- 0:28standard meow before each episode.
- 0:32It wasn't a meow, it was a. Well, yeah, that's true.
- 0:35It was like a very high pitched Owen Wilson.
- 0:37Wow, somehow. Wow.
- 0:43I don't know. Did she corrected me to say, are
- 0:45you meowing? No.
- 0:47So I mean, yeah, actually, in fact heard correctly.

- 1:01Wait what are you guys favorite Owen Wilson movies?
- 1:05Wedding Crashers for. Sure, when it crashes gonna be
- 1:07number. One or or Zoolander.
- 1:10Pause 1 is pretty good too. I think he's brilliant and meet
- 1:14the parents. Oh my God, you know that's a
- 1:16good one. Yeah, man, that's tough.
- 1:19Those are my top 3 for sure. Until you name another one.
- 1:21Those are my top 3 for sure. Guilty pleasure movie.
- 1:25I don't think this is actually a good movie, but like, I really
- 1:27love the internship with with Vince Vaughn.
- 1:30Yeah, I feel like, I mean not as good as the one that we just
- 1:32mentioned, but like like one has a soft spot for me.
- 1:35Yeah, well, that was like the whole thing was like Vince
- 1:38Vaughn and Owen Wilson haven't been in a movie together since
- 1:40Wedding Crashers, and now they're doing the internship, so
- 1:42it's like super hyped at the time.
- 1:44Yeah, yeah. No, they're they're they're a
- 1:46good duo. He he's great.
- 1:48Owen Wilson's great. And there's.
- 1:49Been fun movie. Oh, wait one more for Owen
- 1:53Wilson. Sorry, Night in Paris.

- 3:17there that I've had the Hawkeyes around the clock.
- 3:19So it's it's really. Important and never sleeps.
- 3:22For yeah, exactly, exactly. And I know that first hand
- 3:27because I wake up to text from Josh.
- 3:29Oh my God, I can't believe this guy flees me in this trade.
- 3:32Oh my God my team sucks and then lo.
- 3:35And behold, been getting a lot of the my team sucks lately so.
- 3:37Yeah, it's all good. We're having.
- 3:39Fun things get scary. All these socials are in the
- 3:46podcast description as well. Should we begin with our two
- 3:50weeks ago update? And then perhaps between the
- 3:52bylaws and the cell highs, we talked about our favorite Vince
- 3:54Vaughn movie. Yeah, but I mean, I just gotta
- 3:57say I I've got old school, if we're talking, you know, old
- 4:01school. And then I've also got 4
- 4:03Christmases. We watch it.
- 4:05Every 4 Christmas. Yeah, so good.
- 4:07The scene with like they're playing like taboo with.
- 4:10Like caught up with Jon Favreau. Yeah.
- 4:15Or like the part where they're making out on the beach.
- 4:18Screensaver actually. Never seen it.
- 4:21Oht My God. You know, I I have.
- 4:24Yeah, I know. I will watch.
- 4:24For and then my best friend dates his mother.
- 4:27Yeah, he's cold. My gosh.
- 4:30OK, I have mine. It's it's couples retreat.
- 4:35Oh my God, that's a good. One really good too.
- 4:38Younger years. That guy is like what?
- 4:43The funniest one hit wonder in the movie ever.
- 4:46So encouraging a word with When he was doing the yoga scene, he
- 4:50kept saying a word. What's the word you guys
- 4:52remember? Encouragement.
- 4:53Oh yes, how could I forget? That's a banger.
- 4:58That was a banger of a movie. You are.
- 5:01Braver than certified. Yeah, alright.
- 5:05Should we dive into the actual episode?
- 5:08Yeah, let's do it. I guess we can.
- 5:09Alright, let's start with our two weeks ago update where we
- 5:12brag about how good we are at this because once again we hit
- 5:15it out of the park. So our bylaws from 2 weeks ago,
- 5:18we had Clayton Keller. Since then, four games played,
- 5:21two goals, 4 assists, 6 points. I would easily say that this
- 5:25window has closed. Being over a point per game will
- 5:27do that to you. Then we had Kirill Marchenko, 5
- 5:30games played, four goals, Genesis 5 points again.
- 5:33If you remember when we recommended him, he was at like
- 5:35.2 over the past month and now he's at a point per game again,
- 5:37He's shooting again, it's again, that window probably has closed
- 5:41as well. And then we had Dylan Strome.
- 5:42We got some, I got some hate for this one actually.
- 5:45People were saying she's a drop, you're an idiot, I hate you.
- 5:48That was all in my head, but you know, I like it.
- 5:51Imagine I imagined that was a some of the reactions.
- 5:54And since then, seven games played, three goals, 6 assists,
- 5:579 points. We were right as usual.
- 6:00This is another window is closed strong.
- 6:02This was such a crazy Bylo. Like you could have got him for
- 6:05peanuts. And I hope you did because yeah,
- 6:08because now he's over a point per game again.
- 6:10So huge wins for our bylaws, then our sell highs.
- 6:14We had area Carlson since then, six games played, zero goals, 5
- 6:17assists, 5 points. And I'm highlighting 2 power
- 6:19play points in six games because at the time the recommendation
- 6:22he was at .5 power play points per game.
- 6:24Now he's at .3 over the past two weeks, which is still great.
- 6:27But if you remember, I preferred him as he still going to be
- 6:31someone you're happy to have on your team.
- 6:32He's just not gonna be doing what he was doing at the time.
- 6:34So that one still you can still sell high on him.
- 6:36I don't think the window was closed on that.
- 6:38He's still playing well, but also it's not a desperate move.
- 6:41But these, this other one, we love, this huge one.
- 6:45Thatcher Demko. Four games played, zero wins,
- 6:483.99 goals against average .88 save percentage.
- 6:52I don't know if our fans remember this, but two weeks ago
- 6:55with Thatcher Demko was the best goalie in the NHL.
- 6:57He had, you know, just come back from injury.
- 6:59He was winning all his games. Like the numbers were insane and
- 7:04we. Were saying he won three.
- 7:05He had played four games coming back from injury.
- 7:07He won three out of four of them.
- 7:08He had a 1.35 goals against average and a .9388 percentage.
- 7:14And people were just like, Oh yes, Stem goes back.
- 7:17Yeah. I was like, no.
- 7:18Yeah, and we said, we said that this was unlike the Eric Carlson
- 7:22one. This is the category of get him
- 7:24off your team while he's hot. And I really hope that everyone
- 7:28did because he has plummeted Bocos so down become submarine.
- 7:33That's how far he has plummeted. OK, a little something.
- 7:37I don't think anyone's taking him in a trade now.
- 7:39So that door has firmly closed. I hope you guys got off on that.
- 7:43You made that trade when you were able to.
- 7:45And then lastly, we have Matt Boldy since then, seven games
- 7:49played, five goals, one assist, 6 points.
- 7:52Again, buddy was like the Carlson boat where it was like
- 7:54you're still going to be super happy to have him.
- 7:56He's still an elite player. But under a point per game
- 7:58versus when we recommended him two weeks ago, he was at almost
- 8:012 points per game. We were saying you can target a
- 8:03top five player in the league for him.
