- 0:07Speaker 1: Boulet Cap Podcast special guests in here my guy J Mills.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Welcome back, sir, always Always. First episode was legendary. Yeah, man,
- 0:16Speaker 1: I got in a lot of trouble for some shit
- 0:17Speaker 1: that I didn't even say, but I guess I said
- 0:19Speaker 1: it and it got spun a different way. I had
- 0:22Speaker 1: some media training since, Like, June, what did you get
- 0:25Speaker 1: in trouble for saying I'm not gonna say it because
- 0:29Speaker 1: I might get in trouble again, did you? Well? You
- 0:32Speaker 1: talked about a lot that media training right there, boy,
- 0:35Speaker 1: I'm good you talked about a lot. Nah, you know,
- 0:37Speaker 1: just the whole when I when we was having a
- 0:41Speaker 1: rap albums discussion and we were talking about like the
- 0:44Speaker 1: j and the Kanye and the writing stuff. If we're
- 0:47Speaker 1: gonna say Quentin Miller did this for so and so,
- 0:49Speaker 1: then why people don't say this for this not I
- 0:53Speaker 1: say it, Like I'm smart enough to know Kanye West
- 0:57Speaker 1: doesn't right for jay Z. We're all smart enough to
- 1:00Speaker 1: know that. But like, once the interview came out, I looked,
- 1:03Speaker 1: I was like, oh shit, I said a lot of
- 1:06Speaker 1: shit in that interview. I put a lot of put
- 1:08Speaker 1: a lot of respect on people names in that interview.
- 1:11Speaker 1: But that wasn't the that wasn't the focal point. That's
- 1:14Speaker 1: not that's not what we're gonna get. We're gonna you
- 1:16Speaker 1: said basically, in metaphorical terms, you basically said this person
- 1:20Speaker 1: rights for this person. So I had to kind of
- 1:23Speaker 1: just eat that. I ain't jump in the comments and
- 1:24Speaker 1: go back and forth. He I was like, I get it.
- 1:27Speaker 1: No bite back from any of the young money stuff
- 1:30Speaker 1: you shared. Nah nah nah. I did feel like I
- 1:35Speaker 1: did feel like Wayne had kind of like took a
- 1:37Speaker 1: shot at me when he said, uh I could uh
- 1:43Speaker 1: I could flip a J Mills to a fucking Meek Meal.
- 1:45Speaker 1: When I first heard it, I was like, hold on,
- 1:49Speaker 1: what that's about. But then I thought about it, I
- 1:52Speaker 1: was like, nah, I know Wayne, that's not it's not that,
- 1:54Speaker 1: it's not really I didn't hear this. I didn't hear that.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Bar what was this one of his new verses? I
- 1:58Speaker 1: think it was on his latest Journey put out. But
- 2:00Speaker 1: then I'm smart enough to know Wayne, and it's like,
- 2:03Speaker 1: when I thought about it, it is like, even if
- 2:05Speaker 1: that is what he said, I'm not mad at that,
- 2:08Speaker 1: Like because when you met me at I was like
- 2:10Speaker 1: a J Mils and you took me and took me
- 2:12Speaker 1: to another level. M so even, and I'm gonna keep
- 2:17Speaker 1: it real even if Wayne was to dis me. I'm
- 2:19Speaker 1: gonna keep it real just where I'm at in my
- 2:23Speaker 1: life right now, and being like respectful on some ship
- 2:26Speaker 1: like you gave me like a platform, you like kind
- 2:27Speaker 1: of help rebrand me. I don't even think I would.
- 2:31Speaker 1: I don't even think I would go back at him.
- 2:34Speaker 1: That's how to respect for him. I just would be like,
- 2:36Speaker 1: h you got that off. It was good light of
- 2:38Speaker 1: blown up. Man. It's not like you hate me. It's
- 2:41Speaker 1: not like you ain't got no love for me no more.
- 2:43Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. So where I feed into
- 2:45Speaker 1: it like that, I still speak to him. I just
- 2:47Speaker 1: uh spoke to Mac though. They shot out to Mac
- 2:50Speaker 1: Man shout the gutta gotta good. Wayne's birthday was Yeah, happy, happy, belated, happy,
- 2:56Speaker 1: belated dawayne man. No another another lap around the sun.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Always good to see somebody make it to another year.
- 3:02Speaker 1: So yeah, well there it is. Yeah. I was like,
- 3:04Speaker 1: I was like, man, I wonder how this is gonna
- 3:06Speaker 1: some of the stories you shared with some man you
- 3:09Speaker 1: wanted us to remember when I hit you when you
- 3:11Speaker 1: announced you was leaving the station, I was like, yo, bro,
- 3:14Speaker 1: did I get you in any trouble with the interview?
- 3:15Speaker 1: Like I had to hit him. I was like, yo,
- 3:17Speaker 1: did I say anything that got you in trouble at
- 3:18Speaker 1: the station? He was like, nah, I got some whole
- 3:20Speaker 1: other shit in the works right now. I don't even
- 3:22Speaker 1: worry about it. I was like, all right, I'm just
- 3:24Speaker 1: I'm back on the station. That let me go, except
- 3:27Speaker 1: for I'm doing it in my termore. Man, congratulations on that, man,
- 3:30Speaker 1: congratulations on that. Yeah. No, no, no, that was just
- 3:34Speaker 1: you know, some corporate budget cut bullshit. You know that happens.
- 3:37Speaker 1: It happens, man, in any business. It happens entertainment specifically
- 3:41Speaker 1: radio specifically, everyone's you know, cutting budgets. How you feel
- 3:44Speaker 1: about being back on on the station. I mean it's cool.
- 3:49Speaker 1: You know, I launched the show and then they picked
- 3:51Speaker 1: it up as an affiliate. So it's dope to be
- 3:53Speaker 1: able to be like, hey, well, like I am on
- 3:56Speaker 1: the station, but I don't work for them. So I'm
- 3:59Speaker 1: on every night, but I don't work for them. So
- 4:03Speaker 1: the good parts about being on the station are there.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Some of the cool relationships I still have I mean
- 4:08Speaker 1: I never lost any relationships at the station. Just now,
- 4:12Speaker 1: I kind of the shit that I don't like to
- 4:14Speaker 1: do or that I wouldn't like about dealing with, you know,
- 4:18Speaker 1: having like all staff meetings and blogging and shit and
- 4:22Speaker 1: like stuff I don't want to do. I don't have
- 4:24Speaker 1: to do any of it. I just do me. So
- 4:26Speaker 1: you kind of just got your own lane. You can
- 4:28Speaker 1: just rock lily. Yeah, I'm on the shows all over
- 4:31Speaker 1: the country. So I do one show every day and
- 4:33Speaker 1: it runs in a bunch of markets all over the country.
- 4:36Speaker 1: So did you have that same leverage your last lap
- 4:39Speaker 1: at the station now, Because when I the last time
- 4:43Speaker 1: I worked at the station, you know, I moved from
- 4:47Speaker 1: I was in Tampa and then I went Tampa to
- 4:49Speaker 1: LA and a little pit stop in Phoenix. Nah, No,
- 4:54Speaker 1: of course not. No. I mean, you know, they gave
- 4:56Speaker 1: me a great opportunity and coming to LA changing my life,
- 4:58Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So yeah, but like I
- 5:01Speaker 1: was already thinking, like when I was in the pandemic
- 5:04Speaker 1: and I was able to like not have to go
- 5:05Speaker 1: to the radio station every day and we were voicing
- 5:08Speaker 1: our show from home because everything was shut down. It
- 5:11Speaker 1: gave me so much flexibility to like get so much
- 5:14Speaker 1: other money. And yeah, and and and congrats on the
- 5:18Speaker 1: on the on the situation. Man, yeah, so you know
- 5:21Speaker 1: it's just it was already something I wanted to do,
- 5:23Speaker 1: so it worked out. Man, and doc Winner. Shout out
- 5:25Speaker 1: to doc docs a real one. AO is a real one.
- 5:28Speaker 1: You know. They didn't let me go because they wanted
- 5:30Speaker 1: too clearly they brought me back, so you know, shouted
- 5:33Speaker 1: what was good with the with the with the artists
- 5:35Speaker 1: you're working with? Man, Oh yeah, yeah, you know, we
- 5:37Speaker 1: got a little label that we're we have ready set
- 5:40Speaker 1: little label. I mean it's little right now, but we
- 5:43Speaker 1: just put a record out that's doing well with T
- 5:46Speaker 1: Pain feature as alexis feature in T Pain. So yeah, man,
- 5:50Speaker 1: were working you want to you want to know some
- 5:51Speaker 1: funny ship. I'm gonna just let y'all know how good
- 5:54Speaker 1: I am. Right, You see how I just went into
- 5:56Speaker 1: journalists j mode real quick. I just like I just
- 5:59Speaker 1: started interviewing him. He doesn't even realize that this whole
- 6:02Speaker 1: interview I've been interviewing him. Just have some journalists stuff
- 6:07Speaker 1: coming down the pipeline. Oh man. I just been in
- 6:10Speaker 1: some media training since June and people have been telling
- 6:13Speaker 1: me how to work this little media thing. So why'd
- 6:15Speaker 1: you get media training because of our interview? Definitely They're like, yo, definitely,
- 6:23Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you what happened. I went to Miami.
- 6:25Speaker 1: I went to Miami right. I was out there for
- 6:28Speaker 1: my boy birthday and I was kicking. I was actually
- 6:33Speaker 1: out there for Bido birthday shot at the bad I
- 6:35Speaker 1: was out there for his birthday and we pulled up
- 6:38Speaker 1: on Norri. Anytime I'm in Miami, I always pull up
- 6:40Speaker 1: on NORRII kick it with him, chop it up with him.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Never really take pictures, post videos and shit like that.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Just kick it with them. Same thing I was saying
- 6:48Speaker 1: with you, like I've known you for years and I
- 6:50Speaker 1: never sent you a clean version of no records because
- 6:53Speaker 1: my relationship ain't like he can you play this on
- 6:55Speaker 1: the radio? Can the radio? And Noori was like, you
- 6:58Speaker 1: know what happened at the boutlet, Kevin. It was a
- 7:00Speaker 1: great interview. He said, you just didn't learn how to
- 7:04Speaker 1: create your own clickbait yet. He said, when you learn
- 7:08Speaker 1: how to create your own clickbait, you're gonna be a
- 7:10Speaker 1: beast with this shit. He said, you give them too much.
- 7:13Speaker 1: You don't give them a chance to ask you nothing said,
- 7:16Speaker 1: you know what, you're right. And then when I, you know,
- 7:20Speaker 1: got this new situation, I had to learn how to
- 7:23Speaker 1: like shut the fuck up because I'm working with other
- 7:26Speaker 1: people and I'm in a writer's room and it's like,
- 7:29Speaker 1: so I'm bringing ideas, but it's like four or five
- 7:31Speaker 1: other people with ideas. So you got to learn how
- 7:35Speaker 1: to get your shit off. Get your shit off quick,
- 7:36Speaker 1: shut the fuck up, and then kickback. So I would
- 7:39Speaker 1: just wanted to interview you real quick. Wait, so what
- 7:41Speaker 1: do you so? Can you talk about? Can you talk
- 7:43Speaker 1: about anything yet? Yeah, it's it's just some media, some
- 7:46Speaker 1: media shit, a new show. It's a upstart show. You
- 7:49Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. I don't want to say that much,
- 7:51Speaker 1: but it's an upstart show, some new shit, something that
- 7:54Speaker 1: never been done before. So it's not like I can't
- 7:58Speaker 1: go to nobody know what I'm saying, Like if I
- 8:00Speaker 1: really wanted to, I can't really talk to Norri and
- 8:04Speaker 1: get no insight on it. Like if I wanted to
- 8:06Speaker 1: hit Gilly, I couldn't hit. If I wanted to hit
- 8:09Speaker 1: Joe Button, I couldn't If I wanted to hit you.
- 8:11Speaker 1: So it's gonna be gonna be a podcast or TV shop.
- 8:14Speaker 1: It's a show, you know what I'm saying. It's not
- 8:16Speaker 1: a reality show. I'm not going on the reality show
- 8:18Speaker 1: or nothing. It's like, are you hosting the White Rapper
- 8:20Speaker 1: shows Resurrection, I'm hosting, but I'm not. I'm not doing
- 8:24Speaker 1: those ship like it's sign that never been done. It's
- 8:26Speaker 1: some I'm signed. I'm excited to do. I'm excited for
- 8:28Speaker 1: the people to see and I'm gonna let them announce
- 8:31Speaker 1: it and you know, do the media thing with it.
