- 1:16Speaker 2: Sorry? I was trying to find my my headphones. What's up?
- 1:21Speaker 2: How are you guys?
- 1:22Speaker 3: We're doing great? Man. My Our first question as as
- 1:26Speaker 3: a bus that we're very curious and knowing with you is, uh,
- 1:30Speaker 3: what's your favorite color?
- 1:33Speaker 2: Blue?
- 1:35Speaker 3: All right? You want to say, go blue? Hey, you
- 1:37Speaker 3: really shut the haters up with that one. Why did
- 1:40Speaker 3: we just we just we just want to say. It's
- 1:42Speaker 3: a segment called get to Know Greg.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Get to Know Greg. We'll get to you next week.
- 1:45Speaker 2: I feel like I'm walking into something.
- 1:46Speaker 3: You're not walking into anything.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Nothing. We just know that we know that your favorite
- 1:50Speaker 1: color is blue.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Now all right, well, I'm glad we settled that. Can
- 1:55Speaker 2: you did your guys? My entire time line during NFL
- 2:01Speaker 2: football games is people talking shit about momentum. By the way,
- 2:07Speaker 2: and I literally smile like I'm now like searching the
- 2:12Speaker 2: word momentum to see how many of them are related
- 2:15Speaker 2: to like our conversations on here. It makes me so
- 2:19Speaker 2: happy to be chirped by the internet and be like,
- 2:23Speaker 2: can't wait till Olsen's on with Buston and we could
- 2:25Speaker 2: talk about all the momentum that Seattle had or like
- 2:28Speaker 2: the rams it was. It is magical moments on the internet.
- 2:32Speaker 1: It is. Did you watch any of the college football?
- 2:34Speaker 1: I know your NFL guy, did you watch Oklahoma Alabama?
- 2:37Speaker 2: I watched Oklahoma Alabama?
- 2:39Speaker 3: Lot shifting?
- 2:43Speaker 1: Was that one toss out to their sideline all of
- 2:46Speaker 1: a sudden momentum shifted.
- 2:48Speaker 2: It's just you know, there was so many, so much
- 2:51Speaker 2: momentum playing out, so much momentum. I guess the part
- 2:56Speaker 2: the part that I just have a hard time and
- 2:57Speaker 2: you got again. I'm very open minded to being taught
- 3:01Speaker 2: and I'll change my ways. It's very hard for me
- 3:05Speaker 2: to believe, like, why when I have all the momentum,
- 3:09Speaker 2: do you guys take it back so easily and then
- 3:11Speaker 2: give it back to me.
- 3:12Speaker 3: It's a fickle thing because it's funny people trying to
- 3:15Speaker 3: acquire momentum. They're waiting for that opportunity to strike to
- 3:18Speaker 3: garner the momentum.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Yeah, yep, that's true. Yeah, that's a great point.
- 3:23Speaker 3: I think.
- 3:24Speaker 1: I think college football, there's much more of an argument
- 3:26Speaker 1: that we could stand up for momentum. The young psyche
- 3:29Speaker 1: of a young man hardly even able to drink momentum
- 3:32Speaker 1: goes a long way.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Who had the momentum in the Miami game?
- 3:37Speaker 1: Neither Neither neither, because I'm playing the game back in
- 3:41Speaker 1: my head, dude, and it's like Miami could have won
- 3:43Speaker 1: that game by multiple scores, maybe.
- 3:47Speaker 3: All those field goals or field goals.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Tony got tripped by his toenail on that he's by
- 3:52Speaker 2: the way, he's awesome, unbelievable on that punt return, and
- 3:55Speaker 2: then we didn't get any points. Uh. Yeah, I would
- 4:00Speaker 2: say that's probably a fair assessment of that game. But Miami, man,
- 4:04Speaker 2: we're back, you guys. We've been saying, we've been saying
- 4:07Speaker 2: that U is back for like ten years. College football
- 4:11Speaker 2: playoff win, going to play Ohio State, I mean, yeah,
- 4:14Speaker 2: go play Ohio State and the Cotton Bowl feels back.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Do you feel like Miami has a chance against Ohio State?
- 4:23Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 4:24Speaker 2: I think you always have a chance, right, I think
- 4:26Speaker 2: at this stage, the teams that are that are all left.
- 4:29Speaker 2: I think the defense is really good. I think our
- 4:31Speaker 2: defensive coordinators a stud you know, obviously I'm a huge
- 4:35Speaker 2: Mario guy just because for I mean for a lot
- 4:37Speaker 2: of reasons. But we go way back. I mean I've
- 4:39Speaker 2: known Mario since I was a freshman in high school.
- 4:42Speaker 2: He coached me, recruited me at multiple I mean, we
- 4:45Speaker 2: have a good friendship and go way back. So obviously
- 4:47Speaker 2: I always root for Miami. I root for Mario specifically,
- 4:50Speaker 2: but uh yeah, man, I think we got a show.
- 4:53Speaker 2: I'm also a big Ryan Day guy. And you know,
- 4:56Speaker 2: here's what I will say about my fandom, and then
- 4:58Speaker 2: we can talk about whatever. It's your show. I I'll
- 5:04Speaker 2: just get all this off my chest. Obviously, I always
- 5:07Speaker 2: pull for Miami. I'm a Miami guy. Met my wife there,
- 5:10Speaker 2: Miami household, my kids love it, so like we're We've
- 5:12Speaker 2: always supported Miami, good, bad, indifferent since I left. But
- 5:17Speaker 2: I'm more and I'm more at all levels. I root
- 5:20Speaker 2: for people like when Mario Christoval was the head coach
- 5:22Speaker 2: at Oregon, I was an Oregon guy, like I love
- 5:26Speaker 2: Ryan Day and right now he's the coach at Ohio State.
- 5:29Speaker 2: I like Ryan as a guy. I've gotten to know
- 5:31Speaker 2: him as a friend, like I want now, I want
- 5:33Speaker 2: Miami to win. Don't get me wrong, but I root
- 5:35Speaker 2: for Ryan Day. If Ryan Day and I woke up
- 5:38Speaker 2: tomorrow and he was the head coach at Michigan, he
- 5:41Speaker 2: was the head coach at Nebraska, I would still root
- 5:44Speaker 2: for those schools. So I like follow people more than
- 5:47Speaker 2: I do schools or teams. But that's just my approach. Yeah,
- 5:52Speaker 2: I like that outside of Miami.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Yeah, obviously, No, I share a lot of that too.
- 5:55Speaker 1: I'll say this, Ryan Day is not being considered for
- 5:58Speaker 1: the Michigan job.
- 5:59Speaker 2: He's not a who is Michigan going to hire? That's
- 6:01Speaker 2: not going great, buddy.
- 6:03Speaker 1: I know, I know, and I'll be honest, like it's
- 6:06Speaker 1: a ship show. It's I think like right now, if
- 6:09Speaker 1: the strategy was wait for debor or dialing or if
- 6:13Speaker 1: you can't get to bor Get dilling Ham, you can't
- 6:16Speaker 1: base a top five programs head coach off of possible
- 6:20Speaker 1: results going one way or the other. It's just a foundationally,
- 6:23Speaker 1: it's a bad move. And I personally believe like if
- 6:26Speaker 1: you are a top five school, you need to always
- 6:29Speaker 1: have that get at a jail free card that, Hey,
- 6:31Speaker 1: our chest move in the background in case something like
- 6:34Speaker 1: what has happened at Michigan, Like if you have a
- 6:36Speaker 1: guy that he loses his job, goes on a mental breakdown,
- 6:39Speaker 1: the whole thing allegedly allegedly you.
- 6:42Speaker 2: That you guys, can you hear me?
- 6:45Speaker 3: Can you hear us?
- 6:46Speaker 2: I lost your sound your.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Baby that he's blaming you talking about Michigan.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Let me just yeah, let me mute this. I can't
- 6:59Speaker 3: no going back.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Where were you saying about Michigan.
- 7:02Speaker 1: It's a shit show. And I think that like strategically,
- 7:05Speaker 1: you can't you can't be Hey, if this happens, then
- 7:08Speaker 1: this kind of result based if you're a top five program.
- 7:12Speaker 1: I'm a little disappointed in the fact that you didn't
- 7:14Speaker 1: have like in your back pocket, like, hey, if something
- 7:16Speaker 1: ever happens, we got this guy, this guy and this guy.
- 7:19Speaker 3: That we know.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Hey, they and they're aware, we're aware back channels the
- 7:23Speaker 1: whole thing. We had an oseron on and he's meeting
- 7:26Speaker 1: guys at a gas station in the middle of Louisiana
- 7:28Speaker 1: knowing that he's gonna be the interim heead coach three
- 7:30Speaker 1: days before it happens, Like that's the kind of that's
- 7:32Speaker 1: the kind of backdoor stuff I need going on at
- 7:34Speaker 1: my school so that we can kind of figure everything out. Now,
- 7:37Speaker 1: clearly there's a lot of bigger issues out there, but
- 7:40Speaker 1: the Boor wins and dilly ham Sin's an extension in
- 7:43Speaker 1: my mind.
- 7:45Speaker 3: The entire Michigan plan just got yeah, yeah, if that is, do.
- 7:47Speaker 2: You really think do you really think Kaitlin de Borr
- 7:50Speaker 2: if they would have lost that game to Okloma, you
- 7:53Speaker 2: really think he'd lead Alabama for Michigan.
- 7:55Speaker 1: So I think, in a vacuum, just that statement is no.
- 7:58Speaker 1: I think if there's a lot of things going on
- 8:00Speaker 1: behind the scenes that made me believe, oh, this is
- 8:04Speaker 1: a real possibility. But I think if you just said, hey,
- 8:09Speaker 1: do you think the head coach of Alabama would leave
- 8:11Speaker 1: to go to Michigan, I think it's clearly the answer
- 8:12Speaker 1: is no. But then you put in a bunch of
- 8:14Speaker 1: factors that people are saying question marks behind the scenes.
- 8:17Speaker 1: It's like, if these three things happen, then you see it.
- 8:20Speaker 1: That's where I start to have some level of belief.
- 8:22Speaker 1: But once they beat Oklahoma, it was like, all right, yeah,
- 8:25Speaker 1: that's that's on life support. That whole thought process if
- 8:28Speaker 1: I'm Michigan, and your two guys are Debor and Dillingham,
- 8:32Speaker 1: and then the rest of the pack, because there's plenty
- 8:34Speaker 1: of good coaches out there. I know Whittingham from Utah,
- 8:37Speaker 1: he's like his name is now, like come in the fold.
- 8:39Speaker 1: He's a fantastic coach with the limited resources. But if
- 8:42Speaker 1: you're a mission like it's these two then everybody else.
- 8:45Speaker 1: And I'm of the mind frame of you need to
- 8:47Speaker 1: stick with the interim head coach, foundationally, find yourself a president,
- 8:51Speaker 1: start to heal from a pr standpoint the mistakes that
- 8:53Speaker 1: Michigan's clearly made in the last few years, and do
- 8:56Speaker 1: it the right way, because if you just get a
- 8:58Speaker 1: guy to get a guy, you're you're a band aid
- 9:00Speaker 1: on a bigger wound and it's just going to be
- 9:03Speaker 1: an issue in twenty eight, twenty nine to thirty and beyond.
- 9:05Speaker 2: The Dillingham thing to me is interesting, right. So he
- 9:08Speaker 2: signs the extension, and obviously I know his roots and
- 9:11Speaker 2: ties to Arizona State, but he then had his press
- 9:14Speaker 2: conference where you know, everyone's excited he's signed an extension,
- 9:17Speaker 2: he's not leaving for another job, and he's like, hey,
- 9:19Speaker 2: I need somebody in Arizona that can cut a twenty
- 9:22Speaker 2: million dollar check, and we didn't cut a twenty million
- 9:24Speaker 2: dollar check. I can't win. I can't compete. So I'm
- 9:26Speaker 2: thinking to myself, like, at Michigan, you could have five
- 9:31Speaker 2: guys right, twenty million dollar checks. I mean, the money
- 9:33Speaker 2: is completely not even the problem at all.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Yeah, no, it's it's in big game.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Bryce Underwood ten million. So if you know money is
- 9:44Speaker 2: an issue, and you know that's what it takes to compete,
- 9:48Speaker 2: why not take the Michigan job. Unless that Michigan job
- 9:51Speaker 2: is just such a disaster and you're just walking into
- 9:54Speaker 2: such a shit storm that it's not the time to
- 9:57Speaker 2: take it, is all I can think of.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Yeah, that is everything you just said. Is the fear
- 10:01Speaker 1: that goes in the frame of mind of a Michigan
- 10:03Speaker 1: fan of Michigan alone is like, is it if you
- 10:05Speaker 1: were really a top five coach? Are you looking at
- 10:08Speaker 1: that situation going let me be the guy that walks
- 10:10Speaker 1: into that because it is It is scary, and for me,
- 10:13Speaker 1: it's like everyone's willing, Like the ad of Michigan says,
- 10:16Speaker 1: I'm willing to open up the check book for the
- 10:18Speaker 1: next head coach of Michigan. And if you're Dillingham and
- 10:20Speaker 1: your heart's truly in Arizona, sign a ten year deal,
- 10:24Speaker 1: spend a decade in an arbor, get us a couple
- 10:25Speaker 1: of natties, and then guess what. The ASU job is
- 10:27Speaker 1: probably gonna be open. That's not gonna be like a
- 10:30Speaker 1: oh we hope so like that has more of a
- 10:32Speaker 1: rolodex of new coaches every few years. Anyway, you need
- 10:37Speaker 1: a guy like Billiam.
