Latest / Podcast - Big 98.7 / Pike DJ'd a High School Prom
Transcript
- 0:00Would you say prom is one of the hallmark moments of a person's life,
- 0:04especially growing up. It's like it all leads to your prom. It is
- 0:07a big deal. So Aman, I had a very eye opening experience this
- 0:12weekend because I do some DJ DJ weddings primarily. However, I had the
- 0:16opportunity to be the DJ at Fargo South's prom, which is awesome. Yeah,
- 0:21Saturday night, and it was you know, I was very excited for
- 0:23it. Great kids, great school, and it was just so interesting because
- 0:28I feel like I've kind of got the wedding thing down. You've got people
- 0:31of all different generations, a lot of weddings. You're going to hear similar
- 0:34music. So yeah, I feel like I got that down. But to
- 0:37play music for just a very specific group of people, high schoolers, it
- 0:41was you. I mean, I know, they're cranking a big ninety eight
- 0:44point seven like it's their day. Ja job. I just went in there,
- 0:47just turned on a radio. You're like, oh, easy, easy,
- 0:49peace. But I mean, there's just so many genres, so many,
- 0:54and that would blow my mind. Here was the interesting thing I found
- 0:57that they wanted to hear, not like a lot of news. It was
- 1:00throwbacks and listen, we all get bit by the nostalgia bug, RIGHTA.
- 1:06I was so proud, Amanda. I didn't play the Macarena. I had
- 1:08it on cue, I had it ready to go if I needed it.
- 1:12But when I played some of the throwbacks that we were dancing to had like
- 1:15our proms growing up, and they went nuts, like when this played and
- 1:19they went crazy. Oh yeah, oh yeah, I mean it still hits.
- 1:23Man, they were going crazy. Now this is where of my college
- 1:26years. But yes, and then I also made the mistake of playing this
- 1:30song, which they loved. However, did they do the dance that we
- 1:34did. It's just my girlfriends and I were to the window to the wall.
- 1:38Then, let me tell you, they were screaming every word and oh,
- 1:42silly me didn't realize I had the unedited version, And so when that
- 1:48chorus hit, yeah, I switched out of that one real quick. And
- 1:51I thought it'd be a good idea. During the chorus when they said tall
- 1:56mother, I thought it would just mute it quick. But then all that
- 1:59did was all you could hear is they screaming. I'm surprised it didn't kick
- 2:02you out after that, you would think those young souls now Here's where I
- 2:06got interesting because I was worn going into it. That prom nowadays has sort
- 2:09of changed compared to like when we were growing up. You know, we
- 2:13loved it. We were there the whole night, We danced the whole night.
- 2:15Then we went to post prompt. No, no, we didn't.
- 2:16We didn't. You didn't. No, I I went and did the grand
- 2:22march, walked in. We were at the We were at the dance for
- 2:25maybe fifteen twenty minutes and then out. Really yeah, see I had stuff
- 2:30everybody is talking about. Yeah, we had. There was h people in
- 2:34our class that stayed for what was it, like the hypnotist and the games.
- 2:38Yeah, I was hypnotized. It was great. Oh yeah, No,
- 2:40we did not. Okay, apparently nowadays, more than ever, kids
- 2:44just aren't staying for the whole dance. So I was warned that dance starts
- 2:47at eight, and they said by nine point thirty, there's a pretty good
- 2:50chance there's gonna be like twenty kids there. And this is far Go South
- 2:53High School, so there's a lot of students. I am not surprised by
- 2:55this. So for the first hour, it was going so well. I
- 2:58mean, kids were loving it. I was having a great time. And
- 3:00then at approximately Amanda nine thirty, I played this song bb Rexit David Getta,
- 3:07Yeah, current hit, you know, and it also samples an old
- 3:12song that we all grew up with, so I thought it was it's perfect
- 3:15and it's it's sort of a club banger. I'm like, this is gonna
- 3:16be great. And by the time bb rexas said this, it went from
- 3:22literally hundreds of kids on the dance floor Amanda to seven. It was shocking.
