- 2:35We've got Sam Bartlett checking in from the Sydney, Australia
- 2:40area. So welcome to the show Sam.
- 2:43Thanks for being here. Great to be here, Jesse.
- 2:45Thanks for having me. It's my pleasure, man.
- 2:48You're the, I think the, I'm trying to think now, you're
- 2:52probably the second Australian that I can recall who's appeared
- 2:57on the show. I had a gentleman come on the
- 3:00show 1 time years ago and I don't remember where in
- 3:04Australia he is, but he's also into like Norse paganism and,
- 3:10and into more of like the shamanic animistic healing
- 3:14aspects of things. That's his, that's his gig, I
- 3:18guess you could call it. But yeah, it's always, it's
- 3:21always a pleasure to get people internationally that want to
- 3:24come on the show and and talk about their experiences.
- 3:27So you're in the middle of your summer.
- 3:29We were talking about this offline where as I was saying
- 3:31before, for those of us here in the United States, this is in
- 3:35the middle of our winter. So, and it's also, you know,
- 3:38for, for folks that listen or watch, you know, while I'm
- 3:40talking to Sam right now, it's it's Saturday night for me, but
- 3:45Sam is coming to, to me from the future.
- 3:48It's it's it's what is it Sunday morning for you?
- 3:50Sunday morning. Oh, actually, actually Sunday
- 3:52afternoon. It's 11 minutes past noon. 11
- 3:55minutes past noon. OK, all right, that's crazy for
- 3:58me to think like, you know, not just another country, but it's
- 4:01it's a whole whole other day. So very cool, man.
- 4:04All right, dude. Well, like I said, pleasure to
- 4:06have you here. Pleasure to have an Australian
- 4:08represented on the show. So I don't know a whole lot
- 4:12about, you know, we've had some emails going back and forth a
- 4:14bit. I've, I've checked out some of
- 4:16the, the links that you've sent me with your, your social media,
- 4:21mainly Facebook, I think, but you've also got some other
- 4:24things out here going on. So give me a background or give
- 4:27us, all of us here actually the listeners and the viewers, a
- 4:30background of, you know, kind of who you are and what what it is
- 4:35that you're doing in your part of Midgard.
- 4:39Happy to do that. Yeah.
- 4:41So it's always difficult when someone asks me that question
- 4:45because I've just got so many avenues where I pull the work
- 4:49that I'm doing from now. And I suppose I'll start with my
- 4:54background here in this country. I grew up, I was born and, and
- 4:57grew up in a place called Gunnedah, which is northern NSW
- 5:01and NSW is, is for people who aren't aware, your listeners.
- 5:06It's probably the largest or the most populous state in
- 5:10Australia. And that's a small country town.
- 5:14There's around 10,000 people. So I grew up there and it's on
- 5:18Aboriginal land called the Camillaroy tribe and I grew up
- 5:24in country NSW. So I moved around a little bit.
- 5:27My father moved lots of jobs. He worked for a local council
- 5:31and we moved around a little bit as a child, so I had, you know,
- 5:35various places. I lived in country NSW and then
- 5:40after I finished school I moved to a place called Newcastle,
- 5:43which is on the coast of NSW just north of Sydney, probably
- 5:48about two hours, 2 1/2 hours north of Sydney and started
- 5:50university there, did a communications degree and then,
- 5:54you know, worked various jobs. Started, started my first job as
- 5:58a journalist actually for a country paper out in a place
- 6:01called Orange, which is about 3 hours West of Sydney.
- 6:05And then moved around a little bit with that, that role.
- 6:09And then I was headhunted by a politician and went into
- 6:13politics. Yeah, I went into politics
- 6:16working as a media advisor for a politician.
- 6:18And then for about probably nearly 20 years, I was in
- 6:23politics, working in various roles in government.
- 6:26I actually ended up working for the Deputy Prime Minister in
- 6:29this country at one stage. And everyone in this country
- 6:33knows who he is. I won't name him, but people
- 6:36over there would never have heard of him.
- 6:39And but he was quite, quite a popular politician.
- 6:41And he's been in the news over here quite a lot recently.
- 6:46But that that sort of worked. It's never fulfilled me.
- 6:48There was just something off about it.
- 6:50It's just felt wrong and the people I dealt with really
- 6:55didn't align with my values in politics.
- 6:58It's a dirty game, you know, you see a lot of what goes on in
- 7:01American politics, particularly at the moment.
- 7:03It's there's a lot going on. And I just wanted more from
- 7:06life, really. And I went through the spiritual
- 7:10awakening, so to speak, and went through a few different, I
- 7:15suppose, systems and systems of belief.
- 7:18I looked into Gnosticism. I looked into the Kabbalistic
- 7:21stuff, Rosarucionism and various things that I practiced just
- 7:27never felt right and never really aligned.
- 7:29Like while there was a lot of interesting things that I
- 7:31learned, it just never, you know, it never sat right in my
- 7:36body. It just didn't feel like it was
- 7:37me. And then my father did a
- 7:41genealogy and discovered that our family was originated.
- 7:46The name surname originated from Normandy and as probably a lot
- 7:51of your listeners would know, Normandy was settled by the
- 7:54Norse, the Northman. And one of my relatives was a
- 8:00general or a knight, one of the one of the the commanders in the
- 8:04army for William the Conqueror that invaded England in 1066 and
- 8:10his family, well, my family settled lands in Sussex in the
- 8:15Sussex area. I think that's in southern
- 8:18England. Yep, Yep.
- 8:20That's still in the family's hands to this day.
- 8:22And sort of that that started the journey to me to find out
- 8:25more about my blood and MyHeritage.
- 8:28And then I did a journey on. A lot of your listeners probably
- 8:33would have heard of ayahuasca, which is a lot of people don't
- 8:36know what that is. Yes, mother.
- 8:38Ayahuasca, Yeah. Yes, and I went on a fairly deep
- 8:41journey with that and I discovered it, went even further
- 8:45back and discovered an ancestor that was a Viking explorer or a
- 8:50Norse explorer that actually went to North America.
- 8:53And I was deep in that journey with him.
- 8:57And there was also some connections made with Native
- 8:59American tribes there. So I do have a Native American
- 9:04connection as well. And that's too which I've
- 9:07discovered since the Lakotan people, which is a from what
- 9:12I've studied, is an off offshoot of the Sioux Indian tribes.
- 9:16Yep. Yeah, and that just prompted me
- 9:20to look deeper into Norse Paganism.
- 9:22And then the rooms actually started to make themselves
- 9:25known. I started when I started looking
- 9:27into MyHeritage and looking into all of these spiritual
- 9:30practices. Various things started to awaken
- 9:33my psychic powers, just various shamanistic powers and so on.
- 9:37And the more I delve into those, the more I found that Norse
- 9:42Paganism and Heathenry was it just felt right.
- 9:46It connected with my DNA and connected with my blood.
- 9:48It just really brought me to life.
- 9:52And when I started using the runes, I found that instead of
- 9:56tarot, which I'd started to use, I just picked them up really
- 10:00quickly. It just felt right.
- 10:03And the more I use them, the more I picked up.
- 10:06And I was, I was amazed at how natural they felt and how alive
- 10:11I felt when I was using them. And then of course, it just kept
- 10:15getting deeper and deeper and deeper my connection to the
- 10:17runes. And then of course, the gods
- 10:19started to show themselves. And with the first one, it
- 10:22wasn't actually Odin, it was Freya.
- 10:25I connected with her in, in nature.
- 10:28I just went out on a walk in nature and I was sitting near a
- 10:30river and she, she came to me and started speaking.
- 10:35And she's actually appeared to my daughter as well and
- 10:38connected with her. But then that started the
- 10:41journey with the gods. And Odin came through to me.
- 10:44And yeah, this is sort of that's led me to where I am now.
- 10:48I've had a deep connection with a lot of the gods.
- 10:51Odin's probably the strongest, but I have a relationship with
- 10:55him. He's, I would consider him a
- 10:57friend and a mentor and a guide rather than a God that you know,
- 11:02you sit down and worship. That's unlike as you would know
- 11:06and other people who practice Norse paganism would know.
- 11:09It's not not about worship. It's about working with the gods
- 11:13and allowing them to come into your life to challenge you and
- 11:16to help you grow. It's not like you know,
- 11:19Christians who believe a lot in, you know, worship and and giving
- 11:24your life over to whatever God they worship.
- 11:28Right. Yeah.
- 11:29And so if does that give you a a a sense of where I am now and I
- 11:33was. Yeah, yeah, that's a, that's a,
- 11:35that's quite a, that's quite a detailed and yeah, you had
- 11:40quite, quite the journey to get to where you are.
- 11:42So how many years does this span would you say from when you
- 11:47arrived at the discovery of your European ancestors and, and, and
- 11:52where you are now? Like how many years have passed
- 11:54since that time? Well, it's, yeah, it's been a
- 11:57very short time, I would say only three or four years where
- 12:02all of this is happening. Yeah.
- 12:04And like I said, everything just happened and activated very
- 12:07quickly. And what I would say about that
- 12:11is I didn't learn anything new. I just remembered all of these
- 12:15things just just sort of clicked and clicked into place.
- 12:18And yeah, it, a lot of people are very surprised when I say
- 12:22that it's, it's been, you know, a recent discovery.
- 12:25I don't know. I lose track of time so I'd have
- 12:28to look at a year I suppose. Yeah, time's not real.
- 12:30Anyway, it's just a. Oh, no.
- 12:34But it's no more than five years that all of this has started to
- 12:37happen. And yeah, I think just before
- 12:40COVID is when the spiritual sort of switch just went off in
- 12:45inside. And then I started looking
- 12:46deeper into things, and that's led me to here.
- 12:50Yeah. Fascinating.
- 12:53I always love to hear people's origins, you know, origin
- 12:56stories, if you will, because we see like we as many people as
- 13:02I've talked to, you know, I hear a lot of common themes or a lot
- 13:05of common. Yeah, probably one of the most
- 13:08common ones. And a little bit of my story is,
- 13:10is, is that as well Is, is that, you know, things weren't feeling
- 13:15right. I was raised Christian, you
- 13:18know, and then I, you know, Vikings, the TV show was a big
- 13:23blip on the map for people to they saw that.
- 13:26And then for some right it, there was this insurgency of, of
- 13:30I'm a Viking or I'm, you know, my Norse ancestor was, you know,
- 13:34Ragnar Lothbrok and all this nonsense.
- 13:36But but it did it put like a focus for people to to explore
- 13:40their their ancestry, to connect with their ancestors more.
- 13:44And that's what, you know, a lot of what Heathenry is, is our
- 13:49connection to our ancestors. So the gods are part of that
- 13:53because that's, that was their, that was their belief.
- 13:56That was their, that's what they were, where their worldview was,
- 13:58was framed around how they perceived everything around
- 14:01them, the land, their connection with it.
- 14:05The gods were, were part of that.
- 14:07And so it's an ancestral thing. So I'm always keen on hearing
- 14:11about, you know, when people find paganism in the Northern
- 14:15European paganism, whether it's dramatic or Scandinavian, it's
- 14:20always really cool to hear when that part comes out where they
- 14:23like I discovered this thing about my ancestors, you know,
- 14:27and, and it's very cool, man. Thank you for, thank you for
- 14:31sharing that. So, yeah, you, you, you're in
- 14:35Australia, which, you know, they have their own native or
- 14:39indigenous people as well. So you're, you know, you're,
- 14:42you're practicing something of a, of a, of a belief that is not
- 14:46native to the land, but it's integrated into the landscape.
