- 0:00Because fuck you That's Why, is a founding member of the Odd Pods Media
- 0:03Network. Hello, and welcome to a special Eighties music edition of bfytw That's
- 0:44right, the nineteen eighties, the decade of big hair, Reaganomics, cocaine
- 0:49and excess and sometimes all at the same time. Yeah, what's changed?
- 0:56There was a lot of great music in the eighties, and we wanted to
- 0:59explore that. Uh and who better to explore it with than Lauren and Russ
- 1:03from the infectious screw of YouTube show. Hi guys, And of course I
- 1:11have to mention one of the icons of the eighties, weird Al Yes,
- 1:15Lauren has the beardl podcast, which I mean genuinely speaking of course, the
- 1:21man the myth legend really popped in the eighties and became massive. So lots
- 1:27of reasons to love the eighties. But let's do some introductions, shall we.
- 1:32Hi, I'm your host pants Sarah with me as I said, or
- 1:36Lauren and Russ. Lauren, how are you doing? I'm doing Okay,
- 1:40I'm on the tail end of a cold, but I feel like it's appropriate
- 1:42for our eighties music episode because I'm sounding a little bit like Bonnie Tyler right
- 1:47now. Oh, I like that total eclipse of the hard things every now
- 1:52and then. Right, So, Lauren, I'll say, for in your
- 2:05case, perhaps aside from weird al, what is your favorite thing from the
- 2:09eighties? Oh, thing music wise or otherwise anything anything. I mean,
- 2:15you can you can stick to music if you want. That is the theme
- 2:17of the episode. But I would not blame you if you were like,
- 2:21you know, there's this thing from the eighties that I absolutely love. You
- 2:24know, this is this is very this is tough, this is hard.
- 2:28I'm going to now that I've been put on the spot about it, I'm
- 2:30going to go with the show Family Ties. Oh that's a good show.
- 2:34Yeah, yeah, it's a good show. It's a good pick. It's
- 2:38a good pick. Didn't they want to get rid of mar Michael J.
- 2:40Fox from Family Ties? Initially? Like some exact saw him and was like
- 2:45absolutely not. Yea, yeah. The show was supposed to initially be about
- 2:50the parents, but then the kids were like no, but we're like pretty
- 2:53awesome at doing this, So that's what happened. We're more popular than they
- 2:58are now, so yeah, yeah. Meredith Baxter Bernie Michael Gross the exact
- 3:06same birthday. Meredith Baxter Bernie and Michael Gross get out of town. I
- 3:08didn't know that exactly to the very day. They're the exact same age,
- 3:13and she's just Meredith Baxter. Now I believe she's married to a woman,
- 3:16Lauren. Do you think we're being Lauren? Yes, it's possible. It's
- 3:23certainly possible. I thought she was going to say down to the second and
- 3:25then I was gonna wave a bullshit. Yeah, I don't know that.
- 3:30Same day is certainly very possible. H Well, that's awesome. Family ties
- 3:35a good pick and uh and you are partnered up with the man, the
- 3:40myth, the legend, Stevie. How it goes with STEVIEE Oh, I'm
- 3:44doing great man. Yeah, No, for you, I just gave you
- 3:47a milk fingers. Sorry, it's ok Maybe there was a pause for Laura.
- 3:54Somebody's too soon. It's good. I'm okay because I got a good
- 3:59partner and I'm I'm feeling very confident about today's episode. We'll see if that
- 4:02confidence is warranted. I really hope. Stevie, what is your favorite thing
- 4:09about the eighties? As I was born in the early eighties, I remember
- 4:14very little, but I do remember just music was huge. It was everywhere,
- 4:20Like I don't Yeah, there was TV and there was a couple of
- 4:24things, but that age, but music, Like we'd be singing in the
- 4:27car every Sunday going to my grand prayers for dinner and stuff and it was
- 4:30like an hour dry before they put like the Thruway in and stuff like it
- 4:33was crazy. So like it was nuts, Like music was everywhere every evening.
- 4:40My mom would play music and stuff in the eighties and early nineties,
- 4:43and then I don't know, it just started going away with I think TV
- 4:46and then the ability to carry your own personal like library of music on you
- 4:50so nobody else had to hear it. I think there's no more that group
- 4:54listening like there used to be, and it kind of sucks. I do
- 4:57miss that a lot, and I'm not even a music for anymore, and
- 5:00i still miss that, you know. Yeah, No, that's that's absolutely
- 5:03cool. Yeah. I seem to recall like some parties my parents would throw
- 5:09where they would just put an alm on people just sitting around just jazz and
- 5:12you know, vibing, you know, and talking about the music with each
- 5:15other. And I'm like, we literally don't do that anymore. We literally
- 5:19don't do that. Like people just have like their own opinions and whatnot,
- 5:24and then they go on the internet and spread them. Yeah, well that's
- 5:27it. Well maybe the world is a little worse off because of it and
- 5:31could use a little bit more that eighties flava. Yes, agreed, So
- 5:36let's talk to their opponents. So we'll start with Russ Hi Russ Hello,
- 5:41Hello, Hello, Hello, And sir, of course, what is your
- 5:45favorite thing from the eighties, So, of course it's going to be the
- 5:49music. But for me, the diversity of music that I got to grow
- 5:55up on in the eighties is absolutely my favorite thing that happened. Like and
- 6:00and I think Lauren now we listened to a lot of Casey Kasem countdowns.
