Latest / OneLegUpAlex Media / Terminello's Take Featuring Thanksgiving Day Football Memories Mixed With Giants and Jets Implosion Reaction 11-26-24

- 0:00Speaker 1: And here's your host, Alex Garret. Well, it's been a
- 0:08Speaker 1: little while, but Terminello's take is back, and uh, I'm
- 0:12Speaker 1: going to refer to the link I'm gonna post my
- 0:14Speaker 1: description below about the Gettleman era has finally crashed and burned. Now,
- 0:20Speaker 1: I'm not saying Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley were bad
- 0:24Speaker 1: picks necessarily. I just think Gettleman didn't do anything to
- 0:27Speaker 1: help around him and really saddle the Giants with this
- 0:31Speaker 1: mess that ends in not only Daniel Jones being released low,
- 0:36Speaker 1: but then Zaikuon Barkley two days later making history as
- 0:39Speaker 1: an Eagle. I mean, the Gettleman era mess may be
- 0:43Speaker 1: finally over, But what's your take on all this? What
- 0:45Speaker 1: a tail of two cities.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Here, Alex, thank you for having me as always, I mean,
- 0:53Speaker 2: let's look at it in two stages. Barkley obviously has
- 0:59Speaker 2: been in a amazing pickup for a contending Super Bowl team,
- 1:05Speaker 2: the Philadelphia Eagles. You gotta remember last year the Eagles
- 1:08Speaker 2: started ten and one and they did collapse after that,
- 1:12Speaker 2: and that that was a mystery. Why they? Why they?
- 1:15Speaker 2: Why they collapsed? Now they've won seven in a row.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Barkley's playing behind probably the best or second best offensive
- 1:23Speaker 2: line in the league. Detroit's also up there. Baltimore has
- 1:26Speaker 2: a strong offensive line. But uh, and he's rejuvenated. I mean,
- 1:33Speaker 2: he's not getting hit at the line of scrimmage. You
- 1:36Speaker 2: look at the seventy two and seventy yard runs, the
- 1:38Speaker 2: two touchdown runs in the second half that he had
- 1:41Speaker 2: the other night, Alex he wasn't touched at all by
- 1:45Speaker 2: the Rams defense. So he's he's a great pickup for
- 1:52Speaker 2: a contending team. If he was on the Giants, I
- 1:55Speaker 2: don't know if it made a difference. You want to
- 1:58Speaker 2: talk about Gettleman, Getleman. I have never drafted them number two.
- 2:01Speaker 2: I'm not saying that that Barkley wasn't worthy to be
- 2:05Speaker 2: drafted number two, but the Giants didn't need him. If
- 2:08Speaker 2: the Giants were a contending team and I gotten the
- 2:10Speaker 2: number two pick through a trade and they were a contender,
- 2:16Speaker 2: that's different. You never drafted you never drafted running back
- 2:21Speaker 2: that high. And remember that that that did bite the
- 2:25Speaker 2: Giants in the butt. And you know, he's a great player,
- 2:29Speaker 2: and now he's in a great situation. As far as
- 2:32Speaker 2: Daniel Jones goes, we said it, he's a talented guy.
- 2:35Speaker 2: I don't think he was a number six overall pick
- 2:39Speaker 2: in the draft. I don't think he deserved to be,
- 2:42Speaker 2: but you know, he he has talent. Now can he
- 2:48Speaker 2: go somewhere? And I assume as we film, as we
- 2:52Speaker 2: record this on Tuesday at about two fifteen, I'm sure
- 2:56Speaker 2: he'll be picked up today or tomorrow. I'm sure he's
- 2:58Speaker 2: looking who who was interested in him. But it's time
- 3:03Speaker 2: to move on with Daniel Jones. I don't believe that
- 3:11Speaker 2: whoever he signs with this year will be his destination
- 3:15Speaker 2: long term. I'm sure it will be, you know, just
- 3:18Speaker 2: as a rental and then we'll see where he goes.
