42:56I'm making a note of it right now. Yeah.
- 42:59Yeah. Let's get it. It scans the players' feeds, the team feeds on Facebook,
- 43:04TikTok, YouTube, so on so forth so i just wanted to bring that up because it
- 43:09it just it blows my mind the double standard,
- 43:12where because the world cup yeah coming
- 43:15yeah you can you can uh put those those those tools in effect right but when
- 43:22people report it you tell them well it's free speech or right right right that's
- 43:27this account or that account but then when the world cup with fifa to ask you
- 43:32you're like oh Oh, yeah, sure.
- 43:34I've always had like this...
- 43:38I'm trying to figure out how to word this. Right. My my my my issue with the
- 43:42free speech argument and and I am not against free speech.
- 43:48But at the same time, that free speech doesn't give you the right to insult
- 43:54other racial groups. There's consequences.
- 43:57There's consequences. There are there. There should be consequences for it.
- 44:02Right. I mean, like there there has to be a limit to it.
- 44:06You know, you just can't say I hate this group, that group, whatever, whatever.
- 44:11And then say, I got free speech. I can say what I want to say.
- 44:14Yeah, you you technically you can.
- 44:17But when you get dealt with, don't start crying about a free speech.
- 44:24Well, hey, nothing, nothing's free in this world.
- 44:27That's what they taught us. there was a and it's it's
- 44:30like British comedy is notoriously you know they got some dark humor oh for
- 44:33sure and there's a uh commercial that went around over in Great Britain a couple
- 44:37years ago and they would pull up with a like a U-Haul truck dude to show up
- 44:42to the door knock on the door he got a clipboard and he was like hi are you
- 44:45John Smith yeah I'm John Smith okay awesome so on X,
- 44:49about two weeks ago you said and I'm just gonna throw
- 44:52an American boxer you said well I'm Anthony Joshua rather
- 44:55you said that you could last three
- 44:58minutes with Anthony Joshua I did you
- 45:02write that yeah I wrote it okay cool he'd whistle
- 45:05in the box and Anthony Joshua would get off like he was like you ready and the
- 45:11commercial's like two minutes long yeah and it is hilarious like they had an
- 45:15MMA fighter a boxer some dude that did jujitsu but they brought it to him let me ask you this,
- 45:23so if you if you've got to wear the head gear no.
- 45:28I'm not finished. If you got to wear the headgear and the chest protector that
- 45:34Major League Baseball umpires get to wear, the ones behind home plate, would you do it there?
- 45:40Do what? Fight like Anthony Joshua or Mike Tyson or something for a million dollars? No.
- 45:46Even with the headgear and the chest protector role, you wouldn't do it?
- 45:49So when I was still on, well,
- 45:52when I still followed Ryan Garcia before he started posting
- 45:56crazy stuff he's done a lot of videos where he's
- 45:59notorious for like people to put on the stomach protector because
- 46:01he hits yeah hard yeah and he
- 46:05would hit people in their stomachs man they would last like two punches six
- 46:10foot eight 300 pounds lasting two punches i've seen him hit people one time
- 46:15yeah him on the ground i'm like oh hell no yeah and that's and ryan garcia's
- 46:20what 153 pounds Right, right, right. No, no, no, no.
- 46:24Yeah. I wouldn't do it either. I'm like, man, if I can run the whole time, do I got to engage?
- 46:32If I can run for three minutes, yeah, I'd do it.
- 46:35That fight will end like Martin and Tommy Hearns.
- 46:40Ooh, that's a classic episode. My goodness, that's a classic. For my work.
- 46:46Were you finished with that, by the way? I'm sorry, man. No,
- 46:48you didn't. For my word, I want to talk about perspectives.
- 46:54And I want to be clear when I say this. There are times when we need to stand on business.
- 47:03And I mean, there are times when we need to stand 10 toes down on business.
- 47:09But there are also times where we just need to recognize that it's a different perspective.