- 3:28It was where did the mask go? A mass exit through the doorways
- 3:31to go? I don't know. Probably yeah, I'm sure they got had
- 3:36a pizza party, limos waiting, and it just like poof, they was
- 3:39gone. And I thought, what what did I do? So? What
- 3:44is And I don't know if it was you. I mean they already kind
- 3:46of acknowledged the fact, like, hey, they're sticking around for a little
- 3:47bit and then they're out right. So but it was almost like it was
- 3:52planned. It was nine thirty on the nose. I'm like, did they
- 3:53all just agree that nine thirty is when we're all gonna leave? It?
- 3:57Could? I don't think it mattered what club banger you were going with.
- 4:00It would have it would have had to be. I think that really.
- 4:01I think the only reason they stayed that long is because they did have like
- 4:04some some all time bangers going, and then as soon as they heard something
- 4:08that was relatively new that didn't have the nostalgia for them, they were like,
- 4:12all right, and you know, did it hurt your feelings a little?
- 4:15How could it not? No, I'm for sure as a DJ like
- 4:16that, you take that personally. And I was way where you're like,
- 4:20all right, bye, guys, what do you say? Get home?
- 4:24I'm safe. So then the rest of the night, which didn't last very
- 4:27long because it was there was an hour left. Meanwhile, I'm taking requests
- 4:30from the school resource officer because you should have just stopped down out of bb
- 4:36REXA and just went to closing time. Oh that is so great. It
- 4:43was. It was fun. I mean, listen, kids are gonna do
- 4:45what they're gonna do. I can't take it personally because you know, if
- 4:47they they didn't want to stay that long, did they have set up?
- 4:51So do they do post proms? Now? Yeah? Then the post prom
- 4:55was going to be somewhere else, so I think, oh, it sounds
- 4:58like more people go to that, so maybe they just wanted time to go,
- 5:00I don't know, shower, change clothes, you know, you get
- 5:03into some comfies, Yeah, get some food before you get to the big
- 5:05hypnotists and everything. I lead you that at a different location. Yeah,
- 5:10yeah, I mean even we've been intrigued. Really. Our dance was at
- 5:14MSU M and then we went back to the high school in Glendon for the
- 5:16post prom yours all in one place. Yeah, it was just at the
- 5:19high school, and then they set up the commons area for like different places
- 5:24for the locked Yeah. Yeah, yeah, we did not though. Okay,
- 5:29you guys were such cool kids. No, not even that. We
- 5:30just we're so tired after such a long day. We'd just go home and
- 5:33go to bed. In the morning, Big ninety eight point seven time for
- 5:41a little thing we do called is it Weird, where we discuss the things
- 5:45we do in our personal lives, whether or not they are weird or is
- 5:46it everybody else is doing them too? And we are live on our Big
- 5:49ninety eight points have on Facebook page. So good morning if you happen to
- 5:53be watching on there, yeah, good morning, and follow along and of
- 5:56course you can always chime in. So over the weekend, my bonus mom
- 6:00was in town. Gigi bonus mom. Yeah, we call her my bonus
- 6:03mom, my step mom. Okay, and uh, I don't know.
- 6:06I never called my step on my bonus mom. I guess no, it's
- 6:10not too late, Pike, You're right, it's not too late. I
- 6:13try that on for size one of these weekends. All right. So she
- 6:17left yesterday and she came upstairs and she's like, oh my gosh, thank
- 6:21you guys so much. And she just made a comment. She's like,
- 6:24it was like staying at a spa, which we were just like laughing.
- 6:27We're like, we have two crazy kids. It's more of a circus.
- 6:29Wow. It was just like really relaxing. She's like, I loved the
- 6:32bed, and she goes in your shower downstairs, just so fantastic. And
- 6:38I was like, huh, because I've never used the shower downstairs. Yeah,
- 6:42think about it, pressure or what That's what she was saying. So
- 6:45we have our bathroom of course in our bed, attached to our bedroom and
- 6:48use that shower. Yeah, and then our kids have like a bathroom up
- 6:51were that they use. I've never used any other shower. We're going on
- 6:55three years tomorrow that we built our house and I've only used one shower bathroom.
