- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Three O Take where we talk
- 0:04all things Major League Baseball.
- 0:06Here's Kyle Corwin and Nate Reyes.
- 0:10It all starts right now. Welcome back to the Three O Take
- 0:19presented by Chinook Cederys Episode 6 O 8.
- 0:24I'll be your host, Kyle Corn. I'm here with my Co host Nate
- 0:26Reyes. Nate.
- 0:29KCJB how are we? It's been a while.
- 0:34Yeah. Too long, we're back.
- 0:39We're back. We're talking ball pet peeve
- 0:45right off the top here real quick.
- 0:47Love it. When the score bug the broadcast
- 0:52has features two teams that share share a color in both of
- 1:02their respective schemes, but the broadcast chooses to go with
- 1:06that color for both teams. Like just go with the secondary
- 1:10color for that team. You know, like, is it that hard?
- 1:14Are we Which? Are we talking Washington?
- 1:16Cincinnati. Yeah, no, that, well, that was
- 1:20an example of of, of a team doing or a broadcast doing it
- 1:23the right way. They gave the Nationals the Navy
- 1:25blue, obviously gave the Reds the red.
- 1:27But it made me think of teams as in fact, the Red Sox do that
- 1:31where they just put, they'll throw out both Reds under shame.
- 1:33They they don't care. They like deal with it.
- 1:35A lot of red on tonight's broadcast.
- 1:38Hope you like red. If you don't, screw you.
- 1:43Yeah. Just a pet peeve.
- 1:44If I could. It's a, it's a, it's an
- 1:46aesthetic thing. It's a.
- 1:47Small little bugaboo. It's just a a really easily
- 1:51avoidable thing, you know? Are you?
- 1:55Are you? I personally like the logo more
- 1:58than the three letter abbreviation.
- 2:04Yeah. Yeah, they just slapped the logo
- 2:06on there. Yeah, like Padres, Brewers.
- 2:08Right now we got Reds, Reds, Nats, which I guess is, I don't
- 2:13know, it's it looked like the same bug.
- 2:15But yeah, like the logo's a nice touch.
- 2:18Yeah, that's Mets. Mets.
- 2:19Tigers. Yeah, the Blue Jay Rays 1 I
- 2:25don't like, but it's the Blue Jays, so you know, there you go.
- 2:33Pirates do the pirates do the three letters on theirs.
- 2:40I know because like we, we were just looking at it last night
- 2:44when the game started and it says like Col. that has a zero.
- 2:48And then So what it looks like is Colopito.
- 2:51And so like when we're playing, when we're playing Milwaukee, it
- 2:55says Milo, which is our son's name.
- 2:57So it's kind of. Sounds like a sounds like an
- 2:59alcoholic beverage. Kolopito Yeah, it does.
- 3:04Tell me that wouldn't just be flying off the shelves.
- 3:07Oh man, they can start. Just imagine we were watching
- 3:11that commercial every commercial break on MLB Network.
- 3:14Dude, I'm so MLBTV. Oh, that tweet you put out,
- 3:18dude, that Google One. I hate that commercial man.
- 3:24And it sucks because it's like if you know that when it does
- 3:29happen in the game, that's the only commercial you're getting
- 3:32for the rest of the game. I don't know why.
- 3:35Like you'll get two or three innings of like random stuff and
- 3:38then it's just the rest of the game of that Google sound.
- 3:41It's not even that for me. It's the fact that and somebody,
- 3:44somebody pointed it out. They said, you know, when you're
- 3:47getting that commercial that you're getting double time,
- 3:49you're, you're, they're running it back and I'm just like.
- 3:52More than I mean, they're. The guy, the sound effect guy, I
- 3:57think just discovered what a wood bat sounds like like
- 4:00yesterday. And guy just can't get enough of
- 4:03it. He's like, oh, wooden bat drop,
- 4:04wooden bat drop. Yeah, it's terrible.
- 4:07But anyway, we're we're generally positive people,
- 4:11General Lee, General Lee, positive people.
- 4:15Let's talk, let's talk Rafael Devers right off the top here.
- 4:20Giants reportedly, according to Bob Nightingale of USA TODAY.
- 4:26What are we doing? Force it?
- 4:29No, I kind of believe it, honestly.
- 4:30Like you, you got to pick and choose your battles with Bob.
- 4:33I kind of believe that the Giants are having buyer's
- 4:37remorse with the Rafael Devers situation, which makes sense and
- 4:44doesn't make sense. At the same time, I feel like
- 4:46you just got to know that with this guy's track record with his
- 4:49career that you'd know he's eventually going to heat up and
- 4:51he he has started to heat up if you look at his numbers.
- 4:53I trade him for him in fantasy just at the right time.
- 4:56But at the same time, I do understand maybe rushing into
- 5:03that decision thinking like, oh, we can get a star player, but
- 5:06maybe failing to really take into account we'd and I'd I
- 5:10brought up this point when the trade happened, is that his game
- 5:14doesn't play in San Francisco. I mean, nobody's game really
- 5:18plays in San Francisco, but particularly his.
- 5:21And you're seeing the lack of, you know, explosiveness at the
- 5:25plate because of that, because he can't, he can't lean into the
- 5:29monster like he usually does. He can't, he can't play to to
- 5:33his his sides of the field that he likes to, you know, play on.
- 5:37So I, I don't know what, what do we think about this?
- 5:40Do we think it, do we think that this is just a, a blip on the
- 5:44radar? Do we think that this could turn
- 5:46into something more? I don't.
- 5:49I wouldn't hit the reset button with him.
- 5:52You have other. Value, that's fair.
- 5:54There's there are a lot of big money contracts on that.
- 5:56Yeah, like there's other pieces that you can, you can move and
- 5:59shed and shed some salary and, and, and at least give this a
- 6:06little bit of a longer sample size.
- 6:08It just, it hasn't been long enough.
- 6:10I mean, you're, you're not wrong.
- 6:12Like we knew that the second that trade went down, it was
- 6:15like you got to expect those offensive numbers to go down,
- 6:19especially when he started really tapping into, like you
- 6:22said, going the other way up, you know, off the wall.
- 6:25Can't do that. San Francisco's massive so and,
- 6:29and you're going to spend, you know, half your season in kind
- 6:32of miserable weather anyway, right?
- 6:35So I, I, I would probably let it ride a little bit longer.
- 6:43You know, I'd be quicker to move on from Matt Chapman.
- 6:48I think Willy Adamus still holds a lot of value.
- 6:54Even, you know, it's, it may be like a sell low situation, but I
- 6:59think some of those names I would move on 1st.
- 7:02I mean, you saw a move that I know it's not like a super
- 7:05noteworthy move, but they moved on from Patrick Bailey.
- 7:08And like, you know, you maybe there's this, maybe there's this
- 7:15notion that they can find a way to adjust mid season without
- 7:20blowing it up entirely. And I feel like Devers moving
- 7:23would be a massive blow up. Matt Chapman, four more years on
- 7:29his deal, 25,000,000 apiece after this, after this year,
- 7:34Willie Adamus, 5 more years at 31.
- 7:38Devers seven more years at 33 and then eventually flips to 31.
- 7:45I, I don't know what you think you're going to get for him.
- 7:48You, you're just, it's a salary dump.
- 7:51And I, I just don't know that. I don't know that any of those
- 7:56guys are really washed. I mean, Adamus just last year
- 8:02hit 30 homers in San Francisco. First one to do it since bonds,
- 8:07yeah. 3.7 war and and Chapman last year 21 but it's still, I
- 8:16mean the defense. So 4.1 as far as baseball
- 8:19reference war goes. I mean like, they're still good
- 8:24players. They're not Chapman's 33 right
- 8:27now, but Devers and Adamus are 29 and 30.
- 8:30It's not like they're old. I mean, they still got years
- 8:33left in them. I, I don't know, I maybe
- 8:38Chapman, because of the defense probably and has the shortest
- 8:41amount of money and the smallest amount of money owed that maybe
- 8:45he's the only guy that you could legitimately trade and have it
- 8:49actually get you anything in return at all.
- 8:53I mean, I'm not saying I would do this.
- 8:55I'm not even saying it's a good idea, but in is there any world
- 9:01that they do move on from Chapman and they slide Devers
- 9:04back to 3rd? I know it's obviously a
- 9:09downgrade defensively, but like, is there any world where that
- 9:13happens? Say move on from and why not?
- 9:17I mean. Yeah, like it, this is a
- 9:22conversation we had when he was still a Red Sox.
- 9:24Like, you know, the the full time DH thing isn't for
- 9:27everybody. You can't, you know, there's a
- 9:29lot of people mentally that can't just sit in the dugout,
- 9:32you know, and and take so much time off to tap back in for ABS.
- 9:38He has looked good at first, but I think it's it's been it's been
- 9:43pretty decent. But like, I don't know, I mean,
- 9:50that team's just like it's very underperforming.
- 9:53Robbie Ray. What does that contract look
- 9:55like? When you're talking, when you're
- 9:58talking downgrade, I mean we it was well documented when that
- 10:02trade went down. Statistically, I want to say the
- 10:05worst from the time of his call up to the time of the trade.
- 10:09Statistically the worst defensive third baseman in
- 10:12baseball. Yeah, but you also have Ron
- 10:18Washington there who has seemingly completely turned
- 10:22Louis Arise around defensively completely.
- 10:26This is it for Robbie Ray. Like Louis Arise is now I
- 10:31correct me if I'm wrong, I don't I maybe it's too short of a
- 10:33season to know, but like, he's looked really good that second
- 10:40and that's all wash. Yeah, did I?
- 10:41Did I see him on some like outs above average leaderboards
- 10:45recently where I'm like what is he doing?
- 10:47There it's Ron Washington, man, like that's that's. 4 defensive
- 10:51runs saved already. Yeah.
- 10:53Or maybe that's what I was thinking.