- 8:05Jacques. Yeah, exactly.
- 8:07Like, I don't think I don't think the window is closed, but
- 8:10this is more what you would. I mean, this is actually less
- 8:13than you would expect from expecting to be over a point per
- 8:15game, but it's definitely more in line with what you'd expect
- 8:18as opposed to close to two points.
- 8:19So again, I hope people were able to pull off some crazy
- 8:21trades since then. But let's dive into our this
- 8:25week, week 14 buy low sell high. I will start with my Bilo, which
- 8:29is Leo Carlson. He was a cell high for the
- 8:33longest time at the start of the season.
- 8:34Jake mentioned it and it broke his heart.
- 8:37And now we've got Carlson, who's been pretty awful lately.
- 8:42He's averaging .46 points per game, .15 power play points over
- 8:46the past month, .2 points per game and .2 points over the past
- 8:51two weeks. So all his points in the past
- 8:52two weeks have been PowerPoints. And it's like one point.
- 8:55And compared to the start of the season when he was the best
- 8:57player in the NHL, he was literally ranked number one in
- 8:59most fantasy leagues. So we know he has that dog in
- 9:01him or that duck in him, but he's not.
- 9:03He's not doing it lately. So.
- 9:07So the Ducks as a whole are in a tailspin, having won only two of
- 9:09their last 10 games. The coaches shuffling around the
- 9:12even strength and power play lines trying to fix the problem
- 9:14and nobody has been safe from this line blender, not even
- 9:16Carlson. There were times when he got
- 9:18bumped off line one, got bumped off power play one, but for now
- 9:20he's back there. His linemates have also been
- 9:22constantly changing, with him currently playing with Cutter
- 9:24Gautier and Alex Killorn on the first line.
- 9:26The power play is also a mess, having only scored three out of
- 9:2927 in the past 10 games. Despite all of this, the Ducks
- 9:33are still third in their division and they still have
- 9:35their sights on the playoffs. We mentioned the Ducks huge over
- 9:38performers at the start of the year including Leo Carlson, but
- 9:40now they've overcorrected and they should not be this bad.
- 9:43If you can get Carlson for cheap it could be huge when he turns
- 9:45it around. I'd still expect him to be point
- 9:46per game rest this season or at least .9.
- 9:49Here's some good one for one targets.
- 9:51I'm looking at Dylan Strome, Sam Bennett, Ryan O'Reilly, Brock
- 9:54Nelson. So I think we need to introduce
- 9:58a new terminology to this episode.
- 10:00There is the Bangor management Cinderella story where they go
- 10:04from a bylo to a cell high and I think we could call it the
- 10:06reverse Cinderella story here post from reversal high to a buy
- 10:12low. That's that's sad stuff to be
- 10:15honest. I mean, it's and.
- 10:16Then you've got like the cheap Sanderson where he goes like buy
- 10:19low, sell high, but you got the yo-yo you.
- 10:20Know exactly the Cinderella roller coaster?
- 10:27Cinderella is involved. Yeah, that's it.
- 10:30That's it. She she like Jake Sanderson
- 10:32basically turned into a pumpkin at this point because that's how
- 10:35the movie goes. But yeah, but yeah, so this is
- 10:39great. I don't wanna dive too much into
- 10:41it with my answer cuz this kind of leads into what mines gonna
- 10:46be for my bi lo. The main thing I kind of want to
- 10:49focus on is that I think your targets are fantastic.
- 10:51Sam Bennett he is. He's really, really done well.
- 10:58And then if the Chuck comes back in the next week or two, I I
- 11:02mean, I think he's just gonna get better and better, like
- 11:05like, sorry, not better. My bad.
- 11:07He's going to not regress as much as I think he is without to
- 11:12Chuck. So considering his really safer
- 11:15shots and hits, like I still really like him.
- 11:17But yes, if someone offered me Carlson for Bennett, I would
- 11:20take it. It's tight though.
- 11:22The other ones though, slam dunk, easy, huge win.
- 11:25Slam dunk, really like it. You know, it's not exactly a
- 11:30Cinderella story cause it's technically not an official cell
- 11:33hide, but Dylan Strome, like as we can see, you know, he's been
- 11:36on fire lately and then he was a Bilo 2 weeks ago, right?
- 11:39So something like that. Nelson O'Reilly, if you can make
- 11:43that trade. I I love it and I'm gonna get
- 11:46more into my opinion on the ducks soon, but I agree with
- 11:49everything you said. Yeah, I mean, listen, I I love
- 11:52Lil Carlson as as a buy low. I think for everything you
- 11:55highlighted, if you want to talk about the targets, I love Leo
- 11:58Carlson over all of these guys rest of season.
- 12:01I do think you might have a hard time selling these guys because
- 12:05some of them are are names that the production is there, but the
- 12:08name value doesn't match. Whereas I think Leo Carlson, I
- 12:11think he built up his name value throughout the season.
- 12:13I think the start of the season was so hot that people are
- 12:15putting him out like that level of like pedigree of like he's in
- 12:18the top three or four round pick type of thing, right?
- 12:21And even though lately has been really bad, I think he still
- 12:24holds a lot of that value even though it's production has been
- 12:26bad. So you might have a hard time
- 12:28with like Ryan O'reilly's and Brock Nelson, who are like guys
- 12:32that are like slightly better than waiver wire.
- 12:33It feels like even though the production is way better than
- 12:35that. But I think Dylan Stroman, Sam
- 12:38Bennett, you can probably pull off.
- 12:40And like we say, we always say like we're trying to give you
- 12:42one for one targets that we think are feasible, but you
- 12:45never really want to be pulling off A1 for one trade.
- 12:48And all of these things are way more digestible in A2 for two or
- 12:51a bigger package. So, and I think all of these
- 12:54guys in a package are very feasible, so I like it.
- 12:59Yeah, I I honestly think Sam Bennett can get done one for
- 13:02one. Yeah, with what he's been doing
- 13:04and with the ketchup. Coming back and he has name
- 13:06value 2. That's it exactly.
- 13:07So he was the one that I was like, I wasn't sure if I was
- 13:10going too high with that or if if like, you know, that was
- 13:12going too low with the others. But he's definitely the one I
- 13:14think is the most realistic and I'd be happy with the with
- 13:16Carlson. Yeah, it'd be really tough to
- 13:21get rid of him based on how good he's been, but yeah.
- 13:24I see you thinking about it though, I think.
- 13:27I think. If you never want to sell high,
- 13:29I don't think I've ever seen Jake do sell high.
- 13:31Why he sold high on Macklin? Did he?
- 13:36I. Mean there's no way gonna get
- 13:38better than what he's been doing.
- 13:40What is he gonna get worse? I hope not.
- 13:44Can I ask one more, especially after what he did last night?
- 13:47What about Zibanejad? Yeah, that's a good one,
- 13:51especially because the Manchester playoff schedule, I
- 13:54think I'm still taking Carlson over him.