- 14:50I'm sure there's a lot of things that I'm, you know, you know,
- 14:53even in the short time that you've gotten into this, I'm
- 14:56sure that there's syncretism that you, that you would say
- 15:00exists, right? Would you, do you have anything
- 15:03that comes to mind that you've seen or experienced locally or
- 15:05regionally that were indigenous perhaps that you've found
- 15:10similarities with or there's a nuance to or anything like that
- 15:13about, you know, native Australian or Aboriginal
- 15:17practices or anything that you've been exposed to that in
- 15:19compares to the Norse or dramatic side of things?
- 15:22Yeah, absolutely. The the spirits of this land are
- 15:25very strong and they're still present and I've connected with
- 15:29them on a number of occasions. One thing that I try and
- 15:33remember, I forget a lot of the time, but when I'm entering a
- 15:37new piece of land or a new area, I'll ask the local land spirits
- 15:41for entry for permission to enter.
- 15:44And I've been denied entry in some places where I haven't
- 15:51shown the proper respect to the land.
- 15:53And not, not in not intentionally, but I've been
- 15:56reminded that I need to ask permission to enter that land.
- 15:59I remember I was walking through an area of the Blue Mountains
- 16:02which is just nearby here. I did live up there for a while
- 16:05until recently, and I was being LED along this path by a pair of
- 16:10black cockatoos, which are native birds that that you would
- 16:14have seen the the the the most popular breed of that bird is
- 16:19called the Sulphur Crested Cockatoo.
- 16:21It's. Yeah, the big white ones and the
- 16:23all sassy. One yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 16:25They, you see them a lot on YouTube and things, you know,
- 16:27swearing at people. Right.
- 16:29Yeah, yeah, Cheeky lot of them. Yeah, there's a lot of them
- 16:32around here. One bit me not long ago when I
- 16:34tried to pat it. But anyway, there there's a, a
- 16:38breed called the black Cockatoo and they're, they're a little
- 16:41bit shyer. There's not as many of them
- 16:43around, but you do see them a lot in this area.
- 16:46And I've connected with them and they're, they're my local spirit
- 16:50guide, my local animal spirit guide.
- 16:53And they always hang around in pairs, a male and a female.
- 16:57And I was just walking on this path.
- 16:59I'd never been before. And these cockatoos just landed
- 17:04just nearby. And I stopped and paid attention
- 17:08because I didn't know where I was going.
- 17:09I just thought, I've got to walk.
- 17:10I've just got to walk, walk, walk.
- 17:12I was guided to go out there and walk.
- 17:15And I stopped and I just said, OK, well, where do I have to go?
- 17:18Said to this cockatoo. And it just flew off down the
- 17:20path. And I just followed it and kept
- 17:24following it. And then I was guided to go to
- 17:26this space that I was the only one there.
- 17:30I didn't see anyone else. I actually know I saw one jogger
- 17:32come past me. But when I was in this area,
- 17:34there was no one around. And that's very unusual for this
- 17:36type of for for this area at this time of the year because it
- 17:41was last summer. And I just learned that you need
- 17:46to actually ask permission to enter the land.
- 17:48And as I was walking into this new spot that these cockatoos
- 17:51guided me to this little, it was only about that big.
- 17:56It was like a little butterfly. I don't know what kind of
- 17:59butterfly it was, but it landed on the path in front of me and
- 18:01started flapping its wings like angrily.
- 18:04I could feel the anger from this thing.
- 18:06And so. Oh, OK, I better stop and pay
- 18:11attention. And then I asked for permission
- 18:14to enter the land and I just flew off down the path and I
- 18:17took that as permission to enter the land.
- 18:21And that's, that's a sort of a good example of how the local
- 18:27land spirits are still present. And if you have awareness and
- 18:31show respect and they work with you.
- 18:33And that the reason I went to that area, that's when I
- 18:36discovered and became deeply entrenched with Nordic animism,
- 18:40because a lot of things have just unfolded on my path as I've
- 18:43gone along. And that was my introduction to
- 18:47Norse animism and connecting with various things.
- 18:50You know, everything in the environment, according to Norse
- 18:52animism has a spirit, even the stones.
- 18:55That's, that's a lot of the, the, your listeners and you'll
- 18:58be aware the stones, the sticks. And I just sat down in this
- 19:02place and I just connected with the land and everything that was
- 19:04in that area, the stones, the sticks, the trees, and I could
- 19:08literally feel the spirit of everything in that particular
- 19:11area of land. And I'm going to hold an event
- 19:13there one day just to introduce local people into Nordic
- 19:17animism, but also bring in some local Aboriginal elements.
- 19:21And ever since then, ever since that particular moment, I've
- 19:25connected very well with Aboriginal people.
- 19:28They always talk to me. They can feel that energy, even
- 19:31though they may know, may not know what it is they are.
- 19:34What I'm getting is that they can sense that I've got a
- 19:37respect and a connection to the land and not many other people
- 19:40in this land have, because I had this particular experience and
- 19:44there's been many others since where I walk into the land.
- 19:48I went to an event up in Queensland which is, you know,
- 19:50from here it's about 900 kilometres and that'll be right
- 19:54about 6-7 hundred miles I think. Yeah, yeah, it's a good trek,
- 19:57Yeah. Yeah, it's a long way away.
- 20:00And because I asked for permission to enter that land
- 20:05before I went in, I made sure I did after that experience.
- 20:09Then I had a very special experience in that land and and
- 20:12then the Nordic gods were present.
- 20:15Thor was particularly present at that event.
- 20:17It was a met event that I attended for that someone else
- 20:20ran and a lot of the other men felt Thor's presence and the
- 20:24other God's presence when we were in that particular event on
- 20:28that land because of what I brought in and what I did.
- 20:32So that's just one example of how connecting with, you know,
- 20:36the local land spirits and, and the local people has helped me
- 20:39on on my journey because there's a lot of parallels between
- 20:45aboriginal traditional beliefs and Nordic beliefs.
- 20:48So that I've discovered just since I've tapped into my own
- 20:51heritage and they're compatible. They're not, you know, not of
- 20:56the same land, but there's, you'll find that there's a lot
- 20:59of beliefs and practices that are very similar.
- 21:02Yeah, yeah, it's the spirit of it, right?
- 21:04Yeah, so that's one example. That's beautiful, man.
- 21:09I'm, I had a very similar experience recently as well.
- 21:13I talked about it on last week's episode where I was hiking in a
- 21:18very populated area. I mean, where I live in the city
- 21:24is they got like a, you know what a Greenway system is?
- 21:26It's like public land, but you know, it's nature.
- 21:30You know, we, I live right near a river and the Greenway winds
- 21:35through the city. Some places are a bit more
- 21:38remote than others and other places code through like city
- 21:40parks. So anyway, I was on like a 10
- 21:44mile long stretch and I about halfway through that 10 miles, I
- 21:50was walking along of right outside of a nearby City Park
- 21:54and there was the remains of a deer's carcass on the side of
- 21:59the, of the Greenway path. And again, like it was, it was
- 22:02right out there in plain sight, but it was a, a male buck, you
- 22:05know, so he had his antlers on it still.
- 22:08The skull was mostly gone, but it was, you know, the skull cap
- 22:12was intact. And I, I saw this and I said,
- 22:17wow, you know what, what an amazing thing for me to find in
- 22:20such a populated area. Anybody else could have seen it,
- 22:23grabbed it, but they didn't. And you know, I, I, I, like I
- 22:29said out loud, thank you. And then I, I, I took the, the
- 22:32skull part with the antlers on it, but I didn't first leave a
- 22:36gift. I didn't give anything of a
- 22:38physical nature of a gift. I just said thank you and walked
- 22:41on. Now, it wasn't intentional to be
- 22:44mindless in this way. I was just on this.
- 22:47I was in, I was like focused on the walk more than anything.
- 22:50It was a very specific purpose driven walk.
- 22:53And by the end of it all, though, my feet were killing me.
- 22:56I come home, I've got blood blisters on my feet and I'm
- 23:00like, well, they got their, they got theirs.
- 23:04You know, the, the land took what was rightfully theirs from
- 23:08me because I didn't give to them first before taking the you know
- 23:12what I mean? So there's those things when
- 23:14you're connected in that way that when you were talking about
- 23:17the little butterfly that was, you know, to anybody else that
- 23:22is not connected into the land and, and, and in tune with these
- 23:25things would have ignored that, that sign, you know, or wouldn't
- 23:28have meant anything to them. But it's really neat to hear you
- 23:32say that, you know, you were present enough to listen and you
- 23:38know what I mean? And, and to take heed to those
- 23:40to those things. That's beautiful.
- 23:43Thank you for for sharing that. Yeah, no worries.
- 23:47So yeah, let's go into some of the, so we know a lot about your
- 23:51background now. We know that you're into the
- 23:54very animistic beliefs, but more into the mystical side of
- 24:01things. I was going over some of your
- 24:05emails that you had sent me and I'm on your, I think I'm on your
- 24:07e-mail list with some updates of, of things that you have
- 24:09coming up. You have somewhat of a social
- 24:12presence or social media presence at least, wherein you
- 24:15talk a lot about the runes. So let's talk a little bit about
- 24:22or let's go into, you know, what it's been like for you to
- 24:28discover the runes, work with the runes and how that kind of
- 24:35ties into your whole living experience as a, as a
- 24:40practicing, you know, I guess you could call yourself Norse
- 24:44Pagan. I don't know if you have the
- 24:45label or if you adopt the label or you don't.
- 24:48Some people do, some people don't.
- 24:49But yeah, let's, let's let's talk about that.
- 24:50Like how? What was that introduction like
- 24:53for you into the runes initially?
- 24:57Yeah, well, as I touched on in the introduction on my
- 25:00background, the runes were probably the first thing that
- 25:04made themselves known. And I'll tell you, I'll go a bit
- 25:07deeper into the background on how they appeared.
- 25:10So I used to see them as a child.
- 25:12I used to draw them, I'd draw them on my school book.
- 25:15So I'd carve them into the school desks, I'd write them on
- 25:18walls. They're probably all over
- 25:21country NSW where I grew up on, on walls and things, if they
- 25:24haven't been removed by now. But I just remember seeing them
- 25:29and drawing them and I didn't know, I had no idea what they
- 25:31were. I just thought, you know, they,
- 25:32a lot of them looked like the, the, the Latin alphabet now.
- 25:37And yeah, so I started seeing them as a child and then it
- 25:42wasn't until later in life that I decided to look into them, as
- 25:45I explained before. But yeah, it just seems that
- 25:51they've been the gateway to everything else that I've
- 25:54discovered or rediscovered about Norse paganism and myself as a
- 25:59person and as a practitioner in these ways and and promoter of
- 26:03these ways. I like talking about the ruins
- 26:05because they are a gateway into Norse paganism and deeper
- 26:10practice and many other things as well.
- 26:12So my journey into the ruins began with reading a book by a
- 26:18guy named Richard Lister and he's a practicing Norse Pagan.
- 26:22He's in the UK, but he's, he has ancestry from Scandinavia and he
- 26:28wrote this book called Ruins Made Easy.
- 26:31And it sounds like a bit of a gimmicky book, but it's actually
- 26:34quite, quite good and quite detailed in how you actually use
- 26:37the runes first for divination and guidance, but also using
- 26:41bind runes and, and other practices to begin your, your,
- 26:46your runic practice. And that's where I started
- 26:50really deeply working with the runes and, and looking at those
- 26:54as forms of magic basically, and divination and guidance.
- 27:00And then I started doing readings, free readings for
- 27:05friends and, and family who who wanted to do them because I knew
- 27:08that this was the path for me. I knew that I had to offer my
- 27:12services to mankind really through the ruins because I felt
- 27:16such an activation when I started to use them.
- 27:20And it wasn't until further along in my journey that I
- 27:24started finding out why these ruins became into my life and
- 27:30how. So one of one of the practices
- 27:33that I do, and it's not Norse paganism based.
- 27:35I, I draw it from a lot of different, different sources as
- 27:38well because as Odin says, which I've heard, knowledge knows no
- 27:42borders and is spoken in many tongues.