- 10:54Like so if you're saying I I just, I don't see the point of
- 11:01him being the first one to move if you want to adjust things.
- 11:05Devers -3 by the way. Love that I think the wash
- 11:11effect gets him to the league average.
- 11:13I think it gets, you know, yeah, Willy, Willy, you could you
- 11:20could probably get some pieces for for sure.
- 11:22I don't know if it's it'd be time to move on from that, but.
- 11:26Not with that money though. That's the whole thing.
- 11:29Like you're going to have to eat money.
- 11:31And I think if that's what you're trying to do, yeah, or
- 11:33you're not getting anything. So it really depends on where
- 11:36you're sitting. If this is a money move, then
- 11:39you're just not getting anything.
- 11:40You're going to have to figure out something else.
- 11:42But if it's not a money move and you're just trying to stockpile
- 11:47like young players or or something trying to re rebrand,
- 11:51whatever you're trying to do it, it's you're going to have to eat
- 11:55a lot of that money in order to to to get something in return.
- 11:59How do we feel about how do we feel about Devers in Atlanta?
- 12:09They're scoring more runs than anybody else.
- 12:11What are they? Why?
- 12:12Why would they? Why would they take on that
- 12:15money for somebody who's not performing right now?
- 12:19Well, the assumption is that they wouldn't be taking on the
- 12:24entirety of the money. See, I Atlanta came to mind for
- 12:32me, more so towards Willie. I that was my, that was my
- 12:39landing spot for him when when he was on the trade market.
- 12:43Yeah, what? Two years.
- 12:44Ago. Feel like that would probably
- 12:46make a little bit more sense. Yeah, that's a good call.
- 12:48Send Kim back in that deal. Why?
- 12:53Why do we not like Devers to the Braves though?
- 12:57I'm not saying I dislike it. I.
- 13:00The Braves were kind of leery of, of go and any further in
- 13:04like on in the offseason, spending any more money.
- 13:07They were kind of saying what I think this is where we are.
- 13:10And so I, I don't see them taking on that much money.
- 13:14They're going to have to take on a significant amount of even
- 13:17even if it's half the contract, that's a lot of money.
- 13:20That's, that's, you know, 15,000,000 for the next seven
- 13:23years. No, I get it.
- 13:24I'm just, I'm looking at it from the point of view of like this
- 13:27is the this would be their chance to get a major run
- 13:30producer, major run producer, major run producer.
- 13:34That's it. I haven't dropped a major on
- 13:36here. That's a good one.
- 13:38Major run producer at a discount in a year where they're taking
- 13:45the league by storm. Like, why not?
- 13:47Why not, you know, step on the rest of the league's throat, you
- 13:51know? I think if, I think if it's, if
- 13:53they're going to do that, though, don't you think they
- 13:55would try to do, they would try to go after somebody with lower,
- 14:01with a, a shorter term, you know what I mean?
- 14:05I, I would think just because of the money, like yes, to push
- 14:09this year, but I, I could get a guy who's a free agent at the
- 14:12end of the year and, and possibly make that run and then,
- 14:18you know, they've can figure that the rest of that out later,
- 14:21but. I also threw the I threw the
- 14:23Padres out as an option. I don't hate that either.
- 14:30Get back with his guy. Bogey, Big Brother Bogey.
- 14:37Actually, I like that fit way more than Atlanta.
- 14:41I'm not. Going to lie, Andy Harr right
- 14:44now is listed as their DH but that's against righties.
- 14:48Yeah, we're talking about a team that is not afraid to bring on
- 14:51money. Yeah, right.
- 14:53Also valid. Oh, Gavin Sheets playing first
- 14:55base form Thai France probably a little bit.
- 14:57So, yeah, I mean you certainly have a spot.
- 15:03How do you feel about, how do you feel about trading within
- 15:05the division in that in that sense?
- 15:07That's a team by team approach. I feel like certain teams are OK
- 15:11with it, other teams absolutely not.
- 15:13I I'm drawing a major blank. Major blank.
- 15:16Major Blank, who's 2:00 and 1:00?
- 15:21Yeah, that's crazy. Who's that happens?
- 15:25I get fixated on a word and then I just, you know, I just start
- 15:27lumping in and without we've noticed, we've noticed
- 15:29situations that don't even make sense.
- 15:33Who's playing third in San Diego right now?
- 15:36It's a stupid question, I know, but I'm.
- 15:37I'm Manny Ranchata. You said Gavin cheats and I was
- 15:43like, yeah, well, you wouldn't move him, but maybe you could
- 15:46slide a minute 3rd. I'm like, no, they got a, they
- 15:48got a cornerstone. Guy over there the all time
- 15:51franchise leader in home runs. I'm going to need you to clip
- 15:54that just so I can see all the comments of make make podcast
- 15:59equipment more expensive. What did I say?
- 16:04What did I say before I said? It's a stupid question.
- 16:07Hey look man, I've I've been my brains been going in 1000
- 16:11places. At once.
- 16:15Whereas Michael Scott says my brains going a mile an hour.
- 16:18So, you know, sorry, I, I was just, I was thinking devours.
- 16:25I wasn't thinking franchise cornerstones.
- 16:28That's why I said just a stupid question.
- 16:30Anyway, we love Manny Machado on this show.
- 16:38OK, moving on, Tempeh Rays, we just talked about the Braves
- 16:45A-Team that's on a heater right now has been on one.
- 16:50Rays also on a heater. Gavin Sheets tater, by the way,
- 16:55as we were just talking. Right as we were talking about
- 16:57him. Yeah, three run shot in the top
- 16:59of the ninth. Take the lead Tampa Bay Rays
- 17:05Rabbit Tay Bays. Throwback only the real ones
- 17:09now. Yeah.
- 17:13Is this? Is this for real?
- 17:20Kind of seems like it, don't it? This is what they do, man.
- 17:26No, but this is different though I it was what was it for their
- 17:35for this 40 they. Just got walked off by a
- 17:38Dartinville dart. Dart Show.
- 17:41Grand Slam. That's a great.
- 17:43Yeah, walk off, Granny. Wow.
- 17:53That's probably what it sounds like in Rogers Center right now.
- 17:55Oh yeah, it. Does that's tough?
- 18:01Yeah, dude, I, I mean, this is just, this is what they do.
- 18:05No, but what I was going to say is I that's where I maybe
- 18:07disagree because I've got a note here. 3rd best 40 game start in
- 18:17franchise history. They started the year 27 and 13.
- 18:30So now you're saying this isn't what they do.
- 18:32What are you saying? Yeah, yeah.
- 18:35You're saying it's much better than what they do?
- 18:38Well, according to franchise history, yeah.
- 18:42I mean, I, I don't know. I don't me personally, I don't
- 18:48get super wrapped up in these, these ridiculous stretches.
- 18:54I think it happens just because it's baseball.
- 18:58Like, you know, the stretch that the Cubs just went through this,
- 19:02this start that the Braves are going through at the moment.
- 19:05Like I think things will even out a little bit as it pertains
- 19:14to the Rays. But they're always going to be a
- 19:18pain. They're always going to be in
- 19:20the mix. This is just what they are.
- 19:21This is what they do. Rhonda is legit.
- 19:26Yandi's been Yandi shout out what's his face?
- 19:34Chandler Simpson for like changing his game.
- 19:38You know what I mean? Like really, how rare is it?
- 19:42You know, we we saw it like David Hamilton back in the day
- 19:45where it was like, OK, you have elite of elite speed.
- 19:49You just can't seem to have the right approach at the plate.
- 19:52Not Chandler Simpson completely changed everything and has fully
- 19:59turned into what he needs to be to be productive.
- 20:04Pretty sure he's like top three in the league and and hits the
- 20:08guys just doing exactly what he needs to do.
- 20:10So I it's this is par for the course man.
- 20:14They they develop well, they they get guys to buy in and they
- 20:20come up short at the end of the year.
- 20:24It's always, it's always a where did they get this guy situation.
- 20:29The guy that comes to mind, Brian Baker, who has now taken
- 20:32over the closer role for them with Griffin.
- 20:34Griffin Jax is now a starter. Right.
- 20:38Well, an opener, right? Well, they're stretching him out
- 20:41to start, yeah. He went five innings tonight.
- 20:44Yeah, I did not see that. I thought they were just they
- 20:47were slotting him in as an opener.
- 20:49Which is all the Rays starters go, Yeah.
- 20:52Yeah, I know. But like, Mcclanahan looks like
- 20:55he's back. You know, like the they, they
- 20:58just, they know stuff that no one else knows and they're just
- 21:03pesky. The Rays get the best out of
- 21:06guys in whatever situation they put him in.
- 21:12Yeah, Nick Martinez has been fantastic.
- 21:18Yeah. So the Rays have only lost five
- 21:20series. There you go.
- 21:23Well done. Thank you.
- 21:24Proud of you. Coincidentally, the five they've
- 21:29played against the NL Central, Everyone else they've beat until
- 21:35this loss. Tonight against Toronto they
- 21:36were five and O against Toronto, 3 and O against the Yankees, two
- 21:40and one against Boston. And they haven't played
- 21:45Baltimore yet. So like they're taking care of
- 21:48their Division 2. Yeah, they have the 4th
- 21:54strongest schedule according to ESPN, so.
- 22:02Bobby. Yeah, they are 9 and one in one
- 22:08run games. That's what I'm saying is that I
- 22:12think things will start to bounce out eventually.
- 22:14This is obviously a really good start, a really good stretch.
- 22:17I I'm not ready to throw in the towel for teams that have
- 22:21started out rough, and I'm not ready to award trophies to teams
- 22:27that have started off hot. No, but but the the the factor
- 22:32here is the league in which they play in.
- 22:34And I know we've talked about this multiple times.
- 22:36That's super. Valid point.
- 22:38Nothing. I mean somebody fact checked me.