- 3:20Speaker 2: And as we said, there's not a lot of good
- 3:24Speaker 2: quarterbacks in this league. It's going to be very hard
- 3:27Speaker 2: for the Giants to find their next quarterback unless they
- 3:30Speaker 2: look into one in the draft. And apparently this is
- 3:32Speaker 2: not a draft of outstanding quarterbacks. But the Giants going
- 3:35Speaker 2: to be picking in the top five in all likelihood,
- 3:38Speaker 2: and as long as they play Tommy DeVito, they're not
- 3:40Speaker 2: going to win many games. And there is no doubt
- 3:43Speaker 2: in my mind that the Tommy DeVito starting assignment came
- 3:50Speaker 2: directly from John Marratt. Nobody's gonna convince me differently. Brian
- 3:55Speaker 2: Dabele and Joe Shane know that Tommy Devido doesn't give
- 4:01Speaker 2: the best chance to win. I'm not saying that that
- 4:03Speaker 2: Drew Locke is the best backup quarterback of all time,
- 4:06Speaker 2: but he's been in Tommy Devido and Tommy DeVito did
- 4:10Speaker 2: nothing the other day. There was no competitive Well.
- 4:12Speaker 1: He might be injured too. They're saying he has a
- 4:14Speaker 1: forearm situation. But let me ask you this. In my article,
- 4:17Speaker 1: I also wrote to give this dable dynamic. I think
- 4:20Speaker 1: you'd like that alliteration Dabel dynamic, which worked in twenty
- 4:24Speaker 1: twenty two. I mean, they got through the postseason but
- 4:26Speaker 1: the first time in a while, and got him Coach
- 4:28Speaker 1: of the Year. I'll stick with it for another year.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Am I wrong in that assessment?
- 4:32Speaker 2: Loop, Well, I think you're not wrong in that assessment.
- 4:39Speaker 2: You have to you can't keep changing and every coach
- 4:45Speaker 2: that John Mayer has selected. Remember everybody thinks that he
- 4:48Speaker 2: selected Tom Kauflan, No, his father did. But every coach
- 4:52Speaker 2: that he picked, from McAdoo to Joe Judge to Schumer
- 4:58Speaker 2: to Shermer, I mean that to stable he picked them
- 5:01Speaker 2: all and that's all in it since two thousand, you know,
- 5:04Speaker 2: twenty sixteen, seventeen, and I would say he's probably going
- 5:09Speaker 2: to bite the bullet. I assume that they'll both be
- 5:13Speaker 2: back Shane and Dable next year, but they're going to
- 5:18Speaker 2: be on a sizzling hot seat next year. But again,
- 5:21Speaker 2: they got to get a quarterback and Alex. I don't
- 5:23Speaker 2: know where they get a quarterback from all these teams
- 5:26Speaker 2: that have any quarterbacks next year unless they get lucky
- 5:30Speaker 2: in the draft. I mean, I like Shador Sanders, cam
- 5:35Speaker 2: Woyd apparently is has an NFL arm, but I don't
- 5:40Speaker 2: know where their long range success is going to be. So,
- 5:47Speaker 2: you know, so we'll see. The Giants are in a pickle,
- 5:50Speaker 2: as are you know, as as is the other team
- 5:52Speaker 2: across the hallway in Mattlife Stadium. They're both in the pickle,
- 5:56Speaker 2: different types of pickles, because the Jets have more talent
- 6:01Speaker 2: than the Giants, but the NFL is unforgiving.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Let's let's let's zoom out on the NFL right now,
- 6:08Speaker 1: because I look at Derek Henry who had another I
- 6:10Speaker 1: think another touchdowns, so he's been a weekly touchdowns for
- 6:13Speaker 1: the Ravens. And then I look at Saquon Barkley. It
- 6:16Speaker 1: just shows what a good O line can do when
- 6:20Speaker 1: you protect your running back. It gives them that talent back.