- 8:33Speaker 1: But I'm excited. It's some dope shit. Man, it's some
- 8:34Speaker 1: dope shit. I'm excited to be able to do something
- 8:37Speaker 1: that's not so I don't have to be like when
- 8:42Speaker 1: we was talking about the Nods ship. Nads don't really
- 8:45Speaker 1: have to put out no music right now, you know
- 8:48Speaker 1: what I'm saying. But the fact that he is, let
- 8:52Speaker 1: you know, love his ship, yeah, I mean I love it.
- 8:56Speaker 1: He's doing it for the money. Both King's diseases are.
- 8:59Speaker 1: I actually think this one is much better than they both.
- 9:01Speaker 1: They both dope. They both classic, man, and it just
- 9:04Speaker 1: feel good in the way. In that way. I don't
- 9:08Speaker 1: know about a clap. I mean, that's that's simply they're
- 9:11Speaker 1: both really fucking good in their own way and that way.
- 9:13Speaker 1: I don't I don't want to get up here and
- 9:14Speaker 1: start comparing this album to this album, because that's how
- 9:17Speaker 1: you get in trouble, throwing that sea word around. I
- 9:19Speaker 1: don't know. We'll see shout out to hit Boy, that's
- 9:22Speaker 1: my brother man, shout out the hit Boy, Shout out
- 9:24Speaker 1: to hit Boy him. Hit Boy and NAS got a
- 9:26Speaker 1: real got a. Their dynamic is insane dynamic. It's great.
- 9:31Speaker 1: And the thing is is like hit Boy is a
- 9:32Speaker 1: West Coast guy, but he'd be getting in that bag
- 9:34Speaker 1: man on that on he's Yeah, he's a go. I
- 9:37Speaker 1: think hit Boys like one of the grades of all time.
- 9:41Speaker 1: His range is insane, the type of shit he could do, definitely, definitely.
- 9:44Speaker 1: I got a new project I called Don't Call Now.
- 9:47Speaker 1: I pulled up players some joints early before it came out. Yeah,
- 9:50Speaker 1: let me know you was fucking with that. That that
- 9:52Speaker 1: made me feel why is that title important? I kind
- 9:59Speaker 1: of started recording Don't Call Now, I'll probably say before
- 10:06Speaker 1: the summer. Yeah, but I kind of got caught up
- 10:09Speaker 1: on this new situation that I got right and then
- 10:12Speaker 1: I was at that point where it's like, do you
- 10:15Speaker 1: really even want to put this shit out right now?
- 10:18Speaker 1: You want to just focus on closing this deal and
- 10:20Speaker 1: right over here? And I did. I did that. I
- 10:23Speaker 1: did everything that I had to do handling that all
- 10:25Speaker 1: through the summer. So that's kind of why I was
- 10:27Speaker 1: just on some low shit handling that. But it's still
- 10:29Speaker 1: something in me that's like, YO, put this, you know,
- 10:32Speaker 1: write this, you gotta finish this song. And it's like, nah,
- 10:34Speaker 1: you really don't really just chill and just get this
- 10:38Speaker 1: bag right now. But it's something in me that's like yo.
- 10:41Speaker 1: So then I had this moment where I'm like, damn,
- 10:44Speaker 1: you figured it out, my niggas. You you you figured
- 10:47Speaker 1: out what's work, what's gonna work for you right now?
- 10:50Speaker 1: And it's like, damn, you don't even got a manager,
- 10:54Speaker 1: you don't even got an agent, you don't got a publicist,
- 10:57Speaker 1: you don't got a PR person, you don't got none
- 10:59Speaker 1: of that. So you went out and you closed this
- 11:02Speaker 1: deal dolo. So can't nobody say but if it wasn't
- 11:08Speaker 1: for me, NA, everybody who could say, if it wasn't
- 11:11Speaker 1: for me, when it come to me, I done lost
- 11:14Speaker 1: all that shit right, and I lost all that shit already,
- 11:18Speaker 1: So anything that you could say, if it wasn't for me,
- 11:21Speaker 1: God took that away from me. I had to get
- 11:22Speaker 1: all this shit back on my own. So don't call now.
- 11:25Speaker 1: There's no reason for you to hit me up now
- 11:27Speaker 1: because I don't need anything from you now. So if
- 11:30Speaker 1: you fuck with me, cool, but you don't got to
- 11:34Speaker 1: hit me and be like yo, yo bro. Now. It
- 11:37Speaker 1: was wild times I needed that, yo bro. I ain't
- 11:39Speaker 1: come out here and be like yo, my mental health
- 11:41Speaker 1: was bad. I needed nah. You know, you got kids,
- 11:44Speaker 1: got my fiance, I got my mom's, got my b
- 11:47Speaker 1: But it was times where you feel like damn, ain't
- 11:49Speaker 1: nobody fucking with me? Like damn, what's the conversation when
- 11:51Speaker 1: my name get born? It was times where I wondered
- 11:54Speaker 1: that you know what I'm saying. There was times where
- 11:57Speaker 1: it's niggas that you done did millions of verses for
- 11:59Speaker 1: us because when you was on young money, you was
- 12:01Speaker 1: on tour and way ain't probably ain't even want you
- 12:03Speaker 1: still entertaining that PIF projects and shit like that, and
- 12:06Speaker 1: you still throwing niggas on your ship. You getting on
- 12:08Speaker 1: Niggashit but then when your ball kind of slowed up
- 12:11Speaker 1: on the field, like, yo, bro, can you can you
- 12:16Speaker 1: up post this for me? And for a while you
- 12:18Speaker 1: do it, and then you be like, hold on you
- 12:21Speaker 1: you asking me to post some shit for you that
- 12:23Speaker 1: you ain't asked me to get on, right, that's I
- 12:26Speaker 1: can't even see myself doing that shit. So now it's like, nah,
- 12:30Speaker 1: I don't call now man. I figured this shit out,
- 12:32Speaker 1: and I ain't really pressed to get on get on
- 12:35Speaker 1: your mixtape or get on your album no more, and
- 12:38Speaker 1: you shouldn't be pressed to get on mine, because it's
- 12:40Speaker 1: blatantly clear that it's different. But fuck, maybe I'm just
- 12:45Speaker 1: at that point in my career where it's different and
- 12:47Speaker 1: it's not what it was with a lot of people.
- 12:50Speaker 1: It's time for new relationships, it's time for new money.
- 12:53Speaker 1: I don't handle you like, I ain't really got no
- 12:55Speaker 1: history like that with you, so I ain't about to
- 12:56Speaker 1: pull up and wrap on your show. And it's like, nah,
- 12:59Speaker 1: fuck with you, Like you gave me valuable information at
- 13:03Speaker 1: a time where you don't have to. You could have
- 13:06Speaker 1: just said, yo, come wrap on my ship and let
- 13:08Speaker 1: me get some views up. It's like, now you know
- 13:10Speaker 1: what I think you should do, but you know it
- 13:11Speaker 1: would be dope. I think you should blah blah blah. Right,
- 13:15Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And I value that ship.
- 13:17Speaker 1: So that's why I don't. I don't mind coming doing
- 13:19Speaker 1: this type ship, this ship that I'm doing right here.
- 13:21Speaker 1: I know my interviews a monumental. I know I could talk.
- 13:24Speaker 1: I know I got wisdom, I know I got jewels,
- 13:26Speaker 1: But now I'm at a point where I don't even
- 13:27Speaker 1: want to come talk to y'all. Now a lot of
- 13:30Speaker 1: y'all I don't. It's like we could have been did this.
- 13:32Speaker 1: We could I could have been came and wrapped and
- 13:35Speaker 1: I chopped it up, light up a blunt talk my ship.
- 13:38Speaker 1: But y'all don't want that until they announce what they
- 13:40Speaker 1: gonna announced. So that's real. Don't call now, man, I'm
- 13:44Speaker 1: I'm gonna start like even don't even congratulate me. It's
- 13:49Speaker 1: it is. It already attached to like a major streaming platform,
- 13:53Speaker 1: streaming platform, so like a Hulu and Netflix type specifically
- 14:00Speaker 1: streaming platform platform, huge film at a nice lot fire
- 14:07Speaker 1: rhythm and flow. Season two. I'm not a judge on anything,
- 14:16Speaker 1: you know, but shout out, shout out to my team,
- 14:18Speaker 1: Shout out to my partners. You know, I'm not going
- 14:21Speaker 1: to keep guessing. I'm pretty good at the guessing thing.
- 14:23Speaker 1: And I tell you, I'll tell you off the camera. Okay, okay, camera,
- 14:26Speaker 1: No that's big man. You know what we didn't talk about.
- 14:31Speaker 1: So you're from Harlem definitely? Uh, what were your thoughts
- 14:37Speaker 1: on the Locks dip Set versus. I know it's been
- 14:40Speaker 1: a while now, but I'm just curious. You know, obviously
- 14:44Speaker 1: Dipset being the biggest entity to ever represent that Harlem flag,
- 14:49Speaker 1: you know, what were your thoughts on what happened there?
- 14:52Speaker 1: I think I think with the dip set Locks Versus.
- 14:56Speaker 1: First of all, shout out to the Dipset, Shout out
- 14:58Speaker 1: to the Locks. What they did with the verses was
- 15:02Speaker 1: monumental because you never seen it like that. That shit
- 15:05Speaker 1: looked like a concert, definitely. You had never seen people
- 15:08Speaker 1: that close to the stage. You had never seen that
- 15:10Speaker 1: many people on the stage. You had never seen that
- 15:12Speaker 1: people around this sam or something. That shit was a
- 15:15Speaker 1: It was a real event. And in Harlem fashion, you know,
- 15:20Speaker 1: they had to show up fashion be late. You know.
- 15:22Speaker 1: The niggas from Yonkers was like, get your ass out here.
- 15:24Speaker 1: And they made it a show and it was entertaining
- 15:27Speaker 1: and I liked that, and I like the fact that
- 15:30Speaker 1: even through watching it, I was like, damn cams, they
- 15:32Speaker 1: pulling styles, pulling cam shoe and they took the bandanna
- 15:37Speaker 1: and threw it on the floor and then l's and
- 15:39Speaker 1: they was all in their face go uptown to Harlems,
- 15:42Speaker 1: and I'm like, I love it. But at the end
- 15:45Speaker 1: to see them be like, yo, we about to go
- 15:46Speaker 1: on tour. That did it. That did it for me.
- 15:50Speaker 1: It's like, oh, this they did this for the city,
- 15:53Speaker 1: they did this for the culture. But now that we
- 15:55Speaker 1: got that out the way. The sequencing for the songs
- 15:58Speaker 1: for dips that I think was we're gonna build up
- 16:02Speaker 1: the momentum. We're gonna start out with this this, and
- 16:05Speaker 1: then we're gonna get to this, and then we're gonna
- 16:07Speaker 1: get to this. And I think the locks was like, nah,
- 16:12Speaker 1: y'all forgot about this. Ain't nobody in the world you
- 16:15Speaker 1: know how to the kiss. But they did the back
- 16:17Speaker 1: and forth, back to back. Then they're going in the freestyles,
- 16:20Speaker 1: then they go I think that was I think to me,
- 16:22Speaker 1: it was that was like the showmanship and the performance
- 16:25Speaker 1: value of and even when you got going in over
- 16:29Speaker 1: who shot you? We gotta stand up. I gotta stand
- 16:31Speaker 1: up for Harlem. It was a few times where they
- 16:32Speaker 1: was like hold on, they wrapping over. Look, this is
- 16:35Speaker 1: real hip hop. We no vocals. It was a few
- 16:37Speaker 1: of them songs they had the vocals. But Addie, Addie Kiss,
- 16:40Speaker 1: Addie Kiss was in real form. I know that type
- 16:42Speaker 1: of vibe that he was on. That wasn't Jada drunk.
- 16:45Speaker 1: That was a different type. No, Jada was fucking lasered in,
- 16:48Speaker 1: but that was I'm getting It's the best, the best
- 16:51Speaker 1: versus ever good thing. I think. I think it was
- 16:55Speaker 1: the best app one ever. I think it it for me.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Before that, it was the Gucci uh geezy one, but
- 17:01Speaker 1: the Dipseid shit was way ahead. Look people, I'm sorry,
- 17:05Speaker 1: but I'm kind of in journalist j mode. So if
- 17:07Speaker 1: it feels like this is an interview of an interview
- 17:10Speaker 1: interview and it's just don't worry about it, because I
- 17:13Speaker 1: have questions that I like to ask people because that's
- 17:15Speaker 1: my that's my job now. So I like to ask
- 17:17Speaker 1: questions and get opinions. What did you think about the
- 17:20Speaker 1: jaw rule? Fat Joe Versus was speaking on verses I missed.