- 6:59Is in one bathroom to shower? Is that weird? No, it
- 7:02wouldn't be weird. Now I excited, you know, Amanda. They say
- 7:05variety is a spice of life, and so sometimes have you ever tried switching
- 7:10sides of the bed just for grins and giggles? That doesn't work for me,
- 7:12but have you tried it? So yesterday I went to take a quick
- 7:15nap and I was on I went on Nick's side, couldn't sleep like it
- 7:18was just so weird to me. Really, yeah, just a different indentation
- 7:23or what. I don't know, it's just the whole situation. It's like
- 7:26it's not my side of the bed. I would encourage you to try using
- 7:29the downstairs bathroom. You know. Sometimes you switch things up just for fun,
- 7:32just for your own personal enjoyment, make things a little different. Yeah.
- 7:35No, And sometimes driving into work, I'll just take a different route.
- 7:39Do you really occasionally roll me off a little? No? I think
- 7:43even if just for a moment, I just felt alive. Oh you know
- 7:46what I mean taking a different road. I'm not going to take twenty eighth
- 7:49streets then Thickner Drive I'm trying to use it right, all right, Amanda?
- 7:55Is it weird that I am very grossed out when, in this case,
- 8:00my nephews who are three and five, drink out of something I'm drinking
- 8:05out of, Like I need to immediately sanitize wash. Like no, I
- 8:09totally get that, really okay? Yeah, because if it's my kids,
- 8:13it's my kids, it's my germs, it's it's just like your husband wife
- 8:16situation. For some reason, it's different. I know it's impossible to say,
- 8:20but if they were my kids, I feel like it would be the
- 8:22same situation. No, because like if I am let's just say we're on
- 8:26a boat and I have a bag of Jurido's uh huh, and somebody else's
- 8:30kids come in and they eat them. I'm probably and even just other people,
- 8:33I'm weird about that. I'm like, eh, I think I think
- 8:37I'm good. Here would you ever? Like I can't even accept and I
- 8:39feel bad. But like on Easter there was candy all over and my nephew
- 8:43Theo's three kept wanting to hand me like jelly beans and I would have to
- 8:48pretend to eat it. I let's be real. Is it because you think
- 8:54they're just like kids because you do you see them like wipe their nose.
- 8:58Yeah, trust Pike, I find it to be disgusting all of the time.
- 9:03You do, but I will just like all grab my kids noses,
- 9:05wipe them. Doesn't face me. But I see another kid with a boogie
- 9:09and I'm like, yeah, like I can't. Oh yeah, we're so.
- 9:13You were sitting last night that came over for a little bit, my
- 9:15nephew's. We were watching them for an hour or so, and Lauren and
- 9:18my wife and I we both have like our own water you know, what
- 9:20do you call them, Stanley's Yeah, your cops, and so THEO thought
- 9:22it'd be funny to sit there and just take drinks out of ours, which
- 9:26is fine. I mean, the kid's thirsty, go for it. But
- 9:28Lauren immediately just start drinking out of hers, and he was like going to
- 9:31town on that little straw. Also a little different because your wife she has
- 9:37younger siblings, so she's probably a little bit more used to that, I
- 9:41guess. But I promise you, Pike, when you have kids, it'll
- 9:43be like this weird filter of just don matter everything. Yeah, you just
- 9:48tune it out. It's not even not even a thought, well that's good
- 9:52because I don't want to be I hate to have kids and then have to
- 9:56always leave the house because I'm grossed out. In ninety seven, today's day
- 10:05the solar eclipse or will we see it at all with the cloud cover?
- 10:11We are of course concerned about James, our afternoon host also contributor of this
- 10:13show. He had traveled to Texas, which apparently, you know, it
- 10:18was the most likely that there wouldn't be clouds, right, and he's been
- 10:22planning this for a year, right, So now he's there and there's just
- 10:26clouds all over the state. So we're concerned for him. One that he's
- 10:28just probably devastated, you know. So we're trying to get him on the
- 10:31phone to see where he's at mentally. He's not answering full disclosure here.
- 10:35We've tried to reach out to him. So either he's just lost emotionally,
- 10:39or he's still sleeping that or maybe he's truly just like trying to figure it
- 10:43out, you know what i mean, Like, if you're going to go
- 10:45that far, how close can you get? You know what I mean?