- 6:22Speaker 1: You know. I just feel like they have that bit
- 6:24Speaker 1: of a revival. And some say, well he was great
- 6:26Speaker 1: in Tennessee when don me my revival, Well he didn't
- 6:29Speaker 1: really get a lot of support, like you said in Baltimore.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Right, you're one hundred percent correct. And if you want
- 6:36Speaker 2: to go back to Saquon Barkley, the Eagles have a
- 6:40Speaker 2: great line and they're left tackle Jordan Malaca and they're
- 6:47Speaker 2: right tackle Lane Johnson. Uh, they're one two in in
- 6:54Speaker 2: Pro Football focuses analytic ratings, and Pro Football Focus is
- 6:59Speaker 2: pretty reliable and grading players. So there you go, right there.
- 7:03Speaker 2: They moved they signed Mackay Beckton, who was in his
- 7:07Speaker 2: second and third year was always injured, ate himself off
- 7:10Speaker 2: the Jets. They moved him to guard and he's playing
- 7:12Speaker 2: on this great line, which makes him look better. Yes,
- 7:17Speaker 2: you have to have the line, but also and Chris
- 7:20Speaker 2: Collinsworth broke this down beautifully the second the second long run,
- 7:25Speaker 2: the seventy yard run with about two and a half
- 7:27Speaker 2: minutes to go, he broke it down saying how everybody
- 7:31Speaker 2: thought that Jalen Hurts, he's a running quarterback, was going
- 7:35Speaker 2: to run right, and Hurt slipped the ball on the
- 7:38Speaker 2: handoff to Barkley, who went untouched seventy yards. So it's
- 7:43Speaker 2: a combination of a great line a quarterback that makes
- 7:46Speaker 2: the defense really have to think twice on any type
- 7:50Speaker 2: of run option, whether it's a run past option or
- 7:54Speaker 2: it's just the threat of the quarterback to run. So
- 7:59Speaker 2: he's in a perfect situation. Eagles have a great roster,
- 8:03Speaker 2: and I think they've calmed down all of the uh,
- 8:07Speaker 2: the angst that was going on in the City of
- 8:09Speaker 2: Brotherly Love.
- 8:10Speaker 1: And we know that definitely. I mean and he called,
- 8:12Speaker 1: he said the other night, you know, coming in with
- 8:14Speaker 1: a fresh start, I wasn't with that other mess of
- 8:17Speaker 1: the last couple of years. Like he was really spot
- 8:20Speaker 1: on with Scott Van Pelt on the ESPN, And I
- 8:22Speaker 1: just thought, this guy is very thankful to be in
- 8:26Speaker 1: Philly right now, and I think he's thankful to be
- 8:28Speaker 1: out of that mess of the Giants now. The other
- 8:31Speaker 1: thing about all of this loop is that I never
- 8:35Speaker 1: hated Saquan. You know this, I said, I'm not mad
- 8:37Speaker 1: him for leaving. I think he did what he had
- 8:39Speaker 1: to do. I'm actually happy he's thriving because we're just
- 8:42Speaker 1: seeing what a talent he is. And I'm just sorry
- 8:45Speaker 1: he was that Giants mess. I think I can say
- 8:47Speaker 1: that even though the Giants had Loop.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Well you shouldn't. I mean, obviously, I mean, the Giants
- 8:54Speaker 2: could have kept him. That's that's that's number one. Uh
- 8:58Speaker 2: they did, they did the right I think they did
- 9:01Speaker 2: the right thing. The mistake they made is when they
- 9:05Speaker 2: decided to give to give Jones all that money. And
- 9:09Speaker 2: I'm not saying that money should have gone to Berkley,
- 9:12Speaker 2: but you know, they you know they they are in
- 9:16Speaker 2: a league where it's hought to find a good quarterback.
- 9:18Speaker 2: He had a great playoff game against Minnesota and the
- 9:23Speaker 2: Giants that get that was the forty million dollar game,
- 9:26Speaker 2: There's no doubt about it. And now the Giants got
- 9:31Speaker 2: to look elsewhere for their you know, for their quarterback,
- 9:37Speaker 2: and it's going to be tough to find. But no,
- 9:40Speaker 2: I mean that's the way the NFL is in twenty
- 9:44Speaker 2: twenty four.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Absolutely, Well, we have a few minutes here. I gotta
- 9:49Speaker 1: ask you this because real quick, I see the Browns
- 9:54Speaker 1: are keeping Deshaun Watson. I don't know. I always think
- 9:57Speaker 1: the Browns are interesting franchise the way they're going around.
