- 0:00SPEAKER_02: To live your legacy.
- 0:04SPEAKER_02: Live in every story holds a turning point.
- 0:08SPEAKER_02: Living every turn in point holds the poem of a legacy.
- 0:14SPEAKER_03: Well, Grace and greetings.
- 0:15SPEAKER_03: Welcome to Live Your Legacy and Miss You Graham Production.
- 0:20SPEAKER_03: And this is a combination podcast where we explore how life's defining moments shape the legacy we leave behind.
- 0:27SPEAKER_03: I'm your host, Patricia D.
- 0:28SPEAKER_03: Fordenberg, also known as Patty from New York.
- 0:31SPEAKER_03: And this show is rooted in one simple truth: grief is not always about death.
- 0:35SPEAKER_03: Sometimes it comes through life's changes, losses, detours, and new beginnings.
- 0:39SPEAKER_03: And here we speak with entrepreneurs, authors, leaders, and creators who have turned life's defining moments into meaningful work and lasting contributions.
- 0:49SPEAKER_03: Because legacy is not only what we leave behind, it is what we are shaping right now through vision, impact, and purpose.
- 0:55SPEAKER_03: And today I'm honored to welcome our special guest, but you got a sneak peek on before.
- 1:00SPEAKER_03: Yes, you did.
- 1:01SPEAKER_03: Here he is.
- 1:02SPEAKER_03: Come on in.
- 1:02SPEAKER_03: Dr.
- 1:03SPEAKER_03: Pastor Anthony T.
- 1:04SPEAKER_03: Shannon Sr.
- 1:05SPEAKER_03: is an internationally recognized leader, strategist, profitable voice, profitable voice, executive coach, author, speaker, entrepreneur with more than three decades of experience developing leaders, strengthening organizations, equipped and people for their God-given purpose.
- 1:24SPEAKER_03: I'm excited.
- 1:24SPEAKER_03: I was stumbling a little bit there because I'm so happy to have you.
- 1:28SPEAKER_03: I'm honored.
- 1:28SPEAKER_03: Dr.
- 1:29SPEAKER_03: Pastor Anthony D.
- 1:31SPEAKER_03: Shannon, say hello to the people and where are you coming in from today?
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: What up, Dough?
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: 313 is the place to be.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: If either you know or you don't know, we call it what up, doe.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: It's a Detroit thing.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: We're coming all the way live, all the way from Canton, Michigan.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: That's about 30 miles west of Detroit.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: And everybody knows about Detroit.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: And so get up.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: What up, Dough?
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: 313.
- 1:57SPEAKER_03: And I'll be there in a couple of weeks, by the way, but we'll talk about that at the end of the show.
- 2:01SPEAKER_03: But I will be there in a couple of weeks, God willing.
- 2:04SPEAKER_03: Okay, so you know what?
- 2:05SPEAKER_03: Again, thank you for being here on Live Your Legacy where there's vision, impact, and purpose.
- 2:10SPEAKER_03: And thank you for saying yes to be a special guest.
- 2:13SPEAKER_03: And we're gonna go right into something, we're gonna go into hindsight.
- 2:16SPEAKER_03: Would you agree or disagree that hindsight is always 2020 and why?
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no doubt about it.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: People can't really see what they think they can see, because a lot of people can't really see, and so until it happens, and then once things happen, people say the words, hey, hindsight is 2020, because most people can't see the forests because of the trees.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: There's always something beyond what you are looking at.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: If you've been raised in poverty, there's something more beyond poverty.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: If you've been raised that you can't speak, there's something more beyond you can't speak.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: There are possibilities that are awaiting.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: Matter of fact, barriers, barriers are designed to be broken.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: A barrier is only a barrier to the person who agrees with it.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: So the speed limit says 65 on the highway.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: Most people say, okay, I'm only gonna do 65, but there are some people say, you know what?
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: Let me tell you something.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: I gotta break this barrier.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: They do an 85, 90, some do 100 until popular.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: It might slow down for a little bit.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: You understand?
