- 0:15Speaker 1: In honor of the final episode of Attack on Titan releasing,
- 0:19Speaker 1: I felt like taking a dive into the what if
- 0:21Speaker 1: story that has been present in my mind and the
- 0:24Speaker 1: minds of everyone since the finale of the third season
- 0:28Speaker 1: of Attack on Titan. As you know, during the battle
- 0:31Speaker 1: to retake Shagandhina, Bertholt Hoover was captured and fed to
- 0:35Speaker 1: Armin Arlert to heal him from his grievous wounds. But
- 0:39Speaker 1: at the same time, Irwin Smith, the commander of the Scouts,
- 0:42Speaker 1: had received his own grievous injury, and considering that they
- 0:46Speaker 1: only had one syringe of Titan serum and only had
- 0:49Speaker 1: one shifter. As both Zeke and Reiner were saved by
- 0:52Speaker 1: Piek before the Scouts could do anything, the characters and
- 0:55Speaker 1: viewers alike, knew that there could only be one survivor.
- 0:59Speaker 1: The choice was left in the hands of Levi, who
- 1:01Speaker 1: at the time was the senior officer that was still
- 1:04Speaker 1: in commission. He had to choose between logic and sentimentality
- 1:08Speaker 1: to choose to save one heroic boy who put everything
- 1:11Speaker 1: on the line to bring them victory, or to choose
- 1:13Speaker 1: the man who had lost his arm, his comrades, and
- 1:16Speaker 1: his humanity, all things he was willing to give up,
- 1:19Speaker 1: to push the limits of the walls, to discover what
- 1:22Speaker 1: was out there, and to make a future where all
- 1:24Speaker 1: within the walls could leave without fear of Titans. In
- 1:27Speaker 1: the end, as Levi had decided to save Irwin, Erwin
- 1:30Speaker 1: quickly pulled his arm away in the middle of a hallucination.
- 1:34Speaker 1: This left Levi believing that it was time to let
- 1:36Speaker 1: the man he had respected for so long have his rest.
- 1:39Speaker 1: To that end, he chose Armin over Irwin and literally
- 1:43Speaker 1: passed the torch from one blonde tactician to another. But
- 1:46Speaker 1: what if Levi hadn't gone with his heart and instead
- 1:49Speaker 1: brought back the devil himself? What would have changed? Well,
- 1:52Speaker 1: walk with me into the paths, and let's look at
- 1:54Speaker 1: a timeline in which Erwin was the one who survived.

- 2:29Speaker 1: reach our goal of passing one hundred thousand followers and
- 2:31Speaker 1: all of our accounts by the end of the year.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Do you see them, Levi, Irwin asked, as he sat
- 2:36Speaker 1: upon a barrel. They're watching us. Levi stood there, and
- 2:40Speaker 1: it was as if all of the specters of all
- 2:42Speaker 1: those who had died were there, those who had died
- 2:44Speaker 1: for nothing, those who had died for a cause, those
- 2:47Speaker 1: who had sacrificed everything under the command of Erwin Smith.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Levi could see them. He saw them every day. He
- 2:54Speaker 1: saw eld Oluo gun there, and he saw Petra. Levi
- 2:58Speaker 1: never showed weakness. He never could, growing up the way
- 3:02Speaker 1: he had in the underground, stealing to survive, starving to
- 3:05Speaker 1: the point that it stunted his growth. Watching his own
- 3:08Speaker 1: mother die in front of him, and then being abandoned
- 3:10Speaker 1: by his uncle, he could never show weakness or cry,
- 3:13Speaker 1: at least not until that day. Levi was a hard
- 3:16Speaker 1: man and he never wore his heart on his sleeve,
- 3:19Speaker 1: but he and Petro were incredibly close. He remembered seeing
- 3:22Speaker 1: his team after any layonheart had stomped through them. That
- 3:25Speaker 1: was the first time in years that any tears had
- 3:27Speaker 1: left his ducts. And today he was seeing them. He
- 3:30Speaker 1: was seeing them all Erwin looked at Levi. You see
- 3:34Speaker 1: them too, don't you? Levi nodded. In coming A voice
- 3:37Speaker 1: cried as stony artillery rained down upon them. In the distance,
- 3:41Speaker 1: the beast Titan was standing surrounded by a wall of
- 3:43Speaker 1: pure Titans, ever at his command, his long lanky arms
- 3:47Speaker 1: reaching down for more stone to throw. Rearing back, his
- 3:50Speaker 1: long arms slung the stones through the airs, the centrifugal
- 3:53Speaker 1: force that only increased with the length of his limbs,
- 3:56Speaker 1: adding to the distance and impact of the stone. Levi
- 3:59Speaker 1: hated these arms. He wanted to dissever them so badly,
- 4:02Speaker 1: but he hated to admit that he couldn't get close.
- 4:05Speaker 1: He wasn't fast enough on his feet to get past
- 4:08Speaker 1: the artillery, and there wasn't anything for his odm gear
- 4:11Speaker 1: to get a hold of except the other Titans, which
- 4:13Speaker 1: couldn't be used because as soon as the beasts saw
- 4:16Speaker 1: he'd be dead. The next volley of stones struck, screams
- 4:19Speaker 1: being heard as one unlucky scout was shredded. What am
- 4:22Speaker 1: I supposed to do, Levi? Irwin asked, Am I really
- 4:25Speaker 1: going to give up on my dream and march those
- 4:27Speaker 1: innocent men and women into the gates of Hell? I
- 4:30Speaker 1: don't know if I can do this, he looked up.
- 4:32Speaker 1: LEVI order me to do it. Give me the order.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Levi took a deep breath. He had seen Irwin make
- 4:38Speaker 1: hard decisions before, but never had he ever seen the
- 4:41Speaker 1: man's heart so heavy. This is my order, LEVI said,
- 4:44Speaker 1: I order you to give up on your dreams and
- 4:46Speaker 1: march valiantly into the gates of Hell. And that's exactly
- 4:49Speaker 1: what they would do. The look on their faces, LEVI
- 4:52Speaker 1: could never forget it, the expressions they made when they
- 4:55Speaker 1: were told the plan. It was suicide and they knew it.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Many of them even puked on the spot, but Erwin's
- 5:01Speaker 1: command remained. Getting atop their horses, he pointed forward and
- 5:04Speaker 1: commanded them to range. Rage my soldiers, he shouted, as
- 5:08Speaker 1: they rushed headlong into damnation, their horses galloping at full speed,
- 5:13Speaker 1: their voices crying out, their arms pushed forward, firing through
- 5:16Speaker 1: the air their smoke signals. Zeke was shocked at this.