- 10:48This is a full on experience, and he he had done it back in
- 10:52twenty seventeen, and he was just like describing how wild that moment is right
- 10:56changing, he said, he cried. It was so emotional, just like
- 10:58the heaviness of it. So, good morning, big notty two point seven.
- 11:01My son actually just came through Fargo. He's on his way to Illinois
- 11:07for the clips. Oh really, do you know? Is there supposed to
- 11:09be cloud coverage there? No, it's perfect. It's sunny. There's no
- 11:15clouds there. That's awesome. So he's going to be right in the track.
- 11:18Perfect, Oh my god. Perfect. We got to get our guy
- 11:20James on the phone. Maybe there's time for him to fly to Indiana or
- 11:24Illinois. Yep, are you doing anything for the eclipse? No, but
- 11:28he's going to take pictures to send to me. That's awesome. Yeah,
- 11:31you guys, have a great day. A man, I've done a little
- 11:33research in the last ten seconds. Yeah. And the next total solar eclipse
- 11:37won't be until the year two thousand and forty four, Oh boy, which
- 11:41is twenty years from now. It's just crazy to think. But then also
- 11:45it says that won't even be the entire coast to coast we'll see that twenty
- 11:48forty four will only occur over two states. Guess which ones, Texas and
- 11:56Nope, Montana and North Dakota. Really that's right, So twenty forty four
- 12:01is our year. We're gonna get like, I mean, just get the
- 12:03tourism stuff ready to go. Now. Oh my goodness, everybody's gonna be
- 12:05coming to North Dakota in twenty forty four for the totality, that's right,
- 12:09the full path of it. Ah. I was curious because I was reading
- 12:13stuff like, we got a message from our daycare last night that said,
- 12:16hey, you don't need to bring outdoor stuff because the kids won't be out
- 12:20today. Did they also request your son stop showing as beach. That's been
- 12:24really good about that good, but making sure that they put that at the
- 12:28end of every email. Make it also ps that they don't have the kids
- 12:33outside because of the eclipse, because that's what people are wondering. You always
- 12:37talk about how you have to have these glasses. Then I started thinking,
- 12:39I'm like, oh my gosh, what about because I could just see myself
- 12:43like going home today not realizing it, taking Lula for a walk or letting
- 12:46her out, and then how does she react when this is going on?
- 12:50Because they're saying, your furry friends, they're gonna get uncomfortable because something eerie
- 12:54is gonna feel like it's going on. So they might know. They might
- 12:56either like run like it's fireworks pace, hide, grab their like favorite toys.
- 13:03Who knows, So you gotta make sure you got it all handled.
- 13:05It sounds like they might just end up doing dog stuff, which I wouldn't
- 13:09be too concerned about. I will say I've always had this maybe irrational fear
- 13:13of going blind because of the eclipse. I think there must have been one
- 13:18in like the mid to late nineties when I was young, and I was
- 13:20so scared because they told you that, oh, you can only look if
- 13:24you're looking through like a piece of paper with a pinhole in it. Yes,
- 13:26all of that, and re March twenty seventeen when that one went down,
- 13:30I was scared to death. I'm like, oh gosh, I can't
- 13:33be outside during this. And so I had this fear always growing up of
- 13:35going blind. I was just it was my worst nightmare to go blind,
- 13:39and so I thought, well, my brother would be like, oh,
- 13:41yeah, I'm going to look through this piece of paper. I'm like,
- 13:41I don't want to see it that bad. What are the odds that I
- 13:45did the paper thing right now, I'm going to be blind. No,
- 13:48not worth it? Not worth it? But did they say that that's like
- 13:52kind of a hoax? Hoax? You think it's this big paper trying to
- 13:58make a few bucks. I don't the eclipse glasses Amanda in the morning on
- 14:03big and now Amanda fills the seat. Let's see, well last night he
- 14:11did let the liquor talk you guys. Morgan Walland arrested in Nashville after throwing
- 14:18a chair from the rooftop of Eric Churt's new bar keiefs. He has been
- 14:22charged with three felon accounts of reckless endangerment, assault with the deadly weapon,
- 14:26in a misdemeanor disorderly conduct. A judicial commissioner is about to set his bond.