- 10:37Speaker 2: You give me interest. See they get man.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Last thing on the on the momentum, last thing on momentum.
- 10:45Speaker 1: I mean, the Panthers take down Tampa Bay and it
- 10:48Speaker 1: was kind of wishy washy until some guy walks out,
- 10:52Speaker 1: starts beating the drum and completely changes the momentum for
- 10:54Speaker 1: the Panthers. What's that about?
- 10:55Speaker 2: That is where a momentum is real. But I banged
- 10:58Speaker 2: the drum and that place came alive, and I gave
- 11:03Speaker 2: just a nice casual. It's not about me, but it
- 11:05Speaker 2: is about me for me. But we are here for me.
- 11:10Speaker 2: I'm not saying who's saying it. People have said this,
- 11:13Speaker 2: that place hasn't been that packed in years. Whether it's
- 11:18Speaker 2: a correlate, you know, causation, correlation to the guy banging
- 11:21Speaker 2: the drum will I guess we'll never know. But all
- 11:25Speaker 2: I know is that place came to life and we
- 11:28Speaker 2: went a huge Division game at home to keep our
- 11:31Speaker 2: playoff hopes alive. I'm not saying it. Some people are
- 11:35Speaker 2: saying it was the drum, So thank you the momentum there.
- 11:38Speaker 2: In that case, the momentum was completely real. The sideline
- 11:41Speaker 2: felt it, the locker room felt it. Yeah, that was real.
- 11:46Speaker 1: It's it's Greg Olson in Carolina, it's fifty cent in Oklahoma.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Both one. Greg Olsen did more for the Panthers than
- 11:55Speaker 1: for Oklahoma. That's what we're getting at.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Exactly when you smacked that drum.
- 11:59Speaker 1: The first time you put a dent in that mother
- 12:01Speaker 1: like that thing, did you think I'm abo to rip
- 12:04Speaker 1: this thing?
- 12:05Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I didn't want to go too hard,
- 12:07Speaker 2: you know. I feel like there's it's like we have
- 12:08Speaker 2: like an epidemic right now in the league of guys
- 12:10Speaker 2: like getting like oblique injuries. I feel like I've never
- 12:13Speaker 2: seen guys hurt their obliques as much as they have
- 12:15Speaker 2: this year. I was worried about that rotation that I
- 12:18Speaker 2: wasn't prept I saw the team Cairo, who's a buddy
- 12:22Speaker 2: of mine who had worked on me for years, and
- 12:24Speaker 2: I was like, dude, I might need you to give
- 12:25Speaker 2: me like some t spine, some lower lumbar and just
- 12:29Speaker 2: like get me moving at halftime, just so I don't
- 12:32Speaker 2: I can go in and be real tight in the turn.
- 12:34Speaker 2: But yeah, I don't want to say it was the
- 12:37Speaker 2: it was the moment of the day, but it certainly
- 12:40Speaker 2: was the moment of the day.
- 12:42Speaker 3: The team needed a spark and they got it.
- 12:44Speaker 1: They need.
- 12:46Speaker 2: I needed the guys to be on the sideline and
- 12:48Speaker 2: be like, guys, I feel something right now. I feel
- 12:51Speaker 2: like I'm so much more motivated to go play. That
- 12:54Speaker 2: dude banging that fucking drum. He did that for me.
- 12:57Speaker 2: I was going to quit. I wasn't really into the game.
- 13:00Speaker 2: But I'm alive now, and uh that was my role.
- 13:04Speaker 3: Yeah, dude, how do you uh, since we're in the NFC,
- 13:07Speaker 3: how do you see the playoff picture shaking up? For
- 13:10Speaker 3: the Panthers. You got Panthers bucks. For the division, you
- 13:14Speaker 3: got Packers Lions. Packers have to lose out and Lions
- 13:17Speaker 3: have to win out to make it in there. But
- 13:20Speaker 3: it's like the Chicago Bears over the weekend, them and
- 13:23Speaker 3: three NFC West teams are now cemented in the NFL.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Players crazy, It's unbelievable. I think the NFL NFC is
- 13:32Speaker 2: really fascinating. I think they're loaded. I think there are
- 13:37Speaker 2: some division winners that are not thrilled to see some
- 13:39Speaker 2: of these wildcard teams. We gotta hope Jordan Love is okay.
- 13:44Speaker 2: You know, obviously Green Bays already, you know, kind of
- 13:47Speaker 2: gotten a couple of big injuries, and obviously Mike get
- 13:49Speaker 2: and all that. So you've got to hope that he's
- 13:51Speaker 2: ready to rock come playoff time, if you know they
- 13:53Speaker 2: make it as a presumably as a wildcard. I still
- 13:57Speaker 2: think Philly is a I've been saying this for so
- 14:00Speaker 2: was like something about Philly that I don't want to
- 14:02Speaker 2: play them. That defense has gotten really good, playing as well,
- 14:06Speaker 2: if not, you know, better than they were last year,
- 14:08Speaker 2: even which is saying a lot that d Lion's coming
- 14:10Speaker 2: to life. Jalen Phillips. What a great trade by Roseman
- 14:13Speaker 2: in the front office, getting him from Miami a couple
- 14:15Speaker 2: of weeks ago. They've been really good up front, taking
- 14:19Speaker 2: the ball away, playing really good defense, and then the
- 14:22Speaker 2: offense just keeps It feels like they just get a
- 14:24Speaker 2: little bit better, a little bit better, and we all
- 14:27Speaker 2: know talent. Talent can pop at any moment. And you
- 14:30Speaker 2: look in that huddle, they got some real dudes. Sounds
- 14:32Speaker 2: like that Lane Johnson's going to be back for this
- 14:34Speaker 2: weekend's game. That's huge. Jalen Carter on defense. So I
- 14:38Speaker 2: still think LA and Seattle are the two top, and
- 14:41Speaker 2: I think Philly's right there. Chicago's a thrill a minute,
- 14:46Speaker 2: whether or not that you know, we'll see how that
- 14:48Speaker 2: race ends. I think that the seven NFC teams, it's
- 14:52Speaker 2: going to be a fascinating to see how it all falls.
- 14:55Speaker 2: And then I think that's gonna be one of the
- 14:57Speaker 2: better NFC playoffs that we've had in years.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm with everything you said, except for that the Eagles.
- 15:04Speaker 1: The last two weeks they played the Commanders and the Raiders,
- 15:06Speaker 1: and I just can't put a whole lot of stock
- 15:09Speaker 1: and then like they are, they clearly look better, but
- 15:11Speaker 1: they also had to come back from a deficit against
- 15:13Speaker 1: the Commanders the Raiders. It's like, you hate it for
- 15:15Speaker 1: those guys, especially guy like Max Crosby, who deserves to
- 15:18Speaker 1: be on a winning team, but it's like they're both
- 15:20Speaker 1: non competitive teams, and the Eagles look great against the
- 15:24Speaker 1: Raiders and the Commanders. It's like, well, you had to
- 15:25Speaker 1: come back from that game and all that. I'm just
- 15:28Speaker 1: I'm hesitant to be supportive of the Eagles right now.
- 15:31Speaker 3: Love love, love some of those.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Players, but it's just like something's not clicking, something, something's.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Not they they might win their first game, like they'll
- 15:43Speaker 3: have a home game, but after that, like they won't
- 15:45Speaker 3: get any farther than the second round.
- 15:47Speaker 1: It's gonna be tough to get through.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Who do you think in the first two rounds? They
- 15:52Speaker 2: can't be right? So let's assume let's look at it.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Let's assume La Seattle will be one. Let's just say
- 15:57Speaker 2: it's Seattle. Let's say Seattle doesn't stub their ho because
- 16:00Speaker 2: Seattle has the Panthers, and then I think they play
- 16:03Speaker 2: the forty nine ers drive that right, ye yeah, okay,
- 16:06Speaker 2: So what's weird is San Francisco controls their own destiny
- 16:11Speaker 2: as does Seattle. So assuming they both, you know, so
- 16:15Speaker 2: san Francisco plays tonight against Indy. Let's say they handle business,
- 16:19Speaker 2: and then who does who does San Francisco play in
- 16:21Speaker 2: week seventeen?
- 16:23Speaker 1: They play the Seahawks, I think or the Rams.
- 16:25Speaker 3: They played Seattle.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Okay, they played I thought they played Seattle the last week.
- 16:29Speaker 2: I thought week eighteen they played Seattle.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Yeah, last last week they played Seattle. Next week they
- 16:34Speaker 3: played the next play the Bears.
- 16:37Speaker 2: It's a big game too.
- 16:38Speaker 3: So that is a big game that man.
- 16:40Speaker 2: They that's because because what would be really interesting is
- 16:43Speaker 2: if Seattle wins. If Seattle wins and San Francisco wins,
- 16:46Speaker 2: and they go into Week eighteen, that's not only for
- 16:49Speaker 2: the division, it's for the number one seed, which is
- 16:53Speaker 2: wild to think about that San Francisco potentially could be
- 16:56Speaker 2: the number one seed and not have to play a
- 16:58Speaker 2: road game. They could go all the way to the
- 17:00Speaker 2: super Bowl and not play a road game. That's pretty remarkable.
- 17:05Speaker 2: But so your question is who My question is who
- 17:08Speaker 2: do you think in the divisional round Philly can't beat.
- 17:13Speaker 1: I don't think they can beat the Seahawks, but.
- 17:16Speaker 2: The Seahawks might be the one seat.
- 17:18Speaker 3: We're saying.
- 17:20Speaker 1: They already beat the Rams. But there was a weird
- 17:22Speaker 1: situation that took place. It was in it was in Philly,
- 17:25Speaker 1: correct when they played Yes, yeah, it was in Philly.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Multiple bit.
- 17:29Speaker 2: I called that game I called that game.
- 17:30Speaker 1: I think the Rams, the Rams will beat them. I
- 17:33Speaker 1: think the forty nine ers the way they're going would
- 17:35Speaker 1: beat them.
- 17:36Speaker 3: It's Rams, forty nine ers in green Bay right now?
- 17:40Speaker 2: Remember so remember so if they I still think there's
- 17:43Speaker 2: a decent shot. We'll see how the NFC North shakes
- 17:46Speaker 2: out and all that. But there's a shot that Philly
- 17:48Speaker 2: could become the two seed, correct, right, so they would
- 17:51Speaker 2: host this seven who could be Chicago? It could be
- 17:55Speaker 2: right now, right now, it's green Bay, green Bay. You
- 17:59Speaker 2: don't think so Philly at home against green.
- 18:02Speaker 3: Bay, Yeah, they could beat him.
- 18:04Speaker 1: I think Philly wins that game. I think Philly. This
- 18:07Speaker 1: is just the injuries, this is yeah. I mean if
- 18:10Speaker 1: Jordan loves not playing, yes, Jordan.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Now let's say they win. Now they play in the
- 18:16Speaker 2: divisional round. They don't have to play the NFC West
- 18:20Speaker 2: champion because that obviously will be the one seed. So
- 18:22Speaker 2: now you're looking at the Bears, the forty nine Ers,
- 18:28Speaker 2: the Rams potentially. Like again, am I saying they're gonna
- 18:31Speaker 2: win the Super Bowl? No, it's just I think the NFC.
- 18:35Speaker 2: You take out Seattle, who I do think is really
- 18:38Speaker 2: good if they're the one seed, you're not playing Seattle
- 18:42Speaker 2: until the NFC champion until the NFC championship. Yeah, any
- 18:47Speaker 2: of those teams for Philly unbeatable.
- 18:50Speaker 3: They're not unbeatable. But again, the Bears went into Philadelphia
- 18:54Speaker 3: and beat them by two score game not too long.
- 19:00Speaker 2: That was the two point. That was the down fifteen
- 19:02Speaker 2: to two point play right, So they went in.