- 27:46So I still started this practice that I still use with people
- 27:49now. It's called the compassion key.
- 27:52And it was a practice that I learned from a guy who's in the
- 27:55States, his name's Edward Mannix.
- 27:57And what it involves is healing people by regressing them to the
- 28:02inner child and identifying traumas that were introduced in
- 28:06childhood and using particular language and practices and
- 28:12techniques to bring out that wound or that trauma or whatever
- 28:17it may be, and healing it in a certain way.
- 28:20So I started doing that for myself and for other people.
- 28:24And what I discovered was that when I started regressing myself
- 28:29to my inner child, I started unlocking all these memories and
- 28:32I started going back very, very far back into my childhood.
- 28:36I, I actually went back into my body as I was being born.
- 28:41I had quite a traumatic birth. I had some difficulties and some
- 28:44complications when I was born and I had to get taken from the
- 28:48hospital in Gunadar, NSW and flying to Sydney which is around
- 28:53A4450 kilometre trip. So they put me straight on a
- 28:57plane, took me to Sydney and I was there for 9 days by myself.
- 29:01Anyway I remember being born and remember being in pain and all
- 29:05of this kind of stuff and being afraid because I didn't know
- 29:07where I was and I was alone. Anyway, another incident where I
- 29:13took my, another experience where I took myself back to my
- 29:17inner child. I remember sitting with myself
- 29:18just working through some trauma that I'd experienced as a child.
- 29:22And I during this practice, you can you actually learn to stick
- 29:26with yourself as a, as an inner, as, as a child and speak to them
- 29:30and remove these wounds and traumas and so on.
- 29:34It's quite a deep and, and profound practice when you learn
- 29:37to do it well. And then what I discovered was I
- 29:43was talking to myself in a playground and I drew the rune
- 29:47Yi was, which represents the Yew Tree and energy on the ground in
- 29:51the in the sand on this playground.
- 29:54And my inner child said to myself, what's that?
- 29:57And I said, it's a rune. You can Start learning to use
- 30:00them now. And what I discovered, and this
- 30:03sounds pretty out there, that I'd actually introduced myself
- 30:06to the runes through that practice because you actually go
- 30:09back in time and are able to, through this process, are able
- 30:13to talk to yourself and change the past by removing these
- 30:16traumas and introducing new practices to that job.
- 30:20And Yiwaz is one of is probably the most powerful ruin to use to
- 30:24do that because it actually bridges through Igdrisil back
- 30:29through space. Because as you know, time is,
- 30:32like you mentioned earlier, time's an illusion anyway,
- 30:35right? And, and Yiwas is, and all the
- 30:38runes in general are 1/4 dimensional symbols that can
- 30:42bridge space and time. They're not limited by the 3D
- 30:46realm that we are. So I used Yiwas to bridge that
- 30:51gap between now and the time, as I was when I found myself as a
- 30:57child and introduced the runes to myself.
- 31:01So yeah, it sounds pretty out there, but that's what it was.
- 31:05And there's a lot of Hollywood movies that touch on this kind
- 31:08of theme. Like, I don't know if you've
- 31:09seen the movie Tenet. Oh.
- 31:11Yeah, forgot about. That yeah, the main guy, he's
- 31:15he, he's been guided by himself, by his future self through
- 31:19through this process and through the movie.
- 31:21So Hollywood, what it does is hides all these things under the
- 31:26guise of fiction, but they're actually abilities that you can
- 31:29learn and that's truth that you can learn and practice yourself.
- 31:33Yeah. So that's where I started with
- 31:36the rune practice. And ever since then or since I
- 31:39began using the runes, I go and travel around quite a bit in
- 31:42around NSW and other parts of the country and just do room
- 31:45readings and events for people. And I'm one of the only ones
- 31:49that does it. Every event I go to, there's,
- 31:51there's no one else there that does runes.
- 31:53I'm the only one. So a lot of people sort of come
- 31:56past and go, oh, runes, I know about them or some, some people
- 31:59have never heard of them. But what I feel that I'm doing
- 32:03is I'm reintroducing people, particularly of European
- 32:06heritage into these old ways, into the ways of our ancestors
- 32:11and powerfully awakening them through the ruins, but also
- 32:15providing a service to heal and to God and to empower them
- 32:20through the ruins. Because they've got multiple
- 32:21uses that I've discovered over the years that I've been using
- 32:25them. And there's, there's new
- 32:26abilities that I'm unlocking through the ruins every time I
- 32:30use them. They are the basis for the work
- 32:33that I do. And they've led to other things.
- 32:36And yeah, they're just the gateway for everything that I've
- 32:40done and the basis. And there's really nothing you
- 32:44can't do with them. And I'm very grateful that they
- 32:46came into my life when they did. Yeah, it was later in life.
- 32:50I looked back and I said, why didn't I start using them when I
- 32:52was a bit young? Things could have been a bit
- 32:54different now. But anyway, they've come time
- 32:57that I needed them. And yeah, I, I still travel
- 33:00around to quite a number of events around Australia and
- 33:05provide the services of room reading.
- 33:07And you know, it's led me to practice deeper into the old
- 33:11ways. You know, like you mentioned in
- 33:13the introduction, I'm also a goatee.
- 33:16I've worked with various people across the country and in the
- 33:19United States as well, in various clans to help, I
- 33:25suppose, promote the old ways, but also help people that are
- 33:28practising the old ways and help them in whatever way that I can
- 33:32to kneel and to guide them. So, yeah, does that give you a
- 33:36good basis of of? Yeah, man, what it does, it does
- 33:41it. You got it's, it's a lot, you
- 33:43know, it's a lot to to absorb. It's a lot to picture in my mind
- 33:47too, as, as, as a person kind of learning about you as an
- 33:51individual. And, and, and you know, you
- 33:53touched on a lot of things that that will hit home for a lot of
- 33:56my audience too. You know, that I'm a big
- 33:58advocate for doing the damn work, doing the inner work,
- 34:01doing that what, what a lot of people today will call a shadow
- 34:04work. And you know, the shadows not
- 34:07meant to be concealed, right? It's meant to be confronted.
- 34:12And that's not easy. It's not, it's not, it's not
- 34:15light work. It's not easy work.
- 34:18It, it, it, it challenges us. It puts us through that, you
- 34:22know, ordeal. But that's where worth is proven
- 34:26is, is in adversity, you know what I mean?
- 34:29And the, the, the process is, is difficult and it's challenging
- 34:34and it can really, you know, test us.
- 34:38But with the runes, you know, I've, I've also been a student
- 34:42of the runes for probably almost as long as I've been a heathen,
- 34:46which is a little over a decade now.
- 34:49And I, I, I've offered my services as well as a, as a vid
- 34:55key, all right, as a rune reader or as a, as a runer at events.
- 35:00And I've had really interesting experiences.
- 35:04And I wanted to, I wanted to kind of kind of touch on that,
- 35:07if it's OK with you, if you wouldn't mind, because I've had
- 35:11experiences with public readings, public, you know,
- 35:16putting myself in a public space and offering this form of, you
- 35:21know, to say divination or, or whatever.
- 35:24But I never go into it. And you know, this is just me
- 35:27personally. I never go into this as like,
- 35:30I'm here to show you the way to go or show you how to solve your
- 35:36problems. Like, no, I'm just what, what I
- 35:39see the runes As for me is a, it's a, they're tools that will
- 35:46give the possibilities or the, or the, or, you know, the, it's
- 35:52more possibilities, but it, but it's like a touch.
- 35:54It's, it's a connection to their ancestors.
- 35:57And, and we're, we're tying my ancestors into this whole thing.
- 35:59So it's becoming a very interwoven experience between me
- 36:04and the person for whom I'm reading runes or the people.
- 36:06Sometimes I'll have a, a couple or a pair of people that that
- 36:11want to, to share in that experience together.
- 36:14So it becomes a very dynamic, you know, interwoven thing.
- 36:19But I was going to. So the whole point of me
- 36:21bringing this up is have you, have you ever faced the feeling
- 36:26or faced a, an experience where like the person that's coming or
- 36:33the person that you're reading the rune for is, is looking for
- 36:35something that you don't want to reveal to them through the runes
- 36:40or you don't want to share with them through the runes?
- 36:41Like this is not going to be nice.
- 36:43We're not this. You're not going to like this
- 36:45kind of a thing. Yeah, yeah.
- 36:49Well, there's, there's quite a number of times that I've, yeah,
- 36:53come across things that have I've gone, I go, how am I going
- 36:56to break this to them? Yeah.
- 36:58Reason they're there is, is for me to guide them.
- 37:01So I don't, I don't withhold anything for them because
- 37:05they've come to me and they've paid for a reading.
- 37:08It's my duty to give whatever the ruins reveal and not hold
- 37:13anything. Yeah, you know I will.
- 37:15I will channel it and and communicate it in a way where,
- 37:20you know, I don't brutally deliver bad news.
- 37:23Yeah. You don't want to wreck them.
- 37:24Yeah, yeah. But, and no matter what you say,
- 37:27sometimes, particularly a rune named Huggalas, when that comes
- 37:30up, even when I draw it for myself, I'm like, shit, what's
- 37:33coming now? Yeah, this is not gentle.
- 37:37Yeah, yeah, the storm and the hail.
- 37:40But yeah, as I said, it's my duty to deliver the news no
- 37:44matter what it is, because ultimately it's there to help
- 37:47them. It's not there to hinder them.
- 37:50And any negativity, any, any challenge is, is is an
- 37:54evolutionary catalyst for people.
- 37:57And that's the way I view things.
- 37:59You know, I've been through a lot of challenges myself.
- 38:02And life is not without challenge.
- 38:04Life is not without sacrifice. It doesn't have to be all that
- 38:08way, but when speaking personally, when I've gone
- 38:13through hardship and challenges, there's always been an upside.
- 38:16It's made me stronger. It's made me more more
- 38:19resilient, and it helps me prepare me for whatever's coming
- 38:23next. It's constant, you know, moving
- 38:26up the ladder of experience and and wisdom and knowledge and
- 38:29strength and so on. So all of those positive things.
- 38:32So, yeah, whenever a bad reading happened, so I said, well,
- 38:37something that's negative, I'll tell them.
- 38:39But I'll always say, look, I'm here to support you.
- 38:43If you need support through this change that's coming or through
- 38:46this difficulty, then, you know, I, I, I keep in contact with
- 38:49them if that's what they wish. Yeah, Yeah, I did did an event a
- 38:53couple of weeks ago where Huggalos came up quite regularly
- 38:57and probably, it probably came up in about four or five of the
- 39:01readings I did that day. So it was it was present.
- 39:05And I just told people, I say, OK, well, this room means that
- 39:08there's a storm either coming, it's here or it's coming in the
- 39:11future. And depending on where the room
- 39:15itself falls in the in the drawer, it's either in the past
- 39:18in the OR the present challenge or it's coming in the future.
- 39:21But I'll always look at the bright side of it, particularly
- 39:24with huggle ass, if that comes up in a reading.
- 39:27Yeah, it means that there's storm and devastation coming.
- 39:30But what it also means that there's there's strength and
- 39:36wisdom coming from that challenge and it's sweeping away
- 39:39what is no no longer serves. And always use this analogy when
- 39:43I'm reading for people and how the loss comes up.
- 39:47I look at it as OK. Say for instance, you've just
- 39:51experienced your house burning to the ground.
- 39:55That's a devastation that that's a very hard thing for anyone to
- 39:58manage. You lose all your belongings and
- 40:00your actual home where you live. But look at it this way, the
- 40:04house could have been full of asbestos or could have had
- 40:09repairs that you didn't have the money to make, or your family
- 40:13could have outgrown that that current building.
- 40:16What this gives you the opportunity to do now that it's
- 40:18been removed is to rebuild something bigger and better and
- 40:23to learn from that experience. So that's the analogy that I'll
- 40:26use if that ruin in particular will come up in a reading.
