- 0:04Imagine being a coach and you are about to put together this great basketball team.
- 0:11Of course, you want the biggest and the fastest players.
- 0:16Now imagine you wanna put a football team together.
- 0:20You want the strongest, the fastest, the tallest, the great arm, all of these, the good doctors.
- 0:26So you can have a great team.
- 0:29Imagine God, he is building his team of kingdom workers.
- 0:36What do you think his team would look like?
- 0:40What he picked the best, the most?
- 0:43The people with the best character, the people with the best background, the money, the prestige.
- 0:50But we go after those people that.
- 0:53Don't line up.
- 0:55I go to one Corinthians one verse 27.
- 1:00Let's see what the word of God says in verse 25 and 26.
- 1:07He says, because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is Christ than men.
- 1:16For ye see your calling brethren.
- 1:22How that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called by what 27 says, but God has chosen the foolish thing of the world.
- 1:39To what?
- 1:40Confound to wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound.
- 1:49The things which are mighty.
- 1:52Now I know we read that, but let me ask you a question.
- 1:57What does the word confound mean?
- 1:59Because if you don't know what confound means, you don't know what he is saying.
- 2:04Let's go and pull up the word confound, cause surprise, or confusion in someone, especially by acting against their expectation.
- 2:18God says, I'm gonna pick those people you don't expect nothing out of.
- 2:23And I'm gonna make them wise.
- 2:25I'm gonna pick those weak people that you know are weak, but yet I'm gonna make them strong.
- 2:30Oh, let's get in the word.
- 2:31Let's get in the word now.
- 2:32Answer the title for the message.
- 2:34Those God have chosen.
- 2:38Oh, come on now, he, now we getting an understanding of how God think about his wisdom.
- 2:45He said, I'm not gonna pick those people who have a stable foundation in the family.
- 2:50I'm gonna pick those people.
- 2:51You be like, they're not gonna make it.
- 2:53I'm not gonna pick those people who are s strong in their character.
- 2:57I'm gonna pick those people who are not.
- 3:00Of that capability.
- 3:01Let's go back to the word now.
- 3:03Let's go back to the, in the book one Kings Chapter 19, verse one through four.
- 3:08I'm not gonna read the whole story, I'm gonna tell you about it, but I'll tell you where I get it from.
- 3:13Eli requested that he might not, Elijah is going through depression because Jezebel decided she's going to kill the man of God.
- 3:28Elijah runs from Jezebel, a woman, but yet he goes through depression.
- 3:36He sits on a Judit tree and he asks God that he die.
- 3:43Come on now.
- 3:44You ain't never been depressed.
- 3:46But Elijah is showing us that he's not used to this kind of pressure.
- 3:55He's showing us that even the man of God who just prophesied that it's not gonna rain for three and a half years, he still can go through some things even though God is using Elijah for this mighty great work.
- 4:12It shows us.
- 4:14He's got some issues.
- 4:17I know you're saying to yourself, okay, I hear you with Elijah.
- 4:20We talking about those.
- 4:22God has chosen.
- 4:23He said, I don't choose things like you choose them.
- 4:26I choose the people you don't expect nothing out of.
- 4:28And I make them wise.
- 4:30I choose the weak people of this world and I make them strong.
- 4:34But if we going on, we know of this man called Moses.
- 4:39In the Book of accident, chapter four, verse 10, he said, and Morgan said it to the Lord, oh my Lord.
- 4:45I am not eloquent, neither, therefore here un for nor sense.
- 4:53Thou have spoken, but I am slow of speech and of a slow town.
- 4:59What is Moses say?
- 5:01I don't speak that well.
- 5:04The word, if you really look the word up, he says, he's not persuasive in speaking how you want me to come and talk to Pharaoh when I'm not a good speaker?
- 5:18I stutter.
- 5:19I, I'm slow to get my word across.
- 5:23Just imagine those God has chosen.
- 5:29See, we all can come up with an excuse.
