- 0:38Speaker 1: What do you think We're all wrong? Once in a while,
- 0:40Speaker 1: anybody can make a mistake. Mistakes unacceptable here, Paul, I
- 0:44Speaker 1: am once in a while too. I nail the hell
- 0:46Speaker 1: out of mostly Well. You go to break and he goes,
- 0:47Speaker 1: I don't know why you make me so mad. And
- 0:50Speaker 1: then he texted me the next day, I've been thinking
- 0:52Speaker 1: about it. I love you and I hate you. That
- 0:55Speaker 1: fifteen second SoundBite by Andy encapsulates PFW. He agreed with Christian,
- 1:00Speaker 1: but I still found a way to get in an
- 1:02Speaker 1: argument about things. And I told him he used to
- 1:03Speaker 1: call me the likable jerk. I think it was worse
- 1:06Speaker 1: than that. Yeah, I think it was. What they'll do
- 1:08Speaker 1: is they'll do something innocuous in their posts, but then
- 1:10Speaker 1: their screen name will be fred I after your mother
- 1:13Speaker 1: or something like that. I follow fred I after your mother.
- 1:17Speaker 1: It's funny. So I love college football. He has no
- 1:19Speaker 1: interest in it. The reason why I don't get into
- 1:21Speaker 1: college football in the fall is because I have what's
- 1:23Speaker 1: called a girlfriend. And this is Patriot's Unfiltered fueled by Duncan.
- 1:34Speaker 1: All right, I'm still I'm still recovering from that rocket
- 1:38Speaker 1: shot that I was gonna lead with. It was a
- 1:41Speaker 1: crazy show, but that was an all time moment when
- 1:44Speaker 1: I've been here. I wish I could have been there
- 1:46Speaker 1: for that, because then I could have piped in and
- 1:48Speaker 1: been like, well, I guess that's why I'm single, because
- 1:49Speaker 1: I love college football. The team, team bar, team bar. Anyway,
- 1:54Speaker 1: it is Thursday here at Gillette Stadium, and it's a
- 1:57Speaker 1: full crew. It's Deuced, it's Tamara, it's Alex, it's Paul,
- 2:01Speaker 1: it's me, it's Matt and the booth and uh, I
- 2:03Speaker 1: think we're here. We're on TV. One of those days
- 2:06Speaker 1: that we're on TV and no one said anything, Yeah,
- 2:08Speaker 1: we're on TV. I wish I would have known I
- 2:10Speaker 1: would have and dressed. That's behavior. Your dressed. You're not dressed.
- 2:15Speaker 1: I mean she means dressed. Yeah, well that's blind last
- 2:20Speaker 1: week you to put your shoes and socks on. Yes, yes, yes,
- 2:26Speaker 1: it's radio all right, um, but yeah it's Cleveland week here.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Yeah right, Yeah. I feel good about this one. Fred.
- 2:34Speaker 1: I don't often feel confident, but I think patriots are going. Yeah.
- 2:37Speaker 1: We we got off the show and we were walking
- 2:39Speaker 1: back to our places of work yesterday after the show,
- 2:43Speaker 1: and you were like, I'm I'm sure about this. What
- 2:46Speaker 1: was your tagline? Get even in Cleveland? Get Even in Cleveland?
- 2:48Speaker 1: I know I burned it on the ten to watch,
- 2:50Speaker 1: but I thought that was a good little thing. And
- 2:51Speaker 1: I mean, you know, there's always like everybody's looking for
- 2:53Speaker 1: captions constantly, and like, you know, we need social media
- 2:56Speaker 1: captioned one. I like, so, hey, get back to three
- 3:00Speaker 1: and three and three. Well I already used it, so
- 3:02Speaker 1: they better not. Thinks is that your key to the
- 3:04Speaker 1: game too, Getting even? Yeah? No, no, it's just h
- 3:09Speaker 1: don't tell us, stop the run. Tell us what makes
- 3:12Speaker 1: you so certain? I don't know, I don't know. I
- 3:15Speaker 1: just have some confidence today. I feel like the Patriots
- 3:17Speaker 1: are playing well, and I think that. I think the
- 3:19Speaker 1: Browns like they got a good run team, but I
- 3:20Speaker 1: think they're one dimensional and I think based on when
- 3:23Speaker 1: we saw last week, I think they'll have a good
- 3:24Speaker 1: plan and kind of put the game on Brissette and
- 3:27Speaker 1: I don't think he's gonna be able to pull it out.
- 3:29Speaker 1: I mean, I don't think it's going to be a
- 3:30Speaker 1: walk in the park, but I think I'll pull away.
- 3:33Speaker 1: My thing about them is, isn't every team going to,
- 3:36Speaker 1: you know, trying to put it on Brissette and yet
- 3:38Speaker 1: they still average one hundred and niney yards. Patriots will
- 3:41Speaker 1: do it. They'll do it. Then. Yeah, they got they
- 3:43Speaker 1: got the pieces, they got the talent, they got the commitment.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Three and three. Let's well. I mean, you know, you
- 3:49Speaker 1: listen to Bill yesterday talking about the Browns, and it
- 3:53Speaker 1: is true. Browns have a lot of talent on that team.
- 3:56Speaker 1: They do. That's why they went out and got Watson.
- 4:00Speaker 1: It felt like they had a time that was ready
- 4:02Speaker 1: to contend for, you know, the AFC title. It makes sense. Yeah,
- 4:05Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure Garrett and Clowney have six injuries between
- 4:08Speaker 1: the two of them listed right now. So yeah, No,
- 4:12Speaker 1: important players didn't practice yesterday. I wouldn't worry both of them.
- 4:17Speaker 1: It was like shoulder bicep risk means Marylynck that's his alarm. Yeah,
- 4:21Speaker 1: alarm to say arm upper body. Joel Patonio, Jadevian Clowney
- 4:26Speaker 1: and Marii Cooper, Ronnie Harrison and Denzel Ward all didn't
- 4:29Speaker 1: practice Ship Chef Cleveland. Yeah, and it's gotten to the
- 4:33Speaker 1: point of j I even I laugh at it now
- 4:35Speaker 1: now it's as expected, good perfect nding up. Take these
- 4:38Speaker 1: while we can in the middle of the season. Um,
- 4:41Speaker 1: but I think they'll I think they'll play well. I
- 4:43Speaker 1: feel I feel confident. I don't know. I don't usually
- 4:45Speaker 1: I don't really found this drum. So we'll see what
- 4:48Speaker 1: it means. I think you're playing the role of Andy
- 4:50Speaker 1: actually Andy Hart, who actually was on the show yesterday.
- 4:53Speaker 1: But Andy used to do that, like whatever the last
- 4:57Speaker 1: return was. That's what he's based on. You know, go
- 5:00Speaker 1: to Tampa in the preseason, you have ten sacks. We're
- 5:02Speaker 1: gonna have the best we could go undefeated this year.
- 5:05Speaker 1: It's gonna be the best defense ever. You know, amazing
- 5:08Speaker 1: that that's exactly the game. It was a Tampa preseason game.
- 5:11Speaker 1: He declared he thought Gerardmeyo and Andre Carter were gonna
- 5:15Speaker 1: split the like the Defensive Player of the Year award. Wow. Yeah,
- 5:19Speaker 1: I'm surprised to learn this about Andy. That seems very
- 5:21Speaker 1: reaction because like they played like three series against the
- 5:24Speaker 1: Bucks and they had like five sacks and they were
- 5:26Speaker 1: all over the place. They're gonna blitch this year. They're
- 5:28Speaker 1: gonna do No, they didn't. I'm not even they send
- 5:31Speaker 1: it off of anything that outstanding. Like I thought they
- 5:32Speaker 1: were fine last week, but but I think so you're
- 5:35Speaker 1: not telling me that last week got you into this
- 5:38Speaker 1: great mood. And no, maybe a little bit with the defense,
- 5:41Speaker 1: maybe a little bit. But I think they're gonna play
- 5:43Speaker 1: even better this week. I think this week will be
- 5:45Speaker 1: a more you know, team effort. I think the offense
- 5:47Speaker 1: will will do more no matter who's I'm with you
- 5:49Speaker 1: when it comes to the defense. Yeah, I think that.
- 5:52Speaker 1: I think they're showing week by week that Steve Belichick
- 5:56Speaker 1: and Gerard Mayo were figuring out who they've got, who
- 5:59Speaker 1: can do what, who can do what well, and they're
- 6:01Speaker 1: putting guys in the position to succeed. They're coming up
- 6:04Speaker 1: with good game plans based on the opponent um, And
- 6:08Speaker 1: I'm optimistic about the defense. Yeah, I am too, especially
- 6:12Speaker 1: with Brissette, someone they know very well. I think that
- 6:14Speaker 1: the game plan they put together is going to be
- 6:16Speaker 1: something that's going to be able to contain as much
- 6:19Speaker 1: as much as they can the run game obviously, and
- 6:21Speaker 1: force them to, you know, throw the ball a little
- 6:23Speaker 1: bit more. And then I think on offense, I think
- 6:26Speaker 1: what I'm looking for is finishing in the red zone.
- 6:30Speaker 1: I don't I don't want seven field goals. Yeah, we're
- 6:32Speaker 1: gonna throw it at the red zone. That's like I mean,
- 6:34Speaker 1: I don't want seven field goals. You start to you
- 6:36Speaker 1: start to tap it down, and the question is, you know,
- 6:40Speaker 1: we're assuming Bailey's Appy is going to be the quarterback.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Will they be willing to take chances once they get
- 6:47Speaker 1: in the red zone? Well, I mean, or just give
- 6:49Speaker 1: it to Remandre let them well get some rushing touchdowns.
- 6:52Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, I just over the field goals, like obviously,
- 6:55Speaker 1: you know, I'd rather three over nothing. But that's the
- 7:00Speaker 1: thing about Cleveland that, you know, as good as their
- 7:03Speaker 1: running attack is, their running defense isn't that good. They're
- 7:06Speaker 1: giving up one one hundred and sixty yards a game
- 7:08Speaker 1: or something like that. You know what, if Ramandre is
- 7:11Speaker 1: like really the only threat they have to plant, I
- 7:13Speaker 1: don't know. I'll be interested to see how they handle
- 7:16Speaker 1: Ramandre when I mean, given what happens with Damien. Yeah,
- 7:20Speaker 1: the depth just really isn't there in the backfield. I
- 7:22Speaker 1: was just talking about that upstairs. I was like, Okay,
- 7:24Speaker 1: we're gonna see Pierre Strong or we gonna, you know,
- 7:26Speaker 1: maybe see Kevin Harris j J. Taylor, Like I wonder
- 7:29Speaker 1: what they are going to do so that, you know,
- 7:30Speaker 1: maybe there is another running back available. They'll have to
- 7:33Speaker 1: bring one up. Yeah, and Paul thinks it'll be J. J. Taylor,
- 7:37Speaker 1: probably because of his experience. But I wouldn't be surprised
- 7:40Speaker 1: to see either David Harris or Pierre Strong as as well.
- 7:44Speaker 1: You might even have two running backs. N Kevin Harris.
- 7:48Speaker 1: What did I say, David David David Harris for the Jets? Yeah, yeah,
- 7:52Speaker 1: or David Monk. I think he was here too for
- 7:55Speaker 1: wasn't he for a cup of a cup of coffee?
- 7:56Speaker 1: I don't think he ever made I remember that. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 8:01Speaker 1: somewhere A good player, a really good player for the Jets. Yeah,
- 8:05Speaker 1: Kevin Harris. I also thought it was interesting, outside of
- 8:08Speaker 1: um finishing in the red zone, the number one thing
- 8:11Speaker 1: when I talked to the receivers yesterday in the locker
- 8:13Speaker 1: room that they said there was a priority for this
- 8:15Speaker 1: week was ball security. And I'm like, you know, I
- 8:18Speaker 1: wish I could have gotten to talk to Nelson Aglor
- 8:20Speaker 1: about that. Oh hey, it's it's been. It's been a
- 8:24Speaker 1: little bit. Well in his case, it's as much it's
- 8:26Speaker 1: it's as much about catching the ball so that you
- 8:29Speaker 1: can't secure it, you know, Um yeah, um right, though,
- 8:33Speaker 1: I mean, because they've only had four takeaways and four turnovers,
- 8:37Speaker 1: I mean, turnovers don't really seem like they've had a
- 8:39Speaker 1: big impact on this team. It doesn't seem like they're
- 8:42Speaker 1: loose with the football, they don't really force turn well,
- 8:44Speaker 1: it's just that they haven't been able to overcome them,
- 8:46Speaker 1: you know, when they happened. When they happened last game
- 8:48Speaker 1: was pretty good. You know, we're talking about Cleveland. Oh, Cleveland. Oh,
- 8:52Speaker 1: I'm sorry. They haven't been a team that's taken the
- 8:54Speaker 1: ball away very so I'm just interesting that that's what
- 8:58Speaker 1: they and both of them said it like, and they
- 9:00Speaker 1: weren't even next to each other. When I asked them, like,
- 9:03Speaker 1: you know what their focus was, both of them said
- 9:04Speaker 1: ball security. And I guess it was because of the
- 9:07Speaker 1: point of emphasis with especially Bill Belichick talked about it,
- 9:10Speaker 1: with them being so fast on defense, I guess that
- 9:13Speaker 1: is what they're focusing on. Is ball security being the
- 9:16Speaker 1: most important thing Patriots are focusing because which I think
- 9:20Speaker 1: in me a curve you started. Yeah, Mike's point was
- 9:23Speaker 1: it's strange that they were talking so much about ball
- 9:26Speaker 1: security against a team that doesn't take the ball away well.
- 9:29Speaker 1: On Nelson's interception in particular, it wasn't even anyone taking
- 9:33Speaker 1: the ball away from him. It was just off his
- 9:35Speaker 1: hands and they caught the tips. So right, see, we
- 9:40Speaker 1: can't do that anymore. Run tv A you can m Yeah, careful,
- 9:46Speaker 1: Michael Well, I think I think that you know, until
- 9:50Speaker 1: you know, until the Patriots can prove, you know, over
- 9:53Speaker 1: a stretch of time that you know, they're taking care
- 9:56Speaker 1: of the ball, I think that has to be the
- 9:57Speaker 1: message every week to them, you know. Yeah, I think
- 10:00Speaker 1: in some way that they've been. I mean that last
- 10:02Speaker 1: one Igalore had was was you know that that the fumble.
- 10:06Speaker 1: I mean, he's just he's had a couple of plays,
- 10:07Speaker 1: and I mean, I said yesterday, it just bugs you
- 10:09Speaker 1: that he got a young quarterback. You know, guys need
- 10:11Speaker 1: to step up, and you're just not making plays for
- 10:13Speaker 1: your rookie quarterback and you're putting him in a bad place.
- 10:15Speaker 1: I think that's uh, that's what's what's tough. But interesting
- 10:19Speaker 1: point of emphasis though, and it just makes me wonder.
- 10:22Speaker 1: You know, JJ Taylor last year, this was his last game.
- 10:25Speaker 1: I know, he's been a guy with ball security things.
- 10:27Speaker 1: And another thing I thought too was I think mack
- 10:29Speaker 1: Wilson forced the fumble last year, right, what didn't he
- 10:31Speaker 1: force a fumble on the Patriots last year? Here? I
- 10:34Speaker 1: think maybe perhaps he was involved a lot. Really he
- 10:37Speaker 1: played he's one of the few players that's out just
- 10:40Speaker 1: that is. But I know, sorry, um, but you know,
- 10:43Speaker 1: I just interesting it's it's largely the same defense that
- 10:47Speaker 1: they had last year. Paul mentioned Ward. I mean, he's
- 10:49Speaker 1: kind of had it down here. I mean, looking at
- 10:52Speaker 1: you know, some of his his stats over the last
- 10:54Speaker 1: few years, he's been really good and he's been one
- 10:56Speaker 1: of the guys that that just hasn't really been playing
- 10:58Speaker 1: up the part for them right now, Well, the Patriots
- 10:59Speaker 1: had their first participation report yesterday we mentioned a lot
- 11:04Speaker 1: of Browns not playing but uh not practicing, But the
- 11:08Speaker 1: Patriots had a lot of people practicing, but a lot
- 11:11Speaker 1: of them limited. So how Damian Harris was limited, Lawrence
- 11:15Speaker 1: Guy was limited obviously, Mac Jones was limited, Jilan Mills,
- 11:21Speaker 1: who else? Agalore he was limited. He also has a hand,
- 11:26Speaker 1: got a back. I mean, there's some of these injuries
- 11:29Speaker 1: pop up and you don't like they never miss anything,
- 11:32Speaker 1: so you never it never like really gets on your
- 11:34Speaker 1: radar where guys who have missed games like Guy. You
- 11:37Speaker 1: know Harris is expected to miss games. But you know,
- 11:39Speaker 1: at the same time, it's I think it's a reminder
- 11:41Speaker 1: that there's a bunch of guys dealing with stuff that
- 11:44Speaker 1: you know, you might not even realize. Johnny Smith was
- 11:46Speaker 1: out there again, So they're all out there. We'll see.