- 6:02There's a whole channel on iHeartRadio that just plays old American top forty countdowns.
- 6:08And I think it's like given Lauren more of an appreciation of how how things
- 6:13used to be. Like around the early nineties, we shifted to this thing
- 6:16in the music industry where like one genre had to rule all the time.
- 6:20Like we went through that thing where like crunch was a thing for several years
- 6:23and then gangs strap was the thing on top. And then but in the
- 6:25eighties like literally it like the top ten. Like you can go go online,
- 6:30look up a billboard a countdown from like whatever eighty one through eighty nine
- 6:39any week and just look at the top ten records and it's like the most
- 6:42diverse list of artists. Like, things weren't as siloed then, things weren't
- 6:46like like they were playing as much Prints next to Duran Duran as they were
- 6:50you know, the hair metal bands as they were you know, Anita Baker,
- 6:55like you know what I mean. Like, it's just awesome to get
- 6:58to hear all of that stuff. You know, Madonna was getting played as
- 7:01much as Quite Riot was, you know, back to back. So that
- 7:06for me, it was awesome to grow up with that diversity instead of everything
- 7:09being so siloed. Yeah, the diversity of music in the eighties is definitely
- 7:13something to be worshiped for sure. Yeah, I too remember the nineties where
- 7:17it was like it was like fad music, Like you know, something really
- 7:20popular pop up and that would dominate for a while, and then like three
- 7:24months later, something new would come along and it just kept going, like
- 7:27through goth and then new metal and yeah, all the other nineties stuff that
- 7:31popped up. I just got. I just got done recording a podcast talking
- 7:34about nineties music, so this is a treat for me. So yeah,
- 7:42that's awesome. Russ, thank you very much, and your partner. The
- 7:46person who will have the most trouble answering this question is Augie, who was
- 7:53born after the eighties had already finished. Yeah, so he never got to
- 7:57experience the eighties as they were happening. But have you experienced something from the
- 8:01eighties that you absolutely love? Oh? Yeah, Ered, I absolutely love
- 8:05the fall of the Berlin Wall. What signify the geofical shift and ended the
- 8:13Cold War. Wait a minute, did you did you? Literally it's totally
- 8:18not something that was googled? Did you did you just look that up on
- 8:20the internet to have something to say? Well, I knew the Berlin Wall
- 8:24fell fell in the eighties. I just needed a Google search to see if
- 8:28there was anything else. And I'm telling you, you don't want me to
- 8:31list off whatever else is on this list other than the music. Apparently the
- 8:35eighties was pretty garbage. Wow, holy shit. Yeah, you don't want
- 8:41to know. I'm not reading this list. It's bad. Great follow the
- 8:45Berlin Wall though, good choice, good choice. Yeah, end of the
- 8:48Cold War? Yeah, good times. Okay, yeah, that's good.
- 8:52I'm just I'm not not even going to point out that both Butter and Stevie
- 8:58are from the eighties and you could have pick them, but whatever, pick
- 9:01the fall of the Berlin Wall if you want, sure. I mean,
- 9:05that's fair though, out of the two you can choose, I mean,
- 9:09yeah, it's be fair. World changing event. Yeah, yeah, it's
- 9:13fair. Choose me a world changing event. And as I said at the
- 9:20start, I am your host. Pants's Aaron for me. My favorite thing
- 9:22from the eighties is, Like people have listened to this show for a while,
- 9:26know that my favorite thing obviously is games. That's why I do a
- 9:28podcast all about them. Like you know whatever, I play video games,
- 9:31I play board games that play basically any game if you put in front of
- 9:33me, I'm gonna play it. And when I was a kid, like
- 9:39our family had a an Atari twenty six hundred, which I did enjoy.