- 5:32But God says, I'm going to go after those people you don't expect nothing out of, and I'm gonna make them wise.
- 5:39I'm going to go after those people that I went through some things and I'm gonna make them strong.
- 5:45I know you say to yourself, yeah, that sounds good, but you ain't know what I went through in my life.
- 5:51I got you.
- 5:52I hear you.
- 5:53That makes perfect sense.
- 5:56Let's talk about this man called Saul.
- 6:00He was, you know Saul, we know him as Paul in Father Acts chapter nine, verse five.
- 6:07What are we saying now those God has chosen?
- 6:12And he said, who are Lord?
- 6:16And the Lord says, if I am Jesus whom thou persecuted.
- 6:22What did Saul do?
- 6:24He killed and enslaved God's people.
- 6:29I want you to think about that.
- 6:30Now, see, we have done some things wrong and we think, well, God can't use this, but Saul, which is Paul, he killed Christians.
- 6:44Saul, which we know is Paul.
- 6:46He what?
- 6:48Enslaved Christians, he is on his way with paperwork from the high priests to go to Damascus because they're in another jurisdiction and bring them back to Jerusalem and persecute them.
- 7:04And then the Lord.
- 7:06Came and called him now outta all the people the Lord can call.
- 7:11Do you mean there ain't no apostle He could?
- 7:14No, he called Paul, which we know his name was Saul.
- 7:20What was he showing us?
- 7:21In his word.
- 7:24I'm calling those people.
- 7:26You don't think I'm gonna call?
- 7:28I'm calling those people.
- 7:30You said that person's character don't line up with my word.
- 7:33I'm calling those people that you would've never.
- 7:37Thought about is a person of God, but he says, yes, I called them and I've commissioned them to do my work.
- 7:45Now I know you're saying to yourself, I've never seen it that way, but now I understand.
- 7:52It is not that you gotta be worthy.
- 7:54It is he's worthy.
- 7:55It is not that you gotta understand.
- 7:58He understands.
- 7:59Okay.
- 7:59I know you say those God have houses.
- 8:05Let's go on and let's deal with a man called Joshua in the book of Joshua, chapter six, verse 25.
- 8:13We are not talking about Joshua, we're talking about the book that he wrote.
- 8:17He told a story about a woman named Rahab, who is Rahab a Hol in chapter six, verse 25.
- 8:25It tells you she's a hol.
- 8:29What is a hol?
- 8:31In Matthew chapter one, verse five, Boaz Rehab, which is that Hol, what is it?
- 8:40Hollet.
- 8:42She's a prostitute.
- 8:44She pays for sex.
- 8:46People pay her for sex.
- 8:49Now, you would think.
- 8:53How can God use her?
- 8:56You know, in the church today, you stand up and give a confession that you used to be a prostitute.
- 9:03You are not gonna last a year.
- 9:04Why?
- 9:05Oh, they ain't gonna forget that you made some mistake.
- 9:10They ain't gonna, they gonna forget that.
- 9:12But look at God, rehab marries boy.
- 9:21Boaz is the son of rehab.
- 9:27Uh, look at God now.
- 9:29That's the Boaz followed the genealogy to Jesus.
- 9:34Boaz, we are not talking.
- 9:36Y'all not talking to me now y'all, y'all wanna understand now, Boaz, I've been married, um, Ruth, boy as married, Ruth, which is the son.
- 9:45My fault of the prostitutes Ray.
- 9:51Now I want you to think about that.
- 9:52Now, see, we had a story, but can you imagine what he went through knowing his mother's a prostitute?
- 10:04What do you think is the chance of people forgetting that little bit of information?
- 10:13What is the possibility that we could take that boy as and make him a preacher today?
- 10:22What is the chances of we even accepting him?
- 10:27Your mother is a prostitute, a hollist, but look at God.
- 10:33He said, I used those people that the world would consider.
- 10:40Weak.