- 19:05Speaker 3: It was a November twenty eighth night, it.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Was think it was it was Black Friday game.
- 19:10Speaker 3: Yeah, they beat them twenty four to fifteen. Yeah. Again,
- 19:13Speaker 3: I my point is they're beatable. They are beatable.
- 19:18Speaker 2: I could make a strong for Philly. I could make
- 19:20Speaker 2: as strong an argument that Philly could win that I
- 19:24Speaker 2: can any of the rest of the team. And that's
- 19:27Speaker 2: my point. I think the NFC playoffs is fascinating because
- 19:30Speaker 2: I genuinely do think I do think Seattle's the best.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Then the Rams are close. I think the rest of
- 19:38Speaker 2: that group two through seven, I could throw them in
- 19:41Speaker 2: a hat and I could make an argument why either
- 19:44Speaker 2: of them could beat them home away. I really do
- 19:47Speaker 2: think all of those teams could potentially go as far
- 19:52Speaker 2: as any of the rest.
- 19:52Speaker 3: Yeah, it's gonna be done for that Eagles team to
- 19:54Speaker 3: beat a Bears team with all that momentum the Bears got.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Right now, momentum of the Bears is real.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Dude, it is. I have so much fun.
- 20:02Speaker 2: They have so much momentum.
- 20:04Speaker 3: Yeah, they do. They have a lot of momentum. If
- 20:06Speaker 3: you watch those post game locker room clips, I love them.
- 20:09Speaker 3: I said a few weeks ago that the Bears were
- 20:11Speaker 3: gonna make the playoffs. Boy was I wrong. But I've
- 20:14Speaker 3: had so much fun watching Ben Johnson in the locker
- 20:16Speaker 3: room with the squad, with the with their little chant
- 20:20Speaker 3: going on, like that's a chant to we're in the beginning.
- 20:22Speaker 3: When they win, it's kind of like, oh, this is corny,
- 20:25Speaker 3: and now the chant is just hey, if you don't
- 20:27Speaker 3: like the chant, like you might have a little sweetness
- 20:29Speaker 3: to you. Yeah, you know what I mean, Like you're
- 20:30Speaker 3: so bought into these post locker room chants, these fourth
- 20:33Speaker 3: quarter comebacks. Everything happening in Chicago right now is it's
- 20:37Speaker 3: it's been fun to watch, and.
- 20:38Speaker 1: It's it's clearly there's always been some sort of not
- 20:40Speaker 1: hit the defense and not very good. They're more opportunistic
- 20:43Speaker 1: the Williams, he throws the ball under sixty percent completion percentage,
- 20:46Speaker 1: but they just win. Yeah, and then Caleb Williams in
- 20:49Speaker 1: overtime throws an absolute bomb and doesn't get crazy, except
- 20:51Speaker 1: he just does maybe the hardest celebration ever by just
- 20:55Speaker 1: dusting the shoulders and putting his hands in his pockets.
- 20:57Speaker 1: It's like, hey, these boys are real. Yeah, hate on
- 21:00Speaker 1: the nails, but you want.
- 21:01Speaker 2: His hands were in his hand warmer before the ball
- 21:03Speaker 2: was caught.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Dad, you can't. You got a juicy up walk off.
- 21:08Speaker 3: It's amazing, amazing, Bears, when the Super Bowl?
- 21:11Speaker 2: Your nails? What's that?
- 21:13Speaker 3: Bears?
- 21:14Speaker 1: When the Super Bowl? Are you painting your fingernails in solidarity? Yeah? Sure, yeah,
- 21:19Speaker 1: I'll do it.
- 21:20Speaker 2: I'll have a Macha, I'll paint my fingernails whatever.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Hey hey, I'll tell you what though, Manchas kind of
- 21:25Speaker 1: go hard, right.
- 21:26Speaker 2: I've tried it. My wife's got My wife got into
- 21:28Speaker 2: Mancha for a while, and I would like, I'm not
- 21:30Speaker 2: a coffee guy. I've never had a cup of coffee.
- 21:32Speaker 2: But I'll crush an espresso martini but I've never but
- 21:35Speaker 2: I've never had a cup of coffee. Like, I don't
- 21:37Speaker 2: start my day with coffee.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a it's it's a weird brag. It's a
- 21:40Speaker 1: weird brag. But also, you've had coffeepresso martini.
- 21:44Speaker 2: I crushed an espresso martini at dinner. We actually made
- 21:47Speaker 2: him at the house last night, just as like a
- 21:48Speaker 2: little nightcap after the game. And yeah, it's just a
- 21:52Speaker 2: weird thing. I do not crave coffee. My wife loves it.
- 21:56Speaker 2: I've sipped it. I've I'll be like, hey, is this
- 21:59Speaker 2: a great cup? Like She's like, this is a great
- 22:01Speaker 2: cup of coffee. I'm all right, I'm gonna try it
- 22:03Speaker 2: and I'll take a sip of like I don't I
- 22:04Speaker 2: don't get it. I don't get it.
- 22:06Speaker 3: Life is your caffeine, bro.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Yeah, man, I'm just I'm ready to talk ball with
- 22:10Speaker 2: the boys. Need a coffee to get up in the
- 22:12Speaker 2: morning to talk ball.
- 22:14Speaker 3: No, a cup of coffee is life. That's wild. As
- 22:17Speaker 3: Taylor just puts down in some cold brew. I love
- 22:20Speaker 3: it the cup right now.
- 22:22Speaker 1: But Macha you like macha?
- 22:23Speaker 2: No, that was my point. I took a sip of
- 22:25Speaker 2: her like when she was in her Macha phase, and uh, yeah,
- 22:29Speaker 2: it just had like a weird I don't know. It
- 22:31Speaker 2: didn't do it for me.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Man, that's a bummer. That's a bummer.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Coffee are you into it? Is it like a daily I'm.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Like, I'm a black coffee guy, and I only waver
- 22:41Speaker 1: from that kind of like during the holiday season when
- 22:43Speaker 1: I'm like, yo, I'm feel a little faster. Let me
- 22:44Speaker 1: get this pumpkin spice, let me go and get this
- 22:46Speaker 1: peppermint whatever. But it's it's pretty much just that my
- 22:49Speaker 1: wife's had a couple of machas and it tastes like
- 22:52Speaker 1: what are those like Japanese desserts that are like a
- 22:57Speaker 1: little rice paper round up but there's ice cream in
- 22:58Speaker 1: the middle. What are the called? Anyway, I'm man just
- 23:02Speaker 1: tasting a green tea one of those onward. Yeah, not
- 23:06Speaker 1: the show. Not the show we're looking at, dude. I mean,
- 23:09Speaker 1: the NFC is exciting, but like you look at the Broncos, Patriots,
- 23:12Speaker 1: and Jags right now, even the Chargers. It's like.
- 23:16Speaker 3: A Hello, is there a hotter team in the NFL
- 23:20Speaker 3: right now than the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 23:22Speaker 1: No sinse.
- 23:23Speaker 3: Last week when it was the Broncos, yeah, then they just.
- 23:26Speaker 2: And the Broncos had all the momentum until last week's
- 23:29Speaker 2: game against Jacksonville. But to your point, I have Jacksonville
- 23:32Speaker 2: this week against Indy in Indy. Could be a sneaky
- 23:37Speaker 2: fun game.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Could be a sneaky fun game. I don't It's hard
- 23:41Speaker 3: for me to buy that the culture going to put
- 23:43Speaker 3: up a fight now that we have a little bit
- 23:45Speaker 3: of film with Philip Rivers and we see what, you know,
- 23:48Speaker 3: how they might try and schematically attack Jacksonville. Jacksonville is hot,
- 23:52Speaker 3: right yeaw bro, they're good.
- 23:54Speaker 1: But to put it uh, for Greg's point, like Jacksonville
- 23:58Speaker 1: the top dog right now, they just beat the top
- 24:01Speaker 1: What a perfect game for them to kind of like
- 24:02Speaker 1: play a little below their level and making a sneaky
- 24:05Speaker 1: fun game to watch.
- 24:06Speaker 3: Yeah, like if they search out the storylines, I think storylines.
- 24:10Speaker 2: I think Indianapolis played their ass off on defense. Last
- 24:13Speaker 2: week in Seattle, had the lead with twenty seconds left.
- 24:18Speaker 2: You know, here we are talking about Seattle is one
- 24:20Speaker 2: of the best teams in the league in Indy with
- 24:22Speaker 2: a quarterback that I hadn't played in four years. Went
- 24:24Speaker 2: to Seattle and took the lead with thirty seconds and
- 24:28Speaker 2: you know, obviously didn't win, but went toe to toe
- 24:30Speaker 2: with them in their place. We'll see how they do
- 24:33Speaker 2: tonight against San Francisco. They play well against San Francisco tonight,
- 24:40Speaker 2: Philip Rivers gets a couple more weeks to get his
- 24:42Speaker 2: feet under him, get back in shape a little bit,
- 24:44Speaker 2: get the juices ripping.
- 24:47Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 24:48Speaker 2: I think when they assigned us that game, I was like, interesting,
- 24:50Speaker 2: like not typically a Fox game, not a game that
- 24:53Speaker 2: I would have anticipated. But as the last week or
- 24:56Speaker 2: two have gone on, especially watching Jacksonville yesterday for the
- 24:59Speaker 2: first time, like really sitting down to watch them in
- 25:01Speaker 2: that late window against Denver, I was like, these guys
- 25:04Speaker 2: are good, Like there's nothing fluky about this. I mean
- 25:07Speaker 2: they won against they beat Denver decisively.
- 25:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm more like going to the Seattle going thinking
- 25:14Speaker 3: about the Colts. Like I know, there's really no like
- 25:17Speaker 3: lookover games in the NFL, but part of me I
- 25:20Speaker 3: buy more that Seattle was looking toward more of their
- 25:24Speaker 3: Thursday night game against the Rams than when they were
- 25:28Speaker 3: you know, having full focus, having full energy into the
- 25:31Speaker 3: game against the Colts. You can get loaded in that trap,
- 25:34Speaker 3: you can get LOLd. I'm not saying like it's intentional
- 25:36Speaker 3: on Seattle's part, but again, they had a massive game
- 25:38Speaker 3: coming up Thursday night, a rematch against the Rams. To
- 25:42Speaker 3: where you're playing the Colts Philip rivers like you don't
- 25:45Speaker 3: have You don't know exactly how they're going to go
- 25:47Speaker 3: about everything offensively with Phil. They kind of snuck up
- 25:50Speaker 3: on them. Then Seattle had to realized in the final
- 25:52Speaker 3: minute of the game, Hey hey guys, we're the Seattle Seahawks.
- 25:54Speaker 3: Let's go down here to some points. Yeah, and get
- 25:56Speaker 3: onto a Thursday game.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Dude, I mean just being on the Seattle that that
- 26:01Speaker 1: game against the Rams is that the best That had
- 26:03Speaker 1: to be the best game of the entire year.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Totally, it was.
- 26:06Speaker 1: We were able to watch that game because we were Dude.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Last Thursday was a ship show for us. But the
- 26:12Speaker 1: two do you think we are?
- 26:15Speaker 2: You guys?
- 26:15Speaker 3: Okay, I didn't. I was in New York doing Christmas
- 26:18Speaker 3: in New York with the family, so I didn't get
- 26:20Speaker 3: to really watch which of the game last last year
- 26:23Speaker 3: for Busting with the.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Boys, I saw the lady took your family picture and
- 26:27Speaker 2: put her finger in the lanes. That was good. You
- 26:31Speaker 2: guys don't think I follow you, guys. I know I am.
- 26:34Speaker 2: I'm all in on busting. I'm all in with the boys.
- 26:37Speaker 2: I appreciate their lives. I like following your kids.
- 26:40Speaker 3: I'm in I love it. Yeah, one thing.
- 26:42Speaker 1: One thing too. We had a whole conversation about Greg
- 26:44Speaker 1: Olsen leaving Fox coming to bustle with the boys last.
- 26:47Speaker 2: Weear like, we know you're about it.
- 26:50Speaker 1: We're about it as well. We'll figure the whole thing out.
- 26:53Speaker 1: But you're watching that game. I'm watching that game to
- 26:56Speaker 1: the first two point conversion happens and ball gets bad
- 26:59Speaker 1: at down, someone just picks it up in the end
- 27:02Speaker 1: zone and itcounts from your vantage point if you are
- 27:05Speaker 1: the referee and you're watching that back, is that a
- 27:08Speaker 1: backwards pass? In your opinion?