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: They say, you know why I stopped you?
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I was speeding.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, not speeding, brother.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: You were going off the chart, okay?
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: Which indicates that all barriers are meant to be broken, and most people can't see that until after the fact.
- 3:50SPEAKER_03: Wow, that was brilliant.
- 3:53SPEAKER_03: Love analogies, brilliant.
- 3:56SPEAKER_03: Thank you for that.
- 3:57SPEAKER_03: I'm I'm complete.
- 3:58SPEAKER_03: We're gonna keep it going though.
- 3:59SPEAKER_03: We got some love here.
- 4:00SPEAKER_03: Um, Bella, aka Linda Rigby, Ben Planner doing some Stella Woods, our friend Bella.
- 4:07SPEAKER_03: I got some love.
- 4:07SPEAKER_03: Welcome, Dr.
- 4:08SPEAKER_03: Pastor Anthony Hustle.
- 4:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I love I love that.
- 4:11SPEAKER_03: Thank you for engaging on our on our live show here and Grand Rising to me.
- 4:16SPEAKER_03: Thank you so much.
- 4:17SPEAKER_03: I will receive that.
- 4:19SPEAKER_03: So we're gonna keep it moving to our next question.
- 4:22SPEAKER_03: Can you take us back for a moment and share with us a pivotal moment that changed the direction of your life?
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: There's so many pivotal moments, that's for sure, that changed my life because I'm not let me move this out my my face.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: First of all, overcoming, right?
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: I had to overcome a lot of battles that came before them.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: And then I have, then I have now the victory, right?
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: And so there are some victories, I would say it this way, people celebrate without knowing the battles that came before them.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: Let me put it that way, right?
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: Because they see, even like me, speaking, but they do not know that there was a time when learning was difficult, right?
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: They see my confidence, but they didn't know there were seasons when I questioned myself.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: They see the leadership and all the people that have helped all over the country with testimonies of different people and leaders saying, man, it was such impactful, but they do not know what happened behind the closed doors at home.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: They see the person that we become, but they do not always know the child you had to survive and overcome to become who you are today.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: And so I know something about overcoming, right?
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: I know what it means to struggle with learning, with learning disorder, not being able to understand, comprehend, and then come back in a cognitive way.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, that means that.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: No, no, no, no.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: I know what it means to struggle with talking or enunciating and articulating, right?
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: That means to experience difficulty at school while carrying things from home that nobody in the classroom could ever see.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: You follow me?
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: So I've had to overcome all of that in order to become the person I am today.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: And sometimes the child who's struggling in school is not incapable.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: Sometimes that child is carrying a burden that needs some help releasing from them, right?
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: Sometimes the child who cannot concentrate has spent the night trying to survive chaos.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: And sometimes the child labeled difficulty or hurting or needs to be booted out is the child who learns differently begins believing that different means deficient, right?
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: But we got to learn to go beyond what we see, right?
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: We said it earlier in that these people are hurting.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: Hurt people, hurt people, wounded people wound people, people that have no out, no hope, don't know what to do.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: So it has to come out somewhere.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it comes out in anger, sometimes it comes out in disruption, sometimes it comes out in pride or arrogance because really deep down, they really don't know how to overcome the pain.
- 7:21SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 7:22SPEAKER_03: Okay, we are being blessed here today with this information.
- 7:28SPEAKER_03: Right now, I'm thinking and I'm I'm wondering also, and this is not in the lineup of questions, but do you work with schools?
- 7:37SPEAKER_03: Because if we could teach our teachers not to be so quick to label, if you will, what do you say about that?
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: Well, I don't work with schools per se, even though I go in and out of schools, and I do work with several teachers who allow me to come in and address the assemblies or address their own classrooms.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: And and so we we help develop material specifically for the K through 12, right?
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: And what we do is we help them with the process of the process of change is now my new book.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: It's the personal overcoming story into a school appropriate program, right?
