- 0:07Speaker 1: Good morning, good morning, good morning, welcome, welcome, welcome in
- 0:10Speaker 1: time now born cor talk with it, Brad, don't just
- 0:13Speaker 1: saying Dutch toyo. Good morning, Brad. You brought friends once again.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Good morning, Tom, Yes, I did. As usual. I prefer
- 0:19Speaker 1: to have company for the radio show. It's always a
- 0:22Speaker 1: little better or the podcast for those of you watching
- 0:25Speaker 1: us on your phones or computers.
- 0:29Speaker 2: I've got Kristen, Kurt and Ben Ames here representing Samaritan
- 0:34Speaker 2: Counseling and Growth Center and having us.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Thank you for coming.
- 0:38Speaker 2: It's great to you know, you guys have been around
- 0:41Speaker 2: Bartlezil for over fifty years now, and I know.
- 0:47Speaker 1: You guys. You're there when people really need it.
- 0:50Speaker 2: And you know, I've had the unfortunate times where I
- 0:54Speaker 2: had employees were kind of in a moment of crisis.
- 0:58Speaker 1: I've referred them to you guys.
- 1:00Speaker 2: They didn't know what to do, they didn't think they
- 1:02Speaker 2: could afford counseling and that kind of stuff, and you
- 1:06Speaker 2: guys figured all that out really in a great way.
- 1:09Speaker 1: I think.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Yeah, it took us, it took about fifty years.
- 1:13Speaker 1: No, no, what's evolved years ago?
- 1:18Speaker 4: They you know, several pastors from the community got together
- 1:21Speaker 4: and decided that there needed to be one single place
- 1:24Speaker 4: for their parishioners to go to get counseling, and it
- 1:27Speaker 4: just kind of evolved from there, and we're we're fifty
- 1:32Speaker 4: two years old this year.
- 1:35Speaker 1: It's just a we're so glad.
- 1:39Speaker 4: To be able to be a part of the Barblesville
- 1:40Speaker 4: community and to be able to provide that support to
- 1:42Speaker 4: folks in there, you know, in their some sometimes their
- 1:46Speaker 4: darkest moments and then sometimes it's just in those moments
- 1:50Speaker 4: where they don't know what to do. So yeah, we're
- 1:54Speaker 4: we love being able to provide that support and a
- 1:57Speaker 4: lot of times at a significantly reduced rate.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Now you do kind of match that up with the
- 2:03Speaker 1: resources they have.
- 2:04Speaker 4: And yeah, so we you know, we do accept all
- 2:07Speaker 4: major pretty much most major health insuran, private health insurance companies.
- 2:14Speaker 4: We do work with Medicare. We're not medicate, we don't
- 2:18Speaker 4: accept Medicaid at this point. But where we're able to
- 2:21Speaker 4: subsidize that is we are a program partner with the
- 2:24Speaker 4: Barblesville Regional United Way right and as part of that partnership,
- 2:28Speaker 4: they're able to help help with some subsidization for us,
- 2:33Speaker 4: and so we're able to take those take those funds
- 2:36Speaker 4: and significantly reduced.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Folks, that's wonderful and uh, you know, it takes a
- 2:44Speaker 2: lot of support. You have staff, you have volunteers, great board,
- 2:52Speaker 2: lots of uh, you know, the charitable event coming up
- 2:55Speaker 2: here in a month or so.
- 2:57Speaker 1: At more than a month, we're a month.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Sports spectacular those people who A lot of people remember that.
- 3:04Speaker 1: It's been a great event for many years. And this
- 3:08Speaker 1: year twentieth year four big.
- 3:10Speaker 3: This year we're so big.
- 3:13Speaker 2: It's kind of a big year for sports. We had
- 3:16Speaker 2: the KWN night at the ballpark last night.
- 3:19Speaker 1: That was really fun. I was I was down there
- 3:22Speaker 1: for a little while.
- 3:22Speaker 2: I had to get out of there and go watch
- 3:25Speaker 2: USA soccer play in the World Cup.
- 3:27Speaker 1: That was quite a match. That was a lot of fun.