- 47:17So what do I mean by that? I'm gonna give you an example. So there's a show
- 47:21called The Avengers, not the Marvel Avengers.
- 47:26This is the British show, The Avengers. And they made a movie in the late 90s, I believe it was.
- 47:32And it starred Uma Thurman, Sean Connery and Ralph Fiennes.
- 47:38And it's an old like British spy show. But there is a scene in the movie.
- 47:44Ralph Fiennes is the protagonist.
- 47:47Sean Connery is the antagonist. And they have a discussion.
- 47:53And Ralph Fiennes character, he's very proper, very posh. He always carried an umbrella.
- 48:00So Sean Connery goes, a man who carries around an umbrella expects the worst. Thank you.
- 48:09Ray Fiennes' response is, a man without an umbrella is unprepared.
- 48:17Both perspectives are correct. There is no right or wrong answer.
- 48:23I see both of their perspectives on that.
- 48:26You know, even though it was meant to be a quip, it's just a different perspective
- 48:32in how one person's outlook is on life versus another person's outlook on life. And it's okay.
- 48:40It's okay. All right. It's okay for people to have different perspectives.
- 48:47All right, guys. It's cool.
- 48:50Everything doesn't have to be so retreating to my corner.
- 48:53And this is where I'm standing. No, no, no, no, no, no. It's not a right or wrong thing.
- 48:59Sometimes it's just a different perspective. So with that being said,
- 49:04I'm encouraging you guys to step back some time and just look at it from a different perspective.
- 49:11It's amazing how much you can learn when you just look at things from a different
- 49:18perspective and not always trying to stand 10 toes down on things.
- 49:24Again, sometimes it's necessary, but sometimes it's not.
- 49:29That's my work. so when you said the
- 49:32avengers and i pulled it up and immediately saw
- 49:35the the poster movie poster i was like
- 49:37i remember this i never watched it but i'm like i remember
- 49:40this now i'm gonna have to check it out it oh
- 49:45man it's not what i thought it
- 49:48was going to be it's it's got the red dragon in it though it does gotta watch
- 49:53the action isn't there i'm gonna put it like that it's it's much more for it
- 50:00to be like a spy thriller almost like a hero type show there isn't much action
- 50:06well she's dressed like Black Widow.
- 50:09You think spoiler alert she's actually playing multiple
- 50:12roles okay but it's it's it's
- 50:15okay i mean if if you get bored watching it
- 50:18bro i told you so you know
- 50:23what's funny is i just clicked on the imdb and
- 50:26it says is the avengers from 1998 worth watching the
- 50:30the last few sentences it is just lacking in any
- 50:33real consistent value it says
- 50:36overall this is not a laughably terrible film it's just
- 50:39lacking yeah yeah it is really just kind
- 50:42of yeah you know i i watched
- 50:45it because i was expecting something else and i'm with those three hell yeah
- 50:49right and and i'm i'm a huge sean connery fan i understand that he's toxic and
- 50:54he did some some some terrible things to women but i admit i'm still a huge
- 50:58sean connery fan you know i i did he just got a spot in my heart Yeah,
- 51:02I like Ralph Fiennes, too.
- 51:04Yeah. Yeah, that dude can act. Yeah. All right, y'all. With that being said,
- 51:08we're going to roll right into five in the blackhand side.
- 51:12And the movie review we chose this week is Belly.
- 51:18Go ahead, my brother. Yeah. Yeah.
- 51:23So, boy, I'm about to piss off so many people.
- 51:27We're about to piss off a lot of people. So, the movie was released in 98.
- 51:33Mm-hmm. Director is Hype Williams.
- 51:35Mm-hmm. Now, obviously, we grew up watching Hype Williams videos. Yep. We loved them.
- 51:39Yep. Main cast of the movie, DMX is Bonds. Yep. Nas is Sincere. Yep.
- 51:44Miss Hicks is Keisha. Yep. Which, we'll get into that.
- 51:48T-On T-Boz Watkins as T-On. Right.
- 51:53Method Man as Shamik and Assange Johnson as Mark. Yep.