- 5:20Speaker 1: What kind of plan is this, he wondered, who could
- 5:22Speaker 1: issue such an order? Looking to his left and right,
- 5:25Speaker 1: he realized that maybe he and Erwin were more alike
- 5:28Speaker 1: than at first glance. It seemed that there were two
- 5:30Speaker 1: beasts of war on the battlefield today. He would not
- 5:33Speaker 1: take away Erwin's honor. He would offer him exactly what
- 5:36Speaker 1: he deserved, a glorious death. As the smoke signals landed
- 5:39Speaker 1: on the field, the entire area was filled with green gas,
- 5:43Speaker 1: obviously meant to distort his vision. But this would not work.
- 5:46Speaker 1: The smoke wasn't thick enough. Zeke pulled his arm back
- 5:49Speaker 1: once more and flung boulders at them, like rats running
- 5:52Speaker 1: toward a shotgun. Many were blown off their horses, yet
- 5:55Speaker 1: they charged further. The area was filled with a new gas,
- 5:58Speaker 1: a red one, the mist of blood. Zeke was almost
- 6:01Speaker 1: disgusted by this, and yet he was proud all the same,
- 6:04Speaker 1: true devils of the island, devils not too unlike the
- 6:08Speaker 1: ones born and raised in Marly regardless of ethnicity. The
- 6:11Speaker 1: question rang through his mind. Are people turned into devils
- 6:15Speaker 1: by their circumstances or are they truly just born that way?
- 6:19Speaker 1: Regardless of the answer, it didn't change the fact that
- 6:21Speaker 1: devils existed. Perhaps if Erwin and his group had never
- 6:24Speaker 1: been born, they wouldn't be here to suffer such a
- 6:27Speaker 1: terrible death. The threat of death and the dread of
- 6:30Speaker 1: death were both worse than actually dying. This was what
- 6:33Speaker 1: Zeke had come to learn quickly in his time as
- 6:35Speaker 1: the war chief. His time fighting, he had thrown away
- 6:38Speaker 1: his humanity just to preserve what he held dear, and
- 6:41Speaker 1: now he would do it again. The stones came through
- 6:44Speaker 1: as Erwin raced forward. He knew his time was nearing
- 6:47Speaker 1: its end. Even if he got close enough, he could
- 6:49Speaker 1: not properly wield his ODM gear with one arm. This
- 6:53Speaker 1: was truly the end. And then suddenly it all stopped.
- 6:56Speaker 1: A shard of stone took out the entire left side
- 6:59Speaker 1: of his stomach. He didn't feel it. He didn't feel anything.
- 7:02Speaker 1: As his horse came out from under him and he
- 7:04Speaker 1: flew through the air. He thought he heard a voice
- 7:06Speaker 1: cry out, Commander. He witnessed flashes of his father and
- 7:09Speaker 1: his father's teachings. The nights they spent by candlelight, talking
- 7:13Speaker 1: about world history and theorizing what the world was like
- 7:16Speaker 1: beyond the walls. He hit the ground and heard a
- 7:18Speaker 1: sickening crunch as bones snapped. He didn't feel those either,
- 7:22Speaker 1: He felt grace peace. In a way. Irwin felt as
- 7:26Speaker 1: if there were no more beautiful scene than this, nor
- 7:28Speaker 1: a scene more fitting for a scout to die beyond
- 7:31Speaker 1: the walls, surrounded by nature, your body slowly deteriorating, to
- 7:35Speaker 1: become one with the ground, the nature that you fought
- 7:37Speaker 1: so hard to witness with your own two eyes. This
- 7:41Speaker 1: was a smile on him. This was God's smile on him,
- 7:44Speaker 1: a blessing so that he was surrounded by such beauty.
- 7:47Speaker 1: And despite the smoke in death, the blood missed and
- 7:49Speaker 1: dismembered bodies, he felt as if he were in the
- 7:52Speaker 1: most peaceful place in the world. He looked up into
- 7:55Speaker 1: the sky and into the clouds and felt liberation. He
- 7:58Speaker 1: was now well and true, truly free. His eyes closed, Father,
- 8:02Speaker 1: why would the government erase our memories? Erwin asked. His
- 8:05Speaker 1: father smiled down at him. I don't know. They more
- 8:08Speaker 1: than likely don't want us to remember what's beyond the walls.
- 8:11Speaker 1: I will go there one day, Irwin said, I will
- 8:13Speaker 1: venture beyond the walls. I will find what we've forgotten.
- 8:16Speaker 1: I'll discover the truth. His father turned to him. You
- 8:19Speaker 1: can't do that. Erwin's head cocked to the side confusion
- 8:22Speaker 1: what his father continued. You can't do this, commander. You
- 8:25Speaker 1: think I'll let you die a peaceful death after what
- 8:28Speaker 1: you've just done. Erwin's eyes turned to a moment of
- 8:30Speaker 1: lucidity to see flock carrying him. He blacked out again.
- 8:33Speaker 1: In the darkness, he heard voices and the sound of
- 8:35Speaker 1: a blade leaving its sheath. No, you have to save Armine. Darkness.
- 8:40Speaker 1: He was in darkness again. A moment passed. He saw
- 8:43Speaker 1: a light floating in the center of the darkness. He
- 8:45Speaker 1: stepped forward toward it and thought he witnessed a little
- 8:48Speaker 1: girl standing nearby. Wait, who are you? He reached out
- 8:51Speaker 1: and touched the light and felt as if he were
- 8:53Speaker 1: struck by a bolt of lightning with a roar. He
- 8:55Speaker 1: stood up agony. His mind thought to itself, my body,
- 8:58Speaker 1: it's all wrong, this is w' Let me die, Let
- 9:01Speaker 1: me die. He looked down and saw Bertholdt like an
- 9:04Speaker 1: ant before him. Oh please, please, relief, relief, it's so hot.