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: Covering learning differences, bullying, overcoming difficult home environments, how the children can have resilience, what leadership should look like, adapting to the AI and technology so that people can understand who this person is beyond what we see, because most teachers teach to the smartest student, right?
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: So the smartest students that grasp it, get it, that's what they're teaching, that's what they're running through, moving through.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: The people that can't get it, they kind of move them beyond and say, okay, we got two people that's not with us, okay?
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: So they kind of shift them, right?
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: And if they fall even beyond that, then they say, Well, we need somewhere to go, and we don't want to hold up everybody else, and that's how that works.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: So the challenges may influence how they start, but we want them to look beyond how they start so that we can determine how they can finish.
- 9:16SPEAKER_03: Wow, I feel like that's a book that should be on man in many hands.
- 9:20SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
- 9:21SPEAKER_03: And well, I I hope you have it handy.
- 9:22SPEAKER_03: So when we come to the end, you could share a visual of it.
- 9:25SPEAKER_03: Otherwise, we'll check out the website.
- 9:27SPEAKER_03: But moving right along, what challenge would you say was a blessing in disguise?
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: Well, let's see, which channel it's hard to pick, right?
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but when you have so comes to mind, what comes to mind?
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: I'm like, man, she's got me choked up.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: Let me see.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: I was in the military, we've had challenges there, we've had challenges in college.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: I think this is a good story to share.
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: I wanted to be on the track team in high school, okay?
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: And I was already on the varsity for football, so football was over.
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: I didn't have nothing to do, I didn't want to go home, so I joined the track team.
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: The coach tell us said, okay, in order to make the track team, you got to be on one or two squads.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: And so the first squad, they were very good.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: The second squad was very good.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: So he said I had to run all of them.
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: I had to beat somebody.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: I didn't beat nobody.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: Everybody there was seniors and juniors.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: I beat nobody.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: So he said, Well, you're not gonna be able to make varsity.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: Let's take you down to JV.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: I said, No, no, no, no, no.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: I want to make varsity.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: He said, Well, you didn't beat nobody.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: I said, Was there anything else I can do?
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: He said, Yeah, I need a pole vaulter.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: I said, A what?
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: He said, A pole vaulter.
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: I said, What is that?
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: He said, I'm gonna tell you.
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: So he gave me a book and he gave me the still pole.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: He said, I'm gonna take you over here where you work.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: Now you gotta learn it, right?
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: And I said, Well, how I'm gonna do that.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: He said, I'm gonna give you the book.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: So I took the book, read the book, and began to try to teach myself how to pole vault.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: The pole was a it was a metal pole.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: Now they have the fiberglass poles that bend that kind of throw you up.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: And but I I kept working and working and working day in, day out to overcome this challenge.
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: And he would come test me, I fail.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: Test me, I fail.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: So I was like, Oh man, I'm not gonna make the team.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: And then finally it clicked the pole.
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: I got to go with speed, so I said, Oh, I'm not running back far enough.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: So I would go back, get my speed, and then move to work on my pivot so I could pull myself up.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: And I did.
- 11:47SPEAKER_00: I began to move up six feet, seven feet, eight feet.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: I was jumping feet, and so ten feet was the max.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: I didn't know how to get beyond 10 feet, but it was enough for me to make varsity, it was enough for us to get points when we go to the track meet, and it was enough for me to make all city and all state.
- 12:09SPEAKER_03: Wow, that is such a good story.
- 12:13SPEAKER_03: Wow, oh my gosh.
- 12:15SPEAKER_03: Okay, that's that's really awesome.
- 12:17SPEAKER_03: And you were like doing with the OG pole.
- 12:20SPEAKER_03: I didn't even know that you could read about it.
- 12:22SPEAKER_03: I that's amazing that you learned in theory, and and I love that.
- 12:26SPEAKER_03: I love learning theory first and then putting it into practice.
- 12:29SPEAKER_03: So I didn't know you could do that with sports.