- 51:58So I'll just give a brief synopsis for those who haven't seen it. Yeah.
- 52:02I find this synopsis hilarious. Spoiler alerts, by the way.
- 52:06It starts and it says two young successful street criminals from Queens. Yeah.
- 52:11Boy, Tommy and Sincere find themselves at a critical crossroads.
- 52:16Tommy fully embraces the ruthless, violent drug trade, seeking to expand his
- 52:20empire by partnering with the Jamaican cartel to push a new form of heroin.
- 52:24Sincere, on the other hand, begins questioning their destructive lifestyle.
- 52:30Driven by his girlfriend, Tion, Sincere looks to get out of the game,
- 52:34reconnect with his African roots and build a peaceful life for his family.
- 52:39As their past drastically diverge, Tommy hits a wall that forces a profound religious awakening.
- 52:47Was it a religious awakening, bro? Which is still hilarious.
- 52:51While sincere fights to successfully escape to the motherland.
- 52:58What would you like to start? Oh, gosh. Could it be the robbery scene in the club?
- 53:04Let's talk about the good parts. This ought to be quick.
- 53:09I love the club. I love the way they walked in and their eyes glowing. That's a classic entry.
- 53:17Hype Williams, classic Hype Williams. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I love that.
- 53:23I love the fact that the Jamaican Dandada made DMX go to Jamaica to prove he
- 53:30was worthy, that he was going to be a good business partner.
- 53:34And he had him to go kill a chicken man or whatever his name was.
- 53:38You know, I didn't realize until I restarted research, even though I've seen
- 53:41Belly a couple of times, I didn't realize that that was a Louis Rankin. Was it? Yes.
- 53:46I was played by Louis Rankin. I'm like, oh. And then I went and watched the
- 53:51clip. I was like, oh shit, that is him.
- 53:53Oh, wow. Now I'm going to do that. Yeah.
- 53:56But yeah, I love that he made him go prove himself before he considered him
- 54:01a worthy business partner to take on.
- 54:04Oh, man. I...
- 54:07I kind of get what you just read in the synopsis about he has a religious awakening.
- 54:16That trajectory was kind of like, okay, I see it. But the way it was portrayed
- 54:21in the movie was so clumsy.
- 54:24It really was. It really was. It was kind of like, what is he doing?
- 54:30I thought he was going to assassinate dude. And that's his religious awakening.
- 54:36Is he was actually going to assassinate the dude and then dude magically talked
- 54:42him out of it. I'm like, come on, man.
- 54:45But I like his trajectory all in all. I guess I'll give credit to that scene.
- 54:50Although I thought the way it was portrayed, as you said, but the pastor, that was Dr. Chavez Jr.
- 55:01Was it? Yes. Okay. So, you know, lifelong civil rights actor. Yeah, yeah.
- 55:06It was said that Hype Williams picked him specifically for that role in those
- 55:11scenes because he knew that he could just go with it and be able to talk to
- 55:16a young black man who's going through something at the time. Okay. All right.
- 55:23I love the soundtrack.
- 55:29Those are the positives. Now it's time for the negatives.
- 55:35So one of the biggest negatives to me, and I didn't tell you,
- 55:39I left out some things when we were talking about this the other day.
- 55:42So Keisha's character, she had a strict, no on scene sex policy with her.
- 55:49She wasn't against kissing, touching, that type thing.
- 55:56So she knew that there was going to be some type of scene with her in DMX.
- 56:00I told you wrong with this. she wasn't aware it was going to be what it was
- 56:06and apparently they did such a good job at editing,
- 56:11that her family thought that that was her body oh wow
- 56:14because that's how good the body double was yeah so
- 56:18i read a little bit more yes last night when
- 56:21they were talking she was talking about how for years after that
- 56:24she was on every news show interviews
- 56:28that she could think of to let people notice that was
- 56:31not her idea right that sex i i'm gonna
- 56:34be honest until you told me that story i thought it
- 56:36was her now as young man that was the best movie yeah i i told him he thought
- 56:42it was her let's talk about some of the silly characters in this movie got another
- 56:49nugget for you go ahead the silliest character in this movie to me was method man's character,
- 56:57I know he was supposed to be the assassin, but he was so like, hey, Ikey.