- 10:00Speaker 1: But they're keeping Stefanski, so he may not be on
- 10:03Speaker 1: the hot seat. Any NFL coaches that should be, I'm
- 10:06Speaker 1: thinking Everflush should be on the hot seat. I mean,
- 10:10Speaker 1: what's been going on around the league? Who else would
- 10:12Speaker 1: be your hot seat candidates?
- 10:14Speaker 2: Well, I'm a little surprised you said that that you
- 10:17Speaker 2: you just saw something that Stefanski, who I think is
- 10:21Speaker 2: a good coach, is on the hot seat because the
- 10:25Speaker 2: Browns are.
- 10:26Speaker 1: No, he's not on the hot seat.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Okay's all right, He's not on the hot seat. If
- 10:29Speaker 2: it was, I would believe he would be one of
- 10:32Speaker 2: my first choices to be a Jets coach. But who
- 10:37Speaker 2: else is gonna be in a hot seat? I think
- 10:39Speaker 2: Todd Bowles is going to be in a hot seat.
- 10:41Speaker 2: And I think everybody's saying that Bill Belichick is going
- 10:45Speaker 2: to go to Jacksonville or we go to Dallas. Tampa
- 10:50Speaker 2: Bay has a good team, they have good personnel, and
- 10:53Speaker 2: if they flame out, either don't make the playoffs and
- 10:57Speaker 2: they're only you know, they're only five and six now,
- 11:00Speaker 2: or they have a first round playoff disaster. I could
- 11:03Speaker 2: see Belichick going to Tampa. I mean that nobody's been
- 11:07Speaker 2: talking about that, but I think that's another potential destination.
- 11:11Speaker 2: He's not coming to the Jets, He's not coming to
- 11:13Speaker 2: the Giants. I could see maybe him going to Dallas.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Now, okay, so he goes to If he goes to Tampa,
- 11:21Speaker 1: let me ask you this, because Baker is a bit
- 11:23Speaker 1: of a spitfire. He does his own thing, much like
- 11:26Speaker 1: you know. I think that he was the Belichick was
- 11:29Speaker 1: dealing with that after the Brady era with Newton and
- 11:33Speaker 1: all that. Will Baker learn under Belichick? If that's the case,
- 11:37Speaker 1: I mean, would that be a good marriage there? Or Kyle?
- 11:40Speaker 2: I could tell you one thing where Belichick's gonna go.
- 11:43Speaker 2: He wants to have a good quarterback, and I think
- 11:45Speaker 2: that Baker Mayfield is one of the most After you
- 11:47Speaker 2: talk about the elite quarterbacks and we don't have to
- 11:49Speaker 2: name them, we know who they are. I think Baker
- 11:52Speaker 2: Mayfield is at the top of the next level. He
- 11:54Speaker 2: could quarterback my team any day. You can, if you
- 11:58Speaker 2: have a good roster, you can win a super Bowl
- 12:00Speaker 2: with Baker Mayfield. He's tough, he's competitive, he's not afraid. Yeah,
- 12:08Speaker 2: I don't think that. I don't think he really He'll learn.
- 12:11Speaker 2: You learn something from every coach. You learn something every
- 12:13Speaker 2: year that you're in the league, no matter what sport
- 12:16Speaker 2: you're playing. But I think that that would be a
- 12:20Speaker 2: good That would be a good, good quarterback coach matchup.
- 12:24Speaker 1: I do.
- 12:24Speaker 2: I think that would be a good match up.
- 12:26Speaker 1: All right, we mentioned a little while ago what the
- 12:29Speaker 1: Jets are dealing with with their interim coach. You know,
- 12:32Speaker 1: this whole Giants FIO has really gone under the radar.