- 14:31I guess he was released at like three point thirty this morning. So
- 14:35let me ask you, did the chair hit somebody? Do? We'll assuming
- 14:39not because I think that would be I mean, first of all, yeah,
- 14:43could have killed. I think it's like the it could have been this
- 14:45way and it didn't. I think that would have been the bigger interesting.
- 14:48I don't know how you can have an assault charge if you just throw a
- 14:50chair into empty space, but tempted. Yeah, I guess I really don't
- 14:54know you you just can't. And they said he was seen laughing about it.
- 15:00Oh really like it was like a goof rather than like a in a
- 15:03rage throwing a chair. So yeah, no, I don't know, man.
- 15:07This is a this is sort of a what they call a trend with
- 15:09this cat. Yeah, this is not okay at all. And this whole
- 15:13family, the situation is wild. We've been keeping up with the Miley Cyrus
- 15:18saga. So her little sister Noah was dating her stepdad who now is her
- 15:22stepdad. Okay, maybe she was dating the guy who eventually would go on
- 15:28to marry her mom, making him her stepdad. It's that's more fun to
- 15:31say that. But now do you remember Miley's ex, Liam Hemsworth. Of
- 15:35course they haven't been together in a while, but now Noah is like liking
- 15:41his posts on Instagram and it's like a thirsty photo of Liam. He has
- 15:45no shirt on, he's just kind of looking real sexy, good looking man.
- 15:48And that just feels like it's all out of spite, like I'm just
- 15:50gonna I'm just gonna, Hey, that's gross. I don't like her.
- 15:54There's just too much cross pollination going on here, and there's a lot of
- 15:58people not just in the world, but even in your own little city.
- 16:00I mean, just please anybody but that right, Gypsy Rose. You know
- 16:06her strange husband, Ryan Anderson, Well, he is speaking out about the
- 16:08couple. They called it quits. She is still just out gallivanting now with
- 16:12her ex, which is just very bizarre. The whole thing is very odd
- 16:18to me, but so is this. This is what he had to say.
- 16:19You know, I just thank everybody for the support. It's been great.
- 16:23I'm just living my life. Guys, y'all. We'll see what really
- 16:29happened on Lifetime. Uh. We were filming a lot, so uh,
- 16:34stay tuned for that. I hate that we're giving this bozo any sort of
- 16:38attention. This guy and then her. It is just and I watch so
- 16:42bad to be like, oh my gosh, I'm not gonna watch it,
- 16:45but you know, I'll be like one of the first people that'll be too
- 16:48main for this. I mean, it's just this guy is first of all,
- 16:52got to be weirdo. I mean, come on, I'm sorry,
- 16:55but if you're writing letters to somebody in prison marrying them. There's something wrong
- 17:00there personality wise. And now he's on lifetime. I should be on lifetime.
- 17:06Yeah, this idiot. What would be what would be the reason?
- 17:10I don't know, like a low standards documentary, Yeah, kind of like
- 17:12a making of the band, behind the scenes of what goes down. Ye
- 17:17see. Now that's what people want to see, is like in the morning
- 17:22on a big nunty eight point seven. I want to see what you think
- 17:26because I think this would have been very helpful growing up had my parents done
- 17:29with this. Millennial mom has gone viral for doing charging her three young children
- 17:34rent, oh boy, rent, and they are six, eight, and
- 17:38nine years old. How are they earning their money? Well, that's that's
- 17:42kind of my main question, Like is it your money that you're giving back
- 17:45to yourself because it is a okay, it is this mythical thing called an
- 17:52allowance. They're getting six dollars a week to be exact. Okay, rent's
- 17:57pretty cheap, but that house is then huh ok So every week, I'm
- 18:00sorry, every month, on the first of each month, the three kids
- 18:04are required to pay one dollar for rent, not a bad deal, a
- 18:11dollar for groceries, and one dollar for utilities. This is great. So
- 18:15they track it on a budget tracker, how much they're spending, how much
- 18:18they have left. They set a dollar aside in an envelope for each of
- 18:22the bills. And it's just a great way for them to learn in a
- 18:26safe way because you know, if you don't pay rent one month, you're
- 18:29not probably getting thrown out, although that I would like to see that done,
- 18:33just to really drive the message. Yeah, right, you've picked your
- 18:37own six year old. But do you, I mean, are you doing
- 18:40anything like this at all in your I mean they're not quite to that point
- 18:42yet. Maybe your kids, but yeah, no, I mean we have
- 18:45really been trying to teach them savings, like that's kind of our big thing.