- 9:43But my first ever like just for me, like this was just mine,
- 9:50my first ever like video game console as it were, wasn't so much of
- 9:52console as it was a computer, and it was called the Texas Instruments t
- 9:56I ninety nine four A. I think I've talked about it before on the
- 10:01podcast, and that computer, like, I spent so much time playing so
- 10:05many ridiculous games on there. Granted some educational crap. Got bored that pretty
- 10:09quickly, but instead I played like pac Man knockoffs, I played, I
- 10:15played Donkey Kong knockoffs, I played Spy Hunter knockoffs, like basically any arcade
- 10:20game you heard of in the eighties. There was a knockoff for it on
- 10:24the DNA for a and I enjoyed the crap out of that thing, and
- 10:28I still miss it a little bit to this day, although it would be
- 10:31extremely primitive now by today's standards, but there you go. I got a
- 10:37lot of love out of that thing in the eighties. Anyway, let's play
- 10:39some games, shall we, thank Yes, we're going to have some fun,
- 10:43and I'm really excited about this first game we're playing, Game one,
- 10:46get to the karaoke BA. When I think of eighties music, I think
- 10:52of icons, and one of the biggest icons of the eighties has to be
- 10:56its greatest action star, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Sadly, he's too busy to appear
- 11:01on our little podcast, and we couldn't afford him anyway. So instead we're
- 11:07going to have a fake text to speech Arnold Schwartzenegger program. And I need
- 11:11to be absolutely clear for legal reasons, this is one hundre, not Arnold
- 11:18Schwartzenegger. It's a fake read out lyrics to ten songs. Guess the song
- 11:24and you'll earn a point, but get it wrong and the other team will
- 11:28have a chance to steal the point. The team with the most points after
- 11:31all ten songs wins the game and earns one episode point. Now, Russ,
- 11:37you got paired with Aggie, who is admittedly the least experienced in the
- 11:41eighties and probably a disadvantage. So I will give you the choice. Would
- 11:45you like to go first or second? We'll go first. You want to
- 11:50go first, all right? Sure? In that case, Aggie, please
- 11:54play track number one. You were working as a waitress in a cocktail bob
- 11:58you out, I shook you up and turns you around, turns you into
- 12:03someone new. Do you have to just say the answer? You may don't
- 12:13you want me by the Human League? That is absolutely wrong? Nice?
- 12:16Yeah, that is one point for Russ. And it's not even my favorite
- 12:20Human League song. That sounded way better than I thought. I was going
- 12:26to. I was just like taking aback of it, and I'm like,
- 12:30what, all right? Well, I will tell you that they do get
- 12:35harder as we go on, but the first couple are pretty easy. Good
- 12:37because that one I didn't know who it was. Well, you just need
- 12:41the track name. You just need the name of the song. That's all
- 12:41I'm looking for. You don't need to give me the artist. So uh
- 12:46for for Lauren and Stevie Oggie, please play track two. Let me tell
- 12:54you something lest then makes me feel good. I'm afraid of no ghost.
- 12:58I'm afraid of no ghost from Ghostbusters. It absolutely is theme from Ghostbusters.
- 13:09Oh my god, that's amazing. Holy craft, dude, that's so awesome
- 13:15a man? All right. Uh so that's a point to each team.
- 13:18Well done. Uh and we're gonna go back over to Russ and Augie and
- 13:26when you have a moment there we go. Uh. Please play track three.
- 13:33Last night I dreamt with San Pedro just like i'd never gone. I
- 13:35knew the song and you can go with us like the desert. It all
- 13:39seems like yesterday. No fine way, I'm so glad, absolutely right.
- 13:48Yeah, is like I'm not gonna have any luck with any of these.
- 13:54Yeah, well that's that's that's kind of a hidden gem of her. Yeah,
- 13:58I love that song. It's like the worst song I know. That
- 14:01is true though, that is really good. That's genuinely like my favorite Madonna
- 14:05song. Absolutely love that song. Uh it's it was blasted at my house.
- 14:11My mom was, I think a bigger fan of it than I was
- 14:13when I was younger. But now that I'm older, I'm like, yeah,
- 14:16I still love that song. All right, So let's it's two points
- 14:18to restain agi. Let's move back to Lauren and STEVIEE for track number four.
- 14:24I took you to an intimate restaurant into a suggestive movie. There's nothing's
- 14:28left to talk about unless it's horssalmdily. I don't feel so bad now because
- 14:37I got nothing on that. Can you play that again? Yeah, one
- 14:39more time. I took you to an intimate restaurant into a suggestive movie.
- 14:43There's nothing left to talk about unless it's horis psalmdily. I took you to
- 14:50an intimate restaurant, then to a suggestive movie. There's nothing else to talk
- 14:54about unless it's horizontally. Oh no, I don't know this song. Stevie,
- 15:03do you know this song? Is it the horizontal limbo? Is that
- 15:07your team's guess? I don't. I really don't have an answer, so
- 15:09I don't have one either, Yes, all right, that is incorrect.
- 15:15That'd be so cool that, Russ and can you steal? I have not
- 15:20one clue, not even a little bit like take a shot, uh,
- 15:31layer down softly? Yeah, there you go. I like that. I
- 15:35like that, but it's wrong. This was this was Olivia Newton John's physical
- 15:41Oh yeah, yeah. Wow. It's hard when you don't hear the hook.