- 11:49Speaker 1: I think Lawrence Guy would be would be the big
- 11:51Speaker 1: one to get him back against this rundee Alex, I
- 11:54Speaker 1: see you have your phone out, do you mind checking
- 11:56Speaker 1: the weather for Sayady did? Yeah, it's going to be
- 12:02Speaker 1: very similar to last week in Cleveland. Um, it's stay
- 12:05Speaker 1: I guess it's staying warm out there. It's gonna be
- 12:07Speaker 1: out sixty mostly sunny, okay, any win factor and he
- 12:11Speaker 1: breeze coming in. I was really surprised. Bill mentioned that
- 12:15Speaker 1: there was a cross win last week here, you know,
- 12:19Speaker 1: and you couldn't see that from the press box, like
- 12:21Speaker 1: the flags on the goalposts were not really moving. But
- 12:24Speaker 1: I guess there was like some kind of crosswind. It
- 12:27Speaker 1: was definitely windy yesterday. But I think we were just
- 12:29Speaker 1: trapped in the bowl because I know, walking into the stadium,
- 12:32Speaker 1: my hair just got ruined. And then once I was in,
- 12:35Speaker 1: I was like, okay, it's not let me too. Yeah.
- 12:38Speaker 1: It wasn't great, of course I did. Yeah, Okay, so
- 12:43Speaker 1: I'm looking up the game book from last year. Mike
- 12:47Speaker 1: and uh Mac Wilson had seven tackles in the game,
- 12:54Speaker 1: but did not now have any force fumbled. Patriots did
- 12:57Speaker 1: not turn the ball over in that game. Okay, I
- 13:00Speaker 1: mean that was pretty much a perfect game. I mean,
- 13:02Speaker 1: what was the final score of that one? And if
- 13:06Speaker 1: you'll remember the first drive by Cleveland, they rushed at
- 13:09Speaker 1: a bunch, they kind of went right down the field
- 13:10Speaker 1: and scored, and then Patriots countered and scored, and then
- 13:13Speaker 1: next possession Cleveland turned it over. Patriots scored. That was
- 13:16Speaker 1: four four. Is that the one where Chubb was on
- 13:19Speaker 1: a gallop? That was Yeah, was active in the game.
- 13:26Speaker 1: I don't know. That was before Chubb was a superstar
- 13:28Speaker 1: he was, yeah, he um. It was de Ernest Johnson.
- 13:31Speaker 1: That was the guy you guys were making fun of
- 13:32Speaker 1: me about how remember these things? Um? And they ran
- 13:36Speaker 1: him right down the field and the first drive and
- 13:38Speaker 1: then the next drive they came out and empty backfield,
- 13:41Speaker 1: shotgun spread and throwing it all over the place, and
- 13:44Speaker 1: they may started turning the ball and floated and yeah,
- 13:47Speaker 1: that was where I lost any any any hope of
- 13:50Speaker 1: big Ernest Johnson had nineteen carries for ninety nine yards
- 13:53Speaker 1: in that game. Five point two would carry. Yeah, and
- 13:56Speaker 1: it was all on the first drive. Once they fell behind,
- 13:59Speaker 1: they couldn't run ball anymore. I betch at least thirty
- 14:01Speaker 1: forty of them were on that first drive for sure.
- 14:04Speaker 1: So it's gonna be another interesting test. And to me,
- 14:07Speaker 1: the key is limiting the Cleveland rushing attack. If you
- 14:11Speaker 1: can do that, Yeah, if you can hold them, believe
- 14:14Speaker 1: it or not, around one hundred yards, I think you
- 14:15Speaker 1: win this game. One hundred yards like total between the
- 14:18Speaker 1: both of them. Yeah, yeah, rushing, rushing, yeah, total, Yeah.
- 14:23Speaker 1: I mean, I just we spent so much time in
- 14:26Speaker 1: the last few seasons talking about the Patriots run defense,
- 14:28Speaker 1: and you know, sometimes these kind of teams come up,
- 14:31Speaker 1: like last year, and you think, oh, this could be
- 14:32Speaker 1: a good challenge to see where they're really at, and
- 14:35Speaker 1: then you get dearest Johnson instead of those two guys.
- 14:37Speaker 1: So I like games like this where something that you
- 14:40Speaker 1: know you're not maybe not one hundred percent sold on
- 14:42Speaker 1: just yet that the Patriots can you know, straight up
- 14:45Speaker 1: stop the run right from the get go. Last week,
- 14:47Speaker 1: I think they showed they could do it in you know,
- 14:49Speaker 1: specific instances in short yardage, which is great. But you know,
- 14:52Speaker 1: this is a straight up test against Bill was all
- 14:54Speaker 1: over their offensive line too, and both these guys should
- 14:57Speaker 1: be ready to go, so you should learn something about
- 14:59Speaker 1: job Hunt not even on the injury report, and they
- 15:01Speaker 1: only have one offensive lineman, um Patonio, I mean, one
- 15:04Speaker 1: of their better ones, but they it should be a
- 15:07Speaker 1: good test. Yeah, yeah, is with these guys too, I saw,
- 15:12Speaker 1: but a legit test, and I think if they do,
- 15:16Speaker 1: if they do well against the their run, there's no
- 15:19Speaker 1: asterisks there where in many of these games they're you know, pros.
- 15:23Speaker 1: There's a butt. Yeah, I would just be interested in
- 15:26Speaker 1: Like Detroit the other day, I think got off to
- 15:29Speaker 1: a decent start running the ball and then fell behind him,
- 15:31Speaker 1: couldn't really run like I would be just curious to
- 15:34Speaker 1: see how the game unfolds. But yeah, personnel wise, definitely
- 15:37Speaker 1: no asteris. And if your thing comes true and it's
- 15:41Speaker 1: a regular, it's my thing. One hundred yards okay, one
- 15:44Speaker 1: hundred yards. I mean that would be an incredible performance.
- 15:46Speaker 1: If it's like one hundred, one hundred and ten yards
- 15:48Speaker 1: rushing for the Browns and you know it's like a
- 15:51Speaker 1: twenty four twenty game or something like that, that's that's
- 15:54Speaker 1: really good defense. Did you catch what I did in
- 15:56Speaker 1: the round table? And I haven't read him yet? Now
- 15:59Speaker 1: you should start sharing those with the rest of the class.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Why you can read them when they're posted. Yeah, but
- 16:03Speaker 1: you know I won't do it. But I don't want
- 16:04Speaker 1: you to, you know, apply give you any hints. You know,
- 16:07Speaker 1: I don't. I don't. I don't need to, I said,
- 16:10Speaker 1: I said, if the Patriots can hold the Browns below
- 16:14Speaker 1: one hundred and two point three yards, wow, Okay, So
- 16:17Speaker 1: how did you calculate that because well, that's that's what
- 16:20Speaker 1: I want people to wonder, like, where did I come
- 16:22Speaker 1: up with that number? It's advanced analytics. I think Freddie's
- 16:25Speaker 1: like Johnny analytic into exact. Yeah, a lot of numbers involved,
- 16:29Speaker 1: that's what came out one or two point three one
- 16:31Speaker 1: or two point two point three. Yeah, it's close. I
- 16:33Speaker 1: mean it's like one or two point two two two nine.
- 16:36Speaker 1: I just round you think he's Cynthia Freeland. I don't
- 16:39Speaker 1: know started on her or anybody else. People without girlfriends,
- 16:46Speaker 1: very very judgy, very very judging, judging. It just sits
- 16:49Speaker 1: in his ivory tower looking down at the all twenty
- 16:51Speaker 1: two judging people who don't watch it and don't have girlfriends. Yeah, well,
- 16:56Speaker 1: listen takes up a lot of time, all right. Eight
- 16:59Speaker 1: five five five hundred is the ACE ticket hot line.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Web radio at Patriots dot com is the email address? Um,
- 17:06Speaker 1: what else we got a big expose about from Seth
- 17:09Speaker 1: Wickersham on ESPN today you get Van Nada and Wickersham
- 17:14Speaker 1: on yet and there was another byline in there, Uh
- 17:17Speaker 1: was Tsha Thompson or something like that about Dan Snyder
- 17:20Speaker 1: and all there, but the voluminous he might have dirt
- 17:23Speaker 1: on all the other owners and that's why they haven't
- 17:26Speaker 1: kicked him out yet, because he could drop the bomb
- 17:29Speaker 1: if he wanted to at any time. And he's hired
- 17:31Speaker 1: private detectives to dig up dirt on even Goodell. I
- 17:35Speaker 1: mean wow, And then you're coming to and then there
- 17:39Speaker 1: it's next week. There's owners meetings right like Tuesday, Tuesday.
- 17:41Speaker 1: So this this stuff is good stuff. Kind of interesting
- 17:44Speaker 1: how it all comes out right now. And then we
- 17:46Speaker 1: got we got a weekend to kind of let it
- 17:48Speaker 1: percolate a little bit, so that that's out there. Anything else?
- 17:51Speaker 1: A big game tonight at Big Bears in Commanders. Well,
- 17:55Speaker 1: we gotta do some scouting right call. You'll be watching
- 17:59Speaker 1: watching He's party. This is probably a game that I
- 18:01Speaker 1: shan't watch a play. I don't think I will either,
- 18:04Speaker 1: although I am kind of curious to see the all
- 18:06Speaker 1: orange yeah for the Bears, and I saw it and
- 18:09Speaker 1: all right out. Do you think it'll top last week's
- 18:12Speaker 1: Thursday night game? It can't be worse, are you sure? Yeah?
- 18:17Speaker 1: Because that was the world was at twelve nine and
- 18:19Speaker 1: overtime last week, and not only did you have to
- 18:21Speaker 1: think overtime of it? I can't imagine. I mean the
- 18:26Speaker 1: most entertaining part of the game were the memes on
- 18:28Speaker 1: Twitter coming out about how bad the game was. I mean,
- 18:30Speaker 1: if if it starts out worse than I Goodell will
- 18:33Speaker 1: just run out of the All right, that's it. Stop
- 18:36Speaker 1: stop the cameras. You think it was going to be
- 18:38Speaker 1: there for this one. I think he does the opposite.
- 18:41Speaker 1: It's like, you know, the great Thursday night game the
- 18:42Speaker 1: fans on Thursday night football, Like, no matter what happens,
- 18:45Speaker 1: he tells you, the the fans are telling us they want,
- 18:47Speaker 1: you know, forty games this season, that's what they're telling
- 18:50Speaker 1: That was the year that he was here and he
- 18:52Speaker 1: was speaking at the hall and Fred and I were
- 18:53Speaker 1: off to the side, and anyone were like staff and
- 18:57Speaker 1: Walter Will making fun of everything that he said. Yeah,
- 19:00Speaker 1: this guy, I wish that you had to earn Thursday
- 19:02Speaker 1: night football games, like in college football. Everyone does not
- 19:05Speaker 1: get a Thursday night football game. Like I couldn't even
- 19:08Speaker 1: imagine if that was a thing. Yeah, I mean, it's
- 19:15Speaker 1: like you know, having to earn hard knocks. Nobody wants either. Yeah, which,
- 19:19Speaker 1: by the way, I don't know if you listen to
- 19:21Speaker 1: the pregame show, but we had forget our guests name
- 19:23Speaker 1: from Detroit Tim twenty Tim twentyman, how did I forget
- 19:26Speaker 1: that name? We asked him about just what it was
- 19:28Speaker 1: like from his as Detroit Lions dot Com to have
- 19:31Speaker 1: Hard Knocks going on, and it was interesting, like a
- 19:34Speaker 1: little bit insight of you know, actually hearing what the
- 19:37Speaker 1: guy said. You know, you watch practice, then you go,
- 19:39Speaker 1: I mean a week later you see the episode, but um,
- 19:42Speaker 1: I just thought it was interesting. You asked him like
- 19:44Speaker 1: how heavily I'm sure it was, but how heavily edited?
- 19:47Speaker 1: It was like, oh, I don't think you would know
- 19:49Speaker 1: that from the outside. Well, you know what happened at practice,
- 19:52Speaker 1: and then you know what shows up on TV, but
- 19:54Speaker 1: you don't know what was going on behind closed doors.
- 19:56Speaker 1: O oh that part. Yeah. Bradley, our video guy, could
- 19:59Speaker 1: answer that question for you because he was with the
- 20:01Speaker 1: Browns when they did the Hard Knock seasons and his
- 20:03Speaker 1: stories are legendary, real legendary. What I liked was we
- 20:08Speaker 1: asked him about, you know, like how his interaction with
- 20:13Speaker 1: the camera was like did he get on? Was he
- 20:16Speaker 1: and he was laughing, he goes that was one of
- 20:18Speaker 1: the things he went into camp saying, I'm gonna do
- 20:20Speaker 1: whatever I can to make sure I'm not anywhere near right.
- 20:23Speaker 1: He goes in like that very first thing that you
- 20:25Speaker 1: see of him, Dan Campbell doing the updowns. He's right
- 20:29Speaker 1: by he goes and I'm looking into cameras right in
- 20:31Speaker 1: my face. He's like, I guess I'm gonna be in.
- 20:35Speaker 1: I guess they get the cover practice there. Huh. Yeah.
- 20:38Speaker 1: He was like, yeah, he was right next to the field,
- 20:42Speaker 1: I think, And he looked up and he said the
- 20:43Speaker 1: camera was like looking right at him, not us. We'll
- 20:47Speaker 1: be up on the I was sitting Belichick the the
- 20:49Speaker 1: O nine one. You were you were taking notes something.
- 20:53Speaker 1: You went to your your your paper. I was like, hey,
- 20:56Speaker 1: copious notes, hands folded on the desk, anything else. Before
- 21:00Speaker 1: we get to the calls and emails. I think we
- 21:03Speaker 1: gotta we have picks Toad on Cleveland and if the hurry,
- 21:06Speaker 1: Evan will be here after practice to let us Nil
- 21:08Speaker 1: Harry's back for the Bears. So Nikil Harry, I guess
- 21:11Speaker 1: has this game circled on his calendar? He confirmed? Is
- 21:14Speaker 1: that right? What is against the watching the commanders? Just
- 21:18Speaker 1: to be back No tho was the Bears Monday night game.
- 21:21Speaker 1: I misspoke. Yeah, oh the next next week? Yeah, well
- 21:25Speaker 1: look out, watch out? All right? What would you do? Yes?
- 21:29Speaker 1: And I'm being dead serious. How would you feel if
- 21:32Speaker 1: he went for like eight and a buck twenty and
- 21:34Speaker 1: two touchdowns? I'd have to revac. Would it bother you more? No? Oh,
- 21:38Speaker 1: it would bother me. It would bother me more because
- 21:40Speaker 1: I'd be like, I never saw that, and it would
- 21:42Speaker 1: bother the training camp practices or whatever. We would bother
- 21:45Speaker 1: me a lot more. Now, it wouldn't bother me because
- 21:47Speaker 1: I just knew. I would know that no matter what
- 21:50Speaker 1: he does where he goes, he wasn't gonna do that here.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Like it was done a great way to go through life.
- 21:56Speaker 1: It just wasn't gonna have it was the right move,
- 21:58Speaker 1: no matter what. No, no, really, I mean, do you
- 22:02Speaker 1: ever think that that was gonna happen here? You know?
- 22:05Speaker 1: I think I don't think he'll ever catch I would
- 22:08Speaker 1: go into every season saying, Okay, this is gonna be
- 22:10Speaker 1: He's gonna turn it around. Yeah, or and I just
- 22:14Speaker 1: gave up. It was never gonna happen here. He needed
- 22:17Speaker 1: a new place, you know, and who knows if it's
- 22:21Speaker 1: going to happen there either. But it just wasn't going
- 22:24Speaker 1: to happen here. So if he if he has a
- 22:26Speaker 1: great career somewhere else, good for him. I mean I
- 22:28Speaker 1: was wondering why they couldn't have got it out of
- 22:30Speaker 1: him here? And what it does it look like like?
- 22:34Speaker 1: Is he like a contested catch monster? Now? And you
- 22:36Speaker 1: know what, would it bug you from the point they
- 22:39Speaker 1: weren't able to get to him or he just wasn't
- 22:42Speaker 1: putting his best effort here. No, they weren't able to
- 22:44Speaker 1: use him, right, they weren't able to get that out
- 22:46Speaker 1: of him. If he ends up turning into a really
- 22:48Speaker 1: good player, that would be that would bother me? Yeah, yeah,
- 22:50Speaker 1: why didn't we get it out of him? Yeah? Would
- 22:52Speaker 1: it make you feel worse though? If he was just
- 22:54Speaker 1: like this wide receiver who just run blocked the whole
- 22:57Speaker 1: game and was just steamrolling guys down the field, that
- 23:00Speaker 1: wouldn't bother me, like he's flexing or just killing guys left.