- 12:36Speaker 1: What the Jets are going through. They fire Joe Douglas
- 12:39Speaker 1: and there's rumors swirling, which I guess Roger's trying to
- 12:42Speaker 1: shut down and he won't be back there. I mean,
- 12:45Speaker 1: the Jets are as much of a mess, but they're
- 12:47Speaker 1: not getting the highlights. What do they need to do
- 12:50Speaker 1: because the watchful eye is off them for a second,
- 12:54Speaker 1: But they are just as much of a mess.
- 12:56Speaker 2: Well, the watch lily is awesome for a second, but
- 12:58Speaker 2: they watch the life been on the most for the year.
- 13:01Speaker 2: And I'm obviously they're gonna have a new coach, They're
- 13:04Speaker 2: gonna have a new general manager, and I assume a
- 13:07Speaker 2: new coach, a new general manager is going to want
- 13:10Speaker 2: to develop their own quarterback. As Rogers said, I don't
- 13:15Speaker 2: know if I'm gonna play next year. I guess he
- 13:17Speaker 2: was on McAfee earlier. I didn't see it, but I
- 13:20Speaker 2: have to see how healthy I am. I got to
- 13:22Speaker 2: see what the new general manager and coaching staff looks like.
- 13:27Speaker 2: I don't think he'll be back. I mean, he's played hurt,
- 13:30Speaker 2: is no doubt about it. And the Jets have to
- 13:34Speaker 2: get the Jets have to get a good a good
- 13:37Speaker 2: coaching staff. And I really hope the next coach is
- 13:39Speaker 2: an offensive coach. I really do. And as much as
- 13:44Speaker 2: I would love to see former Jet a great Aaron
- 13:48Speaker 2: Glenn get the job because he's done a great job
- 13:51Speaker 2: with the Detroit defense, I want an offense. I want
- 13:54Speaker 2: an offensive coach. It's still an offensive league. It's maybe
- 13:58Speaker 2: taking a step back in the last year or as
- 14:00Speaker 2: an offensive league, basically because the quarterback play hasn't been
- 14:04Speaker 2: as good with the exception of the league quarterbacks in
- 14:08Speaker 2: the last couple of years, and the jetsman had the
- 14:10Speaker 2: same problem the Giants had. They're gonna have to find
- 14:14Speaker 2: a quarterback where they find it. I don't know. Is
- 14:18Speaker 2: Roger's better than probably some of the options. Probably, but
- 14:22Speaker 2: he's gonna be forty one years old with a new regime,
- 14:26Speaker 2: so he I mean, I doubt if he's back next year, Alex.
- 14:30Speaker 2: But the Jets do have a ridge quarterback in Tyrod Taylor.
- 14:34Speaker 1: He actually was another guy throwing into the bas situation
- 14:37Speaker 1: with the Giants. The way they handled that, I thought
- 14:39Speaker 1: he could have done so much more with Big Blue
- 14:41Speaker 1: last year. But anyway, I'm so glad you mentioned Detroit because, hey,
- 14:46Speaker 1: another exciting Thanksgiving. I mean, when the Lions are winning,
- 14:49Speaker 1: Thanksgiving has to be fun in Detroit. I know it's traditional,
- 14:53Speaker 1: matter what, but this team and Dan Campbell and by
- 14:56Speaker 1: the way, another under the radar success. Can we just
- 14:59Speaker 1: say that because they're they're in Michigan and they're doing
- 15:02Speaker 1: their own thing. Yeah, the highs are on them are
- 15:04Speaker 1: a little bit, but they're still under the radar for most.
- 15:07Speaker 1: If you're not, they're not on.
- 15:09Speaker 2: The radar anymore. They are for the first time in
- 15:12Speaker 2: their history. They go into they go into uh Thanksgiving
- 15:16Speaker 2: Day as the Super Bowl favorites and all the betting polos. Now,
- 15:20Speaker 2: I don't give a crap about the bet about Vegas
- 15:22Speaker 2: about the vet betting polish. But that's just something as
- 15:25Speaker 2: a point of reference.