- 17:26Speaker 1: I probably missed wonderful. I probably missed like the first
- 17:30Speaker 1: ten minutes. I didn't see the whole thing, so I
- 17:32Speaker 1: don't know how it started. I thought that it seemed
- 17:38Speaker 1: as if the second half, I thought Joe came out
- 17:43Speaker 1: with a bunch of records that he thought were like bigger.
- 17:46Speaker 1: They were big, maybe like on the rhythm radio chart,
- 17:48Speaker 1: but they weren't like big like in the old shit
- 17:52Speaker 1: like he did the That's what I think. I think
- 17:54Speaker 1: for the most part, Johru controlled the battle, but I
- 17:56Speaker 1: do think Joe eight up for it at the end.
- 18:01Speaker 1: So I thought it was actually pretty close. I know,
- 18:04Speaker 1: everybody's like jaw War one. I was like, I don't know,
- 18:06Speaker 1: it was kind of close, like it was the sequencing
- 18:08Speaker 1: once again. It was Yeah, I think I think Fad
- 18:10Speaker 1: Joe ended it great. I think, like if we're talking
- 18:12Speaker 1: about like I think fad Joe won the fourth quarter
- 18:14Speaker 1: for sure, I just think, like, I don't know, I
- 18:18Speaker 1: just I'm not sure like what they thought was gonna happen,
- 18:23Speaker 1: because Fat Joe has obviously got radio records, but he's
- 18:25Speaker 1: also like a part of d I T C. He's
- 18:29Speaker 1: you know what I mean? And and to go against
- 18:30Speaker 1: Joe rule. Joe Rover really don't have that kind of pedigree,
- 18:34Speaker 1: so the kind of records that would have I would
- 18:35Speaker 1: have liked to have seen Joe really tap into Like
- 18:37Speaker 1: I don't think he did my lifestyle right, he did,
- 18:40Speaker 1: see I missed that part. But this is the thing.
- 18:41Speaker 1: You forget that jow was on Murder Green. You know
- 18:44Speaker 1: what I'm saying. You forget that job even had This
- 18:46Speaker 1: is the thing. It's only twenty records, So I missed
- 18:48Speaker 1: joa rule doing holla holl. I didn't see that. I
- 18:50Speaker 1: didn't see. I missed like a lot, to be honest.
- 18:53Speaker 1: But then once I started tuning in, I thought Fat
- 18:54Speaker 1: Joe was leaning into the Jada shit a little bit
- 18:56Speaker 1: too much. But it was cool. I mean, you know,
- 19:00Speaker 1: it was probably my least favorite verses so far, and
- 19:04Speaker 1: I love Fat Joe. I liked it. The versus thing
- 19:08Speaker 1: is the Versus thing is a little it was. There
- 19:11Speaker 1: was a point sometimes the matchups could be. There was
- 19:14Speaker 1: a point in time where I was like, this is
- 19:16Speaker 1: the worst versus battle ever. But then it started to
- 19:18Speaker 1: get better. In the I tweeted that I said, this
- 19:20Speaker 1: is the worst versus battle ever. I was glad to
- 19:22Speaker 1: see people be able to like remember like, oh ship,
- 19:27Speaker 1: y'all had some ship now Jose legend, fifty came through,
- 19:32Speaker 1: fifty fifty came through, and it's so it was much
- 19:36Speaker 1: of like a like damn because jo was like even
- 19:41Speaker 1: like him performing Clapback right, which was like one of
- 19:45Speaker 1: the best Scotts Store beaches ever Scott's story. But what's
- 19:48Speaker 1: crazy is when that song came out, even though it
- 19:52Speaker 1: was hard, no one gave a fuck. That was that
- 19:54Speaker 1: was it was over. It was already over. So he
- 19:58Speaker 1: put out even though clap Back that beat was crazy
- 20:01Speaker 1: and I'm a Josh Finn, Yeah, but like he he
- 20:04Speaker 1: performed flat back like it was a joint and everyone
- 20:06Speaker 1: and I'm like, yo, this beat was crazy. This song
- 20:08Speaker 1: was cool, but like no one gave a fuck when
- 20:11Speaker 1: this song came out and the beat came on in there.
- 20:14Speaker 1: You know. That's the thing about verses, It's like where's
- 20:16Speaker 1: it house that where's the presence? Where is like? Because
- 20:19Speaker 1: I felt that way about Jez and Gucci. I was like,
- 20:21Speaker 1: Jeezi got wait, but Gucci got a lot of records,
- 20:24Speaker 1: but Jiezi Records was bigger. That's what I thought. The bigger. Yeah,
- 20:27Speaker 1: I think record for Record, presidence, the presence of Gucci.
- 20:33Speaker 1: I think Gucci just came out disrespectful as fuck. We've
- 20:35Speaker 1: never seen that. Like, Gucci literally came out to me,
- 20:38Speaker 1: I killed you man, Like, what the fuck is going
- 20:40Speaker 1: on here? GEEZI record for Record, and I love Gucci,
- 20:44Speaker 1: And I know that in certain circles, most circles Gucci. No,
- 20:47Speaker 1: it could be Gucci, but I think in the versus
- 20:51Speaker 1: spectrum GIZI Washington. With that being said, it was close
- 20:55Speaker 1: because of the disrespect. We've never seen that disrespect before.
- 21:00Speaker 1: That was crazy. But Fat Joe Joe Rule, I'm a
- 21:04Speaker 1: huge Fat Joe fan. I think he's one of the
- 21:05Speaker 1: most slept on artists ever, like lyrically like, he's one
- 21:08Speaker 1: of my favorite artists. I just don't know. The first
- 21:11Speaker 1: album I had was Jealous Ones Envy, Like, I just
- 21:14Speaker 1: think some of those records he performed were cool, like
- 21:18Speaker 1: that ass up, face down record with Dre, Like, I
- 21:22Speaker 1: just don't think that record it was it was I
- 21:25Speaker 1: don't know if it was versus worthy, and I understand
- 21:29Speaker 1: the point he was trying to make. I still got red.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Sometimes sometimes the platform is so big, it's like, how
- 21:36Speaker 1: could I not how could I not bring my man out?
- 21:41Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. It's not even him bringing
- 21:45Speaker 1: dre out. I think he was trying to prove a
- 21:46Speaker 1: point that he still has current records that have been
- 21:48Speaker 1: coming out, but like some of those records might not
- 21:52Speaker 1: be the best fit for the platform of versus in
- 21:56Speaker 1: New York. How did you feel about how did you
- 22:00Speaker 1: feel about Fat Joe performing Well, I don't know performing
- 22:06Speaker 1: but playing the Pun record Twins. I don't think he
- 22:11Speaker 1: played a punk record. He wasn't on I don't. I
- 22:14Speaker 1: didn't see that part that had to be early. Did
- 22:17Speaker 1: he play because I I'm like, though, there's no way
- 22:20Speaker 1: he doesn't perform Twins. No, he did Twins and shot
- 22:25Speaker 1: him come out and do Pun's part. The thing about
- 22:27Speaker 1: Like Joe is like if it's I just I don't know, man,
- 22:32Speaker 1: I don't know if him. I guess when you see it,
- 22:34Speaker 1: Fat Joe verstar Wo makes sense, But I didn't think
- 22:36Speaker 1: it made a lot of sense. I think Fat Joe's
- 22:38Speaker 1: more like got a lot more like that real rap
- 22:42Speaker 1: ship that I'd like to you know, if he would
- 22:43Speaker 1: if he would have went up against Jadakiss, that would
- 22:45Speaker 1: have made sense, but Jada would have won, but it
- 22:48Speaker 1: would have made more sense to me because I'm gonna
- 22:50Speaker 1: look into the camera and I'm gonna say this, right,
- 22:53Speaker 1: who did Jada battle? This is a fast essay from
- 22:56Speaker 1: j Mills. Jada Kiss can not being versus anymore. There's
- 23:01Speaker 1: no I don't. I don't think any sort of way
- 23:04Speaker 1: that he's involved in versus. Remember how like on one
- 23:07Speaker 1: O six in Park they had to like retire bow
- 23:09Speaker 1: Wow Ship. It was like like, come on yo, this
- 23:12Speaker 1: is this is this doesn't even make sense. Yeah, mister
- 23:15Speaker 1: Park that I mean, Jadakiss is mister versus. So listen. Ever,
- 23:22Speaker 1: and then I knew a lot of people who thought
- 23:23Speaker 1: Fab was gonna be and I'm like, Y're crazy and
- 23:25Speaker 1: shout out the Fab is one thing I seen. They
- 23:29Speaker 1: had a twentieth anniversary for Fab first autum like Fab
- 23:33Speaker 1: September eleventh, as as a New Yorker and A and
- 23:37Speaker 1: A and a dude who was like heavy in the
- 23:40Speaker 1: mixtape eraor at that time and used to buy the
- 23:42Speaker 1: j Arms instrumental freestyle you know, instrumental mixtapes and write
- 23:46Speaker 1: my freestyle to him. Fab was like Fab was like
- 23:51Speaker 1: God to people from that era, stacking the punchlines on
- 23:56Speaker 1: the punchlines and not waiting for the eighth ball or
- 23:58Speaker 1: the fourth body, and I'm coming in on the first ball.
- 24:00Speaker 1: I mean yeah, I hope all the soul tapes end
- 24:02Speaker 1: up on the DSPs. Soul Tapes of Classics, man, Yeah,
- 24:06Speaker 1: sold tapes of classics and Fab? What's the other one? Uh,
- 24:09Speaker 1: Fab's best ship? Unfortunately it's nothing something the one with
- 24:13Speaker 1: Junior read that song with Junior read gangsters don't play
- 24:18Speaker 1: and they have to joint with uh t pain? That
- 24:21Speaker 1: album was crazy, that that album was insane. But I
- 24:24Speaker 1: think Fab's best ship isn't on the DSPs unfortunately, Like
- 24:28Speaker 1: the Soule tape, don't think it's his best I think
- 24:30Speaker 1: that's his like you know, and what what's the two
- 24:34Speaker 1: tapes he just put out? Uh? The first one I
- 24:37Speaker 1: loved fuck with the like vintage eighties nineties looking artwork.
- 24:45Speaker 1: The last two make like the last two projects he
- 24:47Speaker 1: put out. They were both he just puts out a
- 24:50Speaker 1: lot of mixtape ship And I'm like, bro, I think
- 24:53Speaker 1: Fab would thrive as an independent artist. Is Fab fab
- 24:57Speaker 1: still on depth? Jam? I sure think so? Probably shout
- 25:02Speaker 1: out to death Jam No idea what they do for
- 25:04Speaker 1: their artists anymore. No fucking clue, Like, oh, you're on
- 25:07Speaker 1: death Jam, what's that even mean anymore? Sh Uh, Fredo
- 25:12Speaker 1: Bang just asked to get off of death Jam. Shout
- 25:13Speaker 1: out to Freddo Bank. Who do you think if you
- 25:17Speaker 1: had to pair little Wayne against someone in the verses?
- 25:22Speaker 1: Who would? And he Birdman said wat himself. I kind
- 25:26Speaker 1: of feel I feel like there's certain people that's just like, no, no,
- 25:30Speaker 1: those certain people got to battle each other. I feel
- 25:32Speaker 1: like Wayne is in that boat. I feel like Wayne is.
- 25:35Speaker 1: I think it's Drake. I saw something today, right, saw
- 25:38Speaker 1: a tweet and it said like a happy Birthday Wayne tweet,
- 25:42Speaker 1: and it says some shit like Wayne been rapping for
- 25:46Speaker 1: twenty five years, he put out x amount of albums,
- 25:52Speaker 1: twelve albums or something like that, said he gave us Nikki,
- 25:55Speaker 1: he gave us Drake, he gave us young money, and
- 26:00Speaker 1: he's still in his thirties. Salute my nigga, Wayne Man.
- 26:07Speaker 1: You think about nah Man Be and Wayne in the
- 26:11Speaker 1: same age, same age. So when I see some shit
- 26:15Speaker 1: like that, it's like, damn been rapping twenty five He's
- 26:18Speaker 1: been not rapping for twenty five that's crazy. Been in
- 26:21Speaker 1: the industry, on the charts, bling bling every time we come, right,
- 26:26Speaker 1: He been in with the he been twenty five years.