- 23:05Speaker 1: I mean, I don't wish Yeah, I don't wish you will,
- 23:07Speaker 1: but I would bug me if you all of a
- 23:08Speaker 1: sudden turned out to be a great receiver somewhere else
- 23:12Speaker 1: two games back from injury. I don't not too No,
- 23:15Speaker 1: I'm not spilled. I don't have really any fear of
- 23:18Speaker 1: that happening. No. Yeah, well you just watched them enough.
- 23:21Speaker 1: I mean, you know, I mean, I don't want to
- 23:22Speaker 1: say it's the same thing as as Zappy, but it's
- 23:24Speaker 1: a similar thing where it's like, look, we go out
- 23:26Speaker 1: to practice, we sit there and we watch I mean,
- 23:28Speaker 1: guys who are good, you see, the guys are good,
- 23:30Speaker 1: and guys who don't do much. You see guys who
- 23:31Speaker 1: don't do much. Like I'm not expecting Bailey Zappy to
- 23:35Speaker 1: do things I didn't see this summer, just like I'm
- 23:36Speaker 1: not expecting to kill Harry to do things that I
- 23:39Speaker 1: didn't see for three summers or whatever, four summers of
- 23:42Speaker 1: watching them in the training camp. You know. Yeahikes, that
- 23:44Speaker 1: was a harsh comparison. Well you see, you know, you
- 23:46Speaker 1: know what I mean, you know what I mean. Right
- 23:49Speaker 1: there he is, there's Zappy. All right, let's go to
- 23:51Speaker 1: the phones. I guess I will start with Todd North
- 23:54Speaker 1: Carolina on the ACE taket a hot line. What's up Todd? Hey, guys.
- 23:57Speaker 1: My prediction for the game tonight is as based on
- 24:00Speaker 1: the Paul Prittle theory that when you have two average
- 24:03Speaker 1: to Midland teams. You take the home team, and I
- 24:06Speaker 1: think Cleveland's probably gonna pull this out. I think it's
- 24:08Speaker 1: gonna be really close. But my feeling is there's you know,
- 24:11Speaker 1: you're playing gaft the Patriots, you always step up. I
- 24:14Speaker 1: don't care. Even if it's past the dynasty, you still
- 24:18Speaker 1: they still want to beat you. Right, So, and the
- 24:21Speaker 1: talent on the Cleveland team is pretty good. You're picking
- 24:24Speaker 1: Cleveland seriously, I am on bro Wow. Now I have
- 24:30Speaker 1: a good question for you guys going forward past this game,
- 24:34Speaker 1: because and into the winning streak, which two players, one
- 24:38Speaker 1: on offense one on defense need to bring their a
- 24:41Speaker 1: game for the rest of the year to really make
- 24:43Speaker 1: a difference. And my two are Mac Jones on the
- 24:46Speaker 1: offense because I think if he can bring his a game,
- 24:48Speaker 1: he's got enough tools that you'll be able to do things.
- 24:50Speaker 1: And then just Uche, I think we need to see
- 24:52Speaker 1: something from Ouche. I think if he can start flying
- 24:54Speaker 1: around and we up that his game, then I think
- 24:58Speaker 1: we've got some enough to I think I think I
- 25:01Speaker 1: think Mac Jones is obvious. I think Buche is a stretch.
- 25:05Speaker 1: I think you're really digging deep. There's a bit player. Yeah,
- 25:08Speaker 1: I think. I mean, listen, if he turns out to
- 25:11Speaker 1: be like, you know, this great player, but that's not
- 25:14Speaker 1: going to happen. I don't think. I think you're digging deep.
- 25:16Speaker 1: I would just stick at and he's made a difference
- 25:20Speaker 1: just plays like every down though. I mean, josh uch
- 25:24Speaker 1: is playing like fifteen twenty snaps a game. It's hard
- 25:26Speaker 1: to think we need more of him on the field. Really,
- 25:31Speaker 1: So you want more, I'm sure I want more plays.
- 25:35Speaker 1: I don't. I don't need him to be out. I
- 25:36Speaker 1: just wanted to make plays. To me, it would be
- 25:38Speaker 1: Jude On maintaining Yeah, unlike last year, his maintaining his
- 25:42Speaker 1: strong level of play. Okay, well, I didn't want to
- 25:44Speaker 1: pick dude On because I thought he was already bringing
- 25:46Speaker 1: his A game. But yeah, I get what you're saying.
- 25:48Speaker 1: I think if every week the defensive battfield, the young
- 25:52Speaker 1: guys get a little bit better, just a little bit
- 25:54Speaker 1: better every week, I think to me, that's that's the
- 25:58Speaker 1: ingredient of success on defense. Yeah, well let's let's yeah,
- 26:03Speaker 1: let's see them match up against thanks time. You know,
- 26:05Speaker 1: a deep receiving corps and you got them coming up
- 26:07Speaker 1: and they'll be fine with this game. They'll be fine
- 26:09Speaker 1: with the next one. Let me know what happens in
- 26:11Speaker 1: November and December. Yeah, that's why I say by that time,
- 26:14Speaker 1: hopefully they're in full stride um George and Madison. New
- 26:19Speaker 1: Jersey writes, and do you guys think that all the
- 26:22Speaker 1: calls for Zappy to usurp Mac would be so loud
- 26:25Speaker 1: if Mac were playing better? No? Well, I mean I
- 26:29Speaker 1: think that goes a little bit to what we're saying. Answer.
- 26:31Speaker 1: I mean, I do think that Mac was catching some flak,
- 26:33Speaker 1: you know, before he got hurt, Like you know, I mean,
- 26:35Speaker 1: there were there were certainly people saying, oh, he hasn't
- 26:38Speaker 1: made the year two jump. I mean, if Mac had
- 26:40Speaker 1: been lighting it up until now, we'd be just, you know,
- 26:43Speaker 1: begging for him to get back. Mac is clearly farther
- 26:46Speaker 1: along than Zappy and the better quarterback overall. But is
- 26:50Speaker 1: Mac going to be the kind of quarterback that will
- 26:52Speaker 1: get you out of a two and three TD hole
- 26:55Speaker 1: against the Mahomes or Alan. I know it's early, but
- 26:58Speaker 1: my gut tells me he's not to get there. I
- 27:01Speaker 1: know quarterbacks. Although I never played football, I lived one
- 27:05Speaker 1: floor below Eli Manning in Hoboken for two years. Actually true,
- 27:10Speaker 1: and once rode in the elevator with Peyton, who I
- 27:12Speaker 1: didn't recognize, So this clearly makes me an expert. You
- 27:16Speaker 1: didn't recognize pet Hoboken, Freddy. Isn't that Arthur's? Yes, yes,
- 27:21Speaker 1: it's Arthur's. Have you ever gone to Arthur's and Hooken?
- 27:25Speaker 1: Great place? Is it? What is it? It was a
- 27:27Speaker 1: steak place. But not recognizing Peyton, like, I know, didn't
- 27:32Speaker 1: imagine you're much of a football He's pretty recognized. Yes,
- 27:37Speaker 1: unless he had like some woolen hat over could be too.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Maybe he like if you have on sunglasses and hat
- 27:43Speaker 1: and like something. Sure, well, I mean we were at
- 27:48Speaker 1: the hall, we saw boomer size, and there we knew
- 27:49Speaker 1: who it was, right, It's true. Thanks, thanks Dukes. Is
- 27:54Speaker 1: that boomer size? Paul? It's an inside joke my five
- 27:59Speaker 1: foot nothing? Those who know no, Um, let's see um.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Lots of emails about whether or not I would agree,
- 28:07Speaker 1: by the way, about mac Jones, like just to we
- 28:08Speaker 1: should probably talk about the guy's email. You took the
- 28:11Speaker 1: time to read it. Yeah, but I thought, okay, I
- 28:13Speaker 1: don't have a lot of faith in the Patriots offense
- 28:17Speaker 1: coming back from you know, multiple school deficits, and I
- 28:20Speaker 1: think that you know that that's a problem for mac Jones.
- 28:24Speaker 1: Do you think that there their acknowledgement of pushing the
- 28:27Speaker 1: ball down the field is a way to try to
- 28:29Speaker 1: get to that point? Yep? You know, like it seems like,
- 28:33Speaker 1: you know, I saw them win the game that they
- 28:36Speaker 1: won Sunday a million times, you know, twelve really, but
- 28:40Speaker 1: I haven't seen them win another way. I think with
- 28:42Speaker 1: the Patriots coaching staff did throughout the offseason, I think
- 28:47Speaker 1: makes a lot of sense. A lot of people have
- 28:49Speaker 1: given them a lot of correct crap for it. I
- 28:51Speaker 1: think that they needed to find ways to get some
- 28:54Speaker 1: chunk plays and have the ability to score quicker so
- 28:59Speaker 1: when you're in a different kind of game, you're not
- 29:01Speaker 1: spending eight and a half minutes getting the one score
- 29:05Speaker 1: of the two school deficit, which is what they did
- 29:07Speaker 1: in those games that they never had a chance in
- 29:09Speaker 1: last year. And they needed to show a willingness to
- 29:11Speaker 1: do it, because again, if they were easy to defend
- 29:14Speaker 1: last year, the way to combat that is to be,
- 29:18Speaker 1: you know, do different things so that teams don't know
- 29:21Speaker 1: what you're gonna do on every down, you know, become
- 29:24Speaker 1: a little less easy to defend, and you have to show,
- 29:27Speaker 1: even if it's not successful, show the willingness to go
- 29:30Speaker 1: deep once in a while, you know, and now with
- 29:32Speaker 1: Thornton back, maybe you can actually be successful doing it. Yeah.
- 29:36Speaker 1: I mean the speed that they drafted. I mean you
- 29:38Speaker 1: look up and down the draft. Everybody can run. I
- 29:40Speaker 1: mean from Cole Strange through Marcus Jones and you know,
- 29:43Speaker 1: I mean all those guys are fast. Pierre Strong, I
- 29:46Speaker 1: guess now it's just a question of can you get
- 29:48Speaker 1: back back and translate it? And I think for me,
- 29:50Speaker 1: like that's why I'm kind of stuck. Like there's so
- 29:52Speaker 1: much analysis going on of the offense, and you know,
- 29:55Speaker 1: the Patricia thing and all that, but like they play
- 29:57Speaker 1: two games with their backups, Like it's hard for me
- 29:59Speaker 1: to really look at these last two games and be
- 30:01Speaker 1: like this is what they are. This to me is
- 30:03Speaker 1: like two lifeboat games where you're just trying to get
- 30:06Speaker 1: the win and not beat yourself, right, And so it's
- 30:09Speaker 1: hard to really judge where they are over the last
- 30:12Speaker 1: two weeks. You know. So once you get Mac back,
- 30:14Speaker 1: then you can start pressing that issue more and see
- 30:17Speaker 1: what they really are. But until he does, I think
- 30:18Speaker 1: that they're still in that lifeboat. I really wonder what
- 30:21Speaker 1: Max's mindset is right now. Someone asked about that, like
- 30:24Speaker 1: where is he mentally dealing with the injury? And also
- 30:27Speaker 1: I guess you could say that Zappi fever situation and
- 30:31Speaker 1: they're like, that's a question for Mac. Yeah, well it is.
- 30:34Speaker 1: I mean that's a question for Matt. How you're gonna
- 30:35Speaker 1: ask Joe Judge how he's doing mentally, Like he's not
- 30:38Speaker 1: in his mind Like so when he when he does
- 30:40Speaker 1: come back, he is he pressed? You know when he
- 30:43Speaker 1: when he does come back, does he press and does
- 30:46Speaker 1: that hurt him or does he use this as motivation
- 30:49Speaker 1: and does it make him get better? I just for me,
- 30:52Speaker 1: it's clean up the mistakes. I think Mac was playing okay.
- 30:55Speaker 1: I just think he needs to clean up the mistakes.
- 30:57Speaker 1: And when we talked about him going out and getting
- 30:59Speaker 1: the the perspective from watching a couple of games, like,
- 31:03Speaker 1: I just hope he gets back to that that, you know,
- 31:05Speaker 1: not throwing terrible interceptions. I mean, their interceptions are going
- 31:09Speaker 1: to happen, Zappy hap, but you know it's the ones
- 31:11Speaker 1: where it's right to the guy. And there's been ones
- 31:14Speaker 1: that have been dropped and it was consistent, and I
- 31:18Speaker 1: think that's the biggest thing that he needs to clean
- 31:20Speaker 1: up to get back here and you know, get on
- 31:22Speaker 1: track and get rid of this dappy stuff. But in
- 31:23Speaker 1: terms of his mindset, I mean, based on what I've
- 31:25Speaker 1: seen in that guy, I think he wants to get
- 31:27Speaker 1: back a SAP. I think, well, I'm pretty sure of that.
- 31:30Speaker 1: I mean, I I mean, I think he understands the
- 31:33Speaker 1: NFL and that you know, you can lose your job anyway,
- 31:36Speaker 1: it doesn't matter if it's injury or whatever. You know,
- 31:38Speaker 1: regardless of how much of this zappy stuff is kind
- 31:40Speaker 1: of overblown, I still think he hears that and he
- 31:42Speaker 1: wants to push things to get back, maybe even before
- 31:45Speaker 1: he should. That's where I think I hope he's taking
- 31:48Speaker 1: that personally. Yeah, well sure, I mean, you know, Michael Jordan,
- 31:53Speaker 1: how dare you play marginally? Well? Wait, Paul, what was
- 31:57Speaker 1: the thing that you taught me on Sunday? Hands up
- 31:59Speaker 1: or Paul up? Palms palms up? You have to kind
- 32:03Speaker 1: of jump in youth sports, that's as up. Well, the
- 32:09Speaker 1: youth sports coaches are always we're a palm's down team,
- 32:12Speaker 1: not a palms up like settled down patience, not what
- 32:17Speaker 1: are we doing juggling. Um. I also will say, yes,
- 32:23Speaker 1: I do want Mac Jones when he's back out there
- 32:25Speaker 1: to kind of limit the tone rovers But I also
- 32:27Speaker 1: say I kind of feel like the offensive line is
- 32:29Speaker 1: playing better now than they were. Yeah, that's what weird
- 32:32Speaker 1: beginning in a season. So I'm thinking a mixture with
- 32:35Speaker 1: a better offensive line maybe that'll help him out. So yeah,
- 32:39Speaker 1: so maybe watching from above and says, hey, these guys
- 32:40Speaker 1: aren't so bad. I think bringing Cannon in has kind
- 32:44Speaker 1: of settled things. Using him as the extra person, the
- 32:47Speaker 1: eligible person, you know, Um, that's help. I think Stevenson
- 32:51Speaker 1: has gotten better every week with Blitz pick up, um,
- 32:55Speaker 1: you know. So I think you're right. I think Cole strange,
- 32:58Speaker 1: you would imagine every game he's got, but I think
- 33:00Speaker 1: they've gotten better. And so I think that when Mac
- 33:02Speaker 1: Jones is available and Brady to come back, that I'm
- 33:05Speaker 1: hoping that that could help him out too. I think
- 33:07Speaker 1: there's anything we've We've been talking a lot about it.
- 33:09Speaker 1: We get stopped, stack the box and stop, you know,
- 33:11Speaker 1: Chubb and Hunt. I mean, do you think there's anything
- 33:13Speaker 1: to be said talking about things that have developed since
- 33:15Speaker 1: Mac has been out? Stevenson great game last week continues
- 33:18Speaker 1: to ascend. Do you get to a point where you
- 33:20Speaker 1: feel like, hey, Stevenson might require a little box attention
- 33:24Speaker 1: from the defense, you know, and and maybe that can
- 33:26Speaker 1: help downfield if they get you know, less coverage heads,
- 33:30Speaker 1: especially downfield. I mean, I wonder if means something now,
- 33:34Speaker 1: you know, does does does? This game and everybody's talking
- 33:37Speaker 1: about Zappie Mac, I feel like I'm going to Harrison
- 33:39Speaker 1: and Stevenson, but you know, does Harris's injury at this
- 33:42Speaker 1: point and Stevenson's Stevenson's kind of ascension a little bit?
- 33:46Speaker 1: Does that change the roles at all? I mean, it
- 33:47Speaker 1: still seemed like kind of Harris was the lead guy,
- 33:50Speaker 1: you know, does does? Does? Does Stevenson take that over?
- 33:53Speaker 1: And does he become kind of the lead guy? I mean,
- 33:55Speaker 1: I think they're great together, but I just think if
- 33:57Speaker 1: Stevenson brings this threat of well, you know, we have
- 34:01Speaker 1: to consider this, well, I think they're you know, when
- 34:03Speaker 1: we're stacking once Harris is healthy, like, do you have
- 34:06Speaker 1: to change it up? It's working the way they do it.