- 9:09Speaker 1: He reached down and lifted berthold up. The former cadet
- 9:12Speaker 1: cried out, begging for mercy. Please, it's me, Bertholdt, save me.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Erwin would have felt some form of sympathy for his
- 9:18Speaker 1: former comrade if he weren't in every form of agony,
- 9:21Speaker 1: mind numbing pain, physical mental. His mind was falling apart,
- 9:25Speaker 1: tearing away at the seams. Nothing mattered right now. He
- 9:28Speaker 1: either needed to die or needed to be healed. He
- 9:31Speaker 1: could not stay in between the two like this any longer.
- 9:34Speaker 1: He put Bertholdt into his mouth, and with the crunch,
- 9:36Speaker 1: he swallowed euphoria. This was the best thing he'd ever tasted.
- 9:40Speaker 1: The taste was more than just a feeling on his tongue.
- 9:43Speaker 1: It was reverberating through his body. Shackles being removed, though
- 9:47Speaker 1: a rope still tethered itself around his waist, and at
- 9:50Speaker 1: that moment he was pulled back. He felt scouts pulling
- 9:52Speaker 1: him up. Steam rose to the heavens once more. Erwin
- 9:56Speaker 1: saw the sky, but there were no birds there anymore.
- 9:58Speaker 1: There was no freedom. He was in another cage. He
- 10:01Speaker 1: sat forward, held by Levi, What what have you done?
- 10:05Speaker 1: He asked, what I had to do? Flock stood there.
- 10:08Speaker 1: I hate you. You're a devil, but you're a devil
- 10:10Speaker 1: we need It was too easy for Erwin to die.
- 10:13Speaker 1: He needed to feel the pain of his decisions. He
- 10:16Speaker 1: needed to feel the pain of the eyes on his
- 10:18Speaker 1: back staring daggers into him. To die with what he
- 10:21Speaker 1: had done was too easy to live with. It was
- 10:23Speaker 1: where true punishment was. Erwin was given time to rest,
- 10:27Speaker 1: and during that time, he believed he witnessed Berthold crying,
- 10:30Speaker 1: the colossal titan crying. It hurts so bad. What is this?
- 10:34Speaker 1: Erwin asked. Suddenly he was approached from the side by
- 10:37Speaker 1: the one he had hoped would one day replace him,
- 10:39Speaker 1: Armin Arlert. This is the cost of everything, Erwin looked
- 10:42Speaker 1: to Armin silently, as the boy looked back at him.
- 10:45Speaker 1: This is the cost of seeing the sea, This is
- 10:47Speaker 1: the cost of discovering what's out there? Can you pay it?
- 10:50Speaker 1: Erwin opened his eyes. A Pandora's box, he whispered as
- 10:53Speaker 1: he lay there on top of the wall. Levi walked over.
- 10:56Speaker 1: What are you saying? Erwin shook his head and started
- 10:58Speaker 1: to stand. Levi put out a hand on Erwin's shoulder.
- 11:01Speaker 1: You need to rest. Erwin grabbed that arm with his right,
- 11:04Speaker 1: only to suddenly realize that he had a right arm.
- 11:07Speaker 1: He blinked twice and pushed it from his mind. There's
- 11:09Speaker 1: no time. We've come this far to discover what's at
- 11:11Speaker 1: the bottom of that basement, and I'm not waiting anymore.
- 11:13Speaker 1: The group made their way to the bottom of the basement.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Erin and Mikassa were silent and wouldn't make eye contact
- 11:18Speaker 1: with anyone entering the basement. They began to go through
- 11:21Speaker 1: the study until they found it a journal that smelled
- 11:23Speaker 1: slightly of dust and mildew. Within was a drawing so
- 11:26Speaker 1: accurate that one might think it were somehow pulled straight
- 11:29Speaker 1: from the eye of its viewer. And within was what
- 11:31Speaker 1: they wanted to learn, and it was more than they
- 11:33Speaker 1: could have ever asked for. Erin and Mikassa were detained
- 11:37Speaker 1: for insubordination and attacking a superior officer. Neither of them spoke.
- 11:41Speaker 1: They hardly ate. They just thought back on everything. Armand
- 11:44Speaker 1: was always too kind to fight back. He was the
- 11:47Speaker 1: kind to just stand there and take the brunt of
- 11:49Speaker 1: the bully's beatings. He would just take whatever was dished
- 11:52Speaker 1: out at him without complaint. And now he had done
- 11:55Speaker 1: it again, and it had cost him his life armand
- 11:57Speaker 1: had wanted so badly to see the sea, and now
- 12:00Speaker 1: he couldn't. His dreams were taken from him. Suddenly, Irwin
- 12:03Speaker 1: appeared by the brig, Levi flanking him. Erwin motioned to
- 12:06Speaker 1: the door. Let them out. It's not like we could
- 12:08Speaker 1: keep them in here, even if we wanted to. I
- 12:10Speaker 1: doubt that the public will take kindly to their heroes
- 12:13Speaker 1: being detained. The guard began to open the door. Erin
- 12:16Speaker 1: just looked at Irwin with the coldest stare. Irwin witnessed
- 12:19Speaker 1: this and felt the same feeling he had always felt.
- 12:21Speaker 1: This stare wasn't anything new. He had felt it while
- 12:24Speaker 1: delivering the news of a scout's death to their family.
- 12:27Speaker 1: For what it's worth, I'm sorry about the circumstances you
- 12:30Speaker 1: found yourself in. Erin didn't blink or change his expression.
- 12:33Speaker 1: He simply spoke, I am too. He stepped out of
- 12:36Speaker 1: the brig. He had visibly lost weight. The same was
- 12:38Speaker 1: true of Mikassa. Erwin simply went his way. He opted
- 12:42Speaker 1: to allow them time to grieve. Erwin would as well
- 12:44Speaker 1: if he had any time to himself. His arm was
- 12:47Speaker 1: a dead giveaway to near all as to what had happened. Erwin,
- 12:50Speaker 1: the commander of the Scout Regiment, had just taken control
- 12:53Speaker 1: of the strongest titan of them all outside of the
- 12:56Speaker 1: founder itself and commander in chief Dallas Zachary would want
- 13:00Speaker 1: to live demonstration, and that's exactly what would happen. Erwin
- 13:03Speaker 1: Hanji nearby would begin exhibiting his power for those who
- 13:06Speaker 1: were in charge since the fall of the false monarchy.
