- 0:00Speaker 1: Uh-huh. I sure will. Good morning, everybody. You're listening to
- 0:07Speaker 1: The Voice. Come on. Dig me now. One and only
- 0:10Speaker 1: Steve Harvey. Got a radio show. Well, nothing changes about that.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Nothing changes about that. Man, I was just getting ready
- 0:21Speaker 1: to come on the air this morning. I was just thinking, man.
- 0:27Speaker 1: I was just having a reflective moment of just how
- 0:30Speaker 1: really good God has been to me. I just, it's, it's,
- 0:36Speaker 1: it's man. Let me just say that again. How really
- 0:40Speaker 1: good God has been to me. And here's the cold part.
- 0:45Speaker 1: In spite of myself, you understand, in spite of all
- 0:49Speaker 1: my shortcomings, in spite of all of my flaws and, and, and, and, and,
- 0:56Speaker 1: In spite of all of what anybody has said about me, God,
- 1:02Speaker 1: through his grace and mercy, just keeps me anyway. So
- 1:06Speaker 1: many of us are exceptional people, but we refuse to
- 1:14Speaker 1: just go ahead and be exceptional. We settle for the ordinary.
- 1:21Speaker 1: We follow the pack. We try to fit in. Man,
- 1:26Speaker 1: oh man, oh man. You know, I've heard my wife
- 1:28Speaker 1: say this to my children all the time when she
- 1:31Speaker 1: was scolding them or talking to them. She'd be talking
- 1:33Speaker 1: to them about leadership. You know, why are you following
- 1:36Speaker 1: everybody when God clearly made you to lead? So many
- 1:40Speaker 1: of us are born and so many of you are
- 1:42Speaker 1: born to be exceptional people, but we always trying to
- 1:47Speaker 1: follow the pack. Why would you try to fit in?
- 1:52Speaker 1: Why would you try to be like everybody else, be ordinary?
- 1:58Speaker 1: Why would you follow the pack when God has created
- 2:01Speaker 1: you to be exceptional? The key word in exceptional is accept.
- 2:08Speaker 1: You ever done this right here? You know, everybody did
- 2:11Speaker 1: that except me. Everybody felt that way except me. Everybody
- 2:18Speaker 1: said that except me. Everybody wanted that except me. Everybody
- 2:25Speaker 1: went over there except me. Everybody jumped in except me.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Except me. See, why have you said that in your
- 2:35Speaker 1: life if you were not to be exceptional? See, you
- 2:39Speaker 1: got to say everybody except me. At one point, I
- 2:43Speaker 1: don't know who ain't done it. You know, everybody voted
- 2:46Speaker 1: no except me. See, so you're not created to follow
- 2:53Speaker 1: the pack. You ain't created to fit in. You ain't
- 2:56Speaker 1: created to, you know, to be ordinary. You were created
- 3:00Speaker 1: to be exceptional. As exceptional as your fingerprint on your
- 3:05Speaker 1: finger is, you were created to be exceptional. Why not
- 3:08Speaker 1: make this the year that you go head on and
- 3:12Speaker 1: be exceptional? Why won't this be the year that you
- 3:16Speaker 1: decide in your mind, but just has to be a
- 3:19Speaker 1: decision that we make now. We're not following the pack
- 3:22Speaker 1: no more. We're not trying to fit in no more.
- 3:26Speaker 1: We ain't settling for ordinary no more. We're going to
- 3:28Speaker 1: be exceptional. But you know, you got to go ahead
- 3:32Speaker 1: and follow that. You got to get on the exceptional
- 3:35Speaker 1: path because that's what you were created for. Why be ordinary?
- 3:39Speaker 1: You know, but all of this, this comes, it has
- 3:41Speaker 1: to start with a thought. You got to first think something.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Thoughts become things. A man is as he thinketh. That's
- 3:52Speaker 1: all you will ever be. So what are your thoughts today?
- 3:55Speaker 1: Why not have exceptional thoughts instead of ordinary thoughts? Why
- 3:59Speaker 1: not have exceptional thoughts instead of fitting in thoughts? So
- 4:03Speaker 1: why you want to be like everybody else? Why you
- 4:06Speaker 1: want to be ordinary when you could possibly be extraordinary
- 4:10Speaker 1: with a change of your mind? a change of your venue,
- 4:13Speaker 1: and you don't have to be any other kind of
- 4:16Speaker 1: way just because my mama was this way or my
- 4:19Speaker 1: daddy was this way or this the school I went to,
- 4:22Speaker 1: this what race I belong to, this my sexual preference,
- 4:25Speaker 1: this my this, this my that. How many excuses you need?