- 3:29Speaker 2: That we got that red card and I wasn't sure
- 3:32Speaker 2: what that was going to do, and then a lot
- 3:34Speaker 2: of pressure and then we got that other goal. Now,
- 3:37Speaker 2: my sons both played college soccer, and I didn't understand
- 3:43Speaker 2: soccer when they started, and and I followed them around
- 3:46Speaker 2: enough now that that I'm kind of obsessed with it
- 3:49Speaker 2: like they are. All I know is red card bad,
- 3:52Speaker 2: Red card bad, yeah, and yellow card is not quite
- 3:56Speaker 2: so bad. The red card is that I think was
- 3:59Speaker 2: kind of a an unfair red card. But we'll leave
- 4:03Speaker 2: that for the the blogosphere or whatever.
- 4:07Speaker 1: We got big holiday weekend coming up.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Weet tournament starts today this wedding eight o'clock celebrating two
- 4:15Speaker 2: hundred and fifty years.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Great July fourth celebration. You know, it's quite a time,
- 4:21Speaker 1: very great time to celebrate and think of and early
- 4:26Speaker 1: big year for it's a lot of it's a big year.
- 4:29Speaker 1: It's all of those things.
- 4:30Speaker 2: You know, we should take a moment and think about
- 4:32Speaker 2: the you know, everything that goes into being two hundred
- 4:36Speaker 2: and fifty years and you know, the Declaration of Independence,
- 4:40Speaker 2: who were celebrating the signing of that and the how
- 4:43Speaker 2: that you know, the the foundational principles that our country
- 4:48Speaker 2: was based on and that you know, it just is
- 4:52Speaker 2: it's where America is unique. And you know that's a
- 4:57Speaker 2: time you mentioned Bartlesville. Bartlesville's unique to it ends like Samaritan,
- 5:02Speaker 2: you know, and so many other great organizations in our
- 5:06Speaker 2: community are are really uh, you know kind of you know,
- 5:11Speaker 2: they're a product of our community. They're there, they support
- 5:15Speaker 2: our community, make it stronger and for for.
- 5:18Speaker 1: A you know, a small city, big town like Bartlesville.
- 5:23Speaker 1: It's uh, it's just unique.
- 5:25Speaker 2: We have so many great organizations and the community supports
- 5:28Speaker 2: it the way that they do.
- 5:30Speaker 1: And then they mentioned the.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Churches that help get you guys uh founded and and
- 5:35Speaker 2: really have supported you through the years and united way
- 5:39Speaker 2: and then the event coming up, so it all works
- 5:44Speaker 2: together exactly.
- 5:45Speaker 4: We we are, like I said, we are so glad
- 5:47Speaker 4: to be a part of the Bartlesville community. We are
- 5:50Speaker 4: grateful for the churches that are that are helping support
- 5:54Speaker 4: our mission. And there's there's several that are still part
- 5:59Speaker 4: of that original original group of churches that helped originate Samaritan.
- 6:06Speaker 1: You know. Through those, through the support, we're able to provide.
- 6:09Speaker 4: Counseling to children, adults, couples, to provide marriage counseling, family counseling.
- 6:19Speaker 4: We have a plate therapist on staff now we have
- 6:22Speaker 4: six six clinicians that are able to provide in a
- 6:26Speaker 4: ray of services.
- 6:28Speaker 1: We're excited to be able to provide just new new
- 6:32Speaker 1: modes of.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Services like E M, d R, dance movement therapy.
- 6:40Speaker 4: There's several different several different styles of counseling that.
- 6:45Speaker 1: We're able to provide. But the biggest thing for us
- 6:47Speaker 1: is just being.
- 6:48Speaker 4: Able to get in there and help folks just meet
- 6:51Speaker 4: the needs, meet the needs.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Of our community. People have a need, how did they
- 6:55Speaker 1: find you? Guys? What is the process to get involved?
- 6:58Speaker 4: They can call us at three three six fourteen sixty three,
- 7:02Speaker 4: or they can hop on our website at smaritanbarblesbel dot
- 7:05Speaker 4: org or if you see us on the street.
- 7:07Speaker 5: Just what do we do?
- 7:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a pretty pretty simple process.
- 7:12Speaker 4: They just pop in, fill out a little bit of
- 7:14Speaker 4: paperwork and we put them on and get them on
- 7:15Speaker 4: the schedule. Or our goal is to have folks in
- 7:19Speaker 4: and scene within less than a week from that initial
- 7:23Speaker 4: phone call. So and in most cases we're able to
- 7:27Speaker 4: see some folks within two to three days, which.
- 7:31Speaker 6: Is incredible because a lot of places you have weeks
- 7:33Speaker 6: of a waiting list, so two months.