- 40:30And it, it applies across every area of your life, really.
- 40:34A lot of people, sometimes when I'll be somewhere where I read
- 40:38and people will walk past and I'll offer them a reading, a lot
- 40:42of them say, oh, I don't want to know.
- 40:44I don't know what, I don't want to know what's coming.
- 40:46And there's that fear that people have of learning the
- 40:49truth, not just about what may be coming, but about themselves.
- 40:53And that's the common theme that I've noticed with with pretty
- 40:56much everything, with 90% of humanity, people are living in
- 40:59fear of who they are because they're conditioned to believe a
- 41:04certain, I suppose religion or whatever is promoting.
- 41:11So yeah, you does that answer your question?
- 41:14Yeah, for sure. And I think what you'd like to
- 41:16that point too, I would add that I think people fear is, is
- 41:19definitely a hard condition to, to, to be freed from 'cause it
- 41:26does it, it, it, it imprisons us, you know, but complacency,
- 41:32comfortability, you know, to be comfortable to, to, to know
- 41:35things. It, it, it, you know, once, you
- 41:39know, now, now, now the real hard work comes.
- 41:42Now you got to do something with what you know, right.
- 41:46And people don't rather, they'd be, they'd rather be oblivious.
- 41:48They'd rather not know. They'd rather stay comfortable.
- 41:51Because if they know something, if they revealed something,
- 41:53well, then now I got to do something about it.
- 41:56Oh no, I'd rather just stay in my comfort zone.
- 42:01And that's not where growth happens.
- 42:02Growth doesn't happen in the comfort zone.
- 42:06You know, you talked earlier about, you know, plant medicine
- 42:08and I'm, I'm no stranger to, to consulting those, those teachers
- 42:16in that way. Not ayahuasca specifically, but
- 42:19you know, psilocybin and, and other substances that have been
- 42:23here for longer than humanity has been here.
- 42:26You know, where we came from and, and what we are a part of
- 42:28that are here for the teaching. They are there to teach us and
- 42:33they and those teachings and that growth that comes from
- 42:35those teachings is, is brutal, but it it brings us to the state
- 42:39of where we can better serve or be in service, right?
- 42:43Absolutely, yeah. And trials, like I said, are
- 42:47part of the North's way of life. Yeah.
- 42:51That's what made our ancestors strong.
- 42:53And look at the influence and the impact that they've left on
- 42:55the world. Now, you know, we're practicing
- 42:58their ways centuries later when the Christians tried to blot us
- 43:04out of existence, you know, and for us to be reviving these ways
- 43:09of our ancestors and for them to still be present is testament to
- 43:14the strength of the of the old ways.
- 43:16And and you touched on the impact that the Viking series
- 43:19has had. Yeah, I also watched that as
- 43:21well. My father introduced me to that.
- 43:22I didn't know anything about it. He'd been watching it.
- 43:25He said you've got to watch this show.
- 43:27And that again, that was one of the one of the other activations
- 43:30that I didn't mention before. And it it was a very good series
- 43:35to while it didn't go very, very deep into runes or any or, or
- 43:41too deep into the old ways, it just showed their way of life
- 43:45and their resilience and their commitment to their gods and to
- 43:47their kin to better their own lives.
- 43:49And it's when I think about the show Vikings and what the
- 43:54Vikings did back in the days connected to a room called
- 43:57Nowthes, which is need and tenacity.
- 44:00And it represents how they went out of their comfort zone to
- 44:05create a better life for themselves and their kin.
- 44:08Living in those times in, in in Scandinavia where it's frozen
- 44:12for half the year. Yeah, it was.
- 44:14Survival wasn't guaranteed. What they had to do was, was
- 44:18build boats and go out into the great unknown and try and find
- 44:22lands that were more suitable for what they wanted to create
- 44:25for themselves and their families and their kid.
- 44:27And that's exactly what they did.
- 44:28Yeah, they did some raiding and pillaging and so on.
- 44:31But they weren't the only ones. Look at what the Christians did,
- 44:34what the Romans did. What, what every major religion
- 44:38has done over centuries. So that's just the way the world
- 44:41back was back then. But yeah, yeah.
- 44:44Being able to practice those old ways now again just shows how
- 44:47strong and powerful they are. For sure, man, now this is all
- 44:52great, you know, and I, I could honestly, the ruins are, are are
- 44:57close to my heart. I, I found myself being brought
- 45:01into ruinology, the study of the ruins by very, very impactful
- 45:08moment in my life. And it wasn't, it wasn't a, it
- 45:11wasn't like a gentle, oh, maybe I'll read a book or maybe I'll
- 45:14check it out. It was literally like waking up
- 45:16from the middle of the night in my sleep by a loud noise that
- 45:20said, you're doing this so I could literally go on forever
- 45:24about the runes. But I do want to take time to
- 45:27focus on more of your project or your story because you have,
- 45:33again, you have a social media presence.
- 45:35We'll make sure to plug that in the show notes in the
- 45:37description for the viewers and the listeners, right?
- 45:39So check them all, check all that stuff out.
- 45:42But you do have something that you've been kind of alluding to
- 45:47as a, as a work that has taken nine months exactly to, to kind
- 45:53of compile or to put together. I'm talking about, of course, a
- 45:57book that you're releasing or self-publishing called Odin's
- 46:01Tutelage, right? Correct.
- 46:03Yes. So I'm very excited about this.
- 46:05It's been a, you know, a very special and intimate project
- 46:10working directly with Odin himself.
- 46:13And I've already described how it connected to the runes and
- 46:17then the gods and so on. But yeah, Odin came to me.
- 46:23I couldn't give a time when it was, but he sort of made himself
- 46:26known subtly at 1st and then he sort of entered fully into my
- 46:31life not long after I took up the runes.
- 46:35And I'm, I will describe this in the book, but it's a little bit
- 46:41hazy. But I remember at one, one time
- 46:43I did a meditation. I, I meditate pretty much every
- 46:46morning. And he came to me and said, I've
- 46:49got something that I want to share with you, but you need to
- 46:53to agree to it, to take it up. And I went, OK, well, put me
- 46:58under your tutelage. I just said that.
- 47:00And he took me under his tutelage and decided to speak
- 47:07messages to me on a regular basis pretty much every day.
- 47:10I'd have a day off every now and then because it was very
- 47:12difficult to channel an energy like that on a daily basis for
- 47:15nine months. Yeah.
- 47:19And he said what, what you need to do is just write everything
- 47:22down that I tell you verbatim. Don't change anything, just do
- 47:26that. So and OK.
- 47:27And what I would do every day at midday, I would make time, it
- 47:33only took probably about 15 minutes.
- 47:35I would make time to connect directly with him.
- 47:39And I would just go into a a short meditation and go into, I
- 47:43suppose what you could describe as a trance.
- 47:46And he would just speak, and I would literally write in my
- 47:49diary in in handwriting everything that he spoke.
- 47:53And he would talk about a specific topic.
- 47:56So he would just speak one word like honor.
- 48:01And then he would talk about honor and what it means as a
- 48:04Norse Pagan, but what it means to the modern world.
- 48:08And they were short messages, but they were powerful and
- 48:11direct. And I just wrote them down.
- 48:15He didn't tell me what what it was for.
- 48:17I had no idea what was going to happen from it.
- 48:20And then I wrote them all down and I ended up with, I think
- 48:24around nearly 300 messages from him, over 200.
- 48:29I haven't counted them all, but it was over a period of nine
- 48:32months exactly where I just wrote these down.
- 48:36No, not, not quite every day, but I think I had one or two
- 48:39days off every now and then just because it was, it was
- 48:43exhausting doing that every day. And I got to a point where I
- 48:48just had to stop and I wasn't aware of the time frame that I'd
- 48:53been doing it exactly. And then I went to go back to it
- 48:57and he said, no, you're done. That's enough.
- 49:00I went, oh, OK. And then I sort of left it for a
- 49:02while, had other things that I was doing.
- 49:05And then I decided to go back to it and look through all the
- 49:07messages. And I realized I had, you know,
- 49:10over 200, nearly 300 messages from him directly.
- 49:14And there was a lot of really good stuff in there.
- 49:16And I didn't remember most of it because it was just sort of came
- 49:19to me and I'd just write it down word to word.
- 49:23And then it just came to me. OK, well, I've got to put these
- 49:26in the book and put the put it out to the world.
- 49:29And I told a friend who's also a Norse Pagan, the practicing
- 49:33Norse Pagan about it recently. And he and he's like, oh, that
- 49:37sounds sort of like the modern day hover male.
- 49:40Like, oh, actually that's a pretty good way to describe it.
- 49:44It's not a continuation of the Hava Mile.
- 49:46It's probably it's in the spirit of the Hava Mile, but it's more
- 49:50like being able to navigate the modern world while maintaining
- 49:55the North Heathen aspect and the way of living and the honor and
- 49:59the integrity and the sacrifice and all of those things that we
- 50:02hold true to our beliefs and applying them in the modern
- 50:06context and still being able to hold true to yourself in those
- 50:09old ways. And that's what that's what the
- 50:12message of, of, of this book is going to give it.
- 50:15It's going to be a guide for people, not just heathens, for
- 50:19anyone really to pick up. It's not exclusively A heathen
- 50:22book. Right.
- 50:24Anyone can pick up the Bible and then find some, some sort of
- 50:29advice in there that may, that may resonate for them.
- 50:32There's a lot of good stuff in the Bible, I'll admit that.
- 50:34You know, I grew up a Christian as well and there's a lot of
- 50:38stuff that's not not good in there as well.
- 50:41But there's some things that you can you can take from that, from
- 50:45the Bible, from other texts, whatever that apply to your life
- 50:48that you can use and maybe and funnel and channel through a
- 50:52lens of Norse paganism or whatever, whatever it is you're
- 50:55practicing. So that's the book project.
- 50:59Like I said, I'm self-publishing, so I'm
- 51:03designing though the whole thing myself and putting all of the
- 51:07words on the pages. I'm having difficulty reading my
- 51:10own handwriting. So translating what I wrote at
- 51:14the time is, is a bit challenging, but, but I actually
- 51:17used AI to, I took photos of all the pages that I did and I ran
- 51:23it to an AI and an AI actually picked up around probably 90% of
- 51:28what I wrote. It's just those things that
- 51:30it's, it hasn't, wasn't entirely accurate to what I'm doing now
- 51:33is just going to, I'm making sure that it's being reproduced
- 51:35word for word because I hadn't told me.
- 51:38You can't change anything. You've got to have it exactly as
- 51:42I've presented it. So nothing will be changed.
- 51:45Nothing will be, I suppose, edited for readership purposes.
- 51:50It's going to be presented exactly the way it was presented
- 51:54to me in book form. And anyone can pick this up,
- 51:57like I said, and just open any page.
- 51:59If they've got a particular challenge that they're facing
- 52:02and they need guidance, they need outside guidance or just if
- 52:06they've got a connection with Odin or they don't, doesn't
- 52:08matter. And they can open the book to
- 52:10any page and they'll find the guidance that they need for that
- 52:13particular challenge or topic or day or whatever it is that
- 52:17they're facing. And that's the aim of the book.
- 52:21And like I said, I'm really excited to put it out.
- 52:24I'm it can't come out quick enough for me.
- 52:27And when it does, I'm really, really excited to see the impact
- 52:30that it has and the help it provides to people.
- 52:32Because even reading back through the messages myself, I'm
- 52:36looking at them going, wow, I don't remember writing that at
- 52:38all. Yeah, yeah.