- 12:31SPEAKER_03: I thought you just get thrown in when you learn it just hands-on.
- 12:35SPEAKER_03: But the fact that you were able to learn about it first and then implement that's really, really awesome.
- 12:40SPEAKER_03: So, moving along here, who has been the most memorable mentor in your life?
- 12:44SPEAKER_03: And again, it could be more than one person, but who comes to mind and why?
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: Well, I have definitely several, several people that's impacted my life, going all the way back to my mother, right?
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: When I was born, because I was born dead.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: And so when they said that the you're gonna have the speech impediment, learning disorder, you weren't gonna be able to live a normal life.
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: My mother said, not so.
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: We're not gonna receive that, and we're gonna believe God to make you have a good life.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: She was a prayer warrior, she taught me prayer.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: I have an exclusive, dynamic prayer life.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: It's because of her and my grandmother, who both was impactful beginning, and then we have other people along the journey.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: We have Dr.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: Frenchie, when I was in high school, who became a mentor to me.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: My coach, Coach Tellis, who taught me the pole vaulting and then became like a father figure for me, would pick me up, take me places, encourage me, tell me you're gonna go to college, I'm gonna make sure.
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: It was just been a beautiful thing.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: And then Mr.
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: Jarman, Paul, and Paulette, they were twins, and they just kind of took to me.
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: I took to them every day, every day after school, Mr.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: Jarman and Miss Jarman would have a meal for me.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: I was not I was not their son, but they would have a meal for me.
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: I could come over there even I was ran late.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: The family had eaten, they would say, Shannon, your food is right there, and uh very impactful.
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: He would tell me, Don't let don't let women drive a man.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: You say, Don't do that.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: You say, Every time a man comes to pick my daughter up, I tell him, Look here, she's not driving you.
- 14:30SPEAKER_00: You better have a car to drive her, and you better come knock on the door.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: Don't you blow, you come knock on the door.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: He said, You hear me, Shen?
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: I say, Yes, sir.
- 14:39SPEAKER_03: I like the dramatization, by the way.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: He put all of that in me, and I I hold on to those truths even today.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: And then, of course, we move into Dr.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: Zerbo.
- 14:50SPEAKER_00: Dr.
- 14:50SPEAKER_00: Zerbo taught me about architectural design, how to write my name better because I didn't have a good penmanship.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: And he began to teach me how to write in draftsmanship, how to do architectural draftsman writing and printing.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: And we practice that and practice that to now, of course, I know how to write really, really good.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: I'm even writing books, you see, all because of people like him.
- 15:14SPEAKER_00: And then, of course, we have the spiritual mentors who come into my life, Bishop Ellis and Bishop Murphy, and Bishop Jordan and Bishop Hilliard, and all of these who have impacted my spiritual life, all been impactful for me.
- 15:30SPEAKER_03: Wow, I love that you you could just roll off your your tongue, like they they imprint it on you.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: Absolutely, no doubt about it.
- 15:42SPEAKER_03: That's that's awesome.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: That's really we are a we are a sum total of the books we read and the people we know and the people that have impacted our lives.
- 15:54SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 15:55SPEAKER_03: Well, then I'm excited and honored to call you my friend.
- 15:59SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 16:00SPEAKER_03: Besides just a guess, no doubt.
- 16:02SPEAKER_03: Besides just a guess and your family.
- 16:04SPEAKER_03: I got to meet some of your family, your wonderful wife, Glennis.
- 16:06SPEAKER_03: But anyway, we're gonna move it along here because we could sit here and talk like friends for another few hours.
- 16:11SPEAKER_03: Was there a revelation, personal motto, or lesson that helped guide your journey?
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: Well, in my book, The Sacred Success, right?
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: There comes a season in your life when you must stop asking God merely for enough to survive, right?
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: And begin preparing yourself to steward an overflow, okay, that I think can bless generations.
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: And when I grew up, I didn't grow up with a wealthy family, right?