- 15:46Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's it's it's it's hard when you don't
- 15:50hear the actual song either. He's just lycs Okay, so no point on
- 15:56that one. Let's go back over to track five for Russ and Augie.
- 16:00Just to cast Away an Island Lost. Let's see, oh now the Lonely
- 16:04Day with the one year but me, I'll sorry that was left coughing.
- 16:18I don't recognize those lyrics at all. One more time, yeah, yeah,
- 16:26just to cast Away an Island Loss. Let's see, oh now the
- 16:30Lonely Day with the one year but me, I'll oh, I got I
- 16:36got, I got nothing. I feel like this is gonna be another one
- 16:40where I'm like, oh, I can't believe I didn't know that, but
- 16:45I do know the Castaway songs. You're not gonna believe this, but that's
- 16:56incorrect. Lauren and Stevie, do you have a guess it's message in a
- 17:03bottle by the police? It absolutely is, absolutely is. I was gonna
- 17:07say the thing that throws it off is his monotone delivery. If it was
- 17:12yeah, you would have had it. Oh my god. Yeah. Then
- 17:18then you get it. Then you're like, yes, yeah, but he's
- 17:22just doing the lyrics. So Lauren and Stevie steal that point and they get
- 17:29a shot. At track number six, This is for Lauren and Stevie.
- 17:33Steve Wokes worldly down the street with the primport way down low in the sound,
- 17:37but the sound of his feet machine guns ready to go. Yes,
- 17:45it is another one bites the Dust by Queen, Well done, fucking I
- 17:49had all those albums, like actual albums. My parents gave those to me
- 17:53when I was younger, and I played them all the time until I had
- 17:56to get CDs. D Are you satisfied? All right, let's move on
- 18:07to track seven. This is for Russ and Augie Diamond Live, love it
- 18:12Boy. We move in space with minimum waste and maximum joy, city lights
- 18:17and business nights when you require street desire for high heights. I'm gonna take
- 18:26a guess based on the first two two lines on the song I think is
- 18:30I think that's smooth Operator. It is smooth Operator. Yes, absolutely right,
- 18:37smooth operator by nice spelled s a d E but pronounced day. I
- 18:42was gonna say, there's there's a there's an old in Living Color sketch where
- 18:45they're like, who do you think you kid? Your name is Sadie.
- 18:53It is all tied up three points apiece. But there are three songs left,
- 18:56so we're back over to Lauren and Stevie for track number eight. I
- 19:03feel so ensure us to take your hand and led you to the dance flu
- 19:04as the music dies, something in you and the silver screen and all said
- 19:10goodbyes. That's a careless whisper. It is careless whisper. Well done.
- 19:15Man May just bought a Japanese pressing of that record and played a whole intro
- 19:22for Lawrence You've never heard before. I need to educate people. That is
- 19:33fantastic. Good luck heard Lauren and Stevie well done. They're ahead four to
- 19:37three and there are two songs left. Russ and Augie, you get track
- 19:42number nine. Well, if you told me you were drowning, I would
- 19:47not lend a hand. I've seen your face before, my friend, but
- 19:49I don't know if you know who I am. Probably the greatest drum fell
- 19:55in the history of the game. In the air tonight, Yes, exactly
- 19:56right in the air tonight, the greatest drum filled. I love that.
- 20:10I can see where you married her. I would do it for me,
- 20:17all right. So our final track, this will determine the winner. Lauren
- 20:21and Stevie, you get first crack at this. Here is track ten.
- 20:25I should have learned to play the guitar. I should learn to play the
- 20:27drums. Look at that, mama gout it sticking in the camera. Yeah,
- 20:34that's money for nothing? Is money for nothing? Yeah? No lyrics.
- 20:45Butter's favorite song is it? He loves it. It's a great It
- 20:49is a great away from me walks Alton. Oh, that's so good.