- 22:41I haven't looked at the overall league standing trend over the
- 22:45last week, but I would venture to say not much has changed with
- 22:48the overall direction of the American League.
- 22:52So if this is just kind of what the American League is going to
- 22:56be this year, I don't, I think maybe you, you do have to put a
- 23:03little more stock into a team that that has a run or, or
- 23:07multiple runs, as we've seen with a team like the Cubs, who
- 23:09obviously nationally, but as an example, like it may not, it may
- 23:15not take as much as you would traditionally need to to get the
- 23:19job done in the AL this year. So I don't know, just keep an
- 23:22eye on the Rays. That's that's all I'll say.
- 23:25Yeah, the Rays and the Yankees right now are essentially looks
- 23:30like the Rays have that division.
- 23:31The the Yankees are right there and even the Yankees are 5 1/2
- 23:35games up in that first wild card spot.
- 23:37So the Rays are obviously more than that.
- 23:40It's, I mean, the number two wild card team is under 500 and
- 23:45that's the Mariners. Look.
- 23:48Literally anything can happen. I mean, you're looking at the
- 23:51very bottom team, the the LA Angels are only 5 1/2 out.
- 23:56The Angels have a chance of making the postseason still.
- 24:00I mean, we're not looking at their roster, but just based on
- 24:02games, you can still, you can still cover that.
- 24:05They're also, like the you said, they are the worst team in the
- 24:09American League. Yeah, yeah.
- 24:11Which unless. Unless the Astros are losing,
- 24:15then they'll be right with them. Kudos to me for that pick for
- 24:19our worst teams draft at the beginning of the season.
- 24:22Did you get them? Yeah, I got them.
- 24:25I got them in the Nationals. Looking good, man.
- 24:31Kind of. That's need to stop being so
- 24:33scrappy. But yeah, looking good.
- 24:36You mentioned the Mariners. Let's talk.
- 24:38Let's talk Mariners, specifically Cal Raleigh
- 24:41specifically snapping the O for 38 skid, specifically due in
- 24:49part to the full uni shower. Mm hmm.
- 24:55I'll be the first, I'll be the first to say, OK, I'll be the
- 24:57second to say that I love that. Jamie, you should have heard
- 25:04what this guy said in the change up episode.
- 25:07Don't. Say it, don't say it.
- 25:09Worst one yet? Yeah, it was.
- 25:11It was not a good one. Way worse than that.
- 25:15Worse than what? That wasn't even an innuendo.
- 25:19Well, just the fact that you love a guy in the shower.
- 25:23Oh, but I. He said it first, if you'd
- 25:26listen. I did say that first.
- 25:29That was the whole the whole reason we just had that.
- 25:32I cut him off. I was trying to say something
- 25:34underneath. I didn't realize he was going to
- 25:36come in with the same thing. That's my bad.
- 25:39But yeah, I do love that. That's that's the kind of
- 25:41baseball stuff I love. Yeah.
- 25:43Superstition stuff. And you know I love it.
- 25:47Try something out. There is, there is.
- 25:49Something mentally freeing about like, you know, what is it?
- 25:54Is it stupid that I'm getting in the shower with my full uniform
- 25:57on? Absolutely.
- 25:59But like mentally it's crazy, dude.
- 26:03Like when you're, when you're struggling that bad in this
- 26:06game, if you can just even just like psych yourself into
- 26:13thinking like, OK, the outcome of tonight's game is on the
- 26:17shower in the clubhouse. Like, it's up to the shower to
- 26:21fix, fix my performance at the plate.
- 26:24And it's like at that point you, you know, muscle memory kicks in
- 26:28and you don't, you're not in your head as much.
- 26:30You're just like, hey, it's on the shower now.
- 26:33And the shower came through. So honestly, yeah, like Nate
- 26:38said, let's get weird. And it it works out sometimes.
- 26:41You have to find something to blame it on, right?
- 26:43What what Yogi say? I never blame myself when I'm in
- 26:45a slump. I blame I blame my bat.
- 26:47And if it keeps it up, I'll switch bats right.
- 26:50And so it's the same thing like you have to do something mental.
- 26:53I washed all that out. I wonder how many requests the
- 26:56the the club he's get like saying I want a whole new
- 26:59uniform. Get this one out.
- 27:00Give me a brand new. Yeah, respect.
- 27:05It has to get weird in those clubhouses, man, 162 games, like
- 27:10there's stuff that you we would never even hear about that you
- 27:14just have to assume is is going on like you guys are trying all
- 27:17sorts of weird things. It's it's.
- 27:22What you got to do sometimes? It's a it's a crazy sport, but.
- 27:25It was a long stretch though over 38 is a long time.
- 27:29What was What was Chris Davis's again?
- 27:32Oh, for like 5056. 54 sounds right.
- 27:38I don't remember. It's one of those two.
- 27:42I think 56 or 54. Yeah, shout out, Jake. 62.
- 27:53What? Whoa, shout out Jake for calling
- 27:57this in our in our fantasy draft this year.
- 28:00He was like, I think he has a down year this year.
- 28:03I I'm not high on him. Don't know why I can't explain
- 28:06it, but it's going to happen. I mean this like the fall off to
- 28:10this level, I don't think many people could have seen coming,
- 28:13but the the regression was the could not have been more
- 28:17obvious. There's no way he comes back
- 28:20after last year and puts up even 90% of that.
- 28:23There's there was no way. I'm going to I'm going to say
- 28:27something that is going to sound like an annoying Yankee fan, and
- 28:32I understand, OK? There are parts of me that are
- 28:43glad that he didn't beat the AL Home run record because of the
- 28:50fact that it's like, we don't know if he's going to end up
- 28:55being a legendary name, you know?
- 28:59Yeah, that's a. That's a like I I like, I don't
- 29:02love the idea of something of that level of a stat and
- 29:07milestone and record being held by someone who.
- 29:12It's. Like maybe kind of a dud at the
- 29:14end, you know? It's like if Marco Scudero ended
- 29:19up beating out Joe D's hit streak.
- 29:22Yeah, It's like, come on. No disrespect to Marcos
- 29:26Coutereau, but like, come on. You know, like, it's, it's.
- 29:29Yeah, no, I get it. I mean, it's like it is it's
- 29:32baseball. So like obviously like it's it's
- 29:35going to happen at some point. I'm sure it's probably going to
- 29:38be weird. We don't know how legendary the
- 29:40name is going to be, but like, I, I don't know.
- 29:43I, I like the fact that it like all the ties of like the Judge
- 29:47and Maris thing. And I, I just, to me, I think
- 29:51that part is really cool. I'd like to see that ride a
- 29:53little bit longer. And I, I, I personally was happy
- 29:59that he didn't break the record for the AL last year.
- 30:04Felt pretty Brady Anderson of him.
- 30:07Sure. What did Brady do?
- 30:0950 homers in one year. He only got to 20 in one other
- 30:13season. Yeah, but I don't know, maybe
- 30:16it's just because I grew up going to those Orioles games.
- 30:19I just feel like Brady Anderson was more of a household name,
- 30:21but maybe not. I don't take that back.
- 30:23I just pulled it up. He had 21 one year and 24
- 30:26another year. More of a household name than
- 30:28Cal Raleigh. Well, he was a good player, he
- 30:32just wasn't. A50 Homer guy.
- 30:34Sorry, I was, I was looking, I was talking about it through the
- 30:37lens of like, yeah, like comparing it to like a Marcos
- 30:40Kudrow. It's.
- 30:41Like, Oh yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, Brady Anderson, look
- 30:44at this like. I, I just, I just meant the, the
- 30:47one year of power, like, you know, Cal Raleigh hit what, 2731
- 30:52and 32 in the three years before that, 2730 and 34 in the three
- 31:02years before that. He still has that for the
- 31:06season. You know what I'm saying?
- 31:07Like. He's even just he's.
- 31:08Going to go back to what Cal Raleigh probably is, which is
- 31:12still a really good player. I mean, just 60 is just a huge
- 31:18number and. Yeah.
- 31:20Going back to your point though, sort sort of on a related note,
- 31:23I, I and I, I was only thinking about this because I saw his
- 31:26name the other day. But it makes it makes me think
- 31:28of when you, when you see the list of guys who have thrown
- 31:31like no hitters in perfect games, you're like, yeah.
- 31:34Who? Yeah, here I'll do, I'll do a an
- 31:37anti Yankee thing like Domingo Herman.
- 31:39Having a perfect game to me feels super dirty and
- 31:43ridiculous. I don't.
- 31:44Like it, no disrespects and I apologize if maybe I'm just not
- 31:49familiar with his game, but like Phillip Humber throwing a
- 31:52perfect game in 2012? What?
- 31:57Old Phil Humber, Yeah. You know, and then that and
- 32:01that's a perfect game, but like you go, you look back at like
- 32:03some of the no hitters and you're just like Bud Smith.
- 32:07Yeah, that's, I mean, that's all Like it's going.
- 32:10I think I get what you're saying, but it's the same.
- 32:13I like I think this is even bigger.
- 32:15You know what I mean? This is like the AL home run
- 32:17record to me for sure for lasting so long and like, I
- 32:21don't know, I just I I would hate to see a record go and be
- 32:25held by a flash in the pan season.
- 32:29You know, I think what's that's what's cool about some of these
- 32:31and I think baseball kind of works its itself out in that
- 32:34way. Homer Bailey having the.
- 32:40The the only difference I would call out on that is that, yeah,
- 32:44the what's that? Who?
- 32:46Homer, I said. Shout out to Homer Bailey for
- 32:48having back-to-back no hitters. He threw one in 2012.
- 32:51There wasn't one until he threw another one in 2013.
- 32:54Right. Yep.
- 32:55I was going to bring him up too. And, and, and so it's part of my
- 32:58point there is the difference between the two is what Cal
- 33:01really did. He did for an entire season, but
- 33:04anyone, any specifically any pitcher, any pitcher that makes
- 33:08it to the, to the major leagues, he has that in the tank.