- 52:39And. Yeah, it's really powerful stuff
- 52:43and I really hope that a lot of people get get the help to it
- 52:48intends and the guidance that that is the intention of the
- 52:52book. And yeah, I really can't wait to
- 52:55get it out. So anyone that's interested in
- 53:00purchasing the book when it comes out, just keep an eye on
- 53:02my social media and my website. I'll be, I've already made the
- 53:06announcement that it's coming out just before Christmas and
- 53:10yeah, I've just got to get my ass into gear, I suppose, and
- 53:12get it done because self-publishing, Yeah.
- 53:15I didn't realise how challenging it would be, but I just want to
- 53:18make, want to get it right. I don't want to rush it.
- 53:20Yeah, because it's got to be right and it's got to be
- 53:23presented in the right way. And, and I've got, you know, a
- 53:26lot of experience in, in communications and writing from
- 53:29my previous work. Right.
- 53:32Side of North paganism. So I want to make sure that it's
- 53:36presented right, that it's it's just, yeah, it has to be exactly
- 53:39right before I get it out. Oh yeah, for sure, man.
- 53:42I mean, that's a long time, you know, nine months over over
- 53:46that, that duration and, and you describing how this this came to
- 53:50you and, and sharing it with the world in this way.
- 53:53You know, that's I wouldn't want to rush it either.
- 53:56You know, now with now there's I got a few questions for you,
- 54:00though, like with pertaining to Odin, because he's obviously
- 54:07probably the most widely spoken about, widely known, most
- 54:12attested to in the lore, you know, of the gods of, of the
- 54:16Norse pantheon widely, you know, he's not considered to be a very
- 54:23quote UN quote safe God. A lot of people, myself
- 54:27included, who, who would, who would venture to say, you know,
- 54:30like anytime you engage with him, it's going to cost you
- 54:37because with him and his, what he's gained, it's always cost
- 54:41him, you know, an eye at Mimir as well, hanging on Igdrasil for
- 54:45nine days a night. So if I could maybe open that
- 54:50door a little bit towards you and say, you know, what has the
- 54:53tutelage from Odin cost you anything personally,
- 54:56spiritually, socially, What has that?
- 54:59If you're willing to to speak a little bit about or on that, I'm
- 55:04I'm interested. Yeah.
- 55:06I wouldn't say that there's been a particular cost that I've had
- 55:09to sacrifice anything other than my time and energy to get that
- 55:12done in particular. But I've got many other
- 55:15instances that I can describe to you where there has been a cost
- 55:19extracted for any work that I've done with him directly.
- 55:22Yeah, of course, there's been many times where he's come to me
- 55:27with things in particular and it's been difficult.
- 55:32It hasn't been easy and a lot of people in this modern world, as
- 55:37you would know and many of many of your listeners would know,
- 55:40have that mindset, that Christian mindset or that Jewish
- 55:44or the OR the Islamic mindset where you have to basically
- 55:49surrender yourself and pray for, save for being, pray to be saved
- 55:55by an outside source. Odin doesn't do any of that, not
- 55:59at all. And I can remember a particular
- 56:02instance where I was going through some hardship
- 56:04personally, and I was on my knees basically begging for help
- 56:11because I was so distraught. I can't remember exactly what it
- 56:14was, but I remember his response.
- 56:16He just said to me, get up, get off your knees, get on your feet
- 56:22and keep moving. And it was very brutal.
- 56:25And I was very surprised and I was very shocked at the response
- 56:28because I'd been conditioned as a Christian growing up to rely
- 56:33on an outside figure to save me. And when I was, I had a brutal,
- 56:39rude awakening when I started working with with the Nordic
- 56:43gods, particularly Oded. When I tried to, when I lapsed
- 56:46into that mindset, he said, no, get up, do it yourself.
- 56:51You've got the strength to carry on.
- 56:53I'm not helping you. And he walked away and I was
- 56:55left on my knees. You're not a shock that it
- 56:59happened. Do you know what I did?
- 57:02I got up and I moved and I did whatever it is or whatever it
- 57:06was myself. Didn't get any help from him
- 57:11because I didn't need it. And that's what the Nordic gods
- 57:14teach, that you have the strength to do things.
- 57:16You don't rely on on the gods to do things for you.
- 57:20Yes, they walk with you, they help you, they motivate you,
- 57:23they inspire you. But they're not going to do the
- 57:25work for you. Yeah, particularly if you've got
- 57:29the capability to do it yourself.
- 57:31So that's, that's probably characterizes my experience with
- 57:35Odin. And ever since then I've
- 57:37realized that it's, it's not a, not a relationship where I can
- 57:41rely on him to get things done and just, I suppose, you know,
- 57:46push off responsibility to, to, to him and the other gods to get
- 57:50things done for my own life. I've had to, to walk through,
- 57:55you know, fire basically through Helheim to get things done.
- 57:59Yes, they've been with me. Yes, they've inspired me.
- 58:01They've filled me with knowledge and inspiration and, and helped
- 58:05me find the strength that I had within myself already and given
- 58:09me the knowledge to find that strength to move through
- 58:13whatever difficulty I've experienced.
- 58:16And now I'm at a level now where I suppose that, yeah, I still
- 58:21have challenges, but I know how to get around them.
- 58:23Yeah, it's still going to be painful, but it's not going to
- 58:26be as nearly as painful as it was in the past because I'm a
- 58:29lot stronger from what I've experienced.
- 58:32Yeah, you got that conditioning right, like.
- 58:36Yeah, and it's, I suppose there may be a cost coming from for
- 58:41Odin's tutelage. I don't know.
- 58:42He's not really said anything. So I'm thinking about it now.
- 58:45But like I said, after the nine months, I was just completely
- 58:48exhausted and I, I had to just walk away from it for a while
- 58:51because I was just that utterly spent from what I'd, what I'd
- 58:56channeled and what I'd experienced.
- 58:57So I suppose that was probably the cost, now that I think back
- 59:01on it, of being able to produce that work.
- 59:05And it took a lot of strength and a lot of dedication, you
- 59:08know, doing that over nine months straight without rest,
- 59:13that would, well, it did exhaust me.
- 59:16But I, I can't really say I know anyone else would do something
- 59:20like that. I've not heard of anyone else
- 59:22doing this kind of thing with Odin directly, no.
- 59:24Yeah. I mean, it's and that's what
- 59:26that's what really kind of interested me in wanting to
- 59:29speak with you more because that's, that's a very, I mean,
- 59:32the numbers mean something. Obviously, you know, we don't,
- 59:35we don't have this level of detail documented in the sources
- 59:39that we do have by happenstance, at least I don't think so.
- 59:43I think the numbers mean something, you know, so 9 days,
- 59:46nine nights, you know, 8 legs on the horse, you know, the three
- 59:50nor near like all these things like that have number values
- 59:53assigned to them. Are, are, are, are significant
- 59:57in my opinion. You know, they, they could have
- 1:00:00said anything a bit more, you know, ambiguous.
- 1:00:04They, they, they didn't have to be as specific as they were.
- 1:00:07So for yeah, for you to share like you know it was.
- 1:00:10You know, not just about nine months, but you, you, you
- 1:00:13calculated it. It was it was nine months to the
- 1:00:15day, right? Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:00:18Be compiled. And so yeah, it's, it's, it's
- 1:00:21really interesting to hear what this is, what this is going to,
- 1:00:26you know, result in for people. Obviously you've already got all
- 1:00:30this stuff written down. You're just getting it, having
- 1:00:32to get it published. So you know more than we do at
- 1:00:34this point, but it's going to be really interesting to see the
- 1:00:38final, the final piece of the puzzle as it were, when once it
- 1:00:41all gets layered in there. Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
- 1:00:46And people who who are on Facebook can read some of the
- 1:00:49messages that I've put on there. I created a group called the
- 1:00:53Wolves of Odin and it's an invite only group, so it's a
- 1:00:57private group. And I did share some of the
- 1:00:59messages in there that I got from Odin for Odin's tutelage
- 1:01:03before I actually started putting them into the book.
- 1:01:06And this wasn't long after I actually completed the messages.
- 1:01:11And yeah, you're right about the number.
- 1:01:12When I did go back and look at the time that I started, because
- 1:01:17I kept the dates in the Diaries, I started On this date.
- 1:01:21And my last message from him, which I didn't know at the time
- 1:01:24would be the last message, was nine months to the day from when
- 1:01:28I started to the day exactly. And that was not by intention at
- 1:01:33all, because, like I said, I didn't realize until I went back
- 1:01:36and calculated the time that it was the nine months exactly.
- 1:01:39Yeah, yeah. How would you have known?
- 1:01:42Yeah, I didn't. I didn't.
- 1:01:43And I was shocked. I was really shocked and, and,
- 1:01:46and that gave me a good sense of how special it was and how it
- 1:01:53was by design, by Odin's design, but also the design of my higher
- 1:01:57self I suppose. And and a fate of the weird.
- 1:02:01The weird aligned and the non's aligned for me to do that
- 1:02:04unconsciously with Odin for exactly 9 months.
- 1:02:08And the non number and #3 and #6 have popped up in other
- 1:02:13synchronicities in my life as well.
- 1:02:16In between and and before and after this process.
- 1:02:20There's another process that Odin taught me himself called
- 1:02:24the Odinic Forge. And I was inspired to do this on
- 1:02:27myself, where you highlight something in your life that you
- 1:02:33want to shift and achieve a higher version of that.
- 1:02:37And it aligns exactly with Odin's sacrifice on the World
- 1:02:40Tree on Igdasil for 9 days and 9 nights.
- 1:02:43And this process that he taught me goes over 9 days and nine
- 1:02:46nights where you're not literally hanging from a tree
- 1:02:49upside down with a spear in your gut that would be a bit
- 1:02:51difficult to endure for 9 days and 9 nights.
- 1:02:55Probably illegal too, but. Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 1:02:59Anyway. And what he taught me was to,
- 1:03:04yes, highlight something that I wanted to shift in my life.
- 1:03:08And it aligns with what he did. He sacrificed the lower part of
- 1:03:11himself to a higher part of himself to achieve knowledge of
- 1:03:15the ruins from the nons. So what I did was I was could
- 1:03:22say, for instance, it could be lust being controlled by lust.
- 1:03:26I wanted to be led by love instead of lust.
- 1:03:28So I chose that, that theme in particular.
- 1:03:31And over the nine days, he took me through various trials and
- 1:03:36tasks and I didn't know what was coming to achieve that end.
- 1:03:40And at the end of the nine days, I achieved that goal.
- 1:03:44I became heart LED instead of LED by, you know, as most, most
- 1:03:47men are in this world, led by their their loins and their
- 1:03:50lower nether regions. And ever since then, I've had a
- 1:03:55new outlook on, on life and being led by the heart and love
- 1:03:58rather than anything else. And it was an extremely
- 1:04:05difficult process. The nine days, the things that
- 1:04:09he threw at me by, by about day three, I was like, this is too
- 1:04:13hard, I want to quit. And he just said no, keep going,
- 1:04:17keep going. It's only just begun.
- 1:04:24Yeah. And it was, it was really hard.
- 1:04:26It was really hard, but I knew it was going to be.
- 1:04:29And everything that that I went through, I see was, was
- 1:04:34necessary to achieve the Enlightenment and the goal that
- 1:04:37I did achieve. And he taught me a particular
- 1:04:39process that I share with people now that with people that I work
- 1:04:43with my clients. And I'm going to, I might even
- 1:04:46include it in Odin's tutelage as a, as an extra thing because he
- 1:04:49said this is for you to share with, with anyone.
- 1:04:52And it was through, through the ruin Yiwas and the tree Ingresol
- 1:04:55where you visualize the rune on your body.
- 1:04:59So if if everyone knows the Yiwas rune, it's sort of it's
- 1:05:02got a middle stem and then two little arms on either side, top
- 1:05:06and bottom. And I visualize that rune I'm
- 1:05:11overlaid on my body and I visualize something that I'm
- 1:05:15trying to shift. So for instance, it could be
- 1:05:17fear and I visualize that fear being fed in through the lower
- 1:05:21arm of Yiwaz. And then I breathe in and I feel
- 1:05:25that fear transmuting and rising up the spine.