- 7:36Speaker 3: So that's our goal is to get people in when
- 7:39Speaker 3: they need it.
- 7:39Speaker 4: Absolutely, And I.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Hear from everybody about how welcoming you are, all are,
- 7:44Speaker 2: And that's so important in this thing, because it's got
- 7:47Speaker 2: to be hard in some ways just to make that
- 7:49Speaker 2: call right.
- 7:50Speaker 1: So it's a big it's about how do I get
- 7:55Speaker 1: up the nerve to do that? And then you certainly
- 7:58Speaker 1: want to help welcome them, and that is our biggest goal.
- 8:03Speaker 4: I feel like I think from day one, whenever Kristen
- 8:05Speaker 4: and I met, I said, you know, my goal is
- 8:09Speaker 4: once a person makes.
- 8:10Speaker 1: That phone call, they've already they've already won a.
- 8:12Speaker 4: Battle, They've already beat one issue. Let's not have them
- 8:17Speaker 4: set and wait, because you know, things can change. Life
- 8:20Speaker 4: can change, situations change, and that need may not be
- 8:25Speaker 4: there anymore, or they may have found a different way
- 8:29Speaker 4: to fix that, and we want to be able to
- 8:32Speaker 4: help them as soon as possible.
- 8:35Speaker 1: That's really important that I know.
- 8:38Speaker 2: I mentioned the sports Spectacular coming up in August August
- 8:41Speaker 2: and twenty second.
- 8:42Speaker 6: If I correctly, on Saturday August twenty second.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Big plans for this year, yes, so yeah.
- 8:50Speaker 6: It's it is the twenty fifth year, so we want
- 8:52Speaker 6: to go big this year. We are excited to announce
- 8:56Speaker 6: our speaker. Our keynote speaker this year is coach Matt
- 8:59Speaker 6: Hennessey oh Man. Yes, so be a new head football
- 9:03Speaker 6: coach for the Bartosol Bruins.
- 9:05Speaker 2: So.
- 9:07Speaker 3: He will be great.
- 9:08Speaker 6: He's a known statewide as a program builder, culture changer,
- 9:11Speaker 6: and as you know, we are looking for our first
- 9:14Speaker 6: winning season. Since twenty fifteen, so excited to hear from him,
- 9:19Speaker 6: see what he's planning to do, you know around culture
- 9:23Speaker 6: and accountability and.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Just doing the little things right and what he's doing
- 9:29Speaker 3: with our team. So I'm looking forward to the year.
- 9:32Speaker 2: But of course there's great things to bid on, all
- 9:36Speaker 2: kinds of sports, memorabilia, tickets and all kinds of things.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Yeah, we are.
- 9:42Speaker 4: We have been neck deep all working on getting with
- 9:46Speaker 4: getting with donors and folks to really make sure that
- 9:49Speaker 4: we are able to bring our best this year for
- 9:52Speaker 4: for auction items have.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Some great things both live and silent auctions.
- 9:55Speaker 6: So some great items sports tickets and signed memorabilia, condo stays.
- 10:06Speaker 3: Different things like that.
- 10:07Speaker 6: So local community always comes out and represents their businesses
- 10:11Speaker 6: and donations.
- 10:12Speaker 3: And we appreciate that.
- 10:13Speaker 6: So we also have cash bar Raffle, dessert Dash and
- 10:19Speaker 6: then of course Thinks Barbecue doing the catered dinner as well.
- 10:22Speaker 1: So awesome. Yeah, yes, and it's where is it this
- 10:26Speaker 1: year's good?
- 10:28Speaker 6: It is at the Hilton Garden End, Yes, downtown Bartlesville,
- 10:31Speaker 6: six o'clock pm PM.
- 10:33Speaker 1: And how do you get tickets?
- 10:35Speaker 4: They can go to our website Samaritanbartlesville dot org. Or
- 10:39Speaker 4: just hop on our Facebook Samaritan Bartlesville and there's a
- 10:43Speaker 4: link that will take them directly there, or if they
- 10:45Speaker 4: want to go to the old fashioned away and just
- 10:47Speaker 4: give us a call nine one eight three three six three.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Awesome.
- 10:51Speaker 2: The website, it's a great resource. I checked it out
- 10:54Speaker 2: this morning. It's got all kinds of information about the
- 10:57Speaker 2: services you provide, the history of the organization, and how
- 11:01Speaker 2: to access the different services that you do offer people.