- 26:31Speaker 1: Gave you Nikki, he gave you Drake, gave you, Tiger
- 26:35Speaker 1: fucking gave you j Mills. You know what I'm saying.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Even if you want to be like, yeah, but Mills,
- 26:40Speaker 1: you was out before that. He helped rebrand me. So
- 26:42Speaker 1: I ain't going to I ain't going to like not
- 26:44Speaker 1: acknowledge that, you know what I'm saying. He did all
- 26:47Speaker 1: the dedication to the Carters. He did all that shit.
- 26:50Speaker 1: He went through his ups, his downs, he bounced back,
- 26:52Speaker 1: went through it with Birdman, all that shit and still
- 26:56Speaker 1: in his thirties. Hey, come on, man, he's one of
- 26:59Speaker 1: them people. No, he is. No. Who do I think
- 27:02Speaker 1: Wayne could go against some verses. He's in the He's
- 27:05Speaker 1: in the room where it's like him. They keep saying
- 27:08Speaker 1: Drake too. I think Drake is in that room. Ye, Drake, Hove,
- 27:13Speaker 1: Kanye Beyonce, Mary J. Blige snooping DMX. I would have said, not,
- 27:20Speaker 1: I love Mary, but Mary's not in the room. Mary's
- 27:23Speaker 1: in that room. I think, like Mary, Mariah Carey mar room.
- 27:27Speaker 1: I honestly feel like Jermaine dupre Puff, Doctor Dre Farrell.
- 27:31Speaker 1: They in that room too. I heard what Jamaine Dupree
- 27:34Speaker 1: said about he is in the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
- 27:36Speaker 1: This isn't a songwriter's verse. I don't see a world
- 27:39Speaker 1: in which Mary could beat Beyonce in the versus all
- 27:42Speaker 1: those other those other names you mentioned. Here's the world
- 27:45Speaker 1: in which they all can beat each other. I don't
- 27:47Speaker 1: think it's about I don't think it's so much. I'm right. No, Look,
- 27:51Speaker 1: Beyonce was in a group, Beyonce got Destiny child bags
- 27:54Speaker 1: beyond Beyonce will What I'm saying is all those names
- 27:57Speaker 1: you mentioned. Don't listen. Listen, listen. I am part of
- 28:00Speaker 1: Mary's not an immediate I'm part of this ship. Now.
- 28:03Speaker 1: You will not Marry's a legend, but she's not in that.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Not say this while we are in the same frame.
- 28:10Speaker 1: You will not say Mary is amazing, because he's not
- 28:13Speaker 1: about to say obliviate like obliterate like Beyonce would obliterate Mary.
- 28:21Speaker 1: She won't obliterate her in a versus battle. It literally
- 28:25Speaker 1: would be not a good look for Mary to do that.
- 28:28Speaker 1: It would be a horrible look Beyonce. Look, bro, bro,
- 28:33Speaker 1: I thought, look, Mary is a legend. You know what
- 28:36Speaker 1: you know when you said all those names, all those
- 28:38Speaker 1: people could beat each other. No, but but this is
- 28:41Speaker 1: the third thing. This is the thing. I'm not saying
- 28:42Speaker 1: who could beat each other. That's no, no, no, no no,
- 28:44Speaker 1: I'm saying that you could put who's in that room.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Mary's in that room, Mary's in that room? Telling you
- 28:51Speaker 1: Mary's in that room, what's the four one one? My
- 28:55Speaker 1: Maria is not in that room. She ain't She's not
- 29:01Speaker 1: in the room. She's in the room next door with Mary.
- 29:06Speaker 1: So you're telling me Mariah Carey and Mary Jay aren't
- 29:09Speaker 1: in the room with Beyonce. The room. Listen, there, it's
- 29:13Speaker 1: a room. Drake is in that room, Mary, Mariah, Beyonce
- 29:19Speaker 1: in that room. Missy she in that room, Bro, she
- 29:23Speaker 1: in that room. No disrespect to Missy. No, no, listen,
- 29:26Speaker 1: all this is all disrespected. You're saying. I'm not evenna
- 29:29Speaker 1: let you get away with the journalist. Jay is in
- 29:30Speaker 1: the building. Let's get it going. I cannot let you
- 29:33Speaker 1: do this. I can't let they are all in that room.
- 29:36Speaker 1: I actually don't think I don't think anyone's in the
- 29:41Speaker 1: room with Beyonce, could if if if you wanted to
- 29:45Speaker 1: put Beyonce in the class by myself. So Beyonce, she's
- 29:48Speaker 1: got a loft above the house. You know why I
- 29:50Speaker 1: don't get mad at you saying that because Beyonce, because
- 29:53Speaker 1: it may be people look it may be people that
- 29:57Speaker 1: looked at that the same way when bird Man said
- 29:59Speaker 1: that about Wayne. So I get it. It's it's it's
- 30:02Speaker 1: to each his own. I get your opinion. I'm just
- 30:04Speaker 1: saying I have a difference. I feel like they're all
- 30:05Speaker 1: in that room. So just feel like there's certain people
- 30:08Speaker 1: that I think there's a tier below the tier you're
- 30:11Speaker 1: talking about. And it's like Mariah Man, I feel like
- 30:14Speaker 1: that ship is a is a one level green room.
- 30:16Speaker 1: I don't feel like I don't feel like it's any tears.
- 30:18Speaker 1: You feel like they all just sitting in the room.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Maybe or maybe I feel like that. I feel like
- 30:23Speaker 1: they're all in that room. Listen, Mariah is a fucking legend.
- 30:27Speaker 1: I don't feel like Jamaine Duprie, how about this. Maybe
- 30:30Speaker 1: I was a little disrespectful to Mariah because Maria to me,
- 30:33Speaker 1: I don't want to say that Jamaine. I'm feel like
- 30:34Speaker 1: I don't feel like Jermaine Dupree should be like, oh
- 30:38Speaker 1: Jamaine the Precabat or Puffbat, doctor Dre. It's certain people
- 30:42Speaker 1: that's like nah for you know what, you know what
- 30:44Speaker 1: Jamaine Dupree, Missy Mary, Beyonce, Lil Wayne Drake, jay Z,
- 30:52Speaker 1: those type of people they in that room over there,
- 30:55Speaker 1: like you can't even get in from the outside. You
- 30:58Speaker 1: gotta wait for one of them to leave. Mariah, Mariah
- 31:01Speaker 1: did put out the greatest hit to It was just
- 31:04Speaker 1: called the Ones. You know what I heard, you know
- 31:06Speaker 1: what I heard on the radio the other day. So
- 31:07Speaker 1: maybe Mariah's in the room New York, in the house.
- 31:12Speaker 1: That's how I said. I just that's how long hush
- 31:15Speaker 1: ship go back to. Maybe Maria should go back to. No,
- 31:19Speaker 1: maybe Mariah's in the room vocals. I didn't want to
- 31:24Speaker 1: see the Beyonce versus ship go her ship go back, man.
- 31:29Speaker 1: I don't know. Mary's teetering on. I don't know what
- 31:32Speaker 1: it is. What's good with you? I love Mary, I
- 31:35Speaker 1: love Mary. The thing is very Mary. Mary's in that room.
- 31:38Speaker 1: I mean, we can agree to disagree, we can agree
- 31:40Speaker 1: to disagree, but I'm telling you Mary, she's in that room. Man. Again,
- 31:46Speaker 1: what's the four one one in my life? We can't
- 31:48Speaker 1: put we can't put anyone in the same room as Beyonce,
- 31:53Speaker 1: female vocalists, et cetera. I just don't know Rihanna might
- 31:56Speaker 1: be in that room. Though. You said female vocalists. Who's
- 32:00Speaker 1: gonna Beyonce? So now you just who's gonna beat Beyonce.
- 32:04Speaker 1: I'm not I'm not saying who could beat who. I'm
- 32:06Speaker 1: just saying, but who's in the room. I'm just saying
- 32:08Speaker 1: who's in the room. I don't know. Mary is not
- 32:11Speaker 1: close to Beyonce. I'm not saying that Mary is not
- 32:17Speaker 1: an incredible and influential and but but who the fucking
- 32:21Speaker 1: they're both in that room. Man shout out to Beyonce.
- 32:24Speaker 1: Man shout Beyonce. Shout out to Mary's Nicki Minaj in
- 32:27Speaker 1: that room. I think niggis in that room too. I
- 32:31Speaker 1: think Nikki Foxy come on, no, no, no, no, no,
- 32:36Speaker 1: no yo. You know why, you know why put Foxy
- 32:41Speaker 1: Brown and Little Kim in the same room as Beyonce
- 32:44Speaker 1: and Nicki Minaj. Bro Drake is in that room, missus.
- 32:49Speaker 1: I'm naming people that in a versus. It's like it's like, now,
- 32:53Speaker 1: Foxy Brown is incredible. I love Foxy Broke. It's like
- 32:58Speaker 1: it's incredible album. It's likens Kendrick is in that room too,
- 33:02Speaker 1: Kendrick in that room. It's not I'm not doing a
- 33:05Speaker 1: certain everything. I'm just telling you artists that when you
- 33:08Speaker 1: think about you know what, you know it's the problem.
- 33:10Speaker 1: They thought that same thing with the locks. When we
- 33:12Speaker 1: talk about the lock. Niggas thought O dipset got a
- 33:15Speaker 1: cold following. They got the cold following. But you forgot
- 33:18Speaker 1: to see you for see you forgot about the chain
- 33:21Speaker 1: gang freestyles on the Cluminati because I don't know if
- 33:25Speaker 1: you was getting those mixtapes where you was at. So
- 33:27Speaker 1: when niggas get on them stages and Foxy start performing
- 33:31Speaker 1: versus from freestyles on Clue mixtapes when it was her
- 33:34Speaker 1: a Z nods and called mego or nature, and we
- 33:37Speaker 1: remember them because it's the incredible. Yeah. Yeah, when Kim
- 33:42Speaker 1: start going into I've got no time. If they Donald twenty,
- 33:49Speaker 1: if they Donald, they see now you you now you
- 33:57Speaker 1: know what you're doing. You having people battle of a
- 34:00Speaker 1: people that's excluded from the world in which everyone has
- 34:04Speaker 1: fair chances. It ain't no chances. They worked hard enough
- 34:07Speaker 1: to get to the room where they ain't even in
- 34:08Speaker 1: this conversation. They're in a room not even in this conversation.
- 34:12Speaker 1: You know, it's crazy when the last time you listened
- 34:14Speaker 1: to Monster, When the last time you listened to Monster,
- 34:17Speaker 1: like four days ago, I listened to my beautiful dark
- 34:19Speaker 1: twist of Fantasy. Often he in that room? Who Kanye,
- 34:23Speaker 1: he's in that room? Yeah? But when the last time
- 34:26Speaker 1: you listened to Monsteryo, four days ago, I was driving
- 34:32Speaker 1: You think you don't you think she like, you don't
- 34:35Speaker 1: think she deserves to be in that Like I'm not
- 34:37Speaker 1: even gonna lie in the room. You know why I'm
- 34:40Speaker 1: naming these people that's supposed to be in this room
- 34:42Speaker 1: because versus and I've learned this, and we're gonna talk
- 34:45Speaker 1: about some other shit because this ain't the versus interview.
- 34:49Speaker 1: Versus is about performance. It's about stage presence, it's about personalities,
- 34:57Speaker 1: you know, it's about time. And all of these people
- 34:59Speaker 1: I'm naming, I think when they get on that stage,
- 35:03Speaker 1: it's a lot of times you might have the better records.
- 35:06Speaker 1: I think Bow Wow had better records than Sojia Boys.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Listen Sojia Boy with long do or and shout out
- 35:12Speaker 1: the bow Wow shot Soldier Boy. You can't tell you
- 35:15Speaker 1: didn't watch that bullshit battle, but I'm I watched it,
- 35:17Speaker 1: so I'm gonna tell you watch. Sojia Boy played she
- 35:21Speaker 1: Make It Clap four different times? Yeah cause so boys
- 35:24Speaker 1: got hold on record, but hold on. He played his version,
- 35:27Speaker 1: Then he played the remix for French Boy French Out.
- 35:29Speaker 1: Then he played a version from Nicki Minaj. We never
- 35:31Speaker 1: even heard it. We still haven't heard this verse, nigga
- 35:33Speaker 1: like he played the same song three times, No, nigga.
- 35:36Speaker 1: He played a version of she Make a Clap with
- 35:38Speaker 1: Nicki Minaj. That oh shit, oh shit. You know it's
- 35:41Speaker 1: crazy though, Soldier Boy is uh, she got intense oneos
- 35:45Speaker 1: record minute. Soldier boys records are way bigger than baw
- 35:47Speaker 1: Wo Got Crazy. Sojio Boy's biggest song. He might have
- 35:51Speaker 1: as many records, but Sojo Boy's biggest records are way
- 35:54Speaker 1: bigger than bow Wow's biggest records. I'm just telling you
- 35:58Speaker 1: I would have just like technical babyface, not my Harlem bias.
