The first phrase you'll need is 'Ho bisogno di...' which means 'I need...' Lucas: Ho bisogno di... Listen again: Ho bisogno di... Luna: Ho bisogno di... Got it. So I could say 'Ho bisogno di medicine'? Lucas: Perfect. And if you have a specific ache, say 'Ho mal di testa' — I have a headache. Lucas: Ho mal di testa. Luna: Ho mal di testa. That's easy. Mal di testa, head pain. Lucas: Right. Now, to ask if they have something for your issue, say 'Avete qualcosa per...?' — Do you have something for...? Lucas: Avete qualcosa per...? Luna: Avete qualcosa per il mal di testa? Lucas: Exactly. And the pharmacist might ask for a prescription: 'La ricetta, per favore?' — 'The prescription, please.' Lucas: La ricetta, per favore. Luna: La ricetta, per favore. So they say that if you need a prescription medicine. Lucas: Exactly. And of course, you'll want to ask the price: 'Quanto costa?' Lucas: Quanto costa? Luna: Quanto costa? That one I remember from the market episode. Lucas: Good memory. So let's put it together. Imagine you have a headache and you walk into a pharmacy. Lucas: You say: 'Buongiorno. Ho mal di testa. Avete qualcosa per il mal di testa?' Luna: Buongiorno. Ho mal di testa. Avete qualcosa per il mal di testa? Lucas: Perfect. Then the pharmacist might hand you something and say 'La ricetta, per favore?' if it's prescription. But for common painkillers, you usually don't need one. Luna: Oh, that's good to know. So then I'd just ask 'Quanto costa?' Lucas: Right. And after paying, 'Grazie, arrivederci.' Let's practice the whole exchange fast. I'll be the pharmacist. Lucas: Buongiorno, posso aiutarla? Luna: Buongiorno. Ho mal di testa. Avete qualcosa per il mal di testa? Lucas: Certo. Ecco qualcosa. La ricetta, per favore? Luna: Ah, no, non ho la ricetta. Lucas: Va bene, allora questo va bene. Costa cinque euro. Luna: Va bene. Quanto costa? Oh, cinque euro. Ecco. Lucas: Grazie, arrivederci. Luna: Arrivederci e grazie. Lucas: Great job, Luna. You handled that perfectly. Luna: Thanks. I love how practical these phrases are. I feel like I could actually manage in a real pharmacy now. Lucas: That's the goal. And you know, it's listeners like you who make this show possible.