- 13:09Speaker 1: All he had to do was wound himself with a
- 13:11Speaker 1: purpose to accomplish, and he would automatically transform to accomplish
- 13:14Speaker 1: that purpose. Taking himself a fair distance from the onlookers,
- 13:17Speaker 1: he would cut his own hand open, and with a
- 13:19Speaker 1: burst of light and an explosion so powerful that it
- 13:22Speaker 1: rocked the ground for miles, the colossal titan rose to
- 13:25Speaker 1: its full height. He was a full sixty meters tall,
- 13:28Speaker 1: standing head and shoulders over the walls. Erwin was surprisingly
- 13:32Speaker 1: in complete control of his movements. He had such mental
- 13:35Speaker 1: control and wilful prowess that his titan was at his
- 13:38Speaker 1: command from the moment he transformed. With this new ability,
- 13:41Speaker 1: a new hope shines upon the people of the walls.
- 13:44Speaker 1: But Erwin now knows the truth, just as Arman had
- 13:46Speaker 1: warned him in his dream, and going into the basement,
- 13:49Speaker 1: he had opened a Pandora's box, and such a thing
- 13:52Speaker 1: would not be easy to close again. It was reported
- 13:54Speaker 1: to the powers that be that they were nothing more
- 13:57Speaker 1: than a small island compared to the rest of the world,
- 13:59Speaker 1: and that he humanity existed beyond the walls, and it
- 14:02Speaker 1: was such humanity that were creating Titans outside of the walls,
- 14:05Speaker 1: and such humanity that had sent the warriors to destroy them.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Erwin then began to realize the truth based on the
- 14:11Speaker 1: memories of Bertholdt. This was a surgical strike. The entirety
- 14:15Speaker 1: of the past few years from the fall of Shaganshina
- 14:18Speaker 1: and onward were nothing more than an invasion for the
- 14:20Speaker 1: founding Titan, and the reason for that was that Marley
- 14:23Speaker 1: needed the power to control all Titans at will to
- 14:26Speaker 1: maintain military dominance. But secondarily it was because they feared
- 14:30Speaker 1: the Titans and the power that Paradise held over the world.
- 14:34Speaker 1: To them, Paradise was a ticking time bomb waiting to
- 14:36Speaker 1: go off. They needed to do something about the devils
- 14:39Speaker 1: before the world was destroyed. Surely, since the warrior unit failed,
- 14:43Speaker 1: they would try something again. Currently, a full strike was
- 14:47Speaker 1: probably out of the question, as the Titans keeping the
- 14:49Speaker 1: Eldians inside the wall were also keeping Marlee and its
- 14:52Speaker 1: forces out. But even still, such a defense couldn't last
- 14:55Speaker 1: forever as anti Titan weapons were under development. So the
- 14:59Speaker 1: best thing that they could do was quickly gain control
- 15:01Speaker 1: of the island, and that's what they did. They eradicated
- 15:04Speaker 1: as many Titans as possible and freed the island from
- 15:07Speaker 1: their grip before making their way to the sea. Erwin
- 15:10Speaker 1: sat upon his horse as they crossed the dunes and
- 15:13Speaker 1: found the never ending blue. Coming down from his horse,
- 15:15Speaker 1: he watched the ecstatic souls play on the beach. Erwin
- 15:18Speaker 1: let up a smile and looked to LEVI, what about you, LEVI?
- 15:21Speaker 1: Will you also take off your boots and enjoy the sand?
- 15:24Speaker 1: Levi scoffed, I don't care for the sand. It irks me.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Erwin let off a laugh. I don't think I will either.
- 15:30Speaker 1: His eye then caught Erin as he also stood in
- 15:33Speaker 1: the water. Everyone else was having the time of their lives,
- 15:36Speaker 1: but Erin merely pointed his finger out toward the ocean.
- 15:39Speaker 1: If we kill everyone over there, will we finally be free.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Erwin and the others finally found the old forgotten wharf.
- 15:46Speaker 1: There they camped out until a Marlean vessel would pass by,
- 15:49Speaker 1: scoping it out. Erin, who had been underwater, rose from
- 15:52Speaker 1: the sea to capture the ship, bringing it to land.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Erwin boarded the vessel, where he found the captain. He
- 15:57Speaker 1: offered to parley with him, but the captain was adam
- 16:00Speaker 1: that he would never cooperate with a filthy Eldian. That
- 16:03Speaker 1: was when a bullet from a mouser C. Ninety six,
- 16:05Speaker 1: a beautiful weapon by the way, passed through his skull.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Erwin watched as the man fell as the one behind smiled,
- 16:11Speaker 1: Greeting's commander Smith, I am Jelena and Zeke jeger sends
- 16:15Speaker 1: his regards. It came to be understood by Erwin that
- 16:17Speaker 1: Jelena was part of a faction who stood against Marlee,
- 16:20Speaker 1: and that Eldians possessed many allies beyond the walls, connections
- 16:24Speaker 1: and development weapons, training vehicles. With the help of these
- 16:28Speaker 1: anti Marlians and their political connections with the likes of
- 16:31Speaker 1: the Azumibito clan of Huzudu. They they dragged Paradise into
- 16:35Speaker 1: the current century, but they could hardly be trusted, as
- 16:38Speaker 1: they were attempting to manipulate Erin, or so Erwin believed.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Erwin was also on the vessel to Marlee, where he
- 16:44Speaker 1: witnessed this new world alongside the other scouts. He also
- 16:47Speaker 1: witnessed the hatred and threats issued about oncoming conflicts. Erin
- 16:51Speaker 1: was obviously distraught. He was getting ready to go off.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Erwin could see it in his eyes. Erin had once
- 16:57Speaker 1: been full of vitality and vigor, but he was now
- 16:59Speaker 1: quiet and expressionless. He was never the same since Chaganshina.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Was that because of the loss of Armine. Who knew,
- 17:05Speaker 1: But the ride back to parad Erwin would eventually come
- 17:08Speaker 1: to Erin. During the night, he would put two glasses
- 17:10Speaker 1: down on the table, as well as a bottle of
- 17:12Speaker 1: alcohol he had purchased in Marley. He poured two glasses
- 17:14Speaker 1: and pushed one toward Erin, and then took one for himself.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Erwin took one slow sip and let the liquid play
- 17:20Speaker 1: on his tongue before swallowing it. He swirled the brown
- 17:23Speaker 1: fluid in his glass and looked at it a unique flavor,
- 17:25Speaker 1: unlike anything on Paradise. Erin didn't drink. He remained silent.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Erwin took another step. I assume all of this is
- 17:31Speaker 1: about Armin. You've not been the same since Shanganshina. You've
- 17:34Speaker 1: been seething. Erin just looked coldly into Erwin's eyes. Erwin
- 17:38Speaker 1: looked around and shrugged. Is this a conversation or a
- 17:41Speaker 1: staring contest? Tell me what's on your mind? I need
- 17:43Speaker 1: to know. Erin remained quiet. Erwin sighed and stood. He
- 17:47Speaker 1: turned to leave. I'm sure you saw what happened in
- 17:49Speaker 1: Marley at that meeting in their congress. Paradise has enemies,
- 17:52Speaker 1: and right now you're our best chance at stopping that.