- 1:05:28And when it reaches the crown, it's spat out as confidence or
- 1:05:33the opposite of fear, which is, or the opposite of fear really
- 1:05:36is love. Right.
- 1:05:38Yeah, and that's a price I've used on myself and shared with
- 1:05:43my clients as well to help them shift negative feelings.
- 1:05:48And it was a very powerful lesson and a very powerful
- 1:05:52outcome from that particular process that I didn't even know
- 1:05:55was coming. He said, here's a bonus you can
- 1:05:57use whenever you want and and share it with other people.
- 1:05:59So I'm sharing that now with you and the listeners of this
- 1:06:03podcast that you can use that particular process because that
- 1:06:07was from Odin. That's not mine.
- 1:06:09I don't own that at all. Yeah.
- 1:06:12And. Visualizing of things really
- 1:06:14helps, I think for a lot of people, you know, 'cause you get
- 1:06:16into these, these various, whether it's tantric or, or any
- 1:06:20other kind of, you know, yoga or, or whatever, you know,
- 1:06:25movement and shapes and, and the, the, the visualization of
- 1:06:29things really helps. I think for people to, to work
- 1:06:34through the things that they're having to work through.
- 1:06:37It has for me to, you know, the 'cause, you know, trying to
- 1:06:42assign something that is such a daunting thing for us, right?
- 1:06:47We, we, we play such a high weight a lot of times on the
- 1:06:52things that we want to correct with ourselves, right?
- 1:06:53Ah, this is such a big deal because I've been dealing with
- 1:06:55it for how many years or for how long, right?
- 1:06:58Ah, it's such a big, like this, this huge mountain, you know,
- 1:07:02OK, well, forget about trying to get over the mountain.
- 1:07:05Try walking a few steps first, just just get, just move
- 1:07:08forward, right? Just, and then eventually, you
- 1:07:11know, you, you cover more ground that way.
- 1:07:13You're not, you're not looking at this gigantic thing in front
- 1:07:15of you. You're picturing it as a as a
- 1:07:17slow trajectory. But yeah, I think that
- 1:07:21visualization can really help too, where we're, you know,
- 1:07:25consciously aware of that design of that shape of that situation,
- 1:07:31right? And manifested in that way.
- 1:07:33That's, that's really wild, man. Thank you.
- 1:07:36You're welcome. And yeah, I do share that
- 1:07:38process with, with clients, of course it's a paid process.
- 1:07:43If anyone's interested in in learning that process, I guide
- 1:07:47men. I've I've done it with men, but
- 1:07:49it's available to women as well through this identic forward,
- 1:07:52forward process. And the men that I've guided
- 1:07:55through it so far have had significant changes in their
- 1:07:58lives. They've highlighted something in
- 1:08:02their life that's negative, that's controlling them, and
- 1:08:05they've identified, you know, the polar positive opposite of
- 1:08:09what that is. And that's what the Odinic forge
- 1:08:12does. You go through that nine day
- 1:08:14process in the spirit of what Odin did on the tree, and you're
- 1:08:18guided directly by Odin as well. Yeah, I'm there as an assistant,
- 1:08:22but I provide the instructions and the connection is
- 1:08:25established with Odin himself. And Odin actually steps in and
- 1:08:28guides men through it, so it's very, very powerful.
- 1:08:32Wow, sounds like it man. Do you think that people have a
- 1:08:40like misunderstanding or or maybe the better question is
- 1:08:44like do you think or what do you think that people misunderstand
- 1:08:47most about Odin? From your own experiences, what
- 1:08:50do you think people what what people misunderstand most about
- 1:08:54him? Especially for people who might
- 1:08:57be drawn to him because of this idea of like power and mystique.
- 1:09:04And he's a, you know, he's the, he's the, you know, he has so
- 1:09:07many things. He's, he's multifaceted.
- 1:09:08He's not just a God of the runes, You know, he's a God of
- 1:09:11the gallows. He's, he's the God of poets.
- 1:09:13He's the God of so many things that he gets attested to.
- 1:09:17What do you think people tend to misunderstand most about Odin?
- 1:09:22Well, yeah, like I touched on before, a lot of people that
- 1:09:26come to or return to Norse paganism, I suppose, will look
- 1:09:31at him through the lens of what they've practiced previously,
- 1:09:34like the traditional Abrahamic religions where he's a saviour
- 1:09:37figure when he's not that at all.
- 1:09:39He's a guide and he's an inspiration, but he's not
- 1:09:43someone that's going to pick you up off the ground and dust you
- 1:09:45off and go like, there you go, son.
- 1:09:47You know, this is, this is this is what you do.
- 1:09:52No, he inspires you to be the best version of yourself.
- 1:09:54So there's that example. There's also people that see him
- 1:09:58through the lens of what Hollywood has painted of Odin.
- 1:10:02Of course, the Marvel movies, and you know, they didn't do a
- 1:10:06bad job, but it just wasn't very deep or, or I suppose didn't go
- 1:10:10deep enough, enough into what Odin represents.
- 1:10:13But yeah, yeah, a lot of people will see what Vikings portrayed
- 1:10:19as, you know, Odin was, was present in that show.
- 1:10:24He just wasn't explained deep enough, I suppose, for people to
- 1:10:27get a good sense of who he is. And that doesn't matter.
- 1:10:31It inspired me to look further and inspired a lot of others as
- 1:10:35well. So I think that's what most
- 1:10:37people misunderstand who don't have a knowledge or or a real
- 1:10:41understanding of Norse paganism. They'll see him as the chief
- 1:10:46God, as someone that will provide that, you know, saviour
- 1:10:49like figure, saviour like energy, when he's none, none of
- 1:10:51that at all. But yeah, I think when people
- 1:10:54look deeper into what he actually represents, then they
- 1:10:58start to get a sense of who he is and A and a real appreciation
- 1:11:01like I did myself. My journey is with Odin as being
- 1:11:05one of the hardest things I've ever experienced, but also being
- 1:11:10one of the most positive because of where I am now and what I've
- 1:11:13learned and and without him, I wouldn't have that knowledge.
- 1:11:18And he's the God of wisdom and knowledge, so he helps provide
- 1:11:20that knowledge to people that work with him.
- 1:11:22Right. Well, there's also a part of
- 1:11:25Odin that I think people tend to avoid.
- 1:11:29And I was going to throw this out here for you in case it, you
- 1:11:32know, because we've talked so much about things that pertain
- 1:11:35to Odin in a positive way because of how much he's been a,
- 1:11:39been a, you know, in, in your UPG and in, in what you're doing
- 1:11:43your work, How it, how much of a positive influence he's been
- 1:11:46right now this question is going to lean towards the maybe
- 1:11:52unsavory side of, of, of things. So what I wanted to ask you is
- 1:11:56how do you, how have you been able to avoid this like ego
- 1:12:00inflation when working with Odin?
- 1:12:02Because Odin also has characteristics of rewarding
- 1:12:06confidence and cunning and more diabolical or maniacal type
- 1:12:13behaviors. He's, he's a mad, you know,
- 1:12:15he's, he's the mad one. He's got that name tied to him
- 1:12:18as well. So like, how has that, how is
- 1:12:21that the, the, the, the complexity of Odin working with
- 1:12:24him? How has that been for you to
- 1:12:27avoid that ego inflation with working with such a powerful
- 1:12:30figure? Well, I haven't been immune to
- 1:12:33the ego inflation at all. I've, I've had the ego inflation
- 1:12:37not just from working with Odin, but various other things that
- 1:12:39I've discovered through the spirituality journey really.
- 1:12:42So I went through that process where I was egotistical.
- 1:12:47I saw myself as, as above others who didn't have the connection
- 1:12:50with spirit spirits or the spirit world that I did.
- 1:12:53And this was before I got into Norse paganism, but I've even
- 1:12:57had that experience working with Odin as well.
- 1:12:59And, and what I've experienced, I suppose his various trials
- 1:13:04have been sent my way either by him or other forces to bring me
- 1:13:08back down from that ego and see things as they really are.
- 1:13:12And Odin has a close connection with with Loki, as many people
- 1:13:16would realize listening to this, they're Blood Brothers.
- 1:13:20So I think that they have an influence on each other,
- 1:13:23definitely. And Loki's presented himself in
- 1:13:25my life very, very strongly in many ways that I haven't
- 1:13:28mentioned at all yet. But I, I, I wouldn't say that
- 1:13:32I've escaped any negative aspects.
- 1:13:35I've just been able to channel those negative aspects into a
- 1:13:38positive. You've mentioned shadow and
- 1:13:41working with the shadow and facing the shadow.
- 1:13:43I've done a lot of that, not just through working with Odin,
- 1:13:46but with just the deeper aspects of myself.
- 1:13:49And Odin, you know, he's a God of War, He's a God of the slain.
- 1:13:52He's a God of many things, as you've mentioned.
- 1:13:56And Norse paganism, it's, it's, it's not a soft way of living.
- 1:14:01It's not a soft way of approaching the world.
- 1:14:03It's not like, you know, turn the other cheek.
- 1:14:06The Christians will, will tell you if, if you have an enemy
- 1:14:11that's trying to destroy you, Odin can show you the ways to
- 1:14:16destroy them before they destroy you or to defend yourself.
- 1:14:20There's there's no there's, there's.
- 1:14:22The way of working with shadow is to embrace your dark side,
- 1:14:26not use it to harm others for no reason.
- 1:14:29But if you're being attacked, if you're being threatened, you
- 1:14:33have every right to use your darker aspects to defend
- 1:14:36yourself and your kin. And I've learned a lot of that
- 1:14:38through Odin, through the various magical aspects.
- 1:14:41I've got abilities not just through Norse paganism, but
- 1:14:45other aspects of magic that I've practiced where there's avenues
- 1:14:49you can go down to harm people if you want to do that, like
- 1:14:53choose not to do that because I, I live my life in honor and
- 1:14:57integrity. Tear is a very, very strong
- 1:14:59guiding influence on me. It's not just Odin and Tear has
- 1:15:04that that influence on, you know, many Norse pagans as well.
- 1:15:08It's about living with honor and integrity.
- 1:15:11And that's what I try and do. But embracing the shadow I've
- 1:15:14been in that been down that path.
- 1:15:15I've integrated a lot of my shadow aspects and I have that
- 1:15:18capability to do great harm, but I choose not to because I want
- 1:15:23to live in a world where people act with integrity like I do and
- 1:15:28help and empower others rather than climb over them to get to
- 1:15:33the top. I think that's probably one of
- 1:15:35the most harmful aspects of the world in which we live now is
- 1:15:38that there's a few people who have power and they're using it
- 1:15:42to exploit others. Whereas the Norse Pagan way is
- 1:15:47to, to empower your brother, empower your sister, to empower
- 1:15:52your kin, to take them along on the journey with you.
- 1:15:54Not climb over the top to over the top of them to get to the
- 1:15:57top, to about bringing others who have your beliefs, but also
- 1:16:01inspiring others who may not have those beliefs by acting
- 1:16:04within with honour and integrity.
- 1:16:06And that's what I've learned through working with Tear in
- 1:16:09particular. So yeah, like I said, I've
- 1:16:11escaped those negative aspects. I've just used them as an
- 1:16:14evolutionary catalyst to make my life better and to make the
- 1:16:19lives of other other people that I serve better as well.
- 1:16:23I hope that answers your question.
- 1:16:25Yeah, no, that's great, You know, because a lot of times
- 1:16:28people when they, when they at first maybe, you know, when
- 1:16:32they, when they first are confronted with this idea of
- 1:16:34the, you know, maybe maybe it's because of programming and, and
- 1:16:39being brought up in a certain worldview to think that, you
- 1:16:41know, darkness is bad and, and that it there's there's an
- 1:16:44inherent evil in darkness and that the darkness is to be
- 1:16:48vanquished and the light has to rule and all this.