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: I grew up going through, but as I traveled, I've had the opportunity to travel football track on a travel team, different states, being exposed to different families, different people at different levels.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: I realized that there was more.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: And that when I began to train with uh Rabbi Mussur, I realized that the Jewish people had a had a wisdom that we didn't have.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: And I wanted to learn that wisdom.
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: And it was sacred success, was not simply having more money, it was just having the wisdom to understand why God placed us here and what he placed in us as resources, and that we as people really the treasure is in us, right?
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: You're a treasure.
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: We collaborate.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: I see the good in you, you see the good in me that impacts me and impacts you.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: And the two becomes better than one.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: And so it is the prosperity with purpose, it is the influence with integrity, and it is the wealth with wisdom.
- 17:43SPEAKER_00: That's sacred success.
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: It is that increase with responsibility that I have a responsibility to collaborate with a patty to help Patty get to the next level, and she also has a responsibility to help me and push me to get me to the next level.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: It is that giving and receiving that is receiving enough from God that you can become a river through which God's goodness reaches other people.
- 18:13SPEAKER_03: That was beautiful.
- 18:14SPEAKER_03: Thank you for that.
- 18:16SPEAKER_03: Would you what would you say to your younger self?
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: What I would say to my younger self would be to listen more than you speak, my brother.
- 18:31SPEAKER_03: What wisdom would you want your future self to keep?
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: I would keep the ever learning that I am a lifetime student and will continue to be a lifetime student.
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: The more I learn, the more I know, the dumber I get.
- 18:49SPEAKER_00: Because I realize I don't know nothing.
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: Did it keep you humble?
- 18:54SPEAKER_03: Ditto.
- 18:55SPEAKER_03: I repeat as a consultant with grief, and I'm doing a little sidebar here, but I just have to.
- 19:13SPEAKER_03: But like to me, the words in that verse are so profound because it says it right there.
- 19:18SPEAKER_03: And I don't know in what scripture it also like can paraphrase, but there's so much more to be known that will ever be known, and there's so much more to be seen that will ever be seen.
- 19:30SPEAKER_03: I don't and I don't know if you know where we could find that if you if you like to study the Bible.
- 19:35SPEAKER_03: Again, we're non-denominal here, but like to share the wealth of knowledge, right?
- 19:38SPEAKER_03: And there's a lot of knowledge in that book.
- 19:40SPEAKER_03: So I don't know if that if you could pull that from somewhere, but anyway, going back to your point, staying humble that we'll never know it all.
- 19:48SPEAKER_03: Is that fair?
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: There's one who knows it all.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: His name is Jehovah.
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: Jehovah knows it all.
- 19:55SPEAKER_00: The I am that I am.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: There's the truth.
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: Even scientists and doctors are still confounded and profounded by his wisdom.
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: They can't even understand it.
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: They don't even understand how whales are talking underneath the earth, so in a sea, so deep down that even divers, they've tried to get divers to go down deep diving, and they can only go so far, and then they got to come back up.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: Well, these whales are deep down, down there communicating, and sounds are moving.
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: It's an it's amazing what the Father God has been able to do.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: And the and the Bible itself is not a denomination for nobody, it's it's the book that gives us the instructions to live.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: It's been given to the Jewish people first, but guess what?
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: It's now open to everybody, and every other religion, what's amazing, takes portions from the Bible, and every other religion that's taken the portions have come after Judaism, if you will, or Israel or the Word of God.
- 20:56SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 20:56SPEAKER_03: Well, thank you for that information.
- 20:57SPEAKER_03: You see, to our point, I did not know that.
- 21:00SPEAKER_03: So so thank you.
- 21:01SPEAKER_03: I I knew about the part one, but I didn't realize like the other ones derived from.
- 21:08SPEAKER_03: So thank you for that information.
- 21:09SPEAKER_03: Again, I love learning and growing deeper into understanding.
- 21:13SPEAKER_03: What does legacy mean to you personally?
- 21:16SPEAKER_03: Loaded question here that there's no right or wrong.