- 27:10Speaker 2: It was. I love it because remember La, because remember
- 27:14Speaker 2: sideways is backwards, so different the way the letter of
- 27:19Speaker 2: the law. And they harp this. Mike Pereira sends out
- 27:22Speaker 2: videos to us at Fox like weekly, anywhere between ten
- 27:25Speaker 2: and twenty five minutes of like all the controversial calls,
- 27:29Speaker 2: real nuanced rules, just to try to bake some of
- 27:32Speaker 2: these situations in our head in the event you get
- 27:34Speaker 2: that like random one off. So lateral is backwards, backwards
- 27:38Speaker 2: is backwards, it has to be a forward pass. So
- 27:41Speaker 2: from the time that ball left his hand and hit
- 27:43Speaker 2: the guy in the helmet, it was clearly going backwards.
- 27:48Speaker 2: And it's just such a weird play because the whistle
- 27:52Speaker 2: doesn't matter. There's no such thing as an inadvertent whistle
- 27:55Speaker 2: if it is picked up. A backward pass can be
- 27:59Speaker 2: at advanced by the non throwing player, a fumble cannot
- 28:04Speaker 2: be advanced, or like, there's some real nuance to all
- 28:06Speaker 2: of this. But by the letter of the law, that
- 28:09Speaker 2: is a conversion. I would not be shocked to see
- 28:12Speaker 2: that placed on the table at like the owner's meeting
- 28:17Speaker 2: and say, Okay, no one ever imagined that moment was
- 28:20Speaker 2: going to happen. Let's put some guardrails in place to
- 28:23Speaker 2: make sure you don't get awarded a two point conversion
- 28:26Speaker 2: when you failed the two point conversion. I would not
- 28:29Speaker 2: be shocked to see them try to put some more
- 28:31Speaker 2: like specific rulings for that exact situation, because that sucks.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Like you defend that play. Everyone had given up on
- 28:42Speaker 2: the play and it eventually led to you losing. Kind
- 28:47Speaker 2: of a weird one, but by the letter of the law,
- 28:48Speaker 2: it was legit.
- 28:49Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I mean did the referees, man, but.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Will what do they teach you? Right? What do they
- 28:56Speaker 2: teach you guys on defense? Man?
- 28:58Speaker 3: No, you're right, but I'm thinking of other situations everything. Yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely,
- 29:02Speaker 3: get on the ball, pick up everything.
- 29:04Speaker 1: But we don't have this episode to bring you Lucy.
- 29:06Speaker 1: Let's level up your nicotine routine with Lucy. Go to
- 29:09Speaker 1: Lucy dot Co. Forward slash bus him and use promo
- 29:12Speaker 1: code bust and that's b U S S I N

- 29:16Speaker 1: a thirty day refund policy if you change your mind again,
- 29:20Speaker 1: that's Lucy dot Co. And use code busting to get

- 29:26Speaker 1: brodocks are only for adults of legal age and every
- 29:29Speaker 1: customer is age verified. Warning this proacupates nicotine. Nicotine is
- 29:31Speaker 1: an addictive chemical. Let's get back to the episode.
- 29:34Speaker 3: Did you see the situations with the Lions. Yes, even
- 29:38Speaker 3: when you're watching the Patriots game and the uh Drake
- 29:40Speaker 3: may throw is a deep ball, I forget the.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Booty should have been should have been a flag? Yeah,
- 29:46Speaker 1: nearly as clear as day should have been a flag.
- 29:48Speaker 3: Yeah, Humphrey's just sitting there tackling him like right in
- 29:51Speaker 3: front of like everybody. The announcers are even laughing about it, like, yeah,
- 29:55Speaker 3: that's a miss. Like that's that's a pass interference, right,
- 29:58Speaker 3: Like moments that just at her and we're seeing we
- 30:01Speaker 3: just I feel like it, especially this time of year,
- 30:03Speaker 3: like it sticks out like a sore thumb, and like
- 30:05Speaker 3: when there's a bad call that happens. Would you make
- 30:07Speaker 3: of the lion situations down there? Like when they went
- 30:10Speaker 3: for it was when they went for two, right or
- 30:12Speaker 3: the touchdown the score the little pick touchdown, the little
- 30:15Speaker 3: pick route and then he was even not even a
- 30:17Speaker 3: pick route.
- 30:17Speaker 1: It was a bott let me go body, Jel and
- 30:19Speaker 1: Ramsey throw him into the the rafts for a second,
- 30:22Speaker 1: come back to the ball, not score.
- 30:25Speaker 2: There was two.
- 30:26Speaker 3: Yeah, so there was there's a lot of.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Time with the last play of the game. Is that
- 30:29Speaker 1: What about that they scored?
- 30:31Speaker 2: They scored on a pick route, They ran a little
- 30:34Speaker 2: dart slant.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Yeah, Washington, Darnell Washington, Okay, remember the wrong play, keep.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Going no but no, but that no, but you're right.
- 30:45Speaker 2: But the whole series of events was wild because they're
- 30:48Speaker 2: up five. They kick a very short field goal to
- 30:52Speaker 2: go up eight, saying, okay, at least we gave force
- 30:55Speaker 2: a tie at the very least, and the guy misses it.
- 30:59Speaker 2: They picked this dealers. Kicker misses it, so they remained
- 31:01Speaker 2: down five. So now it's touchdown or bust four down mode,
- 31:05Speaker 2: go to win the game, and they score, But it
- 31:09Speaker 2: was real late, Like the TV, they didn't reference that
- 31:12Speaker 2: there was a flag on the pick route to the
- 31:15Speaker 2: right corner, like they no one said there was a flag.
- 31:17Speaker 2: They're showing the celebration, you know how usually like the
- 31:20Speaker 2: yellow thing that says flag, yeah, pops up. Nothing came
- 31:24Speaker 2: and then like i'd say, a good fifteen seconds later,
- 31:27Speaker 2: the flag was referenced. Then they showed the replay and
- 31:30Speaker 2: you're like, okay, obviously clearly past interference. Then the aman
- 31:33Speaker 2: Rah one that you're talking about, Taylor was insane. I mean,
- 31:38Speaker 2: the amount of moving parts there. I would have liked
- 31:41Speaker 2: to have seen a replay. I don't write like we
- 31:44Speaker 2: all assumed it was going to be some sort of
- 31:46Speaker 2: past interference, but we didn't actually get a replay of
- 31:48Speaker 2: aman Rah punching the guy in the chest at the
- 31:51Speaker 2: goal line Jalen Ramsey until clearly after the officials announcement.
- 31:56Speaker 2: But in those situations, putting all that together is not easy,
- 32:01Speaker 2: right for Romo and Nance to try to decipher all
- 32:04Speaker 2: that in the real moment is not easy. The biggest
- 32:07Speaker 2: part of all of that is offensive penalties don't extend
- 32:11Speaker 2: the game. Right, So even if you don't know, even
- 32:14Speaker 2: if in which I don't blame them for not knowing,
- 32:16Speaker 2: then there was a lateral. If it was clearly a lateral,
- 32:20Speaker 2: it can be advanced by golf because it's under two minutes.
- 32:23Speaker 2: If it was a fumble, it cannot be advanced by
- 32:26Speaker 2: anyone other than the fumbling party.
- 32:29Speaker 1: In that case, Tom and Ross worked down correct.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Inside two minutes.
- 32:34Speaker 1: I thought it was only fourth down. The only person
- 32:36Speaker 1: that can advance the ball is the guy that fumbled.
- 32:40Speaker 2: Pretty sure. Now you have me second guessing myself. We
- 32:45Speaker 2: have to Now you have me second guessing. I'm fairly
- 32:47Speaker 2: certain there's a time element. I think fourth down for sure. Yes,
- 32:52Speaker 2: So in that case it would have been fourth down,
- 32:54Speaker 2: and in the last two minutes, I'm pretty sure there's
- 32:58Speaker 2: a time element. But now you have me second and
- 33:00Speaker 2: guessing myself, so we can fact I hate doing that
- 33:02Speaker 2: fourth down, fourth down for sure. But so like, there
- 33:05Speaker 2: was so many different factors on there, but the only
- 33:08Speaker 2: thing that mattered was offensive penalty. As as time goes
- 33:14Speaker 2: to zero, regardless of the outcome of the play. There
- 33:17Speaker 2: is no untimed down. Untimed downs only for defensive penalties,
- 33:21Speaker 2: which happens very rarely. That off the top of your head,
- 33:25Speaker 2: I'm not sure f in the moment, I would have
- 33:27Speaker 2: known it either.
- 33:28Speaker 1: And the thing that's crazy too, is like, while the
- 33:31Speaker 1: referees are sitting there and talking, you have Steelers players
- 33:34Speaker 1: and Lions players like coming in trying to give their
- 33:36Speaker 1: two cents in the whole thing. And you could tell,
- 33:40Speaker 1: like in their minds from an entertainment standpoint, it might
- 33:42Speaker 1: not be just entertainment, but they're like getting the players
- 33:44Speaker 1: far enough away to where they can have a conversation
- 33:47Speaker 1: without them hearing, to where you don't see like the
- 33:49Speaker 1: Steelers guys cheering or any of that. Exactly true. Ww shit.
- 33:53Speaker 1: And then for the referee, and I my heart goes
- 33:55Speaker 1: out to the Lions and fans made because it's got
- 33:57Speaker 1: to be such a heartbreaking, like getting your hopes up
- 33:59Speaker 1: like that heartbreaking. But for him to start over all
- 34:03Speaker 1: the things being like the result of the plays a
- 34:05Speaker 1: touchdown is the craziest way to start all of that.
- 34:09Speaker 3: And you're just like, and you.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Hear the Lions fans lose their mind, like we just
- 34:13Speaker 1: won and our playoff hopes are alive. We're ripping all
- 34:17Speaker 1: the things, and he goes the result of the play
- 34:19Speaker 1: is a touchdown. But but but that it was like,
- 34:23Speaker 1: oh my god, it was It was true cinema.
- 34:27Speaker 3: It really was fair.
- 34:28Speaker 2: And that's such a tough announcement, right, because you have
- 34:31Speaker 2: to acknowledge it was a touchdown. It was a legal lateral,
- 34:34Speaker 2: but it was an offensive penalty. Yes, time expired, because
- 34:38Speaker 2: if there was one second left, they would have enforced
- 34:40Speaker 2: the offensive pass interference retried fourth down. But because it
- 34:45Speaker 2: went to zero. I mean, there was so many elements
- 34:48Speaker 2: to that play in real time, and then to get
- 34:50Speaker 2: up there and address the crowd, the country and concisely
- 34:55Speaker 2: package it all together for it to just make sense.
- 34:58Speaker 2: I don't envy the position of the officials.
- 35:00Speaker 3: Now, you almost can't start off with the result of
- 35:04Speaker 3: the playoff a touchdown. You almost just have to say,
- 35:07Speaker 3: all right, guys, bear with me for one for sixty seconds,
- 35:12Speaker 3: grab a beer.
- 35:13Speaker 2: Yeah, just hold hold on your ass.
- 35:15Speaker 1: R take a quick five minute break. We'll get back
- 35:17Speaker 1: to you in.
- 35:18Speaker 3: Just a moment. Yeah, yeah, everybody, bear with me, because
- 35:20Speaker 3: I'm gonna say something you're gonna get excited, but then
- 35:22Speaker 3: it's gonna make you very mad, So just let me
- 35:24Speaker 3: finish the sixty seconds.
- 35:25Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, And dude, like Rogers after that just kind
- 35:29Speaker 1: of like sitting there and you can see he's like
- 35:31Speaker 1: reflecting in his postgame press conference about ten years ago
- 35:33Speaker 1: he did X, Y, and Z. He was a part
- 35:35Speaker 1: of a game like this thirteen years ago, except where
- 35:37Speaker 1: we had a bad refs and you just kind of
- 35:39Speaker 1: see like the joy on Rogers's face for the first
- 35:42Speaker 1: time in a long time. It's like, good for you Mansen.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Putting good balls. Bicep tack. Yeah, that kept sticking out
- 35:50Speaker 2: to me. I was like, God, I didn't realize he
- 35:51Speaker 2: was all tatted up, but they kept showing. I don't
- 35:53Speaker 2: know if you wore like a different sleeve or like
- 35:55Speaker 2: he didn't work. I don't know what was going on,
- 35:57Speaker 2: but like we got a hundred shot. We didn't get
- 36:00Speaker 2: the replay sequence, but we got the shot of Rogers's
- 36:03Speaker 2: arm tat like ten times, which was also mind blowing.
- 36:06Speaker 2: I didn't even realize he was tatted up.
- 36:08Speaker 3: Yeah, it was.
- 36:09Speaker 1: It was awesome. Man.