- 33:12Every single one of them. You know what I'm saying?
- 33:14And so like when you, when you think of like a, even a perfect
- 33:17game, I mean, 'cause I don't care who you are, like, I don't
- 33:21care if you're Nolan Ryan, you're going to rely a little
- 33:23bit on luck to do that too. Yeah.
- 33:25For sure. So I, I think that's different.
- 33:27What what's that? What?
- 33:33Yeah. So anyway, it's to me that's a
- 33:37little different because he did that for a full season.
- 33:40Yeah, yeah, I get it. Trying to find.
- 33:51Career average of 222. Like he can get back to that.
- 33:55Yeah, on the picture thing, it, it reminds me when we talked to,
- 33:59talked to our guy Dallas Braden on here and I remember asking
- 34:03him like, are you like, how do you feel?
- 34:05Like, are you OK with having sort of your career defined by
- 34:09like 1 good day at the park? And he was like, how could I
- 34:12not? I mean, I don't remember exactly
- 34:13what he said verbatim, but it was basically just like, how
- 34:16could I not be OK with that? Like, yeah, that's baseball.
- 34:20Like you, you know, you just go out there, you have a great day
- 34:23and things just work in your favor.
- 34:25And that's that's kind of the kind of the same thing.
- 34:27But yeah, it's like you're like we've been sort of dancing
- 34:30around. It's it's a it's a funny sport,
- 34:34man. And and you will over the course
- 34:36of 162 games a year, year after year after year, you're going to
- 34:40have just names pop up. And I'm not saying Cal Raleigh's
- 34:43some No Name, but you, you're just going to have, you know,
- 34:46different guys holding different records and sometimes they get
- 34:49close, sometimes they don't. I think even on the opposite of
- 34:52that, sometimes I, I sometimes I would root for him to get the
- 34:57MVP, knowing he may never get that chance again.
- 35:01Sure. So I kind of want that, you know
- 35:03what I mean? For him and it's like.
- 35:05You know. Oh, it's him or Judge.
- 35:06Well, Judge has a few. Let's.
- 35:08Yeah, get that argument. Ultimately, Judge had the
- 35:11numbers he had and and I don't think that he right it
- 35:15wrongfully. Got it.
- 35:16I'm just saying sometimes it's like, oh, let's get another name
- 35:19in there who probably won't repeat this.
- 35:23Sounds like. Sounds like JB is just saying he
- 35:26hates Aaron Judge. Honestly.
- 35:31Another name. Maybe a little concern
- 35:34surrounding Fernando Tati's junior.
- 35:37It is May 13th, 10:24 PM Eastern Time, Eastern Standard Time, and
- 35:48he has yet to hit a Homer. Are we?
- 35:52Are we worried? No, no, I don't think so.
- 36:02I'm the hard hit rate still there.
- 36:08Isn't it like he's still barreling balls?
- 36:11Yeah, yeah, yeah, he he's fine and red for sure.
- 36:14And he's he's still getting on base.
- 36:17But I mean it like, I get I get the on base argument because I
- 36:24know what I know that's probably where JB is going to go with it.
- 36:26And I know that that's about there's value there.
- 36:29But that argument more so applies to a guy like Luis
- 36:34Arise. Like, OK, yeah, great.
- 36:36He's getting on base. That's what he's supposed to do.
- 36:37We're talking about Fernando Tatis Junior.
- 36:40There's a guy that's supposed to have pop who has shown that he's
- 36:42had pop and has gotten popped. If you will.
- 36:48But it's like I said, I mean, it's the middle of May and you
- 36:54know, but people were people were.
- 36:57I was going back and forth to people on the whole Jazz
- 36:59Chisholm quote about the 5050 year, and he got one, I think.
- 37:03What was it like at the end of April?
- 37:06And people are like, see, see, he's fine.
- 37:08I'm like a whole month is gone by.
- 37:12A month plus has gone by. So it's like, even if even if
- 37:15Tatis had like a multi Homer game tonight or, or tomorrow or
- 37:19whatever the next game is, it's like, OK, he's heating up.
- 37:23But when you look back on it at the end of the year, like what
- 37:26are those numbers going to look like?
- 37:27And I just don't know that it's it's this is going to be one of
- 37:30his better years. And and maybe he just goes on an
- 37:32absolute tear. That's that's certainly within
- 37:36the realm of possibility. But if we start getting closer
- 37:41to the end of May, talking 2 plus months without a Homer.
- 37:46I mean, I will say it's a tough look when you take the league by
- 37:51storm with 969 OPS, 937 OPS, 975 OPS with 42 home runs and then
- 38:05you get popped. Yep.
- 38:07And then your OPS doesn't sniff the nines again.
- 38:11Listen, I. 3 1/2 years. I don't know what side of the
- 38:15fence you're on, but it has to be part of the conversation.
- 38:19Yeah. Like your your home run
- 38:22percentage 5.96.67.7 and then afterwards 394836 and obviously
- 38:31zero this year but. But can we revisit that?
- 38:34What was what was that proven to be, though?
- 38:37Wasn't it just like a? Wasn't it just like because it?
- 38:40Was a ringworm cream or something?
- 38:42Yeah. Like, how so?
- 38:44Can we really attribute to that? Like, yeah, well, is it funny?
- 38:47Like, are are Dodgers fans, for example, just having a field day
- 38:50with the fact he got busted? Sure.
- 38:52But like this, we're not talking traditional PEDs here, correct?
- 38:58We don't know. Yeah, that's.
- 38:59The thing is, you don't know. You don't know what what you
- 39:02flagged, what doesn't like what shows up on the you know, the
- 39:05blip on the radar and what doesn't.
- 39:07Right. You don't know what else was
- 39:08alongside that is what some of the arguments can be is that if
- 39:13you have something that could be this strong and you could mask
- 39:16something that you're really doing with this.
- 39:19I mean, I'm not saying it is. And I like I'm clear, like I
- 39:22want to be clear about the fact that like I'm not saying he's
- 39:25probably just taking straight UPS steroids and masking with
- 39:29this. I'm just saying like it, it's
- 39:32part of the conversation and and there is a question there.
- 39:36I I don't I don't it's the benefit of the doubt for me.
- 39:39But I mean, it's been 2521 and 25 homers.
- 39:42And I think it's also the part of the conversation that, like,
- 39:45he, you moved them off a shortstop and you kind of like
- 39:50took some superpowers away. And I know he just won a
- 39:53Platinum glove and right, And he's been great defensively,
- 39:56obviously the better position for him.
- 39:59But when you're talking about a guy who's like, on top of the
- 40:02world. It is an aura thing for sure,
- 40:04like moving from short to right, yeah.
- 40:06Yeah, Like, no doubt I no disrespect, JV, but like there's
- 40:12something about being a shortstop that like the mindset
- 40:16is nice, you know what I mean? Like you kind of, you kind of
- 40:19carry that with you anywhere and everywhere you go.
- 40:23And I didn't even come close to sniffing the success that he had
- 40:25it short. Like it's just, I can't even
- 40:28imagine what that would be like to almost be embarrassed to be
- 40:33moved off of that position after just ripping off the starting
- 40:38line and having the start of the career that he did.
- 40:42So like you said, I think it docked the aura a little bit and
- 40:44like then getting popped. I don't, I don't think we can
- 40:48sit here and just say like, oh, your power is totally gone
- 40:50because you're not taking steroids anymore if you were
- 40:53taking them. I think it's, I think it's just
- 40:56a combination of a bad cocktail. I don't think I realized that.
- 41:01And maybe I'm just naive. I, I don't, I didn't think I
- 41:04realized that the masking conversation was part of the the
- 41:08overall conversation. I just thought the two sides to
- 41:11that whole scenario were the people that realized that it was
- 41:16just a cream, but that it was still funny and they were going
- 41:19to lump Tatis in with all these other like freaking meatheads
- 41:24being like, oh, this guy's XPDS. But then I thought there was on
- 41:28the other side of it, there was people who were just ignorant
- 41:35and and lumped and did want to lump him in.
- 41:38They're like, oh, this guy, this guy like is just using out like
- 41:42you were saying, JB, like just outright using traditional
- 41:46steroids. I didn't realize there was like
- 41:48a a factor to that conversation where there was a possibility
- 41:51like, oh, maybe he was masking. Who knows?
- 41:53That's why people don't fully understand steroids.
- 41:56You know what I mean? Like there's a difference
- 41:58between the HGH that we watched in our childhood of like,
- 42:03literally your feet and your head are growing because you're
- 42:06now suddenly growing in your 30s.
- 42:11And like, you know, probably certain things that are banned
- 42:15for recovery, right? Like maybe he's taking stuff
- 42:18that's like helping with muscle recovery and that's going to
- 42:24show up. And I think the steroids are
- 42:28like, it's you got to still put it to use, you know what I mean?
- 42:31Like, it's not like it's not like what we saw on Space Jam
- 42:36where you can just like it immediately steps in and like
- 42:39you're a better baseball player, right?
- 42:41Like you, you have to get in the gym.
- 42:43But it's more so about like, OK, it's just helping you recover
- 42:46faster so you can get in the gym again and recover gym, recover
- 42:50gym. And you're not ever having that
- 42:52like, yeah, downtime. I think that's what most of
- 42:55these guys are getting, yeah. I mean, that's what they're
- 42:58trying to do, and I know. Like recovery stuff you.
- 43:01You probably all like anybody listen to this, has a guy for
- 43:04their team that's probably gotten popped and probably has a
- 43:06story. Mine goes back to Starling Marte
- 43:08and it was he was injured every single year.
- 43:12Guy told him this is going to keep you from being injured.
- 43:15We're going to do this workout and we're going to take this
- 43:17stuff so we can do the workout. And a lot of these guys are only
- 43:20taking this stuff in the offseason because they're just
- 43:23trying to do it for like exactly what Nate was saying.