- 15:27Speaker 1: But the point, But the point is and Fanatics is
- 15:30Speaker 1: obviously a sponsor of the one like up sports network here,
- 15:33Speaker 1: so I'm gonna promote this fanatic said, who is the
- 15:36Speaker 1: best UH number in Jersey? You remember the most of Thanksgiving?
- 15:41Speaker 1: I got to give it to Barry Sanders because every
- 15:44Speaker 1: time I turn on the TV on Thanksgiving, boom. He
- 15:47Speaker 1: was making those runs even as a kid. I remember that.
- 15:49Speaker 1: I'm sure you do too, lou Absolutely.
- 15:51Speaker 2: And that's that's a very good that's a very good
- 15:53Speaker 2: choice that you made.
- 15:55Speaker 1: And I just think that that energy is there every
- 15:59Speaker 1: year now out for the Lions. But what has gone?
- 16:02Speaker 1: And you'll find a link to a Barisanders Jersey by
- 16:05Speaker 1: the way, which I might make commission on if if
- 16:07Speaker 1: you so obliged to buy from my lank. Thanks Luke
- 16:10Speaker 1: for let me plug that in there during Terminelo's take.
- 16:13Speaker 1: But what makes this team stand out? Like? I think
- 16:16Speaker 1: Goff is an incredible QB. I just think they have
- 16:21Speaker 1: it going all together here, don't they Look?
- 16:24Speaker 2: They have number one, They have the coach quarterback combination,
- 16:28Speaker 2: which you have as we said a couple of minutes ago,
- 16:30Speaker 2: you have to have in the NFL. Dan Campbell is
- 16:34Speaker 2: a tough guy. He's a tough minded coach. They're a
- 16:36Speaker 2: physical team. The players will run through the wall for
- 16:39Speaker 2: Dan Campbell. You have that's that's number one. That's what
- 16:42Speaker 2: that's what you have to do. They have a great
- 16:44Speaker 2: offensive line. They suffered some injuries to to of their
- 16:48Speaker 2: best defensive players in Aiden Hutchinson and Alex alon as
- 16:52Speaker 2: A Loney, but he'll be well. Hutchinson won't be back
- 16:56Speaker 2: as a Loney will be back with the broken arm,
- 16:59Speaker 2: probably right as the playoffs began, and they'll get a
- 17:02Speaker 2: first round by which will which will help their injury situation.
- 17:08Speaker 2: And GoF who took the Rams to the super Bowl.
- 17:10Speaker 2: The media kind of poopoot him. The guy's outstanding. The
- 17:14Speaker 2: guy can make every throw. He stands in the pocket.
- 17:18Speaker 2: He has commanded the offense. Alex we might we might
- 17:23Speaker 2: in February, we might see that.
- 17:26Speaker 1: I think they also kind of sunk any kind of
- 17:28Speaker 1: playoff hopes for the night. Remember that comeback against San Francisco,
- 17:32Speaker 1: I mean the Lions come back a couple of weeks
- 17:34Speaker 1: ago on Tony Night Football is exemplary of the team
- 17:37Speaker 1: they are, Isn't it.
- 17:39Speaker 2: No doubt about it.
- 17:44Speaker 1: I think you see that. And on the AFC, can
- 17:46Speaker 1: I make a bold prediction here? I think it might
- 17:49Speaker 1: be Bills and Ravens in the AFC Championship. I'm gonna
- 17:52Speaker 1: say that here on November twenty sixth, because they just
- 17:55Speaker 1: look better than the Chiefs right now. Maybe you disagree,
- 17:58Speaker 1: but I think both teams have this kind of edge
- 18:01Speaker 1: over Kansas City. And I know the Bills beat them
- 18:03Speaker 1: just a couple of weeks ago in the regular season, but.
- 18:06Speaker 2: No, you're right, they've beat him in the regular season.