- 36:11Speaker 2: Lot going on that. I mean, you talk about the
- 36:13Speaker 2: three three National Games, Thursday the Bears Packers on Fox,
- 36:19Speaker 2: and then that ending on CBS, like both teams down
- 36:24Speaker 2: ten points plus in the fourth quarter come back. It
- 36:29Speaker 2: was oh no, that was last night's game. But like
- 36:31Speaker 2: then you factor in Sunday's game where they were down
- 36:33Speaker 2: ten New England. Those four games, the drama that ended
- 36:38Speaker 2: those four games is incredible.
- 36:39Speaker 1: Yeah, there was a in that New England game when
- 36:42Speaker 1: they were I think it was eleven. Yeah, they were down,
- 36:44Speaker 1: they were down eleven, they were score and so they're
- 36:47Speaker 1: down by four and I thought I saw a Rabel
- 36:49Speaker 1: put a one up, and I'm think him, ain't no
- 36:52Speaker 1: way they're going for one right now to make it
- 36:55Speaker 1: a four point game, Like, you got to make it
- 36:56Speaker 1: a three points. So I got my phone out, We're
- 36:58Speaker 1: ready to take a photo, not minutes left in the
- 37:00Speaker 1: fourth blah blah blah. And then the end up going
- 37:02Speaker 1: for two. I'm like, all right, what are gonna talk
- 37:03Speaker 1: about this with Greg tomorrow? Because that would have been
- 37:06Speaker 1: a devastating, strategically bad move by them.
- 37:09Speaker 3: Yeah. Bad. I sit there now, and all the games
- 37:12Speaker 3: I watch, I almost question every time do they need
- 37:14Speaker 3: to be going.
- 37:15Speaker 1: For it right here? One hundred percent?
- 37:16Speaker 3: They should go for two. Damn there every time. Yeah, yeah,
- 37:19Speaker 3: they should.
- 37:19Speaker 2: Go amount up two point plays this weekend, dude, we
- 37:23Speaker 2: saw Siriani late in the game. The game was over.
- 37:26Speaker 2: In our game, go up seventeen, Tank Bigsby, I want
- 37:31Speaker 2: to say it was Tank Bigsby scored to go up seventeen.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Instead of kicking the extra point to go up eighteen,
- 37:39Speaker 2: he went for two to go up nineteen. In the moment, right,
- 37:44Speaker 2: I'm factoring on this. I'm like, I guess being up
- 37:46Speaker 2: nineteens better than being up eighteen. I'm like literally doing
- 37:49Speaker 2: this in the commercial break in my brain, and I'm like, well,
- 37:52Speaker 2: cause it's two touchdowns, two two point conversions and a
- 37:55Speaker 2: field goal tie versus two touchdowns, two two point conversions
- 37:59Speaker 2: and a field goal beats you. But there's four minutes
- 38:02Speaker 2: to go in the game, Josh Johnson's at quarterback. Is
- 38:06Speaker 2: there really a likelihood of them even getting three? And
- 38:08Speaker 2: I'm like doing all these mental gymnastics in my head,
- 38:10Speaker 2: and I'm like, you know what, They've missed three field goals.
- 38:14Speaker 2: They're kicking situations a disaster, Like I don't blame him,
- 38:18Speaker 2: just go work on your two point plays. Like that's
- 38:19Speaker 2: literally how I ended up like summarizing it, Yeah, because
- 38:23Speaker 2: to be up nineteen eighteen, I don't know if it
- 38:25Speaker 2: really mattered at that point in the game. It was over,
- 38:27Speaker 2: you know, yeah, what is that fight broke out?
- 38:29Speaker 1: What's your preference on calling a Friday game? Like does
- 38:33Speaker 1: it mess up your routine or you kind of about
- 38:34Speaker 1: it that way? You can go watch ball Saturday Sunday.
- 38:37Speaker 2: It was so my game was Saturday, so I called
- 38:39Speaker 2: it this Saturday. That Saturday. Fox had a doubleheader this year,
- 38:42Speaker 2: which was super cool. So we got two national games.
- 38:46Speaker 2: We did so I think when they started, when they
- 38:48Speaker 2: set the schedule and they told us about this, I
- 38:51Speaker 2: think the assumption was our crew was going to do
- 38:53Speaker 2: Bears Packers, and then the night game Burkhart and Tom
- 38:58Speaker 2: Kevin and Tom were going to do the rematch of
- 39:00Speaker 2: the NFC championship, right Eagles depending Super Bowl champs against
- 39:04Speaker 2: the Commanders and and all that. So obviously, with the
- 39:07Speaker 2: year Washington had, they flipped the game, so we got
- 39:10Speaker 2: Washington Philly. But still really cool. I mean, two national
- 39:13Speaker 2: games on a Saturday obviously went up head to head
- 39:15Speaker 2: against some of the college football playoff games. But I
- 39:18Speaker 2: loved it. It allowed me to go to the Panther game yesterday.
- 39:20Speaker 2: Took my boys to the Panther game. Got to watch them.
- 39:23Speaker 2: Obviously the momentum that we built on banging the drum.
- 39:27Speaker 2: But yeah, it was weird waking up on a Sunday
- 39:29Speaker 2: and just like hanging strolling up to the stadium. Had
- 39:32Speaker 2: a couple of beers during the game, watch it. It
- 39:34Speaker 2: was it was fun.
- 39:35Speaker 3: I love it, dude on the on the situational ball.
- 39:39Speaker 3: The Bears ended up winning the game, but at the
- 39:42Speaker 3: end when they decided to kick the extra point, then
- 39:44Speaker 3: go for two? Are you thinking are you going for two?
- 39:50Speaker 2: You know what, in most instances, I'm going for two
- 39:53Speaker 2: to try to just end the game in the moment,
- 39:56Speaker 2: the moment, I do think you.
- 39:58Speaker 1: Have all the momentum win the game in regular and.
- 40:02Speaker 2: I've said that you want to win the game in regulation.
- 40:05Speaker 2: I think the calculation that they made was the team
- 40:11Speaker 2: we're playings down, their star quarterback, offensively, struggling, haven't really
- 40:17Speaker 2: gotten a lot of things going. So this is where
- 40:19Speaker 2: the analytics world fights back and says, these are not computers,
- 40:23Speaker 2: these are not robots. All of these factors are baked
- 40:27Speaker 2: into the final number that gets spit out. Right, you
- 40:30Speaker 2: go into there's a league wide do you go for it,
- 40:33Speaker 2: don't you? League wide trends? Then each individual team has
- 40:36Speaker 2: to take that data in advance predetermined Okay, how does
- 40:40Speaker 2: this data affect my team based on what we know?
- 40:43Speaker 2: And that's before the game and these little books that
- 40:46Speaker 2: they produce because you're not allowed to have tablets, you're
- 40:48Speaker 2: not allowed to have the technology. We can have it
- 40:51Speaker 2: in the booth as broadcasters. They can't have it in
- 40:53Speaker 2: the booth with the coaching staff. They can't have it
- 40:55Speaker 2: on the sideline. They're not allowed access to computers, phones,
- 40:58Speaker 2: tablets that have like any Internet access because they don't
- 41:01Speaker 2: want them doing these real, real time calculations. So it's
- 41:04Speaker 2: all pre set in these scenario books that they do,
- 41:07Speaker 2: but then you have to apply it to what's actually
- 41:09Speaker 2: going on in the game. Right, So there is an
- 41:11Speaker 2: element of real time information that's being calculated. And I
- 41:15Speaker 2: think the knock on analytics is, well, you say, go
- 41:18Speaker 2: for a quarterback sneak, but what if you're left guards
- 41:20Speaker 2: or what if you're and and the guys who do
- 41:23Speaker 2: support it sit here and says it is being baked in.
- 41:26Speaker 2: All those decisions are being calculated by yes or no.
- 41:29Speaker 2: So I actually do think it was smart to go
- 41:31Speaker 2: to overtime because I think the conversation there was, we're
- 41:37Speaker 2: playing against a backup quarterback. We're playing against you know,
- 41:40Speaker 2: Jordan loves out. I think if Jordan loves in and
- 41:42Speaker 2: that game is a higher scoring, more offensive efficiency, I'm
- 41:47Speaker 2: going for two. I'm ending the game.
- 41:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I can get on board with that.
- 41:52Speaker 3: Yeah, he said a lot. He said a lot to
- 41:56Speaker 3: essentially say, I like our ball club better in ot
- 42:00Speaker 3: because we have momentum going forward. So we're playing against
- 42:03Speaker 3: a backup quarterback.
- 42:04Speaker 2: Well, momentum, the momentum of the game, and the fact
- 42:08Speaker 2: that Jordan Love, one of the best five quarterbacks in
- 42:11Speaker 2: the league, is out of the game in concussion protocol
- 42:14Speaker 2: are two very different conversations.
- 42:17Speaker 3: I don't disagree with you, but you're still you're you're
- 42:20Speaker 3: basing it off your your gut instinct and you're feeling on, Hey,
- 42:23Speaker 3: they don't have Jordan Love. We just drove down a scored.
- 42:27Speaker 2: Like well thirty eight.
- 42:30Speaker 3: Because again, by the book, by analytics, you go for
- 42:32Speaker 3: two and win in regulation, greg are number one. Win
- 42:36Speaker 3: in regulation.
- 42:38Speaker 2: You want to win in regulation. That's every decision that
- 42:42Speaker 2: you make is about increasing your opportunity to win the
- 42:45Speaker 2: game in regulation that is one hundred percent. How all
- 42:48Speaker 2: these the point being, you're not trying to play for
- 42:51Speaker 2: a tie when there's five minutes to go in the
- 42:54Speaker 2: game and you're deciding how many possessions do I have?
- 42:56Speaker 2: How many times am I going to get the ball back?
- 42:58Speaker 2: Do I want to be down nine or seven? All
- 43:00Speaker 2: the things we've covered this year, especially in the last
- 43:02Speaker 2: couple of weeks. Every decision, the final output is about
- 43:06Speaker 2: win probability, not tie probability. Okay, so just understanding that's
- 43:11Speaker 2: the framework of how all these models are built. But
- 43:14Speaker 2: then in the nuance of the game, and this is
- 43:17Speaker 2: where like and again, like the analytics crowd gets kind
- 43:20Speaker 2: of like put like into a locker. Like you guys
- 43:22Speaker 2: are the nerds on the internet. You know, we're football people.
- 43:25Speaker 2: We know more than you that the knock on analytics
- 43:29Speaker 2: is that you're not taking into account what's happening in
- 43:32Speaker 2: a football game. Right. You're not taking into account injuries.
- 43:35Speaker 2: You're not taking into account is the starting quarterback in
- 43:38Speaker 2: or out the center, whatever it is, the score of
- 43:41Speaker 2: the game. Is it a high scoring game? Yeah? I
- 43:43Speaker 2: want to end this shit. I do not want Green
- 43:45Speaker 2: Bay to possess the ball. We haven't stopped them all day.
- 43:48Speaker 2: We talked about that last week in the Buffalo, New
- 43:51Speaker 2: England game, right where it's like, we haven't stopped Josh
- 43:54Speaker 2: Allen in three quarters, Why do I want to give
- 43:56Speaker 2: him the ball back? So all those factors, the analyts, crowd,
- 44:00Speaker 2: if that's what I want to be thrown in, I don't.
- 44:02Speaker 2: That's fine. Those things are being taken into account, but
- 44:07Speaker 2: we're not taking into account how people feel on the
- 44:10Speaker 2: sideline and how good the postgame, the pregame huddle was,
- 44:14Speaker 2: and we just scored two touchdowns, so I'm going to
- 44:17Speaker 2: go for two now, and I didn't score a touchdown,
- 44:18Speaker 2: so I'm not going to go for two. Those are
- 44:21Speaker 2: the arguments that have zero bearing on the actual outcome.
- 44:24Speaker 2: It's not that guys don't feel it, it's just over
- 44:27Speaker 2: long periods of time, the outcomes don't support that right.
- 44:31Speaker 1: And a lot of the coveries we revolve around with situational
- 44:34Speaker 1: two not to happens at the end of the game.
- 44:37Speaker 1: In the Miami Texas A and M game, it was
- 44:40Speaker 1: clear that both defenses were being were killing each other
- 44:44Speaker 1: they were the biggest part of the game in the
- 44:47Speaker 1: office is we're getting nothing going. Miami finds himselves in
- 44:49Speaker 1: a fourth and three to five situation, down on like
- 44:53Speaker 1: the six yard line, going into their end zone. They
- 44:56Speaker 1: elect to kick three. They missed the three, and that's
- 44:59Speaker 1: what youuation. Are you going for the touchdown in that position?
- 45:04Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 45:04Speaker 2: So college. I don't pretend to know the college landscape.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Just use the conversation we're having as these are two
- 45:12Speaker 1: football teams that both defenses are I'll.