- 43:27I personally, I mean, I don't know.
- 43:29I mean, he's still hitting the ball hard.
- 43:30Is he just not lifting it? I I, it's kind of hard to say
- 43:34that it's really a a strength thing.
- 43:36It's not. He played more games in two
- 43:38seasons since then. So it's not like a recovery
- 43:41thing. So like I would give him benefit
- 43:44of the doubt in this scenario, just making the call of what
- 43:47what people are saying. But I mean, it's through and
- 43:50through. He's hitting the ball hard and
- 43:52we talked about, you know, you mentioned on base and, and like
- 43:55Luis Horizon, he's 324 on base. Like 324 on base is good if you
- 44:00have power if you're not hitting for any power.
- 44:03Needs to. Be in the force, get me around
- 44:043:50, get me above that and do something else.
- 44:07I mean, he does have 15 RB is so he's driving the ball in a
- 44:10little bit, but 5 double s, like there's no power 2 platinum
- 44:17gloves in right field, which the only argument I would make for
- 44:20that is the fact, yeah, whatever that is.
- 44:24But either way, he's he's like -4 defensive run saved in right
- 44:30field. Now he's made errors or or at
- 44:32least mistakes. Not, you know, it's harder to
- 44:34make an error, but it it's all around.
- 44:36He's been caught stealing more than anybody else in the league
- 44:40this year, so you know, it's kind of a whole thing that
- 44:43matches with you. Talking about a bad look, you
- 44:46said earlier Nate, the bad look for Tatis is the fact that Nick
- 44:50Casianos used his bat to hit a game time Homer.
- 44:58So his bat has has the Homer but he does not.
- 45:02That does not get attributed to him.
- 45:05Can't use the Yogi quote there. Yeah, exactly.
- 45:08So tough look there but and you could.
- 45:12Make. You could make the argument one
- 45:14one other bad look. He's given up more home runs
- 45:18than he has hit home runs. Sure.
- 45:20Shout out inside the park Little League home run.
- 45:24Do you, do you think they, I mean do you think they move
- 45:28them? I'm not saying even this year,
- 45:29but like during the contract. That's like 8 years.
- 45:34So I mean, it's hard to because of this.
- 45:37I, I wouldn't say it would be because of this.
- 45:40I do think he'll be OK. Yeah.
- 45:43But we've seen this happen before and and guys are not so.
- 45:47Well what? What does he make a year 30?
- 45:51Right now, 20, that goes to 25 next year for two years and then
- 45:56it jumps to 36 for the rest of the contract.
- 45:58What was that contract 3:30? That sounds right.
- 46:04I don't. Let me.
- 46:05So let's bump it up to 36. What's acceptable as far as
- 46:10stats go? Like do you what do what do you
- 46:12need for your guy to be making 36 mil?
- 46:16Me personally, I need I need minimum of 30 bombs a year. 3000
- 46:23minimum. Yeah.
- 46:24And I need 140 OPS plus minimum. I think that's kind of where I'm
- 46:35sitting for 36 a year. It's 3:40 for 14 years for me.
- 46:44I just need him to be. I need him to to not be this.
- 46:50I need him to be a big name. The month, the amount of money
- 46:53that you make, the amount of money that I'm paying you just
- 46:58has to equal some something of a amount of money that you're,
- 47:03you're bringing back to me, win a World Series and the whole
- 47:08thing is paid for. I don't care what you do.
- 47:11And that's kind of the idea of that.
- 47:13Like money doesn't buy 30 homers, Like 30 homers can come
- 47:17from a guy who's making his first year in the in the Show.
- 47:20The thing is, is like, I just need to be able, I just need to
- 47:23know that I'm going to get my return on my investment here.
- 47:28And I, I think I've, I, you'll hear a lot of guys say if we win
- 47:32one World Series that covers this, oh, Tawny's contract is
- 47:35paid for. It's been.
- 47:37Paid for, you know what I mean? He needs to.
- 47:40Tatis needs to be marketable like numbers are important, but
- 47:44more so for him than other guys around the league.
- 47:48He needs to be marketable and and the.
- 47:50Check those boxes like he's still a fan favorite.
- 47:52He's still, you still go to the ballpark to watch him.
- 47:55For sure. But when is we just talked about
- 47:58it, when is Tatis like really feeling himself?
- 48:00When is he really in his element?
- 48:02Like when things are clicking? And I get that that's the case
- 48:04for a lot of guys. Like it naturally, like if
- 48:06you're succeeding, you're going to be, you're going to be
- 48:09looser, you're going to be more yourself.
- 48:11But you, you see that shine more with Tatis than almost anybody
- 48:15else in the league. And when, when he's, when he has
- 48:18had his power zapped, you going back to like the space jam
- 48:21example, it's like you're, we're not talking about the same guy.
- 48:25We're we're watching sort of a, a shell of himself.
- 48:28And until he gets that power back, which who knows?
- 48:31And we're talking about the, the, the drop off, if who knows
- 48:35when he gets that back and who knows when we get, you know,
- 48:37vintage Tatis again. For any of my mechanical nerds,
- 48:42he was also a big leg kick guy back then and he is not anymore.
- 48:47It is a toe tap, heel up, heel down type guy.
- 48:52So you got to kind of think of that a little bit as well.
- 48:58Maybe there is some mechanical adjustment that he wants to get
- 49:01back to at that point. But like, yeah, he's that's
- 49:05changed a lot too. He kind of seems out of his
- 49:07legs, but he's still squaring balls up.
- 49:10He's still a premier athlete. You.
- 49:13Know, I think it's going to come.
- 49:14Even if it's even if it's bad all year, I'm not surprised if
- 49:19he comes right back and hits 2530 homers next year.
- 49:23Like that's just, that's just the way it is.
- 49:25A lot of these guys don't don't change a swing.
- 49:29That's an offseason thing to do. So if he made a, if he made a
- 49:32tweak to his swing and, and it's and it's causing him less lift,
- 49:38he might not, he may not change that.
- 49:41He could change different things with his feed, with his setup
- 49:44and all that stuff. But they don't.
- 49:46A lot of times they don't touch swings because man, you start
- 49:49messing with that in season and it could get worse.
- 49:51Yeah, you're. Not wrong, but I, I don't know,
- 49:54I, he's only 27. I, I think you know, it's, it's
- 50:01certainly, certainly something to watch.
- 50:04I I tend to think he'd be OK. We've seen this before though.
- 50:08Yeah. I'd bet on him.
- 50:12I'd bet on him. Like can I say that?
- 50:14Yeah, I would too. I'd be thrilled if he was on my
- 50:17team. I would be thrilled.
- 50:20Well, he was on my team and there was rumor that we'd be
- 50:24able to bring him back. But we're broke boys and we're
- 50:28behaving like a mid market team, so we didn't bring him back.
- 50:31Kyle Schwarber. Kyle Schwaber Coming into
- 50:36Wednesday, a Homer in five straight games, including two on
- 50:47the May 10th game against the Rockies, leaves all of baseball.
- 50:52Well, you may have to double check me on this 'cause this
- 50:54was, at the time of that fifth Homer, 17 homers.
- 50:58Does that still lead all of baseball?
- 51:01JB? Yeah, he's still got 17.
- 51:04Didn't hit anything today. Right.
- 51:06But where does that stand league wide?
- 51:08We still still in the lead for for Schwarbs because it's coming
- 51:11into the day, I believe, OK. Coming into today, yeah, I would
- 51:15say coming into today, I'll double check that.
- 51:19Yeah. So Schwarber back to doing
- 51:22Schwarber things. The last the last week coming
- 51:25into today, Wednesday, was slugging 1120.
- 51:34It's pretty good. It's fairly it's fairly decent.
- 51:40Yeah, another guy who's been fairly decent as of late, the
- 51:45reigning American League Player of the Week.
- 51:49Bobby Witt. Junior, my guy, our guy over the
- 51:55last the last week, 3 homers, hitting 417, slugging 833 and
- 52:04then I think we just saw tonight, right?
- 52:06Hit a hit another one tonight, so you know.
- 52:13He's good. He's.
- 52:14Good, I mean he's he he could if he wanted to.
- 52:20He could just be a staple in the credit cannon segment.
- 52:23I can't. I would love to, but he did.
- 52:26He really wanted to. He could because he's Bobby
- 52:28baseball J. This is honestly, this has been
- 52:33my like. It's it's a little biased
- 52:35because the names are just pretty pretty star heavy in this
- 52:40one, I would say, but just a good collection of names.
- 52:45JB, your guy Paul Skeens, the last two, I mean, we on the
- 52:52year, he's got an ERA of 198. We know what he's been doing
- 52:55this year, but the last two starts alone, just disgusting. 8
- 53:02innings. I mean, obviously it's 8
- 53:04innings. You're never going to see a nine
- 53:05next to Paul Skeens name because the Pirates just don't don't
- 53:10know what that is. The last two starts alone, 8
- 53:14innings each, two hits allowed in each.
- 53:17I mean almost almost identical outings. 8 innings each apiece,
- 53:22two hits each. 0 earned runs, zero walks, 7 KS in the May 6th
- 53:27start against the the D backs. 10 KS against the Rockies.
- 53:34Tuesday, May 12th again. Yeah, against the Rockies.
- 53:37Just just otherworldly stuff. What'd you say in the group chat
- 53:42the other day, JB? His last walk in like a.
- 53:43Walk his last His last walk was in the third inning of his start
- 53:47on April 13th. That's so stupid.
- 53:51That's. His last walk.
- 53:54That's so happening. OK, So remember the opening day,
- 53:58you know, where people are going is, is schemes washed.
- 54:01Like what's OK It was against the Mets of all teams who, by
- 54:04the way are are project. I I think I saw today are the
- 54:07only team currently tracking for 100 losses on the year, which is
- 54:11just insane. The after since the opening day
- 54:17start. He has a one O 9 ERAA .53 whip
- 54:23and a 31 strikeout. A 31% strikeout, right?