- 1:16:52Whereas the reality of it is that the light and the dark
- 1:16:56share equal time, you know what I mean?
- 1:16:58Like there is, there is time for all of it and there are times
- 1:17:03when the darkness needs to preside and but in a way that
- 1:17:08doesn't destroy, you know what I mean?
- 1:17:10Like that with the self, at least it's, you know, it's
- 1:17:13working with all of it. And it, and I said before, you
- 1:17:16know, confronting it and giving space to it.
- 1:17:21It's, it's, it can be scary in the dark.
- 1:17:23Like, you know, a lot of people are afraid of the dark and that
- 1:17:26that's not just being afraid of a dark's place or a dark room.
- 1:17:31They're just afraid of the darkness that is within them.
- 1:17:35And hey, that's still a part of us.
- 1:17:39We have to give space to it and work with it in a in a in a
- 1:17:43holistic way, right? Yeah, and it goes to a saying
- 1:17:47that that I actually that came to me one day and I've written
- 1:17:51it. I've got got a collection of
- 1:17:53sayings on one of my Instagram profiles that I've written down
- 1:17:57that I don't really promote that much, but a line that just came
- 1:17:59to me one day and let the light guide me and the darkness teach
- 1:18:03me. You learn a lot from actually
- 1:18:07exploring the darker aspects of yourself.
- 1:18:10But it was also of the world. But I'm always careful to make
- 1:18:16sure that I don't do anything to harm others.
- 1:18:19So I let the light guide me. Whatever I do is to better
- 1:18:23myself, to help my family and my kin and my Blood Brothers and
- 1:18:27sisters and others that I serve. I don't want to be a force for
- 1:18:33darkness in this world. Yes, I've got that darkness
- 1:18:35capability, but I want to use that darkness to help myself and
- 1:18:42to help others. And not many people realize
- 1:18:44that. You realize that, and a lot of
- 1:18:46your listeners realize that. But yeah, there seems to be this
- 1:18:50line between good and evil that you can't, can't cross.
- 1:18:54And it's a Christian mindset and it's an Islamic mindset and A
- 1:18:57and a Judaistic mindset. Those Abrahamic religions have
- 1:19:01entrenched that view in society where there's a very clear
- 1:19:05delineation of doing right and doing wrong.
- 1:19:09And it's changing. More and more people are
- 1:19:11starting to see the reality of, of the world we live in and, and
- 1:19:16the reality about themselves, the truth of themselves, and
- 1:19:18moving out of that. Just doing good without any
- 1:19:22thought of looking at me. What lies beneath, what lies in
- 1:19:26the darkness, not just within, but without, and exploring that
- 1:19:30for you, for your own benefit and for the benefit of the
- 1:19:33world. And that's the way I try to look
- 1:19:34at things. Yeah, I've learned a lot in the
- 1:19:38dark. I don't know about you, but you
- 1:19:41know, I've learned a lot when there's nothing else there to
- 1:19:44guide me, you know, I've got, I've got to really sit with
- 1:19:48that, you know, and like, well, how do I get out of this?
- 1:19:51How do I get, it's not about getting out of it really.
- 1:19:53It's, it's getting through it, you know, it's not trying to
- 1:19:56escape it 'cause that's, that's, that's the other part of it, you
- 1:19:58know, because of that fear when confronted with it or when
- 1:20:02presented with it. There's this natural tendency
- 1:20:06for folks, especially at at the beginning to fight and get away
- 1:20:11from it. They want to escape because it's
- 1:20:12uncomfortable. It's, it's, it's scary, you know
- 1:20:14what I mean? So no, it's, it's, it's going
- 1:20:19into that, going into that abyss and going, well, whatever's
- 1:20:23going to happen here, I'm here for it.
- 1:20:26I'm going to work through it. Yeah, I've had, I've had those
- 1:20:31experiences. I know a lot of people that
- 1:20:32listen or watch this show have had similar things too.
- 1:20:35So I'm excited. Does does Odin's tutelage, would
- 1:20:39you say? Is it more, you know,
- 1:20:41instructional initiatory? Does it?
- 1:20:46Maybe a little bit of both or nothing at all?
- 1:20:49Well, I'd say it's all of those things.
- 1:20:51It does deal with the darker aspects of of yourself and the
- 1:20:56world. Yeah, of course.
- 1:20:57I wouldn't really say it has any particular theme other than
- 1:21:00personal empowerment. And it's very, very honest.
- 1:21:03It's very brutal. Some of the things that he said
- 1:21:06in this book are very direct. Well, pretty much all the things
- 1:21:09he said are very direct. He doesn't beat around the Bush.
- 1:21:13But yeah, it's instructional. It's it's, it helps you look at
- 1:21:20the world from a certain perspective, but also look
- 1:21:23within and look, look to the power within that you have
- 1:21:25within yourself, but also to seek knowledge, to seek more
- 1:21:28wisdom. There's, I wouldn't say it has
- 1:21:32any anyone genre. There's just so many things that
- 1:21:35are in there and like, but like I said, I can't even remember
- 1:21:3899% of what's written in there. Just the things that I have read
- 1:21:42since I've been transcribing it. I'm like, wow, I didn't have no
- 1:21:46idea. I wrote that down.
- 1:21:47So until the book comes out, until I read and read, read all
- 1:21:52the messages back, since I've written them down, I just left
- 1:21:55them. As I'm going through and editing
- 1:21:58the writing and and I'm in the process of designing the pages
- 1:22:01now. So the last thing I'm going to
- 1:22:02do is edit and read through everything I've written because
- 1:22:05I still haven't read it all. Then I'll be able to get a sense
- 1:22:08of what it's actually about, and that'll be included in the
- 1:22:12promotional material. I do have a sense of what it's
- 1:22:15about. But actual content of what?
- 1:22:17Everything that's in there? Yeah, I'm still in the dark
- 1:22:19because I can't remember. Did was there anything since, I
- 1:22:23mean, I realize it's a lot to to, there's no way possible for
- 1:22:28you to retain it or remember it all, but did like, does anything
- 1:22:30particular stand out in you during the writing process that
- 1:22:34surprised you or challenged you of your own understanding of
- 1:22:38Odin? Like, was there something that
- 1:22:39came to you that was like, well, wasn't expecting that or you
- 1:22:43know. Yeah, well, yeah, there's,
- 1:22:47there's what I'm remembering now, the things that I've shared
- 1:22:49on social media, you know, there's been themes about shame,
- 1:22:55there's themes of honour, there's love, there's power.
- 1:22:59I wouldn't say anything's I suppose has shocked me as yet.
- 1:23:03There may be some things in there that I, that I read well
- 1:23:08as I'm going through the editing process that I'll go, wow,
- 1:23:11wasn't expecting that. But it's a very honest appraisal
- 1:23:16of things that I suppose that many other texts would leave
- 1:23:19alone because it's to do with power.
- 1:23:24A lot of people will will tell you, particularly from a
- 1:23:27Abrahamic religion mindset, that you shouldn't do certain things
- 1:23:31to gain certain power. But like we've been discussing
- 1:23:35here already, working through the darkness and working with
- 1:23:38other gods, he's mentioned Loki in particular and Hell in
- 1:23:44particular. And I've worked with with them
- 1:23:46as a result of doing Odin's Tutalism, he's inspired me to
- 1:23:49work deeper with the other, you know, darker gods.
- 1:23:53It has, it has everything in there.
- 1:23:55From what I'm recalling of what I've seen so far, what I do
- 1:23:59remember, there's, there's nothing that's, that's not
- 1:24:01explored really. It does inspire you to go deep
- 1:24:07and to look within and to look not just to the light but to the
- 1:24:10dark. So there's going to be a lot of
- 1:24:12surprises in there for a lot of people, I suppose those that
- 1:24:16have worked directly with that and may not be surprised.
- 1:24:18But there's going to be information in there about how
- 1:24:22to attain certain knowledge and how to retain that knowledge
- 1:24:27within your body and how to utilise power and honour and all
- 1:24:30of those things that we've talked about already.
- 1:24:32But that to the Norse way of life.
- 1:24:35But but life in general. Very wild man.
- 1:24:39I'm excited to follow along in this way with the with you on on
- 1:24:44the show, you know, sharing of of when people can expect this.
- 1:24:47I'm I'm sure you'll keep everybody posted and up to date
- 1:24:50through your socials on this. So yeah, definitely for the
- 1:24:52listeners, you know, every or you know, people on Patreon
- 1:24:55here. Watch and check out wherever it
- 1:24:57is that you're catching this. Basically, it's, it's going to
- 1:24:59be in the show notes or the description of the video, if
- 1:25:01you're watching this for the links to, to Sam's socials and
- 1:25:04websites and, and details on on when to expect this publication
- 1:25:09to be released. So very exciting stuff.
- 1:25:11Sam, we're going to get wrapped. We're going to get close to
- 1:25:16wrapping it up because I've already kept you almost an hour
- 1:25:18and a half and I want to be respectful of your time.
- 1:25:20And this has been a great conversation, by the way.
- 1:25:22I don't want to downplay it at all.
- 1:25:24I've been, like I said, I could, I could make a, I can make hour
- 1:25:28long, hours long conversations about just these topics alone
- 1:25:33instead of trying to divest it and, and break it all out.
- 1:25:36So definitely appreciate you going into the details that you
- 1:25:39have. So as we move towards wrapping
- 1:25:43up, I, I always like to throw out just some random kind of
- 1:25:47rapid fire what whatever first comes to your mind, answers
- 1:25:50right, Nothing right, nothing wrong in particular, just what
- 1:25:53comes to your heart. So if you're cool with that, I'm
- 1:25:55going to run through those at this.
- 1:25:58Point. Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:26:00Shoot. All right, you're going into a
- 1:26:03crisis. What room would you want to take
- 1:26:05with you? Oh Uros, Good one.
- 1:26:12Yeah. Definitely good one.
- 1:26:15I've had some interesting things happened with me for in my life
- 1:26:19and and Uros has has made its those horns came up or down
- 1:26:24however you want to look, you know.
- 1:26:26Yeah, well, I could go into more detail if you want about Urus or
- 1:26:31you just want to do the quick fire.
- 1:26:33So you know what? We'll, we'll, we'll, we'll,
- 1:26:35we'll divert. We'll, we'll divert off the path
- 1:26:37a little bit. But yeah, go ahead.
- 1:26:38Give me, give me, give me some juicy deets on on.
- 1:26:41Urus. Yeah, I'm sure.
- 1:26:43Well, in Yeah, going into a challenge.
- 1:26:45Urus is is the ruin of strength and power.
- 1:26:47Of course universal power, but I'll give an example of how I've
- 1:26:51used it. So I do martial arts as well.
- 1:26:53I've I've practiced in a few different disciplines, but I
- 1:26:58started a crab Marga practice with a particular school in
- 1:27:01Western Sydney and I was having a bit of trouble with my kicks.
- 1:27:07My legs weren't just firing in the right way and I put Urus on
- 1:27:12my shoes with combined with Thorazas, which means focus.
- 1:27:17And it's it's the rune of Thor and of course the frost giants.
- 1:27:21And within a a week or two, I was kicking the shit of out of
- 1:27:24everyone at the at the studio. It was great and my kicks
- 1:27:29improved out of sight. Wow.
- 1:27:32And I would, I would attribute that that to putting the rune
- 1:27:35Urus and Thorazas together on my shoes and it it made a hell of a
- 1:27:39difference. So that's an example of, hey,
- 1:27:41you can use them in a practical sense.