- 21:06Drilla Rilla Night Billy. Yeah. I had I had so much fun putting
- 21:22these together. It did take like two hours to get all these made,
- 21:26but I had so much fun picking out the songs and like tweaking it so
- 21:30we would say the words right and it was. It was a gift for
- 21:33you as well. I was. I was giggling the whole time, the
- 21:37full time, just giggling NonStop. But as it turns out, Lauren and
- 21:42see we have five points, Russ and Aggie have four. They have won
- 21:47our first game and are up one point to nothing for the episode. But
- 21:52that's just game one. Game two is coming up and it's gonna be where
- 21:55two points and it's coming up right after this. If you like fun,
- 22:08then you're gonna love the beard Out Podcast. It's a podcast where we talk
- 22:12about two of the greatest things in the world, Beer and weird Out,
- 22:15and frankly, we talk more about weird Out than anything because he's the gift
- 22:21that keeps on given. So join us as we talk through weird Al's career,
- 22:26what he needs to us, and we have some very special guests on
- 22:30to discuss the magic that is Alfred Matthew Yankovic. Beard Out part of the
- 22:36Odd Good Media Network. All ry Man, Welcome back. It's time for
- 22:51game two. Lauren and Stevie are up one point to zero, but Game
- 22:55twos wereth two points. Yeah, this game is called Pitch Me Baby One
- 22:59More Time, an old favorite of ours. I got to thinking the other
- 23:03day that a lot of great eighties music just didn't get a great music video
- 23:06to go with it. Videos were only just becoming all the rage, but
- 23:10some songs got left out. And as I have lots of money and very
- 23:14little common sense, I'd like to buy the rights to these songs and release
- 23:18new videos for them. I want each of you to pitch me a classic
- 23:22eighty song that does not have an iconic music video, So if it has
- 23:26a music video, but if it's not. If it's not, then you
- 23:33are absolutely free and clear to use it and describe to me the music video
- 23:37that it deserves to have. So I'm basically giving you the chance to sort
- 23:41of direct your own music video. Here. Best pitch wins the game and
- 23:45earns two episode points for their team. Russ and Aggie, you guys are
- 23:51behind, So I'll give you the choice again. Do you want to go
- 23:52first or second? Oh? Well, go first again, all right?
- 23:57And which of the two of you would like to go first? Yeah?
- 24:03I would love to hear yours first. I am very curious myself okay.
- 24:10Yeah, So my pitch for a perfect new iconic music video is Madonna's Into
- 24:18the Groove where she's trying to seduce a carpenter while he's busy painstakingly grouting her
- 24:26floor. So the end of the groove is it works on two levels.
- 24:40Yeah, I see that. I see that mostly floor level. Oh gosh,
- 24:52okay, and that's you don't have any like special I mean, she
- 24:55just dances around him and he just increasingly gets more agitated throughout the video.
- 25:00He's absolutely not into it. No, he's trying to do his job that
- 25:03he's paid for, and she's like trying to seduce him. Like it's like
- 25:06a really bad porno videos that there's no sex. It's just an angry dude
- 25:10leaving after the job's done. Okay, it's just like you'll get a bill.
- 25:18I mean genuinely, it's it would be iconic. I guess I wouldn't
- 25:26have seen that coming from why she didd weird al yeah, drug lord,
- 25:37it's true, But to put herself in that position where she's getting rejected,
- 25:42I don't think she would go for that, but maybe I'm wrong. Okay,
- 25:47So Russ, what have you got? Can you top that I think
- 25:51you might be a I don't know top like for real, Like I literally
- 25:55sat and thought for a while about like trying to figure out something funny to
- 25:57do, and then ended up settling on something serious, like and I'm being
- 26:02serious, is not at all going to be funny. So I don't know
- 26:06if I'm gonna like lose points for not being funny, but I think it
- 26:07would be a hell of the video for a great song the song Everybody Wants
- 26:11to Rule the World by Tears for Fears as video did not get a good
- 26:17video at all, Like it's just kind of there, but I think it
- 26:21ties into you can tie the video into something you had mentioned earlier today on
- 26:26this show, and where people all want to sit around and like just share
- 26:30their own opinions on social media or like go to news sites that agree with
- 26:33them already, and like not actually hear what anybody else is having to say.
- 26:38So I think you could pick like a very poignant, like socially based
- 26:41video showing like the difference between people who like go out and you know,
- 26:45like touch grass and talk to other people and see other people's points of view
- 26:49as opposed to just sitting on a screen clicking on something that you already agree
- 26:52with. So that to me, and again, I'm like not trying to
- 26:56bring anything down and be like I'm going to be socially conscious, but like
- 27:00I really do think that because it's a hell of a song. I think
- 27:02if you did the right video clip for it, like it would be a
- 27:03hit. Again. Yeah, yeah, that is powerful. That is that
- 27:08is a hot idea that is gonna be hard to beat. I wish I
- 27:15didn't make a joke. Fucking well, this is a comedy podcast, but
- 27:22that was that was damn every damn good. Russ, very good. Let's
- 27:30see if Lauren and cebe Ken top that. Which one of the two of
- 27:33you would like to go first speaking about jokes? Should it be me or
- 27:37you gotta? Mine's not serious either, so I don't care, No,
- 27:42you can go first. Story good, Okay, thank you. So I
- 27:47would like to do a video for this song Edge of seventeen by Stevie Nicks.
- 27:51And it has a video, but it's not it's just a live performance
- 27:53video. There's nothing special about it. Yeah, well yeah yeah, and
- 27:57so it is what it is. I would like to do a video that
- 28:00takes every lyric of this song. Literally. So, for instance, just
- 28:07like the White wing Dove, there's birds, just a lot of birds,
- 28:11a lot of birds, and then they go ooh baby. So then you
- 28:14show a baby baby, then a bird, then a baby, and then
- 28:21there's a there's a verse in the The bridge of the song goes, well,
- 28:25the clouds never expect it when it rains, but the sea changes colors,
- 28:29so it's starting to rain. Then you've got a whole bunch of clouds
- 28:30going off. Fuck, it's raining. And then and then and then bird
- 28:38baby bird baby, oh baby bird bird baby birds and hot, thank you?