- 18:48It's like, hey, if they get money, they put it in
- 18:51their piggy bank. They started bank accounts over at my kind of bank over
- 18:55Like first it's birthday, like that was really really cool. But moving forward,
- 18:59it's for us. You just have your chores. They have minimal things
- 19:03that they do. They help unload the dishwasher. They know that they have
- 19:06to put their laundry in the washing machine, which just like helpful things.
- 19:10Oh that's very nice, you know. They they are obsessed with the vacuum
- 19:12cleaner. They love vacuuming. Oh yeah, you said that. It's kind
- 19:17of crazy. But yeah, anytime they can organize and clean up, go
- 19:21for it now. But I'm not. We're giddy. We'll just do like
- 19:25that. Okay, now you can have dairy Queen this week or something.
- 19:29Well for now, yeah exactly, and eventually though, I like this,
- 19:32like starting them young, Like I just had no concept of money until I
- 19:37was in college. Honestly, it was so dumb even college, I know,
- 19:41same Like, it was not until maybe a year ago that I even
- 19:45had a budget, like a spreadsheet with what bills I had. Otherwise I
- 19:48was just really eyeball in it. I remember I was going to college in
- 19:52Colorado and I had lived with my dad for like the first six months,
- 19:56and my mom was way more relaxed when it came to spoiled Me Rod.
- 20:00That's just that was the reality of it. It was it is what it
- 20:03is. Moved in by my dad and I had an overdraft fee that had
- 20:08gone through my account and I didn't know they like sent that home, and
- 20:12so my dad had text he called me and it's like, hey, let's
- 20:15meet for breakfast. I'm like, oh my gosh, my dad wants to
- 20:18meet me for breakfast. That's so sweet. And we're just sitting there talking
- 20:21and he just kind of slides over this thing. He's like, Hey,
- 20:25you can't live your life like this, and you can't be in debt.
- 20:27You always need to have X amount of dollars. You need to do this.
- 20:30And I just remember from that moment on that was it. What did
- 20:34he slide over the overdraft fee slipt? Yeah, my mind was running wild.
- 20:40Oh yeah, but yeah, from that moment on, it was just
- 20:44like, you know, you have those like powerful moments in your life.
- 20:48I wasn't scared. My dad wasn't like a scary guy. But it was
- 20:51just kind of that boy in my head. He was sliding a gun over
- 20:56again like a man in the morning on big. I thought this was really
- 21:03sweet. I was reading online about a family heirloom that this woman had created
- 21:07for her family, and she thought, and now she's an elderly lady,
- 21:10so she's kind of getting to that age where you just sort of accepting your
- 21:14sort of to put it in golf terms, you're on the back nine.
- 21:18Okay, yes, no, I get it. No, it's Master's Week.
- 21:21I understand your reference here. I appreciate it. So she wanted to
- 21:22leave something for her family for generations to come, and I think that's sweet.
- 21:26So what she concocted was a necklace. But you know, each necklace
- 21:30has something like a piece, right, and she thought it would be best
- 21:36to use one of her toenails as sort of the decorative piece of the necklace.
- 21:41As the new family are talking, knock it off that I don't discuss.