- 10:41I used those people that the word was said they cannot measure up to society, but yet God says I use them.
- 10:51That's why in First Corinthians chapter 1 27, he said, I don't think like you, I take those people that you don't think have a chance.
- 11:04I ain't talking about, I ain't talking for you to really understand this.
- 11:07I'm telling you a spiritual principle that God has been using all allowed.
- 11:12We could go on and talk about this young man named David.
- 11:16His father didn't even see him worthy to be the king.
- 11:20So when Samuel says, bring your sons, he don't even call David.
- 11:26Come on now, let's talk now.
- 11:28Let's be real now.
- 11:30Sometimes you want to be a part of your family and don't even call you when they have get togethers.
- 11:39Please talk.
- 11:40Ain't anybody wanna talk to me today?
- 11:41Now I guess I'll go ahead and talk to myself now.
- 11:43There are times when the teacher look at you and tell you, uh, look, hey, you, you aiming too high.
- 11:50I, I I, I, if I was you, I wouldn't plan on being in no profession.
- 11:55I'd just go ahead and get a job.
- 11:58Doing whatever and it be a bag or at a grocery store.
- 12:01You need to do something that don't require a lot of intellect.
- 12:07I'm just being real now.
- 12:08I'm telling you some things that you don't understand, but because God don't do things as we see it, I know you're saying to yourself, okay, come on now and tell me a little bit about me, pastor.
- 12:19Gimme some information so I can run.
- 12:22See when we know we are not worthy.
- 12:26Now the Lord says, okay, I can use you when we know we don't speak that well.
- 12:32Like Moses, the Lord says, yeah, I can use you when we know our parents got a pass.
- 12:37The Lord says, I can use you when you know you done messed up in this life.
- 12:42The Lord says, guess what?
- 12:43I can use you because the world don't expect you to be anything.
- 12:50Okay?
- 12:50Okay.
- 12:50Okay.
- 12:51Okay.
- 12:51Come on now.
- 12:51Come on now.
- 12:52I I, I remember a young man.
- 12:56He was telling me the story of how his father hated him.
- 13:03His father didn't even want to see him.
- 13:06And as he's talking to me and I'm telling him, I said, but guess what?
- 13:10It's all right now.
- 13:12He couldn't see what I was seeing.
- 13:15I know the word, so I understand how much it hurts.
- 13:21But I also understand the God I serve because he says, I know your father rejected you, but I'm not.
- 13:31I'm gonna use you.
- 13:33See, I used to love this movie, the Water Boy.
- 13:37Because you expect a water boy to be no great player wise.
- 13:43He is unexpected.
- 13:45He's not the biggest.
- 13:46He's not the fastest.
- 13:48He is not the smartest.
- 13:49He is not even come from a great family.
- 13:54But watch that movie was a great concept of God.
- 14:04God would not only give him a chance.
- 14:07But he made him great.
- 14:09Why?
- 14:10Because that's how God do it.
- 14:13You know, I look at a lot of preachers.
- 14:15They look at me and like, who called you?
- 14:19Uh, that would be God, that ain't me.
- 14:22I have no intention of going this direction.
- 14:25They just said, well, how do you know so much?
- 14:27Ah, that ain't me again.
- 14:29I don't have nothing to do with that.
- 14:30That's all God.
- 14:33Now they go home and they scratch their head thinking.
- 14:37How did that happen?
- 14:38Well, let's go back to the word.
- 14:40The word is confound cause surprise or confusion in someone, especially by acting against their expectations.
- 14:52I remember people in school look at certain people and says, you're not gonna mount to much.
- 15:01Wow.
- 15:03Wow.
- 15:05But I've watched God take the same person that our educator said even mouthing us.
- 15:13And not only are they very well off, they better off than the teacher, they better off than anybody else in the class.
- 15:21Why?
- 15:21Because God says, I know you didn't expect nothing, but that's not the way I operate.
- 15:30Imagine being successful.