- 18:08Speaker 2: That to me, that doesn't mean that means something. I'm
- 18:11Speaker 2: not gonna say it means nothing. But you know, this
- 18:14Speaker 2: is how good the Chiefs have become. They're ten and
- 18:18Speaker 2: one and we're criticizing them or questioning them because they're
- 18:24Speaker 2: ten and one, But they've been in a ton of
- 18:27Speaker 2: close games and had to dig deep to pull it out. Well,
- 18:30Speaker 2: they dug deep to pull it out. That's an asset.
- 18:32Speaker 2: That's what makes them great. I'm not going against the Chiefs.
- 18:36Speaker 2: There's still to me, there's still number one on the
- 18:39Speaker 2: board until somebody knocks them out. I'm not going against
- 18:44Speaker 2: the multiple time Super Bowl champion. You know I'm not.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Well, I will give Mahomes this. He still makes that
- 18:53Speaker 1: side I throw sidearm throw when he needs to. It's
- 18:56Speaker 1: just I've never seen a QB work that sidearm so
- 18:59Speaker 1: perfectly in the right time. It's just incredible. The way
- 19:02Speaker 1: he's slots it in there every every week. It's just
- 19:05Speaker 1: it's something to gush over. I know Chris Collinsworth does
- 19:08Speaker 1: a lot, but I will too because I love that
- 19:10Speaker 1: side arm throw. It's just something I've never seen before
- 19:12Speaker 1: from a quarterback.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Well, the guy can do anything on a football field.
- 19:17Speaker 2: I mean, we've seen as well as anybody we've we've
- 19:19Speaker 2: ever seen. They don't have great offensive talent throughout this year,
- 19:24Speaker 2: but they don't lose and that that's the bottom line.
- 19:28Speaker 2: They're ten in one uh and uh, you know we'll see.
- 19:32Speaker 2: I mean, it's is it gonna be hard to win
- 19:34Speaker 2: three super Bowls in a row, No doubt, It's gonna
- 19:36Speaker 2: be really hard. And if it's not them, I don't
- 19:39Speaker 2: think it's gonna be the Ravens. I could be wrong.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Let's see how the rest of the season plays out.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Let's see where the Ravens are seated, and then we'll
- 19:48Speaker 2: we'll uh take another look at it. But I could tell you,
- 19:51Speaker 2: I could tell you one thing. Lamar Jackson has developed.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Gets even though he's been a two time MVP already,
- 19:58Speaker 2: he gets better and better. He has improved his throwing
- 20:01Speaker 2: motion and has become such a more accurate passer. And
- 20:06Speaker 2: you know, anytime it's third and short, whether on any
- 20:08Speaker 2: part of field and you got to get those couple
- 20:10Speaker 2: of yards or especially in a red zone, he's a
- 20:15Speaker 2: I mean, he's a weapon at that is scary. So
- 20:21Speaker 2: we'll see, it's gonna be a very interesting postseason.
- 20:26Speaker 1: It will be loose. By the way, it is Thanksgiving
- 20:28Speaker 1: and we can go into hockey next time because maybe
- 20:30Speaker 1: the Rangers will bounce back. But it is Thanksgiving week.
- 20:33Speaker 1: First of all, what does that mean to you? What
- 20:35Speaker 1: do you think before? And secondly, give me in the
- 20:38Speaker 1: next few minutes here your favorite Thanksgiving football memory.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Oh wow, Well, first of all, it's great that you know.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Thanksgiving holiday is great and we should all be grateful
- 20:50Speaker 2: that we had we live in the United States of America.
- 20:53Speaker 2: As we see what goes on around the world, the
- 20:56Speaker 2: United States America still is is the place to live.
- 21:00Speaker 2: And I think that's going to even get better in
- 21:03Speaker 2: the next in the next decade at least, I hope so.
- 21:07Speaker 2: And I mean, as far as great games I could remember,
- 21:13Speaker 2: I could remember a Dallas a Dallas Washington game and
- 21:18Speaker 2: Clint Longley, he came off the bench to rally Dallas
- 21:22Speaker 2: to a win. It was Clint Longley's fifteen minutes of fame.