- 17:55Speaker 1: But if you won't cooperate with me, then you're a liability.
- 17:58Speaker 1: I might have to propose having someone else in it.
- 18:00Speaker 1: He the founding Titan. Erin sighed heavily as he averted
- 18:03Speaker 1: his gaze. It has nothing to do with you or Armin.
- 18:06Speaker 1: It's the world outside of the walls. They hate us.
- 18:09Speaker 1: They're going to kill us if we don't do anything.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Erwin looked back. That's why we have you. Everything will
- 18:14Speaker 1: be fine. They won't attack us. You're wrong, Erin said.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Erwin's brown furrowed as he turned his whole body toward Erin.
- 18:21Speaker 1: How do you know? Erin was silent for a moment.
- 18:23Speaker 1: When I kissed as Dooria's hand, I saw the future
- 18:27Speaker 1: paradise in ruins. If we don't do anything, they will
- 18:30Speaker 1: destroy us. Erwin sat back down. Why didn't you say anything?
- 18:33Speaker 1: Erin sat there. I did not want anyone to hurt Historia.
- 18:37Speaker 1: The only way to make the Founder's power work is
- 18:39Speaker 1: if I come in contact with a titan of royal blood.
- 18:41Speaker 1: That means her. We would have forced her to take
- 18:43Speaker 1: a titan, and that would have cut her lifespan short
- 18:46Speaker 1: to a mere thirteen years, a necessary sacrifice. Erwin spoke,
- 18:50Speaker 1: you only had thirteen years, and the same is true
- 18:52Speaker 1: of me. There's a cost of things, Erin. Eron sat there.
- 18:55Speaker 1: I know for a fact, because I saw only one
- 18:58Speaker 1: path forward. Erwin raised, what is it? Erin looked into
- 19:02Speaker 1: his eyes the rumbling Erin would confide in Erwin everything
- 19:06Speaker 1: he couldn't tell his friends or anyone else. Erin trusted Irwin,
- 19:09Speaker 1: and Erwin listened closely to what he had to say.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Erin would be the one to tell Erwin that he
- 19:14Speaker 1: was planning to meet with Zeke about possible next steps.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Erwin realized the need for this and allowed Erin to go.
- 19:20Speaker 1: During the time Erin was in Marle, he sent back
- 19:22Speaker 1: letters and private correspondence with Erwin, informing him of everything
- 19:26Speaker 1: he saw playing the spy. But Erwin had not let
- 19:28Speaker 1: Erin go alone, and he had commanded that Levi be
- 19:31Speaker 1: by his side to ensure that Erin didn't go off
- 19:33Speaker 1: the rails or lose his powers. But at the same
- 19:36Speaker 1: time he told Levi to stay out of the line
- 19:38Speaker 1: of sight of Zeke Yeger lest Zeke be scared off
- 19:41Speaker 1: by him. It eventually reached Erwin that Zeke planned to
- 19:44Speaker 1: defect to Paradise. He knew better than to trust him,
- 19:47Speaker 1: but he also knew that Zeke being in Paradise would
- 19:49Speaker 1: only offer them boons and would take away from the
- 19:52Speaker 1: power of the Marlians. Erin continued to spy, as did Levi,
- 19:56Speaker 1: and it came to Erwin's attention that a large gathering
- 19:59Speaker 1: of Polite medical leaders had been planned in Liberia and
- 20:02Speaker 1: this likely would be the declaration of war against Paradise,
- 20:06Speaker 1: and so Erin, Levi and Irwin began setting up plans
- 20:10Speaker 1: for this. They set out for Marley with everything they
- 20:12Speaker 1: would need. The day came and the warrior unit was
- 20:15Speaker 1: silently pacified as Willi gave his speech. But I don't
- 20:19Speaker 1: want to die, because I was born into this world,
- 20:21Speaker 1: Willy cried from the stage, his glossing of history ending
- 20:24Speaker 1: with the current day and its threat. I ask for
- 20:27Speaker 1: aid from those of you who want to live. Please
- 20:30Speaker 1: join me in living for the future. The crowd roared
- 20:32Speaker 1: his favor. With our power, we can overcome the hardship
- 20:36Speaker 1: we face. Please give me your strength and join me
- 20:39Speaker 1: in this fight against the devils of Paradise Island. I,
- 20:42Speaker 1: Willie Tiber, declare on behalf of the Marlian government, that
- 20:46Speaker 1: our war with the forces of Paradise Island begins now.
- 20:50Speaker 1: The crowd roared and clapped, chanting his name all the same.
- 20:53Speaker 1: From the crowd a man stood, his overcoat on his arm,
- 20:56Speaker 1: his fedora upon his head. He stepped out into the
- 20:59Speaker 1: lane as the crowd spoke. Willie Tiber's eyes were full
- 21:02Speaker 1: of fear as he saw this man. Slowly, the man
- 21:06Speaker 1: walked closer to the stage. Those nearby stopped clapping as
- 21:09Speaker 1: they saw this occur, stopping in front of the stage.