- 34:09Speaker 1: You know, put Harrison to start, you know, and you know,
- 34:12Speaker 1: mix in Stevenson and as things start to roll, you
- 34:16Speaker 1: figure out. You know what styles working best? You know,
- 34:19Speaker 1: I don't. I see no reason to really change that
- 34:22Speaker 1: up as long as Harris is healthy. I also liked
- 34:24Speaker 1: someone asked Bill this. I can't remember if it was
- 34:26Speaker 1: after the game or um the next day, but someone
- 34:30Speaker 1: asked hez Ramandre proved that he can be in every
- 34:33Speaker 1: down back and he said, there's no question about that
- 34:35Speaker 1: of course. All right. Yeah, so I think he's raved
- 34:40Speaker 1: about him a ton and that they do need to
- 34:42Speaker 1: lean on him heavily while Harris is gone. Like that's great,
- 34:45Speaker 1: But I do agree that why not use both of them?
- 34:47Speaker 1: Why not use both? Yeah? Um Bama Boom writes in
- 34:51Speaker 1: first time emailer found your podcasts after the Bucks game
- 34:55Speaker 1: and love the show. My question is do you think
- 34:58Speaker 1: people are overlooking the Browns matchup? I think this is
- 35:00Speaker 1: a serious test for the team and could see a
- 35:03Speaker 1: really close game this Sunday. Well, I definitely Deuce is
- 35:07Speaker 1: overlooking it. I am, I definitely am. I'm trying to
- 35:10Speaker 1: set them up to fail. No, I would never do so.
- 35:13Speaker 1: Mike is doing no. No. I just I just think
- 35:16Speaker 1: they're gonna win this game. I mean, last week Lions
- 35:19Speaker 1: team is pretty good. I think this Patriot team will
- 35:22Speaker 1: come together and I think they've found something. Also, I
- 35:24Speaker 1: haven't watched a ton of the Cleveland Browns, but I
- 35:28Speaker 1: feel like the fact that the games that they've lost
- 35:30Speaker 1: have been by a total of six points, it's like
- 35:31Speaker 1: they could be undefeated right now, which is I did
- 35:33Speaker 1: not predict that, especially considering what's going on in their
- 35:36Speaker 1: quarterback room. I was like, Oh, they're not going to
- 35:39Speaker 1: win a game, but to see they could have could
- 35:42Speaker 1: be five and oh right now, it's like it is
- 35:44Speaker 1: a little shocking based on their season. I don't know
- 35:47Speaker 1: how you could feel great about saying that this one
- 35:51Speaker 1: would be easy. Right Every one of their games basically
- 35:54Speaker 1: has gone down to the last possession yep, and the
- 35:58Speaker 1: one that was a two score a game involved a
- 36:01Speaker 1: touchdown on the on the last play of the game
- 36:04Speaker 1: that you know, the Pittsburgh Thursday Night or there was
- 36:06Speaker 1: a fumble lateral play that that game was twenty three
- 36:10Speaker 1: seventeen I think until that play. So all the other games,
- 36:13Speaker 1: if they miss a field goal opening Day, they lose.
- 36:16Speaker 1: If they make a field goal last week against the Chargers,
- 36:19Speaker 1: they win. That's how every one of their games has been. Yeah,
- 36:22Speaker 1: but thinks it's all right. The Panthers, they just fired
- 36:26Speaker 1: their coach, Jets week two with Joe Flacco, Steelers are
- 36:29Speaker 1: on their next quarterback. The Falcons. The Falcons and the
- 36:32Speaker 1: Chargers without most of their stars, and Justin Herbert's playing
- 36:36Speaker 1: with Rid So some contexts we talk about everybody, are
- 36:39Speaker 1: we going to do this? Right? So now now we're
- 36:42Speaker 1: gonna say, Pittsburgh in Detroit, right, two wins combined, right, Like,
- 36:47Speaker 1: that's what we're doing. They've all been close. But I
- 36:50Speaker 1: just think the page no, no, Pins games haven't all
- 36:52Speaker 1: been close. Those are their wins. Pittsburgh in Detroit, Miami.
- 36:56Speaker 1: They got blasted against Miami, and they got blasted against
- 36:59Speaker 1: Baltimore in the fourth quarter, the best one of the
- 37:02Speaker 1: probably the best team in the conference. Okay, but you lost.
- 37:05Speaker 1: So so why we have all this like confidence that
- 37:09Speaker 1: it's going to be a blow I agree with you.
- 37:10Speaker 1: I think everyone of Cleveland's games has gone down to
- 37:12Speaker 1: the last play. I think the Patriots will beat him
- 37:14Speaker 1: by ten points. I hope you're right. I don't think
- 37:17Speaker 1: it's a blowout, but ten points in the NFL is
- 37:19Speaker 1: a blowout, all right, Then they'll blow them out. I
- 37:22Speaker 1: mean there's one spread this week. That's more than ten
- 37:25Speaker 1: points one. Yeah, out of the fourteen game, nobody haats
- 37:27Speaker 1: Jacobi per Set more than you, Paul, So I think
- 37:29Speaker 1: he stinks. But it's a freend's point. All they do
- 37:33Speaker 1: is run the ball, and they find a way to
- 37:35Speaker 1: score points. It's one of those rare teams that finds
- 37:38Speaker 1: a way to get in the mid mid to high
- 37:39Speaker 1: twenties without throwing the ball and matching up with us, Like,
- 37:43Speaker 1: I mean, there's I think their success is a credit
- 37:45Speaker 1: to their running backs also, like a really great offensive line,
- 37:48Speaker 1: and just our defensive line has not really blown me
- 37:52Speaker 1: away this year. That's that's fair. That's fair. Well, I
- 37:55Speaker 1: think I think you're right overall, but I think they're
- 37:58Speaker 1: getting better week by week as well. Why do you
- 38:00Speaker 1: judge though, I'd love to see Lawrence Guy back. I
- 38:02Speaker 1: think that would really help. But like last week, they
- 38:05Speaker 1: had a shut out. Their defense was outstanding. I just
- 38:07Speaker 1: watched the game, Paul. Last week, they were outstanding. I
- 38:10Speaker 1: can't say enough good things about the defense last week. Yeah,
- 38:13Speaker 1: the previous two weeks were not improvements. I just watched
- 38:15Speaker 1: the game, right, So I'm asking you what you're judging
- 38:18Speaker 1: it on it just what I see. So what was
- 38:20Speaker 1: the improvement that you saw? That's what I'm asking. I
- 38:22Speaker 1: just see guys. If guys aren't out of position, I
- 38:25Speaker 1: think I think were they out of position? In the
- 38:27Speaker 1: Miami they're playing much more solid defense. But based on like,
- 38:32Speaker 1: this is what I'm saying, my eyes, But you're saying
- 38:34Speaker 1: they're improving, my eyes, they're improving based off of what
- 38:38Speaker 1: That's what I'm asking, my eye from what I see
- 38:41Speaker 1: from the Miami game to the to the Baltimore game. Yes,
- 38:43Speaker 1: you told me that against Miami they were great defensively,
- 38:46Speaker 1: Well not again, and they got thirty seven to said,
- 38:49Speaker 1: I said, they did a great job minimizing the yards
- 38:53Speaker 1: after catched by guys like and then two weeks later
- 38:56Speaker 1: they gave up thirty seven Baltimore. I thought they did
- 38:58Speaker 1: a good job in that game. That right, But then
- 39:00Speaker 1: you said they've improved. So two weeks later they get
- 39:04Speaker 1: up thirty seven. Was that an improvement over Miami? What
- 39:07Speaker 1: was the running totals in that game against Baltimore? Yeah,
- 39:10Speaker 1: you have two hundred yards. Yeah, but when they get
- 39:13Speaker 1: up another two hundred yards the next week against Green Bay. Yeah,
- 39:16Speaker 1: but you have to look at it in context, it
- 39:18Speaker 1: wasn't okay, So they didn't improve. I think they are.
- 39:21Speaker 1: I think they are. Last week they're not. They're not
- 39:24Speaker 1: getting gashed the way they were. She went out to
- 39:27Speaker 1: here to go to practice. Yeah, they're getting Last week,
- 39:30Speaker 1: they did not get gashed. I will agree with you
- 39:32Speaker 1: they I think last week was a tremendous defensive effort.
- 39:36Speaker 1: They did not get gashed. In the running game. They
- 39:38Speaker 1: gave golf absolutely nothing. They would dominant. Yeah, but the
- 39:43Speaker 1: previous two weeks that wasn't the case. I can just
- 39:45Speaker 1: tell you that I'm seeing guys playing better. Guys playing
- 39:49Speaker 1: better last week. I agree, No, every week. It's I
- 39:53Speaker 1: just don't understand how you comment that based on those
- 39:55Speaker 1: two others. Was just based on the numbers, Paul, It's no,
- 39:58Speaker 1: It's based on the performance. Yeah, this is what I'm
- 40:01Speaker 1: asking you. What what did you see? I'm asking you
- 40:04Speaker 1: what did you see besides like guys lining up right,
- 40:06Speaker 1: I'm I'm seeing guys making plays, not getting pushed around
- 40:10Speaker 1: like they were, you know earlier. So I'm telling you
- 40:15Speaker 1: they're getting better. Was my one. God Shaws, you know,
- 40:18Speaker 1: I like I said, I wish a guy was in there,
- 40:20Speaker 1: but I think god Shaw's playing well. I think, you know,
- 40:23Speaker 1: the problem before was linebackers weren't really helping out. They
- 40:27Speaker 1: weren't filling in behind. That's starting to get better last week,
- 40:32Speaker 1: I would agree, you know, I think I can't argue
- 40:34Speaker 1: with that's starting to get better. But I think the
- 40:36Speaker 1: guys up front, you know, Deuce's guys on the line
- 40:39Speaker 1: are playing pretty well last week. Outstanding. Yeah, I totally
- 40:42Speaker 1: agree with you. I just don't agree on the Baltimore
- 40:45Speaker 1: and Green Bay games. I don't think they played well
- 40:47Speaker 1: defensively in those house. I know, I mean, and and
- 40:50Speaker 1: you're right, I mean, I but Baltimore though, I just
- 40:52Speaker 1: they got Lamar. I mean, that's why I like this.
- 40:55Speaker 1: That's the other thing. Take out Lamar's numbers, and I
- 40:58Speaker 1: mean you can't. It was still really bad. I know
- 41:01Speaker 1: you hadn't take them out. I know you can't take
- 41:03Speaker 1: out the numbers, but you know, that's tough, it's unique.
- 41:06Speaker 1: It's hard to judge the whole defense off of Lamar.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Lamar's a lot of people, and this is kind of
- 41:12Speaker 1: what my point is, Like, this is the only reason why,
- 41:14Speaker 1: like I kind of snooped up at Mike, who was
- 41:16Speaker 1: downplaying Cleveland's at a quosity. We can sit there and
- 41:22Speaker 1: tell you everybody's you know, it was Joe Flacco against
- 41:25Speaker 1: the Jet. Yeah, they stink. And when you have played
- 41:28Speaker 1: somebody who doesn't stink, you've looked bad, right like it
- 41:33Speaker 1: was Lamar Jackson. Okay, I'll make sure that we don't
- 41:35Speaker 1: play any good quarterbacks that can make plays so the
- 41:37Speaker 1: defense can pitch shutouts. This week is gonna this is
- 41:44Speaker 1: right exactly. He's good. You couldn't match up. That's fine.
- 41:48Speaker 1: I don't think that this is probably gonna be. There's
- 41:50Speaker 1: probably gonna be a time when you're gonna face other
- 41:53Speaker 1: quarterbacks who were good, and I hope by then they're
- 41:56Speaker 1: making strides and well, you don't think you'll face a
- 41:58Speaker 1: quarterback as good as Lamar Jack's not that style. I mean,
- 42:01Speaker 1: I think I think Allen who was a hundred times
- 42:04Speaker 1: better than Josh Allen, but Aaron Rodgers. I mean, they
- 42:09Speaker 1: did all right, that's another MV do all right. This
- 42:11Speaker 1: is my point that teams scored way more points than
- 42:15Speaker 1: they normally score. They did all right, Okay, I mean
- 42:18Speaker 1: we could just say they well, okay, I mean he
- 42:21Speaker 1: made some throws, but I mean that's another MVP. Aaron
- 42:23Speaker 1: Rodgers did not make anything. He thought it was the
- 42:26Speaker 1: run game. Yes, they done. It was not that nothing
- 42:29Speaker 1: to do with Aaron Rodgers, I know. But what is
- 42:31Speaker 1: saying Aaron Rodgers. Are we talking about defense or just
- 42:34Speaker 1: like Jack Jones. No, but Aaron Rodgers didn't beat them.
- 42:38Speaker 1: They did a good job against Aaron Right, And why
- 42:40Speaker 1: do you think that they get up so many yards
- 42:41Speaker 1: rushing because they were focused on stopping Aaron rod exactly.
- 42:45Speaker 1: And you don't have to worry about that against some
- 42:47Speaker 1: other teams who can't do anything to beat you. That
- 42:49Speaker 1: was like last week. That was the choice that they
- 42:52Speaker 1: made in that game. That was the game plan. We're
- 42:54Speaker 1: gonna We're gonna sacrifice rushing yards and make sure that
- 42:57Speaker 1: we don't let I just don't tell me that allowing
- 43:00Speaker 1: a team that averages sixteen points a game twenty seven
- 43:03Speaker 1: is good defense. That's all I ask. Well, and that's
- 43:05Speaker 1: all I'm asking only twenty four. Yeah, and if not
- 43:08Speaker 1: for a drop touchdown passing with two minutes left, it
- 43:10Speaker 1: would have been thirty one. Right. You don't think they
- 43:13Speaker 1: have other drops. They didn't do anything to stop that play, correct, Yeah,
- 43:17Speaker 1: I think the Patriot I think the defense is getting
- 43:19Speaker 1: better every week. I really do. Well, all right, I
- 43:22Speaker 1: understand that you believe it. I'm just asking you to
- 43:24Speaker 1: explain why from what I see. Just like guys making cake,
- 43:27Speaker 1: I can just use the force two guys, just like
- 43:30Speaker 1: make stuff up guys. I see it what I sent.
- 43:33Speaker 1: I see dugger getting better every every week. Last week
- 43:35Speaker 1: I saw a defense that played in an entirely different
- 43:38Speaker 1: way than they did the previous two games, and they
- 43:40Speaker 1: completely snuffed out what I think is a really good offense.
- 43:44Speaker 1: I would give that as a mic argument against me
- 43:47Speaker 1: and say, I think the Lions are pretty good on
- 43:49Speaker 1: an offense, and they made them look pretty bad. Yeah,
- 43:52Speaker 1: that to me is an improvement defensively. And I think
- 43:54Speaker 1: I think in week one they couldn't have done that.
- 43:56Speaker 1: I think they've been getting better every week. Okay, they
- 44:00Speaker 1: couldn't have done it anything. And I think, you know
- 44:01Speaker 1: when they couldn't have done it in week three or
- 44:03Speaker 1: four either. And I think part of it is, like
- 44:05Speaker 1: I said earlier, Steve Belichick and Gerard Mayo understanding, Okay,
- 44:09Speaker 1: who are who do we have on? You know what
- 44:11Speaker 1: you do when you don't really have anything tangible? You
- 44:13Speaker 1: go on. You go on things that are completely subjective.
- 44:17Speaker 1: I think it's Steve Belichick and Gerard May understand. Yeah,
- 44:19Speaker 1: I can't argue. I can't argue that Paul Paul. I
- 44:22Speaker 1: can't argue. I can't argue with Paul makes no idea.
- 44:25Speaker 1: Paul makes fun of all the stats, geeks. Unless he
- 44:28Speaker 1: was making fun, I'm not making I'm not giving you
- 44:31Speaker 1: any stats. I'm giving you performance. That's it's the other
- 44:34Speaker 1: team moved the ball at will and score points. That's all.
- 44:36Speaker 1: That's not at you think green Bay you move the
- 44:39Speaker 1: ball at will from the second half on, yes, okay,
- 44:42Speaker 1: but not the first half. They got off to a
- 44:44Speaker 1: slow start offensively in the first half. Why the Patriots
- 44:47Speaker 1: defense played well in the first half. I said, go
- 44:50Speaker 1: back and listen to the post. And last week they
- 44:52Speaker 1: put a game together. We're both halfs they played. So
- 44:54Speaker 1: they're getting better. They're getting better. You told me they
- 44:57Speaker 1: got better in the green Bay game. I think they
- 44:58Speaker 1: were better in green Bay then they were the week before, right, yes,
- 45:03Speaker 1: they were, So they're getting better. They were, but they
- 45:04Speaker 1: weren't better than they were against Pittsburgh. Well Pittsburgh stinks, Okay,
- 45:09Speaker 1: I mean I do take some things at the consideration.