- 21:45I knew you would love this. Okay, First of all, I
- 21:48hate feet, but toenails, and of course everybody's mind just went to and
- 21:53I don't care if you're eating breakfast, and I apologize in advance, but
- 21:57like a yellow disk dustine thick grandma toenail. Of course, yeah, the
- 22:03big and it's the big toe. Oh because what else? And so I
- 22:07thought it was great because tonails, as far as I can tell, I
- 22:11think they kind of just hold their current state, right. I think they're
- 22:15already decayed enough. Got to tell ya, I haven't collected them, so
- 22:21I'm not sure the longngevity we've all collected them in you know, like when
- 22:25you quit your toenails and you collect them on the arm of the couch for
- 22:30justice. Yeah, and then you throw them away. Sure, oh that
- 22:33is just so each child, grandkid, whatever, is going to have some
- 22:37sort of toenail necklace. You can wear it to school, wear it on
- 22:40dates. It's fun to wear things that like have a story. I mean
- 22:45that is a that's a talking Yeah, I'm sure. Do you have any
- 22:48family heirlooms? Okay, so my grandpa, his mom, so my great
- 22:53grandma, she had an entire room full of dulls, like porcelain doll Oh
- 23:00creepy. Correct. So a few like granddaughters and every we ended up getting
- 23:06them, and I will never forget. Before my grandpa passed, he was
- 23:10like giving us these dolls. He's like, here you go, oh grandparents
- 23:14will love just yes, giving stuff away. And so I felt I didn't
- 23:18want to throw it away. Nick's like we're putting, we're throwing this away,
- 23:22like this is creepy. It's creepy as a gross or is it like
- 23:23a really nice one? See, in my opinion, there's really no nice
- 23:27porcelain dolls. Like I think they're all pretty creepy. It was in the
- 23:30box whatever. So underneath our stairs we have like you know, the things
- 23:34that you're just like, what do you do with this? Throw it in?
- 23:37I have like a couple pieces of like china that I've been given that's
- 23:41like just so you know, this is great great grandmas of what. Okay,
- 23:45I'm not I'm just not at that place where I'm going to be using
- 23:48this one random place. You're never gonna use it. It's just you keep
- 23:52it. And so that's where I struggle with that too, because when my
- 23:56dad, like when he was still alive, he gave me a lot of
- 23:59stuff from his dad. So my grandpa, who yes I didn't really know,
- 24:02he died when I think I was six maybe, but it's like a
- 24:06jacket that he had from the war, and oh see that's cool. Well
- 24:10it is cool and it's not like a military jacket. It's just like it's
- 24:14like military color, but it's literally just a winter jacket that they probably issued
- 24:18the people in the war got it. And so it's like I don't like
- 24:21stuff, you know, I'm real, I guess minimalist, you know,
- 24:23like I don't like holding onto things. I throw a lot of things away.
- 24:26So it's like a guy threw it away, you know what he's where
- 24:30am I supposed to put that. I'm moving all over the place and this
- 24:33is where so Land pants out at the lake, Like there's still tons of
- 24:37like for my stepdad, my mom stuff is out there. It's like if
- 24:41somebody were to ever have them, Like, I don't know what to do
- 24:44with all this. It's still like I have all my high school stuff still
- 24:47there. I know, when do you throw that too? Well? And
- 24:49that's just it. I Nick's parents they every time they come up because they
- 24:52are always getting rid of his stuff, like bring us like a box of
- 24:56his things. I'm like, oh boy, like where are we gonna put
- 24:59all this? But you don't I want to toss it. I get it.
- 25:02It is hard. It's hard for I'll tell you this from experience.
- 25:04It's hard for like ten minutes and then you just kind of move on.
- 25:07Can just move on trending Now, here's what you need to know. South
- 25:14Carolina finish off a perfect season with an NCAA championship, beating Iowa eighty seven
- 25:19to seventy five. That was their third title in eight years. Caitlyn Clark
- 25:22came out firing, dropping eighteen points in the first quarter, which was a
- 25:26record for a single quarter in the women's basketball title game. But at the
- 25:30end of it, I mean you could just they were pulling away and you
- 25:33could just you could feel the pain like it was just like one of those
- 25:36like Caitlyn was trying everything she shot just kept missing. And South Carolina's coach,
- 25:41of course, very emotional at the end of it. But then when
- 25:45she was sitting there talking, she took a moment to really acknowledge Caitlyn.
- 25:48And I want to personally thank Caitlyn Clark for lifting up our sport. She
- 25:55carried a heavy low for our sport and it just is not gonna stop.
- 26:00You're on a collegiate tour, but when she is the number one pick in
- 26:03a w NBA draft, she's gonna she's gonna lift that league up as well.
- 26:07So so Kaylen Clark, if you're out there, you are one of
- 26:12the goats of our games. We appreciate you. That's classy. That was
- 26:17really nice here. So I wonder how it will be now that Caitlin's gone.