- 21:12Speaker 1: The man removed his hat to show his blonde hair.
- 21:15Speaker 1: It was Erwin Smith. I applaud you on your convictions,
- 21:18Speaker 1: Lord Tiber, Erwin said, as the crowd began to die down.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Truly a heartwarming sentiment. But you forgot that we were
- 21:24Speaker 1: also born into this world. We want to live. Everyone
- 21:28Speaker 1: in Shinganjina District wanted to live. But you sent your
- 21:32Speaker 1: warriors and tore down the walls. Our people were devoured
- 21:36Speaker 1: by titans, and so you stand here and demand that
- 21:39Speaker 1: the world gather against us and destroy us, when we
- 21:42Speaker 1: only just recently learned that you even existed. If you
- 21:45Speaker 1: had stayed where you were and left us alone, we
- 21:47Speaker 1: wouldn't have even thought about you. At about this time,
- 21:50Speaker 1: various guards were surrounding Erwin Smith. I don't believe I've
- 21:54Speaker 1: been clear enough, Irwin said. He raised his right hand.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Because of your attack, I lost this arm. It was
- 22:00Speaker 1: a permanent reminder of everything Paradise had lost due to
- 22:03Speaker 1: the fall of the walls. He displayed the palm of
- 22:05Speaker 1: his hand that had a diagonal cut across it, blood
- 22:08Speaker 1: dripping from the wound. I am Erwin Smith, the thirteenth
- 22:11Speaker 1: commander of the Scout regiment and the current holder of
- 22:14Speaker 1: the colossal Titan, the very titan you used to initiate
- 22:18Speaker 1: your attack on my nation. The crowd began to panic,
- 22:20Speaker 1: as did the guards. WILLI began to plead with Erwin
- 22:23Speaker 1: not to do anything rash. There's no need for you
- 22:26Speaker 1: to transform. Erwin conked his head. Is that so? Didn't
- 22:30Speaker 1: you just declare war on us? Did you not just
- 22:32Speaker 1: gather the world to destroy us? Were at war? Are
- 22:35Speaker 1: we not? Did you think we wouldn't fight back? He asked.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Willie looked around and pointed at a building. See there
- 22:41Speaker 1: there are women and children here, unarmed civilians, other Eldians.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Would you so callously destroy such a place? Erwin looked around.
- 22:50Speaker 1: There were women and children in Shanganshina, and trust Eldians
- 22:53Speaker 1: were there too. Are you truly trying to rely upon
- 22:56Speaker 1: my humanity? Am I not the Eldian devil of Paradise?
- 23:00Speaker 1: I have no conscience? Do I? So? What are you
- 23:03Speaker 1: hoping to gain by trying to guilt me? At this point,
- 23:06Speaker 1: Willie was quiet, sweat pouring down his face. The people
- 23:09Speaker 1: nearby were panicking. Erwin turned to look at them and spoke,
- 23:13Speaker 1: be quiet, I am the one talking now, The Marlian
- 23:16Speaker 1: guards cocked their weapons and left them trained on Erwin.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Do not think you have any true power in this situation,
- 23:22Speaker 1: he said to the guards as he looked to the
- 23:24Speaker 1: roof of each building. Eldie and Sniper's setting up. You
- 23:27Speaker 1: so easily declare a world war, Lord Tiber. You merely
- 23:30Speaker 1: had to speak with us and hear us out. But
- 23:32Speaker 1: you had to declare war, and now you have to
- 23:35Speaker 1: see the consequences. There was a golden spark about his body.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Wait wait, wait, wait, wait, Willy cried, as he hit
- 23:41Speaker 1: his knees. Please don't Erwin stood there. He looked around.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Willie was on his hands and knees. Erwin then spoke,
- 23:49Speaker 1: Tell them what really happened those years ago, Lord Tiber.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Explain to them exactly why we're in this crisis now,
- 23:56Speaker 1: this hair trigger the entire world is scared of. Tell
- 23:59Speaker 1: them what you did and what you're asking them to
- 24:02Speaker 1: clean up for you. WILLI sat there. We attacked Paradise first, louder,
- 24:08Speaker 1: Erwin demanded. WILLI sat up and faced everyone. Nine years ago,
- 24:13Speaker 1: Marley in military leadership, under my guidance, launched a secret
- 24:17Speaker 1: raid on Paradise Island, and breached the first wall. Maria
- 24:21Speaker 1: Erwin reminded him. WILLI nodded, indeed it was wall. Maria.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Erwin then continued, on that day, you sealed the fate
- 24:29Speaker 1: of over one third of our population, each to die
- 24:32Speaker 1: a horrifying death being devoured by Titans. WILLI nodded. We
- 24:36Speaker 1: were attempting to get the Founding Titan to protect the world.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Erwin shook his head. Ah ah, no, do not forget
- 24:44Speaker 1: that I inherited Berthold's memories, Lord tyber WILLI shook his head,
- 24:48Speaker 1: pleading with them, tell them why or I will Willy
- 24:51Speaker 1: looked down and away. It was to restore military power
- 24:55Speaker 1: to Marley. The Titans are our primary source of military power,
- 24:59Speaker 1: and with the rise of anti Titan weaponry, we were
- 25:02Speaker 1: losing our advantage. We needed a rumbling, Erwin shouted. Marley
- 25:07Speaker 1: attacked Paradise to take the Founding Titan, primarily for the
- 25:10Speaker 1: purpose of using the rumbling against you. The crowd was silent.