- 11:05Speaker 4: Yeah, we're and we're so proud of our website. We
- 11:08Speaker 4: did a full revamp. I guess it was late last
- 11:12Speaker 4: year and it went we went from ninety.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Five six so that it was just like that.
- 11:23Speaker 3: It was a great a great addition to the center.
- 11:26Speaker 1: So awesome, and yeah, we did.
- 11:30Speaker 2: I want to talk a little bit about the car
- 11:32Speaker 2: business stuff. We got a finished up June really strong.
- 11:36Speaker 2: We're up one hundred and forty over one hundred and
- 11:38Speaker 2: forty percent of last year half way through the year
- 11:41Speaker 2: this year. Great, great results at the company. We still
- 11:45Speaker 2: are Toyota business. Supply and demand. It's kind of an issue.
- 11:51Speaker 2: It's a good problem to have when there's higher demand
- 11:53Speaker 2: than you have supply. We're turning over ninety percent of
- 11:57Speaker 2: our vehicles every month year to date, so they just
- 12:00Speaker 2: keep selling like crazy. We got a new allocation yesterday
- 12:05Speaker 2: and those that will be rolling out over in the
- 12:08Speaker 2: next probably forty eight hours. We'll get more detail on them.
- 12:11Speaker 2: We know what models they'll be now, but then we
- 12:14Speaker 2: get it gets narrowed down to the color and term
- 12:16Speaker 2: level of options in the next forty eight hours or so.
- 12:21Speaker 2: You know. I think a lot of what's going on
- 12:23Speaker 2: with toyotas comes down to the kind of.
- 12:26Speaker 1: The powertrain choices that we have, hybrid.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Vehicles, the conditional traditional internal combustion engines, even electric vehicles,
- 12:36Speaker 2: and we've got them all. You know, we're seeing more
- 12:39Speaker 2: and more people interested in in the fuel economy that
- 12:43Speaker 2: the hybrids can provide. You know, great, you know, mainstay
- 12:47Speaker 2: vehicles like the camera get over fifty miles to the
- 12:50Speaker 2: gallon and that's really a great, great, great way.
- 12:55Speaker 1: To save money.
- 12:56Speaker 2: The other thing about toyotas is because of their great
- 13:00Speaker 2: residual value, the way they retain their value, they just
- 13:04Speaker 2: don't lose value very quickly, and that gives you some advantages,
- 13:10Speaker 2: you know, whether you're just trading it in or if
- 13:13Speaker 2: you're looking to lease.
- 13:15Speaker 1: We do an analysis every month on.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Different options, and on one of the tacomas I looked
- 13:24Speaker 2: at yesterday, in the first thirty six months, for three
- 13:27Speaker 2: years on the lease, you can save over three hundred
- 13:30Speaker 2: and fifty two dollars a month. It's about half of
- 13:33Speaker 2: the price of a retail sixty month purchase of the vehicle.
- 13:38Speaker 1: I have four point nine.
- 13:39Speaker 2: Percent, So it's really comparing apples to apples with the
- 13:43Speaker 2: same amount of money cash up front, right, and the
- 13:48Speaker 2: payment on the lease is just three hundred and fifty
- 13:51Speaker 2: eight dollars a month for and.
- 13:53Speaker 1: So at seven hundred and ten on.
- 13:54Speaker 2: A sixty month loan at four point nine to nine percent,
- 13:57Speaker 2: so it saves you about twelve thousand, six hundred dollars
- 14:01Speaker 2: in that three year period. And you know, we don't
- 14:04Speaker 2: lease a lot of vehicles around this part of the world,
- 14:07Speaker 2: but it is something to consider.
- 14:09Speaker 1: We see a lot of people.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Obviously in today's world, the cost of everything has risen
- 14:16Speaker 2: and with it's just you know, people are looking for
- 14:20Speaker 2: great value and we try to provide that with our
- 14:24Speaker 2: simple price, keeping everything straightforward. Don't play a lot of
- 14:29Speaker 2: show games in the purchase process. Noncommissioned sales team, no documentation, fees,
- 14:35Speaker 2: no dealer add ons. Very try to make it as
- 14:40Speaker 2: just straightforward as possible and give everybody a great deal.