- 45:13Speaker 1: Who I think they were better than I think they
- 45:14Speaker 1: were better against green Bay than they were against Baltimore.
- 45:17Speaker 1: I do, Okay, I do evidence of getting better. And
- 45:22Speaker 1: I think they were better from green Bay to Baltimore.
- 45:24Speaker 1: I don't think that the Baltimore and Green Bay games.
- 45:26Speaker 1: But did they get They weren't better in the Baltimore
- 45:28Speaker 1: or Green Bacon and they were against Miami. Did they
- 45:30Speaker 1: get better after Baltimore and after Baltimore, Yes, I'd have
- 45:34Speaker 1: to say, and they got better after that. But they're
- 45:36Speaker 1: getting better, but they got out, but they got worse
- 45:40Speaker 1: from Miami in Pittsburgh to Baltimore and green Bay. They
- 45:44Speaker 1: got worse in those two games from the first two games.
- 45:47Speaker 1: Then they bounced back and got better. Okay, I'm like
- 45:50Speaker 1: I said, I'm I'm gonna I'm sticking to my guns.
- 45:53Speaker 1: I think this defense is getting better. I think the
- 45:55Speaker 1: coaches are understanding who they are. I think they're putting
- 45:58Speaker 1: him in the positions. You know, this guy does this well,
- 46:01Speaker 1: he doesn't do that well, Let's not put him in
- 46:03Speaker 1: that position anymore. They're finding out what works for the
- 46:08Speaker 1: personnel that they have week by week. And I think
- 46:11Speaker 1: I think it's getting better and by the time they
- 46:13Speaker 1: played Josh Allen, maybe maybe maybe they'll be able to
- 46:17Speaker 1: put up a fight hopefully maybe. Yeah, maybe, though I won't,
- 46:22Speaker 1: I'll stop hijack on this show. No, let's I think
- 46:25Speaker 1: it's good for the video, right, we need we need
- 46:27Speaker 1: a little yeah, a little little drama, little fireworks. It's
- 46:30Speaker 1: it's fine, Yeah, it's you know, I still haven't found
- 46:33Speaker 1: out why, but I'll let it go. Well, I mean,
- 46:36Speaker 1: I just don't rely on numbers. I look at at
- 46:39Speaker 1: what I keep telling me. You think the coaches are
- 46:41Speaker 1: putting guys in positions to see like, how about an exam?
- 46:45Speaker 1: Don't need to remember about an example? I remember last
- 46:48Speaker 1: year guys would just like out of position, like just
- 46:51Speaker 1: you know, big running place again, how about an example,
- 46:54Speaker 1: I like, I don't have like it in front of me.
- 46:57Speaker 1: I just like you said, I look at the whole game,
- 46:59Speaker 1: and I just remember guys with their backs to the
- 47:01Speaker 1: play because they're guessing wrong or they're you know, and
- 47:04Speaker 1: just being kind of like Jawan Bentley shooting a gap
- 47:08Speaker 1: and having the ball go by him. Yeah, that that's
- 47:10Speaker 1: that's that's an example. Okay, So then I can use
- 47:17Speaker 1: an example of Dugger, you know, shedding three blockers to
- 47:20Speaker 1: make a tackle for loss right, But is that coaching?
- 47:23Speaker 1: He's in the right position, He's he's there to make
- 47:25Speaker 1: the play. You know, he smells like he's being coached up.
- 47:29Speaker 1: He's like, this is what's happening here, you know, reading
- 47:32Speaker 1: the play and recognizing it and reacting. I think there's
- 47:35Speaker 1: something too coaching there, but also putting the right guys
- 47:39Speaker 1: in the right position to make plays. You know, you know,
- 47:43Speaker 1: you can't say Dugger's not improving. I think Dougger's a
- 47:46Speaker 1: good player. Yeah. I didn't say anything about Tugger, but
- 47:49Speaker 1: he's Judean is playing well. You know, I think, you know,
- 47:53Speaker 1: the defensive player of the week this week, you know,
- 47:56Speaker 1: first time this year. He's getting better. You know, you're
- 48:01Speaker 1: I'm with you, Fred. I mean I think, I think surprise,
- 48:04Speaker 1: I think takes, I think the Pau's point. There have
- 48:06Speaker 1: been up and downs with a lot of elements, but overall,
- 48:10Speaker 1: I think that's what you would Listen. I said it's
- 48:14Speaker 1: a perfect game. I think it was good. I think
- 48:17Speaker 1: Sunday was outstanding. I don't know how many different times
- 48:19Speaker 1: I can tell you how impressed I was with the defense.
- 48:21Speaker 1: On Sunday, I spent my whole hour with felgrad Mas telling.
- 48:25Speaker 1: All I said is I think they're getting better, and
- 48:26Speaker 1: you're saying, no, they're not, because they got better Sunday, Fred,
- 48:30Speaker 1: like this, like incremental improvement that you're talking about, I
- 48:33Speaker 1: disagree with. I'm sorry that I don't see it the
- 48:35Speaker 1: same way. Okay, you do. I'm sorry. I don't understand
- 48:38Speaker 1: what the defensive game plan is because I don't know
- 48:40Speaker 1: enough about that to credit the coaches for putting guys
- 48:43Speaker 1: in positions to hide their weaknesses. I don't know what
- 48:46Speaker 1: they I don't know anything that they've to do that.
- 48:48Speaker 1: I believe every game they go in with a game plan. No,
- 48:51Speaker 1: I do too, I just don't know what it is
- 48:53Speaker 1: and when it will and you obviously do you know.
- 48:55Speaker 1: So I can't argue with you. You're you're talking about
- 48:58Speaker 1: something completely subjective that I can't quanta. I don't understand it,
- 49:02Speaker 1: so you know more about it than I do. What
- 49:03Speaker 1: do you want me to tell you? Okay? I mean
- 49:05Speaker 1: that's fair. I mean I can't. I can't. I can't
- 49:08Speaker 1: make it any play that When you started talking about
- 49:11Speaker 1: Belichick and Mayo putting guys in positions more effectively than
- 49:15Speaker 1: they did last year. I can't argue with you. I
- 49:18Speaker 1: can't tell you I'm talking about. I can't tell you're wrong.
- 49:20Speaker 1: I have no idea I'm talking about as a season,
- 49:23Speaker 1: go right. I can't and I can't argue with that
- 49:25Speaker 1: because I don't have anything tangible to point to. I
- 49:27Speaker 1: asked for some examples. You didn't have any. We'll move on.
- 49:30Speaker 1: I mean, I can go and list all the good
- 49:32Speaker 1: plays this year. Is that what you want? No? But like,
- 49:34Speaker 1: is a good play like Matthew jude On stripped Jared Goff,
- 49:38Speaker 1: Is that's because of like Gerard Mayo and Steve Belichick
- 49:41Speaker 1: putting in a position to succeed. He made a great play.
- 49:44Speaker 1: But they're not putting jude On in and every play,
- 49:46Speaker 1: you know, like he's what he's doing, Like what sixty
- 49:49Speaker 1: the snaps in that game he did? Yeah, you know,
- 49:51Speaker 1: So there's some thinking behind that. Okay, So that's why
- 49:54Speaker 1: I said I thought the defense was better Sunday. Okay,
- 49:58Speaker 1: But there's some thinking. But there is no evidence of
- 50:00Speaker 1: these things that you're talking about going on in the
- 50:02Speaker 1: previous two games. I think there is. They didn't win
- 50:05Speaker 1: that you know they didn't shut down a team like
- 50:08Speaker 1: they did on Sunday, but I think there is evidence
- 50:10Speaker 1: of guys figuring it out and getting better. I really do, well, Paul,
- 50:15Speaker 1: how do you feel about them carrying that performance over
- 50:17Speaker 1: into next week? Though? I mean, that's not the heart
- 50:19Speaker 1: of it. You don't feel like they're gonna me. I
- 50:22Speaker 1: went down, I fell for the tailpipe last year. I
- 50:24Speaker 1: think it'll be fine this week because you're playing another
- 50:27Speaker 1: team that can't do that. But eventually you're going to
- 50:30Speaker 1: see good quarterbacks when you have to worry about both things.
- 50:34Speaker 1: And then I worry. Yeah, And like I said, by then,
- 50:38Speaker 1: I don't think there's any chance they could stop Buffalo zero.
- 50:41Speaker 1: Fred obviously has hope that they'll be better by then,
- 50:44Speaker 1: right right, I don't. Right now, there's no way they
- 50:47Speaker 1: would be Buffalo And maybe by then they haven't improved enough.
- 50:51Speaker 1: Even by then, they'll be borrowing a rash of injuries.
- 50:53Speaker 1: They ain't slowing Buffalo down. No, that's I look more
- 50:56Speaker 1: to the offensive side. Not to change the subject, but like, well,
- 50:59Speaker 1: they can't. For me. That's like, you're not gonna start,
- 51:02Speaker 1: You're not gonna I'm not, like I know, I come
- 51:05Speaker 1: off as being, you know, ridiculously stubborn and come off
- 51:09Speaker 1: that way. I'm not trying to do that. And I
- 51:11Speaker 1: thought they played great trying I thought they played great
- 51:14Speaker 1: on Sunday. You think they played like they did on
- 51:16Speaker 1: Sunday every game. That's what we disagree. Did I ever
- 51:19Speaker 1: say that? I did I say they're improving? There was
- 51:22Speaker 1: nothing that I did. I say what they played the
- 51:24Speaker 1: same way Sunday. It's the rest of the season. Did
- 51:27Speaker 1: I ever say that? Did I? You said they were
- 51:30Speaker 1: improving every week? Does that mean everything? I disagreed with? Okay,
- 51:35Speaker 1: h yeah, all right. I think people are enjoying this though. Yeah,
- 51:40Speaker 1: there we go. We got nice We got a nice
- 51:43Speaker 1: a nice little illustration there and the next big thing
- 51:45Speaker 1: on YouTube somebody else is crazy enough to have us
- 51:48Speaker 1: on their big screen right now too, So um, that
- 51:51Speaker 1: is crazy talk about four k um. All right, let's
- 51:56Speaker 1: go to back to the phones. People holding on Dwayne's
- 51:59Speaker 1: in Boston. What's oh, Dwayne just hung up. Let's go
- 52:03Speaker 1: to Leon and Wisconsin. What's up Leon. I don't know
- 52:08Speaker 1: if you guys tosted on this already, but with Dadian
- 52:10Speaker 1: Harris out, um, who are we going to compliment Mandre
- 52:13Speaker 1: Stevenson in the backfield. Are we gonna possibly elevate Pierre Strong,
- 52:17Speaker 1: J J. Taylor or do something like we did in
- 52:19Speaker 1: twenty fifteen to bring someone like Stephen Jackson into the
- 52:22Speaker 1: running hole Groom, No, I think they'll go with what
- 52:24Speaker 1: they've got, and you know, all the guys you just
- 52:27Speaker 1: mentioned are candidates, and probably JJ Taylor because of his experience.
- 52:30Speaker 1: But wouldn't surprise me to see Pierre Strong activated as well,
- 52:35Speaker 1: you know, Yeah, well, I mean yeah, I definitely feel
- 52:38Speaker 1: like this would be the perfect situation. If we had
- 52:40Speaker 1: James White still, it would be would be pretty solid
- 52:43Speaker 1: there as well. But with time Montgomery out as well,
- 52:46Speaker 1: that kind of hurts, Yes, it does. Yeah, we all
- 52:50Speaker 1: thought he'd be might be a factor this year. Yeah,
- 52:53Speaker 1: we'll see, there's still time. Thanks Leon. All Right, we're
- 52:56Speaker 1: gonna go to a break because Evan's back from practice,
- 52:58Speaker 1: um and we'll get him that after this. But before
- 53:01Speaker 1: we go, I want to tell you that Bridgestone is

- 1:04:08Speaker 1: I had to listen to his system quarterback, it's all
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: dancin dunk. He's an average. Those people are out there
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: have been disproven. You know those people, Yes, and they've
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: done quiet when they when the league in touchdown passes.
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: But still there where people that would come after you
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: the whole into the twenty fifteen, twenty sixteen. That's what
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: all the whole time. He's really he's really he's the
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: he's on the wall. I don't care on the wall.
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: I don't care about the wall. Fifteen and twenty sixteen,
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: there wasn't a lot of people saying that, Yeah, he's
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: not that good, he's just a game man. He might
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: have gone away. You'd be surprised, I really think, I mean,
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: especially in your chamber. I can imagine. I'm not surprised
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: that you heard it. I just don't. I just don't
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: think that was very prevalent. I think there was, like
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: you know Max Kellerman's and you know Eric Skellvinos. I
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: think that a lot of the game manager dink and
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: dunk things went away for good. In a sent yes,
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: when he said all the records right, he showed you
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: I could do it you away, I could do it
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: my way. It doesn't matter. I could do it. It's
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: the same argument I used when I get into it
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: on on social media. Douce he finds them and now
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: he hates something. That's another great moment from Hey Patriots fans,

- 1:05:52Speaker 1: from practice. It's a catchy jingle in the video feed.
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: We're all just yea and looking at our phones. So
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: Evan give us the four one one. Another day and
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: another day of perfect attendance on the fifty three man
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: roster for the Patriots. Everybody practiced in some capacity yesterday.
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: Even Damien Harris was listed as limited. Mac Jones limited
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: again yesterday. Looks like he's doing the same things or
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: similar things out there Todaynee brace on, flip card on
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: this flappy flapping around, flapping around, so you know, um,
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: no lower pads today, just shells and shorts or sweats
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: or whatever they feel like wearing. So perfect attendants on
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: the fifty three man roster. Little Jordan Humphrey is back
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: in the building. Not sure he ever really left. He
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: had a locker in the locker room yesterday and he
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: was back out there at practice today. Kicker Tristan Viscayano
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: missing from the practice squad. So if you added up
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: connect the dots, sounds like Viscayano has lost a spot
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: on the practice squad and little Jordan Humphrey has taken
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: the spot. Okay, sorry, yeah, backup, kicker. Okay, folks, been
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: great and uh overcast today out the overcast not raining yet,
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: but they are projecting rain later on in practice, and
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: my understanding is that the team will be staying out
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: there for practice in the rain if it does indeed rain.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: So unlike last week when we went inside the bubble,
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: no no bubble in the rain today? Yeah. Was there
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: a large media contingency or it was good media contingency.
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: I think a lot of people are coming for this
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: quarterback thing for the end. They just want what we're
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: watching right now on NBC Sports Boston, Mac Jones throwing
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: the football to some equipment manager or something like that,
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: not to pick on the guy catching the ball, just saying,
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: you know, it's not to a receiver and it's against air.
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: But this is enough for people right now. Yeah. So
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: when you combine the media being interested in what Max's
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: gonna do, and you know, the overcast weather in shells,
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: what would you say the mood is I would say
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: the mood is a little bit shoulder pats ancy fancy,
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: because I think that this quarterback. I keep calling it
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: a thing because I can't really think. I don't want
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: to call it a controversy because I think that's going
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: way too far, So let's call it a thing. I
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: think that some people last night, just a little inside baseball,
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: we waited quite a while for mister Zappi to come
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: to the podium after locker room closed, and I think
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: there are some feelings out there that are you know,
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: let's see what happens here. Let's let's get to Sunday.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: And I always wonder, like, what's the message that Belichick
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: is giving the team from week to week? And we
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: know that after the twenty nine nothing when you know,
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: he was in pretty good mood, you know, after the
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: game on Monday, even you know yesterday day, he was
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: a pretty good move. But I'm sure he's trying to
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: level set his team, making sure that nothing in that game,
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: you know, gets carried over in terms of cockiness, you know.
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: So I'm sure that he's making sure that this is
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: you know, we're still not that good. Yeah, we still
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: have a long way to go. It's a new kind
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: of team too. I think he's got to push the
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: right buttons. But I just observation real quick is we're
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: showing some of the practice. Of course they go right
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: away from it, but it seemed to me like Mac
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: had his shoulder pads on the other two guys just
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: had kind of shells underneath. I mean, I don't know
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: if that's that seems like a weird Mac thing to me,
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: like something he would do where he's like, no, I'm
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: wearing my pats today. Yeah, maybe just that's something something
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: that's something that I wonder too. You know, he hasn't
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: played in a game in a couple of weeks, so
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: how much has he been wearing the shoulder pads, So
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: if he's trying to gear it back up, maybe throwing
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: in the pads like Brady would always throw in the
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: pads right, like even in the off season in his
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: backyard you see the TV twelve stuff, and he'd be
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: in full shoulder pads because that's what you play. That's
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: a point, yeah, you know't playing shells. So I think
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: it's significant. I mean, I think it says something about
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: I mean, things seem like they're definitely ramping up and
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: and he's maybe making some strides to make sure. Listen,
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: if I'm if I'm the coaches, I don't start Mac
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: unless he can run around and avoid the rush. If
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: he's limited anyway in that respect, Yeah, I'm not. I'm
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: not playing him, but just have a little that's just
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: me like a little team game of tag, and like
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: if he can't get away, then you know you're out.