- 54:31I mean, it's. That's ridiculous.
- 54:33That's not fun. It's not.
- 54:36It's not real. It's not dude, those are video
- 54:38game numbers and and I and I've also seen the the narrative
- 54:42which call it unfair, call it fair, whatever.
- 54:45I I just think it's an interesting talking point is
- 54:48that now that Scuba's on the on the shelf, it it like there is,
- 54:55there is no question as to who the best pitcher in baseball is
- 54:58at this very moment. Yeah, I have you guys seen that
- 55:02video that's been going around of him like his hour and a half
- 55:05workout routine on bullpen day before he throws a pitch, it's
- 55:11like an hour and a half of like stretching everything, all
- 55:16different kinds of things. It's nuts.
- 55:18It's like a 3 minute video and you just watch his routine.
- 55:24It's sick. He takes care of himself.
- 55:27So I think that's my favorite part about him by the way.
- 55:32So he's not going anywhere like he's not.
- 55:36He's going to be durable. And he doesn't have a ton of
- 55:40mileage on that. He didn't really start pitching
- 55:43all that much until he went to LSU for junior and senior year.
- 55:48Also, so all those bozos out there talking about the impact
- 55:52of the WBC being like, whoa, look at the names that are
- 55:55really scuffling. Well, let's look at the names
- 55:57who are. To take care of their body.
- 56:01Setting the baseball world on fire like Paul Skean's best
- 56:04pitcher in the universe. Nay, the Galaxy.
- 56:08We just talked about Bobby Witt. Bobby Witt's doing just fine.
- 56:13Bryce Harper got an OPS north of 900.
- 56:15Like, we're the guys. The the guys are OK, OK, guys
- 56:20are OK. It's 56 strikeouts to seven
- 56:24walks. Yeah, that's and how many walks
- 56:28do you have in that first start, like 4?
- 56:33I feel like, yeah, I feel like. It dude, I, I legitimately what
- 56:36you what was that ratio 56 to 756 to seven?
- 56:42I truthfully, I don't think I could do that in a video game.
- 56:47Like I'm, I'm missing, I'm missing that zone with the pitch
- 56:52meter more than seven times. Yeah.
- 56:57That's stupid. Yeah, he had.
- 56:59He had two walks in each of his first three starts and then he
- 57:04walked one on April 13th and he hasn't walked somebody since.
- 57:10My goodness. Speaking of Speaking of nasty,
- 57:13another another name. Nasty.
- 57:16Also in Pennsylvania, Christopher Sanchez the last two
- 57:22start Last three starts have been exceptional, but in
- 57:26particular the last two. His May 5th outing against the
- 57:30Athletics went 8 innings, allowed just three hits, zero in
- 57:33runs, one walk, 10 KS. And then his last start against
- 57:38the Rockies 7 innings, six hits, zero and run, zero walks, 7 KS.
- 57:45On the year he's got an ERA of 211 with a WHIP of 12867 KS to
- 57:5214 walks. Christopher Sanchez.
- 57:55Two Phillies on the Credit Canyon this week.
- 57:57Yeah. Number 7 and three in their last
- 57:5910. How about it?
- 58:01That's my, that's my National League representative.
- 58:05Don't you forget it. We never will.
- 58:09You don't let us. You won't let us.
- 58:16Let's go Pirates closing the book.
- 58:19Did you guys see Did you guys see the the giant celebration
- 58:23drama? Yeah, what?
- 58:26How was some flak, huh? What did I mean?
- 58:29I knowing, knowing and watching him for a good chunk of a
- 58:33season. That was all Harrison Vader by
- 58:36the way. No doubt that is the culprit of
- 58:39that celebration 100%. Well, he wasn't even in it like
- 58:43he was in the build up, but the one where they were just he
- 58:49wasn't even out there. So like he, he really must have
- 58:52had, he really must have had a that started impact.
- 58:55I don't care if it's that's him. Yeah, they did it.
- 59:02After the 993 win against the Dodgers on Monday.
- 59:06It was again the one where they were.
- 59:11It happened once. Just.
- 59:12Going to have to watch all the video guys.
- 59:14And then somebody said, I don't know which I'm, I'm intrigued.
- 59:18I, I want to know. I want to find out who, who who
- 59:21acts luster maybe. But I, I would, I would be more
- 59:29hopeful that it came from outside of the organization.
- 59:31Like I want to, I want to find out that it was like Manfred or
- 59:37Griffey or somebody in the in the MLB office being like, Nah,
- 59:42no, no, Nope. I would hope it came from their
- 59:45infield, their pitching staff, their coaching staff, Buster
- 59:50Posey. I would hope it came from
- 59:53everywhere. These dudes get weird together.
- 59:57I'm not normally that weird, but where do we draw the line?
- 1:00:01Where do we draw the line before that?
- 1:00:03Right there. Yeah, let's hope.
- 1:00:05It felt like Jung Huli was just a he was not.
- 1:00:08He was a victim of that. I don't think he he's.
- 1:00:11Like he's like, guys, don't, don't do this, don't do this.
- 1:00:15He's walking up to him. He's like, no, please, please.
- 1:00:17Anything else but this, anything but that.
- 1:00:18And then next thing you know, he's sitting there like.
- 1:00:21Yeah, dude, guys, arms were up in the air.
- 1:00:23Like please stop. Yeah, that was.
- 1:00:28That was, I mean, I mean, did did he provide consent for this?
- 1:00:35Because that looked like a violation.
- 1:00:36Maybe he's the one that said please don't do that again.
- 1:00:41Again, maybe John Hooley is the guy that my.
- 1:00:43Entire country was watching this game and they're worried for me.
- 1:00:50I hope everybody involves like, yeah, probably.
- 1:00:52Not again. We're not going to do that.
- 1:00:54I mean, that was insane. I did see some memes about it
- 1:00:58afterwards and there was like, I think it was like a Dodgers fan.
- 1:01:01It was like, come on, guys, we can't be out gaed by the San
- 1:01:04Francisco Giants. I'm like, what is what is
- 1:01:08happening to our sport? Man?
- 1:01:10This is unbelievable. Was that Murray?
- 1:01:12That had to have been Murray. No insane Max Freed.
- 1:01:21Any update on that? The imaging I guess is tomorrow,
- 1:01:24Thursday, right? Yeah, he came out with a quote
- 1:01:27saying he's not that worried and that he plans to make his next
- 1:01:30start. But who knows, man?
- 1:01:32I mean, this is this is what happens in Yankee land.
- 1:01:37Start off the season hot and stuff starts to go downhill.
- 1:01:40I mean, it's what happens all across the game, but yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:45Yeah. JB said shut up Nate, nobody
- 1:01:47wants to hear. About no, no, I'm just saying
- 1:01:49like this, this is the part of the of the sport right now.
- 1:01:55Yeah, we shall see. He hasn't been himself this year
- 1:01:59yet at all, so. Am I crazy?
- 1:02:03Didn't he? Didn't he start the year off
- 1:02:05well? No, no, he's had a couple.
- 1:02:09He's he's had decent starts. But when you watch like a Max
- 1:02:13Freed start, you're like he's labouring dominant and pretty
- 1:02:18much all year he's been like an escape artist.
- 1:02:23He's been he's really struggled in the wind up.
- 1:02:25So like they've they've tried to like navigate around that and
- 1:02:29get him in the stretch more. It's it's all been pretty weird.
- 1:02:34Very Blake Snell esque putting up good numbers.
- 1:02:37But it it's not without tracking.
- 1:02:39It hasn't. Yeah.
- 1:02:39Not without labour, Yeah, but. I don't know, it must have had
- 1:02:43some like really dominant starts.
- 1:02:45The numbers are still good, 199 average against one.
- 1:02:49Because he's Max freed like. He's one O 1 whip.
- 1:02:52Yeah, but he's really good guys. And there's been a little bit
- 1:02:56of, you know, bad luck and stuff, but like, he hasn't been
- 1:03:00the normal Max Freed yet and he hasn't even tapped into what he
- 1:03:03normally is. The last time he had a a whip as
- 1:03:06low as one O 1, he had a 248 ERA and he's at 321 right now.
- 1:03:10So you can see a little bit of that.
- 1:03:13Still only one home run. I mean, he's been really good.
- 1:03:17I know that's what's scary. More home runs than Fernando
- 1:03:21Tatis. I'm just kidding.
- 1:03:22That doesn't even make sense. We know who he didn't give up a
- 1:03:25home run to. Boom.
- 1:03:31Lastly, here on closing the book, Bobby Cox would be remiss
- 1:03:34without mentioning Bobby Cox, 84 years old, has passed away.
- 1:03:39Led the Braves to the 95 World Series, 5 NMNL pennants, and 4th
- 1:03:44all time in wins. One of one of baseball's great
- 1:03:50managers, but also one of baseball's greatest
- 1:03:55personalities. One of my.
- 1:03:58I think, I think my favorite. I mean, there's so many, so
- 1:04:01many, you know, favorite stats or accolades that he collected
- 1:04:05that could be 1's favorite. But I think mine is the fact
- 1:04:09that he he got tossed exactly 162 * a full season's worth over
- 1:04:15the course of his career, which is just so on par.
- 1:04:18It's like so on brand for Bobby Cox.
- 1:04:21I love that. I love that for him.
- 1:04:23And honestly, been spending a lot of this week thinking about
- 1:04:26and I haven't, I haven't tweeted about it.
- 1:04:28Like, I just think baseball was better when managerial ejections
- 1:04:32were just a regular part of the game and people were like, well,
- 1:04:34so you're saying you don't want the right calls?
- 1:04:36It's like, no, I want mostly right calls with the occasional
- 1:04:40we had the. Right, we had the right setup.