- 28:48Here's where's my credit card? Here? This one? Wow, that's
- 28:52fantastic. That was freaking marvelous. Okay, Stevie, what do you not
- 29:00as good as that? But here's something at least, guys right, Okay,
- 29:04So this song actually never had a music video at all, and it
- 29:07really should have. It's Whitney Houston's Love Will Save the Day. There was
- 29:11no official video made. It was obviously like cuts from, like you guys
- 29:15said, some concerts and things. So as she as the lyrics actually start
- 29:21out, she talks about the craziness or whatnot that's within her and stuff.
- 29:23But she's walking through a city with people being people man like, ignoring the
- 29:29ones that need help and stuff, and then they keep showing like crime and
- 29:32shit, right, and then the craziness starts, changing Whitney Man into her
- 29:37superhero alter ego Love to Save the Day. And then she goes through like
- 29:44fixing this city with like positivity and love and shit man, and it like
- 29:48flows so good. Was like, here's this all darkness and she's like no,
- 29:53and then bam, Love to Save the Day man, and then she
- 29:56just like just like hooks people up and shit helps hand out sandwiches. Love
- 30:08saves the day and gives you a man. Uh. Yeah, No,
- 30:18there's lots to love about all these pitches. Uh, that's the first time
- 30:22I've heard that so long. That the funniest pitch bar Nune is is Laurens.
- 30:27That is that is so funny, But the best pitch is Russ's.
- 30:33Yeah, because that would be a phenomenal music video, and I would genuinely
- 30:37love to see that. I mean, I would love to see all these
- 30:40but I mean in terms of like, in terms of like best pitch that
- 30:45is such a great idea that I think it should actually be done. Yeah,
- 30:52I want that. I still want that. We can probably do that
- 30:56ourselves though, baby yeah, just put it on YouTube, just YouTube,
- 31:03I get in trouble, all right. Well, that is going to be
- 31:07two points to Russ and Agi, so it is two points to one.
- 31:11They've taken the lead, but will they hold it? Game three is worth
- 31:18three points, and that game is coming up right after this. We interrupt
- 31:30this program to bring you a newsplash Michael Jackson's ghost scene out a Yankees game,
- 31:37Cinnamon Toast Crunch now with a shrimp in every bite. Lil Uzi Vert's
- 31:41head Diamond has been sold on the dark Web. Stories like this and more

- 32:19It's time for game three. Game three is the Rules of the Game eighties
- 32:22music edition. Everybody loves Rules of Gay. I don't know if I should
- 32:27cheer or say boot to you right now? Okay, don't you enjoy rules
- 32:32that it earns? All right, everybody knows the rules correct? No,
- 32:38what the rule? Of course not. That's the whole point. Our players
- 32:42are going to play a game that they don't know the rules to. As
- 32:45they play, they will earn points. But, and this is a twist,
- 32:49if any player can guess the rules of the game before the game ends,
- 32:52they'll earn a bonus of ten points and then continue playing. Oh.
- 32:58At the end of the game, the team with the most points wins and
- 33:00earns three episode points. So, uh, Lauren and Stevie, you are
- 33:07now behind. Would you like to go first or second? Second? How
- 33:14do you feel about that? Yeah? Okay, we go on from the
- 33:16or the second, the back nine. I feel like we can be a
- 33:19solid number two. Yeah, well you're a solid number one. Russ.
- 33:22You guys are going the first problem now I gotta see Russ. Give me
- 33:35a word any That is one point for Russ and Augie, good job,
- 33:47Lauren, me give me a word love. Love. That is seven points.
- 34:00How much How many points was any one? Okay? Uh, Augie,
- 34:07give me a word you you? That is twelve points. I know
- 34:19how to play this game. I don't know how to Stevie. Uh Park
- 34:27m h Park zero points? Of course. Sorry. It's like he sometimes
- 34:37deliberately shits on you. Definitely don't know these are the real rules, or
- 34:43if he's just messing with me you we'll never know, you know. All
- 34:45right, we are back to Russ. Give me another word? Way w
- 34:51a why way is worth one point, Lauren, Me me me is worth
- 35:04six points. I must said that we're doing okay, uh, Augie like
- 35:15like like is worth three points. Uh, Stevie pay p a y pay
- 35:28zero okay? Uh huh sure zero uh Russ dance dance dances worth zero points.
- 35:46So it's not just me, Lauren. Yeah, but you probably thought
- 35:52of that word. That was the next one, Lauren says, feel zero
- 36:00points. Do do it's five points, Stevie, h two two? Uh
- 36:22do two two is worth seven points? Ogie, what was your last word?