- 13:55I don't know about you guys. Yeah, I mean, five, he got five
- 14:00points. I know Winter Classic, like,
- 14:01that's crazy. Yeah, you know what I mean?
- 14:03So it's a maybe that's skewing his stats, but I would take
- 14:05Carlson as well. And I think it's not impossible
- 14:08because there's a lot of name value there.
- 14:09I think that can also really get done, especially after the night
- 14:12he just had like that's that's perfect timing to try and pull
- 14:15that off. I will say again, they have a
- 14:16great playoff schedule. So it always sucks to kind of
- 14:19downgrade playoff schedule, but if the values there, it's still
- 14:22worth it. So I would definitely do that.
- 14:24It's wonderful. Kevin, you got for us.
- 14:26Neil Carlson always having Leo Carson is better than Savannah,
- 14:29but I wanna do a different trade.
- 14:31If that makes sense. That's fair.
- 14:34All right, my trade, my Bilo. I wonder if it's going to be a
- 14:39surprise for some people If you have them on your team, it's not
- 14:42gonna be surprise, but maybe you'll be happy.
- 14:43I'm talking about him. But listen, I got some goalie
- 14:46whisper to me. I'm talking.
- 14:48I'm telling you guys, I feel like the stars since and the
- 14:50trade targets. I feel like I'm always the one
- 14:51mentioning the goalies and it's always some crazy stats, but I'm
- 14:55going to talk about the one and only Connor Hellebuyck of the
- 15:00Winnipeg Jets. Now listen, Alibek, I feel like
- 15:03has been on this list before as a bi lo when he was injured and
- 15:07he was more easily acquirable because he was going to be out
- 15:09for four to six weeks. Because right at this moment,
- 15:14the Winnipeg Jets are the worst team in the league.
- 15:19Like in the NHL, they are 32 out of 32.
- 15:22They have no points. I think they have 34 points on
- 15:26the season. It's the worst out of the whole
- 15:28league. Would you going into the season
- 15:30believe that the Winnipeg Jets, the President's Trophy winners
- 15:34of last year, Connor Hellebuyck won everything last year and now
- 15:39they are last place in the whole NHL, not going to make the
- 15:43playoffs and he's playing like one of the worst goalies in the
- 15:46league? Does that mean yes I yes, yes
- 15:50it? Does actually, yeah.
- 15:51There's only one person who had them ranked so low and even
- 15:56doing it another. Hole do you had them ranked at a
- 15:58controversial spot and it was fifth.
- 16:01Yeah. So that's all that going all
- 16:04that to to say the projections are not lining up with what we
- 16:07expect from this team, the quality we know that they have
- 16:10and the players that we know that they have.
- 16:11And I think right now like I'm setting the stage for the team
- 16:14is this bad. They won't be this bad forever
- 16:17when they they are not this bad forever.
- 16:19Connor Hellebuyck will bounce back.
- 16:21Like right now, if you look at his stats over the last month,
- 16:23he has one win. That's one singular Uno Uno for
- 16:28playing. No, the percentage is at 894.
- 16:34I don't think it's normal to see Connor Hellebuyck below 960
- 16:37percentage on on the season. He's at 9:07 last year.
- 16:41He's at 9:25 this year, at 894 over this last stretch.
- 16:45So already you're saying like, OK, like the numbers are backing
- 16:48up the fact that like, he's not really playing well right now.
- 16:51He's still one of the best goalies in the league.
- 16:52He's finding his footing after his injury.
- 16:54Like everybody people were worried about, OK, like, am I
- 16:58worried buying low on Connor Hellebuyck while he's injured
- 17:01like the knee and everything? Like, is that a worry?
- 17:03In my mind? I was not worried about the
- 17:05injury, but I also didn't expect Winnipeg to become the worst
- 17:07team in the league after he comes back from injury too.
- 17:09And I think that gives you a bigger window of opportunity
- 17:12right now to buy Connor Hellebuyck again, and you could
- 17:15potentially get the best goalie and fantasy on your roster for
- 17:18cheap right now. Um, listen, I'm not saying he's
- 17:20going to do what he did last year.
- 17:22I think on this podcast, even in the preseason, we were saying we
- 17:25don't expect him to do what he was gonna do last year.
- 17:27It was an exceptional year. He's never gonna have a year
- 17:30like that again. But he's also not gonna have a
- 17:32year like what he's been doing over the last month.
- 17:34So if you're in the league where the helbock owner is struggling
- 17:38in the standings, I think you have a prime opportunity right
- 17:41now to get him on your roster. And if you have goalies like
- 17:45Ilya Sorokin, who is just coming back from injury.
- 17:47But before that, it was really strong.
- 17:49Dustin Wolfe was on a really hot stretch and like a little bit of
- 17:53a Sahai himself right now with Calgary actually getting some
- 17:55good performances. Or if you have UC Saros, who we
- 17:58highlighted as a sell high in recent weeks as well, Joseph
- 18:00Wall. I feel like right now with
- 18:02Toronto, like, you know, Matthews clicking, maybe it's
- 18:05gonna win more games, but Anthony sores on the horizon.
- 18:08If you have the opportunity to sell any of these guys, it might
- 18:11maybe not one for one because Connor help just has too much of
- 18:13that name value, but of like a maybe a Saros plus a player gets
- 18:19it done and I would strongly consider that.
- 18:22What do you guys think? Yeah, I, I was the lowest easily
- 18:27on Winnipeg and I, I still, I mean, now if they end up fifth,
- 18:31like you know, it's, it's it means that they performed well
- 18:34between now and the end of the season.
- 18:36And I still think they're going to make a push for the playoffs
- 18:39like they they're, I did not predict them to be.
- 18:41This this bad, obviously. And what what I think is that in
- 18:46the years past, they've relied on Hellebuyck tremendously to be
- 18:49their saving grace. And sometimes you just can't do
- 18:53that. Every single year in the past
- 18:55three or four years, I remember owning him one year in a
- 18:58different league where he was abysmal and.
- 19:01Looked like COVID year. Maybe it was the COVID year.
- 19:05Yeah. And other than that, he's been
- 19:06great. So, so to me it's, it's kind of
- 19:09like I still think he's a top five to seven goalie and you can
- 19:14pay less than that. You can pay like in a top 15
- 19:17guy, like the guys you named, you know, So that's that's where
- 19:21I see it. Do you think you still like the
- 19:23top three though? I feel like top five is probably
- 19:25fair. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 19:28I mean, I'm not putting him above like I'm putting him above
- 19:31just Durkin or Ottinger. Vasilevsky.
- 19:34Vasilevsky yeah, Like those, those three are easily above him
- 19:38at this point. But like, yeah, are you, are you
- 19:40taking him over? Like Colorado's goalies,
- 19:43probably, with their Internet history and the fact they're
- 19:45splitting. One of the targets that I had
- 19:48was was Gustafson of Minnesota, because he's also been on fire
- 19:52right now. So I'm like he's a little bit of
- 19:54a cell high, but I didn't wanna put.
- 19:57I think if you're giving Gustafson halibut right now,
- 19:59like you make that A2 for two trade like you should be getting
- 20:01a better player in. Return yeah.