- 1:04:42We. Had it, we had the perfect mix,
- 1:04:44we had the perfect blend and we went and mess it all up.
- 1:04:46I, I just want the occasional semi regular, you know, beef
- 1:04:52between the UMP and the manager. It's, it makes for good
- 1:04:55entertainment. We need to stop taking ourselves
- 1:04:56so seriously all the time. Exactly.
- 1:05:00Yeah, I was pretty sad to see that news come through.
- 1:05:03Just such a legend. And like, I I mean, any of us or
- 1:05:08our generation, like part of us grew up with more Braves
- 1:05:12exposure than almost any other team.
- 1:05:14Just the fact that it was, it's always on TBS and like you just,
- 1:05:19you got to see, you know, pre MLBTV days, like you got to have
- 1:05:23that exposure and, and that those are the years that you,
- 1:05:26you know, I grew up with, you know, the rocking in the in the
- 1:05:31dugout. I'll, I'll just, I can always
- 1:05:33picture that. And yeah, I'd be sad too, man,
- 1:05:37if I was a Braves fan. It's it's like him and Joe Torre
- 1:05:39to me are like the two that like are most comparable to each
- 1:05:43other as far as just being so well revered for for each
- 1:05:48respective franchise. But sad to see him go.
- 1:05:51That's what's an OG right there. Unless you guys got anything
- 1:06:02else going to wrap up with our favorite segment of the show?
- 1:06:09I do have trivia if you want if you want time.
- 1:06:11After this too, Meredith, before we start, before we hopped on,
- 1:06:16she goes, oh, so like, I'm not going to see you guys.
- 1:06:18Am I going to see you like at 11 tonight?
- 1:06:20I was like, no, no, no, like we'll, I'll be up.
- 1:06:24Here we are, same thing. It's 1054 and we have yet to do.
- 1:06:27All right, let's How is this like a?
- 1:06:29Do we need to put a timer on? It we can skip it, we're already
- 1:06:33at a point where if we do the question of the week here, we
- 1:06:35can see wrap up with that. Yeah, let's do the question.
- 1:06:39Oh, oh, didn't mean to jump the gun there.
- 1:06:40Let's do. Mirez Question of the Week.
- 1:06:44And then it should be, I think it should be somewhat quick and
- 1:06:48then maybe we can wrap with trivia.
- 1:06:50All right, so. Mirez Question of the Week.
- 1:06:54Is since you started driving, OK, So put yourself in that
- 1:06:58mindset, OK, Figure out what age that was, approximately 15 and a
- 1:07:02half, 16 depending upon when you get your permit, the license and
- 1:07:06all that. 18. Wait, did I have that right?
- 1:07:13Yeah, me. I was 18.
- 1:07:14No. No, what?
- 1:07:15I'm saying I got those numbers right. 16.
- 1:07:19Yeah. OK.
- 1:07:20I thought I had a had a moment there.
- 1:07:22But you're saying you got yours at 18.
- 1:07:24Fair enough. OK, so put yourself.
- 1:07:26Afforded cars and I'd live right next to the school so I was
- 1:07:28like. What's the point?
- 1:07:30Why? Why wait it out?
- 1:07:32Yeah, put yourself in that frame of mind.
- 1:07:34The question is, since you started driving, what have you
- 1:07:38done more? Drive in reverse or walk side to
- 1:07:43side? So this is like a super.
- 1:07:48Like this is like the whole like more doors or wheels question.
- 1:07:52Yes, exactly or side to side. What?
- 1:07:58What does that? Even mean so his, his, his
- 1:08:01clarifications are that for driving in reverse, what's
- 1:08:05included, backing out of a parking lot, parallel parking,
- 1:08:09driving the wrong way, all counts.
- 1:08:14That's only you, Ray all. Counts for walking side to side
- 1:08:19what's included or examples I should say, but not limited to
- 1:08:23during games to get to your seats.
- 1:08:26Movies when you're in the theater trying to get to your
- 1:08:29seat, large crowds trying to sidestep right, You know, foot
- 1:08:34traffic, things like that all count.
- 1:08:36What do you think you've done more of?
- 1:08:39I was going to say something that it's a good thing that he
- 1:08:41had the caveat of since I started driving, right?
- 1:08:45This is my whole life. Yeah, leading off first base.
- 1:08:50Oh. Yeah, that's huge.
- 1:08:51Like that's, yeah. Well, that's still a, that's
- 1:08:53still a factor though, because you, you got, yeah, yeah, you
- 1:08:56got an 18 and that and you went on to what, 20?
- 1:08:59Two, yeah, I guess I think I'm still going to go driving in
- 1:09:04reverse, man. I I think, I mean, I pull into
- 1:09:07my garage and every day and I reverse out of it.
- 1:09:09Every day I think I'm going to reverse.
- 1:09:13I think I'm actually going reverse too.
- 1:09:15Yeah, because that's, that's a good point.
- 1:09:16That's my default part everyday. Yeah, is is like when I can I'm
- 1:09:21backing in. I do love a good back in, yeah.
- 1:09:25And when people say like, oh, do you yeah, pause, hold on.
- 1:09:28When people say like, oh, do you just think you're better than
- 1:09:30everybody else? Yes, actually, that's that's why
- 1:09:33out of there faster. That's why I.
- 1:09:35Do it and I can do it. That's why I do it.
- 1:09:38I can do it, so I do it. Yeah, I just like to pull up
- 1:09:41beside a car and put my turn signal on and have the guy
- 1:09:43behind me come right up there and then me throw my arms in the
- 1:09:47air and complain about him and drive around the block and do
- 1:09:48the thing whole all over again. That is so on brand that's.
- 1:09:53How it happens? Yeah, give me reverse, honestly.
- 1:09:58Yeah, Yeah, I think so too. Yeah.
- 1:10:00'Cause these, these hips, man, they've, they locked up.
- 1:10:02There's, there's not, there's no lateral, there's not much
- 1:10:05lateral movement in my life anymore these days.
- 1:10:08It's it's it's to and from. There's no sidestepping.
- 1:10:12Yeah, yeah, I agree. Trivia.
- 1:10:18Yeah, let's do it. Let's do it.
- 1:10:21I had a couple that I could have went with here and I was going
- 1:10:23to see what we what we talked about and how we went through it
- 1:10:26before I decided which one to go with.
- 1:10:28This is probably the better one anyway.
- 1:10:32Bailey Ober through a Maddox Tuesday night. 89.
- 1:10:36Against the Marlins 89 pitch complete game shut out, there
- 1:10:41have been 14 complete game shutouts of 90 or less pitches.
- 1:10:46Name all 14. Since 2010, so not that long
- 1:10:51ago. And the question was how many
- 1:10:54can you name which? Which actually works for today
- 1:10:58because it does give you the ability to put a timer on it if
- 1:11:01you want. How many of those can you name?
- 1:11:04Or can we get 5 of them? Well, I know Paul's Keynes is
- 1:11:08not that list, so we. Can limit that list and if you
- 1:11:11go listen to his quotes he's on the same page.
- 1:11:14His first fastball, that 8th inning, was 94 miles an hour.
- 1:11:18Did Sandy do it? He said.
- 1:11:19A million complete games. Yes, yes, he did it 89 pitches
- 1:11:24back on May 19th of 2019. There's one.
- 1:11:27Nathan Niavaldi. Not on the list.
- 1:11:31Wait, hold, what was the category or we?
- 1:11:33Just went mad. Less than 90 or 90 or less than
- 1:11:3690. I I said 90 or less, but none of
- 1:11:38these are right at 90. So less than 90.
- 1:11:40Patients. Oh so this is like a Maddox 2
- 1:11:42point O? Yeah, I mean like because he was
- 1:11:4489. So I'm like, hey, we if we go up
- 1:11:46to 100 there's it's going to expand this list quite you.
- 1:11:49Know I was going to say yeah because he have all the I think
- 1:11:51started last year like one of his early starts was a Maddox I
- 1:11:57remember putting a graphic out about for some reason but or
- 1:11:59another. Since what year?
- 1:12:02Since 2010. 2010 Let's throw like a Logan Webb out there.
- 1:12:12No, not on the list. Cool.
- 1:12:15Give me a, Give me a We got Clayton Kershaw on the list.
- 1:12:21No, Kersh. Max Reed.
- 1:12:28No Max Reed. So there's one in 2025 and there
- 1:12:37wasn't one in since 2021. Give me give me a Rick Porcello.
- 1:12:47Not on the list, the one in 2010, one of the ones in 2010
- 1:12:50there was 2, but the old the the first one on this is a very
- 1:12:57notable, very famous complete game.
- 1:13:01Shut out. Very famous, not linsicum.
- 1:13:05Golly, man. This is a tough look, very.
- 1:13:10Some of those older names, except for the one that I just
- 1:13:12gave you a big hint of. Some of these older ones are
- 1:13:16probably a lot harder to get. Scherzer.
- 1:13:19Not Scherzer either. Why was it so notable?
- 1:13:24It's extremely Who's that one pitcher from like, what, three
- 1:13:29to four years ago that works insanely fast?
- 1:13:34Who's like the guy that's notorious for working fast?
- 1:13:42Can somebody help me out here? I'm not sure who you're going
- 1:13:49with, but there is somebody on this list.
- 1:13:51He threw only 81 pitches and it was kind of his thing that he
- 1:13:58that he didn't throw a lot of pitches, didn't strike out a lot
- 1:14:00of guys. Kind of his thing.
- 1:14:07Just efficiency pitcher didn't overpower you, he was just you
- 1:14:12just granted all the time not that grinky that's.
- 1:14:14Mark Burley. Not Burley at he might be a
- 1:14:18little older than that. Oh, duh, you said. 20. 10 you
- 1:14:22said 2010. 2010. Who is the guy that I'm thinking
- 1:14:26of this? Guy Michael Walker.