- 57:02And I did just all that. Just so over the top. I'm just like,
- 57:05bro, what? Seriously? Is this the hell is Nebraska?
- 57:10And then the way he went out, the old girl, you know, smacked him with the iron.
- 57:15And I'm just like, man, this character, this character served no purpose in
- 57:20the in the in the movie to me. anyway.
- 57:23He ain't the most problematic, but he was the silliest character in the whole movie to me. So...
- 57:32He'll always be Tyron Turner I don't care what he do he'll always be so.
- 57:41When this movie was.
- 57:47When this movie was originally cast Hype Williams promised him buns oh really
- 57:54yeah I didn't know that yeah so when Big Hair Rico the banana,
- 58:01the wig the glasses none
- 58:05of it was in the script really he did
- 58:08all that himself to ruin the movie oh wow yeah
- 58:12i looked up some clips after i saw that he he tell he's like oh yeah he said
- 58:16yeah mad as hell at me he was like he did it to ruin the movie and he said in
- 58:23typical hood movie fashion it ends up being some of people's favorite scenes
- 58:28like walking out there with that uh that string I'm like,
- 58:31bro, lick your lips, man. It's funny. I'm looking at some bananas.
- 58:34Yeah. That fool had that string hanging. He was like, yeah, I don't like that.
- 58:37Then the close up on the camera. Yeah. Yeah. It's like, really,
- 58:40bro? You can't lick your lips, man.
- 58:42The way he went out, that whole scene, it made no sense.
- 58:49The whole Omaha shit period made no sense, bro. Method man kills him,
- 58:56shoots two other people, gets shot out of a window, gets up.
- 59:03Police coming. He takes two shots with a Desert Eagle with no recoil. Right.
- 59:10The cop car just sat there and let them drive off. Right.
- 59:15So the most. I'm trying to describe this the best.
- 59:20I'm trying to because I call Method Man the silliest character.
- 59:24But the most ridiculous character was DMX. Oh, God, yes.
- 59:30He everything he was doing made no sense, bro. Making old boy strip.
- 59:38The whole Omaha. I'm out here in Omaha. I don't care about no police.
- 59:44Yeah. You're riding around with a trunk full of dope. Yeah. I'm running these
- 59:48red lights, nigga. I don't care.
- 59:51Why not? You about to go to jail over something stupid.
- 59:55Why don't you care? When they were in the restaurant, him and them two Y-Ears. Oh.
- 1:00:02And these dudes shoot each other. They're supposed to be homies.
- 1:00:05They shoot each other over absolutely nothing.
- 1:00:07Well, no. The one dude gets shot. But you ain't hard. I am hard.
- 1:00:11That's the silliest argument.
- 1:00:14And BMX just sit there and finish your drink. This dude just got shot.
- 1:00:19In a restaurant. In a restaurant.
- 1:00:21A fancy restaurant. And you're going to sit there and finish your drink.
- 1:00:25I'm like, man, where they do that at?
- 1:00:29So, I would say, well, first, let me say this.
- 1:00:33Nas is, it's very difficult to think who's the worst actor between him and Snoop.
- 1:00:42Yo, I lost my page. No,
- 1:00:52The way he talked about Africa, like it was going to Chicago.
- 1:00:57Right. We want to move to Africa. Where? Right.
- 1:01:00Right. It's got 50 countries, bro.
- 1:01:04Yeah. South Africa. East, West. Yeah. Pretty big continent, cuz.
- 1:01:09And then at the end, man, Africa.
- 1:01:13Right. What? Right.
- 1:01:16Bro when they tried to kill him why did dude run up on him with the gun close
- 1:01:22enough for him to grab him and flip him over no why did az walk away well that
- 1:01:26part too but like bro you know bullets come out the gun bro you know you don't
- 1:01:31need to be right up on him to shoot him.