- 20:03So I think my OneNote like I agree with everything you said,
- 20:06I think it looks great by low. I do think your targets are a
- 20:10bit too low. Like I don't think there's any
- 20:11world where Sorokin hasn't even played yet in like 2 weeks.
- 20:14So I don't think there's that's getting done.
- 20:16Wolf and wool, I don't see any chance of that getting done.
- 20:19Saros is the only one where I'm like, OK, you could do Syros
- 20:21plus for halibut with how he's been playing.
- 20:23Like I could see that happening. But the other ones I think
- 20:25you're aiming too low. Like I'm even wondering.
- 20:27I'm like, I'm a Kemper owner. I'm like, should I be sending,
- 20:29you know, like some sort of overthinking Kemper for halibut.
- 20:33Well, listen, I did definitely go lower on the names because I
- 20:37think that these are obviously one for one and never gonna
- 20:40happen. Yeah, but if you're doing these
- 20:41names plus a player for Hello Bug, I think that's a better
- 20:45trade in my mind than doing a camper and a worse player for a
- 20:51Halibut or a gust of Sun in the worst player for Illibuck or a
- 20:56Bobrovsky in a worst player. Hell of a type of thing.
- 20:58You know, like these guys are way closer to the hell of a tier
- 21:00right now with how he's playing and where we expect to bounce
- 21:02back to be that I feel like the you're not gaining as much if
- 21:07you're in a doing a trade like that as opposed to getting this
- 21:11tier of goalie to Hellebaut. Obviously you have to give to
- 21:14receive as well. So you have to make sure that
- 21:16The thing is realistic. It's just he was a lot of
- 21:18people. It was pretty much anyone who
- 21:20has helped on their team was probably their first round pick.
- 21:22So absolutely, I think that yeah, unless you give them
- 21:26someone with enough upside them where they're like, OK, like,
- 21:29you know, I wanna get out of hell a buck, but like I'm
- 21:31actually getting something return.
- 21:32Otherwise they'll be like, I'd rather just hold hello Buck and
- 21:34just pray that he becomes back to where he's he's at, you know.
- 21:37So I think you have to you have to give more than than the
- 21:39targets you listed. But I also get not wanting to
- 21:42give too much because when it affects sucks right now.
- 21:44So. This is the worst team in the
- 21:46league. So I feel like I feel like,
- 21:47yeah, you probably have to give more, but you shouldn't have to
- 21:51give that much more given the situation right now, like you're
- 21:55playing the market as well. And right now in the market of
- 21:57goalies like Hello Bug is just he's a he's a nuisance to your
- 22:01team every. Week.
- 22:02Yeah. What about like he's just what
- 22:03about Jeremy Swagman? I feel like that's a good
- 22:05target. He's also, but he's not doing
- 22:07that hot right now. You know that like it's like
- 22:09might as well just hold hella buck at that point.
- 22:11That's like I looked at the. Guys like there's any, it could
- 22:16be a a piece or anything that's too low.
- 22:18I think Seattle doesn't have the pull.
- 22:20That's very, yeah. I'd rather have hella buck, but
- 22:23it's so if you can swing it the cord for for for halibut in a
- 22:27package like a A2 for one or something like I would do that
- 22:30slam dunk to me. But I also think it might be too
- 22:33low to get it done. Has been actually really, really
- 22:37solid. That's very, yeah.
- 22:40But I don't mind giving like a player for Hella Buck to someone
- 22:44you know, who was drafted like kind of high and is under.
- 22:47Well, I wouldn't say underperforming, as we said,
- 22:50he's been pretty decent lately. But would you give like a
- 22:52Clayton Keller for a Hella Buck? I think I'd rather have been
- 22:57killer. I'd rather have colour, yeah.
- 22:59What about? What about like a?
- 23:01No, I'd rather have cancel. No, I'd rather have cancel.
- 23:03What about like Patrick Kane? Yeah, that's what I was
- 23:06thinking. I mean, I have pain, but like, I
- 23:08just don't see that like, happening, right?
- 23:10Like, I mean, like you think Kane plus the cord could get
- 23:12done? Like, I just don't see that
- 23:14happening. I think it's feasible, honestly.
- 23:17I think you have to give a third or fourth round guy who's been
- 23:19somewhat inconsistent or underperforming.
- 23:21I don't, but I don't need to. I don't think I'd want to give
- 23:23up because I think celebration seen in this probably a third or
- 23:25fourth wrong guy. Yeah.
- 23:29So I'm buying my ceiling. So that's the that's the kind of
- 23:31like hard thing with this because I think we all agree
- 23:33that helps a big buy low. The question is, how much do you
- 23:35believe in gonna bounce back? And then you have to like send
- 23:39someone accordingly. And it's also just with such
- 23:41tremendous name value like hello fuck does.
- 23:44You don't want to get in the position where you have to
- 23:46overpay for this by low right? But at the same time if.
- 23:48You don't know. Yeah, yeah.
- 23:50It's paying for hella bucket full price and he doesn't go
- 23:52back to full price. Then yeah, just making
- 23:54available. For your fantasy team.
- 23:55Right, exactly. So you need to be paying a low
- 23:57enough price, but also it has to be high enough it could actually
- 24:00get done, which is just tough with this level of player.
- 24:02So it's A and you throw in the fact that it's a goalie and
- 24:04there's there's always it's always a bit more complicated
- 24:07with goalie trades. You know, people are very
- 24:08attached to their goalies, but at the same time people can hate
- 24:11their goals when they underperform.
- 24:12So it's tough. I all your targets would be big
- 24:15wins. It's just I'm not sure if
- 24:17they're actually feasible. But look, you the worst thing
- 24:19you can do is do your due diligence and see if the helbock
- 24:21owner in your league is kind of desperate to get out of.
- 24:25I think, I think from what I noticed about like us talking
- 24:28about trades for our League of record and like just between us
- 24:31and on the podcast, and then seeing the type of trades that
- 24:34people are able to pull off in the Discord, I think that we're
- 24:36being a lot more strict than what the sentiment is on these
- 24:40players in general. So I've noticed that too, Yeah.
- 24:44I think essentially other things are much like easier to trade,
- 24:47yeah, than our league. Somebody, somebody I was helping
- 24:50somebody in the discord literally last night make a
- 24:53trade and they I was like, oh man, if you could send this 2
- 24:56for one, it'd be great. He ended up sending a one for
- 24:59one. So not even the full package of
- 25:00what I suggested. He traded Leo Carlson for Jack
- 25:03Hughes. That's crazy.
- 25:06Because a lot of people on this, it's not, there's no one
- 25:09practice better than the other. But if you're looking at season
- 25:11stats and just like the season totals, like a lot of the
- 25:13numbers can be misleading, right?
- 25:14People miss time or like they go through cold stretches.
- 25:17We like to look at like, you know, the last 30 days average
- 25:20or 14 days average just to get a sense of like how well the
- 25:22player has been performing as of late and using that as like, OK,
- 25:26like which direction are you going to go as a value supposed
- 25:28to be going up in the near future or down.