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: If you can win tag. Right now, it's like old
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: school yeahs to wrench all right? Any other anything else
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: you want to add Evan before just on those lines.
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: I hate to be a body language doctor, but just
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: based off of his look, just how he's throwing the ball,
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: how he's carried himself, it's different than what we saw
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: last week. What does that mean anything? I have no
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: idea what. I guess we'll find out on Sunday. But
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: it's different in terms of like his focus right, Like
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: you can kind of see that Mac, that Macy back
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: out there where he's kind of got that that confidence
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: in that swagger back a little bit and isn't just
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: kind of limping around out there and going through the motions.
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: So I definitely think that he feels closer, and whether
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: it's this week or next week or whatever, I guess
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: we'll ultimately be a probably a Belichick. So Zappy talked yesterday,
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: which means the quarterback you know, the mandatory quarterback talk.
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: You know, press conference is done, so you know they
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: don't have to Mac doesn't have to talk this week,
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: and if he starts, they could say, well, you know,
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: at the time Wednesday, you know he wasn't ready, but
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: now he's ready and he's our starter. Yeah, I mean limited.
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: I mean tomorrow's injury report is always an interesting moment
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: if they're gonna roll anybody out. I mean two weeks
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: ago they did rule Mac out, but I think last
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: two geek he's doubtful. Um, so we'll see. Maybe he
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: gets to questionable on Friday and then and then he's
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: got a chance. It could be a big week for
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: the Saturday downgrade. Oh yeah, because it's travel if you know, right, yeah,
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: you'll get that people. If people don't know when you're
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: the traveling team, if a player doesn't travel, you have
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: to downgrade him to out that Saturday. You can't wait
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: until the Sunday report. You have to tell everybody that
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: the player didn't travel and thus he's out. Yeah, we
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: spoke to Zappy yesterday, like you said, and a couple
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: of questions. You know that the media is going to
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: come right at him and be like, so you started
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: on Sunday or what? And he was asked, you know,
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: are you preparing to be the starter? You know, what's
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: sort of the vibe? What are they kind of asking
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: you to do at practice this week? And all he
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: would say was taking advantage of the reps they're giving
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: me and doing trying to help the team. However, I
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: can you know things like that? And I thought, and
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: the good Lord willing right. A couple of weeks ago,
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: I would say, I think it was probably after Baltimore,
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: after Mac's original injury. He gave a more convincing answer
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: of you know, I always prepare to be the starter
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: even when I'm not going to be the starter type
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: of answer. This week, it was just taking the reps
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: they're giving me. So I don't know. I think that
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: there is a little bit going on there that Mac
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: is trying to creep back in. Okay, I wish you
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: were there to ask him what the mood was. That
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: would have probably been you could have gotten out of him,
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: probably Billy. What was the mood? Oh yeah, somebody asked
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: him if Mac was taking reps at practice and he's like,
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: that's a question for coach Beligian. Nope, nope, not getting
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: in trouble. All right, eight five five Passive Hotline. We'll
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: take some more calls and emails before pick start in
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: a few moments. We'll start with Sean and Vancouver. What's
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: up Sean? Hey, fred, I got a couple of things.
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: One question for Evan. I really like your polo shirt.
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: I'm looking on the Thank You pat store and I
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: can't really figure out what exactly which one end is though.
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: I don't know if you can said it's a Tommy
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: Bahama take that guy on social media attacks her outfit
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: with the with the pat Patriot logo. Yeah, is a gift.
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: You look fantastic. I have to ask, who are you wearing?
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: Tommy b Okay, there is a Tommy Bahama one on there,
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: so I look. The other thing I want to talk
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: about is moving prod it running back Stevenson I think
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: gives the Patriots a better look when even though I
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: like Harris, I think he's great, great, you know, power
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: back and he hits the holes hard. It's just I
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: think the Patriots are less predictable with Stevenson being the
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: lead back because you can't really determine if they're going
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: to be doing some play action or they're they're going
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: to be running or passing at that point where you know,
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: you see Stevenson at times sometimes even run from the shotgun,
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: where Harris wouldn't do that. So I think for that
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: reason you find that maybe there's less pressure coming at
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: at zappy because the blitz isn't as strong since they're
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: not defenses aren't really determining right at the look what's
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: going to happen? What do you think? I don't know
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: the amount of times that you know, you know, Harris
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: first Stevenson out of the shotgun and there's an inside
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: handoff or a draw something like that. I don't know
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: the numbers, but it doesn't seem like, you know, Stevenson
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: right now is a big threat to catch the ball yet,
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: you know, not like James White was. Yeah, downfield, I
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: mean some little like slip out and you know, check
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: down kind of stuff, but yeah he does. He's lined
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: up wide a couple of times though, right maybe a
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: few ye his splits are fifty seven forty three pass
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: right in favor of the pass. So he's been on
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: the field more for passing plays than running plays Harris.
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: That would not be the case with last year. Harris
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: was sixty percent run on the snaps that he played,
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: so definitely more involved in the passing. He definitely more
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: involved on third down. He's already outsnapped Harris all last
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: year on third down in the first five weeks of
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: the season. So you're using Stevenson a lot more in
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: passing game situations. I think the one time where other
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: than screens, because he caught that screen last week against
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: the Troy, made like three guys missed. It was a
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: good play. He had an angle route over the middle
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: against Green Bay where he was a shoe string tackle.
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: He was really close to breaking it, and I think
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: that was probably the best route that I've seen him run,
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: Like shake a guy at the top of the route,
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: get yourself open and get into a potential, you know,
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: space opportunity. He just got tackled. You know. People have
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: said it, and I'm probably Bill would agree. He's definitely
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: established himself as an every down back he can be
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: that well. It was a huge area of emphasis in
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: the offseason was thanks to make sure that they were
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: throwing with Harris and Stevenson on the field more than
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: they did last year, to be less predictable. And I
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: don't really, I mean, it's great if you can get
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: those guys involved as receivers obviously, you know, I guess,
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: especially a guy like Stevenson, you get him in space,
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: that slant that Evan's talking about against Green Bay would
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: looked like it was a hair away from being a
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: really big play. But I don't. I'm not as worried
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: about them catching the ball as I am that they're
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: throwing the ball when they're on the field, and I
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: think they have done that more this year, and the
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: numbers for Stevenson obviously back there. Yeah, I mean, just
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: even some of the early snaps, like in the second
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: half where they went, you know, six ozl Andy brought
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: cannon on play action, you know, trying to hit guys.
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: I mean, it's just it seems like they're or whatever.
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: I just I'm curious what it's going to look like
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: now with with Harris presumably out. Yeah, you know, how
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: do they how do they divvy up the roles? We've
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: been talking. Yeah, I mean you want Stevenson to be
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: available in December, so yeah, you have to think about that.
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: You know, you don't want to give them thirty five carries,
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: you know, until Harris gets better. You have to figure
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: it out. I mean it must be attempting with with
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: you know what you've seen from Cleveland's run defense. But
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: I mean that's that's why I'll be a little disappointed.
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: I mean, no offense to J. J. Taylor, but you know,
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: just you drafted those two guys. I would love to
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: see one of those two rookies, you know, just get
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: a chance get their feet wet. I mean, we've seen
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: the success that some of the rookies have had getting
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: their feet wet, Marcus Jones as an example lately, you know,
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: getting slowly involved a little bit, would be great to
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: get you know, one of those guys. Just I mean,
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: even if it like we said yesterday, Harris with the
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: early down stuff, just don't fumble all or else you
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: might not see the ball again until next year. Yeah,
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: it's a I think it's funny though, because the predictability
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: thing is always something that I hear. But their numbers
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: are actually terrific. With Damien Harris even as predictable as
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: he was last year on the field because the play action,
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: because teams are expecting run because he's sixty percent run,
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: and then you hit him with the play action, and
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: even though he's not catching the ball or really a
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: big factor in the passing game, they were really efficient
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: off of play actions. So in some ways the tell
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: can work in their favor because everybody's selling out against
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: the run and then you hit him with the fake
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: and all of a sudden it goes over their heads.
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: But I hear people when they say that it's a
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: little bit predictable, But I think there is a little
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: bit of a method to the madness in the early
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: down sequencing Mike's and Puerto Rico. What's up, Mike? How
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: are you doing? How's everybody doing? Today's great good? I
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: have to agree. I see Romandi out there, and I
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: don't know if anybody else that's the same thing. Whenever
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: I see him get the ball. The first thing that
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: comes from ears like Ron wrong run and the affiliate
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: they just have to move around and just thinks a
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: lot more aggressive and assertive when he's out there. Um
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: just trying to get down fields and make them most
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: out of every single yard, and now you're starting to
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: see hesitation from the from the defensive players that are
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: coming over to head. But the one thing that I
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: want to and I'm glad Evan is there because I
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: send um, I don't know a tone that I can't
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: really um pin down when he says, I don't know
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: what but what people see out there regarding Bailey versus Max,
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: And the more I see of Bailey and Paul and
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: Evan may laugh at this, like the more I think
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: there's something about the way the team operates, the way
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: the the offense looks, is there's something specific, Dude, do
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: we see practice every day? We don't, But there's just
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: a feeling out there when he is playing that just
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: lose a little bit more efficient, a little bit more effective,
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: like things are going the way that they're supposed to,
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: and there's not that sense of dread of that just
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: don't make a mistake, Just don't make a mistake, Whereas
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: in the last couple of games from MAC, I've been
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: looking at it and you know, it's like, just don't
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: you know, just play safe, just be smart, just be smart.
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: And I just don't feel like I don't I can't
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: qualify it, but I just don't have those thoughts running
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: through my head when I see Bailey out there. How
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: did how did you feel about Mac last year? Though?
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: I mean, have you you've just the last couple of
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: games is what you've have made you lost confidence in
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: Mac and made you feel like you just want him
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: to avoid mistakes. Um. I thought there was a lot
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: of managing um obviously at the beginning of the season,
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: not letting him throw the ball along and stuff like that.
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: And I don't know if if McDaniels or the team
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: ever actually came out at any pointy time and admitted
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: it that they were throwling him down, like just limiting
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: his options. But then maybe he just got a little
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: too too loose, I don't know, maybe a little too
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: confident with the offense or confidence in in his ability.
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: But um, it just started at the end of last
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: year even at the beginning of this year, like I
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: just don't feel comfortable with him out there. And I
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: don't know if it might be the poppy with fan
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: or well there I'm with you. I just how can
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: you say thanks that they manage the games last year
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: for Mac and that's why he was less turnover prone,
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: but then not say they're managing the game for Baylor,
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: right right. It disappointed me. I think there was a
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: chance that we could have got an even explosion. No,
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: but I just I think I think max Max mistakes
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: this year are you know, a result of you know,
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: making more chance, making more plays, make it, Yeah, trying
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: to make more plays. Some I think some of them
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: too are some of them are Some of them are bad,
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: you know, but I point stands trying to get it downfield.
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: I mean, I think that's something they had to do.
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: I just want to see what's it looked like with Thord.
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: The first pick in the Baltimore game was really bad.
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: That was the when the linebacker was there and I
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: don't think he ever saw the line. You threw it
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: right to a linebacker. Wasn't a great play design? Sorry,
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: yeah no, but I'm just saying, you still gotta you
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: can't just throw the ball now when there's a guy
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: standing and you threw it right to a guy and
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: the other team. The other plays I don't really look
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: at is like wild interceptions the way a lot of
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: other people And now I feel like I'm turning into
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: a macapologist and I've never been there. Well remember how
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: the season started. But he throws the interception in the
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: end zone, right, it was you know, it was a
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: bad throw. It under thrown, and that mindset for the
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: fans carries over, you know, that mistake and oh then
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: he has another mistake, you know. But my my bigger
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: thing is not about Mac. It's about Zappy and what
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: you know. And I know that the caller was directing
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: at Evan and I don't you know, he can speak
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: for himself, but like the whole notion that you keep saying,
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: what are you seeing? Yeah, from Zappy? And what I
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: see is like a lack of production in general. So like,
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: I can't tell a guy how to feel. And the
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: guy says he feels no dread, like no one asked
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: him to do anything. I like. But part of that
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: is but that's fine. He felt dread when Mack was
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: out there, and he did. He doesn't feel that when
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: Zappy was, except for they scored points in the Baltimore
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: game and they really haven't scored any points on offense
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: and when when Zappi's played, I'm not blaming Zappy for that.
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: He's a third string quarterback playing his first couple of games.
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: They obviously have a very tight leash on him, but
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: they're not really moving the ball and scoring points all that. Well,
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: They're kicking some field goals here and there on short fields.
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: That's about it. Against against Baltimore, I thought they played
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: really well offensively, And yes, they made some mistakes which
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: which cost them a chance to ultimately win the game.
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: But I would take the plays they made in the
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: Baltimore game over anything I've seen the last two games
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: offensively easily. Yeah, let's go to Jim and Connecticut. What's
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: up Jim? Hey Fred, how are you doing? Love the show?
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: I just want to make a point quick of all,
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: Paul being my brothers relationship where we have knocked down
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: you shoulder a few minutes later. Yeah, oh yeah. Um,
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: I just want to make some points about the defense
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: about this year. I thought the defense is okay, and
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: during the Baltimore game, actually, um, you know, the defense
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: didn't played great. But also you know, I have some
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: turnover to stuff. But um, I thought the kind of
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: it played competitive to a really good team, and I
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: thought that was good. But um the thing about that
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: game that I think hurts too is I think Dugger
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: was out and I think he would have helped a
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: lot of help and cover Mark Mark Daniels a tight
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: end for Baltimore. Can't hurt having him in Andrews. Mark
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: Daniels is tough like every game pretty much mostly like
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: yeah him and Phillips. Yeah, yeah, all right. I think
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: he certainly would have helped with Lamar Jackson's running because
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: I think he's an excellent tackler. Yeah, yeah, I'm glad
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: the defense though, has like starting to get a base
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: of young players now, like Barmore and Jones. But I think,
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: what do you guys think about it? I'm not big
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: on free agent, but what do you think about like
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: a rope Clan Smith, it's a free agent because getting
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: the young linebackers almost like a Stefan Gilmore. We pay
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: too much too early, but then in time it's a
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: better um value later on. Yeah, I mean, I'd be
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: all for it. I just I wonder how this is
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: all gonna how this is all gonna play and into
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: next year with you know what do they see this
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: year out of mac wilson and McMillan and to buy
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: and all these guys are on one year deals, so
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: they're gonna have to rejigger this linebacker group somewhat. Well,
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: I'm worried about Week six. Yeah, me too, But Roquin
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: is not really their type of linebacker that's saying. I mean,
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: why is that he's undersized? You know, he's a great player.
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: I'm not saying he's not a good player. I just
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean maybe the mac Wilson signing
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: or trade it kind of signals that they're at least
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: looking at a different prototype at linebacker. But they can't
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: get mac Wilson on the field because of his you know,
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: issues that they knew schematically they probably were going to have.
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: So I don't know. It's great player. I just don't
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: know paying that guy that kind of money when he
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: doesn't really fit what you do is the best idea,
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: And I like, you know me, Fred, I'd never care
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: about the money. I'm not sure how much money, because
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: it is kind of a position that doesn't break the bank. Yeh,
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: that's true. Yeah, you're looking at double digits at least.
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: Oh well, yeah, I mean if you want a player,
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, that kind of like bass. I mean,
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: get double digits to Nelson Aggalore, god sakes, I mean, yeah,
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: Williams and fellam. What's up William what's going on for it?
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: How are you doing good? Okay? Um? Just two questions
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: an I'm out your way. One is, um, can you
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: give me a player that you would want on the
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: team though I were a position, like a realistic you
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: know if as a trade whatever, who you would want though,
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: just realistic think of it like you're being Bill Billichick,
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: be like, who would you want on the team for
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: trade this year? Like before the deadline? Or like are
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: you including like next year? Two? Yeah, you could say, well,
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: now I'm gonna say I'm gonna stick to this year.
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: So something before the deadline this year? Right, God, there's
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: a lot of names out there, Like I'm trying to
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: think like realistically though. So there's a name that I
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: threw out there yesterday on the on Catch twenty two
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: check it out two to three pm Wednesdays. Uh. That
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: is on Carolina. Interesting situation going on there, Derek Brown,
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: nose tackle on the Panthers, former seventh overall pick, not
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: living up to that billing because he's a nose tackle
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: and let's face it, he's not gonna put up the
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: stats that people want. A seventh overall pick to put up.