- 15:36Husband and wife, full successful business, and they have this one child, man, this child is gifted.
- 15:45This child can do.
- 15:46Everybody love him.
- 15:47I mean this child is doing and they got this other child, they be like, how did he come in?
- 15:53Or she come in to our family.
- 15:56This doesn't line up and they don't expect nothing out of them.
- 15:59They don't put no pressure on'em.
- 16:01They expect nothing.
- 16:02Hey, look, hey, you went to school today.
- 16:04Hey, look, you did all right by me.
- 16:06They ain't expecting no ass.
- 16:08They're not even caring about B.
- 16:10If you can see, we can see our way through school, but they're expecting nothing.
- 16:17But that one child, they didn't groom this child.
- 16:21This child got piano lesson you talking to, going to the speech therapist, they doing whatever they need to to groom that one child for greatness.
- 16:33Then life happens.
- 16:35They get on drugs.
- 16:38Whatever happened to go through depression, they go through whatever they go through, and that one child didn't expect nothing out of.
- 16:46God, not only elevate that child, but that child is the one they're looking at to now help them out in their elderly days.
- 16:56Why?
- 16:57That's God.
- 16:59He said, you didn't expect nothing outta this one, but watch me operate.
- 17:05Oh, okay.
- 17:05You ain't nobody wanna hear what I got to say.
- 17:07See, see what happens.
- 17:09We think we know the word of God and God says, okay, ma'am, I'm gonna start introducing you to things that don't light up.
- 17:17I used to have, I used to have people talk about I, I'm a pastor's child and that's why I'm a pastor and I'm a, well, guess what?
- 17:25My daddy was a, he was a heathen.
- 17:29And when I say he's a heathen, if I used to make a joke, if he was walking down the road, if Satan was walking down the road and both of them was waiting over court, I couldn't tell you who was Satan, but yet God called me.
- 17:44God called me.
- 17:46Nobody expected nothing out of me.
- 17:50But watch God.
- 17:52Okay.
- 17:53Okay.
- 17:53Okay, okay, okay.
- 17:54Okay, let's go on.
- 17:54Now, I know sometimes Wewe says, okay, I, okay.
- 17:57Well, think about this man named Peter.
- 18:03Peter was a hothead, but yet the Lord called him.
- 18:12Why?
- 18:14Because Peter, nobody expected nothing.
- 18:21The man, we called him Levi Matthew.
- 18:26Nobody wanted to deal with Matthew.
- 18:28He was a tax collector.
- 18:29Nobody wanted to deal with a tax collector, but yet the Lord called Levi Matthew to follow him.
- 18:38He's following his word.
- 18:41I will do things and I will confound people that you expect nothing out us.
- 18:50Isn't, isn't that erotic?
- 18:53As I look and I listen to the people from family to family to family, they always tell me about the favorite child.
- 19:01They always tell me about the child that they was grooming to be the one that's gonna take care of them.
- 19:08And later on in life, his expectation was too high and got to the other child.
- 19:17What?
- 19:17What child are we talking about?
- 19:18The one did he expect nothing else?
- 19:21The one, the world didn't give a chance to now know you.
- 19:25I know you say to yourself, well God, why do you do things the way you do it?
- 19:30Because he is God.
- 19:33He said, I know the way you think, but I don't think the way you think.
- 19:39Oh, okay.
- 19:40Come on now.
- 19:40We talking about those.
- 19:41God have chosen not me.
- 19:44For years, I could not understand that.
- 19:47I said, why do people try to be God?
- 19:53God says, I don't operate the way you operate.
- 19:55I don't see man as you see him, he said, I judge men by their hearts.
- 20:03Can you imagine that?
- 20:05And doing her path.
- 20:11Can you let me sometimes, I mean, I'm, I'm, I'm just being real with you.
- 20:15Sometimes you gotta take a deep look at yourself and you gotta ask the question, Lord, why you chose me?