- 36:30Again? Sorry? Do do? Okay? Thank you? Russ watch
- 36:40watch zero points Lauren. I like the I as in just you know the
- 36:52letter the capital letter I, Lauren. That is thirty nine points thirty nine
- 37:10yes, uh, Augie, what I need you to give me a word?
- 37:19Oh no, you were giving you the word what? Sorry? What
- 37:22is worth two points? Uh Stevie a a correct okay? Twenty three points.
- 37:40Russ, you're up us U s us zero points, Damn Lauren,
- 37:53mm hmm, but beaut but it is worth six points. Uh, and
- 38:15okay, we're back to Algie r A R e are zero points Stevie and
- 38:31A N T A N t H zero points. Yeah, Russ, we're
- 38:42back to you about and A N D and is worth Sorry, Hanne,
- 38:52I forgot to do this and is worth thirty eight points. It's no I,
- 38:58but it's close, it's very close. We're back to Lauren, why
- 39:06because I asked, Oh, you mean the question why w h y zero
- 39:10points zero? Okay, I should point out we're just over the halfway point.
- 39:20Uh. Augie waiting waiting zero points. Steebee tie t I E tie
- 39:40zero points, Russ down down Uh zero points hmmm, Lauren big big zero
- 40:00points. Uh mm hmm. Aug Eastern Yes, yes again, thriller,
- 40:13thriller, Jesus Christ zero points. So it is what I thought it was.
- 40:22They might have an idea of what they're doing Stevie music music zero points.
- 40:30No no idea what we're doing. All right? Back to Russ and
- 40:37then you stepped on it. Round mm hmmm, uh sorry did you say
- 40:43round or around round not okay, So round is zero Lauren round around twenty
- 40:57points. Mm hmm okay, So back to Augie. Spin spin is worth
- 41:17zero points. It was neither. Yes, that's one of us thought of
- 41:24it. Uh Stevie your ice ice zero points? What the frick man?
- 41:32Yeah, I don't know what it is anymore. I had an idea and
- 41:36it wasn't. Uh Russ more m O r e more two points for that.
- 41:49Lauren heart heart is in the body part that is worth six points.
- 42:01Okay, uh Ugie. Brain is in the thing that worked in here right
- 42:17now. Brain is zero points. Yeah, uh Stevie top top yeah,
- 42:29top is zero points. Yeah, Russ soul s o u l soul is
- 42:37zero points. Uh and Lauren turn turn turn is eighteen points. Uh Ugie
- 43:08bright bright bright is eight points. Uh Stevie, give give give a zero.
- 43:34All right, this is going to be your last pair of guesses.
- 43:37Each one of you gets to give one more word before the game ends.
- 43:40Russ, can I make it? Do we get a penal penalization if I
- 43:45guess what the rules are? Wrong? No? If you're wrong, you
- 43:49just get nothing and you can't guess again. Okay, I'm going to guess
- 43:52that this is the lyrics of total clips about it. That is correct.
- 43:57This is a ten I was about to say that if you didn't. If
- 44:02I was there, I was, Yeah, Just how many times? How
- 44:06many times has this damn song ponted our lives? In the last I'm the
- 44:10one who sounds like Bonnie Tyler. Now that you've correctly guessed and earned the
- 44:15ten point bonus, what is your word, sir? Eyes? Yep,
- 44:20eyes, I think that's a good choice. That is ten points. I
- 44:25don't think we're going to catch up to you. And Lauren your last word
- 44:31apart a part is worth eight points, and Augie your last word eclipse.
- 44:43I think that's a good choice. That's where six points. And Stevie,
- 44:47what do you think? Did we say every every is worth eighteen points?
- 45:00So at the conclusion of our game by a sixty point margin, it is
- 45:04Lauren and Stevie yea with one hundred and fifty eight in ninety eight and yes
- 45:10and yes. In case it wasn't obvious, the points were how many times
- 45:15that word appears in the lyrics of the song? Yep? I think more
- 45:19times? Very nice. I spent I spent an hour, Oh my god,
- 45:25thankfully. I had a program alphabetized the words for me, and then
- 45:29I just counted on that one. I counted each one individually, but yeah,
- 45:34just sorted everything for me. So it wasn't like but I mean,
- 45:36this list goes on for quite some ways. There are a lot of different
- 45:39words than this. I think you guys got almost all the big hitters,
- 45:43though. I was the biggest of thirty nine, followed by and at thirty
- 45:46eight was twenty three, around was twenty, every was eighteen, little,
- 45:54which nobody said was eight now now which nobody's said would have been twenty four
- 46:01of just of was sixteen, the twenty seven, then twenty and yeah,
- 46:12those were all the big hitters. Aside from that, you got them all,
- 46:14including you, which was twelve. But yeah, well done, well
- 46:17done. That went as I was hoping it would go that Well, you
- 46:22guys did figure it out towards the end, which that last bit when I'm
- 46:25like, wait, so now you know how it works, and now you
- 46:28got to pick the words that actually give you the last I was looking at
- 46:30all the big, big number of points, I'm like, I'm like,
- 46:31wait a second, one of those words have together. I'm like, wait,
- 46:36yeah, bright between bright is what got it? Yeah? For me,
- 46:40I was my brain. It was initially on Turn the Beat Around.