- 1:01:37My favorite though is when he was talking to the little young dude in uh in
- 1:01:41queensbridge yeah Little kid was sitting outside and he hands him his chain.
- 1:01:46Yeah. The very next scene, he got that chain on.
- 1:01:51The very next scene.
- 1:01:57Same clothes with the chain on.
- 1:02:01Yeah, yeah, yeah. I saw somebody pointed that out to me years ago and I was
- 1:02:06like, hell no, he do got the chain on again. I did like when they came for the big dog, the Jamaican.
- 1:02:15Oh, that that that that scene was hard. I like that.
- 1:02:19I'm the original Jamaican.
- 1:02:21You want to run with me? He was like, yeah, yeah, yeah. That was that was that was a hard scene.
- 1:02:29Yeah, man.
- 1:02:32I don't know, bro. I think we basically done summed up this whole movie.
- 1:02:35I mean, let me say, I'm going to say what I said to you on the phone.
- 1:02:39This is a good and terrible movie at the same time. Yeah.
- 1:02:45Everybody we grew up with seemed to love this movie. Right, right.
- 1:02:48And there are some scenes that are, you know, pretty popular, pretty famous.
- 1:02:54But there's also some scenes where you're just like, this makes no sense.
- 1:02:58And most of them involve Nas or DMX. Correct.
- 1:03:01Correct. It was almost like, what's the most ridiculous thing we can have two hood dudes do? Yeah.
- 1:03:08That's it. Let's do that. And it's just like, no, bro, that's unrealistic.
- 1:03:15Like, no. No. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:03:20Shout out to DMX. May he rest in peace.
- 1:03:23But but but yeah bro he he was
- 1:03:26he was so over the top in this movie
- 1:03:28i mean his character was just crazy silly and
- 1:03:32let's talk about one one more thing how how you gonna show up to the midwest
- 1:03:38dress like y'all right clubbing every day right right we midwest kids right
- 1:03:47think about some of the cats that used to move to Hammond,
- 1:03:50as we were growing up. How over the top they were.
- 1:03:53Right. How they did not fit in. Right. At all. Right. You spot them a mile away. Who that?
- 1:03:59Yep. You spot them a mile away. Immediately. Yep. The only people that was dressing
- 1:04:03like some of these cats was the pimps in Chicago and Detroit.
- 1:04:06Yep. Yep. We was t-shirts, Levi's. Right.
- 1:04:10Dope man Nikes. Right. Trying to be comfortable. Yeah. For the most part. Yeah.
- 1:04:19Yeah, oh man So I guess it's time to rape, Belly Uh,
- 1:04:25Oh, man, I'm going to give it two and a half high fives on the black hand side.
- 1:04:31I'm giving it the peace sign.
- 1:04:35So like I said, this is a good and terrible movie at the same time.
- 1:04:44If you want to just see some ridiculousness, watch this movie. You'll enjoy it.
- 1:04:50But you also go. What?
- 1:04:54Several times throughout the movie your reaction will be what?
- 1:04:58When he was arguing with Keisha when she was in the shower or no he was in the
- 1:05:03shower rather how over the top he was being Keisha grabbed a towel I'm walking.
- 1:05:12Yeah so over the top man like I said two and a half one time you watch this
- 1:05:20movie one time and then you put it away hey Funny.
- 1:05:25Know i got this on vhs upstairs bro and i'm
- 1:05:28not kidding i got belly on vhs
- 1:05:31upstairs i used to have it on dvd i don't i lost
- 1:05:34all that divorce i guess yep yes sir so
- 1:05:37anyway that's r5 on the uh black
- 1:05:40hand side movie review and now it's
- 1:05:43time for the closing monologue my brother
- 1:05:46the floor is yours appreciate it so i
- 1:05:49want to talk about something that happened in south carolina over
- 1:05:52the past week there was a jury there was
- 1:05:55a trial and a jury looked over at a 61 year old
- 1:05:58man named rick chow and they said two words not guilty so for those who don't
- 1:06:07know who rick chow is let me remind you what happened he chased down a 14 year
- 1:06:12old boy mr cyrus belton sorry cyrus Carmack Bell,
- 1:06:17shot him in the back. Why?