- 20:22Because he says, I choose the weak things of this world, and I confounded the S script.
- 20:29They're strong because of me.
- 20:31I choose the people you didn't expect nothing out of.
- 20:33And I make them great.
- 20:34Why?
- 20:35Because there there's nothing you could see in them that worth any expectation coming out of them.
- 20:43Can you imagine Moses thinking, I just killed a man, but yet now the Lord want to use me.
- 20:52The Lord want me to talk to Pharaoh.
- 20:54He is a God in Egypt, but the Lord want me to carry a mess.
- 20:58No, Lord, I ain't ready.
- 21:02Is anyone ready when the Lord call you for such a great deal?
- 21:07I, I, I.
- 21:08That's why I love when I understand why the Lord called me.
- 21:12He says, you couldn't get no more fooling.
- 21:17He said, I called you because nobody expected nothing outta you.
- 21:21Look at the family you come from.
- 21:23Look at all the issues they got.
- 21:25He says, if I start, if you start naming their issues, you could talk for an hour from issue after issue, after issue, after issue, after issue.
- 21:39But yet he didn't come on to you.
- 21:43How come?
- 21:45Everybody does it this way, but you do it this way.
- 21:49Everybody's expectation is this low, but you high.
- 21:52Why?
- 21:53He said, because I touch you.
- 21:55Once.
- 21:55I proclaim you different.
- 22:00Ain't nothing you can do.
- 22:01You're gonna be different.
- 22:03We talking about those guy that showed, so I used to ask myself the question.
- 22:07I said, but Lord, I don't understand why he said, yeah, you did.
- 22:14He, there's a lot of people in this world that nobody expect nothing out of.
- 22:20There's a lot of people in this world thought about suicide because their situation was that bad.
- 22:28He said, but I turned suicide into joy.
- 22:36The average person, if they know some of the things you go through, they'll be like, I, I would be seeing a therapist.
- 22:43Uh, you need to see the therapist, but the therapist's name is Jesus.
- 22:47You need to come to be real and acknowledge who you really are, and now get into the word and watch how God does his work.
- 22:55See, when, you know, I, I, I ain't got a chance, I'll be honest.
- 23:00When I, when I sit at my mother's table and I knew, uh, oh, I don't have a chance.
- 23:04The, the, the way I'm going, no, I ain't got a chance.
- 23:07And I watched the Lord says, okay, what acceptance.
- 23:11Now watch me work.
- 23:14Woo.
- 23:15What One Acceptance.
- 23:17Now see, that's where most people don't come to call it as it is.
- 23:21If you a liar, call yourself a liar.
- 23:24Say, Lord, help me.
- 23:25If you a thief, call yourself a thief.
- 23:28Call it as it is and watch God.
- 23:33He love a challenge.
- 23:37He loved that person that the world gave up on.
- 23:41See, that's why I know people who used to be a drunk.
- 23:45It is.
- 23:46And guess what?
- 23:46I don't drink no more.
- 23:47Why?
- 23:48He's been confounded.
- 23:50I know people who've done drugs.
- 23:51Guess what it was?
- 23:52Drugs.
- 23:53No.
- 23:53Why?
- 23:53He's been con confounded.
- 23:55I know people that whatever is, they were going through law says, watch me go to work.
- 24:03He choose those.
- 24:05People that the world don't give a chance to.
- 24:09Why do you think so many millionaires, kids in a, in some type of institution, whether it's prison, psychiatry, whatever it is, because they expect things out of a, but nobody expects nothing out of a drug dealer child.
- 24:33Why do you think God hide this?
- 24:35You can't get probably 14 churches that can preach this message here, those God has chosen.
- 24:43He said, I don't choose like you choose.
- 24:47I choose according to the heart and it, it's his expectation, not, man, I hope you enjoy hearing the word of God.
- 24:55We are talking about those.
- 24:57God has chosen.
- 24:58They don't look picture perfect, but watch God go to work.