- 14:44Speaker 2: You know, over ninety seven years now we've been selling
- 14:48Speaker 2: cars in Oklahoma, so it's a great legacy. And really
- 14:53Speaker 2: stick to that small business, family owned and operated kind
- 14:57Speaker 2: of value centered approach to selling cars and supporting the community.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Things like the baseball.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Team that done just Toyota Indians and the kind of
- 15:08Speaker 2: kind of he used to saying Toyota.
- 15:10Speaker 1: So after after all those years, they were eighty years
- 15:14Speaker 1: it was.
- 15:15Speaker 2: A Ford sponsorship, but now it's Toyota, so that's all
- 15:19Speaker 2: the same to me. A great baseball team, and being
- 15:22Speaker 2: down there last night was so great, Tom.
- 15:25Speaker 1: It was a lot of fun. It was a lot
- 15:27Speaker 1: of fun. There was a great crowd there always.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Is for the k W N Knight at the Mall
- 15:31Speaker 2: Park with with the give away Kevin, you give away
- 15:35Speaker 2: some of Kevin's money, and you know, he he was
- 15:39Speaker 2: some of those I'm not sure every ticket got got
- 15:42Speaker 2: their money, but a lot of people did.
- 15:44Speaker 1: I sure did. And lots of runs scored so he
- 15:47Speaker 1: probably had to had to pay out a lot. So
- 15:51Speaker 1: that's always good.
- 15:53Speaker 2: But I do want to thank Kevin, I mean his
- 15:55Speaker 2: you know that I was talking to him last night
- 15:57Speaker 2: about the unique nature of the broadcasting those games and
- 16:02Speaker 2: you know, they really the focus on the team and
- 16:05Speaker 2: our community, the great stadium, you know, but just the
- 16:10Speaker 2: fact that they are on the radio for every game
- 16:13Speaker 2: of the year now since Kevin got here over thirty years.
- 16:18Speaker 1: And no other team and no anywhere has that. I don't,
- 16:23Speaker 1: you know, they just don't have that.
- 16:25Speaker 2: And you know, they have great teams, and their family
- 16:28Speaker 2: support them and every and they have a following. But
- 16:32Speaker 2: Bartlesville is unique in so many ways and that's just
- 16:36Speaker 2: another one that I think we should all be proud of,
- 16:39Speaker 2: and we certainly are done just that. You know, that
- 16:42Speaker 2: eighty six year sponsorship is a big deal to us,
- 16:47Speaker 2: and they've been recognized by the Guinness Records is the
- 16:51Speaker 2: longest corporate sponsor of a sports team in the world.
- 16:54Speaker 2: So pretty cool, I think, like to get that out.
- 16:59Speaker 2: So back to the the Samaritan approach to counseling and growth.
- 17:07Speaker 2: You know, this is a use it, like we talked
- 17:09Speaker 2: about over fifty years in Bartlesville.
- 17:13Speaker 1: The you know, it.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Started because there were needs and you know what, where's
- 17:21Speaker 2: that what what do you need today? What is the
- 17:23Speaker 2: what's the next your next vision? I mean, you know
- 17:27Speaker 2: you're you've been doing this a couple of years in
- 17:30Speaker 2: Bartlesville now, but uh, what do you where do you
- 17:32Speaker 2: see this way?
- 17:33Speaker 1: I've got hopes and dreams for but I mean, you
- 17:37Speaker 1: know what you do for a little bit, yeah, without
- 17:40Speaker 1: you know that being called to it absolutely.
- 17:43Speaker 4: I mean this is this is my twenty third year
- 17:47Speaker 4: in nonprofit, which I still can't believe. But I think
- 17:54Speaker 4: the biggest thing for us is just support from our community.
- 17:58Speaker 4: You know, if you've got a friend, their family member
- 18:00Speaker 4: that's going through a situation, just to have them give
- 18:04Speaker 4: us a call.
- 18:04Speaker 1: We would love to be able to help them in
- 18:05Speaker 1: any way.
- 18:06Speaker 2: You know.
- 18:07Speaker 4: One of the biggest things for us. Like I said,
- 18:08Speaker 4: we're grateful that we're a partner with the United Way
- 18:12Speaker 4: and other organizations in the community that have been.
- 18:17Speaker 1: A constance with it with financial gifts throughout the years.
- 18:23Speaker 4: We really pride ourselves on being able to kind of
- 18:26Speaker 4: be that organization that meets those folks who kind of
- 18:29Speaker 4: get stuck in the middle.