- 25:31But some people just look at the numbers and they look at the
- 25:33numbers on the season as a whole.
- 25:35You really get that early season production baked into their
- 25:38their live value, even if they're not performing at that
- 25:42level, so. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's it's very
- 25:45interesting one. JQ What do you?
- 25:47Got it is for sure. So I have a little pop quiz
- 25:51before I get into mine. Who in the NHL has the most
- 25:54shots on goal this year? Is it your guy?
- 25:57That's why. No, no.
- 25:58OK. OK.
- 26:01Only. Thing.
- 26:01Wait actually wanna guess most shots on goal?
- 26:04Is it celebrity? No, no, come on.
- 26:10Do you like come on like that? I got it, yes.
- 26:15Second most. As always, right, OK.
- 26:19Yeah. Second was Jason Robertson.
- 26:23OK, I was gonna say. Third most is my guy, one behind
- 26:28Jason Robertson. So that is crazy.
- 26:31I'm gonna keep with Josh Josh's theme of the Ducks over here and
- 26:34I'm going with Cutter Gautier. Third highest shots on goal in
- 26:38the NHL. Crazy.
- 26:39I don't want to dive too much into the teams recent
- 26:42performance because Josh already gave a really good overview, but
- 26:45one stark difference between Gautier and Carlson is that
- 26:48Gautier is 3.8 shots on goal per game over the last 10 and
- 26:52Carlson's at 2.1. This is in line with the game I
- 26:55played generally, but this does make Gotye owners a little bit
- 26:59less bummed than Carlson owners. Nevertheless, over the last 10
- 27:04games, Gautier has a 7.9 shooting percentage and on this
- 27:07season he's at a 12.2 shooting percentage.
- 27:10So that's brought down his averages tremendously the the
- 27:13most recent 10 games. It's a massive difference and
- 27:17I've been in. I've been a believer in the
- 27:19Ducks since the beginning, but they're not going to be
- 27:21consistent this year, even though I do think that they're
- 27:23going to edge into the playoffs. And it's very encouraging for me
- 27:28that even through ups and downs, Gautier has the confidence to
- 27:32shoot the puck a lot. The Ducks are happy to let him
- 27:35shoot the puck a lot and this is gonna just be really, really
- 27:39great for when he starts scoring again.
- 27:42So my targets over here, I got Steven Stamkos, Brian Rust,
- 27:49Alexi the GOAT protists, look at the numbers, Kevin and Pavel
- 27:54inferior to protest, Dora Phev and one more is Ivan Demidov.
- 28:00But that one was really tough to put.
- 28:02But I still think it's it's fair to to have it.
- 28:05What do y'all think? I think this.
- 28:07Is true the targets just to to make fun of me.
- 28:13I know I I I I put them both there.
- 28:17So products and Dorothea V are are big time beer.
- 28:21Bet that's that was. Married to the.
- 28:23Other. Yeah.
- 28:24What? You said one was inferior to the
- 28:26other. He is inferior to.
- 28:29Anyways, talking about Cutter produces a monster.
- 28:34Although you might actually like.
- 28:35This camera is gonna cut out. Exactly, but like look like
- 28:40obviously it seems crazy to think about this because of how
- 28:43hard Gautier was, but produces a 1.43 over the past two weeks,
- 28:47right? Demidov also insane stats.
- 28:50He's at a 1.5 points per game over the last two weeks.
- 28:53And all these guys are doing it with like, I mean, I don't want
- 28:57to say it's it's lucky, but their teams are just performing
- 29:01way better than the Ducks have been.
- 29:03When the Ducks get back into form, I think that Gautier is
- 29:06going to be a huge part of it, like Carlson, and for now, the
- 29:10floor of having great shots is super nice to have so.
- 29:14Yeah, I think for me, I. Like what you're saying?
- 29:17Now you go, you go. I agree with the with the the
- 29:21category by though, obviously I think he's a great buy low right
- 29:23now, but I do think that he started the season so hot that
- 29:27if you're buying low, expecting him to get back to that level,
- 29:30it's like little Carlson. I don't think it's going to be
- 29:32what you were doing early season, right.
- 29:34I do think that there's a realm here where my expectation for
- 29:37him is like he ends around like a .85 points points per game
- 29:40player. I think it's very realistic your
- 29:43targets, though. I is it crazy for me to think I
- 29:47want Brian Rust or go to the rest of the season like I think
- 29:51I want out of these names. I want Rust and Durfee of over
- 29:54go to rest of season and to me it's because I think yeah, Gotti
- 29:58has insane shots, but in the points are gonna be pretty
- 30:01close. I think Russ gets close to a
- 30:02point per game, which I think he does almost every year.
- 30:05His shots are going to be around 3 which got you will beat that
- 30:08which is still exceptional, but the power play I like it more as
- 30:11well. So more points, more power play
- 30:13points there a favor. I feel like it is in the same
- 30:15boat, like you might get slightly less points but way
- 30:17more power play points and the shots are still leave for their
- 30:21favorite hovering around 3 that I'm still happy with that over
- 30:24to him So but Stamkos I would flip in a heartbeat, Produce I
- 30:28would slip in a heartbeat, Demonoid flip in a heartbeat.
- 30:30So if those can get the deal done, then I'm laughing.
- 30:35Yeah, so for again, fully agree with the with the buy low in
- 30:39terms of the targets, definitely Stamkos produce, Demidov are the
- 30:43easy ones. Demanov actually at first I was
- 30:45like, but he's been so good. But I'm like, no, that's exactly
- 30:47why it's a great sell high buy low.
- 30:48So so no, those are great in terms of Dora Phev, I'm taking
- 30:53Gautier over him. I like this.
- 30:55I think that like I think Garfield will get significantly
- 30:58more power play points, but I think the points are going to be
- 31:01similar and I think the shots difference is just like Dorff,
- 31:04let's say he gets 3.1 thoughts like that like go take getting
- 31:08almost four shots a game. It's just so elite at that level
- 31:10that if their points are similar, I'm willing to take
- 31:13that, even if the power play points aren't necessarily the.
- 31:16Same taking an extra .3 power play points or extra .25 power
- 31:20play points over like .89 shots. I mean, if you think that
- 31:25they're ending at the same amount of points, then I could
- 31:27see that. I think Gotee is getting more
- 31:28points than Dorff as well. So I think that and I also think
- 31:31the shots gonna be like a full shot difference.
- 31:33I'm like that or like .8 shots. So for all those reasons, I'm
- 31:36taking go to Overdorff. But I can see, I can see your
- 31:39point of view on that one. And then Rust, an interesting
- 31:41one where he's such a clear cell high right now.
- 31:43And the question is, can you aim higher than Gautier or is this a
- 31:46good one? And in terms of points, I see
- 31:48Russ standing at like .9 to .95 and then power play points.
- 31:53Rust obviously will have the edge and then shots go.
- 31:55It has the huge edge. So I'm still leaning with
- 31:58goatee. I also think rust is super
- 31:59squishy, so I kind of want him off my team at this point, like
- 32:03especially with how well he's been doing.