- 4:31Speaker 1: How many excuses? What's it going to be this year?
- 4:35Speaker 1: that we let another 365 days slip by without improving
- 4:40Speaker 1: our condition, our place, our spot, our life, the quality
- 4:45Speaker 1: of life we have. We cannot afford to keep letting
- 4:50Speaker 1: all these years go by without changing. You're an exceptional person.
- 4:57Speaker 1: How many times have you set up and said, everybody
- 5:00Speaker 1: did that except me? You know, I was on, everybody
- 5:04Speaker 1: jumped in except me. I told him I knew it.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Everybody voted for that except me. And now look at it. Man,
- 5:13Speaker 1: it seemed like everybody went that way except me. Okay.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Do you get it? Do you understand what's being said
- 5:23Speaker 1: to you? That old except me is because couldn't it
- 5:26Speaker 1: be because you're an exceptional person? And it's time for
- 5:30Speaker 1: you to take control of that. It's time for you
- 5:33Speaker 1: to start thinking different. It's time for you to start
- 5:35Speaker 1: acting on what you think. It's time for you to
- 5:38Speaker 1: start doing something about it. It's time for you to
- 5:40Speaker 1: stop taking each and every day that God gives us
- 5:43Speaker 1: for granted and letting them go by the wayside like
- 5:46Speaker 1: you got plenty more. Well, you may have plenty more,
- 5:49Speaker 1: but guess what? What you wasting the ones you got for?
- 5:54Speaker 1: I got you young and you feel like you're going
- 5:56Speaker 1: to live forever. Okay, cool. But let me ask you something. See,
- 6:01Speaker 1: here go the part about, suppose you do live. See,
- 6:05Speaker 1: everybody worrying about dying, but I got news for you.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Suppose you keep on living. You want to keep living
- 6:10Speaker 1: in the condition you in now? You want to keep
- 6:13Speaker 1: living with the money you got now? You want to
- 6:15Speaker 1: keep living with the relationship you got now? You want
- 6:18Speaker 1: to keep living by yourself like you are now? You
- 6:21Speaker 1: want to keep wanting the right relationship, the right man,
- 6:23Speaker 1: the right woman, but you keep getting the wrong one.
- 6:25Speaker 1: You want to keep doing that for the rest of
- 6:28Speaker 1: your life. Problem ain't dying. This problem is if you
- 6:30Speaker 1: keep on living, who wants to keep on living just
- 6:33Speaker 1: the way they are right now. And if you could say,
- 6:37Speaker 1: I'm cool with, I am just the way I am
- 6:38Speaker 1: right now. Then cool. This conversation ain't for you. I
- 6:41Speaker 1: ain't got no problem with that. You know, you don't
- 6:44Speaker 1: say greatness ain't for everybody. Being exceptional ain't for everybody.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Becoming extraordinary ain't for everybody. Heck, becoming successful ain't for everybody.
- 6:55Speaker 1: I got it. And you can come up with a
- 6:58Speaker 1: way to justify your non-existence and your ordinary life all
- 7:01Speaker 1: you want. And that's fine and dandy. I ain't got
- 7:04Speaker 1: no problem with it because some people just going to
- 7:06Speaker 1: be regular. Some people just going to follow the pack,
- 7:10Speaker 1: follow the crowd. Some people just wants to fit in.
- 7:14Speaker 1: But if you're not that person, if you want to
- 7:16Speaker 1: be extraordinary, If you want to be exceptional, if you
- 7:20Speaker 1: want to be, if you want to dare to be
- 7:21Speaker 1: great at something and you got to change your mindset,
- 7:25Speaker 1: you got to get with your creator and find out
- 7:27Speaker 1: what he created you for. You got to quit thinking
- 7:29Speaker 1: of things just in your own thought process. You know,
- 7:33Speaker 1: lean not to your own understanding. I don't know where
- 7:35Speaker 1: that is, but it's in there somewhere. See, and once
- 7:38Speaker 1: you lean, if you lean to your own understanding, you
- 7:41Speaker 1: know what it's going to do is going to limit you, man.
- 7:43Speaker 1: It's going to limit you. Why not see what God
- 7:46Speaker 1: got for you? I would rather know what God got
- 7:49Speaker 1: for me than to think of all the things I
- 7:51Speaker 1: could because I can't outthink him. I done tried it before.
- 7:55Speaker 1: All right. It's just the beginning. We'll have a good one, man.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Let's go. You're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