- 18:30Speaker 1: They don't qualify for state for state assistants.
- 18:33Speaker 4: But they don't they don't may not have public or
- 18:38Speaker 4: private health insurance through their employer or who just can't
- 18:40Speaker 4: afford it. And so we really want to be that
- 18:42Speaker 4: organization that folks can come to and say, you know,
- 18:45Speaker 4: I don't have I can't afford this, what how can
- 18:50Speaker 4: you help? And we don't We don't ever want to
- 18:53Speaker 4: turn away somebody because of their inability to pigh. We
- 18:56Speaker 4: want to be able to provide that support to folks
- 18:58Speaker 4: anyway possible. So so for us in order to be
- 19:02Speaker 4: able to continue to do that, that's why we do
- 19:04Speaker 4: the Sports Spectacular. That's why we're very very up with,
- 19:09Speaker 4: you know, asking for donors, reoccurring monthly donors. If if
- 19:14Speaker 4: folks have money at the end of the year and
- 19:16Speaker 4: don't know where to turn, they can give us a
- 19:19Speaker 4: call and.
- 19:19Speaker 2: We would we would access seeing insurance programs and other
- 19:24Speaker 2: things they can help with that because you definitely need
- 19:26Speaker 2: to have some expertise.
- 19:28Speaker 1: In that in today's world. And we're again, you know,
- 19:32Speaker 1: we're we're grateful for our community.
- 19:34Speaker 4: We are the preferred provider, preferred EAP provider for Chronicle
- 19:40Speaker 4: Phillips at sixty six and several.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Other larger corporations here in Bortlesville.
- 19:45Speaker 4: So We're grateful for that, that partnership, which also brings
- 19:50Speaker 4: in other folks. You know, maybe that person's going through something,
- 19:54Speaker 4: but their kids, their kiddo's dealing with some situations, some
- 19:57Speaker 4: stuff too, you know.
- 19:58Speaker 1: They just it's just kind of.
- 20:00Speaker 4: Like a domino, a domino effect for us, and we're
- 20:04Speaker 4: glad to be.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Able to help it. How did you get involved, Kristin'
- 20:08Speaker 1: what's that gosh?
- 20:10Speaker 3: I got involved back in twenty seventeen on the board.
- 20:15Speaker 6: Was on the board of directors for about six years
- 20:17Speaker 6: and the executive director left kind of had some turnover there,
- 20:22Speaker 6: and so I stepped in as the interim executive director
- 20:26Speaker 6: and wanted to find the best person for that role.
- 20:30Speaker 6: And of course I went to Ben because I know
- 20:33Speaker 6: he's going to be the perfect person, so try to
- 20:35Speaker 6: get him on board. And we're so glad that that
- 20:38Speaker 6: he said yes, So then I stepped back onto the board.
- 20:42Speaker 6: So love volunteering for the community and doing the fundraising.
- 20:48Speaker 3: Things, So.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Thank you for that.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Organizations like Samaritan just can't do without their volunteer boards, sponsors.
- 20:58Speaker 1: And I am. We are so grateful for our board.
- 21:02Speaker 4: We have a phenomenal board. They're incredibly active it's one
- 21:07Speaker 4: of those things I make a phone call and it's
- 21:09Speaker 4: when do you need it?
- 21:10Speaker 1: And how soon?
- 21:12Speaker 4: It's not a well let me see, it's it's always
- 21:15Speaker 4: taken care of. So we're we're grateful for them.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Well, great deal, and again let's promote the.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Sports Spectaculator coming up August twenty second. Got a great
- 21:27Speaker 2: dinner from Drinks. We've got some great prizes items. Yes,
- 21:33Speaker 2: we've purchased an auction.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Yes, any anything what's going to be in the live auction.
- 21:39Speaker 6: So we have a couple of dinners, dinners that are
- 21:44Speaker 6: you know, given away, whether that be a cooking class.
- 21:46Speaker 6: Tray County Tech usually does a great job with those.
- 21:50Speaker 3: People love that.
- 21:51Speaker 6: Being barbecue is also doing something in the live option.
- 21:56Speaker 6: And then we have some sports tickets paired with signed memorabilia, so.
- 22:01Speaker 3: Those always go great.
- 22:03Speaker 6: People love to bid back and forth on those. And
- 22:05Speaker 6: then of course John Lon Bloom always does a painting
- 22:08Speaker 6: for us. We look forward to seeing what he does.