- 32:04Obviously Penguins have a great playoff schedule, something to
- 32:07keep in mind, but I like all the targets.
- 32:09The two I'm I agree with Kevin that the two I'm most wary of
- 32:12our Rust and Dora Fev like you may be able to get honestly,
- 32:15Dorff. I think like that this is like a
- 32:17perfect buy low sell high. Like I think like it doesn't
- 32:19feel great right now, but I think it would be great.
- 32:21Russ, I think you may just be able to get more for him, but
- 32:23I'm still happier. Got you.
- 32:24So I like all the targets. Yeah, yeah, it's OK.
- 32:30It's a fun one. The Ducks.
- 32:31It is a fun one. Two weeks from now, I, I, I'm
- 32:33really excited for the, the, the review because where the ducks
- 32:36are at and for sure gonna be really.
- 32:38Really. Yeah, I would love to have
- 32:40Gotti. Would be targeting him in trades
- 32:41for sure. But yeah, yeah.
- 32:44Anyways, let's go to our cell highs.
- 32:47My cell high for this week is big Val Nichushkin of the
- 32:52Colorado Avalanche. So over the past month,
- 32:56Nichushkin is averaging 1.08 points per game with 0 power
- 33:00play points for most of the year in Tuscan has been kept off
- 33:03power play one. But now he's finally getting the
- 33:05chance. So why am I recommending to sell
- 33:07him now when he's finally getting the shot and he's shown
- 33:09that he could get over a point per game without the power place
- 33:12so he should only be going up. Well firstly the apps have the
- 33:1531st ranked power play in the league.
- 33:17It's baffling with all their star power how they could be so
- 33:20bad but it's been an issue for them for a while.
- 33:22Because of these struggles the coach has been swapping players
- 33:24on and off all season with nobody being safe other than
- 33:26McKinnon. My car even natures got bumped
- 33:28off in the current iteration. Nature has not power play one.
- 33:31Nobody is safe other than McKenna car.
- 33:34I don't trust anyone other than those two players to hold on to
- 33:36power play one rest of season. And even with the deployment
- 33:38their play is not even very good.
- 33:39So I think people are putting a lot of stock and whose power
- 33:42play one on Colorado? Who gets to play on that unit?
- 33:44Oh, someone's probably gonna have to grab him, you know.
- 33:46But like, it's not even a good power play if it's like people
- 33:49getting excited because someone on, you know, power play one of
- 33:52Calgary, right? Like it's just, it's not an
- 33:54exciting CarPlay, which is very counterintuitive based on the
- 33:57players who are there. So if you can sell in Tustin,
- 34:00while he has elite deployment and has been putting up great
- 34:02numbers, he has enough name value that should be able to get
- 34:04someone solidly on a much stronger power play 1 unit.
- 34:07So some targets I'm looking at Adrian Kempe.
- 34:10We've been talking about him as a bio for a while.
- 34:12He's looking like he's honestly power play right now, but I
- 34:15don't expect that to stick long term.
- 34:17Yes for Brad is the bias low of the by laws and the existence of
- 34:21buy lows. If he wasn't on Kevin's team, I
- 34:23would be sending daily offers to the rat owner with every player
- 34:27on my team who I think is worse than rat, which is a lot but but
- 34:31yeah, so Brad would be a huge one.
- 34:32Ovechkin we highlighted as a bi lo last week.
- 34:35He's been turning it up a bit, but I still think it's
- 34:37potentially get done. Seth Jarvis is an interesting
- 34:40one. I think he it seems like you
- 34:42might not be out as long as people expected.
- 34:44But honestly, if you have the room for the our stash, I would
- 34:46much prefer Jarvis over in Tustin.
- 34:47So these are kind of targets I'm looking.
- 34:51Yeah, I I actually really like the way that that we're looking
- 34:54at this now because we always target power play one overall.
- 34:58And and it's just shocking to me that a team this elite has had
- 35:02such a horrible power play. And I don't think there's any
- 35:05way that Nichushkin supplants natures with McKinnon, even
- 35:09strength, and they're usually both right wing.
- 35:12I know nutrition could kind of go to the other side, but
- 35:15Landeskog, McKinnon and nature seems like it's like a pretty
- 35:20solid line. And that to me is clearly more
- 35:22meaningful than the power play where 31, that's just nuts.
- 35:27I can't believe that's actually the case.
- 35:28So I really like this is a suggestion and I agree with all
- 35:32the targets as well and I think they're attainable.
- 35:36Yeah, I think also he's the perfect player to try to send
- 35:40for those IR stashes. Like I'm thinking even JT Miller
- 35:44I think is a good target because I'd much rather have J Miller
- 35:47the rest of season, especially in the Bangers league.
- 35:49And when that playoff schedule and Nichushkin, like The thing
- 35:53is, it's tough too, because what if Nichushkin on people you want
- 35:57is what solves the power play? And then that becomes like the
- 36:00floor was value, right? Is that in the back of your mind
- 36:03that like not that this could be making a mistake or like you're
- 36:06not worried about that risk at all of letting the trust can
- 36:09actually gets the good deployment and it sticks Do
- 36:14soccer not renewed. About that, first of all, not.
- 36:17Compared to the targets. First of all, yeah, compared to
- 36:19the targets you're aiming high enough that I'm happier with
- 36:21them even if they sticks and I I really see like I'm willing to
- 36:25beer. But anyone that Nichushkin
- 36:27within let's say 3 weeks, he won't be power play 1.
- 36:31If either of you will feel confident that he's sticking on
- 36:33the power play, I'll take that bet because I've been watching
- 36:35those lines all season and in one week to the next one day to
- 36:38the next. Look about last week, you guys
- 36:40were roasting me for taking Troy Terry over Gabe Landeskog
- 36:42because I said Landis's not going to be power play 1 within
- 36:45two weeks. And what happens two days later?
- 36:47Landis's not on powerfully one. There's no one who's safe other
- 36:51and I honestly, I didn't even see coming the nature bump off.
- 36:54I didn't realize it was that bad.
- 36:56But there's literally no one safe on that unit, other
- 36:58mechanic car. So I'm putting 0 stock into
- 37:01that, but I think a lot of people just look at daily
- 37:02faceoff, they check, they see who's on power play 1, they're
- 37:04like, oh, who's in power play 1 / a point per game.
- 37:06In the past month only upside was 0 power play points.
- 37:09Like it's such a good story to sell that you can definitely get
- 37:13a big a big step up in return. Because I think I'm just putting
- 37:17myself in the shoes of like the listeners who have the shooting
- 37:19on their team. They're like, they've been
- 37:21holding, they've been, you know, reaping the rewards for the last
- 37:24month. He just scored a hat trick, you
- 37:26know, and he had people wondering like game, even though
- 37:28the goal on the power play. So you're like, OK, like
- 37:31finally, like the deployment is here.
- 37:33So even better for my guy. And now we're telling them like,
- 37:37no, he got it for one game. He succeeded, but it's not going
- 37:39to last. So I just like, I, I, I agree
- 37:42with you, but I'm just trying to put myself in the shoes like the
- 37:44people listening to this and being like.