- 45:14Speaker 2: Take, I'll take. Yeah, So I'll again this happened in
- 45:16Speaker 2: the NFL game, because I do think the kickoff situation
- 45:19Speaker 2: in the NFL is a significant difference. There's some nuance
- 45:22Speaker 2: about field position, right, Like, you know, I fail going
- 45:27Speaker 2: forward on fourth and three at the three. If I
- 45:29Speaker 2: get it, I get seven. If I go for it
- 45:32Speaker 2: and fail, you got the ball in the minus three.
- 45:34Speaker 2: But if I kick a field goal, let's just call
- 45:37Speaker 2: the average starting field position in the NFL is the
- 45:39Speaker 2: thirty two. So I got three points, but I gave
- 45:42Speaker 2: you twenty nine yards. So there is some There is
- 45:47Speaker 2: some context about the NFL that makes some of these
- 45:49Speaker 2: goal to go situations very different. I'll take my game.
- 45:52Speaker 2: I called on Saturday and I said this in real time.
- 45:55Speaker 2: What it have mattered, I don't know. Opening kickoff of
- 45:57Speaker 2: the game, Philadelphia gets the all. They fumble the opening kickoff.
- 46:02Speaker 2: Washington gets the ball on the I don't know, inside
- 46:05Speaker 2: to thirty. They go down, they go down, they go down.
- 46:08Speaker 2: They have like fourth in goal to two two and
- 46:12Speaker 2: a half ish and uh on third and two, third
- 46:16Speaker 2: and three from they threw an incomplete pass on fourth down.
- 46:19Speaker 2: They kicked the field goal, so they got an opening
- 46:22Speaker 2: kickoff return fumble, got the ball in Philly's field in
- 46:25Speaker 2: Philly side of the field, got the ball inside the
- 46:28Speaker 2: five and kicked the field goal to go up three
- 46:30Speaker 2: to nothing. If you're a Philly running off the field defensively,
- 46:37Speaker 2: let's talk vibes for a minute. How you feel and
- 46:40Speaker 2: will you just got a sudden change. You didn't think
- 46:42Speaker 2: you were starting the game. Next thing you know, you're
- 46:43Speaker 2: on defense, sudden change backed up, All of the motions
- 46:47Speaker 2: are high, all the vibes we talk about and all this,
- 46:50Speaker 2: and you force a field goals at a win or loss, it's.
- 46:52Speaker 3: A massive dub massive win.
- 46:55Speaker 1: Right, You go for it, you go, you go for
- 46:56Speaker 1: the touchdown.
- 46:58Speaker 2: So that's that's an example. So that they kick off
- 47:01Speaker 2: and now instead of the first time, you know, the
- 47:03Speaker 2: first time Jalen Hurts gets you know, behind center in
- 47:06Speaker 2: that game, instead of if he's in the gun, he's
- 47:08Speaker 2: in the end zone. If not, he's under center at
- 47:09Speaker 2: the one. Instead he's got the ball at the you know,
- 47:13Speaker 2: we'll call it the thirty three.
- 47:16Speaker 3: Yeah, no, fair points.
- 47:17Speaker 1: You gotta go for it.
- 47:18Speaker 2: You gotta go for it. The goals get your beat, man.
- 47:21Speaker 2: I mean, look at look at the Rams on Thursday night.
- 47:24Speaker 2: Now they scored thirty points. How many now that one
- 47:27Speaker 2: got taken away on a pass interference? Are on a
- 47:30Speaker 2: legal man downfield? Right? One of the early touchdowns. How
- 47:33Speaker 2: many field goals did LA kick inside the ten yard line?
- 47:39Speaker 1: I don't know the number, but a lot.
- 47:42Speaker 2: I'll look at least too.
- 47:43Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, if you get inside the ten, you got
- 47:46Speaker 1: to start having the conversation with yourself as like, we're
- 47:48Speaker 1: using four downs to get these ten yards. It seems
- 47:51Speaker 1: like that is now I think the new world we
- 47:53Speaker 1: are living in. But if you're going through the game
- 47:56Speaker 1: and both offenses are absolutely crushing it and you are,
- 48:00Speaker 1: are you then thinking maybe we don't go for it here.
- 48:03Speaker 1: I don't know kind I'm losing my train of thought
- 48:06Speaker 1: a little bit because they so nuanced and it does
- 48:08Speaker 1: have so much to do with what's taking place during
- 48:10Speaker 1: the game.
- 48:11Speaker 3: Take the points, man.
- 48:12Speaker 2: I think, first two field goals. First two field goals
- 48:16Speaker 2: that La kicked. They were down seven to nothing. They
- 48:19Speaker 2: kicked the field goal from the six in the first
- 48:22Speaker 2: quarter to go down seven to three. And then their
- 48:24Speaker 2: first possession of the second quarter, they had the ball
- 48:28Speaker 2: and they got down fourth and two at the five,
- 48:34Speaker 2: got a delay a game fourth, and then they went
- 48:38Speaker 2: to fourth and seven at the ten, they kicked the
- 48:40Speaker 2: field goal. Yeah, well, you may had the ball at
- 48:41Speaker 2: the six and they had the ball at the two
- 48:43Speaker 2: and they got six points.
- 48:45Speaker 1: You get the delay a game, you gotta kick the
- 48:46Speaker 1: field goal, but you should be going for in the situation.
- 48:49Speaker 2: Again, I didn't see that part of the game. So
- 48:51Speaker 2: then they try to make them jump. I don't know
- 48:53Speaker 2: exactly what they did, but yeah, no, And listen. The
- 48:57Speaker 2: cool thing that I think about all of this is
- 48:59Speaker 2: and we joke about momentum, and we joke about what's
- 49:02Speaker 2: the best in all this. At the end of the day,
- 49:04Speaker 2: I think the cool thing that comes from a lot
- 49:06Speaker 2: of these conversations we've had all year is more people
- 49:09Speaker 2: are thinking about it, talking about it, discussing it. They
- 49:12Speaker 2: might not agree, they might not all be on the
- 49:14Speaker 2: same side of the argument, and that's fine. But I
- 49:17Speaker 2: think it's pretty cool that people now are watching the
- 49:20Speaker 2: game with those scenarios in their head and watching the
- 49:23Speaker 2: game that they think it's time to chirp all of
- 49:25Speaker 2: us on Twitter. They're thinking about it. It's in their mind,
- 49:28Speaker 2: and maybe a year or two ago, it never even
- 49:31Speaker 2: dawned on people that these are the decisions that the
- 49:33Speaker 2: coaches are wrestling with in real time. We're thinking about
- 49:37Speaker 2: it sitting on the couch just watching as fans. But
- 49:41Speaker 2: this is very much what's going on all week long,
- 49:44Speaker 2: during the game, after the game, in postgame recaps, pregame meetings,
- 49:48Speaker 2: and I think it's cool that now fans and viewers
- 49:52Speaker 2: are going through the same mental exercises of game management
- 49:55Speaker 2: and strategy that the players and the coaches are going through.
- 49:58Speaker 2: I think that's the win of all of this.
- 50:00Speaker 1: If anything's come from this conference reason that we've been
- 50:02Speaker 1: having on busting with the Boys, it's that we are
- 50:04Speaker 1: building strong character in these coaches to understand it's okay
- 50:08Speaker 1: to go to the podium and stand ten toes down
- 50:11Speaker 1: on some of these decisions you're making. Don't take the
- 50:13Speaker 1: scared way out anymore. We are now giving you a
- 50:16Speaker 1: vessel to where you can stand on a podium and go.
- 50:18Speaker 1: I learned this on Busting with the Boys. This is
- 50:21Speaker 1: the correct.
- 50:21Speaker 2: Exactly, yeah, exactly.
- 50:22Speaker 3: I'd love to I love to watch a game with Greg. Yeah,
- 50:26Speaker 3: just look over and be like, you gotta take the
- 50:28Speaker 3: points here.
- 50:28Speaker 1: Because it was truly great, Like, no, you gotta take
- 50:32Speaker 1: the points here.
- 50:32Speaker 3: And then when a Chicago kicks the extra points set
- 50:35Speaker 3: of going for two, I'm like, look at Ben Johnson,
- 50:37Speaker 3: he's just taking the easier press conference yep, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 50:41Speaker 1: I'm thinking when I want to watch a football game,
- 50:43Speaker 1: since we've been doing this on these recaps, it's the
- 50:46Speaker 1: first fifteen plays on both teams in the first quarter,
- 50:49Speaker 1: It's the last two minutes of the half. It's the
- 50:51Speaker 1: first fifteen plays in the second half, and the last
- 50:53Speaker 1: four minutes of the game that are the most exciting
- 50:55Speaker 1: for me to watch. Yeah, Like, there could be multiple
- 50:57Speaker 1: touchdowns going back and forth, but like, when it comes
- 50:59Speaker 1: down to your players have given. This is the proct
- 51:02Speaker 1: players have given you. Now as a coach, it's your
- 51:04Speaker 1: job to put them in the most advantageous spot to
- 51:06Speaker 1: be successful at the end of game, and watching how
- 51:09Speaker 1: different coaches make different decisions, that if this team had
- 51:12Speaker 1: that coach, they would be more successful than the other
- 51:15Speaker 1: way around. Because I've said this before in the bus,
- 51:17Speaker 1: Like as a player, I didn't always look at the
- 51:21Speaker 1: coaching staf and be like, oh, we have great coaches.
- 51:23Speaker 1: That puts us in good position. I just thought we
- 51:25Speaker 1: have good players that we don't have good players. We're
- 51:28Speaker 1: going to figure out the game and it's all on us. Yeah, truly,
- 51:31Speaker 1: it's like these very little, these pockets in the game
- 51:34Speaker 1: that great coaching elevates your team to a whole new
- 51:36Speaker 1: level because then it breeds momentum.
- 51:38Speaker 3: And Greg's right too, like fans are in it. They're involved,
- 51:41Speaker 3: They're they're kind of watching and go through what are
- 51:42Speaker 3: you what are you laughing at it?
- 51:44Speaker 1: That brings that was.
- 51:49Speaker 3: With the fan part being involved and everything else. It's
- 51:52Speaker 3: like I didn't know Greg was coming on today, but
- 51:53Speaker 3: I saw whenever I jumped on Twitter, I saw somebody
- 51:56Speaker 3: at me and I can't wait to hear. Uh you
- 51:59Speaker 3: guys talk about the fourth quarter of the Patriots game,
- 52:01Speaker 3: and here Greg's takes on everything else. So since my
- 52:04Speaker 3: brain was thinking that Greg was gonna come home like sad,
- 52:07Speaker 3: like sad, we don't get to talk about the situation.
- 52:09Speaker 2: Why did you not think I was coming on?
- 52:10Speaker 3: By the way, I don't know why I thought that.
- 52:13Speaker 3: I think Clump might have said that you were possibly
- 52:16Speaker 3: not going to be on today. So I have no clue.
- 52:19Speaker 3: I just again I heard here.
- 52:21Speaker 2: Now, So what do you want to talk What situation
- 52:23Speaker 2: did they want to talk about?
- 52:24Speaker 1: Because the fourth quarter of the Patriots Portriots game, Patrid's
- 52:28Speaker 1: Ravens is like, I think they handled it exactly the
- 52:31Speaker 1: way you would say you should handle it.
- 52:34Speaker 2: Was there any was there like a significant situation that
- 52:37Speaker 2: I missed?
- 52:38Speaker 3: I don't think so, Like maybe it went the way
- 52:40Speaker 3: it should have went. And that fan is just excited
- 52:43Speaker 3: to you know, excited that they're seeing the same things
- 52:45Speaker 3: we are. To your point, Greg, everybody exercises, so they're
- 52:49Speaker 3: just you know, they're giddy, like all the boys are
- 52:51Speaker 3: probably going to talk about the way everything was handled
- 52:53Speaker 3: situationally in the fourth quarter, well.
- 52:55Speaker 2: Fourth quarter went touchdown Ravens touchdown. Patriots punt six play
- 53:01Speaker 2: punt by the Ravens. What was the down and distance
- 53:04Speaker 2: when they punted?
- 53:05Speaker 3: Oh, Greg might have found something. What was the D
- 53:07Speaker 3: and D?
- 53:07Speaker 2: No, it was all right. So it was fourth and
- 53:10Speaker 2: four at midfield.
- 53:14Speaker 1: What oh, they're on the fifty yard line.
- 53:16Speaker 2: Now they took a You guys probably know that they
- 53:19Speaker 2: took a penalty. Mark Andrews false start. Were they were
- 53:27Speaker 2: they lined up to try to snap it. I might
- 53:28Speaker 2: have been in and out of it.