- 46:45Yeah, and Lauren, you can how much you delighted me when you mentioned
- 46:50the song at the very start of the show. At some point Steve and
- 46:54I both definitely thought it was like we mis spin around. Come on that
- 47:00that is the quintessential eighties song, right, You almost can't get more eighties
- 47:05than that song? Right? It fantastic? So with four points to two,
- 47:12our winners are Lauren and Stevie Wrap. That was awesome. I was
- 47:20a good guesser, but not good enough. Well again, you were.
- 47:24You were handicapped from the off, so I apologize my apologies. I was
- 47:29born in the nineties and bustly handicapped. You still have your youth and your
- 47:37joint stone ache when it rains, so yeah, oh my god, join
- 47:43when it doesn't rain. I have to thank our music experts, both of
- 47:47which brought their a game today and played brilliantly. Lauren and Russ from the
- 47:52Infectious Proutic Job and beard Olt podcast. Where where would you like people to
- 48:00go to find you? Aside from just searching for infectious groove on YouTube,
- 48:06which I think is your preferred way of getting people to find your your YouTube
- 48:08channel. Yeah, yeah, you can find his YouTube the our YouTube channel
- 48:13there, and I think in every video there is a link to the beard
- 48:16Up podcast link tree, So that's probably a very easy way to find the
- 48:19beard Out Podcast. But you can also just go to beard out podcast dot
- 48:22com. Right now, I'm deep in the middle of doing a fortieth anniversary
- 48:27rundown of all the tracks on the weird Al Yankovic in three D album.
- 48:30Yeah, so that has been a tremendous amount of fun. Yeah, I
- 48:35imagine so, And the beard Out Podcast is absolutely worth a listen even if
- 48:40you're not a fan of weird Oot. But it helps. Yeah, yeah,
- 48:45absolutely helps. But Lauren's funny and charming enough on her own that she
- 48:49will bring you into the fold. I guarantee any fun YouTube videos on their
- 48:53way or that you that you're excited about. We actually just started a new
- 49:00series because if anybody's familiar with their channel at all, we always try and
- 49:04keep everything positive. And I stumbled across a YouTube channel about video games that
- 49:10was called What's so great about where like instead of you know, you see
- 49:15a lot of YouTube videos that are like, yeah, so Olda's overrated.
- 49:17You know, this guy does these channels and all the videos he does is
- 49:20like, what's so great about this Selda game or that Super Mario game or
- 49:22whatever? He points out all the good things about it. And I was
- 49:25like, holy crap, that would be a great series. So in the
- 49:27first video that we did, we totally gave credit. We were like,
- 49:30we totally got this idea from this other channel, Go see them about video
- 49:31games. But we just started that series. And what's cool for us is
- 49:36we can go in a million different directions with it. So it could be
- 49:39you know, what's so great about this band or what's so great about this
- 49:43band member or this song by the sand or this album or whatever. Yeah,
- 49:46and we're basically just you know, listing off the reasons why we think
- 49:51that artist or song or band member or whoever are great. And you know,
- 49:55again, instead of being like, yeah, so Joal Perry's overrated,
- 49:59you know, we're yeah, he's great. You know, I would think
- 50:04it was more than enough ammunition to make a what's so great about eighties music?
- 50:07Episode? Yeah? Yeah, we just we did one. I was
- 50:10what's so great about John Bermuda Schwartz weird El's drummer and I posted about it
- 50:15in one of the weird al groups that I'm in, and John Bermuda Schwartz
- 50:20saw it and commented on the post about it, which I thought was very
- 50:22cool. I was like, yeah, you see, you know we think
- 50:24we're that you're awesome. I'm sure you appreciate the love for sure, as
- 50:30we appreciate you guys coming on and doing goofy things with us. Yet again,

- 54:05Why because fuck you, That's why, bitches. Because it's not a tuma.
- 54:15I was struggling to think of a song from the eighties. It starts
- 54:19it because I can't say all that comes to mind is the Beatles because I'm
- 54:24like, oh, not quite the same thing. No, I can't think
- 54:27of it. It's like I skipped the seventies and eighties as far Like.
- 54:30The first song for whatever reason that comes to my mind was because is because
- 54:34You Love Me by Celindion And I was gonna say that and I was like,
- 54:39no, that's got to be for sure mid nineties because you love me? Yeah,