- 37:46Sometimes are. Never.
- 37:47Never comfortable, you know, like if you're feeling super
- 37:50comfortable in a cell high, then that probably means that
- 37:52everyone else can see from a mile away that he's a cell high
- 37:54and you're not gonna get anyone for him.
- 37:56If like if you're kind of wary about it, that means that he's
- 37:58gonna have name value and pull in a trade.
- 38:01And like I will also. Say my favorite target.
- 38:03Yeah, I will also say one more thing for Nichushkin is there's
- 38:06also always the question mark of like, will he get injured?
- 38:10Will he do something stupid and end up, you know, suspended or
- 38:13something like that? Like just disappear?
- 38:15Like, when was the last time this guy played a full season,
- 38:17right? So that's an added risk that I'm
- 38:19just happy to get off my team, yeah.
- 38:22Yep, yeah, I think just for Brad is like we haven't highlighted
- 38:25him this episode. So because we we always try to
- 38:27change the names every episode so that we're highlighting new
- 38:30players that have opportunities to be traded for.
- 38:32But if you've been listening, guys, we talked about, yes,
- 38:34Brett so much like he's a Britton point of early season
- 38:37where we were just like, listen week after week after week
- 38:40buying low. I think Nichushkin freeze bread
- 38:42is a slam dunk trade if you can pull that off.
- 38:44And I think it's really feasible, right?
- 38:45Now, yeah, that would be amazing.
- 38:48Yeah, in a way it seems like the most, well, I guess Jarvis has
- 38:52been hurt so. So I'll kind of take him out of
- 38:54the equation. But between Kempe, Brat and
- 38:56Ovechkin, I feel like Brad's the most attainable and can have the
- 38:59best reward, so I also think it's the best target.
- 39:02Yeah, alright, Kevin, who do you got for us on your cell high?
- 39:07All right, my cell hides my favorite player.
- 39:10Like, no, I'm gonna talk about Mackenzie Weigher of the Calgary
- 39:16Flames. I listen, it feels crazy to talk
- 39:19about Wigger in this category because of how bad he's been
- 39:21this year. Last season, he was averaging
- 39:230.58 points per game. This season, he's averaging 0.35
- 39:27points per game. However, over the last month,
- 39:30he's at 0.75 and 1.2 points per game over the last two weeks.
- 39:35So on the season he's at .35 and we're the last two weeks 1.2.
- 39:39So it kind of just shows that like a lot of his production
- 39:41this year has been over like the last month.
- 39:45And yes, his bangers are still elite, although his hits are, I
- 39:48would say over the last few weeks less than you would
- 39:51expect, but that happens even with the best banger guys.
- 39:53But I wanted to highlight because I think Calgary is a bad
- 39:56team, is offensive capabilities this year are cooked.
- 40:00And I just don't think that he's going to live up to the
- 40:04reputation that he had before the year started.
- 40:06Like he was a top five draft pick for defenseman.
- 40:09And I think he was considered the biggest bust of the season
- 40:13because you thought you were getting like basically a most
- 40:15sider type of player where the bangs are elite.
- 40:17He's got power play 1 and maybe not the most points, but still
- 40:20something there. You got 0 points the whole
- 40:22season, no power play and the banks are still great.
- 40:25So I think Mackenzie Weegar right now is just like he's
- 40:29finally living up to, let's say, the name value that he had and
- 40:32the draft category that he had. But this 2-3 week sample size is
- 40:36not convincing me that I want him on my roster rest of season.
- 40:39And I think it's giving you a window to trade him and
- 40:43capitalize on, you know, the perceived value of what he was
- 40:46supposed to be and get somebody actually consistent on your
- 40:50roster. I think I, I put this very
- 40:52similar to like the Thatcher Demko trade that I suggested a
- 40:54few weeks ago. We just talked about on the
- 40:56podcast where you know Vancouver was is a bad team.
- 41:00He is not the same guy he used to be.
- 41:02He had a stretch of like 2 weeks where he performed exceptionally
- 41:06and people were like alright, he's got the name value.
- 41:07We know we saw it in the past like he's back guys and then it
- 41:10becomes abysmal again. I'm not saying we gotta go
- 41:13straight back to zeros, but I don't think it's going to be
- 41:15nearly good as this like last year was probably an amazing
- 41:20year for Uyghur. He didn't get .6 points per
- 41:22game. Now he's doubling down over the
- 41:23last two weeks. Guys, get him off your roster
- 41:26right now. Capitalize on it.
- 41:27I think you can get star talent on your team if you can still
- 41:31get Quinn Hughes. You just had a four point game.
- 41:33So I feel bad mentioning him, but like it.
- 41:36I still think if you look at the averages, it's somewhat feasible
- 41:38and if that team needs bangers, then that's maybe even better.
- 41:42Sanderson I think is the perfect target right now.
- 41:44Guys like he's he's my favorite defenseman at Target as a buy
- 41:47low right now. I think Jake Sanderson has way
- 41:49better days ahead of him. We talked about the
- 41:50inconsistencies, but I'm super confident that I want him over
- 41:53my in my roster over McKenzie Wigger.
- 41:55I think you can get McAvoy plus right now.
- 41:57I think you can get chicken plus right now.
- 41:59I think you can get more C right now.
- 42:01All these guys, Wigger was drafted ahead of them in the
- 42:03draft. Now, these guys have been better
- 42:06than him for most of the season, but right now he's better than
- 42:08all of them. So I think there's a rare
- 42:11opportunity to capitalize on a guy that you almost dropped
- 42:14earlier in the season. Yeah, like this, this is the
- 42:18Bangor management Cinderella story that I was referring to
- 42:20earlier. It's it's and Kevin and I
- 42:24checked he was your choice in week five, OK.
- 42:27And at the time the. Targets that you sell high.
- 42:29To buy low and now he's a sell high so it's.
- 42:32Like. Well, exactly.
- 42:35But but the the targets at the time, you had Lacombe, Miro,
- 42:39Heiskanen, Trueba and like Morgan Riley and Darnell Nurse.
- 42:44And now we're talking about and that made sense at the time and
- 42:47it also makes sense at this time right now that you're thinking
- 42:51of. I mean, Quinn Hughes is a bit
- 42:53tough, but Sanderson, McAvoy, Chickering, Morrissey, all of
- 42:56these guys are like so much more elite than the ones that you
- 43:01were talking about. And it's like, this is really
- 43:03tough for the Uighur owner because, you know, you, you were
- 43:05just talking about this, like similarly with Nichushkin, you
- 43:08held them all year, You drafted him high.
- 43:10And now it's like finally time He's producing.
- 43:14Wow. I can't believe I've waited so
- 43:15long for this and like to actually to get over the hump,
- 43:19the mental hump and just being like, OK, yeah, now I got to
- 43:21sell him. It sucks, but you can get way
- 43:25better return. And I mean, it's, it's nice to
- 43:29see that he's done well, but it's just the the crux of all of
- 43:31this is that Calgary sucks and he's not going to be what he was
- 43:35last year. And I think there's a huge
- 43:36opportunity. So I really like this choice.