- 21:26Speaker 2: That was again prompt my God. Probably about twenty five
- 21:30Speaker 2: thirty years ago. There was another game when the then
- 21:33Speaker 2: Saint Louis Cardinals actually played on on a Thanksgiving Day
- 21:41Speaker 2: and Bob Breesee threw six touchdown passes. Of course, the
- 21:45Speaker 2: leon Let game when he touched the football instead of
- 21:48Speaker 2: just letting it roll, where the Dolphins fell on the
- 21:51Speaker 2: football and won the game, that's memorable. Then there's the
- 21:56Speaker 2: memorable college game back in thanks Giving Day nineteen seventy one,
- 22:01Speaker 2: and the two great great football teams playing each other.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Both were in the Big Eight, which is now the
- 22:07Speaker 2: Big Twelve. Neither team is in that conference anymore. It
- 22:11Speaker 2: was Nebraska and Oklahoma and Nebraska with the great Johnny
- 22:15Speaker 2: Rodgers and the whole slew of great players on each
- 22:18Speaker 2: team on Oklahoma and Nebraska. Nebraska beat Oklahoma thirty five
- 22:23Speaker 2: to thirty one. That's probably that's the best college game
- 22:27Speaker 2: I saw on Thanksgiving Day. Then there's a day after Thanksgiving,
- 22:31Speaker 2: on Thanksgiving Friday, the famous flutey to Gerrod fell and
- 22:34Speaker 2: touchdown on the last play of the game down the
- 22:37Speaker 2: Orange Bowl to beat Miami and clinch what little doubt
- 22:42Speaker 2: there was that Doug Flutie was going to win the
- 22:44Speaker 2: Heisman Trophy that year for Boston College. So those are
- 22:48Speaker 2: a few that I remember off the top of my head.
- 22:51Speaker 2: And who knows what Thursday's gonna bring.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Well, those are great memories for me. I remember watching
- 22:56Speaker 1: football on no matter where it was, whether it was
- 22:58Speaker 1: out in the Hamptons of my grandma other and her
- 23:00Speaker 1: friends and my family, or in my own home and Queen's.
- 23:04Speaker 1: I mean, it's just it's a tradition you gather on
- 23:07Speaker 1: the TV, not only for family, but for football. I mean,
- 23:09Speaker 1: it's just it's part of the day. And we got
- 23:12Speaker 1: to get into the college football playoffs scene next week
- 23:14Speaker 1: when it's the final week of the year. Uh, we
- 23:17Speaker 1: got to get into this next week because Notre Dame
- 23:20Speaker 1: might be hosting a home game let's talk about that
- 23:22Speaker 1: next week, shall we.
- 23:23Speaker 2: I look forward to it, and I think Notre Dame
- 23:25Speaker 2: is going into the playoffs in good shape. I like
- 23:29Speaker 2: their team. I'm not gonna say they're gonna win the
- 23:31Speaker 2: national championship, but I think I think they have a
- 23:35Speaker 2: real chance.
- 23:36Speaker 1: But I'm gonna I'm gonna say thank you to you
- 23:38Speaker 1: because you said that Navy and Army were un defeated
- 23:41Speaker 1: going into there. That game against the Irish, the Irish
- 23:44Speaker 1: knocked off both undefeated seasons, and that's gotta be history too. Well.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Again, obviously, Army and Navy both are at disadvantage whist
- 23:52Speaker 2: they don't have an IL players and they don't have
- 23:55Speaker 2: transfer forward to players, but it's uh, what do I mean?
- 23:58Speaker 2: And Navy have done the share of been outstanding, So
- 24:01Speaker 2: we'll talk. We'll talk about that, looking forward to that
- 24:04Speaker 2: next week, Alex, as always, and you and your family
- 24:06Speaker 2: have the happiest you Gabby, your mom, your dad have
- 24:10Speaker 2: the happiest Thanksgiving. And I thank you again for always
- 24:14Speaker 2: having me on.
- 24:15Speaker 1: I'm thankful for you Low and for our friendship and
- 24:18Speaker 1: for Terminlo's take here on the wall the UP Network.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Happy Thanksgiving, Lou, Thank you Alex, happy Thanksgiving,