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: Legacy is what I'm after, big time.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: I teach it, I preach it, I I tell everybody about it.
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: That first of all, let me preface it this way: find your purpose so you can live your life.
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: If you live your life, then you can leave a legacy.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: But life without purpose is like living life not at all.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: It's random, it's going anyway by every wind of doctrine.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: But in order to leave legacy, you must be intentional.
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: The word says that a good man leaves an inheritance to his children.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Children's, children's, children.
- 22:02SPEAKER_00: A lot of people take it practically, and you can do that as well.
- 22:06SPEAKER_00: They said they he's leaving money or he's leaving something for the children's children's children.
- 22:12SPEAKER_00: But really, what he really is wanting us to do is leave the word, the word of God to our children's children, children, so that they can have the ability to prosper, to overcome, to overcome crisis, to be loved, to show love, to be kind, to be generous, to be helpful, to be loving, to be long-suffering, right?
- 22:38SPEAKER_00: And that's that's the legacy that he really wants us to leave.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: And I want to leave that legacy to my children, and I tell them it's called the Shannon's Creed, to show love, to be kind, to be obedient, to represent the Shannons, but bring glory to God, no matter what you do.
- 22:58SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 22:59SPEAKER_03: I you're talking about future generations, and I'm glad you say, I'm glad you differentiated between you could take it practical, like literal, right?
- 23:08SPEAKER_03: But there's a lot of a lot of people didn't go down that lane, and that's fine for one reason or another, but still doesn't mean that they can't leave that word of of legacy imprint on others for future generations to come, like the light bulb, right?
- 23:23SPEAKER_03: Thank you, sir Edison, right?
- 23:26SPEAKER_03: Same same concept.
- 23:27SPEAKER_03: Thank you for diving a little deep into that.
- 23:29SPEAKER_03: What do you hope people remember most about the way you lived, worked, or served?
- 23:34SPEAKER_00: Well, I've often I often tell people, and I still stick to it, that I want to be known for the encourager, and that I've got people to question and get into the word of God.
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: I I want that, and I want to be known as the encourager.
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: He encouraged us.
- 23:58SPEAKER_03: I'll tell you this, you already are so you're good.
- 24:06SPEAKER_03: You're good.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: I'm already on that track, huh?
- 24:09SPEAKER_03: Totally, according to the world of Patty, anyway, and a few others that I know, not just Patty, actually.
- 24:15SPEAKER_03: I want to I want to just say that disclaimer.
- 24:18SPEAKER_03: If you could do it all over again, would you change anything, or did every part of the journey have a purpose?
- 24:24SPEAKER_00: There's no doubt about that.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: Every part of my journey had a purpose for sure.
- 24:30SPEAKER_00: As we're going to all experience, you're experiencing it now, I'm experiencing it, the United States is experiencing it.
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: It's called change, right?
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: Change, the world is changing, business is changing, leadership is changing, technology is changing, education is changing, communication is changing.
- 24:49SPEAKER_00: Listen, artificial intelligence is changing how we work, how we think, how we create, and even how we compete.
- 24:58SPEAKER_00: These robots are moving from science fiction into the workplace, into our homes, chat GPT, other artificial intelligence systems, they're changing how quickly people can research, write, analyze.
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: Things are moving so fast that change is already here.
- 25:17SPEAKER_00: And what's inevitable is change.
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: And the real question is are you changing fast enough to remain relevant, relevant, I guess, in the world that is emerging?
- 25:28SPEAKER_00: That's why I write the book, The Process of Change.
- 25:32SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 25:33SPEAKER_03: And we're gonna get a little bit more into that in a minute, everybody.
- 25:36SPEAKER_03: But we want to know what's something about your journey that most people would be surprised to learn.
- 25:41SPEAKER_03: This is our signature question.
- 25:42SPEAKER_03: It's again, is it playful?
- 25:44SPEAKER_03: Is it something serious?
- 25:46SPEAKER_03: Let us know.