- 36:03Speaker 1: But I just I thought, yo, Teddy Riley, it is
- 36:06Speaker 1: Teddy Riley, and then I forgot I didn't. I was
- 36:08Speaker 1: like damn. I was like, oh shit, Babyface did this.
- 36:13Speaker 1: He did this, and I learned that shit through the
- 36:16Speaker 1: what's his name? Then he brought out he brought it.
- 36:17Speaker 1: He said, yeah, uh, this is when baby Face fronted.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Let me sure how baby Face fronted? He said, yeah,
- 36:26Speaker 1: his next record right here, that nigga broke out an
- 36:28Speaker 1: acoustic guitar. I think he started playing when will I
- 36:31Speaker 1: See You Again? Like singing it. This is before it
- 36:34Speaker 1: was a stage. He was singing this ship to the Instagram,
- 36:37Speaker 1: had the feet tap and all that, and I'm like, damn,
- 36:39Speaker 1: Teddy wi Fi was fucked up. It was so much
- 36:42Speaker 1: going on, It's like, oh, it doesn't matter about it?
- 36:45Speaker 1: Am I lying? Bro? It was like it don't even
- 36:48Speaker 1: matter about the records no more. And I think now
- 36:51Speaker 1: where Versus came to the stage, shit, Earth Winning Fire
- 36:54Speaker 1: and the Osley Brothers in SWV and Escape. These are
- 36:58Speaker 1: groups where it's like, yo, they both got hits. So
- 37:01Speaker 1: now it's all about well who could sell it more? Hooka, whokah,
- 37:05Speaker 1: who's gonna look better? Who's going you know, Bobby Brown
- 37:08Speaker 1: had a lot of hits. Who would you like to say?
- 37:10Speaker 1: I would love to see Mary n Verses came up there.
- 37:12Speaker 1: My moms was looking at the verses like, go ahead, Keith,
- 37:15Speaker 1: who do who? Go ahead? Who do you think would
- 37:19Speaker 1: make sense? Because I would love to see Mary in
- 37:20Speaker 1: a verses? Who would Who do you think she should
- 37:22Speaker 1: go against? Mary versus Missy might be solid. Now they're
- 37:26Speaker 1: in the room, man, we gotta we gotta talk about
- 37:28Speaker 1: some Look. Look, I've had media training, right, and it's
- 37:31Speaker 1: what's going on about what five months? I've had media training.
- 37:34Speaker 1: You're not gonna get me to say Mary the Mary
- 37:37Speaker 1: and Beyonce. Oh that was I almost fell for it too.
- 37:41Speaker 1: I almost said, nah, look Beyonce, Maryka, they're both queens.
- 37:45Speaker 1: They're both in the room, untouchable. Now Beyonce is winning,
- 37:49Speaker 1: though I don't know. I'm just gonna embrace greatness and
- 37:53Speaker 1: just be happy that. But I'm fucking good Beyonce is winning.
- 38:00Speaker 1: I don't know who would Who would you know? Who wins?
- 38:02Speaker 1: Whoever's alive to see it? Fair enough? It's free, Okay,
- 38:07Speaker 1: that's an incredible win. We would get to see that
- 38:09Speaker 1: for free. Who would win if Drake and Wayne battled
- 38:13Speaker 1: on versus because they did the tour, the Drake versus
- 38:16Speaker 1: Wayne tour. O don't know, I don't think they would
- 38:19Speaker 1: do it, but it'd be cool to see because they
- 38:20Speaker 1: did do the Drake versus Little Who. Do you think though?
- 38:22Speaker 1: So if you who'd you put your money on? You
- 38:24Speaker 1: had to bet one hundred thousand dollars. I'm not betting
- 38:26Speaker 1: on that who, but you had to someone said, look you, no,
- 38:29Speaker 1: I don't have a hundred grand I don't have to
- 38:30Speaker 1: do anything free bet make sure I've fulfill my obligations
- 38:35Speaker 1: to the contract that I just that's all I have
- 38:37Speaker 1: to really do. I don't have to do anything. But
- 38:40Speaker 1: I think I think both of them. I think I
- 38:42Speaker 1: think Drake and Lil Wayne. You know what's crazy to me.
- 38:46Speaker 1: It's crazy to me to see like all of the
- 38:47Speaker 1: records that Drake is breaking in the time that he's
- 38:51Speaker 1: been in the industry. You unders what I'm saying. It's
- 38:53Speaker 1: twenty twenty one. Would we we finally got like Drake
- 38:58Speaker 1: Drake like best I ever had so far? Go on
- 39:00Speaker 1: like what oh what that was nine twenty ten? Yeah,
- 39:04Speaker 1: think about like breaking the Beatles records and I like
- 39:06Speaker 1: the like I think I think more like I think
- 39:09Speaker 1: Drake's probably got like he could probably do it verses
- 39:13Speaker 1: with just his features. But I think Wayne can't get
- 39:16Speaker 1: in the bags. He can he can always into versus
- 39:18Speaker 1: battle say I signed you. It ain't even about that.
- 39:21Speaker 1: I think. I think with Wayne, we forget it. We
- 39:23Speaker 1: put my money on. It was one year that Wayne
- 39:25Speaker 1: I put my money. It was on like three hundred
- 39:27Speaker 1: Son records, involving like all the morning he had from
- 39:31Speaker 1: him and the features and twenty. I put my money
- 39:34Speaker 1: on Wayne just because I like, I think that on
- 39:36Speaker 1: stage he'd do better and he could. He could say
- 39:39Speaker 1: some slick ship that Drake couldn't answer to. I think
- 39:42Speaker 1: with Versus, it's hard to tell because it's about the sequencing. Man.
- 39:45Speaker 1: Secreencing is important. I think the performance at this it
- 39:49Speaker 1: used to not be about performance because people would just
- 39:51Speaker 1: play songs and then be on the IG live, like
- 39:55Speaker 1: just think, just think a way that ship came from
- 39:57Speaker 1: us watching it in the pandemic and the crib to
- 40:00Speaker 1: now it's fucking it was slowing down money. I think
- 40:05Speaker 1: the dipset like shit put a whole new energy behind it.
- 40:08Speaker 1: So shout out to uh Swizz and shout out to Timberland,
- 40:10Speaker 1: shout the Swiss and shot the Timblin for keeping it
- 40:12Speaker 1: going past to past, everybody being quarantine and shit like that.
- 40:16Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. That was some real shit
- 40:18Speaker 1: to figure out a way for people to get money.
- 40:21Speaker 1: That did it before? You know, you got to think
- 40:22Speaker 1: about like fucking boy Wonder and hit Boy. You know that.
- 40:26Speaker 1: Hey what up? Man? We got to interrupt the interview
- 40:28Speaker 1: real quick to tell you about our family at odd Socks. Now,
- 40:31Speaker 1: when I be riding for odd Socks so hard, man,

- 41:36Speaker 1: know now that you're doing TV stuff and you're doing
- 41:39Speaker 1: rapping just because you kind of love it, right, Yeah,
- 41:43Speaker 1: I love this shit. Man. My fiance she'd be telling me,
- 41:48Speaker 1: stop lying, You're never gonna stop rapping. You love it,
- 41:53Speaker 1: And I tell it like, I'm not gonna stop rapping
- 41:57Speaker 1: because I don't feel like we in the era right
- 41:59Speaker 1: now where you have to retire or you have to
- 42:02Speaker 1: I look at it. I look at something like Two Chains.
- 42:05Speaker 1: I watched too. I watched Two Chains reinvent itself to
- 42:09Speaker 1: the point where you don't give a fuck how old
- 42:11Speaker 1: two Change is. You know what I'm saying, You don't
- 42:13Speaker 1: care how old fab is. Jim Jim don't die his beard.
- 42:17Speaker 1: You don't. You don't give a fuck how old Jim
- 42:18Speaker 1: Jones is put on L Coppo and you like it's
- 42:24Speaker 1: a nigga talking. So I think it's I think it's
- 42:28Speaker 1: kind of yes shot that he makes. It's kind of
- 42:30Speaker 1: like at this point, man, it's it's how you were
- 42:33Speaker 1: just giving me some game before we came on camera
- 42:35Speaker 1: about you know, how to keep ship going from this
- 42:37Speaker 1: point like what I'm doing like certain ship work for
- 42:41Speaker 1: certain people, you know what I'm saying. And I feel
- 42:44Speaker 1: like where I'm at right now, I love this ship
- 42:48Speaker 1: so much. I'm back to the point where it was like, damn,
- 42:52Speaker 1: I'm at a point where it's like do you want
- 42:57Speaker 1: to do it? Do you need to do it? Or
- 42:59Speaker 1: do you have to do you know what I'm saying.
- 43:01Speaker 1: And with me, it's like, Yo, I remember a time
- 43:04Speaker 1: where I was doing this shit and wasn't really looking
- 43:07Speaker 1: for nothing from it, and that was the most fun
- 43:10Speaker 1: I ever had. I wasn't obligated that. Even right now
- 43:12Speaker 1: with the empis, I ain't obligated to nothing. I can
- 43:14Speaker 1: drop so every day if I want, you know, So,
- 43:17Speaker 1: it's not like an obligation to anything. You free to
- 43:19Speaker 1: do what you want. You're free to do this new shit,
- 43:22Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And they not saying I
- 43:24Speaker 1: can't do my music. Shit. It's just like, Yo, we
- 43:27Speaker 1: just need you to do this this blah blah. This
- 43:29Speaker 1: is what we're paying you for, right, you know what
- 43:31Speaker 1: I'm saying. And now it's like, yo, bro, you could
- 43:35Speaker 1: really just do whatever the fuck you want. I'm not
- 43:37Speaker 1: looking for Oh I'm trying to. I got plaques already.
- 43:41Speaker 1: I got plaques that I'm still waiting to put up
- 43:44Speaker 1: when I'm moving to the new crib. So it's like,
- 43:46Speaker 1: you're not doing it for a plaque. And this is
- 43:48Speaker 1: another thing. This is another thing I had to I
- 43:51Speaker 1: had to learn sometimes you could be chasing some shit
- 43:55Speaker 1: that you already got, and I'm explaining to you. I
- 43:59Speaker 1: was ordering my place and shit right, and I was
- 44:02Speaker 1: ordering like, uh, young money gold album, fucking I am
- 44:07Speaker 1: not a human being album because I was on two
- 44:10Speaker 1: records on there, and it's platinum. All right, get my plaque.
- 44:13Speaker 1: But I never really paid attention to this type of shit.
- 44:15Speaker 1: So I would go to producer's houses and they'd be like, yo, Miles.
- 44:18Speaker 1: I would go to an engineer house and he would
- 44:20Speaker 1: be engineered on an album and he would have a
- 44:21Speaker 1: plaque and I wouldn't but I'm on it, and he'd
- 44:23Speaker 1: be like, yo, order, So now I'm ordering my plaques,
- 44:26Speaker 1: Billboard plaques. Young Money debuted at number one, hit number one.
- 44:29Speaker 1: The second album debuted here Soul List, so this one
- 44:32Speaker 1: was number So I'm like, now I'm ordering all these
- 44:34Speaker 1: these plaques, these Young Money plaques. So I'm like, you know,
- 44:41Speaker 1: i'd be on my geek shit sometimes, man, let me
- 44:45Speaker 1: google myself on Billboard, right, let me just see. So
- 44:50Speaker 1: it's like, damn, I google myself, look up to date,
- 44:55Speaker 1: back search at all that shit, and I'm like, damn.
- 44:58Speaker 1: I was on the Billboard charts when I was still
- 45:00Speaker 1: living in my mom's crib. I was on the Billboard
- 45:03Speaker 1: charts before I was on the Billboard charts with Young Money.