- 25:15Speaker 1: Erwin spoke, I don't feign to believe that you could
- 25:17Speaker 1: ever trust or care for Eldians like us, and I
- 25:20Speaker 1: do not entirely care. But Willie Tiber and the Marlian
- 25:23Speaker 1: military are responsible for this mess you're in because they
- 25:26Speaker 1: craved the power we now hold. Yes, we possess the
- 25:30Speaker 1: founding Titan and the means for a strike that could
- 25:32Speaker 1: obliterate every man, woman and child in the world if
- 25:35Speaker 1: we so decided. As he said this, a blanket of
- 25:38Speaker 1: dread fell over the crowd, But he stopped. If we're
- 25:41Speaker 1: given the peace we desire, we will not utilize the rumbling.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Nobody needs to die. There doesn't need to be a
- 25:47Speaker 1: war so long as the founding Titan exists. No matter
- 25:50Speaker 1: whose hands it's in, the threat of a rumbling is
- 25:53Speaker 1: there be it in the hands of Paradise, or even
- 25:55Speaker 1: in the hands of the Marlian snakes who are attempting
- 25:58Speaker 1: to manipulate you into doing their dirty work. I tell
- 26:00Speaker 1: you now to think about what I'm doing as the
- 26:03Speaker 1: official ambassador to Paradise. I could have right here, right now,
- 26:07Speaker 1: transformed into a titan and killed you all with the
- 26:10Speaker 1: force of the blast. We so easily could have launched
- 26:13Speaker 1: a rumbling, and could at any moment if we so decided,
- 26:16Speaker 1: But we did not. Do you know why the crowd
- 26:19Speaker 1: was silent? Erwin continued, because we, contrary to popular belief,
- 26:23Speaker 1: do not wish to kill anyone. All we wish is
- 26:25Speaker 1: what King Carl Fritz wished for, and that is peace.
- 26:28Speaker 1: And so I say to you, stay away from us,
- 26:31Speaker 1: and we'll stay away from you. Erwin placed his hat
- 26:34Speaker 1: back upon his head and began to leave. And so
- 26:36Speaker 1: there was no true attack in Liberia that day, but
- 26:39Speaker 1: it might as well have been. Marlee's standing in the
- 26:42Speaker 1: eyes of the world had been corroded, and the unity
- 26:45Speaker 1: Willie tiber It hoped to build was slowly torn down.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Zeke would be brought back with them to Eldea, where
- 26:50Speaker 1: he and Erin would be separated, but along with him,
- 26:53Speaker 1: Zeke brought a peace offering of fine Marlee and wine.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Zeke and Erin were kept far apart, with Levi and
- 26:58Speaker 1: an elite squad cover Zeke the entire time. Erin would
- 27:02Speaker 1: meet with Erwin and tell him that this is not
- 27:04Speaker 1: what they needed and that the world is still a
- 27:06Speaker 1: danger to them. Erwin insists that this is enough. So
- 27:09Speaker 1: long as they have the founding Titan and the Beast Titan,
- 27:12Speaker 1: Paradise will know peace. But this didn't sit well with
- 27:15Speaker 1: Erin nor the Yegarists. But as you know, this wouldn't
- 27:18Speaker 1: stop Marley from attempting their final assault. After all, Marley
- 27:21Speaker 1: alone were the ones who attacked Paradise during the final
- 27:24Speaker 1: battle before the Rumbling. In the final season, Zeke manages
- 27:27Speaker 1: to escape due to the wine he brought, which contained
- 27:29Speaker 1: his spinal fluid, as well as sheer luck that saw
- 27:32Speaker 1: Levi maimed. The Yegarists managed to take over the island
- 27:36Speaker 1: with the threat of Zeke's roar, to which even Erwin
- 27:38Speaker 1: could not contend. He would not have been affected by
- 27:41Speaker 1: the roar, but everyone else would have. He cursed himself
- 27:44Speaker 1: for not seeing this coming sooner. Erwin was now in control,
- 27:47Speaker 1: and he mentioned his intentions of beginning the Rumbling, but
- 27:50Speaker 1: at this time, Marlee and airships began to fly over,
- 27:53Speaker 1: dropping in soldiers and warriors alike, with the Warhammer also
- 27:56Speaker 1: being here. Arin is told by Jelena that he should free,
- 27:59Speaker 1: but he he knows that Zeke is on his way,
- 28:01Speaker 1: so he turns into the attack Titan and begins to
- 28:03Speaker 1: make his way towards Zeke. In his beast Titan, Zeke
- 28:06Speaker 1: appears on the wall of Shaganshina. He tries to lay
- 28:09Speaker 1: ground cover for Erin, but is sniped by the cart
- 28:11Speaker 1: Titan and falls to the ground, but remains alive. In
- 28:14Speaker 1: an effort to cause confusion, Zeke roars and turns all
- 28:17Speaker 1: those who drank his wine into pure Titans. This, however,
- 28:21Speaker 1: takes their only chip away from them. As Erwin and
- 28:23Speaker 1: the Scouts now no longer have a reason to hold back,
- 28:26Speaker 1: Erwin commands the Scouts to begin attacking. He states that
- 28:29Speaker 1: the biggest threat for them currently is the cart Titan
- 28:31Speaker 1: and the Warhammer Titan, both of which are on the
- 28:34Speaker 1: wall sniping from a distance. The Scouts then fly off
- 28:36Speaker 1: with their ODM gear to take out these threats, all
- 28:39Speaker 1: the while Erin manages to break free and runs for Zeke. However,
- 28:42Speaker 1: as they grow closer, right before they can touch, a
- 28:45Speaker 1: massive light covers the whole of Shaganshina. As a powerful
- 28:48Speaker 1: burst of wind blows Erin off his feet and away
- 28:51Speaker 1: from Zeke. The colossal Titan has appeared and begins to
- 28:54Speaker 1: come toward Erin and Zeke. Erin wishes to run out
- 28:57Speaker 1: and touch Zeke, but the armored Titan assails him in
- 28:59Speaker 1: a rage. At the death of Porco Galliard by Aaron's hands,
- 29:03Speaker 1: Erin is forced to assume his attack Titan form and
- 29:05Speaker 1: face off against Ryner once again, where it's a far
- 29:08Speaker 1: closer match than it had been previously. Yner manages to
- 29:12Speaker 1: wound Erin's attack Titan, but Erin does eventually gain purchase. However,
- 29:16Speaker 1: before he can kill Ryner, Erwin grips Erin and lifts
- 29:18Speaker 1: him up, capturing Zeke as well. He holds Erin in
- 29:22Speaker 1: his hand and goes to put him in his mouth.
- 29:24Speaker 1: Erin can't fight back against this. The only option Aaron
- 29:27Speaker 1: currently has would be to use Titan hardening to put
- 29:30Speaker 1: himself into a cocoon not too unlike any but he
- 29:33Speaker 1: realizes that if he does this, Paradise loses. It's only deterrent.