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: But he's got the two gap nose tackle mold down
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: to a t. Here. You're not looking for him to
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: be a top ten type of production guy. And I
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: really think ultimately, I think as a good player no
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: matter where you lie him up. But I think ultimately
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: he's better off the nose than he is on the nose.
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: Might be able to free him up. And you got
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: the twenty eighth ranked run defense in the league by
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: dv Oa. You had another three hundred and thirty pound
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: guy in the middle of the defense. It's only going
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: to help with that problem. So if there's anybody on
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: the Panthers roster that I think all the talk about
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: wide receivers is ridiculous, they don't. They already have too
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: many wide Receivershi Banning, Robbie Anderson in and I don't
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: think those guys would represent a demonstrative improvement, right. And
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: I like DJ Moore, but you don't like how much
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: better was he than all the guys you have, right?
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: So yeah, I would look at Derek Brown. I know
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: they also really like to take those guys that they
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: didn't have a chance to get in the draft. I'm
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: sure that they love his former first round I am
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: sure they had Derek Brown granted out extremely highly coming
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: out of Auburn, just the way he plays. What year
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: he's in his fourth year, ninth, so he has that
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: kid chair off. He was there when we went to
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: the first combine. Yeah, I just got my first inkling.
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: Like I listen, I know Carolina is probably going to
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: be selling off a lot of pieces, but I'm not
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: sure it makes a lot of sense to sell young pieces.
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: But he might be far enough along that he could
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: be available. I mean, what position would you go to though,
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: I mean, just looking at the Patriots roster, not even
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: considering a specific not necessarily wanting to bring up the
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: Roquan Smith thing, but like I would love an athletic
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: inside linebacker. M So maybe Bentley's not playing as much.
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: But you know, like I don't know how realistic, you know,
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: Like I'm trying to like really like that's a realistic
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: option that Evan gave there with Derek. Like that, that's
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: a kind of guy that I could see Bill being
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: interested in. He loves former first round picks that don't
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: pan out because he can get more out of them,
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: and he would like odd front nose tackle. That's Derek
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: Brown's role. But Bentley's tough because Jonathan Sullivan's rule to him.
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: He certainly has some limitations in coverage and we in space,
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: we all know that. But they need a linebacker, especially
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: they're running a lot of this you know, five one
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: front where there's really only one true inside linebacker off
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: the ball, and they need somebody that can play A
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: and B gap and hold up. And if like hold up,
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: I mean that that's kind of not necessarily in line
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: with the ex's knows that you were just talking all
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: but just that position. I think I think that they
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: rolled the dice and said we don't need it in
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: the draft. And most of the guys that I think
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: they were looking at feeling big roles have yet to
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: really feel a big role. I think is emergent promising, yeah,
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: you know, you know, and maybe ray Kwon McMillan's quiet
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: start was was more health related, and maybe he I mean,
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: he made a play the other day. So maybe you
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: get more out of those two guys, say, in two weeks,
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: than you did in the previous three. It's just tough
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: because if you're going to play this style of defense
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: is three three five that they're playing, you're leaving the
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: guards uncovered on the line of scrimmage. And so if
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: you have a two hundred and thirty pound linebacker at
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: the second level and they're pulling guards towards them, it's
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: game over. So the only guy that they had, I mean,
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: I think McMillan, he showed he had one or two
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: plays last week where he was able to blow up
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: a puller or a guy climbing to the second level
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: and make a play. One of them he shot the gap.
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: So those are plays that maybe that he can start
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: to emerge a little bit more because he has a
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: little bit of a downhill thump to him as well.
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: But if you're going to play this kind of system
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: and you're gonna put a two hundred and twenty five
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: linebacker there at the second level, it's not going to
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: work out. I mean, they need to have somebody there
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: that can take on blocks. I know that frustrates some people,
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: but but I mean, is it too much to ask
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: that they can take on blocks and make plays like
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: That's what I feel like. I feel like Bentley's great
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: at taking on blocks, but he just don't get off.
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: I mean, they don't make plays, you know, like it's fine,
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: you just we need a kamikaze to run into guards,
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: like you know, but like at a certain point, like
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: where I'm getting to is like, you know, and I
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: think that McMillan play you talked about where it was like, hey,
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: met a guy in the hole, shed them made the tackle,
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: Like why did that look so novel to me? You know,
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: it doesn't happen enough. You talk about what their rank lasting.
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: I mean, I think they're thirty second in stuffed runs,
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: so you know, like they're not making places behind the
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: line of scrimmage at the terrible rate. So I don't
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: know that's that's just I mean, I get everything you're
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: saying about with the style they're playing. I just the
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: frustrating thing for me is that linebackers don't make plays.
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: And this is where I'm I will side with Fred
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: like that their numbers are terrible in that, but I
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: saw improvement in that area certainly. I mean to I
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: think they had I don't know how many, but the
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: fourth and one. It's just hard loss if you have
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: I think the point I agree with you totally Mike,
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: that they don't make enough splash plays at the second
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: level from the linebacker group. But the problem is is
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: that it's like, you know, a chicken or the egg
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: situation because they need the two hundred and fifty five
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: pound linebacker to plug the being a gaps against the
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: run because of the style of front that they're playing.
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: But that those guys don't have playmaking. They don't have speed, right,
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: they don't have the playmaking qualities that other guys have.
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: So what I find interesting is they they trade for
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: a guy like Mac Wilson, for example, but they didn't
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: change the front, like they didn't change the side with right.
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: They're just asking him to deal with it essentially. So
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: that's the problem is like how many people are walking
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: on this planet that are two hundred and sixty pounds
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: that can also grange sideline to sideline and also cover
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: and also take on blocks Like I think Prime Jamie
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: Collins is like a cyborg in that respect, right that
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: he was able to do all those things. He wasn't
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: a great run player now because of yeah, because of
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: his his play recognition, but those are the things that
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: you know, you can't have it one way or another.
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: And like a teams that have these lighter linebackers typically
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: play out of a four to three so that they
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: can get more guys to cover gaps on the line
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: of scrimmage. And the Patriots are three fourteen. All right,
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: one more call and then we'll get to the picks.
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: Will's in the barber shop. What's up, Will? Are you
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: doing guys? You getting the junior boys regular? Yes, sir? Okay.
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: So I just have two points I want to touch
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: on today. One of them is I really like what
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: they did with the offensive line last week. I believe
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: that they were stacking Isaiah When and MICUs Cannon on
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: one side, and Cannon was reporting as eligible to help
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: with the run. I thought that was really really awesome
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: to help them, you know, move the ball on the
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: ground a lot more. Yep. And I think that the
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: second point I wanted to make was, you know, the
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: friend point, like they're gonna throw all their progressions early on.
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: I think everybody's just losing their shirt over Bailey z Appy,
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: and I think they just need to pump the brakes
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: a little bit, you know. I think Mac Jones is
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: a much more capable quarterback at this point. And I
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: just think that people have such recency bias against Mac
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: Jones that they're just really kind of blindfolded by I know,
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: it's it's crazy. Yeah, that's why it's a good thing
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: that we have people who know what they're looking at
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: running the team and not the fans. Yeah kidding, I
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: heard all reaching the show. Yeah all right, well thanks, well,
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: appreciate your calling in. All right, it's that time of
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: the week. Follow what happened last week? All right? Last
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: week Fred back from the dead twelve and four, don't
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: get too excited, followed by Mike and Paul at eleven
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: and five, five and Evan ten and six. So a
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: good week, So a good week for everybody. Last week
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: we're all solid winning record with the spread. Mike and
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: Paul nine six and one, Evan six nine and one,
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: and Fred five ten and one. How does that? How
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: did that happen? It's not a good year. That's got
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: to be very rare when somebody wins the straight up
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: but then a dead last in the Wow. Listen for example,
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: that I picked the Patriots to not cover. As you know,
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: I'm not a numbers guy, so I don't have it um.
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: So overall the standings, RS follows Paul no surprise for
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: fifty twenty nine and one, followed by Mike and Fred
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: at forty four, thirty five and one, Evans twenty two
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: and ten. I'll take it, yeah, alex Is thirty and
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: eighteen Um and Tamarrow was still only picked one week
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: at seven eight and one. You stiffed me with the pixel.
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: I was really upset about it when the game started.
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: I literally you forgot. It's okay, It's all right. You
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: can always write him down and he can fill it well.
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: When I'm not on the show on Thursdays, she sends
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: me on the slack and about eight days later I
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: find him. I'm just I don't know. Um with the
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: Spread again, no surprise, Paul forty six, thirty two and two,
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: followed by Mike, who was found his way to the
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: five hundred mark. Congrats to you, Mike thirty nine, thirty
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: nine and two. Evan is also at the five hundred
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: mark at fifteen, fifteen and two, alex Is twenty two,
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: twenty five and two, and Fred twenty nine forty nine two. Wow,
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: I was like me last year. Epic bad turn around?
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: All right? The the The Against the Spread comeback starts
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: this week and tonight eight fifteen on Prime Video. It's
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: the Commanders at one and four, traveling to the two
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: and eight, two and three, two and two and three
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: Chicago Bears um Chicago by one in a game that
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: auto set the league back decades. Yes it should. Of course,
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: the Commanders are in the news. So how how ironic
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: that they just happened to be playing tonight. Um, I'm
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: gonna go back to that thing, the caller said, two
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: bad teams. I'm gonna I'm gonna go with Chicago and
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: kill Harry Factor. Give me the home team. I'll lay
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: the point. Do you hear? By the way, what Rivera
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: said about the quarterback the course, I mean he I
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: thought he did a good job of damage control afterwards,
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: but what was his damage control? What did he do well?
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: How do you damage He threw himself on the store
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: and he was like that Sid it was you know,
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: it was a dumb comment. I you know, I pride
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: myself on not being a distraction. We preached that, We've
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: addressed it, he addressed in the team meeting. He I mean,
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: he apologized for it, but can't take it back. It's
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: out there when he's going back. He was just being
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: honest right forever, right, Sorry for the honesty. Alex, what
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: do you got Chicago by one? I'm gonna I'm gonna
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: change it up. I'm gonna go Washington and really yeah,
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: I give them. I don't know, maybe they rally around
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: this news and we're not a dysfunctional organization. Our coaches
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: throwing the quarterback under the bus. We're not blackmailing all
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: the other owners. Yeah, I think it'd be fun to see,
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: So I want to speak it into existence. Okay, when
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: Washington against spread and Washington to win. Oh, sorry, Evan,
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: I'm taking the Bears. Bears. The best thing about this
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: game is the Bears running game, so I'm going to
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: count on the Bears. I think the best game is
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: those orange helmets, which I think look really cool. I
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: will take the Bears as well. Bears Bears win, setting
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: up a big five hundred. Oh I think I just
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: got a peek into Fred's pick later in the show. Um,
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: Sunday at one, the three and two four nine Ers
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: are at the two and three Falcons San Francisco, Buy
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: five and a half. I think this game is actually
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: at nine thirty on this based off this schedule. Oh yeah,
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: Oh was it a are we Internet? Yeah? The NFL
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: dot com has it at one, but they don't even
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: have a nine thirty games at a London game. I
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: didn't know this is merced then this this is very
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: very well wrong, Evan, So don't go off on my show. Yeah,
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: they don't have an anyway. San Francisco's buy five and
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: a half five and a half. Uh yeah, I'm gonna
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: I'm gonna take Jimmy G on the road. I San
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: Francisco is a little bit weird, but I think I
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: think they'll get the jot down against the Falcons. Alex okay,
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: San Fran, San Fran, Evan. I'm taking San Francisco to win,
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: but I'm taking Atlanta to cover because I like Dean
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: Peace against JIMMG. Peace be with you. Um. I thought
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: about it, but I'm gonna stick with the Niners both ways.
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: That Niners defense is really impact. I don't think it's
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: I don't get through a lot of good defenses in football.
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: That's one of them. At their defenses, del Rio, I
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: will I will take the forty nine ers both an
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: old forty nine Ers both ways. Sunday at one, the
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: three and two Jets are at the three and two Packers,
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: green Bay by seven, seven it's good good good tests
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: for the Jets. I mean they Yeah, I know, three
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: and two not a bad start winning some games. Uh.
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: I gotta go with the hometown pack though, Go Pack
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: go um. But yeah, now I'm gonna lay the points. Yeah,
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: I need Green Bay to put the Jets back in
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: their place. Green Bay both ways. I like Green Bay.
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: I like them both ways too. I feel like the
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: Packers at some point have that level that they're just
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: better than the Jets. Yeah, I think that as well.
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: I think the Jets stink. I think they're going to
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: get better because I think they have all the good
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: young players. I just think it's hard to be good
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: with all first and second year players playing so many
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: key roles. But I will take the points because I
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: don't think Green Bay is all that good. Yeah, I'm
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: with Paul. I say the Jets cover even though Packers
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: went at home. Um, it might be a backdoor cover too,
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: like Green Bayer, I think we'll have the game. I
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: don't think it'll be in jeopardy. Yeah. I don't think
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: the Jets are as bad as Paul thinks they are.
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: I think they're No, I think they're they're stink. Yeah. Well,
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: I think they're just too young. Stink is too too
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: strong of a word that might sink. Yeah, yeah, I don't.
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: I don't mind him. I just I think they have
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: a lot of good young players. I just think it's
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: hard to be really good with all young players and
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: it's young. It's like the youngest roster in the league
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: Sunday at one, one of the youngest, the two and
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: three Jaguars are at the two, two and one Colts
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: Colts by one and a half. Who the tough one,
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: of course, Jacksonville AFC South sneaky tough games to call.
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: I'm really struggling with this one right now. And uh
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: you know, I'm gonna go with Indie at home based
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: on based on that jackson They'll win last year. I
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: feel like they're gonna they're gonna be locked in on
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: this one. I do think Jacksonville is better, but I'm
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: gonna take Indie at home on the way the point
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: and I would say one a half, one and a
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: half Indie Indie. I'm taking the Jacks. These these games,
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: these interdivision games, they have some weird trends, you know,
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: where teams just beat up on each other. And I
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: think Jacksonville is Jacksonville absolutely owns the Colts. They've shut
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: them out in a week two twenty four to nothing
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: or whatever it was. Yeah, Um, I'm gonna I'm gonna
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: buck the trend. I'm gonna go with Indie. I think
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: they had ten days off. I think Jacksonville might be
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: thinking to themselves, we are what everybody thought we were
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: after their disappointing lost last week to Houston. I'm gonna
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: take the Colts, but I don't feel great about it. Yeah,
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: Jacksonville is like a ridiculous heck over the Colts. Yeah,
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: and it's tough to win, you know, beat the same
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: team twice and you're DIVI I am gonna go with
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: Evan Jacksonville wins this game. Um, you definitely want the
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: seen my record. I just like the conviction, you know. Uh.
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: Sunday at one, the four and four and War four
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: and one Vikings are at the three and two Dolphins
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: with their third string quarterback, Minnesota by three and a half. Yes,
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: Skyler Thompson, Teddy's not playing in this game. Not playing. No,
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: he came right out, McDaniel came right out. Ridiculous. Yeah,
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: he's like he's in concussion protocol. And didn't have a concussion. Yeah,
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: it's ridiculous. Yeah, we're going too far the other way.
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: This is what happens. I feel bad it's deiling, not
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: for the Dolphins. Yeah, it's derailing the season though, Like
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: it's not you know whatever. I'm gonna take the Vikings
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: on the road, not on primetime. But I just think
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: it's too much for Miami right now. Yeah, I think
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: it's sorry Minnesota. Well, I like that Minnesota. I'm just
- 1:43:49Speaker 1: watching Tom Brady on NFL Network now doing a press
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: conference here anymore. He never wore a Patriots cap. It
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: was always TV twelve, and now he's got a Tampa
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: Bay cap. Tom's camouflage killing me, You're killing me, and
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: he's got a Tampa Bay shirt on. That's too much, Yeah, Evans. Anyways,
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: I'm gonna take him Minnesota too. I don't like it.
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: But I think that color Thomson last week was a
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: mess when he had to go in there for Miami.
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: I feel bad for Teddy. Okay, uh, I will take Minnesota,
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: and I will take the hook and I'll take the points. Um.
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: I think the Vikings will win the game. Um, it's
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: asking too much for it for them to beat a
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: good team like that with third string quarterback. But I
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: think I think, just like last week, they'll have a chance. Yeah,
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: kicking a field goal in the fourth quarter to take
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: the lead, he missed it. I think that then the
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: Wheels came off right. So I think the Vikings cover.
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: They win and cover this game. Sunday at one, the
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: two and three Bengals are at the two and three Saints.
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: Bengals by one and a half. Bengals by one and
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: a half. So this is like who Dave versus Who Dat?
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: Who Dat Who day verse who that I'm gonna go
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: as it's tough. I'm gonna go with Joe Burrow on
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: the road. Um, that's a tough one, though. I'm gonna
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: take him and I'll play the points. I also wrote
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: with Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals both ways. I
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: can't get a read on the Bengals. It's a tough team.