- 45:07Speaker 1: But I just never knew. So I started ordering all
- 45:10Speaker 1: them shits. Order no, No, No, or or the streets
- 45:14Speaker 1: melting feature in Swiss Beats. I don't give a fuck
- 45:17Speaker 1: if it's number twenty, if it peaked that twenty eight
- 45:20Speaker 1: and it hit forty three, or if it peaked that
- 45:22Speaker 1: number twelve and it was dropped down to eighty something,
- 45:26Speaker 1: it was there, so you need to see that every
- 45:29Speaker 1: day so you could know that's not something you need
- 45:32Speaker 1: to keep chasing, chase some other shit. Wake up every day,
- 45:36Speaker 1: roll you up blunt and look at that time where
- 45:39Speaker 1: you was in the hot one hundred and you peaked
- 45:41Speaker 1: that number twenty three in two thousand and four. Was
- 45:44Speaker 1: it hard hard to figure out like kind of how
- 45:48Speaker 1: to keep monetizing J Mills? Fuck? Yeah, it was hard
- 45:54Speaker 1: because I ain't really have no real management and the
- 45:59Speaker 1: time where it was like the whole rock Nation shit,
- 46:02Speaker 1: or people were signing to groups or you're not signed
- 46:05Speaker 1: to a manager, you signed to a management group, like
- 46:08Speaker 1: I ain't really I was just one of them people.
- 46:11Speaker 1: It was like, I I know how to record myself,
- 46:14Speaker 1: I know how to do all this shit. I know
- 46:15Speaker 1: how to put it out. I just put it out.
- 46:17Speaker 1: But I'm getting lost and now it's people involved. You
- 46:20Speaker 1: need to be a part of a system, some sort
- 46:22Speaker 1: of some sort of machine. If you just want to
- 46:24Speaker 1: put the music out and do the music shit, you
- 46:26Speaker 1: need to be with some people that could pick up
- 46:30Speaker 1: where you stop with the music. They could pick up
- 46:32Speaker 1: with the rest of the business. And I think I
- 46:34Speaker 1: just got so lost in it. I just like putting
- 46:35Speaker 1: music out like I ain't pressed on the bread, the fame,
- 46:40Speaker 1: the numbers. It's like, bro, I'm gonna be real with you.
- 46:42Speaker 1: Once you doesnet been on that. You don't been around
- 46:45Speaker 1: the world with the whole young money shit and you
- 46:47Speaker 1: don't have to smack DVD the battle fame and you
- 46:51Speaker 1: know what it's like for flex to drop bombs on
- 46:52Speaker 1: your record and do that you didn't you did. That's
- 46:56Speaker 1: why I in the freestyle, I say, already did what
- 47:00Speaker 1: I came to do. All my visions became true. But
- 47:04Speaker 1: I ain't living in the past. I'm living in the now,
- 47:06Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. Like I was in that
- 47:09Speaker 1: magazine that was the first magazine I was in. I
- 47:11Speaker 1: remember doing the interview in front of my mom. I
- 47:13Speaker 1: still lived in my mom's crib when I did that interview.
- 47:15Speaker 1: People who can't see it on camera. It's the double
- 47:17Speaker 1: excel eminem fifty cent and Doctor Dre when fifty first
- 47:21Speaker 1: got with them, and I remember I was like, damn,
- 47:23Speaker 1: I felt so excited because I had a whole page.
- 47:27Speaker 1: But this is coming from being in the source and
- 47:29Speaker 1: like off the radar, having like a piece of the
- 47:32Speaker 1: paper you're a part of shit like that, and you
- 47:37Speaker 1: wake up. You look at your plaques, and you look
- 47:38Speaker 1: at your kids, and you look at awards and shit
- 47:40Speaker 1: for award shows that you wouldn't go to no more
- 47:43Speaker 1: if they invited you because you don't. It's like you performed,
- 47:47Speaker 1: I won shit, I and if I never do it again,
- 47:50Speaker 1: I'm grateful enough to know, Yeah, that's what God. God
- 47:53Speaker 1: put that in your life for that moment, for you
- 47:56Speaker 1: to get to some other shit, you know what I'm saying.
- 47:58Speaker 1: And a lot of time I don't think people be
- 48:01Speaker 1: grateful for the shit they're already done because sometimes you
- 48:05Speaker 1: can't see it, you know what I'm saying. That's the
- 48:08Speaker 1: whole thing with the plaque shit. It's like, Yo, if
- 48:09Speaker 1: you look at all this shit, you'd be like, am
- 48:14Speaker 1: I really still trying to bust my ass to get
- 48:17Speaker 1: on the billboard charts? Or am I trying to get
- 48:20Speaker 1: on the billboard charts for you? Like am I still
- 48:23Speaker 1: trying to go platinum? Or am I trying to go
- 48:25Speaker 1: platinum for you? For you to be like, see, I
- 48:28Speaker 1: told you my nigga, do it, nigger, I know I
- 48:30Speaker 1: could do it even if I don't do it. I
- 48:32Speaker 1: just choose not to do it because got some other
- 48:35Speaker 1: shit going on. But when you don't have nothing going on,
- 48:38Speaker 1: it's hard to I'm talking right now is talking from
- 48:41Speaker 1: a standpoint where it's like, yeah, I'm up here, don't
- 48:44Speaker 1: call now is available on all platforms, but you don't
- 48:48Speaker 1: stream it. My bills are gonna get paid. The Range Rover,
- 48:53Speaker 1: they're not gonna come take it. I don't owe anything
- 48:55Speaker 1: on my jewelry. I don't owe anybody anything, you know
- 49:00Speaker 1: what I'm saying. I don't feel like nobody owe me anything,
- 49:04Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So I could talk like this,
- 49:07Speaker 1: and in my mind it's like, I see why when
- 49:09Speaker 1: people get to a certain point, they just be like, yo, man,
- 49:13Speaker 1: I'm doing this shit because I want to, Like I
- 49:15Speaker 1: don't have to, you know, like people be like, I
- 49:17Speaker 1: don't really have to do this shit, and that should
- 49:18Speaker 1: just sounds so generic. Like right, it's like, now I'm
- 49:21Speaker 1: doing this shit because I love it, so you should
- 49:23Speaker 1: love this shit that I give you even more just
- 49:26Speaker 1: knowing I really don't have to do this shit, right right?
- 49:28Speaker 1: You know that's fair? Yo? What was like the creative process?
- 49:36Speaker 1: Let's go back to like a record like Bad Rock
- 49:38Speaker 1: or like a record like every Girl, Like how would
- 49:40Speaker 1: you would you would? Did you guys record those together?
- 49:42Speaker 1: Or would you guys? We recorded every Girl and Bad
- 49:45Speaker 1: Rock together, And once again, I'm gonna speak to the
- 49:47Speaker 1: genius or Wayne real quick. Wayne formulated that whole every
- 49:53Speaker 1: Girl bedrock type shit. Uh Wayne changed my whole verse
- 49:58Speaker 1: around on bad Rock. But the end was the beginning,
- 50:02Speaker 1: and I think the beginning was the end. But he
- 50:03Speaker 1: was like, Yo, it sounds better on a walk in
- 50:05Speaker 1: this shit that he known from being with the hot
- 50:07Speaker 1: boys and shit like that, and he shared that with
- 50:10Speaker 1: us like he used to always share that shit with us, like, Yo,
- 50:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna get on these records with y'all, like I'm
- 50:16Speaker 1: gonna sell it with y'all. I ain't just gonna throw
- 50:17Speaker 1: y'all out there. So that's why he was on every Girl.
- 50:20Speaker 1: He was on Bad Rock, he was on he was
- 50:21Speaker 1: in the videos, he was bringing us on stage with him,
- 50:24Speaker 1: he was he was doing all of that because he
- 50:25Speaker 1: was trying to sell us. So really that was Wayne.
- 50:27Speaker 1: I did the Bedrock, I mean every Girl video with
- 50:30Speaker 1: all the different type of girls getting out the video,
- 50:33Speaker 1: like skinny girls, big girls, small girls, white girls, black girls.
- 50:36Speaker 1: This this religion, this religion. That was his idea to
- 50:39Speaker 1: make it seem like we like just kept getting out
- 50:41Speaker 1: the car like, yeah, we're just gonna be in a
- 50:44Speaker 1: factory with the car and we're just gonna so Drake,
- 50:46Speaker 1: Nicky J. Mills. Everyone's in the studio together during this time. Noah,
- 50:51Speaker 1: not for every girl. NICKI bullied her way on Bedrock.
- 50:54Speaker 1: Shout Shout the Dickie. She was like, no, y'all not
- 50:56Speaker 1: gonna put out another single without me, like because every
- 50:59Speaker 1: girl was like something that we just did. Yeah, she's
- 51:03Speaker 1: not at every girl, right, No, yeah, that's yeah. Every
- 51:06Speaker 1: girl was something we did. And uh, I want to
- 51:10Speaker 1: say Hollywood somewhere or somewhere like up there sunset, you
- 51:14Speaker 1: know them like the hotel that got a studio in
- 51:16Speaker 1: the hotel I forgot. It's one of them sexy shi
- 51:18Speaker 1: its like on the on the whatever. Long story short,
- 51:21Speaker 1: we did it in there, and yeah, we was all
- 51:23Speaker 1: in there together. We was all in there together when
- 51:25Speaker 1: we did Bedrock. Uh, when we did Bedrock, Lloyd wasn't
- 51:31Speaker 1: on that. The Marion was on it when we first
- 51:34Speaker 1: when we first did it, and they got leaked and
- 51:36Speaker 1: I think uh, you know, way ain't on hear and
- 51:38Speaker 1: fuck with no leaks, So when they got leaked, like
- 51:41Speaker 1: they was trying to like still use the record. But
- 51:44Speaker 1: that's why when the final record came out, it was
- 51:46Speaker 1: that it was I will say this man, Way ain't
- 51:50Speaker 1: don't get enough credit for a lot of ship, like
- 51:54Speaker 1: with the whole Young Money ship, like we was when
- 51:56Speaker 1: you think about where we was at with it, Like
- 51:58Speaker 1: Drake was Drake from the Grassy and nick he was
- 52:00Speaker 1: Nikki from the from the DVDs and the mixtapes and
- 52:02Speaker 1: Gucci and all of that shit she was doing. And
- 52:05Speaker 1: I was Me from the Smack DVDs and mixtapes and
- 52:07Speaker 1: all of that. But Wayne was Wayne. He was on
- 52:11Speaker 1: the verge of it was right before Lollipopkin. He was
- 52:14Speaker 1: on the verge of becoming Wayne Wayne. When he became
- 52:17Speaker 1: Wayne Wayne, a million records sol first week called at three,
- 52:22Speaker 1: he took everybody, you know what I'm saying, even if
- 52:26Speaker 1: before it was artist bus and we all had different buses,
- 52:30Speaker 1: it was fucking y'allg just on my bus, you know
- 52:33Speaker 1: what I'm saying. And I give him a lot of
- 52:34Speaker 1: credit for that because he didn't have to put us
- 52:36Speaker 1: on the stage with him at the height of his shit.
- 52:39Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. I can't think of too
- 52:40Speaker 1: many artists at that time of his like level that
- 52:48Speaker 1: was doing the shit that he did for us. Was
- 52:51Speaker 1: there ever anyone that you knew that almost signed with
- 52:54Speaker 1: Young Money that didn't end up working out? That would
- 52:56Speaker 1: have been crazy? Uh? Damn. I don't know. I don't know.
- 53:04Speaker 1: I can't really, I can't really it was, it was,
- 53:06Speaker 1: It was a few I remember Mario and I thought
- 53:08Speaker 1: that was gonna be cool, the whole of Marion thing.
- 53:10Speaker 1: I don't know what happened with that. I remember Lloyd Lloyd, Uh,
- 53:16Speaker 1: I don't know. It was. You know, people was probably
- 53:17Speaker 1: hitting Wayne up like crazy. I remember one day I
- 53:19Speaker 1: was with Wayne and he was like, yo, boys just
- 53:21Speaker 1: hit me up about getting with young Wayne was He
- 53:23Speaker 1: was like Norri Nori Jeger, this is like, this is
- 53:26Speaker 1: like a while, This is like when Nori was doing
- 53:28Speaker 1: regaetone kind of probably around that time. He was not
- 53:33Speaker 1: he was still booming. He was still booming. Yeah, probably
- 53:35Speaker 1: nothing Raggaeton one of them and shout out to Norri
- 53:39Speaker 1: man like Noorri one of them people. Uh, I don't
- 53:45Speaker 1: really speak to him too much. But when I speak
- 53:49Speaker 1: to him, he always tell me about myself. He always always,
- 53:54Speaker 1: and I used to I used to go back and
- 53:57Speaker 1: forth with him, you know, because we probably smoking and
- 53:59Speaker 1: drinking and it's probably coming across like yo, And I
- 54:06Speaker 1: had to realize, like Yo, I used to listen to
- 54:08Speaker 1: this man when I was in the ninth, tenth grade,
- 54:13Speaker 1: eleventh grade, you know what I'm saying. I used to
- 54:15Speaker 1: ride to school and listen to the War reporting and
- 54:19Speaker 1: ri E And first time I heard FAB was on
- 54:22Speaker 1: a clue freestyle with Norri on air. Oh wow, wrapping
- 54:27Speaker 1: over money, power respect. So when I talk to people
- 54:30Speaker 1: like that, it's not really about rap no more. It's
- 54:34Speaker 1: like I don't really care about doing a song with you,
- 54:37Speaker 1: like I ain't really even tripping on doing a drink
- 54:41Speaker 1: Champs interview. Hey, I'm sure, and I'm gonna tell you why,
- 54:45Speaker 1: Because I feel like I get more from you answering
- 54:49Speaker 1: the phone, answering the text message you know what I'm saying,
- 54:52Speaker 1: or if I'm in town, like yo, I'm here, I
- 54:54Speaker 1: bet link up, let's link up. I get more out
- 54:57Speaker 1: of that than trying to get some publicity or market
- 55:01Speaker 1: something or like nah, you interviewed this one. I need
- 55:03Speaker 1: to come promote. It's like, nah, man, just answer, you
- 55:07Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. And it's like that with a
- 55:08Speaker 1: lot of people, like shout out to young Guru. You
- 55:10Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. I sometimes I just hit Guru
- 55:14Speaker 1: like yo, just checking in, just saying what's up. You know.