- 53:29Speaker 1: They seem like they were in an ice situation. And
- 53:31Speaker 1: then the the nickel came down and kind of did
- 53:35Speaker 1: one of those but cost the line, and Mark Andrews
- 53:37Speaker 1: along with like the right guard like jumped out of there.
- 53:40Speaker 1: We got him, We got there at.
- 53:42Speaker 2: Oh, So it was like we were going to try
- 53:43Speaker 2: to and they didn't. They were going to take a
- 53:44Speaker 2: delay game anyway.
- 53:46Speaker 1: Probably, Yeah, it seemed like they were to take delay
- 53:47Speaker 1: a game.
- 53:48Speaker 2: So I think fourth and four at the time, they
- 53:50Speaker 2: were up twenty four to twenty one. Fourth and four
- 53:56Speaker 2: at midfield. So let's see. So they punted backup quarterback,
- 54:02Speaker 2: backup quarterback. Yeah, they punted and they pinned New England
- 54:09Speaker 2: at the eleven and New England went eighty nine yards
- 54:12Speaker 2: for a touch.
- 54:13Speaker 1: You gotta go in that situation, you go for it.
- 54:16Speaker 1: Let them shoot you first or sooner so you have
- 54:19Speaker 1: a better opportunity.
- 54:20Speaker 3: Yeah, so you get the ball back because.
- 54:21Speaker 1: Now the Patriots are thinking, all we got to do
- 54:23Speaker 1: is get three here, very able to probably not thinking that,
- 54:25Speaker 1: but like the old thought process of football is like,
- 54:28Speaker 1: we're only down by three, let's.
- 54:30Speaker 2: Case them a field range at least I can always tie.
- 54:32Speaker 2: Don't put the ball on harm's way, don't.
- 54:34Speaker 1: Be yep, a little more con Yeah, because I was
- 54:38Speaker 1: thinking that when they were on the I believe it
- 54:40Speaker 1: was the like the fifty yard line, and they lined
- 54:42Speaker 1: up and it was fourth and four. I'm like, I
- 54:45Speaker 1: wonder if they're actually and go for it. And then
- 54:46Speaker 1: they started doing the hardcounts, all like, okay, they're going
- 54:48Speaker 1: to I state the delay game, give their partners some
- 54:50Speaker 1: more room to kick it. But I was kind of
- 54:52Speaker 1: hoping they would go for it in that situation. It's
- 54:54Speaker 1: just so this conversation would have been like was it
- 54:57Speaker 1: the right move?
- 54:57Speaker 3: Well, it sounds like it was not the right move
- 54:59Speaker 3: to kick to punt the ball.
- 55:02Speaker 2: And then getting a backup quarterback. It's hard. Listen. I'm
- 55:09Speaker 2: not saying any of these decisions are easy, and they're
- 55:10Speaker 2: hard to stand up there and defend. I just always
- 55:14Speaker 2: think in those situations, I would rather be in control
- 55:18Speaker 2: of the outcome in the game than deferring it to
- 55:21Speaker 2: you and my reliance on stopping. I don't know, I
- 55:25Speaker 2: just think you have an opportunity there to really change
- 55:29Speaker 2: the outcome of the game. Under your terms, you get
- 55:32Speaker 2: to call the play, you get to decide the formation,
- 55:35Speaker 2: you get to decide it's something you've worked on all week,
- 55:38Speaker 2: all year for multiple years. It's a big moment play
- 55:41Speaker 2: at top of your play sheet, as opposed to now
- 55:43Speaker 2: I punt it to you, and now I'm reacting to
- 55:45Speaker 2: Drake May I'm on the defensive literally trying to just
- 55:49Speaker 2: react to a two minute mode, hyper aggressive, four down
- 55:52Speaker 2: mode against one of the best quarterbacks in football. My
- 55:57Speaker 2: defense isn't particularly great all season. You're not the Texans,
- 56:01Speaker 2: you're not Seattle other than Thursday when they weren't that good.
- 56:04Speaker 2: But like, I wouldn't say Baltimore's defense has been this
- 56:07Speaker 2: killer all year. So you're like, oh, we're gonna let
- 56:09Speaker 2: our defense win the game. Really why.
- 56:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, if it was the Houston or Seattle or
- 56:17Speaker 1: Den sure you're like, okay, yeah, you feel pretty good
- 56:19Speaker 1: about putting your boys in that position. But yeah, I
- 56:22Speaker 1: like going for it. I'm fully starting to buy into this.
- 56:25Speaker 3: Fired. We found the situation, Yeah that this was excited
- 56:28Speaker 3: for us to talk about.
- 56:30Speaker 2: Because this fan meant chirped us on or not chirped us.
- 56:33Speaker 1: But was it seems yeah about it, that's what you want? Greg, Uh,
- 56:38Speaker 1: this is probably a I don't know if you really
- 56:39Speaker 1: want to answer this question. Like for us with the boys,
- 56:42Speaker 1: I don't know. I hate putting in these positions. What's
- 56:45Speaker 1: your favorite Christmas movie?
- 56:47Speaker 2: Oh? Wow, Home Alone?
- 56:52Speaker 1: The original, fantastic movie. My kids are all about it.
- 56:56Speaker 3: We just watched too over the weekend.
- 56:59Speaker 2: Oh Home Alone, I love elf. Yeah, I know that
- 57:02Speaker 2: doesn't have like the nostalgia of like some of those
- 57:05Speaker 2: like classics, you know, Christmas Vacation, Jemy that that's an
- 57:11Speaker 2: all timer. Yeah yeah, Home Alone though, like that was
- 57:15Speaker 2: my childhood. That was the Christmas movie we watched a
- 57:18Speaker 2: thousand times. That the old man neighbor who's so scary
- 57:21Speaker 2: and then he turns out to be like this loving
- 57:23Speaker 2: man like that was a that was that was just
- 57:27Speaker 2: like my childhood, Like you can't get enough of that.
- 57:31Speaker 1: What's interesting to me watching that movie now having kids
- 57:34Speaker 1: that are old enough to like watch consume, they're not
- 57:36Speaker 1: just involved with like cartoons, Like they're kind of going
- 57:38Speaker 1: through that transformation right now. We're watching Home Alone a
- 57:42Speaker 1: couple of days ago, and I'm always over the conversation
- 57:44Speaker 1: with my kids, like, hey, if you're in a situation,
- 57:46Speaker 1: you're in public and someone's like come with me, and
- 57:49Speaker 1: you say no, you scream as as you can. And
- 57:51Speaker 1: my oldest is kind of like, Dad, this kid handled business. Yeah,
- 57:56Speaker 1: And I had to basically sit them down and be like,
- 57:59Speaker 1: that's a movie. You know what happens to that kid?
- 58:00Speaker 1: If he tries to pull half of those things, he's
- 58:03Speaker 1: he's unalived. At the end of that movie, that's what
- 58:07Speaker 1: takes place because my kids are legit thinking if we
- 58:09Speaker 1: just put some marbles down and tie tie some bancands
- 58:12Speaker 1: with some string, we're gonna fuck some bandits up. And
- 58:14Speaker 1: it's like, guys, no shot, They're gonna go like this,
- 58:18Speaker 1: oh and you're done and you're done.
- 58:22Speaker 2: So the plot of that movie magical. Every kid maybe
- 58:28Speaker 2: a little unrealistic. Yeah, maybe call home. It was not
- 58:33Speaker 2: eighteen fifty. We were not like using the pony express,
- 58:36Speaker 2: like simple call to the landline. How you doing? Uh
- 58:40Speaker 2: calling neighbor? Can you walk down the street? Like apparently
- 58:43Speaker 2: that entire block was just abandoned by people. Everyone on
- 58:48Speaker 2: that shore town everyone left.
- 58:51Speaker 1: Uh, And the kid just doesn't call nine on one
- 58:53Speaker 1: to like the very end when he's finally got his
- 58:55Speaker 1: devious planel set up.
- 58:57Speaker 3: It's hilarious. Did you see the s and they'll skit
- 59:01Speaker 3: on home alone?
- 59:02Speaker 1: I think so. I think it was kind of what
- 59:03Speaker 1: I was just doing, right.
- 59:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 59:06Speaker 1: Well they're walking in the room like, hey, watch out,
- 59:08Speaker 1: there's some marbles on the ground right there, and like.
- 59:11Speaker 3: Like no, no, no, no, no. They did it to where
- 59:13Speaker 3: everybody's basically dying from you know, the the uh oh yeah.
- 59:18Speaker 3: The family comes home and they're like, oh my gosh,
- 59:20Speaker 3: you're here, and he's like, I'm gonna go. I'm gonna
- 59:22Speaker 3: go in the room and get something. Some just fire
- 59:24Speaker 3: sprays the top his head, likes his entire head on fire,
- 59:27Speaker 3: and he's screaming, and then it, uh, it sets off
- 59:31Speaker 3: this domino effect to everything that happens everybody's essentially dying
- 59:34Speaker 3: from all the booby traps that were laying around. Yeah,
- 59:36Speaker 3: but it's it's hilarious. You should check it out, dude.
- 59:39Speaker 1: Okay, first, only if I could put you on a
- 59:41Speaker 1: little bit of game for you and your wife. Two
- 59:43Speaker 1: movies that I would suggest is a family Stone tear jerker,
- 59:47Speaker 1: and then another one is Spirited with Ryan Reynolds and
- 59:50Speaker 1: Will Ferrell.
- 59:51Speaker 3: That's a good newer one.
- 59:53Speaker 1: It's a good newer one. I'm telling you. Christmas Chronicles,
- 59:56Speaker 1: it's more like a more It's definitely an adult holiday.
- 59:59Speaker 3: Movie like Christmas Chronicles.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: Love it.
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: What the hell's Christmas Chronicles?
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: Check it out. It's on that flip all right, all right,
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: all right.
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: Kids used to watch Christmas Chronicles when they were kids.
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: Last thing I'll say it, and they're still kids, they
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: were younger kids.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: Last thing I'll say about home alone. When Kevin's mom
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: finally comes home and she looks from and she walks in,
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: she goes, Merry Christmas, Kevin, and they have a hug,
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: and then the rest of the family walks in and
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: like pretty cool, you made it. And they all just
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: go in the other room and Kevin walks to the
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: window and looks at it, the old man who's hugging,
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: and it's like, this kid's been home alone for three
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: days and you've been you've been raking yourself over the
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: coals and being a terrible mother, and all you can
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: say to him is Merry Christmas, Kevin and then walk
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: in the other room to do whatever. Terrible pandemic and
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: didn't Dad the whole time is like, he'll be all right.
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: It's just fucking wild to me, the way.
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: The dad handles it's so good.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: I have the Chiefs just completely packed it in, like
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: you don't make the playoffs, and it's just.
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: I think Patrick mahomesseys to be in the MVP conversation
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: still still because you should. They are such a dog
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: shit team without Patrick Mahomes.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: Did you see all the players that didn't play? No,
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: it was just fifteen. I was hoping this score would
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: end two to nothing. So I was hoping the same thing.
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: But sad again, it's the reality of this thing. Man,
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: It comes for everyone. It's just some people get to
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: last a little bit longer. Yeah, team, you know, team wise,
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: obviously Mahomes will be back, He'll be fine, But like
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: that thing's going to look a little bit different going forward,
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: and maybe that's a good thing. Maybe this is what
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: they needed to say. You know what, We've stretched this
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: probably longer than any of us imagined. We've been thrown
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: into the garbage a hundred times. We thought we were dead.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: We rebranded with this young defense, kickstarted it a couple
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: of years ago, won the Super Bowl, got back to
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: another Super Bowl, and maybe we just need to reset
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: and start all over again. And there's nothing wrong with that.
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: It's just sad. They were probably watching the last of
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: Travis Kelcey lose to the Titans. Would is like, hey
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: shot the Titan, that's great, but it was just watching
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: as huge jakeson.
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: Greg probably knows. No, this tighten you, brother, that's tight
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: in you family, brotherhood man.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: Thick, Yeah, yeah, Thick. We only have five minutes left.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: Is there anything Greg that you want to talk about?
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: Who do you got in the m v P race
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: right now?
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: Oh? Love that? Right now? I think it's too I
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: think it's Stafford and Drake May agreed.
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: Who do you have as the front runner currently? Drake? Drake?
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: If the season ended right now, God, if you had
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: asked me two weeks ago, I would have said Stafford, right,
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: I mean it's Stafford the reason they lost that. I
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: don't like punishing guys for like, oh they lost to Seattle,
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: and you become like a creature of you become like
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: a creature of the moment. I still think I'm gonna
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: give it to Stafford. I'm probably not as strong in
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: that opinion as I was two three weeks ago. I
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: think what Drake May is doing on a team that
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: preseason had very little expectations, won how many games last year?