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: They got so much talent, but they're just not playing
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: up to its post Super Bowl. Yeah, that might be it.
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: I'll take Cincinnati. I'll take them both ways. I don't Yeah,
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: I'll take Cincinnati to New Orleans. I think a lot
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: of the New Orleans defense, but it hasn't played very well. Yeah,
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: I'm gonna stand alone. Am I the only one taking
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: the Saints? Yeah? Yeah, I think we know why? Why?
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: Because they were mean to us? I know. Um. There
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: was an interesting story on NFL dot com today though
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: about when Tim Tebow was playing at Miami. You know
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: they uh it was a bowl game? No, no, Tim
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: Tebow wasn't. I'll never mind forget it. Good story anyway,
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: great story. If Joe Burrow lights it up, could this
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: become a home game for him because of the Yeah
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: that's what happened in Florida with Tim Tebow. Yeah, Chase
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: Chase too? Yeah yeah. Um. Sunday at one, the three
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: and two Ravens are at the four and one Giants
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: Baltimore by five and a half. Uh yeah, I don't.
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: I don't. I like the Giants. I like Dable's doing,
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: but I think Baltimore is uh the best team, and
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: we're one of the best teams. Namecy right now. I'll
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: take them, and I'll lay the points. Yeah, Baltimore to win,
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: Baltimore points. I like Baltimore to win. I'll give the Giants,
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: oh the points, throw them a bone. I don't know.
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: I I can't. I can't believe the Giants right now.
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: I don't think it's for real. But maybe maybe they're
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: more competitive than I think. Yeah, I'm the same way. Um,
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: I think Baltimore will, without question, at some point in
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: the game be covering, but they won't end up covering.
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: I'll take Baltimore to win, but the Giants will keep
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: it close. That's the same way I'll take that hook
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: um Sunday at one, three and two Buccaneers at the
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: one and four Steelers, Bucks by eight and a half.
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: That's not enough. Yeah, that's not enough. I'm taking Tampa.
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: No problem with the pretty healthy road favorite though it
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: was like eleven and a half really, because home team
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: usually gets like a field goal, that's right. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: I didn't know that. Yeah, home team usually gets like
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: two three points. Because you said that, dude, you got Tampa.
- 1:47:40Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, same retweet. I might check this game
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: out just to watch Brady destroy the Steelers defense like
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: he does every single time he plays Pittsburgh. Fair points. Yeah,
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: I'll lay the points in this show. Yeah, I'll go
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: with Brady both ways. All right. Now we skip over
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: yeah you will? Oh, we skip over the Patriots at
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: one o'clock and we move to four oh five where
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: the one and four Panthers are visiting the two and
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: three Rams. Oh, the Rams by ten and a half.
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: Ten and a half. Just to let everybody know, I
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: don't think cup Or Donald practice yesterday for the Rams. Wow.
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: I appreciate that. Ye um, But I think the Carolina
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: Panthers are going down the tubes. Their coach is gone
- 1:48:30Speaker 1: and they're gonna be Maybe that's a good thing, not good.
- 1:48:33Speaker 1: I think they're a lot, They're they're wayward suns. They're gone.
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: I'm gonna take the Rams, and I'm even gonna dump
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: those points too. I took the Rams to win, but
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: I gave Carolina the points. I'm with Alex on this
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: one and with Fred. I think sometimes the coach getting
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: fire can galvanize the troops a little bit, make it
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: more competitive. But it's a big spread the Ram. Yeah,
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: it's big spread. But ultimately I think the Rams win,
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: but I think Carolina covers that spread. Yeah, I will
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: lay the points with the Rams. The Rams are in
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: trouble if they can figure out how to protect the passer, though, um,
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: They're they're gonna be in disarray. If Stafford keeps getting
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: hit the way he is. They think he's sacked like
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: twenty one times or something. I know it's it doesn't
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: even really matter. Yeah, So I'll take the Rams because
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: I think that the coach um. I don't think they
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: hated the coach. I think when they hate the coach
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: and he gets fired, there's a little of that rallying.
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: I don't. I mean, I don't know the Carolina situation closely,
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: but I haven't really heard any players coming up. Maybe
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: I missed them, and it sounds like they're more Yeah,
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: I think that. I think there's more talk in Carolina
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: about a fighter. Say, yeah, you know Christian McCaffrey and
- 1:49:34Speaker 1: where he's going, and this guy and where he's going,
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: and we're going right through Derek Brown. I think there'll
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: be some guys on the Panthers going on ir shortly,
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: just shutting it down in a tough spot that like, offensively,
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: the Rams are bad right now. They just don't have
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: enough talent on offense. They don't have a good offensive line.
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: It's Cooper Cupper bust Like, they just don't have a
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: lot of talent on that side of the line. The
- 1:49:52Speaker 1: line is really really struggling. Yeah, I'm gonna go rams win,
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: but I will take the points four or five. I
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: have two and three Cardinals are at the two and
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: three Seahawks like Gino Cook. So this is an interesting
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: game time because if the Mariners in Houston have to
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: play in the game four, they're changing the time of
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: this game. They're pushing it back like an hour and
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: a half. Oh yeah, let's have a little middle game.
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: It'd be like a five thirty start something something like that.
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: If there's a baseball game. Does anything that's different is cool? Yeah? Yeah, right,
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: could help us on red zone. We'll have extra games.
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: I know it'll be sorry. Arizona by two and a half.
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: Arizona by two and a half, um, tough one Division game.
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with Sea Atole and the fighting Geno Smiths,
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: and I will take those home dog points. Arizona twin.
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: But I gave the points to Seattle and Gino. I'm
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: taking Seattle. I'm taking them both ways. I really don't
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: believe in Arizona at all, and I think Cliff is done. Yeah,
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: it's getting getting warm over there. Yeah, what was that
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: number again? Put Arizona by two and a half. I
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: will take Arizona. I'm gonna take the Seahawks both ways. Well,
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: they're underdog, so at home, might just take them. I'll
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: take them. Uh. Four twenty five, the four and one
- 1:51:14Speaker 1: Bills are at the four and one Chiefs. Baby, what
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: are we doing? Why is this game CBS exclusive? Yeah?
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: That was all that was not even gonna do the
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: postgame show? What are you be watching? That had to
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: be a protective absolutely, Especially Kansas City was on primetime
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: the last two weeks. You would think they would have
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: wanted to for this one. Buffalo by two and a half. Wow,
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: that's how good the Bills are. Buffalo's favored and narrowhead.
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: That's exactly what I'm saying. Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna go
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: with them. I'm gonna go with them. You can think
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: Buffalo is pretty good. Buffalo is pretty good. It was
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: funny like we were talking with having about Buffalo and
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: like while we're doing the defense thing during lunch, and
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: he was like, tell it's your offensive Buffalo. It was
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: the same thing I said where you were just like,
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: I mean, they could they could keep them to thirty
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: and it's still not enough for the bait, you know.
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: But yeah, I'm going Bills. I think at time is now.
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: But I think Patrick Mahomes is obviously playing great, so
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: he'll put up a fight. He's got a future that
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: might be all right. Good player about his family. But yeah,
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: I'm going with the home dogs Kansas City. A smart
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: person once told me that a smart a wise man
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: bets home dogs. So who was this person? I forget suspect.
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: I'm gonna suspect. I'm going with Kansas City too. I
- 1:52:29Speaker 1: I like Buffalo. I think they're a good team. I
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: think Josh Allen's a good quarterback, but you don't make
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes a home dog like I just I saw
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: that last week too with Patrick Mahomes, like he got
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: a little bit angry at the Chris Jones call and
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: lit the world on fire. So I'm taking Patrick Mahomes
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: as a home dog homeboy. Yeah. I think Buffalo is
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: gonna blow them out just like they did last year,
- 1:52:50Speaker 1: and I'll take them to do it again. I think
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: the Chiefs remember that, and I think the Chiefs win this.
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: The Chiefs got the revenge in the AFC Championship whatever division. Yes,
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: is this an AFC Championship preview this game? YEA possibly? Yes?
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: The Chiefs. I took the Chiefs, Patriots, I took the Chiefs. Uh.
- 1:53:10Speaker 1: Sunday night on NBRY Sure. Uh. The four and one
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: Cowboys are at the five and oh Eagle and get
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: enough of the division matchups in prime time. Eagles by six,
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: game six, Eagles by six, and they're at home. Another
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: great game. I don't I don't especially love the NFC East,
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: but but another great game. It's Philadelphia. Good challenge. I
- 1:53:31Speaker 1: think I saw what it. Yeah, the Cowboys have win
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: the last three. Got notes over there, No, just a
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: little bit. I print the thing so I have a
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: little bit of Maybe I can offer a comment or
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: a homework, a stat Perhaps it's much better, just like
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: say things like Jackson Villoe's the Colt. I have no
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: idea how many they've one. Oh yeah, just know those
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: things that I think that's a thing. I think that's
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: a thing. I'm going. I'm gonna go fly, Eagles fly,
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: and but I'm gonna take those points. I think it's
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: gonna be close. Um, but I liked Eagles to win. Oh,
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: so you have Dallas, you're taking up Dallas points. Yeah,
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: I don't say Philly Philli on Philly Philly. Every time
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: both times. I think Paul on it the first time
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: we talk. I take a Philly to win, but I'm
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: taking Dallas in the points Divisional game. I just feel
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: like he'll be close. Dallas is another one of those
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: teams that has a defense that's pretty good. Um, but
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna take Philly both ways, because I know I
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: keep saying this every week. At some point Dallas is
- 1:54:35Speaker 1: going to realize they're playing with a backup quarterback and
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: something's gonna happened. Hasn't happened yet. I guess Mike McCarthy's
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: a genius. UM's generally an indication of winning games with
- 1:54:45Speaker 1: the backup quarterback. But I'm gonna take the Eagles in
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: this game. I too, am gonna take the Eagles both
- 1:54:50Speaker 1: ways in this game. So there you go. So now
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: I'm just looking to be a perfect week for me.
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: I think both the spread night Monday Night, Oh yeah,
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: Monday Night, eight fifteen on ESPN two and three Broncos
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: are at the three and two Chargers. Chargers by five
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: and a half. They're getting any players back, I don't
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: think yet. I don't know if it's gonna matter, Um
- 1:55:19Speaker 1: the Broncos. It's the Broncos. I struggle to pick them
- 1:55:22Speaker 1: for anything. Right now, I'm gonna take the chargers and
- 1:55:24Speaker 1: I will lay the points. I thought they were going
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: to challenge for the AC West, I really do. Does
- 1:55:30Speaker 1: anybody this is a question for the panel, you know
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: how I like to throw these out there. Did anybody
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: think heading into the season that Russell Wilson was done? No? Like,
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: I know, he wasn't playing great. He was on what
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: I would call washed watch. Okay, you know, like I
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: didn't think he was done done, like get had a
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: couple more seasons. I thought it had more to do
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: with Seattle's sort of crumbling talent. But I actually think
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: that I think you're throwing in Tyler Lockett in DK
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: Metcalf maybe kept him going in the end there it's yeah, yeah,
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: I didn't necessarily being receivers. I just meant the entirety
- 1:56:04Speaker 1: of the team. Yeah, I hear you, But yeah, I
- 1:56:06Speaker 1: mean he's he looks, he looks done. Yeah, yep, yep.
- 1:56:14Speaker 1: That much. Chargers both Mike Mike woint that was it,
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: Mike Mike charges charges. I'm also taking the chargers both ways.
- 1:56:25Speaker 1: Name for it. Jamari Sailor, the rookie left tackle that's
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: been filling in for Rashaan Slater shut out Miles Garrett
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: last week. No sacks, no QB hits for Miles Garrett
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: against the rookie left tackles, really impressive games like I
- 1:56:38Speaker 1: want armed though, I mean yeah, I mean I think
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: he was dead heading into the game. I'm gonna take
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: the Chargers, but I will take the points five and
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: a half. The Charges will do something stupid. Staley will
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: go for something, but it's two really stupid coaches going
- 1:56:52Speaker 1: against each other, so fair point because the other guy
- 1:56:55Speaker 1: is as overmatched as the head coaches I've ever seen
- 1:56:57Speaker 1: a head coach. I'm gonna go with the Chargers both ways.
- 1:57:00Speaker 1: Is Denver finds themselves outside of Denver, not playing at home,
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: and they don't know what's going on. It's a rare
- 1:57:05Speaker 1: away game for the Broncos. So I'll go with the Chargers.
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: I got you all right. Now we go back to
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: one o'clock where the two and three Patriots are going
- 1:57:16Speaker 1: against the two and three Browns. I'm sorry, Browns by
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: three three? Yeah no, uh, this a pick them, no question,
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: I love it. Yeah, I'm going with the Patriots. I
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: I just think they're gonna put a good game together.
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: I have some confidence. I don't have stats to back
- 1:57:33Speaker 1: it up right now, but I think that they'll handle
- 1:57:36Speaker 1: the Charger or the Browns, and I got them twenty
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: seven seventeen alix. I picked New England to win. I
- 1:57:48Speaker 1: think it'll be close. So I gave Cleveland the points
- 1:57:53Speaker 1: for not to think of a score. So let me
- 1:57:55Speaker 1: think of one that would allow for that outcome. Let's
- 1:57:59Speaker 1: do twenty eight New England, which would give twenty six
- 1:58:06Speaker 1: to Cleveland twenty seven. Yep. I don't like that. I'd
- 1:58:10Speaker 1: love to watch a game like that. I wouldn't offense.
- 1:58:14Speaker 1: What's offense? Yeah, I haven't seen any of that point.
- 1:58:18Speaker 1: I'm gonna take the Patriots to win. I guess to
- 1:58:21Speaker 1: push right twenty four twenty one three point spread, So
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: you got to pick one of the other. God you pick.
- 1:58:26Speaker 1: I mean, if if it lands on that, obviously we
- 1:58:28Speaker 1: would all tie. But okay, I'll take the Patriots to
- 1:58:32Speaker 1: cover two. I guess. I think the biggest thing that
- 1:58:35Speaker 1: I look at with this game watching the Chargers run
- 1:58:40Speaker 1: an offense. I mean, I have never seen a professional
- 1:58:44Speaker 1: defensive line get blown off the ball as easily as
- 1:58:47Speaker 1: this Brown's defensive line did against the Chargers like it
- 1:58:50Speaker 1: looked like you were watching Zion Johnson playing in college
- 1:58:53Speaker 1: at BC. Like the way that they were moving that
- 1:58:55Speaker 1: interior of the line, it was crazy. So I think
- 1:58:58Speaker 1: the Patriots run defense is not nearly as bad as
- 1:59:02Speaker 1: the Browns run defenses. So I like the Patriots. Yeah,
- 1:59:05Speaker 1: Cleveland really struggles stoppering the run, their worst worst in
- 1:59:09Speaker 1: the league at that buying a wide margin, and I
- 1:59:13Speaker 1: have to think that that's what the Patriots are gonna
- 1:59:15Speaker 1: want to do again. However, I think that that lends
- 1:59:19Speaker 1: to close games, and I don't think this game will
- 1:59:22Speaker 1: be easy. I think Cleveland will run it pretty much
- 1:59:24Speaker 1: as effectively as you do, and this could be one
- 1:59:27Speaker 1: of those games. Mike, we're watching red zone by like
- 1:59:29Speaker 1: three thirty. It could be like my dream game. I
- 1:59:33Speaker 1: think the Patriots will continue to win. I think as
- 1:59:36Speaker 1: much as I argued with Fred before I ate lunch,
- 1:59:39Speaker 1: you'll see a continued progress from the defense. Was angry
- 1:59:42Speaker 1: Paul for the first time, all right, and twenty four
- 1:59:45Speaker 1: to twenty Okay, I'm with Paul in terms of how
- 1:59:50Speaker 1: many points the Patriots are going to score twenty four.
- 1:59:52Speaker 1: I think they hold the Browns to fourteen. So I
- 1:59:56Speaker 1: think it's going to be twenty four fourteen two blowouts
- 2:00:00Speaker 1: and that really it depends on how the you know,
- 2:00:02Speaker 1: toward the end, maybe the Patriots get a you know,
- 2:00:06Speaker 1: backdoor touchdown or something like that. I think it's going
- 2:00:09Speaker 1: to be a closer game than ten points, you know,
- 2:00:12Speaker 1: it'll feel that way. But a twenty four fourteen win
- 2:00:14Speaker 1: for the Patriots. So all right, all the Patriots this week,
- 2:00:20Speaker 1: I'm not sure that's happened yet. This took this year. Um,
- 2:00:24Speaker 1: all right, so that's oh no, I already did all
- 2:00:26Speaker 1: the pure happened last week. We're just looking out, but
- 2:00:31Speaker 1: I didn't. I picked point for the points. Okay, shame Alice.
- 2:00:36Speaker 1: All right, that'll be it for this edition of Patriots