- 22:10Speaker 6: So talented, so he is doing it for it, yes, yes,
- 22:15Speaker 6: and probably Bruins this year.
- 22:17Speaker 5: We'll see with the weaker So yes, met Tennessee and yeah,
- 22:21Speaker 5: we had him on the radio show a few weeks
- 22:22Speaker 5: ago and he was he was a great you know,
- 22:25Speaker 5: and I you know, there's no telling if you know
- 22:29Speaker 5: what the record will be.
- 22:30Speaker 1: This year, but you can tell he's really doing it
- 22:33Speaker 1: right in his development of the team and creating the culture.
- 22:38Speaker 1: And you know that.
- 22:41Speaker 2: You know just what it takes for a team to
- 22:44Speaker 2: succeed and to have a chance, and you know it
- 22:48Speaker 2: is it's so competitive in today's world, and it is.
- 22:52Speaker 4: And we're excited to hear him speak. He when we
- 22:54Speaker 4: met with him a couple of weeks ago, just to
- 22:56Speaker 4: kind of iron out some final details, we gave him
- 23:00Speaker 4: some I d or some suggestions and he was like, nope,
- 23:04Speaker 4: I figured out he's he's he's excited to be a
- 23:09Speaker 4: part of that. And uh, just to kind of sure
- 23:11Speaker 4: what he's doing with the team and how he's taken
- 23:13Speaker 4: care of the team as a whole, not just not
- 23:17Speaker 4: just the players and not just playing ball. It's how
- 23:21Speaker 4: are they taking care of themselves physically and.
- 23:26Speaker 2: Athletes from other sports, right, And you know, it's really
- 23:30Speaker 2: an inclusive approach and a culture approach to to playing
- 23:35Speaker 2: a sport. And that's I think all of us who
- 23:38Speaker 2: played sports get that. That's what it's it is really
- 23:41Speaker 2: all about and you know in today's world that you
- 23:44Speaker 2: know kind of we're rallying around the team USA or
- 23:47Speaker 2: the Indians and it's a it's one of those things
- 23:52Speaker 2: that drugs draw us all together and you know from
- 23:56Speaker 2: all walks of life and every everything just kind of
- 23:59Speaker 2: comes to gather when that when that that you're wearing
- 24:02Speaker 2: that emblem and right, so it makes you proud, but
- 24:06Speaker 2: also there's some responsibility that comes with a lot of
- 24:09Speaker 2: life lessons that can happen but probably are you know,
- 24:14Speaker 2: you guys do a similar thing and helping people, you know,
- 24:18Speaker 2: when they are in that that moment of in their
- 24:20Speaker 2: life of you know, whatever it is. And you know
- 24:24Speaker 2: that I think, as you know, there might have been
- 24:28Speaker 2: a time when that kind of need there might have
- 24:31Speaker 2: been some kind of stigma with it, and you know,
- 24:34Speaker 2: and but I think you know, we're getting hopefully.
- 24:37Speaker 6: Getting it's improved for sure, and it helps to talk
- 24:40Speaker 6: about it. And that's partly what we try to do
- 24:43Speaker 6: with this event. Make it fun sports related, but again
- 24:47Speaker 6: same with the keynote speaker right tying in how athletics
- 24:52Speaker 6: it does pertain to mental health and maybe what some
- 24:55Speaker 6: of those athletes are going through and how we can
- 24:57Speaker 6: as a community help out.
- 25:00Speaker 2: So you know, I mentioned I had referred employees to
- 25:03Speaker 2: your program before, and then you know, it happens in life,
- 25:06Speaker 2: you know, whatever it is, whether it's depression or you know,
- 25:10Speaker 2: some kind of event or or addiction.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Things like that just happened.
- 25:16Speaker 2: And people a lot of times, you know, obviously they
- 25:19Speaker 2: didn't wish that upon themselves, and it's a you know,
- 25:23Speaker 2: you're in that moment in need, you do need, it's
- 25:26Speaker 2: good or you need and it is good to have
- 25:28Speaker 2: that support and that that that way to kind of
- 25:32Speaker 2: help you get a plan and start building back towards
- 25:37Speaker 2: towards uh, you know where you want to be, right exactly.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Well, thank you guys for coming in.