- 25:47SPEAKER_00: Well, we've said it, we said it, we did say it that most people may not understand that my story, the way they hear me today, they said, Man, you're dynamic, you're a great speaker.
- 26:00SPEAKER_00: I just did the leadership experience tour, I'm the master MC there.
- 26:05SPEAKER_00: And we had 44 speakers that I had to bring on the stage.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: I had a co emcey this time, which was great.
- 26:13SPEAKER_00: Me and her, she we did it at the at the Wii conference, and Sean saw it and said, Hey, I think both of y'all are good, dynamic together.
- 26:21SPEAKER_00: So we brought it, and uh people say, Oh man, you're so good, you're so articular, you're so funny.
- 26:26SPEAKER_00: And I go, Man, that's true.
- 26:28SPEAKER_00: But what they don't understand is that I had to overcome and survive a speech impediment, right?
- 26:34SPEAKER_00: I had to survive this learning disorder, I had to survive being kicked out of 10 schools.
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: I've had struggling to fit in socially, and and I was a child carrying all these burdens, right?
- 26:48SPEAKER_00: However, look today, I can articulate, I can enunciate, I'm a writer, I'm a preacher, teacher, I'm an apostolic teacher, I'm a prophet, I've been certified, I'm a I work with the sheriff, police.
- 27:05SPEAKER_00: Just amazing of what God is able to do.
- 27:09SPEAKER_03: And I've I've seen the stuff you've been doing in the past five years, actually, going on six years that I've been following you, and we've got to do some work together, if you will.
- 27:20SPEAKER_03: I tell you this, it's amazing what you have done.
- 27:23SPEAKER_03: And thank you for inviting me to be part of some of those beautiful things.

- 30:30SPEAKER_00: Change, listen to me, is interrupts patterns because there is no breakthrough to you have a breakdown.
- 30:39SPEAKER_00: Change will challenge your assumptions, change exposes outdated thinking, and we have some outdated thinking.
- 30:47SPEAKER_00: Are you aware that 1776 is when all of these different rules, regulations, and changes took place because of slavery and because of all of the different challenges that was taking place?
- 30:58SPEAKER_00: All of these policies need to be challenged.
- 31:02SPEAKER_00: Change forces us to ask difficult questions, right?
- 31:06SPEAKER_00: What worked yesterday?
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: What is no longer working today?
- 31:09SPEAKER_00: What am I defending simply because I'm familiar with it?
- 31:13SPEAKER_00: And what have I become emotionally attached to that has reached an expiration date?

- 31:48SPEAKER_00: I close with this, and that is that Steve Ballmer, who was the president of Nokia, Nokia had 90% of the market share with the phones.
- 31:58SPEAKER_00: They had just came out with the flip phone, people were amazing.
- 32:01SPEAKER_00: They came out with the open flip phone and they were doing wonderful.
- 32:04SPEAKER_00: But then all of a sudden, Apple was coming out.
- 32:08SPEAKER_00: Blackberry had come out, but Blackberry didn't threaten them.
- 32:11SPEAKER_00: But Apple saw what Blackberry was doing and said, if we could take the typing screen and make it invisible, man, let's do it.
- 32:18SPEAKER_00: They did it.
- 32:19SPEAKER_00: Well, Nokia still didn't move.
- 32:21SPEAKER_00: Then iPhone came out, Apple came out with the invisible touch screen.
- 32:26SPEAKER_00: That did it.
- 32:27SPEAKER_00: People jumped, ship, and Apple became number one.
- 32:31SPEAKER_00: In three years' time, Nokia had to close shop.
- 32:34SPEAKER_00: And I'll never forget Steve Bomber said to his people.
- 32:38SPEAKER_00: They asked, What did we do wrong?
- 32:40SPEAKER_00: He said, Nothing.
- 32:41SPEAKER_00: The world moved faster than we moved.
- 32:44SPEAKER_00: We should have moved now.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: I'll never forget it.