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: Four new coach bottom of the barrel for them to
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: not only be better, for not only them to be good,
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: but them to be like potential top seed one or
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: two seed good and be and do that as a
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: young quarterback in this league where we see young guys struggle. Man,
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: He's I can make an argument for both. If I
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: had to vote, I'd vote for Stafford.
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: Yeah. I do think it's it's Razor thing close because again,
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: with Drake May, it's not like he's got Puk DeVante Adams.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: Yeah, he's got a bunch of Yeah.
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: I mean, I can make a great case. So why
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: I would vote for Drake And he's a Charlotte kidd.
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: I've known him for a long time. I mean, he's
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: he's special in all categories and just.
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: To be that see being your two and just observing
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: and watching, he seems completely unfazed in the moments that
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: he gets in, whether it's hey, they're down, you know,
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: down eleven, like just his ability, his poison everything else.
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: Only being uh, second year in the league, I feel
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: like it's just super impressive.
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: Here's a fun exercise. Redraft last year's first round quarterbacks.
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: Okay, give me, give me because you got what you got.
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: Drake May you got you got Drake, You've got Caleb Williams,
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: you got Jane Daniels, you got bow Knicks JJ McCarthy.
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, yeah, Drake's sitting there one right, totally completely.
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: I think is the most fascinating part.
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: If I'm sitting there and I'm drafting, they're all, they're all,
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: they're all on a bench, I.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: Think tough because it's really between bow Knicks Caleb Williams,
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: those are the two.
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: One day.
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: Daniels was the player.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: Injuries injuries, injuries, I know, I know.
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: But you're drafting for the next ten.
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: Years, right right exactly, and so are you gonna take
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: the guy with the higher ceiling, which I think we
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: can agree with Caleb Williams, or take the ultimate pro
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: and maybe a higher floor than bow Knicks. That's kind
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: of how I'm looking at this.
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: So you would take both bon Knicks and Caleb over
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: Jane Daniels.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: You're talking about the next ten years.
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: Yeah, he's your franchise quarterback. Yeah. I think what hurt
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: because if I would have if we would have done
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: this at the end of last season, Jane Daniels I
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: think would have been the unanimous number one.
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: Agreed, agreed.
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: The thing is his injuries, and here's about the next
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: ten years, and it's like it's too eerily similar to
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: me from an RG three standpoint, or a great first
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: year than the second year. It kind of it all
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: fell apart. And if we're talking about ten years longevity, well,
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: I see in by the sample size of fifty, like
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: it's been fifty percent of your career has been injured. Basically,
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: it's not your fault and everything can change. But because
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: of those reasons, I have to go with the safer
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: route and go to bow Nix with Caleb Williams who
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: have stayed healthy.
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: I I was listening to Matt Ryan kind of talk
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: about quarterback development, and he was talking like, you know,
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: for in the first year, like if you were like
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: you strike lightning in the bottle, Like as a quarterback
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: going into your second year, you're kind of just trying
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: to keep your head above water in the first year,
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: and then in the second year, like if you have
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: some success, you could get trapped into Hey, I think
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: I know what's going on more out there, so you
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: could play a little over your skis, which I feel
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: like Jane Daniels could be the case in your two
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: outside of the injury stuff. He's like not until like
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: you know, the third even for really the fourth year
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: is when you feel like you're seeing the field, You're
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: seeing the game from all angles that the coaches want
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: you to see it at. And if I'm looking at
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: all these quarterbacks right now, I feel like I see
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: that go against Jane Daniels for how he kind of
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: developed in the second year when he was on the field,
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: and I feel like the lights starting to click for
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: Caleb Williams to where if you're looking at a ten
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: year quarterback like dude, he I feel like he's so close.
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: So you could talk about his inaccuracies, but the way
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: he continues to sling the rock even when he has
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: a couple bad moments, the way he moves around and
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: have it being paired with Ben Johnson, I feel like
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: he's so close to like breaking through and being like
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: that elite quarterback were on why he was drafted first overall. Yeah,
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: Drake May, I feel like has that again the game's
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: kind of slowing down for him and even bow knicks again,
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: higher floor everything else. But if I'm chasing that higher
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: ceiling of the quarterbacks were kind of picking from to me,
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: go one Drake May, two Caleb Williams than three bow Knicks.
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I could flip two and three at any point.
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: But Ryan had a great breakdown, not like talking about
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: if you're redrafting, but just a great breakdown of like
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: quarterback progression and development over the years and when he
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: felt most confident being on the field that he alluded
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: to it being year five for him.
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I can make an argument when everything you just said, well,
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: I can make the same argument happens the teams that
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: have a quick turnaround. Right you look at Washington, low expectations,
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: you hadn't been good in years, New ownership, You get
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: DQ dan Quinn, you draft Jayden, he's the offensive player
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: that you're a game away from the super Bowl. Oh
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: my god, we are ready to compete. Do you always
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: get a good, real honest perspective? Did you win some
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: games you shouldn't have? Was your record better than what
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: you really are? Right? That goes both directions. Some years
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: your record you're actually better than your record. Some years
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: you're not as good as your record. Right, So there's
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: a lot of I think it's thrown off. A lot
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: of teams rebuild when they have early success and then
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: all of a sudden in year two they get exposed.
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: So I think everything you just said about quarterbacks, you
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: can make the same argument of just overall teams six
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: that you think of the Giants first year day ball,
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: they go to the playoffs, they beat what they beat
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: Minnesota in Minnesota, huge upset, Coach of the year. Now
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: Daniel Jones is getting paid, Saquon wants to get paid
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: these and all of a sudden, did you push back
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: your rebuild? And if you would have went seven and
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: nine and didn't make now I guess seven and ten
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: and you didn't make the playoffs, did you have handled
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: drafts different, would you have handled free agency different? Would
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: you have handled extensions different? But all of a sudden
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: you feel like, oh my god, we're in win now mode.
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: You double down on some guys and it doesn't work.
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: You just push that rebuild off. So it's a pretty
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: fascinating exercise about early success in a turnaround.
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: Yeah, when it's like, did we actually realize that we
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: were just fortunately keeping our head above water throughout the year?
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: Now we think we're getting a little too confident in
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: what the reality of the situation is, right, Yeah.
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: It's interesting. I think I would go Drake May for sure.
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: I think i'd go Caleb two, Jaden three, bo Nix.
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: Fascinating.
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: I don't hate that. The only thing that takes me
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: away from Jayden at this point is the injuries.
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: And the injuries are real. I do think a change
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: in offensive plan. I'm not saying Kingsbury goes. I'd like
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: Kingsbury a lot. I do think there can be a
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: little bit of an evolution into what they're asking Jayden
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: to do. They started doing it with Mariota, granted, different
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: stages of careers and whatnot, but they were starting to
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: do it a little bit better. I actually think that
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: would have served Jane a little bit better. Play action,
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: boot game, under center, run game, not being in the
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: gun on every snap more early throw reads the thing
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: about Jayden that's so impressive last year, and then in
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: his small sample size this year, he is incredibly accurate
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: down the field. His downfield passing game, he is exceptional
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: in those moments, and exceptional end of game fourth quarter
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: last year, best passer rating the fourth quarter, best completion percentages,
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: I mean everything about end of game last year he
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: was unreal. Hence why they won so many close games.
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: I still think I would take Jayden as of right now,
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: but you could probably make an argument for me to
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: at least consider flipping him in bow Knicks. But I
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: love Caleb In Ben Johnson's system. It's not always going
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: to be perfect, it's not always going to be in
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: rhythm and time, but that dude is uniquely talented.
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: Could you imagine when Caleb Williams actually has like all
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: his you know, techniques and everything figured out, and he's
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: throwing above sixty percent completion percentage, like they're going to
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: be incredible On offense, His is elusivity, able to move around,
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: get out of danger, Like I have not seen a
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: quarterback that able to get out of elusiveness, that elusive
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: to get out and make plays down field. It's just
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: it's much so impressive. What's that?
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: I don't like chasing completion percentage?
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: Huh?
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: Personally, I don't like chasing.
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: I don't disagree with that. I don't disagree with that.
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: I think it's completion percentage is one thing, but it's
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: another thing when it's multiple games like he's done it.
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: He's done it nine times this season and they're eight
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: and one. He was over sixty percent in this past game,
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: and it's like, okay, if you're eight and one when
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: your quarterback's not that productive from getting the ball down
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: field and you just bumped that that number up a
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: little bit, like, dude, it's going to be impressive. And
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: it's just I think it's.
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: I think there's like at some point, like a a
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: like a cross section between like average depth of targets
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: and completion percentage, right, because I can make an argument
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: like there's guys that have been seventy five eighty percent
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: completion percentage average depth of targets like three yards, correct,
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: that doesn't do a whole lot for me. I just
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: think of today's modern NFL. You your margin for error
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: is so small. You have to be incredible on third downs,
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: don't turn the ball over, incredible in the red zone,
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: like you just can't. You don't have anything. You can't
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: make any mistakes because you just can't get any yards
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: and chunks. But then I think there's also on the
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: other side where your completion percentage is just so bad
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: that regardless of how far short you're throwing it, your
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: efficiency is just so low. You also can't overcome that.
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: So I do think there's like this X Y axis
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: where they eventually like cross each other and you say, okay,
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: that's the dream, Like you are throwing it downfield, so
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: we are getting that explosiveness, but there is some element
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: of a and see that we can count on playing
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: and play out. We're not just like hoping in prayer
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: and well maybe it's gonna work, but in between that
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: it's a disaster. You don't want that.
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: Either, No, I agree, not not as much in like
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: the completion percentage over overall, Like on PFF, you can
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: go into and see like inaccurate throws like outside of
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: the frame, this that the other which is always like
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: fascinating to see all these little new details and wrinkles
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: that they have in the whole database and analytics part
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: of the game on PF. But I'm with you. I
- 1:13:29Speaker 3: think completion rate is hard now if it's really good.
- 1:13:32Speaker 3: And again it's like Drake May, he'll have a completion rate.
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: He's been throwing it around seventy percent in his like
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: yards per attempt is like what over eight?
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: Yeah, super, he's unique. He's unique because he's doing well. Yeah,
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: here's the last thing I'll sam Caleb. Not to beat
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: a dead horse here, but his inaccuracies sometimes throwing on
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: the run, right, those are high level, highly difficult throws.
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: How many pass attempts This would be a fun study.
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: How many pass attempts has he gotten off that were
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: deemed inaccurate but they came after he avoided a sack.
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: So he avoids a sack, runs around and he misses
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: the guy. He misses DJ Moore in the back of
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: the side, you know, the corner of the end zone
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: sideline that goes down as a pass attempt incomplete pass
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: off target onto the next down. Yeah, but what if
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: he instead of being oh for one with with an
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: inaccurate pass he was oh for oh, because he got sacked,
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: his completion percentage would be better. And he's doing that
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: at such a high volume of snaps. His ability to
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: escape pressure is incredible. Yeah, So if he tipped more
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: sacks and got less inaccurate throws off on the run,
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: hypothetically his completion percentage would go up. The offensive success
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: would go down because he's taking sacks, and would that
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: be better.
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: Yeah, you're absolutely right. That's a good point. That's why
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: you're on the show, Greg.
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: There's always a balance to all of this stuff, right,
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: Like I always say about turnovers, Like the ideal turnover
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: number is not zero, Right, I could take a knee
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: and go for sixty five knees in a row, and
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: we didn't turn the ball over, we didn't take any sacks.
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: So like there's a little bit of nuance. Again. I
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: don't want a team whose goal is to get to
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: get commit zero turnovers. I don't want to fumble, but
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: I don't want my quarterback to fear throwing interceptions.
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, you're probably not going to be that very good.
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: I don't want to throw four, but I certainly don't
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: want to throw if the goal is to throw zero.
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: That would scare me a little bit.
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, being too risk averse. I know that we
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: got we had a boogey.
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: Correct, Yeah, we got a boggy.
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: Great.
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: I appreciate you by that. We'll see christ week. We'll
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: see you next week.
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: Merry Christmas, best friend, Merry Christmas.
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: Voice, Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas. He didn't say what was
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: he ain't come back next week?
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: Back?
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: That's okay, that's okay. We'll need every button next week.
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: I'm gonna grab some nicoteae.
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: Yeah, and I need a peepe Okay, guys, thank you
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: for tuning in.
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: Quick oh sorry one.
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: Yeah, we can wear this the yeah, the NFL recap
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: stuff we can. We can uh, we can sign off on.
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: Busting with the Boys comes out tomorrow. Ty Simpson, the
- 1:16:16Speaker 3: quarterback of Alabama, he joins the show. We also have
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: the locker room, Josh Payton. We're talking all things college football.