- 55:16Speaker 1: Like once I was in the studio with him and
- 55:18Speaker 1: kicked it with him and he started telling me your mills,
- 55:20Speaker 1: it'd be crazy if you take your battle and turn
- 55:23Speaker 1: it into an NFT. And it's like and I'm sitting
- 55:25Speaker 1: there like, Yo, this is jay Z's engineer. Like he
- 55:30Speaker 1: giving me game right in his crib, giving me game.
- 55:33Speaker 1: Open his door to me. You know what I'm saying.
- 55:35Speaker 1: So I value shit like that more than Yo, Let's
- 55:38Speaker 1: do some music. It's like, man, I've been doing music
- 55:41Speaker 1: for twenty years. Man, would you do battling anymore? I
- 55:45Speaker 1: probably would, but not at this present moment. Like I
- 55:48Speaker 1: got a lot of bag. Oh the bag gotta be stupid, right,
- 55:53Speaker 1: The bag was right when I came back. So you
- 55:54Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. The bag was right when I
- 55:56Speaker 1: came back. But there's so much money in the battle
- 55:58Speaker 1: rap shit man, good trans This is a good journalist, Jay,
- 56:01Speaker 1: a good transition. I was watching, Uh was it summer
- 56:04Speaker 1: madness the overy day. You don't you don't keep up
- 56:07Speaker 1: with the battle the battle culture. Man. I I used
- 56:10Speaker 1: to and it just became like it just became a lot.
- 56:14Speaker 1: It's just killing uh battle culture. Yeah, shout out the smack,
- 56:18Speaker 1: Shout out the U R l H. Shout the caffeine.
- 56:22Speaker 1: Shout the caffeine, shout the Uh. I saw the geechee
- 56:26Speaker 1: Gotti caliculture, Uh moove read shout to Kashan Kishan battle
- 56:35Speaker 1: Uh chess. Easy see these as people and I noticed this.
- 56:42Speaker 1: I know this with my platform and with my new
- 56:44Speaker 1: platform and ship like that. When you speak about these
- 56:46Speaker 1: type of things, you gotta highlight ship. You can't just
- 56:49Speaker 1: glaze over ship. Because I was one of those battle
- 56:52Speaker 1: rappers before that. A nigga only shout out the headliner
- 56:57Speaker 1: like yeah, shout out the mook and this this like Nah,
- 57:00Speaker 1: it was a lot of other niggas up there. I
- 57:01Speaker 1: got busy that day. It's a lot of other niggas
- 57:04Speaker 1: that went to work that day. You know what I'm saying.
- 57:06Speaker 1: They was up there trying to get a back end
- 57:07Speaker 1: hoping the nigga. Don't bump them, hoping the nigga, you
- 57:09Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So I still try to keep
- 57:12Speaker 1: keep keep myself tapped in with that culture. That's why
- 57:14Speaker 1: when you asking me what I still battle, it's like
- 57:16Speaker 1: hell yeah, shout out the head Ice had Ice ain't
- 57:18Speaker 1: no young young boy, but he fucking he a god
- 57:21Speaker 1: with the battle rap shit. That's another sport where father
- 57:25Speaker 1: time don't catch up with you. In battle rap, father
- 57:28Speaker 1: time don't catch up with you and rap. I just
- 57:30Speaker 1: watched Nas want a Grammy. I was with Nori in
- 57:33Speaker 1: Miami when Nas want to Grammy and he was facetiing.
- 57:37Speaker 1: He was hitting him like yo, you did that for queens,
- 57:39Speaker 1: And like I was with Nori speak like just how
- 57:42Speaker 1: everything just come full circle? You know what I'm saying.
- 57:44Speaker 1: It's like yo, I was. I was with him when
- 57:47Speaker 1: he faced timed Nas like yo, you just like it's
- 57:50Speaker 1: just moments like that for me. Now it's past music.
- 57:54Speaker 1: It's past trying to create a musical moment like I can't.
- 57:58Speaker 1: I don't want to hit two chains and be like yo,
- 58:01Speaker 1: I need a verse like you did a verse for
- 58:03Speaker 1: me when you was charging one hundred thousand. All I
- 58:06Speaker 1: want for my birthday is a big bully girl Mills,
- 58:08Speaker 1: just send it. You ain't never got it. You ain't
- 58:10Speaker 1: never got it. It's certain people that did shit for me, uh,
- 58:17Speaker 1: when I was coming up in my music career, throughout
- 58:19Speaker 1: my music career, when I might have been at a
- 58:21Speaker 1: downtime and you know, I needed I needed some help
- 58:24Speaker 1: with some shit. It's a lot of people that might
- 58:28Speaker 1: have helped me with things. And right now people might
- 58:31Speaker 1: be like, Yo, why you don't hit so and so
- 58:32Speaker 1: for a feature? Why you don't hit this one for
- 58:33Speaker 1: a feature? It's like, nah, because that person already did
- 58:38Speaker 1: shit for me that I don't even give a fuck
- 58:42Speaker 1: about the feature. The other ship that they did was
- 58:44Speaker 1: more important. That shit meant more to me, Like now
- 58:46Speaker 1: I'm more into some shit, like Yo, can I get
- 58:49Speaker 1: you for my show? How many minutes can I get
- 58:52Speaker 1: you for for this segment I got for? You know
- 58:54Speaker 1: what I'm saying that that don't mean more than me.
- 58:56Speaker 1: Fuck with me now and this new shit I'm doing
- 58:57Speaker 1: because I ain't gonna keep asking you for no And
- 59:00Speaker 1: to keep it real, majority of the people that did
- 59:02Speaker 1: a lot of shit for me in the industry did
- 59:03Speaker 1: it for free? I can't really tell. I could probably
- 59:06Speaker 1: count on three fingers the times I paid for a feature.
- 59:11Speaker 1: Now look at now, I ain't gonna throw them out there, like,
- 59:14Speaker 1: come on, and who'd you pay for? You don't gotta
- 59:16Speaker 1: tell how much? Who'd you have to pay for? You
- 59:18Speaker 1: want know somen crazy? They all from New York, So
- 59:21Speaker 1: who'd you pay for? Because I wouldn't want to put
- 59:25Speaker 1: it out there. But I'm just saying people pay for features.
- 59:28Speaker 1: People do. But I'm just trying to show the love
- 59:31Speaker 1: that I've gotten from everyone that first came in the game.
- 59:34Speaker 1: Threw ups and downs before Young Money? What young money?
- 59:36Speaker 1: After Young money? My independence, like when I was just
- 59:39Speaker 1: a mixtape nigga with no with no nothing. I know
- 59:42Speaker 1: you had mentioned that you and Vado might be doing
- 59:44Speaker 1: something like a project. Is that something that's still even
- 59:47Speaker 1: on the table, Like yeah, uh, you know what it
- 59:51Speaker 1: is to drive me and Vado, we always go back
- 59:53Speaker 1: and forth like we're gonna do this, go do that,
- 59:55Speaker 1: never get around to it. So I don't know. But
- 59:57Speaker 1: Vias my boy, viz v He is like one of
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: my fucking best friends in life. Like I knew Vado
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: before we was both rappers. I think he was the
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: first guy, like I remember the Slime Ship was he was,
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: And we got that from Nori And we got that
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: from Nori saying that ship in the video like yeah
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: it was and then yeah yeah, So we say that
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: we acknowledged that we from we from that era, We
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: from the era of like we was talking earlier about,
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: like Stretch Armstrong and you know, Cam and Joel's going
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: up to Stretch arm Strong, a Major Figures going up
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: to Stretch Strong, shout out to shout out to Gilly
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: and shout out to the Major Figures. Man, I don't
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: I don't speak on a lot of this a lot,
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: but I remember when Major Figures was like the thing right,
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: and I was one of them kids. I used to
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: be listening to Stretch Armstrong on Sundays taping it, you know,
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: because I know when whoever come up here, they gonna rap,
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: whether it's Eminem and Royce, whether it's Royce byself. That's
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: how I found out, like, yo, this is name five
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: nine is nice because he you know, so I know this,
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: Gilly and them would come, they go up there, they mob,
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: they kill it, they flowing their spin and they got
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: this ship down. It's but one thing I always used
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: to notice is I know that this show is being
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: recorded in New York, so that means they came from
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: They come from a whole nother state. It's Nigga Royster
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: five nine, and they came from a whole number state
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: to come up here and just just get they ship
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: off at that time. To me, that's what I wanted
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: to do. It's like, I just want to go averywhere
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: and get my shit off. I want to wrap I
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: wanted you know what I'm saying. So it reverts right
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: back to the like, Yo, even if I wasn't making
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: no money off of rap, I probably still talk my ship.
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: Were you around? Uh young money? Cash money? When Gilly
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: was around? Was that prior to you? I was. I
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: wasn't around for it. I was. That was before me.
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: That was before me. Yeah. Yeah. It's crazy to think,
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: like the folklore of whether or not he helped Wayne write.
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: I don't think. I don't think Gilly wrote for Wayne.
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: But Wayne is the type of person if you're around
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: him and you nice, it ain't. I ain't gonna act
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: like I don't know you nice. It's like, Yo, I
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: got some shit y'all tell me how you think this sound.
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: And if you be like, ain't I think on the
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: other part, you could have said that ship like I'd
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: be like, a good idea, yeah, good good look, A
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: good look, and I appreciate that. I bet there's probably
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: some shit like that you wrote for me. You you
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: write for me because you might not even be as
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: nice as me. You right for me. And I'm not
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: saying like the Gilly and Wayne, but I'm just saying
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: like I'm one of them people, my boys, sitting right
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: there to them, and many times like once we done
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: got comfortable enough to the point where he don't look
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: at me like, oh that's big, bro, I can't tell me,
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: you know, I don't want to tell that nigga that shit.
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: Once it got to the point we could be like, hmm,
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: you said this, yeah you can do it and now,
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: and then it to get to a point where he'd
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: be like, I think, well, maybe you probably could have
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: said like, instead of saying this it's cool, does that
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: mean you're right for me? I just sat up here
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: and told you on bedrock the end was the beginning.
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: The beginning was the end. Wayne told me amails it
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: come out the booth real quick. I think you should
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: start it off she ain't and when she missed, that's
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: that's better. And then leave the other part for the other.
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: Does that mean Wayne? Right for me? Right right right?
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: It's my man, it's my boy. We're working on the
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: same product. You know what I'm saying that, But that's
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: how I look at it. That's just me, you know
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Other people might look at it like now,
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: I don't be wanting nobody to help me with nothing cool.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: It's me and it's all right. Let's just say at
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: that time it's me, It's gotta gutta, it's Tiger, it's Wayne,
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: it's Drake, is MacMahon, is Nikki. Before we even go
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: into booth, we're gonna say our verse for everybody in
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: a circle. He'll turn that, turn that down real quick.
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: All I got everybody like this. I don't think we
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: the only crew that used to function like that. I
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: think before you go into booth, CAM wanted to hear
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: your shit too, and Cam gonna be brutally honest and
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: way ain't gonna be. It was times some people might
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: not make it to a song. It was songs I
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: didn't make it too, because Wayne might hear that shit
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: and be like nah nah, or he might get to
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: the studio and we already don't put verses on shit.
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: Before he got there, he planned back listen to it,
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: be like oh oh nah, no, gotta gotta kill you
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: on that one. Take that verse off. Fuck. I'm gonna say,
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. What at that point, it's like,
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: we're probably about to do eight more records tonight. You're
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: not thinking You're not thinking about it like that when
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: you in that crew mode and you and that it's
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: my niggas were bombing on We just bombing on shit.