- 29:37Speaker 1: Erin knows he can't choose this, and Erwin knows this too.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Erin has no other options, as he feels it would
- 29:43Speaker 1: be better to be eaten than to leave Paradise unprotected.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Erwin places Erin in his mouth. Aaron thinks about how
- 29:50Speaker 1: far he came and what it was he was planning
- 29:52Speaker 1: to do, and laments that he can no longer protect
- 29:54Speaker 1: his friends. He laments that he can no longer be
- 29:57Speaker 1: with Mikasa, but in his final moments, he smiles as
- 30:00Speaker 1: he sees Armin there ready to take his hand, Erwin
- 30:03Speaker 1: destroys Erin and as such inherits the power of the
- 30:06Speaker 1: Attack Titan and the Founding Titan. With Zeke still in
- 30:10Speaker 1: his hands, Erwin lets out his own roar, completely nullifying
- 30:13Speaker 1: the powers of the Marle and Titans, and further utilizes
- 30:16Speaker 1: Zeke's Pure Titans and directs them to end the battle.
- 30:19Speaker 1: With this, they've captured the remainder of the Titans Marley
- 30:22Speaker 1: had save the Jaw Titan whose shifter was killed. Erwin
- 30:26Speaker 1: then utilizes the Founding Titan and its powers to lead
- 30:29Speaker 1: a counter offensive on Marlee that would see its ability
- 30:31Speaker 1: to fight back completely devastated. This issues a grim warning
- 30:35Speaker 1: to the rest of the world that Paradise does indeed
- 30:38Speaker 1: possess the Founding Titan and can use it at will,
- 30:41Speaker 1: and with their power, can destroy the entirety of the
- 30:44Speaker 1: strongest country in the world in a single day, leaving
- 30:47Speaker 1: Marley to waste. Erwin then returns to Paradise with his
- 30:50Speaker 1: Titans and returns the Wall Titans back to their original
- 30:53Speaker 1: positions as a wall around Paradise, but this time as
- 30:57Speaker 1: a single wall that spans the entirety of all three
- 31:00Speaker 1: Erwin would then have Zeke fed to one of the Scouts,
- 31:03Speaker 1: likely Connie Springer, as it would be poetic justice to
- 31:07Speaker 1: have the last surviving member of Ragako Village devour the
- 31:10Speaker 1: one who destroyed it. With the rest of the Titans
- 31:13Speaker 1: in Elda's control, they no longer need Zeke so long
- 31:16Speaker 1: as they have Historia. Of course, Erwin waits until after
- 31:19Speaker 1: Estoria is born before he turns her into a Titan.
- 31:22Speaker 1: More than likely he would give her the armored Titan,
- 31:25Speaker 1: as Reiner would be almost begging for it. And so
- 31:28Speaker 1: Erwin and his founders stand resolute against the world. He
- 31:32Speaker 1: knows that world peace is not something that will ever come,
- 31:35Speaker 1: not for Eldians. After all, Dot Pixis once said the
- 31:38Speaker 1: same to him. He says that so long as there
- 31:41Speaker 1: are one or more people on Earth, war would continue.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Peace was simply not in the human vocabulary. Historia would
- 31:48Speaker 1: issue a declaration that any Eldians who wish to escape
- 31:51Speaker 1: persecution by the world would be free to move to
- 31:54Speaker 1: Paradise Island, where they would be safe and treated equally.
- 31:57Speaker 1: They then began forming pacts with other nations, such as Zadou,
- 32:01Speaker 1: who were willing to ally with them in exchange for
- 32:03Speaker 1: ice burst stone deposits, which were actually capable of being
- 32:06Speaker 1: formed by the power of the Founding Titan, which essentially
- 32:10Speaker 1: gave Paradise an infinite supply of this rare mineral. Fear remained,
- 32:14Speaker 1: but Paradise managed to prosper as time passed. The end
- 32:17Speaker 1: of Irwin's term as a Titan came and he would
- 32:20Speaker 1: have to pass his Titan on. As he sat there,
- 32:23Speaker 1: chained up, he could only smile, knowing that his father
- 32:26Speaker 1: was right, and was grateful to find that he had
- 32:28Speaker 1: proven as such, and with the Founder now in perfect use,
- 32:32Speaker 1: Paradise would be protected just as Carl Fritz had intended.
- 32:35Speaker 1: Irwin Smith died with a smile on his face. Throughout
- 32:38Speaker 1: the years, Paradise continues to find itself protected by the
- 32:41Speaker 1: power of the Founding Titan. Eventually, technology catches up with
- 32:45Speaker 1: the rest of the world and the threat of the
- 32:46Speaker 1: Titans slowly becomes a thing of the past. But instead
- 32:49Speaker 1: of the world destroying the Eldeans as was feared, the
- 32:52Speaker 1: world spins on. They no longer fear the Titans and
- 32:55Speaker 1: therefore have no more reason to destroy Eldia. This is
- 32:59Speaker 1: due in short part to the creation of nuclear weapons,
- 33:02Speaker 1: which ensures that every world's superpower possesses the ability to
- 33:05Speaker 1: end the world in a radioactive fire. Paradise does not
- 33:09Speaker 1: possess any nuclear weapons at the time of their creation,
- 33:11Speaker 1: but heso who does. And by this time there's such
- 33:14Speaker 1: close allies that they're willing to stick up for Paradise.
- 33:17Speaker 1: And as the age of atomic fear dawns on the world,
- 33:20Speaker 1: the fear of Titans slowly diminishes, the world evolves, and
- 33:23Speaker 1: eventually fear of Eldeans dies out. This results in world peace,
- 33:28Speaker 1: a piece that is maintained by threat of violence, not
- 33:31Speaker 1: too unlike the deterrent of the Founder, but all in all,
- 33:35Speaker 1: it is peace, and I think that's a good place
- 33:38Speaker 1: to end this what if? I hope you enjoyed it.

- 33:50Speaker 1: leave a comment below and tell me what you think.
- 33:52Speaker 1: What do you think would have happened had Irwin inherited
- 33:55Speaker 1: the colossal Titan instead of Oarmen? What do you think
- 33:57Speaker 1: would happen as always click that thumbs up if you