- 26:21Is there gonna be the same interest going forward or is it just gonna
- 26:23kind of go back to what it was? No, I hear you the
- 26:26same conversation we were having Yesterdom, Like, Okay, am I gonna be
- 26:30as involved? Is it gonna be? I mean, is this hype gonna
- 26:33roll over? Because all of the girls that we've been following this year,
- 26:36that graduating class now going over to the WNBA. Will this spark where it's
- 26:40like, hey, now we're like it's that competitive now in WNBA. That
- 26:44would be pretty cool. That would be cool. But you've got to have
- 26:45stars for people to be interested. It's a lot like to compare it to
- 26:48golf in the what the PGA is going through where they're losing all their stars
- 26:52to the live tour. It's like, I find myself not really caring unless
- 26:56it's the Masters for example this week. So yeah, absolutely, oh today
- 27:06his eclipse day. It's finally here. For some it's kind of up.
- 27:08Sorry, did you want to did you want to bust it out a little?
- 27:11I was saying the Dan Band version. Do you ever see old School?
- 27:15Remember that? Yeah? The Dan Band? Yeah, So he throws
- 27:18the a tasteful F bomb or two in this song. It's such a good
- 27:22jam. But maybe it's just a Monday for you, and it might actually
- 27:26just be right here in the FM area because well, the path of totality
- 27:29for the eclipse will cover some major cities millions of people. Not all of
- 27:33them will have a chance. But here's the problem. There's a lot of
- 27:36weather issues. So around twenty million people in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas,
- 27:40and Oklahoma they're facing weather forecasts that really could be severe today, so the
- 27:45heavy cloud cover. My heart is going out to James right now because our
- 27:49afternoon guy a year ago, he had booked this trip. He had seen
- 27:53the eclipse like four years ago. Yeah, seventeen, Yes, he said,
- 27:57he sobbed it was so beautiful, so we had to go back.
- 28:00Yes, So now he's down in San Antonio, Texas. He had mentioned
- 28:04about how he they're gonna get in a car and try to find a clear,
- 28:07covered spot or clear area so that they can see it. But partial
- 28:11eclipse today here in Fargo will be one twenty total eclipse at two thirty.
- 28:15Again, you're not supposed to look at it without glasses. Pets may act
- 28:18a little weird. We've all seen all this, but today's supposed to be
- 28:22rainy and cloudy and you're not going to see anything. Don't think it's gonna
- 28:25be another day. I feel bad for him. Like you, Amanda.
- 28:26It's much like when I went to Las Vegas to see Blink onin eighty two.
- 28:30Totally had that stot. Yeah, the night of the show they canceled,
- 28:33and so now it's like, well, okay, I guess I'm still
- 28:36in Vegas. So for James, you know, go check the album O
- 28:38out, Go get some authentic text mex but just a just a jab for
- 28:44sure. Yeah, and Pike, we were just talking about this, Pat
- 28:47say, Jack his final Wheel of Fortune episode. I thought it was gonna
- 28:51be maybe September. They just released it yesterday, June third, after forty
- 28:55years, forty one seasons, that will be it June seventh. Excuse me,
- 28:57I said, June third, June seventh, Well, which is it?
- 29:00I've got a calary app out right now. Yeah, so he's actually
- 29:03going to continue to consult the show for three years. I did not know
- 29:07that. You say, June seventh, Yeah, you know what's that day?
- 29:11It's Low Standards opening for Eve six. We're gonna have to a DVR
- 29:15Wheel of Fortune. I can't can't miss any of all of that. But
- 29:18yeah, so this has been on since nineteen eighty three, Pat Vanna and
- 29:22now Seacrest is going to be taking over with Pat as a consultant. Do
- 29:26you think he's going to be like, Okay, Ryan, when you're when
- 29:29you're talking to the contestants, I'm going to need you to be. I
- 29:32just would love to know the behind the scenes consulting and how that's going.
- 29:34Or that's just them basically giving him a paycheck for a little while longer.
- 29:37Yeah, that could be too, who knows. All Right, like I'd
- 29:40mentioned today, it is going to be cloudy, rainy, and high forty seven.