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, You're not thinking like that.
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: And I think TD he wasn't thinking like that. Q
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: ain't in there with Abs Soul and Kendrick and all
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: of them when they was doing eight things like you're
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: just bombing on shit. You're just bombing on shit. Yeah,
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: that's that's a fair point with the new thing. You're
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: a part of it. You can't speak on all the
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: way yet, right. That's shout out to my partners man
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: some some sort of art like what made you? I
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: guess I want to pivot out of doing the music
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: shit more and doing the video shit and then maybe
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: kind of being more of a personality. Man, I'm about
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: to sound crazy right now. Uh well I could be.
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: And my boy, my boy shouts at my boy Linux.
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: If anybody really been following me, they know, uh. In
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: the pandemic, when the whole quarantine shit started, we started
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: a podcast, and my boy right there, we started a
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: podcast called the Loud Opinions Podcast. Right I would pull
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: up at his crib. We invested in some lights, some speakers,
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: some mics. I got laptop with garage bend. Let's get
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: a mixer. Let's figure out how the inputs and how
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: to do this shit. All right, that work set up
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: my Osmo pocket right here. You got an iPhone eleven.
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: I got an iPhone XL. Let's order some Amazon tripods.
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: Fucking I think this is how it worked. I film
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: you from this angle. I'm gonna film me from this angle,
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: and I'm gonna film both of us on this angle.
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: Go home, get on YouTube, learn how to fucking edit
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: multi caam right right right, so now I'm editing our shit.
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: We ain't getting no views like that. You go pull
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: it up right now, real shit, I ain't gonna lie.
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: You can pull it up right now. I ain't getting
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: no views like that, but we're doing it. Probably did
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: about fourteen, fifteen, twelve, twelve twelve, probably like fourteen. We
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: do like fourteen episodes, right, So we kind of had
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: a point like, yo, what are we doing? You know
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: what I'm saying? Is this shit working? Is it worth it?
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: Do it makes sense? We fell back off doing it.
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: I put out wood paying the walls. So when I
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: put out wood paying the walls, by now we're shooting videos.
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: I'm telling him, like, bro, I know angles I got
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: the camera to the point where he went and bought
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: a camera. Bro, let me get nice to shooting videos
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: by shooting your videos. He was paying a dude to
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: shoot the video. You don't gotta pay me nothing. I'm
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: your boy. But when I need a video done, you
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: could I'll show you what I know and in return
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: we could just bang out. So we're doing that with
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: shooting videos and shit. So now from the podcast, I
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: learned how to edit. That taught me how to edit
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: the videos. So now I'm shooting the videos, I'm editing
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: the videos. I do woodpaying the walls. I'm like, yo,
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: let me try some shit. I'm just trying shit, you
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, trying to get more traction with
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: the project. I'm like, let me do like a little documentary.
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: So I set the tripod up in the studio, filmed
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: myself talking, I take pictures video, also make a little documentary.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: The dude I later found out the dude who came
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: to me with the opportunity for the job shout out
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: with my boy Harrison. He came to me with the
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: situation and I thought it was fake. I thought it
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: was fake, and I was like, Yo, just tell me
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: how much y'all could pay me for what y'all need
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: me to do, you know what I'm saying. So he
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: told me, and I'm like, all right, because you gotta remember,
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: I don't got no manager, I don't got no agent,
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: I don't got no nothing. I just happened to check
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: the email one day and it was like, Yo, we
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: want you to do this right, Let me just reply
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: to this shit. So I replied to it, and I'm
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: gonna just fast forward to the point of what made
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: me want a transition. He was like, Yo, he's twenty three,
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: twenty four years old. So I had to ask him like, Yo,
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: what made you think that this was the fun? Made
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: you come to me? You know what I'm saying, and
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: think that I could even do this shit. I don't
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: have no history in doing this shit or nothing. What
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: made you? And he was like, Yo, I saw your podcast.
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: I watched the podcast episodes, and I watched your documentary,
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: he said, And then from there I went and looked
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: at your battles and all of that. So I'm like, damn,
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: if we wouldn't have never been doing the podcast and
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: I wouldn't just still have that there for you to
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: go look at fifteen episodes of personality and range and
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: different conversations and laughing and joking and all of this shit.
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: Who might have had an opportunity? I might not have
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: had the opportunity if I never would have did that
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: documentary that at the end when the credits rolled, it's say, directed,
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: shot and edited by Jarvis J. Mills. Mills, you wouldn't
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: have came to me and gave me equity and made
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: me an executive producer and brought me in a writer's
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: room for some sure, but you already know I could
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: do this shit. So when I'm like, Yo, this ship
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: is too good, to be true. They like, Nah, this
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: is this is this is destined for you. This is
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: perfect for you, man, you know what I'm saying. So
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: when you it's like, Yo, God brought this to me.
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: That's why I'd be like, can't nobody be like if
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: it wasn't for me, if it wasn't for you, what
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: you ain't got nothing to do with this? I would have.
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: I don't have. I don't even have a team of people.
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: I gotta split my ship with now, which is even better.
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: It's crazy, you know what I'm saying. You know what
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: I'm saying. So with that, it's like, Yo, and I
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: could get up here and be like, when you asked me,
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: do you want to? But you're still baddle again. Fuck though,
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: I don't need to fucking battle nigga, I'm over. It's like, nah,
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: I love that ship. I would probably still battle for free,
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, because it's not It was
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: never about them, And people gonna see that, Yeah, they
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: gonna see it. They gonna see that now with this
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: this era of j Mills, you know what I'm saying,
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: I'm engaged. I'm fucking playing a wedding, you know what
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: I'm saying, I appreciate that. Man. So I'm married. Planning
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: the wedding is the least fun part about that. But
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: it's fun to you know what I'm saying. It's fun
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: to me because it's some news and you gotta figure
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: out who to invite, who not to invite. Okay, how many?
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: How much is that? Let's talk? How much is it
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: per plate? No? No, we're gonna have to cut about
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: fifty motherfuckers. This is the problem. This is the problem.
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: My fiance, she's gonna like this part of the interview.
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: I'm gonna talk about this wedding ship too, right, Yo.
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: Why people just think that they're gonna be invited to
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: your wedding? I don't know what. At what point in
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: life did this start with people just tell you, yeah,
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: because at your wedding. I'm a nah, you might not
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: even be at the wedding. What are you talking? I
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: had about eighty five people on my wedding. I was like,
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: everybody wanted I gotta keep it under a hundred vaccinated man,
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: Yeah you want the bunk. I hit the blunt. Man,
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: I'm not vaccinated, but you're telling me that after I
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: hit the bunt the way he said it. It was like, Yo,
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: are you vaccinated, because I cool you can hit it.
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: That's like, oh, by the way, I'm not vaccinated. And
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: I was gonna tell you enjoy that Corona. I was
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: going to tell you Jesus, I get tested. I get tested. Yeah,
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: I get tested every week, right, and my daughter kids,
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: they get tested at school. All of that with that,
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: but I heard and I heard uh in like I
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: don't know if it's New York on New Jersey. I
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: heard they're not testing the kids. They only testing, uh,
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: the teachers. I could be wrong, I'm just talking. I
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: could be wrong, but I would be real nervous if
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: the kids weren't getting tested because kids is like they
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: real careless and they just when that. Plus, you won't
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: even know if they have it, because most of the time,
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: if a kid has coronavirus, they don't They're usually asymptomatic.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: It's true, so you might not know. You be like
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: kicking it with with your kids, taking them over to
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: Grandma Grandpa's house. Grandma and Grandpa died. Yo, you you
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: know you know what? You know what? I was just
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: telling me about the song and feeling like mellow shit, right,
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: It's so crazy like I always tell you, like anybody
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: who know me, no, Carmelo Anthony my favorite basketball player.
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: You know I'm not saying he's the best. He's your
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: favorite favorite, right of course. So been following him since
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: high school. So I always used to like kind of
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: like run my career like parallel to Mellow or some shit.
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: And I always used to sise to be like, yo,
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: you know, it's so crazy. The only thing I'm missing
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: is like a solo, major album that has done all
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: of these miraculous numbies that. But it's like, what damn
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: is that for me? Or is that for argument sake
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: of the fans or argument sake of your friends and
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: people that because for me, I did way more than
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: I thought I would. When I step back and I
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: look at awards and plaques and I look at shit
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: like that, and how long I've been doing this shit?
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: And people come and go. People don't last twenty years,
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. Like I'll be trying to
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: tell people like, bro, I was a kid. I came
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: in this like I got my first deal at seventeen.
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: I was a fucking kid rapper kind of you know
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: what I'm saying. The book to do the battle shit
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: and do it and do all that. So when you
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: when you when you get to this point, man, you
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: be grateful for a lot of shit. You don't look
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: down on nothing. You You try to look at what's
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: gonna be the fucking next move, what's gonna be the
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: next what's gonna be the next uh, the next thing
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: that I could be a part of. On some j
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: mil's branding myself shit, not like I'm a rapper. It's like, nah,
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: I rap, you know what I'm saying, I fucking I rap,
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: I direct, I produce, I write, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: So everything bringing it back to the to the mellow shit,
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: it all. Everything with me is like always felt like
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: the underdogs. I always felt like I had to do more,
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: Always felt like I had to put out more freestyles.
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: I gotta put out more mixtapes, I gotta I gotta
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: post more tweets, I gotta, I gotta beat because I
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: can't get lost in shit. And in trying to do that,
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: it's like niggas a overlook all the shit you did,
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: So I make you step back and it'd be like,
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: hold on what you did, what you did? And then
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: when I had my downtime. That's why I said to them, Bars,
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: I was telling you, it's like yo, I could see
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: how Mellow could feel like damn. So it's always me.
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: So I'm always the problem. All right, Cool, I'll take
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: that last time I would say, I said, bro, anything
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: that ever happened in my career, I take the blame
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: for it. I can't blame nobody else. I'll take the
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: blame before I blame somebody else, because I sleep better
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: like that. You can rewind to the last interview I
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: said the same thing. Mello took the blame for a
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: lot of shit that wasn't as blame. You know, wasn't
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: his fault, but he still took the blame for it.
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: When he was out the NBA, niggas ragged him and
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: Nigga over he can't buy my body. He came back Portland,
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: did his thing. Yeah, now it was oh, Mellow, Mellow, Melo, Mello,
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: melt don't call now. I be prepared for that ship.
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: That that's why I always say, Man, you be in
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: this ship for as long as I've been in it,
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: You're gonna have some ups and downs. You know what
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: I'm saying. But it's about how do you handle the
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: ups and downs? How do you deal with people that
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: when you came back down, they showed you what it
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: really was. That's what I'm saying. You gotta you gotta
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: learn that ship, man, Like, that's some ship you gotta.
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: I had to learn that thinking everybody your friend, everybody
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: your homie. If I thought everybody was my homie, everybody
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: was my friend, I would go sit and do this
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: with everybody. I know everybody that's fair, I know him,
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: I know what they're doing. I know when they shows
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: come on. And there's plenty times that you could have
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: had me come sit down, listen to me talk. You
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Like, there was plenty of times
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: where a nigga could have Are you gonna do the podcast? Uh?
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: You know with the new situation that might be had,
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: what it makes sense for you to try to bring
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: the podcast back. I was thinking about bringing the podcast back.
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: You know, they're not telling me like I can't do
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: no no other ship like that. So that's just the
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: beauty of it. Like when I was looking at the contract,
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: it's son that I already was doing before this. So
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: it's son that was already emotion you can pull it
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: up and see that I was doing it, so it's
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: not like I took a new job. Right. Well, we
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: can't wait to see what it's gonna be. Hopefully we'll
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: be announcing it soon the album is out, we're gonna
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: have you what have you come back in like six
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: months whenever you announced this. I'm just waiting for them.
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: I'm just waiting for for the announcement and the little
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: press release thing and then I'm right back this guy
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: judge and host Netflix. Really, Fred, I'm just kidding shout
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: to people's absolutely zero inside information. So if I guess
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: that correctly, it was not your fault. I'm not on Netflix.
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: There is no not Netflix. I'm not on none of that.
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: So he's gonna be on HBO Max. Uh anyway, appreciate you, man. Hey,
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: look j Mills, go get the album. Don't call now,
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: and the freestyle's out, so go watch the freestyle. Oh yeah,
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: I'm nice, man, Come on, I'm always gonna be nice.
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: I'm always gonna be always. You can't lose. That is
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: what it is. Boom