- 1:27:45Very cool. All right, this is kind of an
- 1:27:49interesting 1. I don't, you know, I had a
- 1:27:51reservation about asking this, but would you, would you or
- 1:27:54would you not ever recommend a rune to people just getting into
- 1:27:57runic study? Like I don't go into that one
- 1:28:00just yet. You're not ready for it kind of
- 1:28:02thing. Like do you have like A and you
- 1:28:05know yes or no? But you can you can dive deeper
- 1:28:08into your answer if you want. Yeah, well, I tend to notice
- 1:28:13that some people have a passing knowledge of rooms.
- 1:28:16So I wouldn't say start working with one in particular.
- 1:28:20My advice is really dive into one and start working with the
- 1:28:23whole system. But what I have noticed that
- 1:28:26people around the, around the industry that I'm in or the,
- 1:28:31the, the places that I go and the books I've read, algae is,
- 1:28:35is a very common room that a lot of people know as a protection
- 1:28:38room. So as an introductory rune,
- 1:28:42that's a good one I suppose to start with if you're committed
- 1:28:46to going deeper. But yeah, as, as everyone knows,
- 1:28:49it's a protection rune. It's a rune of the elk.
- 1:28:52And I use it quite a lot in my own protection work,
- 1:28:55particularly when I'm at shows to protect my energy from, you
- 1:28:58know, a bleed of other people that may have negative thoughts
- 1:29:01and whatever that they aren't aware of.
- 1:29:03So yeah, that would be one that I would highlight.
- 1:29:08Good one. I actually have a kind of a Side
- 1:29:11Story about Al geese and myself. I I was doing some I was on the
- 1:29:17property of a local man in our area.
- 1:29:20He's an elder of our heathen community here and his property
- 1:29:23had sustained some damage from storms.
- 1:29:28And so he had a lot of trees that had come down around his
- 1:29:31property. And there was this, there was
- 1:29:34this one large red oak tree that had been struck by lightning
- 1:29:39split down the middle. And there was a big, you know,
- 1:29:42he was cutting it up for firewood.
- 1:29:43But he's like, you know, anything that's on this tree
- 1:29:46that you want, obviously, you know, feel free to, you know, to
- 1:29:51take, if you want to craft with it, if you want to make
- 1:29:53something, if you know something speaks to you and you know, you
- 1:29:56know, while we're harvesting this tree, feel free.
- 1:30:00And I'm working through the brush and everything and, and I
- 1:30:03found this, you know, still part of it.
- 1:30:06This, this one branch that, you know, I could see algae's in the
- 1:30:12shape of the, of the branch. And it was I, I, I cut the piece
- 1:30:16of it off and I took it home with me and I processed that.
- 1:30:19I got the bark down to the where it was nothing but that, that
- 1:30:21beautiful red oak color. And I have it.
- 1:30:26It's about, you know, a little bit taller than me, you know, so
- 1:30:28close to about 6 foot or so staff and it's almost perfectly
- 1:30:32straight. And at the top is 3 branches
- 1:30:34that make the algaes. Rune Wow.
- 1:30:38I love that. That that's special, Yeah.
- 1:30:42Literally, you know a rune staff on on my staff from a tree that
- 1:30:46was touched by the Thunderer himself.
- 1:30:49Yeah, I love that. That's amazing.
- 1:30:52Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right, so back to the whole
- 1:30:55thing now. So OK, next one I got for you
- 1:30:58without an explanation. I'm just going to give you 2
- 1:31:01words. Can you tell me which one is
- 1:31:04what makes you more sather or gaulder?
- 1:31:08Gaulder. I kind of, I kind of was
- 1:31:13thinking that's going to be the answer just given the
- 1:31:15conversation we've had tonight. But yeah.
- 1:31:18Absolutely. Can you tell us one thing that
- 1:31:22Odin has taught you the hard way?
- 1:31:27One thing, well, yeah. Well, like I mentioned before,
- 1:31:30the the process with with the GUI was meditation.
- 1:31:35That was I had to go through a nine day process to learn that.
- 1:31:38And oh, there's so many different examples that that
- 1:31:42I've had. But I think with Odin nothing
- 1:31:45comes easy. So I think everything has come
- 1:31:48the hard way through Odin. Gotcha.
- 1:31:51All right. Last rapid fire one, you've
- 1:31:54spent a lot of time under, we'll say, Odin's tutelage.
- 1:31:58And from those experiences or from just your living
- 1:32:03experience, what do you think Odin is maybe asking or trying
- 1:32:09to get through to people right now?
- 1:32:14Yeah, well, one thing that I've noticed from my own personal
- 1:32:18practice as well is trying to reactivate the old ways of
- 1:32:25living and the old ways of of operating and and practicing in
- 1:32:31people, particularly of European ancestry.
- 1:32:33What I've noticed is a lot of people of European ancestry
- 1:32:38aren't aware of their ancestry or the practices of their
- 1:32:41ancestors. You see a lot of people in the
- 1:32:44spiritual industry in particular, practicing practices
- 1:32:50that are not of their own people.
- 1:32:51And a lot of it comes from Eastern influences like
- 1:32:54Kundalini and yoga and, and all of that kind of stuff.
- 1:32:59And there's nothing wrong with that.
- 1:33:00I'm not criticizing those ways of, of, of being.
- 1:33:03They're very powerful in their own right.
- 1:33:06But I believe that people of European ancestry, they have
- 1:33:11these old ways in their blood, literally.
- 1:33:13And when you take advantage and really reconnect with your DNA
- 1:33:18and your blood and your ancestry, because our ancestors
- 1:33:21live within us in our bodies, then that's when you really
- 1:33:25reconnect with who you are and, and the old gods and the old
- 1:33:28ways of living. So that's the advice I would
- 1:33:31give people, is to really reconnect with your ancestry.
- 1:33:37And then that reconnects you with the old ways of living that
- 1:33:41your ancestors experienced. And that just opens up so many
- 1:33:45doors for you, as it has for me, as I described earlier about my
- 1:33:49journey when I reconnected with my ancestry, it just opened up
- 1:33:53everything that I practice now. And I'm extremely grateful to
- 1:33:57the gods and to the runes for presenting themselves to me the
- 1:34:01way that they have because it's enriched my life beyond measure,
- 1:34:07you know? Yeah.
- 1:34:09Sounds like it, man. And everything that you've
- 1:34:10described, it's, you know, and this is going to be like for,
- 1:34:14you know, obviously we've made it over an hour and a half now.
- 1:34:16But you know, this isn't to me is like an episode of because
- 1:34:21I've had I've had academics on here.
- 1:34:22I've had people who are more on the reconstructionist side of
- 1:34:25things. They, they don't devalue UPG or,
- 1:34:29or more of the you know, I'll say woo woo side of things,
- 1:34:32quote UN quote, that they just have them a different, they they
- 1:34:35look at heathen refruit through a different lens.
- 1:34:38I'm a bit more middle of the road kind of guy.
- 1:34:40I love the historical backing of things and I love to know where
- 1:34:44things came from and why they are the way they are now.
- 1:34:47And but how it how we move forth with it and how we carry it
- 1:34:51forth. And I love hearing people's own
- 1:34:53experiences. It's it.
- 1:34:57It just goes to show you how you know there's no real right way.
- 1:35:02You know, how it how we experience our existence and how
- 1:35:07we experience that truth comes in various forms and it all
- 1:35:12aligns with spirit, all it all aligns with source, but the name
- 1:35:17that it takes the veneer, the aesthetic, the you know, it,
- 1:35:21it's, it's variable. You know what I mean?
- 1:35:23Different cultures are going to have a different look, different
- 1:35:25thing. But the way, the old way, it
- 1:35:28aligns with with that, that old source.
- 1:35:31So, and just hearing people's experience of, of living that
- 1:35:35and, and coming to, to, to realize that it's, it's
- 1:35:38beautiful. And I appreciate you taking the
- 1:35:40time to to share yours with us. Thank you, Jesse.
- 1:35:44Yeah, it's it's, you're quite welcome.
- 1:35:46And I'm, I'm, I feel privileged to be on your show and to share
- 1:35:50this, this information with you and and your viewers and
- 1:35:54listeners. Like like you said, we could
- 1:35:57talk for quite a, quite a while longer on this topic.
- 1:35:59There's much more to share. I've experienced so much in just
- 1:36:03such a short time. But yeah, I understand we've got
- 1:36:06a time limit and we we don't want to keep keep going for too
- 1:36:11long. Maybe we could revisit it at
- 1:36:13another time. Oh, for sure.
- 1:36:14You know, I, I, I keep the door open for.
- 1:36:17I don't think I've had, I don't think I've ever had a guest in
- 1:36:20the last seven seasons where I said, well, this was great, but
- 1:36:23I'm never going to want you back on the show again.
- 1:36:24I don't think that's ever happened.
- 1:36:27But yeah, so I, I keep the door open, right, like, or I leave
- 1:36:29the an open invitation. I'll say, you know, so maybe
- 1:36:33after the book comes out or something else comes down the
- 1:36:36road later on that you'd like to reach back out.
- 1:36:39Love to have you back on the show, Sam.
- 1:36:41It would be, it would be wonderful to, to catch back up
- 1:36:44again. If you ever find yourself on
- 1:36:47this side of the world and you're looking for, you know, a
- 1:36:50place to, to to rest your head. Just send me an e-mail.
- 1:36:54If you're in Tennessee or coming through, let me know.
- 1:36:56We'll, we'll figure something out.
- 1:36:58So in the in the hospitality and you know all that.
- 1:37:03Yeah, well, likewise if you're in in Australia.
- 1:37:07I'd love to, man. I, I, I, I've never been, of
- 1:37:09course, but I would love to. Maybe I'll, maybe I'll make it
- 1:37:11out that way one day. Yeah, well, it's a, it's a long
- 1:37:15way from where you are, but yeah, I'm intending to visit the
- 1:37:18United States maybe this year. There's something that I've got
- 1:37:20planned that I've been talking with someone over there about
- 1:37:23South and the southern states. I definitely want to visit.
- 1:37:26I've been drawn to the to actually, when you said you were
- 1:37:29from Tennessee, I'm like, oh, I'm actually going to go to
- 1:37:31Tennessee when I'm in the US. So it'll, it'll definitely be,
- 1:37:35it is definitely on the cards or on the rune, so to speak.
- 1:37:38Yeah, Yeah, yeah. We'll see.
- 1:37:39Maybe, maybe Rydo will. Maybe Rydo will.
- 1:37:42Will move us in that direction. We'll see, right?
- 1:37:46Yeah, absolutely. Cool, Sam.
- 1:37:48Hey, listen, before we wrap this up, is there anything that you'd
- 1:37:51like to say to the audience? Parting words, places they can
- 1:37:54find you, Anything like that? Well, yeah, you can follow me on
- 1:38:00social media. I'm on Instagram, I'm on
- 1:38:02Facebook. I'm probably most active on

- 1:38:07bit more on there, a bit more compatible with what I share.
- 1:38:10I have a TikTok page as well, have a website, it's
- 1:38:14www.shyphendhyphenbartlett.com and that's a new website.
- 1:38:23So I have a few things that I'm sharing on there and I'm that's
- 1:38:26under construction at the moment.
- 1:38:28So keep an eye on that for an announcement for, for
- 1:38:31announcements. But yeah, there's one thing
- 1:38:33that's coming after Odin's tutelage or it's coming soon
- 1:38:36that I'm going to share with people.
- 1:38:37It's in regards to what I've learnt from, you know, this way
- 1:38:42of life, but also martial arts related and it's connected to
- 1:38:47the ulfeathnar and you would know about the ulfeathnar and so
- 1:38:51would your, your viewers. So there's something coming
- 1:38:54about that that's that I'm quite excited about.
- 1:38:56And after Odin's tutelage is out of the way, I'll be focusing on
- 1:39:01that as well. Awesome.
- 1:39:03We're definitely excited to to to see the updates with all that
- 1:39:08as well. So for sure people check out the