- 43:40Yeah, I, I fully agree with it. I love the targets.
- 43:42Obviously the queen who's 4.9 I think kind of puts the, yeah,
- 43:46you know, the end to that one cause he has been really bad.
- 43:49But now then now there's no way. I just don't see it.
- 43:52Sanderson is the perfect target, as you said, I think that can
- 43:54get done. And then all these other ones,
- 43:56I'd rather them over weaker. So if you can get them plus
- 43:58that's just a bonus. But even one for one, I would
- 44:00take them. Yeah, totally.
- 44:04All right, Jake, take us home. Yes, OK.
- 44:08So I'm not just choosing this one to prove to the listeners
- 44:13that we're not we're not homers, although it is a nice bonus.
- 44:18I'm going with Noah Dobson of the Montreal Canadiens, which I
- 44:22still like to hear because he is a good player, but there are
- 44:24reasons that he's a sell high in fantasy and here we go.
- 44:29Dobson has been on absolute fire lately and this coincides with
- 44:32the Canadians being a very high scoring team in the month of
- 44:35December. Over the last month, the Habs
- 44:38have been scoring at 3.44 goals per game pace, whereas in the
- 44:42previous month they were at 3.16 goals per game.
- 44:46They also sit at second in the NHL in shooting percentage at
- 44:5013.1. That's basically double cutter
- 44:53goutieres by the way. I'm just saying so right there
- 44:58we can see some team wide potential for regression.
- 45:01I'm signaling out Dobson here because there's no clear path
- 45:04for him to hit power play one unless there's a huts and injury
- 45:08who? Also I think Layton Hudson is a
- 45:10cell high because he's even better than Dobson, but it'll
- 45:13least Hudson has the power play 1.
- 45:16Additionally, we have a very similar case to look at from
- 45:19this year which is Chickering and Carlson in Washington who
- 45:22were performing at an elite level and we said at the time
- 45:25that one if not both were bound to regress and both of them have
- 45:30particularly Carlson whose power play to at least with the
- 45:34Washington example, both D men were on power play one at the
- 45:37time that they were performing really well.
- 45:39But for the Habs, it seems to be censored on them being a super
- 45:43high scoring team as of late and Dobson benefiting greatly from
- 45:46that. Even though these power played
- 45:49to the entire time. There are many selling points
- 45:52for this, such as the Habs have a lot of injuries.
- 45:55So they're slump in December. Sorry that they're slump from
- 45:58November was normal. And also, you know, now that
- 46:04basically they they paid Dobson more money than Hudson.
- 46:07So they're going to be giving him top minutes and
- 46:09opportunities for success. However, with all that, as we
- 46:13like to say on the podcast, the lack of power play one,
- 46:16especially for defensemen, is really going to hinder his
- 46:21potential. If there were ever an injury to
- 46:24Hudson, God forbid, then Dobson becomes a top 10 fantasy
- 46:28defenseman. But at the time of this
- 46:30recording, Hudson has yet to miss a game in his entire NHL
- 46:33career. Cool sunglasses emoji and Dobson
- 46:35is air quotes. Unfortunately, being relegated
- 46:39to being a top tier IRL D man, that makes a real positive
- 46:44difference for the Canadians, but he's simply overperforming.
- 46:481.33 points per game over the last two weeks and .5 power play
- 46:52points in that span on power play 2.
- 46:55What makes no sense. So some good targets here.
- 47:01There's probably gonna be some overlap with the Wieger choice,
- 47:05but there's they're they're good choice overall.
- 47:09Yeah. Jacob Chikurin, Matthew
- 47:12Schaefer, Shane Goss, The spirit if healthy by the time you hear
- 47:16this because I do think he's going to overtake Nikishin on
- 47:18the power play one when he comes back, I hope Josh Morrissey and
- 47:22just to sprinkle in a forward over here, Adam Fantilli.
- 47:25What do y'all think? Yeah, this is this is a great
- 47:29one. I will say 2 notes. 1 is you're
- 47:33probably not going to find a power play 2 defenseman who gets
- 47:36more power play time than Dobson in the league.
- 47:38But I still agree with all this. But I'm just saying he does get
- 47:41a surprising amount of power play time for a power play
- 47:43defenseman again, still fully agree.
- 47:45And then also the fact that have been injured may be being what's
- 47:49boosting Dobson because you have a guy like Kaden Gully out.
- 47:52That's just way more minutes that have to be spread around to
- 47:54the other defensemen. Guli should be back within the
- 47:56next few weeks, which should bring Dobson down in terms of
- 47:58the back cats at least, because he'll be playing less of those,
- 48:01you know, minutes where he would be blocking shots type of thing.
- 48:03So definitely fully agree with all this.
- 48:06All these targets I would take over him.
- 48:08I think chickens, probably the best chicken or Morrissey are
- 48:11the two best ones and I think they you can get those done.
- 48:14But yeah, I'll take, I'll take all these guys over Dobson.
- 48:16So I like it a lot. I knew Dobson was going to be a
- 48:20cell high when I think he played Josh like 2 weeks ago.
- 48:23And Josh? I saw that.
- 48:24Don't happen in the group chat. And the guy put up.
- 48:26How do you get rid of the same amount of points as McDavid?
- 48:31McDavid was 5 point game and Dobson put up the same amount of
- 48:35points. Him over that week is ridiculous
- 48:37but I'm over it. Yeah.
- 48:38So I knew this was coming and I'm happy that Jackie got to
- 48:42talk about it on the podcast. Unless yes, guys, we are having
- 48:45friends, but it's always fantasy over over everything, right?
- 48:47So I, I love this pic. I think your targets are are
- 48:51great. I yeah, I was saying my
- 48:54favorites are also like, I think chicken right now and Josh
- 48:56Morris here are the ones that I would love to target because
- 48:58they're a little bit of bylaws in their own right.
- 49:01So, yeah, not just nothing else to add, but I, I, I'm, I love
- 49:06this pic, Jackie. Yeah, you.
- 49:08Thank you, Jake. Schaefer is the one I was like,
- 49:11I kinda want him the least because the Islanders I don't
- 49:16even. Know this but he's gonna he was
- 49:18very popping off early season and it's.
- 49:20Yeah, but he's also gonna be the toughest to acquire, so he's
- 49:22like the last resort here. He's the toughest to acquire.
- 49:27Like, I still think Chicken Morris, you're harder to.
- 49:29Acquire RC yeah for. Sure.
- 49:30Yeah, OK. Listen, like those are the top
- 49:34names to go for, I would say, and Goss Aspire also.
- 49:37It's like it's kind of annoying, especially with the injury.
- 49:41But I think it's very feasible. Yeah, it could be a really good
- 49:45swap and I feel like the Dobson owner would be even like
- 49:49hesitant to do that. But don't be like you should and
- 49:53you'll get back a power play one guy who's been really decent all
- 49:55year so. Yeah.
- 49:57OK love this episode. This is the first one since I've
- 50:01been back so. I was gonna say.
- 50:03Very high back. Very high.