- 25:44Speaker 2: If you if those that are out there listening, you do,
- 25:47Speaker 2: get your tickets for the Sports Spectacular. Or if you
- 25:51Speaker 2: are someone who has knows someone in need, tell them
- 25:54Speaker 2: to give Ben and and the team out at Samariton
- 25:58Speaker 2: or call or come by and just explore what the
- 26:02Speaker 2: options are there. They'll help you navigate that process.
- 26:06Speaker 1: If we can help with a car purchase, obviously, come
- 26:09Speaker 1: talk to us. We've got a lot of stuff going
- 26:12Speaker 1: on for July. We'll be very busy again trying to
- 26:17Speaker 1: sell all the new toyotas.
- 26:18Speaker 2: That's pretty much what we have to do to keep
- 26:20Speaker 2: up this great sales growth we've been going on this year.
- 26:24Speaker 1: You'll mention the United Way.
- 26:26Speaker 2: Next week, I'm going to have Lisa Carrey come in
- 26:28Speaker 2: and be our guest on the show, So those of
- 26:31Speaker 2: you who we want to hear from her, be sure
- 26:33Speaker 2: to listen back in next Thursday at nine thirty. And well,
- 26:38Speaker 2: you know, if anyone out there ever has an idea
- 26:40Speaker 2: for a good show or something they want to talk about,
- 26:43Speaker 2: you know, that's I love just you know, talk about
- 26:46Speaker 2: stuff going on in the community, big things, small things,
- 26:50Speaker 2: things people are passionate about, or really really what it's
- 26:53Speaker 2: all about. That's that that goes back all the way
- 26:56Speaker 2: through the Dundas organization to the very very beginning when
- 27:01Speaker 2: my grandfather got in the car business. His father had
- 27:05Speaker 2: passed away and they moved from one small town in
- 27:08Speaker 2: Oklahoma to another, and he went to work at a
- 27:11Speaker 2: Ford dealership there, and the community county rally around them.
- 27:15Speaker 1: And helped them get going.
- 27:17Speaker 2: He went on to college, came back, and he and
- 27:19Speaker 2: his brother bought that dealership in nineteen twenty nine, and
- 27:23Speaker 2: that's that's how it got started.
- 27:25Speaker 1: So it's a great story and it's really you know,
- 27:29Speaker 1: one of those things that I.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Know has been recreated in our world, you know, many times,
- 27:36Speaker 2: and you know, but it's something to celebrate in our community.
- 27:44Speaker 1: Well thanks again for coming in. Happy July. Forth every
- 27:48Speaker 1: we will be closed, you know, kind of odd for
- 27:52Speaker 1: a car dealer, but we're going to.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Be closed tomorrow and Saturday, so our teams can go
- 27:56Speaker 2: celebrate and have time with their families and you know,
- 28:00Speaker 2: do that doesn't mean we don't want your business, so
- 28:03Speaker 2: come on in today or come back this week.
- 28:06Speaker 1: But I know our team is very excited to have
- 28:09Speaker 1: a long weekend.
- 28:10Speaker 2: That's that is unique in the car business, and I
- 28:14Speaker 2: thought it was an opportunity to do that and help them,
- 28:17Speaker 2: you know, just.
- 28:18Speaker 1: Enjoy your balance in life, you know, and celebrate the
- 28:23Speaker 1: July fourth, and you know what it all means.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Back to the talk at the beginning, when we talked
- 28:30Speaker 2: about the Declaration of Independence and how you know this
- 28:35Speaker 2: is now two hundred and fifty years old, in that
- 28:37Speaker 2: dream and you know it's not a perfect thing in
- 28:40Speaker 2: our country, but it is always an aspiration of ours
- 28:44Speaker 2: to always get better.
- 28:45Speaker 1: And that's that's what you guys do. And our osholl
- 28:50Speaker 1: is all about Brad. Where can we find you after
- 28:52Speaker 1: the holidays.
- 28:53Speaker 2: We're today, and we're today and at nineteen eleven Southeast
- 28:57Speaker 2: Washington Boulevart and I'll be back there in a few
- 29:00Speaker 2: it's and my office is on the showroom.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Come talk to me, and where you can check us out.
- 29:05Speaker 2: We'll be online even throughout the holiday at Dungeustoyota dot com.
- 29:11Speaker 1: There you can work your deal and handle most everything.
- 29:15Speaker 1: All right, folks, you've been watching Anathy to Car Talk