- 1:06:20Because child thought Cyrus stole four bottles of water. Four bottles.
- 1:06:27If you're my age, you already know we've been down this exact same road.
- 1:06:32So we're going to flash back to 1991.
- 1:06:35A young girl, 15 years old, walks in the Empire liquor. Her name is LaTosha Harlins.
- 1:06:42She dropped a $1.79 bottle of orange juice in her backpack as she is walking
- 1:06:48to the counter with $2 in her hand.
- 1:06:53The lady, the owner, who she doesn't even deserve to be mentioned by name on
- 1:06:58here, accuses her of stealing. Correct.
- 1:07:00They get into it, and as LaTosha turns around to walk out, she is shot in the back of the head.
- 1:07:06Sure is. Unfortunately, that video is online for people to see.
- 1:07:10It is disturbing and disgusting.
- 1:07:12The jury...
- 1:07:14Their job. They convicted her of manslaughter. But the judge said, nah, you can go home.
- 1:07:21Not a single day behind bars. That was in California, right?
- 1:07:26That was over 30 years ago.
- 1:07:29Two black teenagers, two corner stores, two assumptions over a cheap drink, two lives taken.
- 1:07:37We talk about the history between the black community and Korean business owners.
- 1:07:41We aren't just reading from a textbook.
- 1:07:43We're talking about decades of folks setting up shop in our neighborhoods,
- 1:07:48making a living off of our dollars, but still seeing our kids as a threat.
- 1:07:53Proximity does not equal understanding. The courts keep showing us exactly how
- 1:07:59much the system values are used.
- 1:08:01Until we figure out how to change that math, history is just going to continue to repeat itself.
- 1:08:08Usually I will stop right there But go and This is for the listeners not to
- 1:08:15you Go and look up this case guys It's really messed up,
- 1:08:23You're right There's similarities between the LA case and the South Carolina
- 1:08:27case But I also want to throw in the Trayvon Martin case Into this With this
- 1:08:34with this parallel, the prosecutors.
- 1:08:40If the prosecutor was any good in South Carolina, Chow would still be in jail.
- 1:08:49I think he overreached.
- 1:08:51Just like Trayvon Martin's case. Just like Trayvon Martin's case.
- 1:08:55They overreached. Instead of going for a manslaughter charge,
- 1:09:00they went for the first degree murder charge, which basically means you have to have intent.
- 1:09:07You and I talked about it. Correct. As it was happening. Correct.
- 1:09:10And excuse me, had they just went for a manslaughter charge,
- 1:09:15they would have probably got a conviction. So.
- 1:09:20Again, you're right. The system doesn't care about us. This is how they view us.
- 1:09:25But again, this is why down ballot voting is important.
- 1:09:32Get these janky prosecutors out who do not care about us. And do not just vote.
- 1:09:42I stopped doing this locally a long time ago.
- 1:09:45Stop just voting all Democrat. Find out who they are. Or for Republicans or
- 1:09:49Republican. Because you know what?
- 1:09:52There's some prosecutors out there that identify as Republican that have put
- 1:09:56some of the worst criminals of worst of the worst.
- 1:09:58Right. In prison for the rest of their lives.
- 1:10:01Right. The other thing with that is you can always run as a Democrat and be Republican.
- 1:10:07Sheriff Cowboy used to do it in Wisconsin all
- 1:10:10the time to ensure he ran right he ran as
- 1:10:13a Democrat knowing full well he was a
- 1:10:16Republican yeah alright y'all that concludes this episode of For The Fan Podcast
- 1:10:23episode 33 y'all know what time it is it's homework time if you are new I want
- 1:10:31you to share this with two friends if you are,