- 1:14:32What? Not Michael Walker, one of his
- 1:14:36teammates. Seth Lugo.
- 1:14:43Not one of his current teammates.
- 1:14:50Let's go with Adam Wainwright. There you go.
- 1:14:55That's Yep, that's the 2021. So you've got 1 from 2019 and 1
- 1:15:00from 2021, and obviously Bailey Ober is one of the 14.
- 1:15:07Obviously. There's one guy you guys are
- 1:15:11very familiar with who I don't think is surprising on this
- 1:15:17list. He's the He's last year's and
- 1:15:24did it with 11 strikeouts on 89 pitches.
- 1:15:29Dang. Yeah. 2010.
- 1:15:36Last year with 11 punches, last year with 11.
- 1:15:48Give me the position, all right? What's the team from last year?
- 1:15:54Saint Louis. Sounded great.
- 1:16:00There it is. Good pull.
- 1:16:04All right, so we've actually got one through 4, Ober, Gray,
- 1:16:07Wainwright, Alcantra. Ober doesn't count for a pick.
- 1:16:11But now we're going, I mean, now we're going 2019 and then 2015
- 1:16:19and and earlier one more in 2019, which is the guy I was
- 1:16:22talking about who plays for one of the teams in Chicago.
- 1:16:25Wade, Miley. Not Wade Miley.
- 1:16:30This was the one I was telling you that he's he was just kind
- 1:16:33of known for this. He did an 81 pitches.
- 1:16:36Greg Maddox. No, imagine Maddox in 2019.
- 1:16:43I mean he. Does.
- 1:16:45I bet he could still do it. Rich Hill.
- 1:16:48No, he. Bartolo, Cologne.
- 1:16:53Not Cologne. Jesse Chavez.
- 1:16:59No. He was like, oh.
- 1:17:05Oh boy, she's. All right, so I'll do this.
- 1:17:08He played for the Cubs. You said that.
- 1:17:11I said one of the teams in Chicago, the.
- 1:17:16Other ones count. Yeah, that one count.
- 1:17:18Well, hey, numbers respect my white number six.
- 1:17:21Was the White Sox, but it was a guy who also played for the
- 1:17:24Cubs, but he did it with the White Sox.
- 1:17:26Shoot. One one guy for Boston, but it's
- 1:17:33not a guy I would, I would think one guy for Boston did an 81
- 1:17:36pitches. What year?
- 1:17:40What year was this? 2012.
- 1:17:43Oh gosh, yeah, I wouldn't. John Smoltz.
- 1:17:47No, I, I no. No, that was.
- 1:17:50Not that. Not that kind of a name.
- 1:17:51Slight early. I saw that earlier 20/12/2012.
- 1:17:58We could just get one more, I think.
- 1:18:00Oh, John Lackey. No.
- 1:18:04Or no? Do they bring him in in 13 Clay
- 1:18:10Buckholtz? No, I'm telling you that this
- 1:18:14name is It's a tough one. I think he spent some time in
- 1:18:19Colorado. The most famous one, the most
- 1:18:27like extremely famous one because it was a complete game
- 1:18:34shut out, but it could have been more.
- 1:18:36Cy Young. In 2010, Lily No, it could have
- 1:18:41been more than a complete game shut out.
- 1:18:45It could. What does that mean?
- 1:18:46It could have been more than a complete game shut out.
- 1:18:48It was only one hit and that hit came very late in the game.
- 1:18:53Oh. Extremely famous.
- 1:19:00Andres Galaraga. I feel like you kind of are
- 1:19:08like, you know exactly who this is, but obviously not Andres
- 1:19:12Galaraga. Ramon Galaraga.
- 1:19:16That was Andres was closer. We got to be able to get this.
- 1:19:23Man, oh, oh, oh, oh, Oh yes, you Baldo Jimenez.
- 1:19:26No, you went further away. What other Galarraga?
- 1:19:31Literally the Galarraga who had a perfect game taken from him.
- 1:19:37Is that not Andre? Wait, what year was that?
- 1:19:39No. Andres Galarraga was the first
- 1:19:41baseman. Oh yeah, What was?
- 1:19:42What was Armando's name? Armando Armando Galarraga.
- 1:19:49I I just forgot? That's what I was trying to get
- 1:19:52you to get the name right. He said Armando, but it he.
- 1:19:55Said Andre. Sounded like Ted Lilly.
- 1:19:57Yeah, it's a common sense. It's an accent.
- 1:20:00No I literally said that his fashion was him.
- 1:20:03I just forgot the. First name?
- 1:20:04Yes, the Red Sox was Aaron Cook. Yeah.
- 1:20:08No, the cub I was trying to get you to say was Kyle Hendricks.
- 1:20:13Also on I was. Thinking of him?
- 1:20:14Wait, you said he played for the White Sox too?
- 1:20:17No, that was the next one. Jeff Samarja did it with the
- 1:20:21White Sox. Corey Kluber with Cleveland.
- 1:20:25Henderson Alvarez the third with Miami.
- 1:20:28Kyle Loesch with Milwaukee. Oh, yeah.
- 1:20:30Joe Blanton, Philly. Jeff Carstens, Pittsburgh.
- 1:20:34Oh, you know, Jime Garcia, Saint Louis Cardinals, Armando
- 1:20:38Galarrago. What is his?
- 1:20:39Name Insane collection. Yeah.
- 1:20:42Of names. It is, and that's why I was
- 1:20:44like, we're not getting all of these for sure.
- 1:20:47Dude, we would have. Nobody's pulling Aaron Cook.
- 1:20:49I would have Joe Bland. I would have.
- 1:20:51I would have been stuck here for days.
- 1:20:53There's Jeff. Carsten I would have never, I
- 1:20:55would have never tried Jeff Carter.
- 1:20:57'S yeah, Jeff Samarja either. Like I'm not pulling that name
- 1:21:01out. No Henderson Alvarez.
- 1:21:05I don't know who that is. Exactly.
- 1:21:07I don't. I've never heard of that guy.
- 1:21:10I remembered him once. I saw the name.
- 1:21:12He he played. I thought he pitched in
- 1:21:15Washington. I'm upset that I said Andres.
- 1:21:18I was literally thinking Galarago and you guys started
- 1:21:20laughing at me and I was like, I don't think that was that bad of
- 1:21:22a guess. I was laughing because it's
- 1:21:24Andres Go. I was like, no, but you're,
- 1:21:26you're there. It's.
- 1:21:28Another galarago I'm. Thinking of that.
- 1:21:29Yeah. Thanks a lot, Jim Joyce.
- 1:21:32Jim Joyce. I, I'm at the point with that
- 1:21:35whole thing that I, I mean, at this point, how are you as a, as
- 1:21:41an outsider, not, I'm not saying Galaraki, like obviously I'd
- 1:21:43probably feel differently if I was him, but as an outsider,
- 1:21:48it's got it. It's so much better of a story
- 1:21:53that he didn't get it because we're still talking about it.
- 1:21:56What, what was it? Who was the name trivia Pop
- 1:21:58quiz? Who is the name I mentioned
- 1:22:00earlier that threw the perfect game in 2012?
- 1:22:04Exactly number exactly. You had to think about it.
- 1:22:07But if I say who's the guy that almost had the perfect game,
- 1:22:10that name comes to you immediately, it's because.
- 1:22:12It's but more Andre. Part of his name.
- 1:22:14His last name comes part of his. Name well regular baseball
- 1:22:17people that the no ball make podcast equipment more
- 1:22:23expensive, more expensive. But you see what I mean though?
- 1:22:26Like obviously if you're a gala Rocky, you feel differently, but
- 1:22:28as an outsider, I, I think it's, the longer it goes, I think it
- 1:22:32you look back on it as a, as an even better story.
- 1:22:35It's the only reason I know Jim Joyce's name.
- 1:22:37Exactly. Yeah, or Kyle.
- 1:22:40Rocka's name, for that reason known.
- 1:22:42And I think that's the point. And I think that he actually
- 1:22:44does. I think he recognizes that.
- 1:22:47Yeah. And he like he knows he's, I
- 1:22:51think he is fine with the way it is if like I've seen some things
- 1:22:55with him and he's just like, no, I mean, I still get to show my
- 1:22:59grandkids I pitched a perfect game.
- 1:23:01Yeah, everybody knows he pitched a perfect game.
- 1:23:03But right, because it's not in the books as such, we get to
- 1:23:06keep talking about it. Anyway, what are you laughing
- 1:23:10at? My wife's gift that she sent me.
- 1:23:18Even now, be over there in a minute.
- 1:23:21Shoot. All right, good stuff.
- 1:23:25JB, over to you. Go baseball.
- 1:23:31See you guys Sunday just. Maybe.
- 1:23:34Real, real talk though, I, I think I've mentioned it, I don't
- 1:23:38know. I'm on a, I'm on a, I'm on a.
- 1:23:40Your day-to-day. I'm day-to-day, you know, I
- 1:23:43could be this thing this this little guy could be popping out
- 1:23:47any day. So it's TBD.
- 1:23:49I'm a game time decision on on maybe.
- 1:23:52Just make that lobby for us just in case.
- 1:23:55Yeah, I think I was like you guys.
- 1:23:56Can run the. Show show me how to make a
- 1:23:58lobby. Yeah.
- 1:24:00That'll end. That'll end my consecutive game
- 1:24:03streak on this podcast. I'll be the first one I haven't
- 1:24:05hosted. That's fair.
- 1:24:07When that time comes, I might just kick you guys off the
- 1:24:12account and then you can't enter the.
- 1:24:13Lobby we can't do. It we just want podcast.
- 1:24:16Whatever works. It's like I'm fine with that.
- 1:24:19Just like the better division in our fantasy league, don't go
- 1:24:25chasing curveballs. OK, we love you all as always.
- 1:24:27Looking forward to talking more baseball with you guys soon.
- 1:24:30Until next time, stay filthy.
